And then we have Shelley Quinn. 00:03:04.08\00:03:06.18 Thank you for explaining 00:03:06.21\00:03:07.55 why we talk like an auctioneer sometime. 00:03:07.62\00:03:10.59 That's right. 00:03:10.62\00:03:13.66 So yes, we're gonna jump into these questions. 00:03:13.69\00:03:15.79 But, Jill, would you have 00:03:15.82\00:03:17.36 a word of prayer for us, please? 00:03:17.43\00:03:18.76 Absolutely. 00:03:18.79\00:03:20.13 Holy Father, we come before You in the name of Jesus. 00:03:20.16\00:03:22.13 We're grateful for Your Word, 00:03:22.16\00:03:24.17 Your Word is the lamp to our feet 00:03:24.23\00:03:26.17 and a light to our path. 00:03:26.20\00:03:28.27 Your Word is quick and active 00:03:28.30\00:03:30.31 and brings conviction to our hearts. 00:03:30.37\00:03:32.91 And we ask right now would You open up Your Word before us? 00:03:32.94\00:03:36.28 We ask for the anointing of Your Holy Spirit, 00:03:36.31\00:03:40.05 and that we would not just be hearers 00:03:40.08\00:03:42.18 of what your Word says, but that would we, 00:03:42.22\00:03:44.65 we would walk in obedience. 00:03:44.69\00:03:47.02 We thank You in Jesus' name. Amen. 00:03:47.06\00:03:49.76 Amen. Amen. 00:03:49.79\00:03:51.13 Amen. Ryan, I'm gonna start with you. 00:03:51.16\00:03:54.00 All right. 00:03:54.03\00:03:56.10 Again this comes from Tony out of New Jersey. 00:03:56.13\00:03:58.37 "Can anyone explain 00:03:58.40\00:03:59.73 why most Christian denominations 00:03:59.77\00:04:01.84 believe in a pre-tribulation rapture 00:04:01.87\00:04:04.81 when the Bible says otherwise? 00:04:04.84\00:04:06.34 What scriptures are they reading 00:04:06.37\00:04:07.74 to believe this?" 00:04:07.78\00:04:09.58 Well, I used to believe in a pre-tribulation rapture. 00:04:09.61\00:04:11.95 Not that I was completely convinced, 00:04:11.98\00:04:13.55 but it was taught to me growing up 00:04:13.58\00:04:15.58 and where a lot of people get this from 00:04:15.62\00:04:17.29 is really just a misinterpretation. 00:04:17.35\00:04:19.05 And in many cases, a misapplication of Scripture. 00:04:19.09\00:04:22.49 This pre-tribulation rapture idea came really 00:04:22.52\00:04:24.93 the idea of it stemmed or the seed was planted 00:04:24.96\00:04:28.16 from a Jesuit Catholic priest back in the late 1500s, 00:04:28.20\00:04:32.03 by the name of Francisco Ribera. 00:04:32.07\00:04:33.87 He kind of, he kind of is known as the father 00:04:33.90\00:04:36.20 of what is known as the futurist approach 00:04:36.24\00:04:38.51 of Bible prophecy or the futurist interpretation. 00:04:38.54\00:04:41.34 And then, of course, many, many people played their role 00:04:41.38\00:04:44.11 in carrying out this message to bring about 00:04:44.18\00:04:46.95 this pre-tribulation rapture theory idea, 00:04:46.98\00:04:49.68 but it was a man by the name of John N. Darby from Scotland, 00:04:49.72\00:04:52.99 he was a Scottish gentleman from Europe 00:04:53.02\00:04:55.36 and he really exploded, 00:04:55.39\00:04:57.16 he was the one that really came up with the concept 00:04:57.19\00:04:59.86 on the pre-tribulation rapture idea, 00:04:59.89\00:05:01.70 but you know how he got it, how he really came about these, 00:05:01.73\00:05:05.43 what he believed the inspiration 00:05:05.47\00:05:07.17 was a young girl in his congregation 00:05:07.20\00:05:09.14 had a speaking in tongues, babbling type experience, 00:05:09.17\00:05:12.87 you know, where she said she went into a trance 00:05:12.91\00:05:15.31 and God showed her that this was the right 00:05:15.34\00:05:17.71 application of the Scripture. 00:05:17.78\00:05:19.48 And so many people believe this stemmed from that event, 00:05:19.51\00:05:22.98 about 100 and I don't know past 160, 180 years. 00:05:23.02\00:05:27.09 Of course, this same concept of the pre-tribulation 00:05:27.12\00:05:29.66 rapture idea was put in popular study Bibles like 00:05:29.69\00:05:32.89 the original which was probably be the Scofield Study Bible, 00:05:32.93\00:05:36.03 Cyrus Scofield, when he released that 00:05:36.06\00:05:37.87 and it was published, many of the pastors of the day 00:05:37.90\00:05:40.64 just begin to adopt this thinking. 00:05:40.67\00:05:42.77 The scriptures that they get it from, 00:05:42.80\00:05:44.14 well, we know it's a misapplication 00:05:44.21\00:05:45.77 and the misinterpretation. 00:05:45.81\00:05:47.28 They take 1 Thessalonians chapter 4 and 5, 00:05:47.31\00:05:49.51 and they say, that's the rapture. 00:05:49.54\00:05:51.58 And they take the passages like Matthew 24, 00:05:51.61\00:05:53.82 and they say, that's the second coming. 00:05:53.85\00:05:55.75 And where they get their seven years 00:05:55.78\00:05:57.22 of tribulation that separates it again, 00:05:57.29\00:05:59.55 pre-tribulation rapture, rapture, 1 Thessalonians 4, 00:05:59.59\00:06:03.26 it happens before the seven years of tribulation. 00:06:03.29\00:06:05.76 They go to that 70 weeks prophecy of Daniel chapter 9. 00:06:05.79\00:06:09.20 And they manipulate that last week 00:06:09.23\00:06:11.00 at this called the Gap Theory. 00:06:11.07\00:06:12.40 They separate it from the other 69. 00:06:12.43\00:06:14.37 They bring it way down here at the end of time, 00:06:14.44\00:06:16.64 and they apply it to an Antichrist 00:06:16.67\00:06:18.74 after the church is raptured. 00:06:18.77\00:06:20.38 So that's where they get it from. 00:06:20.41\00:06:21.84 It's not biblical. 00:06:21.88\00:06:23.31 And I encourage you to look into it 00:06:23.35\00:06:25.21 and study it for yourself, 00:06:25.25\00:06:26.58 because there's only one return of Jesus. 00:06:26.61\00:06:28.25 And He's coming back soon. Amen. 00:06:28.28\00:06:30.59 Wow. That's a juiced version. 00:06:30.62\00:06:33.56 That's a powerful juiced version there. 00:06:33.59\00:06:35.86 We should do a program on that, Bible prophecy. 00:06:35.89\00:06:39.43 We'll talk about that one. 00:06:39.46\00:06:41.30 "Jill, why have we heard nothing from God 00:06:41.33\00:06:44.57 since Jesus in the Bible?" 00:06:44.63\00:06:45.97 This comes from Susan out of Arizona. 00:06:46.00\00:06:48.00 Thank you so much, Susan, for that question. 00:06:48.04\00:06:49.67 I would say we have heard from God, 00:06:49.70\00:06:51.31 we hear from God every day. 00:06:51.34\00:06:53.24 And I want to give you four ways 00:06:53.27\00:06:54.64 that we hear from God, 00:06:54.68\00:06:56.01 there's of course more than this. 00:06:56.04\00:06:57.38 But four ways that God still speaks to us, 00:06:57.41\00:07:00.28 speaks to you and I even today, 00:07:00.32\00:07:01.92 and the first is through His Word. 00:07:01.95\00:07:03.75 Now, you might be saying, wait a minute, 00:07:03.79\00:07:05.32 where we had Jesus isn't alive, 00:07:05.35\00:07:06.92 He hasn't been alive for 2,000 years. 00:07:06.96\00:07:08.96 And the last book of the New Testament, 00:07:08.99\00:07:11.03 Revelation was written what AD 95. 00:07:11.06\00:07:13.29 So we haven't heard from Him in a long time. 00:07:13.33\00:07:15.23 But Romans 15:4 says, 00:07:15.26\00:07:17.37 "Whatever things were written aforetime or before, 00:07:17.43\00:07:20.90 were written for our learning, that we through patience 00:07:20.94\00:07:24.37 and comfort of the Scriptures, we might have hope." 00:07:24.41\00:07:27.34 That means that everything in the Word of God 00:07:27.38\00:07:30.28 was written not just for the people of that time, 00:07:30.31\00:07:33.75 but it's written down through the centuries for you 00:07:33.78\00:07:36.25 and me today. 00:07:36.28\00:07:37.65 All Scripture is written by inspiration of God 00:07:37.69\00:07:39.85 and is profitable for doctrine, reproof, correction, 00:07:39.89\00:07:42.52 instruction in righteousness that we might be perfect. 00:07:42.56\00:07:45.39 The second way that we hear from God today 00:07:45.43\00:07:47.50 is through the fulfillment of prophecy. 00:07:47.56\00:07:50.90 In John 14:29, Jesus speaking, "He says, 00:07:50.93\00:07:53.54 'I told you before it comes 00:07:53.57\00:07:55.30 that when it comes to pass, you may believe.'" 00:07:55.34\00:07:59.41 This means that when we see the signs 00:07:59.44\00:08:01.34 of the times happening all around us, 00:08:01.38\00:08:04.21 God is speaking to us. 00:08:04.25\00:08:05.58 I am coming soon, we see that fulfillment 00:08:05.61\00:08:08.72 of prophecy take place here today. 00:08:08.75\00:08:12.42 The third way that God speaks to us today 00:08:12.45\00:08:14.72 is through creation, through His nature. 00:08:14.76\00:08:17.79 Romans Chapter 1 talks about 00:08:17.83\00:08:19.56 the ungodly or unrighteous people, 00:08:19.59\00:08:22.36 but yet they still sense 00:08:22.40\00:08:24.20 and know God in Romans 1:20 through creation. 00:08:24.23\00:08:27.77 It says, "For since the creation of the world, 00:08:27.80\00:08:30.31 His," that's God's, "invisible attributes are clearly seen, 00:08:30.34\00:08:34.44 being understood by the things that are made even His eternal 00:08:34.51\00:08:37.48 power and Godhead." 00:08:37.51\00:08:38.91 So they're without excuse. 00:08:38.95\00:08:40.28 That means even if you don't have the Word of God, 00:08:40.32\00:08:42.25 creation speaks to you every day 00:08:42.28\00:08:45.02 of God's power and might. 00:08:45.05\00:08:47.59 Finally number four, 00:08:47.62\00:08:48.96 God speaks to us through the convicting power 00:08:48.99\00:08:51.26 of the Holy Spirit. 00:08:51.29\00:08:52.89 So the prophets of old might not be alive today. 00:08:52.93\00:08:56.23 But God still speaks to us today. 00:08:56.26\00:08:58.17 Amen. I'm so glad that He does. 00:08:58.20\00:09:00.74 Amen. 00:09:00.80\00:09:02.20 "Shelley, my question is about the names 00:09:02.24\00:09:06.11 ascribed to the Messiah by the Prophet Isaiah 00:09:06.14\00:09:08.64 in 9:6, where He is also called the Everlasting Father. 00:09:08.68\00:09:14.25 We know that the Messiah, Jesus Christ 00:09:14.28\00:09:16.92 is the second person of the Godhead, 00:09:16.95\00:09:19.32 where God the Father is the first person. 00:09:19.35\00:09:22.22 Can you clarify why He is given this title 00:09:22.26\00:09:25.16 which may confuse others?" 00:09:25.19\00:09:26.56 This is from Ferdinand out of the Philippines. 00:09:26.59\00:09:28.73 Wonderful question, Ferdinand. 00:09:28.76\00:09:30.37 In Isaiah 9:6, you are right, this is about the Messiah, 00:09:30.40\00:09:34.47 He is the second person of the Godhead. 00:09:34.54\00:09:36.97 We have a tendency to think that the Messiah 00:09:37.01\00:09:40.88 was the Son of God before He arrived on earth 00:09:40.91\00:09:44.05 and was in it. 00:09:44.08\00:09:45.71 Actually He wasn't the Son of God 00:09:45.75\00:09:49.02 until He came to earth. 00:09:49.05\00:09:50.39 Let's look at this. Isaiah 9:6. 00:09:50.42\00:09:53.02 "For unto us a child is born, unto us a Son is given, 00:09:53.05\00:09:57.63 the government will be upon His shoulder. 00:09:57.66\00:09:59.76 His name will be called Wonderful, Counselor." 00:09:59.79\00:10:03.40 That is a term used in parallel with a king. 00:10:03.43\00:10:08.14 Micah 4:9 says, "What you cry aloud, 00:10:08.20\00:10:11.71 is there no king in your midst as your counselor perished?" 00:10:11.74\00:10:17.71 So the council of our all knowing all powerful king, 00:10:17.75\00:10:22.35 His namely be called Mighty God. 00:10:22.38\00:10:25.22 This is a term in the Hebrew that was never used of man, 00:10:25.25\00:10:29.42 only of the deity of our Creator God. 00:10:29.46\00:10:33.96 So a child that was born to us was God Himself. 00:10:34.00\00:10:38.97 We know that God condescended 00:10:39.00\00:10:42.50 and took on the flesh of man. 00:10:42.54\00:10:46.17 Read Philippians 2:5-8, 00:10:46.21\00:10:49.01 the eternal Creator God was incarnated 00:10:49.04\00:10:54.35 as a person of Jesus Christ. 00:10:54.38\00:10:57.82 Now here's your question. 00:10:57.85\00:10:59.19 Everlasting Father, literally, is the Father of eternity. 00:10:59.22\00:11:03.46 In Micah 5:2, it's talking about, 00:11:03.49\00:11:06.46 "Out of Bethlehem shall come forth 00:11:06.49\00:11:09.10 the one to be the ruler in Israel, 00:11:09.13\00:11:11.20 whose goings forth are from of old, 00:11:11.23\00:11:13.47 up from everlasting." 00:11:13.50\00:11:16.77 And Isaiah 63:16 says, 00:11:16.81\00:11:20.48 "You O Lord, are our Father, our Redeemer, 00:11:20.51\00:11:24.88 from everlasting is Your name." 00:11:24.91\00:11:27.55 So Jesus is the author of eternal life, 00:11:27.58\00:11:31.95 our Creator who condescended 00:11:31.99\00:11:35.36 and took on our flesh to be our Prince of Peace. 00:11:35.39\00:11:38.99 Let me add this real quick. 00:11:39.03\00:11:40.66 Shalom is more than absence 00:11:40.73\00:11:45.17 when it says Prince of Peace. 00:11:45.20\00:11:46.67 It's not just absence of conflict. 00:11:46.70\00:11:49.27 Shalom is the idea of completeness 00:11:49.30\00:11:53.74 and perfection, healing, soundness, well-being, 00:11:53.78\00:11:57.11 prosperity, good relationships, all that come from our Messiah. 00:11:57.15\00:12:02.88 Amen. 00:12:02.92\00:12:04.25 Amen. Thank you for that explanation. 00:12:04.32\00:12:06.72 Pastor Ryan Day, 00:12:06.76\00:12:08.66 you'll have three minutes for this question. 00:12:08.69\00:12:10.49 This comes from Manuel out of Virginia. 00:12:10.53\00:12:13.66 "Could you explain 00:12:13.70\00:12:18.60 about the 2,300 days, 00:12:18.63\00:12:21.27 then shall the sanctuary be cleansed. 00:12:21.34\00:12:24.41 Is this the heavenly sanctuary?" 00:12:24.44\00:12:27.51 Three minutes. All right. 00:12:27.58\00:12:28.91 Pray for that clock. Here we go. 00:12:28.94\00:12:31.05 All right, so Daniel 8:14, the Bible says, 00:12:31.08\00:12:33.25 "And he said unto me, 'For 2,300 days, 00:12:33.28\00:12:36.69 then the sanctuary shall be cleansed.'" 00:12:36.72\00:12:38.65 So we get the idea that at the end 00:12:38.69\00:12:41.36 of the 2,300 days, because it says, 00:12:41.39\00:12:42.89 then shall the sanctuary be cleansed. 00:12:42.92\00:12:45.16 Of course, we're talking about judgment here. 00:12:45.19\00:12:47.60 The concept of the cleansing of the sanctuary, 00:12:47.60\00:12:50.20 if you're studying Scripture, you have a knowledge 00:12:50.23\00:12:51.87 of Old Testament Scripture, 00:12:51.90\00:12:53.30 then you know that this language, 00:12:53.34\00:12:54.74 in fact, most of the language of Daniel Chapter 8, 00:12:54.80\00:12:57.47 starting with the goat and the ram, 00:12:57.51\00:12:59.01 that's what was those, the goat 00:12:59.04\00:13:00.44 and the ram was used in the morning 00:13:00.48\00:13:01.88 and evening offerings of the sanctuary service. 00:13:01.91\00:13:04.35 And, of course, you have all of this sanctuary 00:13:04.38\00:13:06.15 language that's added throughout this chapter, 00:13:06.18\00:13:08.32 for instance, the daily, that's the daily service 00:13:08.35\00:13:11.09 of the sanctuary, this yearly service, 00:13:11.12\00:13:13.19 which is wrapped up in the cleansing 00:13:13.22\00:13:14.79 of the sanctuary, it's the holiest day 00:13:14.86\00:13:16.59 of the year in the Hebrew sanctuary 00:13:16.62\00:13:18.33 known as Yom Kippur. 00:13:18.36\00:13:19.76 It's a Day of Judgment, 00:13:19.79\00:13:21.10 a day in which God will atone for all 00:13:21.16\00:13:23.06 of the sins that have been brought into the sanctuary. 00:13:23.10\00:13:25.47 So that being said, 00:13:25.50\00:13:26.90 when, how do we explain this timeframe with this prophecy? 00:13:26.94\00:13:29.90 We know for sure that it's not talking about 00:13:29.94\00:13:31.67 2,300 literal days, because notice Daniel 7:18, 00:13:31.71\00:13:35.74 toward the end of that verse there it says, 00:13:35.78\00:13:37.65 "Understand, son of man that this vision 00:13:37.71\00:13:39.25 refers to the time of the end." 00:13:39.28\00:13:41.38 So wasn't talking about Daniel's time. 00:13:41.42\00:13:43.18 Again, Daniel 8:19. 00:13:43.22\00:13:45.59 He says again, "Look, I'm making known to you 00:13:45.62\00:13:48.02 what shall happen in the latter time." 00:13:48.06\00:13:50.46 And he says again, a third time in Daniel 8:26 00:13:50.49\00:13:53.03 toward the latter part, it says, 00:13:53.06\00:13:54.73 "A seal up vision for it refers to many days in the future." 00:13:54.76\00:13:58.23 We have three indications that this is not talking 00:13:58.30\00:14:00.20 about 2,300 literal days, 00:14:00.24\00:14:02.24 we apply the day-year or the year-day principle here. 00:14:02.27\00:14:05.51 Again, you get that from Numbers 14:34, Ezekiel 4:6, 00:14:05.54\00:14:09.84 where we take a day, a prophetic day, 00:14:09.88\00:14:12.05 and it becomes a year. 00:14:12.08\00:14:13.42 So we're talking about 2,300 years. 00:14:13.45\00:14:16.02 And so how do we get this timeframe? 00:14:16.05\00:14:17.75 How do we know when it begins and what it is? 00:14:17.79\00:14:19.69 Daniel knew the bulk of what this prophecy was about. 00:14:19.72\00:14:23.16 Because in Daniel 8, the Angel Gabriel tells him 00:14:23.19\00:14:25.66 what all of these different elements 00:14:25.69\00:14:27.03 mean within the vision. 00:14:27.10\00:14:29.16 There's a part of the vision in the original Hebrew 00:14:29.20\00:14:31.70 known as the mareh. 00:14:31.73\00:14:33.37 He didn't understand the mareh which was the time aspect. 00:14:33.40\00:14:36.50 And so by the time you get to the end of Daniel 8, 00:14:36.54\00:14:39.57 Daniel faints, and the only thing 00:14:39.61\00:14:41.21 he didn't understand 00:14:41.24\00:14:42.58 about it was he needed to know the time, 00:14:42.61\00:14:43.95 when does this thing begin, and when does it end? 00:14:43.98\00:14:45.91 Because when it ends, judgment begins. 00:14:45.95\00:14:48.48 When we go to Daniel Chapter 9, 00:14:48.52\00:14:50.42 notice what it says in Daniel Chapter 9. 00:14:50.45\00:14:52.02 It says, "He meets Gabriel again," 00:14:52.05\00:14:54.22 and then notice what Gabriel says to him in verse 23 00:14:54.29\00:14:56.32 of Daniel 9. 00:14:56.36\00:14:57.69 He says, "At the beginning of your supplication, 00:14:57.76\00:14:59.29 the command went out that I have come to tell you, 00:14:59.33\00:15:01.20 for you are greatly beloved, therefore consider the matter 00:15:01.26\00:15:03.73 and understand the vision." 00:15:03.77\00:15:05.90 But the word for vision there is the same word 00:15:05.93\00:15:08.07 used in Daniel 8, the mareh, dealing with the portion 00:15:08.10\00:15:11.74 of the vision of the time. 00:15:11.77\00:15:13.58 And so how, we just need to know the beginning of this, 00:15:13.61\00:15:16.44 the beginning of it, of course, 00:15:16.48\00:15:17.81 is the same start point as the 70 weeks prophecy. 00:15:17.88\00:15:21.08 And we know that the 70 weeks prophecy begin historically 00:15:21.15\00:15:24.15 when the decree went forward to rebuild and restore 00:15:24.19\00:15:27.79 the government in Jerusalem. 00:15:27.82\00:15:29.16 We find that in Ezra 7:13 and onward, 00:15:29.19\00:15:32.76 and we know that that happened in 457 BC. 00:15:32.79\00:15:37.43 If you count from 457 BC, 2,300 years, 00:15:37.47\00:15:41.47 you have to come to 1844. 00:15:41.54\00:15:44.61 My friends, it was an 1844 that judgment began. 00:15:44.64\00:15:48.54 That's what this prophecy is about. 00:15:48.58\00:15:50.18 It's telling us that judgment begins in 1844. 00:15:50.21\00:15:54.32 2,300 days, years, 00:15:54.35\00:15:56.95 then the sanctuary shall be cleansed. 00:15:56.99\00:15:59.22 That's the juiced version of the 2300 years. 00:15:59.25\00:16:02.29 Only you can do that. Good job. 00:16:02.32\00:16:05.26 We're juicing today. Okay, I love it. 00:16:05.29\00:16:09.10 Jill, this comes from Christina out of India. 00:16:09.13\00:16:12.33 "Can the Holy Spirit leave a person in both, 00:16:12.37\00:16:15.87 leave a person in both the Old Testament 00:16:15.90\00:16:17.84 and New Testament? 00:16:17.91\00:16:19.94 Is there a verse that talks about that 00:16:19.97\00:16:22.31 in the New Testament? 00:16:22.34\00:16:23.71 A non-Adventist preacher here says that the Holy Spirit 00:16:23.75\00:16:27.05 could leave a person in the Old Testament, 00:16:27.08\00:16:29.52 but can't leave a person in the New Testament. 00:16:29.55\00:16:32.62 If the Holy Spirit is the same in both testaments, 00:16:32.65\00:16:34.86 I find it a bit cold. 00:16:34.89\00:16:37.26 Can you help with some Bible verse that talks about this? 00:16:37.29\00:16:40.83 Thank you so much, Christina. It's a great question. 00:16:40.86\00:16:42.83 And I would say our God is the same yesterday, 00:16:42.86\00:16:44.97 today and forever, and He does not change. 00:16:45.03\00:16:47.40 So the God of the Old Testament 00:16:47.44\00:16:48.77 is the God of the New Testament, 00:16:48.80\00:16:50.14 and the Holy Spirit in the Old Testament 00:16:50.17\00:16:51.91 is the Holy Spirit in the New Testament. 00:16:51.94\00:16:54.14 But let's look at that a little bit. 00:16:54.18\00:16:55.78 Of course, there's some very clear references 00:16:55.81\00:16:58.11 in the Old Testament, that the Holy Spirit 00:16:58.15\00:17:00.42 can depart from a person. 00:17:00.45\00:17:02.08 We see in Genesis 6:3, He says what? 00:17:02.12\00:17:04.32 "My spirit will not always strive with men." 00:17:04.35\00:17:06.65 Of course, this is just prior to the flood. 00:17:06.69\00:17:09.19 Within 1 Samuel 16, remember, Saul, 00:17:09.22\00:17:12.16 anointed king of Israel had turned his back on God, 00:17:12.19\00:17:15.66 and had disobeyed persistently the voice of God. 00:17:15.70\00:17:19.47 And then it says, "The Spirit of the Lord 00:17:19.50\00:17:20.90 departed from Saul." 00:17:20.94\00:17:22.60 But where do we find some 00:17:22.64\00:17:23.97 of these contexts in the New Testament? 00:17:24.01\00:17:27.01 You know, we've seen the New Testament 00:17:27.04\00:17:28.38 with the story of Ananias and Sapphira 00:17:28.44\00:17:30.25 that clearly we can lie to the Holy Spirit. 00:17:30.28\00:17:33.35 Peter said, "Ananias, why has Satan 00:17:33.38\00:17:34.92 filled your heart to lie to the Holy Spirit, 00:17:34.98\00:17:37.85 and keep back part of the price for yourself." 00:17:37.89\00:17:40.59 We see in Ephesians 4:30, 00:17:40.62\00:17:42.46 that you and I can grieve the Holy Spirit. 00:17:42.49\00:17:46.39 In Ephesians 4:30, it says, 00:17:46.43\00:17:47.76 "Do not grieve the Holy Spirit by which you 00:17:47.76\00:17:50.03 were sealed for the day of redemption." 00:17:50.07\00:17:52.90 We see in Mark 3:28 and 29, 00:17:52.93\00:17:55.57 we see this sin of blasphemy against the Holy Spirit. 00:17:55.60\00:17:59.64 That's what we call the unpardonable sin, 00:17:59.67\00:18:03.45 which is really just simply the persistent 00:18:03.48\00:18:05.88 refusal or rejection of the Holy Spirit. 00:18:05.91\00:18:09.68 So the bottom line, we also see in Revelation, 00:18:09.72\00:18:12.15 you can see that the angels holding back the winds 00:18:12.19\00:18:15.02 of strife will be released at the end time. 00:18:15.06\00:18:18.49 And we see that the Holy Spirit will be withdrawn 00:18:18.53\00:18:22.20 from this earth. 00:18:22.23\00:18:24.17 But the bottom line is that 00:18:24.20\00:18:25.53 the Holy Spirit doesn't leave us. 00:18:25.57\00:18:27.20 We choose by deliberate, persistent refusal to turn 00:18:27.24\00:18:31.44 our back on the Holy Spirit. 00:18:31.47\00:18:33.61 If in your heart, you have any desire for God, 00:18:33.64\00:18:36.08 if you're even worried about that, 00:18:36.11\00:18:37.81 well, that clearly has not happened to you, 00:18:37.88\00:18:40.32 because that's evidence that the Holy Spirit 00:18:40.35\00:18:42.18 is still working in your heart and in your life. 00:18:42.22\00:18:44.92 Very good. Excellent answer. 00:18:44.95\00:18:47.06 Excellent answer. 00:18:47.09\00:18:48.82 Now, if you're just joining us, 00:18:48.86\00:18:50.36 and you're wondering 00:18:50.39\00:18:51.76 how you can submit your questions, 00:18:51.79\00:18:53.29 you can text them to (618) 228-3975 00:18:53.33\00:18:58.17 or you can email them to 00:18:58.20\00:18:59.90 BibleQA@3abn.tv 00:18:59.93\00:19:05.74 Shelley, I want to come to you on this question. 00:19:05.77\00:19:08.64 This comes from Pat out of Oregon. 00:19:08.71\00:19:11.58 And it says, "God knew man and woman 00:19:11.61\00:19:15.48 could not keep the Ten Commandments. 00:19:15.55\00:19:16.92 So why would He create failures?" 00:19:16.95\00:19:19.09 I love this question, Pat. 00:19:19.12\00:19:21.52 God did not create failures, 00:19:21.59\00:19:23.56 He created perfection in His image. 00:19:23.59\00:19:28.43 And the image of God is, He is love. 00:19:28.50\00:19:32.83 So the image of God is love. 00:19:32.87\00:19:35.67 But what happened, Adam, 00:19:35.70\00:19:39.07 I guess you could say that he violated 00:19:39.11\00:19:41.71 the sacred gift of free will. 00:19:41.78\00:19:45.05 And so had humanity remained loyal to God, 00:19:45.08\00:19:50.89 and in that love, 00:19:50.92\00:19:52.62 they would have been able to keep the commandments 00:19:52.65\00:19:54.56 and you know what? 00:19:54.59\00:19:55.92 God Himself descended 00:19:55.96\00:19:57.79 and became a person to show us 00:19:57.83\00:20:00.63 proof to us that it was possible 00:20:00.66\00:20:02.83 the person of Jesus Christ had no advantage over us, 00:20:02.86\00:20:06.57 He never used His godly powers. 00:20:06.60\00:20:10.21 Hebrews 2:17-18 says, 00:20:10.24\00:20:13.31 "Therefore, in all things 00:20:13.34\00:20:15.24 He had to be made like his brethren, 00:20:15.28\00:20:16.61 that He might be a merciful and faithful high priest 00:20:16.64\00:20:19.08 and things pertaining to God, to make 00:20:19.11\00:20:22.48 propitiation for the sins of the people, 00:20:22.52\00:20:24.55 for in that He Himself has suffered, being tempted. 00:20:24.59\00:20:29.12 He's able to aid those who are tempted." 00:20:29.16\00:20:32.36 Hebrews 4:15 says, 00:20:32.39\00:20:34.20 "We do not have a high priest 00:20:34.23\00:20:36.06 who cannot sympathize with our weaknesses, 00:20:36.10\00:20:39.93 but was in all points tempted as we are, yet without sin." 00:20:39.97\00:20:45.91 Yes, because God is omniscient, all knowing, 00:20:45.94\00:20:50.68 He knew we would fall. 00:20:50.71\00:20:54.65 But He had the Calvary plan in mind from before 00:20:54.68\00:20:59.52 the foundation of the earth. 00:20:59.55\00:21:01.76 Revelation 13:8 talks about 00:21:01.79\00:21:05.39 the Lamb slain from the foundation of the world. 00:21:05.43\00:21:08.73 And Romans 5:8 says, 00:21:08.76\00:21:10.80 "He demonstrates His love for us, 00:21:10.83\00:21:13.27 that while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us." 00:21:13.30\00:21:16.50 And now here's the good news, 2 Corinthians 5:17 says 00:21:16.54\00:21:20.78 that "If we are in Christ, we're new creations, 00:21:20.81\00:21:24.11 the old is gone, the new has come." 00:21:24.15\00:21:27.05 And Romans 8:37 says, 00:21:27.08\00:21:29.72 "In all these things, 00:21:29.75\00:21:31.32 we are more than conquerors in Christ Jesus." 00:21:31.35\00:21:36.12 So you're not a failure. You're born again, 00:21:36.16\00:21:39.49 you're a new creation. Amen. 00:21:39.53\00:21:40.86 Amen. Praise God. 00:21:40.90\00:21:42.36 That was beautiful. 00:21:42.40\00:21:43.73 Pastor Day, 00:21:43.77\00:21:45.10 "The Bible says that every eye will see 00:21:45.17\00:21:47.74 Jesus at His second coming. 00:21:47.77\00:21:49.67 Does that mean that the righteous 00:21:49.70\00:21:52.81 and unrighteous dead 00:21:52.84\00:21:54.18 will be resurrected in the first resurrection?" 00:21:54.21\00:21:56.64 Actually, no. 00:21:56.68\00:21:58.05 So when it says, "Every eye will see Him," 00:21:58.08\00:21:59.51 it's talking about every eye that will see Him that's 00:21:59.55\00:22:02.52 alive when He returns, as well as those people 00:22:02.55\00:22:05.32 who will be resurrected. 00:22:05.35\00:22:06.69 Now, who will be resurrected when Christ comes? 00:22:06.72\00:22:08.49 Let's go to John 5:28-29 makes it very clear. 00:22:08.52\00:22:12.59 Jesus says, "Do not marvel at this, for the hour 00:22:12.63\00:22:14.73 is coming in which all who are in the graves will hear 00:22:14.73\00:22:17.03 His voice and come forth, 00:22:17.07\00:22:19.20 those who have done good, to the resurrection of life." 00:22:19.23\00:22:22.50 That's the resurrection at the Second Coming. 00:22:22.54\00:22:24.71 And then it goes on to say, "And those who have done evil, 00:22:24.74\00:22:27.21 to the resurrection of damnation." 00:22:27.24\00:22:29.64 All right. 00:22:29.68\00:22:31.01 Now, when we see these two resurrections, 00:22:31.05\00:22:32.85 resurrection of life, resurrection of damnation, 00:22:32.88\00:22:35.15 these are two separate resurrections. 00:22:35.22\00:22:37.15 So the resurrection of life is at the Second 00:22:37.19\00:22:39.22 Coming of Jesus, we see this in 1 Thessalonians 4:16-17, 00:22:39.25\00:22:43.86 where it says that, you know, 00:22:43.89\00:22:45.23 Jesus comes forward with a shout, 00:22:45.26\00:22:46.86 with the voice of an archangel, with the trump of God, 00:22:46.90\00:22:49.10 and the dead in Christ shall rise first. 00:22:49.13\00:22:51.10 That's the resurrection of life. 00:22:51.13\00:22:52.47 If we die in this lifetime, we want to make sure we're part 00:22:52.50\00:22:54.44 of that first resurrection. 00:22:54.47\00:22:55.84 All right? 00:22:55.87\00:22:57.21 We see this even put into greater 00:22:57.24\00:22:58.57 perspective in Revelation 20:6, 00:22:58.61\00:23:00.38 where it says, "Blessed and 00:23:00.41\00:23:01.74 holyA isA he who has part in the first resurrection," 00:23:01.81\00:23:03.91 again at the Second Coming of Jesus, 00:23:03.95\00:23:05.75 "over such the second death have no power, 00:23:05.78\00:23:08.82 but they shall be priests of God and of Christ, 00:23:08.85\00:23:11.05 and shall reign with Him a thousand years." 00:23:11.09\00:23:13.49 All right, that's verse 5. 00:23:13.52\00:23:15.16 So the righteous resurrected at the Second Coming of Jesus. 00:23:15.19\00:23:19.46 But notice verse 5, 00:23:19.49\00:23:20.83 the previous verse in Chapter 20, it says, 00:23:20.86\00:23:22.43 "But the rest of the dead did not live again until 00:23:22.46\00:23:25.57 the thousand years were finished." 00:23:25.63\00:23:27.50 So the unrighteous that are in the graves 00:23:27.54\00:23:30.07 at the Second Coming of Jesus, they remain in the grave, 00:23:30.11\00:23:32.87 except for a special group. 00:23:32.91\00:23:34.78 We are told in Matthew 26, by Christ, when they were, 00:23:34.84\00:23:37.68 when they were basically putting Jesus through a trial. 00:23:37.71\00:23:41.72 Jesus told Caiaphas, He says he will see 00:23:41.78\00:23:43.45 the Son of Man coming back, 00:23:43.49\00:23:45.55 on the right hand of power in the clouds of heaven. 00:23:45.59\00:23:48.56 And in Revelation 1:7, it does say, "Behold, 00:23:48.62\00:23:50.76 He cometh with clouds, and every eye will see Him, 00:23:50.79\00:23:53.50 even they who pierced Him." 00:23:53.53\00:23:55.36 So the only unrighteous 00:23:55.43\00:23:56.77 who will be resurrected at the Second Coming 00:23:56.80\00:23:58.50 of Jesus is that special group, all those people that actually 00:23:58.53\00:24:02.40 participated in the resurrection, 00:24:02.44\00:24:04.27 or excuse me, the crucifixion of Jesus. 00:24:04.31\00:24:06.81 They'll be resurrected to see Jesus come in the clouds, 00:24:06.84\00:24:09.24 and then they'll be slain at the presence of the Lord. 00:24:09.28\00:24:11.35 But yes, there's two resurrections, 00:24:11.38\00:24:12.71 one at the Second Coming, the resurrection of life, 00:24:12.75\00:24:15.68 and then the, all the dead that are in the graves 00:24:15.72\00:24:17.75 remain in the graves until 00:24:17.79\00:24:19.12 the thousand years are finished, 00:24:19.15\00:24:20.52 and then the unrighteous will be resurrected at the end 00:24:20.56\00:24:22.82 of the thousand years. 00:24:22.86\00:24:24.26 Well said. Well said. 00:24:24.29\00:24:25.89 Jill, "How do you worship in spirit and in truth?" 00:24:25.93\00:24:29.46 I like this question a lot. 00:24:29.50\00:24:30.83 This is probably a topic I feel really passionate about. 00:24:30.87\00:24:32.93 Amen. 00:24:32.97\00:24:34.30 There's two extremes in Christianity. 00:24:34.34\00:24:35.94 You have on the one side feelings, 00:24:35.97\00:24:37.91 emotionalism and I call it a false type of grace, 00:24:37.94\00:24:42.64 because grace doesn't land in that side, 00:24:42.68\00:24:44.38 but a false type would. 00:24:44.41\00:24:45.91 On this side, we have formalism 00:24:45.95\00:24:47.88 and intellectualism and even legalism. 00:24:47.92\00:24:50.99 You know, 2 Peter 3:18 00:24:51.02\00:24:53.96 is probably one of my newest favorite scriptures, 00:24:53.99\00:24:57.06 and it simply says, "Grow in grace 00:24:57.09\00:25:00.13 and the knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ." 00:25:00.16\00:25:04.00 So what does that mean? 00:25:04.03\00:25:05.40 We are called clearly to grow in knowledge, 00:25:05.43\00:25:07.50 we are called to grow in understanding of His Word 00:25:07.54\00:25:11.21 and an intellectual understanding of truth. 00:25:11.24\00:25:14.58 In Acts 17, you see the Bereans, 00:25:14.61\00:25:16.44 who searched the scriptures daily, 00:25:16.48\00:25:19.08 to confirm whether what Paul was teaching was actually true. 00:25:19.11\00:25:23.08 But we don't just grow in knowledge, 00:25:23.12\00:25:25.12 we also grow in grace. 00:25:25.15\00:25:27.56 That is an experiential understanding of Jesus. 00:25:27.59\00:25:32.29 You know, the fruit of the Spirit from Galatians 00:25:32.36\00:25:33.80 5:22, love, joy, peace, long suffering. 00:25:33.83\00:25:36.73 So some people only grow in knowledge. 00:25:36.77\00:25:39.73 Have you ever met a person like that? 00:25:39.77\00:25:42.54 I call them intellectual infidels, 00:25:42.57\00:25:45.31 meaning you can know the Scripture, 00:25:45.34\00:25:47.14 you can claim the 2,300 days, 00:25:47.18\00:25:49.68 you can worship on the seventh day, 00:25:49.71\00:25:51.78 and you can still not even know Jesus. 00:25:51.85\00:25:54.12 If you don't have love in your heart for other people, 00:25:54.15\00:25:57.39 if you don't express patience and joy in Jesus, 00:25:57.42\00:26:01.52 you are not a Christian. 00:26:01.56\00:26:02.96 That's right. 00:26:02.99\00:26:04.33 And on the flip side, if all you do when you 00:26:04.36\00:26:05.89 go to church is love, love, joy 00:26:05.96\00:26:08.60 and the Holy Ghost, 00:26:08.63\00:26:10.53 you are missing an integral part of worship, 00:26:10.57\00:26:14.60 which is the intellectual understanding 00:26:14.64\00:26:17.37 of the Word of God. 00:26:17.41\00:26:18.74 So both are to be married together. 00:26:18.81\00:26:21.31 Jesus explained it this way to the woman at the well. 00:26:21.34\00:26:23.88 This is in John Chapter 4. 00:26:23.91\00:26:25.98 He said, "God is spirit, 00:26:26.01\00:26:27.35 and those who worship Him must worship Him in spirit 00:26:27.38\00:26:29.85 and in truth." 00:26:29.88\00:26:31.22 You see, you and I are called to love the Lord our God, 00:26:31.25\00:26:33.56 not with just all our heart, and soul, but also our mind. 00:26:33.59\00:26:38.19 That's the connection again, between the emotional 00:26:38.23\00:26:41.33 and the intellectual understanding. 00:26:41.36\00:26:43.73 We are called to worship in spirit and in truth. 00:26:43.77\00:26:46.80 Oh, wonderful. 00:26:46.84\00:26:48.17 I loved that, you covered both sides of the coin there. 00:26:48.20\00:26:50.64 That's right. That's really, really good. 00:26:50.67\00:26:53.01 Shelley, "The Bible says 00:26:53.04\00:26:54.94 that we are saved by grace in Ephesians 2:8-9, 00:26:54.98\00:26:58.81 "For by grace, you have been saved through faith 00:26:58.85\00:27:00.95 and that not of yourselves, it is the gift of God 00:27:00.98\00:27:03.92 not of works, lest anyone should boast." 00:27:03.95\00:27:06.65 What does this mean and how can this reflect? 00:27:06.69\00:27:10.53 Or yeah, reflect my life." 00:27:10.56\00:27:13.06 This is from Wessie out of New Mexico. 00:27:13.09\00:27:16.60 Oh, this is one of my favorite topics about 00:27:16.63\00:27:20.04 which I'm passionate. 00:27:20.07\00:27:21.47 Salvation belongs to the Lord. 00:27:21.50\00:27:24.71 Salvation is a gift, 00:27:24.74\00:27:26.51 there is nothing that you can do to earn it. 00:27:26.54\00:27:30.08 It's a gift of His goodness and you see in that scripture, 00:27:30.11\00:27:33.42 even faith is a gift because it says, 00:27:33.45\00:27:36.62 you're saved through faith that not of yourselves. 00:27:36.65\00:27:39.82 The object of our faith is the person of Jesus Christ. 00:27:39.85\00:27:43.16 In 2 Corinthians 5:21, it says, "He made Him Christ, 00:27:43.19\00:27:48.33 who knew no sin to be sin for us that we might 00:27:48.36\00:27:51.07 become the righteousness of God in Him." 00:27:51.10\00:27:56.00 So righteousness by faith is the only kind 00:27:56.04\00:27:58.84 of righteousness there is. 00:27:58.87\00:28:01.34 And what this does is it prevents 00:28:01.38\00:28:04.55 self-righteousness and pride. 00:28:04.58\00:28:06.82 No one can boast. 00:28:06.85\00:28:08.22 In 1 Corinthians 1:30-31, it says, 00:28:08.25\00:28:11.59 "But of Him, you are in Christ Jesus, 00:28:11.62\00:28:13.72 who became for us wisdom from God. 00:28:13.76\00:28:18.79 "Righteousness, our sanctification, 00:28:18.83\00:28:21.96 our redemption, that as it is written, 00:28:22.03\00:28:26.13 He who glories for the glory of the Lord. 00:28:26.17\00:28:28.77 The application is this. 00:28:28.80\00:28:31.74 If you are abiding in Christ, 00:28:31.77\00:28:34.58 if you've received Christ as your Savior, 00:28:34.61\00:28:36.58 and you remain in Christ, 00:28:36.61\00:28:38.58 you can have assurance of your salvation, 00:28:38.61\00:28:41.22 you can rest in that assurance. 00:28:41.25\00:28:43.85 In 1 John 5:11-12, it says, "This is the testimony. 00:28:43.89\00:28:48.82 God has given us eternal life, 00:28:48.89\00:28:51.16 this life is in His Son, 00:28:51.19\00:28:53.43 He who has the Son has life. 00:28:53.46\00:28:57.40 He who does not have the Son does not have life." 00:28:57.43\00:29:00.74 So what is our part? 00:29:00.77\00:29:02.30 Our part is to believe, to receive 00:29:02.34\00:29:05.74 and believing is more than mental assent, 00:29:05.77\00:29:08.41 even the demons believe. 00:29:08.44\00:29:10.21 It means to be living in Him, walking in loyalty, 00:29:10.25\00:29:16.08 walking in love, and that means we obey His commandments. 00:29:16.15\00:29:20.26 If you continue on Ephesians 2:10 says this, 00:29:20.29\00:29:24.26 "We're His workmanship, 00:29:24.29\00:29:26.06 created in Christ Jesus for good works, 00:29:26.09\00:29:29.93 which God prepared beforehand that we should walk in them." 00:29:29.96\00:29:33.23 Amen. Amen. 00:29:33.27\00:29:35.04 I love that how you stated what it means to believe, 00:29:35.07\00:29:38.24 yeah, because I think 00:29:38.27\00:29:39.61 a lot of people get hung up on that. 00:29:39.64\00:29:40.98 That's right. 00:29:41.01\00:29:42.38 Pastor Day, "I was wondering when in the Bible did church 00:29:42.41\00:29:44.78 denominations start and what denominations 00:29:44.81\00:29:47.38 were they before knowledge 00:29:47.42\00:29:48.75 of the Sabbath had been changed?" 00:29:48.82\00:29:51.02 Jennifer, this is from Jennifer out of Colorado. 00:29:51.05\00:29:53.25 That's a great question. 00:29:53.29\00:29:54.62 There's actually not any specific text that explicitly 00:29:54.66\00:29:57.29 talks about denominations or multiple denominations 00:29:57.33\00:30:00.23 in the Scripture. 00:30:00.26\00:30:01.56 We know that you know Bible makes it clear 00:30:01.60\00:30:02.93 that there's one Lord, one faith, one baptism, right? 00:30:02.96\00:30:04.97 That's a famous scripture, Paul quotes 00:30:05.00\00:30:07.54 there in counseling to the church. 00:30:07.57\00:30:09.54 We have to understand that when it comes to Scripture, 00:30:09.57\00:30:12.94 we see that we have God's people 00:30:12.97\00:30:14.94 and we have really the enemy's seed, right? 00:30:14.98\00:30:17.25 The woman seed and all the way back to 00:30:17.28\00:30:19.35 Genesis 3:15 00:30:19.41\00:30:20.82 where Jesus promised that there would be enmity 00:30:20.85\00:30:23.35 between the woman seed and, of course, 00:30:23.39\00:30:25.65 the seed of the enemy, the seed of the serpent. 00:30:25.69\00:30:27.76 We know that that woman is not necessarily 00:30:27.79\00:30:29.56 referencing Eve specifically, but rather a continuance 00:30:29.59\00:30:32.86 of the church because a woman in Bible prophecy represents 00:30:32.89\00:30:35.86 a church or a woman in the Bible 00:30:35.93\00:30:37.27 is likened unto a church. 00:30:37.30\00:30:38.73 And so we get that from, of course, Jeremiah 6:2, 00:30:38.80\00:30:43.20 and also 2 Corinthians 11:2 00:30:43.24\00:30:46.31 where the church is likened into a woman. 00:30:46.34\00:30:48.71 And so we see biblically speaking, 00:30:48.74\00:30:50.61 God has always had just His people. 00:30:50.65\00:30:52.91 And then the enemies of the church or the enemies 00:30:52.95\00:30:55.28 of God who did not fall in line with that faith 00:30:55.35\00:30:58.22 that God had called His people into. 00:30:58.25\00:31:00.22 Now, where denominations come in, 00:31:00.26\00:31:01.72 of course, specifically, 00:31:01.76\00:31:03.59 is from the Reformation, the Reformation time period, 00:31:03.63\00:31:06.43 which is around the early 1500s AD. 00:31:06.46\00:31:09.23 We see out of that Reformation, 00:31:09.26\00:31:10.83 at one time there was only one Christian church, 00:31:10.87\00:31:14.20 and that was the Catholic Church, 00:31:14.24\00:31:15.67 in fact that's what Catholic means universal, 00:31:15.70\00:31:17.84 there was only one universal church. 00:31:17.87\00:31:19.57 Out of that Reformation came many different denominations. 00:31:19.61\00:31:23.18 And I don't think it was God's plan for there to be all 00:31:23.21\00:31:25.48 these different divisional denominations. 00:31:25.51\00:31:27.92 But that is the reality. 00:31:27.95\00:31:29.28 In fact, today, there's more than 00:31:29.35\00:31:30.69 40,000 different 00:31:30.72\00:31:32.05 Protestant denominations in the world today. 00:31:32.09\00:31:34.52 But let's put this in perspective here. 00:31:34.56\00:31:36.32 You know, this is, 00:31:36.36\00:31:37.69 this multiple denomination thing, 00:31:37.73\00:31:39.06 you know, people breaking away 00:31:39.09\00:31:40.43 and starting their own movement. 00:31:40.46\00:31:41.80 Of course, we know prior to the giving 00:31:41.83\00:31:43.73 of the Sabbath message, 00:31:43.77\00:31:45.10 or as the question is stating here, 00:31:45.17\00:31:47.50 there was only that one true faith that came 00:31:47.54\00:31:49.97 from the apostles, from the leadership of Christ, 00:31:50.01\00:31:52.41 and they were Sabbath keepers. 00:31:52.44\00:31:53.78 But within the first three to four centuries, 00:31:53.81\00:31:56.75 after Jesus had died, after the apostles had died, 00:31:56.78\00:31:59.78 all the way up till about the 300s AD 00:31:59.81\00:32:02.02 is when we start to see the breaking away 00:32:02.08\00:32:04.75 of Sabbath keeping, 00:32:04.79\00:32:06.12 the ushering in of Sunday keeping. 00:32:06.15\00:32:07.92 And we start to see that universal church being set up. 00:32:07.96\00:32:10.73 And, of course, by the 1500s, 00:32:10.76\00:32:12.26 there comes all the different denominations. 00:32:12.29\00:32:14.30 There's a whole lot more I could say about it, 00:32:14.30\00:32:15.63 but my time is out. 00:32:15.70\00:32:19.80 You gave us a quick history. 00:32:19.83\00:32:22.84 That's good. That's good. 00:32:22.87\00:32:24.37 Jill, you will have a little bit 00:32:24.41\00:32:26.11 more time to answer this one. 00:32:26.14\00:32:27.71 This is a three minute deal here. 00:32:27.74\00:32:30.01 "Hebrew states that God chastises those He loves. 00:32:30.05\00:32:33.85 How does He do that? 00:32:33.88\00:32:35.72 And with what based on your experience or hearing?" 00:32:35.75\00:32:40.56 Thank you so much, Karen, for that question. 00:32:40.59\00:32:43.29 The verse, of course, it's been referenced as Hebrews 12:6, 00:32:43.32\00:32:47.20 "For whom the Lord loves He chastens and scourges 00:32:47.23\00:32:50.57 every son whom He receives." 00:32:50.60\00:32:53.27 Now, your question was not 00:32:53.30\00:32:54.64 I read it three times to make sure I got it. 00:32:54.67\00:32:56.47 But your question was not specifically, 00:32:56.50\00:32:58.37 why does He chasten us, but really, 00:32:58.41\00:33:00.91 how does the chastening process occur. 00:33:00.94\00:33:03.91 So if you want the answer to the why, 00:33:03.95\00:33:05.65 we can address that on a different question. 00:33:05.68\00:33:07.15 I'm not even touching that in this answer, 00:33:07.18\00:33:09.02 but we're looking at the how, how does He chasten us? 00:33:09.05\00:33:11.55 I would say, there's four ways that God chastens us. 00:33:11.59\00:33:14.69 Way number one is through His Word. 00:33:14.72\00:33:17.09 Hebrews 4:12, 00:33:17.13\00:33:18.46 "The Word of God is living or quick and powerful, 00:33:18.49\00:33:21.56 and sharper than any two-edged sword, 00:33:21.60\00:33:24.23 piercing even to the division of soul 00:33:24.27\00:33:26.23 and spirit of joints and marrow, 00:33:26.27\00:33:28.64 and is a discerner of the thoughts 00:33:28.70\00:33:30.74 and intents of the heart." 00:33:30.77\00:33:32.77 So the Word of God brings conviction us in, 00:33:32.81\00:33:34.71 I don't know about you, but I've opened up my Bible. 00:33:34.74\00:33:37.45 And I've read scripture just in my morning devotion, 00:33:37.48\00:33:40.18 and instantly God speaks to my heart and mind and say, 00:33:40.22\00:33:43.42 "Jill, you're out of line here." 00:33:43.45\00:33:44.79 That is the chastening 00:33:44.82\00:33:46.42 of the Lord coming from the Word of God. 00:33:46.45\00:33:49.12 Amen. 00:33:49.16\00:33:50.49 The second way He chastens us, is through life's trials. 00:33:50.53\00:33:54.30 Now we're not looking at why or who causes 00:33:54.36\00:33:56.60 the trials, we're just looking at the how. 00:33:56.63\00:33:58.60 How does the chastening occur through life's trials? 00:33:58.63\00:34:02.64 I would tell you that trials are only redemptive 00:34:02.67\00:34:06.41 if we surrender, and we receive them. 00:34:06.44\00:34:10.75 You know, 2 Corinthians 4:17 says, 00:34:10.78\00:34:12.61 our light affliction which is but for a moment, 00:34:12.65\00:34:14.65 works for us an eternal of... 00:34:14.68\00:34:17.22 Works for us a far more exceeding 00:34:17.25\00:34:19.05 and eternal weight of glory. 00:34:19.09\00:34:21.42 You know, trials can make us bitter. 00:34:21.46\00:34:22.92 Have you ever seen that? 00:34:22.96\00:34:24.29 Have you ever seen someone go through a trial 00:34:24.33\00:34:26.09 and they turned against God? 00:34:26.13\00:34:27.66 They became a bitter person, they became resentful, 00:34:27.66\00:34:30.00 they became unforgiving. 00:34:30.03\00:34:31.83 That is when we receive trials in the wrong spirit. 00:34:31.87\00:34:35.27 But if we open up our hearts to God in the midst of pain, 00:34:35.30\00:34:40.08 God can use those trials to work 00:34:40.11\00:34:42.31 redemptively in our lives. 00:34:42.34\00:34:45.68 I think we need to receive trials with joy. 00:34:45.71\00:34:47.78 Now this is a hard thing. 00:34:47.82\00:34:49.18 James Chapter 1, 00:34:49.25\00:34:50.59 we're supposed to count it and joy 00:34:50.62\00:34:52.42 when we go through that. 00:34:52.45\00:34:53.79 That doesn't mean that the trial is a good thing, 00:34:53.82\00:34:55.49 but it means God can bring something good out of it. 00:34:55.52\00:34:58.96 We're supposed to ask God 00:34:58.99\00:35:00.40 what we can learn in the midst 00:35:00.43\00:35:01.73 of the trial and allow Him to teach us. 00:35:01.76\00:35:04.53 We're supposed to allow Him to work redemptively 00:35:04.57\00:35:06.90 in our hearts and lives. 00:35:06.94\00:35:08.40 The final two ways, trials, 00:35:08.44\00:35:10.67 how God chastens us through that. 00:35:10.71\00:35:15.51 Number three is through our interactions with others. 00:35:15.54\00:35:18.68 You know, Proverbs 27:17 says, "As iron sharpens iron, 00:35:18.71\00:35:22.85 so a man sharpens the countenance of his friend." 00:35:22.88\00:35:24.99 In other words, the natural rub we have with other people. 00:35:25.02\00:35:28.42 That's the way that God uses to chasten us 00:35:28.46\00:35:31.49 or to grow us to become more like Jesus. 00:35:31.53\00:35:35.13 And the final way is through the convicting power 00:35:35.16\00:35:37.30 of the Holy Spirit. 00:35:37.33\00:35:38.77 Howbeit when he, the Spirit of truth is come, 00:35:38.80\00:35:40.97 he will convict you and I of truth, 00:35:41.00\00:35:43.64 righteousness and judgment." 00:35:43.67\00:35:45.11 So the Holy Spirit chastens us as well. 00:35:45.14\00:35:47.88 So we are chastened by the Word, 00:35:47.91\00:35:49.28 we're chastened through life's trials. 00:35:49.31\00:35:51.61 We're chastened through our interaction 00:35:51.65\00:35:53.25 with other people, 00:35:53.28\00:35:54.62 and by the power of the Holy Spirit. 00:35:54.65\00:35:56.32 Amen. Wonderful. 00:35:56.35\00:35:57.69 Amen. Amen. Great list too. 00:35:57.72\00:35:59.62 Yes, great list. 00:35:59.69\00:36:01.19 Shelley, you have, how many minutes? 00:36:01.22\00:36:04.03 Three minutes for this question. 00:36:04.06\00:36:06.36 "How is the Holy Ghost God? 00:36:06.39\00:36:09.20 Just need an explanation." Woo-hoo, okay. 00:36:09.23\00:36:12.07 The second fundamental belief 00:36:12.10\00:36:13.70 of the Seventh-day Adventist Church 00:36:13.74\00:36:15.17 is in the Trinity and it says, there's one God, Father, Son, 00:36:15.20\00:36:19.54 and Holy Spirit, a unity of three co-eternal persons. 00:36:19.61\00:36:23.68 Why do we believe this? 00:36:23.71\00:36:25.05 Because there are 58 triadic scriptures in the Bible 00:36:25.08\00:36:30.79 that support Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. 00:36:30.82\00:36:35.09 The Word of God unequivocally teaches that the Holy Spirit 00:36:35.12\00:36:40.50 is as much a personality as the Father 00:36:40.53\00:36:44.37 and the Son. 00:36:44.40\00:36:45.73 And he has all of the elements of personhood. 00:36:45.77\00:36:49.00 He's ascribed to have wisdom, understanding, authoritative 00:36:49.04\00:36:54.08 will, emotion in speech. 00:36:54.11\00:36:56.71 And then Jill referred this earlier, 00:36:56.75\00:36:58.55 Acts 5:3-4, when Ananias lied to the Holy Spirit 00:36:58.58\00:37:04.42 or to about his, 00:37:04.45\00:37:07.42 Ananias and Sapphira had lied. 00:37:07.46\00:37:10.73 What Peter said is, 00:37:10.76\00:37:13.13 "You have lied to the Holy Spirit," 00:37:13.16\00:37:15.96 and then he says, 00:37:16.00\00:37:17.33 "Ananias you haven't lied to man, but to God." 00:37:17.37\00:37:22.74 In John 14:16, 00:37:22.80\00:37:24.44 this is one of my favorite proof text if you will. 00:37:24.47\00:37:28.94 Jesus is speaking. 00:37:28.98\00:37:30.31 He says, "I will pray to Father 00:37:30.35\00:37:31.68 He will give you another helper 00:37:31.71\00:37:35.62 that He can be with you 00:37:35.68\00:37:39.59 or abide with you forever." 00:37:39.65\00:37:41.66 Another helper in the Greek it is allos parakletos. 00:37:41.69\00:37:47.50 A parakletos is only a person, 00:37:47.50\00:37:50.47 it is a person. 00:37:50.50\00:37:52.00 And it's only used, it was used of the Messiah, 00:37:52.03\00:37:54.80 Jesus is now our advocate, our parakletos, 00:37:54.84\00:37:58.44 our helper in heaven. 00:37:58.47\00:38:00.54 But what we see here is that he says allos parakletos. 00:38:00.58\00:38:06.25 There's two words in the Greek heteros and allos, 00:38:06.31\00:38:10.22 which mean another. 00:38:10.25\00:38:11.69 Heteros means like, if I give you a bowl of fruit, 00:38:11.72\00:38:15.32 or you've had a banana, I said, 00:38:15.36\00:38:16.73 you want another piece of fruit, 00:38:16.76\00:38:18.39 heteros, you might choose an orange, 00:38:18.43\00:38:20.83 just another of a different kind. 00:38:20.86\00:38:23.16 But allos means one who is exactly like Me. 00:38:23.23\00:38:28.90 And that's what Jesus is saying is, 00:38:28.94\00:38:31.77 this advocate is of the same quality, 00:38:31.81\00:38:34.54 the same character as Me, He is God. 00:38:34.58\00:38:38.95 There is no comparison between Christ 00:38:38.98\00:38:43.69 and just abstract influence. 00:38:43.72\00:38:48.16 So we see that the Holy Spirit 00:38:48.19\00:38:50.96 is God's advocate for man on the earth 00:38:50.99\00:38:56.10 when Jesus returned to heaven. 00:38:56.13\00:38:59.17 God came down in as the Holy Spirit 00:38:59.20\00:39:04.47 to be with us to abide in us. 00:39:04.51\00:39:07.18 And we see Acts 13:2 00:39:07.21\00:39:09.84 the Holy Spirit chose church leaders. 00:39:09.91\00:39:13.52 In Acts 15:28, He led in church decisions. 00:39:13.55\00:39:18.19 Acts 16:6-7, 00:39:18.22\00:39:20.72 He led in the direction 00:39:20.76\00:39:22.69 of where the gospel would be preached. 00:39:22.72\00:39:25.09 He is God. Amen. 00:39:25.13\00:39:27.13 I'm gonna have to brush up on my Greek 00:39:27.20\00:39:28.83 and my 58 triadic scriptures. 00:39:28.86\00:39:31.70 That was a good work. That's going to have to. 00:39:31.73\00:39:34.24 I've to work on that. There you go, that's right. 00:39:34.27\00:39:36.54 Pastor Day, on Psalm 150:4, 00:39:36.57\00:39:42.24 "Praise him with the timbrel and dance, 00:39:42.28\00:39:44.81 praise Him with the stringed instruments and organs." 00:39:44.85\00:39:48.58 Psalm 150. 00:39:48.62\00:39:50.05 Is it possible to worship and praise with timbrel? 00:39:50.09\00:39:52.92 If not, why? 00:39:52.99\00:39:54.32 Why is dance not permitted in worship?" 00:39:54.36\00:39:57.86 Okay, well, let's read, let's read what Psalm 150:3-6, 00:39:57.89\00:40:01.13 let's put it in perspective. 00:40:01.16\00:40:02.50 It says, "Praise Him with the sound of the trumpet, 00:40:02.56\00:40:04.63 praise Him with the lute and the harp! 00:40:04.67\00:40:06.57 Praise Him with the timbrel and dance," 00:40:06.63\00:40:08.47 there's the verse there, verse 4, 00:40:08.50\00:40:09.90 "Praise Him with 00:40:09.94\00:40:11.27 stringed instruments and flutes!" 00:40:11.31\00:40:12.67 Verse five, "Praise Him with loud cymbals, 00:40:12.71\00:40:15.18 and praise Him with clashing cymbals!" 00:40:15.21\00:40:17.31 Right? 00:40:17.35\00:40:19.01 And so it goes on to say in verse 6, 00:40:19.05\00:40:20.38 "Let everything that has breath praise the Lord." 00:40:20.42\00:40:23.08 And so the question here is, 00:40:23.12\00:40:24.45 you know, can we and should we use, 00:40:24.49\00:40:26.69 like the timbrel, is it appropriate? 00:40:26.72\00:40:28.79 I'll tell you, it's in the Bible, 00:40:28.82\00:40:30.29 it's appropriate. 00:40:30.33\00:40:31.66 I think when we start to get into our own theories 00:40:31.69\00:40:33.93 and ideas, that's where we start to mess up. 00:40:33.96\00:40:35.86 If it's in the Bible, it's appropriate 00:40:35.93\00:40:37.37 and we have to put it in proper perspective. 00:40:37.40\00:40:39.60 I was at a meeting recently in Alabama, 00:40:39.63\00:40:42.14 and I was out in the hallway and they were there leading 00:40:42.17\00:40:44.61 music before my meetings began or my sermon began. 00:40:44.64\00:40:47.14 And I heard a tambourine. 00:40:47.18\00:40:48.58 Somebody had a tambourine, 00:40:48.61\00:40:49.94 which is a timbrel is basically a tambourine. 00:40:49.98\00:40:51.58 It's a type of percussive instrument that gives 00:40:51.61\00:40:53.68 a little bit of a rhythmic aspect to the music. 00:40:53.72\00:40:57.42 So somebody was in there, you know, 00:40:57.45\00:40:58.79 playing I can hear the timbrel or the timbrel 00:40:58.82\00:41:00.62 or the tambourines, keeps going. 00:41:00.66\00:41:03.36 And so you know, some of the people are a little 00:41:03.39\00:41:04.99 uncomfortable, because, again, you know, 00:41:05.03\00:41:06.80 it's a house of God and we should be, 00:41:06.83\00:41:08.33 you know, we should be reverence. 00:41:08.36\00:41:09.83 And certainly, we absolutely 00:41:09.86\00:41:11.57 should be reverential in the presence 00:41:11.60\00:41:12.93 of God and in God's house. 00:41:13.00\00:41:14.34 But yet when we're worshiping God, 00:41:14.37\00:41:15.70 we do have clear counsel given in God's Word 00:41:15.74\00:41:18.97 where we can use these certain instruments to praise God 00:41:19.01\00:41:21.61 and we should not withhold it. 00:41:21.64\00:41:23.01 If there's an opportunity 00:41:23.04\00:41:24.38 and whether someone can play it skillfully and that's the key, 00:41:24.41\00:41:26.92 skillfully and appropriately. 00:41:26.95\00:41:28.52 We don't just want somebody in there just shaking stuff 00:41:28.55\00:41:30.75 around causing havoc or chaos, 00:41:30.79\00:41:33.22 but skillfully playing these instruments. 00:41:33.25\00:41:35.29 That's the key. 00:41:35.32\00:41:36.69 As far as the dancing, you know, that's the thing, 00:41:36.73\00:41:38.63 you know, it's in the Bible, we certainly can't deny 00:41:38.66\00:41:41.33 the fact that there were individuals who, 00:41:41.36\00:41:43.10 especially with David in 2 Samuel Chapter 6, 00:41:43.13\00:41:45.80 where it says David danced before the Lord. 00:41:45.87\00:41:48.20 Now there have been done some research where it says, 00:41:48.24\00:41:49.94 where David wasn't out there doing the, you know, 00:41:49.97\00:41:51.94 it wasn't like he was out there doing the cha cha slide, 00:41:51.97\00:41:53.91 or the electric slide or gyrating, you know, 00:41:53.94\00:41:56.18 to, you know, in kind of a nightclub type way, 00:41:56.21\00:41:58.68 you know, like what you might see in an area like that, 00:41:58.71\00:42:01.78 but he was leaping, he was twirling, 00:42:01.82\00:42:03.39 he was dancing, in a sense, because he was happy 00:42:03.42\00:42:06.32 that the Ark of the Lord had been returned. 00:42:06.35\00:42:08.16 So I'm not going to go as far 00:42:08.19\00:42:09.52 as to say that dancing is wrong. 00:42:09.59\00:42:11.69 But we certainly aren't talking about like nightclub dancing 00:42:11.73\00:42:14.46 or choreography dancing, like what you see in a music show 00:42:14.50\00:42:17.40 or a music award show or something like that. 00:42:17.43\00:42:19.77 We have to put that in perspective. 00:42:19.80\00:42:21.34 I'm going to leave it to that, because I believe 00:42:21.37\00:42:24.14 we need some more study in that area. 00:42:24.17\00:42:25.61 So maybe our scholars or somebody will come out 00:42:25.64\00:42:27.84 with some appropriate studies on what does it mean to dance 00:42:27.88\00:42:30.98 before the Lord, that's something 00:42:31.01\00:42:32.35 we need to put in proper context, 00:42:32.38\00:42:33.72 but we know for sure they weren't out there gyrating 00:42:33.75\00:42:36.12 and shaking things that they probably shouldn't 00:42:36.15\00:42:37.82 and in an inappropriate way. 00:42:37.85\00:42:39.59 We have to be appropriate and reverential. 00:42:39.62\00:42:42.06 Be respectful to our Lord, when we're worshiping Him. 00:42:42.09\00:42:44.96 I have to add this comment. 00:42:44.99\00:42:46.53 In the Hebrew rejoice, the literal meaning 00:42:46.56\00:42:50.63 of rejoice is to spin and turn around 00:42:50.67\00:42:55.24 just like a calf that's been released from stall. 00:42:55.27\00:42:58.97 Kicking up the heels. 00:42:59.01\00:43:00.41 It is, it's kicking up their heels. 00:43:00.44\00:43:02.48 Amen. 00:43:02.51\00:43:03.91 I'll be interested in seeing that dance there. 00:43:03.95\00:43:06.85 Jill, this comes from Shelley out of Jamaica. 00:43:06.88\00:43:12.15 "In Mark 16:7, 00:43:12.19\00:43:14.82 is there a reason why Peter's name 00:43:14.86\00:43:16.76 was called in particular?" 00:43:16.79\00:43:18.96 Thank you so much, Shelley, for that question. 00:43:18.99\00:43:20.96 Of course, this is resurrection morning 00:43:20.96\00:43:22.56 and the woman go with the spices to anoint 00:43:22.60\00:43:24.47 Jesus' body, but He's not there, 00:43:24.50\00:43:26.84 because He is risen. 00:43:26.87\00:43:28.74 And the angel instructs them that Jesus is risen 00:43:28.77\00:43:30.97 and then what does the angel say? 00:43:31.01\00:43:33.54 This is in that Mark 16:7, 00:43:33.58\00:43:36.08 "Go tell the disciples and Peter, 00:43:36.14\00:43:39.61 that he's going before you into Galilee, 00:43:39.65\00:43:41.62 there you will see Him as He said to you." 00:43:41.65\00:43:44.32 So I think initially, we could, 00:43:44.35\00:43:47.02 for sure say that this expresses 00:43:47.06\00:43:50.23 our Lord's love for Peter. 00:43:50.26\00:43:51.59 Remember, Peter had denied Jesus, 00:43:51.63\00:43:53.33 right before the crucifixion, and Peter is in anguish, 00:43:53.40\00:43:56.03 and Peter's in agony. 00:43:56.06\00:43:57.77 And the Lord knows that and the Lord specifically 00:43:57.80\00:44:01.07 wanting to express His love, His care, His forgiveness, 00:44:01.10\00:44:04.77 His compassion for Peter. 00:44:04.81\00:44:07.01 And He reminds Peter that again, in John 21, 00:44:07.04\00:44:09.64 thereby the Sea of Galilee, 00:44:09.68\00:44:11.35 and when He asked him three times, 00:44:11.38\00:44:13.11 "Simon, son of Jonas, 00:44:13.15\00:44:14.55 do you love Me?" 00:44:14.58\00:44:16.52 I also think if we look at it a little bit deeper, 00:44:16.58\00:44:18.82 I believe that God deals with us all individually. 00:44:18.85\00:44:22.46 You know, if you were to call a doctor, 00:44:22.49\00:44:24.13 and you were to express your symptoms, 00:44:24.16\00:44:25.89 what if the doctor gave the same prescription? 00:44:25.93\00:44:28.00 And he said, "Take two aspirin and call me in the morning." 00:44:28.03\00:44:30.70 If you have a headache, it works really well. 00:44:30.73\00:44:32.57 If you had a ruptured appendix, you might die. 00:44:32.60\00:44:35.34 If you are a parent, 00:44:35.37\00:44:36.71 you do not treat all of your children the same. 00:44:36.77\00:44:39.74 You know, Moses took a 40 year timeout. 00:44:39.77\00:44:42.61 Esther fasted for three days. 00:44:42.64\00:44:44.41 Joshua marched around Jericho for seven days. 00:44:44.45\00:44:47.78 God wrestled with Jacob, argued with Job, 00:44:47.82\00:44:50.79 whispered to Elijah, and comforted Hagar. 00:44:50.82\00:44:54.36 Jesus was stern with a rich young ruler, 00:44:54.39\00:44:57.03 tender with a woman caught in adultery, 00:44:57.06\00:44:59.59 patient with the disciples, blistering with the Scribes, 00:44:59.66\00:45:03.83 gentle with the children, 00:45:03.87\00:45:05.57 and forgiving with a thief on the cross. 00:45:05.60\00:45:07.84 So you know what that tells me? 00:45:07.87\00:45:09.24 Our Lord deals with each one of us individually, 00:45:09.27\00:45:12.87 because He knows us, because He made us 00:45:12.94\00:45:15.51 and because He wants to restore our relationship with Him. 00:45:15.54\00:45:19.88 That's right. That's right. 00:45:19.91\00:45:21.25 Oh, beautiful. I love those examples. 00:45:21.28\00:45:22.88 And it's, oh, that's exciting, 00:45:22.95\00:45:24.59 and it's comforting to know that He 00:45:24.62\00:45:26.76 has that relationship with each other. 00:45:26.82\00:45:28.16 It's beautiful. Amen. 00:45:28.19\00:45:29.52 Amen. 00:45:29.56\00:45:30.89 Shelley, "Did God know ahead of time 00:45:30.93\00:45:32.76 that Jesus would be killed on a cross?" 00:45:32.79\00:45:35.26 This comes from Alba out of Nicaragua? 00:45:35.30\00:45:38.37 Oh, Alba, I'm gonna just answer you directly from Scripture. 00:45:38.40\00:45:43.14 I'm just gonna read you a number of scriptures. 00:45:43.17\00:45:44.87 Let me say this, 00:45:44.91\00:45:46.31 the second person of the Godhead, 00:45:46.34\00:45:50.71 before He was incarnated, He was eternally 00:45:50.75\00:45:54.85 the Lamb of God. 00:45:54.88\00:45:56.42 And we know that because Revelation 13:8 00:45:56.45\00:45:59.59 speaks of the Lamb of God, 00:45:59.62\00:46:02.42 who was the foundation, 00:46:02.46\00:46:04.16 or who was slain from the foundation of the world. 00:46:04.19\00:46:07.86 So He was in the anticipation of His incarnation, 00:46:07.86\00:46:13.40 He was eternally the Lamb of God. 00:46:13.47\00:46:15.70 1 Peter 1:18-21 says 00:46:15.74\00:46:19.24 that we weren't redeemed with corruptible things 00:46:19.27\00:46:23.81 like silver or gold, but with the precious blood 00:46:23.85\00:46:27.58 of Jesus Christ, the Lamb without blemish or spot. 00:46:27.62\00:46:32.35 And verse 20 says, 00:46:32.39\00:46:33.96 "He indeed was foreordained before 00:46:33.99\00:46:38.23 the foundation of the world." 00:46:38.26\00:46:42.03 Ephesians 3:8-12, 00:46:42.06\00:46:45.20 Paul says, hey, "I'm least of the saints, 00:46:45.23\00:46:47.90 but this grace was given to me, 00:46:47.94\00:46:50.01 so that I can preach to you 00:46:50.04\00:46:51.41 the unsearchable riches of Christ." 00:46:51.44\00:46:57.31 And then he goes on in verse 11, 00:46:57.35\00:46:59.31 he says, 00:46:59.35\00:47:00.75 "According to the eternal purpose, 00:47:00.78\00:47:05.49 which he accomplished in Christ, 00:47:05.52\00:47:08.42 our Lord." 00:47:08.46\00:47:09.79 And then Philippians 2:5-8, 00:47:09.86\00:47:12.33 which was probably one of my favorite passages. 00:47:12.36\00:47:16.60 It says, "Let this mind be in you, 00:47:16.67\00:47:18.80 which was in Christ Jesus, who being in the form of God, 00:47:18.83\00:47:22.77 He was God, did not consider it robbery to be equal with God, 00:47:22.80\00:47:27.28 because He was God. 00:47:27.31\00:47:29.04 But He made himself of no reputation." 00:47:29.08\00:47:31.35 Think of the humility that our God 00:47:31.38\00:47:36.32 had to have to come down 00:47:36.38\00:47:39.45 and take on the flesh of a man. 00:47:39.49\00:47:43.16 And then it says, 00:47:43.22\00:47:44.59 "And He humbled Himself, 00:47:44.63\00:47:46.70 and became obedient to the point of death." 00:47:46.73\00:47:50.57 Even the death of the cross. 00:47:50.60\00:47:52.77 So all along, God knew, yes, 00:47:52.80\00:47:57.37 that He would have to come down here 00:47:57.41\00:47:59.94 and sacrifice the way He did to save His people. 00:48:00.04\00:48:05.58 Thank you for that explanation, Shelley. 00:48:05.61\00:48:07.35 Amen. 00:48:07.38\00:48:08.72 "In the gospels, Christ refers to those 00:48:08.75\00:48:10.82 who are first will be last, what does that mean? 00:48:10.85\00:48:14.29 I understand the meaning in Mark Chapter 9 to the apostles. 00:48:14.32\00:48:18.36 It is in other places, I am not sure. 00:48:18.39\00:48:20.43 Do they all have the same meaning?" 00:48:20.50\00:48:22.63 Okay, so it must be an extra question. 00:48:22.66\00:48:24.57 Yeah, anybody can answer. All right. 00:48:24.60\00:48:26.90 All right. 00:48:26.94\00:48:28.27 So yeah, I'll jump in here 00:48:28.30\00:48:29.64 and then you guys can add anything you want. 00:48:29.67\00:48:31.31 Obviously, Christ repeats this many times 00:48:31.34\00:48:33.74 throughout the record of the gospels. 00:48:33.78\00:48:35.58 I'm going to use for example today, 00:48:35.61\00:48:39.08 what we find in Matthew Chapter 19, 00:48:39.11\00:48:40.78 and also Matthew Chapter 20. 00:48:40.82\00:48:42.88 Because this comes within the context in Matthew 19, 00:48:42.95\00:48:45.52 Jesus has just had this encounter 00:48:45.55\00:48:46.92 with the rich young ruler who comes to Him 00:48:46.96\00:48:48.52 and says, "What do I do to have eternal life?" 00:48:48.56\00:48:50.79 And Jesus begins to name off some of the commandments. 00:48:50.83\00:48:54.20 And he says, "Oh, Jesus, you know, 00:48:54.20\00:48:55.53 I've kept those from my youth, we're all good there. 00:48:55.56\00:48:58.50 So what else must I need to do?" 00:48:58.53\00:48:59.87 He says, "Okay, well if you've kept them off 00:48:59.90\00:49:01.30 and go sell all that you have and give to the poor 00:49:01.34\00:49:03.10 and come follow Me." 00:49:03.14\00:49:04.71 So in the aftermath of that, 00:49:04.74\00:49:06.47 we see that the rich young ruler 00:49:06.54\00:49:08.44 walks away sorrowful, 00:49:08.48\00:49:10.15 okay, he couldn't do it. 00:49:10.21\00:49:11.55 He couldn't give away his belongings 00:49:11.58\00:49:12.95 because he had an abundance of wealth, right? 00:49:12.98\00:49:15.05 Out of that Jesus has this conversation 00:49:15.08\00:49:17.29 with the disciples and disciples say, "Lord, 00:49:17.35\00:49:18.69 we've given up everything for You. 00:49:18.72\00:49:20.36 So then what does that mean for us?" 00:49:20.42\00:49:22.12 And so Jesus says this at the end of Matthew 19, 00:49:22.16\00:49:24.43 so I'm looking at chapter, excuse me, Matthew 19:29-30. 00:49:24.46\00:49:29.83 It says, "And everyone who has left houses 00:49:29.90\00:49:31.67 or brothers or sister or father or mother or wife or children 00:49:31.70\00:49:34.90 or lands, for My namesake, shall receive a hundredfold 00:49:34.94\00:49:38.34 and inherit eternal life." 00:49:38.37\00:49:40.04 And then verse 30, 00:49:40.11\00:49:41.44 "But many who are first will be last, 00:49:41.48\00:49:43.01 and the last first." 00:49:43.08\00:49:44.41 Within this context, what Christ is pointing out 00:49:44.45\00:49:47.05 is that there are individuals 00:49:47.08\00:49:48.52 who put themselves first before anyone else. 00:49:48.55\00:49:51.05 In other words, they have kind of this selfish outlook 00:49:51.09\00:49:53.49 of the opposite of what Christ said, 00:49:53.52\00:49:55.32 "Love your neighbor as you love yourself." 00:49:55.36\00:49:57.69 These individuals are looking for itself first to basically 00:49:57.73\00:50:02.23 have an abundance of what they want rather 00:50:02.26\00:50:04.03 than what their fellow brother wants. 00:50:04.07\00:50:05.77 And so Christ is basically, within this context. 00:50:05.80\00:50:08.47 He's saying, look, those who are first 00:50:08.50\00:50:10.61 will be last those who make themselves first will be last. 00:50:10.64\00:50:13.07 And those who are last will be first. 00:50:13.11\00:50:14.61 That's exactly what the disciples had done. 00:50:14.64\00:50:16.14 They had given away everything, 00:50:16.18\00:50:17.95 they had walked away from everything, 00:50:17.98\00:50:19.31 and they put God first, 00:50:19.35\00:50:20.68 therefore putting their fellow man first. 00:50:20.72\00:50:22.72 We also see this in the very next chapter, 00:50:22.75\00:50:25.02 within the context of the parable 00:50:25.05\00:50:26.76 of the workers in the vineyard. 00:50:26.79\00:50:28.29 Some of the workers are hired on earlier, 00:50:28.32\00:50:30.43 and you know, the first part of the day, 00:50:30.46\00:50:32.23 and then some are hired in the 11th hour. 00:50:32.26\00:50:33.93 And then, you know, the master begins to hand out 00:50:33.96\00:50:36.10 the payment for the day. 00:50:36.13\00:50:37.47 And the ones that were hired first said whoa, whoa, whoa, 00:50:37.50\00:50:39.00 you can't give them the same that you're giving us. 00:50:39.03\00:50:42.10 In other words, putting themselves first 00:50:42.14\00:50:44.37 before the others, wanting what they thought 00:50:44.41\00:50:46.84 was best for them over what was, 00:50:46.88\00:50:48.94 what the master wanted for those 00:50:48.98\00:50:50.95 who were hired in the 11th hour. 00:50:50.98\00:50:52.35 And Jesus again repeats in verse 16 of Matthew 20. 00:50:52.38\00:50:55.22 "So the last will be first and the first last, 00:50:55.25\00:50:57.89 for many are called and few are chosen." 00:50:57.92\00:50:59.92 The concept to this I believe very clearly 00:50:59.95\00:51:01.76 is that we need to have the mind of Christ, 00:51:01.79\00:51:04.26 the mind of Christ is to love your neighbor 00:51:04.29\00:51:06.13 as you love yourself, putting someone else 00:51:06.16\00:51:08.10 above your own for the sake and the love of others. 00:51:08.13\00:51:11.30 Amen. Amen, 00:51:11.33\00:51:12.67 Well said. 00:51:12.70\00:51:14.04 Anything, Shelley, you want to... 00:51:14.07\00:51:15.54 Go ahead. 00:51:15.57\00:51:16.91 I was just, I was thinking, you know, 00:51:16.97\00:51:18.31 when you look at the Word of God, Isaiah 14, 00:51:18.34\00:51:20.44 Ezekiel 28, we see Satan 00:51:20.48\00:51:22.01 and him saying the whole essence 00:51:22.04\00:51:24.15 of his kingdom itself in self-seeking. 00:51:24.18\00:51:26.78 But when we look at Christ, 00:51:26.82\00:51:28.42 His kingdom is built on self-sacrificing love, 00:51:28.45\00:51:32.69 and we see that exemplified here in this passage. 00:51:32.72\00:51:34.79 Amen, absolutely. 00:51:34.82\00:51:36.16 Thank God for that self-sacrificing love. 00:51:36.19\00:51:38.83 We are getting ready to take a short break. 00:51:38.86\00:51:41.36 We're going to show you how you can submit 00:51:41.40\00:51:43.00 your questions, we're going to check out 00:51:43.03\00:51:44.43 a little news break, and we will be right back. 00:51:44.47\00:51:48.00 So don't go anywhere.
