One three minute question. 00:03:24.50\00:03:26.40 Before we jump into this, 00:03:26.43\00:03:28.34 Pastor, would you have a prayer for us, please? 00:03:28.37\00:03:30.61 Sure. 00:03:30.67\00:03:32.01 Loving Father in heaven, the blessing is ours 00:03:32.04\00:03:34.24 and the responsibility is ours but, Lord, the power is Yours. 00:03:34.28\00:03:38.81 And we do pray that You'll send 00:03:38.85\00:03:40.18 Your Holy Spirit to be the active 00:03:40.22\00:03:41.82 agent to speak to us and through us. 00:03:41.85\00:03:44.49 We thank You for Your Word, 00:03:44.52\00:03:46.22 which as we read just a moment ago 00:03:46.25\00:03:47.76 is able to make us wise unto salvation. 00:03:47.82\00:03:51.63 And we also pray that our audience 00:03:51.66\00:03:53.50 will not just be listening for information, 00:03:53.56\00:03:57.20 but will be seeking transformation. 00:03:57.23\00:04:00.17 Do the work, Father, that will bring glory 00:04:00.24\00:04:01.94 and honor to You alone. 00:04:01.97\00:04:03.34 We pray in Jesus' name. Amen. 00:04:03.37\00:04:05.84 Amen and amen. 00:04:05.87\00:04:08.21 Pastor Day, we will start with you. 00:04:08.24\00:04:10.61 All right. 00:04:10.65\00:04:11.98 And this question comes from Rona out of Georgia. 00:04:12.01\00:04:15.02 "How do you explain to someone 00:04:15.05\00:04:16.52 who believes in tongues about Acts 11:46?" 00:04:16.55\00:04:21.12 All right. Well, this is a great question. 00:04:21.16\00:04:23.43 I appreciate you sending that in, Rona. 00:04:23.46\00:04:26.19 I just want to make just a slight 00:04:26.23\00:04:27.66 correction because when I was reading your question, I saw... 00:04:27.66\00:04:30.50 When I went to the Book of Acts Chapter 11, 00:04:30.53\00:04:32.30 there's only 30 verses, so. 00:04:32.33\00:04:33.90 But I knew immediately when you asked this question 00:04:33.97\00:04:35.94 of Acts 11:46, 00:04:35.97\00:04:37.34 I knew you meant Acts 10:46 because the previous 00:04:37.37\00:04:40.31 passage verse 46 actually says this. 00:04:40.34\00:04:43.21 In fact, I'm going to back up to Acts 10:44 00:04:43.24\00:04:45.91 and read to verse 46 and notice what it says. 00:04:45.95\00:04:48.48 It says, "While Peter was still speaking these words, 00:04:48.52\00:04:51.49 the Holy Spirit fell upon all those who heard the word. 00:04:51.52\00:04:55.09 And those of the circumcision who believed were astonished, 00:04:55.12\00:04:58.53 as many as came with Peter because the gift 00:04:58.56\00:05:01.13 of the Holy Spirit had been poured 00:05:01.16\00:05:02.86 out on the Gentiles also. 00:05:02.90\00:05:04.77 For they heard them speak with tongues and magnify God." 00:05:04.80\00:05:08.07 That was verse 46, 00:05:08.10\00:05:09.44 "For they heard them speak with tongues and magnify God." 00:05:09.47\00:05:12.11 Of course, this is the situation in which Paul, 00:05:12.14\00:05:14.31 excuse me, Peter is now going to visit Cornelius 00:05:14.34\00:05:17.88 and his family. 00:05:17.91\00:05:19.25 Cornelius was a Roman Centurion, obviously 00:05:19.28\00:05:21.15 he was a Gentile. 00:05:21.18\00:05:22.52 And so this is the first biblical example that we have 00:05:22.55\00:05:25.29 of the Holy Spirit being poured out upon the Gentiles. 00:05:25.32\00:05:29.32 In this case though, it's interesting because many 00:05:29.36\00:05:31.16 people go to this text and try to say, 00:05:31.19\00:05:32.53 "Well you know what, Gentiles were speaking in tongues. 00:05:32.56\00:05:34.93 And because they were speaking in tongues 00:05:34.96\00:05:36.90 and they were magnifying God, 00:05:36.97\00:05:38.37 this is a special heavenly tongue." 00:05:38.40\00:05:39.80 And it goes back to that whole argument that many charismatic 00:05:39.83\00:05:42.80 Pentecostals tried to use to say that there's a special 00:05:42.84\00:05:44.97 heavenly tongue that every Christian 00:05:45.01\00:05:47.31 needs in order to have 00:05:47.38\00:05:48.71 salvation because we have to put forth 00:05:48.74\00:05:51.05 the evidence that we have, the Holy Spirit. 00:05:51.08\00:05:53.38 And they say that that's the gift of tongues. 00:05:53.42\00:05:55.02 But we have to keep in mind that Peter... 00:05:55.05\00:05:57.69 When Peter was speaking to them, of course, 00:05:57.72\00:05:59.82 Peter being a Jew, 00:05:59.85\00:06:01.32 Peter understood what they were saying. 00:06:01.39\00:06:02.72 He understood that they were magnifying 00:06:02.76\00:06:04.09 God because not only were they just speaking in a tongue, 00:06:04.13\00:06:05.69 but they were speaking in the tongue that Peter 00:06:05.73\00:06:07.30 and those around them could hear. 00:06:07.36\00:06:08.93 This happened in the same way that it did on the day 00:06:08.96\00:06:11.37 of Pentecost. 00:06:11.40\00:06:12.73 In fact, Acts 11:15, 00:06:12.77\00:06:14.10 when Peter was describing this same event he said, 00:06:14.14\00:06:16.04 "And as I begin to speak the Holy Spirit 00:06:16.07\00:06:17.84 fell upon us in the beginning," 00:06:17.91\00:06:20.48 speaking of the day of Pentecost. 00:06:20.51\00:06:22.48 What happened on the day of Pentecost? 00:06:22.51\00:06:24.25 Obviously, everyone who received the outpouring 00:06:24.28\00:06:26.25 of the Holy Spirit, they spoke in a worldly known 00:06:26.28\00:06:29.08 language that they were not born with for the purpose 00:06:29.12\00:06:31.99 of communicating the gospel to those 00:06:32.02\00:06:33.76 of a different language. 00:06:33.79\00:06:35.46 That's what happened to Cornelius's family. 00:06:35.49\00:06:37.56 So if you're explaining this to someone, 00:06:37.63\00:06:39.19 it wasn't some heavenly, 00:06:39.23\00:06:40.70 you know, tongue or some language, 00:06:40.73\00:06:42.50 or some jibber jabber or babbling that no man 00:06:42.53\00:06:44.67 can understand. 00:06:44.70\00:06:46.03 These were known languages, and people that were present 00:06:46.07\00:06:47.90 understood it in their language. 00:06:47.94\00:06:49.90 Probably a different language but in their language, 00:06:49.94\00:06:52.47 they understood they're magnifying God. 00:06:52.51\00:06:54.34 They were speaking intelligent words. 00:06:54.38\00:06:56.85 Good answer. Thank you for that explanation there. 00:06:56.88\00:06:59.65 Shelley, we'll come to you. 00:06:59.68\00:07:01.82 We were wondering, 00:07:01.85\00:07:03.18 "For what purpose did God create angels, 00:07:03.22\00:07:05.22 and why before mankind?" 00:07:05.25\00:07:07.49 That's interesting. 00:07:07.56\00:07:09.59 I first want to point out that both in Greek 00:07:09.62\00:07:12.16 and Hebrew, the word for Angel is Messenger. 00:07:12.19\00:07:16.10 And that's what it means and it is used of man, 00:07:16.13\00:07:19.37 and it is used of celestial beings. 00:07:19.40\00:07:21.50 I'm sure you're speaking of celestial beings here. 00:07:21.54\00:07:26.68 I also want to point out, Isaiah 55:8-9. 00:07:26.71\00:07:29.68 God says, "My thoughts are not your thoughts. 00:07:29.71\00:07:32.85 My ways are not your ways. 00:07:32.88\00:07:34.62 My thoughts are higher than your thoughts 00:07:34.68\00:07:37.15 and my ways are higher than your ways." 00:07:37.19\00:07:39.69 The Bible doesn't specifically 00:07:39.72\00:07:41.32 answer your question but there are indications 00:07:41.36\00:07:43.59 and I don't... 00:07:43.63\00:07:44.96 I think the best angel is... Best angel? 00:07:44.99\00:07:47.36 The best answer is simply to say that God created 00:07:47.40\00:07:51.67 angels to do His will and to fulfill 00:07:51.70\00:07:56.60 His purpose for when He created humanity. 00:07:56.64\00:07:59.47 In Hebrews 1:14, the Bible says, 00:07:59.51\00:08:03.11 speaking of celestial beings, 00:08:03.14\00:08:05.68 "Are they not all ministering spirits 00:08:05.71\00:08:08.82 sent forth to minister for those who will 00:08:08.85\00:08:12.59 inherit salvation?" 00:08:12.62\00:08:14.72 So the Bible indicates that angels will be serving 00:08:14.76\00:08:19.33 humanity even in the future. 00:08:19.36\00:08:21.60 God created angels to help 00:08:21.63\00:08:24.33 assist Him in His purposes, to send them 00:08:24.40\00:08:28.07 as messengers to mankind, 00:08:28.10\00:08:31.24 and serve His purpose. 00:08:31.27\00:08:32.77 You know we see angels. They were warriors. 00:08:32.81\00:08:35.18 They were messengers. 00:08:35.21\00:08:36.54 They were protectors of God's people 00:08:36.58\00:08:39.38 and they were ministers to God's people. 00:08:39.41\00:08:43.08 We also see that angels 00:08:43.12\00:08:47.29 ministered in heavenly sanctuary. 00:08:47.32\00:08:51.39 So, the answer is, 00:08:51.46\00:08:54.40 God did create angels before He created humanity. 00:08:54.46\00:09:00.24 I believe that He wanted His team in place 00:09:00.27\00:09:04.54 so that He could minister to humanity properly. 00:09:04.57\00:09:07.44 Amen. 00:09:07.51\00:09:08.84 Well, I'm glad that He did create 00:09:08.88\00:09:10.38 angels before us because, boy, I know mine 00:09:10.41\00:09:13.52 I've been working overtime back in the day. 00:09:13.55\00:09:16.62 Pastor Lomacang, "Jesus was anointed with 00:09:16.65\00:09:19.95 the Holy Spirit at His baptism. 00:09:19.99\00:09:22.39 Why then couldn't the Comforter come until after Jesus left?" 00:09:22.42\00:09:26.73 This comes from Louis out of Pennsylvania Sure. 00:09:26.76\00:09:29.33 Louis, thank you for that question. 00:09:29.36\00:09:30.70 First of all, the Holy Spirit is to continue the work 00:09:30.77\00:09:33.17 of Jesus or the Holy Spirit 00:09:33.20\00:09:35.10 is to be the proponent to continue to follow 00:09:35.14\00:09:38.04 in the footsteps that Jesus established. 00:09:38.11\00:09:40.11 But there was something significant about the work 00:09:40.14\00:09:41.91 of Christ that the Holy Spirit could not do. 00:09:41.94\00:09:45.21 The Holy Spirit is not the Redeemer. 00:09:45.25\00:09:48.02 The Holy Spirit was to point the world to their need 00:09:48.05\00:09:51.29 of a Redeemer. 00:09:51.32\00:09:52.92 If Jesus had not completed the work of redemption first, 00:09:52.95\00:09:57.76 the Holy Spirit could not come to point 00:09:57.83\00:10:00.00 the world to the need for a Redeemer. 00:10:00.03\00:10:02.76 And in His own words, 00:10:02.80\00:10:04.13 Jesus made it clear in John 16:7. 00:10:04.17\00:10:07.20 He says, "Nevertheless, I tell you the truth. 00:10:07.24\00:10:10.07 It is to your advantage that I go away, 00:10:10.11\00:10:12.91 for if I do not go away, 00:10:12.94\00:10:14.28 the Helper would not come to you. 00:10:14.34\00:10:16.51 But if I depart, I will send him to you." 00:10:16.54\00:10:19.75 And the question is, what is he going to do when Jesus leaves? 00:10:19.78\00:10:23.65 And a point I want to make very importantly here 00:10:23.69\00:10:26.29 is the work of the Holy Spirit 00:10:26.32\00:10:28.52 is far more in depth than many people 00:10:28.56\00:10:31.53 even give him credit for. 00:10:31.56\00:10:32.89 That's right. 00:10:32.93\00:10:34.23 John 16:8-11, "And when he has come..." 00:10:34.30\00:10:37.73 Look at what he does. 00:10:37.80\00:10:39.13 "He will convict the world of sin 00:10:39.17\00:10:40.57 and of righteousness and of judgment, 00:10:40.60\00:10:43.20 of sin because they do not believe in me, 00:10:43.24\00:10:45.97 of righteousness because I go to my Father, 00:10:46.01\00:10:49.54 and you see me no more." 00:10:49.58\00:10:51.08 That couldn't be the case if Jesus was still here. 00:10:51.11\00:10:53.95 "And of judgment because the ruler of this world is judged." 00:10:53.98\00:10:56.85 Jesus had to defeat the enemy. 00:10:56.89\00:10:59.45 Jesus had to defeat Lucifer before the work 00:10:59.49\00:11:02.86 of redemption was completed. 00:11:02.89\00:11:04.59 Now, the Holy Spirit can convict the world and say, 00:11:04.63\00:11:07.23 "Now that Jesus has provided redemption, you need that." 00:11:07.23\00:11:11.40 So He was to be the proponent. 00:11:11.43\00:11:12.77 John 16:13-14, 00:11:12.80\00:11:15.00 "However, when He, the Spirit of truth has come, 00:11:15.04\00:11:17.24 He will guide you into all truth. 00:11:17.27\00:11:19.04 For He will not speak on His own authority, 00:11:19.07\00:11:22.31 but whatever He hears He will speak 00:11:22.34\00:11:23.98 and He will tell you things to come. 00:11:24.01\00:11:25.75 He will glorify me, for He will take up 00:11:25.78\00:11:28.92 what is mine and declare it to you." 00:11:28.95\00:11:31.82 Amen. 00:11:31.85\00:11:33.19 Excellent information. 00:11:33.22\00:11:34.59 Pastor Day, this comes from Madeline from Las Vegas. 00:11:34.62\00:11:39.53 "Please, explain these verses from Matthew 24:17-20?" 00:11:39.56\00:11:45.00 Absolutely. 00:11:45.03\00:11:46.37 So thank you, Madeline, for submitting that question. 00:11:46.40\00:11:47.74 I'm going to read the verses 00:11:47.77\00:11:49.10 and then I'm going to give the explanation. 00:11:49.14\00:11:50.47 Matthew 24, 00:11:50.51\00:11:51.84 and I'm actually going to back up to verse 15 because it puts 00:11:51.87\00:11:54.31 it in its proper context. 00:11:54.38\00:11:56.14 So Matthew 24, 00:11:56.18\00:11:57.55 I'm going to start reading in verse 15 to 20. 00:11:57.58\00:11:59.58 It says, "Therefore, when you see the abomination 00:11:59.61\00:12:01.52 of desolation spoken by Daniel the prophet, 00:12:01.58\00:12:04.02 standing in the holy place, 00:12:04.05\00:12:05.62 whoever reads let him understand. 00:12:05.65\00:12:07.59 Then let those who are in Judea flee to the mountains." 00:12:07.62\00:12:10.56 And then here's verse 17, 00:12:10.59\00:12:11.96 "Let him who is on the house top not go down to take 00:12:11.99\00:12:14.40 anything out of this house 00:12:14.46\00:12:15.83 and let him who is in the field 00:12:15.86\00:12:17.37 not go back and get his clothes. 00:12:17.40\00:12:19.23 But woe to those who are pregnant 00:12:19.27\00:12:20.84 and to those who are nursing babies in those days. 00:12:20.87\00:12:24.14 And pray that your flight may not be in the winter, 00:12:24.21\00:12:26.94 nor on the Sabbath." 00:12:26.98\00:12:28.44 This obviously is coming within the context 00:12:28.48\00:12:30.85 of the question that the disciples have asked 00:12:30.88\00:12:32.68 Jesus at the beginning of this chapter. 00:12:32.71\00:12:34.72 It starts... 00:12:34.75\00:12:36.08 The chapter starts out that they're going to Jesus 00:12:36.12\00:12:37.49 privately on the top of the Mount of Olives 00:12:37.52\00:12:39.29 because Jesus had just spoken up the destruction 00:12:39.32\00:12:41.26 of the temple. 00:12:41.29\00:12:42.62 He told them not one stone will be left upon another 00:12:42.66\00:12:44.43 and so it says, "They went to him privately said, 00:12:44.46\00:12:46.13 when will these things be and what will be the signs 00:12:46.16\00:12:49.03 of the end of the age and of your coming?" 00:12:49.06\00:12:51.37 And so Jesus in Matthew 24, 00:12:51.43\00:12:53.00 not only tells the signs 00:12:53.03\00:12:54.70 of the times in reference to His second coming 00:12:54.74\00:12:57.97 but He also, in this particular verses that we just read. 00:12:58.01\00:13:01.31 He's speaking of the details pertaining to the destruction 00:13:01.34\00:13:03.98 of Jerusalem, which happened in 70 AD. 00:13:04.01\00:13:06.78 Now, some support for this obviously... 00:13:06.82\00:13:09.52 Better verses for this is when you 00:13:09.55\00:13:10.89 go to Luke 21 because there's a little bit more explanation, 00:13:10.92\00:13:13.86 a little bit more detail. 00:13:13.89\00:13:15.22 Notice Luke 21:22-24. 00:13:15.26\00:13:17.86 It says, "But when you see Jerusalem 00:13:17.93\00:13:19.86 surrounded by armies, 00:13:19.89\00:13:21.66 then you know that its desolation is near." 00:13:21.70\00:13:23.90 Same thing, when you see... 00:13:23.93\00:13:25.27 Again what Matthew said, 00:13:25.30\00:13:26.63 "The abomination of desolation spoken by Daniel the prophet." 00:13:26.67\00:13:28.50 That's speaking of the latter verses of Daniel Chapter 9, 00:13:28.54\00:13:31.71 talking about the destruction of Jerusalem. 00:13:31.74\00:13:33.94 It goes on to say then, "Let those who are in Judea, 00:13:33.98\00:13:36.81 flee to the mountains. 00:13:36.85\00:13:38.21 Let those who are in the midst of her depart 00:13:38.25\00:13:41.18 and let not those who are in the country enter her." 00:13:41.22\00:13:43.85 This is talking about a time of destruction 00:13:43.89\00:13:45.65 of Jerusalem in 70 AD when Titus, 00:13:45.69\00:13:48.02 the Roman military man, 00:13:48.06\00:13:50.09 he took his armies in and basically 00:13:50.13\00:13:52.66 flooded Jerusalem and destroyed Jerusalem. 00:13:52.69\00:13:54.56 And in this case, Christ was giving them warning to not... 00:13:54.56\00:13:57.90 to flee to not turn back 00:13:57.93\00:13:59.73 and not stay there because if they had have 00:13:59.77\00:14:01.34 stayed there, the righteous, those who were being warned, 00:14:01.37\00:14:04.97 they would have been destroyed along with other millions 00:14:05.01\00:14:09.08 of people that were there in the city at that time. 00:14:09.11\00:14:11.21 So, of course, these verses are referring to 00:14:11.25\00:14:13.11 the destruction of Jerusalem in 70 AD. 00:14:13.15\00:14:16.12 Amen. Thank you for covering that. 00:14:16.15\00:14:18.25 Shelley, "Does John 19:39 00:14:18.29\00:14:22.49 show Nicodemus becoming a believer 00:14:22.52\00:14:24.39 and follower of Christ Jesus?" 00:14:24.43\00:14:25.96 This comes from Jerry out of Michigan. 00:14:25.99\00:14:28.76 Jerry, that is a great question. 00:14:28.80\00:14:31.50 Let's just, kind of, 00:14:31.53\00:14:32.87 look at what the Bible has to say about Nicodemus. 00:14:32.90\00:14:36.00 If you consider John Chapter 3, 00:14:36.04\00:14:38.61 we see that Nicodemus was a prominent Pharisee. 00:14:38.64\00:14:43.11 He was a member of the Sanhedrin, 00:14:43.14\00:14:46.55 the ruling Jewish counselor. And what does he do? 00:14:46.58\00:14:50.72 He was also an authority on Hebrew Scripture 00:14:50.75\00:14:54.39 because Jesus calls him, 00:14:54.42\00:14:56.62 "The teacher of Israel." 00:14:56.66\00:14:58.49 So we know that he was an authority 00:14:58.53\00:15:01.16 of the Hebrew Scriptures, but he was curious about Jesus. 00:15:01.20\00:15:05.93 Something that Jesus said, 00:15:05.97\00:15:07.77 did or whatever the reports he'd heard, 00:15:07.80\00:15:10.97 he was moved by that. 00:15:11.04\00:15:12.77 And he goes to Jesus in the garden at night to ask 00:15:12.81\00:15:17.61 him what must be done. 00:15:17.68\00:15:19.65 And this is when they have the famous conversation 00:15:19.68\00:15:22.15 about being born again. 00:15:22.18\00:15:24.12 Now, something happened to him 00:15:24.15\00:15:27.02 because we see in John 7:51 that Jesus... 00:15:27.06\00:15:31.46 Is supporting Jesus, he, actually, 00:15:31.49\00:15:34.30 defends Jesus before his spirit, 00:15:34.36\00:15:36.87 before the Sanhedrin. 00:15:36.90\00:15:38.50 And he is sharply rebuked 00:15:38.53\00:15:40.70 as he is talking with these high priests 00:15:40.74\00:15:43.54 and Pharisees or the chief priests. 00:15:43.57\00:15:45.87 Now, in John 19, 00:15:45.91\00:15:47.48 I'm going to begin with verse 38. 00:15:47.51\00:15:49.41 I'm just backing that point. 00:15:49.44\00:15:51.35 Listen to what the Bible says, "After this..." 00:15:51.38\00:15:54.72 This is after the crucifixion. 00:15:54.75\00:15:56.99 "Joseph of Arimathaea..." 00:15:57.02\00:15:59.25 That's the rich man in whose tomb Jesus was buried, 00:15:59.29\00:16:03.09 "being a disciple of Jesus but secretly for fear 00:16:03.12\00:16:08.10 of the Jews. 00:16:08.13\00:16:09.46 He asked Pilate that he might take away the body 00:16:09.50\00:16:11.67 of Jesus and Pilate gave him permission. 00:16:11.70\00:16:14.14 So he came, and took the body of Jesus. 00:16:14.17\00:16:16.50 And Nicodemus, 00:16:16.54\00:16:18.97 who at first came to Jesus by night that was in the garden, 00:16:19.01\00:16:23.04 also came bringing a mixture of myrrh 00:16:23.08\00:16:26.82 and aloes about a hundred pounds. 00:16:26.85\00:16:29.18 And they took the body of Jesus. 00:16:29.22\00:16:30.92 They bounded in strips of linen with the spices, 00:16:30.95\00:16:34.26 as the custom of the Jews is to bury. 00:16:34.29\00:16:37.16 And now, in the place where He was crucified, 00:16:37.19\00:16:39.39 there was a garden, in the garden, 00:16:39.43\00:16:41.40 a new tomb in which no one had been laid." 00:16:41.46\00:16:44.37 Now, the interesting thing to me about verse 38 00:16:44.43\00:16:48.67 of John Chapter 19 is Arimathaea, 00:16:48.70\00:16:52.77 Joseph of Arimathea was a secret disciple. 00:16:52.81\00:16:56.04 Well, here we've got Nicodemus with him. 00:16:56.08\00:16:58.71 I personally believe he brought 100 pounds 00:16:58.75\00:17:02.25 of aloe and myrrh that's enough to anoint 00:17:02.28\00:17:05.39 a King for His burial. 00:17:05.42\00:17:07.49 My personal belief is that Nicodemus recognized 00:17:07.52\00:17:12.29 Christ's suffering in His death fulfilled the prophecies 00:17:12.33\00:17:17.30 of the coming Messiah. 00:17:17.33\00:17:19.33 And that he was anointing Jesus as King of the Jews. 00:17:19.37\00:17:24.67 Thank you, Shelley. Thank you. 00:17:24.71\00:17:26.61 Pastor Lomacang, 00:17:26.64\00:17:27.98 you'll have three minutes for this question. 00:17:28.04\00:17:30.08 Okay. 00:17:30.11\00:17:31.45 "I have a question regarding the Apocrypha Bible books. 00:17:31.51\00:17:34.42 Hopefully I have pronounced that correctly, 00:17:34.48\00:17:36.18 the 14 books that were removed from the Bible 00:17:36.22\00:17:38.95 as they are claimed to be. 00:17:38.99\00:17:41.62 They glorify God and agree with the rest of the Bible 00:17:41.66\00:17:45.03 also adding more information to common Bible questions. 00:17:45.09\00:17:48.86 My question is, 00:17:48.90\00:17:50.23 why are they not used in contemporary Christianity? 00:17:50.27\00:17:54.07 Are they fake or something else?" 00:17:54.10\00:17:56.47 Well first of all, let me clarify from the very content 00:17:56.50\00:17:59.31 of your question. 00:17:59.34\00:18:00.74 They were not removed from the Bible. 00:18:00.78\00:18:02.31 They were never added to the Bible. 00:18:02.34\00:18:03.88 That's right. 00:18:03.91\00:18:05.25 You have to look at these books. 00:18:05.31\00:18:06.65 These were books that were Gnostic in many respects. 00:18:06.68\00:18:10.35 These books were used throughout the course 00:18:10.39\00:18:12.55 of human history, and you have... 00:18:12.59\00:18:14.72 They were categorized into two areas, 00:18:14.76\00:18:16.89 those that are accepted books and not accepted books. 00:18:16.93\00:18:20.13 Let me just run through the 14 quickly Ecclesiasticus, 00:18:20.16\00:18:24.00 Wisdom, First and Second Maccabees, 00:18:24.03\00:18:26.47 Tobit, Bel and the Dragon, Judith, Esther and Baruch. 00:18:26.50\00:18:29.57 These were considered as, during the development 00:18:29.60\00:18:33.07 of the Christian era, as accepted books. 00:18:33.11\00:18:35.81 Some of them were quoted in the Septuagint, 00:18:35.84\00:18:38.38 which is the Hebrew New Testament. 00:18:38.41\00:18:41.08 You'll find that those were some of the accepted. 00:18:41.15\00:18:43.15 But when they were further investigated, 00:18:43.18\00:18:46.12 they found that they were incompatible 00:18:46.15\00:18:49.39 with the scriptures we considered today, 00:18:49.42\00:18:51.46 the Canon of Scriptures. 00:18:51.49\00:18:53.06 That's why they were not included. 00:18:53.09\00:18:54.83 You have also that the flat out not accepted books, 00:18:54.83\00:18:58.40 like The Prayer for Manasseh, 00:18:58.47\00:19:00.40 The Song of the Three Holy Children, 00:19:00.44\00:19:02.64 The History of Susanna, First and Second Esdras. 00:19:02.67\00:19:05.77 And the list goes on and on because there are some that say 00:19:05.81\00:19:08.34 that there were 15 books 00:19:08.41\00:19:09.74 and some say there were 16 books. 00:19:09.78\00:19:11.91 But those who compile the scriptures look at them 00:19:11.98\00:19:14.32 and found them inconsistent with the scriptures. 00:19:14.35\00:19:17.39 Let me give you an example. 00:19:17.42\00:19:19.22 The Book of Tobit was supposed... 00:19:19.25\00:19:21.89 It pointed out that Tobit was supposedly alive 00:19:21.92\00:19:25.76 when Jeroboam staged the revolt in 931 BC, 00:19:25.79\00:19:29.50 and was still alive at the time of the Assyrian 00:19:29.53\00:19:31.47 captivity in 1722 BC. 00:19:31.50\00:19:34.27 Yet, the Book of Tobit said he only lived 158 years. 00:19:34.30\00:19:37.77 That's a lot longer that 158 years. 00:19:37.81\00:19:40.51 So how can he have spent almost 200 years 00:19:40.54\00:19:45.05 when in his own writings, it indicated that he lived 00:19:45.08\00:19:47.58 much shorter period of time. 00:19:47.62\00:19:49.28 That inconsistency was there. 00:19:49.32\00:19:51.09 Also you find in Second Maccabees, 00:19:51.12\00:19:53.79 there is a suggestion to pray for the deceased. 00:19:53.82\00:19:57.39 And today, Mormon suggests that, 00:19:57.43\00:19:59.06 you know, pray for the dead. 00:19:59.09\00:20:00.63 Well, that's inconsistent 00:20:00.66\00:20:02.16 with the Bible in Luke Chapter 16 because when your life 00:20:02.20\00:20:05.77 closes the Bible says in Hebrews, 00:20:05.80\00:20:08.10 "It is appointed unto man once to die 00:20:08.14\00:20:10.14 and after that the judgment." 00:20:10.17\00:20:11.57 When you die, your record is closed. 00:20:11.61\00:20:13.17 Nobody can alter that by prayer. 00:20:13.21\00:20:15.61 And the other aspect of it is finally there is no 00:20:15.64\00:20:18.35 claim of any of these books at having divine authority. 00:20:18.41\00:20:22.42 You find books like the Book of Enoch. 00:20:22.45\00:20:25.19 Well, it was called the Book of Enoch but the writer 00:20:25.25\00:20:28.02 was not Enoch, he was an epistle, 00:20:28.06\00:20:31.29 New Testament epistle by the name of Barnabas, 00:20:31.33\00:20:35.26 who wrote this book. 00:20:35.33\00:20:36.67 Why would he use the name Enoch? 00:20:36.70\00:20:38.23 To try to gain credibility. 00:20:38.30\00:20:40.27 If I use a name that is established 00:20:40.30\00:20:42.27 in Scripture as a person of authority 00:20:42.30\00:20:44.04 and credibility, maybe people will read it. 00:20:44.07\00:20:47.44 Well, the church fathers realized that as they went 00:20:47.48\00:20:50.65 through the writings in specificity that they 00:20:50.68\00:20:53.58 did not match the Canon of Scriptures. 00:20:53.62\00:20:55.88 Quite a bit of conflicts, stories that would just 00:20:55.92\00:21:00.86 may be applicable to those times but not 00:21:00.89\00:21:03.86 relevant to the Canon of Scriptures. 00:21:03.89\00:21:06.03 And they wanted to minimize any conflict 00:21:06.06\00:21:08.73 and controversy from these extra biblical writings, 00:21:08.76\00:21:12.90 so they were never added to the Bible. 00:21:12.93\00:21:14.50 Amen. Great answer. 00:21:14.57\00:21:15.90 Wow, that's deep. That is deep. 00:21:15.94\00:21:18.87 If you have any questions that you would 00:21:18.91\00:21:21.31 like to send in for a future program, 00:21:21.34\00:21:23.48 you can email them to BibleQA@3abn.tv 00:21:23.51\00:21:28.68 or you can text your questions 00:21:28.75\00:21:30.45 to (618) 228-3975. 00:21:30.49\00:21:35.72 These questions are great that are coming in and you 00:21:35.76\00:21:38.86 want to add something. 00:21:38.89\00:21:40.23 Just real quickly, that was a three-minute answer. 00:21:40.26\00:21:42.66 But, you know, if you want to get into the depth of it, 00:21:42.70\00:21:44.77 I would recommend that you do some research on your own, 00:21:44.80\00:21:47.40 and you'll find out quite a bit more. 00:21:47.44\00:21:49.00 So don't take that three-minute answer and say, 00:21:49.04\00:21:50.71 "That's the capsule of that, but that's three minutes." 00:21:50.74\00:21:53.84 Juiced version. 00:21:53.88\00:21:55.21 That was incredible to be able to put it into three minutes. 00:21:55.28\00:21:58.58 Pastor Day, this comes from Edith out of New York. 00:21:58.65\00:22:02.22 "Please, explain the four creatures in Ezekiel?" 00:22:02.25\00:22:05.52 Okay. Well, the best way I can explain 00:22:05.55\00:22:07.06 the four living creatures in Ezekiel is letting Ezekiel 00:22:07.09\00:22:09.66 explain the four living creatures. 00:22:09.69\00:22:11.03 Let's read the text there in Ezekiel 1:5-11. 00:22:11.06\00:22:15.00 Of course, we see these four living creatures come up 00:22:15.03\00:22:17.33 multiple times between Ezekiel 1 and Chapter 10. 00:22:17.37\00:22:21.00 But notice verses 5-11 in Ezekiel 1. 00:22:21.04\00:22:23.97 It says, "Also from within, 00:22:24.01\00:22:25.84 it came the likeness of four living creatures 00:22:25.87\00:22:27.88 and this was their appearance. 00:22:27.91\00:22:29.24 They had the likeness of a man. 00:22:29.28\00:22:30.61 Each one had four faces and each one had four wings." 00:22:30.65\00:22:33.82 So these are talking about cherubims. 00:22:33.85\00:22:35.78 This says, "Their legs were straight 00:22:35.82\00:22:37.15 and the soles of their feet were like the soles 00:22:37.19\00:22:39.35 of calf's feet. 00:22:39.39\00:22:40.72 They sparkled like the color of burnished bronze. 00:22:40.76\00:22:43.26 The hands of the man were under their wings on their four sides 00:22:43.29\00:22:48.90 and each of the four had faces and wings." 00:22:48.93\00:22:52.67 It says, "Their wings touched one another. 00:22:52.70\00:22:54.40 The creatures did not turn when they went but each 00:22:54.44\00:22:56.77 one went straightforward 00:22:56.81\00:22:58.31 as for the likeness of their faces. 00:22:58.37\00:23:00.34 Each one had the face of a man. 00:23:00.38\00:23:02.21 Each of the four had the face of a lion on the right side. 00:23:02.24\00:23:05.45 Each of the four had the face of an ox on the left side. 00:23:05.48\00:23:08.35 Each of the four had the face of an eagle. 00:23:08.42\00:23:10.72 Thus where their faces, their wings stretched upward 00:23:10.75\00:23:13.56 two wings of each one touched one another 00:23:13.59\00:23:16.52 and two covered their bodies." 00:23:16.56\00:23:18.76 These are cherubims. 00:23:18.83\00:23:20.16 Cherubims are mentioned many, many times in Scripture, 00:23:20.20\00:23:23.20 having a double set of wings or four wings. 00:23:23.23\00:23:25.93 In this case their wings... 00:23:25.97\00:23:27.34 two wings touch one another, two wings, of course, 00:23:27.37\00:23:30.41 covered their bodies. 00:23:30.44\00:23:31.87 These are a little bit different than what we 00:23:31.91\00:23:33.27 see in Revelation with the seraphim. 00:23:33.31\00:23:35.04 Seraphim had six wings. 00:23:35.08\00:23:36.61 And, of course, these cherubims had four different faces, 00:23:36.64\00:23:40.82 versus the seraphim we see in Revelation 00:23:40.85\00:23:43.02 only had one face. 00:23:43.05\00:23:44.39 Very similar in the sense that it's an eagle, 00:23:44.42\00:23:46.39 you know face of a man, the calf and of course, 00:23:46.42\00:23:49.66 also the face of the lion. 00:23:49.69\00:23:51.13 But these cherubims, of course they... 00:23:51.16\00:23:52.93 If you do a research in Scripture, 00:23:52.96\00:23:54.30 you'll find that they carry out the work of God, 00:23:54.30\00:23:56.83 whatever God asked them to do. 00:23:56.87\00:23:58.73 They are God's helpers. They do God's work for them. 00:23:58.80\00:24:01.57 For instance, they also help to transport 00:24:01.64\00:24:03.64 God in the mobility of God's throne in the movement. 00:24:03.67\00:24:06.98 We see that in the Book of Revelation, 00:24:07.01\00:24:08.64 as well as in the Book of Ezekiel as well, 00:24:08.68\00:24:10.78 Ezekiel Chapter 10. 00:24:10.81\00:24:12.15 So, these are cherubims. 00:24:12.21\00:24:13.55 They are types of angels. 00:24:13.58\00:24:15.08 If you hear the word cherubims, 00:24:15.12\00:24:16.48 seraphims, these are different types of angelic hosts that God 00:24:16.52\00:24:20.79 created to serve Him. 00:24:20.82\00:24:22.76 Seraphims, of course, their job 00:24:22.79\00:24:24.36 is more of in the work of praise. 00:24:24.39\00:24:26.59 They praise God all the time. 00:24:26.63\00:24:28.13 So, this is what we're describing 00:24:28.16\00:24:29.90 here in Ezekiel are definitely cherubims, 00:24:29.93\00:24:32.40 and they carry out the work of God. 00:24:32.43\00:24:34.14 They're angels. 00:24:34.17\00:24:35.80 I love how you said, 00:24:35.84\00:24:37.17 "Well, we'll just let Ezekiel explain that." 00:24:37.21\00:24:38.87 Well, it's the best way to be. 00:24:38.94\00:24:40.74 He's great detail Absolutely. 00:24:40.78\00:24:43.24 Shelley, you'll have three minutes for this question. 00:24:43.28\00:24:46.21 "Please explain Romans 8:16-17." 00:24:46.25\00:24:50.69 Okay, and that's from David in Maryland. 00:24:50.72\00:24:52.42 David, thank you for this question. 00:24:52.45\00:24:54.29 We're going to back up to Romans 8:13. 00:24:54.32\00:24:56.66 See this in context. 00:24:56.69\00:24:58.69 In Romans 8:13, it says, 00:24:58.76\00:25:01.10 "If you live according to the flesh you will die 00:25:01.13\00:25:03.40 but if by the Spirit you put to death the deeds of the body, 00:25:03.43\00:25:08.07 you will live." 00:25:08.10\00:25:09.67 Notice, we need the power 00:25:09.70\00:25:12.67 of the Holy Spirit to help us put to death 00:25:12.71\00:25:17.15 the deeds of the flesh. 00:25:17.18\00:25:19.01 In other words, the Holy Spirit isn't forcing God's will on us, 00:25:19.08\00:25:23.65 but we can't do it by ourselves. 00:25:23.69\00:25:26.19 It's us and the spirit working together. 00:25:26.22\00:25:29.32 He also helps us in our weaknesses. 00:25:29.36\00:25:31.99 He leads us in prayer. 00:25:32.06\00:25:33.43 If we look at verse 26 of Romans 8, it says, 00:25:33.46\00:25:37.77 "The Spirit helps in our weaknesses. 00:25:37.80\00:25:39.43 We don't know how we should pray as we ought. 00:25:39.47\00:25:41.74 But the Spirit himself makes intercessions for us." 00:25:41.77\00:25:45.87 Now, Romans 8:14 says, 00:25:45.91\00:25:49.61 "As many as are led by the Spirit of God, 00:25:49.64\00:25:53.38 these are the sons of God." 00:25:53.42\00:25:56.08 His leading is not mystical. 00:25:56.12\00:25:59.55 His leading, His empowering helps us to put to death 00:25:59.59\00:26:03.53 the misdeeds of the flesh. 00:26:03.56\00:26:05.69 And His presence in our life 00:26:05.76\00:26:08.60 is the assurance that we are a child of God. 00:26:08.63\00:26:12.57 In verse 15, He says, 00:26:12.60\00:26:14.37 "You didn't receive the spirit of bondage to fear. 00:26:14.40\00:26:17.07 You receive the spirit of adoption by whom we cry out, 00:26:17.11\00:26:22.41 Abba Father." 00:26:22.48\00:26:23.81 Oh, that's a tender precious expression. 00:26:23.85\00:26:28.15 Abba means, daddy, papa. 00:26:28.18\00:26:30.42 So, when the Holy Spirit is in our heart... 00:26:30.45\00:26:33.39 Paul wrote in Galatians 4:6 00:26:33.42\00:26:36.49 "Because you are sons of God, 00:26:36.52\00:26:39.66 daughters of God, God has sent forth the Spirit 00:26:39.69\00:26:42.96 of His Son into your hearts, crying out, 'Abba Father.'" 00:26:43.00\00:26:47.64 And this shows an intimate relationship that we have 00:26:47.67\00:26:52.07 with God when His Spirit's living in us. 00:26:52.11\00:26:54.48 Now to your question, Romans 8:16-17, 00:26:54.51\00:26:59.45 "The Spirit Himself bears 00:26:59.48\00:27:00.88 witness with our spirit that we are children of God 00:27:00.92\00:27:04.69 and if children, then the heirs, heirs of God, 00:27:04.72\00:27:08.16 and joint heirs of Christ. 00:27:08.19\00:27:10.26 If indeed we suffered with Him that we may 00:27:10.29\00:27:13.73 also be glorified together." 00:27:13.76\00:27:17.33 We must have the Holy Spirit. 00:27:17.37\00:27:20.97 He is the agent of our adoption. 00:27:21.00\00:27:23.94 He is the agent of our recreation, 00:27:23.97\00:27:28.01 our new birth. 00:27:28.04\00:27:29.48 Titus 3:4 and 6 says, 00:27:29.51\00:27:32.55 "When the kindness of the love of God our Savior 00:27:32.61\00:27:35.72 toward man appeared, not by works of righteousness 00:27:35.78\00:27:40.02 which we have done but by His mercy. 00:27:40.06\00:27:42.26 He saved us through the washing of regeneration 00:27:42.32\00:27:46.96 and renewal of the Holy Spirit, 00:27:47.00\00:27:49.80 who may pour out abundantly on us 00:27:49.83\00:27:52.20 through Jesus Christ our Savior." 00:27:52.23\00:27:54.37 So His leading provides us assurance of salvation. 00:27:54.40\00:27:59.44 You know why? 00:27:59.47\00:28:00.88 We're seeing the fruit that He's developing in us. 00:28:00.91\00:28:03.24 The fruit of the Spirit, Galatians 5:22-23, 00:28:03.28\00:28:07.48 "He makes us heirs of eternal salvation." 00:28:07.52\00:28:11.05 Hebrews 1:2 says, 00:28:11.09\00:28:12.45 "Christ has been appointed heir of all things 00:28:12.49\00:28:16.02 when we share in His kingdom of glory with Him 00:28:16.06\00:28:20.63 as a child of God." 00:28:20.66\00:28:22.53 If we suffer with Him, 00:28:22.56\00:28:23.90 it doesn't necessarily mean physical persecution. 00:28:23.93\00:28:27.87 We could be ridiculed on his behalf. 00:28:27.90\00:28:31.31 Or it could be just the suffering 00:28:31.34\00:28:34.31 of submitting our will entirely to God, 00:28:34.34\00:28:37.75 resisting temptation, as Jesus had to suffer. 00:28:37.78\00:28:41.52 But on this side of eternity, 00:28:41.55\00:28:43.99 we'll have many, many struggles. 00:28:44.02\00:28:46.52 But we're disciplined as we walk with the Holy Spirit 00:28:46.55\00:28:50.43 go through His process of sanctification being 00:28:50.46\00:28:53.76 set apart from sin. 00:28:53.80\00:28:55.10 Amen and amen. Excellent explanation. 00:28:55.13\00:28:56.77 It always amazes me 00:28:56.80\00:28:58.13 how God longs for a relationship with each 00:28:58.17\00:29:01.14 and every one of us. 00:29:01.17\00:29:02.57 Absolutely. That's incredible. 00:29:02.60\00:29:03.94 Pastor Lomacang, 00:29:03.97\00:29:05.34 we have a question here from Amanda out of Uniontown. 00:29:05.37\00:29:10.15 She says, "Please, explain 00:29:10.18\00:29:11.61 what the trumpets are in Revelation Chapter 8 and 9?" 00:29:11.65\00:29:17.02 Is it two minutes? 00:29:17.05\00:29:20.42 Amanda, I'm going to squeeze these oranges 00:29:20.46\00:29:22.12 as quickly as I can. 00:29:22.19\00:29:23.66 The seven trumpets is an interesting study. 00:29:23.69\00:29:25.86 It has taken so many positions of controversy, 00:29:25.89\00:29:29.56 even within the school of the most accepted beliefs. 00:29:29.60\00:29:33.30 There are about five or six different interpretations 00:29:33.34\00:29:35.37 and variations of what the trumpets mean, 00:29:35.44\00:29:37.67 which in fact indicates that it is still unfolding. 00:29:37.71\00:29:41.78 It is the understanding of it. 00:29:41.81\00:29:43.55 Two of the main positions about the seven trumpets are one. 00:29:43.58\00:29:47.05 They cover the same period as the seven seals of Revelation. 00:29:47.08\00:29:50.09 The second one is the seven trumpets are introduced 00:29:50.12\00:29:53.36 onto the seventh seal of Revelation. 00:29:53.39\00:29:55.36 And the second category people point to Revelation 8 00:29:55.39\00:29:58.86 when the seventh seal is opened, 00:29:58.93\00:30:00.96 and then the seven trumpets are introduced. 00:30:00.96\00:30:04.10 Given from the various schools, they refer to God's 00:30:04.13\00:30:06.87 intervention in the human history of His people. 00:30:06.90\00:30:10.24 The response of God in response to the prayers of a saints. 00:30:10.27\00:30:15.64 The point of the matter is God intervenes throughout human 00:30:15.68\00:30:18.08 history in behalf of the saints. 00:30:18.11\00:30:20.05 Also, the seven trumpets revealed 00:30:20.08\00:30:21.65 God's judgments on those that persecute 00:30:21.68\00:30:24.62 the people of God. 00:30:24.65\00:30:25.99 You find God's protecting care is always with His people. 00:30:26.05\00:30:29.32 But the points that are made that are something 00:30:29.36\00:30:31.59 we should not overlook. 00:30:31.63\00:30:32.96 The seven trumpets are not the seven last plagues 00:30:32.99\00:30:35.53 because they are described in the Bible 00:30:35.56\00:30:37.70 as being mixed with mercy. 00:30:37.73\00:30:40.47 But the fifth trumpet is one that brings about... 00:30:40.50\00:30:43.27 It narrows down the definition because most all 00:30:43.30\00:30:46.81 who described the trumpets indicate that the fifth trumpet 00:30:46.84\00:30:50.18 describes satanic activity, 00:30:50.21\00:30:52.28 the star that fell from heaven in Revelation 9:1. 00:30:52.31\00:30:55.08 You can read that yourself. 00:30:55.15\00:30:56.69 But Isaiah the prophet says, 00:30:56.72\00:30:58.85 "How art thou fallen from heaven, 00:30:58.92\00:31:00.59 O Lucifer, son of the morning." 00:31:00.62\00:31:02.29 Luke 10:18 Jesus said, 00:31:02.36\00:31:03.86 "I saw Satan like lightning fall from heaven." 00:31:03.89\00:31:06.43 So it's undoubtedly in Revelation, 00:31:06.46\00:31:08.33 the war broke out in heaven, and Satan and his angels 00:31:08.36\00:31:10.60 were cast to the earth, 00:31:10.63\00:31:12.00 demonic activity clearly being described. 00:31:12.03\00:31:14.47 The abyss that is talked about is indicative 00:31:14.50\00:31:17.74 of Luke 8:31, when the angels, the evil angel says, 00:31:17.77\00:31:22.01 "Are you going to cast us into the abyss?" 00:31:22.04\00:31:24.15 But then you find in Revelation 9:4, 00:31:24.18\00:31:26.61 those who are not going to be harmed or those 00:31:26.65\00:31:28.85 who are protected by being covered by the seal of God. 00:31:28.88\00:31:32.52 And it's amazing that the only 00:31:32.55\00:31:33.92 place in Revelation that the entire phrase, 00:31:33.96\00:31:36.39 the seal of God on their foreheads 00:31:36.42\00:31:37.89 is mentioned is in Revelation 9:4. 00:31:37.93\00:31:40.26 And finally, the reason why we know that Satan 00:31:40.30\00:31:42.20 is involved in this persecution that God's 00:31:42.23\00:31:44.97 people are protected from, is it says in Revelation 9:11. 00:31:45.00\00:31:49.14 These locusts, which are evil angels according to Joel 2, 00:31:49.17\00:31:52.87 had a king over them. 00:31:52.91\00:31:54.24 He's described as Abaddon and Apollyon, 00:31:54.28\00:31:57.01 the angel of destruction and the angel that destroys. 00:31:57.05\00:32:00.92 In nutshell, the seven trumpets 00:32:00.95\00:32:03.02 indicate by God that the day of judgment is soon to close. 00:32:03.05\00:32:07.09 This is the time to accept salvation. 00:32:07.12\00:32:09.29 Yeah. 00:32:09.32\00:32:10.66 There's no way to put that in two minutes. 00:32:10.69\00:32:12.26 That's a lot. That's five hours of study. 00:32:12.29\00:32:16.36 Pastor Day, about Lucifer, 00:32:16.40\00:32:19.07 "When Michael and his angels battled with Lucifer 00:32:19.10\00:32:21.67 and his angels and hurled them down to the earth. 00:32:21.70\00:32:24.21 They called him Dragon, then the original serpent, 00:32:24.24\00:32:27.21 then devil, Satan, the deceiver. 00:32:27.24\00:32:29.81 Jehovah named him Lucifer. 00:32:29.84\00:32:32.18 Did Jehovah take that name back 00:32:32.25\00:32:34.18 and he is no longer allowed to us anymore? 00:32:34.22\00:32:39.29 Or was he not worthy to use 00:32:39.32\00:32:42.19 this name once he sinned against Jehovah?" 00:32:42.26\00:32:45.66 Okay yeah, I think I understand what this person's asking. 00:32:45.73\00:32:48.26 And I just want to just state... 00:32:48.30\00:32:50.40 just right off the cuff that I have read 00:32:50.43\00:32:53.07 and study the scripture through. 00:32:53.10\00:32:54.44 I'm aware of no text 00:32:54.47\00:32:56.04 where the Bible specifically says that God gave him 00:32:56.10\00:32:58.77 the name Lucifer, obviously, 00:32:58.81\00:33:00.71 you know in eternities passed when he was created. 00:33:00.74\00:33:03.61 And then after he fell or after he was cast down to the earth, 00:33:03.65\00:33:06.92 that he repossessed or took back that name. 00:33:06.95\00:33:09.68 The Bible just simply does not provide that information. 00:33:09.72\00:33:12.72 In fact, we have evidence contrary to that even 00:33:12.79\00:33:15.86 after he had fallen, even after he had been 00:33:15.89\00:33:17.89 cast to the earth, even after even the fall of men. 00:33:17.93\00:33:20.73 We see evidence here very clearly, 00:33:20.76\00:33:22.60 even in the Book of Isaiah which was written, 00:33:22.66\00:33:25.27 you know, about 700 to 730 years before Christ, 00:33:25.33\00:33:29.40 so the earlies, you know, late 700 BC. 00:33:29.44\00:33:33.31 We see here that Isaiah writes from God's perspective. 00:33:33.34\00:33:37.08 He was obviously under the inspiration of the Holy Spirit. 00:33:37.11\00:33:40.08 But we see here in Isaiah 14:12, 00:33:40.12\00:33:43.32 notice the name is used here, 00:33:43.35\00:33:44.92 "How art thou fallen from heaven, 00:33:44.95\00:33:46.76 O Lucifer, son of the morning. 00:33:46.79\00:33:49.72 How you art cut to the ground, you who weakened the nations." 00:33:49.76\00:33:55.63 Notice this is in the past tense. 00:33:55.66\00:33:57.00 He's speaking here 00:33:57.03\00:33:58.37 about the work that in the sinful work, 00:33:58.40\00:33:59.73 in the arbitrary work that he's already done 00:33:59.77\00:34:04.77 in the aftermath of his being cast to the earth." 00:34:04.81\00:34:06.94 And so it goes on to say in verse 13, 00:34:06.98\00:34:08.94 "For you have said in your heart, 00:34:08.98\00:34:10.31 I will ascend into the heaven. 00:34:10.35\00:34:11.68 I will exalt my throne above the stars of God. 00:34:11.71\00:34:13.25 I will sit also upon the mount 00:34:13.28\00:34:14.62 of the congregation on the far sides of the north." 00:34:14.65\00:34:16.42 And you can read through there all 00:34:16.45\00:34:18.05 of these things that the Father is addressing towards Lucifer, 00:34:18.09\00:34:21.39 all that he has done 00:34:21.42\00:34:22.76 and what will happen because of what he has done. 00:34:22.82\00:34:25.36 And so very clearly, I don't think that, 00:34:25.39\00:34:27.40 you know, Lucifer, obviously Lucifer was the name 00:34:27.46\00:34:29.86 God had given him, you know, these other words like Satan 00:34:29.90\00:34:32.50 is obviously from the Hebrew transliteration, 00:34:32.53\00:34:35.50 which we use a kind of like names. 00:34:35.57\00:34:37.31 Like we call him Satan, almost like we call somebody 00:34:37.34\00:34:39.87 Jim, Bob, Stanley, Nancy on a first name basis. 00:34:39.91\00:34:43.61 But Satan is simply a title, 00:34:43.65\00:34:45.11 which means enemy, adversary, accuser. 00:34:45.15\00:34:47.62 These are titles. 00:34:47.65\00:34:48.98 But Lucifer was his actual name given by God. 00:34:49.05\00:34:51.55 And there's no evidence in Scripture that we can find 00:34:51.59\00:34:53.69 where God took back that name and said, 00:34:53.72\00:34:55.52 "No, you can't have that name now." 00:34:55.59\00:34:57.03 That's his name. 00:34:57.06\00:34:58.39 The Bible calls him Lucifer, 00:34:58.43\00:34:59.76 and I think it's okay for us to call him that as well. 00:34:59.79\00:35:02.20 Thank you, Pastor Day. Thank you. 00:35:02.26\00:35:04.40 Shelley, "We have believed for the longest time 00:35:04.43\00:35:07.24 that the world is a ball shooting 00:35:07.27\00:35:09.17 through an ever expanding universe. 00:35:09.20\00:35:11.24 The question is simple. 00:35:11.27\00:35:12.67 Is this what the Bible teaches? 00:35:12.74\00:35:14.58 And is science supporting what the Bible says, 00:35:14.61\00:35:18.45 or is it directly opposing it?" 00:35:18.48\00:35:20.32 No. This is from Reber in Nairobi, Kenya. 00:35:20.35\00:35:23.89 Let me give you four quick points. 00:35:23.92\00:35:26.35 Centuries ago, scientists believe 00:35:26.42\00:35:27.99 the earth was flat and if you will sail too far 00:35:28.02\00:35:30.39 you are going to fall off it. 00:35:30.43\00:35:31.76 But Isaiah 40:22 says, 00:35:31.79\00:35:33.83 "He who sits above the circle of the earth..." 00:35:33.86\00:35:36.87 The Bible identified and presented the world 00:35:36.90\00:35:40.20 as spherical in form before science realized it. 00:35:40.24\00:35:43.64 Two, ancient scientists believed 00:35:43.67\00:35:46.11 the earth was stationary. 00:35:46.14\00:35:47.78 It was on foundation. 00:35:47.81\00:35:49.68 The Greek mythology, 00:35:49.71\00:35:51.05 you have the atlas with the world on its shoulders. 00:35:51.08\00:35:53.88 Job 26:7 says, "He stretches out the North over empty space. 00:35:53.92\00:35:59.85 He hangs the earth on nothing." 00:35:59.89\00:36:03.32 So it took science thousands 00:36:03.36\00:36:05.76 of years to discover that the world 00:36:05.79\00:36:07.86 is suspended in a vacancy. 00:36:07.86\00:36:09.93 And Job described this condition of the globe 00:36:09.96\00:36:13.74 accurately way before science discovered it. 00:36:13.77\00:36:17.64 By divine inspiration this one gets me. 00:36:17.67\00:36:20.78 Job knew light dwells in a way not in a place. 00:36:20.81\00:36:26.18 Job 38:19, he say, 00:36:26.25\00:36:27.58 "Where is the way to the dwelling of light?" 00:36:27.62\00:36:31.85 Modern science has discovered that light travels in motion, 00:36:31.89\00:36:35.42 wave motions and at 186,000 miles per hour... 00:36:35.46\00:36:41.26 per second not per hour, per second. 00:36:41.30\00:36:44.20 So light can 00:36:44.23\00:36:45.63 only reside in... 00:36:45.67\00:36:50.27 dwell in a way. 00:36:50.31\00:36:52.77 So let's get to your question. 00:36:52.81\00:36:54.61 Most scientist in the early 20th century 00:36:54.64\00:36:58.61 believed that the universe was static. 00:36:58.65\00:37:01.48 They even believed, some scientists 00:37:01.52\00:37:03.18 thought it's going to collapse because of gravity. 00:37:03.22\00:37:06.59 But it was astronomer Edwin Hubble in 1929, 00:37:06.62\00:37:11.56 he proved that the universe was expanding. 00:37:11.59\00:37:14.60 Listen to what the Bible says. 00:37:14.63\00:37:16.26 Isaiah 40:22, we'll go back there. 00:37:16.30\00:37:19.43 "It is He, God, 00:37:19.47\00:37:21.34 who sits above the circle of the earth, 00:37:21.37\00:37:25.54 who stretches out 00:37:25.57\00:37:28.68 the heavens like a curtain." 00:37:28.71\00:37:31.08 The Bible tells us nine times, 00:37:31.11\00:37:33.21 God is stretching out the universe. 00:37:33.25\00:37:37.19 We see it in Psalm, Job, four times in Isaiah, 00:37:37.22\00:37:41.46 twice in Jeremiah and in Zechariah. 00:37:41.49\00:37:44.56 So here's how I look at it. 00:37:44.59\00:37:46.19 Jesus said, "I am the light of the world." 00:37:46.23\00:37:49.53 John 8:12. Light's always in motion. 00:37:49.56\00:37:52.60 Hebrews 1:3-6, 00:37:52.63\00:37:54.34 "He upholds everything by His mighty word of power." 00:37:54.37\00:37:58.84 And science doesn't prove the Bible, 00:37:58.87\00:38:01.71 but the Bible proves science because science 00:38:01.74\00:38:04.81 is always changing, the Bible never changes. 00:38:04.85\00:38:07.15 Okay. 00:38:07.18\00:38:08.52 Praise God for the consistency of the Word. 00:38:08.55\00:38:12.29 Pastor Lomacang, 00:38:12.32\00:38:13.66 "What led Noah to be led to become drunk 00:38:13.69\00:38:16.76 when Ham had to cover him in his nakedness? 00:38:16.79\00:38:19.43 Was he an alcoholic? 00:38:19.49\00:38:20.83 He was close to God." 00:38:20.86\00:38:22.46 Well, first of all, I like that question. 00:38:22.53\00:38:26.10 But Ham didn't cover his nakedness. 00:38:26.13\00:38:28.64 It was Shem and Japheth. 00:38:28.67\00:38:32.01 Ham took a position that he should not have. 00:38:32.04\00:38:34.98 Let's read Genesis 9:20-23. 00:38:35.01\00:38:38.01 It says, "And Noah began to be a farmer 00:38:38.05\00:38:40.35 and he planted a vineyard. 00:38:40.38\00:38:42.22 Then he drank of the wine and was drunk, 00:38:42.25\00:38:44.92 and became uncovered in his tent. 00:38:44.95\00:38:47.36 And Ham, the father of Canaan, saw the nakedness of his father 00:38:47.39\00:38:52.76 and told his two brothers outside. 00:38:52.79\00:38:55.63 But Shem and Japheth took a garment, 00:38:55.70\00:38:58.33 laid it on both their shoulders and went backward 00:38:58.37\00:39:01.74 and covered the nakedness of their father. 00:39:01.77\00:39:04.51 Their faces were turned away, 00:39:04.54\00:39:06.44 and they did not see their father's nakedness." 00:39:06.47\00:39:09.71 To answer the question, what made Noah drunk 00:39:09.74\00:39:13.21 is the same thing that makes anybody else who's drunk. 00:39:13.28\00:39:15.68 It is not unusual. They drink too much. 00:39:15.72\00:39:18.29 And whether you drink 00:39:18.32\00:39:19.65 intoxicating wine that's already fermented 00:39:19.72\00:39:23.09 or whether you continue to drink 00:39:23.12\00:39:24.63 a grape juice that sits there for long periods of time. 00:39:24.66\00:39:27.83 I learned this in a hard way. 00:39:27.86\00:39:30.03 On Thanksgiving we had apple cider, 00:39:30.07\00:39:32.50 the real good apple cider not the fake one, 00:39:32.57\00:39:34.57 the one that really squeeze you. 00:39:34.60\00:39:35.94 You got to drink it that day. 00:39:35.97\00:39:37.31 You got to drink it cold because if you 00:39:37.34\00:39:39.21 leave it overnight, it just takes one day for apple 00:39:39.24\00:39:41.31 cider to make you happier than you need to be, okay? 00:39:41.34\00:39:44.68 And so, Noah did what everybody else 00:39:44.71\00:39:49.02 that gets inebriated. 00:39:49.05\00:39:50.39 He kept on drinking, and it started affecting him. 00:39:50.42\00:39:53.29 That's why the Bible talks about that the deacon 00:39:53.32\00:39:55.62 should not be given too much wine. 00:39:55.66\00:39:57.13 It was a custom to give the deacons 00:39:57.16\00:39:59.13 when they visited people to drink over and over. 00:39:59.16\00:40:01.60 The elders were not to be given to any, 00:40:01.63\00:40:03.70 they were to set the example. 00:40:03.73\00:40:05.40 But the point that was made, 00:40:05.43\00:40:07.34 the point of the whole story was their response. 00:40:07.37\00:40:10.01 That was the focal point of the story, 00:40:10.04\00:40:11.37 their response. 00:40:11.41\00:40:12.74 And in response to Ham not doing what he should have, 00:40:12.77\00:40:15.94 Genesis 9:24-27, 00:40:15.98\00:40:18.28 "So Noah awoke from his wine, 00:40:18.31\00:40:20.82 and knew what his youngest son had done to him. 00:40:20.85\00:40:23.42 Then he said, 'Cursed be Canaan, 00:40:23.45\00:40:25.69 a servant of servants he shall be to his brothers. 00:40:25.75\00:40:28.19 He said: 00:40:28.22\00:40:29.56 'Blessed be the Lord, the God of Shem, 00:40:29.62\00:40:31.79 and may Canaan be his servant. 00:40:31.83\00:40:33.86 And may God enlarge Japheth, 00:40:33.90\00:40:35.56 and may he dwell in the tents of Shem, 00:40:35.60\00:40:38.40 and may Canaan be his servant.'" 00:40:38.43\00:40:40.50 The moral of the story is simple. 00:40:40.54\00:40:42.70 Do not take advantage of people 00:40:42.77\00:40:45.07 when they are in a position that they can be taken 00:40:45.11\00:40:47.58 advantage of. 00:40:47.61\00:40:48.94 Treat people the way that you should want to be treated. 00:40:49.01\00:40:52.01 Do unto others as you would have them do unto you. 00:40:52.05\00:40:54.18 If you want a similar situation that Noah found himself in, 00:40:54.22\00:40:57.22 would you want people to talk about you 00:40:57.25\00:40:59.32 or would you want them to help you? 00:40:59.35\00:41:00.76 That was the moral of the story. 00:41:00.79\00:41:02.12 Praise God. Excellent point. 00:41:02.16\00:41:03.93 Pastor Day, this is your three minute question here. 00:41:03.96\00:41:06.59 And I'll jump into this, 00:41:06.63\00:41:07.96 "How do you describe the 10 virgins going out to meet 00:41:07.96\00:41:10.43 the bridegroom if there is no rapture? 00:41:10.47\00:41:13.00 And what about Jesus and His saints riding 00:41:13.03\00:41:15.44 a white horse when it says He is coming in the clouds? 00:41:15.47\00:41:18.44 Isn't this two separate times He comes to earth?" 00:41:18.47\00:41:22.04 I don't believe that to be the case. 00:41:22.08\00:41:23.41 If you go back in Matthew 25:1-13 00:41:23.45\00:41:27.32 talking about the 10 virgins is a continuance of Christ 00:41:27.35\00:41:30.39 talking about His return, 00:41:30.42\00:41:32.39 the events surrounding His return. 00:41:32.42\00:41:35.16 It's a continuance of Matthew 24, 00:41:35.19\00:41:36.79 the previous chapter and so if we read these verses... 00:41:36.83\00:41:39.79 I'm just going to read a few verses 00:41:39.86\00:41:41.16 here from Matthew 25:6-13. 00:41:41.20\00:41:43.60 It says, "And at midnight a cry was heard: 00:41:43.63\00:41:45.80 'Behold, the bridegroom is coming, go out to meet him!' 00:41:45.87\00:41:49.57 Then all those virgins arose and trimmed their lamps. 00:41:49.64\00:41:51.91 And the foolish said to the wise, 00:41:51.94\00:41:53.31 'Give us some of your oil, for our lamps are going out.' 00:41:53.34\00:41:55.34 But the wise answered and said, 00:41:55.38\00:41:56.71 'No, lest there not be enough for us and you, 00:41:56.75\00:41:58.15 but go rather to those that sell, 00:41:58.18\00:42:00.12 and buy for yourselves.'" 00:42:00.15\00:42:01.48 And then notice verse 10, "And while they went to buy, 00:42:01.52\00:42:03.75 the bridegroom came, and those who were ready 00:42:03.79\00:42:06.35 went in with him to the wedding, 00:42:06.42\00:42:08.12 and the door was shut." 00:42:08.16\00:42:09.92 Notice that, the door was shut. 00:42:09.99\00:42:11.93 "Afterward the other virgins came also, saying, 00:42:11.96\00:42:13.93 'Lord, Lord, open to us!' 00:42:13.96\00:42:15.46 But he answered and said, 'Assuredly, I say to you, 00:42:15.50\00:42:17.07 I do not know you.'" And then verse 13 is key here, 00:42:17.10\00:42:20.14 "Watch therefore, for you know neither the day 00:42:20.17\00:42:22.17 nor the hour in which the Son of Man is coming." 00:42:22.20\00:42:23.87 Jesus used that same language in Matthew 24 00:42:23.91\00:42:26.91 when He was talking about the thief coming 00:42:26.94\00:42:28.78 with those taken, those left. 00:42:28.81\00:42:30.21 "Watch for you do not know..." 00:42:30.25\00:42:32.75 Again, Matthew 24, I'll read verses 42 to 44. 00:42:32.78\00:42:35.58 It says, "Watch therefore, for you do not know 00:42:35.62\00:42:37.25 the hour your Lord is coming. 00:42:37.29\00:42:39.09 But know that if the master of the house had known 00:42:39.12\00:42:41.36 what hour the thief would come, he would have watched 00:42:41.39\00:42:44.56 and not allowed his house to be broken. 00:42:44.59\00:42:46.23 Therefore you also be ready for the Son of Man 00:42:46.26\00:42:48.50 is coming at an hour," there it is a third time, 00:42:48.53\00:42:51.20 "you do not expect." 00:42:51.23\00:42:52.57 So this is not referring to two separate events. 00:42:52.63\00:42:55.54 Christ's coming back on a cloud, or excuse me, 00:42:55.57\00:42:58.24 on horses in Revelation 19 00:42:58.27\00:43:00.58 is referring to the glorious return of Christ. 00:43:00.61\00:43:03.24 But that's a different depiction. 00:43:03.31\00:43:05.41 It doesn't necessarily mean Christ 00:43:05.45\00:43:06.78 is going to be literally coming back on a white horse. 00:43:06.85\00:43:09.32 These are symbols. This is a parable. 00:43:09.35\00:43:11.45 The 10 virgins is a parable. We have to keep that in mind. 00:43:11.49\00:43:14.12 A lot of times we'll jump into these parables, 00:43:14.16\00:43:16.19 where Christ is using symbols and representations 00:43:16.26\00:43:19.03 and elements to communicate a moral lesson. 00:43:19.06\00:43:21.43 And we often take it literally, 00:43:21.46\00:43:23.26 and we want to apply it and say, "Oh this is... 00:43:23.30\00:43:24.90 This must be a separate event from this." 00:43:24.93\00:43:26.94 This is just talking about the events surrounding 00:43:26.97\00:43:30.21 the return of Christ. 00:43:30.24\00:43:31.57 Me personally in the studies that I have done... 00:43:31.61\00:43:33.07 If you do an in depth study from Matthew 24, 00:43:33.11\00:43:35.98 you know, again go over into I Thessalonians Chapter 4 00:43:36.04\00:43:39.45 and 5 and also studying this right here, 00:43:39.51\00:43:42.48 the parable of the 10 virgins. 00:43:42.52\00:43:44.12 The fact that again, the door was shut, 00:43:44.15\00:43:47.12 this is not talking about how, you know the wicked 00:43:47.16\00:43:49.19 continue on living, while we go with to heaven 00:43:49.22\00:43:51.53 with Christ because we know that 2 Thessalonians Chapter 2 00:43:51.56\00:43:54.36 tells us that when Jesus comes back, 00:43:54.36\00:43:56.13 the wicked are destroyed at the brightness of His coming. 00:43:56.16\00:43:59.40 Also, Luke 17, Matthew 24 00:43:59.43\00:44:02.00 talks about how that when Jesus comes back, 00:44:02.04\00:44:04.67 the wicked are brought to destruction. 00:44:04.71\00:44:07.14 They are left in the sense that... 00:44:07.18\00:44:10.35 Excuse me, the righteous are left behind alive, 00:44:10.38\00:44:13.21 but the wicked are taken in a flood of destruction 00:44:13.25\00:44:16.22 at the appearing of Christ. 00:44:16.28\00:44:17.85 So what we're reading here in this parable of the 10 virgins, 00:44:17.89\00:44:21.69 when it says here that the bridegroom came 00:44:21.72\00:44:25.26 and the righteous went in with him. 00:44:25.29\00:44:26.90 This is a representation, 00:44:26.93\00:44:28.40 actually, of that midnight hour. 00:44:28.43\00:44:31.57 Because, notice, the cry went out at midnight, 00:44:31.60\00:44:34.40 it's talking about a dark time. 00:44:34.44\00:44:35.97 We're going to be living in some dark times. 00:44:36.00\00:44:37.44 This is talking about the close of probation. 00:44:37.47\00:44:39.87 This is talking about that period of judgment 00:44:39.94\00:44:41.58 that which we do not know about. 00:44:41.61\00:44:43.35 We're going to know when Jesus is going to be soon 00:44:43.41\00:44:45.18 appearing because of those seven last plagues. 00:44:45.21\00:44:47.22 That great time of trouble is going to give us clear 00:44:47.25\00:44:49.12 indication that Jesus is on His way. 00:44:49.15\00:44:51.12 But there's one thing we don't know. 00:44:51.15\00:44:52.72 We don't know when that close of probation comes, 00:44:52.75\00:44:54.96 when Michael stands up 00:44:54.99\00:44:56.32 and those seven last plagues are poured out in that dark 00:44:56.39\00:44:59.03 midnight hour, in which we need to make sure 00:44:59.06\00:45:01.00 we are covered by the power of the Holy Spirit. 00:45:01.03\00:45:03.40 That's what this is talking about. 00:45:03.47\00:45:04.87 It's not talking about rapture, 00:45:04.90\00:45:06.23 separate from the second coming. 00:45:06.27\00:45:07.60 It's saying you need to be ready 00:45:07.64\00:45:09.00 and make sure you are watchful of the times 00:45:09.04\00:45:11.01 around you and make sure that you have 00:45:11.04\00:45:12.84 the Holy Spirit now. 00:45:12.87\00:45:14.48 For when that close of probation comes, 00:45:14.51\00:45:16.64 we want to make sure that our fate is sealed up 00:45:16.71\00:45:19.15 with Jesus Christ and not, again, 00:45:19.18\00:45:22.22 you know, taken in destruction with the rest of the folks 00:45:22.25\00:45:24.72 during the time of trouble. 00:45:24.75\00:45:26.12 Amen. 00:45:26.15\00:45:27.49 I thought you were going on a sermon mode for a second. 00:45:27.52\00:45:28.86 You were preaching. 00:45:28.89\00:45:30.23 Well, I took of little bit of extra time there, 00:45:30.26\00:45:31.59 but that's a deep subject. 00:45:31.63\00:45:32.96 Yes indeed. Shelley, we're going to come to you. 00:45:32.99\00:45:34.30 "Pride versus selfishness, I am trying to understand 00:45:34.36\00:45:36.30 which of these two iniquities generates the other? 00:45:36.33\00:45:39.47 Ezekiel 28:17 seems to suggest that it was pride. 00:45:39.50\00:45:44.44 I would like to hear your thoughts on this subject." 00:45:44.47\00:45:46.71 Well, I agree with you. 00:45:46.74\00:45:48.08 I believe that pride is the root of selfishness. 00:45:48.11\00:45:50.85 Let's read Ezekiel 28:15-17. 00:45:50.88\00:45:54.68 He says, "You were perfect in your ways from the day 00:45:54.72\00:45:57.42 you were created till iniquity was found in you. 00:45:57.45\00:46:00.79 By the abundance of your trading you became filled 00:46:00.82\00:46:03.36 with violence within and you sin. 00:46:03.43\00:46:06.03 Therefore I cast you out as a profane thing out 00:46:06.06\00:46:10.03 of the mountain of God. 00:46:10.10\00:46:11.57 And I destroyed you O, covering cherubim." 00:46:11.60\00:46:14.87 Who is he talking to here? The devil. 00:46:14.90\00:46:17.31 "From the midst of the fiery stones." 00:46:17.34\00:46:20.21 Verse 17, "While your heart was lifted up," 00:46:20.24\00:46:24.78 that's pride, "because of your beauty. 00:46:24.81\00:46:27.12 You corrupted your wisdom for the sake of your splendor. 00:46:27.15\00:46:30.42 I cast you to the ground and laid 00:46:30.45\00:46:34.42 you before kings that they might gaze at you." 00:46:34.46\00:46:38.36 You mentioned Isaiah 14 earlier in verse 14. 00:46:38.39\00:46:41.33 He says, "How are you fallen, 00:46:41.36\00:46:43.06 O Lucifer, son of the morning?" 00:46:43.10\00:46:45.30 You know, Lucifer had a problem. 00:46:45.33\00:46:47.14 There's five I wills in that passage, 00:46:47.17\00:46:51.91 Isaiah 14:12-14. 00:46:51.94\00:46:54.88 It's "I will ascend on high. 00:46:54.91\00:46:57.21 I will be above God. I will... 00:46:57.25\00:46:59.95 I will..." 00:47:00.08\00:47:01.65 Totally different in the picture of the person 00:47:01.68\00:47:05.85 of Jesus Christ in Philippians 2:5-8, 00:47:05.89\00:47:09.19 where Paul says, "Hey let Christ be your example 00:47:09.22\00:47:12.26 of humility. 00:47:12.29\00:47:13.63 Let this mind be in you, which was in him." 00:47:13.66\00:47:16.67 God came down from heaven, took on our flesh, 00:47:16.70\00:47:20.27 and humiliated Himself. 00:47:20.34\00:47:22.17 He humbled Himself and He was... 00:47:22.20\00:47:25.71 He went further and died on the cross for us. 00:47:25.74\00:47:28.94 While God, the second person of the Godhead, our Creator, 00:47:28.98\00:47:33.82 came down and took on this flesh. 00:47:33.85\00:47:36.48 He was totally dependent upon God, the Father. 00:47:36.52\00:47:41.02 He was totally dependent upon the Holy Spirit. 00:47:41.06\00:47:44.19 That's what humility is, is total dependence. 00:47:44.23\00:47:47.66 So pride is dependence on self. 00:47:47.73\00:47:51.03 Pride is thinking that we don't know, 00:47:51.07\00:47:54.27 need God or that we know better than God. 00:47:54.30\00:47:57.61 Prejudice is pride. 00:47:57.64\00:47:58.97 Anytime you think of yourself higher than someone 00:47:59.01\00:48:02.14 else we put... 00:48:02.18\00:48:03.95 Pride put your own personal priorities above others 00:48:03.98\00:48:09.55 and pride creates selfishness. 00:48:09.58\00:48:12.65 Thank you for that. 00:48:12.69\00:48:14.02 Pastor Lomacang, we're coming to you. 00:48:14.06\00:48:15.49 We're almost out of time here. 00:48:15.52\00:48:17.33 "Why did God allow the nation of Israel to own slaves 00:48:17.36\00:48:20.76 and the Leviticus laws? 00:48:20.80\00:48:22.60 Isn't slavery unholy?" 00:48:22.63\00:48:24.73 That's a very good question. 00:48:24.77\00:48:26.10 You know, the Israelites, the slaves that the Israelites 00:48:26.13\00:48:29.27 owned were not against their will. 00:48:29.30\00:48:31.97 These were considered more like indentured bought 00:48:32.01\00:48:35.01 and sold as servants to care for specific needs. 00:48:35.04\00:48:38.11 And you find this talked about in Leviticus 25:47-54. 00:48:38.15\00:48:42.68 I'm going to go ahead and read that so you can see 00:48:42.72\00:48:44.05 the context of slavery. 00:48:44.09\00:48:46.09 They knew they were... 00:48:46.12\00:48:47.46 They were slaves so they wouldn't impose 00:48:47.49\00:48:49.72 upon something, imposed upon someone 00:48:49.79\00:48:51.99 what they just came out of. 00:48:52.03\00:48:53.66 Look at this Leviticus 25:47-54. 00:48:53.70\00:48:57.20 "Now if a sojourner or a stranger come to you, 00:48:57.23\00:49:01.27 close to you becomes rich, 00:49:01.30\00:49:03.30 and one of your brethren who dwells by him becomes poor 00:49:03.34\00:49:06.74 and sells himself to the stranger, 00:49:06.78\00:49:09.71 or sojourner close to you or to a member 00:49:09.74\00:49:12.91 of the strangest family. 00:49:12.95\00:49:14.72 After he is sold, he may be redeemed again. 00:49:14.75\00:49:18.69 One of his brothers may redeem him or his uncle 00:49:18.72\00:49:21.09 or his uncle son may redeem him or anyone 00:49:21.12\00:49:23.83 who is near of kin to him in his family may redeem him. 00:49:23.89\00:49:28.23 Or if he is able, he may redeem himself. 00:49:28.26\00:49:31.47 He, thus he shall reckon with him, 00:49:31.50\00:49:34.80 who brought him the price of his release 00:49:34.84\00:49:37.24 shall be according to the numbers of years. 00:49:37.27\00:49:39.37 For the year that he was sold to him until 00:49:39.41\00:49:42.61 the year of Jubilee, it shall be according to the time 00:49:42.64\00:49:45.68 of a hired servant for him. 00:49:45.71\00:49:48.32 If there are still many years remaining, according to them, 00:49:48.35\00:49:52.75 he shall repay the price 00:49:52.79\00:49:54.12 of his redemption from the money 00:49:54.16\00:49:56.19 with which he was bought. 00:49:56.22\00:49:58.03 And if there remained but a few years 00:49:58.06\00:50:00.43 until the year of Jubilee, then he shall reckon with him. 00:50:00.46\00:50:03.93 And according to the years, he shall repay him the price 00:50:03.97\00:50:06.94 of his redemption. 00:50:06.97\00:50:08.30 He shall be with him as a yearly hired servant, 00:50:08.34\00:50:13.38 and he shall not rule with vigor over him in your sight. 00:50:13.41\00:50:17.38 And if he is not redeemed in these years, 00:50:17.41\00:50:20.75 then he shall be released in the year of Jubilee, 00:50:20.78\00:50:23.42 he and his children with him." 00:50:23.49\00:50:25.52 The nutshell of it is, 00:50:25.55\00:50:26.96 this is the very story that Paul used to illustrate 00:50:26.99\00:50:30.43 Christ's relationship with us. 00:50:30.46\00:50:32.06 1 Corinthians 6:20, "You are bought with a price. 00:50:32.09\00:50:35.76 Therefore glorify God in your spirit 00:50:35.80\00:50:37.97 and in your body, which are God's. 00:50:38.00\00:50:40.20 Not indentured, but in fact voluntary." 00:50:40.24\00:50:42.87 And who's the Redeemer kinsmen? Jesus. 00:50:42.90\00:50:45.21 He buys us back. 00:50:45.24\00:50:46.74 We may be voluntary sinners 00:50:46.78\00:50:49.71 or sin may take us against our will. 00:50:49.74\00:50:51.68 But either way we have a Redeemer kinsmen 00:50:51.71\00:50:53.88 who buys us back. 00:50:53.92\00:50:55.25 Amen. That's right. Amen. 00:50:55.28\00:50:56.65 Wow. 00:50:56.69\00:50:58.02 I'm going to throw something out there real quick 00:50:58.05\00:51:00.29 if you want to touch on it. 00:51:00.32\00:51:01.66 "We know about clean and unclean foods, 00:51:01.69\00:51:03.49 but don't hear much about nutritional foods 00:51:03.56\00:51:05.83 talked about in the Bible, 00:51:05.86\00:51:07.20 and how and what we need to eat." 00:51:07.23\00:51:10.43 Okay, real quick. Anything that God recommends... 00:51:10.47\00:51:13.30 Genesis makes it clear. 00:51:13.34\00:51:14.74 Anything that God recommends is nutritious. 00:51:14.77\00:51:16.97 Look at the story of the Hebrews. 00:51:17.01\00:51:18.91 Everything they ate made them wiser and fairer and healthier, 00:51:18.94\00:51:22.38 and God would never have to put a list together. 00:51:22.41\00:51:24.51 If He simply says, "Eat fruits and vegetables, 00:51:24.55\00:51:26.88 grains, and nuts and you'll be much wiser." 00:51:26.92\00:51:28.95 And were they? 00:51:28.98\00:51:30.35 They were 10 times wiser, 10 times healthier. 00:51:30.39\00:51:32.82 And how amazing God used it as a precursor to understand 00:51:32.85\00:51:35.86 Bible prophecy. 00:51:35.89\00:51:37.23 Amen.
