Let me bring up this card. 00:05:06.90\00:05:08.37 I just want to say thank you to CJ and LaDonna. 00:05:08.40\00:05:09.97 There's a lot of questions like we said, 00:05:10.01\00:05:11.34 they come in and all these cards 00:05:11.37\00:05:12.74 and questions and I'll tell you this is great, 00:05:12.77\00:05:14.41 so organized very well. 00:05:14.44\00:05:16.54 Question here doesn't give the name, 00:05:16.58\00:05:18.11 but good question. 00:05:18.15\00:05:19.48 "What techniques do Seventh-day Adventists use 00:05:19.51\00:05:22.12 to tie Old Testament prophecy with New Testament prophecy?" 00:05:22.15\00:05:25.55 All right. 00:05:25.59\00:05:26.92 Well, primarily, we use the Bible itself. 00:05:26.96\00:05:29.09 Good. 00:05:29.12\00:05:30.46 You go through the scriptures 00:05:30.49\00:05:31.83 and you're going to find over and over again 00:05:31.86\00:05:33.19 that the Bible quotes the Old Testament 00:05:33.23\00:05:35.76 in the New Testament. 00:05:35.80\00:05:37.13 But you're also going to see some connections 00:05:37.17\00:05:38.50 between the Old Testament and the New Testament. 00:05:38.53\00:05:40.10 So I'll give you a few examples. 00:05:40.14\00:05:41.97 In Matthew 11:10, we see Jesus quoting Malachi 3:1. 00:05:42.00\00:05:47.88 For this as he of whom it is written, Behold, 00:05:47.91\00:05:50.35 I will send my messenger before thy face 00:05:50.38\00:05:52.91 which shall prepare the way before thee." 00:05:52.95\00:05:56.72 So that's Jesus quoting the Old Testament 00:05:56.75\00:05:59.35 and applying it to the New Testament. 00:05:59.39\00:06:01.12 That's how one of the ways we connect. 00:06:01.16\00:06:02.82 We see this all through the New Testament, 00:06:02.86\00:06:04.59 like in Acts 2:16-17. 00:06:04.63\00:06:08.70 We see Peter quoting from Joel, 00:06:08.73\00:06:11.60 the Old Testament Book of Joel, a minor prophet, 00:06:11.63\00:06:13.94 when he says, but this is that 00:06:13.97\00:06:15.57 which was spoken by the prophet Joel 00:06:15.60\00:06:17.41 and it shall come to pass in those days, 00:06:17.44\00:06:19.51 in the last day, saith the Lord 00:06:19.54\00:06:20.88 I will pour out My Spirit upon all flesh. 00:06:20.91\00:06:23.08 We see also Christ's quoting from the Isaiah, 00:06:23.11\00:06:27.25 the Book of Isaiah, which really was a prophecy, 00:06:27.28\00:06:30.59 a lot of Isaiah was a prophecy about Christ, 00:06:30.62\00:06:32.75 about foretelling what he would experience. 00:06:32.79\00:06:35.52 In Matthew 8:17, "That it might be fulfilled 00:06:35.56\00:06:38.36 which was spoken by Isaiah the prophet saying, 00:06:38.39\00:06:40.10 'He Himself took our infirmities, 00:06:40.13\00:06:41.96 and bore our sicknesses." 00:06:42.00\00:06:43.33 And that's Isaiah Chapter 53, talking about the Messiah, 00:06:43.37\00:06:46.50 and then we have Daniel and Revelation. 00:06:46.53\00:06:47.87 Now, Daniel and Revelation are considered twin books, 00:06:47.90\00:06:51.84 prophetic books, they're joined at the hip, 00:06:51.87\00:06:54.28 and two of the places we see them joined 00:06:54.31\00:06:56.01 is Daniel Chapter 7 is joined to Revelation 13, 00:06:56.04\00:06:59.61 both of them talking about these four beasts, 00:06:59.65\00:07:02.55 the leopard like, the bear like, the lion like, 00:07:02.58\00:07:05.32 and the dragon like beast, 00:07:05.35\00:07:06.69 and then we see Daniel Chapter 10, 00:07:06.72\00:07:09.36 connected, excuse me, yeah, 10 and 12 connected 00:07:09.39\00:07:12.13 with Revelation Chapter 10. 00:07:12.16\00:07:13.70 And we have this little book that was sealed up, 00:07:13.73\00:07:16.20 and we have an angel standing on the waters, 00:07:16.23\00:07:18.13 on the seas, lifting his hand to heaven, swear 00:07:18.17\00:07:20.47 by him that lives forever and ever, 00:07:20.50\00:07:21.90 that we time, times and a half a time. 00:07:21.94\00:07:23.51 And we see that unsealed in Revelation Chapter 10. 00:07:23.54\00:07:26.91 So those are the principles we use repeat and enlarge 00:07:26.94\00:07:29.11 and just quoting Old Testament to New Testament. 00:07:29.14\00:07:30.95 Amen. Yes, praise the Lord. 00:07:30.98\00:07:32.71 Great answer. And good question, too. 00:07:32.75\00:07:34.48 Thank you so much for submitting that. 00:07:34.52\00:07:36.28 Let's see here. 00:07:36.32\00:07:37.65 Let's go to you, Pastor Ryan, 00:07:37.69\00:07:39.42 this comes from Barbara from Pennsylvania. 00:07:39.45\00:07:42.56 "Both the Books of James and Galatians 00:07:42.59\00:07:45.13 tell us to keep the whole law. 00:07:45.16\00:07:47.40 If not, you're under the curse of the law. 00:07:47.43\00:07:50.57 Why does 3ABN want to keep the law 00:07:50.60\00:07:53.10 when Jesus came and fulfilled the law? 00:07:53.13\00:07:55.07 Amen. 00:07:55.10\00:07:56.44 I like how they put 3ABN there? 00:07:56.47\00:07:57.81 Why does 3ABN keep the law? 00:07:57.84\00:07:59.17 Why does 3ABN, well, I can think 00:07:59.21\00:08:00.54 I can answer this question clearly. 00:08:00.58\00:08:01.91 First of all, we have to understand 00:08:01.94\00:08:03.28 what it means to fulfill. 00:08:03.31\00:08:04.65 What Christ ultimately did fulfill 00:08:04.68\00:08:06.31 the completeness of the law, 00:08:06.35\00:08:07.68 but does fulfill mean necessarily 00:08:07.72\00:08:09.55 done away with or made obsolete, 00:08:09.58\00:08:11.25 and that's what a lot of people, 00:08:11.29\00:08:12.62 the big mistake that they make 00:08:12.65\00:08:13.99 is they try to take that word fulfill and say, 00:08:14.02\00:08:15.72 well, since Christ fulfilled it, 00:08:15.76\00:08:17.09 then He done away with it or He made obsolete 00:08:17.13\00:08:19.49 or made void the Ten Commandment law 00:08:19.53\00:08:21.96 that we believe here at 3ABN, we should upkeep, right? 00:08:22.00\00:08:24.53 We should uphold that. 00:08:24.57\00:08:25.90 And so Matthew 5:17-18 comes to mind 00:08:25.93\00:08:28.50 when I'm thinking of this where Christ clearly says, 00:08:28.54\00:08:30.51 "Do not think that I've come 00:08:30.54\00:08:31.87 to destroy the law or the prophets, 00:08:31.91\00:08:33.88 I did not come to destroy but to fulfill, 00:08:33.91\00:08:37.05 for surely I say to you till heaven 00:08:37.08\00:08:38.41 and earth pass away, 00:08:38.45\00:08:39.78 one jot or one tittle will by no means pass 00:08:39.81\00:08:41.75 from the law till all is fulfilled." 00:08:41.78\00:08:43.45 Now, was all fulfilled at the cross? 00:08:43.49\00:08:45.35 Not necessarily, we know that 00:08:45.39\00:08:46.72 Christ ratified the New Covenant, 00:08:46.76\00:08:48.62 His blood brought in into that sacrificial system, 00:08:48.66\00:08:52.53 which was a large portion of the overall law 00:08:52.56\00:08:55.06 that was given to the children of Israel. 00:08:55.10\00:08:57.47 But God's Ten Commandment law is eternal. 00:08:57.50\00:09:00.30 There's a difference between these two segments 00:09:00.34\00:09:02.47 of the law in the sense 00:09:02.50\00:09:03.84 that when we get to Colossians 2:14-17, 00:09:03.87\00:09:06.71 we see very clearly 00:09:06.74\00:09:08.08 that there was a handwriting of ordinances 00:09:08.11\00:09:10.01 that was against us, 00:09:10.05\00:09:11.38 that was contrary to us, 00:09:11.41\00:09:12.75 that was taken out of the way, nailed to the cross. 00:09:12.78\00:09:14.68 In other words, Christ nailed it to the cross, 00:09:14.72\00:09:16.79 He completed it, He fulfilled it. 00:09:16.82\00:09:18.32 And He done away with that. 00:09:18.35\00:09:20.19 Now, in that case, when you go to Deuteronomy 31, 00:09:20.22\00:09:22.69 we are told that this is the Book of the Law 00:09:22.72\00:09:24.79 written by the handwriting of Moses. 00:09:24.83\00:09:26.96 It was placed on a side compartment 00:09:27.00\00:09:28.66 on the outside of the ark, 00:09:28.70\00:09:30.13 meaning that it's temporary, 00:09:30.17\00:09:31.67 it was temporary for a short time, 00:09:31.70\00:09:33.44 but what was on the inside of that ark was forever, 00:09:33.47\00:09:36.00 it's eternal. 00:09:36.04\00:09:37.37 What was on the inside? 00:09:37.41\00:09:38.74 God's Ten Commandment law, His eternal law. 00:09:38.77\00:09:41.81 And, of course, we know that 3ABN upholds this 00:09:41.84\00:09:44.55 and we teach this because 00:09:44.58\00:09:45.91 not because it's a means of salvation. 00:09:45.95\00:09:47.78 Nowhere, if you've ever heard a program on 3ABN 00:09:47.82\00:09:50.72 where someone has taught 00:09:50.75\00:09:52.09 that we gain our salvation by the keeping of any law, 00:09:52.12\00:09:54.49 then let us know. 00:09:54.52\00:09:55.89 I'm not aware of any of that because we believe that 00:09:55.92\00:09:58.33 the motivation and the motivation 00:09:58.36\00:10:01.33 behind keeping the law is love. 00:10:01.36\00:10:03.33 We don't keep the Ten Commandments 00:10:03.37\00:10:04.77 because we think it saves us, 00:10:04.80\00:10:06.13 we do it because Jesus said in John 14:15, 00:10:06.17\00:10:08.47 "If you love Me, keep My commandments." 00:10:08.50\00:10:11.21 So that's my short two minute answer. 00:10:11.24\00:10:12.87 We could talk more about that, but, yeah, leave at that. 00:10:12.91\00:10:15.64 That can be a challenge, can't it? 00:10:15.68\00:10:17.05 Yeah. 00:10:17.08\00:10:18.41 Good questions, great answers from the Word of God. 00:10:18.45\00:10:20.25 Jason, let's go to the question that we talked about 00:10:20.28\00:10:22.85 the very beginning of the program, 00:10:22.88\00:10:24.42 and no name with this, but they ask, 00:10:24.45\00:10:27.49 "I want to ask if watching movies or dramas 00:10:27.52\00:10:31.63 is a sin? 00:10:31.66\00:10:32.99 If yes, can you please pray for me 00:10:33.03\00:10:35.63 so that I can overcome this addiction?" 00:10:35.66\00:10:38.83 Okay. 00:10:38.87\00:10:40.20 The act of watching movies or dramas 00:10:40.24\00:10:42.14 is not a sin in and of itself. 00:10:42.17\00:10:44.47 But the question is, what direction 00:10:44.51\00:10:46.14 do these movies point you in? 00:10:46.17\00:10:48.04 We have to be very careful 00:10:48.08\00:10:49.41 what we're allowing to flow into our minds. 00:10:49.44\00:10:52.05 Mark 7:20-23, "And He said, 00:10:52.08\00:10:56.89 'What comes out of a man, that defiles a man. 00:10:56.92\00:11:01.39 For from within, out of the heart of men, 00:11:01.42\00:11:04.13 proceed evil thoughts, adulteries, 00:11:04.16\00:11:06.59 fornications, murders, thefts, covetousness, 00:11:06.63\00:11:09.86 wickedness, deceit, lewdness, an evil eye, 00:11:09.90\00:11:13.34 blasphemy, pride, foolishness. 00:11:13.37\00:11:16.04 All these evil things come from within and defile a man.'" 00:11:16.07\00:11:20.78 With that being said, do the movies 00:11:20.81\00:11:22.61 that you're watching contain these things, 00:11:22.64\00:11:25.31 or the things of that nature in it? 00:11:25.35\00:11:28.15 If they do, then it's something 00:11:28.18\00:11:29.98 that you probably shouldn't be watching. 00:11:30.02\00:11:32.92 Really, that you definitely shouldn't be watching. 00:11:32.95\00:11:35.12 That's right? Yeah, that's right. 00:11:35.16\00:11:37.29 And the other thing is, 00:11:37.33\00:11:39.46 you know, if it's not pointing you 00:11:39.49\00:11:41.60 in the direction of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, 00:11:41.63\00:11:43.80 and who needs it, 00:11:43.83\00:11:45.23 you probably shouldn't be watching that either. 00:11:45.27\00:11:47.97 Would you watch those same movies 00:11:48.00\00:11:50.14 if Jesus was sitting on the couch with you? 00:11:50.17\00:11:53.04 Think about that question. 00:11:53.07\00:11:55.41 We need to keep the following principle in mind. 00:11:55.44\00:11:57.58 1 Corinthians 10:31, 00:11:57.61\00:12:00.55 "Therefore whether you eat or drink, 00:12:00.58\00:12:02.78 or whatever you do, do all to the glory of God." 00:12:02.82\00:12:07.89 As for the addiction part, 00:12:07.92\00:12:09.26 it sounds as though watching movies 00:12:09.29\00:12:11.29 is a serious stronghold for you. 00:12:11.33\00:12:13.90 And it's definitely something to pray about. 00:12:13.93\00:12:15.66 And I want to take a second to pray for you right now. 00:12:15.70\00:12:17.60 It's good. 00:12:17.63\00:12:18.97 Dear Heavenly Father, I just want to lift up 00:12:19.00\00:12:20.44 this viewer or listener, 00:12:20.47\00:12:22.14 Lord, who's struggling with this addiction to movies. 00:12:22.17\00:12:25.24 Father, we just ask 00:12:25.27\00:12:26.74 that You would remove that stronghold 00:12:26.78\00:12:28.84 from this individual's life 00:12:28.88\00:12:30.35 and help them to see with all the incredible dramas 00:12:30.38\00:12:34.82 and all of the incredible things 00:12:34.85\00:12:36.52 that take place in Your Word 00:12:36.55\00:12:38.89 that all point to you. 00:12:38.92\00:12:40.79 We thank You for hearing this prayer. 00:12:40.82\00:12:42.36 In Jesus' name I pray, amen. 00:12:42.39\00:12:43.96 Amen. Amen. 00:12:43.99\00:12:45.66 Thank you very much, Jason. 00:12:45.69\00:12:47.03 Yeah, and great question, too. 00:12:47.06\00:12:48.40 We appreciate you submitting that. 00:12:48.43\00:12:51.00 Pastor James, question here 00:12:51.03\00:12:52.93 talking about a previous program. 00:12:52.97\00:12:54.54 It says, "In a previous program, 00:12:54.57\00:12:56.24 you were talking about persecution, 00:12:56.27\00:12:58.64 and how the jailer in the story of Paul and Silas 00:12:58.67\00:13:01.91 in the jail was going to kill himself, 00:13:01.94\00:13:03.88 but because of the witness for Jesus, 00:13:03.91\00:13:06.08 he and his family were saved. 00:13:06.11\00:13:08.28 Will God's people be able to witness 00:13:08.32\00:13:10.15 during the time of persecution? 00:13:10.19\00:13:12.12 Or will probation close before the time of trouble?" 00:13:12.15\00:13:15.46 Oh, that is a really good question. 00:13:15.49\00:13:16.83 It is. 00:13:16.86\00:13:18.19 And the answer to that question 00:13:18.23\00:13:19.56 is that probation does close before the time of trouble, 00:13:19.59\00:13:22.56 spoken about in Daniel 12:1, 00:13:22.60\00:13:25.33 and also referred to in Revelation Chapter 7. 00:13:25.37\00:13:27.84 However, we will be witnessing up until that time. 00:13:27.87\00:13:31.07 There's an outline that tells us 00:13:31.11\00:13:33.58 the prophetic stages of development 00:13:33.61\00:13:36.41 in Matthew Chapter 24. 00:13:36.44\00:13:37.85 There are three of them. 00:13:37.88\00:13:39.21 Three basic stages, Matthew 24:1-10, 00:13:39.25\00:13:41.98 Matthew 24:11-22. 00:13:42.02\00:13:44.29 And then Matthew 24:11 or 22, to the end of the chapter. 00:13:44.32\00:13:48.36 And the first stage we see wars and rumors of wars, etc, 00:13:48.39\00:13:52.39 leading to affliction, leading to pressure, 00:13:52.43\00:13:55.03 leading to hatred among the nations for God's people. 00:13:55.06\00:13:57.83 In the second stage, we see 00:13:57.87\00:13:59.23 the Sabbath and abomination conflict. 00:13:59.27\00:14:01.47 And it's in that stage where we see the gospel 00:14:01.50\00:14:04.07 going to all the world as a witness. 00:14:04.11\00:14:06.54 And that word witness also includes martyrdom, 00:14:06.57\00:14:09.58 because that word comes from a root word 00:14:09.61\00:14:11.61 which is martyr. 00:14:11.65\00:14:13.05 So we see in the second stage of development, 00:14:13.08\00:14:15.52 now this is before the third stage, 00:14:15.55\00:14:17.49 which is when Satan actually personates Christ, 00:14:17.52\00:14:20.36 and confirms through miracles and deception, 00:14:20.39\00:14:24.16 that he's changed the day of worship. 00:14:24.19\00:14:26.19 And he wants all the world to worship on the day 00:14:26.23\00:14:28.03 that he has instituted in place of the seventh day Sabbath. 00:14:28.06\00:14:31.10 And so what we see in the second stage 00:14:31.13\00:14:33.20 is God's people witnessing like the jailer was witnessed 00:14:33.23\00:14:36.40 to by Paul and Silas. 00:14:36.44\00:14:38.11 God's people going through persecution, 00:14:38.14\00:14:39.77 love is waxing cold, 00:14:39.81\00:14:41.18 and God's people are standing for the truth boldly 00:14:41.21\00:14:43.48 and preaching the everlasting gospel, 00:14:43.51\00:14:45.08 then the end comes. 00:14:45.11\00:14:46.85 Somewhere between stage two and stage three, 00:14:46.88\00:14:49.28 we have the end or the close of probation. 00:14:49.32\00:14:51.95 And just after stage three begins 00:14:51.99\00:14:54.16 and Satan appears here and there 00:14:54.19\00:14:55.82 and deceives people and produces miracles etc. 00:14:55.86\00:15:00.16 We see Jesus coming like the lightning shining 00:15:00.20\00:15:02.56 from the east even unto the west. 00:15:02.60\00:15:04.57 So definitely we'll be witnessing 00:15:04.60\00:15:06.43 just before probation closes, 00:15:06.47\00:15:08.27 just before the time of trouble, 00:15:08.30\00:15:09.77 we will be witnessing 00:15:09.80\00:15:11.14 and people will be coming to the truth 00:15:11.17\00:15:12.51 and there'll be learning in weeks and months 00:15:12.54\00:15:13.88 what has taken others of us a lifetime to learn. 00:15:13.91\00:15:15.91 Right. Yeah. 00:15:15.94\00:15:17.28 Wow. Yeah, great answer. 00:15:17.31\00:15:18.65 Thank you so very much. 00:15:18.68\00:15:20.58 Talking about previous programs. 00:15:20.62\00:15:22.38 Pastor Ryan, let's go to this one. 00:15:22.42\00:15:23.85 This says, "I recently watched the 3ABN Sabbath School Panel, 00:15:23.89\00:15:28.62 and Ryan Day stated 00:15:28.66\00:15:33.43 is only referring to business pleasure 00:15:33.46\00:15:36.00 based on the meaning of the root word, 00:15:36.03\00:15:37.90 and not secular pleasure. 00:15:37.93\00:15:39.80 I investigated his statement and I found 00:15:39.83\00:15:42.00 that it is the same original word used in, 00:15:42.04\00:15:44.54 and here are the references 1 Samuel 15:22 delight, 00:15:44.57\00:15:48.34 2 Chronicles 9:12, desire, 00:15:48.38\00:15:51.75 Jeremiah 22-28, pleasure, 00:15:51.78\00:15:55.22 Jeremiah 48:38, pleasure, etc. 00:15:55.25\00:15:58.65 I would like some clarification, please." 00:15:58.69\00:16:01.49 Yeah, absolutely. 00:16:01.52\00:16:02.86 So this word is used some 39 times in Scripture. 00:16:02.89\00:16:05.79 And it's used in the form of different 00:16:05.83\00:16:09.20 English translated words. 00:16:09.23\00:16:10.57 In this case, you've listed a few of them here, 00:16:10.60\00:16:12.07 delight, pleasure, desire. 00:16:12.10\00:16:14.80 Of course, we're going to bring up another one 00:16:14.84\00:16:16.34 in just a moment 00:16:16.37\00:16:17.71 where it uses the word purpose. 00:16:17.74\00:16:19.07 And so that the key to understanding 00:16:19.11\00:16:20.68 what I was speaking about in a previous program, 00:16:20.71\00:16:23.58 is we have to study these words 00:16:23.61\00:16:25.08 within the context that they're used. 00:16:25.11\00:16:26.92 Now, how I came about this, 00:16:26.95\00:16:28.55 as I was doing some study on this, 00:16:28.58\00:16:29.92 and I heard a minister, 00:16:29.95\00:16:31.29 another minister preach about this, 00:16:31.32\00:16:32.92 and it struck my attention. 00:16:32.95\00:16:34.29 And so I started digging deeper, 00:16:34.32\00:16:35.66 and I found an article that was submitted 00:16:35.69\00:16:37.89 to the Adventist Theological Society 00:16:37.93\00:16:40.23 by Dr. Ed Christian. 00:16:40.26\00:16:42.00 He's a professor of literature, English and theology. 00:16:42.03\00:16:44.33 And he wrote an entire journal article on this 00:16:44.37\00:16:47.77 and it's entitled Sabbath is a happy day. 00:16:47.80\00:16:49.80 What does Isaiah 58:13-14 mean? 00:16:49.84\00:16:52.81 And so I read through this article, 00:16:52.84\00:16:54.68 and he builds the support for how this word pleasure 00:16:54.71\00:16:58.61 is not necessarily pleasure in the sense of what we think 00:16:58.65\00:17:01.12 is, you know, if I find pleasure, or delight, 00:17:01.15\00:17:03.49 or, fun, or happiness, 00:17:03.52\00:17:05.19 doing something then I'm violating the holiness 00:17:05.22\00:17:07.36 or the sanctity of the Sabbath. 00:17:07.39\00:17:08.72 Let me read something from that article there. 00:17:08.76\00:17:10.09 And this is found from page 87 of this article. 00:17:10.13\00:17:12.36 I thought it was worded well, 00:17:12.39\00:17:13.73 speaking of the word for pleasure 00:17:13.76\00:17:15.33 in the original language, which is chephets. 00:17:15.36\00:17:18.17 He says, "So what else might the noun chephets mean 00:17:18.20\00:17:20.80 beside pleasure?" 00:17:20.84\00:17:22.17 And he goes on to say, "The word also means 00:17:22.20\00:17:23.87 business, affair and matter." 00:17:23.91\00:17:26.01 It occurs in Ecclesiastes 3:1 and verse 17. 00:17:26.04\00:17:30.11 And this is that chapter where, you know, proverb, 00:17:30.15\00:17:32.58 where Solomon is saying, there's a time to do this, 00:17:32.61\00:17:34.52 there's a time to do that, and there's a time to do this. 00:17:34.55\00:17:36.35 So verse 1 talks about a time for every purpose, 00:17:36.38\00:17:39.85 and the word purpose there is the word chephets. 00:17:39.89\00:17:42.06 Same word used in Isaiah 58:13 for pleasure. 00:17:42.09\00:17:45.49 But it's interesting, we don't translate that to, 00:17:45.53\00:17:47.66 there's a time for every pleasure. 00:17:47.70\00:17:50.33 And so you have to understand it 00:17:50.37\00:17:51.70 within its context and how it's being used. 00:17:51.73\00:17:53.57 And even when you go on and study there, 00:17:53.60\00:17:55.57 you know, there's a popular, 00:17:55.60\00:17:57.47 a very respected and popular study source 00:17:57.51\00:18:01.31 known as the Brown-Driver-Briggs, 00:18:01.34\00:18:02.74 which is a very historical and very well respected 00:18:02.78\00:18:05.95 Hebrew and Aramaic lexicon. 00:18:05.98\00:18:08.38 And even they suggest here, 00:18:08.42\00:18:09.98 they say the preferred translation 00:18:10.02\00:18:11.65 for Isaiah 58:13, 00:18:11.69\00:18:13.09 in terms of pleasure is doing thy affairs. 00:18:13.12\00:18:17.23 And so the point that they're making here 00:18:17.26\00:18:18.86 he goes on to say, God is thus speaking again, 00:18:18.89\00:18:21.13 not against pleasure here, 00:18:21.16\00:18:22.50 but against working, doing business on the Sabbath. 00:18:22.53\00:18:25.10 Finding your own pleasure 00:18:25.13\00:18:26.47 should actually be translated finding business, 00:18:26.50\00:18:28.44 or looking for customers. 00:18:28.47\00:18:30.41 This is also implied at the top of this same passage, 00:18:30.44\00:18:33.04 when you go into Isaiah 58 verse, 00:18:33.07\00:18:35.58 I believe it's verse 3. 00:18:35.61\00:18:37.51 Let me look back here and make sure, 00:18:37.55\00:18:38.88 yes, verse 3 also implies the fact that it's tying it 00:18:38.91\00:18:42.02 to the exploitation of employees. 00:18:42.05\00:18:44.19 So the whole context of how he's using 00:18:44.22\00:18:46.29 this in this passage, 00:18:46.32\00:18:47.66 is he's saying, look, 00:18:47.69\00:18:49.02 you know, don't be finding to do your business pleasure 00:18:49.06\00:18:50.79 on this day. 00:18:50.83\00:18:52.16 And so it's interesting here that when we read that, 00:18:52.19\00:18:53.86 we often say, oh, you know, 00:18:53.90\00:18:55.23 we can't do this on the Sabbath, 00:18:55.26\00:18:56.60 and we make the Sabbath 00:18:56.63\00:18:57.97 such a heavy drudgerous experience 00:18:58.00\00:19:00.07 that we don't make it an exquisite delight, 00:19:00.10\00:19:03.14 as the scripture implies. 00:19:03.17\00:19:04.64 We should make it a day again. 00:19:04.67\00:19:06.31 We certainly should exercise wisdom and not just, 00:19:06.34\00:19:09.78 you know, let everything in on the Sabbath. 00:19:09.81\00:19:11.61 We should protect the sanctity of the Sabbath, 00:19:11.65\00:19:13.75 but certainly here, the original language suggests 00:19:13.78\00:19:17.45 that it's talking about business pleasure. 00:19:17.49\00:19:19.49 In fact, we use this even in Proverbs 20:1, 00:19:19.52\00:19:22.66 this is the example Proverbs 21 says, 00:19:22.69\00:19:24.59 you know, "Wine is a mocker, strong drink is raging: 00:19:24.63\00:19:26.56 whosoever is deceived thereby is not wise." 00:19:26.59\00:19:28.26 Well, the word for wine there is the Hebrew word yayin 00:19:28.30\00:19:32.50 which is the general word for wine. 00:19:32.53\00:19:34.40 But it's interesting, you got to read 00:19:34.44\00:19:35.80 and study this word within this context, 00:19:35.84\00:19:37.54 because in many cases, it's talking about 00:19:37.57\00:19:39.87 the fermented wine beverage 00:19:39.91\00:19:41.71 that God says don't touch it, leave it alone. 00:19:41.74\00:19:43.71 In other aspects, it talks about 00:19:43.75\00:19:45.08 it in a positive light. 00:19:45.11\00:19:46.45 So we have to understand, 00:19:46.48\00:19:47.82 we have to study these words within its context 00:19:47.85\00:19:50.02 and how they're used 00:19:50.05\00:19:51.39 and this is the case of Isaiah 58:13 00:19:51.42\00:19:53.42 with the word pleasure. 00:19:53.46\00:19:54.79 Wow, very good. Yeah. 00:19:54.82\00:19:56.16 There's a lot that can be said without juice added on to that. 00:19:56.19\00:19:58.39 Okay. 00:19:58.43\00:20:00.56 Thank you, Pastor Ryan. 00:20:00.60\00:20:01.93 Jason, let's go to this question. 00:20:01.96\00:20:04.03 "Can my prayers bring about a change in a person 00:20:04.07\00:20:07.67 who has a personality disorder like narcissism?" 00:20:07.70\00:20:11.27 Excellent question. 00:20:11.31\00:20:12.64 First let's start by defining narcissism. 00:20:12.67\00:20:14.81 Narcissism is defined as having an excessive interest 00:20:14.84\00:20:19.18 or admiration for oneself and in one's appearance. 00:20:19.21\00:20:23.08 And believe it or not, this type of behavior 00:20:23.12\00:20:25.05 is described in the Bible and it reminds me 00:20:25.09\00:20:28.02 of the carnal nature of mankind. 00:20:28.06\00:20:30.53 Consider the following passages. 00:20:30.56\00:20:32.49 2 Timothy 3:2-5, 00:20:32.53\00:20:36.13 "For men will be lovers of themselves, 00:20:36.16\00:20:38.97 lovers of money, boasters, proud, blasphemers, 00:20:39.00\00:20:42.90 disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy, 00:20:42.94\00:20:46.24 unloving, unforgiving, slanderers, 00:20:46.27\00:20:48.81 without self-control, brutal, 00:20:48.84\00:20:51.21 despisers of good, traitors, headstrong, haughty, 00:20:51.25\00:20:54.72 lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God, 00:20:54.75\00:20:57.52 having a form of godliness 00:20:57.55\00:20:59.22 but denying its power. 00:20:59.25\00:21:00.96 And from such people turn away!" 00:21:00.99\00:21:04.39 Now that's a pretty solid description 00:21:04.43\00:21:05.89 of a narcissist. 00:21:05.93\00:21:07.43 Proverbs 1:7, "The fear of the Lord 00:21:07.46\00:21:11.50 is the beginning of knowledge, 00:21:11.53\00:21:13.17 but fools despise wisdom and instruction." 00:21:13.20\00:21:17.34 Have you ever met an individual whom you can't teach anything 00:21:17.37\00:21:21.54 because they know everything? 00:21:21.58\00:21:23.68 Yeah, those, that's an example of a narcissist. 00:21:23.71\00:21:27.85 Proverbs 15:2 says, 00:21:27.88\00:21:30.25 "The tongue of the wise uses knowledge rightly, 00:21:30.29\00:21:34.06 but the mouth of fools pours forth foolishness." 00:21:34.09\00:21:37.36 And Proverbs 18:12, says, "Before destruction, 00:21:37.39\00:21:41.40 the heart of a man is haughty, 00:21:41.43\00:21:43.43 and before honor his humility." 00:21:43.47\00:21:46.60 King Nebuchadnezzar could be considered 00:21:46.63\00:21:49.97 the narcissistic king. 00:21:50.01\00:21:52.87 But through trials and humbling experiences, 00:21:52.91\00:21:55.61 he recognized the sovereignty of the one true God. 00:21:55.64\00:21:59.31 In regards to your question, I'd like to provide you 00:21:59.35\00:22:02.28 with some biblical hope. 00:22:02.32\00:22:03.92 1 John 5:14-15 says, 00:22:03.95\00:22:08.12 "Now this is the confidence that we have in Him, 00:22:08.16\00:22:11.89 that if we ask anything, 00:22:11.93\00:22:13.96 according to His will, He hears us. 00:22:14.00\00:22:17.40 And if we know that He hears us, whatever we ask, 00:22:17.43\00:22:22.00 we know that we have the petitions 00:22:22.04\00:22:24.44 that we have asked of Him." 00:22:24.47\00:22:26.98 God can cause the blind to see, 00:22:27.01\00:22:29.44 the lame to walk, the deaf to hear, 00:22:29.48\00:22:32.38 and the dead to raise, to rise, excuse me. 00:22:32.41\00:22:36.92 He can certainly give someone the victory 00:22:36.95\00:22:39.72 over a narcissistic personality disorder. 00:22:39.75\00:22:43.53 There's nothing that's too big for God. 00:22:43.56\00:22:45.86 Amen. 00:22:45.89\00:22:47.23 Yeah, I like that, Jason, because hope 00:22:47.26\00:22:49.53 because this person obviously here is, 00:22:49.56\00:22:50.90 can my prayers bring about a change in a person? 00:22:50.93\00:22:53.10 Yeah. So to keep on praying, right? 00:22:53.13\00:22:54.74 Absolutely. Yeah. 00:22:54.77\00:22:56.10 Don't give up. Amen. 00:22:56.14\00:22:57.47 Yeah. Thank you so very much. 00:22:57.51\00:22:59.37 Pastor James, Revelation. 00:22:59.41\00:23:01.28 I know you love the Book of Revelation, right? 00:23:01.31\00:23:02.91 And Daniel? Yes. 00:23:02.94\00:23:04.28 Okay. 00:23:04.31\00:23:05.65 "So who are the two witnesses in Revelation Chapter 11? 00:23:05.68\00:23:08.88 And what is meant by their bodies 00:23:08.92\00:23:10.59 shall be seen three and a half days." 00:23:10.62\00:23:12.99 This is from Tamika from Trinidad. 00:23:13.02\00:23:14.79 Thank you very much. Hi, Tamika from Trinidad. 00:23:14.82\00:23:16.59 Well, that's a really good question. 00:23:16.62\00:23:17.96 There are a lot of views on the two witnesses. 00:23:17.99\00:23:20.33 Some say there Elijah, some say, and Moses simply 00:23:20.36\00:23:23.33 because of the plagues that are mentioned there, 00:23:23.37\00:23:26.27 the water turning to blood 00:23:26.30\00:23:27.80 and no rain coming on the earth. 00:23:27.84\00:23:29.94 But we need to remember that Elijah and Moses 00:23:29.97\00:23:32.97 both spoke by the Word of God. 00:23:33.01\00:23:35.34 These two witnesses represent the Word of God. 00:23:35.38\00:23:38.08 The Old Testament and the New Testament 00:23:38.11\00:23:40.25 are the two witnesses of the truth of God, 00:23:40.28\00:23:42.85 of the gospel of God, 00:23:42.88\00:23:44.22 of the sovereignty of God, of the love of God. 00:23:44.25\00:23:46.25 These two witnesses historically, 00:23:46.29\00:23:49.19 in Revelation Chapter 11, 00:23:49.22\00:23:50.83 were attacked during the French Revolution. 00:23:50.86\00:23:53.90 Now, there's a whole chapter you can read 00:23:53.93\00:23:56.03 on this in a book called The Great Controversy. 00:23:56.06\00:23:58.20 It's called the French Revolution 00:23:58.23\00:24:00.40 in the Bible, 00:24:00.44\00:24:01.77 or the Bible in French Revolution 00:24:01.80\00:24:03.14 begins at about 271. 00:24:03.17\00:24:04.51 It gives all the details that we won't be able to cover 00:24:04.54\00:24:06.57 in this short span of time that we have. 00:24:06.61\00:24:08.88 But basically what happened was, 00:24:08.91\00:24:11.01 the French Revolution rose up in about the year 1793, 00:24:11.05\00:24:16.99 and made war on the Bible, 00:24:17.02\00:24:18.85 the Old and the New Testament, 00:24:18.89\00:24:20.22 which had been faithful witnesses 00:24:20.26\00:24:21.59 through the Dark Ages, 00:24:21.62\00:24:23.09 to the truth of God's Word. 00:24:23.12\00:24:24.59 And from 1793 to 1797, these two witnesses were slain. 00:24:24.63\00:24:29.30 The Bibles were thrown out in the streets, 00:24:29.33\00:24:30.90 and they were burned in big piles. 00:24:30.93\00:24:33.23 It seemed as though the Bible was dead in France. 00:24:33.27\00:24:35.87 So this is allegorical, it's symbolic. 00:24:35.90\00:24:39.27 It's representing, these two witnesses 00:24:39.31\00:24:40.74 representing the Old and the New Testament, 00:24:40.78\00:24:42.24 which were attacked and slain in the streets. 00:24:42.28\00:24:44.78 But then it talks about 00:24:44.81\00:24:46.15 how these two witnesses rose up. 00:24:46.18\00:24:48.45 When all of Europe saw what happened to France, 00:24:48.48\00:24:51.05 the devastation that came by rejecting the Bible 00:24:51.09\00:24:53.25 and rejecting God, 00:24:53.29\00:24:54.62 and they saw how hundreds and thousands of people 00:24:54.66\00:24:57.23 were killed and many people left France 00:24:57.26\00:24:59.13 and France just declined, 00:24:59.16\00:25:00.86 they were shocked. 00:25:00.90\00:25:02.23 And all of them took note 00:25:02.26\00:25:03.60 as to how important the Bible is for society. 00:25:03.63\00:25:05.93 And the Bible was after this time exalted. 00:25:05.97\00:25:08.77 Bible Societies raised up all over Europe, 00:25:08.80\00:25:10.87 especially in England, 00:25:10.91\00:25:12.24 and the Bible was printed and published 00:25:12.27\00:25:14.11 in all kinds of different languages 00:25:14.14\00:25:16.21 and in hundreds and thousands of copies. 00:25:16.24\00:25:18.21 And, of course, the Bible is available today. 00:25:18.25\00:25:20.08 So that's a basic summary of these two witnesses 00:25:20.12\00:25:22.88 in Revelation. 00:25:22.92\00:25:24.25 Oh, wow, two minutes. 00:25:24.29\00:25:25.62 It's very good, Pastor James. 00:25:25.65\00:25:26.99 Yeah. Praise the Lord. 00:25:27.02\00:25:29.42 Pastor Ryan, this comes from Boaz, from Kenya. 00:25:29.46\00:25:32.09 Okay. 00:25:32.13\00:25:33.46 "How does 3ABN regard Ellen G. White? 00:25:33.50\00:25:35.60 Do you 3ABN ascribe to her writings 00:25:35.63\00:25:39.00 and thoughts as a prophet, prophetess of God?" 00:25:39.03\00:25:42.90 Well, the simple answer to that is yes. 00:25:42.94\00:25:45.37 And the reason why is because it's backed 00:25:45.41\00:25:46.91 by Scripture and by Bible in the sense that 00:25:46.94\00:25:49.11 we are clearly told in Joel 2:28, 00:25:49.14\00:25:51.48 that in the last days prior to the day of the Lord, 00:25:51.51\00:25:53.65 the coming of the Lord, 00:25:53.68\00:25:55.02 that, that his sons and his daughters 00:25:55.05\00:25:58.29 would prophesy. 00:25:58.32\00:25:59.65 And so this into, obviously we know that God will rise up 00:25:59.69\00:26:02.39 and we're told that He will rise up men and women 00:26:02.42\00:26:04.99 in the last days to prophesy. 00:26:05.03\00:26:06.36 In this case, we believe that that prophetic gift 00:26:06.39\00:26:08.96 was manifested and clearly shown 00:26:09.00\00:26:11.63 through the ministry of Ellen G. White. 00:26:11.67\00:26:14.54 You know, just referencing 00:26:14.57\00:26:15.90 a couple of other scriptures here that 00:26:15.94\00:26:17.31 we believe provide inspiration 00:26:17.34\00:26:19.17 behind why we believe 00:26:19.21\00:26:20.54 this is because in Revelation 12:17, 00:26:20.58\00:26:22.51 given a couple of identifications 00:26:22.54\00:26:24.01 for God's last day remnant movement. 00:26:24.05\00:26:26.38 We are told that the dragon, 00:26:26.41\00:26:27.75 the devil is making war with the woman 00:26:27.78\00:26:29.82 that is the church, 00:26:29.85\00:26:31.19 the remnant of her seed, 00:26:31.22\00:26:32.55 which keep the commandments of God 00:26:32.59\00:26:33.92 and have the testimony of Jesus Christ. 00:26:33.96\00:26:35.82 And, of course, we need not ask or wonder 00:26:35.86\00:26:38.23 what in the world that testimony 00:26:38.26\00:26:39.59 of Jesus Christ means. 00:26:39.63\00:26:40.96 Because when you get to Revelation 19:10, 00:26:41.00\00:26:42.56 it's the Spirit of Prophecy. 00:26:42.60\00:26:44.87 We consider that Spirit of Prophecy a gift. 00:26:44.90\00:26:47.20 It's a gift of prophecy. 00:26:47.24\00:26:48.77 We believe that that gift is very clearly shown 00:26:48.80\00:26:51.41 and manifested through the life, 00:26:51.44\00:26:53.04 through the works and writings of Ellen G. White. 00:26:53.07\00:26:56.04 Now, that being said, I believe very clear, 00:26:56.08\00:26:59.21 I think I can speak for all of us here and you can, 00:26:59.25\00:27:00.88 we can clarify if I'm mistaken here, 00:27:00.92\00:27:02.85 but I believe here at 3ABN 00:27:02.88\00:27:04.52 we very much have put on display 00:27:04.55\00:27:06.05 and clearly showed 00:27:06.09\00:27:07.42 that we believe in the inspiration 00:27:07.46\00:27:08.92 of the Spirit as used through Ellen White. 00:27:08.96\00:27:10.79 We quote her writings, 00:27:10.83\00:27:12.16 we use her writings quite often, 00:27:12.19\00:27:13.80 to give support for the Bible, 00:27:13.83\00:27:16.83 which is above the lesser light. 00:27:16.87\00:27:19.47 Now, I'm referencing that 00:27:19.50\00:27:20.84 because even Mrs. White herself said, 00:27:20.87\00:27:22.34 in referencing her writings. 00:27:22.37\00:27:24.21 And I believe that the same Spirit 00:27:24.24\00:27:25.71 that inspired Mrs. White is the same Spirit 00:27:25.74\00:27:27.51 that inspired the Bible writers. 00:27:27.54\00:27:29.31 But she makes very clear 00:27:29.34\00:27:30.68 under the inspiration of the Holy Spirit 00:27:30.71\00:27:32.28 that her writings is a lesser light, 00:27:32.31\00:27:34.42 leading men and women to the greater light 00:27:34.45\00:27:36.22 of Christ in His Word. 00:27:36.25\00:27:37.72 So the Bible's here, 00:27:37.75\00:27:39.09 Ellen White's writings are here, 00:27:39.12\00:27:40.46 that doesn't mean that they're not important. 00:27:40.49\00:27:42.19 But yet we should put it in its proper perspective. 00:27:42.22\00:27:44.43 And that's why we always go first 00:27:44.46\00:27:46.43 to a thus saith the Lord the Bible first, 00:27:46.46\00:27:48.96 and then oftentimes, we will use the inspiration 00:27:49.00\00:27:51.40 and the gift of the Spirit of Prophecy 00:27:51.43\00:27:53.13 as used through the ministry of Ellen White and her writings 00:27:53.17\00:27:56.37 to bring support and lead men and women back 00:27:56.40\00:27:59.07 to the inspiration of Scripture. 00:27:59.11\00:28:00.61 Amen. Yeah, excellent. 00:28:00.64\00:28:02.04 Yeah, great explanation. Yeah, absolutely. 00:28:02.08\00:28:03.91 We believe in the Word of God for sure. 00:28:03.95\00:28:05.51 Amen. 00:28:05.55\00:28:06.88 And we appreciate the writings of Ellen White 00:28:06.92\00:28:08.28 and the support clarification, you know, as you mentioned. 00:28:08.32\00:28:11.29 Jason, question here, it's a great one. 00:28:11.32\00:28:14.72 "How can I get rebaptized 00:28:14.76\00:28:17.33 into a Seventh-day Adventist Church? 00:28:17.36\00:28:19.43 I'm only 17 years old, 00:28:19.46\00:28:21.86 and have been studying the Bible for months now. 00:28:21.90\00:28:24.50 When I found out that 00:28:24.53\00:28:25.87 the true Bible Sabbath was Saturday, 00:28:25.90\00:28:27.57 the seventh day of the week, I was truly amazed." 00:28:27.60\00:28:30.37 Praise the Lord. Praise God. 00:28:31.77\00:28:33.11 First off, I just want to say that I'm thrilled 00:28:33.14\00:28:35.04 that you found and accepted the truth 00:28:35.08\00:28:38.88 and that you want to get rebaptized 00:28:38.91\00:28:41.18 into the Seventh-day Adventist Church, 00:28:41.22\00:28:42.55 that is wonderful. 00:28:42.58\00:28:43.92 Now, if you're looking 00:28:43.95\00:28:45.29 for a Seventh-day Adventist Church in your area, 00:28:45.32\00:28:46.69 we have a wonderful pastoral team here at 3ABN 00:28:46.72\00:28:50.03 that is more than willing to assist you 00:28:50.06\00:28:52.36 in finding one in your area. 00:28:52.39\00:28:54.06 Just call (618) 627-4651. 00:28:54.10\00:28:58.33 Follow the prompts to get the pastoral team on the phone 00:28:58.37\00:29:03.30 and they will help you find that 00:29:03.34\00:29:05.27 for the sake of our viewers and listeners 00:29:05.31\00:29:07.28 that don't know about the precious Sabbath truth. 00:29:07.31\00:29:10.65 I just want to share with you the fourth commandment. 00:29:10.68\00:29:13.21 I want to read that ever so quickly. 00:29:13.25\00:29:15.75 Exodus 20:8-11. 00:29:15.78\00:29:19.32 It's interesting that this is a commandment 00:29:19.35\00:29:22.26 that begins with remember, 00:29:22.29\00:29:24.56 yet it is most often forgotten. 00:29:24.59\00:29:27.10 "Remember the Sabbath day, to keep it holy. 00:29:27.13\00:29:29.40 Six days you shall labor and do all your work, 00:29:29.43\00:29:32.83 but the seventh day is the Sabbath 00:29:32.87\00:29:34.44 of the Lord your God. 00:29:34.47\00:29:36.07 In it you shall do no work: 00:29:36.10\00:29:37.87 you, nor your son, nor your daughter, 00:29:37.91\00:29:40.18 nor your male servant, nor your female servant, 00:29:40.21\00:29:42.38 nor your cattle, nor your stranger 00:29:42.41\00:29:44.25 who is within your gates. 00:29:44.28\00:29:45.75 For in six days the Lord made the heavens and the earth, 00:29:45.78\00:29:48.78 the sea, and all that is in them, 00:29:48.82\00:29:50.75 and rested the seventh day. 00:29:50.79\00:29:52.62 Therefore the Lord blessed the Sabbath day 00:29:52.65\00:29:55.82 and hallowed it." 00:29:55.86\00:29:57.19 Now when we look at the calendar, 00:29:57.23\00:29:58.79 we see that it starts on Sunday. 00:29:58.83\00:30:01.60 So the first day of the week, Sunday, Monday, 00:30:01.63\00:30:05.00 Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday is the sixth day. 00:30:05.03\00:30:09.20 And Saturday, the Sabbath is the seventh day. 00:30:09.24\00:30:13.21 And so the seventh day Sabbath is a wonderful time, 00:30:13.24\00:30:17.31 where we can reflect 00:30:17.35\00:30:18.68 on all the marvelous things that God has done, 00:30:18.71\00:30:21.72 His creation, 00:30:21.75\00:30:23.08 and spend time with Him and grow closer to Him. 00:30:23.12\00:30:26.22 So if you haven't learned about that, 00:30:26.25\00:30:28.36 we don't have time to go into an exhaustive study 00:30:28.39\00:30:31.03 on it at this time. 00:30:31.06\00:30:32.39 But we have plenty of resources here at 3ABN 00:30:32.43\00:30:35.03 that are available to you. 00:30:35.06\00:30:37.00 Amen. It comes from Shirley. 00:32:22.34\00:32:24.47 "I have a beautiful Sabbath keeping, 00:32:24.51\00:32:27.18 but not Seventh-day Adventist family 00:32:27.21\00:32:29.41 who we regularly meet with. 00:32:29.44\00:32:31.18 A few weeks ago we had a discussion 00:32:31.21\00:32:33.21 about the origin of evil, 00:32:33.25\00:32:35.25 and they are very much of the opinion 00:32:35.28\00:32:37.15 that God is where evil originated from, 00:32:37.19\00:32:40.39 from because of verses like Isaiah 45: 00:32:40.42\00:32:44.13 verse... 00:32:44.16\00:32:45.49 Excuse me, Isaiah 45:7, where God says, 00:32:45.53\00:32:48.63 "He formed light and created darkness." 00:32:48.66\00:32:51.30 Are you able to help with a suitably explanation 00:32:51.33\00:32:53.94 of this verse, please?" 00:32:53.97\00:32:55.60 Amen. 00:32:55.64\00:32:56.97 That is a challenging text. 00:32:57.01\00:32:58.44 But you need to recognize 00:32:58.47\00:32:59.91 that there are other texts in the Bible 00:32:59.94\00:33:01.51 that tell us where evil originated. 00:33:01.54\00:33:04.25 And one of those is Revelation 12:7-9. 00:33:04.28\00:33:07.68 But we need to look at this text and recognize 00:33:07.72\00:33:10.59 what it is actually saying. 00:33:10.62\00:33:11.95 The context of it is talking about 00:33:11.99\00:33:13.32 how God has anointed Cyrus of the Medo-Persian realm, 00:33:13.36\00:33:16.93 to come in and take down Babylon, 00:33:16.96\00:33:19.83 an empire that was given 00:33:19.86\00:33:21.30 a certain amount of probationary time 00:33:21.33\00:33:23.13 to rule and fail to acknowledge God fully. 00:33:23.16\00:33:26.23 And God had to take them down. 00:33:26.27\00:33:27.60 It's in that context that this word evil is used, 00:33:27.64\00:33:30.14 and God is saying, listen, 00:33:30.17\00:33:31.51 and that word evil actually means 00:33:31.54\00:33:32.87 calamity and affliction. 00:33:32.91\00:33:34.24 Listen, I'm the one that comes in 00:33:34.28\00:33:35.61 and takes down these evil empires. 00:33:35.64\00:33:36.98 I bring affliction, I bring justice 00:33:37.01\00:33:38.35 when it's needed at the right time. 00:33:38.38\00:33:40.42 That's the context of Isaiah Chapter 45. 00:33:40.45\00:33:43.52 We also need to remember that many times in the Bible 00:33:43.55\00:33:45.99 God is seen as doing 00:33:46.02\00:33:48.12 what He actually takes responsibility 00:33:48.16\00:33:49.92 for when He's not really doing it. 00:33:49.96\00:33:51.83 The devil is doing it. 00:33:51.86\00:33:53.19 We see this in the story of Job, 00:33:53.23\00:33:54.76 where we see God allowing the devil to come in 00:33:54.80\00:33:58.30 and afflict Job and test Job. 00:33:58.33\00:34:00.17 And Job himself even says in chapters 1 and 2 00:34:00.20\00:34:02.97 that it's God, God takes away, 00:34:03.00\00:34:05.07 God is the one who's doing all of this to me, 00:34:05.11\00:34:07.28 doesn't realize as we do, 00:34:07.31\00:34:09.01 and as Job finally realized 00:34:09.04\00:34:10.48 that it was really the devil behind the scenes. 00:34:10.51\00:34:13.05 Jesus came to make this really crystal clear 00:34:13.08\00:34:15.92 in the New Testament John 10:10, 00:34:15.95\00:34:18.05 Jesus says, "The devil comes to kill, 00:34:18.09\00:34:20.69 to steal, to destroy, but I have come, 00:34:20.72\00:34:23.16 they might have life and have it more abundantly." 00:34:23.19\00:34:24.73 Amen. 00:34:24.76\00:34:26.09 Of course, in John Chapter 14, Jesus says, 00:34:26.13\00:34:28.20 "If you've seen Me, you've seen the Father." 00:34:28.23\00:34:30.13 So Jesus comes to kind of clarify this, 00:34:30.17\00:34:32.37 but it doesn't take God off the hook 100% 00:34:32.40\00:34:35.24 because truly God does have to deal justly with humanity. 00:34:35.27\00:34:39.74 We see that in Sodom and Gomorrah, 00:34:39.77\00:34:41.11 we see that in the flood. 00:34:41.14\00:34:42.48 God isn't the one 00:34:42.51\00:34:43.85 that actually created evil in the sense that 00:34:43.88\00:34:46.31 He's the one that turned Lucifer away 00:34:46.35\00:34:48.15 from truth and righteousness. 00:34:48.18\00:34:49.52 But He did create Lucifer, 00:34:49.55\00:34:50.89 and Lucifer chose to turn away from God to evil and to sin. 00:34:50.92\00:34:54.89 And God takes responsibility for that, 00:34:54.92\00:34:56.79 in the sense that He deals with Lucifer. 00:34:56.83\00:34:59.19 He deals with evil, He deals with sin, 00:34:59.23\00:35:00.96 He takes it down, He brings justice 00:35:01.00\00:35:02.70 in His time and in His way. 00:35:02.73\00:35:04.13 Wow! Amen. 00:35:04.17\00:35:05.50 Yeah, boy, that's to the point. 00:35:05.53\00:35:07.00 Very good. Thank you, Pastor James. 00:35:07.04\00:35:08.64 Praise God. 00:35:08.67\00:35:10.01 Brother Ryan, question from Gary. 00:35:10.04\00:35:11.61 "Who is God in the first angel's message 00:35:11.64\00:35:14.74 where it says, 00:35:14.78\00:35:16.11 'Fear God and give glory to Him and worship Him?'" 00:35:16.14\00:35:19.25 Amen. 00:35:19.28\00:35:20.62 Well, that's a great question. 00:35:20.65\00:35:21.98 And the simple answer is 00:35:22.02\00:35:23.35 we're talking about the completeness, 00:35:23.39\00:35:24.72 the totality of the Godhead, which when it says, 00:35:24.75\00:35:27.59 you know, Fear God and give glory to Him, 00:35:27.62\00:35:29.26 it's talking about God. 00:35:29.29\00:35:30.63 Of course, we know that God, our God, 00:35:30.66\00:35:32.33 the Christian God of the Bible 00:35:32.36\00:35:33.86 is, is a plurality, a combination, 00:35:33.90\00:35:38.33 a unity of three co-eternal persons, 00:35:38.37\00:35:40.47 Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. 00:35:40.50\00:35:42.50 So when we worship God, 00:35:42.54\00:35:43.87 it's not like we're just aiming our worship to one person, 00:35:43.91\00:35:46.91 you know, or the other. 00:35:46.94\00:35:48.28 Like, I'm only going to worship the Father, 00:35:48.31\00:35:49.64 I'm only going to worship the Son 00:35:49.68\00:35:51.01 or I might just worship the Spirit. 00:35:51.05\00:35:52.95 No, when you worship God, you worship Father, 00:35:52.98\00:35:55.22 Son, and Holy Spirit. 00:35:55.25\00:35:56.58 And just some support text for this 00:35:56.62\00:35:57.95 because I know a lot of people, 00:35:57.99\00:35:59.32 there's a lot of confusion out there today 00:35:59.35\00:36:01.06 in regards to this plurality of God. 00:36:01.09\00:36:03.06 Some people state that there's only one God 00:36:03.09\00:36:05.19 in the very rigid sense, 00:36:05.23\00:36:06.56 and they apply it to just the Father and that somehow, 00:36:06.59\00:36:08.76 Jesus is just the Son of God and the Holy Spirit. 00:36:08.80\00:36:11.30 Again, there's a lot of confusion out there. 00:36:11.33\00:36:13.23 People said, "The Holy Spirit's not a person at all." 00:36:13.27\00:36:15.47 But we know that, we know that's not the case. 00:36:15.50\00:36:17.27 In Matthew 3:16-17, where Jesus was baptized, 00:36:17.31\00:36:20.91 we see all three mentioned in present there, 00:36:20.94\00:36:23.24 in the sense that Christ is there being baptized. 00:36:23.28\00:36:25.21 And the Bible says that when He was baptized, 00:36:25.25\00:36:27.08 that the Holy Spirit descended down upon Him 00:36:27.12\00:36:29.08 as in the form of a dove. 00:36:29.12\00:36:30.59 And then also the Father speaks from heaven it says, 00:36:30.62\00:36:33.15 well done, or excuse me, He says, 00:36:33.19\00:36:35.82 "This is My beloved Son in whom I am well pleased." 00:36:35.86\00:36:37.66 So we see the completeness, 00:36:37.69\00:36:39.26 the totality of the Godhead there, 00:36:39.29\00:36:40.90 Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. 00:36:40.93\00:36:42.73 Also, Matthew 28, the Great Commission, 00:36:42.76\00:36:44.73 where Jesus says, when we go and we teach, 00:36:44.77\00:36:47.04 and proclaim the good news, 00:36:47.07\00:36:48.40 we are to also baptize them in the name of the Father, 00:36:48.44\00:36:51.47 the Son, and the Holy Spirit. 00:36:51.51\00:36:53.34 Again, God, God in His completeness, 00:36:53.38\00:36:56.78 Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. 00:36:56.81\00:36:58.81 And, of course, we know the Holy Spirit is God. 00:36:58.85\00:37:00.62 Acts 5:3-4 confirms that, you know, when we, 00:37:00.65\00:37:04.09 when we pray to God, when we serve God, 00:37:04.12\00:37:06.29 when we are obedient to God, in this case, 00:37:06.32\00:37:08.26 Ananias and Sapphira was not, they lie to God, 00:37:08.29\00:37:10.66 and the scripture actually says, 00:37:10.69\00:37:12.03 they lied to the Holy Spirit. 00:37:12.06\00:37:13.63 And so when it says there in Genesis 1:26, 00:37:13.66\00:37:17.23 and let us make man, that's again, 00:37:17.27\00:37:19.67 referencing the unity of Father, 00:37:19.70\00:37:22.50 Son and Holy Spirit, 00:37:22.54\00:37:23.87 who was involved in the divine plans 00:37:23.91\00:37:25.51 of creation, 00:37:25.54\00:37:26.88 and therefore when we're serving God, 00:37:26.91\00:37:28.41 and worshiping Him, 00:37:28.44\00:37:29.78 according to the first angel's message in fearing God, 00:37:29.81\00:37:31.68 and also worshiping Him who made all things, 00:37:31.71\00:37:34.65 obviously, all the Godhead was involved 00:37:34.68\00:37:36.85 in the plans of creation. 00:37:36.89\00:37:38.25 Now Ephesians 3:9 does say 00:37:38.29\00:37:40.06 that Christ was the active person 00:37:40.09\00:37:42.09 who carried out those creative plans. 00:37:42.12\00:37:44.06 He spoke this world into existence. 00:37:44.09\00:37:45.43 But when we worship God, we worship Father, Son, 00:37:45.46\00:37:48.03 and Holy Spirit, because they are God. 00:37:48.06\00:37:51.27 Amen. Yes. 00:37:51.30\00:37:52.67 Praise God. Great answer. 00:37:52.70\00:37:54.90 Jason, question from Tennessee. 00:37:54.94\00:37:57.31 "What is the difference between going by faith 00:37:57.34\00:37:59.97 and going by feelings?" 00:38:00.01\00:38:02.08 Hmm, I believe that came from John Terrius. 00:38:02.11\00:38:04.45 Well, I like to think of faith 00:38:04.48\00:38:06.08 as the ability to tolerate uncertainty 00:38:06.11\00:38:08.38 while trusting in God. 00:38:08.42\00:38:09.85 The Bible defines faith in Hebrews 11:1, it says, 00:38:09.88\00:38:13.66 "Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, 00:38:13.69\00:38:16.49 the evidence of things not seen." 00:38:16.52\00:38:19.36 Hebrews 11:6 says, "But without faith, 00:38:19.39\00:38:22.60 it is impossible to please Him." 00:38:22.63\00:38:25.10 Notice it doesn't say but without feelings, 00:38:25.13\00:38:27.24 it says, "But without faith, 00:38:27.27\00:38:28.70 it is impossible to please Him, 00:38:28.74\00:38:30.61 for he who comes to God 00:38:30.64\00:38:32.64 must believe that He is and that He is a rewarder 00:38:32.67\00:38:36.34 of those who diligently seek Him." 00:38:36.38\00:38:39.28 We cannot rely on our feelings. 00:38:39.31\00:38:42.45 Jeremiah 17:9-10, 00:38:42.48\00:38:45.95 "The heart is deceitful above all things, 00:38:45.99\00:38:48.79 and desperately wicked who can know it? 00:38:48.82\00:38:51.53 I the Lord searched the heart, 00:38:51.56\00:38:53.63 I test the mind even to give every man 00:38:53.66\00:38:56.80 according to his ways, 00:38:56.83\00:38:58.30 according to the fruit of his doings." 00:38:58.33\00:39:01.20 Feelings fluctuate, but our faith shouldn't waver. 00:39:01.24\00:39:04.94 Our faith allows us to claim the promises 00:39:04.97\00:39:07.48 found in the Word of God, 00:39:07.51\00:39:09.21 but our feelings can cause us 00:39:09.24\00:39:10.68 to have a false perception of reality. 00:39:10.71\00:39:13.42 Our faith should be carried out in our works, 00:39:13.45\00:39:15.98 our feelings of carried out can lead us astray. 00:39:16.02\00:39:19.42 Our faith compels us to stand for God, 00:39:19.45\00:39:21.76 our feelings don't. 00:39:21.79\00:39:23.26 Faith operates on principle, 00:39:23.29\00:39:25.06 but feelings are an emotional state 00:39:25.09\00:39:27.50 and can change based on what someone says to you. 00:39:27.53\00:39:31.13 Daniel 3:15-18, 00:39:31.17\00:39:34.24 "Now if you are ready at the time you hear 00:39:34.27\00:39:37.01 the sound of the horn, 00:39:37.04\00:39:38.47 flute, harp," I always mess this word up, 00:39:38.51\00:39:41.38 "lyre, something and psaltery, 00:39:41.41\00:39:44.18 in symphony with all kinds of music, 00:39:44.21\00:39:47.02 and you fall down and worship the image 00:39:47.05\00:39:48.92 which I have made, good! 00:39:48.95\00:39:51.45 But if you do not worship, 00:39:51.49\00:39:53.12 you shall be cast immediately 00:39:53.15\00:39:54.66 into the midst of a burning fiery furnace. 00:39:54.69\00:39:56.86 And who is the god 00:39:56.89\00:39:58.29 who will deliver you from my hands? 00:39:58.33\00:40:00.53 Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego answered 00:40:00.56\00:40:02.73 and said to the king, 'O Nebuchadnezzar, 00:40:02.76\00:40:04.47 we have no need to answer you in this matter. 00:40:04.50\00:40:07.37 If that is the case, 00:40:07.40\00:40:08.74 our God whom we serve is able to deliver us 00:40:08.77\00:40:12.04 from the burning fiery furnace, 00:40:12.07\00:40:13.58 and He will deliver us from your hand, O king. 00:40:13.61\00:40:17.11 But if not, let it be known to you, 00:40:17.15\00:40:19.28 O king, that we do not serve your gods, 00:40:19.31\00:40:21.85 nor will we worship the gold image 00:40:21.88\00:40:23.75 which you have set up.'" 00:40:23.79\00:40:25.12 Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego's faith 00:40:25.15\00:40:27.82 was stronger than their feelings. 00:40:27.86\00:40:29.69 Wow! Praise the Lord. 00:40:29.72\00:40:31.89 Thank you so much, Jason. 00:40:31.93\00:40:33.50 Yeah, powerful, very powerful. 00:40:33.53\00:40:36.63 Let's go to Philadelphia, 00:40:36.67\00:40:38.40 Pennsylvania from Irma, Pastor James. 00:40:38.43\00:40:41.34 "Why are the wicked dead raised 00:40:41.37\00:40:43.84 to just be punished in the fire? 00:40:43.87\00:40:47.01 Isn't leaving them dead punishment enough? 00:40:47.04\00:40:50.38 Who benefits from seeing this? 00:40:50.41\00:40:52.35 What lessons are to be learned from this and by whom?" 00:40:52.38\00:40:56.02 Really good question. 00:40:56.05\00:40:57.39 Thank you so much, Irma. Yes. 00:40:57.42\00:41:00.36 I'm taking a little bit longer on this question I think 00:41:00.39\00:41:02.39 because it is a challenging one. 00:41:02.42\00:41:04.23 A couple of texts, I want us to look at, Jeremiah 17:10, 00:41:04.26\00:41:07.53 "I the Lord search the heart, I try the reins, 00:41:07.56\00:41:10.23 even to give every man according to his ways, 00:41:10.27\00:41:13.07 according to the fruit of his doings." 00:41:13.10\00:41:15.07 That's the Old Testament. 00:41:15.10\00:41:16.44 New Testament says this, "Be not deceived, 00:41:16.47\00:41:18.54 God is not mocked for whatsoever a man sows 00:41:18.57\00:41:21.34 that shall he also reap." 00:41:21.38\00:41:23.71 What we're seeing here is we're seeing the Word of God 00:41:23.75\00:41:26.31 and the Word of God is true. 00:41:26.35\00:41:27.68 So who benefits from the punishment 00:41:27.72\00:41:30.62 that is given out to the wicked in the end of time? 00:41:30.65\00:41:34.22 We do because we see God as being true to His Word. 00:41:34.26\00:41:38.16 But why are they resurrected? 00:41:38.19\00:41:39.79 What's the point? 00:41:39.83\00:41:42.20 Jude verses 14 and 15 say this, "And Enoch also, 00:41:42.23\00:41:45.50 the seventh from Adam, prophesied of these saying, 00:41:45.53\00:41:47.94 Behold, the Lord comes 00:41:47.97\00:41:49.47 with ten thousands of his saints. 00:41:49.50\00:41:50.94 This is the third coming after the thousands years, 00:41:50.97\00:41:53.48 to execute judgment upon all, 00:41:53.51\00:41:55.44 and to convince all that are ungodly among them 00:41:55.48\00:41:58.48 of all their ungodly deeds 00:41:58.51\00:42:00.32 which they have ungodly committed, 00:42:00.35\00:42:03.12 and their hard speeches which the ungodly sinners 00:42:03.15\00:42:06.19 have spoken against him." 00:42:06.22\00:42:07.89 So for some reason, 00:42:07.92\00:42:09.26 God feels the need to convince the wicked, 00:42:09.29\00:42:12.06 the ungodly of all the ungodly things 00:42:12.09\00:42:14.10 they've done, and all the ungodly things 00:42:14.13\00:42:16.13 they have said. 00:42:16.16\00:42:17.50 So when we look at the scriptures, 00:42:17.53\00:42:18.87 there are three points we want to consider. 00:42:18.90\00:42:20.70 Apparently, leaving the wicked dead 00:42:20.74\00:42:23.17 in the grave is not punishment enough. 00:42:23.20\00:42:25.37 It is, in fact, no real punishment at all. 00:42:25.41\00:42:28.24 Since all people saved and lost, good and bad 00:42:28.28\00:42:31.85 die as a natural consequence of sin, 00:42:31.88\00:42:34.72 the entire universe, as well as every raped, 00:42:34.75\00:42:37.99 pillaged, beaten, oppressed, murdered, tortured, 00:42:38.02\00:42:40.22 cheated, abused, deceived, ridiculed, 00:42:40.26\00:42:42.49 and honest, repenting, trusting, 00:42:42.52\00:42:44.26 saved by grace person on planet earth, 00:42:44.29\00:42:47.20 believe that God is merciful, and that God is just. 00:42:47.23\00:42:51.13 The cross of Christ validates justice and mercy, 00:42:51.17\00:42:55.77 the justice and mercy of God. 00:42:55.80\00:42:57.47 And so the world has experienced God's mercy 00:42:57.51\00:43:00.14 for 6000 years. 00:43:00.18\00:43:02.24 And it will also experience God's justice, 00:43:02.28\00:43:04.75 if God is going to be true to who he is. 00:43:04.78\00:43:07.32 Romans Chapter 12 and 13 tell us 00:43:07.35\00:43:09.65 that vengeance is mine, I will repay saith the Lord. 00:43:09.68\00:43:12.92 Who benefits from the fact 00:43:12.95\00:43:14.39 that God is the one that brings vengeance, 00:43:14.42\00:43:16.42 and God is the one that pays? 00:43:16.46\00:43:17.79 We do, because we can leave 00:43:17.83\00:43:19.66 every single person in God's hands. 00:43:19.69\00:43:21.70 We don't need to reap personal vengeance ourselves, 00:43:21.73\00:43:24.83 we can forgive and we can be forgiving, 00:43:24.87\00:43:26.84 and we can hope all things, 00:43:26.87\00:43:28.20 believe all things and endure all things. 00:43:28.24\00:43:30.24 These words are spoken by a Father, who is true, 00:43:30.27\00:43:35.01 a Father, who is just, 00:43:35.04\00:43:36.78 a Father who is hurt by everyone 00:43:36.81\00:43:40.12 that has been hurt, a Father of us all, 00:43:40.15\00:43:43.12 all the pain that we experience, 00:43:43.15\00:43:44.52 God experiences, 00:43:44.55\00:43:46.15 and He is a Father who is going to be fair, 00:43:46.19\00:43:48.12 and He is a Father that is going to be just. 00:43:48.16\00:43:49.59 Even our court systems teach us this. 00:43:49.62\00:43:51.63 And in a court system when justice comes 00:43:51.66\00:43:54.20 to the perpetrator of sin and evil and wickedness, 00:43:54.23\00:43:57.13 there is, in a sense, 00:43:57.17\00:43:59.67 a trust that is built in a person 00:43:59.70\00:44:01.84 who has seen the fairness and the justice 00:44:01.87\00:44:04.31 of that system play out. 00:44:04.34\00:44:05.94 There's a dissonance that needs to be 00:44:05.97\00:44:08.31 alleviated in people's minds and hearts 00:44:08.34\00:44:11.35 when they have been the victims of crime and wickedness 00:44:11.38\00:44:15.55 and God is just as just if not more 00:44:15.58\00:44:18.25 just than our criminal systems 00:44:18.29\00:44:19.95 and He is going to bring the dissonance to an end. 00:44:19.99\00:44:23.49 He's going to bring peace, He's going to bring rest, 00:44:23.53\00:44:26.76 He's going to bring fairness and justice 00:44:26.80\00:44:28.43 to all of those victims of wickedness and evil. 00:44:28.46\00:44:31.00 Wow. Amen. 00:44:31.03\00:44:32.37 Praise the Lord. 00:44:32.40\00:44:33.74 Thank you so much, Pastor James. 00:44:33.77\00:44:35.10 Yeah, that's powerful. Yes. 00:44:35.14\00:44:36.47 You know, and it's comforting. Amen. 00:44:36.50\00:44:37.84 Yeah, thank you so very much. 00:44:37.87\00:44:40.24 Pastor Ryan, Jaycee asked this question. 00:44:40.28\00:44:44.81 "I hardly see Seventh-day Adventist pastors 00:44:44.85\00:44:47.92 slash people laying hands, 00:44:47.95\00:44:50.35 anointing with oil, and speaking in tongues. 00:44:50.39\00:44:54.39 What are the signs and wonders 00:44:54.42\00:44:56.12 that should follow the physical manifestation 00:44:56.16\00:44:58.93 of the Holy Spirit to confirm it is the power of God?" 00:44:58.96\00:45:02.83 Okay, I appreciate this question, Jaycee. 00:45:02.86\00:45:04.93 It's a very, very important question. 00:45:04.97\00:45:07.57 And I think it's something 00:45:07.60\00:45:08.94 that definitely needs to be clarified. 00:45:08.97\00:45:10.57 First of all, I would disagree with your application here 00:45:10.61\00:45:15.34 when you say that you don't see Adventist pastors 00:45:15.38\00:45:17.51 laying hands and anointing with oil. 00:45:17.55\00:45:19.08 I've seen that many times. 00:45:19.11\00:45:20.45 I guess it depends on the need 00:45:20.48\00:45:21.92 of the church members on an individual basis 00:45:21.95\00:45:23.95 because we do try to follow the counsel 00:45:23.99\00:45:26.49 given very clearly there in James Chapter 5, 00:45:26.52\00:45:28.82 where it talks about when a person is sick, 00:45:28.86\00:45:30.59 call upon the elders, 00:45:30.63\00:45:31.96 they will anoint them with oil, they will pray them with, 00:45:31.99\00:45:33.66 with laying on of hands. 00:45:33.70\00:45:35.53 These are things that we definitely believe 00:45:35.56\00:45:37.33 and will practice if individuals 00:45:37.37\00:45:39.43 call upon that service. 00:45:39.47\00:45:41.00 Now, you know, there are a little bit 00:45:41.04\00:45:42.90 of a different application 00:45:42.94\00:45:44.27 in a more charismatic Pentecostal sense, 00:45:44.31\00:45:46.41 where people practice this not just for, 00:45:46.44\00:45:48.94 you know, the biblical principles, 00:45:48.98\00:45:50.31 as we see there in James 5 and other texts, 00:45:50.35\00:45:52.15 but just, you know, dousing people with oil 00:45:52.18\00:45:54.45 and laying them, 00:45:54.48\00:45:55.82 lay hands on them 00:45:55.85\00:45:57.19 for the outpouring of the Holy Spirit 00:45:57.22\00:45:58.55 of which we do not see evidence or instruction for that. 00:45:58.59\00:46:01.52 No, we do see Paul, 00:46:01.56\00:46:02.89 laying hands on people to pray for them. 00:46:02.92\00:46:04.39 And they did receive the Holy Spirit 00:46:04.43\00:46:05.99 in the Book of Acts, 00:46:06.03\00:46:07.36 but there's not an instruction that says, 00:46:07.40\00:46:08.73 you got to do this to get the Holy Spirit, 00:46:08.76\00:46:11.20 and that text is not found in Scripture. 00:46:11.23\00:46:13.13 As far as the signs and wonders, 00:46:13.17\00:46:14.90 the physical manifestation of the Holy Spirit 00:46:14.94\00:46:16.91 in regards to speaking in tongues. 00:46:16.94\00:46:18.71 I want to clarify this clearly. 00:46:18.74\00:46:20.08 Because in 1 Corinthians Chapter 12, 00:46:20.11\00:46:21.54 we need to be clear on this. 00:46:21.58\00:46:22.91 1 Corinthians Chapter 12, 00:46:22.94\00:46:24.28 specifies the many different gifts 00:46:24.31\00:46:25.91 of the Spirit. 00:46:25.95\00:46:27.28 Now, there's a difference between 00:46:27.32\00:46:28.65 the fruits of the Spirit and the gifts of the Spirit. 00:46:28.68\00:46:30.09 The fruits of the Spirit are the evidence 00:46:30.12\00:46:32.65 to be shown for that a person has the Holy Spirit, 00:46:32.69\00:46:35.06 or that the Holy Spirit is working on someone. 00:46:35.09\00:46:37.13 We find the list of the gifts of the Spirit, excuse me, 00:46:37.16\00:46:40.60 the fruits of the Spirit, in Galatians 5:22-23, 00:46:40.63\00:46:44.63 the fruit of the Spirit is love, 00:46:44.67\00:46:46.00 joy, peace, and the list goes on. 00:46:46.03\00:46:47.74 That is how we determine 00:46:47.77\00:46:49.20 if a person has received the Holy Spirit, 00:46:49.24\00:46:51.71 not because of some physical manifestation 00:46:51.74\00:46:54.11 of a gift of the Spirit, 00:46:54.14\00:46:55.48 because the Bible makes it very clear in 1 Corinthians 12, 00:46:55.51\00:46:58.78 that while all these different gifts are listed, 00:46:58.81\00:47:01.32 it says there in 1 Corinthians 12:4, 00:47:01.35\00:47:03.72 "There are diversities of gifts, 00:47:03.75\00:47:05.09 but of the same Spirit." 00:47:05.12\00:47:06.45 But then it goes down a few verses later in verse 11, 00:47:06.49\00:47:08.66 it says, "But one and the same Spirit 00:47:08.69\00:47:10.33 works all these things, 00:47:10.36\00:47:11.73 distributing to each one individually as he wills." 00:47:11.76\00:47:14.90 Not everyone receives the same gift. 00:47:14.93\00:47:16.97 For instance, someone may have the gift of healing 00:47:17.00\00:47:18.90 or the gift of interpretation 00:47:18.93\00:47:20.80 of the gift of tongues 00:47:20.84\00:47:22.17 or another person may have a gift, 00:47:22.20\00:47:23.54 the gift of prophecy, or whatnot. 00:47:23.57\00:47:27.28 And we go on down in this chapter, 00:47:27.31\00:47:28.64 we see that God specifies it in the latter verses, 00:47:28.68\00:47:30.98 verses 28 through 30 of 1 Corinthians 12, 00:47:31.01\00:47:33.45 when he says, "All prophets are all apostles. 00:47:33.48\00:47:35.72 Do all have this gift? 00:47:35.75\00:47:37.09 Do all have gifts of miracles? 00:47:37.12\00:47:38.45 Do all have gifts of healings? 00:47:38.49\00:47:39.82 Do all have gifts of tongues?" 00:47:39.85\00:47:41.19 Obviously, that's not the case. 00:47:41.22\00:47:42.56 So we look for the Holy Spirit 00:47:42.59\00:47:44.09 to be on a person by the fruits that they bear, 00:47:44.13\00:47:46.86 not the gifts that they have. 00:47:46.90\00:47:48.33 Yeah. Amen. 00:47:48.36\00:47:49.70 Thank you very much. 00:47:49.73\00:47:51.07 Great question and great answer to from the Word of God. 00:47:51.10\00:47:53.17 Again, Jason, this, they identify themselves 00:47:53.20\00:47:56.37 as viewer from Florida. 00:47:56.40\00:47:58.61 And great question. 00:47:58.64\00:47:59.97 "I have prayed for years asking the Lord to take away 00:48:00.01\00:48:02.98 my bad temper and pride. 00:48:03.01\00:48:05.45 But He is not answering me. 00:48:05.48\00:48:07.28 What can I do? 00:48:07.32\00:48:08.75 He said He will withhold no good gifts from us." 00:48:08.78\00:48:13.92 I don't typically like to answer a question 00:48:13.96\00:48:15.86 with a question. 00:48:15.89\00:48:17.23 But my question is, 00:48:17.26\00:48:18.59 what action have you taken outside of prayer 00:48:18.63\00:48:21.13 to combat the issue? 00:48:21.16\00:48:22.50 Prayer is imperative. 00:48:22.53\00:48:23.87 And taking action is important as well. 00:48:23.90\00:48:25.83 For example, if we pray for God to remove, 00:48:25.87\00:48:29.10 let's say, our addiction to alcohol or substances, 00:48:29.14\00:48:31.64 but we frequent the local bar, 00:48:31.67\00:48:34.08 then we're not taking practical steps 00:48:34.11\00:48:36.11 to be a co-laborer with God. 00:48:36.14\00:48:39.01 Continue to pray, 00:48:39.05\00:48:40.38 claim the following scriptures and take action. 00:48:40.42\00:48:43.35 Philippians 1:6, 00:48:43.39\00:48:45.29 "Being confident of this very thing 00:48:45.32\00:48:47.66 that he who has begun a good work 00:48:47.69\00:48:49.99 in you will complete it 00:48:50.03\00:48:51.66 until the day of Jesus Christ." 00:48:51.69\00:48:53.90 Philippians 4:13, 00:48:53.93\00:48:56.20 "I can do all things through Christ 00:48:56.23\00:48:58.30 who strengthens me." 00:48:58.33\00:48:59.67 Christ does the heavy lifting, 00:48:59.70\00:49:01.50 but we must be a willing participant. 00:49:01.54\00:49:03.97 The fact that you submitted this question is evidence 00:49:04.01\00:49:07.01 that you desire a change in your life. 00:49:07.04\00:49:10.35 James 1:19-20, "So then, 00:49:10.38\00:49:15.45 my beloved brethren, 00:49:15.48\00:49:16.95 let every man be swift to hear, 00:49:16.99\00:49:19.19 slow to speak, slow to wrath: 00:49:19.22\00:49:21.16 For the wrath of man 00:49:21.19\00:49:22.52 does not produce the righteousness of God." 00:49:22.56\00:49:25.46 Psalm 4:4, "Be angry and do not sin, 00:49:25.49\00:49:30.70 meditate within your heart on your bed and be still." 00:49:30.73\00:49:34.74 Study God's Word and allow Him to shift your perspective. 00:49:34.77\00:49:39.84 James1:2-4, "My brethren, 00:49:39.87\00:49:43.51 count it all joy when you fall into various trials, 00:49:43.55\00:49:46.85 knowing that the testing of your faith 00:49:46.88\00:49:49.58 produces patience. 00:49:49.62\00:49:50.95 But let patience have its perfect work, 00:49:50.99\00:49:53.42 that you may be perfect and complete, lacking nothing." 00:49:53.46\00:49:57.73 So don't give up. 00:49:57.76\00:49:59.09 Hold on to God 00:49:59.13\00:50:00.46 and look for some positive coping techniques 00:50:00.50\00:50:03.47 to help you combat that anger. 00:50:03.50\00:50:05.93 And continue to pray. 00:50:05.97\00:50:07.70 Amen. Yeah. 00:50:07.74\00:50:09.40 Praise the Lord. Thank you so much, Jason. 00:50:09.44\00:50:11.24 Thank you again, for submitting your questions. 00:50:11.27\00:50:12.94 We're running out of time. 00:50:12.97\00:50:14.98 So we've got what we call some extra questions here. 00:50:15.01\00:50:17.68 I'm just gonna put it on the table 00:50:17.71\00:50:19.08 and one or all of you can give your answer to this. 00:50:19.11\00:50:23.49 Let's take this one here from Jeffrey, 00:50:23.52\00:50:26.42 "Please tell me about relationships in the church. 00:50:26.45\00:50:29.09 When and how does God want us to have love relationships? 00:50:29.12\00:50:33.50 I really look around me and I faced a challenge, 00:50:33.53\00:50:36.26 getting an understanding of the matter. 00:50:36.30\00:50:38.03 Does God condemn them? 00:50:38.07\00:50:39.70 Are they illegal? 00:50:39.73\00:50:41.24 Please help open the scriptures to me." 00:50:41.27\00:50:44.51 Interesting question there. 00:50:44.54\00:50:45.87 Any thoughts on that question? 00:50:45.91\00:50:47.24 I would just say God is the one 00:50:47.28\00:50:48.81 who instituted marriage in the garden. 00:50:48.84\00:50:50.71 So He's clearly for relationships 00:50:50.75\00:50:53.11 between a man and a woman 00:50:53.15\00:50:55.52 and the confines love relationship 00:50:55.55\00:50:58.25 and all of that and wants it to end up in marriage 00:50:58.29\00:51:01.62 if that's the right one for that individual. 00:51:01.66\00:51:04.26 So God does not condemn that. 00:51:04.29\00:51:05.79 He does not condemn that. 00:51:05.83\00:51:07.16 Yeah, I thought that's good, Jason. 00:51:07.20\00:51:08.53 He says that marriage is honorable 00:51:08.56\00:51:10.53 and bed is undefiled. 00:51:10.57\00:51:11.97 But there are parameters in relationships 00:51:12.00\00:51:14.17 you don't just love on anyone. 00:51:14.20\00:51:16.07 And God wants us to have commitment to that, 00:51:16.10\00:51:18.81 He wants to direct that, 00:51:18.84\00:51:20.18 He wants that commitment to lead to a relationship 00:51:20.21\00:51:23.85 that is you know, 00:51:23.88\00:51:25.71 with one person and not with several. 00:51:25.75\00:51:27.65 And you said that's in Hebrews? 00:51:27.68\00:51:29.02 Hebrews 13:13, "Marriage is honorable, 00:51:29.05\00:51:31.85 and bed is undefiled." 00:51:31.89\00:51:33.22 Fantastic. 00:51:33.25\00:51:34.59 If you're a man, find you a Proverbs 31 woman. 00:51:34.62\00:51:37.03 If you're a woman, find you an Ephesians 5 man, 00:51:37.06\00:51:39.49 it's the way it goes. 00:51:39.53\00:51:40.86 All right. 00:51:40.90\00:51:42.23 Yeah, and God endorses marriage, 00:51:42.26\00:51:43.60 like you said, between a man and a woman. 00:51:43.63\00:51:44.97 Thank you so very much. 00:51:45.00\00:51:46.33 What we're going to do right now 00:51:46.37\00:51:47.70 is actually take a quick break. 00:51:47.74\00:51:49.07 We'll be right back with some closing comments. 00:51:49.10\00:51:51.64 If you're enjoying our 3ABN Bible Q and A, 00:51:51.67\00:51:54.78 then tell your friends, 00:51:54.81\00:51:56.41 each Monday we'll bring you a fresh program, 00:51:56.44\00:51:59.15 answering the Bible questions you send us, 00:51:59.18\00:52:01.42 using God's Holy Word to shed light on those texts 00:52:01.45\00:52:04.79 that seem difficult to understand. 00:52:04.82\00:52:07.06 To have your questions answered on a future program, 00:52:07.09\00:52:09.69 just email them to us at BibleQA@3abn.tv 00:52:09.72\00:52:14.93 That's BibleQA@3abn.tv 00:52:14.96\00:52:18.73 You may also text your questions 00:52:18.77\00:52:20.40 to (618) 228-3975. 00:52:20.44\00:52:24.41 That's (618) 228-3975. 00:52:24.44\00:52:28.11 Be sure to include your name and where you live, 00:52:28.14\00:52:30.48 and then watch 3ABN Bible Q and A 00:52:30.51\00:52:33.08 for answers from God's Word. 00:52:33.11\00:52:35.15
