Let's pray. 00:02:57.14\00:02:58.47 Father in heaven, thank You again 00:02:58.51\00:02:59.84 for this opportunity to answer questions, 00:02:59.87\00:03:02.01 sincere, honest questions, difficult questions 00:03:02.04\00:03:05.35 and sometimes very simple questions 00:03:05.38\00:03:07.32 that are answered from Your Word. 00:03:07.35\00:03:09.08 We want to lift up Your Word right now. 00:03:09.12\00:03:11.32 We want to ask that the Holy Spirit 00:03:11.35\00:03:12.69 will be the instructor, 00:03:12.72\00:03:14.06 the guide and we want to ask 00:03:14.09\00:03:15.56 that those who are listening will receive the answers 00:03:15.59\00:03:18.19 that they need to direct their lives, 00:03:18.23\00:03:19.86 to change their lives, 00:03:19.89\00:03:21.23 to impact their lives for heaven. 00:03:21.26\00:03:23.30 We ask and pray these things in Jesus' name. 00:03:23.33\00:03:25.93 Amen. Amen. 00:03:25.97\00:03:27.30 Amen. 00:03:27.34\00:03:28.77 You know, it can be very difficult 00:03:28.80\00:03:30.14 to answer some of these questions 00:03:30.17\00:03:31.57 in two minutes 00:03:31.61\00:03:32.94 or the one question you get that is three minutes. 00:03:32.97\00:03:35.78 That's a challenge. 00:03:35.81\00:03:37.15 Oh, wow, three minutes. 00:03:37.18\00:03:38.51 For sure, yes. 00:03:38.55\00:03:40.52 Pastor Dinzey, we're going start with you. 00:03:40.55\00:03:43.05 "Please shed light on this one. 00:03:43.08\00:03:45.15 I thought that wine is a mocker 00:03:45.19\00:03:47.36 and yet people in the Bible were drinking it." 00:03:47.39\00:03:49.66 This is from Chandler. 00:03:49.69\00:03:51.23 Well, that's a good question. 00:03:51.26\00:03:52.59 Proverbs 20:1 is the scripture you are referring to. 00:03:52.63\00:03:56.13 And it says, "Wine is a mocker, strong drink is a brawler, 00:03:56.16\00:03:59.67 and whoever is led astray by it is not wise." 00:03:59.70\00:04:04.31 New King James, that's what it says. 00:04:04.34\00:04:06.54 In the King James Version, 00:04:06.57\00:04:08.08 it says, whoever is deceived by it is not wise. 00:04:08.11\00:04:10.68 So why are some people drinking wine 00:04:10.71\00:04:12.98 in the Bible? 00:04:13.01\00:04:14.52 You have to look at the context 00:04:14.55\00:04:16.38 because the word wine in the Bible, 00:04:16.42\00:04:18.59 in both the Old and New Testament, 00:04:18.62\00:04:21.09 is used to refer both to fermented wine 00:04:21.12\00:04:24.23 and pure grape juice. 00:04:24.26\00:04:28.13 So you have to look at the context. 00:04:28.16\00:04:30.07 And we're going to look at a few of those if we can. 00:04:30.10\00:04:32.63 The Greek word is oinos, the Hebrew word is yayin. 00:04:32.67\00:04:37.54 These are the words that have been translated, 00:04:37.57\00:04:40.11 depending on the context you have to look. 00:04:40.14\00:04:42.01 Now let me give you one example. 00:04:42.04\00:04:43.75 Noah, Chapter 9, in Genesis 9:20 00:04:43.78\00:04:47.15 and onward it talks about Noah, 00:04:47.18\00:04:49.38 it says that "Noah became a farmer 00:04:49.42\00:04:51.65 and he planted a vineyard. 00:04:51.69\00:04:53.02 Then he drank of the wine and was drunk." 00:04:53.05\00:04:54.82 And what happened? 00:04:54.86\00:04:56.19 "He became uncovered in his tent. 00:04:56.22\00:04:57.56 And Ham, the father of Canaan, 00:04:57.59\00:04:59.19 saw the nakedness of his father, 00:04:59.23\00:05:01.20 and told his two brothers outside. 00:05:01.23\00:05:03.37 But Shem and Japheth took a garment 00:05:03.40\00:05:05.50 and laid it on both their shoulders 00:05:05.53\00:05:07.44 and went backward and covered the nakedness 00:05:07.47\00:05:09.20 of their father. 00:05:09.24\00:05:10.57 Their faces were turned away 00:05:10.61\00:05:11.94 and they did not see their father's nakedness." 00:05:11.97\00:05:14.08 This is obviously that he drank the wine 00:05:14.11\00:05:16.21 that was intoxicating 00:05:16.24\00:05:17.58 and he did something foolish. 00:05:17.61\00:05:19.48 Now, Lot's daughters, 00:05:19.51\00:05:21.32 you look at the story of Lot's daughters, 00:05:21.35\00:05:23.22 they made their father drunk. 00:05:23.25\00:05:25.09 And then they went to bed with him 00:05:25.12\00:05:26.65 so that to preserve the race or his name. 00:05:26.69\00:05:30.46 They got him drunk so that he didn't know 00:05:30.49\00:05:32.03 what he was doing 00:05:32.06\00:05:33.40 and two children were born. 00:05:33.43\00:05:34.83 And there's great trouble because of that. 00:05:34.86\00:05:37.07 So perhaps you're thinking of the story of Jesus. 00:05:37.10\00:05:40.04 He converted wine. 00:05:40.07\00:05:41.84 He converted water into wine. 00:05:41.87\00:05:43.91 Would Jesus convert water into wine 00:05:43.94\00:05:48.01 that was intoxicating 00:05:48.04\00:05:49.38 and people would get drunk 00:05:49.41\00:05:50.75 and wouldn't know what they were doing? 00:05:50.78\00:05:52.11 No, Jesus was faithful to God's word. 00:05:52.15\00:05:55.68 He knew that wine is a mocker and strong drink is raging. 00:05:55.72\00:05:59.05 What He made was the pure grape juice. 00:05:59.09\00:06:02.82 And as a matter of fact, 00:06:02.86\00:06:04.36 it is interesting that some commentators 00:06:04.39\00:06:06.66 have commented about this 00:06:06.70\00:06:08.20 and they said, "It was new wine freshly created. 00:06:08.23\00:06:12.73 It was not old decayed wine as it would have to be 00:06:12.77\00:06:16.94 if they were intoxicating. 00:06:16.97\00:06:19.07 There was no time for the fermentation process 00:06:19.11\00:06:21.04 to break down the structure 00:06:21.08\00:06:22.41 of its energy giving sugars 00:06:22.44\00:06:23.95 and into these integrative alcohols. 00:06:23.98\00:06:26.35 Jesus made pure grape juice. 00:06:26.38\00:06:29.02 Imagine what weapons 00:06:29.05\00:06:32.59 the scribes and the Pharisee would have 00:06:32.62\00:06:34.46 if they say Jesus made fermented wine. 00:06:34.49\00:06:38.03 It would have destroyed His ministry, 00:06:38.06\00:06:40.50 Jesus created the fresh, pure grape juice 00:06:40.53\00:06:44.53 and time does not permit us to go further. 00:06:44.57\00:06:47.24 And I hope this is of help to you. 00:06:47.27\00:06:48.77 Amen. 00:06:48.80\00:06:50.14 I can only imagine how wonderful 00:06:50.17\00:06:52.37 that grape juice must have been. 00:06:52.41\00:06:53.74 My goodness. 00:06:53.78\00:06:55.11 Welch's isn't got nothing on it. 00:06:55.14\00:06:56.48 Exactly. 00:06:56.51\00:06:57.85 I was thinking the same exact thing. 00:06:57.88\00:06:59.21 Absolutely incredible. 00:06:59.25\00:07:00.58 Pastor Ryan, we're going to go to you on this question. 00:07:00.62\00:07:03.02 "Ryan, can you please explain what spirits in prison mean 00:07:03.05\00:07:06.82 in 1 Peter 3:18-20?" 00:07:06.86\00:07:10.16 This is from Luanne. Yeah, absolutely. 00:07:10.19\00:07:11.76 So I've heard actually a few answers 00:07:11.79\00:07:13.16 on this over the years. 00:07:13.19\00:07:14.53 But I believe we should always allow the Bible 00:07:14.56\00:07:16.67 to interpret itself 00:07:16.70\00:07:18.03 and try to take the weight of evidence 00:07:18.07\00:07:19.43 as far as what the spirits is referring to. 00:07:19.47\00:07:21.87 So let's look at the text, 1 Peter 3:18-19. 00:07:21.90\00:07:25.11 The Bible says here, 00:07:25.14\00:07:26.47 "For Christ also suffered once for sins, 00:07:26.51\00:07:28.68 the just for the unjust, that He might bring us to God, 00:07:28.71\00:07:31.75 being put to death in the flesh but made alive in the Spirit." 00:07:31.78\00:07:35.42 And here's the verse, 00:07:35.45\00:07:36.79 "By whom He also went and preached 00:07:36.82\00:07:38.15 to the spirits in prison." 00:07:38.19\00:07:39.72 Now many people take this text 00:07:39.75\00:07:41.16 and they automatically assume that Jesus, 00:07:41.19\00:07:42.99 I've heard people say all the time, people, 00:07:43.02\00:07:44.43 you know, Jesus He died and He went to hell 00:07:44.46\00:07:47.23 and He went down there 00:07:47.26\00:07:48.60 and preach to dead people in hell 00:07:48.63\00:07:50.00 or, you know, they've got all these convoluted ideas 00:07:50.03\00:07:52.57 and interpretations that they come up with. 00:07:52.60\00:07:54.34 But we must allow the Bible to interpret itself. 00:07:54.37\00:07:57.31 In this case, there's a lot that can be said 00:07:57.34\00:07:58.94 about this particular verse. 00:07:58.97\00:08:00.31 And I'll give the general meaning 00:08:00.34\00:08:01.68 in just a moment of the overall verse 00:08:01.71\00:08:03.04 and what it's saying. 00:08:03.08\00:08:04.41 But we're dealing with the spirits. 00:08:04.45\00:08:05.78 What is the spirits? 00:08:05.81\00:08:07.15 I believe if we allow other texts 00:08:07.18\00:08:08.52 in Scripture to tell us what these spirits are, 00:08:08.55\00:08:10.42 it becomes clear. 00:08:10.45\00:08:11.79 If we go to Luke 10:18-20, 00:08:11.82\00:08:14.09 we get an idea 00:08:14.12\00:08:15.46 of what the spirits in the plural, 00:08:15.49\00:08:16.93 lowercase s, in the plural means. 00:08:16.96\00:08:19.43 And then we have to read it within the context. 00:08:19.46\00:08:21.36 So Luke 10:18-20. 00:08:21.40\00:08:23.53 Jesus is talking. 00:08:23.57\00:08:24.90 He says, "I saw Satan fall like lightning from heaven. 00:08:24.93\00:08:27.70 Behold, I give you the authority to trample 00:08:27.74\00:08:29.44 on serpents and scorpions 00:08:29.47\00:08:30.91 and over all the powers of the enemy 00:08:30.94\00:08:32.57 and nothing shall by any means hurt you." 00:08:32.61\00:08:35.08 But then verse 20 says, "Nevertheless, 00:08:35.11\00:08:36.54 do not rejoice in this that the spirits," 00:08:36.58\00:08:40.72 there it is, "that the spirits are subject to you, 00:08:40.75\00:08:42.92 but rather rejoice because your names 00:08:42.95\00:08:45.55 are written in heaven." 00:08:45.59\00:08:47.26 Now take that and tie it to Luke 11 next chapter 00:08:47.29\00:08:49.99 and notice what he says, 00:08:50.03\00:08:51.36 "When an unclean spirit goes out of the man, 00:08:51.39\00:08:53.93 he goes through the dry places, 00:08:53.96\00:08:55.30 seeking rest, and finding none." 00:08:55.33\00:08:57.03 He says, "I will return to my house 00:08:57.07\00:08:59.17 from which I came and he," 00:08:59.20\00:09:01.07 notice it, "when he comes, 00:09:01.10\00:09:02.44 he finds it swept and put in order." 00:09:02.47\00:09:04.74 And then verse 26, 00:09:04.77\00:09:06.11 "Then he goes and takes with him seven other spirits, 00:09:06.14\00:09:09.88 more wicked than himself 00:09:09.91\00:09:11.31 and they enter and dwell there, 00:09:11.35\00:09:13.11 and the last state of the man, 00:09:13.15\00:09:14.52 the last state of the man is worse than the first." 00:09:14.55\00:09:16.15 Now also Mark 1:27, 00:09:16.18\00:09:17.72 just to provide some foundation here. 00:09:17.75\00:09:19.92 "Then they all were amazed, it says, 00:09:19.95\00:09:22.69 so that they all questioned among themselves saying, 00:09:22.72\00:09:24.43 'What is this? 00:09:24.46\00:09:25.79 What new doctrine is this? 00:09:25.83\00:09:27.16 For with authority He commands 00:09:27.20\00:09:28.53 even the unclean spirits and they obey Him.'" 00:09:28.56\00:09:32.37 Now all of these particular texts 00:09:32.40\00:09:34.14 referring to spirits as evil fallen angels. 00:09:34.17\00:09:37.34 I believe that's exactly what's happening here 00:09:37.37\00:09:39.01 in this text based on the context 00:09:39.04\00:09:40.68 as you keep reading through, 00:09:40.71\00:09:42.04 Jesus died on the cross. 00:09:42.08\00:09:43.41 So here's the overall meaning of this text. 00:09:43.45\00:09:44.88 Jesus died on the cross 00:09:44.91\00:09:46.48 and was resurrected by the Holy Spirit. 00:09:46.51\00:09:48.75 He was made alive by the Spirit and in His resurrected state, 00:09:48.78\00:09:52.25 He proclaimed victory 00:09:52.29\00:09:54.06 over Satan and the fallen angels. 00:09:54.09\00:09:56.49 Now, tie that to the next few verses down 00:09:56.52\00:09:59.49 in 1 Peter 3, 00:09:59.53\00:10:00.86 when you get to verse 22, 00:10:00.90\00:10:02.23 it kind of gives and provides some support to this 00:10:02.26\00:10:04.07 because when you get to verse 22, it says, 00:10:04.10\00:10:05.90 "Who has gone into heaven 00:10:05.93\00:10:07.27 and is at the right hand of God, 00:10:07.30\00:10:08.74 angels and authorities and powers 00:10:08.77\00:10:11.24 having been made subject to Him." 00:10:11.27\00:10:14.08 So yes, there are, you know, spirits. 00:10:14.11\00:10:15.88 This is the word pneuma. 00:10:15.91\00:10:17.25 And we have to understand it 00:10:17.28\00:10:18.61 within the context that it's given. 00:10:18.65\00:10:19.98 But spirits in this context, I believe, 00:10:20.02\00:10:21.35 is talking about how Christ gained victory over sin. 00:10:21.38\00:10:24.29 He gained victory over death, 00:10:24.32\00:10:25.69 over the wiles and the temptations 00:10:25.72\00:10:27.56 and the evil plans of the enemy and He preached, 00:10:27.59\00:10:29.79 He proclaimed, He declared that victory 00:10:29.82\00:10:32.06 when He was made alive and resurrected 00:10:32.09\00:10:34.00 by the Spirit immediately 00:10:34.03\00:10:35.36 when He got the first chance to. 00:10:35.40\00:10:36.73 And you know what? 00:10:36.77\00:10:38.10 And also I can add to this really quickly, 00:10:38.13\00:10:39.47 I believe, He also preached 00:10:39.50\00:10:41.37 and became a witness unto the spirits 00:10:41.40\00:10:43.54 even come to us, 00:10:43.57\00:10:44.91 we are spirits to a certain extent, 00:10:44.94\00:10:46.31 in the sense that we are imprisoned by sin, 00:10:46.34\00:10:49.24 but Christ overcame that. 00:10:49.28\00:10:51.05 So, but in this context, 00:10:51.08\00:10:52.41 I believe those spirits is referencing 00:10:52.45\00:10:54.52 the evil fallen spirits, 00:10:54.55\00:10:55.92 the evil angels that Christ overcame 00:10:55.95\00:10:58.32 and gained the victory over the plans of the enemy. 00:10:58.35\00:11:01.12 Thank you for that explanation, Pastor Day. 00:11:01.16\00:11:03.29 "Pastor Rafferty, how do I answer someone 00:11:03.32\00:11:06.29 who says to me that Pharaoh will be forgiven 00:11:06.33\00:11:08.70 because it is God who hardened his heart? 00:11:08.73\00:11:10.90 This doesn't sit well with me." 00:11:10.93\00:11:12.27 This is from Nam out of South Africa. 00:11:12.30\00:11:14.30 Nam out of South Africa, that's a really good question. 00:11:14.34\00:11:16.37 Let's look at a couple of the verses here. 00:11:16.40\00:11:17.91 Exodus 7:3-4, they read, 00:11:17.94\00:11:20.44 "And I will harden Pharaoh's heart, 00:11:20.48\00:11:22.31 and multiply my signs and my wonders 00:11:22.34\00:11:25.61 in the land of Egypt. 00:11:25.65\00:11:26.98 But Pharaoh shall not hearken unto you, 00:11:27.02\00:11:29.12 that I may lay my hand upon Egypt 00:11:29.15\00:11:31.49 and bring forth mine armies, 00:11:31.52\00:11:33.36 and my people the children of Israel, 00:11:33.39\00:11:35.76 out of the land of Egypt by great judgment." 00:11:35.79\00:11:38.06 So the context of these verses, 00:11:38.09\00:11:40.20 especially verse 4 really help us to understand 00:11:40.23\00:11:42.46 what God is doing and how God's foreknowledge 00:11:42.50\00:11:45.37 of how Pharaoh will respond is going to impact all of the, 00:11:45.40\00:11:50.64 all that God is going to do to deliver his people. 00:11:50.67\00:11:52.74 See, God is basically saying, I'm going to perform signs, 00:11:52.77\00:11:56.14 I'm going to perform wonders in Egypt. 00:11:56.18\00:11:58.35 But Pharaoh is not going to pay attention 00:11:58.38\00:12:01.32 and obey me in relationship to these signs, 00:12:01.35\00:12:04.45 in relationship to these wonders. 00:12:04.49\00:12:06.62 And it's going to make his heart hard. 00:12:06.65\00:12:08.59 Why is it going to make his heart hard? 00:12:08.62\00:12:10.83 Well, because Pharaoh responds to the emergency by repenting, 00:12:10.86\00:12:15.66 but it's a false repentance. 00:12:15.70\00:12:17.70 As soon as the plague is gone, 00:12:17.73\00:12:20.84 Pharaoh turns back to his old ways. 00:12:20.87\00:12:23.00 This is an illustration of false repentance as seen 00:12:23.04\00:12:26.11 in other places of the Bible. 00:12:26.14\00:12:27.48 You see, God encourages human beings to respond. 00:12:27.51\00:12:31.15 But many times we have a false positive. 00:12:31.18\00:12:34.12 And that is not real or lasting. 00:12:34.15\00:12:36.89 Let's look at a couple of examples. 00:12:36.92\00:12:38.25 For example, Judas, his heart was hardened. 00:12:38.29\00:12:41.72 When he saw all of the miracles that Christ performed, 00:12:41.76\00:12:44.73 he listened to all of the sermons, 00:12:44.76\00:12:46.73 the gospel truths that Christ preached, 00:12:46.76\00:12:48.93 but he did not respond to Jesus with true repentance. 00:12:48.96\00:12:52.77 And therefore he became harder and harder 00:12:52.80\00:12:54.97 through the process 00:12:55.00\00:12:56.37 of God's goodness being revealed. 00:12:56.40\00:12:58.51 And in sense, in a sense, Jesus was hardening his heart. 00:12:58.54\00:13:01.58 Why? 00:13:01.61\00:13:02.94 Because Judas was choosing to reject 00:13:02.98\00:13:04.68 what Jesus was saying. 00:13:04.71\00:13:06.05 Same with the Jewish leaders. 00:13:06.08\00:13:07.42 They were hardened by seeing and hearing Jesus, 00:13:07.45\00:13:09.58 and yet they weren't responding to His signs and His miracles 00:13:09.62\00:13:12.09 and His wonders with genuine repentance. 00:13:12.12\00:13:13.82 In fact, the word in the Hebrew for hardened 00:13:13.86\00:13:16.42 in Exodus 9:12, 10:20, 27, 11:10 00:13:16.46\00:13:20.36 and Exodus 14:8 00:13:20.40\00:13:21.96 means to be strong to restrain and a conquered. 00:13:22.00\00:13:25.00 Jesus, God is trying to restrain 00:13:25.03\00:13:27.34 trying to conquer our hearts, 00:13:27.37\00:13:30.04 but if we respond to the negative, 00:13:30.07\00:13:31.97 our hearts are hardened. 00:13:32.01\00:13:33.74 Amen. Deep explanation. 00:13:33.78\00:13:35.18 Thank you. Thank you. 00:13:35.21\00:13:36.54 Pastor Dinzey, could you please explain 00:13:36.58\00:13:38.21 what Genesis 9:4 means when it says, 00:13:38.25\00:13:41.32 "You shall not eat flesh with lifeblood in it?" 00:13:41.35\00:13:45.12 Very good. 00:13:45.15\00:13:46.49 Your question based on the reading of it 00:13:46.52\00:13:48.92 comes from the NIV. 00:13:48.96\00:13:50.86 And it says, "But you must not eat meat 00:13:50.89\00:13:52.66 that has its lifeblood still in it." 00:13:52.69\00:13:56.00 This is a prohibition that came after the flood 00:13:56.03\00:13:58.70 because prior to the flood, 00:13:58.73\00:14:00.07 there was no meat eating by God's people, 00:14:00.10\00:14:03.47 except for the ones that were the wicked people 00:14:03.51\00:14:05.81 that their hearts were only evil continually. 00:14:05.84\00:14:09.01 And notice in Genesis 9:3, it says, 00:14:09.04\00:14:14.08 "Every moving thing that lives shall be food for you. 00:14:14.12\00:14:16.79 I have given you all things even as the green herbs 00:14:16.82\00:14:19.55 but you shall not eat flesh 00:14:19.59\00:14:21.02 with its life that is its blood." 00:14:21.06\00:14:23.66 This is the, what God has said. 00:14:23.69\00:14:26.39 Now, why would God say that? 00:14:26.43\00:14:28.43 God is all knowing. 00:14:28.46\00:14:30.20 He knows how He created the animals. 00:14:30.23\00:14:32.60 And obviously, it was not something 00:14:32.63\00:14:35.34 that would be good for you to do. 00:14:35.37\00:14:37.27 As a matter of fact, 00:14:37.31\00:14:38.81 scientists can tell you that we are not created, 00:14:38.84\00:14:42.81 they don't use the word created by the way, 00:14:42.84\00:14:45.01 to digest blood. 00:14:45.05\00:14:47.48 And if you consider the fact 00:14:47.52\00:14:49.08 that the animals that carry diseases, 00:14:49.12\00:14:52.39 that disease would be in the blood. 00:14:52.42\00:14:54.79 Now there are some people that eat live animals, 00:14:54.82\00:14:57.66 they are taking a great risk 00:14:57.69\00:14:59.53 because if there's a disease in that animal 00:14:59.56\00:15:02.23 and they eat the blood they are, 00:15:02.26\00:15:04.37 they could be facing serious, serious problem. 00:15:04.40\00:15:07.27 Now, I give you an example. 00:15:07.30\00:15:09.14 The H5N1 avian influenza virus, 00:15:09.17\00:15:12.34 according to the World Health Organization 00:15:12.37\00:15:15.01 in an outbreak in some areas, 00:15:15.04\00:15:18.11 the avian influenza virus reports of a few human cases 00:15:18.15\00:15:22.08 potentially linked to avian flu 00:15:22.12\00:15:23.85 to the consumption of raw pork, poultry, 00:15:23.89\00:15:26.62 including raw blood based dishes. 00:15:26.65\00:15:29.52 That's right, there are dishes based on blood. 00:15:29.56\00:15:33.40 And some of them you might be surprised, 00:15:33.43\00:15:35.76 pig's blood cake, blood sausage, 00:15:35.80\00:15:38.00 blood pancakes in Sweden, blood soup in Poland, 00:15:38.03\00:15:40.87 deep fried blood pudding on a stick. 00:15:40.90\00:15:43.64 So these things use blood, 00:15:43.67\00:15:45.44 and we encourage you to keep away from those things. 00:15:45.47\00:15:49.74 And there's more about this, 00:15:49.78\00:15:51.11 and I'm sure that God has a spiritual application 00:15:51.15\00:15:53.72 to this as well. 00:15:53.75\00:15:55.08 I love to eat, 00:15:55.12\00:15:56.45 but I'm not touching any of that. 00:15:56.48\00:15:57.82 I can't, I can't do that. 00:15:57.85\00:15:59.39 Pastor Day, we're going to come to you on this one, 00:15:59.42\00:16:02.16 moving along on that. 00:16:02.19\00:16:04.33 "Ryan, the time of tribulation is the seventh, 00:16:04.36\00:16:07.76 seven last plagues, 00:16:07.80\00:16:09.83 are the saved of God going to be affected by these? 00:16:09.86\00:16:12.97 If so, why? 00:16:13.00\00:16:14.34 If not, where will they be to escape them? 00:16:14.37\00:16:17.74 Thank you for answering my previous question. 00:16:17.77\00:16:19.71 It spawned another one." 00:16:19.74\00:16:21.08 This is from Carol out of London. 00:16:21.11\00:16:22.58 All right. Well, thank you so much. 00:16:22.61\00:16:24.78 That was a great question. 00:16:24.81\00:16:26.15 And the simple answer is no, 00:16:26.18\00:16:27.52 God's people will not be affected 00:16:27.55\00:16:30.02 by these plagues. 00:16:30.05\00:16:31.85 And where we get this answer from I believe very clearly, 00:16:31.89\00:16:34.22 if we go to Psalm Chapter 91, 00:16:34.26\00:16:36.36 it tells us very clearly speaking of the righteous, 00:16:36.39\00:16:38.69 those who are full of the Spirit of the Lord, 00:16:38.73\00:16:40.46 those who have adopted and taken on the character, 00:16:40.50\00:16:42.83 the righteous character of God. 00:16:42.86\00:16:44.30 Psalm 91:8-11. 00:16:44.33\00:16:46.30 Notice what the Bible says here. 00:16:46.33\00:16:47.87 It says, "Only with your eyes, shall you behold, 00:16:47.90\00:16:50.41 excuse me, shall you look 00:16:50.44\00:16:51.77 and see the reward of the wicked, 00:16:51.81\00:16:54.18 because you have made the Lord who is my refuge, 00:16:54.21\00:16:57.28 even the Most High, your dwelling place. 00:16:57.31\00:17:00.35 No evil shall befall you, 00:17:00.38\00:17:02.78 nor shall, get this, nor shall any plague, 00:17:02.82\00:17:06.05 come near your dwelling, 00:17:06.09\00:17:08.09 for He shall give His angels charge over you, 00:17:08.12\00:17:11.53 to keep you in all your ways." 00:17:11.56\00:17:14.40 And so in this case my friends, 00:17:14.43\00:17:15.86 the Psalm 91 is testifying to the fact 00:17:15.90\00:17:18.03 that that's a promise from God. 00:17:18.07\00:17:19.60 And we can believe in that promise of God, 00:17:19.63\00:17:21.57 that when these plagues are poured out, 00:17:21.60\00:17:23.81 they are poured out not only on righteous, 00:17:23.84\00:17:26.07 excuse me, not on the righteous, 00:17:26.11\00:17:27.48 but on the unrighteous. 00:17:27.51\00:17:28.91 And where we also clearly get this from 00:17:28.94\00:17:30.51 is if you go study Revelation Chapter 15 and 16, 00:17:30.55\00:17:33.52 and you look into the seven angels, 00:17:33.55\00:17:35.28 who had the seven bowls of the wrath of God, 00:17:35.32\00:17:38.29 and tie that also to Revelation Chapter 14, 14, 15, 16, 00:17:38.32\00:17:42.32 within the context of the third angel's message, 00:17:42.36\00:17:44.73 and with these angels coming 00:17:44.76\00:17:46.09 with these bowls full of the wrath of God 00:17:46.13\00:17:47.60 to pour out on those who, 00:17:47.63\00:17:49.26 who have been worshiping the beast, 00:17:49.30\00:17:52.20 who have worshiped the image 00:17:52.23\00:17:53.57 and who have received the mark of the beast. 00:17:53.60\00:17:56.10 Again, by the time this tribulation 00:17:56.14\00:17:57.74 time period comes, 00:17:57.77\00:17:59.11 probation has closed. 00:17:59.14\00:18:00.48 God's people are sealed with the seal of God. 00:18:00.51\00:18:02.88 And then, of course, the unrighteous are sealed 00:18:02.91\00:18:05.31 with basically the mark of the beast. 00:18:05.35\00:18:07.28 God knows who His genuine believers are 00:18:07.32\00:18:09.35 and who the non-genuine people are. 00:18:09.38\00:18:10.92 And that is why that seven last plagues 00:18:10.95\00:18:12.89 is poured out upon the wicked. 00:18:12.92\00:18:14.26 And you ask, where will the righteous be 00:18:14.29\00:18:16.02 if they're not affected by these? 00:18:16.06\00:18:17.39 I think Isaiah 33:16, gives us a little bit of an indication 00:18:17.43\00:18:21.06 because we know we're going to have 00:18:21.10\00:18:22.43 to flee to the mountains, right? 00:18:22.46\00:18:23.80 Notice what Isaiah 33:16 says, 00:18:23.83\00:18:25.83 "He will dwell on high his place," 00:18:25.87\00:18:27.80 speaking of the righteous by the way, 00:18:27.84\00:18:29.44 "his place of defense will be the fortress of rocks, 00:18:29.47\00:18:33.31 bread will be given him, 00:18:33.34\00:18:34.68 his waters will be sure." 00:18:34.71\00:18:36.64 God is going to protect His people. 00:18:36.68\00:18:38.61 No plague will touch them. 00:18:38.65\00:18:40.48 Amen. 00:18:40.52\00:18:41.85 Amen. Amen. 00:18:41.88\00:18:43.22 "Pastor Rafferty, 00:18:43.25\00:18:44.85 I am really hoping you all can give me some advice. 00:18:44.89\00:18:47.96 I was witnessing to a Muslim brother I know, 00:18:47.99\00:18:51.43 and he was saying that based on Luke 1:17 00:18:51.46\00:18:54.96 and Malachi 4:5-6, 00:18:55.00\00:18:57.80 Christians believe in reincarnation. 00:18:57.83\00:19:00.44 Can you help me to give him a clear interpretation 00:19:00.47\00:19:03.57 of just what these scriptures are saying?" 00:19:03.61\00:19:05.87 This is from Sheldon. 00:19:05.91\00:19:07.31 Well, Sheldon, that was a great question. 00:19:07.34\00:19:10.15 Malachi 4:5 is basically saying, 00:19:10.18\00:19:12.51 "Behold, I will send you Elijah the prophet 00:19:12.55\00:19:14.72 before the coming of the great and dreadful day of the Lord." 00:19:14.75\00:19:18.19 Jesus applies this to John the Baptist in Luke 1:17. 00:19:18.22\00:19:23.49 And that's why your Muslim friend 00:19:23.53\00:19:24.86 is thinking that Christians believe 00:19:24.89\00:19:26.70 in reoccurring, in incarnation, 00:19:26.73\00:19:29.03 but incarnation is the belief that 00:19:29.06\00:19:31.40 a person comes back to this earth 00:19:31.43\00:19:33.23 after death in a different form, 00:19:33.27\00:19:35.14 either higher or lower, 00:19:35.17\00:19:36.50 depending on how they lived in their previous life. 00:19:36.54\00:19:39.44 Now, neither the Bible nor Christians 00:19:39.47\00:19:41.11 in general believe this, 00:19:41.14\00:19:42.48 it is a strongly held belief of the Hindu religion, 00:19:42.51\00:19:45.81 not Christians. 00:19:45.85\00:19:47.18 So the Bible teaches that every human being is unique, 00:19:47.22\00:19:50.99 an individual that is unique, 00:19:51.02\00:19:52.92 who is not duplicated in any other form. 00:19:52.95\00:19:56.29 We live by the breath and the life of God. 00:19:56.32\00:19:59.36 We die and the life force returns to God. 00:19:59.39\00:20:03.20 We resurrect at the voice of Jesus 00:20:03.23\00:20:06.10 in one of two resurrections, 00:20:06.13\00:20:07.47 the resurrection of the righteous 00:20:07.50\00:20:08.84 or the resurrection of the unrighteous 00:20:08.87\00:20:11.01 depending on whether we chose 00:20:11.04\00:20:12.74 to trust in Jesus Christ 00:20:12.77\00:20:14.24 as our Lord and Savior. 00:20:14.28\00:20:15.84 So the truth contained in this text, 00:20:15.88\00:20:18.51 in Malachi Chapter 4 and Luke Chapter 1, 00:20:18.55\00:20:21.52 is that the same spirit that rested upon Elijah, 00:20:21.55\00:20:24.79 which was the Spirit of God, 00:20:24.82\00:20:26.69 also rested upon John the Baptist. 00:20:26.72\00:20:28.72 It was God's Spirit, 00:20:28.76\00:20:30.39 and that is the same spirit 00:20:30.43\00:20:31.96 that John the Baptist had 00:20:31.99\00:20:33.33 when he came to prepare the way of the Lord. 00:20:33.36\00:20:35.56 He did a similar work to the work of Elijah. 00:20:35.60\00:20:38.93 And so it was not man 00:20:38.97\00:20:40.84 but God and His Spirit that was manifest to Malachi, 00:20:40.87\00:20:46.14 or excuse me, yes, and foretold in Malachi, 00:20:46.17\00:20:49.41 manifest through Elijah, 00:20:49.44\00:20:50.78 that was also be manifest through John the Baptist. 00:20:50.81\00:20:53.25 The same spirit rest upon John the Baptist, 00:20:53.28\00:20:55.42 calling people to repentance, 00:20:55.45\00:20:56.79 calling people to understand God and follow God 00:20:56.82\00:20:59.92 during a time of apostasy. 00:20:59.95\00:21:01.59 And this is what's meant by the spirit 00:21:01.62\00:21:04.06 and power of Elijah resting on John the Baptist. 00:21:04.09\00:21:07.96 Wow. 00:21:08.00\00:21:09.33 Thank you for that answer. 00:21:09.36\00:21:10.70 That was a great breakdown there. 00:21:10.73\00:21:12.53 "Pastor Dinzey, did Jesus really go down into hell 00:21:12.57\00:21:16.00 after the cross and free people?" 00:21:16.04\00:21:19.27 Well, that's a very interesting question 00:21:19.31\00:21:20.81 as well. 00:21:20.84\00:21:22.18 And some do think that because of a scripture 00:21:22.21\00:21:25.31 that I will not have time to deal with, 00:21:25.35\00:21:26.82 because I'm dealing with your question here. 00:21:26.85\00:21:29.92 Did Jesus really go down into hell, to preach to people? 00:21:29.95\00:21:33.56 Well, the Bible says in Matthew 16:27, 00:21:33.59\00:21:37.29 "For the Son of man 00:21:37.33\00:21:38.69 will come in the glory of His Father with His angels, 00:21:38.73\00:21:42.16 and then," notice how it says, 00:21:42.20\00:21:43.80 "and then He will reward each according to his works." 00:21:43.83\00:21:48.87 So the people that are in the grave 00:21:48.90\00:21:50.61 now are neither in heaven nor in hell suffering in fire 00:21:50.64\00:21:56.21 because Jesus has not come. 00:21:56.24\00:21:58.51 It's when He comes 00:21:58.55\00:21:59.88 that He gives His reward to people. 00:21:59.91\00:22:03.75 So this is why now I go to John 5:28-29. 00:22:03.79\00:22:08.22 "Do not marvel," said Jesus, "Do not marvel at this, 00:22:08.26\00:22:10.76 for the hour is coming in which all who are in the graves 00:22:10.79\00:22:14.10 will hear His voice, 00:22:14.13\00:22:16.10 and come forth, 00:22:16.13\00:22:17.47 those who have done good to the resurrection of life, 00:22:17.50\00:22:21.27 and those who have done evil 00:22:21.30\00:22:23.17 to the resurrection of condemnation." 00:22:23.20\00:22:26.01 So you see, condemnation comes 00:22:26.04\00:22:28.54 after Jesus returns. 00:22:28.58\00:22:30.95 In Ecclesiastes 9:4, we have the following words, 00:22:30.98\00:22:34.22 "But for him, 00:22:34.25\00:22:35.58 who is joined to all the living, 00:22:35.62\00:22:37.29 there's hope." 00:22:37.32\00:22:38.65 While we are alive, there is hope. 00:22:38.69\00:22:40.52 You can repent. 00:22:40.56\00:22:42.29 But notice how it says, 00:22:42.32\00:22:43.66 "For a living dog is better than a dead lion. 00:22:43.69\00:22:45.49 For the living know that they will die, 00:22:45.53\00:22:48.10 but the dead know nothing, 00:22:48.13\00:22:50.47 and they have no more reward." 00:22:50.50\00:22:51.97 They cannot have the reward of salvation 00:22:52.00\00:22:54.54 because they are dead. 00:22:54.57\00:22:55.90 "For the memory of them is forgotten. 00:22:55.94\00:22:57.41 Also, their love their hatred, 00:22:57.44\00:22:59.04 and their envy have now perished. 00:22:59.07\00:23:01.88 Never more will they have a share 00:23:01.91\00:23:04.21 in anything done under the sun." 00:23:04.25\00:23:05.95 The opportunity for salvation is now 00:23:05.98\00:23:08.65 while we are alive. 00:23:08.68\00:23:10.42 Jesus did not go down to the, 00:23:10.45\00:23:12.65 to hell because hell was not activated. 00:23:12.69\00:23:15.32 Please read Revelation Chapter 21, 00:23:15.36\00:23:17.43 to get a picture of when people are cast 00:23:17.46\00:23:19.49 into the lake of fire, 00:23:19.53\00:23:20.86 and they are, and the wicked perish. 00:23:20.90\00:23:23.03 Revelation 20. 00:23:23.06\00:23:24.40 Revelation 20, thank you very much. 00:23:24.43\00:23:25.77 Yes, Revelation 20. 00:23:25.80\00:23:27.14 Amen. I meant to say that. 00:23:27.17\00:23:28.50 I know what you meant. 00:23:28.54\00:23:29.87 That speaks to the sense of urgency. 00:23:29.90\00:23:31.47 Yes. Praise God. 00:23:31.51\00:23:32.84 Praise God. Amen. 00:23:32.87\00:23:34.21 "Pastor Day, I heard a priest say 00:23:34.24\00:23:35.58 that the Sabbath was changed 00:23:35.61\00:23:36.98 when Jesus entered and said "Peace on Sunday." 00:23:37.01\00:23:40.32 But I see in Luke and John, 00:23:40.35\00:23:42.32 it was night, the day had passed. 00:23:42.35\00:23:44.52 Is that right?" 00:23:44.55\00:23:45.89 This is from Karl out of California. 00:23:45.92\00:23:47.66 Not entirely Karl. 00:23:47.69\00:23:49.42 Let's look back at the Scripture, 00:23:49.46\00:23:50.79 John 20:19-20. 00:23:50.83\00:23:52.79 And when I say not entirely, 00:23:52.83\00:23:54.16 I mean, not at all in one aspect 00:23:54.20\00:23:56.56 and not entirely in another. 00:23:56.60\00:23:57.93 So let's look at John 20:19-20. Let's read that. 00:23:57.97\00:24:01.17 This is the instance 00:24:01.20\00:24:02.54 in which this priest is referring to, 00:24:02.57\00:24:04.04 and it says there, "Then the same day at evening," 00:24:04.07\00:24:06.04 this is Resurrection Sunday, 00:24:06.07\00:24:07.51 "the same day at evening 00:24:07.54\00:24:08.88 being the first day of the week." 00:24:08.91\00:24:10.45 So even though it was still evening, 00:24:10.48\00:24:12.68 and some people consider evening night, 00:24:12.71\00:24:14.38 the first day of the week, 00:24:14.42\00:24:15.75 of course, a biblical day in the Bible 00:24:15.78\00:24:17.22 is from sundown to sundown, 00:24:17.25\00:24:18.82 this was, would have still been on the first day, 00:24:18.85\00:24:21.89 because the Scripture indicates 00:24:21.92\00:24:23.26 that it's on the first day. 00:24:23.29\00:24:24.63 It goes on to say, "When the doors were shut, 00:24:24.66\00:24:26.76 where the disciples were assembled." 00:24:26.80\00:24:28.23 Notice, why were they assembled though? 00:24:28.26\00:24:29.90 For fear of the Jews, it's what it says. 00:24:29.93\00:24:32.33 "For fear of the Jews, 00:24:32.37\00:24:33.80 Jesus came and stood in the midst and said to them, 00:24:33.84\00:24:36.27 'Peace be with you.' 00:24:36.30\00:24:37.87 When He had said this, 00:24:37.91\00:24:39.24 He showed them His hands and His side. 00:24:39.27\00:24:40.61 Then the disciples were glad when they saw the Lord." 00:24:40.64\00:24:43.55 Now let's get to the Sabbath issue. 00:24:43.58\00:24:45.38 Okay, first of all, to answer your first question. 00:24:45.41\00:24:47.35 It was on Sunday, but nowhere in this text does it say, 00:24:47.38\00:24:51.19 does it show Jesus showing up, 00:24:51.22\00:24:52.65 you know, high five and the disciples say. 00:24:52.69\00:24:54.22 Hey, guys, look, we got a new Sabbath day today, 00:24:54.26\00:24:56.86 because you know, I've resurrected on this day 00:24:56.89\00:24:58.76 and nowhere in here even though He says peace be with you, 00:24:58.79\00:25:01.66 does He indicate that there is a transference 00:25:01.70\00:25:04.50 of solemnity or importance of the Sabbath 00:25:04.53\00:25:06.84 from one day to another. 00:25:06.87\00:25:08.20 In this case, the reason why 00:25:08.24\00:25:09.57 He's saying peace be with you 00:25:09.60\00:25:10.94 is what it says in that previous part of the verse. 00:25:10.97\00:25:12.94 For fear of the Jews, they were gathered together. 00:25:12.97\00:25:14.88 These brothers and sisters were gathered together, 00:25:14.91\00:25:16.64 scared for their life. 00:25:16.68\00:25:18.05 They were thinking that the same Jews 00:25:18.08\00:25:19.75 that murdered Jesus on the cross 00:25:19.78\00:25:21.68 were going to be after them. 00:25:21.72\00:25:23.05 And so Jesus enters 00:25:23.08\00:25:24.42 because there's a bunch of shaking terrified Jews 00:25:24.45\00:25:26.15 in this room. 00:25:26.19\00:25:27.52 And so Jesus shows up and says, "Hey, look, peace be with you." 00:25:27.56\00:25:30.09 And in fact, in another part of the verse or the passage, 00:25:30.13\00:25:33.09 it says that He actually breathed on them. 00:25:33.13\00:25:35.53 And they received the Holy Spirit, 00:25:35.56\00:25:37.03 they were comforted by Jesus. 00:25:37.07\00:25:38.80 So we have to allow the Bible, 00:25:38.83\00:25:41.34 we take the Bible for what it says. 00:25:41.37\00:25:43.10 In this case for any priest or any minister, 00:25:43.14\00:25:45.71 and I've heard many people do this, 00:25:45.74\00:25:47.08 they take passages, 00:25:47.11\00:25:48.44 they twist them and manipulate the text to say 00:25:48.48\00:25:50.78 what they want it to say. 00:25:50.81\00:25:52.21 They're practicing an I, you know, what's called I say 00:25:52.25\00:25:54.98 Jesus adding to the text what's not there. 00:25:55.02\00:25:57.42 We won't allow the text to say what it says. 00:25:57.45\00:25:59.22 And in this case, there's no mention 00:25:59.25\00:26:00.96 of the transferring or changing of God's Holy Day. 00:26:00.99\00:26:03.53 Sunday, Sunday, it's a work day. 00:26:03.56\00:26:05.43 The Sabbath is the seventh day of the week, Saturday. 00:26:05.46\00:26:08.16 Amen. 00:26:08.20\00:26:09.53 There is a lot of misinformation out there. 00:26:09.56\00:26:10.97 Thank you for clarifying that. 00:26:11.00\00:26:12.50 Pastor Rafferty, I think your faith 00:26:12.53\00:26:14.70 is going to light up on this one. 00:26:14.74\00:26:18.04 "Kindly explain Revelation Chapter 4?" 00:26:18.07\00:26:20.28 Revelation, Revelation, Revelation. 00:26:20.31\00:26:22.94 Revelation Chapter 4 is the second of four cycles, 00:26:22.98\00:26:27.02 prophetic cycles in the Book of Revelation. 00:26:27.05\00:26:28.95 There is the seven churches, the seven seals, 00:26:28.98\00:26:30.75 the seven trumpets and the seven last plagues. 00:26:30.79\00:26:32.89 And each one of these 00:26:32.92\00:26:34.26 begins with a setting of the apostolic age. 00:26:34.29\00:26:37.29 This one begins with the throne of God 00:26:37.33\00:26:39.26 being established in Revelation 4:2, 00:26:39.29\00:26:42.83 "Immediately I was in the spirit, 00:26:42.86\00:26:44.20 and behold, a throne was set in heaven, 00:26:44.23\00:26:46.10 and One who sat on the throne. 00:26:46.13\00:26:47.47 And he was to look upon like a jasper and a sardine stone, 00:26:47.50\00:26:50.37 and there was a rainbow around his throne, 00:26:50.41\00:26:52.21 in sight like us to unto an emerald." 00:26:52.24\00:26:54.28 So God's throne is established. 00:26:54.31\00:26:55.78 We know this, because Jesus is resurrected. 00:26:55.81\00:26:58.81 He's accomplished our salvation, 00:26:58.85\00:27:00.18 the great controversy in a sense 00:27:00.22\00:27:02.55 has been ended by the life and death of Jesus Christ. 00:27:02.58\00:27:05.69 Now it continues because we need, 00:27:05.72\00:27:07.49 human beings need to respond 00:27:07.52\00:27:08.96 to what Christ has accomplished for us. 00:27:08.99\00:27:10.39 But in heaven, 00:27:10.43\00:27:11.76 it's over according to Revelation Chapter 12. 00:27:11.79\00:27:13.56 Satan no longer has access to heaven, 00:27:13.60\00:27:15.86 he can no longer deceive, or falsify God, 00:27:15.90\00:27:19.10 misrepresent God in the heavenly realms, 00:27:19.13\00:27:20.90 in the heavenly universe. 00:27:20.94\00:27:22.27 So God's throne is established, 00:27:22.30\00:27:23.64 is established on justice and mercy, 00:27:23.67\00:27:25.84 is established by the Lamb 00:27:25.87\00:27:27.21 that is revealed in Revelation Chapter 5. 00:27:27.24\00:27:29.08 But it goes on to describe these 24 elders 00:27:29.11\00:27:31.48 that are around the throne on these seats. 00:27:31.51\00:27:33.68 And it says that they're clothed 00:27:33.72\00:27:35.05 with white raiment 00:27:35.08\00:27:36.42 and they have crowns of gold on their head. 00:27:36.45\00:27:37.79 These are all the things that have been promised 00:27:37.82\00:27:41.12 to the overcomers in the seven churches. 00:27:41.16\00:27:43.56 So the overcomers have been given the promise 00:27:43.59\00:27:45.56 of sitting on a throne with Christ, 00:27:45.59\00:27:46.93 they've been given a promise of having white robes, 00:27:46.96\00:27:49.13 they've been given a promise of having crowns 00:27:49.16\00:27:51.77 of victory on their heads. 00:27:51.80\00:27:53.44 And all of these promises are given to the 24 elders, 00:27:53.47\00:27:57.74 I believe these 24 elders 00:27:57.77\00:27:59.17 who have never been seen before, 00:27:59.21\00:28:00.68 they haven't been seen 00:28:00.71\00:28:02.04 in the throne scene in Revelation 00:28:02.08\00:28:03.41 or in Isaiah Chapter 6 and Daniel Chapter 7 00:28:03.45\00:28:05.21 and Ezekiel Chapter 1 or 10. 00:28:05.25\00:28:07.15 All of these throne scenes are minus the elders, 00:28:07.18\00:28:10.72 we see them now. 00:28:10.75\00:28:12.29 Because with the promise is given to the seven churches, 00:28:12.32\00:28:15.12 because these elders represent those who are redeemed, 00:28:15.16\00:28:18.13 and we see a small group of people 00:28:18.16\00:28:20.16 that Christ brought with Him 00:28:20.20\00:28:21.53 from the grave when He went to heaven, 00:28:21.56\00:28:22.90 I believe these are the 24 elders, 00:28:22.93\00:28:24.83 that are here depicted for the first time 00:28:24.87\00:28:27.30 in the throne scene in Revelation Chapter 6. 00:28:27.34\00:28:29.84 And then it goes on to describe the four living creatures. 00:28:29.87\00:28:32.71 These four living creatures are the same 00:28:32.74\00:28:34.58 as we see in Ezekiel Chapter 1, 00:28:34.61\00:28:37.08 in Isaiah Chapter 6. 00:28:37.11\00:28:38.58 They are angel seraphim, cherubim. 00:28:38.61\00:28:41.05 They have these characteristics of an eagle and a man etc, 00:28:41.08\00:28:46.12 because an ox, 00:28:46.15\00:28:47.49 because these are the characteristics 00:28:47.52\00:28:48.86 of the angels that serve us, 00:28:48.89\00:28:50.46 that fly swiftly, 00:28:50.49\00:28:51.89 that come sometimes as men or human beings on earth. 00:28:51.93\00:28:55.03 And these angels along with the 24 elders 00:28:55.06\00:28:57.73 who represent all the redeemed are praising God. 00:28:57.77\00:28:59.87 They're saying, Holy, Holy, Holy, 00:28:59.90\00:29:02.00 Father, Son, Holy Spirit, Holy, Holy, Holy 00:29:02.04\00:29:04.61 is the Lord God of heaven and earth. 00:29:04.64\00:29:07.28 They're praising God and they're giving Him glory, 00:29:07.31\00:29:09.44 because He's the creator, 00:29:09.48\00:29:10.81 and He is the sustainer of all things. 00:29:10.85\00:29:12.78 So this is a beautiful introduction 00:29:12.81\00:29:15.58 to the seven seals. 00:29:15.62\00:29:16.99 It prepares us for the Lamb that is slain 00:29:17.02\00:29:19.32 from the foundation of the earth 00:29:19.35\00:29:20.69 that is going to be revealed to us 00:29:20.72\00:29:22.26 in Revelation Chapter 5, 00:29:22.29\00:29:24.33 confirming God's throne being established, 00:29:24.36\00:29:26.49 confirming the 24 elders. 00:29:26.53\00:29:27.96 And then, of course, we go to the rest. 00:29:28.00\00:29:29.33 Salvation in Symbols and Signs, 00:29:29.36\00:29:30.77 we have a whole series on Revelation 00:29:30.80\00:29:32.27 and you can get a lot more details 00:29:32.30\00:29:34.14 if you want to know more about Revelation Chapter 4. 00:29:34.17\00:29:36.27 Amen. 00:29:36.30\00:29:37.64 You got bonus points for that by the way. 00:29:37.67\00:29:40.31 Absolutely. 00:29:40.34\00:29:41.94 "Pastor Dinzey, 00:29:41.98\00:29:43.31 I've been watching today Bible Q and A, 00:29:43.35\00:29:46.11 and have decided to start reading the Bible 00:29:46.15\00:29:48.45 starting from the Book of John, 00:29:48.48\00:29:50.52 as Pastor Dinzey had suggested 00:29:50.55\00:29:52.49 from the previous program. 00:29:52.52\00:29:53.96 I am confused already from the very first chapter. 00:29:53.99\00:29:57.06 What does it mean when it says, 00:29:57.09\00:29:58.49 "The Word was God?" 00:29:58.53\00:29:59.86 This is in verse 1. 00:29:59.89\00:30:01.23 "And the Word became a human being." 00:30:01.26\00:30:04.63 Does that mean that Jesus was like letters? 00:30:04.67\00:30:07.10 It's a foolish question, I know, but I don't care. 00:30:07.14\00:30:09.64 I'm still going to ask it anyway, 00:30:09.67\00:30:11.54 because I want to know the truth. 00:30:11.57\00:30:13.61 Amen. 00:30:13.64\00:30:14.98 Rosa, I want to commend you for studying the Bible. 00:30:15.01\00:30:18.15 Great blessings are in store as you read God's Word. 00:30:18.18\00:30:21.85 In John 1:1-2, "In the beginning was the Word 00:30:21.88\00:30:25.05 and the Word was with God, 00:30:25.09\00:30:26.45 and the Word was God." 00:30:26.49\00:30:28.29 He was in the beginning with God. 00:30:28.32\00:30:30.16 It's talking about Jesus. 00:30:30.19\00:30:32.06 This is the Greek word logos. 00:30:32.09\00:30:34.13 And it means, the word it means a declaration. 00:30:34.16\00:30:37.07 It means a message, the saying, even the very thoughts. 00:30:37.10\00:30:40.57 So what does this mean? 00:30:40.60\00:30:41.94 And it says in John 1:14, 00:30:41.97\00:30:43.71 "And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us 00:30:43.74\00:30:46.07 and we beheld His glory, the glory 00:30:46.11\00:30:48.48 as of the only begotten of the Father, 00:30:48.51\00:30:50.78 full of grace and truth." 00:30:50.81\00:30:53.01 Jesus is the manifestation in the flesh. 00:30:53.05\00:30:58.49 He became flesh. 00:30:58.52\00:30:59.85 He was God, became flesh and He wanted to show us 00:30:59.89\00:31:05.19 what God is like. 00:31:05.23\00:31:07.63 He was a declaration. 00:31:07.66\00:31:09.00 He was the word living among us. 00:31:09.03\00:31:14.17 Jesus has been given many titles, 00:31:14.20\00:31:16.27 and not one single title 00:31:16.30\00:31:19.27 or description really can give us 00:31:19.31\00:31:22.68 the all marvelous beauty for character of the Lord. 00:31:22.71\00:31:26.78 He's called the bread of life, in John Chapter 6, 00:31:26.82\00:31:29.85 the light of the world in John Chapter 8, 00:31:29.88\00:31:31.72 the gate for the sheep in John Chapter 10, 00:31:31.75\00:31:33.82 the Good Shepherd, John Chapter 10, 00:31:33.86\00:31:35.76 the resurrection and the life, John Chapter 11, 00:31:35.79\00:31:38.23 the way, the truth and the life, 00:31:38.26\00:31:39.66 John Chapter 14, the true vine, John Chapter 15, 00:31:39.69\00:31:42.86 the Lamb of God, in John Chapter 1, 00:31:42.90\00:31:45.63 and the true light that lights every man, 00:31:45.67\00:31:48.14 and every person, 00:31:48.17\00:31:49.60 and many other titles given to Jesus, 00:31:49.64\00:31:51.91 but what about this word. 00:31:51.94\00:31:53.31 It's the Greek word logos, and like I said, 00:31:53.34\00:31:55.31 it means something said, 00:31:55.34\00:31:56.68 a communication and including thought. 00:31:56.71\00:31:59.15 Jesus is God's thought made audible. 00:31:59.18\00:32:02.45 And notice how it says in John 1:18, 00:32:02.48\00:32:05.65 "No one has seen God at any time, 00:32:05.69\00:32:07.39 the only begotten Son, 00:32:07.42\00:32:09.22 who's in the bosom of the Father, 00:32:09.26\00:32:11.09 He has declared him." 00:32:11.13\00:32:13.33 So in Jesus, we see what God is like. 00:32:13.36\00:32:16.73 God is love, 00:32:16.77\00:32:18.10 and He came to reveal that love to humanity. 00:32:18.13\00:32:21.37 And He is not letters. 00:32:21.40\00:32:22.84 He is the message of salvation for humanity. 00:32:22.87\00:32:26.41 Amen. Amen. 00:32:26.44\00:32:27.78 I'm thankful He is who He is. 00:32:27.81\00:32:29.14 Amen. 00:32:29.18\00:32:30.51 "Pastor Day, can you please explain 00:32:30.55\00:32:31.88 the parables in Luke 5:36-39?" 00:32:31.91\00:32:35.15 This is from Diane out of Pennsylvania. 00:32:35.18\00:32:36.52 Absolutely. 00:32:36.55\00:32:37.89 Let's go ahead and read through these really quickly. 00:32:37.92\00:32:39.25 And then we'll provide some answers behind this. 00:32:39.29\00:32:41.26 I'm going to start reading actually in verse 33. 00:32:41.29\00:32:43.36 Because in order to understand verses 36 to 39, 00:32:43.39\00:32:45.76 you got to back up and get context. 00:32:45.79\00:32:47.46 So verse 33, it says, "Then they said to Him," 00:32:47.50\00:32:49.46 this is the Pharisee, speaking to Christ. 00:32:49.50\00:32:51.47 "Then they said to Him, 00:32:51.50\00:32:52.83 'Why do the disciples of John fast often to make prayers, 00:32:52.87\00:32:55.14 and likewise those of the Pharisees, 00:32:55.17\00:32:57.44 but Yours eat and drink?' 00:32:57.47\00:32:59.34 And He said to them, 00:32:59.37\00:33:00.71 'Can you make the friends of the bridegroom fast 00:33:00.74\00:33:02.38 while the bridegroom is with them? 00:33:02.41\00:33:04.38 But the days will come when the bridegroom 00:33:04.41\00:33:06.25 will be taken away from them, 00:33:06.28\00:33:07.65 then they will fast in those days.'" 00:33:07.68\00:33:10.02 And then He brings about these parables. 00:33:10.05\00:33:11.82 "Then He spoke a parable to them saying, 00:33:11.85\00:33:13.19 'No one puts a piece 00:33:13.22\00:33:14.56 from a new garment on an old one, 00:33:14.59\00:33:16.12 otherwise the new makes a tear, 00:33:16.16\00:33:18.49 and also the piece that was taken out of the new 00:33:18.53\00:33:20.93 does not match the old. 00:33:20.96\00:33:22.76 And no one puts new wine into old wineskins, 00:33:22.80\00:33:25.77 or else the new wine will burst the wineskins and be spilled, 00:33:25.80\00:33:28.60 and the wineskins will be ruined. 00:33:28.64\00:33:30.17 But new wine must be put into new wineskins, 00:33:30.21\00:33:32.21 and both are preserved." 00:33:32.24\00:33:33.58 What Christ is actually doing, 00:33:33.61\00:33:34.94 this is based on the context of this exchange 00:33:34.98\00:33:37.25 that He's having between Himself and the Pharisees. 00:33:37.28\00:33:39.95 And the Pharisees show up and they're like, hey, 00:33:39.98\00:33:41.32 look, we're over here. 00:33:41.35\00:33:42.68 We're fasting, you know, once, twice a week, 00:33:42.72\00:33:45.12 every single day and Your disciples over here 00:33:45.15\00:33:47.29 just eating and drinking. 00:33:47.32\00:33:48.66 And Jesus said, "Look, I'm the bridegroom." 00:33:48.69\00:33:50.03 He identifies Himself as the Messiah, 00:33:50.06\00:33:52.29 as the bridegroom and the Savior of the world. 00:33:52.33\00:33:54.70 But here's where the exchange comes 00:33:54.73\00:33:57.30 that helps to clarify these parables. 00:33:57.33\00:33:59.37 Jesus basically is describing 00:33:59.40\00:34:01.80 the difference between the way of the Pharisees 00:34:01.84\00:34:04.27 and His fresh new perspective on the gospel 00:34:04.31\00:34:08.18 that He is bringing for salvation. 00:34:08.21\00:34:10.28 Notice, it's about fasting. 00:34:10.31\00:34:11.78 Moses had given instruction back in the Old Testament, 00:34:11.81\00:34:14.72 that encouraging the people to fast at least once a year, 00:34:14.75\00:34:17.82 but by the time we get to Jesus' time, the Pharisees, 00:34:17.85\00:34:20.59 which is where we get the idea of you know, 00:34:20.62\00:34:22.16 don't be pharisaical, don't be, 00:34:22.19\00:34:23.83 don't have a works approach to salvation. 00:34:23.86\00:34:25.33 These brothers and sisters were fasting twice a week 00:34:25.36\00:34:27.73 and the motivation behind that fasting wasn't, 00:34:27.76\00:34:29.86 you know, necessarily for health or for spirituality. 00:34:29.90\00:34:32.23 It was basically a works approach to salvation, 00:34:32.27\00:34:34.90 the idea that somehow they can appease God, 00:34:34.94\00:34:37.21 make God think that they're holier 00:34:37.24\00:34:39.04 and that they're more pious 00:34:39.07\00:34:40.44 and they're more zealous for the good holy things of God 00:34:40.48\00:34:43.14 that we'll just make God happy if we fast more. 00:34:43.18\00:34:45.51 It was a works approach to salvation. 00:34:45.55\00:34:47.45 Jesus by saying, "Look, no one takes 00:34:47.48\00:34:49.52 an old garment a new one and puts it together. 00:34:49.55\00:34:51.35 It don't work." 00:34:51.39\00:34:52.72 Because, you know, these, if especially 00:34:52.75\00:34:54.09 if it's not preshrunk, 00:34:54.12\00:34:55.46 and you put these things together, 00:34:55.49\00:34:56.83 they're going to tear 00:34:56.86\00:34:58.19 and it's going to be worse off before it was, 00:34:58.23\00:34:59.56 you know, worse off afterwards before it was before. 00:34:59.59\00:35:01.40 And also with the new wines, 00:35:01.43\00:35:02.76 no one puts the new wine into old wineskins 00:35:02.80\00:35:05.33 because the old wineskins have already been stretched, 00:35:05.37\00:35:08.30 they've become brittle, 00:35:08.34\00:35:09.67 they've been worn down in the hot heat of the sun. 00:35:09.70\00:35:12.14 And so now you put the new wine in the new wineskins 00:35:12.17\00:35:15.61 and the old wine in the old wineskins. 00:35:15.64\00:35:17.38 What Christ is saying 00:35:17.41\00:35:18.75 is the new and the old can't be mixed. 00:35:18.78\00:35:20.78 What Christ is bringing is a fresh, 00:35:20.82\00:35:23.22 new, beautiful approach to the gospel. 00:35:23.25\00:35:25.55 Not that He's recreating, but He's saying the old, 00:35:25.59\00:35:28.02 the way of the Pharisees that's like an old, 00:35:28.06\00:35:29.89 brittle, stretched, you know, non, 00:35:29.92\00:35:33.36 can't be used old wineskin. 00:35:33.40\00:35:35.26 Get that out of the way, 00:35:35.30\00:35:36.63 because that way that old way 00:35:36.67\00:35:38.00 of the Old Covenant doesn't work. 00:35:38.03\00:35:39.37 Christ is bringing the new perspective, 00:35:39.40\00:35:40.74 the New Covenant, 00:35:40.77\00:35:42.10 salvation through Christ and Christ alone. 00:35:42.14\00:35:43.97 Amen. 00:35:44.01\00:35:45.34 That almost reminds me of baptism, 00:35:45.37\00:35:46.71 leaving the old man behind. 00:35:46.74\00:35:48.08 That's right. That's right. 00:35:48.11\00:35:49.44 And entering into the newness through Christ Jesus. 00:35:49.48\00:35:51.35 "Pastor Rafferty, 00:35:51.38\00:35:52.71 I was studying in a Sabbath School 00:35:52.75\00:35:54.08 lesson recently and became confused. 00:35:54.12\00:35:56.92 It states that a man had to sacrifice 00:35:56.95\00:35:59.95 an animal for his sins. 00:35:59.99\00:36:01.79 Every time I study this, I'm baffled. 00:36:01.82\00:36:04.19 Is this on a daily basis, or is it a once a year thing? 00:36:04.23\00:36:08.03 It makes me... 00:36:08.06\00:36:09.40 It makes one wonder how often this was done, 00:36:09.43\00:36:11.73 because we sinned more often than we would like. 00:36:11.77\00:36:14.34 If I were a farmer, I'd soon be out of livestock. 00:36:14.37\00:36:17.77 The priest would also be exhausted. 00:36:17.81\00:36:20.04 I'm so glad Jesus put an end to it. 00:36:20.08\00:36:22.74 Can you please shine some light on this?" 00:36:22.78\00:36:25.21 Well, absolutely. 00:36:25.25\00:36:26.58 The texts that I want us to look at for this question 00:36:26.61\00:36:29.38 are found in Isaiah 1:10-11. 00:36:29.42\00:36:33.42 I just want to say that God feels 00:36:33.46\00:36:35.12 exactly the same way you feel. 00:36:35.16\00:36:36.73 You're actually eliciting or sharing God's thoughts, 00:36:36.76\00:36:41.23 as they're revealed here in Isaiah 1:10-11. 00:36:41.26\00:36:44.83 "Hear, the word of the Lord, you rulers of Sodom, 00:36:44.87\00:36:48.34 and hear and give ear unto the Lord, 00:36:48.37\00:36:51.04 our God, you people of Gomorrah, 00:36:51.07\00:36:53.48 the law of our God, you people of Gomorrah. 00:36:53.51\00:36:55.48 To what purpose is the multitude 00:36:55.51\00:36:57.38 of your sacrifices unto me? 00:36:57.41\00:36:58.91 Saith the Lord, 00:36:58.95\00:37:00.28 I am full of burnt offerings of rams, 00:37:00.32\00:37:02.55 and the fat of fed beasts, 00:37:02.58\00:37:04.52 and delight not in the blood of bullocks, 00:37:04.55\00:37:06.96 or of lambs, or if he goats." 00:37:06.99\00:37:08.76 And you can read the rest of this section here. 00:37:08.79\00:37:11.03 It's just bringing the same point 00:37:11.06\00:37:12.76 that God is making here. 00:37:12.79\00:37:14.13 And that is, these sacrifices were supposed to lead people 00:37:14.16\00:37:17.10 away from sin. 00:37:17.13\00:37:18.47 They weren't supposed to have people, 00:37:18.50\00:37:20.24 you know, use them as a means of sinning. 00:37:20.27\00:37:23.20 And that's exactly what happened 00:37:23.24\00:37:24.57 with the Jewish nation. 00:37:24.61\00:37:25.94 You know, you can imagine what it would be like 00:37:25.97\00:37:27.81 if you have a pet animal of some kind, a dog or a cat. 00:37:27.84\00:37:31.58 If you sinned, and the consequences of that 00:37:31.61\00:37:34.02 sin was that you had to take that animal, 00:37:34.05\00:37:36.18 put your hand on the head, 00:37:36.22\00:37:37.82 confess your sins on animals and cut its throat. 00:37:37.85\00:37:40.82 And you would think that's terrible. 00:37:40.86\00:37:42.79 That was the point. 00:37:42.82\00:37:44.16 And it wasn't God that was instigating this, 00:37:44.19\00:37:47.16 it was sin that brought this calamity, 00:37:47.20\00:37:49.56 because sin results in death 00:37:49.60\00:37:51.40 and God was showing this is what sin does. 00:37:51.43\00:37:53.27 Sin destroys. Sin kills. 00:37:53.30\00:37:55.37 And so it was never God's purpose, 00:37:55.40\00:37:57.37 that they would make some kind of business 00:37:57.41\00:37:59.71 out of sacrificing animals like 00:37:59.74\00:38:01.34 we've made a business 00:38:01.38\00:38:02.71 out of sacrifice animals for our food, for eating. 00:38:02.74\00:38:05.91 God, the animal sacrifices pointed to Jesus 00:38:05.95\00:38:09.08 and they revealed the consequences 00:38:09.12\00:38:11.82 of our sin on God Himself. 00:38:11.85\00:38:13.99 And the sacrifice therefore, 00:38:14.02\00:38:15.62 these animals was to touch our hearts, 00:38:15.66\00:38:19.73 to help us to realize the pain and the suffering, 00:38:19.76\00:38:22.56 that sin brings upon the heart of God by experiencing the pain 00:38:22.60\00:38:25.67 and suffering that sin brings to these animals 00:38:25.70\00:38:28.27 because in Hebrew times in Israel, 00:38:28.30\00:38:30.41 in the Old Testament times, 00:38:30.44\00:38:32.11 a lot of their livestock were like pets to them. 00:38:32.14\00:38:34.71 They were very close and connected to these pets. 00:38:34.74\00:38:36.95 So definitely, God does empathize 00:38:36.98\00:38:40.32 and sympathize with your feelings on this. 00:38:40.35\00:38:42.38 He definitely wants the end of all this, 00:38:42.42\00:38:45.42 the sacrifice of animals 00:38:45.45\00:38:46.79 when you come into the New Testament times 00:38:46.82\00:38:48.72 and Jesus fulfills that. 00:38:48.76\00:38:50.09 But He also wants to end our sin 00:38:50.13\00:38:51.63 which hurts Christ's heart again and again. 00:38:51.66\00:38:55.16 That was an excellent question and an excellent answer, 00:38:55.20\00:38:57.63 Pastor Rafferty. 00:38:57.67\00:38:59.00 Pastor Dinzey, I want to go to you now. 00:38:59.03\00:39:01.44 This is actually from our 3ABN+ chat, 00:39:01.47\00:39:06.24 3ABN+ for those of you that don't know. 00:39:06.27\00:39:08.84 You can go to 3abnplus.tv 00:39:08.88\00:39:11.38 And you can have access to previous programs, 00:39:11.41\00:39:14.62 you can pause, you can rewind, 00:39:14.65\00:39:16.75 you can stop and take notes, all of those things. 00:39:16.79\00:39:19.69 So make sure you visit 3abnplus.tv 00:39:19.72\00:39:22.76 to watch more today Bible Q and A's and take notes 00:39:22.79\00:39:26.13 because I know that this is moving 00:39:26.16\00:39:27.60 by very, very fast, 00:39:27.63\00:39:29.70 and they're trying to answer questions 00:39:29.73\00:39:31.40 in two minutes or three minutes, 00:39:31.43\00:39:33.17 and you might miss something. 00:39:33.20\00:39:34.54 So go to 3abnplus.tv 00:39:34.57\00:39:36.71 shameless plug there. 00:39:36.74\00:39:38.07 Pastor Dinzey, we will go to this question here. 00:39:38.11\00:39:41.14 "In a previous program, someone asked 00:39:41.18\00:39:43.28 if you can be baptized without joining a church. 00:39:43.31\00:39:46.75 The answer was not clear to me. 00:39:46.78\00:39:48.42 According to Acts 8:35-39, 00:39:48.45\00:39:52.12 the eunuch was baptized by Philip 00:39:52.15\00:39:54.46 and I didn't see in the Bible that he joined the church. 00:39:54.49\00:39:57.23 Please explain. Thank you." 00:39:57.26\00:39:59.73 Well, people can have that type of view 00:39:59.76\00:40:02.43 and hurt themselves spiritually, 00:40:02.46\00:40:04.10 because when God's people come together, 00:40:04.13\00:40:07.64 God does wonderful things. 00:40:07.67\00:40:09.07 They're singing and praising God together. 00:40:09.10\00:40:11.54 And God's people are edified as they hear 00:40:11.57\00:40:14.94 how the Lord has worked in the lives of others. 00:40:14.98\00:40:17.65 I believe that what you're looking at is that 00:40:17.68\00:40:20.35 the Bible doesn't tell us 00:40:20.38\00:40:21.98 everything that happened afterward. 00:40:22.02\00:40:24.32 What did the eunuch do? 00:40:24.35\00:40:25.69 Did he just go about his business, 00:40:25.72\00:40:27.52 did he just forget about what he learned and he, 00:40:27.56\00:40:30.63 that his life was transformed? 00:40:30.66\00:40:33.09 The Bible does not follow him 00:40:33.13\00:40:35.06 completely to tell us what he did. 00:40:35.10\00:40:37.70 But surely, he did what Jesus said 00:40:37.73\00:40:40.40 in Matthew 28:19-20. 00:40:40.44\00:40:43.17 Jesus said, "Go therefore, 00:40:43.20\00:40:45.24 and make disciples of all the nations, 00:40:45.27\00:40:47.78 baptizing them in the name of the Father, 00:40:47.81\00:40:49.51 and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost, 00:40:49.54\00:40:50.95 and the Holy Spirit, 00:40:50.98\00:40:52.31 teaching them to observe all things 00:40:52.35\00:40:53.68 that I have commanded you. 00:40:53.72\00:40:55.05 And lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age. 00:40:55.08\00:40:57.65 Amen." 00:40:57.69\00:40:59.02 Someone that is baptized, 00:40:59.05\00:41:00.39 someone that has learned that you can be forgiven, 00:41:00.42\00:41:03.89 and that you can be a candidate for heaven, 00:41:03.93\00:41:06.70 you can have eternal life. 00:41:06.73\00:41:08.43 You want to share the good news with others 00:41:08.46\00:41:10.17 so that they can too experience the joy of salvation. 00:41:10.20\00:41:13.90 This man could not be quiet. 00:41:13.94\00:41:16.04 I'm sure he shared the Gospel 00:41:16.07\00:41:17.97 of Jesus Christ with other people, 00:41:18.01\00:41:20.08 and perhaps started forming small groups 00:41:20.11\00:41:22.54 and probably became a church. 00:41:22.58\00:41:23.91 Now this is just me, considering what one would do 00:41:23.95\00:41:27.42 because this is what God's people should do, 00:41:27.45\00:41:29.58 spread the good news of salvation. 00:41:29.62\00:41:31.69 And notice in 1 Corinthians 12:13, 00:41:31.72\00:41:34.56 "For by one Spirit, 00:41:34.59\00:41:35.92 we were all baptized into one body. 00:41:35.96\00:41:38.03 If you're baptized, you're baptized into one body, 00:41:38.06\00:41:40.40 whether Jews or Greeks, 00:41:40.43\00:41:41.76 whether slaves or free, 00:41:41.80\00:41:43.13 and have all been made to drink into one Spirit." 00:41:43.16\00:41:45.93 I continue in 1 Corinthians 12:11, 00:41:45.97\00:41:49.80 and it says, "And He Himself gave some to be apostles, 00:41:49.84\00:41:52.37 some prophets, and some evangelists 00:41:52.41\00:41:54.61 and some pastors and teachers," why? 00:41:54.64\00:41:56.78 "For the equipping of the saints, 00:41:56.81\00:41:58.65 for the work of ministry, 00:41:58.68\00:42:00.48 for the edifying of the body of Christ, 00:42:00.52\00:42:02.88 till we all come to the unity of the faith 00:42:02.92\00:42:05.92 and the knowledge of the Son of God, 00:42:05.95\00:42:08.09 to be a perfect man to the measure of the stature 00:42:08.12\00:42:11.56 and fullness of Christ." 00:42:11.59\00:42:13.03 One who is baptized 00:42:13.06\00:42:14.43 will want to share the good news 00:42:14.46\00:42:16.56 and be a part of God's family 00:42:16.60\00:42:19.20 and spread the good news 00:42:19.23\00:42:20.57 as far and wide as he can or she can. 00:42:20.60\00:42:22.54 Amen. You can't help it. 00:42:22.57\00:42:24.84 You can't help just get motivated to go. 00:42:24.87\00:42:27.41 That's right. Blessing is on the go. 00:42:27.44\00:42:29.24 Let's ask Pastor Ryan Day. 00:42:29.28\00:42:31.58 "Please clarify why Daniel Chapter 9 00:42:31.61\00:42:34.15 talks about 62 weeks 00:42:34.18\00:42:35.72 until the Messiah's work began, 00:42:35.75\00:42:37.55 the Anointed One. 00:42:37.59\00:42:39.02 Yet we know that took place at 69 weeks in 27 AD, 00:42:39.05\00:42:44.33 the beginning of Jesus' 00:42:44.36\00:42:45.69 three and a half years of ministry, 00:42:45.73\00:42:47.86 which ended in 31 AD. 00:42:47.90\00:42:50.10 Why does it say 62 weeks in the Bible 00:42:50.13\00:42:53.03 when we know it was 69 weeks 00:42:53.07\00:42:55.10 by the time Jesus was baptized?" 00:42:55.14\00:42:57.67 This is from Meyer Marilla. 00:42:57.71\00:43:00.81 All right, that's a great question. 00:43:00.84\00:43:02.28 I once had that question. 00:43:02.31\00:43:03.81 And I know many people have asked that question. 00:43:03.85\00:43:06.48 So let's go to Daniel 9, we start reading in verse 25. 00:43:06.51\00:43:09.05 The answer is actually implied in the text 00:43:09.08\00:43:11.12 if you understand the history behind it. 00:43:11.15\00:43:12.99 But Daniel 9:25, says, 00:43:13.02\00:43:16.02 "Know therefore and understand 00:43:16.06\00:43:17.69 that from the going forth of the command 00:43:17.73\00:43:19.59 to restore and build Jerusalem 00:43:19.63\00:43:21.83 until Messiah the Prince, 00:43:21.86\00:43:23.37 there shall be," 00:43:23.40\00:43:24.73 and here's the reference you're referencing to, 00:43:24.77\00:43:26.10 "seven weeks and sixty-two weeks, 00:43:26.13\00:43:28.30 the street shall be built again, 00:43:28.34\00:43:29.77 and the wall, even in trouble sometimes." 00:43:29.80\00:43:31.77 Now many people stop right there 00:43:31.81\00:43:33.14 but there's a continuance in the next verse. 00:43:33.17\00:43:35.04 "And after the sixty-two weeks," 00:43:35.08\00:43:37.08 and this is where the confusion comes in. 00:43:37.11\00:43:38.71 "After the sixty-two weeks, Messiah shall be cut off, 00:43:38.75\00:43:41.22 but not for Himself." 00:43:41.25\00:43:42.85 And so to understand this, 00:43:42.88\00:43:44.22 we know that Christ did come 69 weeks, 00:43:44.25\00:43:47.19 or the end of 69 weeks 00:43:47.22\00:43:49.22 into this 70 weeks prophecy of Daniel Chapter 9. 00:43:49.26\00:43:52.69 So why does it seem to imply in verse 26, 00:43:52.73\00:43:54.83 that He comes after the 62 weeks? 00:43:54.86\00:43:57.13 Because if you do the math correctly, 00:43:57.17\00:43:59.23 you have to include the seven weeks 00:43:59.27\00:44:00.70 before the 62 weeks, 00:44:00.74\00:44:02.37 which is how you get the 69. 00:44:02.40\00:44:04.07 But here's why it's said that way, 00:44:04.11\00:44:06.01 the seven weeks it's mentioned here, 00:44:06.04\00:44:07.74 there's a reason why it says seven weeks 00:44:07.78\00:44:09.44 and 62 weeks. 00:44:09.48\00:44:10.81 And I always wonder like why did they just say 69 weeks? 00:44:10.85\00:44:13.62 Because the seven weeks, 00:44:13.65\00:44:15.25 which is if you apply appropriately 00:44:15.28\00:44:17.32 the year-day principle here, 00:44:17.35\00:44:18.92 seven times seven is 49. 00:44:18.95\00:44:20.92 It actually took 49 years approximately for Jerusalem, 00:44:20.96\00:44:25.36 for the people of Jerusalem 00:44:25.39\00:44:26.73 to complete the building of the wall, 00:44:26.76\00:44:29.00 as it stated here, notice, to restore and build Jerusalem. 00:44:29.03\00:44:32.07 And then if you go down there it says 00:44:32.10\00:44:33.57 the streets shall be built again 00:44:33.60\00:44:34.94 and the wall even in troublesome times. 00:44:34.97\00:44:36.67 So they had to reestablish government. 00:44:36.71\00:44:38.74 They had to rebuild Jerusalem from the ground up. 00:44:38.77\00:44:41.94 They had to rebuild the temple, as Cyrus would give the decree 00:44:41.98\00:44:45.71 and, of course, Artaxerxes would give the official decree 00:44:45.75\00:44:48.48 to restore and build a government 00:44:48.52\00:44:50.42 and reestablish the statehood of Jerusalem in 457 BC. 00:44:50.45\00:44:55.09 And so if you count 49 years from 457 BC onward, 00:44:55.12\00:44:59.16 it took them about 49 years 00:44:59.19\00:45:01.20 to reestablish the completeness of Jerusalem as a state. 00:45:01.23\00:45:04.47 Now, there's a reference in John 2:20, 00:45:04.50\00:45:07.50 where the Pharisees confirmed that 00:45:07.54\00:45:09.70 it took about 46 years for them to build the temple. 00:45:09.74\00:45:12.31 So this is actually some support for this, 00:45:12.34\00:45:14.24 because 46 years it took them to build the temple, 00:45:14.28\00:45:16.68 but you have, give or take there, 00:45:16.71\00:45:18.05 three, three and a half years, 00:45:18.08\00:45:19.41 where they're still trying to restore government, 00:45:19.45\00:45:21.55 restore the statehood of Jerusalem. 00:45:21.58\00:45:23.08 So the seven weeks comes first, 00:45:23.12\00:45:25.35 there's restoration of Jerusalem 49 years. 00:45:25.39\00:45:28.42 And then now comes the 62 weeks tacked on behind that, 00:45:28.46\00:45:32.19 which is why verse 26 says, after the 62 weeks, 00:45:32.23\00:45:35.60 because if you have seven weeks restoration of Jerusalem, 00:45:35.63\00:45:38.30 now the 62 weeks to follow, 00:45:38.33\00:45:40.37 at the end of that 62 weeks, you've now come 69, 00:45:40.40\00:45:44.41 four weeks, or in this case, 483 years, 00:45:44.44\00:45:47.21 all the way to 27 AD 00:45:47.24\00:45:48.68 where Jesus Christ is now being baptized 00:45:48.71\00:45:50.98 and beginning His ministry. 00:45:51.01\00:45:52.35 So I hope that makes sense. 00:45:52.38\00:45:53.72 That was a quick timeline. 00:45:53.75\00:45:55.42 That's very good. 00:45:55.45\00:45:56.79 It's a lot there. 00:45:56.82\00:45:58.15 "Pastor Rafferty, can you please explain 00:45:58.19\00:46:00.86 Revelation 20:13-14?" 00:46:00.89\00:46:04.43 Revelation again, 00:46:04.46\00:46:05.79 this is a little bit more challenging, 00:46:05.83\00:46:07.16 Revelation Chapter 20:13-14, 00:46:07.20\00:46:09.80 "And the sea gave up the dead 00:46:09.83\00:46:11.43 which were in them and death and hell delivered up the dead 00:46:11.47\00:46:15.17 which were in them. 00:46:15.20\00:46:16.74 And they were judged every man according to their works, 00:46:16.77\00:46:20.14 and death and hell were cast into the lake of fire. 00:46:20.18\00:46:23.65 This is the second death." 00:46:23.68\00:46:26.18 So these verses basically 00:46:26.21\00:46:27.72 are referring to the second death. 00:46:27.75\00:46:29.18 The second death is the ultimate destruction 00:46:29.22\00:46:31.22 of the wicked. 00:46:31.25\00:46:32.59 The sea would represent those who died in the sea. 00:46:32.62\00:46:36.06 The death would represent those who simply died. 00:46:36.09\00:46:38.96 And hell represents Hades in the Greek or the grave. 00:46:38.99\00:46:42.63 And so basically, these verses are saying 00:46:42.66\00:46:45.07 that all who died the first death 00:46:45.10\00:46:47.20 will be resurrected from wherever they died, 00:46:47.24\00:46:49.64 whether they're buried in the sea, 00:46:49.67\00:46:51.01 whether they're buried in graves, 00:46:51.04\00:46:52.37 or wherever they are, 00:46:52.41\00:46:53.74 they're going to be resurrected, 00:46:53.78\00:46:55.21 and they're going to face a judgment 00:46:55.24\00:46:56.85 according to the context of Revelation Chapter 20. 00:46:56.88\00:47:00.42 This judgment is going to be according to their works. 00:47:00.45\00:47:02.65 The books are going to be open. 00:47:02.68\00:47:04.05 We might say today, the video is going to play. 00:47:04.09\00:47:07.12 And they're going to see the history of the world 00:47:07.16\00:47:09.12 and their place in that history, 00:47:09.16\00:47:10.69 and every wicked deed, 00:47:10.73\00:47:12.06 every immoral act that they committed 00:47:12.09\00:47:14.06 because they didn't put their trust in Christ, 00:47:14.10\00:47:15.80 and they didn't let Him take those sins away, 00:47:15.83\00:47:18.83 cast them into the depths of the sea. 00:47:18.87\00:47:20.40 And so they have to face the record of that sin, 00:47:20.44\00:47:22.54 and that is going to be a part of their punishment. 00:47:22.57\00:47:25.41 So they face this judgment according to their works. 00:47:25.44\00:47:27.91 And then they experience 00:47:27.94\00:47:29.28 what is called the second death. 00:47:29.31\00:47:30.78 Now the second death 00:47:30.81\00:47:32.15 is also known as the lake of fire. 00:47:32.18\00:47:34.88 And this second death is a phrase 00:47:34.92\00:47:37.99 that is used only four times in the Bible, 00:47:38.02\00:47:39.82 and every time it is used is used 00:47:39.85\00:47:41.46 in the Book of Revelation, 00:47:41.49\00:47:42.82 Revelation 2:11, Revelation 20:6, 00:47:42.86\00:47:45.03 Revelation 20:14, and Revelation 21:8. 00:47:45.06\00:47:48.50 It refers to the finality, 00:47:48.53\00:47:50.67 that complete perishing of all of those 00:47:50.70\00:47:53.97 who have rejected the love of God, 00:47:54.00\00:47:55.74 and chosen to live a selfish, deceptive and immoral life. 00:47:55.77\00:47:59.91 God so loved the world 00:47:59.94\00:48:01.28 that He gave His only begotten Son that 00:48:01.31\00:48:02.64 whosoever believes in Him 00:48:02.68\00:48:04.01 should not perish in the lake of fire, 00:48:04.05\00:48:05.95 should not perish with the second death, 00:48:05.98\00:48:07.98 should not be hurt by the second death, 00:48:08.02\00:48:09.55 but have eternal life. 00:48:09.58\00:48:10.92 Amen. Amen. 00:48:10.95\00:48:12.79 Well, that concludes our normal question round. 00:48:12.82\00:48:16.73 We're entering into the bonus round. 00:48:16.76\00:48:19.19 This is what we like to call it, 00:48:19.23\00:48:20.93 what I like to call it the bonus round. 00:48:20.96\00:48:23.13 And so I'm going to throw out some questions. 00:48:23.16\00:48:25.57 And whoever wants to answer may do so. 00:48:25.60\00:48:28.17 What does the Bible say about this quote, 00:48:28.20\00:48:31.04 "If you're absent during my struggle, 00:48:31.07\00:48:33.64 don't expect to be present during my success?" 00:48:33.68\00:48:37.88 Well, I'll take a stab at this 00:48:37.91\00:48:40.58 and somebody can add to it if they want. 00:48:40.62\00:48:42.65 I can tell you the Bible says absolutely nothing 00:48:42.68\00:48:46.09 about that particular statement. 00:48:46.12\00:48:47.96 But I will state, you know, I understand 00:48:47.99\00:48:50.33 where the statement is coming from, 00:48:50.36\00:48:52.09 from kind of a worldly perspective. 00:48:52.13\00:48:54.30 But, you know, when I heard this statement, 00:48:54.33\00:48:56.03 when I read the statement, my mind immediately went to, 00:48:56.06\00:48:58.37 you know, what would Jesus do? 00:48:58.40\00:49:00.80 What if Jesus held that attitude, 00:49:00.84\00:49:02.84 you know, what He was successful over death, 00:49:02.87\00:49:05.34 He was successful over sin 00:49:05.37\00:49:07.01 and He invites us into that success. 00:49:07.04\00:49:09.61 And I understand 00:49:09.64\00:49:10.98 where this person is coming from, 00:49:11.01\00:49:12.35 where this quote is trying to say that, 00:49:12.38\00:49:13.72 you know, we have people in our lives, 00:49:13.75\00:49:15.08 they're not there for us when we need them, 00:49:15.12\00:49:16.45 and then once we become successful, 00:49:16.48\00:49:17.82 now they want to come into our lives. 00:49:17.85\00:49:19.19 I get it completely. 00:49:19.22\00:49:20.56 But the Bible does not specifically address this 00:49:20.59\00:49:23.46 in text that I'm aware of. 00:49:23.49\00:49:25.73 But we also have to keep ourselves in check 00:49:25.76\00:49:27.80 to make sure that we don't become too prideful 00:49:27.83\00:49:29.43 and selfish to realize, 00:49:29.46\00:49:31.07 you know, in the realization that, 00:49:31.10\00:49:32.50 you know, Jesus Christ is here. 00:49:32.53\00:49:34.70 You know, He was abandoned, people weren't there for Him 00:49:34.74\00:49:37.17 when He needed them, especially His disciples, 00:49:37.21\00:49:39.41 what if His disciples all scattered, right? 00:49:39.44\00:49:41.08 They weren't there for Him when He needed them, 00:49:41.11\00:49:43.18 but yet He still invited them into that communion 00:49:43.21\00:49:45.88 in His success in victory over sin. 00:49:45.91\00:49:48.18 So keep ourselves in check. 00:49:48.22\00:49:49.62 Remain humble, and have the mind of Christ 00:49:49.65\00:49:52.02 when we're pertaining to certain comments like this. 00:49:52.05\00:49:55.29 Absolutely. 00:49:55.32\00:49:56.66 Yeah. Good. 00:49:56.69\00:49:58.03 Anybody, you want to add anything? 00:49:58.06\00:50:00.83 Maybe this scripture might help. 00:50:00.86\00:50:04.20 In the Book of Matthew says, 00:50:04.23\00:50:05.57 "You have heard that it was said, 00:50:05.60\00:50:06.94 you shall love your neighbor and hate your enemy. 00:50:06.97\00:50:08.77 But I say to you, love your enemies, 00:50:08.80\00:50:11.04 bless those who curse you, 00:50:11.07\00:50:12.41 do good to those who hate you 00:50:12.44\00:50:13.81 and pray for those who spitefully use you 00:50:13.84\00:50:16.98 and persecute you, 00:50:17.01\00:50:18.35 that you may be sons of your Father in heaven, 00:50:18.38\00:50:21.18 for He makes His sun rise on the evil 00:50:21.22\00:50:23.59 and on the good and sends rain on the just and on the unjust. 00:50:23.62\00:50:27.22 Kindness shown to others at all times 00:50:27.26\00:50:29.86 is what Jesus would do. 00:50:29.89\00:50:31.23 Amen. 00:50:31.26\00:50:32.59 Well said, "I am a Seventh-day Adventist 00:50:32.63\00:50:35.70 and go to a church that allows its members 00:50:35.73\00:50:37.53 to get up and take part in the service 00:50:37.57\00:50:39.30 with anything on like going up on stage 00:50:39.33\00:50:41.84 with all kinds of jewelry, 00:50:41.87\00:50:43.20 how can we be God's last day people 00:50:43.24\00:50:45.07 and still not have self-denial? 00:50:45.11\00:50:47.18 What would you tell me to do?" 00:50:47.21\00:50:48.61 We have a few seconds to answer this. 00:50:48.64\00:50:51.11 Well, I always tell people and I'm just getting into, 00:50:51.15\00:50:54.42 you know, the Spirit of Prophecy here. 00:50:54.45\00:50:55.78 But I always tell people to read prayerfully Evangelism, 00:50:55.82\00:50:58.62 page 272. 00:50:58.65\00:51:00.19 This is an ongoing issue. 00:51:00.22\00:51:02.06 We struggle with this as a church not knowing, 00:51:02.09\00:51:04.66 you know, what the balance is. 00:51:04.69\00:51:06.19 Evangelism, 272, 00:51:06.23\00:51:07.66 just from a biblical perspective tells us 00:51:07.70\00:51:09.76 we need to lay the axe at the root of the tree. 00:51:09.80\00:51:11.67 You can't pick off the leaves whatever seems offensive, 00:51:11.70\00:51:14.10 the ornaments, the outward things, 00:51:14.14\00:51:15.97 we need to talk about Jesus, 00:51:16.00\00:51:17.44 we need to reveal the Spirit of Christ, 00:51:17.47\00:51:19.47 we need to reveal the love of Christ. 00:51:19.51\00:51:20.94 And then the axe is laid at the root of the tree 00:51:20.98\00:51:22.91 and all these outward things fall off. 00:51:22.94\00:51:24.68 So when I see people with the outward adorning, 00:51:24.71\00:51:26.72 etc, they need more of Jesus, they need Christ, 00:51:26.75\00:51:28.85 more than anything else they need Jesus Christ. 00:51:28.88\00:51:31.22 Amen. 00:51:31.25\00:51:32.59 Absolutely. That's beautiful. 00:51:32.62\00:51:33.96 And, you know, when people 00:51:33.99\00:51:35.32 enter into a church for the first time, 00:51:35.36\00:51:37.73 you know, we need to be introducing them to Christ. 00:51:37.76\00:51:40.20 I love that.
