Yeah. 00:07:17.90\00:07:19.37 So then tell us just a little bit about Ouachita, 00:07:19.40\00:07:20.74 our program tonight, 00:07:20.77\00:07:22.10 our two hour live is actually surrendering 00:07:22.14\00:07:23.51 our idea. 00:07:23.54\00:07:24.87 So we're going to talk about that, 00:07:24.91\00:07:26.24 but while you're talking about Ouachita College. 00:07:26.27\00:07:27.61 Tell us a little bit about that because someone may say, 00:07:27.64\00:07:28.98 I've never heard of that. 00:07:29.01\00:07:30.35 Hey, maybe I want to send my kid there, 00:07:30.38\00:07:31.71 or maybe they want to go to the college, 00:07:31.75\00:07:33.08 tell us about that? 00:07:33.11\00:07:34.45 Yes, yes. 00:07:34.48\00:07:35.82 Ouachita Hills was started 00:07:35.85\00:07:37.19 by the vision of Dr. Mrs. Clark. 00:07:37.22\00:07:38.55 They started their academy in their own home 00:07:38.59\00:07:40.76 and it grew to an academy 00:07:40.79\00:07:42.36 and later they started the college. 00:07:42.39\00:07:44.13 And a fundamental difference in Christian education 00:07:44.16\00:07:48.96 is that Christian education takes on the perspective 00:07:49.00\00:07:52.57 of not only educating for this life, 00:07:52.60\00:07:55.07 but for eternal life. 00:07:55.10\00:07:56.87 In the highest sense, the work of education 00:07:56.91\00:07:58.34 and the work of redemption are one. 00:07:58.37\00:08:01.01 And so, Christian education takes on this perspective 00:08:01.04\00:08:04.38 that our goal is not to train young people 00:08:04.41\00:08:09.38 where their primary objective of driving an SUV, 00:08:09.42\00:08:13.05 living in the suburbs, 00:08:13.09\00:08:14.79 getting a nice nest egg of retirement, 00:08:14.82\00:08:17.06 and then retiring and riding off into the sunset 00:08:17.09\00:08:19.63 and that's it. 00:08:19.66\00:08:21.03 I'm not saying there's anything in and of itself bad with that, 00:08:21.06\00:08:24.33 but the secular education takes on that limited perspective 00:08:24.37\00:08:27.84 whereas Christian education takes on the possible, 00:08:27.87\00:08:31.74 total possible existence of man 00:08:31.77\00:08:35.08 and not only serve us in this life, 00:08:35.11\00:08:36.88 but serve us in the life to come. 00:08:36.95\00:08:38.75 And Ouachita Hills Academy and College 00:08:38.78\00:08:41.65 endeavor to ground the principles of education 00:08:41.68\00:08:46.32 upon that broad perspective of eternity 00:08:46.35\00:08:50.93 and the theme of education 00:08:50.96\00:08:54.83 should be restoration 00:08:54.86\00:08:56.97 of the mind, body and soul back to the image of God. 00:08:57.03\00:09:00.37 And the unique thing about Ouachita Hills 00:09:00.40\00:09:03.04 is that there is this, 00:09:03.07\00:09:05.51 this work study program that educates not on the mind, 00:09:05.54\00:09:10.68 but the physical as well. 00:09:10.71\00:09:12.25 And we have a unique canvassing program 00:09:12.28\00:09:15.72 in which the young people are able to pay their way 00:09:15.75\00:09:17.92 through school. 00:09:17.95\00:09:19.42 And with the ballooning costs of education today, 00:09:19.45\00:09:23.79 you're talking 30, 40, $50,000 a year 00:09:23.86\00:09:26.76 for a year of college. 00:09:26.83\00:09:28.93 So you can be graduating 00:09:28.96\00:09:30.30 from college 80 to a $100,000 in debt, 00:09:30.37\00:09:33.44 easy, easy. 00:09:33.47\00:09:35.17 And Ouachita Hills College is affordable. 00:09:35.20\00:09:37.84 It's only 10,000 a year. 00:09:37.87\00:09:39.31 And the vast majority of the students 00:09:39.34\00:09:41.41 because of the canvassing program 00:09:41.44\00:09:43.11 are able to... 00:09:43.14\00:09:44.48 Are able to sell in literature. 00:09:44.51\00:09:45.85 Yes, because of... 00:09:45.88\00:09:47.22 Yes, selling Christian literature 00:09:47.25\00:09:48.58 door-to-door, 00:09:48.62\00:09:49.95 it's also missionary work, 00:09:49.98\00:09:51.32 at the same time they're able to pay 00:09:51.35\00:09:52.69 their way through school 00:09:52.72\00:09:54.06 and the vast majority of them 00:09:54.09\00:09:55.42 graduate with little or no debt. 00:09:55.46\00:09:56.83 So praise the Lord. 00:09:56.86\00:09:58.19 We want to train missionaries for the Lord, Jesus. 00:09:58.23\00:09:59.56 And we can't have them have this burden of debt 00:09:59.59\00:10:01.76 on their shoulders, 00:10:01.80\00:10:03.13 so that they can't even be a missionary. 00:10:03.16\00:10:05.17 And so, Ouachita Hills college 00:10:05.20\00:10:08.00 has this value of training missionaries, 00:10:08.04\00:10:12.61 and also providing an education that is affordable. 00:10:12.64\00:10:15.51 So we have a theology degree, we have a business degree, 00:10:15.54\00:10:17.91 we have a music degree, we have an education degree. 00:10:17.95\00:10:19.28 Nice. Good. 00:10:19.31\00:10:21.02 So four? 00:10:21.05\00:10:22.38 Four major emphasis and bachelors, 00:10:22.42\00:10:25.82 and we also have associate degrees as well. 00:10:25.85\00:10:27.52 And this fall, we're starting a media minor. 00:10:27.56\00:10:30.63 Media minor, and the vision is so that every student 00:10:30.69\00:10:34.66 can have the opportunity to learn how to harness 00:10:34.73\00:10:37.50 the internet platform for ministry. 00:10:37.53\00:10:39.23 Amen. So praise God for that. 00:10:39.27\00:10:40.60 Amen. Amen. 00:10:40.67\00:10:42.00 That's great. 00:10:42.04\00:10:43.37 We need to talk about 00:10:43.41\00:10:44.74 some internship possible at 3ABN. 00:10:44.77\00:10:46.11 Absolutely. 00:10:46.14\00:10:47.48 So that's a discussion for another time. 00:10:47.51\00:10:48.84 Absolutely. Yes. 00:10:48.88\00:10:50.21 But if they want to get in contact, 00:10:50.25\00:10:51.58 I actually have a little website 00:10:51.61\00:10:52.95 written down here, but it's ohc.org, 00:10:52.98\00:10:54.32 if they want more information. 00:10:54.35\00:10:55.68 Yes. 00:10:55.72\00:10:57.05 Ouachita Hills College, 00:10:57.09\00:10:59.32 the website is www.ohc.org. 00:10:59.35\00:11:04.99 And you could find all the information there, 00:11:05.03\00:11:07.73 phone number, address, and everything like that. 00:11:07.76\00:11:09.53 It's an incredible school. 00:11:09.56\00:11:10.93 And we just want to encourage you 00:11:10.97\00:11:12.30 if you're a parent or a grandparent, 00:11:12.33\00:11:13.67 and you have children 00:11:13.70\00:11:15.04 who are high school or college age, 00:11:15.07\00:11:16.81 that you would definitely check out 00:11:16.87\00:11:18.24 Ouachita Hills Academy and College. 00:11:18.27\00:11:20.74 Greg and I have been there and we believe in the mission 00:11:20.78\00:11:23.61 and support that. 00:11:23.65\00:11:24.98 So very grateful for your leadership 00:11:25.01\00:11:26.92 there at Ouachita Hills College. 00:11:26.98\00:11:28.68 I want to remind you that this is a live program. 00:11:28.72\00:11:30.69 I want to give you 00:11:30.75\00:11:32.09 the contact information right now, 00:11:32.12\00:11:33.46 and then we'll launch into our subject for tonight. 00:11:33.49\00:11:36.02 But the contact information for you to text us. 00:11:36.06\00:11:39.63 Let's start with that. 00:11:39.66\00:11:40.96 The texting number is (618) 228-3975. 00:11:41.00\00:11:46.13 That number again is (618) 228-3975. 00:11:46.17\00:11:50.64 You can text us your questions 00:11:50.67\00:11:52.74 or you can email in your questions 00:11:52.77\00:11:55.41 to live@3abn.org. 00:11:55.44\00:11:59.48 That's live@3abn.org. 00:11:59.51\00:12:03.42 We're talking tonight about 00:12:03.49\00:12:04.92 surrendering our ideas to scripture. 00:12:04.95\00:12:08.52 And, you know, it's an amazing topic to me 00:12:08.56\00:12:10.99 because I think about when you enter marriage, 00:12:11.03\00:12:13.60 you have presuppositions, do you not? 00:12:13.63\00:12:15.80 You have an idea of, 00:12:15.83\00:12:17.17 this is what marriage would entail, 00:12:17.23\00:12:18.77 or if you start a new job, 00:12:18.80\00:12:20.60 you think I have an idea of what this job entails. 00:12:20.64\00:12:23.81 But many times I love your topic 00:12:23.87\00:12:25.54 because many times 00:12:25.57\00:12:26.94 when we study the Word of God, 00:12:26.98\00:12:28.31 we don't realize that we bring 00:12:28.34\00:12:30.25 to our study of the Word of God presuppositions 00:12:30.31\00:12:34.75 or our own concepts or ideas. 00:12:34.78\00:12:38.65 Yes, absolutely. 00:12:38.69\00:12:40.26 When we think about studying the Bible, 00:12:40.32\00:12:43.63 typically we focus on methodology, 00:12:43.69\00:12:46.53 which is like how, the, 00:12:46.56\00:12:48.93 how to the approach 00:12:48.96\00:12:50.30 of how you break down the Scripture 00:12:50.33\00:12:52.37 and that's important, 00:12:52.40\00:12:53.77 but there's also other elements 00:12:53.80\00:12:55.67 that take place in the process of interpretation. 00:12:55.70\00:12:58.17 You have the subject, which is me. 00:12:58.21\00:13:01.14 You have the object, which is Scripture. 00:13:01.18\00:13:02.78 In between you have methodology. 00:13:02.81\00:13:04.71 And the Bible actually has a lot to say about the subject. 00:13:04.75\00:13:09.62 In other words, what is going on 00:13:09.65\00:13:12.85 to the person involved in the Bible study? 00:13:12.89\00:13:16.62 Are there ideas already in there from culture, 00:13:16.66\00:13:20.10 from politics, from my family 00:13:20.13\00:13:22.20 upbringing that I bring to the table 00:13:22.23\00:13:24.67 prior to which is presuppositions, 00:13:24.70\00:13:27.74 pre meaning before suppositions ideas. 00:13:27.77\00:13:30.61 So you have ideas that you bring to the text. 00:13:30.67\00:13:34.04 And many people are not even aware 00:13:34.08\00:13:35.91 that there are presuppositions 00:13:35.94\00:13:38.48 lenses through which you read Scripture, 00:13:38.51\00:13:42.72 and presuppositions are powerful things 00:13:42.75\00:13:45.45 because you look at Jesus. 00:13:45.49\00:13:47.02 The Bible says that Jesus is the Word. 00:13:47.06\00:13:50.33 And from an external appearance, 00:13:50.39\00:13:53.50 Jesus looked like a peasant first century Jew, 00:13:53.56\00:13:59.53 didn't have a lot of money and was going around 00:13:59.57\00:14:01.74 with a bunch of fishermen. 00:14:01.77\00:14:03.91 But it was interesting because the Jewish population, 00:14:03.94\00:14:09.11 the elite of the Jewish population 00:14:09.14\00:14:11.05 looked at Jesus, 00:14:11.08\00:14:12.41 they didn't see anything. 00:14:12.45\00:14:13.82 Yeah. 00:14:13.85\00:14:15.18 They didn't see anything, when John the Baptist said, 00:14:15.22\00:14:17.09 "Behold, the lamb of God 00:14:17.12\00:14:18.45 who takes away the sins of this world." 00:14:18.49\00:14:20.86 They looked at Jesus 00:14:20.89\00:14:22.22 and saw nothing but an imposter 00:14:22.26\00:14:25.06 because of the presuppositions of what the Messiah was to be. 00:14:25.09\00:14:28.83 And those were cultural presuppositions 00:14:28.86\00:14:30.97 that Jesus was to come as a King 00:14:31.00\00:14:33.40 or the Messiah was to come. 00:14:33.44\00:14:34.77 So cultural meaning that was taught in the schools, 00:14:34.80\00:14:37.07 or maybe what mommy and daddy told them, okay. 00:14:37.11\00:14:40.04 It was a political lens conveniently 00:14:40.08\00:14:42.84 so that the Messiah would come and overthrow the Romans 00:14:42.88\00:14:46.21 and re-establish the Jewish prominence 00:14:46.25\00:14:49.95 as a political entity. 00:14:49.98\00:14:51.65 So that was a very powerful idea. 00:14:51.69\00:14:54.06 And that presupposition was an ideal 00:14:54.12\00:14:59.29 that they weren't willing to give up 00:14:59.33\00:15:01.33 I've never thought of it as an ideal, 00:15:01.36\00:15:02.70 but it's an interesting one. 00:15:02.73\00:15:04.07 Yeah. 00:15:04.10\00:15:05.43 Absolutely 'cause they held to that. 00:15:05.47\00:15:06.84 The held to that, 00:15:06.87\00:15:08.20 no matter how much evidence that Jesus gave, 00:15:08.24\00:15:09.90 no matter that Jesus rose a man from the dead after four days. 00:15:09.94\00:15:15.68 You can read the Bible, you know, the Jews were there 00:15:15.71\00:15:18.45 and where did they go? 00:15:18.48\00:15:19.81 Where did they go? 00:15:19.85\00:15:21.18 They went back to Jerusalem and what was their discussion? 00:15:21.22\00:15:23.15 Oh, Jesus might be the Messiah. 00:15:23.18\00:15:24.55 No, they said, "We want to kill Jesus 00:15:24.59\00:15:26.76 and we want to kill Lazarus as well." 00:15:26.79\00:15:28.59 The evidence. Right. 00:15:28.62\00:15:29.96 That's idolatry. 00:15:30.03\00:15:31.36 In other words, you have a dead man 00:15:31.39\00:15:32.96 that's been raised alive. 00:15:32.99\00:15:34.30 And rather than relooking at your ideas, 00:15:34.36\00:15:38.67 they rather kill the evidence. 00:15:38.70\00:15:41.04 They rather kill the evidence. 00:15:41.07\00:15:42.40 And so, it's not the availability 00:15:42.44\00:15:45.51 or the lack of availability of truth. 00:15:45.54\00:15:48.24 It's the hypocrisy of the search. 00:15:48.28\00:15:50.41 So people like, you know, show me the truth, 00:15:50.45\00:15:52.51 show me the truth, show me the truth. 00:15:52.55\00:15:53.88 And then you show them the truth. 00:15:53.92\00:15:55.35 And it conflicts with their presupposition, 00:15:55.38\00:15:57.15 which is an ideal. 00:15:57.19\00:15:58.52 And rather than having this challenge their idea, 00:15:58.55\00:16:01.66 they'd rather kill the evidence because this is an ideal. 00:16:01.69\00:16:04.36 This is an idol. 00:16:04.39\00:16:05.73 And these are even religious ideas... 00:16:05.76\00:16:07.13 Religious ideas. 00:16:07.13\00:16:08.46 Because these are religious leaders. 00:16:08.50\00:16:09.83 Yes, absolutely. 00:16:09.86\00:16:11.40 So shows you how powerful these ideas are. 00:16:11.43\00:16:15.00 And we hold on to them. 00:16:15.04\00:16:17.64 And many times we think of ideals 00:16:17.67\00:16:19.57 in terms of like materialism my car, 00:16:19.61\00:16:22.51 my house, my job, my bank account. 00:16:22.54\00:16:25.31 And those are real ideals, 00:16:25.35\00:16:26.82 but we live in an age 00:16:26.85\00:16:28.52 our ideals are also ideological, 00:16:28.55\00:16:31.55 our ideas. 00:16:31.59\00:16:32.92 Wow. 00:16:32.95\00:16:34.29 And if we're coming to a place 00:16:34.32\00:16:35.66 that is so polarized in society, 00:16:35.69\00:16:37.53 where we can look at the same evidence, 00:16:37.56\00:16:40.33 the same video clip, the same information, 00:16:40.40\00:16:45.40 and people are on opposite sides 00:16:45.43\00:16:49.04 of the conclusion of viewing the same evidence. 00:16:49.07\00:16:51.97 Why is that? 00:16:52.01\00:16:53.34 Is because of the presuppositions 00:16:53.38\00:16:55.24 that are there. 00:16:55.28\00:16:56.61 And that's why our world is so polarized 00:16:56.64\00:16:58.91 because we hold on to those ideas. 00:16:58.95\00:17:01.02 So this is what we're talking about tonight, 00:17:01.05\00:17:02.38 because the key word here 00:17:02.42\00:17:03.75 that I see on this title is surrendering. 00:17:03.82\00:17:05.15 Absolutely, surrendering. 00:17:05.19\00:17:06.52 So you're going to tell us how we, 00:17:06.55\00:17:08.22 because we all have these presuppositions. 00:17:08.26\00:17:10.86 We all have these ideas. Yeah. 00:17:10.89\00:17:13.13 And we get them from culture. 00:17:13.16\00:17:14.73 We get them from the media. 00:17:14.73\00:17:16.06 Every time we read a news article, 00:17:16.10\00:17:18.03 every time we listen to the radio, 00:17:18.07\00:17:20.44 every time we go on the internet, 00:17:20.47\00:17:22.17 we are getting ideas in our head 00:17:22.20\00:17:24.81 that are presuppositional, 00:17:24.84\00:17:26.44 that are frameworks 00:17:26.47\00:17:27.81 that impinge on how we see the world 00:17:27.84\00:17:31.01 and we get them unconsciously. 00:17:31.05\00:17:33.82 And many people think that they're being objective 00:17:33.85\00:17:36.25 when reality they're viewing life 00:17:36.28\00:17:39.02 through the lens 00:17:39.05\00:17:40.39 of their chosen presuppositional framework. 00:17:40.46\00:17:42.56 That was my question. 00:17:42.59\00:17:43.93 How do I know I have a presupposition? 00:17:43.96\00:17:45.46 Because it's easy to say, 00:17:45.49\00:17:46.83 well, this person leans to the right 00:17:46.90\00:17:48.20 and this person leans to the left, 00:17:48.23\00:17:49.60 but I'm balanced. 00:17:49.63\00:17:51.33 So how do I even know if I have a presupposition 00:17:51.37\00:17:54.27 that I'm holding on to? 00:17:54.30\00:17:56.24 I've never met a person that's imbalanced 00:17:56.27\00:17:58.67 or thinks that they're imbalanced. 00:17:58.71\00:18:00.11 Or thinks that they are imbalanced. 00:18:00.14\00:18:01.48 Everybody thinks they are balanced. 00:18:01.51\00:18:04.41 And here's the thing 00:18:04.45\00:18:06.01 is that all of us will push in our study today. 00:18:06.05\00:18:09.78 All of us have ideas in our head 00:18:09.82\00:18:13.59 that God is calling us to surrender. 00:18:13.62\00:18:17.49 Oh, wow. All of us, all of us. 00:18:17.56\00:18:20.06 So I'm not exempt from tonight's study. 00:18:20.13\00:18:21.86 None of us have, have, can come to the place 00:18:21.90\00:18:27.27 where we say all the ideas in my head 00:18:27.34\00:18:31.34 are as pure as God is on His throne right now. 00:18:31.37\00:18:37.45 And I don't have any area in my mind 00:18:37.48\00:18:39.88 that I need to surrender. 00:18:39.91\00:18:41.42 And the beauty of it is 00:18:41.45\00:18:43.69 that in our study of Scripture, 00:18:43.72\00:18:47.09 even for the converted and sanctified person, 00:18:47.16\00:18:50.06 we always go back to the text 00:18:50.13\00:18:52.06 and we read and the Holy Spirit says, 00:18:52.09\00:18:55.03 hey, there's an idea in there 00:18:55.06\00:18:57.97 that you got from society that I'm calling you to let go. 00:18:58.00\00:19:02.50 Oh, wow. 00:19:02.54\00:19:04.64 And look, sanctification is the work of a lifetime. 00:19:04.67\00:19:06.84 Sure is. 00:19:06.91\00:19:08.41 When we typically think of sanctification 00:19:08.44\00:19:10.18 in terms of our addictions and character and granted, 00:19:10.21\00:19:12.85 that's so true, 00:19:12.88\00:19:14.25 but the Bible points out 00:19:14.28\00:19:15.88 that sanctification also involves 00:19:15.92\00:19:18.35 what's in here in terms of our ideas. 00:19:18.39\00:19:21.39 And that's why the Bible says, 00:19:21.42\00:19:22.86 bringing into captivity every thought 00:19:22.89\00:19:25.29 to the obedience of Christ. 00:19:25.33\00:19:27.23 In other words, the sanctification of ideas 00:19:27.23\00:19:30.67 is a process that goes into your entire lifetime. 00:19:30.70\00:19:35.17 Wow. It's never done. 00:19:35.20\00:19:37.51 You don't say, oh, I finally arrived. 00:19:37.54\00:19:39.07 I had become balanced and yes, perfect. 00:19:39.11\00:19:40.88 Yeah, yeah. That's dangerous. 00:19:40.91\00:19:43.11 Purely objective. Yeah, yeah. 00:19:43.14\00:19:44.95 That's actually a dangerous place to be. 00:19:44.98\00:19:46.72 Yes, it is. 00:19:46.75\00:19:48.08 And so you can be in a humble position 00:19:48.12\00:19:49.88 standing on the platform of truth, 00:19:49.92\00:19:52.02 but in a position of saying, Lord, sanctify my ideas 00:19:52.05\00:19:56.49 through a continual process of surrender. 00:19:56.52\00:19:59.03 So the sanctification of ideas is a never ending process. 00:19:59.06\00:20:02.66 You're going to walk us through this tonight. 00:20:02.70\00:20:04.07 Yeah. Yeah, yeah. 00:20:04.13\00:20:06.43 Shall we pray? Yes, absolutely. 00:20:06.47\00:20:08.60 Absolutely. 00:20:08.64\00:20:10.17 Father in heaven, Lord, tonight, 00:20:10.21\00:20:12.51 we ask for the Holy Spirit, 00:20:12.54\00:20:14.98 the great teacher to guide our thoughts. 00:20:15.01\00:20:18.15 We've just acknowledged our weakness. 00:20:18.18\00:20:20.38 We are fallen. We are frail. 00:20:20.42\00:20:23.35 We are need of the Holy Spirit. 00:20:23.39\00:20:25.49 And so we ask for the Holy Spirit 00:20:25.52\00:20:27.12 to inspire our study, 00:20:27.16\00:20:30.69 be with all those that are joining us tonight, 00:20:30.73\00:20:32.83 you know, where they're at, 00:20:32.86\00:20:34.20 you know, the struggles and the heartaches 00:20:34.23\00:20:35.86 and the burdens that they bear, 00:20:35.90\00:20:38.03 may You minister to them tonight. 00:20:38.07\00:20:40.37 And as we open the Word of God, 00:20:40.40\00:20:42.67 may You inspire, may You instruct, 00:20:42.70\00:20:46.84 may You lead us by Your grace 00:20:46.91\00:20:49.21 as we go through this topic of surrendering every thought 00:20:49.24\00:20:53.35 to the obedience of Christ, 00:20:53.38\00:20:54.78 for we ask these things in the precious name of Jesus. 00:20:54.82\00:20:57.79 Amen. Amen. 00:20:57.82\00:20:59.62 Wow, powerful. Amen. 00:20:59.65\00:21:03.43 Well, let's go to our first text here. 00:21:03.46\00:21:07.30 I have it here on our study guide. 00:21:07.40\00:21:09.20 And when we, when we look through this idea 00:21:09.23\00:21:12.37 of surrendering our ideas, 00:21:12.40\00:21:15.04 the foundational starting point, 00:21:15.07\00:21:19.54 even before we can begin a discussion 00:21:19.57\00:21:22.61 about sanctifying our ideas 00:21:22.64\00:21:25.31 is that the Bible brings out that ground zero 00:21:25.35\00:21:30.15 is this concept of conversion. 00:21:30.19\00:21:32.99 Spiritual things are spiritually discerned. 00:21:33.02\00:21:34.62 That's right. 00:21:34.66\00:21:35.99 And which is ultimately surrender. 00:21:36.02\00:21:38.16 Surrendering of our heart to Jesus is the ground 00:21:38.19\00:21:42.43 from which surrendering our ideas comes from. 00:21:42.46\00:21:45.80 So we can't even talk about surrendering our ideas 00:21:45.83\00:21:49.84 if we don't talk about conversion 00:21:49.87\00:21:52.31 and giving our heart to the Lord, Jesus Christ. 00:21:52.34\00:21:54.74 And this is so essential. 00:21:54.78\00:21:57.01 This is from 1 Corinthians 2:14, 00:21:57.08\00:22:00.12 "But the natural man receiveth not the things 00:22:00.15\00:22:02.65 of the Spirit of God: 00:22:02.68\00:22:04.29 but they are foolishness to him: 00:22:04.32\00:22:06.52 neither can he know them, 00:22:06.55\00:22:08.22 because they are spiritually discerned." 00:22:08.26\00:22:10.66 And so, typically when we think of conversion, 00:22:10.73\00:22:13.33 we think about conversion of our hearts. 00:22:13.40\00:22:14.93 That's right. Yes. 00:22:14.96\00:22:16.63 But there is also illumination that takes place 00:22:16.67\00:22:20.34 in how we perceive spiritual things. 00:22:20.40\00:22:24.44 So when we look about the changed life, 00:22:24.47\00:22:27.58 we cannot separate the changed life 00:22:27.61\00:22:30.41 from the changed perception of reality. 00:22:30.45\00:22:35.38 So if you are converted, 00:22:35.42\00:22:37.29 you're going to see things differently. 00:22:37.35\00:22:39.55 You're going to recognize things differently. 00:22:39.59\00:22:42.62 You're going to view reality differently. 00:22:42.66\00:22:45.09 So that's, that's ground zero. 00:22:45.13\00:22:46.86 And when you look at the conversion of Paul, 00:22:46.90\00:22:49.90 or I should say Saul of Tarsus to Paul the Apostle, 00:22:49.93\00:22:54.47 it was not only a conversion of life 00:22:54.50\00:22:59.01 in terms of his heart. 00:22:59.04\00:23:01.51 This is talking about a traumatic reversal 00:23:01.54\00:23:05.88 in how he viewed Jesus Christ. 00:23:05.91\00:23:08.28 You're talking about an all or nothing guy. 00:23:08.32\00:23:10.52 This guy is out to kill every Christian. 00:23:10.59\00:23:13.96 The Bible says, he's dragging them 00:23:13.99\00:23:15.32 out of homes and placing them in prison. 00:23:15.36\00:23:17.86 And he's on to the road to Damascus. 00:23:17.89\00:23:19.33 And he's a member of the Sanhedrin. 00:23:19.36\00:23:21.00 He's killing Christians. 00:23:21.03\00:23:22.70 He sees Jesus. He meets Jesus. 00:23:22.73\00:23:25.07 And in just a few verses, 00:23:25.10\00:23:27.10 he goes from killing Christians to being a Christian, 00:23:27.14\00:23:30.77 to preaching Jesus. 00:23:30.81\00:23:32.54 So you're talking about a dramatic reversal. 00:23:32.57\00:23:36.24 And in one of my favorite books, 00:23:36.28\00:23:37.61 Acts of the Apostles, 00:23:37.65\00:23:39.71 the author brings out this idea 00:23:39.75\00:23:42.78 that on the road to Damascus when he saw Jesus 00:23:42.82\00:23:46.39 that through his mind flashed 00:23:46.42\00:23:49.69 the prophetic record of Scripture, 00:23:49.72\00:23:51.53 and he put them all together 00:23:51.56\00:23:53.80 and suddenly he was making sense 00:23:53.86\00:23:56.70 of all those prophecies that were in his head. 00:23:56.73\00:23:59.60 And what you're noticing with Paul 00:23:59.63\00:24:02.27 is that suddenly those texts in his head 00:24:02.30\00:24:07.01 that were not a part of his interpretive lens 00:24:07.08\00:24:13.92 were really replaced by or were really in there, 00:24:13.95\00:24:18.42 the interpretive lens up to that point 00:24:18.45\00:24:20.16 had been tradition, 00:24:20.19\00:24:21.52 had been the first century presuppositional framework, 00:24:21.56\00:24:25.06 but the data was in there. 00:24:25.09\00:24:26.83 They just weren't operating 00:24:26.90\00:24:28.66 in terms of 00:24:28.70\00:24:30.03 a macro hermeneutical perspective 00:24:30.07\00:24:32.33 in terms of the interpretive lens. 00:24:32.37\00:24:34.14 And this is important for us to recognize as Christians. 00:24:34.20\00:24:37.74 You can have texts in your mind, 00:24:37.77\00:24:41.14 but if it's not operating as the lens 00:24:41.18\00:24:43.51 through which you view reality, 00:24:43.55\00:24:46.68 you're going to come to a different conclusion. 00:24:46.72\00:24:48.82 In other words, we can be a Christian all our lives 00:24:48.85\00:24:51.12 and have data in our mind from the text. 00:24:51.15\00:24:54.06 But if we have the media, if we have society, 00:24:54.12\00:24:57.19 if we have culture, 00:24:57.23\00:24:58.56 that's going to become our worldview 00:24:58.59\00:25:00.13 for interpretation, 00:25:00.16\00:25:01.73 then this data is not functioning 00:25:01.76\00:25:04.07 in the way that it should be. 00:25:04.10\00:25:05.63 And that's the issue with Saul of Tarsus 00:25:05.67\00:25:08.10 who later became Paul. 00:25:08.14\00:25:09.47 So I'm thinking of the Ten Commandments, right? 00:25:09.50\00:25:12.04 Many denominations read the Ten Commandments, 00:25:12.07\00:25:13.78 Exodus 20, fourth commandment 00:25:13.81\00:25:15.61 being the seventh day Sabbath, right? 00:25:15.64\00:25:17.45 And then, okay, don't think anything of it, right? 00:25:17.48\00:25:19.91 Still go to church on Sunday, thinking as Sabbath. 00:25:19.95\00:25:22.85 But that's what culture, family tradition. 00:25:22.88\00:25:25.39 They've got the text in their mind tradition, 00:25:25.42\00:25:27.66 but yeah, the viewing aspect 00:25:27.69\00:25:29.62 that you're talking about, right? 00:25:29.66\00:25:30.99 That would be an example. Absolutely. 00:25:31.03\00:25:32.53 I mean, how many people know the Ten Commandments? 00:25:32.56\00:25:34.60 Everybody, it's plastered everywhere, 00:25:34.63\00:25:36.53 but you read many people, 00:25:36.56\00:25:37.90 99% of the people read the fourth commandment 00:25:37.93\00:25:41.27 and they just go right over it. 00:25:41.30\00:25:42.64 Why? 00:25:42.67\00:25:44.01 Because tradition has become 00:25:44.07\00:25:45.41 the macro hermeneutical framework 00:25:45.44\00:25:47.34 for interpreting that text. 00:25:47.38\00:25:49.54 And rather than letting that text challenge 00:25:49.58\00:25:54.08 the idea that's framing what that text is. 00:25:54.12\00:25:58.72 So, presuppositions are powerful, are powerful. 00:25:58.75\00:26:03.66 So, Saul of Tarsus, 00:26:03.69\00:26:05.46 his conversion experience 00:26:05.49\00:26:07.93 was not only a reversal of the heart 00:26:07.96\00:26:12.37 and a transformation. 00:26:12.40\00:26:13.87 It was also a dramatic ideological reversal 00:26:13.94\00:26:17.74 in which he had to let go 00:26:17.77\00:26:19.54 of these precious ideals in his mind 00:26:19.57\00:26:23.95 that he had been holding onto 00:26:23.98\00:26:25.48 and enacting out by killing Christians. 00:26:25.51\00:26:27.72 He's got to come to the conclusion of like, 00:26:27.75\00:26:29.58 who are you? 00:26:29.62\00:26:30.99 Remember when Jesus appeared, who are you? 00:26:31.02\00:26:32.69 And he says, "I am Jesus, whom you are persecuting." 00:26:32.72\00:26:35.96 And then he's like, huh, I'm wrong. 00:26:35.99\00:26:39.76 Yeah. 00:26:39.79\00:26:41.10 In other words, these ideas have been ideals 00:26:41.13\00:26:44.47 and suddenly he comes to the conviction 00:26:44.50\00:26:48.14 that he's wrong. 00:26:48.17\00:26:49.64 And here's the moment that we all face at some point 00:26:49.67\00:26:53.98 on a macro or micro level, bigger, small. 00:26:54.04\00:26:57.61 What do we do when we come in contact 00:26:57.65\00:27:01.02 with the Word 00:27:01.05\00:27:02.38 and its overwhelming evidence 00:27:02.42\00:27:05.32 that challenges our most precious ideas 00:27:05.35\00:27:08.92 and says, David, 00:27:08.96\00:27:11.23 those ideas are wrong and they're ideals 00:27:11.26\00:27:14.63 and you need to let them go? 00:27:14.66\00:27:16.77 Whoo, I mean, I mean like that's, 00:27:16.80\00:27:18.70 that's where Saul of Tarsus was, 00:27:18.73\00:27:20.14 because look, this is not just talking about 00:27:20.17\00:27:21.97 an ideological change. 00:27:22.00\00:27:23.34 This changes everything. Of course. 00:27:23.41\00:27:24.74 He loses his position on the Sanhedrin, 00:27:24.77\00:27:26.71 you know, what are people 00:27:26.78\00:27:28.11 going to think of him, you know? 00:27:28.14\00:27:29.48 And you know, all of these social dynamics. 00:27:29.51\00:27:30.95 That's the pride. 00:27:30.98\00:27:32.31 I mean, it's gotta be there too, right? 00:27:32.35\00:27:33.68 I'm wrong. Yeah. 00:27:33.72\00:27:35.05 I'm wrong here. 00:27:35.08\00:27:36.42 Like, you mentioned on the Sanhedrin, 00:27:36.45\00:27:37.79 I mean an important role he is taking it 00:27:37.82\00:27:39.15 and to make that type of reversal. 00:27:39.19\00:27:40.52 Yeah. 00:27:40.56\00:27:41.89 You would think pride would be just right there. 00:27:41.92\00:27:43.26 No, no, not at all. 00:27:43.29\00:27:44.63 I'm not going to do that. Yeah. 00:27:44.66\00:27:45.99 You can imagine. That's the pressure version. 00:27:46.03\00:27:47.36 Yeah. 00:27:47.40\00:27:48.70 You can imagine the pressure to say, you know what? 00:27:48.73\00:27:50.07 I don't care what I saw on the road to Damascus, 00:27:50.10\00:27:51.43 like I'm not going to believe it. 00:27:51.47\00:27:52.80 My position, that's better. Absolutely. 00:27:52.83\00:27:54.40 To reason in there. 00:27:54.44\00:27:56.27 And here's the thing. 00:27:56.30\00:27:57.81 What happens to the person that persistently says, 00:27:57.84\00:28:02.64 I'm going to hold on to this idea, 00:28:02.68\00:28:05.58 no matter how much this is telling me, 00:28:05.61\00:28:09.32 I need to let it go. 00:28:09.35\00:28:10.72 What would have happened to Saul of Tarsus if he said, 00:28:10.75\00:28:13.69 I don't care how many texts 00:28:13.72\00:28:15.29 my mind is bringing to the conviction? 00:28:15.32\00:28:17.36 I don't mean to care 00:28:17.39\00:28:18.76 how legitimate this vision of Jesus is. 00:28:18.79\00:28:21.83 I'm going to hold on to my idea from culture 00:28:21.86\00:28:24.60 rather than surrender, 00:28:24.63\00:28:25.97 submit and surrender to the Christ 00:28:26.00\00:28:28.10 and to Scripture. 00:28:28.14\00:28:30.31 Book of Acts would be very different, 00:28:30.34\00:28:32.41 you know, the early Christian Church 00:28:32.44\00:28:34.01 would be very different, 00:28:34.08\00:28:35.41 the gospel going to the Gentiles. 00:28:35.44\00:28:37.05 Absolutely. Yeah. Absolutely. 00:28:37.08\00:28:39.18 And so we have the majority of the New Testament today 00:28:39.21\00:28:41.92 because one man stood up and said, 00:28:41.95\00:28:44.79 look, I'm going to let this ideal go. 00:28:44.82\00:28:47.46 Yep. I was wrong. 00:28:47.49\00:28:48.82 I was wrong. Wow. 00:28:48.86\00:28:50.23 Because of the text, because of the text 00:28:50.26\00:28:52.96 and this is where we're at. 00:28:52.99\00:28:54.63 And look, it's easy to stand in the 21st century 00:28:54.66\00:28:58.00 and look at the Bible, say, 00:28:58.03\00:28:59.37 "Oh, look at those idolatry of ideas they had. 00:28:59.40\00:29:01.70 Oh, there's prehistoric, pre-scientific people. 00:29:01.74\00:29:05.47 We don't have idolatry of ideas today. 00:29:05.51\00:29:08.98 Let's not be so naive. Let's not be so naive. 00:29:09.01\00:29:12.55 Could it be possible that today from the media, 00:29:12.58\00:29:16.65 from what we're reading, 00:29:16.72\00:29:18.05 from what we're listening to from our family, 00:29:18.09\00:29:19.62 from our culture, 00:29:19.65\00:29:20.99 we have ideas that are embedded in our brain 00:29:21.02\00:29:23.56 that are just as much ideals that society is calling us to, 00:29:23.59\00:29:29.00 to hold on to. 00:29:29.03\00:29:30.67 And we'd rather reinterpret the text 00:29:30.70\00:29:34.30 and surrender the idea to Lord Jesus. 00:29:34.34\00:29:37.41 So when they question I'm gonna say, 00:29:37.44\00:29:38.77 yes, it's very much alive and well. 00:29:38.81\00:29:40.58 I know even in my own life, 00:29:40.61\00:29:42.21 you know, 'cause you know, we tend to hang on to things 00:29:42.24\00:29:44.05 and yeah, you're absolutely right. 00:29:44.08\00:29:45.41 Yes. 00:29:45.45\00:29:46.82 So it's very pertinent, relative relevant 00:29:46.85\00:29:49.48 to right we're dealing with right now. 00:29:49.52\00:29:50.89 Absolutely. 00:29:50.92\00:29:52.82 So I want to read this from the book, 00:29:52.85\00:29:54.32 Acts of the Apostles page 125, 126, 00:29:54.36\00:29:57.66 "The foundation of Paul's faith 00:29:57.69\00:30:00.30 was the sure word of prophecy. 00:30:00.33\00:30:02.63 Here in the solitude of the desert in Arabia, 00:30:02.66\00:30:05.63 he emptied his mind, 00:30:05.67\00:30:07.64 his soul of the prejudices and traditions, 00:30:07.67\00:30:10.94 this is presuppositions, 00:30:10.97\00:30:12.54 that hitherto shaped his life 00:30:12.57\00:30:14.94 and received instruction from the source of truth." 00:30:14.98\00:30:19.15 So here the Bible says in the Book of Galatians 00:30:19.18\00:30:21.08 that he spent three years in Arabia 00:30:21.12\00:30:23.18 and there's something to be said about that. 00:30:23.22\00:30:24.95 Because many times, 00:30:24.99\00:30:26.39 God prepares men 00:30:26.42\00:30:28.96 by placing them in the wilderness. 00:30:28.99\00:30:32.46 You look at David, 00:30:32.49\00:30:34.23 he calls him to be king and says, 00:30:34.30\00:30:35.86 go back to being shepherd. 00:30:35.90\00:30:37.50 You look at Moses 40 years in the wilderness. 00:30:37.53\00:30:40.37 I think here Paul. John the Baptist. 00:30:40.40\00:30:42.04 John the Baptist, John the Baptist, 00:30:42.07\00:30:44.04 and here Paul, you look in the Book of Acts, 00:30:44.07\00:30:47.11 you see his conversion, 00:30:47.14\00:30:48.48 then you don't see him for a while. 00:30:48.51\00:30:50.01 Well, he was in Arabia for three years. 00:30:50.08\00:30:52.11 And here Acts of the Apostles indicates 00:30:52.15\00:30:54.32 that during that time 00:30:54.35\00:30:56.32 he intentionally went through a process 00:30:56.35\00:30:59.75 of surrendering prejudices and traditions. 00:30:59.79\00:31:04.26 What are those? Presuppositions. 00:31:04.33\00:31:06.43 You know, all those ideas. 00:31:06.46\00:31:07.76 He's like, "Oh, that's unbiblical, 00:31:07.83\00:31:09.20 that's unbiblical, that's unbiblical. 00:31:09.23\00:31:10.73 I need to let that go." 00:31:10.77\00:31:12.10 So he went through this intentional process 00:31:12.13\00:31:13.90 and the person that emerges on the other side 00:31:13.94\00:31:16.24 of that in the Book of Acts is Paul the Apostle. 00:31:16.27\00:31:19.37 This is intense study that he was going through. 00:31:19.41\00:31:21.71 You know, it's interesting that God did 00:31:21.74\00:31:23.08 that such dramatic, right? 00:31:23.11\00:31:24.45 Boom. Right? 00:31:24.48\00:31:25.81 Who are your persecuting? 00:31:25.85\00:31:27.18 You're persecuting Jesus Christ. 00:31:27.22\00:31:28.55 That was dramatic, right? 00:31:28.58\00:31:29.92 That's dramatic. Yeah. 00:31:29.95\00:31:31.29 But then God allowed him 00:31:31.32\00:31:32.65 because he could have given him everything, 00:31:32.69\00:31:34.02 but he allowed him to go through that experience 00:31:34.06\00:31:35.39 to study in depth search of the Word of God 00:31:35.42\00:31:37.09 for three years. 00:31:37.13\00:31:38.46 Three years. That's powerful. 00:31:38.49\00:31:39.83 And it's where God says, look, 00:31:39.86\00:31:41.90 I want to put the pause button 00:31:41.93\00:31:44.10 and have you engage the Word of God, 00:31:44.13\00:31:47.37 so that you can have a solid foundation. 00:31:47.40\00:31:49.20 And when you look in the Book of Acts, 00:31:49.24\00:31:51.21 the apostle that got it 00:31:51.24\00:31:55.04 in terms of emptying his mind of the presuppositions 00:31:55.08\00:31:57.38 more than any other apostle was the Apostle Paul, 00:31:57.41\00:32:00.22 was the Apostle Paul. 00:32:00.25\00:32:01.58 And we'll go through that study as we continue today. 00:32:01.62\00:32:04.52 I had a question, I was just thinking 00:32:04.55\00:32:05.99 of the disciples on the road to Emmaus, 00:32:06.02\00:32:08.29 and they had presuppositions, right? 00:32:08.32\00:32:09.82 And Jesus Himself began with Moses 00:32:09.86\00:32:12.69 and the prophets and unfolded the scriptures 00:32:12.73\00:32:14.50 that they already knew, 00:32:14.56\00:32:16.13 but it was like their minds 00:32:16.16\00:32:18.70 were open to see it in a new way. 00:32:18.73\00:32:20.94 So what I was wondering, 00:32:20.97\00:32:22.30 because of course you could say, 00:32:22.34\00:32:23.67 well, that was Jesus Himself teaching them. 00:32:23.71\00:32:25.17 In this sense, God Himself taught Paul 00:32:25.21\00:32:28.41 in the wilderness there in Arabia. 00:32:28.44\00:32:30.11 Do you think when we... 00:32:30.15\00:32:32.95 When the Holy Spirit impresses on our minds 00:32:32.98\00:32:35.02 these presuppositions and we set them aside, 00:32:35.05\00:32:38.12 do you think that's a individual work 00:32:38.15\00:32:40.22 that's just between us and God 00:32:40.26\00:32:42.32 or do other people have input 00:32:42.36\00:32:44.53 sometimes into that process 00:32:44.56\00:32:46.19 of identifying these presuppositions 00:32:46.23\00:32:48.50 and helping us rid ourselves of that? 00:32:48.53\00:32:51.27 Yeah. That's a fascinating question. 00:32:51.30\00:32:52.87 Because when you see in the Book of Galatians, 00:32:52.90\00:32:54.70 he says he spent three years in Arabia, 00:32:54.74\00:32:56.44 but then after that he went and visited Peter. 00:32:56.47\00:33:00.48 So it tells you that theological reflection 00:33:00.51\00:33:03.08 takes place in solitude and community. 00:33:03.11\00:33:07.25 There's a tension between the two. 00:33:07.32\00:33:09.48 So, that you can't say, look, 00:33:09.52\00:33:11.32 I've gone through this process by myself. 00:33:11.35\00:33:12.89 I have no accountability to the body. 00:33:12.92\00:33:15.06 So the individual theological reflection, 00:33:15.09\00:33:17.76 it can enhance the vision of the body 00:33:17.79\00:33:21.50 like Paul did, but at the same time, 00:33:21.53\00:33:23.33 there's accountability by the body 00:33:23.37\00:33:26.13 in terms of continuity and corroboration. 00:33:26.17\00:33:30.01 So, absolutely. 00:33:30.07\00:33:31.47 I think that God works through the church 00:33:31.51\00:33:34.98 through the Holy Spirit. 00:33:35.01\00:33:36.64 And it is through this collective process 00:33:36.71\00:33:40.58 that is also individual. 00:33:40.62\00:33:43.02 And you can see that in the life of Paul 00:33:43.05\00:33:45.59 in terms of his own transformation, 00:33:45.62\00:33:47.86 but you see immediately after the road 00:33:47.89\00:33:50.13 to Damascus experience, what does God do? 00:33:50.19\00:33:53.76 Puts him in contact with Ananias, the church. 00:33:53.80\00:33:57.67 So, it's not like, hey, you're on your own, 00:33:57.70\00:33:59.40 you know, lone ranger, just go for it. 00:33:59.43\00:34:02.20 But you also see that personal 00:34:02.24\00:34:05.07 and that collective 00:34:05.11\00:34:06.68 in terms of how this process takes place. 00:34:06.71\00:34:09.84 And so absolutely, 00:34:09.88\00:34:11.21 I think that through the community of faith, 00:34:11.25\00:34:13.11 through the church, 00:34:13.15\00:34:14.58 we are challenged in terms of ideas and look, 00:34:14.62\00:34:19.79 every, every sermon, 00:34:19.82\00:34:21.66 every sermon is an opportunity for the Holy Spirit 00:34:21.69\00:34:23.56 to work and say, 00:34:23.63\00:34:24.96 you know, David, 00:34:24.99\00:34:26.33 there's some ideas in there 00:34:26.36\00:34:27.66 that that you need to rethink and reevaluate 00:34:27.73\00:34:32.80 every Bible study in a small group and so forth. 00:34:32.83\00:34:35.04 There's an opportunity for us to say, 00:34:35.07\00:34:36.47 Lord, I surrender my ideas to you. 00:34:36.50\00:34:39.61 Yes. 00:34:39.64\00:34:40.98 I was thinking of the early Christian Church leaders too, 00:34:41.01\00:34:42.81 because here's Paul who was after them 00:34:42.84\00:34:44.21 and killing them. 00:34:44.25\00:34:45.58 And now they've also got ideas about him, right? 00:34:45.61\00:34:47.38 And then here he comes to them for help. 00:34:47.42\00:34:48.75 Yeah. 00:34:48.78\00:34:50.12 They've got also then changed their ideas of Paul, 00:34:50.15\00:34:51.82 like, okay, God is doing a work in him, right? 00:34:51.85\00:34:54.86 Yeah, absolutely, in the beginning. 00:34:54.89\00:34:56.89 Yeah. Yeah. They were scared. 00:34:56.93\00:34:58.33 You're right. 00:34:58.36\00:34:59.69 I would be scared too. Yeah, yeah. 00:34:59.73\00:35:01.10 I mean, this guy's like, you know, the Gestapo, 00:35:01.13\00:35:03.47 they're going out to kill you, 00:35:03.50\00:35:04.83 and then suddenly he's preaching 00:35:04.87\00:35:06.30 and you're kinda like, "Whoa, what's going on." 00:35:06.33\00:35:07.97 So this was, this was a dramatic shift 00:35:08.00\00:35:10.51 in the Christian Church and the Christian community 00:35:10.54\00:35:13.01 and involved an individual that did like, 00:35:13.04\00:35:16.11 he's going, you know, he's all or nothing. 00:35:16.14\00:35:17.95 He's going killing Christians. 00:35:17.98\00:35:20.12 And then he's then converting others 00:35:20.15\00:35:22.52 to Christianity, dramatic. 00:35:22.55\00:35:24.35 The church then has to the next step, 00:35:24.39\00:35:25.72 them saying, okay, God is doing something in his life. 00:35:25.75\00:35:28.09 Yeah. So, he challenged them. 00:35:28.12\00:35:30.96 And then he comes around to challenge them 00:35:30.99\00:35:33.73 on their own presuppositional framework. 00:35:33.80\00:35:35.20 Isn't that amazing actually? Yeah. 00:35:35.23\00:35:37.53 Praise the Lord for the Holy Spirit. 00:35:37.57\00:35:38.90 Yeah. The Holy Spirit works. 00:35:38.93\00:35:40.27 And the beauty of this 00:35:40.30\00:35:41.64 is when I come in contact with individuals 00:35:41.67\00:35:44.94 that are like just never in my human estimation, 00:35:44.97\00:35:49.91 going to give up their ideas, you know, just entrenched. 00:35:49.94\00:35:53.88 Paul gives me hope, right? 00:35:53.92\00:35:55.92 Is that, look, you can never write anyone off. 00:35:55.95\00:35:57.85 And in the first century, 00:35:57.89\00:35:59.22 if there was someone that you could write off 00:35:59.25\00:36:01.36 and say like, look, this person 00:36:01.39\00:36:03.46 is never going to get it, 00:36:03.49\00:36:05.16 never gonna join Christianity. 00:36:05.19\00:36:07.23 It would have been Paul, 00:36:07.23\00:36:08.56 like he would have been number one, 00:36:08.60\00:36:09.93 say like, look, that brother is hopeless. 00:36:09.96\00:36:11.43 I mean, he's killing us. All right. 00:36:11.47\00:36:13.17 And, but it gives us hope. It gives us hope. 00:36:13.20\00:36:15.97 So to those of us 00:36:16.00\00:36:18.61 that have experienced persecution, 00:36:18.64\00:36:21.88 just recognize that the proponent 00:36:21.91\00:36:24.78 of persecution, 00:36:24.81\00:36:26.15 the person that's at the point of that 00:36:26.18\00:36:28.92 could be a Paul, could be a Paul. 00:36:28.95\00:36:31.25 And just to, by the grace of God exhibit 00:36:31.29\00:36:33.36 a Christ-like character 00:36:33.39\00:36:34.96 and that anyone can have a theological reversal 00:36:34.99\00:36:38.19 if Paul can, if Paul can. 00:36:38.23\00:36:39.56 Yep. 00:36:39.59\00:36:40.93 And so this is a beautiful thing. 00:36:40.96\00:36:42.93 So conversion is essential. 00:36:42.96\00:36:46.60 Conversion involves the surrender of our lives 00:36:46.63\00:36:50.17 to Jesus as Savior and Lord, 00:36:50.21\00:36:53.01 and lordship involves ideological ideals as well. 00:36:53.04\00:36:58.08 So you say, Lord, I surrender my life 00:36:58.11\00:37:00.75 and my ideas, whoo, to your lordship. 00:37:00.78\00:37:04.39 And that's what Paul did. 00:37:04.42\00:37:06.45 This was a surrender of ideas. 00:37:06.49\00:37:08.66 There's another thing that involves 00:37:08.69\00:37:11.06 the ground for continued spiritual illumination, 00:37:11.09\00:37:17.27 conversion. 00:37:17.30\00:37:18.90 And then when you look at the sanctuary model, 00:37:18.93\00:37:21.77 there's the courtyard 00:37:21.80\00:37:23.71 where we experienced conversion. 00:37:23.74\00:37:25.14 You come in the Lamb of God 00:37:25.17\00:37:27.81 and you surrender, you're baptized. 00:37:27.84\00:37:30.35 Justification. Yeah, justification. 00:37:30.38\00:37:32.28 And that's what Paul has experienced here. 00:37:32.31\00:37:34.02 And you see the surrender of life, 00:37:34.05\00:37:36.02 the surrender of ideas, 00:37:36.05\00:37:37.39 but then you go into the Holy Place experience. 00:37:37.42\00:37:40.26 And the unique thing about the Holy Place experience 00:37:40.29\00:37:43.19 is that the articles of furniture 00:37:43.22\00:37:47.00 are situated in a way 00:37:47.03\00:37:48.96 that there is not a clear numerical order. 00:37:49.00\00:37:53.44 In other words, the structure of the sanctuary 00:37:53.50\00:37:55.24 you walk in 00:37:55.27\00:37:56.60 and it's clear what's number one, right? 00:37:56.67\00:37:58.41 The altar, okay, then the laver, 00:37:58.44\00:38:00.81 then the next compartment is the Holy Place. 00:38:00.84\00:38:03.08 But then you go in there and they're not in align. 00:38:03.11\00:38:06.18 True. They're in... 00:38:06.21\00:38:07.55 That's right. They're in a configuration. 00:38:07.58\00:38:12.05 You're kind of like, okay, which one do I do first? 00:38:12.09\00:38:15.32 Yeah. Yeah. 00:38:15.36\00:38:16.69 It's kind of like, okay, 00:38:16.76\00:38:18.09 there's not a clear, implied order. 00:38:18.13\00:38:21.20 And I believe that's intentional. 00:38:21.23\00:38:22.86 I believe that's intentional. 00:38:22.90\00:38:24.40 All of those articles of furniture 00:38:24.43\00:38:27.14 have the Hebrew word tamid that is associated with them, 00:38:27.17\00:38:30.64 which involves continually and daily. 00:38:30.71\00:38:34.71 And so the lampstand was to be 00:38:34.74\00:38:36.85 continually burning daily burning, 00:38:36.88\00:38:39.01 the bread was to be continually 00:38:39.05\00:38:41.22 before the presence of God. 00:38:41.25\00:38:42.92 And then the altar of incense 00:38:42.95\00:38:44.55 was to be continually giving off 00:38:44.59\00:38:46.79 the incense. 00:38:46.86\00:38:48.19 And so you get in there. 00:38:48.22\00:38:49.56 And the implication is that the tamid 00:38:49.59\00:38:52.86 is that the Holy Place experience 00:38:52.89\00:38:56.06 is to be a cyclical experience. 00:38:56.10\00:38:58.67 Oh, that's good. 00:38:58.70\00:39:00.10 In other words, there to A B experience concurrently. 00:39:00.17\00:39:03.97 Wow. 00:39:04.04\00:39:05.37 At the same time continually at the same time, 00:39:05.41\00:39:09.64 you know, the courtyard experience 00:39:09.68\00:39:12.55 is very particular. 00:39:12.58\00:39:14.05 In other words, it's a point like justification, 00:39:14.08\00:39:16.35 you know, you just, it happens, 00:39:16.38\00:39:17.92 you know, and, and then you go in 00:39:17.95\00:39:19.32 through the Holy Place 00:39:19.35\00:39:20.79 and it's like this never ending cyclical experience. 00:39:20.82\00:39:25.36 Now, an interesting part of the Holy Place experience 00:39:25.39\00:39:28.86 is that the priest would come in 00:39:28.90\00:39:31.73 daily with the oil 00:39:31.77\00:39:33.84 and pour the oil into the lampstands. 00:39:33.87\00:39:38.47 The priest represents Jesus, Hebrews Chapter 8, 00:39:38.51\00:39:41.34 the oil represents the Holy Spirit. 00:39:41.38\00:39:44.05 The candlesticks represent us, the church. 00:39:44.08\00:39:46.82 And notice what's happening? 00:39:46.85\00:39:48.18 It's being poured in, 00:39:48.22\00:39:50.29 the Holy Spirit is being poured in by Jesus, 00:39:50.32\00:39:52.39 into His church, into us. 00:39:52.42\00:39:54.49 The result of that is what? 00:39:54.52\00:39:56.73 Light, there's light. So you can see. 00:39:56.76\00:39:58.83 So you can see, and there's only one source 00:39:58.86\00:40:00.93 of light in the Holy Place. 00:40:00.96\00:40:02.83 They didn't have a skylight. 00:40:02.86\00:40:04.23 The one source of light was that candlestick. 00:40:04.27\00:40:07.00 Right. The candlesticks. 00:40:07.04\00:40:08.97 And the interesting thing is, 00:40:09.00\00:40:10.61 when you go into the sanctuary 00:40:10.67\00:40:12.24 and you face the candlesticks, 00:40:12.27\00:40:13.64 and then you turn around toward the right, 00:40:13.68\00:40:15.54 you see the bread, right? 00:40:15.58\00:40:16.91 Yeah. 00:40:16.95\00:40:18.28 The only way to see the bread is with the light. 00:40:18.31\00:40:20.48 Oh, that's good. 00:40:20.52\00:40:21.85 And you only get the light from the Holy Spirit. 00:40:21.88\00:40:24.19 Yeah. Fascinating. 00:40:24.25\00:40:25.59 Fascinating. 00:40:25.62\00:40:26.96 Now, that is fascinating. 00:40:26.99\00:40:28.32 So the key to continual spiritual illumination 00:40:28.36\00:40:33.36 is the filling of the Holy Spirit 00:40:33.40\00:40:35.76 on a daily basis. 00:40:35.80\00:40:37.43 So you experience justification. 00:40:37.50\00:40:39.37 You go into the Holy Place. 00:40:39.40\00:40:40.77 To continual experience, you need light every day, 00:40:40.80\00:40:43.54 you need the illumination, 00:40:43.57\00:40:44.91 you need the fruit of the spirit. 00:40:44.94\00:40:46.27 And the way that you see the bread 00:40:46.31\00:40:49.58 is through the spirit, 00:40:49.61\00:40:50.95 the light, that light that comes out. 00:40:50.98\00:40:52.75 And so this is an important part. 00:40:52.78\00:40:54.28 So ground zero, the courtyard, 00:40:54.32\00:40:57.62 justification, surrender of our life to Jesus, 00:40:57.65\00:41:00.79 and then the continued indwelling 00:41:00.86\00:41:03.12 of the Holy Spirit inside of us, 00:41:03.16\00:41:05.76 so that we can see, 00:41:05.79\00:41:07.13 so that we can see 00:41:07.20\00:41:08.50 and understand spiritual things. 00:41:08.53\00:41:09.90 And so it's a continual process 00:41:09.93\00:41:11.90 that keeps on going after that. 00:41:11.93\00:41:14.57 Yeah, very fascinating. 00:41:14.60\00:41:15.94 And, you know, the Book of Luke was written by the same author 00:41:15.97\00:41:19.57 as the Book of Acts. 00:41:19.61\00:41:21.54 And it's interesting 00:41:21.58\00:41:23.11 because if you go to Luke Chapter 1, 00:41:23.14\00:41:25.75 you can see how being filled with the Holy Spirit 00:41:25.78\00:41:30.35 brings with it illumination. 00:41:30.39\00:41:34.59 If you go to Luke Chapter 1 00:41:34.62\00:41:36.89 and you see the description 00:41:36.93\00:41:41.00 of John the Baptist to Zacharias, 00:41:41.03\00:41:45.17 it's fascinating description. 00:41:45.20\00:41:46.53 Luke 1:15, 00:41:46.57\00:41:48.04 here's Zacharias is being given a description 00:41:48.07\00:41:51.04 of his son who is to be born of Elizabeth. 00:41:51.07\00:41:54.01 In Luke 1:15, 00:41:54.04\00:41:55.74 "For he shall be great in the sight of the Lord 00:41:55.78\00:41:58.85 and shall drink neither wine nor strong drink. 00:41:58.88\00:42:02.35 He'll be filled with the Holy Spirit, 00:42:02.38\00:42:04.95 even from his mother's womb." 00:42:04.99\00:42:06.62 So here we have a description, very unique. 00:42:06.65\00:42:10.53 And look, the Book of Luke begins with John the Baptist 00:42:10.56\00:42:14.76 being filled with the Holy Spirit. 00:42:14.83\00:42:16.43 The Book of Acts begins with the church 00:42:16.46\00:42:18.67 being filled with the Holy Spirit, 00:42:18.70\00:42:20.04 same author, same author. 00:42:20.10\00:42:21.44 So here in utero, 00:42:21.47\00:42:23.77 the Bible says that John the Baptist 00:42:23.81\00:42:26.84 is going to be filled with the Holy Spirit. 00:42:26.88\00:42:29.34 Now, I don't know exactly what that all means, 00:42:29.38\00:42:32.41 but I will tell you what the Bible describes, 00:42:32.45\00:42:35.22 what it does. 00:42:35.25\00:42:36.58 So if you go to Luke Chapter 1, 00:42:36.65\00:42:39.45 we have this story that continues on 00:42:39.49\00:42:41.86 because Mary's told that she's going to be 00:42:41.89\00:42:44.53 with child as well. 00:42:44.56\00:42:46.56 And then Mary goes and greets Elizabeth 00:42:46.59\00:42:49.63 in Luke1:40, 00:42:49.66\00:42:54.00 or I should say, verse 39. 00:42:54.07\00:42:56.47 "Now Mary arose in those days 00:42:56.50\00:42:57.91 and went into the hill country of Judah, 00:42:57.94\00:43:00.61 and entered into the house of Zacharias 00:43:00.68\00:43:03.01 and greeted Elizabeth. 00:43:03.04\00:43:04.55 And it happened, while Elizabeth heard 00:43:04.58\00:43:06.51 the greeting of Mary, 00:43:06.55\00:43:07.88 that the baby leaped in her womb, 00:43:07.92\00:43:10.59 and Elizabeth was filled with the Holy Spirit. 00:43:10.62\00:43:13.15 Then she spoke with a loud voice and said, 00:43:13.19\00:43:15.49 'Blessed are you among women, 00:43:15.52\00:43:17.89 for blessed is the fruit of your womb! 00:43:17.93\00:43:20.60 Why is it granted to me, 00:43:20.63\00:43:22.50 that the mother of my Lord should come to me?'" 00:43:22.53\00:43:25.33 So let me show you what's happening here. 00:43:25.37\00:43:28.34 Mary's just been told you're going to have a child. 00:43:28.37\00:43:30.87 And that child is going to be God. 00:43:30.91\00:43:32.97 At this time, Elizabeth is six months pregnant 00:43:33.01\00:43:35.24 with John the Baptist, 00:43:35.28\00:43:36.61 who the Bible says is filled with the Holy Spirit. 00:43:36.64\00:43:38.08 So this is the picture. 00:43:38.11\00:43:39.71 Mary comes in the house says, hi, Mary. 00:43:39.75\00:43:43.35 Elizabeth looks at Mary and says, you're pregnant. 00:43:43.39\00:43:48.62 And you're pregnant with God. 00:43:48.66\00:43:51.93 I mean, that's exactly what's happened. 00:43:51.96\00:43:53.76 I mean, you can't even tell, 00:43:53.80\00:43:55.10 I mean, she's not showing right. 00:43:55.13\00:43:56.60 You're pregnant and you're pregnant with God. 00:43:56.63\00:43:59.23 Wow. Wow. 00:43:59.27\00:44:00.67 Now, how did she know that? 00:44:00.74\00:44:03.41 Look at her description in verse 44, 00:44:03.44\00:44:05.24 "For indeed, as soon as the voice 00:44:05.27\00:44:06.88 of your greeting sounded in my years, 00:44:06.91\00:44:09.18 the babe leaped in my womb for joy." 00:44:09.21\00:44:12.18 So here's, what's happening. 00:44:12.21\00:44:13.92 In other words, in utero John the Baptist 00:44:13.95\00:44:17.09 filled with the Holy Spirit 00:44:17.12\00:44:19.55 recognized that he was in the presence of God. 00:44:19.59\00:44:24.63 Whoo! 00:44:24.66\00:44:26.80 So I don't know exactly what it means to be filled 00:44:26.83\00:44:28.50 with the Holy Spirit in utero, 00:44:28.53\00:44:29.86 but I'll show you what it does. 00:44:29.90\00:44:31.37 It gives you spiritual perception. 00:44:31.40\00:44:34.70 Oh, that's good. 00:44:34.74\00:44:36.07 That's impossible to have any other way in utero. 00:44:36.10\00:44:38.57 Yeah. 00:44:38.61\00:44:39.94 You know, you know, two mothers meet, 00:44:39.97\00:44:43.11 leaps in the womb, you know, and it's like... 00:44:43.14\00:44:45.25 You're pregnant with God. Yeah. Yeah. 00:44:45.28\00:44:46.68 And so, and then not only that, 00:44:46.72\00:44:48.68 but it says that Elizabeth was filled 00:44:48.72\00:44:50.55 with the Holy Spirit. 00:44:50.59\00:44:51.92 So Elizabeth is filled with the Holy Spirit. 00:44:51.95\00:44:54.16 John the Baptist is filled with the Holy Spirit, 00:44:54.22\00:44:56.26 the baby leaps in her womb, the baby recognizes. 00:44:56.29\00:44:58.99 And then Elizabeth being filled with the Holy Spirit 00:44:59.03\00:45:01.83 puts it all together, baby leaping. 00:45:01.86\00:45:05.17 And then the Holy Spirit reveals to her, 00:45:05.20\00:45:07.07 you're in the presence of the mother, 00:45:07.14\00:45:09.20 of the mother of, you know, 00:45:09.24\00:45:11.11 someone that's bearing God in utero 00:45:11.14\00:45:14.28 and says, look, you're pregnant, 00:45:14.31\00:45:16.31 and you're pregnant with God. 00:45:16.34\00:45:18.28 In other words, the Holy Spirit is a source of illumination. 00:45:18.31\00:45:24.09 Without the Holy Spirit, 00:45:24.12\00:45:25.45 we can't understand spiritual things. 00:45:25.49\00:45:27.72 Because look, if Mary had walked 00:45:27.76\00:45:29.86 through the streets of Judea on her way to Elizabeth, 00:45:29.89\00:45:35.66 she would look like a peasant like anybody else. 00:45:35.70\00:45:38.80 You wouldn't be able to tell she was pregnant with God. 00:45:38.83\00:45:41.44 But Elizabeth filled with the Holy Spirit was like, 00:45:41.47\00:45:44.54 you're pregnant and you're pregnant with God. 00:45:44.57\00:45:46.01 Now here's the question. 00:45:46.04\00:45:47.74 Here's the question. 00:45:47.78\00:45:49.54 When the Holy Spirit told Elizabeth 00:45:49.58\00:45:52.01 you're in the presence of the mother of God, 00:45:52.05\00:45:55.68 in other words, pregnant with God, 00:45:55.72\00:45:58.69 why didn't she just like, 00:45:58.72\00:46:01.72 you know, if I got that impression, 00:46:01.76\00:46:03.46 I'd be like, ah, no. 00:46:03.49\00:46:05.33 I mean, like, I must be hearing things 00:46:05.36\00:46:08.20 like this is crazy. 00:46:08.23\00:46:09.93 Like, why was it that immediately 00:46:09.96\00:46:12.30 and she didn't just think that the baby's moving, 00:46:12.33\00:46:14.57 you know what I'm saying? 00:46:14.60\00:46:15.94 And, but immediately she's like, 00:46:15.97\00:46:17.31 you're pregnant. 00:46:17.34\00:46:18.67 You're pregnant with God. 00:46:18.71\00:46:20.08 Why was it that she was able to accept 00:46:20.11\00:46:21.74 this revelation so quickly? 00:46:21.78\00:46:23.28 Because her husband obviously had some issues 00:46:23.35\00:46:25.11 with faith. 00:46:25.15\00:46:26.48 It's like Angel Gabriel is like, 00:46:26.51\00:46:27.88 your wife's going to have a child. 00:46:27.92\00:46:29.48 And he's like, ha-ha, you know? And then he's mute, you know? 00:46:29.52\00:46:32.62 And so, this is a woman of faith. 00:46:32.65\00:46:34.62 Why was it that she was able to say 00:46:34.66\00:46:37.16 you're pregnant and you're pregnant with God? 00:46:37.23\00:46:39.39 It was because for six months 00:46:39.43\00:46:42.83 she was carrying a miracle. 00:46:42.86\00:46:47.70 She was carrying a miracle, 00:46:47.74\00:46:49.14 every kick, every move of that baby. 00:46:49.17\00:46:51.24 I mean, she's well past menopause. 00:46:51.27\00:46:53.88 You know, she's on, you know, she's geriatric, 00:46:53.94\00:46:57.21 you know, for a veteran, you know, she's you know, 00:46:57.25\00:46:59.61 excuse the term, but you know, I mean, 00:46:59.65\00:47:01.05 she's well beyond child rearing. 00:47:01.08\00:47:03.28 Okay. And, but she's pregnant. 00:47:03.32\00:47:04.82 She's the talk of the town, she's showing. 00:47:04.85\00:47:06.45 All right. 00:47:06.49\00:47:07.82 And so when the revelation came Mary's pregnant with God, 00:47:07.86\00:47:12.43 she's like, okay, she believes it 00:47:12.46\00:47:15.56 because in order to believe the miracle, 00:47:15.60\00:47:18.43 you got to be experiencing a miracle. 00:47:18.47\00:47:22.47 So Elizabeth was experiencing a miracle? 00:47:22.50\00:47:24.44 She is experiencing the man of miracle. 00:47:24.47\00:47:26.68 So look, if you want to believe the miracle, 00:47:26.71\00:47:30.08 got to experience the miracle. 00:47:30.15\00:47:33.01 So someone is saying tonight, 00:47:33.05\00:47:34.78 I want to experience the miracle. 00:47:34.82\00:47:36.42 I want the Holy Spirit in my life 00:47:36.45\00:47:37.92 so that I can experience God and I can understand. 00:47:37.95\00:47:41.26 And these presuppositions in my mind will be taken away, 00:47:41.29\00:47:44.49 but they say, I don't know how to receive the Holy Spirit. 00:47:44.53\00:47:47.13 Absolutely. How do I get the Holy Spirit? 00:47:47.20\00:47:48.80 How to get the Holy Spirit? 00:47:48.83\00:47:50.17 Jesus says, God is more willing to give the Holy Spirit 00:47:50.23\00:47:53.00 to those that ask him, 00:47:53.03\00:47:54.37 Luke Chapter 11, same book 00:47:54.40\00:47:56.24 to those that ask him more than parents 00:47:56.27\00:47:58.27 are willing to give good gifts to their children. 00:47:58.31\00:48:00.21 In other words, the Holy Spirit is the greatest gift 00:48:00.24\00:48:01.88 that heaven longs to bestow upon men. 00:48:01.91\00:48:03.88 And he says, ask and keep on asking. 00:48:03.91\00:48:07.35 So that's ground zero. 00:48:07.38\00:48:09.42 Ask for the Holy Spirit and asking for the Holy Spirit 00:48:09.45\00:48:12.32 is one of those prayers that's always a yes prayer. 00:48:12.35\00:48:17.36 Forgiveness, always a yes prayer. 00:48:17.39\00:48:18.96 That's right? Right? 00:48:18.99\00:48:20.33 Christ like temper always a yes prayer, 00:48:20.36\00:48:23.87 you know, new car may not always be yes prayer, 00:48:23.90\00:48:27.24 you know, and we pray for these things, 00:48:27.27\00:48:28.77 Oh, I want a new house, new job, 00:48:28.80\00:48:30.71 you know, all these things that are material, 00:48:30.74\00:48:33.61 but spiritually God's like, 00:48:33.68\00:48:35.44 okay, well maybe so, maybe wait, 00:48:35.48\00:48:37.85 but look, I want to give you so much more than this. 00:48:37.88\00:48:41.05 And the Holy Spirit brings with him 00:48:41.08\00:48:42.58 all the other blessings in his train, 00:48:42.62\00:48:44.72 Christ dwells in us through the agency 00:48:44.75\00:48:46.35 of the Holy Spirit. 00:48:46.39\00:48:47.72 And when you ask for the Holy Spirit, 00:48:47.76\00:48:49.09 it's not like let me think about it. 00:48:49.12\00:48:51.59 You can know and believe 00:48:51.63\00:48:52.96 regardless of the way that you may or may not feel 00:48:52.99\00:48:55.80 that you receive the Holy Spirit 00:48:55.83\00:48:57.97 because of Jesus' promise. 00:48:58.00\00:49:00.57 And look, I'm a parent and I am sinful, 00:49:00.60\00:49:06.07 you know, in terms of falling and all those types of things. 00:49:06.11\00:49:08.91 But it's amazing when my son asks for something, 00:49:08.94\00:49:12.21 it's like sinner that I am, 00:49:12.25\00:49:15.15 I long to give him what he asks. 00:49:15.18\00:49:19.12 You know, especially if it's something that is good, 00:49:19.15\00:49:21.56 you know what I'm saying? 00:49:21.59\00:49:22.92 But he says, look, if you being evil, 00:49:22.96\00:49:24.29 know how to give good gifts to their children, 00:49:24.36\00:49:26.06 how much more your heavenly Father 00:49:26.09\00:49:28.33 give the Holy Spirit to those that ask him. 00:49:28.36\00:49:30.87 So the posture of God is like, 00:49:30.90\00:49:33.54 I want to give the Holy Spirit to you. 00:49:33.57\00:49:36.37 And He longs for our consent. 00:49:36.40\00:49:39.34 So ask. 00:49:39.37\00:49:40.71 Ask, asking is like authorization. 00:49:40.78\00:49:43.14 God is not going to barge His way into your life. 00:49:43.18\00:49:46.82 But when you give Him permission, 00:49:46.85\00:49:48.42 He's like, okay, we have authorization. 00:49:48.45\00:49:51.02 Amen. We have access. 00:49:51.05\00:49:52.39 So how do you experience the miracle? 00:49:52.42\00:49:53.76 'Cause you're talking about that. 00:49:53.79\00:49:55.12 So Elizabeth, you know, being filled 00:49:55.16\00:49:56.49 with the Holy Spirit, 00:49:56.52\00:49:57.86 but then you're talking about she's experiencing a miracle. 00:49:57.89\00:49:59.23 So how is someone practically right now 00:49:59.26\00:50:00.60 experienced a miracle? 00:50:00.63\00:50:01.93 Experiencing a miracle, 00:50:01.96\00:50:03.33 you know, the miracle is conversion 00:50:03.37\00:50:04.83 being born of the Spirit. 00:50:04.87\00:50:06.20 Okay. 00:50:06.23\00:50:07.60 And being born of the Spirit is a miracle in and of itself. 00:50:07.64\00:50:12.91 And we experienced the miracle by saying, 00:50:12.94\00:50:15.58 Lord, I'm willing to be made willing, 00:50:15.61\00:50:20.48 beauty of surrender. 00:50:20.52\00:50:21.85 You say, Lord, come into my heart, 00:50:21.88\00:50:24.92 come into my life, transform me. 00:50:24.95\00:50:27.56 And we do that on a daily basis. 00:50:27.62\00:50:29.82 We give that consent 00:50:29.86\00:50:31.33 that, that opening for God to move and He's ready. 00:50:31.36\00:50:35.00 And you have the resource of heaven 00:50:35.03\00:50:36.73 that Jesus bought at Calvary that are channeled to us. 00:50:36.80\00:50:41.20 And we can experience that conversion today. 00:50:41.24\00:50:43.54 So that's, that's where it is. 00:50:43.57\00:50:45.14 And then every day after that, 00:50:45.17\00:50:46.51 we experienced the Holy Place experience 00:50:46.54\00:50:48.28 where we're asking for the Holy Spirit, 00:50:48.31\00:50:49.64 we're in prayer and the Word of God. 00:50:49.68\00:50:51.05 And it's this never ending cycle 00:50:51.08\00:50:54.08 of continually experiencing the miracle on a daily basis. 00:50:54.15\00:50:57.42 You know, this may be a strange comment or question 00:50:57.45\00:50:58.79 to tell you right now, 00:50:58.82\00:51:00.22 because we've got another hour or something. 00:51:00.26\00:51:01.59 This first hour has gone by in a hurry. 00:51:01.62\00:51:02.96 But you know, I think 00:51:02.99\00:51:04.33 there's someone actually right now, 00:51:04.36\00:51:05.69 Pastor David, I just feel impressed 00:51:05.73\00:51:07.03 that someone right now is saying, 00:51:07.10\00:51:08.40 can I do that right now? 00:51:08.43\00:51:09.76 Can I do that right now, pastor? 00:51:09.80\00:51:11.13 Absolutely. 00:51:11.17\00:51:12.50 So would you mind just talking to your camera 00:51:12.53\00:51:13.87 right here just now, 00:51:13.90\00:51:15.24 usually we do that at the last hour, 00:51:15.27\00:51:16.60 but yeah, just talk to someone right now. 00:51:16.64\00:51:17.97 'Cause I think somebody has to hear that right now. 00:51:18.01\00:51:19.34 Can I do it now? Yes. 00:53:30.61\00:53:31.94 People are searching. Like God can do something. 00:53:31.97\00:53:33.34 Yeah. Absolutely. 00:53:33.38\00:53:34.91 So powerful. This is just powerful. 00:53:34.94\00:53:37.75 Don't feel like you're alone tonight. 00:53:37.78\00:53:39.11 I just think in, 00:53:39.15\00:53:40.48 as you were sharing that, David, 00:53:40.52\00:53:41.85 I was thinking of a woman who called me just this week 00:53:41.88\00:53:43.45 in the office and she said, 00:53:43.49\00:53:44.82 "Jill, I see your walk with God 00:53:44.85\00:53:47.82 and I want it too." 00:53:47.86\00:53:49.66 And she said, "I just want to experience Jesus. 00:53:49.69\00:53:53.06 I want to find Him for myself. 00:53:53.09\00:53:54.83 How do I do that?" 00:53:54.83\00:53:56.16 And so what Pastor David 00:53:56.20\00:53:57.53 just shared his life, transformed me. 00:53:57.57\00:54:00.67 Jesus can come in. 00:54:00.74\00:54:02.07 He will change your heart and life 00:54:02.10\00:54:04.94 and take out some of those presuppositions. 00:54:04.97\00:54:08.14 This has been an incredible first hour. 00:54:08.18\00:54:09.74 I know we're coming down to the end of the first hour. 00:54:09.78\00:54:11.98 Would you give us a recap of what we have unpacked 00:54:12.01\00:54:15.65 and uncovered this first hour? 00:54:15.68\00:54:17.89 And then we'll take a short break. 00:54:17.92\00:54:19.99 Absolutely. 00:54:20.06\00:54:21.99 You know, when we look at our ideas, 00:54:22.02\00:54:25.03 there's ideas in there that that are ideals 00:54:25.06\00:54:29.00 and God works with us where we're at. 00:54:29.03\00:54:32.27 He meets us where we're at. 00:54:32.30\00:54:33.64 And He brings us to the foot of the cross in the courtyard 00:54:33.70\00:54:37.47 where we surrender our lives to Him. 00:54:37.51\00:54:40.04 In that we also surrender our ideas to Him 00:54:40.08\00:54:43.14 and the conversion experience. 00:54:43.18\00:54:45.25 The miracle is accessible to all of us today. 00:54:45.28\00:54:49.12 And we move through the courtyard 00:54:49.15\00:54:51.09 into the Holy Place experience 00:54:51.12\00:54:52.75 where we continually are being filled 00:54:52.79\00:54:54.99 with the Holy Spirit so that we can see. 00:54:55.02\00:54:57.09 And it's a continual process of surrendering ideas to God. 00:54:57.13\00:55:00.36 So the beauty of it is 00:55:00.43\00:55:02.56 that we are in this continual never ending cycle 00:55:02.60\00:55:08.54 of engaging the Word of God, 00:55:08.57\00:55:10.14 which is the table of showbread 00:55:10.21\00:55:12.01 receiving the Holy Spirit and praying. 00:55:12.04\00:55:14.28 And through this cycle, 00:55:14.31\00:55:15.84 God is sanctifying our ideas on a continual basis. 00:55:15.88\00:55:21.12 And the thing is 00:55:21.15\00:55:22.72 that as those ideas are being sanctified 00:55:22.75\00:55:25.82 and giving us more clarity in the lens that we're viewing, 00:55:25.85\00:55:29.26 that helps us to see more of the text in a new way. 00:55:29.29\00:55:34.73 It's progressive. It's progressive. 00:55:34.76\00:55:37.37 And I recently had a presuppositional change 00:55:37.43\00:55:39.90 in my own mind where I had known 00:55:39.93\00:55:42.14 this concept for years, 00:55:42.17\00:55:43.57 but then through a Bible study, it enhanced my perspective. 00:55:43.61\00:55:47.28 And I was like, 00:55:47.34\00:55:48.68 "Oh, I never saw it like that before." 00:55:48.71\00:55:50.05 And it came into my presuppositional framework 00:55:50.08\00:55:51.75 and suddenly I was reading through Scripture 00:55:51.78\00:55:53.48 and I saw it everywhere. 00:55:53.52\00:55:54.85 I saw it everywhere, everywhere. 00:55:54.88\00:55:56.22 You know, I'd read the Bible through, 00:55:56.25\00:55:57.59 you know, multiple times, but then I had a framework 00:55:57.62\00:56:00.19 that was enhanced by Scripture that enabled me to see more. 00:56:00.22\00:56:04.49 And the beauty of it is even in heaven, 00:56:04.53\00:56:08.56 we'll be getting a deeper and deeper appreciation of God 00:56:08.60\00:56:13.97 as God is infinite. 00:56:14.04\00:56:17.31 We will be getting a more vivid 00:56:17.34\00:56:20.78 and beautiful picture of God 00:56:20.81\00:56:24.48 for all eternity. 00:56:24.51\00:56:26.55 And, but we'll never ever get there 00:56:26.58\00:56:28.85 as God is infinite. 00:56:28.88\00:56:30.39 And so, our progression extends into the life beyond. 00:56:30.42\00:56:35.79 We won't be experiencing sanctification 00:56:35.82\00:56:37.36 on the level that we're on now, 00:56:37.43\00:56:39.36 but in terms of enhancement in heaven, 00:56:39.39\00:56:41.20 it's continual. 00:56:41.23\00:56:42.56 And that's why in heaven, we can never say, 00:56:42.60\00:56:43.93 look, I'm bored. 00:56:43.97\00:56:45.30 I've known everything there is to know about God. 00:56:45.33\00:56:47.20 It's never ending. Amen. 00:56:47.24\00:56:48.84 Never ending Absolutely. 00:56:48.87\00:56:50.57 I wanna encourage you to stay tuned 00:56:50.61\00:56:52.11 because we have a full second hour. 00:56:52.14\00:56:54.14 We're going to jump into some incredible examples, 00:56:54.18\00:56:56.41 I think from the Book of Acts about presuppositions, 00:56:56.44\00:56:59.85 but we're talking nine about surrendering our ideas 00:56:59.88\00:57:03.25 to scripture. 00:57:03.28\00:57:04.62 And I don't know, maybe tonight 00:57:04.65\00:57:05.99 the Lord's pricked my heart as Pastor David talked to 00:57:06.02\00:57:08.22 in a couple areas and ideas, 00:57:08.26\00:57:10.69 presuppositions that I might carry. 00:57:10.76\00:57:12.46 So I would just encourage you to take your ideas to God, 00:57:12.49\00:57:17.27 take your ideas to the Holy Spirit 00:57:17.30\00:57:20.44 and make sure that you study the Word of God 00:57:20.47\00:57:24.14 with a converted heart, 00:57:24.21\00:57:25.54 with a heart that's open to say, 00:57:25.57\00:57:27.48 yes, God, I want to take off the lenses 00:57:27.51\00:57:29.71 that I looked through, 00:57:29.74\00:57:31.58 that I look at Scripture 00:57:31.61\00:57:33.08 and I want to look at it through your eyes. 00:57:33.11\00:57:35.85 And so we want to encourage you to stay tuned 00:57:35.88\00:57:37.75 for the second hour 00:57:37.79\00:57:39.12 and to text in or email in your questions 00:57:39.15\00:57:42.46 for Pastor David. 00:57:42.49\00:57:43.83 We'll be right back. 00:57:43.86\00:57:45.19
