Let us pray together. 00:04:14.38\00:04:17.25 Our wonderful and loving Heavenly Father 00:04:17.29\00:04:19.02 we rejoice in Your salvation. 00:04:19.05\00:04:21.52 We thank You, Lord, for the promise that if we ask, 00:04:21.56\00:04:24.19 we will receive. 00:04:24.23\00:04:25.56 And at this time, Lord, we ask for Your Holy Spirit, 00:04:25.59\00:04:28.30 that we may share the Holy Scriptures 00:04:28.33\00:04:31.13 in such a way that people will be drawn to Jesus. 00:04:31.20\00:04:33.67 We pray for You to bless us to be able to make clear that 00:04:33.70\00:04:38.21 which seems difficult, and we pray for everyone 00:04:38.24\00:04:41.51 that is tuning in, watching, listening, 00:04:41.54\00:04:44.61 we pray that Your Holy Spirit 00:04:44.65\00:04:45.98 will also impress upon their minds. 00:04:46.01\00:04:48.25 The blessing and the joy it is to study Your Holy Word. 00:04:48.28\00:04:52.62 We pray for these things in Jesus' holy and blessed name. 00:04:52.65\00:04:56.02 Amen. Amen. 00:04:56.06\00:04:57.39 Amen. 00:04:57.46\00:04:58.79 Well, I'm ready to hear the answers 00:04:58.83\00:05:00.23 from our panel so let's jump right in. 00:05:00.26\00:05:01.63 We're going to Ryan, we're going to you first. 00:05:01.66\00:05:03.00 Sure. 00:05:03.03\00:05:04.37 This says, "Since the Sunday law 00:05:04.40\00:05:05.73 is the mark of the beast. 00:05:05.77\00:05:07.10 What are we as Seventh-day Adventists 00:05:07.14\00:05:08.47 supposed to do to receive the seal of God? 00:05:08.50\00:05:10.87 Do we receive the seal of God by just continuing to keep 00:05:10.94\00:05:14.24 the Sabbath day the seventh day holy?" 00:05:14.31\00:05:17.08 This came from Marjorie in Massachusetts. 00:05:17.11\00:05:19.28 So how do we receive the seal of God? 00:05:19.31\00:05:20.95 Yeah, absolutely. 00:05:20.98\00:05:22.32 Marjorie, thank you so much for sending in this question, 00:05:22.35\00:05:24.42 and I know exactly what you meant 00:05:24.45\00:05:25.85 when you use the certain language in your question. 00:05:25.89\00:05:27.42 I just want to address a couple things 00:05:27.49\00:05:28.82 for clarification purposes. 00:05:28.86\00:05:30.19 First of all, the Sunday law in and of itself 00:05:30.23\00:05:31.63 is not the mark of the beast, 00:05:31.66\00:05:32.99 it's what is used to bring about the mark of the beast, 00:05:33.03\00:05:35.53 the final test which is dealing with the Sabbath, 00:05:35.56\00:05:37.50 the rejection of the biblical Sabbath 00:05:37.57\00:05:39.47 and the acceptance of a counterfeit Sabbath 00:05:39.50\00:05:41.37 is indeed the mark of the beast and so will, 00:05:41.40\00:05:43.51 that maybe is another question 00:05:43.54\00:05:44.87 somebody might want to send in a question about that. 00:05:44.91\00:05:47.58 But what are we as Seventh-day Adventist 00:05:47.61\00:05:49.38 supposed to do to receive the seal of God? 00:05:49.41\00:05:50.98 Well, we're supposed to do everything 00:05:51.05\00:05:53.25 that everybody else is supposed to do 00:05:53.28\00:05:54.62 and that is we have to make sure that 00:05:54.65\00:05:56.42 we have an in depth relationship 00:05:56.45\00:05:58.65 with Jesus Christ, 00:05:58.69\00:06:00.09 that we are sealed by the Holy Spirit of the Lord. 00:06:00.12\00:06:02.82 First of all, the first thing that 00:06:02.86\00:06:04.19 comes to my mind is Acts 2:38, 00:06:04.26\00:06:06.39 when they ask Peter, "What must we do?" 00:06:06.43\00:06:08.23 He made it very clear, " Repent." 00:06:08.26\00:06:09.86 That's number one. 00:06:09.90\00:06:11.27 "Repent of your sins, 00:06:11.30\00:06:12.63 let every one of you be baptized 00:06:12.67\00:06:14.00 in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ 00:06:14.04\00:06:15.37 for the remission of your sins, 00:06:15.40\00:06:16.84 and you shall receive the gift of the Holy Spirit." 00:06:16.87\00:06:20.61 And so we have to confess and repent of our sins, 00:06:20.68\00:06:23.21 that's number one. 00:06:23.24\00:06:24.58 And, of course, when we confess our sins, 00:06:24.65\00:06:26.72 1 John 1:9 lets us know and tells us clearly that 00:06:26.75\00:06:29.35 "If we confess our sins, He is faithful 00:06:29.38\00:06:31.62 and just to forgive us our sins and to," 00:06:31.65\00:06:33.62 here's the key word, 00:06:33.66\00:06:35.52 "to cleanse us from all unrighteousness." 00:06:35.56\00:06:38.56 In John 15:5, Jesus talks about having an abiding relationship. 00:06:38.59\00:06:42.90 He said, "I am the vine, you are the branches. 00:06:42.93\00:06:45.07 He who abides in Me and I in him bears much fruit, 00:06:45.10\00:06:48.80 for without Me you can do nothing." 00:06:48.84\00:06:50.24 When we are in that abiding relationship, 00:06:50.27\00:06:52.21 we're being led and guided in a constant 00:06:52.24\00:06:55.08 surrendered relationship with Jesus Christ. 00:06:55.11\00:06:57.65 And so what must we do to make sure that 00:06:57.71\00:06:59.48 we are sealed by the Holy Spirit, 00:06:59.51\00:07:01.45 that we had received the seal of God. 00:07:01.48\00:07:03.42 Yes, the Sabbath is a major part, 00:07:03.45\00:07:05.22 but the Sabbath in and of itself does not save us. 00:07:05.25\00:07:07.39 Jesus is the one who saves us. 00:07:07.46\00:07:09.32 The Holy Spirit is the one who seals us, 00:07:09.36\00:07:11.53 and yes the final test. 00:07:11.56\00:07:13.06 If we're living in that time, we're willing, 00:07:13.09\00:07:15.33 it will come down to your dedication 00:07:15.36\00:07:17.87 to keeping all of the Ten Commandments. 00:07:17.93\00:07:19.67 Not just the Sabbath, 00:07:19.70\00:07:21.04 but remember Isaiah 8:16 says, 00:07:21.10\00:07:22.50 "Bind up the testimony, 00:07:22.54\00:07:23.87 seal the law among My disciples." 00:07:23.91\00:07:26.01 It just happens to be that 00:07:26.04\00:07:27.38 that final test is gonna come down 00:07:27.44\00:07:28.94 to whether or not you obey the Creator 00:07:28.98\00:07:30.95 in observing His Sabbath day, 00:07:31.01\00:07:32.65 the true biblical Sabbath day, or you reject it 00:07:32.68\00:07:35.52 and receive the false counterfeit Sabbath. 00:07:35.55\00:07:37.29 So in this case, to prepare for the seal of God 00:07:37.35\00:07:40.29 to receive that an abiding daily 00:07:40.32\00:07:42.22 surrendering relationship 00:07:42.26\00:07:43.59 with Christ is absolutely needed, 00:07:43.63\00:07:45.53 and that will lead you to love Him enough 00:07:45.56\00:07:47.36 to keep all of His commandments. 00:07:47.40\00:07:49.23 Amen. Powerful answer. Thank you so much. 00:07:49.26\00:07:51.53 The seal of God is not just one thing 00:07:51.57\00:07:53.20 but it's that encompassing with Jesus, I love that. 00:07:53.23\00:07:55.44 Pastor John, we're coming to you. 00:07:55.47\00:07:57.24 "How, when and who decided what books 00:07:57.27\00:08:01.01 were to be included in the Bible?" 00:08:01.08\00:08:03.18 This is from John. 00:08:03.21\00:08:05.15 Well thank you, Jill, for that question. 00:08:05.18\00:08:06.58 Do I have 15 minutes to answer that? 00:08:06.61\00:08:08.55 And since the answer is no, let me just dive right into it. 00:08:08.58\00:08:11.39 We believe that the Bible is the canonical writings, 00:08:11.45\00:08:15.02 meaning a collection of genuine writings. 00:08:15.06\00:08:18.09 Now this is a very short answer, 00:08:18.13\00:08:19.49 but I want to just pose two questions. 00:08:19.53\00:08:21.66 Is the Bible a collection of authoritative writings, 00:08:21.70\00:08:26.13 or is it an authoritative collection of writings? 00:08:26.17\00:08:29.27 It may sound like the same thing 00:08:29.30\00:08:30.64 but as you study further into this. 00:08:30.67\00:08:32.57 When you look at the development 00:08:32.61\00:08:33.94 of those movements 00:08:34.01\00:08:35.34 that believe that a group of individuals 00:08:35.38\00:08:38.08 or persons individually 00:08:38.11\00:08:40.55 have conferred on the Bible 00:08:40.58\00:08:42.25 saying the Bible is an authoritative collection. 00:08:42.28\00:08:44.95 It suggests that they have given the Bible authority. 00:08:44.99\00:08:48.12 But the Bible is a collection of authoritative writings, 00:08:48.19\00:08:51.46 meaning the authority is in the Bible, 00:08:51.49\00:08:53.76 not in the conference. 00:08:53.80\00:08:55.43 That's why 2 Timothy 3:16, 00:08:55.46\00:08:57.87 "All scripture is given by inspiration of God 00:08:57.90\00:09:01.04 and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, 00:09:01.10\00:09:03.64 for instruction in righteousness." 00:09:03.67\00:09:06.04 Now Protestants 00:09:06.07\00:09:07.41 and I'm a Protestant believe that 00:09:07.44\00:09:08.78 the Bible is a collection of authoritative writings, 00:09:08.81\00:09:10.68 meaning that the authority is not in us. 00:09:10.71\00:09:14.35 It is in the Holy Writ. 00:09:14.38\00:09:16.08 The Holy Writ is the unchangeable 00:09:16.12\00:09:17.62 authority of God's Word. 00:09:17.65\00:09:19.12 The Bible's authority is unchangeable 00:09:19.15\00:09:20.99 whether we agree with it or not. 00:09:21.02\00:09:22.86 And, but you find 00:09:22.89\00:09:24.26 there's a differing in the theological world like 00:09:24.29\00:09:26.23 for example, in the Catholic world, 00:09:26.26\00:09:28.43 the Eastern Orthodox, the Oriental Orthodox, 00:09:28.46\00:09:31.17 the Assyrians and the Anglicans, 00:09:31.20\00:09:33.23 traditionally believed the opposite. 00:09:33.27\00:09:35.64 They believe that the Bible is... 00:09:35.67\00:09:38.11 The conference of His authority was decided by the church. 00:09:38.14\00:09:41.81 We don't believe that. 00:09:41.84\00:09:43.18 We believe the conference was decided by God. 00:09:43.21\00:09:45.61 And when it was developed, that's where you get the phrase 00:09:45.65\00:09:48.05 "sacred tradition," 00:09:48.12\00:09:49.78 so they could add to the Bible, 00:09:49.82\00:09:51.19 well, we believe that since we say this is sacred, 00:09:51.22\00:09:54.36 then we could add to the sacred nature of that 00:09:54.39\00:09:57.09 by adding sacred tradition as for Sunday and Sabbath 00:09:57.13\00:10:00.80 were on the same plane for some time. 00:10:00.83\00:10:03.40 When you look at the lifespan of the Old Testament 00:10:03.43\00:10:06.30 from about 1400 BC to about 430 BC 00:10:06.33\00:10:09.20 you find the Old Testament was, 00:10:09.24\00:10:11.71 was concluded the writings aspect of it. 00:10:11.74\00:10:15.24 The historian Josephus wrote that the Old Testament 00:10:15.28\00:10:18.65 was completed around 430 BC, 00:10:18.68\00:10:20.45 and you find 00:10:20.48\00:10:21.82 the authoritative nature of that Jesus 00:10:21.85\00:10:23.25 referred many times, 00:10:23.28\00:10:24.65 throughout His life Jesus made many references 00:10:24.69\00:10:26.99 to the Old Testament prophets, 00:10:27.02\00:10:28.69 and He talked about nine times 00:10:28.72\00:10:30.63 you find this in the life of Christ, 00:10:30.69\00:10:32.43 the scripture is fulfilled, the scripture is fulfilled, 00:10:32.46\00:10:35.46 meaning by the time of Christ the scriptures 00:10:35.50\00:10:37.60 were not still in process, they were locked. 00:10:37.63\00:10:41.10 Now He's coming to fulfill them. 00:10:41.17\00:10:42.70 And He says something amazing in John 10:35, 00:10:42.74\00:10:45.21 in His own authority. 00:10:45.24\00:10:46.57 Jesus says, "And the scriptures cannot be broken," 00:10:46.61\00:10:49.88 meaning the Old Testament is still not in process. 00:10:49.91\00:10:52.21 You also find in Matthew 26:54, 00:10:52.25\00:10:55.52 "How then could the Scriptures be fulfilled, 00:10:55.55\00:10:57.92 that it must happen thus?" 00:10:57.95\00:10:59.59 So Jesus said this is happening in my life to fulfill 00:10:59.62\00:11:02.26 what has already been established. 00:11:02.29\00:11:04.09 So in a nutshell, 00:11:04.13\00:11:05.83 Peter considered the writings of Paul to be authoritative. 00:11:05.86\00:11:08.96 He said, many people wrestle with the writings of Paul 00:11:09.00\00:11:10.93 to their own destruction. 00:11:11.00\00:11:12.33 And Paul, his writings were considered epistles, 00:11:12.37\00:11:15.10 passed from one church to the next, 00:11:15.14\00:11:16.81 meaning it was developed 00:11:16.84\00:11:18.34 in the church today still establishes it. 00:11:18.37\00:11:20.71 So lastly, Revelation 22:18, we don't change the Bible, 00:11:20.74\00:11:25.45 the Bible is supposed to change us. 00:11:25.48\00:11:27.65 "For I testify to everyone 00:11:27.68\00:11:29.02 who hears the words of the prophecy of this book: 00:11:29.05\00:11:31.05 If anyone adds to these things, God will add to him the plagues 00:11:31.12\00:11:34.52 that are written in the book." 00:11:34.59\00:11:35.92 And if anyone takes away his name, 00:11:35.96\00:11:37.29 he would be taken out of the book of life. 00:11:37.33\00:11:38.76 The Bible is authoritative writings, 00:11:38.79\00:11:41.73 the authority conferred on it by God 00:11:41.76\00:11:43.73 and inspired by the Holy Spirit. 00:11:43.77\00:11:45.33 Amen. That's a powerful answer. 00:11:45.37\00:11:47.14 I need nine more minutes. That was really good. 00:11:47.17\00:11:50.94 We're gonna stay with the topic of the Bible 00:11:51.01\00:11:52.64 and books of the Bible 00:11:52.67\00:11:54.01 so we're coming to you, Pastor Johnny. 00:11:54.08\00:11:55.41 "As a beginner of Bible study, where do I start, 00:11:55.44\00:11:58.71 which Bible book can I begin with? 00:11:58.75\00:12:01.68 How does one even study the Bible?" 00:12:01.72\00:12:03.69 And this comes from Polki. 00:12:03.72\00:12:05.95 Okay, that's a good question. 00:12:05.99\00:12:07.79 And what I like to say, most of the time is, 00:12:07.82\00:12:11.86 I'd like to recommend starting with the Book of John, 00:12:11.89\00:12:15.10 because it gives you a picture of Jesus who Jesus is. 00:12:15.13\00:12:18.90 From, He existed from eternity past, 00:12:18.93\00:12:22.80 and He has no beginning 00:12:22.84\00:12:24.94 and it talks to you in a marvelous way. 00:12:25.01\00:12:28.08 It seems like the Apostle John 00:12:28.11\00:12:29.91 captured the love of Christ in such a way, 00:12:29.94\00:12:33.28 and the Lord used him in a mighty way 00:12:33.31\00:12:35.28 to bring forth the gospel message marvelously 00:12:35.32\00:12:38.55 so then I would say, go back to Matthew, 00:12:38.59\00:12:40.89 and read again from Matthew all the way 00:12:40.96\00:12:42.96 to the Book of Romans, then you're gonna get 00:12:42.99\00:12:44.96 a nice foundation to be able to read, 00:12:45.03\00:12:49.66 let's say back in Genesis. 00:12:49.70\00:12:52.10 Some people start in Genesis, which is fine. 00:12:52.13\00:12:54.14 You understand that we were created by God, 00:12:54.20\00:12:58.41 marvelous place to begin. 00:12:58.44\00:13:00.14 But my suggestion is begin with John, 00:13:00.18\00:13:03.18 get a foundation on 00:13:03.21\00:13:04.55 who Jesus is because in John 17:3, 00:13:04.58\00:13:07.52 it has the words, "And this is life eternal, 00:13:07.55\00:13:09.52 that they may know You, the only true God, 00:13:09.55\00:13:11.72 and Jesus Christ whom You have sent." 00:13:11.79\00:13:13.86 So having this foundation of Jesus Christ as our Creator, 00:13:13.89\00:13:19.36 as our Savior, 00:13:19.39\00:13:20.90 as the one who sacrificed His life for us. 00:13:20.93\00:13:23.30 As you read John, Matthew, Mark, Luke and John. 00:13:23.33\00:13:26.67 Because when you do this, 00:13:26.70\00:13:28.30 you're gonna find that you're looking unto Jesus, 00:13:28.34\00:13:30.77 the author and finisher of our faith. 00:13:30.81\00:13:32.77 You have that good foundation, 00:13:32.81\00:13:34.14 then you get into the Book of Acts 00:13:34.18\00:13:35.51 and you see how the disciples 00:13:35.54\00:13:37.51 were faithful carrying this message. 00:13:37.55\00:13:39.58 And it tells you in the Book of Acts, 00:13:39.61\00:13:41.18 there is salvation in none other than Jesus Christ, 00:13:41.22\00:13:44.39 there's no name under heaven whereby we must be saved. 00:13:44.45\00:13:48.26 So that's why, get that nice foundation 00:13:48.32\00:13:49.66 in Book of Romans 00:13:49.69\00:13:51.03 and takes you into righteousness by faith. 00:13:51.09\00:13:53.23 And so this gives you a nice foundation. 00:13:53.26\00:13:56.13 This is Romans 5:8 says, 00:13:56.16\00:13:57.83 "And God demonstrates His love toward us, 00:13:57.90\00:13:59.63 in that while we were yet sinners, 00:13:59.67\00:14:01.34 Christ died for us." 00:14:01.40\00:14:02.80 Once you get all that, and you go into Genesis 00:14:02.84\00:14:05.34 and you see how all things began, 00:14:05.37\00:14:07.21 you understand that there is a Savior. 00:14:07.24\00:14:09.58 Amen. 00:14:09.61\00:14:10.95 Christ is the center and circumference of Scripture. 00:14:11.01\00:14:12.55 Amen. 00:14:12.58\00:14:13.92 We're going from Scripture to what we're supposed to eat. 00:14:13.95\00:14:16.45 Pastor John, we're coming to you. 00:14:16.48\00:14:18.09 In Luke 24:42-43 when Jesus met with His disciples, 00:14:18.15\00:14:23.29 "They gave Jesus boiled fish, and He took and ate." 00:14:23.32\00:14:26.73 "It seems strange that being in His immortal and sinless body, 00:14:26.76\00:14:31.13 that He would eat dead flesh. 00:14:31.20\00:14:33.03 How do we explain this action?" 00:14:33.07\00:14:34.57 This comes from out Hal in Berrien Springs. 00:14:34.60\00:14:37.67 Thank you for that question Jill. 00:14:37.74\00:14:39.31 I want to begin, 00:14:39.34\00:14:40.68 because the reference is in Luke 24:42-43, 00:14:40.71\00:14:43.51 I'm not going to read that. 00:14:43.55\00:14:45.01 But I'm going to say that if the Bible parameters 00:14:45.08\00:14:48.68 are followed for clean and unclean. 00:14:48.72\00:14:52.39 That is the ultimate test of whether or not 00:14:52.42\00:14:55.02 we are in violation 00:14:55.09\00:14:56.42 of God's biblical health principles 00:14:56.46\00:14:58.06 or in harmony with it. 00:14:58.09\00:14:59.73 And Leviticus 11:9-12 gives us the parameters. 00:14:59.76\00:15:03.53 So, and then we'll go back to discussing Jesus. 00:15:03.57\00:15:07.10 It says in Leviticus 11:9, 00:15:07.14\00:15:09.17 "These you may eat of all that are in the water: 00:15:09.20\00:15:11.84 whatever in the water has fins and scales, 00:15:11.87\00:15:13.84 whether in the seas 00:15:13.88\00:15:15.21 or in the rivers that you may eat. 00:15:15.24\00:15:17.25 But all that are all in the seas 00:15:17.28\00:15:19.08 or in the rivers that do not have fins and scales, 00:15:19.11\00:15:21.95 all that move in the water or any living thing 00:15:21.98\00:15:23.99 which is in the water, 00:15:24.02\00:15:25.49 they are an abomination to you." 00:15:25.52\00:15:27.79 And that what the Bible 00:15:27.82\00:15:29.16 is in essence saying like crabs, 00:15:29.19\00:15:30.53 shrimps, lobsters, oysters, clams, scallops, 00:15:30.56\00:15:33.63 so many other things, shark, 00:15:33.66\00:15:36.30 they don't have fins and scales. 00:15:36.33\00:15:38.37 When you establish these parameters, 00:15:38.40\00:15:40.77 I think the question made it almost sound like, 00:15:40.80\00:15:42.77 well, now that Jesus is in His immortal sinless body 00:15:42.80\00:15:45.67 how dare He, then He would, 00:15:45.71\00:15:48.31 if He was in violation, He would now be a sinner 00:15:48.38\00:15:51.75 even though He was now in this resurrected body. 00:15:51.78\00:15:55.12 We have to keep in mind and if you traveled as I have 00:15:55.15\00:15:57.72 and many of us have around 00:15:57.79\00:15:59.52 this Seventh-day Adventist world, 00:15:59.55\00:16:01.26 you go to countries 00:16:01.32\00:16:02.72 where they don't have stuff that 00:16:02.76\00:16:04.09 come out of factories. 00:16:04.13\00:16:05.46 Now let me pause on that. 00:16:05.49\00:16:06.83 When you think that what comes out of a factory, 00:16:06.86\00:16:09.73 and I'm being very candid here. 00:16:09.76\00:16:11.60 If it comes out of a can, 00:16:11.67\00:16:13.00 it's got to be something that was made up, 00:16:13.03\00:16:15.07 it's a combination of things that we don't even know, 00:16:15.14\00:16:17.64 formaldehyde and rubber and I'm just being candid here. 00:16:17.71\00:16:20.71 There are some things that 00:16:20.74\00:16:22.08 we call healthy vegetarian foods 00:16:22.11\00:16:24.45 that people that are real vegetarians 00:16:24.48\00:16:25.98 wouldn't eat. 00:16:26.01\00:16:27.45 So what was Jesus establishing here? 00:16:27.48\00:16:28.88 He is saying as long as you follow 00:16:28.92\00:16:30.39 the parameters of Scripture, 00:16:30.42\00:16:32.22 you are in harmony with the code of God. 00:16:32.25\00:16:35.52 And so when we get to heaven, 00:16:35.56\00:16:37.39 obviously we're not gonna eat fish. 00:16:37.43\00:16:39.63 In the New Earth animals 00:16:39.66\00:16:40.96 are not going to be running away from us 00:16:41.00\00:16:42.33 fearful of their lives. 00:16:42.36\00:16:43.70 But as well in this life, 00:16:43.73\00:16:45.07 the Bible establishes parameters 00:16:45.13\00:16:46.47 for clean and unclean, and we are safe 00:16:46.50\00:16:48.00 as long as we stay within those guidelines. 00:16:48.04\00:16:49.37 Amen. 00:16:49.40\00:16:50.74 Thank you, solid biblical, Pastor. 00:16:50.77\00:16:52.41 We're gonna stay with the topic of food. 00:16:52.44\00:16:53.91 Pastor Johnny, coming back to you. 00:16:53.94\00:16:55.68 "I was in the Philippines 00:16:55.71\00:16:57.05 at a Seventh-day Adventist University. 00:16:57.08\00:16:58.88 And what I found there was very confusing 00:16:58.91\00:17:00.72 as they were eating ducks. 00:17:00.75\00:17:02.88 When I asked they said, "It was clean to eat ducks." 00:17:02.92\00:17:05.42 Is duck clean or unclean?" Charles. 00:17:05.45\00:17:09.36 That is a very good question. 00:17:09.39\00:17:12.26 Actually you know, 00:17:12.29\00:17:13.63 I kind of grew up myself thinking that 00:17:13.66\00:17:15.40 these animals were unclean. 00:17:15.43\00:17:17.83 Because you look at them and those ducks, you know, 00:17:17.87\00:17:20.70 they practically eat anything they can see, 00:17:20.74\00:17:23.37 especially they put their little beaks 00:17:23.41\00:17:25.07 inside all the filthy stuff and you say, 00:17:25.11\00:17:27.34 I don't think I'll eat that. 00:17:27.38\00:17:29.01 But these animals, of course, you have the question is, 00:17:29.04\00:17:33.68 are they clean or unclean? 00:17:33.72\00:17:35.72 The question came in my mind specially 00:17:35.75\00:17:37.85 when I was in Germany, and I found out that 00:17:37.89\00:17:39.92 the Seventh-day Adventists over there eat duck. 00:17:39.95\00:17:43.16 When I was visiting this lady, and she said that her husband, 00:17:43.19\00:17:47.13 which was a pastor, he passed away 00:17:47.13\00:17:49.66 and she started talking to me about duck and I said, 00:17:49.70\00:17:51.43 "You know this is an unclean animal." 00:17:51.50\00:17:52.83 No. She said, "It's clean." 00:17:52.87\00:17:54.20 And we went back and forth a little bit, 00:17:54.24\00:17:55.57 but after doing some research in this, 00:17:55.60\00:17:58.24 you will find that God names the birds that 00:17:58.27\00:18:03.35 we can eat, the fowl that we can eat by name. 00:18:03.38\00:18:06.88 So when you go to Leviticus Chapter 11, 00:18:06.92\00:18:10.22 you will find the references to these animals, 00:18:10.25\00:18:12.42 beginning in verse 13, and some people think 00:18:12.45\00:18:14.92 because the duck has that kind of a web type of, 00:18:14.96\00:18:17.89 what do you call them, feet? 00:18:17.93\00:18:19.69 Feet. Feet. 00:18:19.73\00:18:21.16 They say, "Oh, no, it's unclean but it's not unclean." 00:18:21.23\00:18:23.90 According to Jewish tradition, 00:18:23.93\00:18:27.20 the duck is in the list of clean animals 00:18:27.24\00:18:29.80 and you know very well that the, you know, 00:18:29.84\00:18:31.34 they're very strict about their diet. 00:18:31.37\00:18:33.41 So let's take a look at 00:18:33.44\00:18:35.58 Leviticus 11:13-20, 00:18:35.61\00:18:41.55 let's see how far we can get based on the time 00:18:41.58\00:18:43.85 that we have allotted. 00:18:43.89\00:18:45.32 And Leviticus 11:13 and onward, let's go to. 00:18:45.35\00:18:49.92 Right here we got it. Here we go. 00:18:49.96\00:18:52.39 It says here, notice, notice very carefully. 00:18:52.43\00:18:55.20 "And these you shall regard 00:18:55.23\00:18:57.03 as an abomination among the birds, 00:18:57.07\00:18:58.70 they shall not be eaten, they are an abomination. 00:18:58.73\00:19:01.10 The eagle, the vulture, the buzzard, the kite, 00:19:01.14\00:19:04.97 and the falcon after its kind, 00:19:05.04\00:19:06.74 you see as it get after its kind, 00:19:06.78\00:19:08.24 every raven after its kind, 00:19:08.31\00:19:10.08 the ostrich, the short-eared owl, 00:19:10.11\00:19:12.45 the sea gulls, and the hawk after its kind, the little owl, 00:19:12.48\00:19:16.38 and the fisher owl, and the screech owl, 00:19:16.42\00:19:19.69 the white owl, the jackdaw, and the carrion vulture, 00:19:19.72\00:19:24.06 the stork, the heron after its kind, 00:19:24.09\00:19:26.83 the hoopoe, or the hoopie, and the bat." 00:19:26.86\00:19:29.70 Don't eat any bats please. 00:19:29.73\00:19:31.37 So, these are the animals and then notice that 00:19:31.40\00:19:33.87 they have been named specifically, 00:19:33.90\00:19:36.07 so we don't have any guidance beyond that. 00:19:36.10\00:19:39.37 So the unclean birds are the ones 00:19:39.41\00:19:40.84 that are listed here specifically in Leviticus. 00:19:40.88\00:19:42.21 The unclean birds after, and after their kind. 00:19:42.24\00:19:44.65 Good, absolutely. 00:19:44.68\00:19:46.01 I want to remind you to send in your questions 00:19:46.05\00:19:48.72 for our Bible panel. 00:19:48.75\00:19:50.09 We will answer them on an upcoming program. 00:19:50.12\00:19:51.62 You can text them to 618-228-3975. 00:19:51.69\00:19:56.36 That number again is 618-228-3975, 00:19:56.39\00:20:00.16 or you can email your questions, 00:20:00.20\00:20:02.60 that address is BibleQA@3abn.org 00:20:02.63\00:20:07.90 That's BibleQA@3abn.org 00:20:07.94\00:20:11.61 We would love to take your questions 00:20:11.67\00:20:13.81 on an upcoming program. 00:20:13.84\00:20:15.18 Pastor Ryan, we're coming to you. 00:20:15.24\00:20:17.05 My question is from 1 Thessalonians 4:14, 00:20:17.08\00:20:21.18 "Who is he bringing back with him? 00:20:21.22\00:20:23.65 If those saved are in the graves, 00:20:23.69\00:20:26.15 how can they be in the grave and be in heaven with God 00:20:26.19\00:20:29.02 at the same time? 00:20:29.06\00:20:30.89 It says he brings back those who sleep in Jesus," 00:20:30.93\00:20:34.40 submitted by Healing Touch. 00:20:34.46\00:20:36.80 Okay, well I appreciate 00:20:36.83\00:20:38.20 whoever submitted this question. 00:20:38.23\00:20:39.57 It's a great question. 00:20:39.60\00:20:40.94 But I just want just to make just in your question, 00:20:40.97\00:20:43.87 I noticed there's a word you added 00:20:43.91\00:20:45.24 that's actually not in the text. 00:20:45.27\00:20:46.78 So you said that he says, 00:20:46.81\00:20:49.14 "He brings back those who sleep in Jesus 00:20:49.18\00:20:52.08 or brings back with Him." 00:20:52.11\00:20:53.52 So if we go to the text here, notice what... 00:20:53.55\00:20:55.08 I'm gonna actually go to 1 Thessalonians 4. 00:20:55.15\00:20:57.19 I'm gonna start reading in verse 13, 00:20:57.22\00:20:58.62 notice what it actually says. 00:20:58.65\00:21:00.16 It says, "But I do not want you to be ignorant, brethren, 00:21:00.19\00:21:02.52 concerning those who have fallen asleep, 00:21:02.56\00:21:05.29 lest you sorrow as others who have no hope." 00:21:05.33\00:21:08.03 That he's addressing this issue because the church at the time, 00:21:08.06\00:21:10.87 in this case is the church Thessalonica, 00:21:10.90\00:21:13.23 they had begun sorrowing in the idea that 00:21:13.27\00:21:15.07 they had loved ones who believed in the Lord 00:21:15.10\00:21:16.87 who would put their trust in the Lord, 00:21:16.91\00:21:18.24 but they had already went to sleep 00:21:18.27\00:21:19.61 and Jesus hadn't been buried. 00:21:19.64\00:21:21.14 And so Paul was doing 00:21:21.18\00:21:22.51 all this talk about resurrection 00:21:22.54\00:21:23.91 and Christ coming back for His people 00:21:23.95\00:21:25.48 and now they're saying, "Wow, wow, wait a second, 00:21:25.51\00:21:26.92 if we're going to meet the Lord in the air, 00:21:26.95\00:21:28.35 what about our loved ones who are in the grave?" 00:21:28.38\00:21:30.29 And so that's why Paul says, 00:21:30.32\00:21:31.65 "Look, I don't want you to be eager on this, 00:21:31.72\00:21:33.05 let me clarify it." 00:21:33.09\00:21:34.42 And so verse 14 is the one in question. 00:21:34.46\00:21:36.42 He says, "For if we believe that Jesus died and rose again, 00:21:36.46\00:21:39.63 notice how Jesus died and He rose again, 00:21:39.66\00:21:41.90 resurrection involved, 00:21:41.93\00:21:43.40 even so God will not bring back with Him, 00:21:43.43\00:21:46.53 but even so God will bring with Him 00:21:46.57\00:21:49.17 those who sleep in Jesus." 00:21:49.20\00:21:51.21 So they're not in heaven, they're asleep in Jesus. 00:21:51.24\00:21:53.31 Now how do we know that Paul's saying this, 00:21:53.34\00:21:55.08 and what he means by this? 00:21:55.11\00:21:56.44 Continue reading, verse 15, 00:21:56.48\00:21:58.15 "For this we say to you by the word of the Lord, 00:21:58.18\00:22:00.18 that we who are alive and remain 00:22:00.22\00:22:02.82 until the coming of the Lord 00:22:02.85\00:22:04.29 will by no means precede those who are asleep." 00:22:04.32\00:22:07.46 He's saying that we're not gonna go before them 00:22:07.49\00:22:09.29 because that was their idea. 00:22:09.32\00:22:10.66 We're going to leave and go to heaven 00:22:10.69\00:22:12.06 and our dead loved ones who died in Christ, 00:22:12.09\00:22:14.00 they're gonna be left in the graves. 00:22:14.00\00:22:15.33 He said, " No, no, we're not gonna go before them, 00:22:15.40\00:22:17.07 they're gonna be going with us." 00:22:17.10\00:22:18.60 How do we know that? 00:22:18.67\00:22:20.00 Notice those famous verses starting in verse 16. 00:22:20.04\00:22:22.87 It says, "For the Lord Himself will descend 00:22:22.90\00:22:24.47 from heaven with a shout, 00:22:24.51\00:22:25.84 with the voice of an archangel," 00:22:25.87\00:22:27.21 this is the Second Coming," and with the trumpet of God, 00:22:27.24\00:22:29.41 "and, here it is, 00:22:29.44\00:22:30.78 "The dead in Christ will rise first." 00:22:30.81\00:22:33.48 They don't go to heaven before us. 00:22:33.52\00:22:35.22 We don't go to heaven before them. 00:22:35.25\00:22:36.79 How do we know? 00:22:36.82\00:22:38.19 Verse 17, "Then we who are alive 00:22:38.22\00:22:40.09 and remain shall be caught up together 00:22:40.12\00:22:43.06 with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air." 00:22:43.09\00:22:45.86 And, thus, and then at that point, 00:22:45.89\00:22:48.66 we shall always be with the Lord. 00:22:48.70\00:22:51.17 So that's what this is mean, 00:22:51.20\00:22:52.57 it's not meaning that God is bringing saints with them, 00:22:52.60\00:22:55.10 with Him back from heaven, they're asleep in the grave 00:22:55.14\00:22:57.57 and He means He's going to take them 00:22:57.61\00:22:59.21 with Him when we all return back to the kingdom of God. 00:22:59.24\00:23:02.81 Amen. Very clear. 00:23:02.84\00:23:04.18 Thank you. 00:23:04.21\00:23:05.55 Staying with the theme of the state of the dead, 00:23:05.58\00:23:06.92 Pastor John, "Where is Abraham right now?" 00:23:06.95\00:23:10.32 This question stems from the parable 00:23:10.35\00:23:12.29 of the rich man and Lazarus, 00:23:12.32\00:23:13.72 of course, from Luke chapter 16. 00:23:13.76\00:23:15.39 This is from Itza in Florida. 00:23:15.46\00:23:18.16 Well, Genesis 25:7-8 gives us a direct answer. 00:23:18.23\00:23:22.73 Genesis 25:7-8, the Bible says, 00:23:22.76\00:23:25.97 "This is the sum of the years of Abraham's life 00:23:26.00\00:23:28.60 which he lived, one hundred and seventy-five years." 00:23:28.64\00:23:33.48 Verse 8, "Then Abraham breathed his last 00:23:33.51\00:23:36.75 and died in a good old age, 00:23:36.78\00:23:39.25 an old man and full of years, 00:23:39.28\00:23:41.88 and was gathered to his people." 00:23:41.92\00:23:44.35 So Abraham died and was gathered to his people. 00:23:44.39\00:23:46.79 When you find out what that means, 00:23:46.82\00:23:49.16 is synonymous when the Bible talks about the kings 00:23:49.19\00:23:51.26 and they rested with their fathers 00:23:51.29\00:23:52.63 and they were buried with their fathers. 00:23:52.66\00:23:54.56 So Abraham is in the grave 00:23:54.56\00:23:55.90 waiting for the coming of the Lord. 00:23:55.93\00:23:57.67 The parable of the rich man and Lazarus 00:23:57.70\00:23:59.33 as they pointed out is just that. 00:23:59.37\00:24:01.44 It's a parable of the rich man and Lazarus. 00:24:01.47\00:24:04.87 When the parable was given, Lazarus literally wasn't dead, 00:24:04.91\00:24:08.68 and you find in the parable itself in Luke 16, 00:24:08.74\00:24:11.91 this imagery which was, 00:24:11.95\00:24:13.65 which was a lesson that the Lord was communicating 00:24:13.68\00:24:16.02 to the Jews who had a belief that was affected. 00:24:16.05\00:24:19.99 Their minds were affected that 00:24:20.02\00:24:22.26 since they were the children of Abraham, 00:24:22.32\00:24:24.56 we definitely have preference to being saved. 00:24:24.59\00:24:27.23 You find in John 8:33, this ideology. 00:24:27.23\00:24:30.47 When Jesus talked about they were in bondage to sin. 00:24:30.50\00:24:33.13 And they answered Him, "We are Abraham's descendants 00:24:33.17\00:24:36.10 and have never been in bondage to anyone. 00:24:36.14\00:24:38.84 How can you say you will be made free?" 00:24:38.87\00:24:42.11 They looked at Abraham as, you know, 00:24:42.14\00:24:43.48 we're Abraham's children, we've got the right. 00:24:43.51\00:24:45.21 Well, the Lord made it very clear in Romans 9:6, 00:24:45.28\00:24:48.68 they that are of Israel are not all Israel, 00:24:48.75\00:24:51.29 they were Hebrews going into Egypt, 00:24:51.32\00:24:53.66 Israelites coming out, 00:24:53.69\00:24:55.19 and Abraham did not give them preference 00:24:55.22\00:24:57.26 because the Bible makes it very, very clear 00:24:57.29\00:24:58.66 in Acts Chapter 10 that, verse 12, 00:24:58.69\00:25:02.66 "Nor is their salvation in any other, 00:25:02.70\00:25:04.63 for there is no other name under heaven 00:25:04.67\00:25:06.97 given among men by which we must be saved." 00:25:07.00\00:25:10.14 So Abraham is in his grave waiting just like Ryan 00:25:10.17\00:25:12.81 just pointed out 00:25:12.84\00:25:14.18 for the resurrection of the righteous. 00:25:14.21\00:25:15.81 And Jesus is the only one that gives us preferential access 00:25:15.84\00:25:20.52 by His righteousness to eternity. 00:25:20.55\00:25:23.22 Amen. Thank you. 00:25:23.25\00:25:24.59 Pastor Ryan, we're coming back to you, 00:25:24.62\00:25:26.45 talking about Jesus being the one 00:25:26.49\00:25:28.09 who's saving us. 00:25:28.12\00:25:29.49 "How are people saved before Jesus?" 00:25:29.52\00:25:32.19 This question comes from Erling in Sweden. 00:25:32.26\00:25:35.00 Yeah, absolutely. 00:25:35.03\00:25:36.36 That's a great question and you know the answer 00:25:36.40\00:25:37.80 to that question is simple 00:25:37.83\00:25:39.67 and exciting in the fact that 00:25:39.70\00:25:41.04 the Bible makes it clear that God does not change, right? 00:25:41.07\00:25:43.84 And so, I'm gonna see here that 00:25:43.87\00:25:45.61 very clearly there's clear biblical evidence 00:25:45.64\00:25:47.64 that the people before Christ 00:25:47.68\00:25:49.48 were saved in the same people, in the same way that 00:25:49.51\00:25:51.75 the people after Christ were saved, 00:25:51.78\00:25:53.28 the same way that you and I are saved, 00:25:53.31\00:25:54.92 that is by grace through faith. 00:25:54.95\00:25:56.92 And you say, "Ryan, how can you prove that?" 00:25:56.95\00:25:59.09 If you've never read the 11th Chapter in Hebrews, 00:25:59.12\00:26:01.56 please go read the 11th Chapter of Hebrews, 00:26:01.62\00:26:03.83 it's called the Great Faith Chapter 00:26:03.86\00:26:05.76 because it talks about how these individuals 00:26:05.79\00:26:08.80 they came to the Lord, 00:26:08.83\00:26:10.17 they were in relationship with the Lord, 00:26:10.20\00:26:12.07 and they were ultimately saved by the Lord, why? 00:26:12.10\00:26:14.74 Because of their faith 00:26:14.77\00:26:16.10 and so you'll hear this repeated 00:26:16.14\00:26:17.47 over and over in the 11th Chapter of Hebrews. 00:26:17.51\00:26:19.84 It says, "By faith Abel, you know, did this. 00:26:19.87\00:26:23.21 By faith Enoch walked with the Lord. 00:26:23.24\00:26:25.35 By faith Noah built the ark. 00:26:25.38\00:26:27.22 By faith Abraham, by faith Sara, by faith Isaac, 00:26:27.25\00:26:29.22 and Jacob and Joseph and Moses." 00:26:29.25\00:26:32.02 Every single one of these individuals, 00:26:32.09\00:26:33.72 they had to put their faith and their trust in the Lord. 00:26:33.76\00:26:36.89 And so while, yes, the sacrificial system 00:26:36.93\00:26:39.03 was implemented in the Old Testament, 00:26:39.06\00:26:40.76 it was a foreshadowing to that of work in 00:26:40.80\00:26:43.13 which Christ would do, 00:26:43.16\00:26:44.50 but they still had to go forward 00:26:44.53\00:26:46.60 into that sanctuary service into those sanctuary actions 00:26:46.63\00:26:50.87 and choices and sacrifices, by faith, 00:26:50.91\00:26:53.98 they had to trust in the word of the Lord, 00:26:54.01\00:26:56.28 and so it was by faith, and because of their faith, 00:26:56.31\00:26:59.11 they were saved by grace. 00:26:59.15\00:27:01.02 And again I just have to mention here 00:27:01.05\00:27:02.88 Ephesians 2:8-9, 00:27:02.92\00:27:05.52 it's one of my favorite texts. 00:27:05.59\00:27:06.92 It says, "For by grace you have been saved, 00:27:06.96\00:27:09.16 again, through faith." 00:27:09.19\00:27:11.09 That faith chapter, by faith Abraham, 00:27:11.13\00:27:13.29 by faith Noah, by faith Moses. 00:27:13.33\00:27:15.26 Here it is, "For by grace 00:27:15.30\00:27:16.90 you have been saved through faith, 00:27:16.93\00:27:18.67 and that not of yourselves, it is the gift of God, 00:27:18.73\00:27:21.74 not of works, lest anyone should boast." 00:27:21.80\00:27:24.84 So how were they saved before? 00:27:24.87\00:27:26.27 They were saved by grace, 00:27:26.31\00:27:27.98 through their faith in their Lord. 00:27:28.01\00:27:30.11 Amen. Thank you so much. 00:27:30.15\00:27:32.15 Pastor Johnny, we're coming to you 00:27:32.21\00:27:33.55 and this one could be 00:27:33.58\00:27:34.92 a little bit of a controversial question. 00:27:34.95\00:27:36.75 "Can you please explain Deuteronomy 22:5?" 00:27:36.79\00:27:42.12 This comes from Terry in Minnesota. 00:27:42.16\00:27:44.59 Alrighty. 00:27:44.63\00:27:45.99 We'll go to Deuteronomy 32:5, and take a look... 00:27:46.03\00:27:50.20 22, Deuteronomy 22:5. 00:27:50.23\00:27:52.53 22:5. Yeah, sorry. 00:27:52.60\00:27:53.97 Go to Deuteronomy 22:5, let's go there and read it 00:27:54.00\00:27:58.17 because we have to get a thus saith the Lord 00:27:58.21\00:28:01.01 even on the Word of God, 00:28:01.04\00:28:03.58 22:5, you say? 00:28:03.61\00:28:04.95 Mm-hmm. Okay. 00:28:04.98\00:28:06.61 This is what the Bible says. 00:28:06.65\00:28:10.35 Verse 5, "A woman shall not wear anything 00:28:10.39\00:28:14.22 that pertains to a man, 00:28:14.26\00:28:16.76 nor shall a man put on a woman's garment, 00:28:16.79\00:28:19.83 for all who do so 00:28:19.86\00:28:21.53 are an abomination to the Lord your God." 00:28:21.56\00:28:25.63 And so, the question about Deuteronomy 22:5, 00:28:25.70\00:28:31.14 you know, I asked myself, 00:28:31.17\00:28:33.38 I've heard this verse used in different ways. 00:28:33.41\00:28:36.08 And normally, when it is brought up, 00:28:36.11\00:28:40.12 it's in reference to, can the women wear pants? 00:28:40.15\00:28:43.69 And I want to bring out to you, the fact that in those days, 00:28:43.72\00:28:48.32 the men did not wear pants either. 00:28:48.36\00:28:51.09 They wear, the women wear robes, 00:28:51.13\00:28:52.79 and the men wore robes. 00:28:52.83\00:28:55.13 So to use this verse to say women should not wear pants, 00:28:55.20\00:28:59.30 you're taking this out of context. 00:28:59.33\00:29:00.74 That's right. 00:29:00.77\00:29:02.10 And so, this is not rightly dividing the word of truth. 00:29:02.14\00:29:06.71 However, we have to look at what God is talking about here. 00:29:06.74\00:29:10.11 And when you look at the context 00:29:10.15\00:29:12.98 and the context of this scripture here. 00:29:13.01\00:29:17.45 It doesn't give us much to work with 00:29:17.49\00:29:19.22 and I've read many things concerning this. 00:29:19.25\00:29:21.79 And some say that even the way it is described, 00:29:21.82\00:29:25.66 it could not only, it may not only be 00:29:25.69\00:29:27.60 talking about what you wear as clothing, 00:29:27.66\00:29:30.03 but also what you wear beyond clothing, 00:29:30.07\00:29:32.77 including jewelry, including the word 00:29:32.80\00:29:36.91 is even used in reference to weapons. 00:29:36.94\00:29:39.54 This Hebrew word, 00:29:39.57\00:29:41.04 and so it brings a whole message 00:29:41.08\00:29:43.91 here about the God... 00:29:43.95\00:29:46.08 The message here, God wants a distinction 00:29:46.11\00:29:49.42 between who is a man, and who is a woman. 00:29:49.45\00:29:52.19 And the way we dress, 00:29:52.22\00:29:54.72 the way we behave ourselves 00:29:54.76\00:29:56.89 should identify us as a man or a woman. 00:29:56.93\00:30:00.80 Now looking at this, it says, 00:30:00.83\00:30:05.13 "For all who do so are an abomination 00:30:05.17\00:30:07.50 to the Lord." 00:30:07.54\00:30:08.90 Another aspect of this was brought out in that, 00:30:08.94\00:30:11.51 they're saying, "Well back in those days, 00:30:11.54\00:30:13.91 there were pagan rituals that were done in 00:30:13.94\00:30:17.31 which the women would dress as soldiers, 00:30:17.35\00:30:21.45 and they would do these rituals" 00:30:21.48\00:30:24.32 And that's what God is referring to. 00:30:24.35\00:30:26.52 It's kind of difficult to put all this in here, 00:30:26.55\00:30:29.22 it could be a possibility that it's speaking about that, 00:30:29.26\00:30:33.50 but the fact remains that there should be distinction 00:30:33.53\00:30:37.90 in the way that a man dresses and a woman dresses. 00:30:37.93\00:30:41.17 Today, if you go back to the pants issue today, 00:30:41.20\00:30:44.21 there are men's pants and women's pants. 00:30:44.24\00:30:45.97 If a man wears a woman's pants, 00:30:46.04\00:30:47.91 they are, they're made a certain way, 00:30:47.94\00:30:49.71 they're not supposed to fit a man, you see. 00:30:49.74\00:30:51.88 So I encourage you to take this into consideration, 00:30:51.91\00:30:55.65 this is not referring to women wearing pants. 00:30:55.68\00:30:59.72 Again, take a look at the Scripture 00:30:59.75\00:31:02.36 and consider the fact, men wore robes, 00:31:02.39\00:31:04.86 women wore robes, and even back in those days, 00:31:04.89\00:31:07.13 the way we see things depicted, 00:31:07.13\00:31:09.03 it says the men wore shorter robes 00:31:09.06\00:31:11.47 than the women. 00:31:11.50\00:31:12.83 So, let's be careful with how we use God's word. 00:31:12.87\00:31:16.47 No cross dressing. No cross dressing. 00:31:16.50\00:31:17.84 Yeah, absolutely cross dressing and blurring between the sexes 00:31:17.87\00:31:21.18 as far as the distinction. 00:31:21.21\00:31:22.54 That's right. 00:31:22.61\00:31:23.95 Pastor Ryan, we're coming back to you. 00:31:23.98\00:31:25.31 "I'm still trying to decide 00:31:25.35\00:31:26.68 if your interpretation of this subject is correct, 00:31:26.72\00:31:28.95 this is Philippians 1:23 00:31:28.98\00:31:31.59 where Paul is saying that 00:31:31.62\00:31:32.95 he desires to depart and be with Christ. 00:31:32.99\00:31:35.12 But, and the other one that is confusing is 00:31:35.19\00:31:37.23 where he says to be absent from the body 00:31:37.26\00:31:38.86 is to be present with the Lord. 00:31:38.89\00:31:40.36 Could you please shed some light on these two verses 00:31:40.40\00:31:43.13 which seem to completely refute what you are teaching?" 00:31:43.16\00:31:46.97 That comes from Eleanor. Yeah, absolutely. 00:31:47.00\00:31:48.34 So let's... 00:31:48.37\00:31:49.70 We'll start with reading Philippians 1:23, 00:31:49.74\00:31:51.67 the Bible says, 00:31:51.71\00:31:53.04 "For I am hard-pressed between the two, 00:31:53.07\00:31:55.28 having a desire to depart and be with Christ, 00:31:55.31\00:31:58.11 which is far better." 00:31:58.15\00:31:59.48 So, this is just simply Paul saying, 00:31:59.51\00:32:00.92 "Look I desire to depart from this life, 00:32:00.95\00:32:03.42 from this body and be with Christ," 00:32:03.45\00:32:04.82 right? 00:32:04.85\00:32:06.22 But to understand with his language here, 00:32:06.25\00:32:07.82 we have to go into 2 Corinthians 5:8, 00:32:07.86\00:32:10.89 which was the second passage in question here. 00:32:10.93\00:32:13.16 And, you know, in verse 8 there, 00:32:13.19\00:32:14.73 a lot of people read that, you know, which says, 00:32:14.76\00:32:16.20 "We are confident, 00:32:16.23\00:32:17.87 yes, well pleased rather to be absent 00:32:17.90\00:32:20.50 from the body and to be present with the Lord." 00:32:20.54\00:32:22.57 And so they'll take that text, and, of course eisegetically, 00:32:22.64\00:32:25.61 they'll say, "Oh, that's telling me that, 00:32:25.64\00:32:27.08 you know, as soon as we die, we depart from this, 00:32:27.11\00:32:29.74 our spirit or our soul departs from this body, 00:32:29.78\00:32:32.28 and it's immediately in the presence of the Lord." 00:32:32.35\00:32:34.25 That is not what Paul says here, 00:32:34.28\00:32:35.72 you have to add that into it for in order to say that. 00:32:35.75\00:32:38.79 What he's actually saying is, 00:32:38.82\00:32:40.16 he's confident he's willing to be absent 00:32:40.19\00:32:42.56 from the body and present with the Lord, 00:32:42.59\00:32:43.96 but does that mean he's talking about 00:32:43.99\00:32:45.33 some translucent, you know, 00:32:45.36\00:32:47.13 intellectual or intelligent spirit 00:32:47.13\00:32:48.96 that's floating out, 00:32:49.00\00:32:50.33 you know, into the heavens to be with God? 00:32:50.37\00:32:51.83 Absolutely not. How do we clarify that? 00:32:51.87\00:32:53.80 The few verses before. 00:32:53.84\00:32:55.50 In fact, let's start there in verse 1 he says, 00:32:55.54\00:32:58.57 this is 2 Corinthians Chapter 5, 00:32:58.61\00:33:00.14 beginning with verse 1. 00:33:00.18\00:33:01.51 He says, "For we know that 00:33:01.54\00:33:02.98 if our earthly house, this tent," 00:33:03.01\00:33:04.51 referring to his body as a tent, 00:33:04.55\00:33:06.18 and He often did this referring to His body 00:33:06.25\00:33:07.98 as the temple of the Holy Spirit, 00:33:08.02\00:33:09.82 a tent, a house, so He's referring to this body 00:33:09.85\00:33:12.69 as a house, a tent. 00:33:12.72\00:33:14.06 He says, "Is destroyed," He says, we have built... 00:33:14.09\00:33:16.62 "We have a building from God, 00:33:16.66\00:33:18.46 a house not made with hands 00:33:18.49\00:33:20.26 eternal in the heavens." 00:33:20.30\00:33:21.60 What Paul is referencing here 00:33:21.63\00:33:22.96 is what he also references in Philippians 3:20, 00:33:23.00\00:33:26.33 where he's talking about, 00:33:26.37\00:33:27.70 you know, at the Second Coming of Christ, 00:33:27.74\00:33:29.30 he's talking about how Christ will change 00:33:29.34\00:33:30.87 and this is verse 21. 00:33:30.91\00:33:32.57 Philippians 3:20, he says, who's... 00:33:32.61\00:33:34.98 "Christ who shall change our vial body to be made 00:33:35.01\00:33:38.08 fashion like into His glorious body." 00:33:38.11\00:33:40.45 So there's not some, you know, spirit or soul or ghost 00:33:40.48\00:33:43.32 that's gonna float into the abyss somewhere 00:33:43.35\00:33:45.19 in the presence of the Lord. 00:33:45.22\00:33:46.55 Paul is talking about 00:33:46.59\00:33:47.92 how he wants this flesh earthly body, 00:33:47.96\00:33:49.89 this broken down, you know, carnal body, 00:33:49.92\00:33:52.49 where he wants to be liberated from it. 00:33:52.53\00:33:54.00 He wants that new heavenly body, 00:33:54.03\00:33:56.56 but you know, the key to understanding 00:33:56.60\00:33:58.37 this passage to me is verse 4, verse 4, so 2 Corinthians 5:4, 00:33:58.40\00:34:03.10 notice what he says here, 00:34:03.14\00:34:04.47 again talking about the tent, our body as a temple. 00:34:04.51\00:34:07.34 He says, "For we who are in this tent groan, right, 00:34:07.38\00:34:12.41 being burdened, not because we want to be unclothed, 00:34:12.45\00:34:15.82 but further clothed," that's the new body, 00:34:15.88\00:34:18.29 "further clothed, that mortality 00:34:18.32\00:34:20.56 may be swallowed up by life." 00:34:20.59\00:34:22.92 When did Paul believe that mortality would be 00:34:22.96\00:34:26.19 swallowed up of life or immortality? 00:34:26.23\00:34:28.33 That's the question. 00:34:28.36\00:34:29.70 And many people assume that he says, you know, 00:34:29.73\00:34:31.30 as soon as we die we immediately go to heaven, 00:34:31.33\00:34:33.20 but Paul confirms in 1 Corinthians, 00:34:33.23\00:34:35.20 again we were in second, 00:34:35.24\00:34:36.57 we're just reading from 2 Corinthians, 00:34:36.60\00:34:37.94 if you go back one letter to 1 Corinthians verses 15... 00:34:37.97\00:34:40.81 Chapter 15, 1 Corinthians 15:51-53, 00:34:40.84\00:34:45.68 Paul confirms when we receive immortality, 00:34:45.71\00:34:48.55 when we receive immortality 00:34:48.58\00:34:50.72 where we can be in the presence of God 00:34:50.75\00:34:52.12 and it says there, 00:34:52.15\00:34:53.49 and I'm just going to read verse 53, 00:34:53.52\00:34:55.59 "For this corruptible must put on incorruption, 00:34:55.62\00:34:58.43 and this mortal must put on immortality." 00:34:58.46\00:35:01.00 When will that be? 00:35:01.03\00:35:02.36 Of course that will be 00:35:02.40\00:35:03.80 when the trumpet is sounded and Christ comes back 00:35:03.83\00:35:06.30 at the Second Coming. 00:35:06.33\00:35:07.67 Amen. Thank you so much. 00:35:07.70\00:35:09.67 Pastor John, this question is from Samantha in Virginia. 00:35:09.70\00:35:13.61 "Where are we supposed to be? 00:35:13.64\00:35:15.64 I heard all my life about running to the rocks, 00:35:15.71\00:35:17.81 don't stop, just go and leave, 00:35:17.85\00:35:19.58 of course this would be right at the Second Coming. 00:35:19.61\00:35:21.78 How will we know where to go? 00:35:21.82\00:35:23.39 And what if you can't run physically? 00:35:23.42\00:35:26.12 What then?" 00:35:26.15\00:35:28.99 Well, the Bible doesn't speak of us and be in, 00:35:29.02\00:35:31.53 that we have to be in any particular place. 00:35:31.56\00:35:34.20 You know the Bible, the only thing it talks about 00:35:34.20\00:35:36.00 is not a physical place but a spiritual place. 00:35:36.03\00:35:37.70 "If anyone is in Christ, 00:35:37.73\00:35:40.20 he or she is a new creation," 2 Corinthians 5:17. 00:35:40.24\00:35:43.94 So when you look at Revelation 6:14-17, 00:35:43.97\00:35:46.81 there are two groups that are mentioned there, 00:35:46.84\00:35:48.21 those running to the rocks and the mountains, 00:35:48.24\00:35:50.25 those, and it says, "Hide us from the face of Him 00:35:50.28\00:35:53.92 that sits on the throne 00:35:53.95\00:35:55.28 and from the wrath of the lamb! 00:35:55.32\00:35:56.65 For the great day of His wrath has come, 00:35:56.69\00:35:58.02 and who shall be able to stand?" 00:35:58.05\00:35:59.75 So it doesn't speak about us 00:35:59.79\00:36:01.19 having to be in any particular place, 00:36:01.22\00:36:03.46 so I wouldn't say well, you know, 00:36:03.49\00:36:04.83 I got to be in the country, I have to be in the city. 00:36:04.86\00:36:07.96 People have heard all their lives that 00:36:07.96\00:36:10.37 they have to run to the rocks and the mountains, 00:36:10.40\00:36:12.17 I think that where they may have received 00:36:12.20\00:36:13.87 that impression is during the Dark Ages, 00:36:13.90\00:36:16.34 the church was preserved in the munitions of the rocks. 00:36:16.37\00:36:19.24 Many of the Christians, Waldensians, 00:36:19.31\00:36:20.71 one of the most famous ones or familiar ones. 00:36:20.74\00:36:23.45 They hid into the caves and the rocks 00:36:23.48\00:36:25.75 and the Lord preserved them. 00:36:25.78\00:36:27.38 The Bible says, "The earth opened its mouth 00:36:27.42\00:36:29.22 and helped the woman." 00:36:29.25\00:36:30.59 And when you think about that in the physical context, 00:36:30.62\00:36:33.22 the mouth of the earth, sometimes the caves and rocks, 00:36:33.25\00:36:36.16 where the church was hidden, 00:36:36.19\00:36:37.53 where people were hidden from the, 00:36:37.56\00:36:39.46 those that were in the valley seeking their death. 00:36:39.53\00:36:42.46 But when it comes to where we should be 00:36:42.50\00:36:45.10 the safest place to be is in Christ. 00:36:45.13\00:36:47.17 Amen. 00:36:47.20\00:36:48.54 There are those who have to be in the cities. 00:36:48.57\00:36:50.34 What we do is we tend to create this ideology that 00:36:50.37\00:36:53.11 if you're in this country, you're safe. 00:36:53.14\00:36:55.34 If you're in the city, you're lost. 00:36:55.38\00:36:57.08 Well, Enoch was one 00:36:57.11\00:36:58.45 who according to his life practice, 00:36:58.48\00:37:01.52 he lived in the country but he worked in the city, 00:37:01.55\00:37:04.22 and he was, his heart was just turned 00:37:04.25\00:37:06.65 against the evil he saw in the cities. 00:37:06.69\00:37:08.62 And such is the case 00:37:08.66\00:37:09.99 when a person is has the indwelling Christ. 00:37:10.03\00:37:12.43 But, if you're thinking about a place to be... 00:37:12.46\00:37:14.83 There will come a time 00:37:14.83\00:37:16.16 when we should get out of the city 00:37:16.20\00:37:17.53 just for the sake of the fact that 00:37:17.57\00:37:18.93 I think that cities are a hotbed of iniquity. 00:37:18.97\00:37:21.94 When you're in the country that God made 00:37:21.97\00:37:23.81 you have a better chance 00:37:23.84\00:37:25.17 of having a greater relationship, 00:37:25.21\00:37:27.38 but don't seek to be in any place 00:37:27.41\00:37:28.94 other than in Christ 00:37:28.98\00:37:30.58 if you're looking for safety in the time of the end. 00:37:30.61\00:37:32.85 Amen. Thank you. 00:37:32.91\00:37:34.78 Pastor Johnny, coming back to you, 00:37:34.82\00:37:36.52 "Which Jerusalem 00:37:36.58\00:37:38.25 is Isaiah 65:17-20 referring to?" 00:37:38.29\00:37:43.29 And I would pronounce 00:37:43.32\00:37:44.66 the person's name who send this in, 00:37:44.69\00:37:46.03 but I'm not sure I can, 00:37:46.09\00:37:47.40 so thank you for sending in this question but, 00:37:47.46\00:37:48.80 which Jerusalem 00:37:48.83\00:37:50.17 is Isaiah 65:17-20 referring to? 00:37:50.20\00:37:54.90 Very good. Isaiah 65:17-20. 00:37:54.94\00:37:59.87 This is a scripture that sometimes confuses people. 00:37:59.91\00:38:04.21 Because it begins, "For behold, 00:38:04.25\00:38:06.41 I create new heavens and a new earth, 00:38:06.45\00:38:08.65 and the former shall not be remembered 00:38:08.68\00:38:10.95 or come to mind." 00:38:10.99\00:38:12.75 This right away we think, okay, Revelation Chapter 21. 00:38:12.79\00:38:16.79 Yes, Revelation 21 is quoting Isaiah 65. 00:38:16.83\00:38:21.46 But which Jerusalem is it talking about here? 00:38:21.50\00:38:24.53 As you read all Revelation, 00:38:24.57\00:38:26.67 I mean, Isaiah 65:17 and onward, 00:38:26.70\00:38:29.47 you will notice wonderful descriptions of blessings 00:38:29.50\00:38:32.54 the Lord promised the people of Israel. 00:38:32.57\00:38:35.38 And primarily He refers to the Jerusalem 00:38:35.41\00:38:39.68 that we know today as Jerusalem, 00:38:39.71\00:38:43.05 not the New Jerusalem 00:38:43.08\00:38:44.55 that the Lord will create after sin 00:38:44.59\00:38:46.76 has been done away with. 00:38:46.79\00:38:48.12 There are some elements that appeared to be the same. 00:38:48.16\00:38:51.83 But when you continue reading 00:38:51.86\00:38:53.83 and which I will do at this moment, 00:38:53.86\00:38:55.70 notice how it lets you know that 00:38:55.73\00:38:58.13 this is before sin is done away with. 00:38:58.17\00:39:00.97 Notice what it says, verse 18 and onward, 00:39:01.00\00:39:03.20 "But be glad and rejoice forever in 00:39:03.27\00:39:05.71 what I create. 00:39:05.74\00:39:07.08 For behold, I create Jerusalem 00:39:07.11\00:39:08.44 as a rejoicing, and her people a joy. 00:39:08.48\00:39:11.55 I will rejoice in Jerusalem, and joy in My people, 00:39:11.58\00:39:14.95 the voice of weeping 00:39:14.98\00:39:16.35 shall no longer be heard in her, 00:39:16.38\00:39:18.15 nor the voice of crying." 00:39:18.19\00:39:19.52 Why? 00:39:19.55\00:39:20.89 Because the Lord, if they had, they had chosen to be faithful. 00:39:20.92\00:39:24.69 The Lord was gonna bring like a heaven upon the earth, 00:39:24.73\00:39:28.26 even before sin has done away with. 00:39:28.30\00:39:30.33 Now notice, " No more shall an infant from there live 00:39:30.37\00:39:34.20 but a few days, nor an old man 00:39:34.24\00:39:36.47 who has not fulfilled his days." 00:39:36.54\00:39:39.54 In other words he will live to an old age. 00:39:39.61\00:39:41.74 "For the child shall die one hundred years old, 00:39:41.78\00:39:46.25 but the sinner being one hundred years old 00:39:46.28\00:39:48.88 shall be accursed." 00:39:48.92\00:39:50.25 So you see it is still mentioning sinners. 00:39:50.29\00:39:52.22 This is talking about the Jerusalem, 00:39:52.25\00:39:53.82 had they remained faithful, 00:39:53.86\00:39:55.19 the Lord was gonna bless them in a wonderful way, 00:39:55.22\00:39:57.63 but they chose not to. 00:39:57.66\00:39:58.99 Now some of the elements here, you can look at 00:39:59.03\00:40:00.93 and that will be like the New Jerusalem. 00:40:00.96\00:40:03.10 Amen. We have dual application. 00:40:03.16\00:40:05.00 We see a lot in the Word of God. 00:40:05.03\00:40:06.37 So that's powerful. Pastor John. 00:40:06.43\00:40:08.67 "Pastor John, I would like to know, 00:40:08.70\00:40:10.17 how do I know what is God's will, 00:40:10.21\00:40:12.61 or the right thing to do 00:40:12.67\00:40:14.31 when I am at a crossroad?" 00:40:14.34\00:40:16.34 This is from Sheena. 00:40:16.38\00:40:17.98 I could understand why that is the concern, 00:40:18.01\00:40:19.91 1 John 2:17, the Bible says, 00:40:19.95\00:40:22.58 "And the world is passing away and the lust of it 00:40:22.62\00:40:24.29 but he who does 00:40:24.32\00:40:25.65 the will of God abides forever." 00:40:25.69\00:40:28.06 This is a very important aspect. 00:40:28.09\00:40:29.92 But what I want to bring out, I'll bring out a few passages 00:40:29.96\00:40:32.69 and I'll zero in on 00:40:32.73\00:40:34.60 what the Bible says concerning God's will. 00:40:34.63\00:40:36.80 First of all, Romans 12:2, we can't just find out 00:40:36.83\00:40:40.50 what God's will is and then do it, 00:40:40.54\00:40:43.07 because then that'll be salvation by works. 00:40:43.10\00:40:45.51 We'll say as Paul says in Ephesians 2:8-9, 00:40:45.54\00:40:48.58 "Not of works, lest anyone should boast." 00:40:48.61\00:40:50.55 So we could say, "Well, hey, I discover God's will 00:40:50.58\00:40:52.68 and I'm gonna do God's will." 00:40:52.71\00:40:54.25 The Bible makes it clear, 00:40:54.28\00:40:55.75 one of the things that we cannot do 00:40:55.78\00:40:57.39 is we cannot do God's will with the mindset that 00:40:57.42\00:41:00.36 we had in the former walk of life, 00:41:00.39\00:41:03.59 the flesh, the lust, the worldly ways, 00:41:03.63\00:41:06.96 'cause Romans 12:2 says, 00:41:07.00\00:41:08.40 "Do not be conformed to this world, 00:41:08.43\00:41:09.83 but be transformed by the renewing of your mind 00:41:09.86\00:41:12.80 that you may prove what is that good 00:41:12.83\00:41:14.64 and acceptable and perfect will of God." 00:41:14.67\00:41:17.41 So the first point 00:41:17.44\00:41:18.77 is you cannot discover God's will, 00:41:18.81\00:41:20.98 unless your mind has changed. 00:41:21.01\00:41:22.34 That's right. 00:41:22.38\00:41:23.71 And you can't accomplish God's will with the mind that 00:41:23.75\00:41:26.08 we already have, you can't be a physical aspect 00:41:26.11\00:41:29.45 but a spiritual aspect. 00:41:29.48\00:41:31.42 One of the things that we have to keep in mind 00:41:31.45\00:41:33.12 is as the world around us is falling apart 00:41:33.15\00:41:36.29 and things are not working out the way that we'd like it. 00:41:36.32\00:41:38.73 1 Thessalonians 5:18, Paul says, 00:41:38.76\00:41:41.26 "Don't be discouraged," 00:41:41.30\00:41:42.63 because you know Romans 8:28, 00:41:42.70\00:41:44.70 "All things work together for good to those who love God 00:41:44.73\00:41:46.90 and are called according to His purpose." 00:41:46.94\00:41:49.37 He says, "When it doesn't look like 00:41:49.44\00:41:50.77 it's going your way, in everything give thanks, 00:41:50.81\00:41:53.01 for this is the will of God 00:41:53.04\00:41:55.14 in Christ Jesus concerning you." 00:41:55.18\00:41:56.61 But then the last part of that aspect, 00:41:56.68\00:41:59.25 can I accomplish the will of God? 00:41:59.28\00:42:01.35 And the answer is no. 00:42:01.38\00:42:04.42 And here's the reason, why? 00:42:04.45\00:42:06.32 Philippians 2:13, "For it is God who works in you 00:42:06.35\00:42:10.99 both to will and to do of His good pleasure." 00:42:11.03\00:42:14.56 Allow Jesus coming, allow Jesus to come in, 00:42:14.60\00:42:17.80 and He will work out His will through your life. 00:42:17.83\00:42:20.60 Amen. Amen. Amen. 00:42:20.64\00:42:21.97 Thank you for that encouragement. 00:42:22.00\00:42:23.34 That's powerful. 00:42:23.37\00:42:24.71 Pastor Johnny, coming back to you. 00:42:24.74\00:42:26.11 "Can you please explain John 10:34-35? 00:42:26.14\00:42:29.88 What law says ye are gods, and who is Jesus referring to?" 00:42:29.91\00:42:34.75 This is from Anna. Very good. 00:42:34.78\00:42:36.92 Thank you, Anna, for sending your question. 00:42:36.95\00:42:38.85 We hope you continue to send them in. 00:42:38.89\00:42:41.06 John 10:34, 34-35? Yes. 00:42:41.09\00:42:45.03 "Jesus answered, "Is it not written in your law, 00:42:45.06\00:42:47.60 'I said, "You are gods"'? 00:42:47.60\00:42:49.06 If He called them gods, to whom the word of God came 00:42:49.10\00:42:51.90 and the Scripture cannot be broken." 00:42:51.93\00:42:54.94 It may be, you may be thrown off here 00:42:54.97\00:42:56.50 by the word law, but the word law, 00:42:56.54\00:43:00.08 nomos is used in the sense of referring 00:43:00.14\00:43:02.54 to the entire Old Testament. 00:43:02.61\00:43:05.25 And how do we know this? 00:43:05.28\00:43:06.88 Well, because when you go 00:43:06.92\00:43:09.68 to Psalm 82:6,` 00:43:09.72\00:43:13.92 this is where this scripture is. 00:43:13.96\00:43:15.89 It says, "I have said, 'Ye are gods, 00:43:15.96\00:43:19.19 and all of you are children of the Most High.'" 00:43:19.23\00:43:23.47 So you see this is a word that 00:43:23.50\00:43:25.70 is used in John 10, 00:43:25.73\00:43:27.87 in reference to the entire Old Testament, 00:43:27.90\00:43:30.27 it is not specifically sometimes you think 00:43:30.31\00:43:32.04 of the Pentateuch. 00:43:32.07\00:43:33.41 And you think this is normally 00:43:33.48\00:43:35.61 that's what you say that's the law, 00:43:35.64\00:43:37.01 but in this sense and it's used this word here 00:43:37.05\00:43:40.65 in John 10 is used in other places, 00:43:40.68\00:43:43.08 and it's again referring to the entire Old Testament, 00:43:43.12\00:43:47.26 and this is the law that is referring to. 00:43:47.29\00:43:49.62 I thought it was going to be another question, 00:43:49.66\00:43:51.26 but when I heard it but this is what, 00:43:51.29\00:43:53.76 this is what was asked. 00:43:53.80\00:43:55.10 Good job. Okay. 00:43:55.13\00:43:58.37 Ryan, Pastor Ryan. Sure. 00:43:58.40\00:43:59.90 "What can me and my family study 00:43:59.93\00:44:03.14 to become stronger in the Lord?" 00:44:03.17\00:44:05.07 This is from Jackie in Indiana. 00:44:05.11\00:44:06.78 So they want to become stronger. 00:44:06.81\00:44:08.14 Yeah. 00:44:08.18\00:44:09.51 Absolutely, I respect that question, Jackie. 00:44:09.54\00:44:10.88 Thank you so much. 00:44:10.91\00:44:12.25 You know, I think the first very clear 00:44:12.28\00:44:14.85 and overwhelming answer should always be the Bible. 00:44:14.88\00:44:17.92 Okay, the Bible, the Bible, the Bible. 00:44:17.95\00:44:20.99 That's all I can say is there's not a must emphasis 00:44:21.02\00:44:24.36 placed these days on the Bible that 00:44:24.39\00:44:25.73 we need to place that emphasis where it belongs. 00:44:25.76\00:44:28.43 You know, Jesus said in Matthew 4:4, 00:44:28.46\00:44:30.23 you know, "Man shall not live by bread alone 00:44:30.27\00:44:31.70 but by every word that proceeds from 00:44:31.73\00:44:33.30 the mouth of God." 00:44:33.34\00:44:34.67 And then tie that to what Jesus said in John 17:17, 00:44:34.70\00:44:37.64 "Sanctify them by thy truth, thy word is truth." 00:44:37.67\00:44:40.68 So obviously we want to go to the Bible. 00:44:40.71\00:44:43.35 Now, within the Bible, obviously I think, 00:44:43.41\00:44:46.08 Brother Dinzey, did a wonderful job earlier, 00:44:46.11\00:44:48.95 providing some counsel on where you might start 00:44:48.98\00:44:51.39 as you're studying, and your question was, 00:44:51.42\00:44:53.86 how do I become stronger in the Lord? 00:44:53.89\00:44:55.56 Well, to become stronger in the Lord, 00:44:55.59\00:44:57.33 you want to behold the Lord, 00:44:57.36\00:44:59.03 you want to behold Jesus Christ and His life. 00:44:59.06\00:45:01.36 And so I would recommend 00:45:01.40\00:45:02.76 within God's Word, within the Bible, 00:45:02.80\00:45:04.60 starting as Brother John said in the Book of John, 00:45:04.63\00:45:07.20 because I think John is a perfect book, 00:45:07.24\00:45:08.90 it's a very personal book, 00:45:08.94\00:45:10.44 not that none of the other books are personal, 00:45:10.47\00:45:11.81 but to me, the Gospel of John is just, 00:45:11.84\00:45:14.31 you know, it's written by the beloved disciple, 00:45:14.34\00:45:15.74 he had a relationship with Christ like no other, 00:45:15.78\00:45:17.98 and he really amplifies the love 00:45:18.01\00:45:20.08 and personal relationship with Christ, 00:45:20.12\00:45:21.82 and plus more than half the book, 00:45:21.85\00:45:23.18 you know, the whole second half of the book 00:45:23.25\00:45:24.69 is all about those latter portion, 00:45:24.72\00:45:26.62 that last week of Christ's life, 00:45:26.65\00:45:28.12 and we are counseled 00:45:28.16\00:45:29.49 to take a thoughtful hour each day, 00:45:29.52\00:45:31.43 to focus in on the life of Christ, 00:45:31.46\00:45:33.86 especially the closing ones, right? 00:45:33.90\00:45:36.10 And so John would be a great and then, 00:45:36.13\00:45:37.50 of course, go back to Matthew, Mark, 00:45:37.53\00:45:39.30 and Luke and follow up and focusing beholding Christ, 00:45:39.37\00:45:42.74 uplifting Christ as Jesus said there in John Chapter 3 00:45:42.77\00:45:46.51 when he was talking to Nicodemus, 00:45:46.54\00:45:47.91 uplifting Christ and beholding Him, 00:45:47.94\00:45:50.71 the uplifted Christ, and you will 00:45:50.75\00:45:52.55 become stronger in the Lord. 00:45:52.58\00:45:53.92 As a follow up to that, 00:45:53.95\00:45:55.28 as supplementation not a substitute for the Bible, 00:45:55.32\00:45:57.69 but as a supplementation of that 00:45:57.72\00:45:59.05 I would certainly recommend the book, 00:45:59.09\00:46:00.49 Steps to Christ. 00:46:00.52\00:46:01.86 Steps to Christ by Ellen G. White, 00:46:01.89\00:46:03.53 wonderful book that points us 00:46:03.59\00:46:04.93 to how to have a relationship step by step with Jesus Christ 00:46:04.96\00:46:07.86 and then, of course, next to that would be 00:46:07.93\00:46:10.03 the Desire of Ages, 00:46:10.10\00:46:11.73 the book entitled the Desire of Ages, 00:46:11.77\00:46:13.27 so first the Bible, and then, of course, 00:46:13.30\00:46:15.10 I would say Steps to Christ and then Desire of Ages. 00:46:15.14\00:46:17.44 Amen. 00:46:17.47\00:46:18.81 Thank you all so much for your study of the Word of God. 00:46:18.84\00:46:20.41 I've learned a lot just sitting here 00:46:20.44\00:46:21.88 and we hope you have at home as well. 00:46:21.91\00:46:24.11 This is one of my favorite parts of the Bible Q and A, 00:46:24.15\00:46:26.95 we just throw the questions out there 00:46:26.98\00:46:28.58 and everyone gets to answer together. 00:46:28.62\00:46:30.65 So let's start with this one from Christie in Colorado. 00:46:30.69\00:46:33.72 "How long will the seven plagues last?" 00:46:33.79\00:46:38.69 Okay, Brother. Go ahead. 00:46:38.73\00:46:40.06 Jump in. I got a quote... 00:46:40.13\00:46:41.43 I got a good scripture but you go ahead first. 00:46:41.46\00:46:42.80 Revelation 18:8. That's where I was going. 00:46:42.83\00:46:44.17 That's where you were gonna go, I thought so. 00:46:44.20\00:46:47.17 The Bible talks about a beginning time, 00:46:47.20\00:46:49.94 "Therefore her plagues, 00:46:50.01\00:46:51.54 speaking of the fall of Babylon, 00:46:51.57\00:46:53.48 her plagues will come in one day, 00:46:53.51\00:46:55.14 death and mourning and famine. 00:46:55.18\00:46:56.85 She will be utterly burned with fire, 00:46:56.88\00:46:58.85 for strong is the Lord God who judges her." 00:46:58.88\00:47:01.52 But the plague on Babylon is not the only plague, 00:47:01.55\00:47:04.45 that was specifying what's going to happen to her. 00:47:04.49\00:47:07.39 Her plague is gonna come over now 00:47:07.42\00:47:08.86 and you find that vivid picture in Revelation 18 00:47:08.89\00:47:11.86 where those who were buying her merchandise 00:47:11.89\00:47:14.36 don't buy it any longer, they stand back and say, 00:47:14.36\00:47:17.83 "Finally, you know, she comes down, 00:47:17.87\00:47:20.50 she crumbles and the voice of the bridegroom 00:47:20.54\00:47:23.41 is no longer heard in her." 00:47:23.44\00:47:24.77 That means, the Lord that says, "Come out of her My people." 00:47:24.81\00:47:27.34 That voice is shut down. 00:47:27.38\00:47:29.01 And that voice, when that voice 00:47:29.04\00:47:30.71 is shut down the people of God should be out by then, 00:47:30.75\00:47:33.65 and then her plagues begin to come. 00:47:33.72\00:47:35.78 But the Bible also talks about other plagues in Romans, 00:47:35.82\00:47:38.72 I mean, in Revelation 11:6, 00:47:38.75\00:47:41.06 when it talks about the two witnesses, 00:47:41.09\00:47:43.12 and it says they have. 00:47:43.16\00:47:44.59 It says, "They have power to shut heaven, 00:47:44.63\00:47:47.30 so that no rain falls in the days of their prophecy." 00:47:47.36\00:47:50.57 That's the Bible, the Word of God, 00:47:50.60\00:47:52.57 the Holy Spirit. 00:47:52.60\00:47:53.94 "And they have power over the waters to turn them 00:47:53.97\00:47:55.74 to blood to strike the earth with all plagues, 00:47:55.77\00:47:58.84 as often as they desire." 00:47:58.87\00:48:01.08 This is an indefinite period of time 00:48:01.11\00:48:03.48 that so based on Revelation 11, 00:48:03.51\00:48:04.98 the indefinite period of time, 00:48:05.01\00:48:06.41 but the plagues on Babylon in Revelation 18, 00:48:06.45\00:48:09.08 the Bible says her plagues will come in one day. 00:48:09.12\00:48:11.35 Absolutely. 00:48:11.39\00:48:12.72 No, I think that that was exactly 00:48:12.75\00:48:14.09 where I was gonna go with that as well. 00:48:14.12\00:48:15.46 I have personally heard a few different variations 00:48:15.49\00:48:18.59 of views on this. 00:48:18.63\00:48:20.00 I've heard some people, some of my men... 00:48:20.03\00:48:22.13 previous mentor who have said, 00:48:22.16\00:48:23.53 you know, they've applied the day 00:48:23.57\00:48:24.90 for year principle there and trying to say that 00:48:24.93\00:48:26.27 it's going to come within a year. 00:48:26.30\00:48:27.64 And, of course, people will refute that 00:48:27.67\00:48:29.00 and say, you know, 00:48:29.04\00:48:30.37 there's no more prophetic time past, 00:48:30.41\00:48:31.74 you know 1844 and so they'll say 00:48:31.77\00:48:33.84 that's a literal application 00:48:33.88\00:48:35.44 but, you know, I agree with everything 00:48:35.48\00:48:37.11 Pastor Lomacang said, the most important thing 00:48:37.15\00:48:38.95 I think I want to just make sure 00:48:38.98\00:48:40.58 is that I'm not on the receiving 00:48:40.62\00:48:42.25 end of those plagues. 00:48:42.28\00:48:43.65 Absolutely. 00:48:43.69\00:48:45.02 I want to make sure 00:48:45.05\00:48:46.39 I have a relationship with Jesus, 00:48:46.42\00:48:47.76 I'm sealed, and don't have to worry about 00:48:47.79\00:48:49.19 any of those plagues falling on me. 00:48:49.22\00:48:50.59 That's so good. Amen. 00:48:50.63\00:48:51.96 Amen. That's good. 00:48:51.99\00:48:53.33 You want to add anything, Pastor Johnny? 00:48:53.36\00:48:54.66 Yes, you know, God will preserve His children. 00:48:54.73\00:48:56.83 And so, the time of trouble that is coming. 00:48:56.90\00:49:01.17 I mean the plagues that are coming, 00:49:01.20\00:49:02.74 is a time when God is visiting His judgments 00:49:02.77\00:49:05.77 upon the wicked. 00:49:05.81\00:49:07.14 So God's people should be protected during that time. 00:49:07.18\00:49:09.08 And so, praise God for that, you know, 00:49:09.11\00:49:12.15 that He will protect His children. 00:49:12.18\00:49:13.52 That's all I wanted to add for that. 00:49:13.58\00:49:14.92 Amen. 00:49:14.95\00:49:16.28 This question is from Carol, we have time to get to this, 00:49:16.32\00:49:17.89 and it kind of goes along with the end times. 00:49:17.92\00:49:19.62 "Do you think that 00:49:19.65\00:49:20.99 we are in the beginning of the time 00:49:21.02\00:49:22.46 of trouble now?" 00:49:22.49\00:49:25.13 I know, I don't believe 00:49:25.16\00:49:26.49 we were in the beginning of the time of trouble 00:49:26.56\00:49:27.86 because I believe that time of trouble 00:49:27.93\00:49:29.23 as spoken out by Daniel, 00:49:29.26\00:49:30.60 in Daniel 12:1 talking about there's going to be 00:49:30.63\00:49:32.43 a time of trouble 00:49:32.47\00:49:33.80 such as never ever been or ever will be. 00:49:33.87\00:49:36.47 When Michael stands up, we know Jesus will stand up, 00:49:36.54\00:49:38.71 He's coming back to get His people. 00:49:38.74\00:49:40.51 And so that's within the context of, 00:49:40.54\00:49:42.71 as we were just talking about 00:49:42.74\00:49:44.08 those seven last plagues that we've talked about before. 00:49:44.11\00:49:46.85 The seven last plagues mentioned 00:49:46.88\00:49:48.28 in Revelation Chapter 16 and I don't believe that 00:49:48.32\00:49:51.49 there's been any plagues to fall yet 00:49:51.52\00:49:53.12 in the context of Revelation 16. 00:49:53.19\00:49:55.62 So I would say no, 00:49:55.66\00:49:56.99 the answer to that question is no, 00:49:57.06\00:49:58.39 we have, we will experience 00:49:58.43\00:49:59.76 some little times of trouble, 00:49:59.79\00:50:01.26 we will experience some challenges, 00:50:01.30\00:50:03.00 some trials and certainly some, 00:50:03.06\00:50:04.80 some type of tribulations and, you know, 00:50:04.83\00:50:07.27 as we've been going through a pandemic, 00:50:07.30\00:50:08.97 I mean, that's a tribulation, that's a trial, 00:50:09.00\00:50:12.54 but to talk about the great time of trouble, 00:50:12.57\00:50:15.24 that great ending tribulation time period, 00:50:15.28\00:50:18.15 go read Revelation Chapter 16 00:50:18.18\00:50:19.85 and you come to your conclusion. 00:50:19.91\00:50:21.32 Have you seen the world break out in soars? 00:50:21.35\00:50:23.08 Have you seen waters turn the blood? 00:50:23.12\00:50:24.45 Have you seen the sun burn up the elements 00:50:24.49\00:50:27.36 and you know all these horrible plagues, 00:50:27.39\00:50:30.13 you know, hail falling from the sky? 00:50:30.16\00:50:31.79 You know, these are some intense stuff 00:50:31.83\00:50:34.30 so I would say, no, we're not there yet, 00:50:34.36\00:50:36.20 but we're certainly heading in that direction. 00:50:36.23\00:50:38.17 You know, and Jeremiah 30 00:50:38.20\00:50:39.53 brings out a time of Jacob's trouble, 00:50:39.60\00:50:41.70 because there's going to be 00:50:41.74\00:50:43.07 the time of trouble is what you call, 00:50:43.10\00:50:44.74 what I refer to as a building time 00:50:44.77\00:50:47.24 until probation closes, 00:50:47.28\00:50:48.88 then the wrath of God has poured out without mixture. 00:50:48.91\00:50:51.55 But Jeremiah 30:7, "Alas for the day is great, 00:50:51.58\00:50:55.12 so that none is like it, 00:50:55.15\00:50:56.65 and it's a time of Jacob's trouble, 00:50:56.69\00:50:58.65 but he shall be saved out of it." 00:50:58.69\00:51:00.82 So there's no need to fear, God is still in charge. 00:51:00.86\00:51:03.49 And so, thank you, Ryan, for saying, 00:51:03.56\00:51:05.26 I don't need to concern myself, I just need to be in the Lord. 00:51:05.29\00:51:07.86 Amen. 00:51:07.93\00:51:09.23 Pastor Johnny, a few seconds, 00:51:09.26\00:51:10.63 do you have something you want to add? 00:51:10.67\00:51:12.00 Yes, you know, we are facing difficult times. 00:51:12.03\00:51:14.84 It is only going, it's only going to intensify 00:51:14.87\00:51:17.91 the best thing we could do 00:51:17.94\00:51:19.64 is stay close to Jesus as possible. 00:51:19.67\00:51:22.31 So, this is my... 00:51:22.34\00:51:24.31 And we are heading towards that time of trouble 00:51:24.35\00:51:26.38 and towards a little time of trouble 00:51:26.41\00:51:27.75 that comes just before the time of trouble. 00:51:27.78\00:51:29.25 So, best thing to do is stay close to Jesus 00:51:29.28\00:51:30.95 as much as you can. 00:51:30.99\00:51:32.32 Amen. 00:51:32.35\00:51:33.72 We're gonna be back in just a moment 00:51:33.76\00:51:35.09 with some closing thoughts with each of our family here, 00:51:35.12\00:51:36.99 but before that we want to give you 00:51:37.03\00:51:38.39 one more opportunity to send in your questions. 00:51:38.43\00:51:41.30 We love your questions, 00:51:41.33\00:51:42.66 we love to hear where you're from. 00:51:42.70\00:51:44.40 Make sure when you send them in, 00:51:44.43\00:51:45.77 you give maybe your first name and where you're from, 00:51:45.80\00:51:47.94 because we'd love to reference that as well. 00:51:47.97\00:51:49.60 So here's the way that 00:51:49.64\00:51:50.97 you can contact us with your Bible questions. 00:51:51.01\00:51:55.44 If you're enjoying our 3ABN Bible Q and A, 00:51:55.48\00:51:58.21 then tell your friends. 00:51:58.25\00:51:59.58 Each Monday 00:51:59.61\00:52:01.02 we'll bring you a fresh program, 00:52:01.05\00:52:02.38 answering the Bible questions you send us 00:52:02.42\00:52:04.69 and we'll use God's Holy Word to shed light on those texts 00:52:04.72\00:52:07.79 that seem difficult to understand. 00:52:07.82\00:52:10.09 If you would like your questions 00:52:10.13\00:52:11.46 answered on an upcoming program, 00:52:11.49\00:52:13.26 just email them to us. 00:52:13.29\00:52:14.86 Our email address is BibleQA@3abn.org 00:52:14.93\00:52:19.57 That's BibleQA@3abn.org 00:52:19.60\00:52:24.21 You can also text us 00:52:24.24\00:52:25.57 your questions by sending them to 618-228-3975. 00:52:25.61\00:52:30.81 That number again is 618-228-3975. 00:52:30.85\00:52:35.82 Be sure to include your name and where you live, 00:52:35.85\00:52:38.39 and then watch 3ABN Bible Q and A 00:52:38.42\00:52:53.40
