00:01 As you're well aware,
00:03 we're living in unprecedented times. 00:05 Join us now for Today special program. 00:12 I want to spend my life 00:18 Mending broken people 00:23 I want to spend my life 00:29 Removing pain 00:34 Lord, let my words 00:39 Heal a heart that hurts 00:44 I want to spend my life 00:50 Mending broken people 00:55 I want to spend my life 01:00 Mending broken people 01:15 Hello and welcome to 3ABN Live. 01:17 We're so glad that you've joined us this evening. 01:18 Why? 01:20 Well, because you are family and it's just so great to be 01:21 in your living room. 01:23 Or maybe you're driving in your car 01:24 and listening to us on the radio, 01:26 but we look forward to spending these two hours 01:28 with you each Thursday evening. 01:30 And tonight's program is entitled... 01:32 Is titled what can I do for you, Lord? 01:35 Love the title. 01:36 We're going to be giving some updates 01:37 on a couple of 3ABN projects. 01:39 I don't know if you noticed on the wide shot, 01:41 you might have been looking for Art and Pat Humphrey. 01:44 And, yes, they are still on tonight's Live program. 01:46 They'll be joining us in just a few moments. 01:48 Jill and I are on for just a few minutes 01:50 and then we'll be, I think, kind of transitioning now. 01:52 Is that right? 01:53 And Mr. Danny and Dr. Yvonne 01:55 will be continuing the hosting aspect 01:56 with Art and Pat Humphrey. 01:58 But what a great time to be alive, right? 02:00 In this time in earth's history. 02:02 I mean, what a privilege we have. 02:03 You think about everything 02:05 that's going on in the world, you know. 02:06 It seems like COVID-19 just won't leave, 02:08 and you hear about the fires and floods 02:10 and all kinds of disasters. 02:12 I was just on a trip to Miami, Florida, 02:15 and there's so many people worried, 02:17 just like the general public, 02:18 about what's going on in the world. 02:20 But, you know, we have something wonderful to share 02:23 and that is the truth from God's Word. 02:25 As Mr. Danny always says, 02:27 "We've read the end of the book," 02:28 which is the end of the Bible. 02:29 And we know that Christ is one that will be delivered 02:31 from this earth. 02:33 But while we're on this earth, we have a privilege. 02:36 I don't want to say an obligation. 02:38 We have a privilege of sharing the love of Jesus, 02:40 and that there's hope, and that there's something better 02:43 to look forward on. 02:44 So I'm looking forward to this evening's program. 02:46 Amen. Me too. 02:47 We love, of course, Art and Pat Humphrey. 02:48 We do. 02:50 We're looking forward to hearing from them 02:51 in just a few minutes. 02:53 But first, we have the privilege of hosting... 02:54 Yes, we do. 02:56 Danny and Dr. Yvonne for a few minutes, 02:58 and talk to us about this incredible project 03:00 we've talked about in the past. 03:02 Focus on Truth and the three booklets 03:04 that the Lord led you to write, 03:06 and we're partnering with our 3ABN family 03:09 evangelistically both with the zip code mailings 03:12 and cases of these books. 03:13 So, tell us about the project? 03:16 Well, Greg, you couldn't have done a better segue 03:19 if you wanted to. 03:20 And because we're talking about truth. 03:22 That's right. 03:23 And, but everybody talking about truth. 03:25 That's right. 03:26 If you turn on television, you turn on CNN, 03:27 they're going to tell you about truth. 03:29 If you're going to turn on Fox, 03:30 they're going to tell you about the truth. 03:32 Yeah, there may be totally opposites 03:33 on the opposite side... 03:35 Turn... 03:36 Go to one church and it says, 03:38 "We have the truth." 03:39 The other one says, "We have the truth." 03:40 Well, I think most of us as Christians know the truth 03:43 is the Lord Jesus Christ. 03:44 I'm the way, the truth. 03:46 And the light. Right? 03:47 But what is truth? 03:49 How do we decide that? 03:50 It's from the Bible. 03:52 My dad used to teach me, 03:53 you have to have a foundation to go from. 03:54 He said, 03:56 "Son, it doesn't make any difference what you think. 03:57 It doesn't..." 03:59 I'm just the way my dad did. 04:00 This certainly doesn't make any difference what you... 04:02 Because I'd say, "Well, dad, I think such and such." 04:04 "Son, it doesn't make any difference what you think." 04:07 And then he would say, 04:08 "Doesn't make any difference what I think, 04:09 it's what's the truth." 04:11 So how do you find truth? 04:13 You have to from a foundation. 04:15 We have the Bible. The Bible's a Word of God. 04:17 But what happened is 04:19 the devil is out to steal, kill, and to destroy 04:21 so he's out to deceive the entire world. 04:24 There's a great controversy going on, 04:26 whether we like it or not, 04:27 or want to be part of it or not. 04:29 So the devil is out doing his job like a roaring lion, 04:32 the Bible says that he's out... 04:34 And that's his whole business. 04:35 But what happens... 04:37 We as Christians, we become more timid. 04:38 Well, we don't want to, you know, argue with people. 04:43 Well, we shouldn't argue, 04:44 but we should be willing to stand up for truth. 04:46 Now how are we going to find the truth? 04:48 From the Word of God. 04:49 So what makes the difference, Yvonne, 04:52 for churches to some say, 04:55 "Well, this is truth. 04:56 This is truth. 04:57 This is truth." 04:59 And so the difference is interpretation, right? 05:01 It's how you interpret it. 05:03 But for instance, we are... 05:06 We know that we're all born with a terminal illness. 05:08 That's true. Yes. 05:09 And that's called death. 05:11 So we're all going to die. 05:12 The Bible says it's appointed once a time 05:13 for every man to die. 05:15 So we're not going to escape that. 05:17 And, you know, only way of escape 05:19 is should the Lord come during our lifetime. 05:22 Other than that... 05:23 So we're going to spend eternity somewhere. 05:25 Are we going to spend eternity in death, asleep? 05:28 As though we never were destroyed at the second coming? 05:31 Or are we going to spend eternity with Jesus? 05:34 So, for me, I would like to know 05:37 who am I going to spend eternity with? 05:38 Absolutely. 05:40 You know, maybe I would rather 05:41 if it's going to be with the devil, 05:42 I'd rather be dead and not know anything about it 05:44 for eternity, right? 05:46 But if God is the God of love 05:48 that we all Christian churches seem to teach, 05:51 then why are... 05:52 Why is the devil using us 05:54 to teach just the opposite? 05:56 So for instance, we wrote several books, 05:58 and they're called Focus on Truth. 06:00 This one's the truth about hellfire. 06:02 So the truth is how can... 06:05 And here's where we have to look to the Word of God. 06:08 How can a church tell... 06:10 And pastors everywhere and evangelical... 06:12 I don't care if it's Catholic Church. 06:13 Many... 06:15 Most churches teach you that 06:17 if you're good, 06:19 you're going to end up in heaven for eternity. 06:20 No more sickness, no more pain, no more sorrow. 06:22 Why? Because God is love. 06:25 Right? That's what's taught. 06:27 But on the other hand, they get up and say... 06:30 I mean, this where you hear the old term. 06:32 We're old enough, they may not be, fire and brimstone. 06:34 Right. 06:36 Remember the old fire and brimstone preacher? 06:37 And you got to pound your fist too. 06:40 Let me tell you something, 06:42 you know, you're going to burn in hell forever. 06:44 Well, wait a minute, 06:45 we have a God of love we've just told... 06:47 But Johnny be good. 06:49 Jesus loves you, He died for you, 06:51 made a plan of salvation for us, 06:53 He's coming back for you very soon 06:55 in the clouds of glory but... 06:57 And then that but is about this big. 06:59 It's great big, right? 07:00 B-U-T. 07:01 But if you're not good, you're going to burn forever 07:06 and ever and ever through all the ceaseless ages of eternity. 07:11 You or maybe your mother, your father, your brother, 07:13 your sister, your husband, wife. 07:15 They're going to be in heaven enjoying all this bliss, 07:17 and you're going to be crying and screaming, 07:20 And I mean, that's exactly opposite teaching. 07:24 So you don't need the world, because see, 07:26 I don't care what an atheist tells me, 07:28 because they don't believe in God. 07:29 So hey, you got no influence on me. 07:31 But when the devil decided I'm going to come in, 07:34 he saw through the dark ages 07:36 he couldn't destroy the Church of God. 07:38 So he decided to come in and sit on the pews beside us. 07:41 He decided to wave little, 07:44 you know, little flags here and there, 07:45 little flags and say, 07:47 "Hey, join my little group. 07:48 Join this little group. 07:49 We're all on the same team. 07:51 We're all Christians. Let's just join that. 07:54 But now we're going to teach you lies about God." 07:56 So now if I find out... 07:58 How can I find out God is a God of love? 08:01 The Bible says... 08:02 And then I have my own pastors. 08:05 We don't have ours, but I'm saying in general 08:07 pastors and people teaching. 08:09 If you're not good, you're going to be tortured. 08:11 So we decided only one way to find truth. 08:14 You go to the Bible, and find out the truth. 08:16 If I'm going to spend eternity with God, 08:19 I want to know that He really is love. 08:21 Because that's what the Bible says. 08:23 So thus the truth about hellfire. 08:26 So in this it says what happens to us 08:28 when we die and is God really love? 08:31 So we find out about the character of God. 08:34 And if He's really God of love, how could He torture us 08:38 for eternity without any chance of repentance? 08:41 I want folks to chew on that for just a second. 08:44 What good does it do to have a fire that burns for eternity 08:50 with people being tortured with no chance of repentance? 08:54 Now how can you say that's the God of love? 08:56 I wouldn't do that to a cat or a dog. 08:59 You wouldn't either. Wouldn't do it to any animal. 09:02 I wouldn't do it to a snake. 09:03 And I'm not particularly fond of snakes. 09:05 You wouldn't do that. 09:06 So how can a God of love do that? 09:08 So the truth is in the Bible. 09:10 The weight of the evidence we have to look at. 09:13 And there are scriptures that say, 09:14 "Oh, they burn forever and ever." 09:16 Somebody said, "well, it says..." 09:18 You know, well, 09:19 it also says 09:20 Sodom and Gomorrah burned forever and ever, 09:22 but they're not burning today. 09:23 Right? 09:24 So we have to look at the terms what does forever mean? 09:28 So anyway, without going into all of that, but... 09:31 I'd just like to add that with this, 09:34 so many churches teach about hellfire and the fact 09:39 that people are being tortured day in and day out, 09:43 year in and year out through eternity 09:46 from the beginning of time. 09:48 And so how could a God of love do that? 09:52 But so many people are so entrenched in that belief 09:56 that they get angry if you say that there's no hellfire. 09:59 So It has to be proven from the Word of God. 10:03 And the Word shows us 10:05 that there is no fire burning right now. 10:08 And I love how you developed that whole theme in here. 10:12 The theme of God's love, 10:14 because that's really at the core of this belief. 10:17 Is He a God of love or is He a God of vengeance and torture? 10:23 And so I'm really... 10:25 This book... 10:26 If you have any question about hellfire, 10:29 and there are a lot of Christians who do 10:31 because of tradition. 10:32 If you have any questions about it, 10:34 this is a Bible study. 10:36 This is not a thus saith Danny. 10:38 This is a Bible study on what the Word says about hellfire. 10:42 So it's really... 10:43 It's really a blessing. 10:45 I talked to one evangelical preacher about it. 10:49 And I said, 10:50 "The truth of it is when you really study it, 10:52 there's no such thing as hellfire 10:55 that burns forever and ever." 10:57 And I said, "Why would you teach that?" 10:59 And he said, 11:00 "How else you're going to get people saved?" 11:02 Young people. Use it as a scare tactic. 11:04 Yes, scare them into... 11:06 I said, "You just teach him about the love of God." 11:08 That's right. 11:09 I love your approach on this really because you talk about 11:11 what happens when a person dies. 11:13 And then I like here it says, "Death is like a sleep." 11:15 But then toward the end, I also like this too. 11:17 These little subtitles, I guess we could call them. 11:19 It says, "God's love gives us a choice." 11:23 And I love these booklets because they're not that long. 11:25 May I say they're an easy read but it's a Bible study, 11:27 48 pages beautifully illustrated. 11:30 And I like, you know, when you think hellfire 11:32 you think a lot of times you see like devil pitchfork 11:34 and all this torture going on. 11:37 But the illustrations in here are phenomenal. 11:39 Because in this books... Let's see if I can find this. 11:41 Here, look at this. 11:42 You've got Christ's second coming and at the very end... 11:46 Nathan Greene. 11:47 Nathan Greene. Yep. 11:49 But right at the very end, look at that. 11:50 You know, hellfire... 11:51 You know, a lot of times when people talk hellfire, 11:53 you don't see... 11:54 This showing Christ as love. Right? 11:56 He's extending an invitation to you. 11:59 This is who I am as Christ. 12:01 I'm a God of love. 12:02 I'm not here to torture you. 12:03 So great approach. 12:05 God hates sin, but He loves the sinner. 12:06 He does. Amen. 12:07 And so He's not out here to torture anyone. 12:09 So will sin be done away with that? 12:12 You know, second coming of Christ, 12:16 and then 1000-year millennium. 12:17 When that's all done, will sin be done away with? 12:19 Yes. 12:20 And will there be a fire, that consuming fire? 12:23 But that's the... The key right there, consuming. 12:25 It consumes. 12:26 Exactly. 12:28 So there's not, you know, residual burning 12:30 and being tortured. 12:32 See the other quickly... 12:33 Well, you want to tell people too, 12:34 because we're talking about these books. 12:36 You're going to talk about the other two titles. 12:37 But in just a moment, we're going to tell you 12:39 how you can actually get these. 12:40 And I like tonight's title, what can I do for you, Lord? 12:44 Well, one thing is He wants us to witness and to share 12:46 what we've learned. 12:47 So we're telling you about these wonderful booklets 12:49 and about an exciting evangelistic way 12:51 that you can become involved. 12:52 So we'll tell you about that in just a couple of moments, 12:54 but there's two more titles. 12:55 So we have truth about hellfire. 12:56 I'll make this quicker. 12:58 One of the things for is the truth about salvation. 13:00 Amen. 13:02 And it's so important. 13:03 So now if I decide that I want to spend eternity 13:06 somewhere else than being dead or in what they say, hellfire. 13:11 What's my other options? 13:12 Well, where am I going to go? 13:14 I'm going to go back to the foundation. 13:15 What's the foundation? It's the Bible. 13:18 So now we got to go through the Bible, examine it, 13:21 and see what it says about salvation. 13:22 Now some of you say, 13:24 "Well, that's simple. 13:25 You just come to the Lord and confess your sins." 13:27 Yeah, I realize that. 13:28 But, again, the devil is not happy 13:30 with people teaching the truth. 13:32 So now we're going to discuss once saved, always saved. 13:36 So that's... 13:38 Is there such a thing as once saved, 13:39 always saved? 13:41 You become to... 13:42 Become a Christian when you're nine years old 13:43 now you don't worry about it the rest of your life? 13:46 Is there such a thing as predestination? 13:49 So I've heard people say, 13:50 "Well, it really doesn't make any difference what I do. 13:52 I was predestined, either be saved or lost 13:55 so I just live my life the way I want to." 13:57 So we did a study, we go through the Bible. 14:00 Again, we try to get the weight of evidence. 14:03 And so salvation... 14:05 And this is one of the things, 14:06 you know, that I think we as Seventh-day Adventists, 14:08 and many of us are, 14:10 many of you are not, but those... 14:11 And maybe your church too. 14:13 We could spend more time on salvation because, 14:16 again, it teaches us the character of God. 14:19 And so we... 14:21 If we understand the character of God, 14:23 we understand that God is love. 14:25 So that brought us to once we are saved, 14:28 then what does God expect out of us? 14:30 Well, this one's the truth about focus on, 14:33 but the truth about the Ten Commandments. 14:35 So now are the Ten Commandments, 14:38 have they been done away with? 14:39 Were they nailed to the cross? 14:41 Let's find out. 14:42 What about old covenant Christian, 14:44 new Covenant Christian? 14:46 Which one are you? 14:47 How do people get saved in the Old Testament? 14:50 So we go through the sanctuary. 14:52 So the Lord really blessed, because I'm not a theologian, 14:55 but the Lord blessed Yvonne, blessed... 14:57 She did editing and have worked so hard on this with me. 15:01 But we know there's times when you write a song... 15:04 And I've written songs, 15:06 and I've heard Lanny Wolfe and others. 15:07 You know that God did it. 15:09 It's like He took the pen... 15:12 So anything that's bad in here, 15:14 you don't like, or it's not good, 15:15 I'm not putting that on God. 15:17 But I'm saying in general, these we know... 15:20 These books are based on truth. 15:22 So, to me, we're doing a series. 15:25 There's probably... 15:26 There's going to be 9 or 12. 15:28 We're looking at all the different topics. 15:29 These are the first three. 15:31 So we've had 6 million printed. 15:33 Yeah, it's amazing. 15:34 I think a couple million orders 15:35 all together including the Philippines and... 15:37 Oh, yes. Trinidad and Tobago. 15:39 Papua New Guinea, Trinidad and Tobago. 15:41 Going into prisons. 15:43 We're just starting to work on that, so, yeah. 15:46 I'm so excited. 15:47 So what happened is, because of COVID and everything else... 15:51 So it started in... You know, when we brought the COVID... 15:55 After COVID, what next? 15:57 But we've seen that people couldn't go out door to door 16:00 now a lot more that, 16:01 but there's a number of options. 16:03 But the Lord blessed... 16:04 We... 16:05 Private donations in general, 16:08 literally made this book available 16:10 to anybody who wants it 16:12 and has made it so easy. 16:14 You don't even have to go door to door 16:16 if you don't want to. 16:17 So that's where we should turn it over to Greg and Jill, 16:21 because last time Yvonne and me were on a program by ourself 16:25 and we were trying to explain that part of it, 16:28 we were looking each other. 16:29 And like we say, it was a deer in headlights. 16:32 It was like, Yvonne, now we... I know. 16:35 I'm not sure how we are... I said I need Jill here. 16:40 She just explained it so beautifully. 16:41 You both did well. You did great. 16:44 So thankfully, you're here so you can tell folks how... 16:48 And how they come and they are shipped in... 16:49 This envelope. 16:51 Yeah, okay. 16:52 So we have two options for you tonight, 16:54 and you can call us or you can order online. 16:57 So I want to discuss the two options. 16:59 The first is a zip code mailing. 17:01 This is where you partner with the ministry of 3ABN. 17:04 In order to do this, you need to call us. 17:06 So call us right now at (618) 627-4651. 17:12 That number again is (618) 627-4651. 17:17 And all you have to say is, yes, 17:18 I want to sponsor a zip code in my area. 17:21 It can be your local town, or maybe a neighboring town, 17:24 or whatever you would like. 17:27 And we can tell you right then on the phone, 17:29 there's this many homes and this is what it would be. 17:32 It is 50 cents per home. 17:35 So because some people have stepped forward 17:38 and paid for the printing cost, 17:40 all the cost is 50 cents to ship three of these booklets 17:44 in this envelope... 17:46 I love it. 17:47 To the zip code of your choice. 17:49 So you just multiply the 50 cents 17:51 by however many homes you want to sponsor. 17:54 So call us right now for the zip code mailing, 17:56 it's at (618) 627-4651. 18:01 Now not to muddy the waters, 18:02 but if you want to sponsor zip code mailing 18:05 and you don't care where it goes, 18:06 you just want to give money toward that. 18:08 You can do that online. 18:10 You can go to 3abn.tv. 18:13 There's a banner at the top, just click on that. 18:15 It says, "The Focus on Truth." 18:17 And it will take you there and you can pick... 18:20 I want to give $100, or $1000, 18:21 or whatever you want to give for zip code mailings. 18:24 If you do it that way, 3ABN's going to pick the zip codes. 18:27 We're trying to do some of the large cities 18:29 and get it out that way. 18:31 The other option for you tonight is cases. 18:34 We have these available by the case. 18:37 You can get a case of Focus on Truth about Hellfire. 18:40 There's 250 booklets in a case, 18:44 or you can get Focus on Truth about Salvation, 18:47 or Focus on Truth about the Ten Commandments. 18:49 You can pick one case or 10 cases, 18:52 or one of each of the cases, and it's only $16.50 18:58 for a whole case of 250 booklets. 19:01 So if you've got 250 of this set... 19:03 That's right. 19:05 That's 750 booklets for like $49.50. 19:08 That's right. 19:09 That's 750 books for $150. 19:12 And one thing that people 19:13 have been confused with is that we... 19:15 They think that we're sending the envelope 19:16 along with the cases. 19:18 That we're not doing. 19:19 The envelope... Only zip code. 19:21 And these three booklets is for the zip code mailing. 19:23 It will go together. 19:24 But if we send you a case, 19:26 you're just getting the booklets. 19:27 That's because you are going around 19:29 and you are passing out the booklets 19:32 in your community, in your church. 19:35 You're going door to door, 19:36 you're sharing it 19:37 with your family and with your friends. 19:39 You can call us to order the cases. 19:40 It's just $16.50 a case, or you can order them online... 19:43 Yeah, it's very easy. At 3abn.tv. 19:47 Just go to 3abn.tv and you can pick 19:50 however many cases you want to order, 19:51 and you can order that way. 19:53 It's an incredible evangelistic opportunity 19:57 to get truth into homes. 19:59 I agree. 20:00 You know, and I don't know if you like to be 20:01 put on the spot, okay, but I'm going to anyway. 20:03 Okay? So I have a question for you. 20:05 How much is a US postage stamp? 20:10 You got it, 55 cents. 20:11 You know, I just put one on an envelope 20:13 and put one in my mailbox here just this week. 20:15 There we go. Wow, the production crew's fast. 20:16 US postage stamp 55 cents. 20:19 Now next question, what did Jill just say 20:22 it would cost to send the three booklets 20:24 in one of these envelopes to zip code 20:26 of your choice per packet? 20:27 Do you remember what she said? 20:29 All right, some of you were listening. 20:30 50 cents, do the math. 20:33 That's five cents less than US postage stamp. 20:36 We call that a miracle of the Lord. 20:38 I mean, this is a phenomenal evangelism opportunity. 20:42 You get that the books and the shipping? 20:44 Mr. Danny, that's all of that. 20:45 The postage, and the booklets, and the envelope 20:49 going to someone in your neighborhood. 20:50 I mean, that is amazing. 20:52 Fifty cents? 20:53 You know, God provides these opportunities and we don't know 20:56 how long these opportunities are going to last. 20:57 We can't say, "Well, you know, that seems pretty good 20:59 but maybe I'll wait till next year." 21:00 You know what? 21:02 I'm going to encourage you to do that now. 21:03 If the Holy Spirit is impressing you to say, 21:04 "You know what? 21:06 I need to sponsor something in my area 21:07 of the United States or someplace else." 21:08 You may say, "You know what? 21:10 I want to go to Omaha, Nebraska." 21:11 Okay, call the call center like Jill's saying. 21:13 We can see if it's already been sponsored. 21:14 If not, we'll tell you other areas, 21:16 and just send it out there 21:17 because God wants us to sow the word, 21:20 sow the truth from the Bible, 21:22 and that's what's in these booklets. 21:23 And then God does the increase. 21:25 He just wants us to do it. 21:26 And we have the privilege. 21:28 Think about this. 21:29 It's a privilege 21:30 that God can use us as a vessel 21:32 that He can pour through. 21:33 And I will guarantee you, guarantee you that in heaven, 21:36 someone will come up to you and say, 21:37 "Thank you so much for sending this packet to me in the mail." 21:40 You'll say, "Well, I don't know you." 21:41 "That's right, you don't. 21:43 The Holy Spirit knew I was ready 21:44 and ripe for the harvest 21:46 and God used you to bring them truth." 21:48 I mean, it's just... It's exciting. Very exciting. 21:50 Our local church is involved here in this area too. 21:52 Yeah, sponsoring our local area here. 21:54 It's what an opportunity. 21:56 I'm excited. 21:57 You can probably tell that so... 21:58 Anyway, what a great opportunity. 22:00 Go ahead, Dr. Yvonne. 22:01 You know, there's no excuse. 22:03 We don't have any excuses now. 22:04 If you can make a phone call, you can witness. 22:07 There you go. 22:09 You can witness if... 22:10 A lot of people are shy, they don't want to... 22:12 And with COVID, I don't want to go door to door. 22:14 I don't want to pass out... Okay, you have another option. 22:17 You can call and you can donate, 22:20 and you can get a whole zip code 22:23 in your neighborhood 22:24 or somewhere else in the country. 22:26 Chicago needs it desperately. 22:28 You know, there are all these major cities 22:31 that are in such turmoil. 22:32 They need it desperately. 22:35 People need the Lord. 22:37 And the only way, the best way to do it is, I believe, 22:42 through media and through literature 22:44 and to just as you were just saying, sow the area. 22:47 That's right. 22:48 Spread it out like the leaves of autumn. 22:50 Get these books out and all you have to do 22:52 is make a phone call. 22:54 It's as easy as a phone call. 22:55 See the gospel should be, to me, 22:58 put out in the least expensive way it should be. 23:00 That's right. 23:01 Other words, not cost. 23:03 It's not how much money you have 23:04 so that you can do whatever. 23:06 So we've tried to take that out of it by asking donors 23:11 that are larger donors that can afford it. 23:13 And, you know, a lot of people can't afford 23:15 that kind of money, but people can give 100. 23:18 You can give $100, or $50, or $20, whatever, 23:22 as Jill said, when you go to the website. 23:24 And then we can choose the zip codes 23:26 or if you want your area done but to do it for 50 cents. 23:30 So we're trying to make it. It's like Christian education. 23:33 There's so much. 23:34 It's so expensive sometimes... 23:36 I was talking to somebody this week. 23:38 They said, "I have to send my kids to, 23:41 you know, the community college 23:42 because I can't afford Christian education." 23:45 Something's wrong with that. 23:46 I'm not here to complain, but Christian education 23:49 should not be more expensive than colleges, than the world. 23:55 Our literature should not be more expensive 23:57 than what you're going to buy in the world. 23:59 We should have this... 24:00 So this is, to me, I'm so excited about it 24:03 that we have people that we shared the vision 24:06 with that said, "Let us help." 24:07 Amen. 24:08 And so now for at least 6 million of these, 24:10 I think maybe a couple million in the last several weeks 24:13 have been ordered so far. 24:15 But we still while they last, 24:17 and hopefully we're going to have 24:19 by the end of the year or first of the year 24:22 we're going to have three different topics. 24:23 And then we're going to do the rapture and several... 24:26 You remember the other ones? 24:28 We got them written down anyway at home in a order. 24:31 The Sabbath? Is that one or not? 24:32 The Lord's day. The Lord's day. 24:34 Yeah. 24:35 To decide which day is the Lord's day 24:36 and go through that. 24:38 So a number of things like 24:39 that and we're coming from a little bit different angle 24:41 if I can use that because the Lord's day... 24:44 If you write about the Sabbath, not everybody's interested. 24:46 But if you say the truth about the Lord's day, 24:49 well, we do want to find out about the truth. 24:51 So, to me, Greg, to be able to get this and to do it for, 24:55 as you said, for less than one stamp, 24:58 it almost leaves us without excuse to say, 25:00 "Well, I can't afford to do it." 25:02 Or a church. What church? 25:04 Or really most of us individuals, 25:06 but what church couldn't afford 25:09 250 of each one for $49.50? 25:13 So it's really how important, 25:16 you know, is getting the gospel out? 25:18 You may have other ways, that's great. 25:20 But if you don't and you want a way that's very inexpensive. 25:24 So 750 books for less than $50 to have the whole series, 25:30 this is the way to do it. 25:31 So once... We're already getting responses. 25:33 Yeah, thank you. 25:35 We are... I was just going to say that. 25:36 Just this week, the letters started coming in from the zip 25:39 code mailings. 25:40 And people started writing in saying, 25:41 "This just showed up in my mailbox, 25:43 and I'm so excited about what I am learning." 25:47 So just this week, we started getting the first response 25:51 or the first wave from the zip code mailing. 25:53 So what a blessing. 25:54 Thank you for being faithful to God 25:56 and for writing the booklets. 25:57 And I know it's going to make a tremendous difference 26:00 in the lives of so many people. 26:01 You know, and I also want to say, thank you. 26:03 You know, we're thanking you for writing the books, 26:04 but we also want to thank you 26:06 because a lot of you already jumped on board. 26:07 And like Mr. Danny's mentioned, 26:09 I think is well past 2 million actually, 26:11 that have been gone and they are going out already, 26:13 are in the mail system, or you've already got the cases 26:15 and are passing them out in your neighborhood. 26:17 So thank you for standing with the ministry. 26:19 Like you've mentioned for years, 26:21 movers and shakers. 26:22 That's who you are at home, 26:24 and so thank you for catching the vision of evangelism. 26:26 It's encouraging. And Pacific Press. 26:28 Thank you, Dale, for printing these and Dale Galusha 26:30 and the whole team. 26:32 What an incredible job. 26:33 It's just amazing. 26:34 You two have worked with them particularly. 26:36 Yes, yes, they are wonderful. 26:37 They're on it and they are so ministry-minded. 26:40 They are about getting the gospel out 26:42 so we appreciate them. 26:44 Amen. They do an incredible job. 26:45 They have a great team. 26:47 Yeah, they do. 26:48 I love working with their team. 26:49 You just send an email and pretty soon, boom. 26:51 This comes back with a whole comprehensive. 26:53 They're doing a great job. 26:54 Their customer service is phenomenal. 26:56 So we're so privileged to partner with them. 26:57 And they look... The books look good too. 26:59 So when they show up at your house, 27:00 it's not something you're going to throw away. 27:02 And as Greg said, when you open it up and you see 27:04 some of these fabulous pictures on here... 27:07 Isn't that beautiful? 27:08 These are like Nathan Greene who's a very well known artist. 27:11 It's incredible. 27:12 And so we know this includes the expense of all of that. 27:16 Getting these pictures, and they're not free. 27:18 We have to get the rights to all of these. 27:20 But we decided, let's go ahead and put together something 27:23 so when it shows up at your house, it's not like oh, 27:26 this is some junk mail we throw away. 27:28 You open up and very nice print books and you... 27:31 I mean, it's just something I think people... 27:34 If you're interested in... And Greg in the back page. 27:37 Yes. What we have. 27:39 Oh, yeah. 27:40 The back page of each one of these booklets, 27:41 it's great too, because someone may have never heard of 3ABN. 27:44 If you can see that. 27:46 So right here you can see all the different ways. 27:47 Oh, wow, they are so fast there. 27:49 Thank you production. 27:50 So all the different ways that you can actually find out 27:52 more about truth. 27:53 So you can get 3ABN on Dish Network, Fios, by Verizon, 27:57 Apple TV, Fire TV, Amazon, YouTube, Roku. 28:01 The list goes on and on. 28:02 So there's ways in the back of the book 28:04 that people can find out more information. 28:06 So it's great. 28:07 Speaking of ways to watch 3ABN, 28:09 we are in the middle of launching phase two 28:13 of 3ABN+. 28:14 Now you may say, "What in the world is 3ABN+?" 28:17 3ABN+ gives you the same options 28:19 to stream all of 3ABN's networks. 28:22 So this is every... 28:24 All nine of our television networks, 28:25 all five of our radio networks. 28:27 Plus we have over 1500 programs 28:31 already on demand and adding daily. 28:34 So it's an incredible opportunity 28:37 for you to watch 3ABN not just when it streams, 28:40 but you can watch it on demand at any time 28:42 when you want. 28:44 You can sign in and get additional content. 28:46 It's free to sign in. 28:48 It is available now, of course, at our website, 3abnplus.tv. 28:52 It is already launched on Amazon Fire. 28:55 We are just launching on Roku, 28:58 which means pretty soon your experience, 29:00 if you watch on Amazon Fire or you watch on Roku 29:03 will change and you'll be able to get all the on 29:05 demand content as well. 29:07 So we're very excited about that. 29:08 On demand means what? On demand. 29:10 Basically, you can watch it when you want it. 29:11 So it's basically stored there so you can go there... 29:14 You don't have to follow the schedule 29:15 but it's just right there. 29:16 And you can push play and it'll actually play. 29:18 You can put pause and come back to it two hours later. 29:20 If you missed a live and you come back and say, 29:22 "I want to see what was on." 29:24 It would look like your Amazon Prime account 29:27 or your Netflix account. 29:28 Or you can click whatever movie 29:30 or documentary you want to watch. 29:31 So now you can click 29:33 your favorite 3ABN program and watch. 29:35 So I'm trying to hold up the app here. 29:37 This is if you have the android phone. 29:40 So this is the app what it looks like 29:42 on 3ABN for the phone app. 29:44 So we'll be changing this soon as well. 29:46 Where what you see here... 29:47 Well, this is the live stream 29:49 so I could click on 3ABN 29:50 and watch tonight's live right here or... 29:52 That seems kind of weird, doesn't it? 29:55 But what's coming soon, 29:56 and that's what we're telling you about 3ABN+. 29:58 This app will change 29:59 and you'll actually be able to watch programs 30:01 on demand right off of your phone app. 30:03 That option is not available right now 30:05 but it's coming soon. 30:06 So where it's launched, like you said, right now. 30:08 Amazon Fire and Roku... Amazon Fire and we just... 30:10 And Roku we just sent the paperwork 30:12 so it should be in the next couple days, 30:14 maybe even when this program re-airs 30:16 it will be available for you on Roku. 30:18 Tell us next week is... 30:20 Next Thursday we're not going to be doing a live from here, 30:21 are we? 30:23 No. 30:24 ASI is coming up. 30:25 Our trucks are pulling out on Sunday of next week 30:27 going to Orlando, Florida 30:29 for the ASI International Convention. 30:32 Of course, 3ABN's been privileged to broadcast 30:34 ASI for many, many years. 30:36 Great partnership. 30:38 What a privilege to partner with that incredible ministry. 30:41 So the meetings begin Wednesday night. 30:43 We want to encourage you to watch it right here on 3ABN. 30:47 If you can't make it to ASI in Florida, 30:50 you can watch it on 3ABN. 30:52 So the theme is, The Three Angels' Messages 30:55 Into All The World. 30:58 And the dates, of course, 30:59 are next week beginning Wednesday night August 4, 31:02 continuing through 31:03 Sabbath August 7. 31:05 Wednesday night at 6 PM Central 31:07 we hear from Pastor Doug Batchelor. 31:08 He's doing the keynote presentation. 31:10 Thursday night 6 PM Central is the members in action, 31:14 where we see the ASI ministries 31:16 and what they do to share Christ in the marketplace. 31:18 Friday night is Stephen and Felicia Lee. 31:21 Sabbath School is Gerald and Chantal Klingbeil 31:24 who are the authors of this quarterly this quarter, 31:28 the Sabbath School quarterly. 31:30 Church service is elder Ted N.C. 31:32 Wilson will be speaking, our General Conference president, 31:36 and then the evening will be closed out with Steve Dickman. 31:38 So we're looking forward to ASI and the partnership. 31:41 It's been many years has it, ASI and 3ABN working together? 31:44 Oh, yeah. Way back towards the beginnings. 31:46 That's right. All About evangelism. 31:48 3ABN has been always, of course, our focus and vision 31:51 but, of course, ASI... Great to work with them. 31:53 And we have something coming up here next month. 31:55 We do. 31:56 3ABN Fall Camp Meeting. 31:58 And Lord willing, we'll have a live in-house audience 32:01 that includes you. 32:02 So well, we hope that you can be here in person. 32:04 We have an exciting lineup there as well. 32:06 We do. 32:07 It's September 23 through September 25. 32:10 So we kick off camp meeting Thursday night, September 23. 32:14 Our featured speaker is Pastor James Rafferty, 32:18 who's 3ABN's latest addition. 32:20 He and his wife Rise who is a... 32:23 He's 3ABN director of discipleship. 32:24 And the whole theme of camp meeting is Something Better. 32:27 Looking at the Book of Hebrews, 32:28 when we look at the Book of Hebrews, 32:30 we see that Jesus is a better sacrifice, right? 32:33 And we see there's a better sacrifice, and a better man, 32:35 and a better high priest, and a better hope, 32:38 and we have hope of eternal life. 32:39 So looking forward to that. 32:41 We're going to hear, of course, from the 3ABN family. 32:43 Pastor Kenny Shelton, Pastor John Lomacang, 32:46 Shelley Quinn, Pastor Ryan Day. 32:49 We're going to have a special speaker 32:51 Sabbath for divine worship. 32:53 Dr. Ben Carson will be with us. 32:56 I don't know if you want to speak to that, 32:57 but we're excited about that as well. 32:59 He'll be in here. He'll be here in person. 33:00 Here in person. 33:02 He'll be here in person right here at 3ABN Camp Meeting. 33:04 We're looking forward to he and Candy, 33:06 his wife, and we're trying to get her 33:07 do a little bit of music with us too. 33:10 And... But his schedule... 33:11 He's literally is flying in and flying out. 33:14 And... But we're so glad to get Dr. Ben. 33:17 And he's very faithful. 33:19 Been faithful for many years to the Lord 33:21 and been in many positions, 33:23 you know, most recently in the government. 33:26 Now he's, of course, not working for the government, 33:28 but he's working, still working for the Lord. 33:30 So he has a testimony that's absolutely incredible. 33:35 Enough that a movie's been made about it. 33:37 Think Gifted Hands. 33:39 Books also about it, but his testimony is one 33:43 that appeals to all of us. 33:45 We had him I think, was it in 20? 33:47 We had him on 19. 2020. 33:49 Yeah, we had him January. 33:50 Loma Linda. February in 2020. 33:52 February 2020. There you go. 33:54 Camp meeting he spoke... 33:55 We had a tremendous response from him. 33:57 We did. Because he came there. 33:59 He didn't come as a politician though he was in the cabinet 34:03 for the, you know, government of the United States. 34:06 He came as an ambassador for Jesus. 34:09 And that's what he's going to be doing here 34:11 so we're looking forward to hearing from Dr. Ben. 34:14 And, of course, Dr. Yvonne and Mr. Danny, 34:17 lots of music at camp meeting as well too. 34:18 Oh, yes. 34:20 Yeah. That's always a blessing. 34:22 I love camp meeting 34:23 and we're looking forward to having you here. 34:25 We have RV spots. 34:27 They're filling up rather quickly. 34:29 Actually, already people are reserving those spots. 34:31 We have... Of course, for those of you that liked tent camp. 34:34 Wonderful, glad you enjoy that. 34:36 We have... 34:37 And I kind of do too, 34:38 but we have a bathhouse there as well 34:40 with showers and nice facility. 34:43 We'll be providing free food, complimentary food. 34:46 And right there in our gymnasium 34:48 the Adventist book center will be here. 34:50 And just if you've never been to 3ABN camp meeting before, 34:54 we hope that you can make it. 34:55 We've already heard from a number of you 34:57 that have been here before 34:58 and are looking forward to coming back. 35:00 And we've had a lot of new people too saying, 35:02 "Hey, we want to finally attend fall camp meeting." 35:04 There's nothing like having people here in person. 35:06 We've been doing these virtual camp meetings 35:08 the last several times, but boy, 35:09 we're just looking forward to camp meeting. 35:11 Oh, and children's meetings. 35:12 Yes. 35:14 We'll have some children's meetings as well. 35:15 NAPS will be with us. 35:17 That's right. And they're not taking naps. 35:18 No, they're not. 35:19 It's, of course, a National Association 35:21 for the Prevention of Starvation. 35:22 They do an incredible ministry, you know, their Bible. 35:24 And they're coming for children's meetings, 35:26 and we have some other people as well. 35:28 Aunt Francine Bergmann is working on that. 35:30 So we're just looking forward to meeting you. 35:32 We are. 35:33 We're looking forward to seeing you again. 35:35 We're looking forward to praying with you 35:36 and fellowshipping with you 35:37 and studying the Word of God with you. 35:40 So just come on down for 3ABN Camp Meeting. 35:43 You could go to our website, 3abncampmeeting.tv 35:47 and you get the schedule, you get the local hotels, 35:49 and all the other details. 35:51 Yeah, go ahead Mr. Danny. 35:52 Yvonne, before they leave, 35:53 they're going to leave transition. 35:55 We're going to bring in Pat and Art. 35:57 Yeah. 35:58 But would you want to tell folk how they can get these books 36:01 or would you rather Jill... 36:03 Maybe ask Jill to do it for us one more time? 36:06 Jill, would you do it one more time? 36:08 We would do it very quickly. 36:10 What you need to do is just call us. 36:13 Call us at (618) 627-4651 and you say, "Yes, 36:19 I want a case of 10 Commandments, 36:21 or a case of Hellfire, or a case of Salvation." 36:23 It's $16.50 for a case of 250. 36:27 Or you can call us and say, "Yes, 36:29 I want to participate in the zip code mailing." 36:32 All three booklets and the envelope 36:34 for 50 cents per home and just call us 36:38 right now (618) 627-4651. 36:42 Or you can go online, 3abn.tv 36:46 You can order the cases that way 36:48 or you can sponsor a zip code mailing. 36:50 You can't pick the zip code mailing, 36:52 but you can sponsor a zip code mailing 36:54 and 3ABN will pick different cities and send it that way. 36:57 So an incredible evangelistic opportunity. 36:59 Amen. 37:00 Again, the three topics. 37:03 The truth about salvation. 37:04 First of all, the people... We need the Lord. 37:06 That's right. 37:07 And it also talks about the character of God 37:10 and The Truth about Hellfire. 37:12 Again, talking about the character of God. 37:15 And then after we accept Jesus 37:18 and understand that He's a God of love, then it... 37:21 The Truth about the Ten Commandments, 37:23 why He gave us the Ten Commandments 37:25 and are they valid in our life today? 37:27 Were they nailed to the cross? 37:29 Are we under the new covenant? 37:31 So we cover these topics so they are, I think, together. 37:35 It's a good start for somebody who does not know 37:38 these foundational truths. 37:40 Here they are straight from the Word of God. 37:42 It's not our opinion in here. 37:44 It's what the Bible says. 37:45 Amen. 37:47 And I'm looking forward to even more. 37:48 Like Jill was mentioning a few minutes ago. More... 37:50 We're going to get letters, and phone calls, and stories 37:52 where people's lives have been changed. 37:53 That's because of you 37:55 stepping out and joining with 3ABN 37:57 in this incredible evangelism project. 38:00 We're going to transition with a song here 38:02 and we're going to invite Art and Pat Humphrey on. 38:05 And Mr. Danny, thank you, and Dr. Yvonne, 38:07 for continuing on here. 38:08 And a great topic tonight. 38:10 What can I do for you, Lord? 38:12 Just love it. 38:13 And I know that the Lord is going to continue to be here, 38:15 but we're going to transition with a song. 38:16 Reggie and Ladye Love Smith. Love them. 38:18 I tell you, they're just great musicians 38:20 and they have just a heart for people, 38:22 but most importantly, for the Lord. 38:24 And they're going to be bringing us a beautiful song. 38:26 He Knows The Way Home. 38:36 It does not matter 38:40 Where you started 38:44 But friend it matters 38:48 Where you end 38:52 We're all working 38:56 Toward forever 39:00 And there's only one road 39:04 That leads to him 39:08 The way is straight 39:12 The path is narrow 39:16 And though sometimes 39:19 It seems we're all alone 39:24 But an unseen hand 39:28 Is there to lead us 39:32 Just follow Jesus 39:36 He knows the way home 39:48 He never said 39:52 We would not suffer 39:56 And he never said 39:59 That we'd fail no more 40:04 He never said 40:08 We're spared the battle 40:12 But he said 40:14 He's already won the war 40:20 The way is straight 40:24 The path is narrow 40:28 And though sometimes 40:31 It seems we're all alone 40:36 But an unseen hand 40:40 Is there to lead us 40:44 Just follow Jesus 40:48 He knows the way home 40:52 The way is straight 40:56 The path is narrow 41:00 And though sometimes 41:03 It seems we're all alone 41:08 But an unseen hand 41:12 Is there to lead us 41:16 Just follow Jesus 41:20 He knows the way home 41:24 Just follow Jesus 41:30 He knows the way home 41:42 Hello and welcome back to 3ABN Today Live. 41:45 We've kind of changed seats now. 41:46 I know. 41:48 We're on the host and co-host. 41:49 We are. 41:50 So you be the host and I'll be the co-host. 41:52 No, I like it the other way. 41:53 The other way. 41:54 That's usually the simpler one, right? 41:57 Well, we have some special guest tonight. 41:59 I hate to say guest because they're family. 42:01 And we've been knowing each other 42:03 for 35 probably years or so. 42:06 Right? At least. 42:08 Art and Pat Humphrey. 42:09 So glad that you're here. 42:10 Thank you for inviting us. 42:12 And now, Yvonne, you've been knowing them 42:14 for quite a few years yourself, right? 42:16 Yes, they are wonderful people. 42:18 Really sold out for the Lord. 42:20 Did you know that when 3ABN very first started... 42:24 That, of course, I didn't... 42:26 I know very little now but knew very... 42:28 Almost nothing about television, 42:30 knew nothing about production, 42:32 but the Lord sent a young family up here 42:35 and to direct, to be our directors of 3ABN, 42:38 one of the very first ones to take us 42:40 from a cornfield to actually going on the air. 42:43 So we had engineers, 42:45 but we didn't have a producer or production manager 42:48 and so here comes Art and Pat Humphrey. 42:52 So thank you so much, because without you, 42:54 we may still be planting corn now all these years. 42:58 You know, that was interesting because you and Kenny 43:01 never offered me a job. 43:04 Never. 43:05 I don't know. 43:07 You just... They just never offered. 43:08 We came up here several times and we just... 43:11 Well, are they going to offers us a job or anything? 43:13 You know, they just.. 43:15 Would just love to have us come up here but when we got back, 43:18 it was just dead. 43:20 We prayed. 43:21 We prayed earnestly. 43:22 In fact, I went on a three day fast. 43:24 And because we weren't just going to come up here 43:27 without knowing that God was leading. 43:29 And so I went on this fast and in the middle of the fast 43:32 our little girl who was five years old at the time 43:35 said, "Mommy, guess what? 43:38 I saw an angel. 43:40 And the angel told me that we're going to 3ABN?" 43:44 I said, "Really?" 43:45 So that was our answer. 43:47 And so we knew that God was leading 43:49 and He worked things out so that we could come. 43:52 We were in the middle of building a house 43:54 and we were not planning on moving, 43:57 but the Lord had other ideas than mines. 44:00 And so we're just so thankful that we had this opportunity 44:03 to be part of the beginning of this ministry 44:06 and how you have grown. 44:08 Oh, we're just amazed. 44:10 I mean, we were in that small building at first 44:12 and now look at how God has blessed. 44:15 Amen. 44:16 I came home from work and she started telling me 44:19 about the angel and Candace, our daughter. 44:22 I said, "That's it. We're going." 44:25 We made a decision just like that. 44:28 It's an, indeed, a miracle story 44:29 because we were in the middle of building a house 44:33 and the house was not finished. 44:35 So how do you sell a house that's not finished? 44:38 But God can sell a house that's not finished. 44:39 That's right. 44:41 Okay, come on. 44:42 You know, so we started doing... 44:44 Trying to find somebody to buy the house. 44:45 And Pat, you probably can remember the details 44:47 better than I can. 44:48 Yes. Someone called at midnight. 44:49 This was the day before we were planning to leave, right? 44:53 The house wasn't sold, it wasn't finished. 44:55 So midnight, somebody called. 44:57 I was half sleep. 44:58 You know, don't try to call me in the middle of the night 45:01 because I'm very groggy. 45:03 And so this lady called who's a friend and she said, 45:06 "Hey, I know someone. 45:08 I heard you guys are moving and you're wanting to sell 45:10 your house, and I have somebody who wants to buy your house." 45:14 And I'm like, "Okay." 45:16 And I knew this person and they didn't have any money 45:18 and I figured their friend didn't have any money 45:20 either and so I said, 45:22 "Okay, yeah. 45:24 Well, you know, tell her to come by tomorrow. 45:26 We're packing, we're pulling out tomorrow. 45:29 Just tell her to come by." 45:31 And she did come the next day. We were busy packing. 45:34 We didn't even take her... 45:35 We were living in a trailer in front of the house. 45:37 We didn't even bother to take her up there. 45:39 We sent her up there. 45:40 Yeah, we sent her up there. 45:42 We said, "Okay. Well, you know, go and look, we're busy. 45:44 We're getting out of here. 45:46 And she goes up and she looks through the house 45:48 and she came back a few minutes later 45:50 and she said, 45:52 "This is what I want. 45:53 This is what I'm going to buy." 45:55 And she said, "I've got cash and I want to buy your house." 45:58 And so, we were just blown away 46:02 and we knew that this was the Lord leading. 46:05 She had a $5,000 donation. 46:08 I mean, not... Down payment that she did. 46:10 You know, and so we left with $5,000 cash. 46:14 So that was it. 46:16 And the Lord brought us here and we spent a year here. 46:19 Art says that was his very best 46:22 and favorite year in television. 46:24 Wow, praise the Lord. Praise the Lord. 46:26 And about what year was that? 46:28 Ooh, man. 46:29 It was 1986. 46:30 The end of, yes, December. 46:32 Very beginning. 46:33 Entire year of '87 we spent here. 46:36 Yeah, 'cause that's first time we went into production. 46:39 We'd been building a building. 46:41 And for then we're just... 46:43 When we're ready for, 46:45 you know, to have production manager 46:46 and somebody who knew what they were doing, 46:50 here they show up. 46:51 So that's again... 46:53 We don't believe in coincidence, 46:54 we believe in divine providence. 46:56 So the Lord brought you up here 46:59 from the dream of a five year old. 47:01 So the young folks as Jill says it, 47:03 young men and, of course, women dream dreams, 47:06 old men have visions and all that. 47:08 So the beautiful part about 3ABN 47:11 is I had the young man's dreams 47:13 when I was young and now I've got the old man's vision. 47:16 So I've hit both side going from the young to the old, 47:21 but still dreaming and having visions of the ministry 47:25 going forward and multitudes coming to Jesus. 47:28 You know, my daughter was five and so to verify, 47:32 we were playing with some little felts. 47:34 You know, the kind that we have in Sabbath School, 47:36 and she had the angel peeling it off and putting it on. 47:39 I said, "Candace, was the angel that big? 47:42 She said, "No daddy, 47:43 he was bigger than you?" 47:48 That's beautiful. Great story. 47:50 So y'all came up, 47:51 got us started in production 47:52 till we got other people 47:54 and he would train people, of course. 47:55 So we had some young fellows, 47:58 Rodney Laney and Bradley Walker, 48:01 and they were in high school 48:02 and some of those started coming out 48:04 and now they're still here today after all these years. 48:07 And they are directors and producers and, 48:10 you know, been here for so many years. 48:12 But thank you for the training that you... 48:15 Not only what you did, 48:16 but training that you gave our young 48:18 because we were getting people out of high school 48:19 to come out and work, you know. 48:22 So when we came, we just never dreamed that 48:24 we were only going to be here a year. 48:26 We had planned to be here, you know, on a permanent basis, 48:30 but somehow the Lord called us to go to the Review and Herald 48:35 and Art can tell you a little bit about that. 48:38 I still remember, Danny, 48:39 I remember when we told you that 48:43 we were going to be leaving. 48:45 That I had accepted a call to go to the Review and Herald 48:48 and I remember the look of shock on your face but... 48:52 Kenny pulled a knife. 48:53 Oh, my goodness. 48:56 You remember that? No. 48:57 Kenny said, "I don't remember that." 48:59 You know, I wouldn't remember it if I remembered it. 49:01 He went into his pocket, you know, popped it out, you know. 49:04 Just teasing, of course. 49:06 So we went... Did you hear that? 49:08 She said just teasing. 49:10 So went to ASI in '87. 49:14 So that's where I met May Chung and Kay Kuzma. 49:17 Of course, they already knew you. 49:18 Yeah. 49:19 And so they were following you around. 49:22 And so a friend of mine 49:24 and former college associate was there. 49:29 Delbert Baker who was the editor 49:30 of Message Magazine as he said, 49:32 "Art, come on, let's go for a walk." 49:33 So we walked and I huffed and puffed and puffed 49:36 and he had been a runner. 49:39 He was a runner. 49:40 You know, we walked and we must have walked two miles, 49:42 you know? 49:43 You weighed more then? 49:44 I did. 49:46 I know. 49:48 And so we walked around there at Glorieta, New Mexico. 49:51 Must have been about an hour. 49:53 And so he didn't tell me anything but he was recruiting. 49:58 You know, he had heard something I guess, 50:00 about my wife and so we got recruited to Message Magazine. 50:05 Yes, it's amazing how God calls you into things. 50:08 I never took a journalism class, 50:10 I never took a communication course. 50:12 I think you can probably relate to that, Danny. 50:14 Oh, yeah. 50:15 But, you know, God calls you into things 50:17 and it's just amazing. 50:19 You have talents that you didn't even know that 50:22 that you had but... 50:24 So I spent four years there as assistant editor of Message 50:28 and then went on to edit another publication as well. 50:32 And then went into freelance writing 50:35 after I left The Review. 50:37 But somehow in the course of my writing experiences, 50:42 we got invited to become authors for Guide Magazine 50:47 and we were asked to author a column called Ask It Basket. 50:52 And this was an advice column for kids. 50:57 The kids... And these were real questions. 51:00 They would write in questions like, 51:02 how do you tell that a boy likes you? 51:05 Or I'm a 12 year old girl... 51:08 Yes, there is a graphic I think, 51:10 that they can show... 51:12 I'm a 12 year old girl 51:14 and I get embarrassed around boys. 51:16 How come? 51:17 And all kinds of topics that they would write in. 51:23 And we would respond to those questions. 51:25 And so after about five years, I think, of doing that, 51:29 we decided that we would compile some of the questions 51:33 that came in into a book. 51:34 Because we thought we've got enough material here 51:37 that we can actually create a book. 51:38 And so, Don't sweat it! 51:40 Just Ask Art and Pat was a book 51:44 that was inspired by doing the Ask It Basket column. 51:49 And so, you know, when you're a writer, 51:52 you have this invisible audience 51:55 and you don't often hear feedback from people. 51:59 You know, they're out there, 52:00 you know they're reading your material, 52:02 but you don't really get any feedback. 52:03 And so it's very rewarding when you do get some feedback. 52:08 And one day at church, a young man came up to me and he said, 52:12 "You know, when I was a young teenager," 52:15 he said, "Someone gave me in Sabbath School." 52:17 And he's going to tell his story in just a bit 52:19 because we have a recording of him telling his testimony. 52:23 So he said, "Someone gave me your book in Sabbath School." 52:27 And he said, 52:29 "I was, you know, 52:30 just attracted to it and I read..." 52:32 And so he's going to tell his story now 52:35 of how this book actually impacted him 52:37 as a young teenager. 52:39 Okay. 52:40 All right. 52:41 So when I was young... 52:43 Well, when I was probably about 12 or 13 years old, 52:47 I went to my church at Joshua SDA Church in Texas 52:51 and we all went to... 52:54 Go to our Sabbath School like usual. 52:56 And at that time, 52:57 our Sabbath School leader gave us this book. 53:00 And as I was holding this book, 53:01 I remember being mesmerized 53:03 by how amazingly colorful it is 53:05 and how beautiful the pictures are. 53:08 And so naturally as a young 12, 13 year old boy, 53:12 I was very drawn to it 53:14 and I wanted to open it up to see what it is inside. 53:16 And I remember going across a chapter 53:19 that specifically talked about sexuality, 53:22 and I had been interested in that as a young man. 53:25 And so I decided to go ahead 53:26 and just kind of look through it 53:28 and read through the chapter. 53:29 And I remember one of my friends coming up 53:31 and sneaking up behind me. 53:33 And he was actually making fun of me 53:36 and teasing me a little bit about it. 53:37 And I felt, of course, embarrassed about it. 53:40 And... 53:41 But you know, it's really hard for a young person 53:45 in their early teens 12, 13 years old, 53:49 to be able to have these conversations 53:51 and to be able to do it in a bias free zone 53:54 where you actually feel like you're not being judged. 53:58 And so it is very helpful to be able to read 54:00 this kind of material coming from a book, 54:02 especially when you don't have parents 54:03 who give you the talk. 54:05 And so whenever they don't give you those talks 54:07 whenever you're young, it's kind of hard 54:09 to discover those things on your own. 54:11 So I remember going through this book 54:12 and reading through some of these key points on, 54:15 if I can say, how to be a man, 54:17 so to speak, and also learning about 54:19 things concerning sexuality and things about my life 54:22 that were very pertinent to me as a young person. 54:25 It was very, very helpful 54:26 during my time as a young person. 54:29 During that time period, I was very... 54:31 Like most teens, very confused and trying to find my identity. 54:35 But I was able to find it through the help of this book. 54:38 And through that and the Holy Spirit guiding me, 54:41 I was able to become the man that I am today. 54:44 And if there was anything that I would say 54:45 to a young person it would be to don't sweat it man, 54:49 just read this book instead. 54:53 Wow. 54:54 You know, the testimonies to me 54:57 are the most effective thing that we have. 54:59 Like you said, you don't always know as a writer, 55:02 but when you actually meet someone later and say, 55:05 "Look, here I was in my 12, 13 years old, 55:09 and you really helped me." 55:10 You know. 55:11 And I mean, that's got to be rewarding to you, Pat. 55:14 It's very rewarding. 55:16 And it's like I said, something that you don't often hear. 55:18 You don't get that kind of feedback. 55:20 So it's wonderful to know 55:22 that you've impacted someone's life in a positive way. 55:24 Yes. 55:26 And I'm not the writer, but I designed the cover. 55:28 We had a good friend... 55:30 And the pages also. 55:31 We had a good friend, Ted Butler, 55:33 who is an amazing graphic artist and a fine artist. 55:38 He actually did the artwork. 55:40 And so anyway, the kids always asked me though, 55:44 "Why are their heads so big?" 55:47 That's what they ask me. 55:49 So that's not the question 55:50 that you want to ask Ask It Basket. 55:55 That's good. 55:56 Now that book is not in print right now. 55:59 But what do you think about maybe reprinting it? 56:01 Yes. 56:02 I've got a feeling that kids are the same growing up 56:05 10 years, 20 years ago. 56:07 We all have the same questions growing up. 56:09 So it sounds like to me it'd be very relevant. 56:11 Oh, I think so. 56:13 Yeah. 56:14 We only have a... 56:15 In this hour, we've got about a minute and 30 seconds. 56:17 What I want to do, 56:19 what we really want to feature after a while... 56:21 We're going to go through with some more history. 56:23 You'll all find out more about your new ministry. 56:25 But this is The Crowning Act. 56:27 And tell us... 56:29 Just to tease us just a little bit 56:30 right before we go. 56:31 That what we're going to be hearing about the next hour. 56:33 Okay. 56:35 The Bible says in Matthew 24:23, 56:39 "Then if any man shall say unto you, 56:40 'Lo, here's Christ, or there, believe it or not.'" 56:44 We're going to have a film 56:46 that people can share on the internet 56:49 about the false appearing of Satan as Christ. 56:54 Wow. 56:56 Okay, that's good. 56:57 That's going to be a year from now, 56:59 two years from now, or right away? 57:01 The film is being released today. 57:03 But we're not going to tell you the website 57:05 where you can see it. 57:06 You've got to stay tuned. 57:07 Yeah.
