Amen. 00:04:32.30\00:04:34.64 All right, tonight we are talking about 00:04:34.67\00:04:37.14 waiting on the Lord. 00:04:37.17\00:04:38.94 Good topic. Yeah. 00:04:38.97\00:04:40.31 This one, it's a big topic 00:04:40.34\00:04:42.18 because, you know, a lot of times 00:04:42.21\00:04:43.95 we don't really know the answer to our prayers 00:04:43.98\00:04:46.45 or maybe we're looking for a sign or something. 00:04:46.48\00:04:48.28 And we're waiting on God to give us those things. 00:04:48.32\00:04:51.05 And so, this is something that I think is very practical. 00:04:51.09\00:04:53.89 I think all of us in our Christian walk 00:04:53.92\00:04:56.09 has had to wait on the Lord at some capacity. 00:04:56.12\00:04:59.09 And so, this is gonna be a great topic 00:04:59.13\00:05:01.46 so you're gonna want to stay with us. 00:05:01.50\00:05:03.40 Yeah. So go ahead. 00:05:03.43\00:05:05.27 What like triggered you to look into this topic? 00:05:05.30\00:05:08.67 I'm curious, you know, 00:05:08.70\00:05:10.04 because we were talking about this, like, 00:05:10.07\00:05:11.41 what inspired you to do this topic? 00:05:11.44\00:05:13.04 You know, there's a lot of things 00:05:13.07\00:05:14.41 in my personal life, 00:05:14.44\00:05:16.14 that I feel like 00:05:16.18\00:05:17.51 I've had to wait on God to show me, 00:05:17.55\00:05:19.01 and it's not just always something that's materialistic, 00:05:19.05\00:05:24.19 like, you know, waiting on something 00:05:24.22\00:05:26.79 to arrive from Amazon. 00:05:26.82\00:05:28.16 You know what I mean, something like that, right? 00:05:28.19\00:05:29.86 Sometimes it's more of just like, 00:05:29.89\00:05:31.79 I'm spiritually, 00:05:31.83\00:05:33.16 you know, God to show me something in scripture 00:05:33.19\00:05:36.06 or something to help me understand better, 00:05:36.10\00:05:38.23 or something that I've been waiting on God to help me 00:05:38.27\00:05:41.07 so I can apply 00:05:41.10\00:05:42.44 whatever He's going to show me to my life 00:05:42.47\00:05:43.84 or something along those lines. 00:05:43.87\00:05:45.47 So that's why I wanted to study this topic today. 00:05:45.51\00:05:48.41 And in our talking together before we did the program, 00:05:48.44\00:05:52.38 all of you have had some stories about 00:05:52.41\00:05:54.12 how you've had to wait on God in different ways 00:05:54.15\00:05:56.45 and so I'm excited to see 00:05:56.48\00:05:57.82 what God does tonight through this, 00:05:57.85\00:05:59.29 through the study. 00:05:59.32\00:06:00.66 So let's start with a verse. 00:06:00.69\00:06:04.03 We'll, kind of, call it 00:06:04.06\00:06:05.46 the verse for the topic tonight. 00:06:05.49\00:06:07.20 And, Pamela, will you read Isaiah 40:31? 00:06:07.23\00:06:11.97 Yes. 00:06:12.00\00:06:13.37 So it says, "But those who wait on the Lord 00:06:13.40\00:06:15.90 shall renew their strength, 00:06:15.94\00:06:17.71 they shall mount up with wings like eagles, 00:06:17.74\00:06:19.94 they shall run and not be weary, 00:06:19.97\00:06:21.78 they shall walk and not faint." 00:06:21.81\00:06:23.31 Yeah. 00:06:23.35\00:06:24.68 Sounds like some endurance to me. 00:06:24.71\00:06:26.05 Yeah. 00:06:26.08\00:06:27.42 It's interesting because I was actually 00:06:27.45\00:06:30.19 looking up Strong's Concordance on this, 00:06:30.22\00:06:33.76 the word renew their strength 00:06:33.79\00:06:35.12 because those who wait on the Lord. 00:06:35.16\00:06:36.93 So we always talk about 00:06:36.96\00:06:38.69 what happens when we wait on the Lord. 00:06:38.73\00:06:40.20 It says they shall renew their strength. 00:06:40.23\00:06:42.10 And it says in Strong's Concordance 00:06:42.13\00:06:44.07 there are many different ways 00:06:44.10\00:06:45.57 you could bring it, but one of the words 00:06:45.60\00:06:46.97 that you could translate this to in Hebrew was to grow, 00:06:47.00\00:06:52.34 to change, you know. 00:06:52.37\00:06:53.98 And it's interesting, those who wait on the Lord 00:06:54.01\00:06:56.21 shall continue to grow their strength 00:06:56.24\00:06:58.18 or, you know, especially with their belief in God 00:06:58.21\00:07:01.05 and I find that so true, 00:07:01.08\00:07:02.78 especially in the stories we're going to tell later. 00:07:02.82\00:07:05.65 It was mind-boggling just how much, 00:07:05.69\00:07:09.66 you know, we had to trust in God 00:07:09.69\00:07:11.99 and believe on Him and because of that, 00:07:12.03\00:07:14.86 our faith in God 00:07:14.90\00:07:16.40 and our relationship in God grew. 00:07:16.43\00:07:17.90 Yes, yes. 00:07:17.93\00:07:19.27 It's almost like God knew that while waiting sometimes 00:07:19.30\00:07:23.24 we can grow weary, you know? 00:07:23.27\00:07:26.14 We could be waiting for a long time 00:07:26.17\00:07:28.08 and He knew that we would need the strength, 00:07:28.11\00:07:31.78 His strength. 00:07:31.81\00:07:34.02 Just like it says in this promise, 00:07:34.05\00:07:35.38 so that's why I really like this verse. 00:07:35.42\00:07:36.75 Yeah. 00:07:36.79\00:07:38.12 It's a great verse. That's true. 00:07:38.15\00:07:39.49 And we're gonna see a little bit later 00:07:39.52\00:07:41.32 what can happen when we grow weary 00:07:41.36\00:07:43.86 and waiting on God? 00:07:43.89\00:07:45.23 And we're going to give some examples of that, 00:07:45.26\00:07:46.80 but let's, let's do something a little bit encouraging first. 00:07:46.83\00:07:50.47 Okay, okay, okay. All right. 00:07:50.50\00:07:53.47 Let's go to Judges 6, Chapter 6, 00:07:53.50\00:07:56.37 and we're going to read specifically 00:07:56.40\00:07:57.91 verses 36 through 40. 00:07:57.94\00:07:59.27 Okay. 00:07:59.31\00:08:00.64 But to give just kind of a backstory, in Judges 6, 00:08:00.68\00:08:02.81 we see the story of Gideon. 00:08:02.84\00:08:04.51 And what we can see is that because of Israel's wickedness, 00:08:04.55\00:08:09.75 the Lord had allowed the Midianites 00:08:09.78\00:08:11.99 to kind of dominate them. 00:08:12.02\00:08:14.06 The Bible says, "For seven years, 00:08:14.09\00:08:15.72 they were at the hand of the Midianites 00:08:15.76\00:08:17.09 for seven years." 00:08:17.13\00:08:18.63 And Gideon was... 00:08:18.66\00:08:22.46 Essentially, as we've been talking about 00:08:22.50\00:08:24.00 waiting on God to show him a sign 00:08:24.03\00:08:25.97 whether He would save Israel or not. 00:08:26.00\00:08:28.47 And so verses 36 through 40, 00:08:28.50\00:08:31.14 actually kind of highlight 00:08:31.17\00:08:32.67 an interesting sign that Gideon asked 00:08:32.71\00:08:35.04 and it's called Gideon and the fleece. 00:08:35.08\00:08:37.45 We talk about sometimes, 00:08:37.48\00:08:39.25 metaphorically laying out our fleece 00:08:39.28\00:08:41.02 before the Lord, right? 00:08:41.05\00:08:42.38 Yeah. 00:08:42.42\00:08:43.75 And this is where it comes from. 00:08:43.79\00:08:45.12 And this is exactly where that comes from. 00:08:45.15\00:08:46.76 So if you've ever heard anyone say, 00:08:46.79\00:08:48.49 you know, lay out your fleece. 00:08:48.52\00:08:49.92 This is exactly where they pulled that from. 00:08:49.96\00:08:52.46 All right. So let's look at this. 00:08:52.49\00:08:53.83 So, Brandon, maybe you can read the first two verses and then, 00:08:53.86\00:08:57.37 Jamie, maybe the second two verses, 00:08:57.40\00:08:59.30 and then, Pamela, you want to read verse 40. 00:08:59.33\00:09:01.20 All right. 00:09:01.24\00:09:02.57 So I'm going to read from the ESV. 00:09:02.60\00:09:04.31 So it says, "Then Gideon said to God, 00:09:04.34\00:09:06.78 'If you will save Israel by my hand, 00:09:06.81\00:09:09.14 as you have said, behold, 00:09:09.18\00:09:11.18 I am laying a fleece of wool on the threshing floor. 00:09:11.21\00:09:14.55 If there is no dew on the fleece alone, 00:09:14.58\00:09:17.19 and it is dry on the ground, 00:09:17.22\00:09:18.69 then I shall know 00:09:18.72\00:09:20.06 that you will save Israel by my hand, 00:09:20.09\00:09:22.32 as you have said.'" 00:09:22.36\00:09:23.93 Verse 38, "And it was so. 00:09:23.96\00:09:26.96 When he rose early the next morning 00:09:27.00\00:09:29.56 and squeezed the fleece together, 00:09:29.60\00:09:31.90 he wrung the dew out of the fleece, 00:09:31.93\00:09:34.64 a bowlful of water." 00:09:34.67\00:09:36.81 That's a lot of dew. 00:09:36.84\00:09:40.18 "Then Gideon said to God, 'Do not be angry with me, 00:09:40.21\00:09:44.15 but let me speak just once more: 00:09:44.18\00:09:47.45 Let me test, I pray, 00:09:47.48\00:09:49.28 just once more with the fleece... 00:09:49.32\00:09:51.69 Let it now be dry only on the fleece, 00:09:56.66\00:09:59.43 but on all the ground let there be dew.'" 00:09:59.46\00:10:04.20 Verse 40 says, "And God did so that night. 00:10:04.23\00:10:07.54 It was dry on the fleece only, 00:10:07.57\00:10:09.57 but there was dew on all the ground." 00:10:09.60\00:10:12.37 There's a lot to unpack here. 00:10:12.41\00:10:14.71 In four verses, we see there's so much like 00:10:14.74\00:10:16.95 Brandon said compact. 00:10:16.98\00:10:18.51 Oh, man, it's crazy. 00:10:18.55\00:10:20.12 You know, what I find interesting about 00:10:20.15\00:10:21.48 this specific passage in scripture 00:10:21.52\00:10:24.39 is that it really is relatable as us today 00:10:24.42\00:10:28.39 because a lot of times as humans, 00:10:28.42\00:10:30.46 we doubt whether something is God or not. 00:10:30.49\00:10:33.13 Yeah. 00:10:33.16\00:10:34.50 Oh, it happens all the time. It does. 00:10:34.53\00:10:36.16 And Gideon right here kind of showed that. 00:10:36.20\00:10:37.83 He was like, all right, Lord, you know, clearly, 00:10:37.87\00:10:40.10 the first sign was true, 00:10:40.14\00:10:41.77 but I just want to make sure it's You. 00:10:41.80\00:10:43.54 Can you do the opposite this time, you know? 00:10:43.57\00:10:45.97 And I think that's really like fitting for us like sometimes, 00:10:46.01\00:10:48.51 you know, if we're waiting on God 00:10:48.54\00:10:49.98 to show us something, 00:10:50.01\00:10:51.35 we're waiting for a sign. 00:10:51.38\00:10:52.71 Yeah. We tend to like, okay, Lord. 00:10:52.75\00:10:54.32 All right, You did that. All right. 00:10:54.35\00:10:55.68 Now, I want another one. Oh, you did that. 00:10:55.72\00:10:57.32 Now, just one more to make sure it's You. 00:10:57.35\00:10:59.65 You know what I mean, 00:10:59.69\00:11:01.02 I find that really interesting so. 00:11:01.06\00:11:02.56 I find it funny because we were just, 00:11:02.59\00:11:04.46 we just had this experience. 00:11:04.49\00:11:05.83 We're in the process of buying a house right now. 00:11:05.86\00:11:07.60 But before we even got this, because we're like, 00:11:07.63\00:11:10.13 oh, man, we love this house 00:11:10.17\00:11:11.50 but is it God's will and we're like, 00:11:11.53\00:11:13.20 Lord if it's not Your will, you know, shut the door. 00:11:13.23\00:11:15.94 We're laying out our fleece, 00:11:15.97\00:11:17.31 you know, show us the sign just like Gideon's asking. 00:11:17.34\00:11:19.97 And it's funny 00:11:20.01\00:11:21.34 because when we sent our offering, 00:11:21.38\00:11:23.85 our realtor called in and said, 00:11:23.88\00:11:25.21 Oh, I'm sorry, they went with another offer. 00:11:25.25\00:11:28.05 But, you know, you can always counteroffer 00:11:28.08\00:11:31.32 in case you're second 00:11:31.35\00:11:32.69 because you will be the next person in line. 00:11:32.72\00:11:34.06 Right. 00:11:34.09\00:11:35.42 And, you know, me and Jamie are like, 00:11:35.46\00:11:36.79 okay, I guess God shut the door. 00:11:36.83\00:11:38.56 But, you know, it wasn't like, exactly like closure. 00:11:38.59\00:11:41.66 They said, there's still a chance but, 00:11:41.70\00:11:43.63 you know, generally most of the case, 00:11:43.67\00:11:45.23 it's like when somebody makes an offer, 00:11:45.27\00:11:47.30 and they go with that offer. 00:11:47.34\00:11:48.67 It's like, it's almost like that's the deal. 00:11:48.70\00:11:50.04 Yeah, exactly. 00:11:50.07\00:11:51.41 So we're like, okay, well, Lord, 00:11:51.44\00:11:53.58 you know, we just make sure you really shut the door. 00:11:53.61\00:11:56.85 So we laid out our second fleece. 00:11:56.88\00:11:59.01 Praying about it. 00:11:59.05\00:12:00.75 Please show us. 00:12:00.78\00:12:02.15 It's just Your will or not. Exactly. 00:12:02.18\00:12:04.19 And so, we went ahead and just made the counteroffer. 00:12:04.22\00:12:08.09 And then it was just crazy. 00:12:08.12\00:12:09.92 One day later, she calls in and says, 00:12:09.96\00:12:11.96 the first deal didn't work. 00:12:11.99\00:12:13.66 You're up next. 00:12:13.70\00:12:15.03 I was like, are you serious? 00:12:15.06\00:12:16.46 So we're still doing all the paperwork and everything. 00:12:16.50\00:12:18.50 But it's just funny 00:12:18.53\00:12:20.40 because this is just what we went through. 00:12:20.44\00:12:22.67 So we were like, don't be mad, 00:12:22.70\00:12:24.04 we put down another place, you know? 00:12:24.07\00:12:25.41 We weren't sure if that was a sign or not. 00:12:25.44\00:12:27.34 So, yeah. 00:12:27.38\00:12:28.78 You know, it's always good just to make sure, 00:12:28.81\00:12:31.08 you know, to get that sign. 00:12:31.11\00:12:33.08 I don't think God's angry 00:12:33.11\00:12:35.92 if we ask again for something like that. 00:12:35.95\00:12:38.62 He says come, let us reason. 00:12:38.65\00:12:40.12 He wants us to ask Him. 00:12:40.16\00:12:41.49 He wants us because He's ready and willing to give us 00:12:41.52\00:12:45.66 all these gifts that He's promised. 00:12:45.69\00:12:47.80 Yeah. Yeah. 00:12:47.83\00:12:50.13 He tells us to ask, He wants us to ask. 00:12:50.17\00:12:52.63 You know, He doesn't want us to assume things and all that, 00:12:52.67\00:12:55.34 He wants us to come to Him specifically. 00:12:55.37\00:12:57.17 And that's what we see here with Gideon 00:12:57.21\00:12:59.11 and the sign of the fleece. 00:12:59.14\00:13:00.48 I mean, Gideon could have prayed anything. 00:13:00.51\00:13:01.84 Yeah. God, let it rain tomorrow. 00:13:01.88\00:13:03.35 God, let it do this. God, let it do that. 00:13:03.38\00:13:05.21 But no, he prayed specifically. 00:13:05.25\00:13:07.08 And really, if you think about this, 00:13:07.12\00:13:09.28 this has to be a sign from God. 00:13:09.32\00:13:11.25 And we know it is obviously 00:13:11.29\00:13:12.62 because the Bible says it is 00:13:12.65\00:13:13.99 but also, because why would the fleece be damp 00:13:14.02\00:13:19.26 and then the ground wouldn't be and vice versa? 00:13:19.29\00:13:22.26 I mean, that doesn't make any sense from the, 00:13:22.30\00:13:23.93 if you want to call it 00:13:23.97\00:13:25.30 the logical physical mind, right? 00:13:25.33\00:13:27.10 So we know this was a sign from God. 00:13:27.14\00:13:29.40 And you know, I can kind of relate to this 00:13:29.44\00:13:31.67 as far as asking for signs, 00:13:31.71\00:13:33.51 because I was honored to go to Sunnydale Adventist Academy 00:13:33.54\00:13:37.98 for my senior year of high school. 00:13:38.01\00:13:40.05 I remember this. Yeah. 00:13:40.08\00:13:41.42 And it's a wild story, 00:13:41.45\00:13:42.78 I'm not going to tell the whole story 00:13:42.82\00:13:44.15 because it'll take probably the whole program for story, 00:13:44.19\00:13:46.72 and we got to get to other things here, 00:13:46.76\00:13:48.22 obviously. 00:13:48.26\00:13:49.59 But, essentially what happened for me was, 00:13:49.62\00:13:52.36 I had the opportunity, I had a friend, 00:13:52.39\00:13:54.56 actually, of this network, E.T. Everett encouraged me 00:13:54.60\00:13:56.73 to reach out to the Financial Officer 00:13:56.77\00:13:59.43 at Sunnydale, 00:13:59.47\00:14:00.80 and just ask him say, hey, 00:14:00.84\00:14:02.17 you know, I can't really do much financially. 00:14:02.20\00:14:05.54 But if it's, you know, God's will, 00:14:05.57\00:14:07.28 and you guys are willing to work with me, 00:14:07.31\00:14:09.01 I would love to attend Sunnydale. 00:14:09.04\00:14:10.85 So I'd waited a while, waited a while 00:14:10.88\00:14:12.81 and I prayed for sign. 00:14:12.85\00:14:14.18 I actually found out that 00:14:14.22\00:14:16.55 he was going to be 00:14:16.58\00:14:17.92 at our local eighth-grade graduation 00:14:17.95\00:14:20.02 and dean scholarships to the new kids 00:14:20.06\00:14:23.26 going into freshman year 00:14:23.29\00:14:25.16 which is so funny because that was one of the first times 00:14:25.19\00:14:27.86 he had been in our area. 00:14:27.90\00:14:29.43 And I thought that's interesting. 00:14:29.46\00:14:31.27 So I prayed to God and I said, "God, 00:14:31.30\00:14:35.27 if You want me to go to Sunnydale, 00:14:35.30\00:14:37.04 then please allow him to come to me 00:14:37.07\00:14:39.97 and not me have to go to him." 00:14:40.01\00:14:41.34 Okay. 00:14:41.38\00:14:42.71 So after the graduation 00:14:42.74\00:14:44.08 or whatever, he came straight to me, 00:14:44.11\00:14:45.88 and he said here's what you need to do 00:14:45.91\00:14:47.42 all the logistical stuff and I said, 00:14:47.45\00:14:48.85 "Okay, there's a sign." 00:14:48.88\00:14:50.29 I thank You Lord, You answered my prayer there. 00:14:50.32\00:14:52.49 And then I said, "Okay, God, I need another sign." 00:14:52.52\00:14:54.86 You know, my doubtful heart if you want to call it that. 00:14:54.89\00:14:57.69 And I said, God, you know, I'm a musician. 00:14:57.73\00:15:00.46 I play different instruments. I love music. 00:15:00.50\00:15:03.00 So I said, obviously I need to be involved in music 00:15:03.03\00:15:05.33 at Sunnydale. 00:15:05.37\00:15:06.70 So if you want me to go, 00:15:06.74\00:15:08.07 then please provide an instrument, 00:15:08.10\00:15:09.70 specifically a trombone, 00:15:09.74\00:15:11.21 because that's what I played in like 00:15:11.24\00:15:12.57 a band setting was trombone. 00:15:12.61\00:15:14.71 So I'm getting baptized and my teacher, 00:15:14.74\00:15:18.35 Miss Haney is there. 00:15:18.38\00:15:20.28 And what you have to understand about 00:15:20.32\00:15:22.15 Miss Haney is Miss Haney had invested so much into me 00:15:22.18\00:15:25.75 as a musician and all the kids that went through 00:15:25.79\00:15:28.49 the local Thompsonville School here, 00:15:28.52\00:15:29.96 she invested so much, 00:15:29.99\00:15:31.33 she would spend her own money 00:15:31.36\00:15:32.69 on purchasing instruments for us to learn 00:15:32.73\00:15:34.70 and try and she was always. 00:15:34.73\00:15:36.06 Wonderful lady. Yeah. 00:15:36.10\00:15:37.43 She's awesome. 00:15:37.47\00:15:38.80 She is, always so helpful. 00:15:38.83\00:15:40.17 And so she went to the pawnshop a lot of times 00:15:40.20\00:15:42.70 because you could get good instruments for cheap. 00:15:42.74\00:15:45.01 You know, a lot of college kids come in, 00:15:45.04\00:15:46.84 and they sell their instruments to the pawnshop and all that. 00:15:46.88\00:15:49.64 So she went to the pawnshop, 00:15:49.68\00:15:52.55 and there was the lady at the front desk had said, 00:15:52.58\00:15:55.38 hey, we got this trombone in the back. 00:15:55.42\00:15:58.29 She said, we're probably not going to sell it, 00:15:58.32\00:16:01.09 you know, go ahead, and I know you do music at your school, 00:16:01.12\00:16:04.16 why don't you take it 00:16:04.19\00:16:05.53 and she said, Okay, I'll take it. 00:16:05.56\00:16:06.90 So anyway, going back to the baptism, 00:16:06.93\00:16:08.26 I'm at my baptism Miss Haney is there 00:16:08.30\00:16:10.77 and we finished the baptism, 00:16:10.80\00:16:12.93 everything's great and whatever, 00:16:12.97\00:16:14.30 we're about to go eat and Miss Haney is like, 00:16:14.34\00:16:15.67 hey, can you come to my car real quick, 00:16:15.70\00:16:17.04 I want to show you something. 00:16:17.07\00:16:18.41 I was like, okay, 00:16:18.44\00:16:19.77 I wasn't really thinking anything of it. 00:16:19.81\00:16:21.14 Yeah. 00:16:21.18\00:16:22.51 I just thought okay, Miss Haney likes to show me 00:16:22.54\00:16:23.98 different things musically. 00:16:24.01\00:16:25.38 At the time let me say this. 00:16:25.41\00:16:27.58 Miss Haney had no idea 00:16:27.62\00:16:29.75 that I had started my enrollment, 00:16:29.78\00:16:32.19 you know, phase if you want to call it that 00:16:32.22\00:16:34.52 into Sunnydale. 00:16:34.56\00:16:35.89 Right. 00:16:35.92\00:16:37.26 So she opens her trunk, and there's a trombone. 00:16:37.29\00:16:40.50 A trombone case. 00:16:40.53\00:16:42.46 And I'm thinking to myself, oh, my God. 00:16:42.50\00:16:46.37 I was like, this is crazy. 00:16:46.40\00:16:47.77 Because like I said, with the Gideon story, 00:16:47.80\00:16:49.67 it wasn't just like a general or whatever. 00:16:49.70\00:16:52.14 It was a specific prayer that I had prayed. 00:16:52.17\00:16:54.54 And I was waiting on God to answer. 00:16:54.58\00:16:56.64 And He answered that prayer. 00:16:56.68\00:16:58.01 And Miss Haney goes, well, she's like, 00:16:58.05\00:16:59.61 you know, the lady at the pawnshop 00:16:59.65\00:17:01.38 had this old trombone, 00:17:01.42\00:17:02.75 she just gave it to me to use at the school, 00:17:02.78\00:17:04.42 would you like to use it? 00:17:04.45\00:17:06.19 Because she had thought I would come back 00:17:06.22\00:17:08.69 and teach at the school 00:17:08.72\00:17:10.06 because at the time I was teaching at the school 00:17:10.09\00:17:11.56 in Thompsonville. 00:17:11.59\00:17:12.93 Right. And I said, yeah, I want it. 00:17:12.96\00:17:14.76 So that was, you know, that's kind of my sign 00:17:18.10\00:17:21.97 waiting on a sign from God's glory. 00:17:22.00\00:17:24.04 And I just think that's really beautiful 00:17:24.07\00:17:26.11 that God allows us 00:17:26.14\00:17:27.98 to witness His miracles in action in our lives 00:17:28.01\00:17:32.18 and I think that's really neat. 00:17:32.21\00:17:33.55 You know, it's interesting, 00:17:33.58\00:17:35.62 because we could share examples 00:17:35.65\00:17:37.69 of waiting on the Lord, like, over and over and over again. 00:17:37.72\00:17:40.76 And, you know, I was kind of studying a little bit about 00:17:40.79\00:17:44.19 different verses of waiting on the Lord 00:17:44.23\00:17:45.96 and I realized that none of the verses 00:17:45.99\00:17:50.17 is God telling us to wait on Him. 00:17:50.20\00:17:53.67 It's everyone else that says, hey, guys, wait on the Lord. 00:17:53.70\00:17:57.17 There was David, there was, there's like many others. 00:17:57.21\00:17:59.07 I was like, I was looking at. Yeah. 00:17:59.11\00:18:01.11 It was a lot in Psalms 00:18:01.14\00:18:02.48 and then there was a lot in others 00:18:02.51\00:18:03.85 like Hosea and Isaiah, 00:18:03.88\00:18:06.35 and they were just all like, 00:18:06.38\00:18:07.82 just wait on the Lord. 00:18:07.85\00:18:09.18 And I was just like, that's really interesting. 00:18:09.22\00:18:11.29 It's not God telling us, hey, wait on me 00:18:11.32\00:18:14.36 it's everyone's saying guys wait on Lord 00:18:14.39\00:18:16.29 because I'll tell you what, 00:18:16.32\00:18:17.66 we have many experiences to share because of that. 00:18:17.69\00:18:19.66 And I think when we wait on God, 00:18:19.69\00:18:21.60 there's, you know, there are so many stories 00:18:21.63\00:18:23.53 that we could tell about that. 00:18:23.57\00:18:24.90 There is. Yeah. 00:18:24.93\00:18:26.27 And like, Pamela, I know like your family 00:18:26.30\00:18:28.70 was waiting on God 00:18:28.74\00:18:30.07 to like provide an opportunity to come here even, 00:18:30.11\00:18:32.57 because you guys were in Georgia, 00:18:32.61\00:18:34.74 you know, and you guys are praying for God 00:18:34.78\00:18:37.31 to provide an opportunity 00:18:37.35\00:18:38.68 to maybe come work here at 3ABN. 00:18:38.71\00:18:40.05 Yep. That was a long time at 3ABN. 00:18:40.08\00:18:43.69 Yeah, that was a long time. 00:18:43.72\00:18:45.05 I think that's like for all of us. 00:18:45.09\00:18:47.12 Yeah, we all share the similar story. 00:18:47.16\00:18:49.16 What was your experience like, 00:18:49.19\00:18:50.53 you know, just the whole coming here 00:18:50.56\00:18:53.23 and everything? 00:18:53.26\00:18:54.60 It was unexpected. 00:18:54.63\00:18:55.96 It's a long story 00:19:00.54\00:19:01.87 that can probably also take the whole time 00:19:01.90\00:19:03.41 but we were just waiting and praying 00:19:03.44\00:19:06.14 and I think the prayers would keep us going. 00:19:06.17\00:19:09.51 So it just took a while, but... 00:19:09.54\00:19:11.48 Was there like a specific sign you guys were? 00:19:11.51\00:19:14.55 That's a parent's question. 00:19:14.58\00:19:17.15 Okay, in fact, they're right over here. 00:19:17.19\00:19:20.12 There's actually on camera right now. 00:19:20.16\00:19:23.63 Yeah. 00:19:23.66\00:19:25.19 Well, sometimes we just pray, Lord, please open the door. 00:19:25.23\00:19:28.40 That's what I do a lot of times. 00:19:28.43\00:19:29.76 I might not say specifically, 00:19:29.80\00:19:31.57 God, I want this and this and this done 00:19:31.60\00:19:34.40 but I may say God, 00:19:34.44\00:19:35.77 can you please just close the door 00:19:35.80\00:19:37.77 if it's not Your will? 00:19:37.81\00:19:39.54 I don't want to do anything 00:19:39.57\00:19:40.91 that's not in accordance with His will. 00:19:40.94\00:19:42.84 And, you know, when you pray, 00:19:42.88\00:19:45.15 God answers your prayer 00:19:45.18\00:19:46.92 and He even answers 00:19:46.95\00:19:48.28 even before we even think to pray about it, you know. 00:19:48.32\00:19:53.46 So like probably the same thing with you guys. 00:19:53.49\00:19:55.99 We just pray God, 00:19:56.02\00:19:57.36 can You please just open the door wide? 00:19:57.39\00:19:58.83 Yeah. 00:19:58.86\00:20:00.20 Let me know it's Your will 00:20:00.23\00:20:01.56 and if it's not, close the door, 00:20:01.60\00:20:02.93 and I know that He will provide something else, 00:20:02.96\00:20:05.20 that's even better for us. 00:20:05.23\00:20:06.57 Yeah. 00:20:06.60\00:20:07.94 And I like something Pamela said 00:20:07.97\00:20:09.30 when we were discussing, like, 00:20:09.34\00:20:10.67 you know, this topic specifically 00:20:10.71\00:20:12.04 before the program is, 00:20:12.07\00:20:13.41 sometimes the answer is no. 00:20:13.44\00:20:15.91 Sometimes we assume that 00:20:15.94\00:20:17.61 God's answers are always yes or whatever, 00:20:17.65\00:20:20.62 but sometimes it's no 00:20:20.65\00:20:22.38 and that can be something hard to deal with, 00:20:22.42\00:20:24.39 especially if it's something we really want, 00:20:24.42\00:20:26.12 or we feel like we really need, you know? 00:20:26.15\00:20:28.59 Exactly, we start making excuses. 00:20:28.62\00:20:31.09 But God, you know, did you really say no? 00:20:31.13\00:20:34.30 Or you try to like force it, 00:20:34.33\00:20:35.80 you know, like, oh, He may have said no here, 00:20:35.83\00:20:37.90 but let's just like work around this. 00:20:37.93\00:20:42.94 Get my way, you know what I mean? 00:20:42.97\00:20:44.97 Yeah, exactly. 00:20:45.01\00:20:46.68 We get caught up in that 00:20:46.71\00:20:48.48 and so it's just a matter 00:20:48.51\00:20:49.84 of a lot of times also trusting God, 00:20:49.88\00:20:52.51 and trusting that He knows what's best for us 00:20:52.55\00:20:55.02 regardless of how we may feel in that moment, 00:20:55.05\00:20:56.79 just because we feel a certain way, 00:20:56.82\00:20:58.69 that doesn't change God's will for us. 00:20:58.72\00:21:00.39 Yeah. You know what I mean. 00:21:00.42\00:21:01.76 God, God wants the best for us. 00:21:01.79\00:21:03.32 And sometimes we don't know what that is, but He does. 00:21:03.36\00:21:06.29 And so trusting in that 00:21:06.33\00:21:07.80 is something we have to do, I believe. 00:21:07.83\00:21:10.00 Let's talk about another story 00:21:10.03\00:21:13.13 in Scripture about waiting on the Lord. 00:21:13.17\00:21:14.50 Now this one is... 00:21:14.54\00:21:17.37 Look at, let me say it. 00:21:17.41\00:21:19.51 No, no, there's a lot there, so. 00:21:19.54\00:21:21.24 I can't imagine having to wait on God 00:21:21.28\00:21:23.81 to provide something or an opportunity for 40 years. 00:21:23.85\00:21:26.41 Oh, man. 00:21:26.45\00:21:27.78 Oh, we're, so we're going back to Exodus. 00:21:27.82\00:21:29.55 Okay, okay. 00:21:29.58\00:21:32.22 Oh, man, like, I'm just like, 00:21:32.25\00:21:34.09 I'm always anxious just waiting like a week for an answer. 00:21:34.12\00:21:37.99 Yeah, and it's so difficult for us 00:21:38.03\00:21:39.96 because we live 00:21:40.00\00:21:41.33 in such an instant world, right? 00:21:41.36\00:21:42.73 You know, like instant messages, 00:21:42.76\00:21:44.90 phone calls, instant packages like 00:21:44.93\00:21:47.60 we live instant food, you know. 00:21:47.64\00:21:49.44 It's like, we live in this fast-paced world 00:21:49.47\00:21:52.11 and it desensitizes us to, 00:21:52.14\00:21:54.04 to God's timing so to speak, 00:21:54.08\00:21:55.81 when we think it should be our time 00:21:55.84\00:21:57.18 and a lot of times it's not. 00:21:57.21\00:21:58.55 Yeah, yeah. 00:21:58.58\00:21:59.91 You know, on a previous program we did with a friend, 00:21:59.95\00:22:01.95 she said, something along the lines of that, 00:22:01.98\00:22:06.96 when we wait on God, sometimes for us, 00:22:06.99\00:22:09.79 it's the last second, 00:22:09.82\00:22:11.29 in our minds it's the last second. 00:22:11.33\00:22:15.40 Sometimes it's the last second for us, 00:22:15.43\00:22:16.97 but it's right on time for God. 00:22:17.00\00:22:18.53 You know what I mean? That is true. 00:22:18.57\00:22:20.04 So let's talk about the children of Israel 00:22:20.07\00:22:22.90 traveling to the Promised Land. 00:22:22.94\00:22:26.27 In Exodus Chapter 12, 00:22:26.31\00:22:27.88 it's kind of where it starts them, 00:22:27.91\00:22:29.38 you know, leaving Egypt and all of that. 00:22:29.41\00:22:31.58 And we see through Exodus 00:22:31.61\00:22:34.25 and through them traveling through the desert, 00:22:34.28\00:22:36.32 that there are various signs from God all around them, 00:22:36.35\00:22:39.95 you know, obviously them traveling from the sea. 00:22:39.99\00:22:42.49 The sea separating 00:22:42.52\00:22:43.86 and then being able to escape from the Egyptians 00:22:43.89\00:22:46.80 and other examples, the manna and all that type of stuff. 00:22:46.83\00:22:50.70 All those signs that God was providing for them. 00:22:50.73\00:22:52.73 He was saying, even though it was a long time for them 00:22:52.77\00:22:55.60 to be wandering in the wilderness. 00:22:55.64\00:22:56.97 Yeah. 00:22:57.01\00:22:58.34 He was still telling them, I'm still here. 00:22:58.37\00:23:00.24 I still got you, but here's the issue. 00:23:00.28\00:23:06.21 Sometimes, there are situations in our lives 00:23:06.25\00:23:09.58 where we feel like, 00:23:09.62\00:23:11.52 we wait too long on God. 00:23:11.55\00:23:13.82 And a lot of times, if we feel that way, 00:23:13.86\00:23:16.49 we take things into our own hands. 00:23:16.52\00:23:19.19 And we can see what happens in this story of Exodus, 00:23:19.23\00:23:23.50 we can see what happens 00:23:23.53\00:23:25.33 when we take things into our own hands 00:23:25.37\00:23:27.74 and stop waiting on the Lord. 00:23:27.77\00:23:30.24 There's a specific passage in scripture, 00:23:30.27\00:23:34.51 talking about the wilderness, 00:23:34.54\00:23:36.21 them traveling through the wilderness. 00:23:36.24\00:23:38.78 And something that's really interesting about it is, 00:23:38.81\00:23:41.22 we've seen Moses, 00:23:41.25\00:23:42.58 he's up in the mountains talking to God. 00:23:42.62\00:23:44.95 Getting the message, getting the Ten Commandments 00:23:44.99\00:23:46.99 from God on the stone tablets. 00:23:47.02\00:23:50.26 And basically, 00:23:50.29\00:23:51.69 when Moses comes back from the mountains, 00:23:51.73\00:23:55.13 he comes down from the mountains, 00:23:55.16\00:23:56.80 he finds the Israelites have taken all the jewelry 00:23:56.83\00:24:00.94 that they came with from Egypt 00:24:00.97\00:24:04.04 and they made it into an image, an idol. 00:24:04.07\00:24:08.24 And what they were doing 00:24:08.28\00:24:10.18 was they were worshiping that idol. 00:24:10.21\00:24:14.72 And, yeah... 00:24:14.75\00:24:17.12 Took things into their own hands. 00:24:17.15\00:24:18.65 They took things into their own hands. 00:24:18.69\00:24:24.06 What's so interesting about that, in particular, 00:24:24.09\00:24:27.36 is that during, you know, one of the laws 00:24:27.40\00:24:31.27 in the Ten Commandments is no idols, right? 00:24:31.30\00:24:33.77 God doesn't want any other idols in front of Him. 00:24:33.80\00:24:35.44 He's God and God alone. 00:24:35.47\00:24:36.81 Don't worship anybody else. 00:24:36.84\00:24:38.21 Exodus 20. 00:24:38.24\00:24:40.11 So, it's really interesting that one of those commands 00:24:40.14\00:24:45.98 was on the Ten Commandments. 00:24:46.01\00:24:47.35 And when Moses comes down, 00:24:47.38\00:24:48.95 they're breaking one of the command 00:24:48.98\00:24:51.19 that God was providing, was going to provide to them. 00:24:51.22\00:24:55.09 He was only up there for like two or three days or something. 00:24:55.12\00:24:57.73 Yeah, you know, it wasn't that long. 00:24:57.76\00:25:01.40 And here's what's so amazing to me about that. 00:25:01.43\00:25:06.13 Even if it was a week, a month 00:25:06.17\00:25:08.80 that Moses was up there talking to God, 00:25:08.84\00:25:11.27 they had traveled in the wilderness for 40 years. 00:25:11.31\00:25:14.94 They've been waiting already for 40 years 00:25:14.98\00:25:17.61 to make it into the Promised Land. 00:25:17.65\00:25:18.98 They were in the desert. 00:25:19.01\00:25:20.35 They were provided food, they were provided water, 00:25:20.38\00:25:22.45 they were provided all the essentials 00:25:22.48\00:25:24.55 from nothing. 00:25:24.59\00:25:26.25 You know, because they're out in the desert, 00:25:26.29\00:25:27.76 they saw the Red Sea split, they seen miracles from God, 00:25:27.79\00:25:30.66 they've seen Him, you know, in the tabernacle. 00:25:30.69\00:25:32.09 A cloud led them by day, a fire by night. 00:25:32.13\00:25:34.66 And just like two or three days of Moses not being there. 00:25:34.70\00:25:39.17 They're like, I miss the old ways. 00:25:39.20\00:25:42.47 Do you know what I mean? 00:25:42.50\00:25:44.14 They took matters into their own hands. 00:25:44.17\00:25:45.51 Yeah, in many ways, it's really sad, 00:25:45.54\00:25:49.28 and it can kind of speak to the condition 00:25:49.31\00:25:50.95 we can get in if we get complacent 00:25:50.98\00:25:53.88 and we get into this space of I'm tired of waiting on God. 00:25:53.92\00:25:59.05 I think the biggest example is, you know, parents, 00:25:59.09\00:26:01.89 and I've heard this many, many times 00:26:01.92\00:26:04.39 where their children rebels, 00:26:04.43\00:26:06.09 and they go into the world, 00:26:06.13\00:26:07.46 and they start praying for their kid 00:26:07.50\00:26:08.83 and God's not answering their prayer for them 00:26:08.86\00:26:10.67 after like, you know, so many years. 00:26:10.70\00:26:12.47 So they start being like, hey, you know, you should repent. 00:26:12.50\00:26:16.04 They call him up, 00:26:16.07\00:26:17.41 you should repent and follow God, 00:26:17.44\00:26:19.14 and it just turns the kid away, even more, 00:26:19.17\00:26:21.21 you know, because they started taking matters 00:26:21.24\00:26:22.64 into their own hands. 00:26:22.68\00:26:25.61 It can be as simple as that 00:26:25.65\00:26:26.98 or, you know, even just praying for like 00:26:27.02\00:26:28.85 health conditions for somebody, 00:26:28.88\00:26:30.45 you know, some people start getting complacent about that 00:26:30.49\00:26:33.15 and they start doing, 00:26:33.19\00:26:34.76 you know, who knows what they'll start doing 00:26:34.79\00:26:36.39 to try to heal somebody 00:26:36.42\00:26:37.76 because they're, they're not waiting on God. 00:26:37.79\00:26:39.43 That's true. 00:26:39.46\00:26:41.36 And sometimes God has provided the answer, 00:26:41.40\00:26:46.50 but we don't like the answer. 00:26:46.53\00:26:48.34 So we still try to take it into our own hands. 00:26:48.37\00:26:50.57 Yeah, exactly. 00:26:50.61\00:26:51.94 You know, and so there's various examples of that, 00:26:51.97\00:26:53.91 I believe in the story of the children of Israel 00:26:53.94\00:26:56.14 trying to travel to the Promised Land. 00:26:56.18\00:26:58.55 And so, I think that's so interesting. 00:26:58.58\00:27:01.02 So something we have to be careful about is 00:27:01.05\00:27:02.98 when we're waiting on God waited out, 00:27:03.02\00:27:05.25 and if He's given us the answer, 00:27:05.29\00:27:07.42 we need to trust 00:27:07.46\00:27:08.79 that's gonna be the right answer. 00:27:08.82\00:27:10.16 Exactly. 00:27:10.19\00:27:12.19 All right. 00:27:12.23\00:27:13.56 Let's talk about 00:27:13.60\00:27:14.93 something going back to the children of Israel, 00:27:14.96\00:27:18.00 that happened to them? 00:27:18.03\00:27:19.90 And should we be anxious when we're waiting on the Lord? 00:27:19.93\00:27:23.87 Well, I think that's just a given, 00:27:23.91\00:27:25.41 you know, some people are just like a little anxious 00:27:25.44\00:27:27.71 whenever they're making a big decision, 00:27:27.74\00:27:30.15 you know, it's like, oh, man, 00:27:30.18\00:27:32.38 you know, like buying a house, for example, 00:27:32.41\00:27:35.68 or going off to a distant land, 00:27:35.72\00:27:37.69 or, you know, who knows what, 00:27:37.72\00:27:39.52 and you're always anxious to know like 00:27:39.55\00:27:41.39 what's your answer. 00:27:41.42\00:27:42.76 And some people are just anxious 00:27:42.79\00:27:44.13 because they wanted the answer right away, 00:27:44.16\00:27:46.19 you know, but should we be anxious? 00:27:46.23\00:27:48.30 And that's a very important question. 00:27:48.33\00:27:51.13 And I think a lot of people when they really rely on God, 00:27:51.17\00:27:56.30 and they really trust in Him 00:27:56.34\00:27:57.87 that He's going to provide the answer, then, 00:27:57.91\00:28:00.74 I think the anxiousness would go away 00:28:00.78\00:28:02.61 most of the time. 00:28:02.64\00:28:04.11 But it's this that step of, 00:28:04.15\00:28:05.78 you know, waiting and everything that 00:28:05.81\00:28:07.22 you'd kind of do get anxious, but I think 00:28:07.25\00:28:09.65 I think, you know, in the end, no, 00:28:09.68\00:28:11.39 I think we shouldn't be anxious. 00:28:11.42\00:28:12.75 Yeah. I don't know. 00:28:12.79\00:28:14.12 What do you guys think? 00:28:14.16\00:28:16.62 It reminded me of the words of Jesus, 00:28:16.66\00:28:18.83 how He said in Matthew 6, 00:28:18.86\00:28:21.10 this is one of my favorite passages, verse 25. 00:28:21.13\00:28:24.43 And it goes onwards. 00:28:24.47\00:28:25.90 He says specifically, "Therefore, I say to you, 00:28:25.93\00:28:29.10 do not worry about your life, 00:28:29.14\00:28:31.24 what you'll eat, or what you'll drink, 00:28:31.27\00:28:33.21 nor about your body. 00:28:33.24\00:28:34.88 What will you put on? 00:28:34.91\00:28:38.08 Is life not more than food and clothing and the body, 00:28:38.11\00:28:42.12 the life more than food, 00:28:42.15\00:28:43.49 and the body more than clothing?" 00:28:43.52\00:28:45.75 You know, he even goes on to say 00:28:45.79\00:28:48.46 that your Heavenly Father knows everything that you need. 00:28:48.49\00:28:52.73 And it's, kind of, like a parent 00:28:52.76\00:28:55.03 like we need to trust 00:28:55.06\00:28:56.77 that God loves us and that He knows 00:28:56.80\00:29:00.00 what we need before we even ask. 00:29:00.04\00:29:03.34 I mean, even here in Psalm 37:7 it says, 00:29:03.37\00:29:06.14 "Be still before the Lord and wait patiently for Him. 00:29:06.17\00:29:08.84 Fret not yourself over the one who prospers in his way, 00:29:08.88\00:29:12.48 over the man who carries out evil devices." 00:29:12.51\00:29:14.38 In other words, 00:29:14.42\00:29:15.75 you know, wait patiently on Him and don't, 00:29:15.78\00:29:17.62 you know, don't be afraid, don't be anxious, 00:29:17.65\00:29:19.95 you know, just rely on Him 00:29:19.99\00:29:21.82 and He'll provide you what's good for you. 00:29:21.86\00:29:25.56 There's a great verse in Philippians 4, or 4:6. 00:29:25.59\00:29:30.57 Pamela, can you read for us Philippians 4:6? 00:29:30.60\00:29:32.47 Sure. 00:29:32.50\00:29:33.84 It says, "Be anxious for nothing, 00:29:33.87\00:29:35.20 but in everything by prayer and supplication 00:29:35.24\00:29:37.64 with thanksgiving, 00:29:37.67\00:29:39.07 let your requests be made known to God. 00:29:39.11\00:29:42.18 And the peace of God 00:29:42.21\00:29:43.55 which surpasses all understanding will guard 00:29:43.58\00:29:45.68 your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus." 00:29:45.71\00:29:47.58 It's a beautiful verse. 00:29:47.62\00:29:49.38 So we can see like God's gonna give us peace 00:29:49.42\00:29:52.92 as long as we trust in Him, He'll give us that peace. 00:29:52.95\00:29:55.56 You know, and don't get me wrong. 00:29:55.59\00:29:57.76 There's obviously situations in our lives 00:29:57.79\00:29:59.56 where we may feel distant from God 00:29:59.59\00:30:03.13 and we may feel like it's hard to trust in Him. 00:30:03.16\00:30:06.47 Because even though He's been so good to us through our life, 00:30:06.50\00:30:09.44 sometimes as humans, we still get in that, 00:30:09.47\00:30:12.34 that feeling that mindset of, oh, man, this is scarier. 00:30:12.37\00:30:16.95 I don't know how to step out, or I don't know how to do this. 00:30:16.98\00:30:19.65 Sometimes that can be in stuff like witnessing, 00:30:19.68\00:30:22.35 you know, maybe you're a shy person. 00:30:22.38\00:30:24.32 Yeah. 00:30:24.35\00:30:25.69 You know, and sometimes you're like, 00:30:31.69\00:30:33.03 are they gonna think I'm weird 00:30:33.06\00:30:34.50 that I'm telling them about Jesus, 00:30:34.53\00:30:35.86 or they're gonna think, 00:30:35.90\00:30:37.23 you know, all that kind of stuff. 00:30:37.27\00:30:38.60 So there's like various situations 00:30:38.63\00:30:40.14 where we need that peace. 00:30:40.17\00:30:42.90 And same thing with waiting on God. 00:30:42.94\00:30:45.71 Our anxiousness can sometimes eat us up. 00:30:45.74\00:30:48.44 And like, God, I've been waiting a year. 00:30:48.48\00:30:50.48 God, I've been waiting a few months. 00:30:50.51\00:30:51.85 God, I need an answer. 00:30:51.88\00:30:53.21 God, I'm gonna be evicted out of my house. 00:30:53.25\00:30:55.12 God, I need an answer, 00:30:55.15\00:30:57.15 you know, and it's scary 00:30:57.19\00:30:58.52 but as we begin to grow in Christ, 00:30:58.55\00:31:00.89 and begin to trust Him even more, 00:31:00.92\00:31:02.69 what we realize is like it says in Jeremiah, 00:31:02.72\00:31:05.16 that He has His plans for us, you know? 00:31:05.19\00:31:08.60 He wants us to be in good health, 00:31:08.63\00:31:11.03 He wants us to have, 00:31:11.07\00:31:12.40 you know, a nice life to live, 00:31:12.43\00:31:15.07 it doesn't mean it's going to be luxurious. 00:31:15.10\00:31:16.84 It doesn't mean we're going to have a lot of money 00:31:16.87\00:31:18.57 or anything like that, 00:31:18.61\00:31:19.94 but He wants us to live great lives, 00:31:19.97\00:31:22.58 abundant life. 00:31:22.61\00:31:23.95 So, you know, it's really interesting 00:31:23.98\00:31:26.55 when it comes to, should we be anxious? 00:31:26.58\00:31:29.52 I think the Bible is very clear 00:31:29.55\00:31:30.89 that we should just trust in God. 00:31:30.92\00:31:32.25 Definitely. 00:31:32.29\00:31:35.06 You gotta know, God created you from His hands, 00:31:35.09\00:31:38.46 and He has a whole life plan for you. 00:31:38.49\00:31:40.86 So the person that planned out your life and made you, 00:31:40.90\00:31:43.60 do you not think that He would know 00:31:43.63\00:31:45.07 what's best for you? 00:31:45.10\00:31:46.43 Exactly. 00:31:46.47\00:31:47.80 You know, one of my favorite verses in scripture 00:31:47.84\00:31:49.77 is Philippians 1:6. 00:31:49.80\00:31:51.14 Oh, good verse. 00:31:51.17\00:31:52.51 And I love this one because it's a promise from God. 00:31:52.54\00:31:54.18 It says, "Being confident of this very thing, 00:31:54.21\00:31:56.71 that He who has begun a good work 00:31:56.75\00:31:58.71 in you will complete it 00:31:58.75\00:32:00.38 until the day of Jesus Christ." 00:32:00.42\00:32:02.45 So we know that when we're in God's hands, 00:32:02.48\00:32:04.95 He's got us. 00:32:04.99\00:32:06.32 If He's starting to work in us, He's got us. 00:32:06.35\00:32:08.49 And so, that's just really, really exciting for me. 00:32:08.52\00:32:11.49 I love that verse. It's very encouraging. 00:32:11.53\00:32:13.70 Sometimes when I think I don't have purpose 00:32:13.73\00:32:15.83 or something along those lines, 00:32:15.86\00:32:17.40 I just know that like, regardless, I know, 00:32:17.43\00:32:19.00 God's started to get working me 00:32:19.03\00:32:20.47 and I know He's not going to let me down in that. 00:32:20.50\00:32:22.90 Pamela, I think you were gonna say something. 00:32:22.94\00:32:24.44 Yeah, I was just gonna say 00:32:24.47\00:32:25.81 if we go back to Philippians 3:6, 00:32:25.84\00:32:31.01 there's a part that says, 00:32:31.05\00:32:32.38 let your requests be made known to God. 00:32:32.41\00:32:34.42 And I just wanted to piggyback on. 00:32:34.45\00:32:35.82 You mean 4:6? 00:32:35.85\00:32:37.19 Oh, I'm sorry, 4:6? 00:32:37.22\00:32:38.55 Yes, I was looking at, 4:6 00:32:38.59\00:32:41.02 to let your requests be made known to God. 00:32:41.06\00:32:44.33 And just going back 00:32:44.36\00:32:45.69 on how you were talking about trust 00:32:45.73\00:32:47.06 and just that we should always... 00:32:47.10\00:32:49.90 He wants us to ask, 00:32:49.93\00:32:52.93 He knows our lives already. 00:32:52.97\00:32:55.17 And so us waiting just shows our faith 00:32:55.20\00:32:58.44 and like our trust in Him. 00:32:58.47\00:32:59.81 Yeah, because some people probably don't feel, 00:32:59.84\00:33:02.24 you know, they don't feel worthy 00:33:02.28\00:33:03.78 to ask God sometimes, 00:33:03.81\00:33:05.15 you know, especially 00:33:05.18\00:33:06.51 if they haven't been going to church 00:33:06.55\00:33:07.88 and studying the Bible or something along those lines. 00:33:07.92\00:33:10.42 And a big decision comes up and they're afraid 00:33:10.45\00:33:13.22 or, you know, they don't feel worthy. 00:33:13.25\00:33:14.82 But God's like, hey, I want you to ask Me, 00:33:14.86\00:33:17.63 I want you to know what I have planned for you. 00:33:17.66\00:33:20.96 And it's always encouraging to know that 00:33:21.00\00:33:23.03 like no matter where you are in life, 00:33:23.06\00:33:25.50 God wants you to ask Him what He wants. 00:33:25.53\00:33:29.24 And it's crazy, 00:33:29.27\00:33:30.61 and it just brings so much encouragement, 00:33:30.64\00:33:32.71 and it just makes me feel so much better, 00:33:32.74\00:33:34.54 you know, about coming to God. 00:33:34.58\00:33:36.64 Yes. 00:33:36.68\00:33:38.01 In fact, I was actually just having a Bible study 00:33:38.05\00:33:39.58 with Pastor James Rafferty, 00:33:39.61\00:33:42.08 you may have heard of him. 00:33:42.12\00:33:43.45 Yeah. 00:33:43.49\00:33:44.82 I think we know him certainly. 00:33:44.85\00:33:46.19 Yeah. 00:33:46.22\00:33:48.39 I was talking to him because we're doing some, 00:33:48.42\00:33:50.49 like Bible studies on, you know, like, 00:33:50.53\00:33:53.33 somebody's just coming to get to know God 00:33:53.36\00:33:55.30 for the first time 00:33:55.33\00:33:56.70 and, you know, like, what happens 00:33:56.73\00:33:59.10 when you sin like, or when you feel bad? 00:33:59.13\00:34:01.47 He goes, you know, no matter what in life, 00:34:01.50\00:34:04.31 God wants you to come to Him. 00:34:04.34\00:34:06.84 In fact, it's actually Satan that makes you feel like 00:34:06.88\00:34:09.74 you're not worthy to go to Him in any form, or any way. 00:34:09.78\00:34:13.48 So, when God asked you, like, come to him, 00:34:13.52\00:34:16.08 no matter what you've done, 00:34:16.12\00:34:17.45 no matter where you are in life, 00:34:17.49\00:34:18.82 it just makes me feel so much better. 00:34:18.85\00:34:20.89 Yeah. 00:34:20.92\00:34:22.52 And, you know, going back 00:34:22.56\00:34:25.66 to what everyone has been saying here is that, 00:34:25.69\00:34:28.00 you know, God knows the very number of hairs 00:34:28.03\00:34:29.70 on our head. 00:34:29.73\00:34:31.07 Yeah, exactly. 00:34:31.10\00:34:32.43 You know, He talks about us being wonderfully made, 00:34:32.47\00:34:35.00 you know, so it's like, we can trust God. 00:34:35.04\00:34:37.34 Yeah. 00:34:37.37\00:34:38.71 Because we know He created us. 00:34:38.74\00:34:40.08 We know He wants the best for us 00:34:40.11\00:34:41.48 and that's just like you said, that's an amazing thing. 00:34:41.51\00:34:44.51 It's a great, great thing. 00:34:44.55\00:34:46.51 We were also talking, you know, waiting on the Lord 00:34:46.55\00:34:48.68 has a lot of different meanings too 00:34:48.72\00:34:51.55 because we were talking like 00:34:51.59\00:34:52.92 waiting on the Lord has, 00:34:52.95\00:34:54.29 you know, that's also trusting in the Lord. 00:34:54.32\00:34:57.23 Yeah, having faith in God, 00:34:57.26\00:34:58.83 what was some of the other ones we were talking about? 00:34:58.86\00:35:00.66 I know that we were up in the lunchroom 00:35:00.70\00:35:03.23 just discussing some of these. 00:35:03.26\00:35:04.60 So, yeah, yeah. 00:35:04.63\00:35:06.07 So what were some of the other ones? 00:35:06.10\00:35:07.44 So there's trust, faith... Patience was one. 00:35:07.47\00:35:10.27 Patience, that was... Yeah. 00:35:10.31\00:35:12.44 And, you know, it just goes, 00:35:12.47\00:35:14.64 this topic of waiting on the Lord it's just, 00:35:14.68\00:35:16.75 it's a huge scope of many different aspects 00:35:16.78\00:35:20.52 of Christianity, you know? 00:35:20.55\00:35:23.45 Have that relationship with God. 00:35:23.49\00:35:24.89 Exactly. 00:35:24.92\00:35:27.22 You know, because we do have to trust, 00:35:27.26\00:35:28.96 we do have to be patient and we do need to have faith 00:35:28.99\00:35:32.09 and that all is like a recipe for waiting. 00:35:32.13\00:35:35.46 It is. 00:35:35.50\00:35:37.17 That's a good way to put it, recipe. 00:35:37.20\00:35:41.70 Brandon has some of the best analogies. 00:35:41.74\00:35:46.17 He was making us laugh up in the conference room up there 00:35:46.21\00:35:50.68 when we were studying this out. 00:35:50.71\00:35:52.15 I'll tell you what, 00:35:52.18\00:35:53.52 his analogies are awesome, but anyway. 00:35:53.55\00:35:55.15 All right. 00:35:55.18\00:35:56.52 So let's talk about something that we can all fall, 00:35:56.55\00:35:59.55 you know, into this trap is that presumption... 00:35:59.59\00:36:03.39 That's a big one. 00:36:03.43\00:36:04.76 And how our assumptions or presumptions 00:36:04.79\00:36:07.53 can fall into how we think 00:36:07.56\00:36:09.96 when we're waiting on God, 00:36:10.00\00:36:11.33 how maybe something is answered from God. 00:36:11.37\00:36:14.20 Yeah, like, how do we react when we get the answer 00:36:14.24\00:36:17.54 or if we kind of know the answer, 00:36:17.57\00:36:19.64 does that kind of change how, 00:36:19.67\00:36:21.88 you know, how we wait on Him? 00:36:21.91\00:36:25.08 You know, are we going to be like, 00:36:25.11\00:36:27.85 Oh, I really want to go to this concert 00:36:27.88\00:36:29.92 but maybe God doesn't want me to, you know? 00:36:29.95\00:36:33.02 Sometimes people don't even want to ask God, 00:36:33.05\00:36:34.89 you know, should I go to the concert, 00:36:34.92\00:36:36.36 because they already know the answer. 00:36:36.39\00:36:38.33 So it kind of puts us this, you know, presumption of dread, 00:36:38.36\00:36:43.50 you know, waiting on God for that answer. 00:36:43.53\00:36:45.27 It's like, I already know the answer. 00:36:45.30\00:36:47.07 But the biggest one is, 00:36:47.10\00:36:48.44 how do we react when we get that answer? 00:36:48.47\00:36:52.21 You know, especially, I think the biggest one people 00:36:52.24\00:36:54.54 struggle with is loved ones in the hospital. 00:36:54.58\00:36:58.65 Especially, you know, what's going on these days, 00:36:58.68\00:37:01.55 you know, with all the sickness going around, 00:37:01.58\00:37:03.42 and people are just really needing to trust in God, 00:37:03.45\00:37:07.22 and when their prayers feel like they're not heard, 00:37:07.26\00:37:11.63 you know, how do you deal with that? 00:37:11.66\00:37:13.60 And I think that's one of the biggest things. 00:37:13.63\00:37:15.40 I mean, how would you guys deal with that? 00:37:15.43\00:37:16.97 Do we still trust in God 00:37:17.00\00:37:18.33 even if we didn't get our answers? 00:37:18.37\00:37:21.20 You may never know the answer until heaven. 00:37:21.24\00:37:25.91 And that's where it comes to trusting God 00:37:25.94\00:37:28.01 with your relationship with Him, 00:37:28.04\00:37:29.44 knowing that He knows what's best. 00:37:29.48\00:37:33.21 I can think of an example, like, 00:37:33.25\00:37:36.62 there was a time when you were in the hospital, 00:37:36.65\00:37:38.89 and I'm sure many people have had this experience 00:37:38.92\00:37:41.42 with the family loved one 00:37:41.46\00:37:43.83 and you waiting a lot of times for test results. 00:37:43.86\00:37:47.90 It's like, what do you do? 00:37:47.93\00:37:49.26 All you can do at least just pray at that time? 00:37:49.30\00:37:51.23 Yeah. 00:37:51.27\00:37:52.60 Pray and have faith that God knows what's best. 00:37:52.63\00:37:55.54 There are so many scripture verses 00:37:55.57\00:37:57.17 that I love that, 00:37:57.21\00:37:59.97 like, for example, Psalm 27:14, "Wait on the Lord, 00:38:00.01\00:38:03.91 be of good courage, He will strengthen your heart, 00:38:03.95\00:38:07.12 wait, I say, on the Lord." 00:38:07.15\00:38:08.82 And that's sometimes all we can do. 00:38:08.85\00:38:11.09 Yeah, and, you know, it's crazy, 00:38:11.12\00:38:13.49 because there's a story that my dad told me, 00:38:13.52\00:38:17.49 some of his friends, 00:38:17.53\00:38:19.76 they had a child that was going through cancer, 00:38:19.79\00:38:23.43 you know, like a special type of cancer. 00:38:23.47\00:38:25.33 And, you know, it's crazy 00:38:25.37\00:38:27.57 because they weren't very Christian 00:38:27.60\00:38:30.41 during this time and it wasn't until, 00:38:30.44\00:38:34.48 you know, 'cause they were praying. 00:38:34.51\00:38:35.84 Oh, Lord, you know, we really want our son to live, 00:38:35.88\00:38:39.38 but it never, it never happened, 00:38:39.41\00:38:41.35 you know, and he ended up dying. 00:38:41.38\00:38:43.22 But, you know, it's craziest through the whole experience, 00:38:43.25\00:38:46.62 they split up. 00:38:46.65\00:38:47.99 The parents split up, 00:38:48.02\00:38:49.36 and it was a really hard experience 00:38:49.39\00:38:51.49 but the father actually started bringing his life back together 00:38:51.53\00:38:56.67 and, you know, started going to church again, 00:38:56.70\00:38:59.87 after a while. 00:38:59.90\00:39:01.47 It's been a couple of years, but he started going to church, 00:39:01.50\00:39:03.34 and he put his faith into God entirely. 00:39:03.37\00:39:06.07 And it's crazy to think 'cause he says, 00:39:06.11\00:39:08.48 you know, Brandon, if... 00:39:08.51\00:39:10.18 Sorry, to my father, pardon me, 00:39:10.21\00:39:13.45 'cause you know, if he hadn't died, 00:39:13.48\00:39:17.85 I don't think I would have ever come to God. 00:39:17.89\00:39:20.56 And, you know, it's a crazy experience. 00:39:20.59\00:39:23.49 So you never know 00:39:23.53\00:39:25.36 how something is going to affect it in another way 00:39:25.39\00:39:29.03 and we may not even see it. 00:39:29.06\00:39:31.47 So always, you know, always trust in God, 00:39:31.50\00:39:33.70 even if it's not the answer that you're looking for. 00:39:33.74\00:39:37.97 No, I was gonna say sometimes on, 00:39:38.01\00:39:40.38 like the hardships and things we go through, 00:39:40.41\00:39:42.98 the blessing comes after. 00:39:43.01\00:39:44.48 Yes. 00:39:44.51\00:39:45.85 Sometimes the waiting really is for our sake. 00:39:45.88\00:39:47.42 Yeah. Right. 00:39:47.45\00:39:48.78 It is. Yeah. 00:39:48.82\00:39:50.15 It is. 00:39:50.19\00:39:51.52 You know, there was a story, our brother-in-law, Elijah, 00:39:51.55\00:39:54.12 or my brother-in-law, sorry your brother. 00:39:54.16\00:39:57.59 He was wanting to go to Tennessee. 00:39:57.63\00:39:59.83 And we were trying to get a car rental 00:39:59.86\00:40:04.00 and all these car rentals 00:40:04.03\00:40:06.10 we just could not get a car to give out to, 00:40:06.13\00:40:08.87 so he could drive to Illinois because we only got one car. 00:40:08.90\00:40:11.11 So if he took our car, we would have been carless 00:40:11.14\00:40:13.27 for the whole weekend. 00:40:13.31\00:40:14.64 And he was like, he was really trying to get a car 00:40:14.68\00:40:16.95 and so I prayed with him, 00:40:16.98\00:40:18.31 I was like, you know, Lord 00:40:18.35\00:40:19.68 if you don't want him to have a car, 00:40:19.71\00:40:21.05 make it really known. 00:40:21.08\00:40:22.42 And he did like, nothing was available. 00:40:22.45\00:40:23.79 It was so weird, like 00:40:23.82\00:40:25.15 we're going to all these different car rentals 00:40:25.19\00:40:26.99 and it was just some little thing 00:40:27.02\00:40:28.76 like little something. 00:40:28.79\00:40:30.49 What? Yeah, exactly. 00:40:30.53\00:40:32.16 Yeah, and so, he ended up flying out 00:40:32.19\00:40:35.10 but it was that weekend 00:40:35.13\00:40:37.23 that the big tornado hit in Kentucky. 00:40:37.27\00:40:39.27 And that was on his way. 00:40:39.30\00:40:41.47 He was going through Kentucky to Tennessee. 00:40:41.50\00:40:44.54 And it's just like, wow, you know, God really. 00:40:44.57\00:40:47.34 And we were discouraged. 00:40:47.38\00:40:48.71 We were like, come on God, just give us a car, please. 00:40:48.74\00:40:51.31 We were waiting for like hours this to happen. 00:40:51.35\00:40:54.62 It was crazy and, you know, He kept him safe. 00:40:54.65\00:40:57.22 I couldn't believe it. 00:40:57.25\00:40:58.59 So always, always know that God has... 00:40:58.62\00:41:02.69 He's got your back. 00:41:02.72\00:41:04.39 That is like, wow, 00:41:04.43\00:41:05.79 that's a powerful testimony right there. 00:41:05.83\00:41:07.70 I bet he was happy, God didn't listen. 00:41:07.73\00:41:09.43 It's amazing. 00:41:09.46\00:41:10.80 Wow. 00:41:10.83\00:41:12.17 You know, when I think about that, Brandon, 00:41:12.20\00:41:14.07 you were talking about sickness, 00:41:14.10\00:41:15.44 and my grandma had recently passed away. 00:41:15.47\00:41:17.04 Oh, I'm sorry. 00:41:17.07\00:41:18.94 My grandma always said that 00:41:18.97\00:41:20.31 she would live to 100 years old. 00:41:20.34\00:41:21.71 Said I'm gonna live to 100. 00:41:21.74\00:41:23.61 You know, my grandma had a lot of health issues, 00:41:23.65\00:41:25.78 you know, and I think something that 00:41:25.81\00:41:28.88 when we wait on God, 00:41:28.92\00:41:30.25 you know, of course, we prayed for healing 00:41:30.29\00:41:31.62 and we pray for God to help her 00:41:31.65\00:41:33.36 but sometimes, like, if that's not God's answer, 00:41:33.39\00:41:36.02 just trusting in His will. 00:41:36.06\00:41:37.93 There's a reason for that. 00:41:37.96\00:41:39.56 You know, I think of the story of Lazarus. 00:41:39.59\00:41:43.57 You know, Mary and Martha were waiting on Jesus. 00:41:43.60\00:41:48.47 Jesus, please, he's gonna die. 00:41:48.50\00:41:50.21 You gotta come and heal him. Yeah. 00:41:50.24\00:41:51.71 Especially, since they've seen all the people getting healed 00:41:51.74\00:41:53.91 of their sickness. 00:41:53.94\00:41:55.28 And they're like, come quickly or he's going to die. 00:41:55.31\00:41:57.01 And it's so interesting. 00:41:57.05\00:41:58.38 I'm going to start here. It's in John Chapter 11. 00:41:58.41\00:42:00.58 If you guys want to turn your Bibles there. 00:42:00.62\00:42:01.98 John Chapter 11 is where the story of Lazarus 00:42:02.02\00:42:05.09 is talked about. 00:42:05.12\00:42:06.76 And I'm going to start in verse 17. 00:42:06.79\00:42:09.19 It says, "So when Jesus came, 00:42:09.22\00:42:11.29 He found that he had already been in the tomb 00:42:11.33\00:42:12.89 for four days." 00:42:12.93\00:42:14.26 So Lazarus had been dead 00:42:14.30\00:42:15.63 for four days already. 00:42:15.66\00:42:17.00 He was already decaying and all kinds of things 00:42:17.03\00:42:19.57 are happening obviously, 00:42:19.60\00:42:20.94 when your body dies. 00:42:20.97\00:42:22.97 Verse 18, "Now Bethany was near Jerusalem, 00:42:23.00\00:42:25.01 about two miles away. 00:42:25.04\00:42:26.57 And many of the Jews had joined the women 00:42:26.61\00:42:28.18 around Martha and Mary to comfort them 00:42:28.21\00:42:29.81 concerning their brother, 00:42:29.84\00:42:31.18 then Martha, as soon as she heard 00:42:31.21\00:42:32.78 that Jesus was coming, 00:42:32.81\00:42:34.15 went and met Him, 00:42:34.18\00:42:35.52 but Mary was sitting in the house. 00:42:35.55\00:42:36.89 Sounds like Mary didn't want to talk to Jesus. 00:42:36.92\00:42:38.25 Yeah. 00:42:38.29\00:42:39.82 Been there. 00:42:39.85\00:42:41.19 "Now Martha said to Jesus, Lord, if you had been here, 00:42:41.22\00:42:43.29 my brother would not have died." 00:42:43.32\00:42:45.19 Yeah. 00:42:45.23\00:42:46.56 And then it says, "But even now, 00:42:46.59\00:42:48.50 I know that whatever you ask of God, 00:42:48.53\00:42:50.63 God will give you. 00:42:50.67\00:42:52.00 So right here, we can see that 00:42:52.03\00:42:54.70 Martha seems to have a little ounce of faith. 00:42:54.74\00:42:57.51 She's believing in something, right? 00:42:57.54\00:43:01.28 And then it says, Jesus said to her, 00:43:01.31\00:43:02.84 "Your brother will rise again." 00:43:02.88\00:43:04.21 Martha said to him, "I know that he will rise again 00:43:04.25\00:43:06.51 in the resurrection at the last day." 00:43:06.55\00:43:09.08 So Martha, whether it was now 00:43:09.12\00:43:12.49 or at the resurrection, 00:43:12.52\00:43:13.86 she knew he was gonna rise at some point, 00:43:13.89\00:43:15.22 so she had that faith regardless. 00:43:15.26\00:43:17.59 "And Jesus said to her, 00:43:17.63\00:43:18.96 'I am the resurrection and the life, 00:43:18.99\00:43:20.33 he who believes in Me, though he may die shall live. 00:43:20.36\00:43:23.10 And whoever lives and believes in Me shall never die. 00:43:23.13\00:43:25.67 Do you believe this?' 00:43:25.70\00:43:27.04 She said to Him, 'Yes, Lord, 00:43:27.07\00:43:28.40 I believe that You are the Christ, 00:43:28.44\00:43:29.77 the Son of God, 00:43:29.80\00:43:31.14 who is to come into the world.'" 00:43:31.17\00:43:32.57 Verse 28, 00:43:32.61\00:43:33.94 "And when she had said these things, 00:43:33.98\00:43:35.84 she went her way and secretly called Mary, 00:43:35.88\00:43:37.78 her sister saying, 00:43:37.81\00:43:39.15 'The Teacher has come and is calling for you.' 00:43:39.18\00:43:40.52 As soon as she heard that, 00:43:40.55\00:43:41.95 she arose quickly and came to Him. 00:43:41.98\00:43:43.92 Now Jesus had not yet come into the town, 00:43:43.95\00:43:46.09 but was in the place where Martha met Him. 00:43:46.12\00:43:48.26 Verse 31, "Then the Jews who were with her in the house, 00:43:48.29\00:43:51.73 and comforting her, when they saw that 00:43:51.76\00:43:53.09 Mary rose up quickly and went out, 00:43:53.13\00:43:54.96 followed her, saying, 00:43:55.00\00:43:56.33 'She is going to the tomb to weep there.' 00:43:56.36\00:43:58.50 Then, when Mary came where Jesus was, 00:43:58.53\00:44:00.47 and saw Him, she fell down at His feet, 00:44:00.50\00:44:02.44 saying to Him, 'Lord, if You had been here, 00:44:02.47\00:44:04.34 my brother would not have died.'" 00:44:04.37\00:44:06.34 You could just feel the resentment. 00:44:06.37\00:44:07.74 Yeah, and I don't think, I mean, 00:44:07.78\00:44:09.28 there was obviously that mourning 00:44:09.31\00:44:11.18 but I almost get a sense of maybe a little bit of anger. 00:44:11.21\00:44:15.72 Oh, definitely. A little bit here. 00:44:15.75\00:44:17.29 I know that people get angry 00:44:17.32\00:44:18.89 if they don't get their answers right away. 00:44:18.92\00:44:21.02 That's true. 00:44:21.06\00:44:22.39 You know, like, going back to people 00:44:22.42\00:44:25.56 being in the hospital and somebody passes away. 00:44:25.59\00:44:27.96 I know so many people that actually turn away from God 00:44:28.00\00:44:31.63 because they're so angry that they let them die. 00:44:31.67\00:44:33.57 And I'm feeling that resentment right here. 00:44:33.60\00:44:36.84 Yeah, exactly. 00:44:36.87\00:44:38.41 And it is easy like even for Christians 00:44:38.44\00:44:41.58 sometimes to get angry or upset at God for, 00:44:41.61\00:44:44.95 you know, oh, Lord, you know, I needed this 00:44:44.98\00:44:47.15 or, Lord, you know, whatever this is. 00:44:47.18\00:44:49.08 In some ways, how dare we tell God? 00:44:49.12\00:44:52.49 You know this and you know that, 00:44:52.52\00:44:54.39 why didn't you do this 00:44:54.42\00:44:55.76 as if we know any better than he does. 00:44:55.79\00:44:57.39 You know what I mean? 00:44:57.43\00:44:58.76 But it's really interesting but continuing the story here. 00:44:58.79\00:45:02.90 It says, "Therefore, when Jesus saw her," 00:45:02.93\00:45:04.83 in verse 33, 00:45:04.87\00:45:06.33 "weeping and the Jews who came with her weeping, 00:45:06.37\00:45:08.37 He groaned in the spirit and was troubled." 00:45:08.40\00:45:10.61 So Jesus was troubled here. 00:45:10.64\00:45:12.61 "And He said, 'Where have you laid him?' 00:45:12.64\00:45:14.58 They said to Him, 'Lord, come and see.' 00:45:14.61\00:45:16.28 Jesus wept." 00:45:16.31\00:45:17.65 The shortest verse in the Bible. 00:45:17.68\00:45:19.01 Jesus wept, there it is, folks. 00:45:19.05\00:45:21.65 "Then the Jew said, 'See how He loved him!' 00:45:21.68\00:45:24.79 And some of them said, 'Could not this Man, 00:45:24.82\00:45:27.02 who opened the eyes of the blind, 00:45:27.06\00:45:28.49 also have kept this man from dying?'" 00:45:28.52\00:45:30.76 So clearly, they knew some of the miracles 00:45:30.79\00:45:32.69 that Jesus had already performed. 00:45:32.73\00:45:35.03 Then it says, "Then Jesus, again groaning in Himself, 00:45:35.06\00:45:37.60 came to the tomb. 00:45:37.63\00:45:38.97 It was a cave, and a stone lay against it. 00:45:39.00\00:45:41.17 Jesus said, 'Take away the stone.' 00:45:41.20\00:45:42.77 Martha, the sister of him who was dead, 00:45:42.80\00:45:44.74 said to Him, 'Lord, by this time there is a stench, 00:45:44.77\00:45:47.98 for he has been dead for four days.'" 00:45:48.01\00:45:49.58 I mean, you look at the crime investigations on TV, 00:45:49.61\00:45:52.81 you know, or any, like doctors, 00:45:52.85\00:45:55.08 if they're just like, one day of somebody dead in the house, 00:45:55.12\00:45:58.29 you already get that smell. 00:45:58.32\00:45:59.65 I mean, just imagine four whole days in a place 00:45:59.69\00:46:02.52 where the sun's beating down on this cave. 00:46:02.56\00:46:05.09 There's no ventilation in there. 00:46:05.13\00:46:07.50 It's hot, it's humid. 00:46:07.53\00:46:09.13 It's probably maggots, 00:46:09.16\00:46:10.50 or who knows what's in there, you know? 00:46:10.53\00:46:12.90 And on top of that, they would wrap the bodies 00:46:12.93\00:46:15.60 in linen and all that type of stuff, 00:46:15.64\00:46:17.44 different clothes to allow that 00:46:17.47\00:46:20.41 natural process of decaying. 00:46:20.44\00:46:23.21 So it says, "Jesus said to her, 'Did I not say to you 00:46:23.24\00:46:25.95 that if you would believe 00:46:25.98\00:46:27.32 you would see the glory of God?'" 00:46:27.35\00:46:29.65 So this is interesting. 00:46:29.68\00:46:31.09 Jesus keeps emphasizing here, belief. 00:46:31.12\00:46:34.96 And how hard is it sometimes for us 00:46:34.99\00:46:36.52 when we're waiting on God to believe? 00:46:36.56\00:46:38.23 Right? Yeah. 00:46:38.26\00:46:39.59 It can be difficult. Definitely. 00:46:39.63\00:46:41.13 I know, sometimes, because we see only in our vision 00:46:41.16\00:46:45.97 so to speak in front of us, right? 00:46:46.00\00:46:47.70 We only see what we can see in front of us. 00:46:47.74\00:46:50.37 And so it can be very difficult to really take that in 00:46:50.41\00:46:54.61 and believe when seemingly everything 00:46:54.64\00:46:57.65 is falling apart around us. 00:46:57.68\00:46:59.01 I mean, he's already dead. He's already dead, yeah. 00:46:59.05\00:47:00.98 Exactly. 00:47:01.02\00:47:02.92 I mean, in that moment, if I was Mary or Martha, 00:47:02.95\00:47:05.65 or anybody for that matter, who was standing, 00:47:05.69\00:47:07.46 you know, at the tomb, I'd be like, believe he's dead. 00:47:07.49\00:47:11.09 What am I believing? Yeah, exactly. 00:47:11.13\00:47:13.13 You know what I mean, to be really honest with you. 00:47:13.16\00:47:15.20 Yeah, yeah. 00:47:15.23\00:47:16.56 So it continues in verse 41, it says, 00:47:16.60\00:47:19.53 "Then they took away the stone from the place 00:47:19.57\00:47:21.37 where the dead man was lying. 00:47:21.40\00:47:23.00 And Jesus lifted up His eyes and said, 'Father, 00:47:23.04\00:47:24.94 I thank You that You have heard Me. 00:47:24.97\00:47:26.44 And I know that You always hear Me, 00:47:26.47\00:47:28.34 but because of the people 00:47:28.38\00:47:29.71 who are standing by I said this, 00:47:29.74\00:47:32.35 that they may believe that You sent Me.' 00:47:32.38\00:47:34.72 Now when He had said these things, 00:47:34.75\00:47:36.62 He cried with a loud voice, 'Lazarus, come forth!' 00:47:36.65\00:47:39.85 And he who had died came out bound hand 00:47:39.89\00:47:42.36 and foot with grave clothes, 00:47:42.39\00:47:43.96 and his face was wrapped with a cloth. 00:47:43.99\00:47:45.79 Jesus said to them, 'Loose him, and let him go.'" 00:47:45.83\00:47:49.66 It's interesting. 00:47:49.70\00:47:51.03 You know, even Jesus is saying, 00:47:51.07\00:47:53.10 I knew that you always hear me. 00:47:53.13\00:47:55.04 But I said this something kind of people, 00:47:55.07\00:47:56.40 like even Jesus prayed and asked, Father, 00:47:56.44\00:47:59.74 Thy will be done, 00:47:59.77\00:48:01.11 even though even before He died, 00:48:01.14\00:48:02.48 He was like, even if I don't want to die, 00:48:02.51\00:48:05.01 but Lord, you know, Thy will be done. 00:48:05.05\00:48:06.92 Yes, exactly. 00:48:06.95\00:48:08.38 And even here, you know, you always hear me. 00:48:08.42\00:48:10.79 And Jesus prayed. 00:48:10.82\00:48:12.15 You know, people think like, oh, 00:48:12.19\00:48:13.99 you know, Jesus is Jesus, you know? 00:48:14.02\00:48:15.89 He's already God, but even He prayed 00:48:15.92\00:48:18.29 when times were rough, 00:48:18.33\00:48:19.76 and a time was definitely rough here during Lazarus' time. 00:48:19.79\00:48:23.80 And, yeah, it's just an incredible story 00:48:23.83\00:48:26.40 of believing in God 00:48:26.43\00:48:27.77 and just waiting on Him. 00:48:27.80\00:48:29.60 Because God has the right timing 00:48:29.64\00:48:31.27 and it was probably more impactful 00:48:31.31\00:48:35.28 during this time for the people believing in Jesus. 00:48:35.31\00:48:38.95 Exactly. 00:48:38.98\00:48:40.32 That's what Jesus is saying here. 00:48:40.35\00:48:41.78 That's what He says in 41. 00:48:41.82\00:48:44.39 Yeah, starting in 41, "He says, 00:48:44.42\00:48:45.75 'Father, I thank You that You've heard Me. 00:48:45.79\00:48:47.12 And I know that You always hear Me, 00:48:47.16\00:48:48.82 but because of the people 00:48:48.86\00:48:50.19 who are standing by I said this, 00:48:50.23\00:48:51.93 that they may believe that You sent Me.'" 00:48:51.96\00:48:54.13 In other words, Jesus was trying to show the people, 00:48:54.16\00:48:56.93 listen, I am God's Son, like I am the Messiah. 00:48:56.97\00:49:02.80 And what's so interesting on a kind of a side note 00:49:02.84\00:49:04.71 of this is that 00:49:04.74\00:49:06.24 after this happened, it says, here... 00:49:06.27\00:49:09.61 In the Bible, it says, the plot to kill Jesus, 00:49:09.64\00:49:11.48 that's the subtitle of the next verse, 00:49:11.51\00:49:13.21 after Jesus raises Lazarus from dead. 00:49:13.25\00:49:16.42 So, it's like, 00:49:16.45\00:49:18.89 you know, this miraculous thing just happened. 00:49:18.92\00:49:21.32 Jesus just brought Lazarus back from the dead in hopes 00:49:21.36\00:49:24.43 that people would have stronger faith 00:49:24.46\00:49:26.56 and belief in God 00:49:26.59\00:49:27.93 and then their reaction is I'm going to try to kill Jesus. 00:49:27.96\00:49:31.70 It's so interesting. 00:49:34.97\00:49:36.30 And a lot of times how often do we have a reaction? 00:49:36.34\00:49:40.84 We were talking about reaction a little bit, 00:49:40.88\00:49:42.64 how we react to waiting on the Lord. 00:49:42.68\00:49:45.65 It's like, oftentimes, how do we react to, 00:49:45.68\00:49:50.49 you know, say it's something we've been waiting for 00:49:50.52\00:49:52.85 or the answer was no, or something. 00:49:52.89\00:49:54.59 How do we react to God in that? 00:49:54.62\00:49:55.96 Do we bless God's name or do we curse it? 00:49:55.99\00:49:59.86 It's like, it happens to the best of us, 00:49:59.89\00:50:03.43 we're humans, things happen. 00:50:03.47\00:50:05.27 We all get in these moods 00:50:05.30\00:50:07.27 where we don't want to believe in God 00:50:07.30\00:50:08.97 or we don't want to trust God 00:50:09.00\00:50:10.34 or we don't want to wait on God. 00:50:10.37\00:50:11.71 And really this whole story right here is a great example 00:50:11.74\00:50:16.41 that regardless, Jesus is never late. 00:50:16.44\00:50:20.55 Yeah. 00:50:20.58\00:50:21.92 He is never late. Yeah. 00:50:21.95\00:50:23.45 And I think that's something to really take away 00:50:23.49\00:50:25.22 from this story is that 00:50:25.25\00:50:26.59 sometimes we feel in our time, 00:50:26.62\00:50:28.79 He may be late or He's last second, 00:50:28.82\00:50:30.46 but He never is. 00:50:30.49\00:50:32.09 In His timing, He's not. 00:50:32.13\00:50:33.90 You know, you brought up an interesting point. 00:50:33.93\00:50:36.03 Do you think it's wrong? 00:50:36.06\00:50:37.60 And I want to ask you guys this, too. 00:50:37.63\00:50:40.14 Is it wrong to get angry at God? 00:50:40.17\00:50:42.50 Obviously, we can still trust and believe in Him 00:50:46.24\00:50:49.11 but do you think when we get that answer, 00:50:49.14\00:50:50.58 do you think it's wrong to be angry? 00:50:50.61\00:50:52.11 I don't know if I want to answer this. 00:50:55.98\00:50:58.22 Honestly, I think it's okay. 00:50:58.25\00:51:03.29 As long as you know, and you continue to trust God, 00:51:03.32\00:51:05.93 I think it's okay to be angry sometimes. 00:51:05.96\00:51:08.53 You know, like me and my wife. 00:51:08.56\00:51:10.13 Sometimes I don't like the answer, 00:51:10.17\00:51:11.50 like, Honey, can I buy this game? 00:51:11.53\00:51:12.87 No, we don't have it in the budget. 00:51:12.90\00:51:14.24 I'm like, come on. 00:51:14.27\00:51:16.27 You know what I mean? 00:51:16.30\00:51:19.31 I get a little angry sometimes. 00:51:19.34\00:51:20.84 And so, I don't think it's wrong 00:51:20.88\00:51:23.45 to get angry at God, 00:51:23.48\00:51:24.81 as long as you keep trusting and believing 00:51:24.85\00:51:27.52 that something else better is going to happen 00:51:27.55\00:51:29.88 and we just may not see it, 00:51:29.92\00:51:31.42 but in that initial reaction, 00:51:31.45\00:51:32.79 I don't think it's wrong to get angry. 00:51:32.82\00:51:34.76 Well, and I think, you know, the Bible doesn't say 00:51:34.79\00:51:37.76 that anger is a sin. 00:51:37.79\00:51:39.13 No. 00:51:39.16\00:51:40.50 It actually says be angry and sin not. 00:51:40.53\00:51:41.86 Yeah. 00:51:41.90\00:51:43.23 And so, there are situations. 00:51:43.26\00:51:44.83 I mean, look at Jesus in the temple, 00:51:44.87\00:51:48.70 where they were basically making it a place to sell items 00:51:48.74\00:51:52.47 and trade items and all that. 00:51:52.51\00:51:54.01 I think Jesus flipping the table. 00:51:54.04\00:51:56.18 I think He was a little frustrated about that. 00:51:56.21\00:51:59.45 So anger is something that I think is a natural emotion. 00:51:59.48\00:52:02.48 God gave us anger 00:52:02.52\00:52:04.95 that doesn't mean we're sinning though. 00:52:04.99\00:52:06.86 No, no. 00:52:06.89\00:52:08.22 And sometimes I think I would say for me, 00:52:08.26\00:52:10.43 it's not that I'm angry at God, 00:52:10.46\00:52:11.79 but maybe I'm angry at the answer. 00:52:11.83\00:52:14.76 You know, because I know 00:52:14.80\00:52:16.13 even I may be angry at the answer, 00:52:16.16\00:52:17.50 but I can still be aware like, okay, God, 00:52:17.53\00:52:20.64 this must be Your plan, 00:52:20.67\00:52:22.27 this must be what's best for me, 00:52:22.30\00:52:24.27 but I don't like it. 00:52:24.31\00:52:25.71 Right, exactly. 00:52:25.74\00:52:27.21 Yeah. 00:52:27.24\00:52:29.21 That's definitely a good difference. 00:52:29.24\00:52:30.88 Because being angry and then just like leaving the church, 00:52:30.91\00:52:33.65 leaving God altogether and be like that. 00:52:33.68\00:52:35.32 I think that's the wrong answer but being mad at the answer, 00:52:35.35\00:52:40.46 but still saying, God, I still trust in You. 00:52:40.49\00:52:42.32 That's the key. 00:52:42.36\00:52:43.69 And we see that with Mary and Martha. 00:52:43.73\00:52:45.06 Yes. 00:52:45.09\00:52:46.43 They were upset at Jesus for being late. 00:52:46.46\00:52:48.33 You know, they were like, Lord, like they still, 00:52:48.36\00:52:51.13 you know, believed in God and all that, 00:52:51.17\00:52:52.77 but they were angry at the outcome. 00:52:52.80\00:52:54.24 They were like, Lord, he's dead. 00:52:54.27\00:52:55.60 Yeah. You were late, why? 00:52:55.64\00:52:57.17 You know what happened? 00:52:57.21\00:52:58.54 So I think, you know, sometimes, 00:52:58.57\00:53:00.61 you know, I think it can be dangerous 00:53:00.64\00:53:04.18 to get angry at God, 00:53:04.21\00:53:05.55 just because that may lead us down some paths 00:53:05.58\00:53:06.92 we don't want to go down. 00:53:06.95\00:53:08.28 Whether that's leaving the church or even, 00:53:08.32\00:53:09.75 you know, not believing in God anymore, 00:53:09.78\00:53:11.79 or things like that, 00:53:11.82\00:53:13.15 you know, it can be kind of dangerous, 00:53:13.19\00:53:16.29 but I think it's perfectly okay 00:53:16.32\00:53:18.89 if we want to say that to be angry at the outcome, 00:53:18.93\00:53:21.43 but still be aware and trust God, like, okay, God, 00:53:21.46\00:53:24.43 I don't like this. 00:53:24.47\00:53:25.80 I don't like how it turned out but I know 00:53:25.83\00:53:27.17 You're working things for my good. 00:53:27.20\00:53:28.64 Yeah, yeah. 00:53:28.67\00:53:30.01 I feel like sometimes, like how you said, 00:53:30.04\00:53:32.27 she says, no, you're like, but it's, kind of, like 00:53:32.31\00:53:36.04 with a parent, like a kid. 00:53:36.08\00:53:37.48 They're like, mom, can I have this? 00:53:37.51\00:53:38.85 And they're like, No. 00:53:38.88\00:53:40.98 And they're still like, upset, but it doesn't mean 00:53:41.02\00:53:43.42 you stop loving them. 00:53:43.45\00:53:44.79 Yeah. 00:53:44.82\00:53:46.15 So it's like when you feel angry, 00:53:46.19\00:53:47.52 it's like your son might be, 00:53:47.56\00:53:49.29 what happened or the answer, 00:53:49.32\00:53:51.26 but it doesn't mean that you don't, 00:53:51.29\00:53:52.63 you shouldn't stop loving him 00:53:52.66\00:53:54.00 and that's where you draw that boundary and like, 00:53:54.03\00:53:56.73 continuation of love, 00:53:56.77\00:53:58.10 rather than leaving altogether, 00:53:58.13\00:53:59.73 like, I don't want this anymore. 00:53:59.77\00:54:01.10 If you're not gonna give me what I want, 00:54:01.14\00:54:02.60 then I'm gonna leave you and go. 00:54:02.64\00:54:05.01 No, that's a good point. 00:54:05.04\00:54:06.84 I know, we only got a few minutes 00:54:06.88\00:54:08.21 but I also want to bring up one point 00:54:08.24\00:54:09.58 that we were talking about 00:54:09.61\00:54:10.95 because I think this is also a really important point, 00:54:10.98\00:54:13.31 you know, for people waiting on the Lord. 00:54:13.35\00:54:17.09 There are prayers sometimes that we expect God to answer, 00:54:17.12\00:54:20.72 but we're not letting go. 00:54:20.76\00:54:22.12 For example, you know, we were talking like, 00:54:22.16\00:54:24.59 you know, Lord, help me not to smoke 00:54:24.63\00:54:26.66 or help me not to drink. 00:54:26.70\00:54:28.13 But we're still putting ourselves in situations 00:54:28.16\00:54:30.23 where it's way easier to do those things 00:54:30.27\00:54:33.74 or we continue to do it 00:54:33.77\00:54:35.24 and we're waiting on God to fix our problems for us. 00:54:35.27\00:54:38.91 You know, Jamie's bringing up a point 00:54:38.94\00:54:40.44 when we brought this up, 00:54:40.48\00:54:41.81 but sometimes God's waiting for us too. 00:54:41.84\00:54:43.65 Exactly. That's true. 00:54:43.68\00:54:45.01 You know, He's waiting for us to have that open heart, 00:54:45.05\00:54:47.32 that open mind ready to be changed, 00:54:47.35\00:54:48.98 ready to have us trust in Him 00:54:49.02\00:54:51.25 before He can start giving us answers and blessing us. 00:54:51.29\00:54:53.76 Yeah. 00:54:53.79\00:54:55.12 That reminds me of a verse in Revelation 3:21, 00:54:55.16\00:54:57.29 one of my favorite verses. 00:54:57.33\00:54:59.53 It says, "Behold, I stand at the door and knock." 00:54:59.56\00:55:03.06 God is knocking at our heart's door. 00:55:03.10\00:55:06.00 "If anyone hears My voice and opens the door, 00:55:06.03\00:55:09.37 I will come in to him and dine with him and he with Me." 00:55:09.40\00:55:13.27 God is waiting for us 00:55:13.31\00:55:15.21 and sometimes we don't realize that He is. 00:55:15.24\00:55:18.31 I mean, He's obviously standing at the door, 00:55:18.35\00:55:20.75 and He says He's calling out to us. 00:55:20.78\00:55:23.28 So that means it's taken a while 00:55:23.32\00:55:24.99 for someone to get to the door. 00:55:25.02\00:55:26.62 Yeah. 00:55:26.65\00:55:27.99 That's true. 00:55:28.02\00:55:29.59 Yeah. Yeah. 00:55:29.62\00:55:31.06 Surrender is important. Yeah. 00:55:31.09\00:55:32.79 And I believe that the more we grow in Christ, 00:55:32.83\00:55:36.67 and get to know Christ 00:55:36.70\00:55:38.03 and our relationship grow strong with Him 00:55:38.07\00:55:39.40 that it's easier to surrender, but our nature is, 00:55:39.43\00:55:41.97 kind of, to do things ourselves. 00:55:42.00\00:55:44.14 We're focused on ourselves all the time. 00:55:44.17\00:55:46.41 Oh, I need to stop smoking. 00:55:46.44\00:55:47.91 Oh, I can do that. 00:55:47.94\00:55:49.28 A lot of times we, kind of, 00:55:49.31\00:55:51.35 push God to the sides, oh, it's fine. 00:55:51.38\00:55:53.35 I'll just not go to the gas station 00:55:53.38\00:55:54.98 and buy cigarettes, you know, whatever. 00:55:55.02\00:55:56.55 And so, it's like, 00:55:56.58\00:55:58.22 and, you know, I'm not picking on people 00:55:58.25\00:55:59.72 who smoke but I mean, these various, 00:55:59.75\00:56:01.46 you know, things can be that way. 00:56:01.49\00:56:03.09 And so, you know, it is really a beautiful thing. 00:56:03.12\00:56:07.16 I think when we get to let Christ into our hearts, 00:56:07.20\00:56:10.70 we open that door as we say. 00:56:10.73\00:56:13.34 And that what happens is we begin to, 00:56:13.37\00:56:16.27 our hearts begin to soften 00:56:16.30\00:56:18.07 and we begin to surrender those things in our lives. 00:56:18.11\00:56:20.44 Closing verse, 00:56:20.48\00:56:21.81 "We shall mount up with wings like eagles, 00:56:21.84\00:56:23.45 they shall run and be weary, 00:56:23.48\00:56:24.95 they shall walk and not be faint." 00:56:24.98\00:56:27.32 That ties right into our opening verse. 00:56:27.35\00:56:29.45 Yeah. 00:56:29.48\00:56:30.82 We could talk for hours on this topic. 00:56:30.85\00:56:32.19 I know. 00:56:32.22\00:56:34.06 Actually, I may read this one more time. 00:56:34.09\00:56:36.52 Isaiah 40:31, 00:56:36.56\00:56:38.33 it says, "But those who wait on the Lord 00:56:38.36\00:56:40.63 shall renew their strength." 00:56:40.66\00:56:42.00 You said renew could also be grow. 00:56:42.03\00:56:43.77 So we could say grow their strength. 00:56:43.80\00:56:46.00 "They shall mount up with wings like eagles, 00:56:46.03\00:56:47.87 they shall run and not be weary, 00:56:47.90\00:56:49.67 they shall walk and not faint." 00:56:49.70\00:56:51.47 So we know that if we trust in God, 00:56:51.51\00:56:55.94 we wait on God, 00:56:55.98\00:56:57.45 that the outcome typically 00:56:57.48\00:56:59.08 is we're going to be stronger in God. 00:56:59.11\00:57:00.75 We're going to be stronger in believing 00:57:00.78\00:57:02.12 and having faith and all of that. 00:57:02.15\00:57:03.92 So we just implore you today 00:57:03.95\00:57:06.12 to wait on the Lord, trust in the Lord 00:57:06.15\00:57:08.56 and everything will work out for our good, I believe that. 00:57:08.59\00:57:12.09 Well, friends, thank you all for joining us today. 00:57:12.13\00:57:13.60 Thank you for having us, Ben. 00:57:13.63\00:57:14.96 I greatly appreciate it.
