We have the privilege of being up in Fort Wayne, Indiana and past ring 00:09:19.62\00:09:24.76 up there. Also seeing this ministry, timeless healing insights, Grosso. We partner 00:09:24.76\00:09:28.76 with you on. Your airwaves, sharing some of the messages that we're presenting from the 00:09:28.76\00:09:34.57 pope and in Fort Wayne, Indiana. >> Wow. And you only have one 00:09:34.57\00:09:39.21 church, one church, OK? That's good. But with all you do, I think one is sufficient. Yes. 00:09:39.21\00:09:45.15 But for those who may not know you, somebody might be tuning in, say. I don't know. The 00:09:45.15\00:09:48.02 couple is. Kind of give us a little background family chills. 00:09:48.02\00:09:56.02 Sure. Sure. So the Lord called the so called Me First and the ministry and medicine. 00:09:56.02\00:09:59.49 >> So I'm a board certified specialist in internal medicine 00:09:59.49\00:10:03.43 and preventive medicine. They had the privilege of working with the many ministries here in 00:10:03.43\00:10:06.47 the United States and partner with people overseas over the years, doing a lot of really 00:10:06.47\00:10:12.34 practical cheeses spent a lot of his time healing see that it's a privilege that we have 00:10:12.34\00:10:19.25 of being involved in that profession. But the Lord has also called the to be a 00:10:19.25\00:10:25.35 teacher, OK? I've taught in both secular and Christian college 00:10:25.35\00:10:29.66 campuses over the years and also to pastors. So doing a mix of those things, have a lot of 00:10:29.66\00:10:36.53 gracious people usually working around me who realize you can't do justice to any of those 00:10:36.53\00:10:39.67 things. When you're running in multiple directions. But we're part of the body of Christ who 00:10:39.67\00:10:44.54 were losing So, you know, I have been together for over 30 years as a team. So you wait a 00:10:44.54\00:10:48.88 little bit background or their family, OK? So. >> I also went 00:10:48.88\00:10:56.45 to medical school on. That's where we met a okay and to. And we have a family. We have 3 00:10:56.45\00:11:04.23 children. They're all grown To a daughter and 2 sons and the 2 oldest are married and the 00:11:04.23\00:11:11.87 youngest just got engaged. So he'll be getting married in October and so we we minister 00:11:11.87\00:11:17.77 together, as he mentioned in Fort Wayne, Indiana. I also work part time still as a 00:11:17.77\00:11:24.25 physician out in California, actually in a rural health clinic that say a clinic, for 00:11:24.25\00:11:29.92 federally funded government clinic for the underserved. So we mainly see people who are 00:11:29.92\00:11:35.29 on public assistance and it's a real minister area, real ministry being able to. Work 00:11:35.29\00:11:42.90 with these people. So you fly the caliphs or fly out every other month for about a week 00:11:42.90\00:11:47.14 or so. And then I do telehealth one day. Plus a week in between 00:11:47.14\00:11:51.31 depending on how many people need to see. >> So you lives have been dedicated to spiritual 00:11:51.31\00:11:57.11 and physical healing and that's It's true. It's true. >> You 00:11:57.11\00:12:01.95 know, I like about every time you every time you hear, you know, you come in Tuesday, S 00:12:01.95\00:12:07.89 taken may just give us some insights and we get 2 hours of free medical and And for those 00:12:07.89\00:12:13.06 of you that are watching and listening to the program. >> That is to this. The only 00:12:13.06\00:12:15.90 time you get 2 hours of free medical insights from roses. so you may want to hit record 00:12:15.90\00:12:26.31 guns once again, the phone number for those texting 00:12:26.31\00:12:30.38 questions. >> Yes, 618-228-3975. Text. Your question in for the second hour to try and 00:12:30.38\00:12:37.19 whatever may be or email that live at 3 ABN DOT TV. That's where you send the email. No 00:12:37.19\00:12:44.26 phone calls tonight and but we'll be able to take those 2 Matheson. Almost everybody has 00:12:44.26\00:12:49.26 a phone nowadays. I know which have access to email. Yeah, we're trying to a little 00:12:49.26\00:12:54.97 taking here 3 again and we have the curve. That's how you can get in touch with us. But 00:12:54.97\00:12:57.97 give us a little insight behind timeless Healing Insights 00:12:57.97\00:13:04.61 Ministries. >> Well, timeless healing insights has been something that's been kind of 00:13:04.61\00:13:07.78 going over the course of really a couple of decades. But really just formulated really is only 00:13:07.78\00:13:12.52 taking shape in a real concrete when the last year or so. And so 00:13:12.52\00:13:17.46 it's this whole idea that, you know, Jesus gives us time list insights, but it's not just 00:13:17.46\00:13:21.50 spiritual insights. Its for whole person, healing. And so as we've looked the work, we've 00:13:21.50\00:13:28.44 done in teaching and medicine and also preaching, we realize that these things come 00:13:28.44\00:13:32.27 together in the Bible is really filled with information that not only deals with their 00:13:32.27\00:13:36.98 spiritual health but deals with those other realms of h***. So 00:13:36.98\00:13:40.38 time was healing. Insights is really a preaching show. But we drawing a lot of health 00:13:40.38\00:13:45.62 information. So the first series that aired on 3ABN, another network throughout the world 00:13:45.62\00:13:51.66 dealing with timeless keys to resilience, looking at things that can help us bounce back 00:13:51.66\00:13:54.46 with the Bible has to say about that and drawing from the the medical literature, 00:13:54.46\00:13:57.97 the psychological literature. We've got some programming coming up on weight loss that 00:13:57.97\00:14:03.77 will be airing on 3 ABN here shortly. And then we've got programs that are coming up on 00:14:03.77\00:14:07.98 the Gospel of mark with a systematically go through the Gospel of mark and really see 00:14:07.98\00:14:11.98 how imbedded in the gospel stories or practical healing insights, mental and physical 00:14:11.98\00:14:17.69 as well as spiritual okay. >> A lot of people refer to the book of Luke because was a 00:14:17.69\00:14:24.73 doctor. But Mark has some insights. Also, Marcus, fascinating so fan. What's so 00:14:24.73\00:14:29.06 fascinating to me about the Gospel of Mark is mark with someone who really was the 00:14:29.06\00:14:33.34 product of social Division. If you think about it, he was instrumental in that first 00:14:33.34\00:14:38.07 missionary team that went out to Paul and Barnabas and then division comes to to pioneer 00:14:38.07\00:14:46.18 Gospel mission areas over John Marks likely experienced a lot You know, people speaking 00:14:46.18\00:14:54.09 behind his back. I mean, here's the guy that broke up this powerful missionary team. 00:14:54.09\00:14:58.63 But as we read about Mark's life, he again is of value to Paul in the closing days of 00:14:58.63\00:15:04.47 Paul's ministry that I was so close to Peter and his gospel is full of things that are so 00:15:04.47\00:15:07.84 practical when it comes to healing and it's in the book, you know, as pastors, it's a 00:15:07.84\00:15:11.91 new book where and we even in her early ministry column, Martin got along. Well, but as 00:15:11.91\00:15:17.48 Paul got older and wiser says bring Mark is profitable is good as good? And also let's 00:15:17.48\00:15:24.29 get you thinking about. >> excited about today's program, 00:15:24.29\00:15:29.82 whether we what is the gist of the problem? Well, that just actually goes back to kind of a 00:15:29.82\00:15:35.40 burden that a number of us have both in medical circles as 00:15:35.40\00:15:38.67 spiritual circles. >> One of the conditions that has really been, I would say even the Christian 00:15:38.67\00:15:43.84 world not treated equally. It. And that is carrying extra weight. Yes. And so we're 00:15:43.84\00:15:51.61 speaking about, you know, in ministry, we've seen all kinds of prayer requests. You know, 00:15:51.61\00:15:55.62 prayer meetings. But as we were talking about it. It's almost unheard of for someone pray 00:15:55.62\00:16:01.72 about someone who struggles with their weight. we did a recent interview. I have a 00:16:01.72\00:16:08.86 weekly radio show with a a leading psychologist in fields. Name is Jason Willis 00:16:08.86\00:16:15.40 and Jason was talking about the stigma in our culture song about about overweight. Just 00:16:15.40\00:16:19.41 give us that a nutshell. >> He was saying how. People who are overweight. Ares often 00:16:19.41\00:16:29.62 made fun of look down on people. I think you must you obviously 00:16:29.62\00:16:36.12 doing something wrong. You're you're You know, it's OK to he people say it's OK to make fun 00:16:36.12\00:16:45.00 of people or 2. You know, criticize them to just be rude to them because they're 00:16:45.00\00:16:50.61 overweight and I was rather shocked when I heard that. I mean, to me, you're nice to you 00:16:50.61\00:16:53.88 should be nice to everybody. I don't care what ate. >> You know, look like or act 00:16:53.88\00:16:58.35 like we should be nice to them as Christians. But I was really amazed to hear that. 00:16:58.35\00:17:04.35 And I know a friend of mine was sharing with me shoes. She has struggled of late over the 00:17:04.35\00:17:09.19 years and has actually lost like 90 pounds over the last 2 or 3 years. Wow. And she was 00:17:09.19\00:17:13.86 saying how? People treat heard better now. Yeah, that she's weighs less even though she's 00:17:13.86\00:17:21.50 me still overweight. But she weighs a lot less than she did. And she said how people 00:17:21.50\00:17:25.61 treat her you know, more respectfully now than they used to. She said, I should 00:17:25.61\00:17:29.71 just be walking down the street to go for a walk and people would be yeah, Saying 00:17:29.71\00:17:36.52 heckling her making mean comments. You know, it just. Unbelievable to me. And that's 00:17:36.52\00:17:43.73 not my. We have thinking about things, but it's pretty. Prevalent out there. 00:17:43.73\00:17:47.66 Apparently, okay. >> Perhaps the craziest part about it feel as 00:17:47.66\00:17:51.97 we're talking to doctor little us about this is that a lot of people think they're helping the 00:17:51.97\00:17:58.84 person by being critical. This is going to motivate them. You know, they're they're they're 00:17:58.84\00:18:00.84 telling him that straight. Another. >> That was fascinating 00:18:00.84\00:18:04.05 to me. He said he shared that actually did a study on that where they showed. A video. To 00:18:04.05\00:18:08.08 people who are of normal weight and people who are overweight 00:18:08.08\00:18:15.79 and the video was remind me it was something about eating. >> Actually, actually was 00:18:15.79\00:18:19.86 people overweight in a bad. Let's write putting something they watch this video of 00:18:19.86\00:18:23.67 overweight people being made fun of or whatever I. >> And then 00:18:23.67\00:18:28.97 they then afterwards they had a spread of food for these people to watch the video. The people 00:18:28.97\00:18:33.51 who were of normal weight, 8, the norm, same amount they would have at any other time. 00:18:33.51\00:18:38.91 The people who are overweight, 8, 3, times the amount of food after watching that video of 00:18:38.91\00:18:44.19 all, they're overweight. People being made fun of 3 times 3 times. And I know I've 00:18:44.19\00:18:52.73 had people tell me to the same that they're doing what they said when people would make 00:18:52.73\00:18:55.70 fun of me or to, you know, say you need to lose weight. She's it would just drive them to go 00:18:55.70\00:18:59.50 and eat more. It's like a boomerang >> into Instead of 00:18:59.50\00:19:08.18 responding affirmatively this one, show you. It's not the way to help with the negativity and 00:19:08.18\00:19:12.78 some other people say it's, you know, it's a stress response. So many people eat, you know, 00:19:12.78\00:19:15.72 lot of stress. So the lot of explanations for it. But but this background has really 00:19:15.72\00:19:20.79 gonna saying will, as a Christian community, what are we doing? That's in the way of 00:19:20.79\00:19:26.49 compassionate. Karen, help for people who are overweight. And that's the background for this 00:19:26.49\00:19:29.96 fast a program. So it's a new program that we're launching try to take a different angle 00:19:29.96\00:19:34.97 on weight control. Actually looking at biblical principles that have a bearing on help is 00:19:34.97\00:19:40.74 not just optimized. Weight but optimize our health overall. And it's actually a weight 00:19:40.74\00:19:45.78 loss program. We're not telling people you're going to lose 50 or 100 pounds and a 00:19:45.78\00:19:49.45 few weeks and not that anyone would say that. But the point is, if you change your outlook 00:19:49.45\00:19:55.79 and the folks in the secular research community like Jason Lewis, they they call this 00:19:55.79\00:20:00.16 approach to treatment acceptance and commitment therapy act. What 00:20:00.16\00:20:06.94 they're trying to help people do is to beat themselves, as we would say as Christians. We're 00:20:06.94\00:20:12.94 trying to treat other people that you read through their their research to the talking 00:20:12.94\00:20:16.08 about loving kindness, how people should treat themselves with loving kindness. And 00:20:16.08\00:20:21.25 that's the scariest thing. All the societal things they get programmed into people who are 00:20:21.25\00:20:25.22 carrying extra weight. They start looking in the mirror and say why am I so bad? I'm 00:20:25.22\00:20:29.62 disgusting. I'm no good. trying to change that whole narrative and give people some 00:20:29.62\00:20:36.36 practical help. The free 00:21:04.66\00:21:10.50 program handouts and free virtual program support beginning February 4, 2023, you 00:21:10.50\00:21:16.27 could download the outline. I did it. So I have in front of me. We're going to be gone along 00:21:16.27\00:21:20.81 with that and that will give you some not just saying say I miss that. You say, well, 00:21:20.81\00:21:26.28 let's look at this particular part of the program. So that's your outline for the program 00:21:26.28\00:21:31.02 tonight. We're going to follow along. If you're driving. Pull up before you do that Don't 00:21:31.02\00:21:37.69 try to download anything while you're driving. But what I'm hearing you say is. They've 00:21:37.69\00:21:43.33 noticed that this negative shaming, if I could use that term is also done by 00:21:43.33\00:21:51.54 Christians. Unfortunately, even in school kids tease him. >> With this is a fascinating 00:21:51.54\00:21:58.85 Angela kids as young as 5 years of age when they actually 00:21:58.85\00:22:03.15 research it. They have a preference. 4, piers, that are, quote, Finner. So there's 00:22:03.15\00:22:10.49 already a presence that were imparting this societal e and then on top of this, our 00:22:10.49\00:22:15.46 society, our culture that we're in today is really geared to help people gain weight. I mean, 00:22:15.46\00:22:20.47 it's a real crazy environment. And if you look at, you know, the food industry, if you look 00:22:20.47\00:22:25.27 at the, you know, accessibility of calories, if you look at all the labor saving devices, you 00:22:25.27\00:22:31.55 know, so we don't have to do the work that our forefathers did. Write my son, like one of 00:22:31.55\00:22:37.79 my pet peeves that told us my wife. >> Why would anybody put a 00:22:37.79\00:22:42.82 motor on a bicycle >> Just get a moped or get a scooter. But 00:22:42.82\00:22:49.63 bicycles, which I was being raised. They quite heavily. >> Nowadays, you can buy a 00:22:49.63\00:22:55.70 bike that has a battery that go 30 miles 60 miles. It's tense to defeat the purpose. 00:22:55.70\00:23:00.91 And I let you said a lot of but the cause energy saving devices or labor say they were 00:23:00.91\00:23:07.18 out whatever. But you know, that's exactly the point. It so. 00:23:07.18\00:23:09.52 >> So really we're in this environment were the majority of Americans are overweight or 00:23:09.52\00:23:13.49 obese by about but a 2 thirds. And so the issue becomes this is not abnormal. This is 00:23:13.49\00:23:22.26 actually normal. So why are we stigmatizing something that our culture is fostering and 00:23:22.26\00:23:27.40 why are we giving this messaging? But at the same time, 00:23:27.40\00:23:32.71 there's physical complications. We see a lot of people in our practices that likely wouldn't 00:23:32.71\00:23:37.15 be there wouldn't have the problems to the extent they do it. If they could even lose a 00:23:37.15\00:23:39.75 little bit of weight, they don't have to have this magic number. We want to throw out the weight 00:23:39.75\00:23:45.39 charts right now. We can talk about that. The program, if you want, but there's a lot to 00:23:45.39\00:23:47.62 talk about. >> Well, why should Christian churches be motivated 00:23:47.62\00:23:56.33 to 2 have will help those in the community that have weight issues, challenges. We know 00:23:56.33\00:24:00.37 it's interesting where we're talking about let me just turn my Isaiah 58, you know, with 00:24:00.37\00:24:05.91 the program's called fast State. And John, you kind of set the stage for this. But 00:24:05.91\00:24:10.15 the reason we call fast 8 is because it's 8 different fasts. They have a biblical 00:24:10.15\00:24:17.49 basis. and those fast I should mention this people think a fast and it's a fast over 8 00:24:17.49\00:24:21.82 weeks. And that's what the program is about. And I tell people I'm introducing you 00:24:21.82\00:24:26.73 think going to be really bad. One fast is bad enough. And it keeps adding a fast once a 00:24:26.73\00:24:32.73 week for 8 weeks. I'm going to be What doesn't work that way? Because I see a 58 with so 00:24:32.73\00:24:37.04 fascinating. Speaking about fasting, it's not speaking about just what you do or 00:24:37.04\00:24:41.58 don't do with your diet. Isaiah 58 fascinate with Jews. They're fasting, having just 00:24:41.58\00:24:49.42 pick it up. and Isaiah 58 >> Verso let's start first 3. Okay. 00:24:49.42\00:25:00.86 Okay. Why have we fasted? >> They say and you've not seen their complaining to God, 00:25:00.86\00:25:04.47 why have we afflicted our souls and you take no notice instead of God, then the rest 00:25:04.47\00:25:09.47 of this chapter saying, well, here you needed to leave off a more of this or you need to 00:25:09.47\00:25:14.78 eat more of this? No, it has nothing to do with that. He's talking about how what they 00:25:14.78\00:25:19.98 were doing while they were called as they were exploiting others. They were they were 00:25:19.98\00:25:25.39 mistreating others. So at that at the high heart of Isaiah 58 in this this biblical chapters 00:25:25.39\00:25:30.53 where the pinnacle chapters and fasting is it. We've got to be concerned about. Others 00:25:30.53\00:25:34.30 are going to be ministering to others. And I say it was a Christian We have all these 00:25:34.30\00:25:38.97 people that are suffering with weight related issues. Our society has fed the shame. The 00:25:38.97\00:25:47.28 guilt. And as a church, we have something to say So when we say something, we've made 00:25:47.28\00:25:51.91 it really easy. It's a virtual program we're launching at this weekend. And if he can 00:25:51.91\00:25:55.12 jump on, no one's got to see you doesn't matter whether you're 600 pounds, like some 00:25:55.12\00:25:58.79 of my patients have it well with working people over 600 pounds, 00:25:58.79\00:26:03.19 I could come into churches and say you're all fan. You know, I can tell by looking at you, none 00:26:03.19\00:26:07.20 of, you know, even tips the scale. And, you know, 500, I'm like an I bond and say But it's 00:26:07.20\00:26:13.70 just it's just a message that I think the Christian Church needs to embrace and try to 00:26:13.70\00:26:16.77 support people on this jury. And because if you look versus 1, 5, the talks about, you 00:26:16.77\00:26:23.08 know, just mentions fasting in in a way so you can break down. 00:26:23.08\00:26:25.75 >> Those 8 as we go along. That's a church. We have the 00:26:25.75\00:26:32.25 health message. >> Yet we have so many overweight people, 00:26:32.25\00:26:36.59 including me. >> But this so many overweight people obese, I would say. >> But here's the 00:26:36.59\00:26:41.40 first place to started. Remember, I mentioned throwing out you know, the body 00:26:41.40\00:26:46.27 composition charts throwing out the New Year. This toy supposed to weigh this amount. And the 00:26:46.27\00:26:48.37 reason I say that. So, you know, I work with so many people over 00:26:48.37\00:26:55.31 the years. could be doing great. I mean, they may have lost 100 pounds 200 pounds with the 00:26:55.31\00:26:59.05 people of lost lots of weight and they may still be, quote, overweight. If we put these 00:26:59.05\00:27:04.05 arbitrary ideas on what you have to weigh up, it's just unattainable for some people. 00:27:04.05\00:27:09.32 One of the things we've been looking at recently talk a little bit about some of the 00:27:09.32\00:27:12.39 research on prenatal influences, just bad it is. >> Yeah, that is 00:27:12.39\00:27:18.40 amazing. How they've done research that shows that if. When your mother was pregnant 00:27:18.40\00:27:24.41 with you, for instance, if she had diabetes or just station UL diabetes. Fat. Predisposes the 00:27:24.41\00:27:34.28 baby actually predetermine is basically that the baby is going to have weight issues 00:27:34.28\00:27:37.65 when they get older because and some of the background of why that is if someone has 00:27:37.65\00:27:46.59 diabetes, as you well know, their blood sugar levels tend to be higher rating. The 00:27:46.59\00:27:51.73 blood, the sugar in the blood passes through the placenta into the baby. So the baby's 00:27:51.73\00:27:57.91 blood is is high getting high blood sugar as well. But insulin from the mother cannot 00:27:57.91\00:28:04.35 pass through the placenta into the baby. And so the babys own pancreas house to overwork 00:28:04.35\00:28:09.65 make more insulin. To take care of the blood sugar that the babies being exposed to. 00:28:09.65\00:28:16.59 And that predisposes the baby actually to being overweight later in life late in the the 00:28:16.59\00:28:25.07 teen years. I mean, it was some huge percentage. >> Yeah, it's 00:28:25.07\00:28:30.51 not like the difference between being normal weight and up to 35 BMI of up to 35 instead of, you 00:28:30.51\00:28:35.74 know, normal 25 or something. It's just amazing. The influences this has and then 00:28:35.74\00:28:40.82 the on the flip side, babies who are very small, too small for their gestational age. 00:28:40.82\00:28:48.96 >> Born very tiny. Not because of maybe their parents were very petite. And they're just, 00:28:48.96\00:28:54.86 you know, on genetically small. But because of lack of good nutrition. When the 00:28:54.86\00:29:00.67 mothers pregnant. The babies who survive, they also will tend to be overweight because 00:29:00.67\00:29:08.18 and they they think it has to do with a thrifty. Gene. So that when the babies, you 00:29:08.18\00:29:13.82 know, when the fetus is being exposed to if they have this thrifty gene, that makes their 00:29:13.82\00:29:20.92 body. Conserve energy and store energy better then when they're older, they tend to be 00:29:20.92\00:29:29.30 overweight. So it's pretty think they may even be a small way in the mother's womb. And 00:29:29.30\00:29:35.67 >> now to small. Yeah, all. But then it boomer. It just goes 00:29:35.67\00:29:41.21 into them to being overweight. And the whole reason for talking about all this is what did you 00:29:41.21\00:29:43.45 have to do with? Life in your mother's through. >> And it 00:29:43.45\00:29:49.45 reminds me of John 9, you know, we know that story where the disciples they see this guy, he 00:29:49.45\00:29:55.56 was blind from birth, OK? And just like our culture, we tend to blame the victims through. 00:29:55.56\00:29:59.29 Okay. They were doing the same thing. They said who sent, you know, was that this guy? Yeah, 00:29:59.29\00:30:05.23 or as parents, you know, and was not neither. You know it. It got 00:30:05.23\00:30:11.74 is going to work through this for his glory. I wish we had the same attitude with weight. The 00:30:11.74\00:30:16.58 God is going to work through these things for his glory and it doesn't mean at the end of 00:30:16.58\00:30:19.11 the day that everyone's going to look the same. >> I like that. I 00:30:19.11\00:30:23.39 want to bring that up because we we were reading through your wonderful outline. and I was 00:30:23.39\00:30:27.26 thinking, well, this is great sermon material, but isn't this program on health? And I 00:30:27.26\00:30:32.03 get the connection now and I saw that in there. How you outline says we tend to blame 00:30:32.03\00:30:35.40 people for their condition and a lot right away says it wasn't his fault. It wasn't as 00:30:35.40\00:30:40.57 parents fault. You know, but the glory of God might be in the field. Yeah. So what I'm 00:30:40.57\00:30:47.28 hearing you say then make the connection just my passes. My coming in. Now you're saying 00:30:47.28\00:30:52.35 that people are sometimes in the predispose position, but it's not. It's not possibility 00:30:52.35\00:30:58.25 for God. I could do some amazing things in the situation in okay. 00:30:58.25\00:31:02.82 This one. Is that Yeah, definitely. >> And again, but the outcome, the outcome, the 00:31:02.82\00:31:08.26 end point is not necessarily what we would like. So let me just illustrate this way. So 00:31:08.26\00:31:12.97 years ago, I was the medical director of a large hospital based weight loss program. And 00:31:12.97\00:31:17.27 I see these people do great. I mean, they're losing weight. They're trimming down, but 00:31:17.27\00:31:21.34 they had some artificial idea of what they should wait maybe with their sister weight. 00:31:21.34\00:31:26.51 Maybe as with they way when they were 12. I don't know what it 00:31:26.51\00:31:29.25 was, but they have this idea that although I'm starting at 300 pounds, I need to get down 00:31:29.25\00:31:34.59 to one 40 and they get down to one 80. They've lost 120 pounds. Yes, but they can't get rid of 00:31:34.59\00:31:39.63 those last 40 pounds in the end up throwing in the towel. All they say what and people are 00:31:39.63\00:31:44.47 still telling them. Well, you look good, but if you just losing a little bit more weight, 00:31:44.47\00:31:47.00 you're doing great with Ake. Can't because whatever's on with their metabolism. What a great 00:31:47.00\00:31:52.51 way for them is one, 80. That's an ideal weight by ICE. Yeah. And we do. And as a 00:31:52.51\00:31:58.01 society, we have trouble with that. And we've told people that's not OK if you don't 00:31:58.01\00:32:02.65 look a certain way, that's not okay. You can be healthy and fit and decrease all your risk 00:32:02.65\00:32:10.83 of disease. Instead, these people were kicking him off to the side of the road. They're 00:32:10.83\00:32:13.13 getting discouraged and giving up the site. My brother, went on this weight loss program on 00:32:13.13\00:32:16.36 television. Often he package meals and everything. And he lost good. What on 40 pounds. 00:32:16.36\00:32:24.94 he's on his to lose. >> Another 20? >> I think if run great, 00:32:24.94\00:32:31.78 many of you right? Very good point. And he did because he actually he looked a little too 00:32:31.78\00:32:40.52 thin. Haha. But he looked, you know, he wanted to lose more your body says no, that's enough 00:32:40.52\00:32:46.43 threat. Yeah. I mean, for his age to 60 plus years old, I mean, so I see what you're 00:32:46.43\00:32:51.17 saying. >> But also hear you saying I think this is something 00:32:51.17\00:32:56.40 that I want to do. Viewers and listeners to grab don't allow society to determine the 00:32:56.40\00:33:01.14 optimal fully online yet. And that's usually, you know, movies and the Internet had 00:33:01.14\00:33:06.58 and the billboards and just society, period. We tend come press people into a 00:33:06.58\00:33:12.65 pre-determined mold. >> It's a almost quiet. You know, as you 00:33:12.65\00:33:19.53 know, when you get there and then we have these charts because I've seen you mentioned 00:33:19.53\00:33:24.93 BMI body mass index is proper direct. I've seen these charts and he said that from country to 00:33:24.93\00:33:30.37 country, BMI, ferries. So the question is, it says it is it something that one country's 00:33:30.37\00:33:36.08 genetic 8 exposed to that another one isn't or somebody different. Why do we have these 00:33:36.08\00:33:40.22 variables have enough to something you looked into? >> It's an interesting 00:33:40.22\00:33:44.52 question it brings back another point and that is not only are 00:33:44.52\00:33:49.66 there these early life history factors, both intrauterine and But also this genetic factors. 00:33:49.66\00:33:55.63 There's body frame factors. There are societal factors. I mean, the kind of ethnic 00:33:55.63\00:33:59.53 differences in foods dietary, this is it. It's all these things. Our determinants of our 00:33:59.53\00:34:06.74 weight and many of these determinants are not based on personal choice. So we can't 00:34:06.74\00:34:13.92 just look at someone size and say you're not a good Christian unit, you know, using good will 00:34:13.92\00:34:17.72 power. We met one of the thing and you can this relates to question. I've had multiple 00:34:17.72\00:34:21.32 people who wanted to be involved in health ministry in their 00:34:21.32\00:34:23.39 communities, their societies, they've they've come to me and they said, well, I can't do this 00:34:23.39\00:34:26.73 because they weigh too much. And my message is always been just go ahead and do it. K because 00:34:26.73\00:34:35.64 the problem is none of us are going to be perfect in every respect, OK, so if we have a 00:34:35.64\00:34:41.04 desire to minister minister and part of ministry, sometimes the 00:34:41.04\00:34:45.38 Lord has us on that journey to bring other people with us and to bless us as well. I that wow. 00:34:45.38\00:34:52.75 >> Tell us about this online program called Fast 8. What is that? That's an interesting 00:34:52.75\00:34:59.76 one. Interesting title past 8. So it's. >> It's an 8 week 00:34:59.76\00:35:04.90 program involving 8 different fast soon. As we mentioned earlier, it's not just that 00:35:04.90\00:35:10.51 we're going to say, well, each week you got to eat less and less of, you know, fast more 00:35:10.51\00:35:14.08 from this. And so the first one is actually the first the first fast is a what we call the 00:35:14.08\00:35:24.09 leaf stem and flower and there's another option we'll talk about 00:35:24.09\00:35:31.13 as well. first of all. We want to describe what leaf stem and flowers, vegetables are on. So 00:35:31.13\00:35:42.37 leaf. le flour leaf vegetables, anything that's a leaf spinach. Callers, kale, let us 00:35:42.37\00:35:54.05 anything like that stem vegetables, celery, broccoli, of course, would be a stem and 00:35:54.05\00:35:58.79 a flower or vegetable asparagus. And then flour, of course, like 00:35:58.79\00:36:04.69 broccoli cauliflower. That kind of thing. So the from that? No, those are those vegetables are 00:36:04.69\00:36:10.33 some of the highest. Density nutrition. Wise with the lowest calories. Very, very 00:36:10.33\00:36:18.91 healthy for you. And we're encouraging people to at least one day. One meal of each day. 00:36:18.91\00:36:28.08 I like to start their meal with at least one serving of the are 00:36:28.08\00:36:34.62 a vegetable. >> Yeah. And the interesting thing is this this is this program is designed so 00:36:34.62\00:36:37.46 that no one fails the program. Yeah. So we talk about what a serving is. You can look 00:36:37.46\00:36:44.20 online and on a serving. Some people says that, you know, cup of this match to baller or 00:36:44.20\00:36:48.94 a half cup some Ivan, someone sources the 2 cups, but we see a serving as whatever you 00:36:48.94\00:36:53.78 decide to So if you want to just take a bite of celery and that's going to you're serving 00:36:53.78\00:36:59.38 that someone well into it, you know what kind what kind of difference is economic. But 00:36:59.38\00:37:02.58 what we're trying to do is we're trying to make a program where 00:37:02.58\00:37:06.92 people do it's not onerous. It's not so hard that you're going to fail and we're working with 00:37:06.92\00:37:10.93 people. And this is the first thing that we introduced the first week. Is using this more 00:37:10.93\00:37:16.33 flour if as we have several other options of people said, just can't eat vegetables some 00:37:16.33\00:37:19.03 other options that we've got for them. But everybody can do something. We say the only 00:37:19.03\00:37:25.14 people they're not successful are the ones who drop out of the 8 week program. Okay. We just 00:37:25.14\00:37:28.94 want people to stick with the program. I'm Anna. We're going to work with them and you're 00:37:28.94\00:37:31.78 you sign. I signed couple Stuart. I. >> And I like what 00:37:31.78\00:37:36.12 you said also about what I read. You can fast for him, greasy foods fried foods by that coming 00:37:36.12\00:37:47.30 up this what doctors want you just mentioned. And if you if you download that, if you 00:37:47.30\00:37:50.57 download the program, I'm looking at the table here. >> It is outlined in the 8 00:37:50.57\00:37:55.54 sections Table. One 2023 program overview and as the beginning 00:37:55.54\00:38:02.74 date of program week. So if you look at February 5. So this is a live program today is for a 00:38:02.74\00:38:10.99 second. So you've got 3 more days to start this And unlike what you just said, the 00:38:10.99\00:38:14.12 encouraging thing is the only people that don't succeed are those who drop prop out. So I'm 00:38:14.12\00:38:19.09 not talking about lowering my body index. You might be surprised. I stepped on the 00:38:19.09\00:38:24.70 scale one to nothing. So my with And I thought since I stopped being very, very active, I play 00:38:24.70\00:38:31.74 basketball in Hawaii, which is something I really did high energy. Yeah. And I thought of 00:38:31.74\00:38:33.94 getting a little, you know. Not to check and started getting I 00:38:33.94\00:38:38.78 was that I like that. And I said, I don't like show. Judge, I showed you get becoming a man. 00:38:38.78\00:38:48.69 I want to haha. No secrets in >> It is lot like something good. funny. So you don't have 00:38:48.69\00:38:58.13 to be. >> I well, this tells you don't have to according to the 00:38:58.13\00:39:03.04 world stands. If you just want to improve yourself right? So leave stem and flour fast. If 00:39:03.04\00:39:09.34 you download that, you see it right in front of the end. I don't know if we we will. 00:39:09.34\00:39:14.42 >> haven't mentioned this yet. I'm sure it may come out later, but I just wanted to 00:39:14.42\00:39:16.28 mention is too, as far as this program. And this is introducing 00:39:16.28\00:39:24.33 several different things that you can choose to do. You may not choose to do you know, just 00:39:24.33\00:39:29.83 stick with all 8 of these things for the rest of your life. But its introduction, we want you to 00:39:29.83\00:39:34.94 pick at least one or 2 things that you will stay with for the rest of your life. Optimum 00:39:34.94\00:39:42.28 weight loss actually comes one week shoes, a program that we can live with that we it's not 00:39:42.28\00:39:49.78 just a crash diet that you go on for 6 weeks or 8 weeks or whatever. And then all I can't 00:39:49.78\00:39:54.69 live with this, right? So you lose weight. If you don't stay with that, then pretty soon 00:39:54.69\00:40:01.16 you gain the weight Where is this is something we're wanting you to find lifestyle 00:40:01.16\00:40:05.47 changes that you can make that you're happy to live with the rest of your life. Mike and 00:40:05.47\00:40:10.34 and then as it is, you work that into your lifestyle and you work with okay with that. 00:40:10.34\00:40:15.38 Well, then you may say, hey, you know what, I could do another one of those. Now, you 00:40:15.38\00:40:19.61 know it. You implement another one in and it's not a a quick fix. It's a lifestyle change. 00:40:19.61\00:40:27.66 Over time that really adds up. And it's something you stick with. End and you can really 00:40:27.66\00:40:35.70 become successful. >> You know, that sounds more sustainable, 00:40:35.70\00:40:38.13 then buying food is pre package, but he's not going to pre packaged food for rest of your 00:40:38.13\00:40:45.67 Nutley. Okay. Let least them and I know Chad in parenthesis there, herbal Jello option. Oh, 00:40:45.67\00:40:54.28 yeah. >> Yes. So for those people that are determined not to eat vegetables, that mouthful 00:40:54.28\00:40:58.39 of a seller, that plate of solar is too much. We do have an herbal This is something that we 00:40:58.39\00:41:02.96 worked with in one of our at Venice lifestyle centers some years ago. It was using to 00:41:02.96\00:41:09.43 sizable plant, fibers, choir gum and cilium seed husks. I know this is just sounding 00:41:09.43\00:41:16.24 mouth watering and But both of these compounds actually help to stabilize blood sugar. 00:41:16.24\00:41:19.77 We're using it in patients with diabetes, but also has a set. Heidi inducing helps you 00:41:19.77\00:41:25.28 to feel more full. You can eat this at the beginning of the meal instead of the one 00:41:25.28\00:41:30.82 serving of of least m in flour vegetable. If you can stomach 00:41:30.82\00:41:35.26 the bench. >> is it too soon to You you know, you can one day you can have the vegetables and 00:41:35.26\00:41:40.70 on the day at the Karnes City. And Joe, we have one recipe in there. There's other recipes 00:41:40.70\00:41:43.23 that have been used. >> And my wife is saying we may want to 00:41:43.23\00:41:47.64 refine that. Think this recipe many this tweaking. This is a work in progress, OK? They've 00:41:47.64\00:41:53.34 worked with management issues for over 30 years, but we've never used this particular 00:41:53.34\00:42:00.88 approach. It's a new approaches. 8 fasting model, OK? And so we're we've been inviting 00:42:00.88\00:42:03.75 people to join this program that starts the weekend of February 4th and 5th. That's 00:42:03.75\00:42:08.62 this coming weekend and that we're doing a live video presentation Saturday night at 00:42:08.62\00:42:12.43 07:00PM Eastern Time folks can jump on for that. That program. 00:42:12.43\00:42:18.93 It's all the information is right there. Through that time was healing insights website and 00:42:18.93\00:42:22.00 then also. Handout. We're going to continue to update. So there you go through what we're 00:42:22.00\00:42:28.24 trying to get your feedback. People going through the program to say, well, this is 00:42:28.24\00:42:31.35 not clear when was looking at some of it saying, you know, we've got this is the best 00:42:31.35\00:42:36.75 recipe. Don't give a better recipe that got another one, too. So anyway, we're going to 00:42:36.75\00:42:41.26 it's interactive and we're we're rolling this out both for people 00:42:41.26\00:42:47.23 who need it, but also because we want to work together with people go on this journey 00:42:47.23\00:42:50.50 together, not just cost free. Absolutely Foley for all. I think that So so can I put that 00:42:50.50\00:42:59.54 on my credit card? You actually speaking your credit card. timeless healing insights geared 00:42:59.54\00:43:05.38 to putting up free resources. But you guys know ministry. we do appreciate people who support 00:43:05.38\00:43:10.75 us because people who were taking out their credit cards and making donations to time 00:43:10.75\00:43:15.49 was healing insights. I wouldn't be here, you know, honestly, so, 00:43:15.49\00:43:21.06 but but it's free. We don't expect anything. But we are glad that people are partnering with 00:43:21.06\00:43:25.87 his finance a man. We're going to encourage that before system. But just before you asked the 00:43:25.87\00:43:29.80 question. >> You know, I I came up with the thought I had on my 00:43:29.80\00:43:32.71 mind a moment ago. Yeah, OK, the program, the fast 8. Why did you choose a in not 9, 4, not 00:43:32.71\00:43:44.75 7. >> it's an interesting question. kidding with my wife 00:43:44.75\00:43:47.32 here. You know, the last time we around we're talking about we've got a number of 30 day 00:43:47.32\00:43:51.43 programs ounces or about 4 week programs. And that's when I was in a week wrote say the 00:43:51.43\00:43:56.83 next time they call us up there, they might get worried. They're going to come out with 00:43:56.83\00:43:59.63 a 16 week program, OK, doubling it. No. But the reason for 8 00:43:59.63\00:44:05.34 weeks, you know, we've done many programs over the years. Community programs and for many 00:44:05.34\00:44:09.91 people, it seems like the magic program like the summer between 4 and 8 weeks. As far as what 00:44:09.91\00:44:15.58 you can get people to commit to say this is a, you know, definable block of time. It's 00:44:15.58\00:44:21.32 not like forever, but I could do this, but it's got to be long enough to make some significant 00:44:21.32\00:44:24.79 progress Cent. For we programs. These intensive programs for 00:44:24.79\00:44:30.43 diabetes for high blood pressure with weight loss. And some of the things that we're exploring 00:44:30.43\00:44:34.54 like Sonia said, we wanted to expose people to a number of different fasting techniques 00:44:34.54\00:44:37.91 over a period of time and then say at the end of 8 weeks, which of these things can you 00:44:37.91\00:44:43.78 stick with? We want you to try to stick with at least one or 2. That's the goal see an to 00:44:43.78\00:44:51.85 the talks you know, >> actually from an experience of a a someone we know came to 00:44:51.85\00:44:58.63 a came to you. David in is asking advice on. Lifestyle and weight loss and everything 00:44:58.63\00:45:07.14 in. They had previously tried. Going on a, you know, total vegan diet from from just 00:45:07.14\00:45:15.71 late. The regular American. Diane, just totally jumping in full but not. When people do 00:45:15.71\00:45:25.32 that, you may be successful for a while, but unless you have support and a lot of 00:45:25.32\00:45:27.59 stuff. Help oftentimes people don't stick with it because it's too overwhelming. There's 00:45:27.59\00:45:34.60 too many changes and they don't know how to deal with it. Yeah. 00:45:34.60\00:45:37.87 And she said she's told me this several times. She said your husband told me. Don't try to be 00:45:37.87\00:45:42.40 vegan. Don't be vegan. Just make one change. That you can stick with for the rest of your life 00:45:42.40\00:45:47.28 and start there. And she's like I can do that. And so she picked one thing. That she 00:45:47.28\00:45:56.32 could decide to live with the rest of her life for us. She said it was a switching from 00:45:56.32\00:46:02.26 cow's milk to a plant based milk. I'm just so I can do that. And she did that. And 00:46:02.26\00:46:09.30 then eventually she started making other changes once that was part of her last ounce 00:46:09.30\00:46:13.70 like, you know, I would could do something else. And you know it 00:46:13.70\00:46:18.07 today. She is centrally. I'm totally plant based has lost. Like I said, like 90 pounds in 00:46:18.07\00:46:25.38 the last you know, too, lest little over 2 years. to post almost like a Daniel Diet high. 00:46:25.38\00:46:29.72 >> Well, the Daniel tight as one of the fans from this program. 00:46:29.72\00:46:32.45 So we do have the Daniel Fast and so different get. But it's it's these are options. So 00:46:32.45\00:46:38.59 someone may not be ready for Daniel Fast, we give them. This is the last fast that we 00:46:38.59\00:46:43.43 introduced in the program. So this is a, you know, total plant based diet. The Daniel Fast, 00:46:43.43\00:46:47.17 just water and plant based diet. Some folks are not ready for it. So we say at least to the Daniel 00:46:47.17\00:46:52.27 Fast, that annual did all his life and some Christians say what was the Daniel Fast? He 00:46:52.27\00:46:58.28 did all He excluded the unclean food to some level cause on 00:46:58.28\00:47:00.68 clean foods. So we talk about that in the program. So that's a little bit more manageable for 00:47:00.68\00:47:06.15 folks who don't take away their their red meat in there. And there's some of their fish and 00:47:06.15\00:47:09.52 things like Some people they get mad. They 2 rows. Why you're doing this is not the 00:47:09.52\00:47:15.90 ideal diet. You have to meet people where they're at true and we're trying to help 00:47:15.90\00:47:19.77 people do things like Sonia said that they can embrace and stick with and they may end 00:47:19.77\00:47:23.41 up. At the very place you are. I think they should have been all along, but they may not. 00:47:23.41\00:47:30.11 And that's OK, it's a journey. >> Yeah, it is. But can fast and keep the weight off. 00:47:30.11\00:47:36.25 >> It can fast. They were talking about not fasting, that you're doing some kind of 00:47:36.25\00:47:41.56 extreme caloric restriction. Yeah, but you can stick with for the rest of your life. 00:47:41.56\00:47:44.79 We're talking about fasting techniques that you can do long term. So all these 8 00:47:44.79\00:47:50.50 fasting techniques can actually be done long-term. We're not do 00:47:50.50\00:47:53.50 it. I've done things with water only fastened on this. This fasting regimen doesn't use 00:47:53.50\00:47:56.97 that. We don't use any of those medically supervised faster things we're looking at 00:47:56.97\00:48:03.14 fasting techniques that you can use long term. This would all faster. What about someone 00:48:03.14\00:48:06.31 with diabetes? That is one of the caveats, right? Sonia? Yes. 00:48:06.31\00:48:15.56 >> Especially with the any kind health issue, as a good example, we encourage you to 00:48:15.56\00:48:21.10 work with your physician anytime you're making any significant 00:48:21.10\00:48:24.73 lifestyle changes. Because when you do that, it's going to affect your blood sugar levels 00:48:24.73\00:48:29.47 and your need to work with your physician to perhaps change in medication, dosages center. 00:48:29.47\00:48:35.51 >> Now, before we go to the next question of the next week, when remind our viewers, 00:48:35.51\00:48:38.41 you can send your questions in. You can e-mail those to lies at TV or text them to 6, 00:48:38.41\00:48:48.32 1, 8, 2, 2, 8, 39. 75. Send your medical questions and maybe about what you've heard 00:48:48.32\00:48:53.46 so far a week one, we have 7 more weeks to cover, which I know we're going to cover this 00:48:53.46\00:48:56.87 said either in not in this first hour, but definitely in the second hour. But I'm I'm 00:48:56.87\00:49:03.37 really excited about the fact that it body can be involved in the fasting. I just want to 00:49:03.37\00:49:07.41 point this out. You mean fasting? Are you reading this that we meals? That is one of 00:49:07.41\00:49:14.08 the fast. So we roll that out. >> That's actually fast that fast. Number 2. Okay. Well, 00:49:14.08\00:49:22.56 no, I take that back. That's fast. That's coming later fast. Number 2 is I don't want 00:49:22.56\00:49:25.43 to go in order or whatever, but fasting at the end at the end of that, so fast. Number 2 00:49:25.43\00:49:33.34 is fasting at the so is fasting at the end of your meals. But 00:49:33.34\00:49:37.11 it's what he's talking about. His not overeating. So quitting when you have had enough rather 00:49:37.11\00:49:42.34 than continuing to sit there and eat little nibble. Nibble nibble. And you know, which is 00:49:42.34\00:49:46.95 easy to do, especially if you're mindlessly eating and if say 00:49:46.95\00:49:55.39 you're watching a something. you know, and you just continue to sit there and eat and eat. And 00:49:55.39\00:50:00.80 before you realize it, you've eaten way too much and you you know, I too much. That's not 00:50:00.80\00:50:06.23 that's not healthy. And of course, it's adding extra calories that you don't need. So 00:50:06.23\00:50:12.24 being conscious of what you're eating being aware when you're. 00:50:12.24\00:50:18.75 When you've had enough, some of the things that can help with that one is to not be too fast 00:50:18.75\00:50:23.99 as if week inhaler food, so to speak. We it's easy to eat way too many calories before we 00:50:23.99\00:50:30.83 realize that we're even falls. So that's one thing that can help. And the other thing that 00:50:30.83\00:50:36.70 can make a big difference is if we still stay well hydrated, if 00:50:36.70\00:50:39.80 you're drinking enough water between meals. It helps you not to overeat at meals. Because 00:50:39.80\00:50:47.41 your body misinterprets first as hunger. So if you're dehydrated, you will tend to eat more. 00:50:47.41\00:50:54.18 >> want to grab that, OK, if you if you're not hydrated in on that, your body tends to 00:50:54.18\00:51:01.22 interpret that as as hunger. I need to treat water. I've been 00:51:01.22\00:51:10.90 telling >> Has opposed water. I mean, do you drink your water? >> You know, water always 00:51:10.90\00:51:14.14 teams going 03:00PM program. >> Maybe I should be in the Senate. Want to treat walking. 00:51:14.14\00:51:19.57 Just kidding with that. But no, really, you don't think about it until because the one 00:51:19.57\00:51:24.98 with sitting on the said just kind of give you a program. here 00:51:24.98\00:51:30.29 that is that's my terminology. I can't get up and walk over refrigerated pickup juice or so 00:51:30.29\00:51:36.32 to. Yeah. For some the lemonade or something like that. So you it tends to just satisfy when 00:51:36.32\00:51:42.83 it's right in front of us. I really the finish that the finish that. And that's why we 00:51:42.83\00:51:48.14 recommend at least we and we always try to practice. >> If we're going out. Away 00:51:48.14\00:51:52.84 from home, we take water with us. Because you can't get enough water to satisfy your 00:51:52.84\00:51:59.85 thirst from a high school drinking fountain. And furthermore, it usually 00:51:59.85\00:52:03.35 doesn't taste good because foreign aid water so get filtered water. Have a filter 00:52:03.35\00:52:08.42 in your house or get the reverse osmosis refills from Wal-Mart or 00:52:08.42\00:52:13.96 whatever. A lot of Wal-Mart stores have Ro filter stations where you can get very 00:52:13.96\00:52:17.63 reasonably. Take your water with you. So that you can get and you know, stay well, hydrated. You 00:52:17.63\00:52:25.17 know, so what does the Bible bases for fasting when we talk about fasting is so many ways 00:52:25.17\00:52:28.44 you can do it. Yeah. Yeah. There's multiple Bible, rational for fast and we've mentioned the 00:52:28.44\00:52:33.52 Daniel Fast. That's Daniel Chapter one. in Daniel Chapter one, the most Bible students 00:52:33.52\00:52:38.05 still the background to be Daniel. >> And his friends were 00:52:38.05\00:52:41.09 taken captive to Babylon and they're basically put into a situation where their offer, the 00:52:41.09\00:52:47.50 so-called best food that can be offered to its food from the king's table right. Daniel 00:52:47.50\00:52:51.87 realizes that this is not the best diet. He's been enlightened 00:52:51.87\00:52:58.24 by guide the eye. And so he says, you know, I'm not going eat this food and he fully 00:52:58.24\00:53:06.65 appeals to get a different died in that diet has been identified as the first clinical trial 00:53:06.65\00:53:10.82 dietary clinical trial in history. There's a debate in the New England Journal of Medicine 00:53:10.82\00:53:14.76 with journals years ago. talking about what was the first clinical trial and these 00:53:14.76\00:53:21.96 experts came to the conclusion it was Daniel Chapter one. But were Daniel went on This plant 00:53:21.96\00:53:26.77 based diet and water didn't have the wind and the fine. That's Delicacies as the King 00:53:26.77\00:53:33.54 of Babylon and at the end of those 10 days. His health with superior, that was the 00:53:33.54\00:53:40.18 assessment. So, yeah, so there's all kinds of things that lay the 00:53:40.18\00:53:43.62 foundation for fasting and there's other scriptures that we sometimes go through and in 00:53:43.62\00:53:47.96 Proverbs and other places speaking about, I would put it this way. The basic message that 00:53:47.96\00:53:54.46 we're emphasizing his message of true temperance. We were talking with people about this 00:53:54.46\00:53:58.50 whole idea of avoiding things that are harmful and doing things that are good in 00:53:58.50\00:54:03.30 moderation. And I tell him the good news is God has promised us as one of the gifts of the 00:54:03.30\00:54:08.58 spirit in Galatians 5. The temperance is one of those gifts on like we're calling 00:54:08.58\00:54:12.35 you to do something that God hasn't already provided to give 00:54:12.35\00:54:20.16 you success in Temperance. like that. mean, I'm I'm thinking about that. That's really good 00:54:20.16\00:54:23.93 application. >> The Daniel Diet and he just did it for 10 days. 00:54:23.93\00:54:29.53 right. And it was another low cost program. That's what if I do this for 10 days and see how 00:54:29.53\00:54:33.90 it's going. >> I think I keep going for the rest of the time 00:54:33.90\00:54:39.81 finance and Daniel did, too. I mean, he didn't didn't just he didn't stop. After 10 days. 00:54:39.81\00:54:46.08 can, too. But they can see the difference in 10 days. >> So you know, we didn't get 00:54:46.08\00:54:51.22 the rest of the story because the Bible doesn't include that. But I could imagine. 00:54:51.22\00:54:54.42 >> Some of the other people in the courts that. Could you give us what he had because 00:54:54.42\00:55:00.90 they are very wise. He was smarter, healthier looking Farrah and when the virus is 00:55:00.90\00:55:04.97 fatter and the King, James version healthy, look how look radiant and they were wiser 00:55:04.97\00:55:09.77 and wisdom. And when you think about it, the way that communicates to us, his he 00:55:09.77\00:55:14.98 communicates through this organ that he created, which includes 00:55:14.98\00:55:18.41 on mine. If your blood pressure is too high. I'm talking to to talk to see what happens when 00:55:18.41\00:55:25.79 your blood pressure is on a lat. so that's good. good. What happens if you over talks 00:55:25.79\00:55:31.03 talking with toxic Texas? It >> I mean, all these things so huge. And we don't make these 00:55:31.03\00:55:35.86 connections often. But the brain, like you mentioned, that's the medium of 00:55:35.86\00:55:40.50 communication. You know, holy spirit speaking to us through our brains, which are part of 00:55:40.50\00:55:44.34 our physical body. You know, brands are physically okay. And so if your blood pressure 00:55:44.34\00:55:49.44 is high, we know that increases your likelihood, having dementia 00:55:49.44\00:55:54.65 carrying extra weight, especially if combined with diabetes may increase risk of 00:55:54.65\00:55:58.75 dementia, fourfold and that range. So we're talking about things that affect the clarity 00:55:58.75\00:56:03.49 of our mind, which is directly impacting our spiritual walk that is interesting. I mean, 00:56:03.49\00:56:10.90 that a we've the leave stem in flower. Oh, yeah. And that's week notice into week one. 00:56:10.90\00:56:17.34 It's have a quick question for this as fast at the end of the meals. No snacks, huh? 00:56:17.34\00:56:22.41 >> Well, we to that a little That was where we you know, maybe we need to reword that 00:56:22.41\00:56:25.71 one. But that's where we're thinking of not overeating, being careful not to continue 00:56:25.71\00:56:30.02 to eat after you've had enough at the meal. Okay. over 8, but in those next week is the fast 00:56:30.02\00:56:35.49 and firm snacking. Okay? That yes. And that's really important, too. It's a really 00:56:35.49\00:56:43.60 good one to choose, perhaps if you want to pick it up. One of these things to stick with for 00:56:43.60\00:56:48.34 your, you know, for the rest of your life, snacking between meals and it's our whole 00:56:48.34\00:56:53.84 society is built around food. you go to a function, there's food. You have a birthday 00:56:53.84\00:56:59.71 party. There's food. >> What little kid falls. Excuse mom gives some piece of 00:56:59.71\00:57:05.19 candy or some, you know, mean? The its its just ingrained in 00:57:05.19\00:57:12.96 our society. But unfortunately, it's not a healthy option. Calories and up so quickly. You 00:57:12.96\00:57:21.10 know, 6 or 7 ships make 100 calories. Typically all do you know 100 extra calories a day 00:57:21.10\00:57:26.31 adds up to 10 pounds in a year. >> Wow. Hold on to that thought. 00:57:26.31\00:57:32.81 that I'm about to come down to first hour a we don't want to kill our chips completely, but 00:57:32.81\00:57:38.92 we want to get healthy.
