We can recall at
points in our own lives

where people have held on
to that trial for 15-20 years.

It's the repetition.

It's their testimony at
every communion service.

And I've
sometimes said to people,

when did that happen?

Wow, I was seven years
old, and I'm now hitting 81.

And I just never forgot that.

They rehearse the
past in a painful way.

I know people that just
never get beyond the trial

because, you know,
God said, Isaiah 43:18,

"Forget the past,
I'm doing a new thing."

We learn from it and go on.

That's right.

It destroys their lives.

I have a family member
who made a statement to me

that I just wanted to cry.

"It's like that
happened yesterday."

And it happened 30 years ago.

So, and you can see
how it destroys your life

when you hold on to a
trial, don't grow through it,

When you stay
living in that trial,
