Special guest family member really tonight is 00:00:15.88\00:00:20.35 Antoinette. 48. She is the principle of keeping doula 00:00:20.35\00:00:24.42 agricultural training center, which is one of their schools 00:00:24.42\00:00:29.22 there at capable of farms. And we've been talking tonight 00:00:29.22\00:00:33.43 about I am not qualified woman in leadership. This program is 00:00:33.43\00:00:39.80 for woman who, you know, and I believe that every woman is a 00:00:39.80\00:00:44.37 leader. You don't have to be the leader of a corporation or 00:00:44.37\00:00:47.64 company. You don't have to be a principal. I'm at a school 00:00:47.64\00:00:51.21 where leaders in our home with our children or mentoring 00:00:51.21\00:00:55.42 younger woman in the church or in the community. So so many 00:00:55.42\00:01:00.49 aspects, so many spheres of influence and really a leader 00:01:00.49\00:01:03.93 is just someone with influence with other people in. So we're 00:01:03.93\00:01:07.60 talking about 00:01:07.60\00:01:09.10 what that journey has looks like in antoinette's life and 00:01:09.10\00:01:12.77 what that journey can look like in your life and in my life. 00:01:12.77\00:01:16.04 And if you're a man, 00:01:16.04\00:01:18.84 God gives you influence to in God calls you to leadership, 00:01:18.84\00:01:22.41 that might not look the same as the journey we're talking about 00:01:22.41\00:01:25.18 tonight. But I think the principles we're talking about 00:01:25.18\00:01:28.18 our biblical principles that we can chair and that we can in 00:01:28.18\00:01:32.09 cocaine and use and growing it. 00:01:32.09\00:01:34.92 So let's talk about we have some more stories and more 00:01:34.92\00:01:38.66 things coming up. But let's talk about that preparation for 00:01:38.66\00:01:42.36 leadership. 00:01:42.36\00:01:43.70 I'm thinking back. I don't know what you would share, but you 00:01:43.70\00:01:46.23 shared at the beginning a little bit of your testimony on 00:01:46.23\00:01:49.64 that call of God on your life at the age of 19, almost like 00:01:49.64\00:01:52.87 Abraham going out that called emissions service. So there was 00:01:52.87\00:01:56.54 that surrender. All of that in your childhood was preparation 00:01:56.54\00:01:59.28 for what you do today. But let's talk about some more of 00:01:59.28\00:02:02.15 that and what was your preparation for what you do? 00:02:02.15\00:02:05.59 >> Yeah, it's interesting when you look back and you realize 00:02:05.59\00:02:08.22 like, wow, even the bullying at school has had a small part in 00:02:08.22\00:02:12.03 making me who I am today 00:02:12.03\00:02:14.30 to not run away so quickly when that happens again or 00:02:14.30\00:02:19.17 I'm like I said, you know, I think it's a personal walk with 00:02:19.17\00:02:22.34 the Lord. He's given us different personalities. 00:02:22.34\00:02:24.97 And like you said, we are leaders in different spheres. 00:02:24.97\00:02:28.34 But when it comes to leadership of a group of people, 00:02:28.34\00:02:31.15 especially cross culturally, for sure, there are certain 00:02:31.15\00:02:34.35 personalities that would do better in that position and 00:02:34.35\00:02:36.89 others. So I did a personality test that was quite 00:02:36.89\00:02:40.12 professional and comprehensive a few years ago. 00:02:40.12\00:02:43.73 And it was actually discouraging to me because I 00:02:43.73\00:02:46.76 scored on the opposite ends of where I was supposed to be for 00:02:46.76\00:02:50.17 someone who's in leadership and I am. 00:02:50.17\00:02:53.03 >> And I was like the Lord. What are you doing? 00:02:53.03\00:02:56.14 >> But it's interesting. It's the same for my husband 00:02:56.14\00:02:58.34 and his leadership role. He's director of the mission, 00:02:58.34\00:03:01.01 but he's also CEO of our export company for avocados. 00:03:01.01\00:03:05.21 And his scores also indicated that he would much rather 00:03:05.21\00:03:08.25 thrive on a tractor doing the actual farm work, then lead a 00:03:08.25\00:03:11.85 team. 00:03:11.85\00:03:13.05 So what do you do when you are not fitting all the stereotypes 00:03:13.05\00:03:18.43 or the specifications needed for leadership? And that's 00:03:18.43\00:03:20.96 again, when you need to let go and trust in the Lord. And I 00:03:20.96\00:03:24.00 think personal preparation is that day to day sitting at the 00:03:24.00\00:03:27.07 feet of Jesus, because that is what helps prepares us. 00:03:27.07\00:03:31.64 So 00:03:31.64\00:03:32.94 I want to reach out to young ladies, ladies who are at home 00:03:32.94\00:03:36.88 raising children. 00:03:36.88\00:03:38.71 You may feel like I did. That's what I'm doing is not as 00:03:38.71\00:03:43.05 important as what my husband is doing 00:03:43.05\00:03:45.25 and it's not about importance. And I don't think there's room 00:03:45.25\00:03:47.86 for competition in the Marriott. It's not healthy. 00:03:47.86\00:03:51.06 But I think ladies can be tempted to feel like what 00:03:51.06\00:03:53.86 they're doing is not notice. It's not appreciated everything 00:03:53.86\00:03:56.63 they could that in the days. And and by the time the husband 00:03:56.63\00:03:59.23 comes back home in the evening. 00:03:59.23\00:04:01.60 Well, the husband is out there may be doing ministry or were 00:04:01.60\00:04:04.37 feeling productive, feeling fulfilled. 00:04:04.37\00:04:07.58 And I remember struggling with that. Also as a young woman in 00:04:07.58\00:04:10.41 the mission failed. 00:04:10.41\00:04:11.85 But I always would go back to the word. I always go back to 00:04:11.85\00:04:15.05 the spirit of prophecy, which was a great comfort in my heart 00:04:15.05\00:04:18.09 because the lawyer has a lot to say to young woman that being 00:04:18.09\00:04:22.09 at home at that phase that season of your life raising 00:04:22.09\00:04:25.69 your little children to love and serve. An allergy says that 00:04:25.69\00:04:30.40 work. Is this exalted us the work of the king on his throne 00:04:30.40\00:04:33.57 as the work of Gabriel by the side of Jesus, Ellen White's s 00:04:33.57\00:04:37.41 and that always comforted me that when I'm doing the dishes, 00:04:37.41\00:04:40.51 cooking another meal or running to make another deadline so 00:04:40.51\00:04:44.31 that people can be comfortable. 00:04:44.31\00:04:46.48 All of that service costing us something to ourselves is what 00:04:46.48\00:04:50.49 prepares us for leadership that came from Elaine, turn my life. 00:04:50.49\00:04:53.96 So don't think that these little things are not valuable, 00:04:53.96\00:04:56.86 that they're not notice the Lord notices. And if there's a 00:04:56.86\00:04:59.49 has been listening to me this evening, 00:04:59.49\00:05:01.80 the big biggest thing you can do to keep your life and 00:05:01.80\00:05:04.17 courage just to encourage her to appreciate what she's doing. 00:05:04.17\00:05:09.67 Tell her how much she need her because I believe spend 00:05:09.67\00:05:14.58 receives his motivation, his strength to leave the home 00:05:14.58\00:05:18.85 every day to go. A minister when the home is peaceful in 00:05:18.85\00:05:22.32 the home is happy when the home a strong. And so ladies, 00:05:22.32\00:05:25.72 don't underestimate what you're doing for the Lord in your home 00:05:25.72\00:05:30.56 at this season in your life because God is preparing you 00:05:30.56\00:05:33.73 not just for what you need to do now, but he's preparing your 00:05:33.73\00:05:35.86 children and you can never come to the end of your life and 00:05:35.86\00:05:38.77 say, Lord, I didn't do anything for you if your children are 00:05:38.77\00:05:41.90 loving the Lord and maybe serving him. 00:05:41.90\00:05:45.37 >> That's beautiful. Thank you so much for that. I put down 00:05:45.37\00:05:48.48 spend time in the works and do what is right in front of you. 00:05:48.48\00:05:53.25 What other people might seem is an important or sometimes even 00:05:53.25\00:05:56.82 we ourselves look at that all this is an important. 00:05:56.82\00:06:00.16 But yet God sees that and God knows it's an important love 00:06:00.16\00:06:04.49 that that's beautiful. You referenced there's no room for 00:06:04.49\00:06:07.50 competition in a marriage and that role. Let's talk a little 00:06:07.50\00:06:11.73 bit about working together in marriage in in leadership 00:06:11.73\00:06:15.70 because your husband is a leader overall leader of Cuba 00:06:15.70\00:06:19.87 to farms while your leader of the agriculture training, 00:06:19.87\00:06:23.18 if I have that right, so you're working together. So this is 00:06:23.18\00:06:27.25 you came before, of course, your mom and your wife and 00:06:27.25\00:06:31.92 your. He's head of the household. But now you're 00:06:31.92\00:06:34.59 working together is Co labor's co-workers. So talk to us about 00:06:34.59\00:06:38.83 that journey. 00:06:38.83\00:06:40.06 >> Yes, that's been a little bit tough to be honest with 00:06:40.06\00:06:42.60 you, because I am naturally more passionate time, more 00:06:42.60\00:06:45.40 outspoken and opinionated. And he know when we have our 00:06:45.40\00:06:48.94 personal conversations at home, he understands and we can just 00:06:48.94\00:06:53.81 talk openly. But when we're in a committee meeting together, 00:06:53.81\00:06:57.11 you know, I'm not just his wife anymore, but I'm now his his 00:06:57.11\00:07:00.65 colleague and I run large, busy department and I have my 00:07:00.65\00:07:05.02 opinions. I have my and so to rein myself. And I don't think 00:07:05.02\00:07:09.22 I well, it was a struggle. Do rein myself in completely 00:07:09.22\00:07:12.99 not have an opinion so he can still be the head or 00:07:12.99\00:07:17.37 Kim. The Lord help me to not be so strong that I am undermining 00:07:17.37\00:07:21.84 him or maybe disrespecting him in public. 00:07:21.84\00:07:24.94 So it's a balance. And again, it comes with experience. 00:07:24.94\00:07:29.14 She get to know and talk to each other, but also pray about 00:07:29.14\00:07:32.21 it. The Lord is teaching and he does healthy it to sense the 00:07:32.21\00:07:36.42 mood sense to what you could should and how you should say 00:07:36.42\00:07:39.59 it. 00:07:39.59\00:07:41.32 But it's very interesting. And so I think it's very 00:07:41.32\00:07:43.43 important that couples realize when they're working together 00:07:43.43\00:07:45.93 side by side that they are a team, they're not in 00:07:45.93\00:07:48.73 competition with each other and you don't have to force their 00:07:48.73\00:07:52.07 will on the other person. When you can 00:07:52.07\00:07:55.40 hear each other 00:07:55.40\00:07:57.04 and be willing to say I'm sorry as well when you have 00:07:57.04\00:08:00.21 overstepped that boundary and I think it goes a long ways to 00:08:00.21\00:08:03.38 healthy to reconcile and to be stronger together. Yeah, 00:08:03.38\00:08:07.88 not everyone is in a position where we work side by side with 00:08:07.88\00:08:10.85 her husband. But if you are, they can be joyful. But yeah, 00:08:10.85\00:08:15.66 there are things we need to be aware of. 00:08:15.66\00:08:18.26 >> He's a personal question because Greg and I have that 00:08:18.26\00:08:21.50 precious experience for we get that were married, of course, 00:08:21.50\00:08:24.30 has been a wife. But we work together. We're in a lot of the 00:08:24.30\00:08:27.27 same meetings. We come together when making decisions. And so 00:08:27.27\00:08:32.44 there's that I'm learning how to do that process. It totally 00:08:32.44\00:08:36.51 understand that. And actually here at reviewed, we have a lot 00:08:36.51\00:08:39.21 of families. So we have a lot of husbands and wives who 00:08:39.21\00:08:42.78 worked together in ministry, sometimes in the same 00:08:42.78\00:08:45.42 department many times in different departments, but 00:08:45.42\00:08:47.99 still working together, which is I think the privilege of 00:08:47.99\00:08:52.79 being able to do ministry with your best friend is just 00:08:52.79\00:08:55.20 amazing. But yet, as he said, there's times where we have to 00:08:55.20\00:08:58.67 ask forgiveness or learn how to navigate that one question I 00:08:58.67\00:09:02.30 would have is 00:09:02.30\00:09:03.44 how do you or maybe you don't? I don't know. How do you do 00:09:03.44\00:09:07.54 with taking ministry home? 00:09:07.54\00:09:10.45 In other words, you and your husband both do ministry all 00:09:10.45\00:09:12.91 day at work. But then your bringing that or maybe you 00:09:12.91\00:09:16.55 don't do bring that home like they have a burden network or 00:09:16.55\00:09:21.12 something you're dealing with now, you're going to bed and 00:09:21.12\00:09:23.79 are you still carrying the same burdens or how do you handle 00:09:23.79\00:09:26.23 that? Because it's like you never get away from that. 00:09:26.23\00:09:28.56 It's at work and it's a home. 00:09:28.56\00:09:30.47 >> And I think that's a very unique challenge that we do 00:09:30.47\00:09:32.80 have when our ministry, 00:09:32.80\00:09:35.27 we do have a 95 job. Our ministry is our life. And so it 00:09:35.27\00:09:39.64 becomes very difficult to have those boundaries. And I think 00:09:39.64\00:09:43.88 precious ministries like restoration international that 00:09:43.88\00:09:46.68 teach couples how to half that us time and think about us, 00:09:46.68\00:09:50.49 not me or you. I think it's very valuable. 00:09:50.49\00:09:54.66 But now it's true. We do carry that so much with us. And when 00:09:54.66\00:09:58.26 we're home, we talk a lot. I'm when I'm at home. I share 00:09:58.26\00:10:01.93 with the girls Santa. What's been happening in my daily use. 00:10:01.93\00:10:05.17 Examples of what's happening at the school is learning 00:10:05.17\00:10:07.60 opportunities for them as well to pro since with mom and that. 00:10:07.60\00:10:11.54 So our children learn from us how we deal with things and 00:10:11.54\00:10:15.71 things that are private. It's, you know, my husband and 00:10:15.71\00:10:17.71 I will talk to ourselves. But then, yes, we do need to 00:10:17.71\00:10:20.68 learn to put some things away and say, you know what, we have 00:10:20.68\00:10:24.42 to now put that to the side a little bit and focus on just 00:10:24.42\00:10:27.36 being a family and it's going to be different for families to 00:10:27.36\00:10:30.36 families are different. 00:10:30.36\00:10:32.03 But now I hear what you're saying. It's windy. Leave 00:10:32.03\00:10:34.86 ministry behind. What's your identity is? It's always just 00:10:34.86\00:10:39.13 Jason Antoinette, 00:10:39.13\00:10:40.94 key dual out or is there a time when we can put that to the 00:10:40.94\00:10:43.71 side a little bit and just focus on just being a family 00:10:43.71\00:10:46.61 man and taught you mention the word identity. Let's talk about 00:10:46.61\00:10:49.94 identity. How do you find your identity as a woman as a 00:10:49.94\00:10:53.88 leader? 00:10:53.88\00:10:55.05 I've struggled with that through the years because I 00:10:55.05\00:10:57.42 left between worlds and I serve with its that mean I serve the 00:10:57.42\00:11:02.06 poorest of the poor. But I also have the very wealthy come to 00:11:02.06\00:11:05.66 my home. 00:11:05.66\00:11:06.76 And so, you know, who am I 00:11:06.76\00:11:11.27 when I come to the very poor, you know, I can look like a 00:11:11.27\00:11:15.10 very wealthy because comparatively, I am very 00:11:15.10\00:11:18.74 wealthy. Well to do like it looks like I don't have any 00:11:18.74\00:11:22.51 needs. Life is easy. How do I relate to that person and give 00:11:22.51\00:11:26.51 them hope that what I'm going through the large, his faithful 00:11:26.51\00:11:30.82 to me is faithful to them as well. 00:11:30.82\00:11:33.29 But then I have the very rich come to my home as well. 00:11:33.29\00:11:36.52 And I struggle to relate to them because I don't know what 00:11:36.52\00:11:40.06 shopping in Dubai is like. And how can God use a little 00:11:40.06\00:11:44.20 humble me and my little home to minister to them. So it can be 00:11:44.20\00:11:48.27 a struggle sometimes to know who am I had to a fit and how 00:11:48.27\00:11:51.77 to address how do I do my hair? How do I relate to both worlds 00:11:51.77\00:11:55.31 where I'm not overdone or underdone? But I think when the 00:11:55.31\00:11:58.75 focus is a little bit less on our south and on Jesus, yeah, 00:11:58.75\00:12:03.02 I think we can be free to be who he's making us to be 00:12:03.02\00:12:06.82 without feeling like I have to conform to look a certain way 00:12:06.82\00:12:10.16 in this situation and look a certain Winona the situation 00:12:10.16\00:12:13.46 because then we kind of have a split identity and I don't 00:12:13.46\00:12:15.90 think that's healthy at all. 00:12:15.90\00:12:17.67 Another thing I think that complicates things is social 00:12:17.67\00:12:20.37 media. 00:12:20.37\00:12:21.67 I would like to speak about that a little bit. They cause 00:12:21.67\00:12:24.67 there's so much pressure today on young ladies, especially to 00:12:24.67\00:12:27.94 look a certain way to live a certain lifestyle. And I think 00:12:27.94\00:12:32.51 we need to be free in Jesus Christ to pursue. He has made 00:12:32.51\00:12:36.15 us to be to fulfill the goals that he has for us. Social 00:12:36.15\00:12:40.79 media is a blessing, especially in the important mission Field 00:12:40.79\00:12:44.23 where you can stay in touch with friends and family. 00:12:44.23\00:12:46.93 But I'm I'm a little bit concerned when I realized how 00:12:46.93\00:12:49.90 much time people spend on their devices 00:12:49.90\00:12:53.17 and when a young woman, especially is just infused 00:12:53.17\00:12:56.57 constantly with what to expect patients are, and it may not be 00:12:56.57\00:13:01.78 exactly what he says is expecting a fire and there's 00:13:01.78\00:13:04.28 going to be a tremendous battle. 00:13:04.28\00:13:06.35 And I made a decision early on in my married life to step away 00:13:06.35\00:13:10.22 from social media. In the beginning, it was Facebook and 00:13:10.22\00:13:13.32 I'm not saying we have to give up on social media. But for me 00:13:13.32\00:13:16.19 in my situation, especially when I went through periods of 00:13:16.19\00:13:19.09 loneliness with one click, I could be connected and I could 00:13:19.09\00:13:23.03 see what everyone is doing all the time. And I was spending so 00:13:23.03\00:13:25.77 much time on Facebook that it was taking away from my home 00:13:25.77\00:13:28.70 from my ministry. And I had to make a decision to stop and 00:13:28.70\00:13:31.87 step away from that. And I'm not sorry I did because that 00:13:31.87\00:13:34.98 freed me up to start looking around the world that's around 00:13:34.98\00:13:38.48 me to observe, to learn and to be available and we were not 00:13:38.48\00:13:42.52 available. It becomes difficult to minister 00:13:42.52\00:13:47.36 so identity. Who am I 00:13:47.36\00:13:51.33 loved by my creator. I was given a future and I hope I'm 00:13:51.33\00:13:55.73 not perfect. I make mistakes. But he has given me a beautiful 00:13:55.73\00:13:59.87 life. It's not free of trial or difficulties. But and look at 00:13:59.87\00:14:05.14 my children. I look at my husband. I look at the little 00:14:05.14\00:14:08.28 girl that I was able to close and feed and they left and is 00:14:08.28\00:14:13.25 under a tarp. 00:14:13.25\00:14:14.88 They do have a home. 00:14:14.88\00:14:16.69 I have never had joy like I did that day when I went to shop 00:14:16.69\00:14:19.79 for her things that I you know, it never pay money for for my 00:14:19.79\00:14:23.63 own children. At that moment, it was my greatest joy to buy 00:14:23.63\00:14:26.63 that little pair foods for that little girl. 00:14:26.63\00:14:30.23 And when I put it on her feet, she was so happy and she ran to 00:14:30.23\00:14:33.44 show her mom. 00:14:33.44\00:14:35.30 And so just being available to see the little things. I think 00:14:35.30\00:14:39.17 we need to be careful. Social media can. Rob us of that? 00:14:39.17\00:14:44.08 You mentioned 00:14:44.08\00:14:47.05 perspective. I don't know if that was the word used, but 00:14:47.05\00:14:52.12 >> so many people have an outside perspective of who we 00:14:52.12\00:14:56.36 are. So if we get our identity from Jesus, right, that's where 00:14:56.36\00:15:00.13 we get our identity. Go back to the word of God. 00:15:00.13\00:15:04.13 The word says who you are in Christ and if we get that in 00:15:04.13\00:15:07.17 him, not social media, not these other areas, 00:15:07.17\00:15:10.91 but oftentimes we might seek validation from 00:15:10.91\00:15:16.64 it depends on your position. Maybe you've seen foundation 00:15:16.64\00:15:19.61 from the board of directors. Few answer to that more you 00:15:19.61\00:15:22.32 seek validation from your boss or a validation from the pastor 00:15:22.32\00:15:26.25 of the church or even validation from your friends or 00:15:26.25\00:15:30.93 acquaintances. 00:15:30.93\00:15:34.00 How do we 00:15:34.00\00:15:36.43 pull away from that external validation and just to tease us 00:15:36.43\00:15:40.27 for validation? And is there a place maybe that we do need 00:15:40.27\00:15:43.94 external validation? 00:15:43.94\00:15:45.87 >> I think is leaders. That's one thing we have to learn as 00:15:45.87\00:15:48.71 our staff. Our team needs validation. They need 00:15:48.71\00:15:51.61 appreciation because your team without you remembering their 00:15:51.61\00:15:55.95 contribution, they burn out on you pretty quickly. 00:15:55.95\00:15:59.32 Validation is very important to know that we are still needed, 00:15:59.32\00:16:02.86 that we are still contributing. But if it doesn't come, then 00:16:02.86\00:16:07.50 are we just going to give up? Are we just going to walk away 00:16:07.50\00:16:10.13 from what the Lord is asking us to do? 00:16:10.13\00:16:13.00 So I would say Martin Luther is an example who stood without 00:16:13.00\00:16:17.11 validation before world of leaders Kings potentates. 00:16:17.11\00:16:22.71 And in that moment, the only validation that he had was the 00:16:22.71\00:16:25.95 word was Christ was the holy spirit and he was able to stand 00:16:25.95\00:16:30.09 through the strength that Christ gave him in that moment 00:16:30.09\00:16:32.29 when he had to stand alone. And I think sometimes it's 00:16:32.29\00:16:34.42 leaders, leadership is a little bit of a lonely position. 00:16:34.42\00:16:37.63 It is. 00:16:37.63\00:16:38.89 There's not a lot of people that share that responsibility 00:16:38.89\00:16:43.73 where the buck stops, if I can put it like that. So while 00:16:43.73\00:16:47.34 leadership is a privilege and it has advantages that come 00:16:47.34\00:16:50.87 with that of a broader horizon for more opportunities, 00:16:50.87\00:16:55.44 leadership is also a lonely position and so validation 00:16:55.44\00:17:00.42 while it is important to cannot be the thing that motivates you 00:17:00.42\00:17:03.55 cannot be the thing that you depend on. 00:17:03.55\00:17:05.99 Because when it's not there, then why'd he do? 00:17:05.99\00:17:10.59 >> No, that's so important. Remember when Greg and I 00:17:10.59\00:17:12.89 stepped into the leadership, someone in a us I came up and 00:17:12.89\00:17:16.43 said, 00:17:16.43\00:17:17.57 I'm sorry, and I thought that's not what you normally say. 00:17:17.57\00:17:20.54 You would say, well, I'm praying for you or 00:17:20.54\00:17:22.50 congratulations or something, right. And they said and then 00:17:22.50\00:17:25.47 they quantified it and they said you're going to find it's 00:17:25.47\00:17:28.41 very lonely. And I thought, what are they talking about? 00:17:28.41\00:17:31.41 You know, we still work with the same people. What a 00:17:31.41\00:17:33.42 tremendous privilege and a blessing to be part of a teen 00:17:33.42\00:17:36.55 to be sharing the gospel. But leadership can be lonely. 00:17:36.55\00:17:40.79 Can see not able to share all that as you mentioned. 00:17:40.79\00:17:43.16 Absolutely. I love what you said. I wrote down, give 00:17:43.16\00:17:46.76 validation, 00:17:46.76\00:17:48.70 but don't expect it 00:17:48.70\00:17:51.80 like Martin Luther being willing to able to stand for 00:17:51.80\00:17:54.77 principle. So let's talk for just a moment. Couple more 00:17:54.77\00:17:59.91 stories, maybe thinking of you daughter. We've been talking 00:17:59.91\00:18:02.98 about your family and time when she was really sick. Can this 00:18:02.98\00:18:07.05 Gehring us up for that being in a foreign country that place 00:18:07.05\00:18:11.32 where you can get the help that you would expect maybe here in 00:18:11.32\00:18:14.46 states? 00:18:14.46\00:18:16.16 >> So again, you know, we're all so different and we all 00:18:16.16\00:18:19.83 have different walks to friend levels of ability and 00:18:19.83\00:18:23.70 advantages and opportunities. 00:18:23.70\00:18:26.33 So for us as a family, we have not had medical insurance just 00:18:26.33\00:18:31.61 because we have not really received a salary and all these 00:18:31.61\00:18:34.48 years of ministry. So medical insurance is not something that 00:18:34.48\00:18:37.61 we can afford. 00:18:37.61\00:18:39.11 And so I remember working in early years with other families 00:18:39.11\00:18:43.49 who could afford it and would insist on it. And I just made a 00:18:43.49\00:18:47.62 decision early on in my life that if the Lord is asking you 00:18:47.62\00:18:50.73 to do something in these blessing, you and your able 00:18:50.73\00:18:53.03 then use your common sense and do it. But if you can, 00:18:53.03\00:18:56.46 the Lord is not going to forsake you. And so that became 00:18:56.46\00:18:59.90 very personal to me. When my daughter started experiencing 00:18:59.90\00:19:03.00 anaphylactic shock, she's very allergic to bee stings. And 00:19:03.00\00:19:08.98 for us living on a farm in Africa, there's a lot of bees 00:19:08.98\00:19:12.25 and they love our home. So every year we have an invasion 00:19:12.25\00:19:15.68 where we can really move around in the home because they're 00:19:15.68\00:19:18.39 everywhere in the windows, on the floor, on the big hits, 00:19:18.39\00:19:21.32 on the carpets everywhere. 00:19:21.32\00:19:23.22 And so we have to wait until evening time until they settle 00:19:23.22\00:19:25.93 down and calm down, then we can start removing them. 00:19:25.93\00:19:29.40 So we have never dealt with anything like it where not 00:19:29.40\00:19:34.17 medically trained. 00:19:34.17\00:19:35.97 So when she was stung a few years ago, the first time and 00:19:35.97\00:19:39.67 she had a reaction, 00:19:39.67\00:19:41.51 I could see it was going bad really quickly. She was 00:19:41.51\00:19:46.25 completely swollen up with hives everywhere getting 00:19:46.25\00:19:49.25 uncontrollably. Her nose was completely swollen, shot. 00:19:49.25\00:19:52.79 Her 8 years are big, like cabbages. All eyes were social, 00:19:52.79\00:19:56.49 swollen shut. 00:19:56.49\00:19:57.93 All we had was a few little antihistamine tablets and a 00:19:57.93\00:20:01.83 little bit of expired. Benadryl, I'm Sarah. 00:20:01.83\00:20:07.94 The lawyer pulled or through. He kept her throat open all 00:20:07.94\00:20:11.27 night week after drinking and sipping water must have been 00:20:11.27\00:20:15.64 terrifying as a mom and we had concerned family on the other 00:20:15.64\00:20:20.08 side coaching us. They are medically trained, but they're 00:20:20.08\00:20:22.88 on the other side of the world and they're like, why are you 00:20:22.88\00:20:25.05 not on the way to the hospital 00:20:25.05\00:20:27.76 and how do we explain to them how far the hospital is and 00:20:27.76\00:20:31.23 what inadequate care there can sometimes be in the small 00:20:31.23\00:20:34.30 settings. 00:20:34.30\00:20:36.10 And so you risk being looked at as an irresponsible parents 00:20:36.10\00:20:40.64 and some of these things. He can't explain to people. 00:20:40.64\00:20:43.10 But, you know, this is a situation that you're in right 00:20:43.10\00:20:45.44 now and all you can do is cry out to God to help you. And he 00:20:45.44\00:20:48.68 did. He pull her through. And I'm very thankful for a 00:20:48.68\00:20:50.98 very loving friends and family who supplied it immediately 00:20:50.98\00:20:54.02 with epi pens and at the net friend and IV bags and things 00:20:54.02\00:20:58.42 and 3 years managed to go by and she was fine. She was 00:20:58.42\00:21:02.09 careful, but he was fine. 00:21:02.09\00:21:03.99 And then just a few short weeks ago, she was stunned again in 00:21:03.99\00:21:06.93 the kitchen while she was making lunch for us on her 00:21:06.93\00:21:09.36 chest. 00:21:09.36\00:21:10.67 And the same thing happened except this time it was horse 00:21:10.67\00:21:14.30 and 00:21:14.30\00:21:15.70 the first at the Pan Shot didn't do much. And we had to 00:21:15.70\00:21:18.51 follow up with the second one. When she fainted in 00:21:18.51\00:21:21.64 her blood pressure was dropping very fast and 00:21:21.64\00:21:25.51 we tried inserting IVs, but the needles were to begin her 00:21:25.51\00:21:29.12 little things that constricted 00:21:29.12\00:21:31.02 very thankful for caring neighbors who are there on 00:21:31.02\00:21:33.82 monitoring her oxygen. And 00:21:33.82\00:21:36.79 and I remember this crying out to the Lord and and that moment 00:21:36.79\00:21:42.63 you are tempted 00:21:42.63\00:21:44.67 to question the Lord. Yeah. Why? Why do I have to be here? 00:21:44.67\00:21:50.41 Why this house that the bees love so much? What if I lose 00:21:50.41\00:21:54.68 her? What will I do 00:21:54.68\00:21:57.35 now? I know that the Lord is good and he did pull her 00:21:57.35\00:22:01.88 through life. Pace him for that. 00:22:01.88\00:22:04.25 But they are missionary friends that half lost children. 00:22:04.25\00:22:08.29 Yeah, to malaria. 00:22:08.29\00:22:10.53 Accidents 00:22:10.53\00:22:12.73 is got still as good as he was before that happened. Is he 00:22:12.73\00:22:16.56 still compassionate? 00:22:16.56\00:22:19.53 And I think they will answer us today and say, you know what, 00:22:19.53\00:22:23.34 it was the hardest thing, the most tragic thing that we've 00:22:23.34\00:22:25.71 ever had to go through. But we know our God. We know he is as 00:22:25.71\00:22:29.81 good today as he was before that. 00:22:29.81\00:22:32.61 And so we did 00:22:32.61\00:22:35.15 see how she pulled through got saved her again. But the 00:22:35.15\00:22:38.55 temptations that come to me in that moment, Laura, can't we 00:22:38.55\00:22:41.02 just go somewhere where my child can be safe? Fun. 00:22:41.02\00:22:44.59 And so here's a challenge to people as well, especially in 00:22:44.59\00:22:47.96 foreign said things is you do whatever you can. We have 00:22:47.96\00:22:51.63 screens in front of the windows. The we tried to steal 00:22:51.63\00:22:54.77 the old Rufus much as we can. 00:22:54.77\00:22:57.51 But when would would do it? Do you do 00:22:57.51\00:22:59.91 when you don't have 00:22:59.91\00:23:02.28 the facility is closed by for the help that you need 00:23:02.28\00:23:06.05 you? Do you walk away from the mission 00:23:06.05\00:23:08.68 or do you continue? And we have chosen to continue and I cannot 00:23:08.68\00:23:12.59 tell anyone what to do. It's between them and God. And it's 00:23:12.59\00:23:15.62 very personal, but I can testify that God is faithful 00:23:15.62\00:23:19.53 and that he is helping us. 00:23:19.53\00:23:21.66 And I pray that I will still be faithful. Should something more 00:23:21.66\00:23:24.93 serious happened later on? And I I don't want to try and 00:23:24.93\00:23:27.77 predict anything because God doesn't deal with us like our 00:23:27.77\00:23:30.74 fears deal with us. We try him for office. I things but God 00:23:30.74\00:23:34.44 doesn't work like that. And so I just pray that God king, 00:23:34.44\00:23:38.15 help us learn from these past experiences to build our faith 00:23:38.15\00:23:40.98 for the future. That's powerful testimony. 00:23:40.98\00:23:44.32 >> I know you said that you can't tell other people clearly 00:23:44.32\00:23:48.59 because everyone has to pray each family with them and God. 00:23:48.59\00:23:52.13 But how if you can share any of the things that lead you in 00:23:52.13\00:23:56.03 your family took the decision? Yes, we want to say here, 00:23:56.03\00:23:58.77 yes, even though there is a risk and would do everything we 00:23:58.77\00:24:01.34 can to protect like you through the screens and on the windows 00:24:01.34\00:24:04.47 and other things. But how did you know, I guess in your heart 00:24:04.47\00:24:08.28 it was the right decision for your family to stay. 00:24:08.28\00:24:11.48 >> So early on in my life when I have been praying to be used 00:24:11.48\00:24:15.65 by God, God didn't answer me right away. 00:24:15.65\00:24:19.25 And I think got often works like that. He's not going to 00:24:19.25\00:24:21.72 tell you ahead of time at a certain time. I want you to go 00:24:21.72\00:24:25.03 here and I want you to do this kind of work. 00:24:25.03\00:24:27.76 God usually comes through at the last minute, any open some 00:24:27.76\00:24:32.03 very specific door for you to walk through. And I think 00:24:32.03\00:24:34.77 there's a purpose for that. 00:24:34.77\00:24:36.60 That is so that, you know, you did not fabricate this 00:24:36.60\00:24:39.51 yourself. 00:24:39.51\00:24:41.24 God did. And this is where God wants you to be so that when 00:24:41.24\00:24:44.65 those tough times come, you are reminded, oh, I didn't put 00:24:44.65\00:24:48.52 myself here. God brought me here, got cut me this calling. 00:24:48.52\00:24:52.95 And the word tells us that he takes responsibility for that. 00:24:52.95\00:24:55.82 Cost them a proper safety for our 00:24:55.82\00:24:58.53 while being to provide for our needs. 00:24:58.53\00:25:01.63 The kids into everyone's experience comes those tough 00:25:01.63\00:25:04.27 times when you I down and you are maybe feeling burnt out and 00:25:04.27\00:25:08.64 then they thought, OK, God brought me here 00:25:08.64\00:25:12.24 and he has since entered the placement. 00:25:12.24\00:25:15.31 Do I just walk away and the work and potentially suffer 00:25:15.31\00:25:19.41 or am I going to be faithful in my post? But I'm going to 00:25:19.41\00:25:22.12 humble myself. I'm going to take time to pray harder than I 00:25:22.12\00:25:25.52 prayed before. And my experience has been. He pulls 00:25:25.52\00:25:29.09 you out of that again. 00:25:29.09\00:25:30.99 You don't stay in that valley. You come out and you come out 00:25:30.99\00:25:34.10 stronger because you learn things. 00:25:34.10\00:25:36.87 And you've learned, especially that he's faithful. I believe 00:25:36.87\00:25:40.94 that if God wants you to move on, 00:25:40.94\00:25:43.57 Callaway says that 00:25:43.57\00:25:45.11 if got sees that for your personal growth, it's time for 00:25:45.11\00:25:48.31 you to move on. He will set things to start happening to 00:25:48.31\00:25:51.88 release you and to move you on. And I think that's very 00:25:51.88\00:25:54.92 important that we stay faithful to our commitment that we stay 00:25:54.92\00:25:58.42 faithful to the work that he's given us to do and then watch 00:25:58.42\00:26:01.49 Providence through his providence. He will indicate to 00:26:01.49\00:26:04.53 us whether it's time to move on or if it's still time to hang 00:26:04.53\00:26:07.76 in there, pray more and seek to learn what we need to learn in 00:26:07.76\00:26:11.90 the situation. 00:26:11.90\00:26:14.30 >> A man just taking notes here. So what you're I wrote 00:26:14.30\00:26:17.91 down the word, the word burnout, as you were talking 00:26:17.91\00:26:20.81 there, talk to us just a bit about burnout in leadership. 00:26:20.81\00:26:23.95 And I think that might be even more common, maybe in ministry 00:26:23.95\00:26:27.58 leadership because maybe in the public's sector, maybe not 00:26:27.58\00:26:31.02 necessarily the sometimes we have more parameters in place. 00:26:31.02\00:26:34.16 But the ministry sometimes are expected to be 24 7 on. So talk 00:26:34.16\00:26:37.93 to us about that. 00:26:37.93\00:26:39.09 >> So something that my husband and I have learned over the 00:26:39.09\00:26:41.33 many years that we've been there. I mean, my husband's 00:26:41.33\00:26:43.50 been there, 31 years now, I've been there. 22 years. 00:26:43.50\00:26:47.34 He's said to have to pace yourself leadership team. 00:26:47.34\00:26:50.34 And so if you to be on Kobe on everyone else's McCall 00:26:50.34\00:26:57.25 and yet you need to know your boundaries as well. 00:26:57.25\00:27:00.88 Someone who gives cans gives and burns out 00:27:00.88\00:27:05.55 cannot necessarily fulfill all that got one of them to if they 00:27:05.55\00:27:10.13 have been a little bit more in tune with where they are right 00:27:10.13\00:27:13.93 now and when they need to take a break, 00:27:13.93\00:27:16.50 James, like this, an example that comes to my mind games 00:27:16.50\00:27:19.57 like this. One of those people that burned out completely, 00:27:19.57\00:27:22.24 he did and we are all called to give all and burnout for God, 00:27:22.24\00:27:26.01 but not in the burnout. The sense that we bring on our 00:27:26.01\00:27:28.84 south sometimes because we have never learn to delegate because 00:27:28.84\00:27:32.51 we have never learned that it's OK to go home at the end of the 00:27:32.51\00:27:36.22 day and call it a day because tomorrow will be there again 00:27:36.22\00:27:39.79 and work ups. Yes, I think wisdom comes with experience, 00:27:39.79\00:27:45.93 but I do see some of our young people, especially who are 00:27:45.93\00:27:48.86 still new 00:27:48.86\00:27:50.27 and they are so driven and bless their hearts to God needs 00:27:50.27\00:27:53.54 people who are driven and committed. 00:27:53.54\00:27:56.27 But I think we just need to be careful also that we take that 00:27:56.27\00:27:59.11 time to be with him, 00:27:59.11\00:28:01.58 because that's where our strength comes from. And then 00:28:01.58\00:28:04.68 to make sure that we have time for our family because the 00:28:04.68\00:28:07.82 family unit needs to be strong and healthy for the ministry to 00:28:07.82\00:28:11.02 be healthy. And I think when those 2 things are healthy 00:28:11.02\00:28:14.89 and it will take care of ministry, whether it's long 00:28:14.89\00:28:17.76 hours are not so long. 00:28:17.76\00:28:20.20 >> And this kid, what about? And we'll go back to another 00:28:20.20\00:28:22.56 story in a moment here. But what about someone who's 00:28:22.56\00:28:25.07 saying? My husband feels called and commission service for 00:28:25.07\00:28:29.04 mission work, but I'm not sure that's the calling on my life. 00:28:29.04\00:28:33.34 What would you say? How did you navigate those waters? 00:28:33.34\00:28:37.05 >> Yes, that's a tough one. I remember talking to a lady 00:28:37.05\00:28:39.71 ones. Her husband filed call to go do mission work overseas 00:28:39.71\00:28:44.59 and she had no desire. She had no burden on her heart and she 00:28:44.59\00:28:49.52 was talking to me. She's like, what do I do? Do I just a 00:28:49.52\00:28:51.99 minute 00:28:51.99\00:28:53.66 now it's wise. We are asked to submit in a healthy way 00:28:53.66\00:28:56.77 submission to a loving husband who is wise in the Lord, 00:28:56.77\00:29:00.17 someone who is trying to guide and leave his family as the 00:29:00.17\00:29:03.51 Lord is leading. 00:29:03.51\00:29:05.87 And yet I caution women also to not have a blind submission but 00:29:05.87\00:29:11.28 uninformed submission based on their faith and a walk with the 00:29:11.28\00:29:15.35 Lord. 00:29:15.35\00:29:16.52 What I'm trying to say is I believe God calls, not just the 00:29:16.52\00:29:19.79 husband necessarily but a family. And if the husband is 00:29:19.79\00:29:23.53 why I stand, he's going to realize that it's the family 00:29:23.53\00:29:26.73 behind him that empowers him from ministry as well. So I 00:29:26.73\00:29:30.87 would advise a wife to talk openly with her husband into 00:29:30.87\00:29:34.64 asset. They per maybe put aside special seasons of fasting and 00:29:34.64\00:29:39.54 praying and studying the word, the testimonies to see what 00:29:39.54\00:29:44.18 he's got asking the husband to do and how the wife can help 00:29:44.18\00:29:47.12 him fulfill that mission so that it's a team effort and not 00:29:47.12\00:29:50.65 him with a family going. 00:29:50.65\00:29:53.52 That would be my first advice. The second thing is the husband 00:29:53.52\00:29:56.46 needs to realize that a lot rests on the shoulders of the 00:29:56.46\00:29:59.89 life and it is very important that she understands her will. 00:29:59.89\00:30:02.96 She understands what her part is and that he support her as 00:30:02.96\00:30:06.53 well because she will support him in ministry. 00:30:06.53\00:30:10.24 I'm reminded of William Carey, an early missionary 00:30:10.24\00:30:14.24 who left to go to India and his wife. 00:30:14.24\00:30:17.91 I never felt called to never felt part. And it was a very 00:30:17.91\00:30:22.05 sad story. 00:30:22.05\00:30:24.79 So I would say 00:30:24.79\00:30:26.69 prayer is very key in this communication to make sure 00:30:26.69\00:30:30.33 because I believe God last woman is my to see loves men. 00:30:30.33\00:30:33.33 And again, it's not a competitive issue at all. 00:30:33.33\00:30:35.90 And I believe God can put a burden on a woman's heart, 00:30:35.90\00:30:38.53 too, so that together they are united before they start 00:30:38.53\00:30:42.24 ministry so that they can come through it together. At the end 00:30:42.24\00:30:45.54 to me ministry is not going to be your whole life forever, 00:30:45.54\00:30:48.51 right? You need to come out the other and hold intact life 00:30:48.51\00:30:52.55 after that chapter. And so I think start together well, 00:30:52.55\00:30:56.42 in the beginning, go through it together. There's going to be a 00:30:56.42\00:30:58.89 lot of talk in war to pull you apart, but to come out together 00:30:58.89\00:31:02.66 at the other end as well. I love that. You know, 00:31:02.66\00:31:05.36 sometimes I was thinking that I kind of laughed because, 00:31:05.36\00:31:07.76 you know, sometimes families. 00:31:07.76\00:31:09.23 >> Unfortunately, though, they'll have their children and 00:31:09.23\00:31:11.63 they grow up and they go off to college and the parents become 00:31:11.63\00:31:14.94 empty nesters and they look at each other and say, who are 00:31:14.94\00:31:17.77 you? Well, how do we grow apart these years? So the same thing 00:31:17.77\00:31:22.34 with ministry. It can be, you know, being in fall together. 00:31:22.34\00:31:26.31 You don't want to come out on the other side and be who are 00:31:26.31\00:31:28.82 you and who did I marry and you want to grow to get there and 00:31:28.82\00:31:32.79 minister together and do that. United Leanne grow stronger. 00:31:32.79\00:31:36.86 And then at the other end, your marriage is so much stronger, 00:31:36.86\00:31:39.53 so powerful. 00:31:39.53\00:31:40.56 >> And we're not immune to marriage issues. You know, 00:31:40.56\00:31:45.13 there's a lot that pulls on us and takes us away from each 00:31:45.13\00:31:48.47 other so that we are so busy that we can come together. 00:31:48.47\00:31:51.91 So it's a constant battle to make time to prioritize and to 00:31:51.91\00:31:55.78 say, you know what, from Rye union from our home comes 00:31:55.78\00:31:59.48 ministry and not the other way around. 00:31:59.48\00:32:02.12 And so we need to make time to come together again to be 00:32:02.12\00:32:05.29 united. And I think a husband and a wife that can pray 00:32:05.29\00:32:07.69 together the cast. You know how the old word go sleep. You get 00:32:07.69\00:32:11.59 when they prayed together, they stay together. And it's true. 00:32:11.59\00:32:14.56 It's it's only through prayer that we can humble ourselves 00:32:14.56\00:32:17.20 with each other and maybe talk about and get the words to 00:32:17.20\00:32:20.27 express what sometimes is so difficult. And it's the holy 00:32:20.27\00:32:23.61 spirit that has that. And if we don't make room for the holy 00:32:23.61\00:32:26.07 spirit to help us, then it becomes so much harder to 00:32:26.07\00:32:29.04 understand each other and talk to each other. Absolutely. 00:32:29.04\00:32:32.35 We're going to spend some time in prayer. 00:32:32.35\00:32:36.15 >> Toward the end of the program, we want to pray for 00:32:36.15\00:32:38.49 you and what you're going through and what your 00:32:38.49\00:32:40.29 challenges are. But before we get there, I think we have time 00:32:40.29\00:32:43.73 for another story. So let's talk. I don't know her name, 00:32:43.73\00:32:46.66 but this is I think she's a student of yours, a girl. 00:32:46.66\00:32:49.60 Um. And there was an issue with an older man. 00:32:49.60\00:32:53.54 >> Yes, this is a very heartrending situation for me 00:32:53.54\00:32:57.51 as well. One that I didn't know exactly what I should and 00:32:57.51\00:33:00.28 shouldn't do 00:33:00.28\00:33:02.38 so high in label this type a personality by people. And it's 00:33:02.38\00:33:07.42 not a title I enjoy. I think life shapes us and makes us who 00:33:07.42\00:33:11.72 we are 00:33:11.72\00:33:12.95 and with a or type A or another type. We've got ones, all of us 00:33:12.95\00:33:16.73 in ministry. He needs all of us. 00:33:16.73\00:33:20.46 So over the years I have really try to cultivate the gentler 00:33:20.46\00:33:24.70 side, 00:33:24.70\00:33:26.67 the more patients side and time God is good and he is helping 00:33:26.67\00:33:31.84 mean teaching me. 00:33:31.84\00:33:34.18 But they are times when the fierce are type a personality 00:33:34.18\00:33:37.38 is needed in ministry. And this happened earlier this year when 00:33:37.38\00:33:41.48 I had a young student 00:33:41.48\00:33:43.45 who is being influence and more later, when you are worth that 00:33:43.45\00:33:48.52 I've learned lately is groomed. 00:33:48.52\00:33:50.36 >> She's 14 years old and she was physically abused by her 00:33:50.36\00:33:55.13 own relatives a few months ago before joining our school. 00:33:55.13\00:33:58.87 And so we had a foreign student attending our Bible training 00:33:58.87\00:34:03.24 school at the time. He's in his late 30's. He's the father of 00:34:03.24\00:34:06.07 3. He's from a foreign country, like I said, 00:34:06.07\00:34:09.08 and he started taking real special interest in this girl 00:34:09.08\00:34:11.95 as her spiritual mentor as an elder, 00:34:11.95\00:34:15.68 which would be OK if it wasn't a healthy context. But this 00:34:15.68\00:34:20.16 became unhealthy where he with single her out letter use his 00:34:20.16\00:34:23.93 phone here later, I found out he was giving her money, 00:34:23.93\00:34:27.96 promising to take her back to his country so she can go to 00:34:27.96\00:34:30.50 school all the things that a vulnerable girl would grab bag, 00:34:30.50\00:34:34.10 that she could have a hope and a future. 00:34:34.10\00:34:37.44 So I went to talk to them and I talked to him in the presence 00:34:37.44\00:34:40.38 of leadership and I just laid it out to him. My concerns. 00:34:40.38\00:34:44.31 I asked him to please abide by the school rules to not seek or 00:34:44.31\00:34:48.28 out in an isolated situation at all. But to go through that 00:34:48.28\00:34:52.65 female leaders at the school whenever he needed to meet with 00:34:52.65\00:34:55.62 her or try and help her. And he is he promised me that 00:34:55.62\00:34:59.06 he would do that. 00:34:59.06\00:35:00.93 But a few weeks went by and I found out that he's giving her 00:35:00.93\00:35:03.30 money and gifts and that she's going around to all her 00:35:03.30\00:35:06.07 girlfriends at the dorm, saying how he cares for her and he's 00:35:06.07\00:35:09.97 going to be her answer for for the education. 00:35:09.97\00:35:13.31 And I could sense this was very unhealthy, 00:35:13.31\00:35:16.18 especially when she was sneaking away from the dorm to 00:35:16.18\00:35:18.55 go find Hammond, writing him letters and things to do so at 00:35:18.55\00:35:22.35 this point, you know, after I had counsel with her after we 00:35:22.35\00:35:25.55 had counsel with her as a team and she was not responding, 00:35:25.55\00:35:28.89 she was being drawn with this man. We have to confront him. 00:35:28.89\00:35:32.96 So I went with more representatives this time in a 00:35:32.96\00:35:36.00 group setting. I confronted him night after remembering that 00:35:36.00\00:35:39.00 the foreign cultural setting that we're in for me as a woman 00:35:39.00\00:35:43.47 to confront a man is frowned upon, especially if I'm not 00:35:43.47\00:35:47.11 going to be tiptoeing in doing it very diplomatically 00:35:47.11\00:35:50.75 intently. 00:35:50.75\00:35:52.28 So I started out gently and I asked him, I reminded him of 00:35:52.28\00:35:55.55 our previous meeting that we had 00:35:55.55\00:35:58.02 and he just simply said, why are you questioning me? Who are 00:35:58.02\00:36:01.42 you to come and talk to me? And 00:36:01.42\00:36:04.23 I realize that I'm dealing with someone here who is not going 00:36:04.23\00:36:07.23 to take responsibility for any of his actions. And I have to 00:36:07.23\00:36:10.13 stay on girl. I had to think about. 00:36:10.13\00:36:12.20 So I was very straightforward with Ham. I laid out to him. 00:36:12.20\00:36:15.40 The letter says she had been riding the gifts he had been 00:36:15.40\00:36:17.74 giving her against 00:36:17.74\00:36:19.37 our school rules of doing it in public 00:36:19.37\00:36:22.31 and he would just deny it all along. Now. I'm fortunate that 00:36:22.31\00:36:26.21 I'm surrounded by caring team who then took that and 00:36:26.21\00:36:29.28 investigated and found that it was true. 00:36:29.28\00:36:32.32 And even then he was not cooperating and he was asked to 00:36:32.32\00:36:35.79 leave immediately. 00:36:35.79\00:36:39.36 Now I'm left with this girl. Yeah. And of course in her 00:36:39.36\00:36:43.60 immaturity, she can see what I've been trying to do to help 00:36:43.60\00:36:46.97 her and keep her safe 00:36:46.97\00:36:48.84 to her. She's thinking she just ruined my chances to get an 00:36:48.84\00:36:53.27 education to have a new beginning. 00:36:53.27\00:36:56.54 And so 00:36:56.54\00:36:59.31 because of what she had gone through physically and not 00:36:59.31\00:37:02.38 being able to share with anyone to see if the council and the 00:37:02.38\00:37:05.32 treatment that she needs, 00:37:05.32\00:37:07.46 she's been driven to seek out the attentions of this older 00:37:07.46\00:37:10.56 man. 00:37:10.56\00:37:12.19 And so I've tried different ways to reach her heart. 00:37:12.19\00:37:15.33 I've tried different ways to counsel her. I've given her a 00:37:15.33\00:37:18.43 consequence for 2 weeks. And I say to you have to come 00:37:18.43\00:37:21.27 every day and let me give you a hug. And it's not a quick hug. 00:37:21.27\00:37:26.41 It's a proper hug because these kids have so little physical 00:37:26.41\00:37:30.48 touch star from action from a pure motive from an older 00:37:30.48\00:37:35.18 adult. 00:37:35.18\00:37:36.38 And she was faithful with that. Actually, she would come every 00:37:36.38\00:37:38.85 day for 2 weeks, too. Find her hug. 00:37:38.85\00:37:41.79 And yet outwardly, I don't see change. I don't see 00:37:41.79\00:37:47.30 how she's wanting to cooperate. She's she was on holiday just 00:37:47.30\00:37:52.63 when I left to come to the states. And I hear that she's 00:37:52.63\00:37:55.57 visiting the public areas where the men play cool and hang out 00:37:55.57\00:37:59.41 and that's dangerous. Yeah, it's I don't know. At the end 00:37:59.41\00:38:02.61 of her story is at this moment. She's not asking to leave. 00:38:02.61\00:38:06.88 She's not asking to be released. I have hope that as 00:38:06.88\00:38:09.65 we keep spending time with her 00:38:09.65\00:38:11.52 and putting boundaries and explain to her why that maybe 00:38:11.52\00:38:14.86 she'll turn around and maybe her life can take a much 00:38:14.86\00:38:17.56 positive turn. 00:38:17.56\00:38:18.69 >> That I wrote down the word worry, do you worry for your 00:38:18.69\00:38:22.50 students, do you? How do you do with that? 00:38:22.50\00:38:26.57 I worry. But again, you know, I I pray I try. I love them. 00:38:26.57\00:38:34.21 >> And then I have wonderful staff that I work with from the 00:38:34.21\00:38:37.61 matron, set the dormitories to the teachers in the classrooms 00:38:37.61\00:38:41.52 who in their cultural ways and can go with the language deeper 00:38:41.52\00:38:45.42 than I can to really come close to them. And I'm very thankful 00:38:45.42\00:38:49.89 for our school because they are in a group with other young 00:38:49.89\00:38:53.26 people 00:38:53.26\00:38:54.56 and that keeps them there. And that gives them that 00:38:54.56\00:38:57.40 opportunity to get in touch with Jesus on a daily basis. 00:38:57.40\00:39:00.67 And then 00:39:00.67\00:39:01.80 I give them to Jesus cause. He cares about them much more 00:39:01.80\00:39:04.64 than I do. 00:39:04.64\00:39:05.77 >> And man, but I want to do now just do an appeal for you 00:39:05.77\00:39:10.15 at home and 00:39:10.15\00:39:12.71 I don't know what you're going through. I don't know what your 00:39:12.71\00:39:15.65 journey with Jesus is like. Maybe you're just finding him 00:39:15.65\00:39:19.02 for the very first time. 00:39:19.02\00:39:21.09 Maybe you've walked with him and you're uncertain. 00:39:21.09\00:39:26.49 Maybe you're experiencing challenges in your home. 00:39:26.49\00:39:29.26 Maybe your mom and struggling with feeling that validation 00:39:29.26\00:39:33.87 importance, raising those children. I'm just whatever the learns put on your heart right 00:40:24.29\00:40:28.22 now and then we'll go to a stop. 00:40:28.22\00:40:31.73 We are on a journey 00:40:31.73\00:40:33.70 and I'm so thankful that the end is not here. It's and have 00:40:33.70\00:40:36.63 fun, which is really the beginning of life eternal. 00:40:36.63\00:40:40.70 >> And the decisions that we make now has bearing on that he 00:40:40.70\00:40:44.27 turned it. And I'm thankful that the Lourdes and leave us 00:40:44.27\00:40:46.37 to our decisions that we're making here. But we do need to 00:40:46.37\00:40:49.31 realize that what we invest in right now, what we spend our 00:40:49.31\00:40:52.15 time on what we're committed to right now, it does have an 00:40:52.15\00:40:54.85 influence on our return. It to that. The Lord is 00:40:54.85\00:40:57.35 preparing for us. If you're a young mother with young 00:40:57.35\00:41:00.56 children, 00:41:00.56\00:41:01.72 you are ministry right now is so precious. It so valuable is 00:41:01.72\00:41:05.43 soon needed in a world that is so broken today. 00:41:05.43\00:41:09.03 May the lord strengthen you and help you keep you faithful. 00:41:09.03\00:41:12.77 If you're an older lady right now, too, 00:41:12.77\00:41:15.57 are now called into a ministry that maybe you have not had any 00:41:15.57\00:41:18.91 training for our qualifications. Jus do it just 00:41:18.91\00:41:23.18 be faithful and obedient to the Lord. He will use you. He will 00:41:23.18\00:41:26.28 supply your needs 00:41:26.28\00:41:27.92 and what a wonderful reward is going to be when we get to have 00:41:27.92\00:41:31.35 in one day and someone comes, students say, 00:41:31.35\00:41:34.02 Madam, because you were there when you retired leaving your 00:41:34.02\00:41:38.16 children at home, that one more day when they should have had 00:41:38.16\00:41:40.96 you. I'm here and I'm so thankful now I'm praying that 00:41:40.96\00:41:46.23 my children will be there, too, because I am trying to involve 00:41:46.23\00:41:49.34 them with what I'm doing. 00:41:49.34\00:41:51.57 But sometimes when we pulled this way, when we really want 00:41:51.57\00:41:53.98 to go another way, it's OK to Lourdes air with us and he will 00:41:53.98\00:41:57.48 strengthen us and use us anyways. And if you're an older 00:41:57.48\00:42:00.72 lady yet who are not so active right now in ministry anymore, 00:42:00.72\00:42:05.42 you can pray and encourage those young ladies because we 00:42:05.42\00:42:08.16 need mothers in Israel. We need someone to help us navigate 00:42:08.16\00:42:12.43 this world today as woman 00:42:12.43\00:42:14.66 may God bless you. 00:42:14.66\00:42:16.70 >> And thank you so much. We're going to now we're going 00:42:16.70\00:42:19.10 to go to a song. And as we listen to the song, just 00:42:19.10\00:42:23.30 encourage you and the quietness of your heart in your own home 00:42:23.30\00:42:25.97 or if you're driving and you're listening to it in the car, 00:42:25.97\00:42:29.18 I'm just tell Jesus your problems, tell him what you're 00:42:29.18\00:42:32.51 going to tell him your challenges. And then when we 00:42:32.51\00:42:35.88 come out from the song, we're going to spend a season in 00:42:35.88\00:42:38.35 prayer for you at home. So let's go to the song. We ask that you would bless the school. We ask that 00:51:16.77\00:51:20.31 you would bless your children all over the world. Both men 00:51:20.31\00:51:24.58 and women who is seeking to serve you 00:51:24.58\00:51:28.68 seeking to be leaders in whatever their sphere of 00:51:28.68\00:51:33.02 influence hands. 00:51:33.02\00:51:35.16 We thank you for your love and you're good. Yes, we thank you 00:51:35.16\00:51:39.13 for the work you have done and what you are going to 2. 00:51:39.13\00:51:43.33 And we ask all this and the precious and the holy name of 00:51:43.33\00:51:47.37 cheese they meant. 00:51:47.37\00:51:50.74 >> Want to give the website for the school one more time and 00:51:50.74\00:51:53.24 then we'll have some closing thoughts here. But the website 00:51:53.24\00:51:55.78 for the school can't do La Dot org. That's Kay ID ID. You l a 00:51:55.78\00:52:03.12 kid, the doula Dot org. If the lords put on your heart to 00:52:03.12\00:52:07.22 support them financially to pray for them for sure or to 00:52:07.22\00:52:15.00 get involved and that ministry. So that's the Web site where 00:52:15.00\00:52:18.77 you can do just that. What would be some of it, 00:52:18.77\00:52:22.60 the ways that the 3 D and family can pray for you? 00:52:22.60\00:52:26.07 What would be some of the needs that you have? 00:52:26.07\00:52:28.61 >> So right now I have to transition again a little bit. 00:52:28.61\00:52:32.78 I have been the active day-to-day principal at this 00:52:32.78\00:52:36.12 school. That means I deal with discipline and grades and the 00:52:36.12\00:52:39.19 government all from day to day. 00:52:39.19\00:52:41.89 But the school has come to the point where I need to develop 00:52:41.89\00:52:44.99 the industry more. I need to do more donor connections, 00:52:44.99\00:52:48.16 profiling the students. So I really do need a replacement 00:52:48.16\00:52:51.77 for me in my current position as principal so that I can step 00:52:51.77\00:52:55.27 out a little bit and see the bigger picture and guide and 00:52:55.27\00:52:58.37 manage the bigger picture. 00:52:58.37\00:53:01.21 So I am the process of looking for someone who can 00:53:01.21\00:53:05.21 the use that God given love for young people that God has given 00:53:05.21\00:53:08.72 them 00:53:08.72\00:53:10.29 to lead and guide the school and agricultural pursuits. 00:53:10.29\00:53:14.09 And then I can be focusing more on the big picture if you could 00:53:14.09\00:53:17.66 just pray for keeping doula. It's has a very humble 00:53:17.66\00:53:21.66 beginning. But the Lord is taking us on an amazing 00:53:21.66\00:53:25.17 journey. The last few years, 00:53:25.17\00:53:27.30 the mission is growing and expanding very fast. I'm very 00:53:27.30\00:53:31.21 excited about what's happening there. And it's going to impact 00:53:31.21\00:53:34.48 not just 10 Xenia, but the rest of Africa around us as well. 00:53:34.48\00:53:38.68 Just prayer with the so much appreciated. And I we people 00:53:38.68\00:53:42.15 don't realize how much we appreciate when people reach 00:53:42.15\00:53:44.49 out to us and say, you know what, we're praying for you 00:53:44.49\00:53:46.69 because it helps us. And it reminds us that were part of a 00:53:46.69\00:53:48.92 greater family and that we're not by yourself. 00:53:48.92\00:53:51.89 >> The men that power from the heart has been so blessed this 00:53:51.89\00:53:54.83 evening. As you've shared from your heart in your experience 00:53:54.83\00:53:58.10 and your stories and the wisdom that God's given you through 00:53:58.10\00:54:01.60 experience and time in prayer in time, in his words. So thank 00:54:01.60\00:54:05.87 you for what you do for the cause of God. I took notes the 00:54:05.87\00:54:10.15 second hour and these are some of my takeaways from what 00:54:10.15\00:54:13.42 Antoinette shared, of course, not everything. And then we'll 00:54:13.42\00:54:15.58 give you time for a closing thought. Spent time in the work 00:54:15.58\00:54:20.86 do what is right in front of you. Even if other people may 00:54:20.86\00:54:25.13 feel like it's an important God sees what's important 00:54:25.13\00:54:28.13 the open with your spouse, protect your family life, 00:54:28.13\00:54:33.60 focus on Jesus, not on yourself. Prioritize what is 00:54:33.60\00:54:39.37 truly important. And this would be true for ministry or family 00:54:39.37\00:54:44.48 give validation, but don't expect it trust God, 00:54:44.48\00:54:48.58 regardless, stay faithful to the work and ministry that God 00:54:48.58\00:54:54.52 has called you to pace yourself and learn those boundaries, 00:54:54.52\00:55:00.26 prioritize your family and just do it. Step out on the call 00:55:00.26\00:55:05.60 that God has given to you. So do you have a closing 00:55:05.60\00:55:08.44 thought for a cent? 00:55:08.44\00:55:11.51 >> So I shared at the end of my talk at a a sign that we are an 00:55:11.51\00:55:16.38 arrow in our father's quiver. And that was my friend Pastor 00:55:16.38\00:55:20.15 Stephen Grabner who share that in the seminar on leadership. 00:55:20.15\00:55:23.69 And it was very point none to me because sometimes I feel 00:55:23.69\00:55:26.92 like a wet spaghetti noodle actually. Yeah. And ye Gon is 00:55:26.92\00:55:30.46 asking me to do this job that I really feel I can I do. 00:55:30.46\00:55:35.10 But then I'm reminded that it's his holy spirit. 00:55:35.10\00:55:37.37 >> And working in me that strengthens me. It's him taking 00:55:37.37\00:55:41.70 the aim and doing the shooting. 00:55:41.70\00:55:43.87 >> And he can hit the mark. And when I realized that again, 00:55:43.87\00:55:47.41 it gives me new courage to come back to him again and say, 00:55:47.41\00:55:50.41 Lord, I feel very weak right now. I feel inadequate. Give me 00:55:50.41\00:55:54.92 what I need. Again. Police inspire and revive me again for 00:55:54.92\00:55:59.12 the ministry. The and if it's true for me then is true for 00:55:59.12\00:56:01.76 you is true for everyone in ministry. 00:56:01.76\00:56:04.79 >> Her name and thank you so much for sharing from your 00:56:04.79\00:56:07.76 heart tonight in being here with us tonight. 00:56:07.76\00:56:10.40 I am not qualified women in leadership, but yet God 00:56:10.40\00:56:14.00 qualifies the call. And that's what caused send in your life. 00:56:14.00\00:56:17.14 Know that that review and family and myself personally 00:56:17.14\00:56:19.67 will be praying for you and your ministry in what God's 00:56:19.67\00:56:22.34 called you to do. Thank you so much for sharing and we thank 00:56:22.34\00:56:26.18 you at home are 3ABN family for joining with us as well. 00:56:26.18\00:56:30.59 I've had my Bible the whole time open to Isaiah Chapter 6. 00:56:30.59\00:56:33.79 And I want to close with that. This is, of course, the call of 00:56:33.79\00:56:36.49 God to the prophet Isaiah. And after he saw the vision of 00:56:36.49\00:56:41.20 God high and lifted up in the temple after his lips were 00:56:41.20\00:56:45.27 touched with a cold from off the altar and his son was 00:56:45.27\00:56:49.00 purged. God called him. And what did he say here? Am I send 00:56:49.00\00:56:54.11 me? I don't know what ministry, what sphere of influence or 00:56:54.11\00:56:58.18 leadership. 00:56:58.18\00:56:59.38 >> The Lord is calling you to. But I pray that you will answer 00:56:59.38\00:57:03.22 the call here.
