Praise God for that. 00:02:45.49\00:02:46.83 Appreciate you all too. Amen. 00:02:46.90\00:02:48.93 Well before we dive into the Word. 00:02:48.96\00:02:51.13 Let's have a word of prayer. 00:02:51.17\00:02:52.50 Pastor Lomacang, will you pray for us? 00:02:52.53\00:02:54.00 Sure, let's pray. 00:02:54.04\00:02:55.37 Gracious Father loving Lord, 00:02:55.40\00:02:57.11 Your Word is a lamp unto our feet 00:02:57.17\00:03:00.31 and a light unto our path. 00:03:00.34\00:03:02.34 And, Father, while we handle this sacred Word, 00:03:02.38\00:03:06.51 we pray that we could do so 00:03:06.55\00:03:07.95 recognizing that we are stepping into a place 00:03:07.98\00:03:11.42 that is far greater in scope 00:03:11.45\00:03:13.32 and understanding than our finite minds, 00:03:13.36\00:03:15.82 but give us what we need, Lord, to reach out 00:03:15.86\00:03:18.13 to the hearts and minds 00:03:18.16\00:03:19.49 of those who are asking for questions, 00:03:19.53\00:03:21.56 and may the light come on for them, 00:03:21.60\00:03:23.83 that they may not only get understanding, 00:03:23.87\00:03:26.03 or come to know You as their Savior, in Jesus name. 00:03:26.07\00:03:29.77 Amen. Amen. 00:03:29.80\00:03:31.14 Amen. Amen. 00:03:31.17\00:03:32.51 I want to share this Bible verse with you 00:03:32.54\00:03:33.88 before we get started, it's found in Romans 15:4, 00:03:33.94\00:03:38.71 and it says "For whatever things 00:03:38.75\00:03:40.08 were written 00:03:40.12\00:03:41.45 before were written for our learning, 00:03:41.48\00:03:43.95 that we through the patience 00:03:43.99\00:03:45.62 and comfort of the scriptures might have hope." 00:03:45.65\00:03:48.86 That's right. 00:03:48.89\00:03:50.23 So we're gonna go into the scriptures 00:03:50.29\00:03:52.09 and, Jill, we're gonna start with you. 00:03:52.13\00:03:54.03 The first question says, 00:03:54.10\00:03:55.76 "What can I do to feel the Lord close to me?" 00:03:55.80\00:04:00.54 I love that question. 00:04:00.57\00:04:01.97 I think that has been the cry of my heart ever since 00:04:02.00\00:04:03.87 I was a little girl, 00:04:03.91\00:04:05.24 wanting to experience the presence of God. 00:04:05.27\00:04:08.04 I want to flip the question on its head 00:04:08.08\00:04:10.05 instead of what can I do to feel the Lord close to me. 00:04:10.08\00:04:13.18 I'm going to ask it this way. 00:04:13.21\00:04:14.78 What can I do to experience Him by faith? 00:04:14.82\00:04:18.99 You see, if you can't feel God 00:04:19.02\00:04:21.02 with your feelings, you feel Him with your faith. 00:04:21.06\00:04:25.39 For so many years 00:04:25.43\00:04:26.76 I was a feeling based Christian, 00:04:26.80\00:04:29.03 meaning if I felt Him close, 00:04:29.06\00:04:30.83 then He must be close, 00:04:30.90\00:04:32.23 but if I thought He was far then 00:04:32.27\00:04:34.27 He was not close to me. 00:04:34.30\00:04:36.20 But the truth is our Christian walk 00:04:36.24\00:04:38.74 is not based on feelings. 00:04:38.77\00:04:41.04 It's based on the authority of the Word of God. 00:04:41.11\00:04:44.18 I want to give you three keys, number one, study His Word. 00:04:44.21\00:04:47.35 If you want to grow your faith, spend time in the Word of God. 00:04:47.38\00:04:51.95 Romans 10:17, "Faith comes by hearing 00:04:51.99\00:04:54.49 and hearing by the Word of God." 00:04:54.52\00:04:57.06 Number two, accept what His Word 00:04:57.09\00:04:59.89 says about you by faith. 00:04:59.93\00:05:01.83 What do I mean by that? 00:05:01.86\00:05:03.43 1 John 1:9, "If we confess our sins, 00:05:03.47\00:05:05.57 He's faithful and just to forgive us, 00:05:05.60\00:05:07.40 and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness." 00:05:07.47\00:05:10.11 Now we can say, I don't feel forgiven, 00:05:10.14\00:05:12.04 but that doesn't matter at all. 00:05:12.07\00:05:13.41 What does His Word say? You are forgiven. 00:05:13.44\00:05:16.11 What does His word say in Romans 8:15? 00:05:16.14\00:05:19.05 "You did not receive the spirit of bondage again to fear, 00:05:19.08\00:05:22.28 but you received the spirit of adoption 00:05:22.32\00:05:24.02 by which we cry out Abba, Father." 00:05:24.05\00:05:26.69 His Word says that you are His child. 00:05:26.72\00:05:29.82 His Word says, 1 John 4:18, "There is no fear in love, 00:05:29.86\00:05:33.53 for perfect love casts out fear." 00:05:33.56\00:05:36.63 His Word says you don't have to walk in fear. 00:05:36.67\00:05:39.47 His Word says in John 14:27, 00:05:39.50\00:05:41.74 that "He will give you His peace." 00:05:41.77\00:05:44.31 So all of these emotions 00:05:44.34\00:05:46.37 that we think we need to have as Christians, 00:05:46.41\00:05:49.51 they come on the authority of the Word of God, 00:05:49.54\00:05:52.71 you accept what His Word says about you, 00:05:52.75\00:05:55.72 and that is who you are in Christ. 00:05:55.75\00:05:57.69 Number three, 00:05:57.72\00:05:59.05 you claim these promises out loud. 00:05:59.09\00:06:01.86 There is death and life in the power of the tongue, 00:06:01.89\00:06:04.39 speak His word over your life 00:06:04.46\00:06:06.43 and watch as your feelings begin to change. 00:06:06.46\00:06:09.83 Wow. Well said, well said. 00:06:09.86\00:06:12.13 Don't operate off feelings, 00:06:12.17\00:06:13.50 operate off principles, I love it. 00:06:13.54\00:06:16.00 Pastor Day, who is her 00:06:16.04\00:06:20.08 in Ezekiel 22:26-27? 00:06:20.11\00:06:24.25 This comes from Phyllis. 00:06:24.28\00:06:25.61 Sure, now that's a great question. 00:06:25.65\00:06:27.65 Well, there's no doubt that the "Her" mentioned here 00:06:27.72\00:06:30.82 is most definitely the house of Israel, 00:06:30.89\00:06:33.89 or God's people, the church in this case. 00:06:33.96\00:06:36.39 How do we know that? 00:06:36.42\00:06:37.76 There's plenty of context 00:06:37.83\00:06:39.16 clues throughout this entire chapter. 00:06:39.19\00:06:41.16 I'm just gonna point to one right now 00:06:41.20\00:06:42.53 for the sake of time, 00:06:42.56\00:06:43.93 Ezekiel 22:18, so you, 00:06:43.97\00:06:46.53 Phyllis quoted verse 26-27. 00:06:46.57\00:06:50.61 And before I go to verse 18, 00:06:50.67\00:06:52.01 let's just read the first part of verse 26 there, 00:06:52.04\00:06:54.14 just to reference what it is you're asking. 00:06:54.18\00:06:55.88 It says "Her priest have violated My law 00:06:55.91\00:06:58.71 and profane My holy things. 00:06:58.75\00:07:00.75 They have not distinguished between the holy and unholy 00:07:00.78\00:07:03.52 nor have they made known the difference 00:07:03.55\00:07:04.92 between the unclean and the clean 00:07:04.95\00:07:06.65 and they have hidden their eyes from My Sabbath, 00:07:06.69\00:07:08.69 so that I am profaned among them." 00:07:08.72\00:07:10.73 So the her here is no doubt God's people, 00:07:10.76\00:07:13.43 the church, the house of Israel. 00:07:13.46\00:07:15.60 You'll notice, again in verse 18 above that. 00:07:15.63\00:07:18.77 It says "Their son of man, 00:07:18.80\00:07:20.50 the house of Israel has become dross to me." 00:07:20.54\00:07:24.27 And so many times all throughout the Bible 00:07:24.31\00:07:26.57 God refers to His people the church, 00:07:26.61\00:07:29.04 in the form of a her because, 00:07:29.08\00:07:31.35 again, Jeremiah 6:2, I believe it is. 00:07:31.41\00:07:34.95 It says, "I have likened the daughter of Zion 00:07:34.98\00:07:37.02 to a comely and delicate woman," 00:07:37.05\00:07:38.99 just as Brother Paul over in 00:07:39.02\00:07:41.06 the New Testament also says, you know, 00:07:41.12\00:07:43.02 "Husbands love your wives 00:07:43.06\00:07:44.39 as Christ also loved the church." 00:07:44.43\00:07:45.93 So the church is often likened 00:07:45.96\00:07:47.56 unto a woman so her here is most definitely 00:07:47.60\00:07:50.37 the daughter of Zion, the house of Israel, 00:07:50.40\00:07:53.07 God's people, the church. 00:07:53.10\00:07:54.47 Amen. 00:07:54.50\00:07:55.84 Thank you for breaking that down. 00:07:55.87\00:07:57.21 Now Pastor Lomacang, 00:07:57.24\00:07:58.77 what does abomination of desolation mean? 00:07:58.81\00:08:02.01 This comes from Lucy out of Atlanta. 00:08:02.04\00:08:05.18 Thank you for 30 minute question. 00:08:05.21\00:08:08.02 Abomination of Desolation, 00:08:08.08\00:08:09.42 let me go ahead and lead into it 00:08:09.45\00:08:10.79 by saying the abomination of desolation 00:08:10.82\00:08:12.79 is often tried to merge, 00:08:12.82\00:08:14.82 but it actually has two applications in Scripture. 00:08:14.86\00:08:17.53 I'll give you an overview 00:08:17.59\00:08:18.99 quickly the abomination of desolation first describes 00:08:19.03\00:08:22.46 the destruction of Jerusalem on the heels 00:08:22.50\00:08:24.90 of the rejection of the Messiah. 00:08:24.93\00:08:26.74 And it also is an application 00:08:26.77\00:08:28.60 to the false substitution 00:08:28.64\00:08:30.54 of the heavenly ministry of Jesus 00:08:30.57\00:08:32.81 by an earthly priesthood. 00:08:32.84\00:08:35.34 Matthew 24:15-20, 00:08:35.38\00:08:37.78 let's go ahead and talk about the destruction of Jerusalem. 00:08:37.81\00:08:41.45 On the heels of the rejection of Messiah 00:08:41.48\00:08:43.52 because Jesus foretold, 00:08:43.55\00:08:44.99 "The day is coming that not one stone will be left 00:08:45.02\00:08:47.99 upon another that will not be thrown down," 00:08:48.02\00:08:50.46 and when they rejected Him, 00:08:50.49\00:08:51.93 He said, "Your house is left unto you desolate." 00:08:51.96\00:08:55.16 But he also talked about the day that 00:08:55.20\00:08:57.20 Jerusalem would come down. 00:08:57.27\00:08:59.43 Verse 15 of Matthew 24, therefore, warning of it, 00:08:59.47\00:09:03.07 "When you see the abomination of desolation, 00:09:03.10\00:09:05.77 spoken up by Daniel the prophet, 00:09:05.81\00:09:07.91 standing in the holy place, 00:09:07.94\00:09:09.74 whoever reads let him understand." 00:09:09.78\00:09:11.95 Now he's talking about 00:09:11.98\00:09:13.31 the circumstances in the location 00:09:13.35\00:09:15.05 where it's going to happen. 00:09:15.08\00:09:16.42 "Then let those who are in Judea flee to the mountains. 00:09:16.45\00:09:19.75 Let him who is on the housetop not go down 00:09:19.79\00:09:22.72 to take anything out of his house. 00:09:22.76\00:09:24.86 Let him who is in the field not go back to get his clothes. 00:09:24.89\00:09:28.26 But woe to those who are pregnant 00:09:28.30\00:09:30.40 and to those who are nursing babies 00:09:30.43\00:09:32.07 in those days! 00:09:32.10\00:09:33.44 And pray that your flight may not be 00:09:33.47\00:09:34.90 in winter or on the Sabbath." 00:09:34.94\00:09:37.11 He's saying if this comes and the Roman armies 00:09:37.14\00:09:39.41 were to find you, you're going to be in trouble. 00:09:39.44\00:09:41.41 That's why Luke 21:20 adds to that by saying, 00:09:41.48\00:09:44.65 "But when you see Jerusalem surrounded by armies 00:09:44.68\00:09:48.55 then know that its desolation is near." 00:09:48.58\00:09:52.52 That's the application of the destruction of Jerusalem 00:09:52.55\00:09:54.89 on the heels of the rejection of the Messiah. 00:09:54.92\00:09:57.63 But now the false substitution of the heavenly ministry 00:09:57.66\00:09:59.83 by an earthly ministry 00:09:59.86\00:10:01.16 established by the power of Rome, 00:10:01.20\00:10:02.73 the king of the north. 00:10:02.76\00:10:04.23 Daniel 11:31, he says, 00:10:04.27\00:10:06.77 "And forces shall be mustered by him 00:10:06.80\00:10:09.00 and they shall defile the sanctuary fortress, 00:10:09.04\00:10:12.87 then they shall take away the daily sacrifices 00:10:12.91\00:10:16.24 and placed there the abomination of desolation." 00:10:16.28\00:10:20.38 Daniel 12:11, "And from the time 00:10:20.42\00:10:23.85 that the daily sacrifice is taken away, 00:10:23.89\00:10:26.55 and the abomination of desolation is set up, 00:10:26.59\00:10:29.52 there shall be 1290 days." 00:10:29.56\00:10:32.93 I'm not even going to that right now. 00:10:32.96\00:10:34.93 But Daniel 8:12 foreshadows it, 00:10:34.96\00:10:37.20 "And the host was given him 00:10:37.23\00:10:39.30 against the daily sacrifice 00:10:39.33\00:10:41.60 by reason of transgression, 00:10:41.64\00:10:43.37 and he cast down the truth to the ground 00:10:43.41\00:10:46.07 and it practiced and prospered." 00:10:46.11\00:10:48.11 During the Dark Ages, 00:10:48.14\00:10:49.81 Rome established a false priestly system, 00:10:49.84\00:10:52.51 an earthly priestly system 00:10:52.55\00:10:54.45 that was a counterfeit 00:10:54.48\00:10:56.25 to the heavenly ministry of Christ, 00:10:56.28\00:10:57.85 which is a daily function of the Word of Christ 00:10:57.92\00:11:01.19 and Daniel 8:13 says this way. 00:11:01.26\00:11:03.46 "Then I heard a holy one speaking 00:11:03.49\00:11:04.99 and another holy one said to that certain one 00:11:05.03\00:11:07.13 who was speaking, how long will the vision be 00:11:07.13\00:11:09.80 concerning the daily sacrifices, 00:11:09.83\00:11:12.63 and the transgression of desolation. 00:11:12.67\00:11:14.67 The giving both of the sanctuary 00:11:14.70\00:11:16.60 and the host to be trampled underfoot." 00:11:16.64\00:11:18.94 Clearly said. Good job. 00:11:18.97\00:11:21.21 I don't know how you did that 00:11:21.24\00:11:22.58 in three minutes, but praise God. 00:11:22.61\00:11:24.81 Jill, which people did Cain marry? 00:11:24.88\00:11:27.85 This comes from Rachel out of Uganda. 00:11:27.88\00:11:30.45 Thank you, Rachel, for that question. 00:11:30.49\00:11:31.95 The Word of God actually doesn't tell us 00:11:31.99\00:11:33.86 but we can have a pretty good idea. 00:11:33.89\00:11:35.99 You think about 00:11:36.02\00:11:37.36 Adam and Eve in the Bible, in Genesis, 00:11:37.39\00:11:39.66 you only see three sons that were mentioned, 00:11:39.69\00:11:42.76 this is Cain and Abel and, of course, Seth. 00:11:42.80\00:11:45.23 Now we know that Cain murdered his brother Abel, 00:11:45.27\00:11:47.94 which then just leaves Cain and Seth, 00:11:47.97\00:11:50.24 but, you know, that Adam and Eve 00:11:50.27\00:11:52.44 had other children, they had daughters, 00:11:52.47\00:11:54.78 which aren't mentioned but they had daughters 00:11:54.81\00:11:56.61 and probably other sons. 00:11:56.64\00:11:58.58 So, we can deduce from that 00:11:58.61\00:12:01.22 that Cain would have either married his sister, 00:12:01.28\00:12:03.72 or possibly maybe he got married to niece 00:12:03.75\00:12:06.99 if maybe a brother and sister got married 00:12:07.02\00:12:09.16 and had a child, he might have married, 00:12:09.19\00:12:11.06 I don't know but he would have married 00:12:11.09\00:12:12.43 a very close family relation. 00:12:12.46\00:12:14.73 If you jump down to Genesis Chapter 6, 00:12:14.73\00:12:18.17 you see Genesis 6:1-2, "It came to pass, 00:12:18.20\00:12:21.97 when men began to multiply on the face of the earth, 00:12:22.00\00:12:24.64 and daughters were born to them 00:12:24.71\00:12:26.41 that the sons of God saw the daughters of men, 00:12:26.44\00:12:28.91 that they were beautiful, and they took wives for them 00:12:28.94\00:12:32.31 of all whom they chose." 00:12:32.35\00:12:34.15 Now the sons of God, 00:12:34.22\00:12:35.85 this differentiates two different lineages. 00:12:35.88\00:12:40.06 We see the sons of God, 00:12:40.09\00:12:41.46 which is the descendants of Seth, 00:12:41.49\00:12:43.53 those who wanted to follow God 00:12:43.56\00:12:45.29 and keep His commandments, 00:12:45.33\00:12:46.96 then we see the daughters of men, 00:12:47.00\00:12:48.96 this would be the descendants of Cain, 00:12:49.00\00:12:51.43 those who spat, as it were in the face of God, 00:12:51.47\00:12:54.70 those who turned their back on God 00:12:54.74\00:12:56.30 and did only what was evil. 00:12:56.34\00:12:58.11 Now when intermarriage occurred 00:12:58.17\00:13:00.51 between those who sought to follow God 00:13:00.54\00:13:02.71 and those who followed wickedness, 00:13:02.74\00:13:04.65 the entire earth 00:13:04.68\00:13:06.01 became corrupt in a very short amount of time. 00:13:06.05\00:13:09.02 We see this in Genesis 6:5, 00:13:09.05\00:13:11.09 "Until every intent of man's heart 00:13:11.12\00:13:14.19 was only evil continually." 00:13:14.26\00:13:15.59 And, of course, 00:13:15.62\00:13:16.96 then we see the destruction by the flood. 00:13:16.99\00:13:18.79 But the short answer 00:13:18.83\00:13:20.16 is that Cain probably married his sister. 00:13:20.20\00:13:21.66 Wow. 00:13:21.70\00:13:23.03 Thank you for that explanation, Jill. 00:13:23.06\00:13:24.87 Ryan, we're gonna go to you, 00:13:24.93\00:13:26.87 and I am interested in becoming an Adventist, 00:13:26.90\00:13:30.17 but I believe in the rapture 00:13:30.21\00:13:32.14 and the second coming of Christ. 00:13:32.17\00:13:33.94 Do Adventists believe in the rapture? 00:13:33.98\00:13:36.18 This is from Latonya. Amen. 00:13:36.21\00:13:38.25 Thank you, Latonya, for that, 00:13:38.31\00:13:39.65 I appreciate the question and it's a great question. 00:13:39.68\00:13:42.85 To be very clear the Seventh-day Adventists 00:13:42.88\00:13:44.95 believe the biblical account 00:13:44.99\00:13:47.39 of what is known as the Second Coming of Jesus. 00:13:47.42\00:13:49.72 The word rapture 00:13:49.76\00:13:51.09 is not actually found in the Bible 00:13:51.13\00:13:52.66 so what you're referencing, 00:13:52.69\00:13:54.03 you want separation or differentiation 00:13:54.10\00:13:56.00 between the rapture and the Second Coming of Jesus. 00:13:56.03\00:13:58.53 This is a popular teaching 00:13:58.57\00:14:00.40 in the evangelical churches of today, 00:14:00.44\00:14:02.67 but we believe that 00:14:02.70\00:14:04.04 there's no biblical basis for that. 00:14:04.07\00:14:06.11 Now the concept of rapture, 00:14:06.14\00:14:07.68 in other words Christ returning and gathering 00:14:07.74\00:14:09.68 or collecting His saints to take them back to heaven, 00:14:09.71\00:14:12.25 absolutely that concept is there, 00:14:12.28\00:14:13.85 but to say that there is the rapture, again, 00:14:13.88\00:14:16.52 the pre-tribulation rapture theory in 00:14:16.55\00:14:18.35 which it begins with the rapture, 00:14:18.39\00:14:20.59 and then seven years of tribulation, 00:14:20.62\00:14:22.29 followed by the Second Coming of Jesus, 00:14:22.32\00:14:24.53 there's no biblical basis for that. 00:14:24.59\00:14:26.53 Where would they get confused, is trying to take Matthew 24, 00:14:26.56\00:14:30.27 where Jesus describes 00:14:30.30\00:14:31.63 His return as a thief in the night, 00:14:31.70\00:14:33.30 and also 1 Thessalonians 4-5 where Jesus or excuse me, 00:14:33.34\00:14:37.54 Paul references the Second Coming of Jesus, 00:14:37.57\00:14:39.87 they try to separate those two passages 00:14:39.91\00:14:41.61 and say that 00:14:41.64\00:14:42.98 they're describing two different events, 00:14:43.01\00:14:45.11 but Seventh-day Adventists believe 00:14:45.15\00:14:47.42 that those two passages 00:14:47.45\00:14:49.02 are talking about the exact same event, 00:14:49.05\00:14:51.62 and I don't necessarily want to just keep hounding 00:14:51.65\00:14:53.96 or saying Seventh-day Adventists believe 00:14:53.99\00:14:56.12 because I believe that Bible Christians believe 00:14:56.16\00:14:59.06 and we'll see very clearly no matter what denomination, 00:14:59.09\00:15:01.86 no matter where you're coming from, 00:15:01.90\00:15:03.23 if you're a Bible student of the Lord's Word, 00:15:03.26\00:15:06.10 then you will see very clearly as you go across 00:15:06.13\00:15:08.17 and look at the details where it talks about 00:15:08.20\00:15:10.01 Jesus coming in the clouds, 00:15:10.04\00:15:11.37 the sound of a trumpet, you know, 00:15:11.44\00:15:12.77 gathering together unto Him. 00:15:12.81\00:15:14.31 No man knows the day nor the hour, 00:15:14.34\00:15:15.68 the times and seasons, 00:15:15.71\00:15:17.05 a thief is over here, a thief is over there. 00:15:17.08\00:15:19.31 You know, Jesus says watch over here, 00:15:19.35\00:15:21.15 He says watch over there. 00:15:21.18\00:15:22.52 When you take Matthew 24 00:15:22.55\00:15:23.89 and compare it to 1 Thessalonians 4-5, 00:15:23.92\00:15:27.12 where Paul writes there. 00:15:27.16\00:15:28.49 I think you'll see very, very clearly, 00:15:28.52\00:15:30.03 there's no way of getting around 00:15:30.06\00:15:31.56 the fact that he's talking about the exact same event. 00:15:31.59\00:15:33.76 Jesus will return, 00:15:33.80\00:15:35.46 and He's going to return once in the sense that 00:15:35.50\00:15:37.50 there's only one second coming, there's not a rapture 00:15:37.57\00:15:40.94 and then a third coming in that case, 00:15:40.97\00:15:43.20 it's simply the Second Coming of Jesus. 00:15:43.24\00:15:45.21 Amen. Amen. 00:15:45.24\00:15:46.57 It's good, clarity. Clarity. 00:15:46.61\00:15:47.98 Yes, yes. 00:15:48.01\00:15:49.34 Pastor Lomacang, we're gonna go to you 00:15:49.38\00:15:50.71 on this one 00:15:50.75\00:15:52.08 and this is a rather long question 00:15:52.11\00:15:54.15 but a good one. 00:15:54.18\00:15:55.65 The three angels' messages tell us that 00:15:55.68\00:15:58.39 once the gospel goes out to all the world 00:15:58.42\00:16:00.82 and then Jesus will return. 00:16:00.86\00:16:03.09 But what confuses me 00:16:03.12\00:16:05.06 is since there is an endless renewing of lives 00:16:05.09\00:16:07.73 on the planet continuously being born 00:16:07.76\00:16:10.13 and coming to an age of being able to accept Christ, 00:16:10.17\00:16:13.70 at what point can it ever stop, 00:16:13.74\00:16:15.84 or turn off so that Jesus can return, 00:16:15.87\00:16:18.81 since it seems to be an never ending cycle. 00:16:18.84\00:16:22.64 There is a continuous number of babies born each day, 00:16:22.68\00:16:26.92 who in a few short years 00:16:26.95\00:16:28.52 will become old enough to accept Christ. 00:16:28.55\00:16:30.99 Can you shed some light on this? 00:16:31.02\00:16:32.45 This comes from Debbie. 00:16:32.49\00:16:33.96 Yes, thank you so much, Debbie, for that question. 00:16:33.99\00:16:37.16 We've often wondered that too 00:16:37.19\00:16:38.86 because when Matthew 24:14 says. 00:16:38.89\00:16:41.26 "And this gospel of the kingdom 00:16:41.30\00:16:42.63 shall be preached in all the world 00:16:42.66\00:16:44.47 as a witness to all nations, then the end will come." 00:16:44.53\00:16:48.50 We often think, but people are being born 00:16:48.54\00:16:50.97 and I have this atomic clock 00:16:51.01\00:16:52.37 that shows the population decreasing and increasing 00:16:52.41\00:16:55.18 exponentially every day. 00:16:55.24\00:16:57.01 But such was the case in the days of Noah. 00:16:57.05\00:16:59.58 That's right. Babies were being born. 00:16:59.61\00:17:01.92 People were dying every day, 00:17:01.95\00:17:03.65 the endless cycle of human population 00:17:03.69\00:17:05.79 and decrease and increase happened on a daily basis. 00:17:05.82\00:17:09.62 But the Bible says in Matthew 24:38. 00:17:09.66\00:17:12.73 "For as in the days before the flood 00:17:12.76\00:17:16.53 they were eating and drinking, 00:17:16.56\00:17:19.27 marrying and giving in marriage, 00:17:19.30\00:17:21.90 until the day that Noah entered the ark, 00:17:21.94\00:17:24.87 and did not know until the flood came 00:17:24.91\00:17:26.71 and took them all the way, 00:17:26.74\00:17:28.08 so also will the coming of the Son of man be." 00:17:28.14\00:17:30.81 So the human cycle will continue. 00:17:30.85\00:17:33.01 We find that some people might ask the question 00:17:33.05\00:17:35.28 and I'm just going to entertain this in my mind 00:17:35.32\00:17:36.85 without you actually asking this. 00:17:36.89\00:17:38.95 Well then how can people that are babies, 00:17:38.99\00:17:41.56 how can people that have not yet 00:17:41.62\00:17:43.16 come to the age of accountability, 00:17:43.19\00:17:45.73 be accountable for their destiny? 00:17:45.76\00:17:48.63 Well, similar to the husband that's not sanctified, 00:17:48.66\00:17:51.83 he's sanctified by the wife. 00:17:51.90\00:17:53.23 Yes. 00:17:53.27\00:17:54.60 Similar to the wife that's not sanctified, 00:17:54.64\00:17:56.00 she's sanctified by the husband. 00:17:56.04\00:17:57.94 There's this point of accountability 00:17:57.97\00:17:59.31 where the destiny of the child 00:17:59.34\00:18:00.91 will be determined by the life of the parent. 00:18:00.94\00:18:03.18 And I came to that conclusion because there were commands 00:18:03.21\00:18:05.31 that the Lord gave in the Old Testament 00:18:05.35\00:18:07.35 to slay utterly young and old, 00:18:07.38\00:18:09.25 children, little children, 00:18:09.28\00:18:11.45 because he saw that 00:18:11.49\00:18:12.82 the nation of the kind of people 00:18:12.85\00:18:14.32 that they were knowing the end from the beginning, 00:18:14.36\00:18:16.73 he saw in their character stamp, 00:18:16.76\00:18:19.29 no change from generation to generation. 00:18:19.33\00:18:21.83 That's why he said in Exodus, showing mercy to those, 00:18:21.86\00:18:25.63 but he's visiting the iniquity of the fathers 00:18:25.67\00:18:28.70 to the third and fourth generation 00:18:28.77\00:18:30.21 of those who hate me. 00:18:30.24\00:18:31.57 So the point of the matter is, 00:18:31.64\00:18:32.97 somebody is going to be young when Jesus comes. 00:18:33.01\00:18:34.84 That's why we are told to be ready at any moment. 00:18:34.91\00:18:38.11 Wow, that's deep. 00:18:38.18\00:18:40.18 If you haven't had the opportunity to do so, 00:18:40.22\00:18:42.65 I'd like to invite you to send your questions 00:18:42.68\00:18:45.02 via text 618-228-3975 00:18:45.05\00:18:50.36 or you can send an email to BibleQA@3abn.org 00:18:50.39\00:18:55.73 You know what's exciting is that people 00:18:55.76\00:18:57.63 are sending questions from around the world. 00:18:57.67\00:18:59.87 We literally just talked about a question from Uganda. 00:18:59.90\00:19:03.41 And that is, that's pretty far. 00:19:03.44\00:19:05.14 So, that is incredible and that shows that 00:19:05.17\00:19:07.74 people are hungry for the Word. 00:19:07.78\00:19:09.51 Amen. 00:19:09.54\00:19:10.88 Jill, does the Bible speak of everlasting burning 00:19:10.91\00:19:16.08 in Isaiah 66:24? 00:19:16.12\00:19:19.25 We're going to give you three minutes for this one. 00:19:19.29\00:19:22.62 That's a great question. 00:19:22.66\00:19:23.99 Let's actually read that reference, 00:19:24.03\00:19:25.46 Isaiah 66:24, 00:19:25.49\00:19:27.20 this is incidentally the very last verse 00:19:27.23\00:19:30.20 in the Book of Isaiah. 00:19:30.23\00:19:31.80 "And they shall go forth 00:19:31.87\00:19:33.20 and look upon the corpses of the men 00:19:33.23\00:19:35.24 who have transgressed against Me. 00:19:35.27\00:19:37.61 For their worm shall not die, and their fire is not quenched. 00:19:37.64\00:19:42.08 They shall be an abhorrence to all flesh." 00:19:42.11\00:19:45.51 So I think there are three considerations 00:19:45.55\00:19:47.72 that we need to look at, 00:19:47.75\00:19:49.08 when we're considering a difficult Bible verse, 00:19:49.12\00:19:51.99 first consideration is context. 00:19:52.02\00:19:53.79 What is the context of that verse? 00:19:53.82\00:19:56.19 In this context, if you read Isaiah 65-66, 00:19:56.22\00:20:00.03 clearly it's talking about the new heavens 00:20:00.06\00:20:02.63 and the new earth. 00:20:02.66\00:20:04.10 It's also talking about the destruction 00:20:04.13\00:20:07.04 that will take place upon the earth. 00:20:07.07\00:20:10.17 The second consideration 00:20:10.21\00:20:11.57 is we look at dual applications. 00:20:11.61\00:20:14.34 Many scriptures have a dual application, 00:20:14.38\00:20:16.98 they have a literal present day application 00:20:17.01\00:20:19.65 and they also have a symbolic application. 00:20:19.68\00:20:22.98 The literal application to this scripture 00:20:23.02\00:20:25.19 is literally the historical event 00:20:25.25\00:20:28.06 of the Assyrian army 00:20:28.12\00:20:29.89 during the reign of Hezekiah. 00:20:29.92\00:20:31.69 Remember Sennacherib came against the city of Jerusalem, 00:20:31.73\00:20:34.73 and there was this great seed, 00:20:34.76\00:20:36.87 and 185,000 of the Assyrians army 00:20:36.90\00:20:41.87 was annihilated, 00:20:41.90\00:20:43.24 they were killed by the angel of the Lord 00:20:43.27\00:20:44.87 in one night. 00:20:44.94\00:20:46.78 So literally, and this is talked about 00:20:46.81\00:20:49.24 in Isaiah 37, 00:20:49.28\00:20:50.88 they are looking out at the dead corpses 00:20:50.91\00:20:53.72 of the Assyrian army 00:20:53.75\00:20:55.08 who is laid out dead outside the city. 00:20:55.15\00:20:58.85 It says, "Their worm shall not die." 00:20:58.89\00:21:00.96 If you look in Hebrew, that word is similar to maggot, 00:21:00.99\00:21:04.06 meaning they're dead, they're lying outside the city. 00:21:04.09\00:21:06.36 They're starting to be eaten. 00:21:06.39\00:21:08.83 "And their fire is not quenched." 00:21:08.86\00:21:12.03 That is actually if you do some word study 00:21:12.10\00:21:14.44 in the simple imperfect tense, 00:21:14.47\00:21:16.54 meaning it's incomplete action at that time, 00:21:16.57\00:21:19.01 but it will be completed at some point in time. 00:21:19.04\00:21:22.54 And I like Jeremiah 17 talks about Jerusalem 00:21:22.58\00:21:25.48 will be burned with fire 00:21:25.51\00:21:26.85 when Jerusalem's currently not burning, 00:21:26.88\00:21:28.75 it means it will be burned, and then it will be burned up. 00:21:28.78\00:21:32.22 Now we look at the symbolic application, 00:21:32.25\00:21:34.69 the second application of this reference, 00:21:34.72\00:21:37.63 the destruction of Sennacherib's army 00:21:37.66\00:21:39.76 and those are 185,000 men. 00:21:39.79\00:21:42.10 It's symbolic of what will happen 00:21:42.13\00:21:44.27 to God's enemies at the end of time. 00:21:44.30\00:21:47.34 The righteous will see the event 00:21:47.37\00:21:48.94 and they will look out 00:21:48.97\00:21:50.51 over the dead corpses of the wicked, 00:21:50.54\00:21:53.51 who have turned their back on God. 00:21:53.54\00:21:56.38 Looking at the worms, and the fire not being quenched 00:21:56.41\00:21:59.45 just symbolizes the completeness 00:21:59.48\00:22:01.95 of the destruction 00:22:01.98\00:22:03.42 and the disgrace of no burial for the bodies there. 00:22:03.45\00:22:06.82 The final thing to look at 00:22:06.86\00:22:08.19 when looking at difficult verses 00:22:08.22\00:22:10.79 is to consider other verses from the Word of God. 00:22:10.83\00:22:13.63 Ecclesiastes 9 says, 00:22:13.66\00:22:15.10 "The living know that they shall die, 00:22:15.13\00:22:16.87 but the dead do not know anything." 00:22:16.90\00:22:19.23 John 5 talks about those coming forth 00:22:19.27\00:22:22.04 from the tombs to the resurrection of life, 00:22:22.07\00:22:24.31 or resurrection of judgment. 00:22:24.34\00:22:26.17 John 11 refers to death as a sleep. 00:22:26.21\00:22:28.68 So you look at this verse in context 00:22:28.71\00:22:31.55 with the rest of the verses in the Word of God. 00:22:31.58\00:22:33.45 Amen. 00:22:33.48\00:22:34.82 Wow, that was a power packed three minutes, Jill. 00:22:34.85\00:22:36.85 All right. 00:22:36.89\00:22:38.32 Ryan, this is going to be a longer question for you 00:22:38.39\00:22:42.09 in three minute deal here. 00:22:42.16\00:22:44.36 My brother's girlfriend whom they lived together 00:22:44.39\00:22:47.10 wants to get baptized. 00:22:47.13\00:22:48.76 Our pastor won't baptize her unless they get married. 00:22:48.80\00:22:51.83 I was under the impression 00:22:51.87\00:22:53.20 that you can come as you are to Jesus, 00:22:53.23\00:22:55.54 that baptism is accepting, 00:22:55.57\00:22:57.57 that baptism is accepting Christ 00:22:57.61\00:22:59.44 as your personal Savior. 00:22:59.47\00:23:01.08 Couldn't she get baptized and the Holy Spirit 00:23:01.11\00:23:03.41 will do the rest working in her heart to unite them 00:23:03.45\00:23:06.65 in marriage down the road? 00:23:06.68\00:23:08.52 She has stopped coming to church 00:23:08.55\00:23:10.19 but still studies the Bible and the Spirit of Prophecy. 00:23:10.22\00:23:13.49 And this comes from Barbara. 00:23:13.52\00:23:15.69 Thank you, Jason, 00:23:15.72\00:23:17.06 I appreciate that and thank you, Barbara, 00:23:17.09\00:23:19.09 for giving that question because that's a question that 00:23:19.13\00:23:21.40 it's a deep question, 00:23:21.46\00:23:22.80 but I believe the Bible has a very clear answer to it. 00:23:22.83\00:23:25.53 I'm gonna try to address a few points 00:23:25.57\00:23:27.64 that was in your information of your question one by one, 00:23:27.67\00:23:30.31 some of the information stuck out to me. 00:23:30.34\00:23:33.21 But just to get clear to the point. 00:23:33.24\00:23:35.84 A person who is in a relationship 00:23:35.88\00:23:37.81 with another person, 00:23:37.85\00:23:39.18 okay, a man and a woman in this case, 00:23:39.21\00:23:41.38 who is not in a marriage relationship 00:23:41.42\00:23:42.92 but yet is having an adult relationship, 00:23:42.95\00:23:45.35 a sexual relationship at all, of course, 00:23:45.39\00:23:48.02 in this case the Bible refers to this as fornication. 00:23:48.06\00:23:51.29 It says fornication in the eyes of God and, 00:23:51.33\00:23:53.33 of course, it is a sin. 00:23:53.36\00:23:54.93 Just a couple of scriptures that I want to share with you. 00:23:54.96\00:23:57.00 So 1 Corinthians 6:18, 00:23:57.03\00:23:59.70 the Bible says, "Flee fornication. 00:23:59.73\00:24:01.97 Every sin that a man doeth is without the body, 00:24:02.04\00:24:04.54 but he that committeth fornication sinneth 00:24:04.57\00:24:06.74 against his own body." 00:24:06.78\00:24:08.24 Okay, that's the first one. 00:24:08.28\00:24:09.81 Now we have Hebrews 13:4, again on that same point. 00:24:09.84\00:24:14.22 "Marriage is honorable in all, and the bed undefiled: 00:24:14.25\00:24:18.09 but whoremongers and adulterers God will judge." 00:24:18.15\00:24:21.09 And you could put fornication in there as well as that 00:24:21.12\00:24:23.02 as a sin of sexual immorality 00:24:23.06\00:24:26.26 and, of course, the last one I want to share 00:24:26.29\00:24:27.60 here pertaining to fornication. 00:24:27.66\00:24:29.20 1 Corinthians 7:2, 00:24:29.23\00:24:31.60 it says "Nevertheless to avoid fornication, 00:24:31.63\00:24:34.40 let every man hath his own wife, 00:24:34.44\00:24:36.64 and that every woman hath her own husband." 00:24:36.67\00:24:39.57 I'm not trying to be play the judgmental person 00:24:39.61\00:24:42.41 here in this situation, just simply relaying 00:24:42.44\00:24:44.21 what the Bible says, in this case, 00:24:44.25\00:24:46.08 you know, we're just reading 00:24:46.11\00:24:47.45 what you had wrote here, you know, 00:24:47.48\00:24:48.85 can people just come as they are to Jesus, right? 00:24:48.88\00:24:51.29 That baptism is accepting Christ as your personal Savior. 00:24:51.32\00:24:54.62 Yes, indeed we can and we should come to Jesus 00:24:54.66\00:24:56.96 just as we are, and He accepts us as we are. 00:24:56.99\00:24:59.39 But the wonderful thing about baptism 00:24:59.43\00:25:02.00 about coming into relationship with Christ 00:25:02.06\00:25:03.60 is He doesn't want to leave us, as we are, 00:25:03.63\00:25:05.97 but if we're going to come in relationship with Him, 00:25:06.00\00:25:08.20 we have to be committed to Him. 00:25:08.27\00:25:09.74 That's what baptism is all about. 00:25:09.77\00:25:12.14 Taking for consideration Romans 6:3-6, 00:25:12.17\00:25:16.61 Paul talking about the significance of baptism, 00:25:16.64\00:25:19.21 and according to your question, 00:25:19.25\00:25:20.58 that's what the question is about, right? 00:25:20.62\00:25:22.75 There in this relationship not married, 00:25:22.78\00:25:25.05 but yet and living together 00:25:25.12\00:25:26.65 but yet she wants to be baptized 00:25:26.69\00:25:28.12 and the pastor won't baptize her. 00:25:28.16\00:25:29.92 Well, let's read about what baptism is. 00:25:29.96\00:25:31.79 It says here verses 3-6 of Romans 6, 00:25:31.86\00:25:34.63 "Or do you not know that as many of us 00:25:34.66\00:25:36.06 were baptized into Christ, Jesus 00:25:36.10\00:25:38.47 were baptized into his death. 00:25:38.50\00:25:40.40 Therefore we are buried with Him 00:25:40.44\00:25:42.04 through baptism into death, 00:25:42.07\00:25:44.21 that just as Christ was raised from the dead 00:25:44.24\00:25:46.21 by the glory of the Father, 00:25:46.24\00:25:47.74 even so we also should walk in newness of life." 00:25:47.78\00:25:51.58 And let's go down to 6 six, here it says, "Knowing this, 00:25:51.65\00:25:53.38 that our old man was crucified with Him, 00:25:53.42\00:25:56.12 you crucify the old man, that the body of sin 00:25:56.15\00:25:58.89 might be done away with, 00:25:58.92\00:26:00.32 and that we should no longer be slaves of sin." 00:26:00.36\00:26:02.62 Baptism is a commitment, 00:26:02.66\00:26:03.99 it's just like a marriage commitment. 00:26:04.03\00:26:05.36 If I told my wife as I'm standing there 00:26:05.39\00:26:07.13 and about a vow myself to her that I want to marry you 00:26:07.20\00:26:09.53 and I want to be with you the rest of my life, 00:26:09.56\00:26:10.90 but I'm still going to have my side chick 00:26:10.93\00:26:12.57 that I'm going to have relationships with. 00:26:12.60\00:26:14.37 She's not, that's not a commitment, 00:26:14.40\00:26:15.77 I'm not committed, fully committed. 00:26:15.84\00:26:17.37 Same thing with God. 00:26:17.41\00:26:18.91 And in this case, you know, 00:26:18.94\00:26:20.28 another thing that sticks out to me, 00:26:20.31\00:26:21.64 she stopped going to church. 00:26:21.68\00:26:23.01 That's another indication that maybe 00:26:23.04\00:26:24.55 there's a heart issue 00:26:24.58\00:26:25.91 that needs to be dealt with there. 00:26:25.95\00:26:27.32 Come to Jesus, yes, just as you are. 00:26:27.35\00:26:29.52 But Jesus wants to cleanse you, 00:26:29.55\00:26:30.99 He wants you to be committed to Him, 00:26:31.02\00:26:32.39 and before you go 00:26:32.42\00:26:33.76 into that watery grave of baptism, 00:26:33.79\00:26:35.12 make sure that you have surrendered all to Him. 00:26:35.16\00:26:37.86 Amen. 00:26:37.89\00:26:39.23 Amen, I'll tell you what, 00:26:39.26\00:26:40.60 if you tell Stephanie that my door will be unlocked 00:26:40.63\00:26:44.87 'cause I'm sure you'll need a place to stay. 00:26:44.93\00:26:47.10 Oh, that's not gonna happen. 00:26:47.14\00:26:48.80 Pastor Lomacang, 00:26:48.84\00:26:50.67 what does it mean in Romans 8:30, 00:26:50.71\00:26:53.98 God predestined them? 00:26:54.01\00:26:55.58 This comes from Shaun out of Arizona. 00:26:55.64\00:26:58.11 It's good. I'm going to read Romans 8:30. 00:26:58.15\00:27:01.38 All right. 00:27:01.42\00:27:03.15 And we find in the Bible, 00:27:03.18\00:27:04.52 "More over whom He predestined, 00:27:04.55\00:27:08.66 these He also called whom he called, 00:27:08.69\00:27:12.13 these He also justified, 00:27:12.16\00:27:14.56 and whom He justified, these He also glorified." 00:27:14.60\00:27:18.87 What you're looking at is a cadence, 00:27:18.93\00:27:20.54 a step of the development of a Christian's life. 00:27:20.57\00:27:23.64 Let's start in the very beginning. 00:27:23.67\00:27:25.81 The word predestined doesn't mean pre programmed. 00:27:25.87\00:27:29.51 That's what people often think, 00:27:29.54\00:27:30.95 well, God has just programmed me, 00:27:30.98\00:27:32.41 He knows who's gonna be lost. 00:27:32.45\00:27:34.22 He knows who's gonna be saved. 00:27:34.25\00:27:35.98 Therefore, it doesn't really make sense to try 00:27:36.02\00:27:37.82 because we have been predestined. 00:27:37.85\00:27:39.85 Let me show you the difference 00:27:39.89\00:27:41.22 between predestination and foreknowledge. 00:27:41.26\00:27:43.46 If you were standing on the 15th floor on the corner 00:27:43.49\00:27:46.13 of a tall building, 00:27:46.16\00:27:48.43 and you saw someone removed the stop sign. 00:27:48.46\00:27:52.20 And you saw a car coming from one side 00:27:52.23\00:27:54.64 and a car coming from the other, 00:27:54.67\00:27:56.40 you know, before it happens, 00:27:56.44\00:27:57.91 they're gonna have a collision, 00:27:57.94\00:27:59.87 you have foreknowledge, 00:27:59.91\00:28:01.58 but you didn't predestined them to have that collision. 00:28:01.61\00:28:04.58 You see what's going to happen because you can understand 00:28:04.61\00:28:06.68 where they're coming from, where they are headed. 00:28:06.72\00:28:09.58 What God has done 00:28:09.62\00:28:10.95 is God has made provision for us 00:28:10.99\00:28:13.72 to be sons and daughters of God, 00:28:13.76\00:28:16.06 but we still have to choose. 00:28:16.09\00:28:18.26 You know what the Bible says 00:28:18.29\00:28:19.63 in Deuteronomy 30:19, 00:28:19.66\00:28:22.23 "This predestination is God has made every provision 00:28:22.26\00:28:25.10 for us to become sons and daughters of God, 00:28:25.13\00:28:27.40 every provision for us to be delivered from sin. 00:28:27.44\00:28:31.07 No temptation has overtaken you 00:28:31.11\00:28:32.64 but such as common to man, 00:28:32.67\00:28:34.21 but God is faithful, who will not allow you 00:28:34.24\00:28:36.61 to be tempted beyond what you are able, 00:28:36.64\00:28:38.41 but with the temptation make a way of escape." 00:28:38.48\00:28:39.88 Yeah. 00:28:39.91\00:28:41.25 1 Corinthians 10:13, "God has made the provision, 00:28:41.28\00:28:44.25 but you have to partake of that provision." 00:28:44.29\00:28:46.29 That's why Deuteronomy 13:19 says, 00:28:46.32\00:28:48.26 "I call heaven and earth as witnesses today against you, 00:28:48.29\00:28:52.19 that I have set before you life and death, 00:28:52.26\00:28:54.10 blessing and cursing, therefore choose life 00:28:54.10\00:28:57.87 that both you and your descendants may live." 00:28:57.90\00:29:00.77 But you have to choose. 00:29:00.80\00:29:03.17 It's good. Amen. 00:29:03.20\00:29:05.01 And, Jill, Bridget wants to know 00:29:05.04\00:29:06.91 how does God... 00:29:06.94\00:29:08.28 How and when does God chastise us? 00:29:08.31\00:29:10.91 It's a great question. 00:29:10.95\00:29:12.28 Thank you so much, Bridget, for that. 00:29:12.31\00:29:13.88 I would say number one, God's discipline 00:29:13.92\00:29:15.95 is always from a place of love. 00:29:15.98\00:29:17.92 Hebrews 12:6, 00:29:17.95\00:29:20.36 "For whom the Lord loves He chastens," 00:29:20.39\00:29:22.72 or that word could be disciplined," 00:29:22.79\00:29:24.89 and scourges every son whom he receives." 00:29:24.93\00:29:27.96 He also says in Revelations 3:19, 00:29:27.96\00:29:30.20 "As many as I love, 00:29:30.23\00:29:31.77 I rebuke and chasten: 00:29:31.80\00:29:34.04 be zealous therefore, and repent." 00:29:34.07\00:29:36.27 So God's discipline, 00:29:36.30\00:29:37.71 it's hard to see sometimes but it is from a place of love. 00:29:37.74\00:29:41.04 Number two, God's discipline is for our holiness. 00:29:41.08\00:29:46.11 Hebrews 12:10, 00:29:46.15\00:29:48.28 "For they indeed for a few days," 00:29:48.32\00:29:50.35 this is talking about the fathers, 00:29:50.39\00:29:51.89 "chastened their sons as seemed best to them, 00:29:51.92\00:29:54.86 but He" that's talking about God the Father, 00:29:54.89\00:29:57.13 "He does it for our profit." 00:29:57.16\00:29:59.26 Why? 00:29:59.33\00:30:00.66 "That we may be partakers of His holiness." 00:30:00.70\00:30:04.13 God's discipline is for our holiness. 00:30:04.17\00:30:06.03 Number three, God's discipline is redemptive. 00:30:06.07\00:30:10.37 2 Corinthians 4:17, 00:30:10.41\00:30:12.47 "Our light affliction," or you could say, 00:30:12.51\00:30:14.18 our discipline, which is about for a moment, what is it doing? 00:30:14.21\00:30:17.98 "It's working for us a far more exceeding 00:30:18.01\00:30:20.58 and eternal weight of glory." 00:30:20.62\00:30:23.32 It's working redemption, 00:30:23.35\00:30:25.19 you can say for us that gift of eternal life. 00:30:25.25\00:30:28.86 Number four, I love this. 00:30:28.92\00:30:30.43 God's discipline brings healing. 00:30:30.46\00:30:33.33 Job. 00:30:33.36\00:30:34.66 Job 5:17-18, 00:30:34.73\00:30:37.03 Job experienced some discipline. 00:30:37.07\00:30:38.90 "Behold, happy is the man whom God corrects 00:30:38.93\00:30:41.60 or whom God disciplines, 00:30:41.64\00:30:43.51 therefore do not despise the chastening of the Almighty. 00:30:43.54\00:30:47.08 For He bruises, but He binds up, 00:30:47.11\00:30:50.15 He wounds, but His hands make whole." 00:30:50.18\00:30:53.88 His discipline, it brings with it healing. 00:30:53.92\00:30:56.69 So how does He discipline us? 00:30:56.72\00:30:58.05 He disciplines us through other people. 00:30:58.09\00:31:00.72 He disciplines us through life's circumstances, 00:31:00.76\00:31:05.23 sometimes through the convicting power 00:31:05.29\00:31:07.30 of the Holy Spirit. 00:31:07.30\00:31:08.76 I'm so grateful that He does discipline us 00:31:08.83\00:31:10.87 because it's getting us ready for heaven. 00:31:10.90\00:31:13.37 Amen. Amen. 00:31:13.40\00:31:14.74 Amen. Discipline is a blessing. 00:31:14.77\00:31:17.67 Ryan, the first commandment says, 00:31:17.71\00:31:19.97 "Thou shalt have no other gods before me. 00:31:20.01\00:31:22.88 Thou shalt not make unto thee any graven image 00:31:22.91\00:31:25.98 or any likeness of anything that is in heaven, etc." 00:31:26.01\00:31:29.85 Is it okay to look at, or display a picture of Jesus, 00:31:29.88\00:31:33.72 or is that violating the commandment? 00:31:33.76\00:31:37.19 That's a great question. 00:31:37.23\00:31:38.56 I've actually had this question posed to me many times 00:31:38.59\00:31:41.43 being that I used to travel full time in evangelism, 00:31:41.46\00:31:43.87 and I had slides that I put up, you know, with pictures 00:31:43.90\00:31:46.40 and you know text beside the pictures, 00:31:46.43\00:31:49.14 and I've had a few people who've said to me, you know, 00:31:49.17\00:31:51.17 you're violating the second commandment. 00:31:51.21\00:31:53.24 I think when we go back and we look and we study 00:31:53.27\00:31:55.28 what it is the actual commandment is saying, 00:31:55.31\00:31:57.08 you will recognize that 00:31:57.11\00:31:58.45 the heart of the second commandment 00:31:58.48\00:31:59.91 is addressing the issue of worship, idol worship. 00:31:59.95\00:32:03.12 And, of course, you know, 00:32:03.15\00:32:04.49 well, we know we live in a world 00:32:04.52\00:32:05.85 where people are drawing pictures 00:32:05.92\00:32:07.26 and paintings and whatnot, 00:32:07.29\00:32:08.62 that is an artist's portrayal of what they believe 00:32:08.66\00:32:10.59 Jesus might look like, 00:32:10.63\00:32:12.09 even though the Bible does not give us 00:32:12.16\00:32:13.50 any detailed description as to how Jesus look like, 00:32:13.53\00:32:16.50 to simply just paint a picture 00:32:16.53\00:32:18.17 or draw a picture of what you might believe 00:32:18.20\00:32:20.57 your Savior to look like. 00:32:20.60\00:32:22.37 That is not the issue of the second commandment. 00:32:22.44\00:32:25.17 As we're reading through here you'll see, 00:32:25.21\00:32:26.94 it says, this is Exodus 20:4-6, 00:32:26.98\00:32:29.71 "You shall not make for yourself a carved image, 00:32:29.74\00:32:31.95 or any likeness of anything 00:32:31.98\00:32:33.31 that is in heaven above, or that is in the earth, 00:32:33.35\00:32:35.65 or that is of, 00:32:35.72\00:32:37.09 that is in the water under the earth, 00:32:37.12\00:32:38.79 you shall not," notice, 00:32:38.82\00:32:40.16 "bow down to them or serve them, 00:32:40.19\00:32:41.96 for I am the Lord your God. 00:32:41.99\00:32:43.32 I'm a jealous God, visiting the iniquity 00:32:43.36\00:32:44.69 of the fathers upon the children 00:32:44.73\00:32:46.36 to the third and fourth generations 00:32:46.39\00:32:47.73 of those who hate me, 00:32:47.76\00:32:49.20 but showing mercy to thousands 00:32:49.26\00:32:51.20 to those who love Me and keep My commandments." 00:32:51.23\00:32:53.03 So again, back to that bowing down 00:32:53.07\00:32:55.00 and not serving them. 00:32:55.04\00:32:56.37 Israel had this issue for a long time, 00:32:56.40\00:32:58.44 even in the world that we live in today 00:32:58.47\00:32:59.84 from since the beginning of time, 00:32:59.87\00:33:02.01 when Cain sinned 00:33:02.04\00:33:03.45 and when Adam and Eve sinned really 00:33:03.48\00:33:04.81 and brought sin into this world, 00:33:04.85\00:33:06.18 there has always been an idol issue, 00:33:06.21\00:33:08.62 even Satan himself before there ever was an 00:33:08.65\00:33:10.45 Adam and Eve or earth, Satan had made himself an idol, 00:33:10.49\00:33:14.22 he worshipped himself, and it didn't have to happen 00:33:14.26\00:33:16.89 because of some picture that was drawn or whatnot. 00:33:16.93\00:33:19.13 So the heart of this issue, 00:33:19.16\00:33:20.76 I believe is, you know, we can look at pictures 00:33:20.80\00:33:22.86 we can admire art, we can look at these things, 00:33:22.90\00:33:25.13 we just don't want to worship them 00:33:25.17\00:33:26.84 or be create an idol, in the sense that 00:33:26.87\00:33:29.50 you know we can't be a part or detached from those things, 00:33:29.54\00:33:32.37 in this case in the world that we live in today, 00:33:32.41\00:33:33.91 we need to make sure that 00:33:33.94\00:33:35.28 we only see them as just a picture, 00:33:35.34\00:33:37.51 an artist's portrayal of something 00:33:37.55\00:33:38.91 and not anything else. 00:33:38.95\00:33:40.28 Good. Very well said. Very well said. 00:33:40.32\00:33:42.48 Pastor Lomacang, this one comes from, 00:33:42.52\00:33:45.05 what would be considered as close to home for us. 00:33:45.09\00:33:48.09 This comes from Jacqueline out of New York 00:33:48.12\00:33:50.16 and she wants to know, 00:33:50.19\00:33:51.56 she said, "Would you please explain 00:33:51.59\00:33:53.36 Exodus 35:2-3?" 00:33:53.40\00:33:56.87 Okay, Exodus 35:2-3. 00:33:56.90\00:33:59.53 I'll go ahead and read it. 00:33:59.57\00:34:00.97 It says, "Work shall be done 00:34:01.00\00:34:03.00 for six days, 00:34:03.04\00:34:05.21 but the seventh day shall be a holy day for you, 00:34:05.24\00:34:08.61 a Sabbath of rest to the Lord. 00:34:08.64\00:34:10.88 Whoever does any work on it shall be put to death. 00:34:10.91\00:34:15.12 You shall kindle no fire 00:34:15.15\00:34:17.19 throughout your dwellings on the Sabbath day." 00:34:17.22\00:34:21.02 I read this passage 00:34:21.06\00:34:23.02 and read the surrounding verses. 00:34:23.06\00:34:24.76 Let me go ahead and give you my take on 00:34:24.79\00:34:27.60 what this is talking about. 00:34:27.66\00:34:29.33 God established a preparation day 00:34:29.36\00:34:31.30 to minimize the work 00:34:31.33\00:34:32.70 that was often done on the Sabbath. 00:34:32.73\00:34:35.30 Taking it back to how work was done 00:34:35.37\00:34:39.24 during Bible times, 00:34:39.27\00:34:41.01 and I won't even go that far back. 00:34:41.04\00:34:42.81 If you were living in the 1800s, 00:34:42.84\00:34:45.18 there were those who wouldn't shower 00:34:45.21\00:34:47.08 for three or four days, 00:34:47.12\00:34:48.78 because of all the work that it took to shower. 00:34:48.85\00:34:51.42 What do we have to do nowadays to shower? 00:34:51.45\00:34:54.52 That's it and, but what they had to do 00:34:54.56\00:34:56.79 back then is go out and cut the wood, 00:34:56.83\00:34:59.39 haul it in, go to the nearby river, 00:34:59.46\00:35:02.16 get a couple of buckets, build the fire. 00:35:02.20\00:35:05.60 Get that thing heated up, caught it, however they, 00:35:05.63\00:35:08.97 whatever apparatus, it'd be an hour, 00:35:09.00\00:35:10.64 maybe two before 00:35:10.67\00:35:12.01 they could even possibly take a bath. 00:35:12.04\00:35:14.38 And they said that this was undue work, 00:35:14.41\00:35:16.44 and it made the Sabbath a burden. 00:35:16.48\00:35:18.25 Today we don't say the same thing, 00:35:18.28\00:35:19.61 we say did you shower before you went to church? 00:35:19.68\00:35:22.18 The context here is undue labor on the Sabbath. 00:35:22.25\00:35:26.25 And the Bible calls this no survival work 00:35:26.32\00:35:29.49 should be done on the Sabbath. 00:35:29.52\00:35:30.86 That's the context of this, meaning something that 00:35:30.89\00:35:33.09 could be done other times of the week. 00:35:33.13\00:35:35.06 That's why the Preparation Day was given, 00:35:35.10\00:35:37.13 and this comes also a take away 00:35:37.17\00:35:39.20 from Exodus 16 where the Lord said, 00:35:39.27\00:35:41.64 "Don't go out on the Sabbath, looking for food. 00:35:41.67\00:35:43.71 I'm going to provide for you every day." 00:35:43.74\00:35:45.64 And some people still went out on the Sabbath and He said, 00:35:45.71\00:35:47.74 "How long do you refuse to keep My commandments, 00:35:47.78\00:35:52.01 My statutes and My laws." 00:35:52.05\00:35:53.72 Here's the thing that we have to keep in mind. 00:35:53.75\00:35:55.62 The Sabbath command is as sacred as the other nine. 00:35:55.65\00:35:58.72 That's right. 00:35:58.79\00:36:00.19 Don't think that by violating the Sabbath 00:36:00.22\00:36:02.09 that it's just another day. 00:36:02.12\00:36:04.19 It is a sign of loyalty to the eternal God. 00:36:04.23\00:36:07.60 Handle it with holiness and honor. 00:36:07.60\00:36:09.83 Amen. Amen. 00:36:09.86\00:36:11.20 Amen. Thank you Pastor. 00:36:11.23\00:36:12.77 Jill, have you studied Philippians 3? 00:36:12.80\00:36:15.84 Paul said, "He was blameless in his law keeping, 00:36:15.87\00:36:19.14 he gave it all up as a refusal 00:36:19.21\00:36:21.81 for that Excellency of Christ his Lord." 00:36:21.84\00:36:24.41 this comes from Margaret in Oregon. 00:36:24.45\00:36:26.88 Thank you, Margaret, for that question. 00:36:26.92\00:36:28.35 I think the passage 00:36:28.38\00:36:29.72 you're referring to is in Philippians 3:4-10. 00:36:29.75\00:36:32.39 We're going to read that quickly first, 00:36:32.42\00:36:34.02 so we know what we're talking about. 00:36:34.06\00:36:35.69 Paul speaking, he said, "If anyone thinks 00:36:35.76\00:36:37.89 he may have confidence in the flesh, 00:36:37.93\00:36:40.26 I more so," and then he goes 00:36:40.30\00:36:42.16 into this list of what he has done, 00:36:42.20\00:36:44.83 "circumcised the eighth day, 00:36:44.87\00:36:46.60 of the stock of Israel, of the tribe of Benjamin, 00:36:46.63\00:36:49.10 a Hebrew of the Hebrews, concerning the law, 00:36:49.14\00:36:51.41 a Pharisee, concerning zeal, persecuting the church, 00:36:51.44\00:36:54.94 concerning the righteousness 00:36:54.98\00:36:56.44 which is in the law, blameless. 00:36:56.48\00:36:58.68 But what things were gain to me, 00:36:58.71\00:37:00.45 these I have counted loss for Christ. 00:37:00.48\00:37:02.95 Yet indeed I also count all things loss 00:37:02.98\00:37:06.02 for the excellence of the knowledge 00:37:06.09\00:37:07.66 of Christ Jesus my Lord, 00:37:07.69\00:37:09.16 for whom I suffered the loss of all things, 00:37:09.19\00:37:11.56 and count them as rubbish." 00:37:11.59\00:37:12.93 Why? 00:37:12.96\00:37:14.30 "That I may gain Christ and be found in Him, 00:37:14.30\00:37:17.73 not having my own righteousness, 00:37:17.77\00:37:19.67 which is from the law, 00:37:19.73\00:37:21.07 but that which is through faith in Christ, 00:37:21.10\00:37:23.37 the righteousness which is from God by faith 00:37:23.41\00:37:26.47 that I may know Him 00:37:26.51\00:37:27.84 and the power of His resurrection, 00:37:27.88\00:37:29.38 and the fellowship of His sufferings, 00:37:29.44\00:37:30.88 being conformed to His death." 00:37:30.91\00:37:33.15 What's the takeaway? 00:37:33.21\00:37:34.55 You can keep the law, you can know the law, 00:37:34.58\00:37:36.52 excuse me, you can know the law, 00:37:36.58\00:37:38.19 but not keep it. 00:37:38.22\00:37:39.55 You can keep the law, outwardly, 00:37:39.59\00:37:41.52 but still violate the spirit of the law. 00:37:41.56\00:37:44.09 Motive is more important than actions. 00:37:44.13\00:37:47.03 Paul thought he might have achieved perfection 00:37:47.03\00:37:49.43 because he did all these things properly 00:37:49.46\00:37:52.03 according to the law, but that properness 00:37:52.07\00:37:55.17 according to the law resulted 00:37:55.20\00:37:56.54 in the persecution of God's people. 00:37:56.57\00:38:00.11 What did Paul give up? 00:38:00.14\00:38:01.48 He didn't give up the law. 00:38:01.51\00:38:02.88 He gave up his legalistic approach to life. 00:38:02.91\00:38:06.01 He gave up his concern with the outward man 00:38:06.05\00:38:08.82 as opposed to the inward man. 00:38:08.85\00:38:10.72 What did he gain? 00:38:10.75\00:38:12.09 He gained Christ 00:38:12.12\00:38:13.72 and Christ is the fulfillment of the law. 00:38:13.76\00:38:16.79 He didn't push the law aside, 00:38:16.83\00:38:19.23 he gained Christ, 00:38:19.29\00:38:20.63 he gained Christ's righteousness. 00:38:20.66\00:38:22.76 He gained Christ's holiness. 00:38:22.83\00:38:25.00 That's what he's talking about here in this passage. 00:38:25.03\00:38:28.17 Okay. Thank you. 00:38:28.20\00:38:29.57 Amen. Amen. 00:38:29.60\00:38:30.94 Ryan, Jesus only left us two commandments, 00:38:30.97\00:38:34.44 love God and love your neighbor. 00:38:34.48\00:38:36.41 Did He not fulfill the old commandments and laws? 00:38:36.44\00:38:39.18 This comes from Ronald at Maryland. 00:38:39.21\00:38:40.85 All right. 00:38:40.88\00:38:42.22 Well, the simple answer to that, 00:38:42.25\00:38:44.15 Ronald, is absolutely he fulfilled it 00:38:44.19\00:38:46.12 but we have to understand what that means, right? 00:38:46.15\00:38:48.46 From many people's perspective fulfill means to do away with, 00:38:48.49\00:38:51.59 or to cancel. 00:38:51.63\00:38:52.96 But we know that Jesus did not come to cancel 00:38:52.99\00:38:55.06 or to do away with that law. 00:38:55.10\00:38:56.60 Before I get to that passages let's read 00:38:56.63\00:38:58.23 what it is you're addressing here 00:38:58.27\00:38:59.67 which is Matthew 22:37-40. 00:38:59.70\00:39:03.17 It says here, Jesus said to him, 00:39:03.20\00:39:04.54 "You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, 00:39:04.57\00:39:06.74 and with all your soul, and with all your mind.' 00:39:06.78\00:39:08.91 This is the first and great commandment. 00:39:08.94\00:39:10.88 And the second is like it, 00:39:10.91\00:39:12.68 'You shall love your neighbor as yourself.' 00:39:12.71\00:39:15.18 "And then notice what verse 40 says in response to that? 00:39:15.22\00:39:17.89 It says, "On these two commandments 00:39:17.92\00:39:19.52 hang all the law and the prophets." 00:39:19.55\00:39:22.49 So again yes, the first commandment, 00:39:22.52\00:39:24.63 dealing with our relationship and our love for God. 00:39:24.66\00:39:26.59 Second commandment dealing with our relationship 00:39:26.66\00:39:28.43 and love for men. 00:39:28.46\00:39:29.80 The first it just happens to be as verse 40 says, 00:39:29.83\00:39:32.47 "On these two hang all the law," right? 00:39:32.50\00:39:34.27 The first four of the Ten Commandments 00:39:34.30\00:39:35.94 deal with our relationship with God. 00:39:35.97\00:39:37.47 If we love God, 00:39:37.51\00:39:38.84 we'll keep the first four commandments, 00:39:38.87\00:39:40.34 and of course the last six of the Ten Commandments 00:39:40.38\00:39:42.28 deal with our relationship with man. 00:39:42.31\00:39:44.48 If we love our fellowman, 00:39:44.51\00:39:45.85 we'll keep the last six commandments. 00:39:45.88\00:39:47.75 Now, did Christ fulfill the law 00:39:47.78\00:39:50.39 when He came and He died on the cross? 00:39:50.42\00:39:52.69 And the truth of matter is, 00:39:52.72\00:39:54.06 yes, He did but what does that mean? 00:39:54.09\00:39:55.56 It certainly does not mean that 00:39:55.59\00:39:56.99 He done away with or canceled the law. 00:39:57.03\00:39:59.93 Let's go to Matthew 5:17-18. 00:39:59.96\00:40:02.40 It says, "Do not think, 00:40:02.46\00:40:03.80 this is the words of Jesus Himself. 00:40:03.83\00:40:05.27 Do not think that I've come to destroy 00:40:05.30\00:40:07.07 the law of the prophets, 00:40:07.10\00:40:08.44 I did not come to destroy but to fulfill." 00:40:08.47\00:40:11.07 And so a lot of people take that word fulfilled and say, 00:40:11.11\00:40:12.97 "Oh, it means that 00:40:13.01\00:40:14.34 He came to fulfill it, to perfect it, 00:40:14.38\00:40:16.75 and then the law is done away with."' 00:40:16.78\00:40:18.11 But if we just inserted the word, 00:40:18.15\00:40:19.71 you know, done away with, 00:40:19.75\00:40:21.08 or cancel right there or abolished, it would read. 00:40:21.12\00:40:23.75 I did not come to destroy, but to destroy or to abolish, 00:40:23.79\00:40:27.29 and we know that that's simply not the case. 00:40:27.32\00:40:29.22 In fact verse 18 says, 00:40:29.26\00:40:30.59 "For verily I say to you to heaven 00:40:30.63\00:40:31.99 and earth pass away, 00:40:32.03\00:40:33.36 one jot or one tittle shall in no wise pass from the law 00:40:33.40\00:40:36.03 until all be fulfilled." 00:40:36.06\00:40:37.83 Are we still here on earth? 00:40:37.87\00:40:39.23 Is there still heavens? 00:40:39.30\00:40:40.74 You know, has all been fulfilled yet? 00:40:40.77\00:40:42.70 Absolutely not. 00:40:42.77\00:40:44.11 Christ did fulfill the law 00:40:44.14\00:40:45.47 in the sense that He gave the... 00:40:45.51\00:40:46.84 He basically gave 00:40:46.88\00:40:48.74 what the law required which was perfection. 00:40:48.78\00:40:51.05 He was the perfect sacrifice, 00:40:51.08\00:40:52.78 but He certainly never done away 00:40:52.81\00:40:55.28 with the Ten Commandments. 00:40:55.32\00:40:56.65 That's right. It's good. 00:40:56.69\00:40:58.02 Excellent. Excellent. 00:40:58.05\00:40:59.42 Pastor Lomacang, how will every eye see 00:40:59.45\00:41:02.02 and every ear hear the coming of the Lord 00:41:02.06\00:41:04.26 when the world is round 00:41:04.29\00:41:06.03 and Jesus was the size of a man? 00:41:06.09\00:41:08.83 I'm so glad they put that word in there was, 00:41:08.86\00:41:12.50 the size of a man. 00:41:12.53\00:41:14.37 Very much God, and very much 00:41:14.40\00:41:16.87 He was the Son of God and the Son of man 00:41:16.91\00:41:18.57 in His condescended form. 00:41:18.61\00:41:21.08 When He rose, He said, 00:41:21.11\00:41:22.44 "All power is given unto Me in heaven and earth." 00:41:22.51\00:41:24.88 Let's just look at some physics 00:41:24.91\00:41:26.28 for a brief moment before I read the text to you. 00:41:26.31\00:41:28.82 The total circumference of the earth... 00:41:28.85\00:41:30.32 If you took a rubber band or tape measurement 00:41:30.35\00:41:33.15 and went to the middle of the earth and worn around 00:41:33.22\00:41:35.69 it is 24,000 miles in circumference. 00:41:35.72\00:41:38.73 How fast does light travel? 00:41:38.76\00:41:40.46 A 186,200 miles a second. 00:41:40.50\00:41:44.13 The Bible says in Matthew 24:31, 00:41:44.17\00:41:46.30 "He will send His angels 00:41:46.37\00:41:48.60 with a great sound of a trumpet, 00:41:48.64\00:41:50.31 and they will gather together His elect from the four winds, 00:41:50.34\00:41:53.98 north, east, south and west, 00:41:54.01\00:41:56.01 from one end of heaven to the other, not earth. 00:41:56.08\00:42:01.45 The heavens are going to be filled with angels, not earth. 00:42:01.48\00:42:05.49 How big is the heavens? 00:42:05.52\00:42:07.16 Much larger than the earth. 00:42:07.19\00:42:09.32 If they were just traveling at the speed of light, 00:42:09.39\00:42:13.06 they would surround the earth seven times 00:42:13.09\00:42:15.40 in less than a second 00:42:15.43\00:42:17.10 Tell me every eye won't see Him. 00:42:17.13\00:42:18.47 That's right. 00:42:18.50\00:42:19.87 When the Bible says, "Behold, 00:42:19.90\00:42:21.24 He is coming with clouds, and every eye will see Him." 00:42:21.27\00:42:23.04 The Bible says, "The lame will walk, 00:42:23.07\00:42:25.14 the deaf will hear, the blind will see." 00:42:25.17\00:42:29.18 Nobody is going to miss it 00:42:29.21\00:42:31.01 because Paul says, 00:42:31.05\00:42:33.18 "At the name of Jesus every knee will bow 00:42:33.25\00:42:36.82 and every tongue will confess that 00:42:36.85\00:42:39.49 Jesus Christ is Lord to the glory of the Father. 00:42:39.52\00:42:43.96 So, what am I saying? 00:42:43.99\00:42:46.46 Jeremiah 32:27, "Behold, I am the Lord, 00:42:46.53\00:42:49.66 the God of all flesh." 00:42:49.70\00:42:52.20 Is there anything too hard? 00:42:52.23\00:42:55.27 Praise God. Amen to that. 00:42:55.30\00:42:57.81 I just had to give Jesus that acknowledgement, 00:42:57.84\00:43:00.24 there's nothing that He can't do. 00:43:00.28\00:43:01.64 Thank you. That's right. 00:43:01.68\00:43:03.01 Amen. Praise God for that. 00:43:03.04\00:43:05.61 We are entering into our bonus question round, 00:43:05.65\00:43:09.12 so I will just throw out a bonus question 00:43:09.15\00:43:11.39 and anybody can answer it, or all of you can answer it. 00:43:11.42\00:43:15.26 When starting to say our prayer 00:43:15.29\00:43:17.46 should we always address the Father in Jesus' name, 00:43:17.49\00:43:20.93 or can we address our prayers directly to Jesus? 00:43:20.96\00:43:23.97 For example, dear Jesus. 00:43:24.00\00:43:25.73 This comes from Wendy. 00:43:25.77\00:43:27.50 If I just sense, why don't you guys talk first? 00:43:27.54\00:43:30.21 Well, I very much believe that 00:43:30.24\00:43:32.67 you call upon the name of the Lord. 00:43:32.71\00:43:34.61 Bible says call upon the name of the Lord 00:43:34.64\00:43:35.98 and you shall be saved, right? 00:43:36.04\00:43:37.88 I believe in a very prayerful, very serious sense Peter, 00:43:37.91\00:43:41.95 while he was far falling into that water 00:43:41.98\00:43:43.59 after he taken his eyes off Jesus, 00:43:43.62\00:43:44.95 what was his mini prayer at that moment? 00:43:44.99\00:43:47.36 Lord save me. 00:43:47.39\00:43:49.16 I think we have to use some wisdom here. 00:43:49.19\00:43:51.23 In this case you know when I pray, 00:43:51.26\00:43:52.99 I always pray, I always say, you know, 00:43:53.03\00:43:55.50 Father, you know, that, 00:43:55.53\00:43:57.27 that model prayer that Jesus gave us, you know, 00:43:57.30\00:43:59.30 "Our Father in heaven" I say, "Our Father in heaven," 00:43:59.33\00:44:01.74 but I always prayed in Jesus' name, 00:44:01.77\00:44:03.64 and there's often times that 00:44:03.67\00:44:05.01 I find myself saying, Dear Lord, 00:44:05.04\00:44:06.98 you know, or Jesus please help me, 00:44:07.01\00:44:08.61 you know, Jesus is God, 00:44:08.64\00:44:10.81 and just as much as the Father is God. 00:44:10.85\00:44:13.15 Now there's a hierarchy there I recognize from 00:44:13.21\00:44:15.22 within the respective sense of the Godhead 00:44:15.25\00:44:17.45 that even the Father and the Son 00:44:17.49\00:44:18.82 and the Holy Spirit recognize, 00:44:18.85\00:44:20.62 but nonetheless I believe that 00:44:20.66\00:44:22.46 whether you're praying to the Father 00:44:22.49\00:44:23.83 or you're praying to Jesus. 00:44:23.86\00:44:25.19 It's still the same thing, 00:44:25.23\00:44:26.59 it's still recognized, and the Bible says that 00:44:26.63\00:44:28.56 even the Holy Spirit hear sometimes, 00:44:28.60\00:44:30.30 we know not what are to pray 00:44:30.33\00:44:32.20 and He intercedes on our behalf, 00:44:32.23\00:44:33.60 I believe that's Romans Chapter 8. 00:44:33.64\00:44:35.47 And so, yeah, I would say in this case 00:44:35.50\00:44:37.37 whether you're praying to the Father 00:44:37.41\00:44:38.74 or praying to Jesus, you're praying to your God, 00:44:38.77\00:44:41.04 and He hears you 00:44:41.08\00:44:42.41 if you're genuinely asking for Him and asking for help. 00:44:42.44\00:44:45.45 Amen. Amen. 00:44:45.48\00:44:46.88 That's well said, yeah, I like that. 00:44:46.92\00:44:48.72 I don't have anything to share, that's really good, Ryan. 00:44:48.75\00:44:50.82 Let me piggyback on that 00:44:50.85\00:44:52.25 because I like that you introduce Romans 8:26, 00:44:52.29\00:44:55.76 and I wanna read it because it really helps 00:44:55.79\00:44:58.23 when you understand how prayer is done, 00:44:58.26\00:45:00.60 because you've heard children asked questions 00:45:00.63\00:45:03.30 and one of the questions that children ask is, why? 00:45:03.37\00:45:07.00 You answered. Why? 00:45:07.04\00:45:08.37 You answered. Why? 00:45:08.40\00:45:09.77 Sooner or later you don't have any more answers. 00:45:09.80\00:45:11.91 The Lord knows that. 00:45:11.94\00:45:13.27 I like what it said, 00:45:13.34\00:45:14.68 "Likewise the Spirit also helps in our weaknesses, 00:45:14.71\00:45:19.15 for we do not know 00:45:19.18\00:45:20.52 what we should pray for as we ought." 00:45:20.55\00:45:21.88 That's right. 00:45:21.92\00:45:23.25 Even James says, "Sometimes we pray for things 00:45:23.28\00:45:24.92 that we just want to, we ask a miss 00:45:24.95\00:45:26.82 because we want to spend it on ourselves." 00:45:26.86\00:45:28.99 But here's where prayer gets divine assistance. 00:45:29.02\00:45:31.66 "But the Spirit himself makes intercession for us 00:45:31.69\00:45:36.80 with groanings which cannot be uttered. 00:45:36.83\00:45:38.83 We can't do it, so, so much 00:45:38.87\00:45:40.84 for the angelic prayer ideology. 00:45:40.87\00:45:43.14 And then it says in verse 27, 00:45:43.17\00:45:44.61 "Now he who searches the heart knows 00:45:44.64\00:45:47.14 what the mind of the Spirit is." 00:45:47.18\00:45:49.38 The Lord searches the heart, because He makes intercession, 00:45:49.41\00:45:52.61 Jesus, for the saints according to the will of God. 00:45:52.65\00:45:58.02 So you have the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit 00:45:58.05\00:46:00.42 really concerned about 00:46:00.46\00:46:01.79 what you're going to pray about it, 00:46:01.82\00:46:03.16 and when they understand 00:46:03.22\00:46:04.63 what your need is above just what you said, 00:46:04.66\00:46:07.00 like somebody might say, I know you asked for $5 00:46:07.03\00:46:08.90 but you need $1500, don't you, Ryan? 00:46:08.93\00:46:10.87 Yeah, but I don't want to ask. 00:46:10.90\00:46:12.63 You know the Lord looks beyond our infirmities 00:46:12.67\00:46:16.57 and sees deeper to the level of it. 00:46:16.64\00:46:18.61 And that's where Romans 8:28 comes out, 00:46:18.64\00:46:20.81 say it Jill, "And we know..." 00:46:20.84\00:46:22.24 "That all things work together for good to those who love Him, 00:46:22.28\00:46:25.61 to those who are the called according to His purpose." 00:46:25.65\00:46:28.35 Because our prayers are understood 00:46:28.38\00:46:30.62 and our God understands. 00:46:30.65\00:46:32.19 Amen. Amen. 00:46:32.22\00:46:33.59 Amen. It's powerful. 00:46:33.62\00:46:34.96 Yes. 00:46:34.99\00:46:36.32 If God alone is immortal then why is the devil 00:46:36.36\00:46:39.19 still alive 00:46:39.23\00:46:40.56 after all these thousands of years? 00:46:40.60\00:46:42.30 This comes from Steve out of Pennsylvania. 00:46:42.33\00:46:45.97 Well, I'll just jump in real quick 00:46:46.00\00:46:47.34 and let the rest of you theologians polish it up 00:46:47.37\00:46:49.40 and make it sound better, 00:46:49.44\00:46:50.77 but what I was 00:46:50.81\00:46:52.14 just thinking is that the wages of sin is death. 00:46:52.17\00:46:54.38 The Word of God is very clear on that. 00:46:54.41\00:46:56.14 From the moment Adam and Eve sinned, 00:46:56.18\00:46:58.25 death entered this world. 00:46:58.28\00:47:00.48 We know in 1 Corinthians that, 00:47:00.52\00:47:02.12 "By Adam sin entered this world, 00:47:02.15\00:47:04.45 but in Christ we should all be made alive." 00:47:04.49\00:47:07.12 But what's interesting to me is when they sinned, 00:47:07.19\00:47:09.69 there was not immediate flowers dying, 00:47:09.76\00:47:11.89 the trees didn't crack and fall, 00:47:11.93\00:47:13.53 winter didn't come instantly. 00:47:13.56\00:47:15.03 In fact Adam lived close to 1000 years 00:47:15.06\00:47:17.53 or 900 some years before he actually died. 00:47:17.57\00:47:20.70 So the wages of sin is death, 00:47:20.74\00:47:23.00 but there will come an end to Satan. 00:47:23.04\00:47:25.94 Yes, but that end is not yet, but it's coming soon. 00:47:25.97\00:47:29.11 That's right. Ryan? 00:47:29.14\00:47:30.65 Yeah, you know, I want to add here the fact 00:47:30.68\00:47:32.01 that what would have happened 00:47:32.05\00:47:33.82 if God would have crushed him 00:47:33.85\00:47:35.18 like a little mosquito the moment that he... 00:47:35.22\00:47:38.09 that he sinned 00:47:38.12\00:47:39.45 or that he rebelled against Him. 00:47:39.49\00:47:40.82 We have to recognize that that war in heaven 00:47:40.86\00:47:42.46 when it says that Michael and his angels 00:47:42.49\00:47:43.96 fought the dragon, you know, 00:47:43.99\00:47:45.33 and there was a war in heaven, that war was begun 00:47:45.36\00:47:47.60 because Satan had begun to spread lies 00:47:47.66\00:47:49.63 about who God was. 00:47:49.66\00:47:51.00 He was questioning the character of God. 00:47:51.03\00:47:52.57 So if God would have you know in that instance, 00:47:52.60\00:47:54.90 gave him the death that he deserves. 00:47:54.94\00:47:56.77 Okay, because of his sin, what would that have... 00:47:56.81\00:47:59.01 What type of witness would that have said about 00:47:59.04\00:48:00.91 God for those angels that were questioning the lie 00:48:00.94\00:48:03.98 that the devil had told. 00:48:04.01\00:48:05.48 And so in this case you know, Ezekiel Chapter 28 tells us, 00:48:05.51\00:48:09.12 and I'm going here to read down a little bit here. 00:48:09.15\00:48:12.02 It says that, 00:48:12.05\00:48:13.59 trying to find the particular verse, 00:48:13.66\00:48:14.99 but it's in Ezekiel Chapter 28 00:48:15.02\00:48:17.79 and it talks about how I laid you before kings. 00:48:17.83\00:48:20.86 Here it is, it's verse 17, "Your heart was lifted up 00:48:20.90\00:48:23.47 because of your beauty. 00:48:23.53\00:48:24.87 You corrupted your wisdom for the sake of your splendor. 00:48:24.90\00:48:26.94 I cast you to the ground, 00:48:27.00\00:48:28.54 I laid you before kings that they might gaze at you." 00:48:28.57\00:48:32.14 In this case, 00:48:32.17\00:48:33.54 the great controversy must play out. 00:48:33.58\00:48:35.78 And so God has to allow not that 00:48:35.81\00:48:38.25 He necessarily because we know the Bible 00:48:38.28\00:48:40.08 makes it very clear that Satan will have his end, 00:48:40.12\00:48:42.35 he will have his judgment, he will have his punishment, 00:48:42.38\00:48:45.95 greater than any one before, 00:48:45.99\00:48:47.86 but God must allow that life to contain in him, 00:48:47.89\00:48:50.93 so that the great controversy battle can play out, 00:48:50.96\00:48:53.46 so that he can lay before these kings, 00:48:53.50\00:48:55.13 in this case, the world, the people of this world. 00:48:55.16\00:48:57.73 We must be able to make a decision 00:48:57.77\00:49:00.74 between what is right and what is wrong, 00:49:00.77\00:49:02.37 and in this case God's name must be, 00:49:02.40\00:49:04.31 His name and His character must be vindicated. 00:49:04.34\00:49:06.57 And the story must go on until the appointed time 00:49:06.64\00:49:10.65 in which God has been completely vindicated 00:49:10.68\00:49:13.18 that character has been reproduced 00:49:13.21\00:49:14.68 in His own people for all of the world, 00:49:14.72\00:49:16.85 and all of the angels in heaven to see that 00:49:16.89\00:49:18.72 God was indeed just. 00:49:18.75\00:49:20.79 It's good. 00:49:20.82\00:49:22.16 It reminds me of the man who shook his fist at God 00:49:22.19\00:49:24.03 and just cursed to the heavenly in the skies, 00:49:24.06\00:49:26.06 he said, "If God is really there, 00:49:26.09\00:49:28.10 why don't He strike me with lightning?" 00:49:28.13\00:49:30.13 And the Christian said, 00:49:30.20\00:49:31.53 "Because God is long suffering." 00:49:31.57\00:49:32.90 Yeah. That's right. 00:49:32.93\00:49:34.27 You know the long suffering of God 00:49:34.30\00:49:35.64 is something that we often, 00:49:35.67\00:49:37.01 is only a characteristic of perfect love. 00:49:37.04\00:49:39.57 God is long suffering because He wants as Ryan said 00:49:39.61\00:49:42.01 and Jill said so wonderfully. 00:49:42.04\00:49:43.61 He wants us to see that He is not an angry God. 00:49:43.68\00:49:47.15 He's not a God that 00:49:47.18\00:49:48.52 just can't wait to take it out on the person 00:49:48.55\00:49:51.19 who is just really trying to challenge His authority. 00:49:51.22\00:49:55.22 A lot of people with that kind of power 00:49:55.26\00:49:56.69 and authority would have bounced Satan off 00:49:56.76\00:49:58.99 of the nearest constellation in a matter of seconds. 00:49:59.03\00:50:01.86 But God is different. 00:50:01.90\00:50:04.20 He is long suffering and abundant in mercies, 00:50:04.23\00:50:06.94 He's compassionate and gracious. 00:50:06.97\00:50:09.50 Because the record of how God handled 00:50:09.54\00:50:12.24 the issue of sin is gonna last a lot longer 00:50:12.27\00:50:15.24 than sin itself. 00:50:15.28\00:50:16.64 Amen. 00:50:16.68\00:50:18.01 So for eons and eons in the unfallen worlds 00:50:18.05\00:50:20.72 and when we look back on how God, 00:50:20.75\00:50:23.28 and here's where I want to connect it 00:50:23.32\00:50:24.65 to humanity. 00:50:24.69\00:50:26.02 I'm glad that God is long suffering 00:50:26.05\00:50:27.96 'cause He could have wiped me out a long time ago too. 00:50:27.99\00:50:29.62 What about you, Ryan? 00:50:29.66\00:50:30.99 When Ryan was partying and disc jockeying 00:50:31.03\00:50:33.29 and I was on the same thing and we were living. 00:50:33.33\00:50:34.96 Come on, Jason, would you be here 00:50:35.00\00:50:36.33 if God wasn't long suffering? 00:50:36.36\00:50:37.70 No. I wouldn't be here. 00:50:37.73\00:50:39.07 You'd been in jail someplace. 00:50:39.10\00:50:40.44 You could have been had an arrest 00:50:40.50\00:50:41.84 record longer than your arm. 00:50:41.87\00:50:43.20 But God expunged that because God is long suffering. 00:50:43.24\00:50:44.67 Thank God that 00:50:44.71\00:50:46.04 He is a God of long suffering and mercy. 00:50:46.07\00:50:47.68 So when the controversy is ended. 00:50:47.71\00:50:49.44 I love the way you said that, Ryan, people will look back 00:50:49.48\00:50:52.01 and say He is just, He is long suffering, 00:50:52.05\00:50:55.82 and every decision He has made is been true. 00:50:55.85\00:51:00.09 So, the devil will have no excuse, 00:51:00.12\00:51:02.29 he'll never say, God rushed to judgment. 00:51:02.32\00:51:06.36 You know, I'll just go quickly, 00:51:06.39\00:51:07.73 can't you imagine when we get to heaven, 00:51:07.76\00:51:09.26 God's gonna show us things 00:51:09.30\00:51:10.63 that we never could even imagine or see now. 00:51:10.67\00:51:12.53 And so, this question the one we just ask it's great 00:51:12.57\00:51:14.87 because God's gonna say, let me really show you 00:51:14.90\00:51:16.57 what would have happened 00:51:16.60\00:51:17.94 if I would have snuffed Satan out 00:51:17.97\00:51:19.31 way back here. 00:51:19.34\00:51:20.68 Wow. 00:51:20.71\00:51:22.04 It must happen the way that God sees fit. 00:51:22.08\00:51:23.41 That's right. 00:51:23.45\00:51:24.78 Could you imagine what your guardian angel 00:51:24.81\00:51:27.08 is probably saying or will, 00:51:27.12\00:51:28.92 what they will say when we get there? 00:51:28.95\00:51:31.32 I know mine will be great. Yeah. 00:51:31.35\00:51:33.82 Yes. 00:51:33.86\00:51:35.62 If there were currency up there, 00:51:35.66\00:51:37.19 I'd have to write a big check. 00:51:37.23\00:51:38.56 Let's put it that way.
