Amen. 00:04:31.47\00:04:32.80 Amen. Thank you so much, Shelley. 00:04:32.83\00:04:34.80 Excited to get into these questions. 00:04:34.84\00:04:36.87 We're going to start with you, Pastor John, 00:04:36.94\00:04:38.27 coming to you first. 00:04:38.31\00:04:39.64 Why is there so much racism in the Christian Church 00:04:39.67\00:04:43.14 when race is not even mentioned in the Bible, 00:04:43.18\00:04:45.51 only Jew and Gentile? 00:04:45.55\00:04:47.78 Well, race is mentioned in the Bible. 00:04:47.85\00:04:50.12 We have all the different nations 00:04:50.15\00:04:51.72 and I think the word nation 00:04:51.75\00:04:53.79 and race are synonymous to some degree. 00:04:53.82\00:04:58.09 When the Lord talked about, I think it's Isaiah, 00:04:58.13\00:05:00.63 sorry, Acts 17:26, 00:05:00.70\00:05:03.73 "From one blood came all nations of men." 00:05:03.80\00:05:07.17 And I always add to one blood, 00:05:07.20\00:05:09.44 all nations of men must go and that's the blood of Jesus. 00:05:09.47\00:05:13.14 And the other part about it is 00:05:13.17\00:05:15.51 somebody just said this recently, 00:05:15.54\00:05:16.88 I thought it was very insightful 00:05:16.91\00:05:18.25 because I was listening 00:05:18.28\00:05:19.61 to a conversation being held in a diner about race 00:05:19.65\00:05:23.39 and they were using a derogatory terminology 00:05:23.42\00:05:25.75 to refer to a particular race of people. 00:05:25.79\00:05:28.52 But what they fail to realize is we live in a world 00:05:28.56\00:05:31.79 where so much has been distorted 00:05:31.83\00:05:35.23 based on preferential treatment, 00:05:35.26\00:05:37.20 one race above another, 00:05:37.27\00:05:38.77 but that is not what God ever intended. 00:05:38.80\00:05:41.17 You find an early example of Moses, 00:05:41.24\00:05:44.41 the wife of Moses, an Ethiopian woman 00:05:44.44\00:05:46.57 and Miriam distracted the issue. 00:05:46.61\00:05:49.54 They were upset that God spoke to Moses 00:05:49.58\00:05:52.21 and not to them on a particular occasion, 00:05:52.25\00:05:54.42 but they distracted him by saying, 00:05:54.45\00:05:55.78 "We don't like the fact that 00:05:55.82\00:05:57.15 you married an Ethiopian woman." 00:05:57.19\00:05:58.52 Then you also find the Jews 00:05:58.55\00:06:01.02 always referred to the Gentiles as dogs. 00:06:01.06\00:06:04.06 And then the Lord had to work with Peter in Acts 00:06:04.09\00:06:06.23 Chapter 10 by saying, 00:06:06.26\00:06:07.83 "Never call any man common or unclean." 00:06:07.86\00:06:11.40 But the issue is not so much the races themselves, 00:06:11.43\00:06:14.67 but the human heart, 00:06:14.70\00:06:16.17 and all issues come down to the human heart. 00:06:16.20\00:06:18.11 Jeremiah 17:29, "The heart is deceitful above all things 00:06:18.14\00:06:22.01 and desperately wicked who can know it." 00:06:22.04\00:06:24.45 Now, undoubtedly contributing factors in history 00:06:24.48\00:06:26.65 has also added fire or fuel to the fire. 00:06:26.68\00:06:30.32 When you've had people such as Charles Darwin, 00:06:30.35\00:06:34.16 who he did wrote a book about a certain race 00:06:34.19\00:06:38.09 of people being one-third of a man, 00:06:38.13\00:06:40.03 or then also one-eighth of a man. 00:06:40.06\00:06:42.53 If you have blood 00:06:42.56\00:06:44.23 from certain parts of the world, 00:06:44.27\00:06:45.60 then you are one-eighth of a human 00:06:45.63\00:06:47.44 or one-eighth of a man. 00:06:47.50\00:06:48.84 But the issue really 00:06:48.87\00:06:50.21 is the sinful heart of humanity. 00:06:50.24\00:06:51.94 But here's what John says in 1 John 3:14, 00:06:51.97\00:06:55.41 where race no longer becomes an issue. 00:06:55.44\00:06:57.91 "We know that we have passed from death to life, 00:06:57.95\00:07:02.28 because we love the brethren. 00:07:02.32\00:07:04.72 He who does not love his brother abides in death." 00:07:04.79\00:07:07.26 And let me add one more thing. 00:07:07.29\00:07:09.09 Never say to somebody, I don't see your color. 00:07:09.12\00:07:12.03 Say I see your color 00:07:12.06\00:07:13.63 and I appreciate who you are in Christ. 00:07:13.66\00:07:16.00 We should minimize races, but we should not think 00:07:16.03\00:07:18.67 of race as one above another when we are Christians. 00:07:18.70\00:07:21.20 Amen. 00:07:21.24\00:07:22.57 We're called to love each other. 00:07:22.60\00:07:23.97 I love that, it's beautiful. Yeah. 00:07:24.01\00:07:25.34 Diversity is what God has made the world to be. 00:07:25.37\00:07:26.71 That's right. Shelley, we're coming to you. 00:07:26.74\00:07:28.28 This is Matthew 11:28-30, says, 00:07:28.31\00:07:31.41 "My yoke is easy and my burden is light." 00:07:31.45\00:07:33.92 What is the yoke or burden that we are to carry? 00:07:33.98\00:07:36.85 This is from Carol, from London. 00:07:36.89\00:07:39.29 Carol, great question. 00:07:39.32\00:07:40.72 Let me read Matthew 11:28-30, 00:07:40.76\00:07:43.26 which is Christ's great invitation. 00:07:43.29\00:07:46.76 "Come to Me, all you who labor and are heavy laden, 00:07:46.80\00:07:49.83 and I will give you rest. 00:07:49.86\00:07:51.20 Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me, 00:07:51.23\00:07:53.97 for I am gentle and lowly in heart, 00:07:54.00\00:07:56.40 you will find rest for your souls. 00:07:56.44\00:07:59.37 For My yoke is easy and My burden is light." 00:07:59.41\00:08:02.41 Yoke was a common metaphor in Judaism for the burdens 00:08:02.44\00:08:07.15 and teachings of the Pharisees. 00:08:07.18\00:08:10.52 The rabbinical teachings were so oppressive. 00:08:10.55\00:08:13.69 And they added so many restrictions 00:08:13.72\00:08:17.06 and duties to the life 00:08:17.09\00:08:19.93 of a believer to the covenant keeping people. 00:08:19.96\00:08:23.40 And it became the heavy works oriented type of salvation. 00:08:23.43\00:08:28.80 Paul speaks about salvation by works 00:08:28.84\00:08:32.71 as a yoke of bondage. 00:08:32.74\00:08:35.14 But now Christ, I believe 00:08:35.18\00:08:36.88 is not only speaking to the idea 00:08:36.91\00:08:41.15 that He will provide eternal life 00:08:41.18\00:08:43.62 through grace as a gift, 00:08:43.65\00:08:45.45 but he is also speaking just to the sin problem, 00:08:45.49\00:08:49.36 I think, and the burdens that we have to bear 00:08:49.39\00:08:53.36 in this sin-sick world. 00:08:53.40\00:08:55.13 You know, some people don't want to be yoked. 00:08:55.16\00:08:58.27 They don't like that idea. 00:08:58.30\00:08:59.80 I've been, they feel like they're being tied in, 00:08:59.83\00:09:02.44 but the Bible tells us you're either yoked to Satan 00:09:02.47\00:09:05.31 or you're yoked to Christ. 00:09:05.34\00:09:06.68 Romans 6:16, 00:09:06.71\00:09:08.51 "Do you not know that to whom you present yourselves to obey, 00:09:08.54\00:09:14.08 you are that one's slaves whom you obey, 00:09:14.15\00:09:17.95 whether of sin leading to death, 00:09:18.02\00:09:20.19 or of obedience leading to righteousness?" 00:09:20.22\00:09:23.43 So Satan's yoke he, it's a splintery heavy yoking, 00:09:23.46\00:09:27.60 drags you around, but Jesus promises, 00:09:27.66\00:09:30.57 I will carry the load for you. 00:09:30.60\00:09:33.07 So His yoke is easy. 00:09:33.10\00:09:36.14 Amen. I love that. Thank you. 00:09:36.17\00:09:38.47 Pastor Johnny, we're coming to you. 00:09:38.51\00:09:40.01 This is the opposite of it being easy. 00:09:40.04\00:09:43.88 What is the difference between sin, 00:09:43.95\00:09:46.18 iniquity and transgressions? 00:09:46.21\00:09:49.55 The Bible says that God forgives all three. 00:09:49.58\00:09:52.45 This comes from Fran. 00:09:52.49\00:09:54.56 Thank you very much. 00:09:54.59\00:09:55.92 Yes, there is a scripture that speaks, 00:09:55.96\00:09:58.83 has those three terms in there and is Exodus 34:7. 00:09:58.86\00:10:03.43 I will share about that in a moment, 00:10:03.47\00:10:04.83 but first let's take a quick look at the word sin, 00:10:04.87\00:10:07.60 the word sin. 00:10:07.64\00:10:08.97 You can find a definition for sin in 1 John 3:4, 00:10:09.00\00:10:13.01 "Whoever commits sin 00:10:13.04\00:10:15.81 transgresses or commits lawlessness 00:10:15.84\00:10:18.71 and sin is lawlessness." 00:10:18.75\00:10:21.22 So that's what sin is defined like in the Bible. 00:10:21.28\00:10:23.39 Iniquity, looking at dictionaries, 00:10:23.42\00:10:25.72 you can find that 00:10:25.75\00:10:27.09 the word iniquity is perversity, 00:10:27.12\00:10:28.46 that is immoral, evil, mischief, 00:10:28.49\00:10:31.19 and actually in the Hebrew pictograph, 00:10:31.23\00:10:34.46 you know what iniquity is like. 00:10:34.46\00:10:37.13 It is as a twisted rope. 00:10:37.20\00:10:40.20 And that's the picture 00:10:40.24\00:10:41.57 that is with the Hebrew letters. 00:10:41.60\00:10:44.87 And transgression is defined as rebellion. 00:10:44.91\00:10:48.51 Now, all these things can be a state of sin. 00:10:48.54\00:10:52.25 In Exodus 34:7, 00:10:52.28\00:10:54.55 beautiful scripture, notice, concerning God. 00:10:54.58\00:10:57.62 He declares, keeping mercy for thousands, 00:10:57.65\00:11:00.59 forgiving iniquity and transgression 00:11:00.66\00:11:04.49 and sin by no means clearing the guilty, 00:11:04.53\00:11:08.06 visiting the iniquity of the fathers 00:11:08.13\00:11:09.83 upon the children and the children's children 00:11:09.86\00:11:11.60 to the third and the fourth generation." 00:11:11.63\00:11:14.20 So let's take a look now with some 00:11:14.27\00:11:16.04 of the definitions to help us out. 00:11:16.07\00:11:18.84 Keeping mercy for thousands, 00:11:18.87\00:11:20.31 forgiving iniquity that is perversity, 00:11:20.34\00:11:22.48 depravity and transgression, 00:11:22.51\00:11:24.88 that means rebellion and sin is sin or sinful condition. 00:11:24.91\00:11:29.32 And God is able and willing to forgive us 00:11:29.35\00:11:33.05 for all those things. 00:11:33.09\00:11:35.49 Notice what it says in Titus 2:14, 00:11:35.52\00:11:39.03 concerning Jesus who gave Himself for us, 00:11:39.06\00:11:41.40 that He might redeem us from all iniquity 00:11:41.43\00:11:44.87 and purify unto Himself a peculiar people, 00:11:44.90\00:11:47.94 zealous of good works. 00:11:47.97\00:11:49.74 And Jesus came to this world to take away our sin, 00:11:49.77\00:11:55.08 the desire for sin and the condition of sin. 00:11:55.11\00:11:57.78 Praise be to His name. 00:11:57.85\00:11:59.18 Amen. Amen. 00:11:59.21\00:12:00.62 Thank you so much for that. 00:12:00.65\00:12:02.05 That gives us hope too. Praise the Lord. 00:12:02.08\00:12:04.12 We're coming back to you, Shelley. 00:12:04.15\00:12:05.49 Okay. 00:12:05.52\00:12:06.86 In John 3:8, Jesus and Nicodemus 00:12:06.89\00:12:08.46 discussed the wind blows where it pleases. 00:12:08.49\00:12:10.53 You hear the sound, but you cannot tell 00:12:10.56\00:12:12.23 where it comes from or where it is going. 00:12:12.26\00:12:14.30 So is everyone who is born of the spirit. 00:12:14.36\00:12:17.67 And my understanding there is saying 00:12:17.70\00:12:19.20 that you cannot really tell 00:12:19.23\00:12:20.60 when you will be born of the spirit, 00:12:20.64\00:12:22.44 even if you decided to follow Jesus 00:12:22.47\00:12:24.24 and get baptized. 00:12:24.31\00:12:25.64 Does this explain why there are people 00:12:25.67\00:12:27.31 who would go astray after some time 00:12:27.38\00:12:29.98 because they are not born of the spirit. 00:12:30.01\00:12:32.38 This comes from Mardem in the Philippines. 00:12:32.41\00:12:34.75 Mardem, this is interesting. 00:12:34.82\00:12:36.28 In John 3:8, 00:12:36.32\00:12:37.69 we've, you've already quoted the verse in the question, 00:12:37.72\00:12:40.12 but wind and spirit are the same word 00:12:40.16\00:12:43.09 in the Greek there pneuma, 00:12:43.12\00:12:44.93 and it can be translated spirit, 00:12:44.96\00:12:47.23 wind or breath. 00:12:47.23\00:12:49.00 The analogy is that the winds origin is invisible 00:12:49.03\00:12:53.70 and it cannot be controlled by man. 00:12:53.74\00:12:56.71 The wind cannot be seen or explained, 00:12:56.74\00:12:59.14 but we only see the effects of the wind. 00:12:59.17\00:13:03.51 So it is with the invisible presence of the Holy Spirit. 00:13:03.55\00:13:07.02 When we can't control the spirit, 00:13:07.05\00:13:10.42 but when we open our heart to allow the spirit 00:13:10.45\00:13:13.25 to come in, there is unmistakable evidence 00:13:13.29\00:13:16.49 of His presence, and the results are observed 00:13:16.52\00:13:21.16 when it's a spirit, 00:13:21.20\00:13:22.53 generated spirit empowered life. 00:13:22.56\00:13:25.40 Now Peter said in Acts 2:38-39, 00:13:25.43\00:13:29.44 because he want to speak of receiving the spirit. 00:13:29.47\00:13:33.01 He sang to the Pentecost crowd, 00:13:33.04\00:13:35.08 repent and let every one of you 00:13:35.11\00:13:36.51 be baptized in the name of Jesus 00:13:36.54\00:13:38.68 for the remission of sins, and you shall receive the gift 00:13:38.71\00:13:43.59 of the Holy Spirit for the promises to you 00:13:43.62\00:13:46.72 and to your children, to all who are far off 00:13:46.76\00:13:49.82 as many as our Lord will call. 00:13:49.86\00:13:53.60 It is confession and genuine repentance 00:13:53.63\00:13:57.73 that brings forgiveness and the cleansing of sin 00:13:57.80\00:14:01.64 according to 1 John 1:9. 00:14:01.70\00:14:03.61 So we receive the Holy Spirit 00:14:03.64\00:14:07.84 when we and we're born again, 00:14:07.88\00:14:11.61 when we ask the Lord to become our savior. 00:14:11.65\00:14:16.25 Now, baptism is symbolic 00:14:16.28\00:14:19.59 of what has happened to us internally, 00:14:19.62\00:14:23.73 baptism is an external and it is an act of obedience. 00:14:23.76\00:14:28.36 I mean, it is a very important one. 00:14:28.43\00:14:31.00 Here's how I explain what you ask about people 00:14:31.03\00:14:34.87 who go astray. 00:14:34.90\00:14:36.87 The Bible says, we can sin against the spirit 00:14:36.91\00:14:40.68 by grieving him. 00:14:40.71\00:14:42.24 Ephesians 4: 30, resisting him, 00:14:42.28\00:14:44.78 Acts 7:51, 00:14:44.81\00:14:46.38 or even quenching the Holy Spirit, 00:14:46.41\00:14:48.62 1 Thessalonians 5:19, 00:14:48.65\00:14:51.12 and then Hebrews 10:29 00:14:51.15\00:14:53.05 talks about insulting the spirit of grace. 00:14:53.09\00:14:56.89 Can a born again person go astray? 00:14:56.93\00:14:59.79 Listen to what Peter says. 2 Peter 2:20. 00:14:59.83\00:15:03.53 2 Peter 2:20-22, 00:15:03.57\00:15:05.10 "If after they have escaped the pollution 00:15:05.13\00:15:08.80 of the world through the knowledge 00:15:08.84\00:15:10.17 of the Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, 00:15:10.21\00:15:12.14 they are again entangled in them and overcome, 00:15:12.17\00:15:14.84 the latter end is worse than the beginning. 00:15:14.91\00:15:18.01 For it would have been better for them not to know 00:15:18.08\00:15:19.91 the way of righteousness than to turn from 00:15:19.95\00:15:22.22 the holy commandment delivered to them." 00:15:22.25\00:15:24.82 He repaired, he compares it 00:15:24.85\00:15:26.62 to a dog returning to his vomit. 00:15:26.65\00:15:30.56 So Jesus said that in John 15:6, 00:15:30.59\00:15:34.60 you must abide in Me. 00:15:34.63\00:15:37.17 And He tells us to pray daily for the Holy Spirit 00:15:37.20\00:15:40.80 in Luke 11:9-13. 00:15:40.84\00:15:42.94 Amen. Thank you, Shelley. 00:15:42.97\00:15:44.91 Pastor John, what is the faith of Jesus? 00:15:44.94\00:15:50.81 I love that question because the faith of Jesus 00:15:50.85\00:15:53.35 is a faith we all need. 00:15:53.38\00:15:55.02 Matter of fact, there's a sermon 00:15:55.05\00:15:56.38 called the faith of Jesus 00:15:56.42\00:15:58.49 and also the patience of the saints. 00:15:58.52\00:16:01.66 And we find that in Revelation 12 and verse... 00:16:01.72\00:16:05.06 Revelation 14:12, I'll go and read that. 00:16:05.09\00:16:08.30 It says, " Here is the patience of the saints, 00:16:08.33\00:16:12.23 here are those who keep the commandments of God 00:16:12.27\00:16:15.50 and the faith of Jesus." 00:16:15.54\00:16:17.27 Now, not only are they keeping the commandments of God, 00:16:17.31\00:16:19.64 but they have something else. 00:16:19.67\00:16:21.21 They have the faith of Jesus. 00:16:21.28\00:16:22.81 Now, when you look about the faith of Jesus, 00:16:22.84\00:16:24.45 I believe that Revelation 3:18 00:16:24.48\00:16:26.82 identifies and describes and reveals to us 00:16:26.85\00:16:29.25 what the faith of Jesus is, because when you think 00:16:29.28\00:16:31.79 about what Jesus went through, 00:16:31.82\00:16:33.42 what kind of faith did He have? 00:16:33.46\00:16:35.49 The faith that Jesus had did not allow Him to fold 00:16:35.52\00:16:40.20 under pressure. 00:16:40.23\00:16:41.56 The faith that Jesus had did not allow Him to fail 00:16:41.60\00:16:45.57 under persecution. 00:16:45.60\00:16:46.94 The faith that Jesus had did not allow Him to deny 00:16:46.97\00:16:49.87 His Father when it came to persecution. 00:16:49.90\00:16:52.64 That's the kind of faith I want to have. 00:16:52.67\00:16:54.88 And that faith of Jesus is revealed 00:16:54.94\00:16:57.58 I believe in Revelation 3:18. 00:16:57.61\00:16:59.75 And that's why he describes and recommends to us 00:16:59.78\00:17:02.45 the kind of faith that will be able to sustain us. 00:17:02.48\00:17:05.82 He says in Revelation 3:18, 00:17:05.85\00:17:08.46 "I counsel you to buy from Me gold refined in the fire." 00:17:08.49\00:17:13.76 Was Jesus refined? 00:17:13.80\00:17:15.30 He sure was. 00:17:15.36\00:17:16.70 Not that he was sinful before that, 00:17:16.73\00:17:18.53 but I tell you, He was refined from the possibilities 00:17:18.57\00:17:22.34 of failure as a human to no possibility 00:17:22.37\00:17:25.81 as the glorified Almighty God 00:17:25.84\00:17:27.84 on the other side of the resurrection. 00:17:27.88\00:17:29.94 "Refined in the fire, that you may be rich, 00:17:29.98\00:17:33.52 and white raiment that 00:17:33.55\00:17:34.88 you may be clothed that the shame 00:17:34.92\00:17:36.38 of your nakedness may not be revealed 00:17:36.42\00:17:38.85 and anoint your eyes 00:17:38.89\00:17:40.22 with eye salve that you may see." 00:17:40.26\00:17:42.02 And Paul to the protege Timothy describes in 1 Timothy 3:13, 00:17:42.06\00:17:46.93 "For those who have served 00:17:46.96\00:17:48.26 well as deacons obtain for themselves 00:17:48.33\00:17:49.66 a good standing and great boldness in the faith 00:17:49.70\00:17:54.80 which is in Christ Jesus." 00:17:54.87\00:17:56.54 So this is a bold faith, a tried faith, 00:17:56.57\00:17:59.07 a sure faith, a reliable faith. 00:17:59.11\00:18:01.28 And to me, I believe that's what the faith 00:18:01.31\00:18:02.71 of Jesus is a faith that will not fail though severely tried. 00:18:02.74\00:18:06.55 Amen. 00:18:06.58\00:18:07.92 Give me the faith of Jesus. That's what I need. 00:18:07.98\00:18:09.35 I love that. Amen. 00:18:09.38\00:18:10.72 I want to remind you. 00:18:10.75\00:18:12.09 You can send us your questions and we would love to answer 00:18:12.15\00:18:14.16 your question on an upcoming 3ABN Today Bible Q and A. 00:18:14.19\00:18:18.39 You can text them to (618) 228-3975. 00:18:18.43\00:18:23.26 That number again is (618) 228-3975 00:18:23.30\00:18:27.24 or you can email your questions 00:18:27.27\00:18:29.44 at BibleQA@3abn.tv 00:18:29.47\00:18:33.64 That address again is BibleQA@3abn.tv 00:18:33.68\00:18:37.88 or 3ABN is on Instagram. 00:18:37.91\00:18:39.55 And you just go to 3ABN_official, 00:18:39.58\00:18:43.39 and you can send us your question that way. 00:18:43.42\00:18:45.25 So we'd love to answer your question on an upcoming 00:18:45.32\00:18:48.59 Bible Q and A. 00:18:48.62\00:18:49.96 Pastor Johnny, we're coming to you. 00:18:49.99\00:18:51.59 Does the Bible talk about the story of Horus 00:18:51.66\00:18:53.83 and Isis being an immaculate conception 00:18:53.86\00:18:57.40 and having a similar story to Jesus? 00:18:57.43\00:18:59.83 I've never heard of them or the story. 00:18:59.87\00:19:02.17 It doesn't say who it comes from. 00:19:02.20\00:19:04.41 Well, apparently he heard something. 00:19:04.44\00:19:08.41 That's a good point. 00:19:08.44\00:19:09.78 The Bible does not say anything about Horus 00:19:09.81\00:19:12.95 and Isis and an immaculate conception as to having 00:19:12.98\00:19:17.35 any similar similarity to the story of Jesus. 00:19:17.39\00:19:19.92 That's right. 00:19:19.95\00:19:21.29 I took a quick look at this and I could tell you 00:19:21.32\00:19:23.16 that is really a complete waste 00:19:23.19\00:19:25.96 of time to try to find similarities there. 00:19:25.99\00:19:28.60 The Egyptians had many gods. 00:19:28.63\00:19:30.87 Horus happens to be one of the... 00:19:30.90\00:19:33.00 I don't know if you want to call them 00:19:33.03\00:19:34.37 popular or most well-known, 00:19:34.40\00:19:36.94 but even the pharaohs wanted to take on that name, 00:19:36.97\00:19:40.01 but let's put that aside 00:19:40.04\00:19:41.81 and focus on Jesus because really it's a waste 00:19:41.88\00:19:44.15 of time to look into these things. 00:19:44.18\00:19:45.51 I want to point to you 00:19:45.55\00:19:46.88 a scripture that must be set in this context. 00:19:46.92\00:19:51.02 Isaiah 43:10, " 00:19:51.05\00:19:53.89 You are My witnesses,' says the Lord, 00:19:53.92\00:19:56.16 'And My servant whom I have chosen, 00:19:56.19\00:19:57.93 that you may know and believe Me, 00:19:57.96\00:19:59.89 and understand that I am He. 00:19:59.93\00:20:01.30 Before Me there was no God formed, 00:20:01.36\00:20:04.67 nor shall there be after Me.'" 00:20:04.73\00:20:08.00 All these so-called gods are not gods. 00:20:08.04\00:20:10.71 They're imaginations of people, created by people. 00:20:10.74\00:20:14.78 They're either made out of stone, 00:20:14.84\00:20:17.01 wood or some material that God the Creator has made. 00:20:17.05\00:20:20.35 And they're trying... 00:20:20.38\00:20:21.72 This is a distraction of the devil. 00:20:21.78\00:20:23.35 So let's focus on Jesus because Acts 4:12 says, 00:20:23.39\00:20:27.59 "Nor is there salvation in any other, 00:20:27.62\00:20:30.33 in Jesus, for there is no other name 00:20:30.36\00:20:32.19 under heaven given among men by which we must be saved." 00:20:32.23\00:20:37.60 We must keep in mind that Satan is looking to distract us 00:20:37.63\00:20:41.47 and lead us astray. 00:20:41.50\00:20:42.84 Matthew 24:24, 00:20:42.87\00:20:44.64 "For false christs and false prophets will rise 00:20:44.67\00:20:47.91 and show great signs and wonders to deceive, 00:20:47.94\00:20:51.05 if possible, even the elect." 00:20:51.08\00:20:53.28 Jesus said, see, in verse 25, "I have told you beforehand." 00:20:53.31\00:20:58.05 So please forget about Horus 00:20:58.12\00:21:00.46 and all those other so-called gods and consider Jesus. 00:21:00.49\00:21:04.23 He is the author and the finisher of our faith, 00:21:04.26\00:21:06.66 and Jesus loves you and is coming soon. 00:21:06.70\00:21:09.00 That's the end of that story. Amen. 00:21:09.03\00:21:11.07 Good. Thank you, Pastor Johnny. 00:21:11.10\00:21:12.47 I like that. 00:21:12.50\00:21:13.84 It's so important to study the Word of God 00:21:13.87\00:21:15.50 and to know what it says. 00:21:15.54\00:21:17.34 Pastor John, we're coming back to you. 00:21:17.37\00:21:19.27 What three nights did Jesus sleep in the tomb? 00:21:19.31\00:21:23.41 Because we know three days and three nights, 00:21:23.45\00:21:25.18 but what three nights was He in the tomb? 00:21:25.21\00:21:26.75 Okay, the first thing we have to establish 00:21:26.78\00:21:28.18 is how the Bible kept time. 00:21:28.25\00:21:29.88 The problem today is we have this thing called a watch 00:21:29.92\00:21:32.25 or phones or dials on the wall quite different 00:21:32.29\00:21:35.86 than the way the Bible kept time. 00:21:35.89\00:21:37.23 Genesis 1:5 and all throughout the creative process, 00:21:37.26\00:21:40.03 you find the phrase the evening 00:21:40.06\00:21:42.43 and the morning were the first day. 00:21:42.46\00:21:45.47 When you look at the way that the Bible quantifies time, 00:21:45.50\00:21:50.41 it's a phrase called inclusive reckoning. 00:21:50.44\00:21:53.04 And you could find that 00:21:53.07\00:21:54.41 when you study the Jewish literature, 00:21:54.44\00:21:55.84 inclusive reckoning, then that meant 00:21:55.88\00:21:58.48 any part of the day included the whole day. 00:21:58.55\00:22:02.52 And you find that talked about in the writings of Christ. 00:22:02.55\00:22:05.35 He said, for example, if we say, 00:22:05.42\00:22:07.02 meet me in three days, we will say, okay, today, 00:22:07.06\00:22:09.49 whatever today is, will start counting tomorrow 00:22:09.52\00:22:11.23 the next day and the next day. 00:22:11.26\00:22:12.69 In the Bible three days meant today, 00:22:12.73\00:22:14.50 tomorrow and the next day. 00:22:14.56\00:22:16.26 So when Jesus was crucified, 00:22:16.30\00:22:18.37 you didn't have to start tomorrow Saturday, Sunday, 00:22:18.40\00:22:21.37 Monday, you start that day, Friday, Saturday, Sunday. 00:22:21.44\00:22:25.84 And so the preparation day 00:22:25.87\00:22:27.21 when Jesus was placed in the tomb, the time started. 00:22:27.24\00:22:30.78 Let's go to Luke Chapter 23, 00:22:30.81\00:22:32.78 and I'm gonna start with talking about these 00:22:32.81\00:22:35.82 three particular times. 00:22:35.85\00:22:37.19 Luke 23:54, 00:22:37.22\00:22:38.89 speaking about when Jesus was wrapped and laid in the tomb. 00:22:38.92\00:22:42.16 It says in Luke 23:54, "That day was the Preparation, 00:22:42.19\00:22:45.43 and the Sabbath drew near. 00:22:45.46\00:22:47.30 And the women who had come 00:22:47.36\00:22:48.70 with Him from Galilee followed after, 00:22:48.76\00:22:50.90 and they observed the tomb and how His body was laid. 00:22:50.93\00:22:54.80 They returned and prepared spices 00:22:54.84\00:22:56.64 and fragrant oils. 00:22:56.67\00:22:58.01 And they rested on the Sabbath according to the commandment." 00:22:58.07\00:23:01.01 Then Luke 23:52, I mean, Luke 24, Luke. 00:23:01.04\00:23:05.45 Yeah, Luke 23:52-56. 00:23:05.48\00:23:08.62 I just pointed out, 00:23:08.65\00:23:09.98 they returned and prepared spices. 00:23:10.02\00:23:11.52 And when you look at Luke 24:1, 00:23:11.59\00:23:13.59 "They went on the first day of the week, 00:23:13.62\00:23:15.69 searching for the body of Christ 00:23:15.72\00:23:17.23 and they found none." 00:23:17.26\00:23:18.63 Now here's something an exercise 00:23:18.66\00:23:20.00 I would encourage you to do. 00:23:20.03\00:23:21.36 If you put the phrase third day, 00:23:21.40\00:23:25.47 you find that Jesus said, "I would rise the third day." 00:23:25.53\00:23:30.14 The only one that said He wouldn't rise the third day 00:23:30.17\00:23:32.41 was those who were His accusers. 00:23:32.44\00:23:34.78 His accusers said after three days I will rise. 00:23:34.84\00:23:38.65 Jesus never said that. 00:23:38.71\00:23:40.12 He said, "I would rise the third day." 00:23:40.15\00:23:41.58 And even Paul the Apostle recalling the resurrection 00:23:41.62\00:23:44.52 of Jesus in 1 Corinthians, he said, 00:23:44.55\00:23:46.39 "He rose the third day." 00:23:46.42\00:23:48.96 Now here's what many people stumble over. 00:23:49.02\00:23:51.33 If Jesus had to be in the grave for 72 hours 00:23:51.39\00:23:55.03 before He came out, 00:23:55.06\00:23:56.46 one second past 72 hours would mean 00:23:56.50\00:24:00.24 Jesus rose on the fourth day. 00:24:00.27\00:24:02.47 But He rose on the third day according to Bible prophecy. 00:24:02.50\00:24:05.84 And this was the context where people, 00:24:05.87\00:24:08.04 I think the worldwide church of God 00:24:08.08\00:24:09.91 had Garner Ted Armstrong, Herbert Armstrong. 00:24:09.94\00:24:12.45 This was a very large, a focal point of them. 00:24:12.48\00:24:15.08 But Jesus rose the third day, as He said, He would. 00:24:15.12\00:24:19.19 Not after the third day, in three days, 00:24:19.22\00:24:22.12 I will rise again, and Jesus did. 00:24:22.16\00:24:24.23 So inclusive reckoning is the term 00:24:24.26\00:24:26.73 I use to show you that any part of the day, 00:24:26.76\00:24:28.93 the Jews included the entire day. 00:24:28.96\00:24:32.30 Very good. I love that. Thank you. 00:24:32.33\00:24:34.54 Shelley, we're coming back to you. 00:24:34.57\00:24:35.90 This is, do Seventh-day Adventists believe 00:24:35.94\00:24:38.34 the Arian belief regarding God 00:24:38.37\00:24:40.61 and Jesus as Jesus did not exist always, 00:24:40.64\00:24:43.58 but came into existence the begotten Son. 00:24:43.61\00:24:46.38 This whole idea is new to me 00:24:46.41\00:24:48.48 and I haven't heard it before in our teachings. 00:24:48.55\00:24:51.92 I saw on Wikipedia's definition of our belief 00:24:51.95\00:24:54.32 that we believe the Arian theology. 00:24:54.36\00:24:56.19 Can you help me understand this please? 00:24:56.22\00:24:59.06 Watch out for Wikipedia 00:24:59.09\00:25:00.73 because it has so much err, right? 00:25:00.76\00:25:02.83 JD was looking on Wikipedia 00:25:02.86\00:25:04.27 and it said the seventh day is Sunday. 00:25:04.30\00:25:05.93 So that shows you. 00:25:05.97\00:25:07.57 Our pioneers came from many different denominations. 00:25:07.60\00:25:11.24 And yes, there were some 00:25:11.27\00:25:13.48 who in the beginning of this movement 00:25:13.51\00:25:15.71 came from Arian beliefs. 00:25:15.74\00:25:17.78 But what I love about our church 00:25:17.81\00:25:20.12 is that they studied together 00:25:20.15\00:25:22.45 in a progressive way to learn truth. 00:25:22.48\00:25:26.62 And they, the official, 00:25:26.65\00:25:28.92 they released that spiritual err. 00:25:28.99\00:25:30.93 The official teaching of the church 00:25:30.96\00:25:32.53 is in our 28 fundamentals. 00:25:32.56\00:25:34.73 And it says that in the fourth, 00:25:34.76\00:25:38.17 I'll just read an excerpt. 00:25:38.20\00:25:39.87 It says, God, the eternal Son 00:25:39.90\00:25:41.44 became the incarnate in Jesus Christ. 00:25:41.47\00:25:45.41 Through Him all things were created, 00:25:45.44\00:25:48.21 for He was forever truly God. 00:25:48.28\00:25:51.58 He became also truly human. 00:25:51.65\00:25:54.62 I will admit recently there's been some small pockets 00:25:54.65\00:25:57.99 of Adventists who are reverting back 00:25:58.02\00:26:00.96 or gaining interest in some 00:26:00.99\00:26:04.26 of the original pioneers' teaching. 00:26:04.29\00:26:07.30 I think they don't understand covenant. 00:26:07.30\00:26:09.33 When we look at the word begotten, 00:26:09.36\00:26:11.70 it can have a literal meaning 00:26:11.77\00:26:13.40 or it can have a spiritual meaning. 00:26:13.44\00:26:16.20 Begotten is a covenant term, 00:26:16.24\00:26:18.94 that means chosen for a covenant purpose. 00:26:19.01\00:26:22.91 Paul said he begot the Corinthians. 00:26:22.94\00:26:24.81 He told, in Philemon he said that he begot Onesimus. 00:26:24.85\00:26:30.52 And Hebrews 11 tells how Abraham gave up 00:26:30.55\00:26:34.69 his only "begotten son." 00:26:34.72\00:26:38.19 He was the only heir of the promise. 00:26:38.23\00:26:40.63 But listen to this. 00:26:40.66\00:26:42.73 God the Father in Hebrews 1:8 says 00:26:42.76\00:26:45.83 to the one who became His Son, today, You become My Son. 00:26:45.87\00:26:51.41 He says, Your throne, O God, is forever and ever. 00:26:51.44\00:26:54.54 And in Hebrews 1:10, the Father further says 00:26:54.58\00:26:57.95 to the person of Jesus Christ who became His Son. 00:26:57.98\00:27:01.38 "You, Lord, in the beginning 00:27:01.42\00:27:03.49 laid the foundation of the earth 00:27:03.52\00:27:04.95 and the heavens are the works of your hands." 00:27:04.99\00:27:07.29 The Father Himself declares this Son is eternal God 00:27:07.32\00:27:11.49 Amen. 00:27:11.53\00:27:12.86 We need at least another five minutes on that. 00:27:12.89\00:27:15.66 Shelley is the queen of the covenants. 00:27:15.70\00:27:17.03 I love that. That's beautiful. 00:27:17.07\00:27:18.77 Pastor Johnny, in Judges 9:45, it says, 00:27:18.83\00:27:23.07 "Then he, Abimelech destroyed the city 00:27:23.10\00:27:25.87 and scattered salt over it." 00:27:25.91\00:27:27.98 Why salt? 00:27:28.01\00:27:29.34 What is the significance 00:27:29.38\00:27:30.71 of scattering salt over the destroyed city? 00:27:30.75\00:27:34.35 Thank you so much for that question. 00:27:34.38\00:27:36.25 It's very interesting. 00:27:36.28\00:27:37.89 This was an act, a symbolic act 00:27:37.92\00:27:40.89 because salt putting it over pasture 00:27:40.92\00:27:44.76 will kill the pasture. 00:27:44.79\00:27:46.26 That's how utterly, he wanted to bring 00:27:46.29\00:27:50.03 the message to them that I hope you never survive 00:27:50.07\00:27:53.70 and that you're completely destroyed. 00:27:53.74\00:27:55.60 And so, salt in small quantities 00:27:55.67\00:27:59.07 renders land extremely fertile, 00:27:59.14\00:28:01.34 but too much of it destroys vegetation. 00:28:01.38\00:28:04.58 And so, we have salt when it's found, 00:28:04.61\00:28:08.52 it says it produces nothing. 00:28:08.58\00:28:10.82 Hence the sowing of salt in place, 00:28:10.85\00:28:13.19 sowing a place with salt 00:28:13.22\00:28:14.56 was a custom in different nations 00:28:14.59\00:28:16.26 to express permanent desolation. 00:28:16.29\00:28:18.59 So, they will say definite message 00:28:18.63\00:28:20.53 that Abimelech wanted to bring to these people. 00:28:20.56\00:28:23.16 And these were practices among the people 00:28:23.20\00:28:25.83 that were done in those days 00:28:25.90\00:28:28.77 when they sacked the city or destroyed a city, 00:28:28.80\00:28:31.77 spread salt to let you know, 00:28:31.84\00:28:33.58 we think that you're completely destroyed and we, 00:28:33.61\00:28:36.31 you know, that you no longer need to exist. 00:28:36.34\00:28:39.41 However, to completely cover the city. 00:28:39.45\00:28:43.69 No, it says just scattered 00:28:43.72\00:28:45.42 to completely cover the city with salt 00:28:45.45\00:28:47.76 would be a great undertaking. 00:28:47.79\00:28:49.42 And it's just not practical. 00:28:49.46\00:28:51.53 The scattering of salt was just a symbolic act 00:28:51.56\00:28:54.56 to let them know that our intent 00:28:54.56\00:28:58.30 was to completely destroy you. 00:28:58.37\00:28:59.70 And we hope you never bounce back 00:28:59.73\00:29:01.37 from this destruction. 00:29:01.40\00:29:03.30 Amen. 00:29:03.34\00:29:04.67 I love the questions that we get. 00:29:04.71\00:29:06.04 You know, some are theological 00:29:06.07\00:29:08.14 and some are gospel truth and some are, 00:29:08.18\00:29:10.85 oh, wow, I never even thought about that passage 00:29:10.88\00:29:13.15 in the Word of God. 00:29:13.18\00:29:14.52 So, thank you for that. It is good. 00:29:14.55\00:29:16.38 Pastor John, Pastor Lomacang, 00:29:16.42\00:29:19.32 how many days are equal to a time in prophecy. 00:29:19.35\00:29:22.69 Geneva from Maryland. Sure. 00:29:22.72\00:29:25.03 Thank you, Geneva. 00:29:25.06\00:29:26.80 That's a good question because that question really 00:29:26.83\00:29:30.00 makes the difference between whether or not 00:29:30.03\00:29:31.73 we think of a prophecy as symbolic or literal. 00:29:31.77\00:29:35.24 And that's a very good question. 00:29:35.27\00:29:37.04 When we know that 00:29:37.07\00:29:38.41 we won't just arbitrarily start applying. 00:29:38.44\00:29:40.54 Well, the Lord says this amount of days, well, 00:29:40.58\00:29:42.98 let's go ahead and apply that prophetically. 00:29:43.01\00:29:44.81 The prophetic context 00:29:44.85\00:29:46.51 is so vitally important to understand 00:29:46.55\00:29:47.98 how it applies. 00:29:48.02\00:29:49.35 One of the most important ones we find in Daniel 7:25. 00:29:49.42\00:29:53.42 And I'll go ahead and read this for you. 00:29:53.46\00:29:54.99 Then I'll share with you the Aramaic word 00:29:55.02\00:29:56.66 and the Greek word 00:29:56.69\00:29:58.06 and the difference between the two. 00:29:58.09\00:29:59.79 And then we can come to the conclusion. 00:29:59.83\00:30:01.76 Daniel 7:25, the Bible says, 00:30:01.80\00:30:03.63 "He shall speak pompous words against the Most High, 00:30:03.67\00:30:07.24 shall persecute the saints of the Most High, 00:30:07.27\00:30:10.07 shall tend to change times and laws. 00:30:10.11\00:30:13.21 Then the saints shall be given into his hands 00:30:13.24\00:30:17.11 or into his hand for a time and times and half a time." 00:30:17.15\00:30:20.38 That comes from the Aramaic word, Edon, 00:30:20.42\00:30:23.32 meaning technically a year. 00:30:23.35\00:30:25.85 That's an Aramaic word. 00:30:25.89\00:30:27.49 Later on when you find 00:30:27.52\00:30:28.86 the same time talked about in Revelation, 00:30:28.92\00:30:30.63 the saints given it to saying time, 00:30:30.66\00:30:32.09 times and half the time persecuting them 00:30:32.13\00:30:33.66 for time, times and half the time, 00:30:33.70\00:30:35.53 the word there is Kiros or Kairos, 00:30:35.56\00:30:38.33 depending on which way you'd like to pronounce that. 00:30:38.40\00:30:40.57 And that was there's this quantitative time 00:30:40.60\00:30:43.77 and there's qualitative time. 00:30:43.81\00:30:45.87 Kronos is quantitative time in the Greek 00:30:45.94\00:30:48.34 and Kairos is qualitative time. 00:30:48.41\00:30:50.98 What's the difference between the two? 00:30:51.01\00:30:52.75 One is saying to us, the qualitative time 00:30:52.78\00:30:55.65 is for reaching a particular time in history. 00:30:55.68\00:30:58.85 Quantitative time says, this is how we can tell 00:30:58.92\00:31:01.86 what time of the day it is. 00:31:01.89\00:31:03.76 And adding that this is where we nail down the rule of 360. 00:31:03.79\00:31:09.26 Because the question after people have often asked, 00:31:09.33\00:31:11.77 well, is the Jewish year or the Greek year, 00:31:11.80\00:31:14.04 or the Aramaic year are different 00:31:14.07\00:31:15.77 from the 365-day year? 00:31:15.80\00:31:17.94 What ties it all together is in the Kronos, 00:31:17.97\00:31:20.24 the quantitative time. 00:31:20.28\00:31:22.51 They didn't have watches they had sun dials 00:31:22.54\00:31:25.01 and a time meant one rotation around that sundial, 00:31:25.05\00:31:29.18 which was 360 degrees. 00:31:29.25\00:31:31.25 Times was two rotations, 00:31:31.29\00:31:33.22 720 and half a time around was 180. 00:31:33.25\00:31:36.02 And when you add that up, you get 1260. 00:31:36.09\00:31:39.96 So, they use quantitative time in the Greek 00:31:40.00\00:31:43.83 to understand the 360-day period. 00:31:43.87\00:31:46.27 So that's why when you line it up that way, 00:31:46.30\00:31:48.74 you won't find any disparaging 00:31:48.77\00:31:51.44 between Daniel or Revelation. 00:31:51.47\00:31:55.31 They both are working with quantitative time, 00:31:55.38\00:31:57.71 not Jewish calendar, Greek calendar, 00:31:57.75\00:31:59.91 Aramaic calendar, and modern calendar. 00:31:59.95\00:32:02.95 That's powerful. That's good. 00:32:02.98\00:32:04.52 Excellent. 00:32:04.55\00:32:05.92 I'm just sitting here thinking I'm grateful 00:32:05.95\00:32:07.29 that this program will be on YouTube 00:32:07.32\00:32:08.82 and it's also on 3ABNplus.tv 00:32:08.89\00:32:11.76 So, you might say, I want to watch that again. 00:32:11.79\00:32:13.66 I got to take notes. 00:32:13.70\00:32:15.00 I got to figure out the difference between 00:32:15.03\00:32:16.36 quantitative and qualitative. 00:32:16.40\00:32:17.73 You can watch it as many times as you like, 00:32:17.77\00:32:19.80 and you can share it with your friends. 00:32:19.83\00:32:21.94 Pastor Johnny, 00:32:21.97\00:32:24.21 God cannot be in the presence of sin. 00:32:24.24\00:32:27.21 So how does Satan still have access to heaven 00:32:27.24\00:32:30.41 after he fell? 00:32:30.45\00:32:31.78 This is from Merlin. Okay. 00:32:31.81\00:32:34.58 That's a good question. 00:32:34.62\00:32:36.35 The Bible seems to present the possibility that Satan 00:32:36.38\00:32:39.22 was in the presence of God. 00:32:39.29\00:32:41.42 When you go to Job Chapter 1 and Job Chapter 2. 00:32:41.46\00:32:44.49 Now, how is that possible? 00:32:44.53\00:32:46.90 You are correct. 00:32:46.93\00:32:48.56 It may be that God veiled His presence 00:32:48.60\00:32:51.80 so that Satan could exist because there was a great 00:32:51.83\00:32:55.44 controversy between good and evil 00:32:55.50\00:32:58.04 that needed to play out for God to reveal the fallacy 00:32:58.07\00:33:03.88 and the destructive nature of sin. 00:33:03.91\00:33:06.98 Now concerning the devil or Satan 00:33:07.02\00:33:10.19 having access to heaven. 00:33:10.22\00:33:12.09 Let's go to Revelation 12:10, 00:33:12.12\00:33:15.36 "Then I heard a loud voice saying in heaven, 00:33:15.39\00:33:18.29 'Now salvation, and strength, 00:33:18.33\00:33:21.33 and the kingdom of our God, 00:33:21.36\00:33:23.30 and the power of His Christ have come.'" 00:33:23.33\00:33:26.27 This is in the context of Jesus Christ 00:33:26.30\00:33:28.90 dying on the cross for us. 00:33:28.94\00:33:31.74 This is why a declaration is made. 00:33:31.77\00:33:33.94 You see before Jesus dies on the cross, 00:33:33.98\00:33:37.55 it was a promise of salvation 00:33:37.58\00:33:39.75 through the seed promise in Genesis Chapter 3, 00:33:39.78\00:33:43.62 that the seed of the woman would put the death blow 00:33:43.65\00:33:47.12 on the head of the serpent. 00:33:47.16\00:33:48.82 So when Jesus fulfills that promise, 00:33:48.86\00:33:51.09 salvation is secured and it is not, 00:33:51.13\00:33:55.26 no longer a promise, it is a guarantee, 00:33:55.33\00:33:59.00 let's say, because Jesus died on the cross 00:33:59.03\00:34:01.20 and paid for our sins and secured our salvation. 00:34:01.24\00:34:05.57 So now this declaration, let's go back to it. 00:34:05.61\00:34:07.54 "Then I heard a loud voice saying in heaven, 00:34:07.58\00:34:09.28 'Now salvation, and strength, and the kingdom of our God, 00:34:09.34\00:34:13.62 and the power of His Christ have come, 00:34:13.65\00:34:16.72 for the accuser of our brethren, 00:34:16.75\00:34:18.79 who accused them before our God day and night, 00:34:18.85\00:34:21.72 has been cast down." 00:34:21.76\00:34:24.39 So, prior to this, apparently 00:34:24.43\00:34:27.40 Satan having defeated Adam and Eve, they sinned. 00:34:27.46\00:34:32.33 He had his place of headquarters here, 00:34:32.40\00:34:36.71 and he seemed to have access to go to heaven to meetings, 00:34:36.74\00:34:39.54 Job Chapter 1 and Chapter 2. 00:34:39.57\00:34:41.88 But at the cross he's unmasked 00:34:41.91\00:34:46.08 and the... 00:34:46.11\00:34:48.45 I'm going to say the beings 00:34:48.48\00:34:49.82 from other places in the universe 00:34:49.85\00:34:51.29 see that he is who he really is in putting to death 00:34:51.32\00:34:55.59 the Son of God and he's unmasked. 00:34:55.62\00:34:57.59 Now they no longer pay any attention to him. 00:34:57.63\00:35:00.33 You're a deceiver, you're a liar, 00:35:00.36\00:35:02.26 you're a murderer. 00:35:02.30\00:35:03.80 And the accuser of our brethren 00:35:03.83\00:35:06.13 has been cast down. 00:35:06.20\00:35:07.64 If you continue reading, of course, 00:35:07.67\00:35:09.30 there is the, woe to the inhabitants 00:35:09.37\00:35:12.17 of the earth because the devil has come down upon you 00:35:12.24\00:35:15.54 having great wrath. 00:35:15.61\00:35:17.18 So, the question is, 00:35:17.21\00:35:19.51 how could he be in the presence of sin? 00:35:19.58\00:35:21.82 How could, God cannot be in the presence of sin? 00:35:21.85\00:35:24.59 How did the devil have access? 00:35:24.62\00:35:26.55 Again, I say it may be that God veiled His presence, 00:35:26.59\00:35:29.49 because the issue of sin 00:35:29.52\00:35:31.63 had not been completely resolved. 00:35:31.66\00:35:33.96 And this is an answer that I can give you. 00:35:34.00\00:35:37.27 Amen. Thank you so much for that. 00:35:37.30\00:35:39.10 Shelley, when man was made, 00:35:39.17\00:35:42.44 were we immortal, because the tree of life 00:35:42.47\00:35:44.87 was in the garden with Adam and Eve. 00:35:44.91\00:35:47.34 This question comes from Sylvia. 00:35:47.38\00:35:49.41 Sylvia, that's a great question. 00:35:49.48\00:35:51.51 In 1 Timothy 6:16, it says, God alone is immortal. 00:35:51.55\00:35:56.69 He lives in unapproachable light. 00:35:56.72\00:35:59.79 God is an infinite being without beginning or end. 00:35:59.82\00:36:03.59 The Bible mentions man's soul or spirit 00:36:03.63\00:36:08.33 over 1600 times not once 00:36:08.36\00:36:11.20 does it mention immortality. 00:36:11.23\00:36:14.37 It always describes us as mortal. 00:36:14.40\00:36:17.01 So, Bible believers, we know, 00:36:17.04\00:36:19.97 and I seem to trumpet this one a lot, 00:36:20.01\00:36:22.88 but 1 Corinthians 15:52-53. 00:36:22.91\00:36:26.35 The Bible believers 00:36:26.38\00:36:27.98 put on immortality at the second trump, 00:36:28.02\00:36:32.29 and this will be all who were in their graves. 00:36:32.32\00:36:34.82 Jesus said, they'll come up in that first resurrection 00:36:34.86\00:36:38.59 of righteousness if they were righteous. 00:36:38.63\00:36:41.13 But 1 Corinthians 15:52 says, "In a moment, 00:36:41.16\00:36:43.73 in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trumpet, 00:36:43.77\00:36:47.20 the trumpet will sound, 00:36:47.24\00:36:48.57 the dead are raised incorruptible," 00:36:48.60\00:36:52.01 because this incorruption or this corruption 00:36:52.04\00:36:54.88 has to put on incorruption. 00:36:54.91\00:36:56.75 This mortal has to put on immortality. 00:36:56.78\00:37:00.28 So, when Adam and Eve were in the garden, 00:37:00.32\00:37:03.55 they had access to the tree of life until they sinned. 00:37:03.59\00:37:06.76 And then God graciously put forth His hand 00:37:06.79\00:37:10.79 to protect them from returning to the tree of life. 00:37:10.83\00:37:16.36 And I'll tell you why? 00:37:16.40\00:37:17.73 Because He didn't want them to have to live in sin forever, 00:37:17.77\00:37:21.67 but we regain access in the new heaven, 00:37:21.70\00:37:25.51 it says Revelation 22:1-2, 00:37:25.54\00:37:29.24 "In the new earth, 00:37:29.28\00:37:30.61 there is a pure river of life that's flowing from the throne 00:37:30.65\00:37:34.48 of God and the Lamb. 00:37:34.52\00:37:35.88 And on either side of the river was the tree of life, 00:37:35.92\00:37:39.25 which bore 12 fruits. 00:37:39.29\00:37:41.29 Each tree yielding its fruit every month." 00:37:41.32\00:37:44.93 So, although they were not immortal at any time, 00:37:44.96\00:37:49.83 but they, I believe 00:37:49.86\00:37:51.30 we're going to have immortality. 00:37:51.33\00:37:52.80 Amen. 00:37:52.83\00:37:54.17 What a promise to look forward to. 00:37:54.20\00:37:55.54 That's beautiful. 00:37:55.57\00:37:56.91 Pastor John, I believe in the Trinity of God. 00:37:56.94\00:37:59.57 Jesus tells us to pray to Father God in His name, 00:37:59.64\00:38:03.24 not to pray to Him. 00:38:03.28\00:38:05.18 Why do we pray to Jesus in His name? 00:38:05.21\00:38:07.55 I'm so confused. 00:38:07.58\00:38:10.52 We addressed this in one of our prior programs 00:38:10.55\00:38:12.49 but I want to go ahead for the sake 00:38:12.55\00:38:14.26 of addressing this person that I've asked 00:38:14.29\00:38:16.69 and what we found in some of our programs, 00:38:16.73\00:38:18.53 you might find a repeat 00:38:18.56\00:38:20.63 kind of a derivative, so to speak, 00:38:20.66\00:38:23.70 similar to some of the answers we've given. 00:38:23.73\00:38:25.83 But we thank you for submitting in any way, because repetition 00:38:25.90\00:38:28.90 is the best teacher. 00:38:28.94\00:38:30.27 And I think that there are people 00:38:30.31\00:38:31.64 in every broadcast 00:38:31.67\00:38:33.04 that are saying, I never thought about that. 00:38:33.07\00:38:34.48 And the Lord has chosen this question to be answered 00:38:34.51\00:38:36.68 at this particular time. 00:38:36.71\00:38:38.65 When we pray, the issue 00:38:38.68\00:38:40.72 has always been in the ministry of Christ, 00:38:40.75\00:38:42.95 when He came the very nation to whom 00:38:42.98\00:38:44.99 He had committed the oracles of truth had not accepted Him. 00:38:45.02\00:38:49.89 They had rejected Him. 00:38:49.92\00:38:51.26 I came to My own and My own did not receive Me. 00:38:51.29\00:38:54.10 When He established the parameters between 00:38:54.13\00:38:56.83 the mediatorial work of Christ, the mediator, 00:38:56.87\00:39:00.40 only one that's Christ between God and man. 00:39:00.44\00:39:03.17 They still rejected that. 00:39:03.20\00:39:04.54 When He forgave people their sins, 00:39:04.57\00:39:06.74 they accused Him of being blasphemous. 00:39:06.78\00:39:10.65 When He forgave people or healed people, 00:39:10.68\00:39:13.58 they accused Him of taking a prerogative 00:39:13.62\00:39:15.78 that belonged only to God. 00:39:15.85\00:39:17.19 But what He was saying to them was, 00:39:17.22\00:39:18.89 "I am the Son of God. I am God incarnate." 00:39:18.92\00:39:21.99 And He said to them, "You believe in God, 00:39:22.02\00:39:25.03 believe also in Me." 00:39:25.06\00:39:26.76 He was making it very clear. 00:39:26.80\00:39:28.26 I know you believed in God, but I am the propitiation. 00:39:28.30\00:39:31.80 I am the sacrifice. I am the substitute. 00:39:31.83\00:39:34.10 I am the one who is between you 00:39:34.14\00:39:36.64 and the heavenly Father. 00:39:36.67\00:39:38.44 And then he said in John 14:6, 00:39:38.47\00:39:40.74 I am the way the truth and the life, 00:39:40.78\00:39:42.88 no one comes to the Father except through Me. 00:39:42.91\00:39:46.88 He says, I understand your position. 00:39:46.92\00:39:48.85 But as people might say, there are many ways to God. 00:39:48.88\00:39:50.92 No. 00:39:50.95\00:39:52.29 According to Scripture, there's only one 00:39:52.32\00:39:53.66 and that's through Christ Jesus. 00:39:53.69\00:39:55.02 John 14:13-14. 00:39:55.06\00:39:56.66 Here's why we ask in His name, 00:39:56.69\00:39:58.93 "Whatever you ask in My name that I will do that the Father 00:39:58.96\00:40:03.20 may be glorified in the Son. 00:40:03.26\00:40:05.17 If you ask anything in My name, I will do it." 00:40:05.20\00:40:09.30 Why? 00:40:09.34\00:40:10.67 Because there's one mediator between God and men, 00:40:10.71\00:40:13.94 the man Christ Jesus, 1 Timothy 2:15. 00:40:13.98\00:40:16.98 Amen. 00:40:17.01\00:40:18.35 Praise the Lord for the mediator for Jesus. 00:40:18.38\00:40:21.05 The high priest. Yes. 00:47:37.02\00:47:38.95 "Now godliness with contentment is..." 00:47:38.99\00:47:42.52 Great gain. "Great gain.' 00:47:42.56\00:47:44.39 When you get godliness for us, 00:47:44.43\00:47:46.29 it didn't say great gain with contentment is godliness. 00:47:46.33\00:47:50.37 It says godliness with contentment is great gain. 00:47:50.43\00:47:53.87 And the bottom line is you brought nothing in, 00:47:53.90\00:47:56.97 you ain't taking nothing out. 00:47:57.01\00:47:59.11 God will take care of you. 00:47:59.14\00:48:00.58 Don't get caught by things that sound too good to be true 00:48:00.61\00:48:03.58 because chances are they are not. 00:48:03.61\00:48:06.51 I just think of 1 Timothy 6:10 that says, 00:48:06.55\00:48:09.38 "The love of money is the root of all evil." 00:48:09.42\00:48:12.62 And you know, there's an old saying, 00:48:12.65\00:48:14.09 a fool and his money will soon separate. 00:48:14.12\00:48:17.46 When you get involved in all these multi-level schemes, 00:48:17.49\00:48:20.50 be careful that they're not a pyramid where people 00:48:20.53\00:48:23.13 are being hurt under you. 00:48:23.16\00:48:24.80 That's good. 00:48:24.83\00:48:26.17 Well, I like to say that, the Bible, 00:48:26.20\00:48:28.30 doesn't say that sin, 00:48:28.34\00:48:30.11 it's a sin to have riches or wealth. 00:48:30.17\00:48:32.54 No. It's how you use that money. 00:48:32.57\00:48:34.34 And that's why you quoted that the love 00:48:34.38\00:48:36.81 of money is the root of all evil. 00:48:36.85\00:48:39.05 But when you look at Psalms 1:12, it says, 00:48:39.08\00:48:41.32 "Wealth and riches shall be in his house 00:48:41.35\00:48:43.05 and his righteousness shall endure forever." 00:48:43.08\00:48:44.69 So, God will take care of His people. 00:48:44.72\00:48:46.55 However, he, in Proverbs 11:28, 00:48:46.62\00:48:49.92 it says, "He that trusts in his riches 00:48:49.99\00:48:52.09 shall fall, 00:48:52.13\00:48:53.46 but the righteous shall flourish as a branch." 00:48:53.50\00:48:56.16 So, the focus is to, 00:48:56.20\00:48:58.80 I mean, stay focused on God 00:48:58.83\00:49:00.80 and trust in Him. 00:49:00.84\00:49:02.37 And He will take care of you. 00:49:02.40\00:49:03.81 My God shall supply all your needs 00:49:03.87\00:49:05.31 according to His riches and glory, 00:49:05.34\00:49:07.14 as we find in Philippians 4:19. 00:49:07.18\00:49:09.91 Can I say one more thing? Please. 00:49:09.94\00:49:11.28 Yes, Shelley. 00:49:11.31\00:49:12.65 I think that greed, people who have a love of money 00:49:12.68\00:49:16.28 develop this avarice for money 00:49:16.32\00:49:20.92 and they become greedy, the rich want to be richer. 00:49:20.96\00:49:25.09 And I don't think that they ever find that contentment 00:49:25.13\00:49:28.33 because eternity is in their heart, 00:49:28.36\00:49:30.60 but they just keep going after that. 00:49:30.63\00:49:33.20 And I know a lot of very wealthy people 00:49:33.27\00:49:36.37 who are really unhappy. 00:49:36.44\00:49:37.97 Yeah. 00:49:38.01\00:49:39.34 A good friend of mine used to say 00:49:39.37\00:49:40.88 money never buys happiness. 00:49:40.91\00:49:42.94 My good friend, Pastor Doug his father was a billionaire. 00:49:42.98\00:49:45.15 He owned so much, but Doug said, you know, 00:49:45.18\00:49:47.28 I know my father was never happy and money 00:49:47.32\00:49:49.55 doesn't buy happiness. 00:49:49.58\00:49:50.92 But for people that are poor, I've heard a person say, 00:49:50.95\00:49:53.59 well, I'm poor, give me a chance 00:49:53.62\00:49:55.22 to come to that conclusion myself 00:49:55.26\00:49:57.46 because it does make life a lot easier. 00:49:57.49\00:49:59.86 I want to just make that point a lighthearted. 00:49:59.93\00:50:01.50 It does make life a lot easier, but don't make it your God. 00:50:01.53\00:50:04.33 Because 1 Timothy 6:9, 00:50:04.37\00:50:05.97 the verse right before that says, 00:50:06.00\00:50:07.74 "Those who desire to be rich fall into temptation 00:50:07.77\00:50:10.61 and a snare and into many foolish 00:50:10.64\00:50:13.01 and harmful desires, 00:50:13.07\00:50:14.41 which drown men in destruction and perdition." 00:50:14.44\00:50:17.05 It becomes all-consuming and they die with money 00:50:17.08\00:50:20.12 in their hands and no faith in their hearts. 00:50:20.15\00:50:22.85 We'll see if maybe we can toss in one more question, 00:50:22.88\00:50:25.62 we have less than a minute. 00:50:25.65\00:50:27.19 It says, I want to know 00:50:27.26\00:50:28.59 if Adam knew that God was taking his rib 00:50:28.62\00:50:31.49 to create Eve because of the statement 00:50:31.53\00:50:33.90 he made when he woke from his sleep. 00:50:33.93\00:50:36.03 This came from Emmanuel in Texas. 00:50:36.06\00:50:37.87 So, did Adam know what was coming? 00:50:37.90\00:50:41.84 I think it's speculative at best. 00:50:41.87\00:50:43.67 The Lord put him to sleep 00:50:43.71\00:50:45.11 and then he told him afterwards, 00:50:45.14\00:50:46.64 you know, this is taken from Adam. 00:50:46.68\00:50:48.94 A woman means taken from man, but I don't know, 00:50:48.98\00:50:51.95 there's no scripture that said that the Lord said, 00:50:51.98\00:50:53.72 hey, lay down, I'm going to take 00:50:53.78\00:50:55.12 one of your ribs and make you a wife. 00:50:55.15\00:50:56.75 I don't find any scripture for that. 00:50:56.79\00:50:58.79 Pastor, Johnny or Shelley? 00:50:58.82\00:51:00.72 I find it very interesting because the Lord allowed 00:51:00.76\00:51:04.03 Adam to see that he was alone. 00:51:04.06\00:51:06.26 He saw all the animals with a companion 00:51:06.29\00:51:09.50 and the Lord wanted to fulfill his happiness 00:51:09.53\00:51:13.40 and He made him, how does the Bible say, 00:51:13.44\00:51:16.37 a helpmate. 00:51:16.40\00:51:18.27 So, he found a completion of God's creation 00:51:18.31\00:51:23.91 was the creation of a woman. 00:51:23.95\00:51:25.38 Amen, Shelley, anything you want to add? 00:51:25.41\00:51:27.45 No, that's good. Okay. 00:51:27.48\00:51:29.12 What we're going to do right now is give you 00:51:29.15\00:51:31.39 the contact information one more time. 00:51:31.42\00:51:33.82 So, you can send us your questions. 00:51:33.86\00:51:35.49 We love to hear from you. 00:51:35.52\00:51:36.89 And when you send them in, why don't you give us 00:51:36.93\00:51:39.39 the state you're from or the country you're from, 00:51:39.43\00:51:42.03 because we love to hear where you are watching 3ABN. 00:51:42.06\00:51:46.23 So, after this break, we'll be right back with some 00:51:46.27\00:51:48.94 closing thoughts from our 3ABN family here. 00:51:48.97\00:51:53.21 If you're enjoying our 3ABN Bible Q and A, 00:51:53.24\00:51:56.04 then tell your friends. 00:51:56.08\00:51:57.61 Each Monday we'll bring you a fresh program, 00:51:57.65\00:52:00.12 answering the Bible questions you send us 00:52:00.15\00:52:02.48 and we'll use God's Holy Word to shed light on those texts 00:52:02.52\00:52:05.62 that seem difficult to understand. 00:52:05.65\00:52:07.89 If you would like your questions answered 00:52:07.92\00:52:09.62 on an upcoming program, 00:52:09.66\00:52:11.19 just email them to us. 00:52:11.23\00:52:12.69 Our email address is BibleQA@3abn.org 00:52:12.73\00:52:17.40 That's BibleQA@3abn.org 00:52:17.43\00:52:22.10 You can also text us 00:52:22.14\00:52:23.47 your questions by sending them to (618) 228-3975. 00:52:23.54\00:52:28.61 That number again is (618) 228-3975. 00:52:28.64\00:52:33.65 Be sure to include your name and where you live, 00:52:33.68\00:52:36.15 and then watch 3ABN Bible Q and A 00:52:36.18\00:52:38.89 for the answers from God's Word. 00:52:38.92\00:52:53.90
