We're talking about creative ways to 00:02:09.46\00:02:14.40 reach around the world. Some people are in areas where the name of Jesus Christ hardly 00:02:14.40\00:02:21.10 known. They're all this watch affected by the Post Christian era, very secular mindset. How 00:02:21.10\00:02:26.17 do we reach people that have that challenge? And then urban centers that are being packed 00:02:26.17\00:02:31.78 the day by day. The challenge of technology and the things that are coming at us. But 00:02:31.78\00:02:34.65 tonight we're going to talk about that and then the dive right into the program with 00:02:34.65\00:02:38.15 our guests know music tonight. Well, tonight, we're 00:05:14.98\00:05:17.78 talking about. A number of things will start with a global 00:05:17.78\00:05:23.89 mission. Mission refocus cannot do that to you. Carrie, tell us what is that? You know, this 00:05:23.89\00:05:29.22 >> times when we need to look where we're at and we would not and given stretches down 00:05:29.22\00:05:33.83 the various times in its history back when it first started in 00:05:33.83\00:05:39.07 North America, it sold. Its mission was on the North. America had no concept of 00:05:39.07\00:05:43.37 reaching well, the world, they said, look at all these immigrants coming into America, 00:05:43.37\00:05:45.81 we can reach them. We can fulfill the great commission so they need emission, refocus. 00:05:45.81\00:05:51.11 Okay. Then in the 1980's leaders came together. They look at the world map. They saw this place 00:05:51.11\00:05:55.85 is with the church is strong. Other parts of the world that doesn't even exist. Mike, you 00:05:55.85\00:06:01.82 a part of this process went and they came together, prayed together. And said we need to 00:06:01.82\00:06:06.73 refocus. We need to not just aim for of the Christian denominations. We need to. 00:06:06.73\00:06:13.74 good news with people from other religions, for people, groups from other world views. 00:06:13.74\00:06:16.67 And so we started thinking in terms of people, groups all over the world to stop new 00:06:16.67\00:06:22.31 groups believe and now 30 something years since going mission began. It's time for 00:06:22.31\00:06:25.88 us to gain. are we putting resources where we putting our money out? Personnel? And so 00:06:25.88\00:06:33.72 to not going to be talking about some of those areas, 10, 40 window of an areas and the 00:06:33.72\00:06:38.16 secular growing west of POWs, Christianity. >> by one, 00:06:38.16\00:06:42.33 anything to the well, just, you know, like a few years ago, we did did an analysis on the 00:06:42.33\00:06:48.64 city's. There were 1 million or more well and it just seems like I don't know. 5 years went by 00:06:48.64\00:06:54.08 and that number has gone up by a 3rd. and it's what, 500 and 80 some cities now that are more 00:06:54.08\00:07:03.42 than a million. Of course, some of those are 25 Million. Wow. And that's probably the biggest 00:07:03.42\00:07:06.76 change that we've seen. And of course, when you stop to analyze where Adventist are 00:07:06.76\00:07:11.69 and where they are, not. At area. We are weak. So new mission field it. But there's 00:07:11.69\00:07:19.73 so many effects in the urban centers that, you know, we went from we were raised in 00:07:19.73\00:07:23.54 New York. My wife is from England. But >> whenever 00:07:23.54\00:07:26.07 whenever we go to a large city, we just pause and say how I we're going to reach these 00:07:26.07\00:07:32.81 people. >> And you look your city or some of those cities not say how do we reach this many 00:07:32.81\00:07:36.52 people There are some cities in the world that really there no ad than us. Well, the 00:07:36.52\00:07:42.86 subsidies of 3 to 5 million people know that no at >> Wow. Wow. really that's a 00:07:42.86\00:07:47.66 challenge. You know what? As we talk about mission refocus, I want to just run this video 00:07:47.66\00:07:51.63 right now. are our viewing audience. An overview mission refocused and why it's 00:07:51.63\00:07:57.37 necessary as we go down to trajectory of time to just say, let's look at this again. 00:07:57.37\00:08:01.14 Here's the video. ¤ ¤ 00:08:01.14\00:08:17.29 >> The 7th Day Adventist Commission flame was lit more than 150 years ago. But you still see that there's billion more people on 00:11:55.34\00:11:59.61 planet and they were. >> In 1990, vote of the mission started. Well, so. We 00:11:59.61\00:12:04.49 just have to humble ourselves before God and say you have a plan. We want to participate 00:12:04.49\00:12:08.49 with you use invited We need to say I will gun. We will do it. And that that initiative 00:12:08.49\00:12:15.30 Mike. >> Yeah, no, I I couldn't more. You know, we have a lot 00:12:15.30\00:12:21.44 more capacity today to reach people. be Example of we we all types of media internet 00:12:21.44\00:12:31.98 and we can talk about those things. But if we really want to be serious. About the 00:12:31.98\00:12:39.49 counsel given by Ellen White. It is also extremely important that each 7th Day Adventist 00:12:39.49\00:12:46.93 member realize that their involvement is essential. That's 00:12:46.93\00:12:51.43 right. Yes, every member involvement am I? >> That's right, Rick, you had anything to 00:12:51.43\00:12:57.34 that? Maybe had a question. >> know. Why did they start this global mission? Why was 00:12:57.34\00:13:01.51 it started? Well, I see why. But haha. >> Well, I I I you know, 00:13:01.51\00:13:06.45 obviously was just the scenario that Gary painted, we looked at the world and we had 00:13:06.45\00:13:12.75 asked a question. where do we still face the challenge of placing a lighthouse? you know 00:13:12.75\00:13:24.07 that the text says in Matthew. >> That she says isn't coming. Until the cost that gospel 00:13:24.07\00:13:32.24 goes to every nation can't jump, you know. And so when you look at that, every nation 00:13:32.24\00:13:36.61 cantor tongue in people, that's pretty specific. Well day, I think they just looked 00:13:36.61\00:13:40.22 at it and there was a a man who deserves a lot of the credit. Charles Taylor doctor 00:13:40.22\00:13:48.59 Charles Taylor, and he did a lot of the original research. you year remember him? I do 00:13:48.59\00:13:54.56 well. he just used to say we we have gone too many places and we just plow into these 00:13:54.56\00:14:03.94 different cultures and world religions. And we try to use the same methods at that. We 00:14:03.94\00:14:11.35 use largely in North America and he said, why don't we go over there? Find out what the 00:14:11.35\00:14:15.95 combination on the lock us. Well, I for we go over the area and and I I just think he 00:14:15.95\00:14:20.96 saying that song and little by little by little Gary. I think it is. It is caught on. That's 00:14:20.96\00:14:27.46 why we run those studies centers. That's right. >> And 00:14:27.46\00:14:31.90 before goodwill mission, we tend to defeat mine in terms of geography and on into country or 00:14:31.90\00:14:37.71 region. But but the mission helped stop thinking more in terms of people, groups, which 00:14:37.71\00:14:41.98 is a very important missing logical concept because you can have a church in a country for 00:14:41.98\00:14:48.78 100 years and it's still in the region. 2% of the population because it's ignoring the 00:14:48.78\00:14:52.32 majority people group. That's so true because you you look at these and as you talk about 00:14:52.32\00:14:57.53 that, the exponential growth. And nowadays, we can't go to one city and say, well, 00:14:57.53\00:15:02.96 everyone in that city is from the same culture. Exactly. >> Like an America where a 00:15:02.96\00:15:07.20 melting pot of gold so alike that expression news, find out the combination to the lock in 00:15:07.20\00:15:12.84 because we're answering questions maybe not being asked 00:15:12.84\00:15:17.01 And that makes a difference in the co 2 emissions, OK? Yes, I think part of the mission 00:15:17.01\00:15:20.12 refocused who is looking at and I we've all grown up thinking this is where the mission field 00:15:20.12\00:15:26.92 Part of this mission. Refocuses. >> As you know, where is it today and has that changed? 00:15:26.92\00:15:34.93 You know, is it places are as people? >> Yeah, I always like 00:15:34.93\00:15:39.47 to to a a think of global mission. There's always good news to report. But there's also 00:15:39.47\00:15:46.17 concern to report. >> We it will give examples today of taking 00:15:46.17\00:15:55.18 this message to too many places in the world. >> But there are 00:15:55.18\00:16:00.76 multiple. >> Times that number of places that we haven't been hit. That shows you how many 00:16:00.76\00:16:04.93 countries we have been well tuned in how many probably around 2.40, yes, 8 or something 00:16:04.93\00:16:12.17 like that. Countries now is the How many countries are we in? Well, probably a presence. Some 00:16:12.17\00:16:19.51 type of the president's right to tonight. I think, yeah, probably something like that 00:16:19.51\00:16:21.48 where we're still about. A 17 to 20 off. It depends. It depends 00:16:21.48\00:16:28.42 on what they the United Nations counts. political Hey, we're talking He that's another thing. 00:16:28.42\00:16:34.89 And if we look at the list, I think about 21 to 24. But they do countries and areas that 00:16:34.89\00:16:40.06 her from the territories. >> That's why was interesting at the last General Conference 00:16:40.06\00:16:43.80 session. It was so sobering at the very end when they had all the flags on the stage and 00:16:43.80\00:16:48.30 people said no, why did they come up last and is that these are the places that we still 00:16:48.30\00:16:53.14 have not entered and some people misunderstood and reacted to 00:16:53.14\00:16:58.81 that is why don't they have a flag from the Vatican? There was that there are people, as Paul 00:16:58.81\00:17:01.92 said, create the Saints in Rome. You know, there are people all over the world that need to 00:17:01.92\00:17:05.85 know Christ. was interesting. We are in Rome on we at church. Do we have? yes, we do 00:17:05.85\00:17:15.06 to OK, not invented in city It's not OK. >> That's how spot the 00:17:15.06\00:17:21.20 long necks. But what what who wants to tell us what all the long Rick kicks b***. Haha. 00:17:21.20\00:17:28.14 >> Well, this is a tribal group and this is classic example of 00:17:28.14\00:17:32.81 when you look at where people think the mission field is it is there. But you're talking fairly 00:17:32.81\00:17:38.49 small groups of When you look at some of these people or groups that are millions in or some 00:17:38.49\00:17:44.43 of these people curse in certain countries that are millions that 00:17:44.43\00:17:48.83 are still under aged. But along this is what we all think of us as the classic mission 00:17:48.83\00:17:53.94 >> Where in the world is along that located. They're in the border of of Thailand and 00:17:53.94\00:18:01.14 Burma. Myanmar. Well, that's because today we see that and Africa along that. So I think 00:18:01.14\00:18:06.88 that people can agree this Okay. That's interesting. We would be with NBA and part of 00:18:06.88\00:18:10.72 the place that you mentioned. What specific, what makes them a challenge to reach our? A 00:37:19.07\00:37:25.87 group of believe is here. This is how we're going to do it. They put a plan together. Then 00:37:25.87\00:37:31.48 it's approved by the various levels of the church is not something he's just approved of 00:37:31.48\00:37:35.18 the general conference and then. The funding for that project is should. But the general 00:37:35.18\00:37:41.22 conference by the division, the region of the world that takes of aside from that area 00:37:41.22\00:37:46.76 and then the union and the conference. So everyone is invested in that sense not to 00:37:46.76\00:37:50.90 to General conference project, something we're all invested in together. So it starts with 00:37:50.90\00:37:56.04 the individual So just going to be for you. Started. Mike always used to say he's never 00:37:56.04\00:38:01.14 received a complaint about a global mission project. And I haven't because it's not a 00:38:01.14\00:38:08.12 projects. I like that. They made the most of I was just going to save the reality is 00:38:08.12\00:38:11.69 of the money goes to the General conference. But the money comes 00:38:11.69\00:38:17.49 from the people who want to see mission happen. >> And the 10 00:38:17.49\00:38:22.06 for the window who want to see Comission pioneers going time raise people, groups and 00:38:22.06\00:38:24.80 starting group. Some flavors. And those are the faithful people who make all of this 00:38:24.80\00:38:29.14 happened. every cent comes from church members. That's what stuff I we did in our churches 00:38:29.14\00:38:37.18 showed it starts with you right into the blessing. Begins here in blessing. Expands out with a 00:38:37.18\00:38:39.85 pebble in the pond. >> Yeah. But every ripple represents another 00:38:39.85\00:38:44.32 level of the church. The conference, the Union to division and then the global 00:38:44.32\00:38:47.89 work. But it's appreciative to hear that the plans. I mean, how do we plan for people that we 00:38:47.89\00:38:54.66 don't know, right? People plans the world change? Yes, and that was in a very I would say God 00:38:54.66\00:38:59.70 lead incentive. it. >> You know, it's a it's program that. People 00:38:59.70\00:39:06.71 cannot take credit for caught because when you go to some of these places, it is a huge 00:39:06.71\00:39:16.52 challenge. And you put a global mission pioneer out there and you think let's see 00:39:16.52\00:39:21.02 now he didn't. He doesn't have a PhD from Anders. he, you know, and start down the list 00:39:21.02\00:39:25.33 of all the think she's not qualified to. Do you blink your eyes and they they have a 00:39:25.33\00:39:30.33 church out there. Look at that and not by my if you don't but it's not not his skill, not my 00:39:30.33\00:39:36.94 skill, but the Holy Spirit prepares territory and I've seen it where it will just 00:39:36.94\00:39:43.24 take the first step. Don't worry about it and it will happen like 00:39:43.24\00:39:50.45 the what do you have in your hand? You know, the little fish, the loaves and fishes, God 00:39:50.45\00:39:54.96 multiplies those blessings. >> But now there are always challenges. We know that this 00:39:54.96\00:39:58.23 work is not going forward without hindrance cross. There's a story Satan couldn't 00:39:58.23\00:40:03.23 touch her. Talk about how that challenges confronted and how was overcome. It was a speech 00:40:03.23\00:40:09.37 Rick. >> As of this is another story about a global mission 00:40:09.37\00:40:14.84 pioneer and her experiences and some of the hardships of said overcome them. The devil tried 00:40:14.84\00:40:19.61 it to stop the work, how God prevailed in man. Look at this 00:40:19.61\00:40:26.35 story. >> When Sarah's husband left her for years ago, she knew she had to find a way to 00:40:26.35\00:40:30.23 support herself. But she didn't know where to look for a chop. 00:40:30.23\00:40:35.83 She prayed for direction and got him pressed her to share his word with the people living 00:40:35.83\00:40:40.54 around her. Sarah began visiting her neighbors and their homes. >> But I prayed for the sick 00:40:40.54\00:40:45.74 and they got well, I prayed for those evil spirits and the spirit one away. I prayed for 00:40:45.74\00:40:52.31 those who couldn't have children and they were able to start a 00:40:52.31\00:40:57.09 family. >> Some people were happy when Sarah visit them. But others didn't like it. One day, 00:40:57.09\00:41:02.82 Sarah visited a family who was worshipping an idol. They demanded that she worship with 00:41:02.82\00:41:07.03 them, but she refused. One young woman angrily plunged Sarah's 00:41:07.03\00:41:13.00 hand into a pot of boiling oil. >> Number I prayed and when I removed my hand from the oil, 00:41:13.00\00:41:19.41 it wasn't burned at all. >> The next day, the young woman's father called Sarah to 00:41:19.41\00:41:24.95 apologize. He asked her to pray for his family. Sarah was happy to uplift this family 00:41:24.95\00:41:30.59 impressed. >> Now they're changed. They have accepted God 00:41:30.59\00:41:35.92 and they worship with us. >> 5 families witnessed Sarah escape serious injury that 00:41:35.92\00:41:41.40 day. They were amazed and they, too, have asked her to pray for them. With the local 00:41:41.40\00:41:48.17 Adventist pastor learned about Sarahs miraculous experience. He told her you need to work 00:41:48.17\00:41:52.01 for God. He offered her position as a global mission pioneer and 00:41:52.01\00:41:57.65 Sarah eagerly accepted it. 4 years later, she still visits families in her community. She 00:41:57.65\00:42:06.05 prays with them and shares literature about Jesus. On she invites a group of women to 00:42:06.05\00:42:10.99 worship in her home. Every Wednesday she hosts a Bible study. There are many widows and 00:42:10.99\00:42:18.33 orphans in her city. And Sarah does all she can to meet their spiritual and physical needs 00:42:18.33\00:42:24.17 shop and buys the women saris or food for their families. >> As a pioneer, it's not only 00:42:24.17\00:42:28.94 about prayer, we're just going to their houses. If I have extra clothes, I want to close 00:42:28.94\00:42:35.25 them. If they need food, I will feed them. It's my duty. >> Sarah is no longer sad that 00:42:35.25\00:42:41.06 her husband abandoned her. After he left. God has given me more strength so that I can 00:42:41.06\00:42:48.86 preach the gospel and tell people that he coming soon. So he is taking care of me. 00:42:48.86\00:42:55.47 >> Sarah asks you to pray for the people of her city. >> I want them to be ready for 00:42:55.47\00:43:00.21 the second coming. I also want to appeal to everyone to be an example to others and served 00:43:00.21\00:43:07.18 them wholeheartedly. >> Sarah has found her greatest joy in 00:43:07.18\00:43:12.69 being a global mission. Pioneer. >> I'm happy and I'm willing to serve God as long as I'm 00:43:12.69\00:43:18.89 alive. Please pray for Sarah. >> And all our global mission, pioneers around the world 00:43:18.89\00:43:27.04 airing the good news of Jesus. Love and soon return. >> You to 00:43:27.04\00:43:35.38 follow. This is a modern Hebrews and the fiery furnace that some hot So that's not something that 00:43:35.38\00:43:43.02 not not burned. That's amazing how God. And then the result of that, she became a global So 00:43:43.02\00:43:50.56 the obstacles of oh, boy, there's so much to cover. What about is it tow killed 00:43:50.56\00:43:57.27 mission? A new mission? >> Yeah. Usual. A few years ago we looked 00:43:57.27\00:44:05.54 at. Again much of the world map and we saw areas of the both of big challenge, one of the 00:44:05.54\00:44:09.44 challenges, Japan with the church to be candid. >> Is It's 00:44:09.44\00:44:15.55 facing big challenges. And so. A concerted was put together with 00:44:15.55\00:44:22.89 a plan to send missionaries to have global mission, pioneers to start centers of influence, too. 00:44:22.89\00:44:24.89 Make. I Mission unusual initiative for Tokyo to start a church planting initiative. 00:44:24.89\00:44:33.37 that's next videos of them. >> What's risk for some major 00:44:33.37\00:44:39.37 religion in Japan? >> Major religion is not just up Many places that make your religion 00:44:39.37\00:44:53.29 is pen is very fast pace. People let is back on his boot is yes. should tell to shut the mom, but 00:44:53.29\00:44:59.36 I do more and more becoming secular, especially large well, it's not somebody recently said 00:44:59.36\00:45:05.30 I want to go to Japan, but they didn't say to go to be a mission. They know to go play 00:45:05.30\00:45:07.77 video games. Yeah. So let's see what the Lord is doing in this unusual place. Very calm 00:45:07.77\00:45:14.88 and very populous city called Tokyo K. ¤ 00:45:14.88\00:45:21.12 Cities throughout Northern Asia like Seoul, Taipei, Tokyo, and 00:45:21.12\00:45:27.52 Mamba tar are home to millions of people who have not heard the gospel message. >> Reaching 00:45:27.52\00:45:33.26 these vast cities seems daunting and the work insensitive territories is even more 00:45:33.26\00:45:37.13 difficult to measure. Not even one percent of the 230 million people in the northern Asia 00:45:37.13\00:45:41.87 Pacific region are 7th day Adventists. Despite the challenges had been a spray for 00:45:41.87\00:45:47.71 opportunities to share the life of Jesus and his territory. ¤ 00:45:47.71\00:45:53.72 The Adventist Church in Japan invited the General conference and the Northern Asia Pacific 00:45:53.72\00:45:58.92 Division to partner with them to create mission unusual. A massive church planting and 00:45:58.92\00:46:04.99 disciple making movement. Since Tokyo is the world's largest city. This movement is 00:46:04.99\00:46:10.63 an ambitious effort working closely with local Japanese church leaders, a team of 00:46:10.63\00:46:16.64 church planting missionaries is on the ground, learning the language and deciding how best 00:46:16.64\00:46:21.51 to share Jesus with the Japanese. The 3 missionary couple spent hours each day 00:46:21.51\00:46:27.88 preparing themselves for the work with in central Tokyo. It's not just population size 00:46:27.88\00:46:32.69 that makes outreach heart. There are many barriers to religion 00:46:32.69\00:46:38.09 too. The Japanese society is largely secular. And many people it here to eastern philosophy. 00:46:38.09\00:46:44.67 Another challenge is overcoming the isolation of the older generation witching out to 00:46:44.67\00:46:49.04 them and showing them compassion can be tricky. Missionaries like 00:46:49.04\00:46:54.71 Yuri and Lice have been creating connections with their neighbors. Simple tasks like 00:46:54.71\00:47:00.78 shopping, visiting the local park and practicing their growing Japanese vocabulary 00:47:00.78\00:47:03.22 with strangers on the street are all opportunities to connect the 00:47:03.22\00:47:09.12 missionary team gathers each Sabbath to pray, study cots, word, eat laugh, shared 00:47:09.12\00:47:15.60 challenges and seek the Holy Spirit together. is a great example of a local church member 00:47:15.60\00:47:21.90 who has taken the spirit of Mission unusual to heart. She uses her home is a place of 00:47:21.90\00:47:26.57 ministry, especially for parents and kids. Some have been introduced to the Bible for 00:47:26.57\00:47:30.91 the first time in her living room. Others have even requested 00:47:30.91\00:47:35.15 prayer for their families. Amazing things are happening in Tokyo with time. The ministry 00:47:35.15\00:47:41.69 team will grow as plans are made to bring in global mission. Pioneers, urban centers of 00:47:41.69\00:47:46.39 influence, volunteers and 10 makers in the future. The challenge of ministering to the 00:47:46.39\00:47:52.63 world's largest city can sometimes seem like too much but God's power can overcome all 00:47:52.63\00:47:55.87 barriers. We ask that you continue to pray for the mission. Unusual church 00:47:55.87\00:48:01.58 planting and disciple making movement. pray that the advantage here. We'll continue 00:48:01.58\00:48:06.38 to develop new creative ways to build connections with those around them. Thank you 00:48:06.38\00:48:10.19 for supporting the mission, offering, which fuels work like 00:48:10.19\00:48:18.73 this. >> Loud chip pan Japan, I think of technology I think of all the things that are 00:48:18.73\00:48:24.33 eventually coming to American some kind of electronic packet member made in Japan made 00:48:24.33\00:48:27.20 Japan. talk to that. What one percent? Why is the challenge so 00:48:27.20\00:48:38.21 great? >> The one percent was referring to that whole Northern 00:48:38.21\00:48:43.79 region. Number of reasons, one is they just have a totally different world view will views 00:48:43.79\00:48:48.79 to what we here in North America. And so the traditional ways that we approach. Mission. 00:48:48.79\00:48:57.27 When we present that to those, is coming from a different perspective. It's meaningless. 00:48:57.27\00:49:02.14 Well, it doesn't connect concert. That's why cross method 00:49:02.14\00:49:07.31 of ministries. So important that we need to take time to listen. We need to to make friends. We 00:49:07.31\00:49:11.91 need to take time to understand before we speak. But because of those challenges, the cultural 00:49:11.91\00:49:19.25 challenges, language, challenges, historical challenges. For to to take 00:49:19.25\00:49:25.49 seed to it, to grow its just it's just people that I think a lot of it too, is that Japan 00:49:25.49\00:49:33.23 takes a look at Christianity. >> Obviously they're observing how it is exercised and how it 00:49:33.23\00:49:42.94 expresses itself. Yes, and I think it's a little bit like a You know, he had when asked 00:49:42.94\00:49:49.22 whether he wanted to become a Christian, he was why would mind being one except for the 00:49:49.22\00:49:52.29 way they live? And I think your pan looks they go well for is this a good trade? You 00:49:52.29\00:50:01.63 know? But when you stop, you know, who was homer to Carton presentation one time he was 00:50:01.63\00:50:09.37 showing, you know, like the challenge he see go down to Papa New Guinea and you have 00:50:09.37\00:50:15.14 one person walk past. You every second. You only have to let 6 seconds go by and one of 00:50:15.14\00:50:21.78 them will be an Adventist. Wow. Wow. I believe that at that time 00:50:21.78\00:50:27.59 when he did the research, they were something like if you're in Japan, Tokyo and they walked by 00:50:27.59\00:50:34.46 one every second. It will be 3 and a half years or something before you would have had been 00:50:34.46\00:50:38.07 us walk by. That is Now we have to refer to Rick Little because it put because of the 00:50:38.07\00:50:45.67 cultural maybe. >> Could you talk in depth? And there's might 00:50:45.67\00:50:52.95 probably knows more than Jen? Yes. There is in Canada. 3rd generation cancer born in 00:50:52.95\00:51:03.32 Canada as well. But it was interesting going to Japan, you 00:51:03.32\00:51:05.09 know, and >> and learning more about what some of the challenges are. And I think 00:51:05.09\00:51:10.17 culturally Japanese do not criticize other people necessarily. You don't. Because 00:51:10.17\00:51:17.37 it's a shame in on the culture. So when we do and we want to talk about our religion, we need 00:51:17.37\00:51:24.38 to give great examples, not criticize necessarily. Theirs is a start because it's not going 00:51:24.38\00:51:28.82 to open that door for you, right? We want to be complimentary >> I like what 00:51:28.82\00:51:36.16 you're talking about, Condi. That was a very interesting story. Why he chose not to 00:51:36.16\00:51:38.19 Christian. They want to see that religion in action. They want to see Christianity in action like 00:51:38.19\00:51:43.33 you said, following cross month alone. And then I think it's finding common areas that 00:51:43.33\00:51:49.14 you can relate on like family. >> Her health or things like that. One of the things 00:51:49.14\00:51:55.51 mentioned there is is the increasing loneliness of the And so, you know, we all as 00:51:55.51\00:52:00.68 people have times and really lonely, if we can minister to them and help them through 00:52:00.68\00:52:04.99 those times. That's the connection. That right makes it 00:52:04.99\00:52:09.96 different. >> Let's talk about church in a year. That very that I had not heard a year. 00:52:09.96\00:52:18.20 >> One of the challenges when you're going into new areas and starting new groups of 00:52:18.20\00:52:23.20 believers is where you worship and very often that it's in the home many times. You can't 00:52:23.20\00:52:26.44 just. Find a ready Bill. Kristen style of church. So you're going 00:52:26.44\00:52:34.42 to Mongolia. They found an interesting solution as to where to worship, OK, let's look at 00:52:34.42\00:52:38.12 that. But no and took them along. That soon became a 00:53:57.43\00:54:04.04 problem because the car could only fit so many children. The weekly services 00:54:09.84\00:54:14.78 were well attended with parents often accompanying their children. This led to a growing 00:54:14.78\00:54:18.29 Pathfinder clock. And it 00:55:15.68\00:55:22.75 looks warm. Yeah, looks it looks cozy. Looks comfortable. >> You know, cement They said 00:55:22.75\00:55:27.22 that if it withstands many a strong, I mean. >> What's the 00:55:27.22\00:55:32.76 general have you been in the year before? Many times? >> He has won at But this is 00:55:32.76\00:55:41.70 so interesting. We talk about the work of refocusing. >> That's just highlight. Look 00:55:41.70\00:55:46.27 at what we talked about the first out because we have another hour to go with a lot 00:55:46.27\00:55:50.41 more information videos. But let's just highlight that again. The need to refocus our 00:55:50.41\00:55:54.05 mission for those who may have just joined us. Yeah. What's the need to refocus on mission 00:55:54.05\00:55:58.45 and why do we see that is an imperative? It's just pure social mudgee that any 00:55:58.45\00:56:05.53 organization, Lou can move into maintenance mode. >> Where you 00:56:05.53\00:56:09.50 maintain what you already have and you tend to stop them looking a little bit Inwood 00:56:09.50\00:56:13.97 looking. It can happen to the local church. You can happen with the denominations are from 00:56:13.97\00:56:17.81 time to time. We need to get on on these. We need to come together. We need to play 00:56:17.81\00:56:20.61 together. We need to plan to give them. You need to say what around maybe priorities. we 00:56:20.61\00:56:26.88 putting our resources toward those priorities. So my kids up the strategic planning group for 00:56:26.88\00:56:34.49 the 7th Adventist Church, which is I will go and it actually has kpi key performance indicators 00:56:34.49\00:56:37.49 just so we can keep. We still on track. And so with the mission we still on we still focused 00:56:37.49\00:56:45.20 on reaching a new age. so that's why we're thinking in terms of 00:56:45.20\00:56:52.54 secular 10. 41, though, those are a big mission. We need to refocus to make sure that with. 00:56:52.54\00:56:57.45 With focused on reaching those people. >> 30 seconds before we 00:56:57.45\00:57:01.78 end the hour, Mike, just tell us about that 10. 41 to one more time. Well, the 10, 40 window. 00:57:01.78\00:57:07.59 Dominated by world religions and cultures. That traditionally 7th 00:57:07.59\00:57:13.66 Day Adventist difficulty are leading to an establishing presence or and it's 10 00:57:13.66\00:57:21.77 degrees north of the equator. 40 degrees north and it stretches 00:57:21.77\00:57:25.84 from the Strait of Gibraltar, Spain and Morocco all the way to the eastern Shore, Japan, how 00:57:25.84\00:57:32.15 well and in that window lives more than 60% of the world. But I find out what that means in 00:57:32.15\00:57:37.22 just a moment. Don't go. We're going to talk about how to reach the post Christian all our 00:57:37.22\00:57:41.02 generation ministry in the urban centers. Don't go away. We'll be 00:57:41.02\00:57:45.83 right back. ¤ ¤ 00:57:45.83\00:58:05.88
