a huge need I human trafficking?

surprising statistic is that

52 million people are caught
up in human trafficking, which
00:03:50.23\00:03:54.66
would be really modern day
slavery. And that's the most
00:03:54.66\00:03:57.63
individuals ever at any time in
history. There is late. So this
00:03:57.63\00:04:02.10
is a massive issue and probably
the most troubling statistic is
00:04:02.10\00:04:06.51
that once an individual's taken
in human trafficking, only one
00:04:06.51\00:04:10.11
out of 100 ever escape.
00:04:10.11\00:04:12.85
So I think the topic itself
is important. And I often hear

people say

it's so good to be aware
of what we're trying to do,

but what difference will that

really make? How many of
us will actually see somebody

trafficked and stop it? For
example, it's possible because

it happens, but mostly it's
an underground crime that we

usually don't see happening.
And so I think it's very

important to move awareness
to action. And that's what we're

trying to do with child impact.

over multiple times a day and

Very different than even drugs

drugs so wants and it's gone
right. But these girls that are

trafficked and boys as well
get sold over and over multiple

times daily. And so that's a
sex trafficking side of things.

But they're larger numbers that
are actually labor trafficked.

Okay. And so that also is a
major issue involves children.

One of our newest projects
in Pakistan is actually working

with the brick kilns where
Lesage a man his wife needs

some kind of a surgery. He's
no way to get the money. So it
00:05:32.43\00:05:35.36
goes to the
owner of the brick kiln
00:05:35.36\00:05:37.47
gets a loan and that owner make
sure that he will never be able
00:05:37.47\00:05:42.17
to pay that loan off. And
so then the wife becomes abused
00:05:42.17\00:05:46.78
and the children
also become enslaved.
00:05:46.78\00:05:49.31
And so this will be going
for years and years and years.

So we're forced to go to
work. Yes, it's it's indentured
00:05:51.55\00:05:54.55
servant servant. And so
it's it's really slavery because

there's no way out. And so
we've become paying the debt

for some of those individuals,
especially those with children

so that they can find freedom
and we give them a home to live

in and food to take care of
them. So this is another type

of trafficking as well.

place in Asia. And so that's

that's a huge portion of it.
We work in Africa lot. And of

course, there's a
lot happening there.

The tragedy is that a lot of
this is funded from the United

States. Yeah. So that's
really a lot of United States

involvement yet. Trafficking
happens here as well. For

example, the city of Chicago
or approximately 14,000 girls

disappear every year

from the city of Chicago,
the city of Chicago here in the

United States just just up
the road here. Yes, so that's a

major issue there. We have a
small project in South Chicago

that we're working with.

But, yeah, it's it's a
challenge here as well. But the

numbers aren't as large.

For me. The real difficulty
looking at this is the driving

force for human trafficking
and developing countries is

poverty. Yeah. And so there's
no way that the perpetrators

prey on the financial needs
or even just hunger, right?

they give them false promises

in human trafficking.

hosting a young lady, a girl
from other countries, Latvia,

my wife is always wanted to
do what? What is how does this
