>> I want ¤ >> I 00:00:06.87\00:00:50.71 >> want to ¤ ¤ 00:00:50.71\00:01:09.03 >> Hello, Gilmore, Kony. And we just want to welcome you to 3 the and Thursday night live. 00:01:09.03\00:01:13.50 That's right. This is a live program and we have an exciting program planned for 00:01:13.50\00:01:17.91 you tonight. And you know, sitting next to me is not break. So this is a different 00:01:17.91\00:01:23.35 program, but I'm delighted to have my sister in Christ receive you've been in for a 00:01:23.35\00:01:28.25 couple yesterday as we enjoyed our time here. >> We're doing 00:01:28.25\00:01:31.82 really well. Yeah. Change has been working filming for the South School panel I've been 00:01:31.82\00:01:38.29 working on. Hopefully some exciting new content. Health programming that I really hope 00:01:38.29\00:01:42.80 it's going to be a blessing. You guys at some point we're hoping maybe in the next year getting 00:01:42.80\00:01:46.30 it out. >> I'm really excited about it. She's already done the 00:01:46.30\00:01:49.27 recording within on location. And now it's in the editing phase, which always takes a 00:01:49.27\00:01:52.71 little bit of time. But very, very excited as mentions abascal 00:01:52.71\00:01:59.08 panel. We just finished a marathon recording. We did all 13 lessens the 2nd quarter. An 00:01:59.08\00:02:06.49 elder Mark family wrote the quarterly and did an incredible job. So we're looking forward to 00:02:06.49\00:02:09.56 that. Tonight's topic is a sensitive topic. We want to say this right up front. We're 00:02:09.56\00:02:15.93 talking about human trafficking. There are over our guest tonight. We'll in just a moment. 00:02:15.93\00:02:22.30 But they told us tonight that there are right now 15 receive 50 million, 50 million, 00:02:22.30\00:02:28.51 50 million people who are traffic globally right now we're going to talk about what 00:02:28.51\00:02:32.38 that looks like, how you can become involved in helping to rescue and set free and help 00:02:32.38\00:02:40.82 through the help of the Lord Jesus to reading bring healing to those and I just want to 00:02:40.82\00:02:48.43 say at the outset, um, it is a sensitive topic. If you have young children in the home, 00:02:48.43\00:02:54.90 maybe occupy them with something else during this time. But this 00:02:54.90\00:02:58.74 isn't needed topic. And I think it's close to the heart of God. Yeah, absolutely. You and I have 00:02:58.74\00:03:02.54 this kind of idea that it was more like 30 million and probably because we look at an 00:03:02.54\00:03:07.62 older statistic and I read that it is the fastest growing 00:03:07.62\00:03:13.32 illegal. >> Industry business. So that's probably why we were so off. That potentially is 00:03:13.32\00:03:16.62 within the past 5 years. It's grown so exponentially. >> Which is really horrific. 00:03:16.62\00:03:24.10 >> It is to have a Bible verse for us introduce or fan. I do. I thought of revelation 18 and 00:03:24.10\00:03:28.80 in revelation 18 in the context of this first that I was 00:03:28.80\00:03:31.51 thinking of. >> Is the fall of Babylon. And that Babylon term is kind of code word for satans 00:03:31.51\00:03:39.95 occupation and his COO of this Earth and the government and the 00:03:39.95\00:03:46.42 ideologies and the corruption and kept religion. All of that combined. But the Bible promises 00:03:46.42\00:03:51.06 that it's going to fall. And in the context of that falling, it says that the merchants of the 00:03:51.06\00:03:55.70 earth will weep and mourn for her because she's falling for no one buys her merchandise 00:03:55.70\00:04:03.51 anymore. Now goes on to talk about her merchandise. And with that merchandise is gold, 00:04:03.51\00:04:08.48 precious stones sentiment and sense. Food frankincense wine, oil, animals. But in the context 00:04:08.48\00:04:14.15 of all merchandise, it ends with the bodies and the souls of la. And I was thinking since 00:04:14.15\00:04:23.39 when did bodies and souls of men become >> Commodities that we 00:04:23.39\00:04:30.23 are exploiting for our own financial gain and the good news about this Bible verse is 00:04:30.23\00:04:35.97 that it's going to end. I that God is going to bring this to an end and he's using people 00:04:35.97\00:04:40.91 like you did to bring it to an end. You know, kingdom come on this earth now, but ultimately 00:04:40.91\00:04:45.98 it's all going to be gone. But the sad part is that its existing so much so that God 00:04:45.98\00:04:51.95 saw that it was fit to included in this list of merchandise. 00:04:51.95\00:04:58.33 That is incredible. Thank you for sharing that. We've got to introduce our family who are 00:04:58.33\00:05:04.20 here tonight. >> This is the Ministry of Child Impact 00:05:04.20\00:05:07.04 International. They have been on 3 before. I had the privilege of interviewing you both before, 00:05:07.04\00:05:11.84 but we have a 3rd guest tonight. Let's start with Doctor Tom 00:05:11.84\00:05:16.81 Doctor. Thom Evans is the CEO of Child Impact International. We're so glad to have cue. 00:05:16.81\00:05:22.72 Coming around. Will do ladies next to this is Ashley Blake. This is our first time at least 00:05:22.72\00:05:26.89 my first time meeting you and let me get your title, right. You are child impact. 00:05:26.89\00:05:31.36 International finances is to yes, that is correct. Is this your first time in 3 D A this is 00:05:31.36\00:05:35.53 not my first time. It gave the end. I was a member of the kids program who way back when fun. 00:05:35.53\00:05:43.74 Yeah, so glad. OK? And then coming around the corner last but not son Churchwell. You 00:05:43.74\00:05:50.75 are child impacting national field director. >> Yes, thank 00:05:50.75\00:05:55.65 you for having us again here in jail. And they or be here with 00:05:55.65\00:05:58.32 you again. >> So tell us what is child impact International? I know tonight we're focusing 00:05:58.32\00:06:02.02 specifically on child trafficking and you have an a-hole. I would say a whole 00:06:02.02\00:06:06.36 portion of your ministry dedicated to that. But, you it's just in a nutshell, what 00:06:06.36\00:06:09.30 he's telling packed. >> The child impact has really been focused on sponsorship. 00:06:09.30\00:06:15.84 And giving kids an opportunity for an education, really empowering them through 00:06:15.84\00:06:20.08 education to have a different future for their lives. We think of opportunities that we 00:06:20.08\00:06:24.05 have often we take for granted. But for them to have an education for these 00:06:24.05\00:06:28.58 children that we support through sponsorship, this changes their 00:06:28.58\00:06:33.72 world. And so we've been doing that for decades. Originally called Asian Aid and then 00:06:33.72\00:06:38.26 started here in the U.S. is Asian aid. A U.S. A but then going international quite a few 00:06:38.26\00:06:43.06 years ago now became child Impact International. And so we are in a lot of different 00:06:43.06\00:06:47.77 countries all around the world and education for children that 00:06:47.77\00:06:53.11 wouldn't have that opportunity. So the trafficking component we call Operation Child Rescue, 00:06:53.11\00:06:57.68 fighting trafficking. And that's another component of what we do. 00:06:57.68\00:07:00.42 Eradicating exploitation. >> So how did before we jump into that topic? How did each 00:07:00.42\00:07:06.72 one of you become involved in child impact? What brought you 00:07:06.72\00:07:12.29 to the ministry? >> You want to start Jason? Sure. So I still work for another international 00:07:12.29\00:07:17.47 NGO and I'm really got involved in human trafficking, interested and that issue. I have 2 00:07:17.47\00:07:22.80 little girls at home, their ages, 3, 5, so just what I would tuck them into bed at 00:07:22.80\00:07:28.58 night, thinking about the warm, safe, comfortable place that we 00:07:28.58\00:07:32.91 could provide for them. My wife and I could and how many other girls don't have that 00:07:32.91\00:07:39.25 opportunity families. Those who are supposed to protect them. Oftentimes the ones who 00:07:39.25\00:07:44.06 selling them abusing them exactly. And just really wanted to do more. And so I I 00:07:44.06\00:07:49.40 I had sponsored a child child impact for about 5 years. My wife and I had a little boy in 00:07:49.40\00:07:55.47 India and I got my tax return back from child Impact. And Tom was a new CEO there and 00:07:55.47\00:08:03.18 he'd written a nice little note for all the donors I reach out 00:08:03.18\00:08:07.48 to him just responded to that email as probably by one Har Office assistance and Thomas 00:08:07.48\00:08:13.36 signed it. I just said, hey, if you ever need any volunteers above to get my family involved. 00:08:13.36\00:08:17.86 And Tom Friended me on Facebook that night found we had some mutual friends. I think you 00:08:17.86\00:08:22.90 called them all. Take a call. The Middle East. said, hey, we have some mutual friends and 00:08:22.90\00:08:26.27 they tell me I should hire you you don't volunteer for us come work for us full-time. 00:08:26.27\00:08:31.64 Haha. So that's how I got involved. A child impact. And coming up on a year in April 00:08:31.64\00:08:38.28 home. So it's the look out. The door opened a lot of doors for us. We've been praying 00:08:38.28\00:08:40.95 about a way to get more involved. so there are so many clear answers to prayer that 00:08:40.95\00:08:48.39 my wife and I decided we walk through them in faith and has been a busing ever sense. So 00:08:48.39\00:08:50.56 I'm really privileged to be here. 2 men time and I've been involved in a child 00:08:50.56\00:08:57.97 sponsorship since I've been very young in I just saw the difference it can make for 00:08:57.97\00:09:03.07 kids. >> And actually became a promoter of it and ended up 00:09:03.07\00:09:07.88 being the board chair for another organization that works with with overseas and 00:09:07.88\00:09:14.78 enjoyed that. And then our family actually got involved in adoption ourselves and tell 00:09:14.78\00:09:18.72 impact doesn't do adoptions. we do sponsorship. But found some boys that are orphanage 00:09:18.72\00:09:25.09 and eastern Europe. they became part of our family through 00:09:25.09\00:09:30.30 summer visits and Christmas visits and last week just travel to this country and finalize the 00:09:30.30\00:09:37.04 adoption for the older, the 2 boys. So gradually been a long journey, but very, very I just 00:09:37.04\00:09:43.41 want to say with a Jason coming on the team and his passion for this area about human 00:09:43.41\00:09:48.15 trafficking. We've increased the number of projects in this area from 3 when I arrived a year and 00:09:48.15\00:09:53.05 a half ago, we now have 14 projects and we have requests for others. And of course, all 00:09:53.05\00:09:58.66 that's tied to funding and what we can do because when we engage with the project, we 00:09:58.66\00:10:02.26 want to do that long term. The problems don't go away. In a year or 2 years. We want to 00:10:02.26\00:10:08.47 see these kids be able to grow up in a safe environment. And so it's exciting to see the 00:10:08.47\00:10:12.41 increase the number of projects. And also the need an opportunity 00:10:12.41\00:10:17.75 keep growing this area. What child impact does? Ashley, what about you? >> Yeah, so I am 00:10:17.75\00:10:25.69 currently a student southern university and I decided to go to Zambia for years to their 00:10:25.69\00:10:31.39 seat missions program. So I ended up going to Riverside Farm Institute. And while it was 00:10:31.39\00:10:35.56 over there, just really like to solidify my passion for being able to work in ministry 00:10:35.56\00:10:40.00 on. I realized that I had different talents and skills that I could possibly use to 00:10:40.00\00:10:46.01 help end. I heard about child impact. Well, as their Tom actually came to visit, I was 00:10:46.01\00:10:51.71 there and they had the grand opening of the new secondary school that child impact to 00:10:51.71\00:10:56.55 sponsor. So that was on super amazing to be able to see that and I thought it would be a 00:10:56.55\00:11:02.76 good opportunity to come here and work once I came back from my time is the scene of the 00:11:02.76\00:11:08.76 >> Then all that super to hear the stories you read. Yeah, absolutely. That is excellent. 00:11:08.76\00:11:13.37 So you are working with the kids when you were a student missionary. So I actually went 00:11:13.37\00:11:17.44 to Riverside to work on one of their business industries that they have accounting business. 00:11:17.44\00:11:22.74 Major. >> But I did do some things that the school to I 00:11:22.74\00:11:26.25 helped to their music program a little bit. So there's some definitely some interaction 00:11:26.25\00:11:32.15 with the >> You know, I think when use the word human 00:11:32.15\00:11:34.59 trafficking, it's kind of a new term. You know, it's so we're really talking about slavery. 00:11:34.59\00:11:41.40 Are we? And and that human trafficking. From what I learned, there's 3 major 00:11:41.40\00:11:45.43 categories right there, slave labor or enforce labor and that can involve a lot of 00:11:45.43\00:11:51.91 children sometimes. And then there is organ harvesting and things like that. I that can 00:11:51.91\00:11:58.65 be done that is enforced and then their sex slaves, right? That we can put that under the 00:11:58.65\00:12:04.35 category in my correct in those terms. >> There's forced 00:12:04.35\00:12:08.62 marriage as well for child brides in these kind of things. But actually news article just 00:12:08.62\00:12:16.23 came out. I just saw slave labor right in the Midwest you know, it's it's happens at some of 00:12:16.23\00:12:20.74 these chicken farms and some of these places like this individuals come across the 00:12:20.74\00:12:24.24 border, they're undocumented and particularly teenagers and they're they're put to work in 00:12:24.24\00:12:30.55 some of these places. And there's been a lot of, you know, illegal activity train. 00:12:30.55\00:12:33.42 You break up those kind of things from happening. But it was just the news about a week 00:12:33.42\00:12:37.82 ago I pulled another. There's another bust of child labor that was happening in the 00:12:37.82\00:12:43.56 Midwest. >> In the Mid West. Yeah, he's not crazy far but 00:12:43.56\00:12:47.66 yes, right. you know, it's right there, but we don't see So why did child impact become 00:12:47.66\00:12:53.20 involved? And rescuing and reaching out and helping those who are being trafficked right 00:12:53.20\00:12:58.77 now. OK, I'm Jason. Can you assure that? I can tell you why I got involved, you know, child 00:12:58.77\00:13:06.88 impact. I think your first project was one in India with a lady named in media and it's 00:13:06.88\00:13:12.22 called the Freedom Project and indeed has been working for 25 years in India. And they had a 00:13:12.22\00:13:17.19 task force team that would literally kind of going bust down the doors of brothels, 00:13:17.19\00:13:21.60 takeout, young kids who are held against their will in these places and then they had 00:13:21.60\00:13:28.24 what they the Azari home, where they would take these girls. And 00:13:28.24\00:13:31.81 it was like a safe house where they can grow up. They can give them life skills, training. And 00:13:31.81\00:13:36.28 since then, we've helped them open a bakery. They so making business now they go to school 00:13:36.28\00:13:43.45 and we were able to travel meet them in November. Some of them have children even at the 00:13:43.45\00:13:47.36 home that are also being raised now in a safe place. So that's 00:13:47.36\00:13:52.29 kind of how child impact got involved. Yes, I feel like it really fits with our 00:13:52.29\00:13:58.50 sponsorship. I'm kind of model once we rescue the girls, then we can get them in education and 00:13:58.50\00:14:02.44 put them our sponsorship model. And so we feel like that's core to who we are helping eradicate 00:14:02.44\00:14:06.61 exploitation and helping those kids. I'm really have as many advantages as we can possibly 00:14:06.61\00:14:12.71 give them to be successful in this life, but also introduce them to so they can have hope 00:14:12.71\00:14:16.92 of eternal life as well. So we actually met the first girl to graduate from that Freedom 00:14:16.92\00:14:22.36 Project is home. >> She was this came to meet us and she's 00:14:22.36\00:14:27.86 starting her own little business. But I think what really struck me is there's a 00:14:27.86\00:14:31.23 light in her eyes. She glows and in fact, I did a video that panned across the group of young 00:14:31.23\00:14:36.81 ladies and my wife was like, who's that? She's she's just on. She's alive. She has this energy 00:14:36.81\00:14:42.04 and you think from where she hit, what had happened to her is that she taken. We're going go 00:14:42.04\00:14:46.41 to some party and she dressed up in traditional Indian garb to go to this party and she 00:14:46.41\00:14:52.72 got there and everyone was wearing almost no clothes. And she's like where my where my 00:14:52.72\00:14:56.42 out what's going on in the next thing she knows she's forced into sex trafficking, 00:14:56.42\00:15:01.43 but she survived that old shoes was taken. Do you remember what 00:15:01.43\00:15:05.67 I do? Remember her? A young teens. I think that just still a teenager. So she's probably 19 00:15:05.67\00:15:14.08 or 20 Mil. >> So you saw her and then you the light in her. >> Oh, absolutely. She goes 00:15:14.08\00:15:17.61 yeah. And then you give them a trade. Yes, they they're very good Yeah. We were able to 00:15:17.61\00:15:26.05 pick and sample some things from their bakery. my daughter is actually involved is as 00:15:26.05\00:15:32.69 make in making so like really, you know, good for the body kind of soaps. And she's done 00:15:32.69\00:15:37.47 some mentoring with them for their soap business, which is kind of neat to see that 00:15:37.47\00:15:39.73 happen as well. But we want to see I think, Jason, you you look for several things and 00:15:39.73\00:15:45.94 partnerships because Jason is the one is our field director that has initial contact with 00:15:45.94\00:15:50.65 potential partners. Sure. So when we kind of vetting a new partner looking to go into a 00:15:50.65\00:15:54.95 new area. >> We look for a couple things because child 00:15:54.95\00:15:57.75 sponsorship is core to what we do. Is there an avid a school nearby where we can send kids 00:15:57.75\00:16:06.93 and then as their rescue component that we can do, human trafficking is something that 00:16:06.93\00:16:11.53 happens in every state, every city in the U.S. and of course, around the world, it's 00:16:11.53\00:16:16.44 everywhere. It's just hidden. And so when we rescue the kids, we like to be able to sponsor 00:16:16.44\00:16:21.38 them to go to school. And we also like to have some type of income generation project so 00:16:21.38\00:16:26.35 that that project can support itself in some way through that business. And then also 00:16:26.35\00:16:30.75 we teach the kids a train, some type of vocational training where they have the 00:16:30.75\00:16:35.69 opportunity then to not have to go back into that type of work. We often see is that 00:16:35.69\00:16:39.66 people who are trafficked. Go back into trafficking there, traffic over and over and 00:16:39.66\00:16:44.97 over. But if we can give them a skill and a trade, then we can hopefully break that cycle 00:16:44.97\00:16:48.54 and really. Help them on a path to freedom. And so those are the 3 things that we look 00:16:48.54\00:16:55.51 for in a partner that we try to include in all of our projects. 00:16:55.51\00:16:57.75 >> So when you say that you're rescuing them, are you breaking down the no doors and 00:16:57.75\00:17:03.08 resting them out of the brothels or what's the connecting link 00:17:03.08\00:17:06.02 between those who are doing that kind of work? You guys, how do you actually receive the 00:17:06.02\00:17:09.82 children? That's a great question, women. So what's happened in a lot of countries 00:17:09.82\00:17:15.80 is. >> The governments don't like to be known as places where their citizens are being 00:17:15.80\00:17:21.24 trafficked. So it's actually a huge blessing that governments have set up anti Trafficking 00:17:21.24\00:17:26.31 Task Force unit. And so that's really the work that the police needs to be doing. And 00:17:26.31\00:17:32.68 so for, for instance, in India, they've now set up those units 00:17:32.68\00:17:37.59 within their police force. But once they rescue the girls, they need a place to take them. And 00:17:37.59\00:17:42.02 so that's kind of the role that our our projects, Phil, is there are places that the 00:17:42.02\00:17:46.16 police can dropped the girls off. They know they're going to be safely care for. They 00:17:46.16\00:17:48.43 know they're going to be fed. They're going to be closed. And so that's what we mean by 00:17:48.43\00:17:51.90 rescue the girls. >> So if you applied to the government them 00:17:51.90\00:17:56.47 for that kind of a position, they know they contact you. Hey, here's a home that weekend. Put 00:17:56.47\00:18:01.21 these kids in. >> Exactly. Yes. And our projects are really the 00:18:01.21\00:18:05.31 model projects that other ones are now coming to to get training. And then this home 00:18:05.31\00:18:08.38 specifically in India, the has asked him to come to trainings at different government 00:18:08.38\00:18:14.69 institutions for the for, for other projects who want to have safe homes. And so those 00:18:14.69\00:18:19.36 are the best partners for us, you know, who are operating and really like a model 00:18:19.36\00:18:22.10 setting for the rest of the country. >> So what we want to 00:18:22.10\00:18:26.90 do tonight, I want to give the contact information here for 3ABN because this is a live 00:18:26.90\00:18:32.77 program or going to hear stories. They have 14 projects now we're going to hear 00:18:32.77\00:18:37.51 stories from those projects and what's going on all over the world. They have projects 00:18:37.51\00:18:40.78 in many different countries. Got to showcase. We have video for you and pictures and you 00:18:40.78\00:18:47.12 can see how you can become involved. Here are the stories here. How God rest use these 00:18:47.12\00:18:54.50 girls and boys and brings them out of these places and how he's working to restore them 00:18:54.50\00:18:59.90 and how you can become involved. How you can sponsor the kids, 00:18:59.90\00:19:06.81 how you help on a life to wholeness and healing. So if you have questions for us, we're 00:19:06.81\00:19:12.95 going to give child impacts information all throughout the program. But if you have a 00:19:12.95\00:19:17.52 question specifically tonight for one of the team here from child Impac International. Those questions are those requests and will be taking them here tonight. As we 00:20:01.40\00:20:06.80 talk about, I know we have several projects to talk about, but we talked about the school 00:20:06.80\00:20:11.67 in India. I'm one of of the jungle School in Philippines. Talk to us about the sure. 00:20:11.67\00:20:19.11 >> They're very remote jungle schools. And in fact, I'll be going to in just about a week 00:20:19.11\00:20:23.18 or so will be heading over to it for the first time. But our videographer lives in the 00:20:23.18\00:20:28.42 Philippines, Seminole pastor Jasper, this phenomenal work. he raise the funds to build a 00:20:28.42\00:20:34.10 jungle. School of Erin are very remote area all through social 00:20:34.10\00:20:39.20 media. And so the school is built and then he became part of our team and he was discovering 00:20:39.20\00:20:43.24 that the kids would come to school and they would. The fainting as a world class 00:20:43.24\00:20:47.68 because they were hungry. They hadn't had any food to eat as we so we can cover that. And so we 00:20:47.68\00:20:53.55 sent some funds over for food in and we didn't realize later he told me we spread that food 00:20:53.55\00:20:57.75 out of over 4 schools for jungle schools. So about 200 kids have been helped. And we 00:20:57.75\00:21:02.06 also give medical care once a quarter for those children. But the the issue that they're 00:21:02.06\00:21:06.93 having there in that area is basically child brides of the Philippines is one of the 00:21:06.93\00:21:11.67 countries that has the most issues girls being married, very young age. And so what 00:21:11.67\00:21:19.47 that does is it takes him right out of an educational opportunity. And so there's a 00:21:19.47\00:21:23.11 lot of illiteracy in some of these mountain villages. And so for these girls to be in 00:21:23.11\00:21:26.88 school to get an education can help them prevent them from being to a forced marriage 00:21:26.88\00:21:33.02 situation with an older man that they would not choose to marry 00:21:33.02\00:21:37.16 on their own, but they're kind of forced in that situation. So it said it's a mitigating factor 00:21:37.16\00:21:40.83 against that. And we've also had to incredible story of a baby there. That the mother died in 00:21:40.83\00:21:47.54 childbirth and they placed the baby to be buried. The live baby to be buried with the 00:21:47.54\00:21:51.91 mother because the death that it was a curse the baby was cursed because the mother had 00:21:51.91\00:21:56.41 died during childbirth. >> The baby was alive. >> They've just 00:21:56.41\00:22:01.65 like they're going to bury the baby alive. And in any CE, some folks found out about that and 00:22:01.65\00:22:08.22 they were able to rescue this baby and he's been adopted and we help with that adoption and I 00:22:08.22\00:22:12.99 get regular iPhone of this growing young boy and he's just gorgeous. And it's so 00:22:12.99\00:22:17.03 exciting to know that he was rescued. So we kind of work with both of those areas with 00:22:17.03\00:22:21.47 those jungle schools. >> One of the dynamics for why families 00:22:21.47\00:22:28.68 with force or daughters into marriage. So young while Wildwood, what's the culture to 00:22:28.68\00:22:32.98 even allow that are to support that? >> In some countries we the family can support all of 00:22:32.98\00:22:41.66 the children that they have in the home and the daughters are kind of seen as a commodity 00:22:41.66\00:22:47.50 because they get a dowry payment for the girls. And so for them 00:22:47.50\00:22:51.17 to give up a young girl when they don't, I have enough money to pay for food for all their 00:22:51.17\00:22:55.70 kids. They know when they give this girl up at a young age, she married, they're going to get 00:22:55.70\00:23:01.91 quite a bit of money. It could be land. It could be animals. There's a number of different 00:23:01.91\00:23:04.75 things that people will give as a dowry for a young girl to be married. And so it's really 00:23:04.75\00:23:10.92 an economic thing for the In many instances. >> Which is why 00:23:10.92\00:23:15.12 when they are rescued from certain situations, they often can't take them back to their 00:23:15.12\00:23:18.33 own homes into their parents because they'll just be sold 00:23:18.33\00:23:20.33 again. >> Right. Exactly. Exactly right. Yeah, that's really >> That's that's tragic. 00:23:20.33\00:23:30.67 I have one project. We can't even say what the location It's in the 10, 40 window. I 00:23:30.67\00:23:35.61 was thinking of that. And this is one Jason has been really working hard behind the scenes 00:23:35.61\00:23:41.38 on because it's even difficult to get funds into this country. one of youngest girl 00:23:41.38\00:23:47.69 been rescued. There are things 6 years old. Is that right? 6 years old? Was she forced into 00:23:47.69\00:23:50.49 marriage? She was first. Basically family wanted to sell Yes. So you remember the 00:23:50.49\00:23:59.53 exact context that he >> Her mom had passed away. Her dad remarried and the new 00:23:59.53\00:24:04.31 wife, the not care for this little girl. So she is being abused at home and she was 00:24:04.31\00:24:08.84 being forced to go out and she would sell chewing gum on the street every day from morning 00:24:08.84\00:24:12.18 till night. And so she was just seen as a way to bring in a dollar a day or so for the 00:24:12.18\00:24:20.22 family. so she was out on the street every day. One tonight, a little 6 year-old girl in 00:24:20.22\00:24:24.16 the middle of a large city. And so we have some workers on on the ground there who look 00:24:24.16\00:24:29.86 for cases like this of girls who are being offered up for sale or who are vulnerable to 00:24:29.86\00:24:35.04 being sold. So you can imagine men are coming by. They're trying to get these girls to 00:24:35.04\00:24:38.71 go with them. They're just children. You know, my daughters about the V they see 00:24:38.71\00:24:46.35 this little girl. They're selling chewing gum and so they go up and they just start 00:24:46.35\00:24:49.82 asking, hey, what's happening here? What's going on? And, you know, these children just 00:24:49.82\00:24:53.96 burst into tears, telling their stories and they're all heartbreaking. And so they 00:24:53.96\00:24:58.26 send us kind of a profile of these and they say, hey, you know, what do you think? Would 00:24:58.26\00:25:06.20 this fit with their program? Of course, we're like, yes, please like Find out what you 00:25:06.20\00:25:09.17 can do. So go talk to the family and they'll make an arrangement 00:25:09.17\00:25:13.64 and then were able to take those girls into a safe home, provide, you know, 3 meals a day for 00:25:13.64\00:25:17.68 them, a safe place for them to grow up and education for them. it's really a joy to see from 00:25:17.68\00:25:24.95 our side. But it's also tragic to know what's happening. Alas Abbott, that was sitting 00:25:24.95\00:25:29.52 inside a school with my daughter. So you can see I'm the parent, not not the 00:25:29.52\00:25:33.66 parallel. The dichotomy, I guess I'm inside school and Avenue. A church with tons of 00:25:33.66\00:25:39.57 happy kids. And I get a text on my phone. We just got this girl. She 7 and she's being 00:25:39.57\00:25:45.64 forced to shine shoes every day from morning to night. Similar situation went to live 00:25:45.64\00:25:49.48 with another family member after a parent had passed away. Didn't 00:25:49.48\00:25:54.82 care for her just for sending her out to work every day. And they said we got here this 00:25:54.82\00:26:03.16 morning and you know, I just start showing everybody and this at a school it's a little girl 00:26:03.16\00:26:07.40 hide. Hey, we just got this girl, huh? >> You know, I love that. You are providing all 00:26:07.40\00:26:12.70 this, you know, education and training for them so that they have. A different identity of 00:26:12.70\00:26:18.64 their value and what they're capable of. They're no longer a sex object or just, you worker 00:26:18.64\00:26:22.38 like that I'm also curious, though, because, you know, when you come out of that kind 00:26:22.38\00:26:28.68 of trauma. Those kind of horrific memories and experiences. I do think it's 00:26:28.68\00:26:36.16 good to, you know, put them in a good direction of the show them what they're capable of 00:26:36.16\00:26:38.69 and that type of thing. But obviously there's a lot of emotional healing that needs 00:26:38.69\00:26:42.33 to take place. Where do you guys how do is address that? >> Yeah, 00:26:42.33\00:26:48.80 that's a great question. And observation, really, of of trauma that they're in and how 00:26:48.80\00:26:53.27 they're impacted and they think one of the questions that human being struggle with this in my 00:26:53.27\00:26:57.35 worthy to be loved And somebody has been abused and has experience, you know, the 00:26:57.35\00:27:03.85 wrong side of that, it's very difficult navigate that. I think probably one of the 00:27:03.85\00:27:12.79 Joyce that I saw was visiting one of our projects in Tanzania. 00:27:12.79\00:27:17.97 And what they've done is they've given all of these kids a couple of moments. And they treat these 00:27:17.97\00:27:23.17 these kids like they're their own and they have them and little covert, smaller groups 00:27:23.17\00:27:25.84 of kids in a home type of setting. And I have not seen in the United States any other 00:27:25.84\00:27:33.21 place. I've been the amount of joy and laughter and a pair of emotional health. That I saw 00:27:33.21\00:27:38.65 simply by these kids being in proper nurturing environment. Now, in some cases, certainly 00:27:38.65\00:27:45.53 where possible we want counseling to be involved. We were on the border of Ukraine 00:27:45.53\00:27:51.77 bringing women and children across some of the first women and children that came across 00:27:51.77\00:27:55.07 of the ways we're involved was to hire a councillor that spoke their language. We took 00:27:55.07\00:27:59.81 them into Germany into Austria and we have the Celts are available. We funded that so 00:27:59.81\00:28:07.22 that these women and children could could find some healing that way. So each case is a 00:28:07.22\00:28:10.49 little bit different. But actually, number 15 in terms of our projects or forgot to 00:28:10.49\00:28:16.22 room. Okay. But we're kind of wrapping that one But there's were still involved in some 00:28:16.22\00:28:21.36 ways with that particular project as well. So you're in 00:28:21.36\00:28:25.47 eastern Europe. >> Here in Philippines, in Africa, South America, South America, South 00:28:25.47\00:28:30.84 America. you mentioned that one where South America's William and the 10, 40 window. Yes, yes. 00:28:30.84\00:28:35.31 So really this is a global global ministry. guys are. Are there places where you feel like 00:28:35.31\00:28:41.68 there's more need that you're investing more energy and that 00:28:41.68\00:28:48.72 you need help >> you know, there's there are places where we know the need is just One of 00:28:48.72\00:28:54.83 those is in Ethiopia and we could weaken mentioned this about any project. But in 00:28:54.83\00:28:59.10 Ethiopia, there's civil war right now. And in we basically with families, it's not wise for 00:28:59.10\00:29:06.01 us to go in there. For own safety. And so our photographer 00:29:06.01\00:29:11.18 Singly said all go in there and he's visited this project. But children because they're hungry. 00:29:11.18\00:29:19.42 Are signing up to go to war because they know they'll be able to eat. And so you have 00:29:19.42\00:29:23.49 child soldiers. And that's just so tragic planned a 12 year-old 12 years old. That's 00:29:23.49\00:29:29.43 about the age where the start going to because they're hungry. 00:29:29.43\00:29:35.34 We have a project there that's focused children who are orphaned and also disabled. And 00:29:35.34\00:29:40.71 the individual that runs this project himself became more fun at himself, has a disability. 00:29:40.71\00:29:46.61 And so he decided that when he got his degree and when he had the education that he was after 00:29:46.61\00:29:51.29 that, he would start this orphanage and school has about 600 kids. Wow. And I was just 00:29:51.29\00:29:56.96 share with some of the day. I think he's taken more children that he really can handle. But 00:29:56.96\00:30:01.13 he just such a big heart. So the needs are just enormous. It's hard to even know where 00:30:01.13\00:30:03.73 to start with some of these. >> Yeah, I think that's so important. I think that's 00:30:03.73\00:30:08.57 important that we're there right? events are taking place because what I've learned is 00:30:08.57\00:30:13.54 that that's when those who are trafficking these children, they know that's a prime 00:30:13.54\00:30:19.21 moment. You're having all these orphans, all these children. 00:30:19.21\00:30:23.25 There's a lot of chaos. So they swooped up, right? So we need to be there to counter that, which 00:30:23.25\00:30:26.72 is what you guys are doing. And actually in where a partner there says that these kids can 00:30:26.72\00:30:32.39 be perhaps some kids into being blinded and put the bag in in the city. They're not. 00:30:32.39\00:30:36.40 about us. So. >> Talk to us about that. A moment blinded him 00:30:36.40\00:30:40.67 put to bake. That means they purposely put out their eyes. Yeah. And why would they do 00:30:40.67\00:30:46.94 that? And who does right? So that people feel sorry and give the money and they don't 00:30:46.94\00:30:51.58 get any of that money. That all goes to the people that are 00:30:51.58\00:30:55.35 trafficking them. >> Is the people who does does this put top prize? That's my 00:30:55.35\00:31:00.16 understanding. So I've not seen that personally. >> But I've not been into, you know, if Pia just 00:31:00.16\00:31:06.49 for safety reasons but it's a challenge. >> The person who runs the orphanage. You have 00:31:06.49\00:31:12.37 different smell little bit. Can you tell us little bit of the story? His name is sue him on. 00:31:12.37\00:31:19.47 >> he had when he was young, his father passed away. at some point during that time 00:31:19.47\00:31:25.75 they were cutting down a tree and he was sitting watching and they were trying to pull 00:31:25.75\00:31:31.72 the tree in the opposite direction of where people were watching and actually fell on 00:31:31.72\00:31:35.92 him and they thought killed him. But he revived. And from that moment, though, he had 00:31:35.92\00:31:41.90 absolutely no use of one of his his arms. And after that time, the famine was there and 00:31:41.90\00:31:52.54 the mother and and sister, they're very hungry and they sent him to go try to find 00:31:52.54\00:31:55.31 some food while he waited in mind 3rd day heat mind for food he fainted and passed 00:31:55.31\00:32:00.52 out. And so after they brought him back and give him some strength, said, I've got to go 00:32:00.52\00:32:07.32 back for my family. Well, he went back and they passed away. 00:32:07.32\00:32:13.06 So now he's in or disabled orphan another sponsorship organization sponsored him and 00:32:13.06\00:32:17.50 he went all the way through to get a university degree. The government wanted to hire him. 00:32:17.50\00:32:22.00 He said, no, I want to go help orphan, disabled children just like him. Yeah. That is taking 00:32:22.00\00:32:26.94 this journey like I have and help them have a better place. So just a tremendous person. 00:32:26.94\00:32:31.08 We want to have him come over and visit. He's never I don't think he's ever been outside 00:32:31.08\00:32:36.48 of Ethiopia. Dream to come. Just a great story. We talked we were talking about bringing 00:32:36.48\00:32:39.55 one of our partners over who should we bring over? >> We have 00:32:39.55\00:32:44.03 a special week in October with our team called Home Week and we wanted to just spend some time 00:32:44.03\00:32:46.66 with one of our partners and and Jason sitting there in the meeting said he's suing months, 00:32:46.66\00:32:52.73 calling right Haha. So maybe you should. Maybe that's an answer. 00:32:52.73\00:32:57.11 May So he said he doesn't do. It certainly is. Ask about the passport. Also interest. 00:32:57.11\00:33:01.08 >> Yeah, I said do you have a a passport can come pick? Yes. He has passport faster as it 00:33:01.08\00:33:05.21 was a valid for 6 months after October. You know, because you have to have that. Well, 00:33:05.21\00:33:10.42 actually, it expired, but I was just going to get a new one Haha it will make sure you 00:33:10.42\00:33:16.42 get that. He said I will. I will. I'm going tomorrow to get a new passport. So we're 00:33:16.42\00:33:20.13 looking forward to him coming. That's exciting. And we're going to have him at 3ABN. 00:33:20.13\00:33:24.50 >> We hope so. All us and definitely would love that. So we'll do that interview and 00:33:24.50\00:33:28.07 feature story. So you get to meet Suleyman this fall. This coming October. Hopefully 00:33:28.07\00:33:33.27 we'll be able to do a program with him and you get to meet him and hear the stories of 00:33:33.27\00:33:37.71 how God's work in this life. What's incredible to me is that you would think when you 00:33:37.71\00:33:40.78 go through pain when you go through whether it's trafficking 00:33:40.78\00:33:47.86 or disability or famine or all of that, that you would turn bitter. And yet he wants to give 00:33:47.86\00:33:53.03 back. Do you see that? What is the a motion on this kind of goes off of a Reese's question 00:33:53.03\00:33:58.23 earlier. But you said there were so happy the ones that you went to visit yet you would think 00:33:58.23\00:34:05.21 they would withdraw or you would like fight out against other people or be afraid of people. 00:34:05.21\00:34:10.65 So why do you think that is? >> gun was just I think one of the phrases that one of our 00:34:10.65\00:34:17.45 partners said this last year that just is stayed in my mind. She said when you have 00:34:17.45\00:34:22.49 hope you have enough. And it's like they've give been given a glimpse of hope that mean 00:34:22.49\00:34:28.56 their future before them was bleak there. There was no options. They infect many 00:34:28.56\00:34:35.57 Children end up in situations because they don't think there's any other option for 00:34:35.57\00:34:37.31 them to survive. And so when they have a glimmer of hope and realize I can have a 00:34:37.31\00:34:43.28 bright future, there's options. There's opportunities for me. And so many of these 00:34:43.28\00:34:47.98 individuals want to give back. And we just hear that over and over again because of what 00:34:47.98\00:34:52.45 I've been through. I want to help others that are in a similar circumstance that I 00:34:52.45\00:34:55.12 was in. It's just beautiful to see it. >> Yeah, the idea like 00:34:55.12\00:34:59.66 you said, there's no hope for have no other option for me. And I think that, you know, not only 00:34:59.66\00:35:03.70 are physically sexually slit in slate, but emotionally and mentally right. They've been 00:35:03.70\00:35:11.07 held back. And and I think that what I've read is that the their owner has developed 00:35:11.07\00:35:17.25 in them. Dependency on them, right? So they are in every way to pay. And for you to 00:35:17.25\00:35:23.39 give them that kind of and to feel like now I can, he'll not just, you away from that 00:35:23.39\00:35:30.06 situation. But now I have the opportunity to heal emotionally 00:35:30.06\00:35:33.70 and and be free emotionally and mentally. I don't have to be dependent on that. And person 00:35:33.70\00:35:36.83 that I was scared to And we. >> Should just pause and don't want to paint like a perfectly 00:35:36.83\00:35:45.07 rosy picture that every person that you bring out, you know, is immediately change. It's a 00:35:45.07\00:35:49.48 process, right, because they're starting a whole new life. And 00:35:49.48\00:35:52.01 we just heard the testimony of a girl today and she wrote in there sometimes act out. I do 00:35:52.01\00:35:58.75 bad things. I don't know why, but I'm working my way through that. I'm becoming a better 00:35:58.75\00:36:03.39 person. >> It's not all of our when and then even more with that kind trauma. it's like, of 00:36:03.39\00:36:11.10 course. >> It's a process. But when you take someone out of 00:36:11.10\00:36:14.00 that situation like you're talking about where you have no decision-making ability and 00:36:14.00\00:36:16.10 they have freedom now and they're surrounded by people who love and care for them and 00:36:16.10\00:36:20.64 they're learning to trust people learning to share their stories with them. And they're 00:36:20.64\00:36:25.88 being introduced in Jesus. Yeah, he's the ultimate healer. It 00:36:25.88\00:36:30.89 just makes all the difference for these girls. >> Yeah, I think God that he gave us a 00:36:30.89\00:36:36.76 resilient mind. You know, a plastic mine, especially in childhood. You know I was 20 00:36:36.76\00:36:43.63 guys how I heard how I saw this comparison of physically trauma brain that had experienced 00:36:43.63\00:36:49.37 physical trauma verses of brain that had experienced trauma through this emotional and 00:36:49.37\00:36:55.14 sexual abuse in this kind of thing. So I did the scan and they looked like the same right, 00:36:55.14\00:36:58.85 just, you know, tremendous damage that was done physically, 00:36:58.85\00:37:03.42 too, this, too, that to the brain. And that resiliency means it doesn't have to be stuck that 00:37:03.42\00:37:09.09 way like no, it had the potential of growing and changing being transformed is 00:37:09.09\00:37:15.53 physiologically and it's God's blessing. And I'm so thankful for that at any but especially 00:37:15.53\00:37:17.97 in childhood. Yes, him. It's amazing how he made us. >> We believe in the Ministry 00:37:17.97\00:37:23.44 of Child Impact, we believe in what you all are doing. A little girl and a little boy. 00:38:13.96\00:38:16.93 The newsman from field is so this is just near and dear to my heart. I just my heart breaks. 00:38:16.93\00:38:22.50 You know, the thing comes the pain. Think of. I just can't even imagine a child's life is 00:38:22.50\00:38:28.74 supposed to be beautiful and supposed to be seen safe and supposed to be happy and 00:38:28.74\00:38:35.14 nurturing and then to be in a place where you're in slave to You're dependent on the other 00:38:35.14\00:38:39.91 person in your and I just. We recognize a very vulnerable population in these communities. The vulnerable 00:40:20.82\00:40:25.39 group that we discovered was teenage girls. Often they responsibility and the burden 00:40:25.39\00:40:30.49 to take care of their elderly grandparents are the younger siblings rests upon these 00:40:30.49\00:40:34.23 ladies at a very young age. Because basic needs are barely met. Education is not a 00:40:34.23\00:40:42.97 priority. And these girls has a very difficult decisions to 00:40:42.97\00:40:48.48 make. >> I'm not feeling so good to watch my young things not eat. >> Because of not having 00:40:48.48\00:40:56.28 enough money. >> You know, so I'm like can I be a sacrifice? 00:40:56.28\00:41:01.46 Something like ¤ >> know you have trucks coming in and out of 00:41:01.46\00:41:08.90 the town and you know how sometimes is Trump Travis in the of trying to relax? And tell us a little bit about what they're doing there. 00:45:13.98\00:45:18.98 >> Yes, so that you saw the girls and these were clothes. They were out gardening. And 00:45:18.98\00:45:22.02 so they're working in the soil and I shoot some of these girls 00:45:22.02\00:45:28.36 will get involved probably with the soap there's other trades. There's a lot of different 00:45:28.36\00:45:31.86 trades that Riverside offers for these girls to learn. But we begin because we already have a 00:45:31.86\00:45:36.97 school there where we sponsor kids and we we helped build the secondary school. But 00:45:36.97\00:45:41.10 these kids hadn't graduated. Fill that school up yet. And so we learned about these 00:45:41.10\00:45:45.81 girls on the border there we offered to sponsor 25 of them through Operation Child 00:45:45.81\00:45:52.55 Rescue, really, which is a project. Our project that fights human trafficking that 00:45:52.55\00:45:57.95 we would sponsor. 25 of these girls to go to school. And the media request came. Could you 00:45:57.95\00:46:03.43 sponsor 35? And then from there, rented a dormitory and it's like, well, can we build 00:46:03.43\00:46:11.43 a dormitory on campus? So we've God has blessed. We've been able 00:46:11.43\00:46:17.34 to raise the funds to build a dormitory for 100. >> Girls 100 So that was America with the 00:46:17.34\00:46:23.01 raising of the funds for that. Yes, it was such a blessing somebody watching 3 being 00:46:23.01\00:46:33.76 program So they watched about how the impact on 3ABN and said yes, want to sponsor. I want I 00:46:33.76\00:46:37.63 want to be involved at this particular project. So super excited about that. The 00:46:37.63\00:46:42.03 challenge that we're trying to address now and what we'd like to to bring tonight is that we 00:46:42.03\00:46:47.00 want to fill that dorm now with 100 girls that are all at-risk 00:46:47.00\00:46:52.01 girls. >> And so our sponsorship program covers some of that cost, but not all of it. And 00:46:52.01\00:46:57.78 so you these these girls can be sponsor. That's $45 a month for sponsorship. But the 00:46:57.78\00:47:03.25 actual cost for everything that's involved with the rescue project like this is 00:47:03.25\00:47:06.49 $135 per girl. So there's 100 girls and the school year about $100,000 subsidy coming 00:47:06.49\00:47:12.93 from Operation Child Rescue. So maybe somebody wants to cover the whole amount for a 00:47:12.93\00:47:16.56 whole year. But that would be every little bit will help every little bit will help. So 00:47:16.56\00:47:20.24 when you're talking about you're taking at >> risk girls who 00:47:20.24\00:47:22.77 you're talking about them prevention. >> Some prevention, but I'm Jason has some stories 00:47:22.77\00:47:30.78 that we'll incredible that we just got right of some of those 35 girls that are currently in 00:47:30.78\00:47:35.85 the program. And that was kind of our understanding, too, is that these girls were really 00:47:35.85\00:47:41.82 one step away. Maybe they had a sister who was already selling at the truck stop. She 00:47:41.82\00:47:47.03 was getting pulled into that lifestyle. >> But we heard some 00:47:47.03\00:47:49.86 stories just this week. Tragic stories. True stories and I'll share one. they would go 00:47:49.86\00:47:59.34 around the team at Riverside, they would interview people in the local community trying to 00:47:59.34\00:48:03.01 find who kind of fit the profile of the type of girl. We're looking to rescue and 00:48:03.01\00:48:09.05 they would find them like I said, kind of one sept removed. But this girl, they 00:48:09.05\00:48:12.25 found out just recently is kind of telling her whole story. She 00:48:12.25\00:48:18.29 had an aunt who kind of begged her father to take her to come live with her, OK? And I think 00:48:18.29\00:48:22.33 something happened to the mom. We didn't hear all the story there. But the father finally 00:48:22.33\00:48:26.57 said, OK, you can go live with your aunt and the and started trafficking. Her. And so she 00:48:26.57\00:48:31.21 would for sure to go sell at a truck stop. Probably the same truck. Stop there and she 00:48:31.21\00:48:37.25 would have to sell vegetables and then and would also trafficker to the truck 00:48:37.25\00:48:41.02 drivers 4 different type of sex acts there. So this came out. Now there's a counselor 00:48:41.02\00:48:49.99 every side and these started opening up and telling their story. I was trafficked by 00:48:49.99\00:48:54.00 law. And so this is one of the girls who have rescued right now. Another one I just heard 00:48:54.00\00:48:57.03 the story of went to live at an orphanage. She sent a similar situation and dropped 00:48:57.03\00:49:04.01 off an orphanage. And there she kind of being, I think, physically abuse share a very 00:49:04.01\00:49:10.88 hard life, an orphanage when she was complaining to the aunt. So the and took her to 00:49:10.88\00:49:15.25 another orphanage and the orphanage started trafficking. This girl, the orphan of the 00:49:15.25\00:49:21.59 orphanage itself. And so one day workers from Riverside came to 00:49:21.59\00:49:26.63 the orphanage and said, hey, we have a donor in the United States. Child impact has agreed 00:49:26.63\00:49:31.60 to sponsor a certain number of of girls from this community. And they did interviews and to 00:49:31.60\00:49:36.37 get into Riverside. It's a it's a very high level academic school. You have to pass a test 00:49:36.37\00:49:42.04 to get in this era passed the test and she was admitted as one of these 35 girls sponsored by 00:49:42.04\00:49:48.12 child impact and she was rescued from that orphanage where she was being trafficked 00:49:48.12\00:49:52.92 So you think of a place that would be safe for kids to go? I'm safe. People use those. To 00:49:52.92\00:49:58.09 their economic advantage and they use these kids to make money for themself. And so 00:49:58.09\00:50:02.93 those are stories that we just heard that the kids road themself just this week. 00:50:02.93\00:50:07.57 >> Well, and we found out that one was making very unusual Christmas gift request one 00:50:07.57\00:50:12.91 things for babies like diapers and these kind of things and she she wasn't. Yeah, she had 00:50:12.91\00:50:17.95 a child that she would take care of when she went back on school break and this was not 00:50:17.95\00:50:22.28 known until these unusual request are coming for gifts. Again, these are teenagers. 00:50:22.28\00:50:27.79 The majority of children brought that first group of 35 or for Great Satan grades 10 00:50:27.79\00:50:32.16 because there's no government exam during those 2 years. And so they want to give them a 00:50:32.16\00:50:36.53 year of school before then they have to be tested with government exam. So he's in 00:50:36.53\00:50:40.44 the chance to catch up a little bit academically, >> That's 00:50:40.44\00:50:45.31 incredible. So I'm gonna go back to the aunt who trafficked in. Then we can keep going with 00:50:45.31\00:50:48.18 this. But how do you do with that? I'm not even talking for the kids perspective. I'm 00:50:48.18\00:50:53.92 talking from your perspective because you work with us. How do you even forgive? I mean, I'm 00:50:53.92\00:50:59.85 just sitting here boil How could that? So how can you do that here? How do you even 00:50:59.85\00:51:05.63 yourselves work through that? I mean, I'd be angry. >> So at 00:51:05.63\00:51:09.96 this last example Thomas talking about when they went to interview the girls, they found 00:51:09.96\00:51:15.70 out this year's being sexually abused by a family member. And so they took her out of that 00:51:15.70\00:51:20.41 situation and they took her to another family member where she was safe. What the team didn't 00:51:20.41\00:51:24.05 know is that while she was being abused, she got pregnant. And so 00:51:24.05\00:51:31.49 even after they relocated to her her to a safe place, she had the child and then she would sell 00:51:31.49\00:51:34.36 vegetables every day after school to kind of earn extra money to help pay for child 00:51:34.36\00:51:38.46 back home. And so it didn't come out like Tom said until so child impact has 3300 kids 00:51:38.46\00:51:47.40 that we sponsor and people donate every year to a special fund called the Gift Fund 00:51:47.40\00:51:51.07 where every child in our sponsorship program gets a Christmas gift. And we give 00:51:51.07\00:51:56.04 money to the field officers. In this case, we gave it to Riverside a certain amount per 00:51:56.04\00:52:00.22 child and now asked the kids, hey, what would you like for Christmas this year? And so we 00:52:00.22\00:52:05.12 really try to give the kids the opportunity to decide for themselves. You know, they can 00:52:05.12\00:52:06.92 make a little wish list. And that was what her wish list was was toys, you know, baby 00:52:06.92\00:52:13.83 food, things like that. And so that's when they found out. So they tried to intervene, 00:52:13.83\00:52:18.07 trying to get her away from that situation as much as possible. And so that's really 00:52:18.07\00:52:22.04 the response gets interest safe place immediately and then work 00:52:22.04\00:52:26.78 with them and walk with them through that trauma and healing process. So the powerful thing 00:52:26.78\00:52:32.11 about having the storm, a Tory on site is were renting right now and they have to be escorted 00:52:32.11\00:52:35.78 onto campus. >> So there's a little bit of a walk to get on 00:52:35.78\00:52:39.59 the campus and one of the challenges I think of a picture on this. One of 4 children that 00:52:39.59\00:52:43.96 I met that are. Not within walking distance. they're all orphans who their parents passed 00:52:43.96\00:52:52.77 away. And so the grandmothers looking after them, but they're 00:52:52.77\00:52:56.91 too far to walk to Riverside Farm to go to school. We're taking on 100 new students for 00:52:56.91\00:53:03.55 sponsorship. Riverside, they're being processed right now at the primary school and separate 00:53:03.55\00:53:08.55 from the 100. Yeah. This is separate from that. And of course they get they get there 00:53:08.55\00:53:12.59 and they get this education there that were there in the protection opportunity there. 00:53:12.59\00:53:15.59 They're in a safe place, we've been able to provide funding for a couple of buses, child 00:53:15.59\00:53:24.93 impact buses in Zambia. And of course, recess Riverside Farm on the to, of course. now 00:53:24.93\00:53:29.80 these children can actually get safely to the school being picked up in impoverished 00:53:29.80\00:53:34.48 communities. I think Ashley can tell you what it's like in some of those You've been 00:53:34.48\00:53:38.41 there. Yeah. >> I mean, I'll be totally honest. Like I had no 00:53:38.41\00:53:45.39 idea what poverty looks like. You now have grown up in the United States. My whole life. 00:53:45.39\00:53:49.19 I never really lived in any sort situation like that. And then I was in Zambia for 10 00:53:49.19\00:53:54.30 months. So, you know, it's a pretty long time. Definitely pea pod. I have received 00:53:54.30\00:53:57.93 longer than that. And but just like being exposed to like the people living in this village 00:53:57.93\00:54:04.04 is the grass roofs. They all every single one of them grows maize for a living. And then 00:54:04.04\00:54:10.95 every single one of them well go and sell the exact same vegetables at the market 00:54:10.95\00:54:16.99 because they all by from the same farmer. So the all buy tomatoes, all by the green 00:54:16.99\00:54:21.79 beans all by charcoal. And then you go to the market and its all 00:54:21.79\00:54:28.20 the same thing. Everyone still in the exact same thing to make a living so like what me and my 00:54:28.20\00:54:33.30 like falls to missionaries would always try to do is just like pick a vegetable from like each 00:54:33.30\00:54:37.51 person says it all get like a fair chance. You know, even though it probably be easier, 00:54:37.51\00:54:41.98 just get it all at once. So we go to each but I just have to say the whole experience is 00:54:41.98\00:54:48.85 just it was a change like my world view completely and I think one of one of the most 00:54:48.85\00:54:56.19 impactful things is probably thinking about how like all the verses in the Bible. It 00:54:56.19\00:54:59.69 talk about how God has, you know, chosen asked to be his children and then like 00:54:59.69\00:55:04.80 applying that to the contacts of like he has chosen me accounting 00:55:04.80\00:55:11.21 major from the United States. In the same way he's chosen the African Bushman out here who's 00:55:11.21\00:55:16.01 like never left his country and just grows maize. And that's all he knows. And he loves us 00:55:16.01\00:55:21.12 all the same. And chosen follow same It's really cool. That is 00:55:21.12\00:55:26.62 beautiful. I love that. What a wonderful, spiritual lesson to learn from that. That is 00:55:26.62\00:55:31.13 incredible. >> So we just have a couple moments left and we're going to have a break and come 00:55:31.13\00:55:33.70 back for the second hour. So right now you have 35 girls right now in the program. Are 00:55:33.70\00:55:42.24 they all sponsored? >> There's still some available to sponsor. 00:55:42.24\00:55:44.57 We actually have right now on our website, 18 from Zambia. There are a few from a another 00:55:44.57\00:55:52.01 school this nearby. Again, us the context very similar, wherever and that way, this 00:55:52.01\00:55:56.52 was all trafficked or just sitting. There are a lot of orphans in that particular so 00:55:56.52\00:56:01.42 but there are some of the girls there on the site right now. And 00:56:01.42\00:56:05.69 of course, then there's going to be a lot more added as the dormitory gets completed. That's 00:56:05.69\00:56:10.53 our hope that we can see those supported to go there. So. >> So you you're trying to get 00:56:10.53\00:56:16.07 100 is you're to try 100 girls and their yeah. In that, go ahead. I just want longer they 00:56:16.07\00:56:21.64 stay with you. How many Well, the ones will come in again will probably be typically 8th 00:56:21.64\00:56:27.55 grade in 10th grade and so on, they learn a trade. They'll get an education. We hope that 00:56:27.55\00:56:32.32 they can graduate with skills that are living. >> And we've 00:56:32.32\00:56:35.59 seen this work because we were just in India and we have work in a slum there there's a lot of 00:56:35.59\00:56:41.66 prostitution. I mean, I was standing up to rooftop of this in that house prostitution. 00:56:41.66\00:56:43.87 There's prostitution there. All of this. And yet we had a sewing and tailoring program 00:56:43.87\00:56:51.51 that we're offering in the community. And these ladies who are in prostitution will 00:56:51.51\00:56:53.44 come in and learn different skill. And this has been going a couple years ago and our 00:56:53.44\00:57:00.85 cameramen went house to house and met these ladies that now are tailoring and with their 00:57:00.85\00:57:05.55 sewing machines that they were given and is transforming this. This ghetto of the slum 00:57:05.55\00:57:11.19 area. And I walked by and that a young lady who knows enters has gone through with child 00:57:11.19\00:57:16.30 impact. And so it's just exciting to see that it does work. So we know those girls 00:57:16.30\00:57:22.04 coming to Riverside will have a different future once they graduate and you keep them as 00:57:22.04\00:57:26.17 long as it takes, or is it more they're here till they graduate 00:57:26.17\00:57:31.95 like their senior years? >> Yeah, we will hold answer at seconds. We're going to 00:57:31.95\00:57:34.82 hold the answer for that and we'll come back in just a moment. And answer that we 00:57:34.82\00:57:38.19 want to encourage you become involved in helping children around the world will be right 00:57:38.19\00:57:43.19 back into ¤ ¤ 00:57:43.19\00:58:05.95
