And the reason I know that some not a 00:01:52.27\00:01:55.78 prophet North side of a profit, but we already prayed and asked 00:01:55.78\00:01:59.58 for the annoying the Holy Spirit to be here tonight. 00:01:59.58\00:02:02.42 So we think something great and mighty marvelous is going to 00:02:02.42\00:02:05.72 happen. So before we introduce to our movement 00:02:20.84\00:02:26.74 called brothers and sisters, sometimes we say, guess what 00:02:26.74\00:02:29.71 her family are for. 00:02:29.71\00:02:31.71 >> You've got scripture for I do. I do. I'd like to read from 00:02:31.71\00:02:34.88 Matthew. 25 00:02:34.88\00:02:36.69 versus 31 to 40. 00:02:36.69\00:02:40.66 When the son of man comes in his glory and all the Holy 00:02:40.66\00:02:43.93 Angels with him, then he will sit on the throne of his glory. 00:02:43.93\00:02:48.10 All the nations will be gathered before him and he will 00:02:48.10\00:02:50.60 separate them one from another as a shepherd divides his sheep 00:02:50.60\00:02:54.44 from the goats and it will set the sheep on his right hand. 00:02:54.44\00:02:57.74 But the goats on the left, then the king will say to those on 00:02:57.74\00:03:01.11 his right hand com, you blessed of my father inherit the 00:03:01.11\00:03:05.08 kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world for 00:03:05.08\00:03:08.68 I was hungry and you gave me food. I was thirsty and you 00:03:08.68\00:03:12.95 gave me drink. I was a stranger and you took me in. I was naked 00:03:12.95\00:03:18.29 and you clothed me. I was sick and you visited me. I was in 00:03:18.29\00:03:22.30 prison and you came to me then the righteous will answer him 00:03:22.30\00:03:26.20 saying, Lord, when did we see you hungry and feed you or 00:03:26.20\00:03:29.80 thirst and give you drink? When did we see you a stranger 00:03:29.80\00:03:34.74 and take you in or naked and clothe you? When did we see you 00:03:34.74\00:03:39.45 sick or in prison and come to you and the king will answer 00:03:39.45\00:03:44.42 and say to them, I assure the I say to you and as much as you 00:03:44.42\00:03:49.82 did it to one of the least of these my brethren, you did it 00:03:49.82\00:03:54.56 to me, a man. And that just goes along with what we're 00:03:54.56\00:03:58.13 doing tonight. This ministry that we're featuring must talk 00:03:58.13\00:04:01.34 about. Yes, so we want to introduce you to our family, 00:04:01.34\00:04:05.24 our guest here, Eric Amadeo, who is the founder of Salt, 00:04:05.24\00:04:11.71 this wonderful ministry, its Salt outreach. He's the 00:04:11.71\00:04:14.55 president and founder and his lovely wife Mel. And she is a 00:04:14.55\00:04:19.22 Salt outreach board member that was so happy to have you here. 00:04:19.22\00:04:23.53 Welcome. Thank you. 00:04:23.53\00:04:24.86 >> Thank you for having us. Are really excited to be here. 00:04:24.86\00:04:26.90 Yeah. And you have to tell us what soft a stands for. I asked 00:04:26.90\00:04:31.80 Salt is an acronym for service and love together. So. 00:04:31.80\00:04:36.17 >> You know, we believe that you can't really 00:04:36.17\00:04:39.37 >> serve like 2. And there's people and what inspired this 00:04:39.37\00:04:42.74 is sometimes we see people serving. But there's no love. 00:04:42.74\00:04:46.31 They're right. You know, someone might share food with 00:04:46.31\00:04:48.42 the unsheltered might be hiding behind the table to 00:04:48.42\00:04:51.15 distributing food at not be interacting with the gas rhyme. 00:04:51.15\00:04:54.49 And then you have the other side where people might say I 00:04:54.49\00:04:57.29 love my neighbor, but they're not serving. Right. And so 00:04:57.29\00:05:00.80 having service and love together, we feel it really 00:05:00.80\00:05:04.53 exemplifies what Christ would do here on Earth in. I mean so 00:05:04.53\00:05:08.44 so, yeah, that's that's what it stands for. Yeah. 00:05:08.44\00:05:11.21 >> How did you get started with that would come from. 00:05:11.21\00:05:14.71 >> So saw when we started 00:05:14.71\00:05:17.41 and so is like 13 years ago. Now, about 13 years ago, 00:05:17.41\00:05:22.45 I had just become an avid is Christian. And when I when I 00:05:22.45\00:05:26.55 started to study the Bible, 00:05:26.55\00:05:28.89 you know, it's just I I really want to find my purpose. 00:05:28.89\00:05:33.83 You know, after after I started to follow Christ, I'm like, 00:05:33.83\00:05:36.26 okay, what is it you want to do with my life? So I tried all 00:05:36.26\00:05:39.37 these different outreach projects. You know, I just as 00:05:39.37\00:05:41.97 certain nursing home. And I went to, you know, we did some 00:05:41.97\00:05:45.11 sidewalks, cold outreach and, you know, on the street and 00:05:45.11\00:05:48.41 and, you know, want to kids at a section that complex. And, 00:05:48.41\00:05:52.31 you know, we did all these things. And and it ended up 00:05:52.31\00:05:56.55 evolving into a lot of young people helping in all these 00:05:56.55\00:06:01.09 areas. And one of the areas that I I was gravitated to the 00:06:01.09\00:06:04.46 most was serving the unsheltered population, people 00:06:04.46\00:06:07.03 experiencing homelessness. And, 00:06:07.03\00:06:10.27 you know, I think part of the reason why gravitated toward it 00:06:10.27\00:06:12.93 so much is when I was younger. When I was 20 years old, 00:06:12.93\00:06:16.87 I experience homelessness myself. So I I lived in the 00:06:16.87\00:06:20.61 car. I was in Chicago's in the middle of winter. And it was it 00:06:20.61\00:06:25.88 was it was tough, you know, but not having a a place to go take 00:06:25.88\00:06:29.18 a shower and I go to 7.11, bathrooms and clean up real 00:06:29.18\00:06:32.95 quick and I couldn't do laundry. You know, I have to do 00:06:32.95\00:06:36.59 that in the bathroom somehow, too, with some soap and water 00:06:36.59\00:06:39.06 and try to make that work. I was going to the Mexican 00:06:39.06\00:06:42.70 restaurants, eating the free chips and salsa and leaving, 00:06:42.70\00:06:45.67 you know, because I I couldn't I couldn't afford the food. 00:06:45.67\00:06:48.87 So it was a it was a it was a really at the time before it 00:06:48.87\00:06:53.78 was a Christian. I didn't really know why I was 00:06:53.78\00:06:56.18 experiencing. That's like what is happening to me. 00:06:56.18\00:06:58.95 But after becoming a Christian, you know, God always takes 00:06:58.95\00:07:01.48 those past experiences and and and makes and and does 00:07:01.48\00:07:05.25 something out of the right, make something out of those 00:07:05.25\00:07:06.96 experiences. I feel like that's why I gravitate toward says so 00:07:06.96\00:07:10.83 much to that project. So good. 00:07:10.83\00:07:13.73 >> We're going to have some special music just a moment. 00:07:13.73\00:07:16.40 But I want to say is what they do is is it is you're actually 00:07:16.40\00:07:22.40 some of us we can give some people can give financially 00:07:22.40\00:07:25.67 some people, you know, we pray. But when you're really get out 00:07:25.67\00:07:29.88 and meet the people, when you find the homeless people, 00:07:29.88\00:07:33.28 you're able to make a difference in their lives, 00:07:33.28\00:07:36.05 not only physically but spiritually and see people's 00:07:36.05\00:07:39.72 lives change because someone doesn't really care. I'm sure 00:07:39.72\00:07:43.76 if you're out on the street and somebody homeless, if you say, 00:07:43.76\00:07:46.56 look, I memorize the whole book of revelation, want to hear and 00:07:46.56\00:07:51.17 and they're like, I'm hungry. Yeah, I know. I'm I'm really 00:07:51.17\00:07:54.60 hungry. What can you need? So I I can just hear all pray 00:07:54.60\00:07:58.21 for you, the Lord to bless just somehow. And then I go the next 00:07:58.21\00:08:01.11 guy. And so what you all are really doing, what salt is 00:08:01.11\00:08:04.18 doing and what really Yvonne's runner first brought this Tim 00:08:04.18\00:08:08.72 and talk to him about it. And Jason, is the fact that 00:08:08.72\00:08:11.79 you're reaching people where they are. And so they're not 00:08:11.79\00:08:16.06 always that kind of people that some of us Christians like to 00:08:16.06\00:08:19.66 associate with their want to be around one to do so. It's a 00:08:19.66\00:08:23.10 special calling that you have. And so, but I believe that 00:08:23.10\00:08:27.44 every person watching this program tonight can help in 00:08:27.44\00:08:30.71 some way. So I got a few ideas myself. I may be later on, 00:08:30.71\00:08:35.28 be able to talk to you and maybe even challenges, you say 00:08:35.28\00:08:38.38 with certain things that we can do to support. But, you know, 00:08:38.38\00:08:41.55 if we look at the book and James and then, you know, 00:08:41.55\00:08:44.32 our responsibility is to help those who can't can't take care 00:08:44.32\00:08:48.09 of themselves right up to me there. So other words does 00:08:48.09\00:08:51.13 showing Jesus rather than tell somebody about Jesus. And 00:08:51.13\00:08:53.83 that's right. When you go to John Intel in Jesus loves you. 00:08:53.83\00:08:57.13 But you know, he's hungry, but it like for you to give him an 00:08:57.13\00:09:00.47 apple and then you give me an Apple. Would you give me the 00:09:00.47\00:09:03.17 apple? Well, Jesus loves me and he did. He want me. You're my 00:09:03.17\00:09:06.94 brother and the Lord gives you a chance to do something. 00:09:06.94\00:09:09.64 So what you're doing with so little is amazing. So we're 00:09:09.64\00:09:13.55 going to talk about the expansion of your ministry have 00:09:13.55\00:09:17.15 is grown. And I'm sure you probably got all the money in 00:09:17.15\00:09:20.26 the bank that you need and all of that. No, no Nyad has it. 00:09:20.26\00:09:28.76 But your fate. I always tell people your faith doesn't even 00:09:28.76\00:09:32.00 begin. Know your site and oh, yeah, oh, yeah. If you like 00:09:32.00\00:09:35.67 3ABN there's times we have no idea. People take it for 00:09:35.67\00:09:39.27 granted after all these years that the lights are on and 00:09:39.27\00:09:42.24 we're still, you know, satellites for going around the 00:09:42.24\00:09:44.78 world have no idea. There's times it's like Lord. And we 00:09:44.78\00:09:48.88 are to have, you know, we have to have money to pay this 9 00:09:48.88\00:09:52.12 different satellites, ransom, let alone the home ministry. 00:09:52.12\00:09:55.29 But God always comes through. So, yes, it strengthens our 00:09:55.29\00:09:58.93 faith, but we have and of course, we knew none of this 00:09:58.93\00:10:02.23 without cry. So we happen to have Jamie George that we love 00:10:02.23\00:10:06.37 and appreciate. I heard that you all do to Jamie is going to 00:10:06.37\00:10:10.71 be playing tonight. Grant is at all-time highs. 00:15:10.87\00:15:15.41 Every $100 increase in median rent equals a 9% increase in 00:15:15.41\00:15:19.55 homelessness. And there's been a $550 increase in the past 3 00:15:19.55\00:15:24.55 years. That means a 50% increase in homeless. And so 00:15:24.55\00:15:28.06 we're starting to see that now. 00:15:28.06\00:15:31.46 >> Saltes vision is that every metropolitan area in the U.S. 00:15:31.46\00:15:36.10 has a comprehensive drop-in center for people experiencing 00:15:36.10\00:15:38.80 homelessness. 00:15:38.80\00:15:40.84 As I became a Christian and started to think about how can 00:15:40.84\00:15:44.57 I take this energy that was putting into the world before 00:15:44.57\00:15:48.21 into something that 00:15:48.21\00:15:49.81 got to use. 00:15:49.81\00:15:51.75 >> So we're doing breakfast or serve about 00:15:51.75\00:15:54.92 8 to 16 at the time, 00:15:54.92\00:15:57.69 but that started growing 00:15:57.69\00:16:00.92 sorts. Then we were, sir, I think close to 200. 00:16:00.92\00:16:05.06 >> As we continue to share food, we didn't want to just 00:16:05.06\00:16:08.06 stop and food. 00:16:08.06\00:16:10.70 And so we start to provide clothing, hygiene products, 00:16:10.70\00:16:13.60 which ended up leading to its fundraising for clothing 00:16:13.60\00:16:16.10 trailer. We called our Change trailer. We didn't know at the 00:16:16.10\00:16:19.57 time, but that trailer helped inspire kind of our our model 00:16:19.57\00:16:23.88 moving forward and how we deliver our services. And then 00:16:23.88\00:16:27.12 the next big milestone was a shower trailer. Now we're 00:16:27.12\00:16:29.88 providing food. We start to bring in have barbers, hair 00:16:29.88\00:16:33.02 cuts. We're doing a showers. We're doing clothing and 00:16:33.02\00:16:36.62 hygiene products. And we start to add other services like mail 00:16:36.62\00:16:39.89 services. We added limited storage services charging 00:16:39.89\00:16:43.40 stations for the UN shelter. You sign up for showers but 00:16:43.40\00:16:47.34 there needed to be up comprehensive drop-in center in 00:16:47.34\00:16:50.61 downtown Orlando. Then there needs to be a front door for 00:16:50.61\00:16:53.61 people experiencing homelessness. One place where 00:16:53.61\00:16:56.18 someone can calm and say I want my homelessness to and and a 00:16:56.18\00:16:59.41 case manager can guide them through that process from 00:16:59.41\00:17:02.02 beginning to end 00:17:02.02\00:17:03.62 [MUSIC] 00:17:03.62\00:17:06.15 because of different red tape that a community might face. 00:17:06.15\00:17:10.23 The services are not being able to be offered. So being a 00:17:10.23\00:17:13.76 mobile center, we're able to get around a lot of that red 00:17:13.76\00:17:17.17 tape. We have a prototype that we've created. And once we 00:17:17.17\00:17:20.47 master this prototype, we're going to be duplicating and 00:17:20.47\00:17:23.30 metropolitan areas across the U.S.. 00:17:23.30\00:17:26.64 >> We all are just working together to help provide the 00:17:26.64\00:17:31.08 most vulnerable, not only with their basic needs, the most 00:17:31.08\00:17:34.25 basic human needs, but also to help and their homelessness to 00:17:34.25\00:17:38.59 to revive that, hoping that that one day they do have to be 00:17:38.59\00:17:43.19 in it living on the street. They can be in a home. 00:17:43.19\00:17:47.86 Our hope is that 00:17:47.86\00:17:49.83 you join us and becoming a part of that story here in central 00:17:49.83\00:17:53.80 Florida. 00:17:53.80\00:17:55.30 [MUSIC] 00:17:55.30\00:17:59.51 [MUSIC] 00:17:59.51\00:18:04.51 [MUSIC] 00:18:04.51\00:18:06.51 >> And that a man that is so powerful, what you guys are 00:18:06.51\00:18:09.55 doing meeting the needs of people where they are. How are 00:18:09.55\00:18:14.16 you including spirituality in this? 00:18:14.16\00:18:17.29 >> Yes. So one of the services we offer and and, you know, 00:18:17.29\00:18:20.96 all these basic services and like showers and laundry sa 00:18:20.96\00:18:23.93 basic. But these meaning these basic human needs, right? 00:18:23.93\00:18:27.67 They they build relationship interest and then we get them 00:18:27.67\00:18:30.64 to our case. Management team are spiritual care team. 00:18:30.64\00:18:33.27 Our mental counseling team are spiritual care team actually 00:18:33.27\00:18:36.64 help. They do group 5 studies 4 days a week. They do one-on-one 00:18:36.64\00:18:40.48 Bible studies for those that are interested. They do church 00:18:40.48\00:18:43.28 services on site. They'll do baptisms annually. They do a 00:18:43.28\00:18:47.19 call for baptisms every year and they do visitations for our 00:18:47.19\00:18:50.73 guests to go to the hospital. We had to guess that was was 00:18:50.73\00:18:54.00 working with our case manager moving along. Things were going 00:18:54.00\00:18:57.17 well, he's he got a job. And overnight while he was 00:18:57.17\00:19:00.87 sleeping, he got hit by a car was paralyzed from the neck 00:19:00.87\00:19:03.41 down. And so his whole world turned upside down right by our 00:19:03.41\00:19:08.21 special cares. He went to the hospital. They were visiting 00:19:08.21\00:19:10.28 with him, you know, continuing that relationship because this 00:19:10.28\00:19:13.38 we're not in it. There's no ulterior motive for what we're 00:19:13.38\00:19:15.72 doing, right. We just want to show that genuine love to the 00:19:15.72\00:19:18.22 people we serve and released exemplify who Christ is right. 00:19:18.22\00:19:21.86 And so so then, you know, our special care team may also 00:19:21.86\00:19:25.33 visit our guests to go to prison. You know, sometimes 00:19:25.33\00:19:28.26 some of our guests experiencing homelessness come from the 00:19:28.26\00:19:30.73 prison system, right? And so sometimes when they have 00:19:30.73\00:19:33.40 nothing else going for them, when they come out, no family 00:19:33.40\00:19:36.27 there living on the street, they might turn back to that 00:19:36.27\00:19:39.57 that life. And so they help to create relationship with that 00:19:39.57\00:19:42.88 group as well. If they end up back in prison, they going to 00:19:42.88\00:19:45.88 visit them to check in on them and so on. And then they also 00:19:45.88\00:19:50.15 do things like last year. He actually the 2 weddings for 00:19:50.15\00:19:53.02 guests that moved into housing. So they moved in the housing. 00:19:53.02\00:19:56.12 You met somebody, we're getting married. They called up. 00:19:56.12\00:19:58.86 They call their spiritual care team. He came to the wedding 00:19:58.86\00:20:01.53 for a city that 2 weddings last year and I and then he'll do 00:20:01.53\00:20:05.13 for a memorial services for guests that pass away because 00:20:05.13\00:20:07.60 unfortunately, when you exposed to the elements and you're 00:20:07.60\00:20:10.54 you're living on the street, things happen. And, you know, 00:20:10.54\00:20:14.24 we'll be telling the story of some stories about that later. 00:20:14.24\00:20:17.31 But things happen. 00:20:17.31\00:20:18.78 And, you know, they that they pass away he to memorial 00:20:18.78\00:20:21.38 services to help everyone have closure. And he does house 00:20:21.38\00:20:25.19 blessing. So I guess that we move in the housing they hey, 00:20:25.19\00:20:28.36 hey, can you bless our new home to us, our new place and we'll 00:20:28.36\00:20:31.33 do that. So it's really 00:20:31.33\00:20:33.40 the what what what happens on the spiritual care side is a 00:20:33.40\00:20:37.27 lot of people don't know how to process what they're going 00:20:37.27\00:20:40.54 through through that spiritual lands right there asking the 00:20:40.54\00:20:42.80 question, got, why is this happening to me like what 00:20:42.80\00:20:46.24 what's going on here? And so he's able to help them process 00:20:46.24\00:20:49.14 through that because a lot of the time they need to get past 00:20:49.14\00:20:52.85 that in order to end their homelessness. And so he's there 00:20:52.85\00:20:55.75 to kind of walk them through that process. Yeah, yeah, 00:20:55.75\00:20:59.42 I go back just a little bit as this. 00:20:59.42\00:21:02.22 >> The more I hear about it, this is not a little 00:21:02.22\00:21:04.13 organization tonight. Could be started off that way, but it's 00:21:04.13\00:21:07.56 continued to grow and a girl. So I'll tell us how how you you 00:21:07.56\00:21:12.40 guys at my house, you know, and then how you share the same 00:21:12.40\00:21:16.94 vision for ministry and give us a little bit of your back now, 00:21:16.94\00:21:19.81 because I know there's folks that want to know that and say, 00:21:19.81\00:21:22.48 well, now tell me background. 00:21:22.48\00:21:26.21 >> Yes, I actually met Eric through salt. I had just moved 00:21:26.21\00:21:30.69 to Florida and because God was leading me there to work as a 00:21:30.69\00:21:35.69 teacher on that one of our schools over there. And so and 00:21:35.69\00:21:39.73 I was praying and I said, Lord, I need you to help me find some 00:21:39.73\00:21:43.57 good Christian friends. You know, people that really serve 00:21:43.57\00:21:46.80 you cause that, you know who you're with is we have a call, 00:21:46.80\00:21:49.07 right? So I want to make sure that around good influences. 00:21:49.07\00:21:52.31 And so 00:21:52.31\00:21:54.01 a friend that I knew she said. 00:21:54.01\00:21:57.05 >> Whether you come to salt and I said, oh, I've been praying, 00:21:57.05\00:22:01.38 you know, to be able to volunteer somewhere and to be 00:22:01.38\00:22:03.39 able to me. 00:22:03.39\00:22:04.49 >> Christian godly people. And so I went to salt and then 00:22:04.49\00:22:08.09 I ended up meeting him. We became friends, you know, 00:22:08.09\00:22:11.19 and IBM to, you know, just continuously served through the 00:22:11.19\00:22:14.10 ministry. 00:22:14.10\00:22:15.20 >> And then eventually, you know, we fell in love. Haha. 00:22:15.20\00:22:18.70 >> We've got some leading. But yeah, it's been an amazing 00:22:18.70\00:22:23.30 and is to see the way that God has led salt to see the way 00:22:23.30\00:22:26.71 that he has grown the ministry to see just the miracles happen 00:22:26.71\00:22:30.31 time after time. I mean, it's been just an honor to see God 00:22:30.31\00:22:34.05 working through your teacher. Yes, so I was a teacher. 00:22:34.05\00:22:38.79 But now the school counselors still work in the schools, 00:22:38.79\00:22:41.29 but it was a school counselor. You know, a lot of you guys 00:22:41.29\00:22:44.26 been married for years the year. 00:22:44.26\00:22:47.00 >> Yeah, yeah. Yeah. It's interesting. There's a lot of 00:22:47.00\00:22:49.96 marriages that come out of saw, you know, and 00:22:49.96\00:22:55.44 >> we I mean, wow. So Eric introduced and know where you 00:22:55.44\00:23:00.71 part of it to melt. 00:23:00.71\00:23:01.84 >> Of intrigue. Yeah. Haha using Jason, our son to palm to 00:23:01.84\00:23:07.12 his wife. Oh, yeah. That is on our board of directors. I so 00:23:07.12\00:23:12.72 you know, Jason makes a joke. He's like I'm at my baby and 00:23:12.72\00:23:15.26 assaults or Yahoo. 00:23:15.26\00:23:16.76 >> He did. He did. And but, you know, it's when you when you 00:23:16.76\00:23:21.03 get into ministry with people in your, you're really in the 00:23:21.03\00:23:23.37 trenches trenches with somebody and you know, and you really 00:23:23.37\00:23:27.17 get to see who they are. Yeah. And and so, yeah. So that 00:23:27.17\00:23:31.34 was been an amazing journey. Yeah, yeah. But some saw has 00:23:31.34\00:23:36.14 has definitely grown a lot over the years for sure. And she's 00:23:36.14\00:23:39.48 Sam big part of that. I have a map that I I put I created to 00:23:39.48\00:23:43.95 show kind of the different locations that we have. And so 00:23:43.95\00:23:48.09 where where and we have some different areas, those those 00:23:48.09\00:23:51.46 red pans are where we are. And so there's the Tampa 00:23:51.46\00:23:55.73 Daytona we go to once a month. We have some several different 00:23:55.73\00:24:00.54 locations in central Florida. And we accept a branch in San 00:24:00.54\00:24:03.77 Diego as well. They just got their first shower trailer 00:24:03.77\00:24:07.44 earlier this year. And so we're really excited about that, 00:24:07.44\00:24:10.08 too. And it's been, you know, it's it's been a journey. 00:24:10.08\00:24:14.98 God has definitely, 00:24:14.98\00:24:16.92 you know, I I remember we first started saw, you know, we had 00:24:16.92\00:24:20.22 all our leaders in Rome. We're up like a volunteer for 00:24:20.22\00:24:23.59 years. I mean, Till 2020, we're all volunteer organization. 00:24:23.59\00:24:27.13 But to make a bigger impact, we realize we need to hire some 00:24:27.13\00:24:29.40 staff, right? And so we ended up going that direction. 00:24:29.40\00:24:31.70 But 00:24:31.70\00:24:33.10 well, we are first starting back in 2011 are being in a 00:24:33.10\00:24:35.04 room with all of our leaders are volunteer leaders. 00:24:35.04\00:24:38.31 I told him I'm like, look, one day we're going to be serving 00:24:38.31\00:24:40.48 so many people that we're going to have to work for this 00:24:40.48\00:24:43.14 organization full-time and and, you know, and ended up 00:24:43.14\00:24:46.95 happening, you know, and and now we have 30 employees and, 00:24:46.95\00:24:50.35 you know, you know, a little over half or full time, we have 00:24:50.35\00:24:53.42 some part timers there operating all these different 00:24:53.42\00:24:55.92 areas serving, you know, at over 500 different people a 00:24:55.92\00:25:01.33 week with over 7,000, 1000 different services and 00:25:01.33\00:25:05.73 resources. And it's it's 00:25:05.73\00:25:08.20 it's been. Yeah, it's it's really humbling. Just to think 00:25:08.20\00:25:11.21 about, 00:25:11.21\00:25:12.41 you know, where God has brought us. Yeah, I'm out. If I'm out 00:25:12.41\00:25:15.78 on the street homeless in Florida where you all are, 00:25:15.78\00:25:20.42 how do I get introduced 00:25:20.42\00:25:23.22 to solve? Yeah. So you know, it's interesting. We do know 00:25:23.22\00:25:27.46 marketing for services like for the unsheltered population, 00:25:27.46\00:25:30.89 right? And a lot of the time, you know, maybe half of them 00:25:30.89\00:25:33.70 have some phones or government phones are not like smartphones 00:25:33.70\00:25:36.16 that can score on social media or whatever. So it's all word 00:25:36.16\00:25:39.37 of mouth. So I remember when we're starting with just food, 00:25:39.37\00:25:42.27 we start with just food word feeding 10 to 15 people 00:25:42.27\00:25:44.81 downtown Orlando. And and I remember we start with just 00:25:44.81\00:25:49.44 feeding 10 to 15 people and those 10 to 15 went to others. 00:25:49.44\00:25:53.82 And I came here come. The scoop really cares. They really care. 00:25:53.82\00:25:56.79 So more people came in and up. And in less than 2 years, 00:25:56.79\00:26:00.59 we had over 300 people are sharing food with with hundreds 00:26:00.59\00:26:03.86 of volunteers. 00:26:03.86\00:26:05.36 And, you know, the way that we grew was all data driven. 00:26:05.36\00:26:08.83 It was about asking what they needed. So we said, let's do a 00:26:08.83\00:26:11.77 survey. What do you guys need? You know what? What do you all 00:26:11.77\00:26:14.74 need? And clothing and hygiene was a big need, right? So then 00:26:14.74\00:26:17.77 we we got clothing, hygiene trailer that we did more 00:26:17.77\00:26:20.68 surveys. And we realized over half of the people are actively 00:26:20.68\00:26:24.21 looking for work that going on job interviews. But those same 00:26:24.21\00:26:28.15 people hadn't showered in 3 to 7 days. Some people going on 00:26:28.15\00:26:31.55 job interviews haven't showered in 3 months and there are going 00:26:31.55\00:26:34.56 on job interviews literally. Remember what the one guy did a 00:26:34.56\00:26:37.26 survey. 00:26:37.26\00:26:38.36 I'd see him all the time and he'd be like, hey, you know, 00:26:38.36\00:26:41.00 I I got a job interview. Pray for me and I'm like, 00:26:41.00\00:26:43.97 yeah, let's pray. No one. And then 2 weeks later, see him 00:26:43.97\00:26:46.60 again at that time were just sharing food every 2 weeks. 00:26:46.60\00:26:49.97 And I saw him again and get that one but got another one 00:26:49.97\00:26:53.11 coming up. So when I did his survey, he was one of them. 00:26:53.11\00:26:56.18 The hadn't showered in 3 months. And it's no wonder he's 00:26:56.18\00:26:59.41 not able to find a job, Brian, so that the surveys helped lead 00:26:59.41\00:27:03.22 kind of the growth of salt. Now we offer 12 different 00:27:03.22\00:27:06.12 services, actually have a little short video that shows 00:27:06.12\00:27:09.02 that those services. Yeah. 00:27:09.02\00:27:11.46 [MUSIC] 00:27:11.46\00:27:16.43 [MUSIC] 00:27:16.43\00:27:21.44 [MUSIC] 00:27:21.44\00:27:26.44 [MUSIC] 00:27:26.44\00:27:31.45 [MUSIC] 00:27:31.45\00:27:36.45 [MUSIC] 00:27:36.45\00:27:41.26 [MUSIC] 00:27:41.26\00:27:46.26 [MUSIC] 00:27:46.26\00:27:51.23 [MUSIC] 00:27:51.23\00:27:56.44 >> I've been in a ministry, but in ministry, it's also a 00:27:56.44\00:27:59.81 business and you have to operate it as a business. 00:27:59.81\00:28:04.75 I'm always a little bit. I don't want to say taken back 00:28:04.75\00:28:08.28 a little bit surprised that you say, well, we need we are 00:28:08.28\00:28:11.49 feeding this. Many people now are feeding hundreds and all 00:28:11.49\00:28:14.62 about this other trainer and then we booked this other. 00:28:14.62\00:28:17.69 We already established early on. You don't have like a huge 00:28:17.69\00:28:21.13 amount of money. You're not a multimillionaire. So. 00:28:21.13\00:28:25.03 >> I've got to find out a little bit. I mean, you're 00:28:25.03\00:28:28.07 you're starting and then you go into the OK now we've got cold 00:28:28.07\00:28:32.91 food, but now I need some calls. And now we need to Hi 00:28:32.91\00:28:36.48 Jane. Now an aide, you know, and you continue to go. Yeah, 00:28:36.48\00:28:42.05 how is this happening? I mean, somehow you've got to be having 00:28:42.05\00:28:45.45 people on that tonight. I don't want to rob anybody of the 00:28:45.45\00:28:49.16 blessing of being able to be a part of salt. So a bit we're 00:28:49.16\00:28:53.40 going to put up your Web site where people can donate. 00:28:53.40\00:28:57.10 Yeah, because what they're doing is incredible. And I 00:28:57.10\00:29:01.47 mean, we can send home. We can talk to people all we want to 00:29:01.47\00:29:05.04 and we can get on the phone or zoom and or Bible studies and 00:29:05.04\00:29:07.98 that's all good. That's all great. But to be able to 00:29:07.98\00:29:11.41 actually go to where people are on the street, they have no 00:29:11.41\00:29:15.42 hope. That's right. There's really many of these people 00:29:15.42\00:29:18.12 have no hope and they have nothing as you said some ago as 00:29:18.12\00:29:22.42 long as 3 months. And then as folks get a job, who's going to 00:29:22.42\00:29:25.93 want to hire you when you go looking like that? So tell us I 00:29:25.93\00:29:30.50 know that people are are helping, but how do you getting 00:29:30.50\00:29:34.07 this all together and how the Lord and yeah, God, God, 00:29:34.07\00:29:38.74 just as we as we dream about the need to want to meet for 00:29:38.74\00:29:42.58 somebody. I mean, like our mail service, we're doing mail for 00:29:42.58\00:29:45.35 over 400 people right now. We're like a little mini post 00:29:45.35\00:29:48.15 office, right saying that because a lot of people want 00:29:48.15\00:29:50.69 know what you're saying. So so when you're experiencing 00:29:50.69\00:29:53.22 homelessness, you don't have an address, right? And so they 00:29:53.22\00:29:57.26 need somewhere to put in something Nash put in their job 00:29:57.26\00:29:59.89 applications, right? They need they need an address to receive 00:29:59.89\00:30:03.57 their Social Security checks and then their paychecks could 00:30:03.57\00:30:05.83 a lot of time when you're experiencing homelessness. 00:30:05.83\00:30:08.04 You've already burned a bridge with a bank. You've overdraft 00:30:08.04\00:30:10.27 you're not a blow up an account. So you get those 00:30:10.27\00:30:12.81 checks sent to them. If if they're in the process of 00:30:12.81\00:30:15.71 getting approved for Social Security and up on top of that 00:30:15.71\00:30:18.08 mail to make sure that they're doing everything timely, 00:30:18.08\00:30:21.75 you know, pat medication that comes in the mail, there's so 00:30:21.75\00:30:25.29 many things. I mean, mail we found male was one of the 00:30:25.29\00:30:28.46 service's most correlated to getting someone over to case 00:30:28.46\00:30:31.19 management. And it's key in helping and homelessness so 00:30:31.19\00:30:35.53 well with mail. We just we're just offering it to like just, 00:30:35.53\00:30:38.27 you know, some was sharing his story with us. We're like, 00:30:38.27\00:30:40.34 yeah, I will receive your mail here. And then another 4 people 00:30:40.34\00:30:43.74 came and then another 50 and another 200. And you know, 00:30:43.74\00:30:48.14 and we're like, well, you know, we just got to keep going, 00:30:48.14\00:30:51.65 you know, put God continues to fill the gap. He uses people, 00:30:51.65\00:30:55.88 I mean, as an example. And this is a beautiful example. We 00:30:55.88\00:30:58.62 we've been visiting 3 of the and now with this ministry 00:30:58.62\00:31:01.72 since 2018, the viewers, the viewers at home, you have seen 00:31:01.72\00:31:05.49 this ministry grow from the beginning to now, actually the 00:31:05.49\00:31:09.13 viewers here at 3ABN paid for half of our first shower 00:31:09.13\00:31:12.73 trailer. And then we were on here sharing about the vision 00:31:12.73\00:31:16.47 to have a shower trailer sharing that that our guests 00:31:16.47\00:31:19.27 that are trying to get off the streets, shelters are full. 00:31:19.27\00:31:21.71 They can be in a shelter. They have nowhere else to go. 00:31:21.71\00:31:24.68 They just they they don't have the income. They need to find a 00:31:24.68\00:31:27.05 job and they have nowhere to shower, right? 00:31:27.05\00:31:30.79 We suites share that with the viewers here and they paid for 00:31:30.79\00:31:33.42 half of that trailer. And it was it was one of the most 00:31:33.42\00:31:36.42 beautiful things and in 3ABN, actually help kind of get us 00:31:36.42\00:31:40.30 going right cause and that bill grew into other things. But 00:31:40.30\00:31:43.77 but, yeah, that that's kind of how God he's been. He's just, 00:31:43.77\00:31:46.60 you know, as we dream about meeting more news for people 00:31:46.60\00:31:49.77 and bringing more people into the kingdom, God provides the 00:31:49.77\00:31:52.64 funds that are needed, you know, and it happened very 00:31:52.64\00:31:56.24 quickly in a short time in me from 2020 to to now 00:31:56.24\00:32:01.68 we've grown our side from 2019 through now. We've grown by 30 00:32:01.68\00:32:04.85 times. It's huge. Yeah, it's and so and only God can you can 00:32:04.85\00:32:11.29 have credit for that because we can't wait. I can't take the 00:32:11.29\00:32:14.40 credit. I I you know, there. I mean, I mean, a lot of 00:32:14.40\00:32:17.23 fundraisers, but to to to go from 90,000 the year in 2019 to 00:32:17.23\00:32:21.70 3 million in 2022, it's it's it's only God can do that. 00:32:21.70\00:32:26.01 You know? I mean, yeah, yeah. And where where you get your 00:32:26.01\00:32:29.81 employees from. So we we go. And we just we recruit on line. 00:32:29.81\00:32:35.65 We we interview everyone, you know, and and, you know, 00:32:35.65\00:32:39.69 a lot of our staff that in the beginning, they start as 00:32:39.69\00:32:41.99 volunteers. You know, they were doing this work for free. 00:32:41.99\00:32:44.36 So that no-brainers, like, yeah, let's let's bring on to 00:32:44.36\00:32:47.13 do this, right. But, you know, other times we go out and we 00:32:47.13\00:32:51.00 see who has the same values. And, you know, we've had times 00:32:51.00\00:32:54.70 where we've hired someone has people really good people and 00:32:54.70\00:32:57.77 they might not identify as Christian. Right? I remember we 00:32:57.77\00:33:00.44 had a an atheist on our team and then believe in God, 00:33:00.44\00:33:04.51 but he shoots heart for people, right? You wouldn't be able to 00:33:04.51\00:33:07.75 tell the difference right on. And so I remember we were 00:33:07.75\00:33:11.25 struggling 1, 1, time and we had run out of all supplies and 00:33:11.25\00:33:16.19 we didn't we. We're going through some challenges with 00:33:16.19\00:33:19.16 cash flow. And we're like, man, we just got to just going to 00:33:19.16\00:33:21.83 have to just wait when we don't have any supplies, you know, 00:33:21.83\00:33:24.50 to to do this. 00:33:24.50\00:33:25.93 And the next day, a church coms with 3, pat, we have prayed all 00:33:25.93\00:33:29.60 together as a team like God provides what we need because 00:33:29.60\00:33:32.81 we want to be able to to continue to meet the needs of 00:33:32.81\00:33:35.31 the people here because it we're seeing I don't often 00:33:35.31\00:33:38.15 mentioned as we see over 100 people a day, 5 days a week and 00:33:38.15\00:33:41.12 our main location sometimes up to hire 50 people in a day. 00:33:41.12\00:33:44.42 Every day we get someone new to our services, at least one 00:33:44.42\00:33:47.92 person up to 15 to 20 new people. And I and and so, 00:33:47.92\00:33:53.60 you know, it's it weighs heavy on us. We can't provide that 00:33:53.60\00:33:56.06 needed, right, because the need continues to grow. But our 00:33:56.06\00:33:58.67 budget doesn't necessarily grow as much as the is right. 00:33:58.67\00:34:01.70 So so we prayed as a team and the next day out of nowhere, 00:34:01.70\00:34:05.77 church comes in a box truck. 3 palaces, stuff. No one had 00:34:05.77\00:34:08.98 talked to them. I I go out there like what? What I like. 00:34:08.98\00:34:12.91 I did. You know that is like now what what are you talking 00:34:12.91\00:34:15.72 about? I'm like we prayed yesterday forgot to bring 00:34:15.72\00:34:18.85 supplies. And now you're here with 3 pounds of all the 00:34:18.85\00:34:21.16 supplies we need. And he's like and we're just clarifying got 00:34:21.16\00:34:24.43 together because that's just how God works. Right? But I 00:34:24.43\00:34:27.23 remember our employee that was atheist. He he was like man, 00:34:27.23\00:34:31.57 got really listen. This is you guys as prayers high. 00:34:31.57\00:34:33.87 >> I yeah. 00:34:33.87\00:34:37.67 >> You know so so anyway, we we 00:34:37.67\00:34:41.38 you know, that's kind of our team, our team, and they're 00:34:41.38\00:34:43.78 they're have huge hearts for people. And, you know, going to 00:34:43.78\00:34:48.45 like when it comes to like bringing hope, right? I mean, 00:34:48.45\00:34:51.89 you know, bringing hope to the people experiencing 00:34:51.89\00:34:53.76 homelessness is one thing bringing hope to our employees. 00:34:53.76\00:34:56.99 You know, it's another and bringing hope to just the 00:34:56.99\00:35:00.13 community at large. Has the community right now is is 00:35:00.13\00:35:02.80 really, really struggling on sheltered homelessness, doubled 00:35:02.80\00:35:07.17 in our area. 00:35:07.17\00:35:08.50 So like one thing that we do every year as we do these 00:35:08.50\00:35:12.17 baptisms, right, we do this appeal for baptisms. 00:35:12.17\00:35:18.48 When you went when someone is when someone gives their life 00:35:18.48\00:35:21.62 to Christ their resolve just skyrockets. They like they want 00:35:21.62\00:35:26.32 to see their case manager 3 times a week instead of the one 00:35:26.32\00:35:28.62 time when we can. I mean, and and we've seen so much happened 00:35:28.62\00:35:32.89 from that. I have a quick video of some recent Baptists. 00:35:32.89\00:35:35.50 We did. We just the other week we did about baptisms at our 00:35:35.50\00:35:40.44 site downtown. So we'll play that. 00:35:40.44\00:35:43.24 [MUSIC] 00:35:43.24\00:35:48.24 [MUSIC] 00:35:48.24\00:35:53.25 [MUSIC] 00:35:53.25\00:35:55.08 [MUSIC] 00:35:55.08\00:35:59.15 >> That is so and a flame and it's so beautiful. You know 00:35:59.15\00:36:03.59 what you guys are doing and the baptism the mean, some churches 00:36:03.59\00:36:06.86 and even that has a people in that and that's small amount of 00:36:06.86\00:36:11.17 time. So that's amazing. 00:36:11.17\00:36:13.47 Tell us about the growing issue of homelessness in that area. 00:36:13.47\00:36:18.34 What's going on with that? 00:36:18.34\00:36:20.08 >> So, you know, as as people saw on the video earlier, 00:36:20.08\00:36:24.71 they did a study and they found that every $100 increase in 00:36:24.71\00:36:28.22 median rent equals a for a 9% increase in homelessness. 00:36:28.22\00:36:31.72 So there's a direct correlation between rent, increase and and 00:36:31.72\00:36:35.36 homelessness increase. 00:36:35.36\00:36:37.33 And so what's what's happening in central Florida right now? 00:36:37.33\00:36:40.36 And and really all over the U.S. is shelters have been 00:36:40.36\00:36:43.80 consistently full for years. No one can get into a shelter 00:36:43.80\00:36:47.37 right now because of that, the unsheltered homelessness number 00:36:47.37\00:36:52.21 continues to rise because they don't have anywhere to go for 00:36:52.21\00:36:55.58 shelter. So they just end up having when someone experiences 00:36:55.58\00:36:58.35 homelessness today some became was tomorrow. They would either 00:36:58.35\00:37:03.22 be sleeping in a car on the street. They have no other 00:37:03.22\00:37:05.19 choice. There's no other option. So we're seeing single 00:37:05.19\00:37:08.16 moms that can keep up with the rising rent were seen on a 00:37:08.16\00:37:11.63 youth and young adults that that just don't have the income 00:37:11.63\00:37:14.83 or don't have family to support them that are becoming they're 00:37:14.83\00:37:17.47 literally sleeping on the street. I saw a young boy the 00:37:17.47\00:37:20.60 other day looked like he was 16 years old coming for a shower, 00:37:20.60\00:37:23.84 you know, and then we have we've seen a lot of seniors, 00:37:23.84\00:37:28.18 huge increase in seniors. 78 easier. 80 year, 80 years 00:37:28.18\00:37:33.11 old. We had a senior. She was 72 years old widow for the 00:37:33.11\00:37:38.65 first time experiencing homelessness the first time at 00:37:38.65\00:37:41.09 age 72 and she had her dog with her and she came to our site. 00:37:41.09\00:37:45.66 Rhett Reese like super read. And those because it's so hot 00:37:45.66\00:37:50.07 outside, she was overheating, the broader and side. And we 00:37:50.07\00:37:54.27 want we are team like they stayed over time. I mean, 00:37:54.27\00:37:57.57 you know, they stayed extra just trying to find a place to 00:37:57.57\00:38:00.41 put this woman 00:38:00.41\00:38:02.04 and there was no place to put her. There was no place we had 00:38:02.04\00:38:05.65 to we we we with the shelter is full. 00:38:05.65\00:38:09.98 We had to teach his this like so sad we had to teach or how 00:38:09.98\00:38:13.99 to survive sleeping on the sidewalk. That's a 70 to 2 year 00:38:13.99\00:38:17.83 old woman because there's nowhere else to put her. 00:38:17.83\00:38:20.16 Now, thankfully our team and as well with other organizations 00:38:20.16\00:38:24.20 gotten off the street. But she had to spend 6 months living on 00:38:24.20\00:38:27.60 the street because because of the lack of a permanent 00:38:27.60\00:38:30.77 supportive housing, the not no shelter, the rent, increase her 00:38:30.77\00:38:34.41 income. She saw fixed income. She can't afford the crazy 00:38:34.41\00:38:37.25 rant. So it's it's just it's something that we're just 00:38:37.25\00:38:40.58 continuing to see every day every day. 00:38:40.58\00:38:47.42 >> What about giving that? I do? You have support from 00:38:47.42\00:38:52.19 churches from Adventist churches, particularly like 00:38:52.19\00:38:56.63 what kind of support you getting? 00:38:56.63\00:38:58.63 >> Yeah, so you know, the Florida conference, they 00:38:58.63\00:39:01.77 support us every year that's been very consistent. Last year 00:39:01.77\00:39:04.91 they gave they actually gave more than any other church last 00:39:04.91\00:39:07.94 year. This Florida conference did. We do have avenues 00:39:07.94\00:39:11.31 churches that common volunteer they give. But we also have 00:39:11.31\00:39:15.72 other groups. We have a Jewish synagogue that donates food and 00:39:15.72\00:39:20.46 volunteers. We have a Muslim group that provides medical 00:39:20.46\00:39:25.03 services targets for free. We have, you know, churches 00:39:25.03\00:39:29.46 that worship on Sunday that donate money that they bring us 00:39:29.46\00:39:33.77 on their pulpit to to talk about the work we're doing and 00:39:33.77\00:39:36.60 and and give checks for the organization and volunteers. 00:39:36.60\00:39:39.97 And and it's it's it's really it's really cool to see kind of 00:39:39.97\00:39:44.41 everyone come together for this cause. 00:39:44.41\00:39:47.95 So, yeah, it's it's it's been good. And that's how we've been 00:39:47.95\00:39:50.59 able to grow, actually brought some pictures, some of the 00:39:50.59\00:39:53.69 trailers that we have to kind of give kind of like a like a 00:39:53.69\00:39:57.29 timeline of our growth and in the kind of in terms of 00:39:57.29\00:39:59.96 trailers. So like good. This was that first trailer on. 00:39:59.96\00:40:02.90 But we lost this in 2016. 00:40:02.90\00:40:05.30 It's literally just a utility trailer that we had carpenters 00:40:05.30\00:40:08.67 going. They build the inside of it to have clothes hanging know 00:40:08.67\00:40:12.17 they can distribute hygiene products and clothing from that 00:40:12.17\00:40:14.74 trailer. So then we did those surveys, right? We found out 00:40:14.74\00:40:17.78 that people were going on job interviews but has showered in 00:40:17.78\00:40:20.45 3 months. So that led to our shower trailer here that 3ABN 00:40:20.45\00:40:24.09 help to find. We're doing about 80 showers a day and that 00:40:24.09\00:40:27.42 trailer, wow, that trailer. You know what we've done 50,000 00:40:27.42\00:40:32.26 showers and the trailer since we've launched in 2018 as and 00:40:32.26\00:40:35.86 and this this trailer right here is our laundry trailer has 00:40:35.86\00:40:39.33 6 washers and 6 dryers and that there's a company that has 00:40:39.33\00:40:43.77 donated all the law. They didn't own a hard $50,000 worth 00:40:43.77\00:40:47.01 of laundry detergent every year. We do 50 loads of laundry 00:40:47.01\00:40:50.98 a day at our site by this week. So that's our laundry trailers. 00:40:50.98\00:40:55.22 It's probably our heaviest rain here. But it's a it's it's it's 00:40:55.22\00:40:58.55 a makes a big difference. We did a ribbon cutting with 00:40:58.55\00:41:00.69 that trailer and actually 00:41:00.69\00:41:03.89 after the ribbon cutting, you know, the mayor was there, 00:41:03.89\00:41:07.66 you know, the city commissioners, all that good 00:41:07.66\00:41:09.66 stuff. So the city actually made a proclamation that called 00:41:09.66\00:41:13.17 it's all day that day that we launched. They can see my wife 00:41:13.17\00:41:16.87 and palmetto. They're holding the proclamation day in the 00:41:16.87\00:41:20.91 city. So we do use that as a big kind of fundraising, 00:41:20.91\00:41:24.88 kind of, you know, event and things like that. So that was 00:41:24.88\00:41:28.78 when we start to really get a lot of support from like local 00:41:28.78\00:41:32.02 government and things like that. That's kind of our set up 00:41:32.02\00:41:35.36 in our downtown location. You see that building. There 00:41:35.36\00:41:37.73 was a another organization. Let us use that building for 00:41:37.73\00:41:40.23 free. And we have a shower and a laundry trailer there set up 00:41:40.23\00:41:43.97 outside 00:41:43.97\00:41:45.20 this trailer. Right here was our first trailer dedicated to 00:41:45.20\00:41:48.10 a new city. So this is about 30 minutes north of Orlando. 00:41:48.10\00:41:52.37 We call it 00:41:52.37\00:41:54.48 snow because it's why, you know, and we do have snow in 00:41:54.48\00:41:57.91 Florida. So, yeah. And so we that that trailer has 3 full 00:41:57.91\00:42:03.25 bathrooms with showers and that goes out to another county 00:42:03.25\00:42:06.09 that's north of us. This trailer right here have a story 00:42:06.09\00:42:09.42 with we launched this trailer. 00:42:09.42\00:42:12.13 And earlier this year, a real estate company actually gave 00:42:12.13\00:42:16.40 the money to purchase that trailer. So we're really I'm 00:42:16.40\00:42:19.27 really grateful. And, you know, again, just another way 00:42:19.27\00:42:23.47 testifying, how got kind of brings random people together 00:42:23.47\00:42:27.24 to help support the mission, the cause. But that trailer 00:42:27.24\00:42:30.38 when we first launched, remember, we did the ribbon 00:42:30.38\00:42:32.48 cutting and immediately after I got a call from another shelter 00:42:32.48\00:42:36.35 in the area 00:42:36.35\00:42:38.65 are women and children's bathrooms are down. They can 00:42:38.65\00:42:42.16 use the showers that case, the bathrooms, 00:42:42.16\00:42:44.23 we need your help. 00:42:44.23\00:42:45.66 So that trailer immediately after we snipped the ribbon on 00:42:45.66\00:42:48.76 that trailer, it went right out to that shelter to sport the 00:42:48.76\00:42:51.37 women and children were affected by that bathroom being 00:42:51.37\00:42:54.14 down, supported them for about a month. But like I you know, 00:42:54.14\00:42:57.81 and I guess before going to the thing I was going to share the 00:42:57.81\00:43:01.64 next trailer, actually, we call it a beast because it's a big 00:43:01.64\00:43:05.51 trail. Actually. It's one before that 00:43:05.51\00:43:09.15 the picture before that it's has both 3 bathrooms and 2 00:43:09.15\00:43:14.66 washers and dryers and there it is 2 washers and dryers in and 00:43:14.66\00:43:18.26 it's a it's a 31 foot trailer. But that's dedicated to youth 00:43:18.26\00:43:21.76 and young adults experiencing homelessness. We serve ages 16 00:43:21.76\00:43:24.70 to 24. That's also a five-day week program separate from our 00:43:24.70\00:43:28.40 main program because the increase is just so high in 00:43:28.40\00:43:30.94 central Florida for youth and young adults, unfortunately, 00:43:30.94\00:43:34.54 like, you know, youth and young adult, 6 escaping human 00:43:34.54\00:43:37.95 trafficking. You know, we have someone right now that we're 00:43:37.95\00:43:41.78 helping out of a situation like that young woman, 19 years old. 00:43:41.78\00:43:45.39 We have a youth that are kicked out of their home youth that 00:43:45.39\00:43:49.72 identify as maybe LGBTQ and they're they're kicked out of 00:43:49.72\00:43:52.86 the House youth that are runaways, a youth java foster 00:43:52.86\00:43:57.47 system. I mean, you name it. There's just so many reasons 00:43:57.47\00:44:01.04 there. But we did the ribbon cutting for that trailers. 00:44:01.04\00:44:04.01 Well, and right after the ribbon cutting, 00:44:04.01\00:44:06.98 there was a fire at another shelter, 00:44:06.98\00:44:09.51 all the man's beds, 250 beds for the man in that shelter. 00:44:09.51\00:44:13.25 We're we're gone overnight and they have to relocate many of 00:44:13.25\00:44:17.89 them and they put Simon in other shelters, but they had 00:44:17.89\00:44:21.29 150 that had nowhere else to go. 00:44:21.29\00:44:24.39 So they were trying to city was scrambling. What do we do when 00:44:24.39\00:44:27.76 you know, we don't want these hire 50 people to be back on 00:44:27.76\00:44:30.10 the street, right? So 00:44:30.10\00:44:31.57 so they ended up. I'm going to a church and church said, 00:44:31.57\00:44:34.40 yeah, you cannot stay here in the jam. You know, you can set 00:44:34.40\00:44:36.60 up your costs and all that. 00:44:36.60\00:44:38.44 But you have to get a shower trailer here because we don't 00:44:38.44\00:44:41.21 we don't have the capacity to handle that. So the city called 00:44:41.21\00:44:44.48 me and they're like, 00:44:44.48\00:44:46.01 Eric, we need your help. 00:44:46.01\00:44:47.58 You know, this is happening. We need more bathrooms here or 00:44:47.58\00:44:51.02 else. We can use this church and we can have a place to 00:44:51.02\00:44:53.46 house these people. And so thankfully we did that ribbon 00:44:53.46\00:44:57.43 cutting. So we're like, alright, yeah, cut the ribbon 00:44:57.43\00:45:00.70 and it went right over to that church to help with with 00:45:00.70\00:45:03.50 showers and bathroom use for those man. So but like thinking 00:45:03.50\00:45:08.14 about those things, I you know, I think about how when we 00:45:08.14\00:45:11.21 increase our capacity for God to fill with with just 00:45:11.21\00:45:15.28 blessings and things to do like he he answers like immediately 00:45:15.28\00:45:19.81 after those trailers are ready. 00:45:19.81\00:45:22.48 They were put into use. They were needed. Imagine if we had 00:45:22.48\00:45:25.49 did the ribbon cutting a day earlier or a week. I mean, 00:45:25.49\00:45:29.12 a day later, a week later and when that wasn't built at the 00:45:29.12\00:45:32.39 exact time, then we wouldn't have been there to be able to 00:45:32.39\00:45:34.93 help those 2 shelters. And it's just amazing how got kind of 00:45:34.93\00:45:39.40 times everything you know? Yeah, yeah, yeah. But 00:45:39.40\00:45:43.87 >> I'm really thinking right now. I'd like to get your dress 00:45:43.87\00:45:46.91 appear here. Yeah. Website. Maybe. And tell us how we can 00:45:46.91\00:45:51.91 donate if somebody wants to go the Web site tonight. Yeah. 00:45:51.91\00:45:54.95 So. 00:45:54.95\00:45:56.15 >> The the website is www dot salt outreach Dot org. And when 00:45:56.15\00:46:02.62 you go on the website they'll right away. See a window when 00:46:02.62\00:46:05.33 they scroll down a little bit of a donate box where they can 00:46:05.33\00:46:07.83 donate. They can also if some wants to give to the mission, 00:46:07.83\00:46:11.90 they can text 00:46:11.90\00:46:13.40 somersault to 4, 4, 3, 2, 1, 00:46:13.40\00:46:17.17 If they text somersault to 4, 4, 3, 2, 1, then then they'll 00:46:17.17\00:46:22.38 get it linked to their phone. And they can view a current 00:46:22.38\00:46:24.88 fundraiser that we're running right now because of some 00:46:24.88\00:46:28.62 challenges that we're facing, unfortunately. And we probably 00:46:28.62\00:46:31.49 will go into a little later little deeper into that later. 00:46:31.49\00:46:33.79 We can talk about it not to where, where, where we're 00:46:33.79\00:46:37.73 needing help for sure right now. Yeah, we had there was one 00:46:37.73\00:46:42.00 of the trailer I forgot to mention to him. That was the 00:46:42.00\00:46:44.70 last trails on black. 00:46:44.70\00:46:46.43 It was the mental counseling trailer. So it's meant to help 00:46:46.43\00:46:50.71 it. So that trailer right there. I think I have another 00:46:50.71\00:46:52.74 picture of someone inside of that. 00:46:52.74\00:46:54.78 So it specifically for youth and young adults and that's to 00:46:54.78\00:46:57.91 provide mental health counseling to people on wheels. 00:46:57.91\00:47:00.62 We could literally meet them where they are and provide 00:47:00.62\00:47:02.98 counseling inside that trailer. Yeah, these trailers don't move 00:47:02.98\00:47:06.29 by themselves. They don't. They do tell me a little about 00:47:06.29\00:47:09.69 that. They take they take some big trucks. Some of them big. 00:47:09.69\00:47:13.56 Those are some big trailer. Yeah. So we have 2 trucks. 00:47:13.56\00:47:19.27 We definitely could use another one I think is where we have so 00:47:19.27\00:47:21.77 many trailers now. But we we we we use those trucks to 00:47:21.77\00:47:26.47 transport them. And and the unique thing about being mobile 00:47:26.47\00:47:30.05 is we can meet people experiencing homelessness where 00:47:30.05\00:47:33.48 they are. And, you know, a lot of time when you're 00:47:33.48\00:47:36.99 experiencing homelessness, you don't have a lot of 00:47:36.99\00:47:39.25 a lot of trust for the system. We've tried over and over 00:47:39.25\00:47:42.02 again. Going back to that hope aspect, right? 00:47:42.02\00:47:45.33 Someone asked me, we've served over 7500 different people over 00:47:45.33\00:47:49.03 the course of the last 4 years. Right? We send them over 00:47:49.03\00:47:53.30 300,000 times. Those 7500 people down. They asked Eric 00:47:53.30\00:47:58.14 what you see and comment like, what's what's the common 00:47:58.14\00:48:00.51 denominator between everyone experiencing homelessness and 00:48:00.51\00:48:03.51 that common denominator isn't necessarily, you know, mental 00:48:03.51\00:48:07.15 health. I, you know, addiction or or lost a job or new getting 00:48:07.15\00:48:11.92 in evicted from a home, 00:48:11.92\00:48:13.82 you know, is some people say, well, you know, mental health 00:48:13.82\00:48:16.36 is I mean homeless. This is caused by mental health issues 00:48:16.36\00:48:20.20 and 00:48:20.20\00:48:21.26 5% of the general population as a severe mental illness. 00:48:21.26\00:48:24.00 But not all of that 5% is experiencing homelessness, 00:48:24.00\00:48:26.57 right? So there has to be a difference. What's what's the 00:48:26.57\00:48:28.94 difference? 00:48:28.94\00:48:30.07 So what we realize is the difference is that when they go 00:48:30.07\00:48:34.34 through that mental health episode, when they start to 00:48:34.34\00:48:36.38 struggle with that addiction, when they get kicked out of 00:48:36.38\00:48:38.58 their home, when they lose their job, they have no one in 00:48:38.58\00:48:41.95 their life that is able or willing to care for them when 00:48:41.95\00:48:45.45 they're going through those times. So when people come to 00:48:45.45\00:48:48.36 us, they don't have anyone else in their corner. There have 00:48:48.36\00:48:51.83 anyone else in their corner that cares for them that loves 00:48:51.83\00:48:54.20 them or that is able to care for them. They don't have the 00:48:54.20\00:48:57.73 resources to care for them and they end up experiencing 00:48:57.73\00:49:00.90 homelessness. So a big part of what we do and who we are is is 00:49:00.90\00:49:05.24 building relationship 00:49:05.24\00:49:06.94 being the people in their corners saying, hey, we're here 00:49:06.94\00:49:09.64 with you, we're rooting for you. You know, we will be with 00:49:09.64\00:49:12.81 you every step of the way to get you back into a home. 00:49:12.81\00:49:16.55 You know. And I'm saying, yes, yeah, amen. 00:49:16.55\00:49:19.89 >> Share one of your own as well. A couple of your victory 00:49:19.89\00:49:23.22 stories. 00:49:23.22\00:49:24.39 >> Yeah, yeah. So one story that's that's always been close 00:49:24.39\00:49:28.33 to my heart is is is Patrick Mom. 00:49:28.33\00:49:32.97 So Patrick, we started to really start to us, hire staff 00:49:32.97\00:49:37.31 and Twenty-twenty. Patrick was one of the people we hired. 00:49:37.31\00:49:40.21 He was he was he would volunteer to help clean the 00:49:40.21\00:49:43.28 showers after each person. 00:49:43.28\00:49:45.31 And, you know, we had and about little over a year earlier, 00:49:45.31\00:49:49.48 and palm actually got to know him really well. 00:49:49.48\00:49:53.32 And, you know, he volunteer with us and he would he would, 00:49:53.32\00:49:57.56 you know, we hired him and he started to do these the do 00:49:57.56\00:50:01.43 these direct services and and and and help with the showers 00:50:01.43\00:50:04.57 and 3 months into his employment. 00:50:04.57\00:50:07.04 He start to lend and 00:50:07.04\00:50:09.07 we're like man, Patrick, is you get that checked out. He's like 00:50:09.07\00:50:12.41 not all good. You known as being the tough things are. 00:50:12.41\00:50:16.14 I'm still good. I'm good. And you know, he's he's maybe 00:50:16.14\00:50:19.41 in his 60's early 60's. 00:50:19.41\00:50:22.12 And, you know, we had celebrates birthday without 00:50:22.12\00:50:25.19 really got to know him. He became part of the family. 00:50:25.19\00:50:28.16 So about, 00:50:28.16\00:50:30.79 you know, after we noticed that he ended up can be in so much 00:50:30.79\00:50:34.93 pain. They couldn't walk anymore 00:50:34.93\00:50:37.13 and we're lie and he's like, OK, I get it checked out. 00:50:37.13\00:50:39.10 So we want to come to the hospital. 00:50:39.10\00:50:41.30 And he the doctor told him he only had a few weeks to live. 00:50:41.30\00:50:47.01 He was diagnosed with stage 4 lung cancer that metastasized 00:50:47.01\00:50:51.25 and spread to his his hip. And that's why he was limping. 00:50:51.25\00:50:55.58 And, you know, when we when we start to work with us, we 00:50:55.58\00:50:58.89 actually ended his homelessness. You know, he's in 00:50:58.89\00:51:00.72 place and he's working with a son. 00:51:00.72\00:51:04.56 What we ended up doing is you want to be close to us and 00:51:04.56\00:51:07.86 closest friends who want to be in the hospital because this 00:51:07.86\00:51:10.23 was a time of COVID restrictions and things like 00:51:10.23\00:51:12.17 that. We want a hotel in downtown and 00:51:12.17\00:51:16.30 we moved them there. 00:51:16.30\00:51:18.37 You know, we we when we visited with him and nice was there to 00:51:18.37\00:51:24.05 we prayed with him and he's like, you know what? When he 00:51:24.05\00:51:27.02 once he got House 3 months earlier, he started studies 00:51:27.02\00:51:29.95 Bible. Lot more starts putting devotions posting devotions on 00:51:29.95\00:51:33.69 Facebook and talking about how God has been good in and and 00:51:33.69\00:51:39.63 he's like, you know what? Before I go, I want to be 00:51:39.63\00:51:42.53 baptized. And so we brought pastor over and he was baptized 00:51:42.53\00:51:48.20 in the bathtub of that room. 00:51:48.20\00:51:50.21 And a week later, 00:51:50.21\00:51:53.48 he was moved to hospice a my wife and I went there right 00:51:53.48\00:51:57.58 when he got there. And we were spending some time with and, 00:51:57.58\00:52:00.28 you know, just prayed with an talked with him a bed and the 00:52:00.28\00:52:03.79 next day, the next morning, Palm Meadows PA minus turn. 00:52:03.79\00:52:06.96 So she went to go and visit with him and 00:52:06.96\00:52:10.23 he passed away while wall. She was holding his his hands o 00:52:10.23\00:52:14.83 and more. And so, you know, that happened near the 00:52:14.83\00:52:17.90 beginning of our of our growth, you know, stage. And it really 00:52:17.90\00:52:21.54 help to put in perspective, really set the tone for what 00:52:21.54\00:52:25.37 we're about to get into and just think about about if you 00:52:25.37\00:52:29.48 hadn't been there. You know, this is so for the Kingdom of 00:52:29.48\00:52:34.15 heaven, that's why we only have about 5 minutes for this. 00:52:34.15\00:52:38.35 Our the end of the and I'm really impressed that. 00:52:38.35\00:52:42.56 >> There's people here and we don't do this very often. 00:52:42.56\00:52:45.93 Those of you watch him do a few 1000 programs. We don't do 00:52:45.93\00:52:50.23 magath on that on the telethon. They don't do those things. 00:52:50.23\00:52:53.54 But there's sometimes those spare really impresses you. 00:52:53.54\00:52:56.64 And I really believe there are people who can give as much as 00:52:56.64\00:53:00.34 $1000 tonight. I know for a fact the if I can use this term 00:53:00.34\00:53:05.68 dollars, Ron and totally on faith right now and know right 00:53:05.68\00:53:09.62 now because what you do, organizations grown so much. 00:53:09.62\00:53:12.72 Yeah, yet you're reaching more and more people and what you're 00:53:12.72\00:53:16.39 doing is exactly what Jesus told us to do it right. And yet 00:53:16.39\00:53:20.06 you're willing to do it where some of the rest of us either 00:53:20.06\00:53:22.36 camp we're not able to, but we can help not only prayerfully 00:53:22.36\00:53:26.97 the financially, and I would love to say and we've got a 00:53:26.97\00:53:30.34 number. You can text if you own and just even Texas or you 00:53:30.34\00:53:33.74 don't have to text us and tell us here you can just go to the 00:53:33.74\00:53:37.38 website and I could put that up on the screen again for a vet. 00:53:37.38\00:53:41.78 And when you go to that, how he's is it to donate. Yeah, 00:53:41.78\00:53:46.12 it's really easy. They just score a little bit click and 00:53:46.12\00:53:49.09 they can go ahead and do it right there. 00:53:49.09\00:53:50.93 >> Yeah, I really think we have the potential here to raise a 00:53:50.93\00:53:54.36 few $100,000 tonight. Wow. So as people there are some 00:53:54.36\00:53:58.47 that I believe can give 1000 at least tonight. And so I feel 00:53:58.47\00:54:04.67 very hypocritical. A fight in Sabha do that myself. 00:54:04.67\00:54:08.44 >> And I already know my loving wife of the least that much, 00:54:08.44\00:54:11.38 Donna. Yes, yeah. And so we're making commitment to our south 00:54:11.38\00:54:17.39 tonight and my own to do that all the time and and to that 00:54:17.39\00:54:21.56 amount. But I would love to see 50 or 100 other people that I 00:54:21.56\00:54:25.46 know you're in a position that you can do that. If you think 00:54:25.46\00:54:28.93 about the whole year, how God has blessed you, you had a 00:54:28.93\00:54:32.70 beautiful home right now. Your drive, beautiful car. 00:54:32.70\00:54:35.10 You have all the food that you want you're able to do. You 00:54:35.10\00:54:39.31 mean 00:54:39.31\00:54:40.44 I was sitting here thinking about ourself. We don't make a 00:54:40.44\00:54:43.24 lot of ministry, but we have a home. We have a roof over. 00:54:43.24\00:54:47.02 It was raining this evening. And so here we are, what we're 00:54:47.02\00:54:51.09 in the shelter when and when not, you know, we have air 00:54:51.09\00:54:54.39 conditioning. And so we're able to do you know, God has blessed 00:54:54.39\00:54:58.96 us. And and you know it, we're in for an mean it to me to 00:54:58.96\00:55:03.50 think about people living right now and the United States of 00:55:03.50\00:55:07.77 America on the streets, a two-year on 73 to understand 00:55:07.77\00:55:12.81 what that would be. I mean, going homeless right now for 00:55:12.81\00:55:15.94 the first time. And how do you react how you respond to that? 00:55:15.94\00:55:20.25 Yeah, how do you do it? And yet there's some of you can give 00:55:20.25\00:55:23.42 500 some of you may just give $5. But if we get 1000 people 00:55:23.42\00:55:28.02 giving $5 at mount up. So I really want to ask you to think 00:55:28.02\00:55:32.79 about it. And this is a play that I may very rarely on here, 00:55:32.79\00:55:37.43 but I believe that we can do something right now. It's 00:55:37.43\00:55:41.30 making a difference in people's lives. And we're glad that this 00:55:41.30\00:55:46.01 pair Chile, but we also need to help people physically. There's 00:55:46.01\00:55:49.68 where it starts to go help these people, you see them 00:55:49.68\00:55:53.05 moving the transition, able to get them is in their lives come 00:55:53.05\00:55:57.29 first of all, just to know somebody cares. That's right. 00:55:57.29\00:56:00.62 That you care no here. Who cares about me. I'm on the 00:56:00.62\00:56:04.66 street. Somebody cares. And then somebody else as well. 00:56:04.66\00:56:07.76 Hey, these people help me and salt. Help me. And it goes on 00:56:07.76\00:56:11.70 and on is says thousands of, you know, menace a meme and 00:56:11.70\00:56:16.00 significant but showers. Yeah, do that every day. 00:56:16.00\00:56:20.44 Twice a day if we want to you can to at home. Most of you 00:56:20.44\00:56:23.45 watching right now, I know that I want you to really pray 00:56:23.45\00:56:27.92 because I know you could give something I want to keep. 00:56:27.92\00:56:30.45 It's on the screen right now. The Salt outreach Dot Org. 00:56:30.45\00:56:34.29 And I'm hoping and praying that you listen to the Holy Spirit 00:56:34.29\00:56:37.56 tonight and say, you know what, we're going to take a break in 00:56:37.56\00:56:40.33 just a moment and maybe want to do it right then. Maybe you 00:56:40.33\00:56:43.13 want to do it after the program. And not only that, 00:56:43.13\00:56:45.73 I'd like for you to go to your church and encourage your 00:56:45.73\00:56:48.84 church members. Talk to the pastor, talked to the owners a 00:56:48.84\00:56:52.34 day. Can somebody and say, look, there's an organization 00:56:52.34\00:56:55.41 and we need to help we need to do. This is spreading out and 00:56:55.41\00:56:59.18 the more you give, the more it can spread out to different 00:56:59.18\00:57:02.22 areas and different states. A lot for you while we're 00:57:02.22\00:57:06.09 taking. We're going take a break and come back and Jamie 00:57:06.09\00:57:08.69 is going to another song for us. But we want you to pray and 00:57:08.69\00:57:12.99 say a quick prayer Lord. I just pray right now you'll be 00:57:12.99\00:57:15.96 with each person watching this program, potentially millions 00:57:15.96\00:57:19.53 around the world for those that can and will that do go to the 00:57:19.53\00:57:23.41 website right now and make that donation to solve them? So we 00:57:23.41\00:57:28.18 just thank you, Lauren, for hearing answering prayers. 00:57:28.18\00:57:30.98 We're going to have to take a break here in just a moment. 00:57:30.98\00:57:34.05 But we want to thank you for what you do. It's not easy. 00:57:34.05\00:57:37.62 It's a great sacrifice. And thank you. I know your support. 00:57:37.62\00:57:42.59 >> Yourself. We have to take a break. We'll be back just a 00:57:42.59\00:57:45.36 moment. 00:57:45.36\00:57:46.46 [MUSIC] 00:57:46.46\00:57:51.43 [MUSIC] 00:57:51.43\00:57:56.44 [MUSIC] 00:57:56.44\00:58:11.52
