And so when 00:13:29.40\00:13:33.07 patients are referred to me for what we would call des Neon 00:13:33.07\00:13:35.48 exertion or shortness of breath when they do things, one of the 00:13:35.48\00:13:38.58 things that we do is to look at all at all of those things, 00:13:38.58\00:13:41.15 either by getting an echocardiogram to look at the 00:13:41.15\00:13:43.05 heart, but getting a pulmonary function tests. I think she 00:13:43.05\00:13:45.99 alluded to that there in terms of her lung function under her. 00:13:45.99\00:13:50.23 Her question was, is there anything that I can do to 00:13:50.23\00:13:52.46 improve my lung function? Yes, you know, lung function is 00:13:52.46\00:13:56.80 really a a result of static forces in in in your lungs and 00:13:56.80\00:14:02.44 the structure. So there's very little that you can do to 00:14:02.44\00:14:05.57 improve your lung function from it. From that standpoint, 00:14:05.57\00:14:09.81 I have heard of, by the way, some some interesting things 00:14:09.81\00:14:12.41 that people do, for instance, making sure that they breathe 00:14:12.41\00:14:14.85 through their nose or doing something called box breathing. 00:14:14.85\00:14:18.29 Have heard of that as well. This is where you breathe in 00:14:18.29\00:14:20.49 for 4 seconds. You hold it for 4 seconds. You exhale for 4 00:14:20.49\00:14:24.79 seconds and then you hold it out for 4 seconds. So it's like 00:14:24.79\00:14:27.30 a box home to go and and people. This is something 00:14:27.30\00:14:30.43 that's people talk about. I haven't seen a lot of data 00:14:30.43\00:14:33.20 actually seen that improve lung function. 00:14:33.20\00:14:36.57 So her question is, is there anything I can do? I don't know 00:14:36.57\00:14:39.34 of any data that actually shows that anything particular 00:14:39.34\00:14:41.38 improves lung function. But getting to I think the spirit 00:14:41.38\00:14:44.08 of her question, which is what's causing her to stand 00:14:44.08\00:14:46.61 exertion or shortness of breath, what she can do about 00:14:46.61\00:14:48.68 it. I think there's a number of tests that she should see a get 00:14:48.68\00:14:52.39 done from her specials to see exactly where that areas. 00:14:52.39\00:14:55.69 And then at the end of all of that, there's a sting that we 00:14:55.69\00:14:58.06 call cardiopulmonary exercise testing before we do a lot of 00:14:58.06\00:15:01.13 invasive measures and actually can tell you, diagnostic Lee, 00:15:01.13\00:15:04.40 this is your heart that's giving out. Is it your lungs 00:15:04.40\00:15:06.53 that are giving out or is it your muscles that are giving 00:15:06.53\00:15:08.64 out? And we can actually give you the answer and that kind of 00:15:08.64\00:15:11.31 stuff that's been around that is out of that green roof, 00:15:11.31\00:15:13.71 is it that helps that helps open up the lungs and make sure 00:15:13.71\00:15:16.34 that, you know, get collapse in certain areas along? But, yeah, it's something that's very important 00:15:19.31\00:15:23.52 for patients in the hospital because sometimes they don't 00:15:23.52\00:15:26.96 take deep breaths and or they have pain.
