We're so glad that 00:01:05.86\00:01:08.53 you joined us this evening. One of the reasons we enjoy 00:01:08.53\00:01:11.13 spending these 2 hours with use because you're part of the 00:01:11.13\00:01:13.50 3ABN, families. And we just want to say thank you for your 00:01:13.50\00:01:16.57 prayers and financial support for this ministry 00:01:16.57\00:01:19.14 because because of you, we're able to reach the entire world 00:01:19.14\00:01:22.64 for Jesus Christ, right? And that's with Reagan is all 00:01:22.64\00:01:25.35 about is about spreading the gospel, especially in these end 00:01:25.35\00:01:28.22 times. But tonight's two-hour special live program is going 00:01:28.22\00:01:31.52 to be really fun, isn't it tonight? 00:01:31.52\00:01:33.29 >> It is indeed because we have an incredible document too 00:01:33.29\00:01:37.13 early to talk about and share that came from the Adventist 00:01:37.13\00:01:40.93 Review Media team. 00:01:40.93\00:01:42.30 >> Wait, you said we're going to watch the documentary night. 00:01:42.30\00:01:45.03 Oh, wow. That is unusual for today. Life program. 00:01:45.03\00:01:48.07 >> Siad this story and the testimony of a changed life and 00:01:48.07\00:01:53.78 how that life is changing and influencing and impacting his 00:01:53.78\00:01:59.11 community and the world for Christ. So we want to introduce 00:01:59.11\00:02:02.72 to you our family around the table tonight. Elder bill, 00:02:02.72\00:02:07.46 not we have known and loved you for many years. He is the 00:02:07.46\00:02:11.66 executive editor of 73 View Ministries and it is a 00:02:11.66\00:02:15.53 privilege to have you here. 00:02:15.53\00:02:17.27 >> It is a delight to finally get to be here to talk with you 00:02:17.27\00:02:21.44 about this, this product that we're really pleased to share 00:02:21.44\00:02:24.34 with the theme. You know, thank you so much for your support. 00:02:24.34\00:02:26.81 Also 3, again, through the years and like Joe mentioned, 00:02:26.81\00:02:29.38 your friend to us personally, but also to the ministry 3. 00:02:29.38\00:02:32.11 Then you're all about supporting ministries in the 00:02:32.11\00:02:34.02 course of work for the obvious church for many, many years. 00:02:34.02\00:02:36.69 But your heart is in evangelism. 00:02:36.69\00:02:38.55 >> Well, you know, you see what God is doing. I had the 00:02:38.55\00:02:42.19 privilege of doing this around the world. And you think that's 00:02:42.19\00:02:45.29 a story that just has to be told somewhere else. Other 00:02:45.29\00:02:48.76 people are going to be changed or moved by it. And that's been 00:02:48.76\00:02:51.97 the privilege to be able to pick those stories and help 00:02:51.97\00:02:55.54 introduce them through friends and other media opportunities 00:02:55.54\00:02:58.84 and then. 00:02:58.84\00:03:00.31 >> So for those that don't know you, you have a wife to start 00:03:00.31\00:03:01.78 your kids, grandkids, and how long you've been in ministry. 00:03:01.78\00:03:05.01 >> But in ministry, 43 years, wow, and pastored for about 18 00:03:05.01\00:03:10.89 of those years. And for the last 25 years, I've been that 00:03:10.89\00:03:14.26 they had been a street view. And in the last 00:03:14.26\00:03:18.03 2 thirds of that time, 16 years as the executive editor it it, 00:03:18.03\00:03:23.06 I have grown up a long in the tooth is the and actually it 00:03:23.06\00:03:30.27 surprises me every now and again, when I look around and 00:03:30.27\00:03:32.61 realize just the span and how my own life it's changed. 00:03:32.61\00:03:37.11 My wife, Debbie, is that systems as a manager in General 00:03:37.11\00:03:41.38 Conference, human Resources Department file and heavily 00:03:41.38\00:03:44.42 engaged between it and human resources. I have 2 sons. 00:03:44.42\00:03:48.56 One is a pastor and communication director of the 00:03:48.56\00:03:50.93 Chesapeake Conference. Evan and his wife live just 20 minutes 00:03:50.93\00:03:54.23 from us. My other son Brady is a physical therapist and he and 00:03:54.23\00:03:57.80 his wife and our 2 krantz. It's a way as well. So it's a 00:03:57.80\00:04:02.90 wonderful time in our lives to be close to them and to to 00:04:02.90\00:04:06.68 really enjoy what God has given us as a as an extended family. 00:04:06.68\00:04:11.08 And then 00:04:11.08\00:04:12.48 >> you notice how he said and 2 friends. So I did notice that 00:04:12.48\00:04:15.65 the grand kids family again, it is priced alert for that coming 00:04:15.65\00:04:20.96 around the table here. We have Gabriel Bagel, who is the 00:04:20.96\00:04:23.86 director of digital platforms for adding to its review 00:04:23.86\00:04:27.23 ministries. And we have gotten to know you more recently, 00:04:27.23\00:04:30.57 of course, an elder not but Gabriel as well is a man of 00:04:30.57\00:04:33.70 God. And so appreciate not only your creativity and skill, 00:04:33.70\00:04:37.71 but your heart for people. It's right. Thank you for being 00:04:37.71\00:04:41.68 here tonight. 00:04:41.68\00:04:43.11 >> Thank you for having me. It's a pleasure. So tell us a 00:04:43.11\00:04:45.35 little bit of what you've done and your family as well because 00:04:45.35\00:04:48.25 you've been a media probably since you were a baby. 00:04:48.25\00:04:50.12 >> One that's true. Up in the in the house of an evangelist 00:04:50.12\00:04:55.72 okay in South America. So my dad and mom have, you know, 00:04:55.72\00:05:00.36 the cable shows Shannon's, he's, you know, as a child. 00:05:00.36\00:05:04.23 So, yeah, it's been a that experience and also throughout 00:05:04.23\00:05:07.30 college when I was studying theology, you know, help, 00:05:07.30\00:05:10.91 you know, in production, but not the end. More recently more 00:05:10.91\00:05:15.58 formally put a conference Hearst and then they work for a 00:05:15.58\00:05:19.78 channel for Dickey allowed in and how the privilege is for 00:05:19.78\00:05:24.49 for years now. This working together with with Bill not 00:05:24.49\00:05:28.49 I've been through ministries. Families have small family. 00:05:28.49\00:05:32.39 My wife, Annie have been married for 14 years. Wow. 00:05:32.39\00:05:35.56 And a half to, you know, long waiting period. God blessed us 00:05:35.56\00:05:40.87 with that with a little girl that is for you for your soul. 00:05:40.87\00:05:44.37 Now the 2 and a U.S. change our life. Haha. So, yeah, you know, 00:05:44.37\00:05:50.75 people confuse that little kid with, you know, our 00:05:50.75\00:05:54.82 granddaughter, but it's not that. 00:05:54.82\00:05:56.25 >> Had the privilege of meeting her a few months ago. Leach to 00:05:56.25\00:06:01.36 cute adorable thing. 00:06:01.36\00:06:04.23 >> Good. So before we jump into the documentary, tell us just a 00:06:04.23\00:06:07.50 little bit older, not about the umbrella of Atlanta's to review 00:06:07.50\00:06:10.40 ministries and what that's all that. 00:06:10.40\00:06:13.40 >> The name is probably the best to recognize. Brandon had 00:06:13.40\00:06:16.94 been to some some surveys show that a few years ago. And for 00:06:16.94\00:06:20.11 most people, that means a magazine to print journal they 00:06:20.11\00:06:23.51 grew up with when I came to the ministry. That's what it meant. 00:06:23.51\00:06:27.72 It. I've I've thought that God must have a great sense of 00:06:27.72\00:06:31.05 humor to bring a historian who loves paper in print in to lead 00:06:31.05\00:06:36.29 into the digital age of the magazine because it's not my 00:06:36.29\00:06:40.20 custom to world. It's not the world I would choose. I when I 00:06:40.20\00:06:43.63 want to read something, I don't go online and I want to curl up 00:06:43.63\00:06:47.34 in the corner and read something hard copy. And so the 00:06:47.34\00:06:50.34 irony of my coming to the Ministry of the moment of just 00:06:50.34\00:06:54.91 explosive growth in the media generally and specifically the 00:06:54.91\00:06:58.55 development of digital platforms for administrative 00:06:58.55\00:07:01.25 you, including making documentaries that something I 00:07:01.25\00:07:06.22 can't even pretend I saw on the horizon. It might be tempting 00:07:06.22\00:07:10.56 to say yes, this is part of some big strategic vision. 00:07:10.56\00:07:13.13 No, the Lord brought us people like Gabriel who have a vision 00:07:13.13\00:07:17.67 for non print story. Tele digital storytelling showing us 00:07:17.67\00:07:23.27 in ways that connect better with younger generations. 00:07:23.27\00:07:25.87 Matricula early how to convey the same truths in beautiful 00:07:25.87\00:07:29.54 new ways. And the timeless story of God's redemption in 00:07:29.54\00:07:33.92 people's lives is really the purpose that made us move as a 00:07:33.92\00:07:38.45 whole ministry and in this case toward telling the story in a 00:07:38.45\00:07:41.62 documentary. Yeah. 00:07:41.62\00:07:43.06 >> And then I want to just touch on the aspect of the 00:07:43.06\00:07:44.86 atmosphere. You review your talking about print. Yeah, 00:07:44.86\00:07:47.36 and you're talking about digital which doesn't mean that 00:07:47.36\00:07:49.43 the Evers evidence review is just on your cell phone in your 00:07:49.43\00:07:52.63 talking. Actually video audio evidence review and doing 00:07:52.63\00:07:57.14 documentaries. But you also have avenues for our TV. 00:07:57.14\00:08:00.38 Tell us a little bit about that, too, because some of you 00:08:00.38\00:08:01.98 say, well, there's more than just documentaries. 00:08:01.98\00:08:03.95 >> Evidence review TV is really in part the creation of Gabriel 00:08:03.95\00:08:07.82 and several others on the team who brought together an idea 00:08:07.82\00:08:12.25 that we could have is an on-demand platform. Each are 00:08:12.25\00:08:16.42 the best of Adventists programming and creating a 00:08:16.42\00:08:20.76 place that's family friendly where individuals can go in 00:08:20.76\00:08:24.57 search. But Harry Uhl's by category. You want to watch a 00:08:24.57\00:08:27.40 nature video with your family on Friday night. You've got 00:08:27.40\00:08:29.74 many choices. You want to have a children's programming. 00:08:29.74\00:08:33.31 Many choices. You want to look at the theological content 00:08:33.31\00:08:37.58 where you want to look at mission will content. We're 00:08:37.58\00:08:39.75 giving people giving are viewers choices is really what 00:08:39.75\00:08:44.52 we've learned is the future of our ministry. When print will 00:08:44.52\00:08:48.39 always be a core component, correct. And we do that in vast 00:08:48.39\00:08:52.96 quantities. But in the last 7 years, particularly has helped 00:08:52.96\00:08:58.17 us branch out, particularly evidence. Review TV is probably 00:08:58.17\00:09:01.70 one of our best known products now because it has hundreds of 00:09:01.70\00:09:05.61 pieces of content that reach across all kinds of topics. 00:09:05.61\00:09:09.34 So how does somebody go there and find this content for the 00:09:09.34\00:09:12.51 Web site? 00:09:12.51\00:09:13.78 >> Yeah, they just go to live in to review that TV in this 00:09:13.78\00:09:16.15 case, the o*** with big them to our main Web site. But if you 00:09:16.15\00:09:19.95 do that TV, then they can come to our media platform. Logan is 00:09:19.95\00:09:25.16 free, of course, and then consume the content perhaps to 00:09:25.16\00:09:29.00 only add a little bit to what you said, Bill, hard to up to 00:09:29.00\00:09:31.90 that that the the the emphases that were placing even though 00:09:31.90\00:09:36.17 moving forward is that we want to have the same for season 2, 00:09:36.17\00:09:39.91 it quit paying. That's how his case to members to go and make 00:09:39.91\00:09:45.41 disciples as well. So that's an infancy sets and love that. 00:09:45.41\00:09:49.48 That's the historic mission of the ministry from 18. 49, 00:09:49.48\00:09:53.82 not simply too. 00:09:53.82\00:09:55.89 >> To help people feel comfortable in being at Venice, 00:09:55.89\00:09:58.63 but to help them feel comfortable in sharing that 00:09:58.63\00:10:00.90 data. And the the focus that is particularly coming in the 00:10:00.90\00:10:04.87 months ahead will align our content with that equipping 00:10:04.87\00:10:09.27 side even more directly. I'm very good. 00:10:09.27\00:10:13.78 >> We're going to be going to the documentary which we're 00:10:13.78\00:10:15.84 talking about. So want to set that up for us because we're 00:10:15.84\00:10:18.51 going to do this evening. It's about a one-hour 00:10:18.51\00:10:20.18 documentary. We're going to talk about a little bit of set 00:10:20.18\00:10:22.52 it up. Watch about 30 minutes of it. Go to the break and come 00:10:22.52\00:10:25.69 back. Watch the next 30 minutes or so and then close this this 00:10:25.69\00:10:29.02 2 hours but set the story of force because this is a really 00:10:29.02\00:10:32.56 powerful story. Joe and I have the opportunity of seeing the 00:10:32.56\00:10:36.16 did debut mayor say was that about 3 years ago move just 00:10:36.16\00:10:40.37 almost exactly 3 years ago. Yes, it's powerful testament to 00:10:40.37\00:10:43.47 set this up for us. We're getting ready to see. 00:10:43.47\00:10:46.44 >> Sometimes as a said, the Lord brings a story you didn't 00:10:46.44\00:10:49.88 expect and and shows you something you never knew was 00:10:49.88\00:10:53.92 coming. I was in Europe on several items related to the 00:10:53.92\00:10:57.75 business of having a street view and was asked to make a 00:10:57.75\00:11:00.42 visit on a very financially successful. Dennis does miss 00:11:00.42\00:11:05.36 and to see if he would be interested in investing in a 00:11:05.36\00:11:09.03 film production. I had never met him. I got directions to 00:11:09.03\00:11:13.67 the tiny little farm town. He lives in outside of Prague. 00:11:13.67\00:11:16.97 And in the summer of 2008, he made my way out there. Not only 00:11:16.97\00:11:21.28 did he agree to help invest in the film. He started telling me 00:11:21.28\00:11:24.65 a bit about his life, walked me around the town and they began 00:11:24.65\00:11:28.18 realizing what this man had contributed to his community. 00:11:28.18\00:11:32.59 His own personal story was so compelling. I thought I said to 00:11:32.59\00:11:36.56 him, 00:11:36.56\00:11:37.43 the team has anyone told your story. 00:11:37.43\00:11:41.63 I've told him that a few of Angeles tick meetings, but no 00:11:41.63\00:11:44.33 one else was sure that I said 00:11:44.33\00:11:46.77 we will do that game. And and so it took us a year to get 00:11:46.77\00:11:50.64 everything organized, to get the film crew to get our own 00:11:50.64\00:11:53.27 team ready to go and to get into his schedule. It takes 00:11:53.27\00:11:56.51 months to get into this very busy man schedule. So in the 00:11:56.51\00:11:59.38 summer of 2019, good Gabriel and the team that include crew 00:11:59.38\00:12:05.45 from Ukrainian Hope Media Center. They drove from the 00:12:05.45\00:12:08.79 Ukraine down to be with us in the Czech Republic. Here we are 00:12:08.79\00:12:12.49 all gathered in this this tiny little farm town where he lives 00:12:12.49\00:12:17.30 and 00:12:17.30\00:12:18.57 you begin to understand us. His story unfolds that God has 00:12:18.57\00:12:22.97 been at work in this man's life 00:12:22.97\00:12:25.31 since he was a child. Well, much of it in 00:12:25.31\00:12:29.14 careful, slow developmental ways. Until finally, he was 00:12:29.14\00:12:33.18 ready to make a decision for faith, 00:12:33.18\00:12:35.65 even in the midst of some very difficult life stirs. 00:12:35.65\00:12:38.92 >> That's what I was going to ask is why his story. There's 00:12:38.92\00:12:41.42 many people with many powerful stories. We know that he went 00:12:41.42\00:12:45.56 from sweeping the streets yesterday to owning this yet. 00:12:45.56\00:12:48.63 So he's wealthy. He's a businessman. He gives back. 00:12:48.63\00:12:52.00 But why specifically his story? 00:12:52.00\00:12:55.27 >> I have never met anyone who uses 00:12:55.27\00:12:58.94 the wealth. God has blessed him with quite as easily meaning 00:12:58.94\00:13:03.51 his his sense of I must return this to the people around me. 00:13:03.51\00:13:09.05 If you look at it, the community he's helped to build 00:13:09.05\00:13:13.09 in his little farm town. If you look at what he's done 00:13:13.09\00:13:16.46 in his business park in Prague, you begin to get a sense that 00:13:16.46\00:13:20.36 here's a man who believes that what God has blessed me with 00:13:20.36\00:13:24.07 Imus to return to bless the lives of others so that if 00:13:24.07\00:13:28.30 they're the one out sweeping the streets today, God may have 00:13:28.30\00:13:31.21 a future for them that they haven't even envisioned. 00:13:31.21\00:13:34.04 That's powerful. But you get real. 00:13:34.04\00:13:36.88 >> You're involved with this documentary. You're the 00:13:36.88\00:13:39.35 producer, correct? And we tried, you know, one thing that 00:13:39.35\00:13:43.02 the bill has some really one of the things he's at. 00:13:43.02\00:13:46.55 And can you just mentioned that we try to work with teams and 00:13:46.55\00:13:51.33 people around the world that are willing to, you know, 00:13:51.33\00:13:53.96 to see the vision and go for it. So in this case, yeah, 00:13:53.96\00:13:57.13 we produced it. We helped on that in the assembled a team in 00:13:57.13\00:14:01.24 this case, this young team from the Ukraine came to help us 00:14:01.24\00:14:04.81 drove was a way to Czech Republic. It was amazing to see 00:14:04.81\00:14:09.41 18 year-old drone operator do the same. But just because 00:14:09.41\00:14:12.71 you're going to see another view is that, you know, your 00:14:12.71\00:14:14.65 audience is going to see now these beautiful shots. And of course, having 00:14:23.49\00:14:27.13 bill, not the storyteller and you know, that sealed the deal 00:14:27.13\00:14:30.90 in a in a cope. The move us how can can, you know, see how this 00:14:30.90\00:14:35.90 story unfolds. Kate 00:40:45.74\00:40:49.18 kneel down 00:40:49.18\00:40:50.65 and the ticket that won him both to God's hands. 00:40:50.65\00:40:54.25 And that will see one of the day at this moment in my life. 00:40:54.25\00:40:57.79 [MUSIC] 00:40:57.79\00:41:00.62 >> We as later I had serious car accident. 00:41:00.62\00:41:04.29 [MUSIC] 00:41:04.29\00:41:06.36 >> We've got Makar was slit saved my life. I was the only 00:41:06.36\00:41:10.30 person who was involved in the accident. I will say it is Lee 00:41:10.30\00:41:13.44 in Jordan. My head I'm I've got safe my life and he complete 00:41:13.44\00:41:19.11 played the opening on the lake to. I've got to know that 00:41:19.11\00:41:22.44 notice some of the nation should get to my wife and some 00:41:22.44\00:41:25.38 of them. And so it will set up an for situation. I need it. 00:41:40.16\00:41:43.26 A local forgiveness to compete there. Trump, the Steelers, 00:41:43.26\00:41:47.20 9 bathrooms, every single person or anything 00:41:47.20\00:41:51.54 to be in the Nets kingdom. He should do the same shortly 00:41:51.54\00:41:55.68 after the boyfriend of my life. 00:41:55.68\00:41:58.81 >> Going back to me and ask for forgiveness. So we met. I 00:41:58.81\00:42:03.02 talked to him where I am. If God forgave me for the 00:42:03.02\00:42:06.96 field, it was one of the nicest expensive, the guy that 00:42:06.96\00:42:11.03 everybody does. Most of them really they matter and the 00:42:11.03\00:42:14.46 great experiences well to be as if people do, when do we stay 00:42:14.46\00:42:19.40 calm 00:42:19.40\00:42:20.50 that can income I this throwing person alive? I couldn't 00:42:20.50\00:42:25.47 imagine I would be accept that my only son that time and I 00:42:25.47\00:42:29.18 think, you know, would be raised by him. 00:42:29.18\00:42:32.01 >> We spoke to off the sometime. I'm the school mice 00:42:32.01\00:42:36.22 mice. 00:42:36.22\00:42:37.35 I like him. So it means the economy is such a big first we 00:42:37.35\00:42:41.72 go. And and today I I'm really grateful to God he corpse 00:42:41.72\00:42:48.26 locally to start. 00:42:48.26\00:42:49.73 >> And I do believe the video, different lifestyle and how 00:42:49.73\00:42:52.73 he's leaving now used to box the laws and the moment he 00:42:52.73\00:42:56.30 changed his lifestyle led him back to tease business world in 00:42:56.30\00:43:00.81 a positive way. 00:43:00.81\00:43:03.48 >> A man that's an income double start to the document. 00:43:03.48\00:43:07.58 Harry redeemed. The cinematography is amazing and I 00:43:07.58\00:43:12.72 love the video. I love the way you put that together. But to 00:43:12.72\00:43:16.32 me, the heart of this is the story. Yes, that is the heart 00:43:16.32\00:43:20.73 in the change in to think of what really impacted me was 00:43:20.73\00:43:25.10 that intimate portion part way through where reading talked 00:43:25.10\00:43:29.07 about the death of little mass. Yeah. And the pain that he went 00:43:29.07\00:43:33.07 through. But yet in the midst of that difficulty, how God 00:43:33.07\00:43:36.85 brought transformation and healing, that's powerful. 00:43:36.85\00:43:40.85 >> When I first heard the outlines of that stirring a 00:43:40.85\00:43:44.19 year previous to our crew going there, 00:43:44.19\00:43:46.69 I was caught by the vulnerability that the Dean 00:43:46.69\00:43:49.46 demonstrated many individuals who succeeded in the 00:43:49.46\00:43:52.99 professional world find ways of sort of smoothing over the 00:43:52.99\00:43:56.67 awkward and painful parts of their past. He's chosen not to 00:43:56.67\00:44:00.64 his chosen to remember it and to tell it 00:44:00.64\00:44:03.67 and knowing that the power of the gospel in them in the mind 00:44:03.67\00:44:08.21 of those who hear his story will remind them of the 00:44:08.21\00:44:11.45 possibilities of change and transformation in their own 00:44:11.45\00:44:14.12 lives. 00:44:14.12\00:44:15.28 I found it deeply emotional for me to sit there and hear him 00:44:15.28\00:44:21.52 tell the story in full a year after his goal. Instead, 00:44:21.52\00:44:24.96 I didn't hold many of the details until the second 00:44:24.96\00:44:28.30 opportunity with the crew. 00:44:28.30\00:44:30.37 And as he talked, 00:44:30.37\00:44:32.03 I began to get the sense that this was going to be the part 00:44:32.03\00:44:35.84 that was most memorable of the of the first portion of this 00:44:35.84\00:44:40.91 film because 00:44:40.91\00:44:42.48 so many people have a story like this, difficulty pain, 00:44:42.48\00:44:48.08 challenge Voss and get God uses those to achieve a moment of of 00:44:48.08\00:44:54.86 of joy of transformation in their life. And they can begin 00:44:54.86\00:44:58.79 to understand that all things to work together for good for 00:44:58.79\00:45:03.60 those who love God, we don't see that in one week or one 00:45:03.60\00:45:06.94 month or even sometimes one year. Sure. But the long arc of 00:45:06.94\00:45:10.57 what God is doing becomes visible in lives and redeem 00:45:10.57\00:45:14.44 very 00:45:14.44\00:45:15.51 boldly puts that story have front. That's what made it 00:45:15.51\00:45:19.15 compelling. What makes a compelling video? 00:45:19.15\00:45:21.88 >> Yeah, absolutely. You know his conversion experience. 00:45:21.88\00:45:24.35 Yeah, powerful. You know, he's he's obviously a very wealthy 00:45:24.35\00:45:27.96 man, right? Very, very successful, know, very 00:45:27.96\00:45:31.43 successful. But yet he was still missing something. 00:45:31.43\00:45:34.73 And it's interesting because I like how you guys I got the 00:45:34.73\00:45:37.37 story from like co-workers are business people or some that do 00:45:37.37\00:45:41.04 the work for him. And they're talking about the change that 00:45:41.04\00:45:43.64 they noticed that took place we need except to Christ and not 00:45:43.64\00:45:47.41 all of those individuals are persons of faith. 00:45:47.41\00:45:50.05 >> And they were in her interview there. Some of them 00:45:50.05\00:45:51.91 are our colleagues who have never made a faith commitment 00:45:51.91\00:45:54.42 or certainly not an administrate commitment. 00:45:54.42\00:45:56.75 And yet they're telling us about the changes they've seen 00:45:56.75\00:45:59.59 in his life because they've known him for 30 years, just 00:45:59.59\00:46:02.29 watched him go through this process of both a touring in 00:46:02.29\00:46:07.20 his own faith and being very public about inviting other 00:46:07.20\00:46:10.83 people to share. 00:46:10.83\00:46:12.77 >> Good to me. When I was watching it, there's 2 pivotal 00:46:12.77\00:46:15.74 moments. Now, of course, he will put it together you with 00:46:15.74\00:46:18.11 off and probably say there's different ones. But one, 00:46:18.11\00:46:20.34 of course, is the death of little Max. That's a given 00:46:20.34\00:46:22.88 moment. And then him studying the Bible except in Christ, 00:46:22.88\00:46:26.82 in the midst of grief and pain, seen that transformation. 00:46:26.82\00:46:30.39 But the other pivotal moment he's with his ex-wife and him. 00:46:30.39\00:46:34.99 Forgive me. That's so powerful. A point because so many times, 00:46:34.99\00:46:41.46 OK, we accept Christ and things are going well and 00:46:41.46\00:46:44.70 then another crisis occurs and then to actually for kieff 00:46:44.70\00:46:48.67 someone that's huge. 00:46:48.67\00:46:50.71 >> He said that that, you know, the whole crew when we heard 00:46:50.71\00:46:54.34 the story was most touched by it. You know, this man again in 00:46:54.34\00:46:59.41 that he's so wealthy and would not be in school board or a 00:46:59.41\00:47:02.22 bull in telling the stories. But we've got to see his heart 00:47:02.22\00:47:05.82 and how got transformed him from a person that will go to 00:47:05.82\00:47:09.86 parties. And, you know, and then, you know, the world, 00:47:09.86\00:47:12.69 these kinds of things to up the person that I can understand 00:47:12.69\00:47:15.83 the grace of God, that to the extent that he can forgive, 00:47:15.83\00:47:19.20 yes, something that, you know, many concealed this chest 00:47:19.20\00:47:21.84 height recent. How can you for keep something like these? 00:47:21.84\00:47:24.87 And he, you know, heap showed us how. And that's that's 00:47:24.87\00:47:28.58 amazing. Of course, he creates a door. But we, you know, 00:47:28.58\00:47:32.21 the that the calendar of got nice life was just amazing. 00:47:32.21\00:47:36.85 How got moved him from, you know, these place of not even 00:47:36.85\00:47:41.09 knowing Christ. 00:47:41.09\00:47:42.62 Do you know the extension of that scrase into someone else's 00:47:42.62\00:47:46.43 life? 00:47:46.43\00:47:47.50 >> The remarkable experience that we had hearing him talk 00:47:47.50\00:47:51.27 about how his ex-wife and her new husband are both 00:47:51.27\00:47:58.04 re baptized and are back in the Adventist faith again after 00:47:58.04\00:48:03.48 what many people would consider an irreconcilable rupture. 00:48:03.48\00:48:07.52 Now they all relate as friends. They see each other on social 00:48:07.52\00:48:13.05 things. Obviously, the Sharon raising a son, 00:48:13.05\00:48:16.06 the sad that we were in the area that I was attending a 00:48:16.06\00:48:20.90 outdoor evangelistic series that redeem preaching 00:48:20.90\00:48:24.40 his ex-wife is they're singing in the front row. I'm thinking 00:48:24.40\00:48:28.27 board. How do you do this? How do you how do you mend a 00:48:28.27\00:48:31.37 broken people this well, how do you go? That's how do you did 00:48:31.37\00:48:34.44 and how do you connect people who thought they would never 00:48:34.44\00:48:38.55 speak with these individuals again and bring them back where 00:48:38.55\00:48:41.72 they can say in the family of God, we're still engaged in our 00:48:41.72\00:48:46.65 commitments to care for each other, even though our personal 00:48:46.65\00:48:49.59 lives are going to parking. 00:48:49.59\00:48:51.49 >> You know, how do you go ahead? You're going to say 00:48:51.49\00:48:53.03 something. Oh, no, just the you know, something that happened 00:48:53.03\00:48:55.16 behind the scenes. If you are talking till about that moment 00:48:55.16\00:48:58.23 when when that intimate conversation happened right 00:48:58.23\00:49:01.20 after that. But being himself 00:49:01.20\00:49:03.94 grabs, you know, put in a prawn and serves a meal. Yeah, 00:49:03.94\00:49:08.54 for the whole crew, we have made the stage for you and you 00:49:08.54\00:49:12.05 know it. It's it's a typical chick. We have made that up. 00:49:12.05\00:49:15.62 And we know that area. And so, you know, just just so people 00:49:15.62\00:49:18.42 can can see how a person this wealthy can be so close and 00:49:18.42\00:49:23.19 have, you know, its feet on that 00:49:23.19\00:49:26.23 he actually serve the whole team. And one just to 00:49:26.23\00:49:30.77 experience that everybody, you know, I will really paid 00:49:30.77\00:49:34.47 attention to the ice of those parts of the younger, you know, 00:49:34.47\00:49:37.91 portion of the team, the the test could not believe in even 00:49:37.91\00:49:41.58 then 00:49:41.58\00:49:42.71 with these very simple things. So he'd be ready, managed to 00:49:42.71\00:49:47.68 minister to them and say, you know, so, you know, we will 00:49:47.68\00:49:50.32 come in have people that serve you. And I know that the least, 00:49:50.32\00:49:53.76 you know, you know, I want you to build comfortable and 00:49:53.76\00:49:56.22 welcoming might my house. 00:49:56.22\00:49:58.29 >> I was struck for the first time I met him that he has not 00:49:58.29\00:50:02.10 used his great commercial success to distance himself 00:50:02.10\00:50:05.57 from other people. He's actually used it as a way to 00:50:05.57\00:50:08.44 move in and say my life was broken. 00:50:08.44\00:50:12.01 God changed me. God can do things for you that you haven't 00:50:12.01\00:50:16.44 even imagined. When you when you hear that from someone who 00:50:16.44\00:50:20.22 has gone from, as you said, sweeping the streets, still 00:50:20.22\00:50:22.75 owning them, you realize the transforming power of God. 00:50:22.75\00:50:26.82 Is that part of the gospel? We as ad business has 00:50:26.82\00:50:30.06 historically underlined. Yes, God is saving us through 00:50:30.06\00:50:34.23 the grace of Jesus Christ. And we see celebrate that. 00:50:34.23\00:50:37.20 We tell you the world about that. And we also say that that 00:50:37.20\00:50:41.14 Greece transforms us over time more and the likeness of Jesus 00:50:41.14\00:50:45.57 so that we can forgive people who've heard us deeply. We can 00:50:45.57\00:50:51.01 build successful reconciled relationships with people who 00:50:51.01\00:50:54.88 have been treated as well. That illustrates the power of 00:50:54.88\00:50:58.29 the gospel that the apostle Paul writes about all the time. 00:50:58.29\00:51:01.32 It's not just the fact of salvation. It's the experience 00:51:01.32\00:51:05.13 of living alongside people got invites us to think of his 00:51:05.13\00:51:08.66 brothers and sisters. And and 00:51:08.66\00:51:11.10 >> at the beginning of the documentary is really good 00:51:11.10\00:51:14.67 year. It talks about 00:51:14.67\00:51:17.11 Matthew and about how it's easier for a camel to go 00:51:17.11\00:51:21.28 through the eye of a needle Richmond to enter heaven, 00:51:21.28\00:51:23.95 right? You talk about that the very beginning. So just comment 00:51:23.95\00:51:26.88 on that because I know that he's a very humble man. Yeah, 00:51:26.88\00:51:29.92 you get the same time. He's very successful. So how do you 00:51:29.92\00:51:34.19 then portray who he is without? You know, I know he doesn't 00:51:34.19\00:51:37.63 want to be like, oh, look what I've done, getting all the 00:51:37.63\00:51:40.33 stuff that's very that's that can be challenging, right? 00:51:40.33\00:51:44.23 But many people tend to put. 00:51:44.23\00:51:47.17 >> Those who have commercial success or welfare is in a 00:51:47.17\00:51:50.57 category that assumes these can't the people of deep faith. 00:51:50.57\00:51:55.01 It's a false assumption, but nonetheless, it's common. 00:51:55.01\00:51:58.98 And so we we knew that that question was going to be in 00:51:58.98\00:52:02.18 line to viewers when you walk through the gates of his home 00:52:02.18\00:52:06.86 in this small village and you see the 2 got these parts in 00:52:06.86\00:52:12.46 his garage and the Bentley and the receive these bins. And you 00:52:12.46\00:52:16.20 realize that he has many of the symbols of wealth and success 00:52:16.20\00:52:21.24 and achievement. 00:52:21.24\00:52:22.60 It can be tempting to say, well, then he must somehow be 00:52:22.60\00:52:26.34 kind of hiding his face, just the opposite. In fact, the more 00:52:26.34\00:52:30.41 time you spend with them and the more you realize that these 00:52:30.41\00:52:35.15 are simply as he says, the blessings of God in my life, 00:52:35.15\00:52:38.69 they aren't mine. I don't own them, got his put these in my 00:52:38.69\00:52:42.49 hands so that I can bless and help other people. And, you 00:52:42.49\00:52:45.79 know, I was surprised as I we listened to talked with that 00:52:45.79\00:52:50.97 people who've known him for years and the people in the 00:52:50.97\00:52:53.30 community who where he has built 00:52:53.30\00:52:56.27 town buildings and playgrounds for the children in this tiny 00:52:56.27\00:53:00.14 little village. 00:53:00.14\00:53:01.41 They all think of him as someone who's gospel 00:53:01.41\00:53:05.61 transformed life is changing their community. Au that to me 00:53:05.61\00:53:10.32 is our full is the best uses of the wealth to puts in people's 00:53:10.32\00:53:13.99 hands a man. 00:53:13.99\00:53:15.29 >> And by now the viewers have seen and we have all seen the 00:53:15.29\00:53:18.33 part of of he said the the secret for him that daily 00:53:18.33\00:53:24.30 time with Christ in the whole family holding hands, Portia 00:53:24.30\00:53:27.87 singing hymns, reading scripture and having up a life 00:53:27.87\00:53:31.97 of prayer each day so that, you know, he made the point. 00:53:31.97\00:53:37.05 That's the most important commitment they have. 00:53:37.05\00:53:40.02 >> On a daily basis. Thank you for bringing that up because 00:53:40.02\00:53:43.05 you mentioned it takes about 12 months to get in the 00:53:43.05\00:53:45.79 appointment with him. But he's made this time every day. 00:53:45.79\00:53:49.62 Every day is now, which is that every day he's a man who the of 00:53:49.62\00:53:53.70 >> of significant disciplines in the way he orders his life. 00:53:53.70\00:53:56.80 But the one that is primary to him is the commitment to that 00:53:56.80\00:54:00.07 family, those children to his wife. And you watch that in the 00:54:00.07\00:54:03.77 easiness with which they all move together and you see the 00:54:03.77\00:54:07.18 naturalness of the way faith lives in that household. 00:54:07.18\00:54:11.11 It isn't decorative. It's not put on because the cameras 00:54:11.11\00:54:14.38 running its in transit to the way this family lives. And 00:54:14.38\00:54:17.85 that's part of the fun. But we all look for authentic people. 00:54:17.85\00:54:21.79 Yeah. And as we mentioned, sometimes we doubt that those 00:54:21.79\00:54:24.76 with significant wealth or high positions are really authentic. 00:54:24.76\00:54:30.00 Write the story of redeem is the story of authenticity all 00:54:30.00\00:54:33.70 the way through. And in case you have you, Lucia INS, 00:54:33.70\00:54:36.40 we'll bring you right back to reality. What like the title of 00:54:36.40\00:54:39.97 the documentary redeem? Because I think about redeemed, right? 00:54:39.97\00:54:42.91 He was reading the book so to speak. Yeah, it and he he tells 00:54:42.91\00:54:47.42 his story as we try to illustrate here in the 00:54:47.42\00:54:50.12 documentary 00:54:50.12\00:54:51.29 from the point of View honoring the God who did not his own 00:54:51.29\00:54:56.12 commercial genius or his own in wise investing or the good 00:54:56.12\00:55:00.46 partnerships he formed. Actually, he has a multi volume 00:55:00.46\00:55:04.10 autobiography that I've worked through most of and thus that 00:55:04.10\00:55:08.30 the commercial setbacks he's experienced are have been at 00:55:08.30\00:55:11.47 times nearly as painful as the personal ones. It's not been 00:55:11.47\00:55:15.01 some climbing lying the whole time. And yet God has put more 00:55:15.01\00:55:19.78 success in his hands as he's committed himself to giving 00:55:19.78\00:55:23.28 back to his his immediate community and to the business 00:55:23.28\00:55:27.79 park that he's developed in the center of Prague, which is the 00:55:27.79\00:55:31.56 most remarkable center of influence we use that term 00:55:31.56\00:55:35.63 often these days I have ever seen it is on a scale. 00:55:35.63\00:55:40.04 We know the rest of us could barely dream, but now we're 00:55:40.04\00:55:43.37 getting ready to go the second hour. 00:55:43.37\00:55:44.71 >> We are indeed. Talk to us just a moment about the center 00:55:44.71\00:55:47.38 of influence. You know, we're going to see that in the next 00:55:47.38\00:55:50.18 hour. But let's tease to that just a moment. What is the 00:55:50.18\00:55:53.31 center of influence that he's developing and building? 00:55:53.31\00:55:56.42 >> Whoever wants to beginning on something like right now, 00:55:56.42\00:55:59.72 I guess it would be. 25 years ago, he began investing in 00:55:59.72\00:56:03.76 building a business park in what was a very sort of run 00:56:03.76\00:56:08.30 down dilapidated portion of the city. He recognized that this 00:56:08.30\00:56:12.80 was a strategically a wise spot that commercial traffic will 00:56:12.80\00:56:16.87 begin moving this way. And he began building a portions of a 00:56:16.87\00:56:21.28 business park that today employees in the various 00:56:21.28\00:56:25.45 businesses, 14,000 people in its final phase. It will employ 00:56:25.45\00:56:30.19 20,000 people who work in the buildings there. 00:56:30.19\00:56:34.06 It's a massive complex of buildings and many of the 00:56:34.06\00:56:38.49 largest corporations in Europe and the world rent spaces in 00:56:38.49\00:56:43.10 his buildings because for the these are namesake play 00:56:43.10\00:56:47.94 companies. Microsoft and I think Google is there. If I'm 00:56:47.94\00:56:52.94 not mistaken, rose and IBM, IBM, IBM was there in the and 00:56:52.94\00:56:56.18 major banking institutions, insurance companies they want 00:56:56.18\00:56:59.71 to be in this place because it is a kind of environment where 00:56:59.71\00:57:04.55 people find homeless, the confined tranquility, that 00:57:04.55\00:57:07.79 confined improvements for life all because one man has a 00:57:07.79\00:57:10.93 vision of making life different. 00:57:10.93\00:57:12.79 >> It's amazing. We have a full second hour coming up. I was 00:57:12.79\00:57:16.30 just thinking as you're talking about him of Luke for you know, 00:57:16.30\00:57:19.33 when Jesus stood up in Nazareth with that Messianic mission, 00:57:19.33\00:57:22.67 that is what we're doing now. He is lifting up the 00:57:22.67\00:57:25.51 downtrodden. He is living out the gospel. He's helping to 00:57:25.51\00:57:29.84 break those bands and to set the oppressed free, not through 00:57:29.84\00:57:32.88 him, but the Lord Jesus working in and through him. This is a 00:57:32.88\00:57:37.29 man whose life has been transformed by the Gospel. 00:57:37.29\00:57:40.66 Stay with us. We have the 2nd half coming up just after that. 00:57:40.66\00:57:44.46 [MUSIC] 00:57:44.46\00:57:49.43 [MUSIC] 00:57:49.43\00:57:54.44 [MUSIC] 00:57:54.44\00:58:09.52
