This has been, I want to say, kind of an annual tradition 00:01:32.45\00:01:37.23 of the Akins being here. 00:01:37.23\00:01:38.26 Paula and Curtis, Akins are in the house, right? 00:01:38.26\00:01:41.46 Praise the Lord. 00:01:41.53\00:01:44.70 and that has to do with diabetes. 00:01:44.70\00:01:47.34 And when they always come here, it seems like I always kind of 00:01:48.54\00:01:51.31 smell something cooking in the kitchen too, right? 00:01:51.31\00:01:53.07 They always come to do a little cooking here too. 00:01:53.44\00:01:55.54 They do indeed. 00:01:55.61\00:01:56.24 And we have a whole program. 00:01:56.24\00:01:58.11 The second hour is all cooking in the kitchen with Curtis and 00:01:58.41\00:02:03.18 Paula. So you want to make sure you stay tuned for the second 00:02:03.25\00:02:06.39 hour as they bring us some Mexican cuisine. 00:02:06.39\00:02:07.72 But tonight's all about defeating diabetes. 00:02:07.72\00:02:11.86 And some of our favorite people in the whole world is Curtis and 00:02:12.36\00:02:15.43 Paula Akins. 00:02:15.43\00:02:16.16 They are, of course, the South Central Conference Health 00:02:16.63\00:02:19.43 Ministries co-directors. 00:02:19.43\00:02:21.84 And why is it co-directors instead of like president and 00:02:22.27\00:02:25.41 vice president? 00:02:25.41\00:02:28.08 that. 00:02:28.08\00:02:30.45 So I need to be president and vice president? 00:02:30.61\00:02:32.11 No, no, it has to be two presidents. 00:02:32.11\00:02:34.95 a vice. 00:02:34.95\00:02:38.42 kind of renegotiate that term. 00:02:38.42\00:02:40.26 After 15 years, we never thought about that. 00:02:42.06\00:02:44.33 Our president, Ben Jones, will be talking to you shortly. 00:02:45.83\00:02:48.46 No, we're equal partners. 00:02:49.00\00:02:50.73 Equal partners. 00:02:51.43\00:02:56.74 So let's keep it going. 00:02:56.91\00:02:57.64 Yeah, equal partners. 00:02:58.47\00:02:59.44 Congratulations too, though. 00:02:59.87\00:03:00.74 That's a lot. 00:03:00.84\00:03:01.34 31 years. 00:03:01.41\00:03:02.31 Yeah, so actually 32. 00:03:02.31\00:03:04.05 We actually dated because we have a like interest on health. 00:03:04.25\00:03:08.25 I was a medical herbalist and everything can be cured by 00:03:08.72\00:03:12.35 herbs. And I knew that I was unbalanced. 00:03:12.55\00:03:14.02 I need somebody to know something about nutrition. 00:03:14.39\00:03:17.33 My mom said, oh, that's a lady. 00:03:18.36\00:03:19.96 She just graduated, got her master's degree in nutrition. 00:03:20.13\00:03:22.53 And Paula Johnson at the time. 00:03:23.30\00:03:24.73 And so I contacted her and said, look, I want to start a medical 00:03:24.93\00:03:28.34 missionary workshop on the campus of Oakwood College. 00:03:28.34\00:03:31.64 The new girl's doing, Wade Hall. 00:03:31.64\00:03:33.61 I'll do the herbal part. 00:03:34.48\00:03:35.71 And I said, honey, you do... 00:03:36.34\00:03:37.68 Well, I didn't say honey at first. 00:03:37.68\00:03:38.71 I said, you're doing the nutrition part. 00:03:38.81\00:03:41.78 And so that's how I started working together for at least 00:03:42.32\00:03:45.95 six months. Every once a month on Sunday. 00:03:47.12\00:03:49.09 And we started working together as a team. 00:03:49.62\00:03:51.19 And then after a while, I said, Lord, get her for me. 00:03:51.33\00:03:54.40 She pleases me well. 00:03:54.40\00:03:55.40 So I kind of jumped a whole lot on that one. 00:03:55.90\00:03:57.70 Yes, you did. 00:03:57.70\00:03:58.17 Yeah, a whole lot. 00:03:58.20\00:03:59.03 Yeah. 00:03:59.03\00:04:02.60 Amen. 00:04:02.67\00:04:03.17 So 32 years. 00:04:03.20\00:04:04.21 Congratulations to both of you. 00:04:04.51\00:04:05.74 So this role here with the South Central Conference, you've been 00:04:06.31\00:04:08.91 with them and with the health ministries for about, what, 14, 00:04:08.91\00:04:11.78 15 years. 00:04:11.78\00:04:12.21 Yeah, 15 years now. 00:04:12.31\00:04:13.55 Yes, South Central Conference. 00:04:13.58\00:04:14.75 So it was great for that. 00:04:14.98\00:04:19.09 of the longest running, continually running programs on 00:04:19.09\00:04:23.36 3ABN called... 00:10:19.21\00:10:22.22 And this is education, education, education. 00:10:22.32\00:10:24.59 And that's so important because then people can take that back. 00:10:25.09\00:10:27.69 The knowledge they have learned there at the retreat center to 00:10:27.69\00:10:30.56 their communities, to their churches, and share that. 00:10:30.56\00:10:33.19 And that ripple grows bigger and bigger. 00:10:33.40\00:10:34.63 So the impact is huge. 00:10:34.66\00:10:36.33 It's not just for one person or two people or three people. 00:10:36.56\00:10:39.03 This gets bigger and bigger. 00:10:39.07\00:10:40.04 So again, very excited about that. 00:10:40.34\00:10:41.74 Contact them, though. 00:10:42.04\00:10:44.97 the email. 00:10:44.97\00:10:45.47 And you can get more information. 00:10:45.77\00:10:46.61 They'll give you pictures and stuff. 00:10:46.64\00:10:47.94 Because this is an incredible opportunity for them. 00:10:48.04\00:10:51.45 So I'm excited about it. 00:10:51.45\00:10:51.48 when pastors come to town and they need a hideout place, they 00:10:55.68\00:10:59.45 can come. 00:10:59.45\00:11:03.36 time, for a pastor's retreat. 00:11:03.36\00:11:05.39 They can actually come there and stay as well. 00:11:05.63\00:11:07.66 So educate all the way around, all the way around. 00:11:08.03\00:11:10.30 That's really good. 00:11:10.30\00:11:10.33 Yeah. 00:11:11.03\00:11:11.07 So tonight's... 00:11:12.53\00:11:13.44 Go ahead, babe. 00:11:13.44\00:11:15.77 Me too. 00:11:16.04\00:11:16.50 We really believe. 00:11:16.54\00:11:20.68 is doing in and through your ministry. 00:11:20.68\00:11:22.08 Absolutely. 00:11:22.21\00:11:28.82 What am I trying to say? 00:11:28.82\00:11:29.75 You have to know why you do what you do. 00:11:29.78\00:11:32.69 That's true. 00:11:32.69\00:11:33.12 In order to make a change. 00:11:33.32\00:11:34.39 Yes. 00:11:34.39\00:11:34.89 Because that is so vital. 00:11:35.02\00:11:36.16 You can say, okay, you need to eat plant-based. 00:11:36.19\00:11:37.83 Well, great. 00:11:37.96\00:11:38.79 After a week, I'm sick of plant -based. 00:11:38.83\00:11:40.13 I don't want to do it. 00:11:40.23\00:11:41.00 I have to know why I need to do this. 00:11:41.03\00:11:42.93 Yeah. 00:11:42.93\00:11:43.33 There you go. 00:11:43.33\00:11:43.83 Yes. 00:11:44.07\00:11:46.63 And speaking of that, tonight we're talking about diabetes. 00:11:46.90\00:11:49.84 Diabetes. 00:11:50.01\00:11:50.41 Defeating diabetes. 00:11:51.24\00:11:51.74 So what is diabetes? 00:11:51.74\00:11:53.07 And why do we even need to be talking about diabetes? 00:11:53.07\00:11:55.34 Okay, so now this is... 00:11:55.78\00:11:57.58 You see the banner there as well. 00:11:57.58\00:11:58.75 Hopefully you can zoom in on that as well. 00:11:58.85\00:12:00.75 And so number one, let me just first define the term. 00:12:01.18\00:12:05.09 And we're going to put as much as we can in this first hour. 00:12:05.42\00:12:07.99 Now this is a three-hour defeating diabetes conference. 00:12:08.02\00:12:12.43 We're going to crunch it down in about 40 minutes or so. 00:12:12.56\00:12:16.43 And you're going to be part of this discussion as well. 00:12:17.33\00:12:20.07 You mean you and I? 00:12:20.34\00:12:20.77 Yes. 00:12:21.27\00:12:21.77 So what is diabetes? 00:12:21.77\00:12:23.57 In simplified terms, diabetes is when blood sugar, glucose, 00:12:24.14\00:12:30.78 remains abnormally high in the bloodstream. 00:12:30.78\00:12:34.52 So when I say blood sugar, glucose, remains abnormally high 00:12:34.88\00:12:43.79 in the bloodstream. 00:12:43.79\00:12:44.43 Now, what is high? 00:12:44.89\00:12:46.83 Well, there's two ways to determining how high is as far 00:12:47.23\00:12:51.90 as diabetes is concerned. 00:12:51.90\00:12:52.63 Short-term is a finger prick. 00:12:53.13\00:12:55.00 All right? 00:12:55.94\00:12:56.40 And this is fast in blood sugar. 00:12:56.64\00:12:57.97 You haven't had anything to eat, let's say, for eight hours. 00:12:58.14\00:13:00.64 And if that number is 126 or higher, that's a diabetic. 00:13:00.94\00:13:05.91 That's short-term, all right? 00:13:06.95\00:13:08.58 Finger prick, all right? 00:13:08.75\00:13:09.58 At that moment, diabetic, all right? 00:13:09.75\00:13:11.92 A long-term is what we call an A1C. 00:13:12.59\00:13:16.62 Now, A1C, hemoglobin, red blood cells. 00:13:16.62\00:13:20.03 We get red blood cells every three months, all right? 00:13:20.06\00:13:22.43 So here's a red blood cell. 00:13:22.73\00:13:24.07 On top of the red blood cell is the glucose. 00:13:24.57\00:13:27.37 So if you check the red blood cells, you also check the 00:13:27.94\00:13:31.71 glucose and know the glucose over the period of two to three 00:13:31.71\00:13:35.78 months, since red blood cells last for three months, depending 00:13:36.14\00:13:39.48 on when you check it. 00:13:39.48\00:13:43.62 whether or not a person is a diabetic, all right? 00:13:44.29\00:13:46.59 A1C is what it's called. 00:13:46.59\00:13:48.16 Now, if that number, percentage, is 6.5 or higher, then you're a 00:13:48.59\00:13:54.50 diabetic. 00:13:54.50\00:13:58.50 -term. 00:13:58.50\00:14:00.27 And so, now, when that number is really high, it has a tremendous 00:14:00.77\00:14:09.14 impact on the economic impact of the United States and the world, 00:14:09.14\00:14:13.78 when it's really high. 00:14:13.88\00:14:14.65 The world, okay. 00:14:14.65\00:14:15.82 The world, because this is the epidemic. 00:14:16.15\00:14:17.99 Wow. 00:14:18.12\00:14:18.62 This is the epidemic. 00:14:18.69\00:14:19.42 So I want you guys to hold on to your seat. 00:14:20.72\00:14:23.09 Okay, I got it. 00:14:23.86\00:14:24.63 I got to hold on to my seat. 00:14:24.73\00:14:25.46 Ready? 00:14:25.46\00:14:25.66 Okay, yes. 00:14:25.96\00:14:28.90 know what I'm going to say, but she still holds on to her seat. 00:14:28.90\00:14:30.97 When blood, sugar, glucose, once the A1C reached around 7% or 00:14:32.37\00:14:39.11 higher, or 154, that's the fingerprint, 00:14:39.11\00:14:42.81 when you start seeing very serious problems with the body 00:14:45.91\00:14:54.32 from head to toe. 00:14:54.32\00:14:56.22 Okay, let me start from the head and go down to the toe. 00:14:56.26\00:14:59.63 Number one, diabetes is the leading cause of adult 00:15:00.20\00:15:06.94 blindness. Oh, wow. 00:15:07.54\00:15:08.04 The leading cause. 00:15:08.17\00:15:09.14 The leading cause of adult blindness. 00:15:09.24\00:15:11.64 When blood sugar is abnormally high, it damages the retina of 00:15:11.64\00:15:18.08 the eye. 00:15:18.08\00:15:18.68 Therefore, the term is diabetic retinopathy. 00:15:19.01\00:15:22.55 So the leading cause of adult blindness with high blood sugar 00:15:23.42\00:15:28.32 that's sustained uncontrolled. 00:15:28.32\00:15:30.46 That's number one. 00:15:30.93\00:15:31.69 Let's go down to the heart. 00:15:31.96\00:15:33.29 When a person has diabetes, then there's less blood flow, so it 00:15:33.83\00:15:38.50 increases the risk of a heart attack. 00:15:38.50\00:15:40.87 And that's two to four times more than a person who does not 00:15:41.50\00:15:45.17 have diabetes. 00:15:45.17\00:15:45.77 So a lot of times on a death certificate, it may have died of 00:15:46.44\00:15:50.21 a heart attack, but the underlying cause was diabetes. 00:15:50.21\00:15:53.75 That is amazing. 00:15:54.15\00:15:55.25 Let's go down to the stomach. 00:15:55.25\00:15:57.35 I used to work at Huntsville Hospital the first two years in 00:15:57.99\00:16:00.92 digestion. 00:16:00.92\00:16:01.72 And so when there's a high degree of blood sugar, glucose 00:16:02.29\00:16:05.73 in the bloodstream, it damages the nerves of the stomach. 00:16:05.73\00:16:10.27 Now, there's a medical term called gastroparesis. 00:16:11.17\00:16:15.27 Gastro means stomach. 00:16:15.80\00:16:17.07 Paresis means paralyzed. 00:16:18.24\00:16:20.31 So gastroparesis, blood sugar, damages the stomach and 00:16:20.81\00:16:26.48 paralyzes the stomach. 00:16:26.48\00:16:27.02 So it no longer digests? 00:16:27.18\00:16:28.08 Exactly. 00:16:28.98\00:16:29.92 So now the stomach does not empty the food out as it should. 00:16:30.19\00:16:33.59 Now you have bloating, gas, and bad breath, and vomiting, and 00:16:33.59\00:16:39.46 sickness, and nausea. 00:16:39.66\00:16:40.86 And I've seen, and I worked in the Huntsville Hospital in the 00:16:41.10\00:16:44.57 area of digestion, I've seen people who have food undigested 00:16:44.57\00:16:48.87 in the stomach. 00:16:48.87\00:16:52.14 Look at that. 00:16:52.54\00:16:53.54 The kidneys. 00:16:54.71\00:16:55.48 Diabetes is the leading cause of kidney failure. 00:16:57.18\00:17:02.05 The leading cause of kidney failure, it damages the kidneys. 00:17:02.05\00:17:07.52 So therefore a lot of people are on dialysis due to diabetes. 00:17:08.12\00:17:13.06 Now, let's go down to the foot. 00:17:13.90\00:17:17.53 Exhibit A. 00:17:19.57\00:17:21.47 Oh my. 00:17:22.10\00:17:22.77 That's what I want them to say. 00:17:24.01\00:17:25.14 Oh my. 00:17:25.41\00:17:26.14 Diabetes damages the nerves. 00:17:27.88\00:17:31.11 Let me see. 00:17:31.11\00:17:31.48 Oh, there you go. 00:17:31.61\00:17:32.25 Yeah, they got it. 00:17:32.35\00:17:32.98 You can see that. 00:17:33.25\00:17:34.58 Half the foot, the toe is gone. 00:17:35.02\00:17:36.69 Diabetes damages the nerves of the foot and the fingers. 00:17:38.15\00:17:44.29 So therefore, there's a term for that. 00:17:44.99\00:17:46.59 It's called, there you go, diabetic neuropathy. 00:17:46.63\00:17:50.20 Nerve damage. 00:17:51.07\00:17:52.00 So the last seven years at the Huntsville Hospital, I worked in 00:17:52.83\00:17:55.40 the area of surgery. 00:17:55.40\00:17:56.34 And so one of the surgical procedures that I dread the most 00:17:57.34\00:18:01.28 in assisting is amputation. 00:18:01.28\00:18:03.78 So typically what happens is that typically the big toe goes 00:18:04.88\00:18:10.35 first. If you don't look at the big toe, that goes first. 00:18:10.69\00:18:12.92 And then the half of foot, and then at the ankle, above the 00:18:13.96\00:18:22.20 knee, and below the knee, and above the knee, is usually in 00:18:22.20\00:18:25.77 that order. Somebody's foot, somebody's leg is taken off 154,000 times in this 00:18:27.07\00:18:34.51 country every three and a half minutes. 00:18:34.51\00:18:37.71 Someone is having their foot and leg removed in the United 00:18:38.08\00:18:43.02 States. So therefore, this is an economic impact. 00:18:43.85\00:18:45.95 I remember one nurse doing a surgical procedure. 00:18:46.29\00:18:49.89 A guy came in, a grown man in the operating room. 00:18:50.59\00:18:53.66 It's too late for me to do a PowerPoint presentation. 00:18:54.30\00:18:56.40 We're about to take off his foot. 00:18:56.40\00:18:57.97 So the nurse was doing a, we call it a bated iron scrub for 00:18:58.20\00:19:01.57 five minutes to clean the place where we're going to do the 00:19:01.57\00:19:05.21 operation. So she was cleaning his foot. 00:19:05.57\00:19:07.28 And she said, as she was cleaning the foot before the 00:19:07.88\00:19:12.48 operation, the big toe just fell off. 00:19:12.48\00:19:13.68 It was just that bad. 00:19:14.38\00:19:16.38 And that has to do with what? 00:19:16.72\00:19:17.75 Circulation? 00:19:17.92\00:19:18.39 Poor circulation. 00:19:18.85\00:19:20.02 High glucose in the bloodstream. 00:19:21.56\00:19:25.56 So it damages the nerves in the fingers and also the foot. 00:19:25.56\00:19:30.00 So this is something that I dread the most in assisting. 00:19:30.27\00:19:34.10 And I hate to do this surgical procedure to assist in right 00:19:34.54\00:19:38.74 before lunch. 00:19:38.74\00:19:39.21 It ruins my lunch. 00:19:40.48\00:19:41.58 Because it's an eerie feeling to take off somebody's foot, leg. 00:19:42.24\00:19:47.42 And I held this foot and leg in my hand and I handed it off to a 00:19:47.68\00:19:51.29 circulating nurse. 00:19:51.29\00:19:52.02 I mean, it's an eerie feeling. 00:19:52.39\00:19:53.62 Then I hand the surgeon a stitch and he just goes and sews up the 00:19:53.62\00:19:58.03 wound. 00:19:58.03\00:20:01.03 right? 00:20:01.26\00:20:03.50 And most of it doesn't need to happen. 00:20:03.73\00:20:06.47 It doesn't need to happen. 00:20:06.84\00:20:07.97 One of my best friends in high school, just recently, he's a 00:20:08.87\00:20:12.47 diabetic. 00:20:12.47\00:20:17.85 this year he died. 00:20:17.85\00:20:19.25 My next door neighbor. 00:20:19.75\00:20:21.05 We had a class on diabetes at our church. 00:20:21.05\00:20:23.75 I told my next door neighbor, I knew he was a diabetic, and I 00:20:24.25\00:20:26.79 said, hey, this is free, open to the public. 00:20:26.96\00:20:29.69 He didn't attend. 00:20:30.16\00:20:30.89 He's died, all right? 00:20:31.59\00:20:32.99 And so therefore, now the thing about this is, once a person has 00:20:33.23\00:20:37.50 an amputation, be it a foot or a leg, because it has a dramatic 00:20:37.50\00:20:43.54 impact psychologically and depression that 18% of people 00:20:43.54\00:20:49.24 who have an amputation, 18% of people die within the first 90 00:20:49.24\00:20:55.12 days, because they can't handle a loss of a limb. 00:20:55.12\00:20:58.22 50% of people, 65% of people, die within the next five years. 00:20:59.55\00:21:05.13 65%? 00:21:05.36\00:21:06.53 Yes, within the next five years. 00:21:06.56\00:21:07.93 So once you lose a limb or leg or foot, whatever, the economic 00:21:08.06\00:21:12.27 impact, the emotional drama about that, some people have no 00:21:12.27\00:21:17.91 will to live, and 18% are dead in 90 days. 00:21:17.91\00:21:21.68 So that's why we're talking about this is a multi-system 00:21:22.14\00:21:27.62 disease, because blood sugar, glucose, is everywhere in the 00:21:28.45\00:21:34.06 blood, so since every organ and gland needs blood for nutrients, then every organ and 00:21:34.06\00:21:39.09 gland is going to be affected, because glucose is high in the 00:21:39.09\00:21:42.60 bloodstream. 00:21:42.60\00:21:47.87 health is concerned. 00:21:47.87\00:21:48.60 So that's why this is so passionate to me, because I've 00:21:49.27\00:21:54.74 seen this firsthand. 00:21:54.74\00:21:58.58 and there's tears in his eyes. 00:21:58.98\00:22:00.68 It's too late for a PowerPoint presentation, so that's why 00:22:01.28\00:22:04.15 we're on the other end of that. 00:22:04.15\00:22:05.35 So I'm going to leave this foot on here as Exhibit A, as a 00:22:05.52\00:22:11.19 reminder. If left unchecked, then it can damage the leg, the 00:22:11.19\00:22:17.90 foot, the fingers, etc. 00:22:17.90\00:22:19.07 And so if you see this foot here, get a close-up of this, if 00:22:19.47\00:22:24.24 it looks like this, we don't cut the foot here, we cut it above 00:22:24.24\00:22:30.48 at the ankle, just above the dead portion of the foot as 00:22:31.51\00:22:35.02 well. So any questions or comments on that, because that's 00:22:35.72\00:22:40.99 the impact of diabetes not only in the United States, but also 00:22:40.99\00:22:44.59 in the world, and we here in Huntsville, Alabama, where we 00:22:44.59\00:22:47.56 live, the state of Alabama, has one of the highest rates of diabetes in the country. 00:22:47.56\00:22:52.90 So we live in the heart of the diabetes belt. 00:22:54.77\00:23:00.21 What percentage of people have diabetes in America? 00:23:00.71\00:23:03.51 By 11%. 00:23:03.78\00:23:05.18 But now in Mobile, Alabama, a city in Alabama, their 00:23:05.18\00:23:10.45 percentage is 18%, way past the normal percentage throughout the 00:23:10.45\00:23:15.92 United States. So it's about 40 million people who have diabetes in the United States. 00:23:16.73\00:23:19.89 40 million. 00:23:20.23\00:23:20.93 Another 90 million have pre -diabetes, and most don't even 00:23:21.56\00:23:25.97 know it because there's very little symptoms. 00:23:25.97\00:23:27.64 So we're going to have, at the end of this presentation, get 00:23:27.94\00:23:31.94 your pencil and pen out, we're going to have a test, six 00:23:31.94\00:23:36.64 questions, because a lot of people, they may not get diagnosed or may not get tested, 00:23:36.64\00:23:40.42 but they're pre-diabetic or even are diabetic and don't even know 00:23:40.85\00:23:43.55 it. 00:23:43.55\00:23:46.42 We have some questions, and you'll be taking this test too. 00:23:46.59\00:23:49.76 And so therefore, because I want to make sure that people 00:23:50.33\00:23:52.96 understand that a lot of people are listening who are pre-diabetic or even 00:23:53.60\00:23:57.50 diabetic and don't even know it. 00:23:57.50\00:23:59.00 It can get worse. 00:23:59.37\00:24:00.67 It can get worse. 00:24:00.70\00:24:05.14 So I'm thinking we have lots of people watching then who are 00:24:05.44\00:24:08.21 diabetic and who struggle with diabetes. 00:24:08.21\00:24:10.11 So is my life expectancy shortened? 00:24:11.31\00:24:13.21 Do I have to die? 00:24:13.58\00:24:14.65 Am I going to go through these amputations? 00:24:14.85\00:24:16.52 Is there anything I can do since I already have diabetes to 00:24:16.69\00:24:21.36 reverse the effects of this? 00:24:21.36\00:24:22.39 Yes, yes. 00:24:22.39\00:24:23.26 So life expectancy is usually reduced about five to six years. 00:24:23.63\00:24:27.00 If you're diabetic, just take off five to six years of your 00:24:27.40\00:24:32.10 life on the average. 00:24:32.10\00:24:38.77 highlighted as much when it comes to this topic. 00:24:38.77\00:24:41.31 So a lot of times you hear a lot about nutrition, carbohydrates, 00:24:42.54\00:24:48.82 we're going to talk about that, exercise, that kind of thing. 00:24:49.22\00:24:52.49 But now there's one thing that has a dramatic impact on 00:24:52.85\00:24:57.73 diabetes that's not being talked about. 00:24:57.73\00:24:59.29 And we're going to take a little time on that, all right? 00:24:59.29\00:25:02.33 Greg put on his glasses, so he looks very astute at this time. 00:25:02.66\00:25:06.20 I'm trying to actually see my paper here taking a few notes. 00:25:06.40\00:25:09.57 I'm trying to help my cause in case I'm asked some questions. 00:25:09.94\00:25:12.74 So over the years, my wife and I, a guy gave us this, we used 00:25:14.38\00:25:19.65 to do a presentation called The Seven Spiritual Stress Busters, 00:25:19.65\00:25:26.02 all right? 00:25:26.02\00:25:35.53 stress, chronic stress, can impact diabetes. 00:25:35.53\00:25:40.27 That's not really being talked about as much. 00:25:40.74\00:25:43.47 You hear a lot about nutrition, carbohydrates, exercise, that 00:25:43.67\00:25:46.71 kind of thing, but stress can have a dramatic impact on 00:25:46.71\00:25:51.21 increasing the risk of diabetes. 00:25:51.21\00:25:52.45 There was an article just done just a few years ago. 00:25:52.91\00:25:57.05 It's a medical journal called Current Diabetes Review, all 00:25:57.79\00:26:01.86 right? Just came out a few years ago. 00:26:01.86\00:26:03.63 And the topic of this article is entitled Chronic Stress and 00:26:04.13\00:26:09.93 Diabetes, Interwoven Pathologies. 00:26:09.93\00:26:13.07 In other words, how stress and diabetes are interwoven together 00:26:13.47\00:26:19.24 and impact diabetes. 00:26:19.24\00:26:21.74 When a person is in chronic stress mode, worry a lot. 00:26:21.74\00:26:28.38 Number one, it reduces the insulin that the body produce. 00:26:29.02\00:26:33.09 That's number one. 00:26:33.32\00:26:39.06 the term, insulin resistance, all right? 00:26:39.06\00:26:42.20 And number three, it's hard to get a good balance of your 00:26:42.50\00:26:46.43 glucose when a person is really under stress or worry a lot. 00:26:46.43\00:26:50.44 So with that in mind, we go through what we call the seven 00:26:50.44\00:26:54.58 spiritual stress processes. 00:26:54.58\00:26:58.65 about this as well. 00:26:58.65\00:26:59.58 So one of the things that we put on our screen during this 00:27:00.22\00:27:04.12 presentation, let's put this on the screen, first of all, and 00:27:04.12\00:27:08.79 we're going to walk this through, all right? 00:27:08.79\00:27:09.76 So let's go to the screen. 00:27:09.79\00:27:10.63 This is our first graphic, all right? 00:27:10.66\00:27:12.19 So I'll read it to you. 00:27:12.19\00:27:13.33 All right, here it is. 00:27:13.40\00:27:14.46 This is my character and personality, book two, page 473. 00:27:14.50\00:27:18.43 Now, listen to these words, quote, 00:27:18.57\00:27:20.37 All right? 00:27:40.56\00:27:41.42 Now, so we need that on the screen. 00:27:41.69\00:27:43.59 Every trial before he permits it to come to the believer, all 00:27:50.13\00:27:54.94 right? Amen. 00:33:31.84\00:33:32.61 So, here's the thing. 00:33:33.51\00:33:34.54 So therefore, that's a great illustration. 00:33:35.04\00:33:36.58 Whatever happens, whatever comes down the pipe, we can never say, 00:33:36.95\00:33:41.42 Oh Lord, Lord, Lord, this is too much. 00:33:41.42\00:33:43.32 I can't handle it. 00:33:43.62\00:33:44.45 No, that's a lie. 00:33:44.45\00:33:46.52 1 Corinthians 10.13, the Bible says that He is faithful not to 00:33:46.99\00:33:53.23 tempt us more than we are able to bear. 00:33:53.23\00:33:55.20 But will with the temptation make a way of escape? 00:33:55.40\00:33:58.57 That's a promise. 00:33:59.20\00:34:00.07 And that's one of the promises that we may 00:34:01.00\00:34:01.87 There's a powerful statement in Thoughts for the Mount of 00:34:05.57\00:34:09.81 Blessings page 101. 00:34:09.81\00:34:11.35 Because there are people out there who are stressed out and 00:34:12.28\00:34:16.28 they're worried. 00:34:16.28\00:34:19.79 page 101. 00:34:19.79\00:34:21.02 When we... 00:34:22.02\00:34:22.76 Now, listen to these words. 00:34:22.76\00:34:23.83 This is just so... 00:34:23.93\00:34:25.16 When we really believe that God loves us and He loves us and He 00:34:25.16\00:34:31.63 loves us and wants to best for us, then we will cease to worry 00:34:31.63\00:34:37.54 about the future. 00:34:37.54\00:34:38.61 When we really believe that God loves us, we will cease to worry 00:34:39.71\00:34:44.55 about the future. 00:34:44.55\00:34:45.41 So, if you read Matthew chapter 24, all these things coming up, 00:34:45.91\00:34:50.12 wars and rumors of wars and earthquakes and pestilence, there's going to be 00:34:50.12\00:34:53.12 a whole lot of things that we can stress out about until the 00:34:53.12\00:34:56.06 Second Coming. 00:34:56.06\00:35:01.83 stress spiritually. 00:35:01.83\00:35:03.43 So, this right here is paramount. 00:35:03.87\00:35:06.57 This lays the foundation. 00:35:06.77\00:35:07.90 That's the study I just quoted. 00:35:08.24\00:35:09.27 That's a 10-page study about stress and diabetes. 00:35:09.70\00:35:14.24 We can have a plant-based diet and exercise, but we're stressed 00:35:14.74\00:35:18.71 out, worried, and therefore, it's going to impact our 00:35:19.18\00:35:23.02 diabetes tremendously. 00:35:23.02\00:35:24.29 So, this is one of the first things in defeating diabetes 00:35:24.42\00:35:28.92 helps to manage our stress and take it to the Lord in prayer. 00:35:28.92\00:35:32.96 Oh, what peace we often forfeit. 00:35:33.43\00:35:36.40 Oh, what needless pain we bear because we do not take 00:35:37.03\00:35:41.57 everything to the Lord in prayer. 00:35:41.57\00:35:42.47 That's right. 00:35:42.57\00:35:43.07 It's trusting Jesus. 00:35:43.07\00:35:44.07 Yes. 00:35:44.57\00:35:49.08 if we just sit, we argue, not argue, we fuss with God about 00:35:49.24\00:35:53.11 the trials and the tests. 00:35:53.11\00:35:54.85 God, why do I have to go through this? 00:35:55.08\00:35:56.58 I don't understand what's going on. 00:35:56.65\00:35:58.72 But if we can get up and count the blessings each day of what 00:35:58.72\00:36:02.62 God has done for us and look back at how he has brought us 00:36:02.62\00:36:07.30 through tremendous times, the things that we never thought 00:36:07.30\00:36:09.36 we'd get through. When we think about that, that begins to build 00:36:09.70\00:36:12.63 up the foundation. That's right. 00:36:12.67\00:36:14.70 So, we need the trials because the trials make us strong as 00:36:14.87\00:36:18.91 we're going through the next testing. 00:36:18.91\00:36:19.94 Eventually, you get to the point where you're like, whatever. 00:36:20.11\00:36:23.08 Go ahead on and bring it. 00:36:23.58\00:36:24.91 I'm good, I'm good because you got the scriptures, you got the 00:36:24.91\00:36:28.42 music, you got the experiences, all that is going on. 00:36:28.68\00:36:30.92 Okay, so that's the first part. 00:36:31.19\00:36:32.95 We want to get that out of the way, all right? 00:36:32.95\00:36:34.66 Not get it out of the way, but make that first and paramount. 00:36:34.76\00:36:37.13 Foundational. 00:36:37.39\00:36:42.33 finish up our presentation for this evening, the second part of 00:36:42.33\00:36:47.67 it, is now we need to talk about nutrition. 00:36:47.67\00:36:49.54 When you talk about diabetes and nutrition, there's one word that 00:36:50.94\00:36:55.01 comes up. 00:36:55.01\00:36:56.48 That word is carbohydrates. 00:36:56.91\00:36:58.41 And so, I remember my teacher, a grade school teacher back in the 00:37:00.08\00:37:02.98 fourth grade, she told us, because we kept asking our 00:37:02.98\00:37:05.85 teacher, teacher, what does this word mean? 00:37:05.85\00:37:07.46 What does this word mean? 00:37:07.92\00:37:09.26 So, our teacher told us in the fourth grade, she says, class, 00:37:09.29\00:37:12.89 if you don't know what a word means, take the word apart, try 00:37:12.89\00:37:18.43 to define its components and then put the definition 00:37:18.43\00:37:20.77 together. I've been using that for over 16 years. 00:37:21.40\00:37:22.80 That's a great teacher there, yeah. 00:37:22.80\00:37:23.97 So, carbohydrates. 00:37:23.97\00:37:24.01 Let's first understand and define what does the word mean. 00:37:25.81\00:37:31.01 Carbo is short for carbon, a basic element used for 00:37:32.35\00:37:39.02 combustion, carbon. 00:37:39.79\00:37:40.49 So, we need energy for combustion, work, play, et 00:37:41.06\00:37:44.69 cetera. The other part of the word is hydrate. 00:37:46.13\00:37:49.30 If a person is dehydrated, that means they have a lack of water, 00:37:50.30\00:37:55.60 fire hydrate. 00:37:56.27\00:37:56.84 The body is 65% water, hydrate. 00:37:57.61\00:38:01.68 We need energy, carbon. 00:38:02.38\00:38:04.75 Therefore, the body needs carbohydrate. 00:38:05.48\00:38:10.29 You follow me? 00:38:11.62\00:38:12.15 A lot of people say, oh, I'm on a low-carb diet. 00:38:12.62\00:38:14.66 Do you really know what you're saying? 00:38:15.36\00:38:16.99 Carbohydrate. 00:38:18.39\00:38:25.63 of carbohydrates, all right? 00:38:25.63\00:38:28.04 So, I have my wife, because this is her part of the presentation. 00:38:28.24\00:38:31.67 I'll be interjecting some things as well. 00:38:32.11\00:38:35.18 So, let's look at the very first type of carbohydrate, which is 00:38:35.41\00:38:46.02 what, honey? 00:38:46.02\00:38:51.09 carbohydrate and tell me what would be, if I say to you, the 00:38:51.09\00:38:55.80 very first one is simple carbohydrate. 00:38:55.80\00:38:58.30 Simple. 00:38:58.30\00:38:58.60 That's number one. 00:38:59.07\00:39:04.51 foods do you think would be in that group? 00:39:04.51\00:39:06.27 Simple carbohydrate. 00:39:07.91\00:39:08.98 Something that's not maybe man -made, so something like that. 00:39:09.94\00:39:14.12 Non-processed? 00:39:14.12\00:39:15.05 Yeah, non-processed is what I mean, yeah. 00:39:15.05\00:39:16.58 Okay. 00:39:16.95\00:39:17.22 All right. 00:39:17.65\00:39:18.65 So, simple carbohydrate, Genesis 1, 29, and when we look at that, 00:39:19.02\00:39:25.26 it's the fruits and non-starchy vegetables. 00:39:25.26\00:39:28.36 Everybody sees that word simple and they think that's going to 00:39:29.13\00:39:32.50 be something other than that. 00:39:32.50\00:39:33.70 Is it fruit? 00:39:33.90\00:39:34.70 Fruit and non-starchy. 00:39:35.14\00:39:36.67 It is considered a simple carbohydrate. 00:39:36.87\00:39:38.61 Simple carbohydrate. 00:39:38.61\00:39:38.64 That's the umbrella. 00:39:39.14\00:39:40.08 Fruit, the first food group mentioned in the Bible, is 00:39:40.74\00:39:43.81 fruit. It is. 00:39:43.81\00:39:52.29 asparagus, non-starchy, yeah. 00:39:52.29\00:39:53.69 That just means that those foods don't create any kind of a 00:39:53.69\00:39:57.19 thickness when you cook them. 00:39:57.19\00:39:58.56 Like potatoes would be considered a starch. 00:39:58.59\00:40:00.76 Or rice. 00:40:01.26\00:40:01.60 That's right. 00:40:01.70\00:40:02.23 That's starch. 00:40:02.90\00:40:03.57 So that's simple. 00:40:03.90\00:40:04.67 So that's simple, okay. 00:40:04.67\00:40:05.67 Now, what's the next type of carbohydrate, energy, hydrate, 00:40:05.90\00:40:13.71 water, because bodies made above water and we need energy. 00:40:13.74\00:40:17.31 65%. 00:40:17.31\00:40:18.11 Okay, yeah. 00:40:18.11\00:40:18.65 Complexed carbohydrates. 00:40:19.75\00:40:20.78 Is that like your potatoes and your rice and your bread? 00:40:20.95\00:40:23.42 Pasta? 00:40:23.69\00:40:24.29 No? 00:40:24.89\00:40:24.95 Okay, okay. 00:40:25.29\00:40:26.22 So we got the complex. 00:40:26.52\00:40:26.76 They're chiming in, honey. 00:40:27.16\00:40:28.42 They're called complex because any food that you eat that takes 00:40:28.42\00:40:28.46 a longer time to digest or break down is called complex. 00:40:32.99\00:40:36.60 If you were to take that grain, a whole wheat grain, and stick 00:40:36.90\00:40:40.87 it under a microscope and look down inside of it, you would see 00:40:40.87\00:40:43.97 a lot of just like lines and movements going on because it 00:40:43.97\00:40:48.48 takes a while for the body to break down a carbohydrate that 00:40:48.48\00:40:52.78 is complexed. Okay. 00:40:52.91\00:40:56.32 that food to be digested. 00:40:56.32\00:40:57.55 Okay. 00:40:57.55\00:40:57.59 In that group. 00:40:58.12\00:40:58.99 In this group. 00:40:59.49\00:41:04.13 be? 00:41:04.13\00:41:04.36 That's not your bread and your pastas and your potatoes and 00:41:05.49\00:41:08.33 your rice. 00:41:08.33\00:41:10.87 different types. 00:41:10.87\00:41:11.73 Now we meet people who say things like I don't do no carbs. 00:41:12.03\00:41:14.97 I don't do no bread. 00:41:15.07\00:41:16.04 I don't do potatoes. 00:41:16.04\00:41:17.84 I don't do any of that. 00:41:18.47\00:41:22.74 Oh, okay. 00:41:22.98\00:41:23.31 Like wheat. 00:41:23.65\00:41:24.05 Whole grain. 00:41:24.98\00:41:25.35 Whole grain. 00:41:25.35\00:41:25.75 And legumes. 00:41:25.85\00:41:26.78 Yeah, and legumes. 00:41:26.95\00:41:27.55 Yeah, and legumes, please. 00:41:27.55\00:41:29.35 So that's the complex. 00:41:29.78\00:41:31.69 So now, so we're dealing with first the good. 00:41:31.92\00:41:35.22 Simple. 00:41:35.82\00:41:36.56 Now we're going to get to the bad. 00:41:36.66\00:41:37.66 Then we're going to get to the ugly. 00:41:38.49\00:41:39.63 No, I'm serious. 00:41:40.23\00:41:41.30 So again, just to recap, I'm going to make, this is critical. 00:41:41.56\00:41:44.43 A lot of people just don't understand this. 00:41:44.53\00:41:46.13 So the good is first, simple. 00:41:46.94\00:41:50.34 Your fruits and non-starchy vegetables. 00:41:50.87\00:41:51.77 Fruit and non-starchy vegetables. 00:41:51.77\00:41:53.54 And complex. 00:41:53.71\00:41:58.81 That's the good. 00:41:59.31\00:42:00.62 Now the next set is the bad, which is what, honey? 00:42:01.02\00:42:06.02 The refined carbohydrates. 00:42:06.12\00:42:08.02 Refined carbohydrates. 00:42:08.46\00:42:10.09 Now we're getting into When those foods are now processed. 00:42:10.46\00:42:13.09 Now we're getting into white bread, white flour. 00:42:13.09\00:42:17.27 White pastas, or enriched pastas. 00:42:18.23\00:42:19.73 Enriched pastas. 00:42:20.00\00:42:20.90 These are called the refined group. 00:42:21.00\00:42:23.24 Because now we're talking about, actually as man, we've gone in 00:42:23.61\00:42:27.18 and changed it up. 00:42:27.18\00:42:27.81 I don't want no whole wheat. 00:42:27.84\00:42:28.84 I want white. 00:42:29.14\00:42:30.11 So when you switch these things out, now you're talking about 00:42:30.38\00:42:33.88 taking away the major nutrients that these foods have. 00:42:33.88\00:42:37.29 There's a difference in a whole wheat bread than a white bread. 00:42:37.65\00:42:41.86 Interesting though, because as far as you said, enriched. 00:42:41.89\00:42:44.03 That sounds positive. 00:42:44.23\00:42:45.03 It sounds good. 00:42:45.43\00:42:45.76 Also it's enriched. 00:42:45.96\00:42:46.66 It's infused with something better. 00:42:46.83\00:42:48.16 But it's actually not. 00:42:48.16\00:42:49.43 If I gave you 25 dollars and take away 20, do you feel 00:42:50.47\00:42:55.77 enriched? No, I don't. 00:42:55.84\00:42:56.57 So one of the things about doing this process, that one of the 00:42:57.57\00:43:01.54 things that creates the pancreas to produce insulin, is chromium. 00:43:01.54\00:43:05.98 It's a micronutrient chromium. 00:43:06.58\00:43:08.62 When you enrich whole wheat, you remove the chromium. 00:43:09.18\00:43:13.52 Therefore, the pancreas cannot produce insulin as it should. 00:43:13.89\00:43:17.13 That's why this is the bad. 00:43:17.89\00:43:19.89 So the refine. 00:43:20.30\00:43:21.90 We got the good, simple, fruit, non -starchy vegetables, and the 00:43:22.13\00:43:29.10 complex, the goose and whole grains. 00:43:29.10\00:43:31.21 Now you have the bad, refined carbohydrates, and now the last 00:43:31.61\00:43:37.95 group, you have the ugly, which is what, honey? 00:43:37.95\00:43:41.35 Ultra-refined carbohydrates. 00:43:41.35\00:43:44.55 Ultra-refined. 00:43:44.55\00:43:45.32 Ultra. 00:43:45.45\00:43:45.95 What would that be? 00:43:45.95\00:43:46.59 Okay, go ahead, honey. 00:43:46.89\00:43:48.36 You ready? 00:43:48.69\00:43:49.02 You ready? 00:43:49.02\00:43:49.29 Cookies, cake. 00:43:51.26\00:43:52.26 I like cookies. 00:43:52.53\00:43:53.03 Ice cream. 00:43:53.03\00:43:53.80 Pies. 00:43:53.83\00:43:57.00 Let me, okay. 00:43:57.00\00:43:57.03 Honey? 00:43:58.07\00:43:58.57 Okay, his glasses came off. 00:43:58.93\00:44:01.10 They did. 00:44:01.14\00:44:06.21 got a little, they're upset right now. 00:44:06.21\00:44:08.14 They're like, they're like, No, no, no. 00:44:08.24\00:44:10.81 I'm not saying you should never eat these foods on occasion, but 00:44:10.81\00:44:15.82 these foods have a high degree of, they classify ultra-refined 00:44:15.82\00:44:20.32 by the NOVA classification. 00:44:20.32\00:44:21.09 They have a high degree of sodium, salt, sugar, and fried 00:44:22.22\00:44:29.43 foods with additives and preservatives. 00:44:29.43\00:44:31.50 This constitutes ultra-refined. 00:44:31.80\00:44:34.94 In other words, simple term will be called junk food. 00:44:35.37\00:44:40.44 Now. 00:44:41.44\00:44:41.94 And some people live on that. 00:44:42.31\00:44:43.61 Absolutely. 00:44:43.85\00:44:49.85 refined. 00:44:49.85\00:44:50.15 Absolutely. 00:44:50.25\00:44:50.89 This is the worst of the carbohydrates. 00:44:51.09\00:44:53.82 The ultra-refined, it has a tremendous impact on diabetes 00:44:54.29\00:44:59.69 than any other group. 00:44:59.69\00:45:01.80 Even worse than eating meat. 00:45:02.20\00:45:04.90 Ultra-refined. 00:45:06.37\00:45:08.00 Because it turns glucose, blood sugar quickly and goes into our 00:45:08.00\00:45:13.41 fat cells. 00:45:13.41\00:45:14.11 So therefore, you have the ultra -refined. 00:45:15.28\00:45:16.98 And then also, when people say to us, I don't do carbs at all, 00:45:17.05\00:45:20.15 we say, well, if you go back to the Bible, first chapter in the 00:45:20.15\00:45:24.55 Bible, God speaks about the diet. 00:45:25.02\00:45:26.62 He does. 00:45:26.72\00:45:31.29 Well, when you think about that, you're like, wait a minute, hold 00:45:31.53\00:45:33.33 up. 00:45:33.33\00:45:38.10 Guys, listen up. 00:45:39.37\00:45:40.44 Diet is carbohydrates. 00:45:40.67\00:45:42.74 Genesis 1.29 and Genesis 3.18. 00:45:43.67\00:45:45.67 Now we need to move on. 00:45:46.14\00:45:47.04 So therefore, now having said that, now we're going to say the 00:45:47.48\00:45:51.55 same thing. 00:45:51.55\00:45:55.52 So here we go. 00:45:56.12\00:45:57.49 So now you have, I'll make sure the camera picked this. 00:45:59.12\00:46:02.16 I'm going to keep this foot on this table. 00:46:02.32\00:46:04.03 So make sure the camera picked that up right there. 00:46:04.49\00:46:07.76 Let me just move this foot like this. 00:46:08.70\00:46:10.60 Yeah, there we go. 00:46:11.07\00:46:11.90 Okay, yeah. 00:46:12.27\00:46:12.60 Like the guy. 00:46:12.70\00:46:13.17 We have the bloodstream. 00:46:13.27\00:46:14.10 So here we have the bloodstream. 00:46:14.37\00:46:16.87 Inside the bloodstream, the bloodstream is carrying glucose, 00:46:18.67\00:46:23.31 blood sugar. 00:46:24.48\00:46:25.31 All right? 00:46:25.91\00:46:26.51 Where it's supposed to be. 00:46:26.72\00:46:27.72 So the person just finished eating complex, simple 00:46:28.12\00:46:33.05 carbohydrates. So now this glucose is in the bloodstream. 00:46:33.39\00:46:36.06 This glucose that's in the bloodstream doesn't need to stay 00:46:37.26\00:46:41.66 in the bloodstream. 00:46:41.66\00:46:42.76 Otherwise, it can damage what we just talked about from head to 00:46:43.00\00:46:45.90 toe. So this glucose need to go into our cells. 00:46:46.57\00:46:51.71 Because the glucose goes into our cells. 00:46:54.88\00:46:57.78 Every cell needs glucose to survive. 00:46:58.35\00:47:03.72 It's energy, right? 00:47:03.72\00:47:04.75 It's energy. 00:47:05.02\00:47:05.59 The brain's main food is glucose. 00:47:06.69\00:47:10.86 The brain only weighs 2% of the body. 00:47:11.83\00:47:15.40 Yet, it demands 20% of the glucose. 00:47:16.10\00:47:18.93 The muscles need glucose to function, whatever. 00:47:20.34\00:47:23.77 So therefore, but wait a minute, we got a problem because this 00:47:24.21\00:47:31.48 door is locked. 00:47:31.48\00:47:39.72 key. 00:47:39.72\00:47:40.09 Guess what? 00:47:41.02\00:47:41.86 In God's infinite wisdom, God also manufactured the key. 00:47:42.62\00:47:49.70 Insulin. 00:47:50.20\00:47:50.67 Insulin is the key. 00:47:50.73\00:47:51.40 Insulin is the key. 00:47:51.77\00:47:54.07 It's with this bloodstream. 00:47:54.37\00:47:56.30 So now the insulin goes in, unlocks the door to the cell, 00:47:56.50\00:48:04.85 and the door opens up, and now glucose can go inside the cell. 00:48:04.85\00:48:11.59 It needs to stay inside the cell. 00:48:13.49\00:48:15.12 Now it's off the table, so the camera didn't pick that up. 00:48:15.66\00:48:18.09 The thing about this is, this is so critical. 00:48:18.53\00:48:21.66 Because if not, since the brain's main source of fuel is 00:48:22.43\00:48:29.00 glucose, if there's not enough glucose in the brain, then you 00:48:29.00\00:48:32.51 can have depression, confusion, unbalance, even signs of Alzheimer's disease. 00:48:32.51\00:48:40.05 That's why Alzheimer's disease is sometimes known as type 3 00:48:40.82\00:48:46.02 diabetes. I hadn't heard that. 00:48:47.16\00:48:48.16 Yes, that's why the key is very critical for that to take place. 00:48:48.42\00:48:54.10 So you mentioned before we on air, Greg, about what about type 00:48:54.46\00:48:59.07 1? People who are type 1 diabetics, they don't have a 00:48:59.93\00:49:04.41 key. They're born that way. 00:49:05.11\00:49:06.34 Well, it could be, or in childhood, that's why it used to 00:49:06.71\00:49:12.11 be called juvenile diabetes. 00:49:12.11\00:49:13.15 Sometimes milk, protein can damage the beta cells, but 00:49:13.58\00:49:17.52 sometimes when those are type 1, which is less than 10%, they 00:49:17.52\00:49:21.42 don't have a key. So unlock the door. 00:49:21.92\00:49:24.09 So they have to go to a locksmith to get a key made for 00:49:24.09\00:49:28.40 them to open up the cell door. 00:49:28.40\00:49:29.60 We talk about that as well in the conference, but I know time 00:49:29.80\00:49:31.97 is just about gone. 00:49:31.97\00:49:34.04 Exactly, that's the key. 00:49:34.27\00:49:35.40 So therefore, the main thing is that simple fruit non-starchy 00:49:38.54\00:49:44.61 vegetables, complex whole grain and legumes, and then the key 00:49:44.61\00:49:51.82 goes in, open up the door, and the glucose goes in, and then 00:49:52.02\00:49:56.06 now the glucose goes down to its normal level, therefore we don't 00:49:56.06\00:50:00.43 have no problems at all. 00:50:00.43\00:50:04.70 carbohydrates and everything, where it just goes right along. 00:50:04.80\00:50:06.77 Right, that's the good, but not with the bad and the ugly. 00:50:06.77\00:50:09.40 Right, so we're going to move more to God's original 00:50:09.67\00:50:12.61 plant-based diet. So if I have diabetes, say, type 2, can it be 00:50:13.21\00:50:18.08 reversed? Yes. 00:50:18.18\00:50:21.78 Can that be reversed? 00:50:21.78\00:50:22.85 Absolutely, absolutely. 00:50:23.28\00:50:24.12 Lifestyle changes. 00:50:24.32\00:50:25.12 Yeah, yeah. 00:50:25.22\00:50:31.83 pancreas, when you're not even producing a key with type 1, 00:50:31.83\00:50:35.63 there's some things now, that's where herbal medicine comes into 00:50:36.03\00:50:39.57 play and actually goes in and manufactures new keys. 00:50:39.57\00:50:46.17 That's incredible. 00:50:46.64\00:50:47.91 Botanical medicine. 00:50:48.51\00:50:49.41 That's amazing. 00:50:49.41\00:50:54.35 keys made. 00:50:54.35\00:50:54.95 Look at God. 00:50:55.05\00:50:55.65 Yes, yes. 00:50:56.12\00:50:56.89 All right, anyway, time is just about gone. 00:50:57.05\00:50:58.75 So what we're going to do next is we're going to go through, 00:50:58.89\00:51:02.36 now this is a six-question test. 00:51:02.36\00:51:04.56 Oh, we have in our quiz. 00:51:04.83\00:51:05.73 We have a quiz, yeah. 00:51:05.73\00:51:05.76 I'm looking at my clock here. 00:51:06.86\00:51:08.13 Six questions, whether or not a person may be a diabetic or may 00:51:08.76\00:51:13.10 be pre -diabetic, all right? 00:51:13.10\00:51:14.34 Six questions. 00:51:14.47\00:51:18.61 Jill and I don't really want to be on the spot just by 00:51:18.61\00:51:20.98 ourselves.
