to be part of this wonderful

evangelistic effort.

And there were over 2,000
preaching sites across the

country. We both had preaching
sites of our own near the town

of Poppendetta in the
northern Milne Bay mission area.

Nine others flew with us into
Poppendetta, but five of them

went to other places by
speedboat, by four-wheel drive

to get to their sites where they
were looked after for 16 days

and nights. When we arrived in
Port Moresby, we were
immediately recognised as

being part of 3ABN.

Many people were happy to have
3ABN represented in Papua New

Guinea. It's a very popular
channel and we even found it on

one night. 3ABN has brought many
people into the church in Papua

be a blessing in proclaiming the

truth of the Bible

wonderful truth of God.

baptised throughout PNG as a

It was good to see so many
Adventists from around the world

taking part.

But the local people did an
amazing job of both preparing

souls and preaching
at many of the sites.

Well, I want to
tell you about my site.

My site was at a palm oil
refinery town called Siroga.

It was exciting to see people
come every night despite the

rain and there was some
howling winds too and storms.
00:48:44.19\00:48:46.22
There were over 300
people baptised from my site.
00:48:46.69\00:48:50.43
I had the privilege of baptising
some of them personally and you
00:48:50.73\00:48:54.83
know what?
00:48:54.83\00:49:01.24
their lives to follow Jesus.
00:49:01.24\00:49:03.51
And one of the exciting things
that I observed was that there

are so many young people that
were wanting to know the truth.

That's right.

And at my site, we were about
45 minutes drive further on from
00:49:13.15\00:49:18.42
John's site and we would take
him to his site and then go on
00:49:18.42\00:49:23.99
to mine. So it was a long drive
on quite a bumpy road and it was
00:49:24.06\00:49:29.93
on the road to Kokoda.

The place was called Siho.

We saw that the two pastors
in our sites, John had Pastor

Chris, I had Pastor Donald.

They would visit
people by walking everywhere.

And so we decided to
buy them a bicycle each.

These had to be mountain bikes
because they had to be able to

go on rough pathways and roads.

But when we gave them their
bikes, they were overwhelmed.

I'll tell the story
of my Pastor Donald.

When we presented him with
his bicycle, he told me that the

amazing story that he had been
praying to God for three months.

Please, God, give me a bicycle.

Somehow give me a bicycle.

And we presented him with
one and he was overwhelmed.

It was just the most amazing
thing for him that God had

answered his prayer in that way.

Let me share with you the story
of how we presented the bikes.

We bought them a bike.
00:50:39.00\00:50:40.67
We bought them a fluro
vest and a chain with a padlock.

And so when we arrived at the
church, we would sneak the bike
00:50:45.94\00:50:50.48
in the back without
the pastors seeing him.
00:50:50.48\00:50:52.25
And then we had the church there
gathered together to see what we
00:50:52.51\00:50:56.58
were going to do.
00:50:56.58\00:51:01.09
And they looked at that and
thought, well, what's that for?
00:51:01.19\00:51:03.69
Well, we said, when you're out
visiting your church members and
00:51:03.86\00:51:07.20
they see you coming,
they'll know it's you.
00:51:07.20\00:51:10.20
So they'll behave very properly.
00:51:10.23\00:51:12.23
And the other thing was
then we gave him the chain.

And he said, you know,
what do I need a chain for?

So, well, when the church
members are misbehaving or

there's a problem in the church,
you can lock them to the to the
00:51:21.88\00:51:25.88
pew so they won't
be able to get away.
00:51:25.88\00:51:26.92
So there was a smiling
response that was very happy.

And they wondered,
what are these people doing?

We don't understand.

Then we bought the bike out and
the bike was the explanation for

the vest because they need
it when they ride on at night on
00:51:40.33\00:51:43.83
the roads. And the chain was to
be able to lock it when they're
00:51:44.17\00:51:47.37
visiting someone so
someone wouldn't steal it.

And your pastor, Chris, he had
wanted to take a mountain bike
00:51:49.67\00:51:54.81
with him to his site there
at Double Cross Church, but he
00:51:54.81\00:51:59.18
couldn't afford to take it.
00:51:59.18\00:52:00.32
And the mission couldn't afford
it because the bike wasn't worth
00:52:00.62\00:52:04.12
the money.
00:52:04.12\00:52:04.65
And so he had to leave his bike
behind where he used to live.

And so now he's
got another bike.

And he was very excited.

It was such a joy to be able
to just simply provide a bike.

We drive around in
cars, but they have to walk.

And the bike was a
real blessing for them.

In fact, I remember when we went
to Rosemary site, the pastor had

come at ear to bike from one
of the village people from his

church. And I can remember when
he saw that the pastor had his

new bike. He was riding the
bike around through the village,

really excited because
he's got his bike back at last.

It was a really good experience.

Some of the church members at my
site were actually amazed to see

people come forward at the altar
calls whom they'd never believed

would come.

overwhelmed.

And so was his children.

So, the power of the Holy Spirit
was working there and people

were making decisions for Jesus.

his home and the
meetings every single day.

And he carried a machete for
protection for when he walked

home at night.

That was dedication.

And he wanted to be baptized
and to become a Seventh-day

Adventist because he
knew he was hearing the truth.

I spoke to many ex-Seventh-day
Adventists who said after

hearing what I was preaching
from the Bible that they wanted

to be rebaptized and
come back to the true church.

It was exciting.

It was indeed a privilege

much, they were taking the pews

more people could come in and it

still wasn't enough room.

So there's great
need for churches.

There's great needs for Bibles.

There's such a need.

And most of all, they
are actually running programs

teaching elders to look after
these new groups of people.

And that's exciting because they
have a plan and it's working.

membership in just a few days.
