Go ahead. 00:02:13.16\00:02:14.86 I think back when I was first getting started 00:02:14.90\00:02:17.77 with my family had a young family, 00:02:17.80\00:02:20.30 just got out of college. 00:02:20.34\00:02:22.07 And I was looking for work. 00:02:22.10\00:02:25.64 It's been about two months looking 00:02:25.67\00:02:28.14 doing all the things you need to do, 00:02:28.18\00:02:29.51 get your resumes prepared and send out 00:02:29.54\00:02:31.11 to different locations, and no prospects. 00:02:31.15\00:02:35.48 And I felt that two months had been a while 00:02:35.52\00:02:37.22 and I want to be able to provide for my family, 00:02:37.25\00:02:39.75 just hadn't had anything coming through yet. 00:02:39.79\00:02:42.69 Was feeling very discouraged. 00:02:42.72\00:02:45.56 And I finally decided 00:02:45.59\00:02:48.50 to start talking to God about it. 00:02:48.53\00:02:51.30 And He reminded me that I hadn't asked Him yet. 00:02:51.33\00:02:57.11 Asked Him for any help 00:02:57.14\00:02:59.04 and so I said, okay, yes, I haven't done that. 00:02:59.07\00:03:02.24 Let me ask for help. 00:03:02.28\00:03:04.15 So we're having, I'm having my prayer time with Him 00:03:04.18\00:03:07.02 and had already requested for help 00:03:07.05\00:03:10.92 with getting out finding a job. 00:03:10.95\00:03:12.85 Then the phone rang, in the midst, 00:03:12.89\00:03:15.56 near the end of the prayer time, 00:03:15.59\00:03:17.66 and I sensed I need to go answer the phone. 00:03:17.69\00:03:20.33 So I went out to the phone. 00:03:20.36\00:03:22.03 It was a prospective employer, who had gotten my resume. 00:03:22.06\00:03:27.80 We had a conversation about having an interview, 00:03:27.84\00:03:30.67 the next day, this is a Tuesday morning 00:03:30.71\00:03:32.51 when I had this prayer. 00:03:32.54\00:03:34.21 The next day, went for the interview. 00:03:34.24\00:03:37.05 And everything went well with the interview. 00:03:37.08\00:03:39.45 And then got the job and Friday, I started working. 00:03:39.48\00:03:43.18 So I was very discouraged, hopeless feeling, 00:03:43.22\00:03:47.56 but turned out to be quite hopeful at the end. 00:03:47.59\00:03:50.66 So I praise God for that, 00:03:50.69\00:03:52.06 Amen. Amen. 00:03:52.09\00:03:54.26 What about you, Ryan? 00:03:54.30\00:03:56.16 Well, mine's a little unconventional or not, 00:03:56.20\00:03:59.07 not as a traditional story, 00:03:59.10\00:04:00.50 I guess you would use in a situation like this. 00:04:00.54\00:04:02.70 But for me, I think it was during 00:04:02.74\00:04:05.91 the whole trial of my mom's suffering 00:04:05.94\00:04:08.48 in the hospital and her ultimately 00:04:08.51\00:04:12.08 dying in the hospital. 00:04:12.11\00:04:15.28 Yeah, I remember in those moments, 00:04:15.32\00:04:17.32 there was, it was kind of a roller coaster, 00:04:17.35\00:04:19.95 where you have these human feelings of, 00:04:19.99\00:04:23.26 you know, hopelessness, you know, like, it seems like, 00:04:23.29\00:04:25.53 you know, nothing's looking good and, 00:04:25.56\00:04:27.30 but yet, then you have these surges of, 00:04:27.33\00:04:28.76 oh, you know, God's gonna come through, right? 00:04:28.80\00:04:30.77 And I think what kind of made me feel great, 00:04:30.80\00:04:33.97 before it actually happened before her passing, 00:04:34.00\00:04:36.40 is I have this, I actually have this hopeful feeling 00:04:36.44\00:04:40.38 that God's gonna pull, that's God's gonna pull her 00:04:40.41\00:04:42.28 through this because there's thousands 00:04:42.31\00:04:45.61 of brethren across the country 00:04:45.65\00:04:48.05 and across the world that are praying, 00:04:48.08\00:04:49.48 is praying for my mom. 00:04:49.52\00:04:50.85 And so, but then, of course, when that moment came. 00:04:50.89\00:04:57.53 It's a very, very difficult situation, 00:04:57.56\00:05:02.13 you for a moment, at least from my situation, 00:05:02.16\00:05:05.53 no matter how much faith you think you have, 00:05:05.57\00:05:07.44 no matter how much you know of God's Word, 00:05:07.47\00:05:11.11 the enemy just knows how to come and touch 00:05:11.14\00:05:14.21 that that right part of your human mind, 00:05:14.24\00:05:17.31 your human part of you 00:05:17.35\00:05:19.71 and start to cast a little bit of doubt and hopelessness 00:05:19.75\00:05:23.35 in you and you're like, you know, 00:05:23.39\00:05:24.72 you just kind of feel like you know it's over, 00:05:24.75\00:05:26.39 it's done with, you know our family's broken up 00:05:26.42\00:05:28.52 or it's never gonna be the same. 00:05:28.56\00:05:30.13 It's just this kind of dark, gloomy feeling. 00:05:30.16\00:05:33.09 Yeah. But God always comes through. 00:05:33.13\00:05:35.90 His Word is sure. 00:05:35.93\00:05:37.93 And I just remember in the days and weeks after that, 00:05:37.97\00:05:42.70 the Lord pulled me out of that mire, 00:05:42.74\00:05:44.87 I guess you could say. And He helped me through that. 00:05:44.91\00:05:46.91 And helped me to see the wonderful promises, 00:05:46.94\00:05:50.55 many of which I had read many times. 00:05:50.58\00:05:52.98 But He helped reassure those in my mind that you know what? 00:05:53.01\00:05:55.32 Even though it seemed hopeless, and even though it seems like 00:05:55.35\00:05:58.65 you'll never be with her again. 00:05:58.69\00:06:00.49 I have promised you 00:06:00.52\00:06:02.09 that there will be a resurrection day 00:06:02.12\00:06:04.43 and that this is just a blink in comparison to eternity. 00:06:04.46\00:06:08.73 And so, I have felt that shifting back and forth 00:06:08.76\00:06:13.47 from hopeless to hopeful many times in my life. 00:06:13.50\00:06:17.24 But at the end of the day, the Lord always comes through. 00:06:17.27\00:06:20.31 Amen. Amen. 00:06:20.34\00:06:22.61 Dakota, what about you? 00:06:22.64\00:06:24.65 Well, my specific experience was interesting. 00:06:24.68\00:06:27.52 One that came to my mind was my mother. 00:06:27.55\00:06:29.15 Yes. 00:06:29.18\00:06:30.52 And the situation we went through with that. 00:06:30.55\00:06:31.89 But another one that was a big issue in my life 00:06:31.92\00:06:34.32 was back in like, I don't know, five years ago 00:06:34.36\00:06:36.52 or so is kind of when I was really starting to become 00:06:36.56\00:06:41.16 wanna become full time in the ministry. 00:06:41.20\00:06:43.37 I had been a Bible worker, 00:06:43.40\00:06:45.00 working several years in Bible work. 00:06:45.03\00:06:47.10 And I really had a desire to be an evangelist, 00:06:47.14\00:06:50.54 and to do something, you know, big on that skill for the Lord. 00:06:50.57\00:06:54.18 But I just didn't know how to do it. 00:06:54.21\00:06:55.54 And it seemed like it was hopeless. 00:06:55.58\00:06:56.91 Like, I'm a young guy, nobody's gonna, 00:06:56.95\00:06:58.98 you know, believe that God could use me and all these, 00:06:59.01\00:07:02.08 you know, things that the devil was really putting in my mind. 00:07:02.12\00:07:04.99 And long story short, 00:07:05.02\00:07:06.79 I remember praying a prayer and saying, 00:07:06.82\00:07:08.72 Lord, I want to be in the ministry, 00:07:08.76\00:07:10.56 I want to, you know, really do something. 00:07:10.59\00:07:12.69 And you said, if we ask anything, 00:07:12.73\00:07:14.50 according to your will, it will be done. 00:07:14.53\00:07:16.46 But you know, God's timing is different than our timing. 00:07:16.50\00:07:18.87 And I remember feeling so like, hopeless there for a long time 00:07:18.90\00:07:22.97 like this, you know, I'm never going to have my foot 00:07:23.00\00:07:25.94 get in the door, somewhere 00:07:25.97\00:07:27.31 where I can do something big for the Lord. 00:07:27.34\00:07:30.71 Straight out of high school, 00:07:30.75\00:07:32.08 you know, I was wanting to be a history teacher, 00:07:32.11\00:07:34.25 I loved history, and then God was like, 00:07:34.28\00:07:37.42 "No, no, no, I don't want you to be a history teacher, 00:07:37.45\00:07:39.65 I want you to be a minister." 00:07:39.69\00:07:41.22 And I'm like, "Well, Lord, 00:07:41.26\00:07:42.59 I don't even know how to do that, 00:07:42.62\00:07:43.96 you know, I don't even know where to begin." 00:07:43.99\00:07:45.33 And so, what eventually happened was, 00:07:45.36\00:07:48.30 I had that deep conviction that I didn't want to slay for man, 00:07:48.33\00:07:51.00 you know, I remembered the scripture, Mark 8:36, 00:07:51.03\00:07:53.74 "What shall profit a man if he gained 00:07:53.77\00:07:55.10 the whole world lose his own soul." 00:07:55.14\00:07:57.61 And I just, I felt so hopeless of how to do it, 00:07:57.64\00:08:00.94 how to get into full time ministry. 00:08:00.98\00:08:02.84 And... 00:08:02.88\00:08:04.31 after going to Amazing Facts Center of Evangelism, 00:08:04.35\00:08:06.88 and kind of starting with that. 00:08:06.92\00:08:09.42 I didn't know where to go from there. 00:08:09.45\00:08:11.19 So I just prayed and sought the Lord. 00:08:11.22\00:08:13.25 And before I knew it, 00:08:13.29\00:08:14.62 God has started answering my prayers in time. 00:08:14.66\00:08:17.56 I think He was really building my faith. 00:08:17.59\00:08:19.16 And it's sometimes it's like, God will wait until like, 00:08:19.19\00:08:22.00 you're about to run out of the last piece of bread, 00:08:22.03\00:08:24.40 you know. 00:08:24.43\00:08:25.77 And then He like, he wants to test you 00:08:25.80\00:08:27.54 and He did that with me. 00:08:27.57\00:08:29.57 And it seemed like, all these doors 00:08:29.60\00:08:31.27 and opportunities started opening all of a sudden, 00:08:31.31\00:08:33.44 and I was just so grateful. 00:08:33.48\00:08:34.81 So yeah, and now I see where God's brought me today. 00:08:34.84\00:08:37.88 Here I am, like five years later, 00:08:37.91\00:08:39.25 and I'm just praising His name that I'm able to do His work 00:08:39.28\00:08:43.12 and share His Word with others. 00:08:43.15\00:08:44.59 Amen. Amen. 00:08:44.62\00:08:46.45 My situation was where when I was out of the church, 00:08:46.49\00:08:50.96 my stomach was giving me a lot of problems. 00:08:50.99\00:08:54.20 Like I was in a lot of pain, 00:08:54.23\00:08:56.20 it was getting bigger and bigger, 00:08:56.23\00:08:57.83 and all of that stuff. 00:08:57.87\00:08:59.23 And I didn't know what was going on. 00:08:59.27\00:09:02.50 I went to the doctor. 00:09:02.54\00:09:04.84 They gave me medicine, they sent me home. 00:09:04.87\00:09:06.78 I went back to a doctor again for a second time. 00:09:06.81\00:09:09.48 They gave me more medicine. They sent me home. 00:09:09.51\00:09:12.28 I went to the doctor for a third time. 00:09:12.31\00:09:14.85 Now the doctor that I was seeing, 00:09:14.88\00:09:16.85 he was supposed to be on vacation, 00:09:16.89\00:09:18.75 but he happened to be in the office that day. 00:09:18.79\00:09:21.29 And I use that happen. 00:09:21.32\00:09:23.19 It was providence. Yeah. 00:09:23.22\00:09:26.39 Boy, he happened to be in that office that day, 00:09:26.43\00:09:28.83 he ran another test and he told my dad 00:09:28.86\00:09:31.80 to take me to the ER right away. 00:09:31.83\00:09:34.87 See what had happened was my appendix 00:09:34.90\00:09:37.11 had ruptured inside of me, sealed off my intestines 00:09:37.14\00:09:40.21 and they were about to rupture next, 00:09:40.24\00:09:42.14 like I was close to death. 00:09:42.18\00:09:44.25 And so they operated right then 00:09:44.28\00:09:46.85 and I wasn't a Christian at the time. 00:09:46.88\00:09:49.95 Like I believed there was, you know, God, 00:09:49.98\00:09:52.05 I was raised in the church and all of that stuff, 00:09:52.09\00:09:53.99 but I had left for a long time and was living 00:09:54.02\00:09:56.89 the wrong lifestyle and stuff like that. 00:09:56.93\00:09:58.83 And I remember lying in that hospital bed feeling helpless, 00:09:58.86\00:10:02.30 because, you know, 00:10:02.33\00:10:04.27 my white blood cell count went up. 00:10:04.30\00:10:07.70 So signaling like infection type of thing. 00:10:07.74\00:10:09.70 Yeah. 00:10:09.74\00:10:11.07 And then, I remember my mom helping me 00:10:11.11\00:10:13.11 to the sink to brush my teeth and she began to cry 00:10:13.14\00:10:15.94 because I was losing so much weight, 00:10:15.98\00:10:18.21 I was skin and bones. 00:10:18.25\00:10:19.88 And I didn't know if I was gonna die then or what, 00:10:19.91\00:10:22.72 but if I would have died then, 00:10:22.75\00:10:24.49 I would have been in a world of trouble. 00:10:24.52\00:10:26.45 And so I was laying there feeling hopeless, 00:10:26.49\00:10:28.96 not even able to do the basic necessities, 00:10:28.99\00:10:32.89 you know, like, walk myself to the sink to brush my teeth. 00:10:32.93\00:10:36.77 But God delivered me from that and brought me through that. 00:10:36.80\00:10:41.47 And I'm just so thankful to Him for that. 00:10:41.50\00:10:45.27 We're gonna look at 00:10:45.31\00:10:46.64 some situations in the Bible today, 00:10:46.68\00:10:49.61 where there's some seemingly hopeless situations, 00:10:49.64\00:10:54.68 but then Christ steps in and you know, 00:10:54.72\00:10:58.45 the people get that hope that they've been looking for. 00:10:58.49\00:11:02.06 But before we open the Word of God, 00:11:02.09\00:11:04.19 why don't we have a word of prayer. 00:11:04.23\00:11:05.56 And, Dakota, I'm gonna ask you to pray. 00:11:05.59\00:11:06.96 All right, Brother. 00:11:07.00\00:11:08.33 Our Father in heaven, we just want to thank You so much 00:11:08.36\00:11:10.27 for Your love, Your grace and Your mercy 00:11:10.30\00:11:12.03 for Your Son Jesus in Calvary's cross. 00:11:12.07\00:11:14.60 And we ask that the Holy Spirit would be with us now 00:11:14.64\00:11:16.71 as we talk about, Lord, 00:11:16.74\00:11:18.07 going from the hopeless to the hopeful. 00:11:18.11\00:11:20.61 And as we study, Lord, these stories 00:11:20.64\00:11:23.24 that Your Word talks about, 00:11:23.28\00:11:24.61 I pray that You will help us to have wisdom, 00:11:24.65\00:11:26.68 knowledge and understanding of Your Word and that everyone 00:11:26.72\00:11:29.35 that's watching this at home or wherever they may be, 00:11:29.38\00:11:32.05 if they too will be encouraged and be hopeful 00:11:32.09\00:11:35.32 after we do this study, 00:11:35.36\00:11:36.69 we ask this in Jesus' name, amen. 00:11:36.73\00:11:38.49 Amen. Amen. 00:11:38.53\00:11:40.63 Ryan, I'm gonna ask you to look up Matthew 9:20-22. 00:11:40.66\00:11:46.10 Yeah. Absolutely, 00:11:46.13\00:11:47.47 And, Dakota, 00:11:47.50\00:11:48.84 if you would take Mark 5:25-34. 00:11:48.87\00:11:55.14 And I will take Luke 8:43- 48. 00:11:55.18\00:12:00.18 And, Ricky, if you'll take Leviticus 15:25-27. 00:12:00.22\00:12:06.86 All right. Let's make it happen. 00:12:06.89\00:12:08.89 Matthew Chapter 9, starting in verse 20 to 22. 00:12:08.92\00:12:14.10 The Bible says, "And behold a woman 00:12:14.13\00:12:15.76 which was deceased with an issue 00:12:15.80\00:12:18.47 a disease with an issue of blood twelve years, 00:12:18.50\00:12:21.44 came behind him and touched the hem of his garment. 00:12:21.47\00:12:25.84 For she said within herself, If I may but touch his garment, 00:12:25.87\00:12:30.18 I shall be whole. 00:12:30.21\00:12:31.95 But Jesus turned him about, and when he saw her, 00:12:31.98\00:12:36.92 he said, Daughter, be of good comfort, 00:12:36.95\00:12:39.52 thy faith hath made thee whole.' 00:12:39.55\00:12:42.42 And the woman was made whole from that hour. 00:12:42.46\00:12:47.63 " Yeah, now, you know, 00:12:47.66\00:12:50.03 with the way things currently are, 00:12:50.07\00:12:53.17 with having to be quarantined, 00:12:53.20\00:12:57.27 in this isolation, and all of these things. 00:12:57.31\00:13:00.48 Well, I don't want to jump ahead, 00:13:00.51\00:13:01.98 but just keep that in mind and how we feel today isolated 00:13:02.01\00:13:06.41 and in quarantine, and all of these things 00:13:06.45\00:13:08.95 as we go through this story. 00:13:08.98\00:13:10.45 And the reason why we're looking at it 00:13:10.49\00:13:11.99 in these multiple different 00:13:12.02\00:13:13.86 you know, in Matthew, Mark, and Luke, 00:13:13.89\00:13:16.49 is because... 00:13:16.52\00:13:17.86 there's something a little bit different in each of these, 00:13:17.89\00:13:21.30 you know, some of them get longer, 00:13:21.33\00:13:22.80 some of them are shorter, 00:13:22.83\00:13:24.23 and then there's a little something extra. 00:13:24.27\00:13:26.60 So if you would go ahead and read your verses there. 00:13:26.63\00:13:29.80 All right. This is Mark 5:25-34. 00:13:29.84\00:13:33.88 "This is a certain woman, 00:13:33.91\00:13:35.31 which had an issue of blood twelve years, 00:13:35.34\00:13:38.78 and had suffered many things of many physicians, 00:13:38.81\00:13:41.28 and had spent all that she had, and was nothing bettered, 00:13:41.32\00:13:45.25 but rather grew worse. 00:13:45.29\00:13:47.59 When she had heard of Jesus, came in the press behind, 00:13:47.62\00:13:49.99 and touched his garment. 00:13:50.03\00:13:51.53 For she said, If I may touch but his clothes, 00:13:51.56\00:13:54.93 I shall be whole. 00:13:54.96\00:13:57.07 And straightway the fountain of her blood was dried up, 00:13:57.10\00:14:00.47 and she felt in her body that she was healed of the plague. 00:14:00.50\00:14:04.21 And Jesus, immediately knowing in himself 00:14:04.24\00:14:06.04 that virtue had gone out of him, 00:14:06.07\00:14:07.68 turned him about in the press, and said, 00:14:07.71\00:14:09.64 Who touched my clothes? 00:14:09.68\00:14:12.18 And his disciples said unto him, 00:14:12.21\00:14:13.62 Thou seest the multitude thronging thee, 00:14:13.65\00:14:15.55 and sayest thou, Who touched me? 00:14:15.58\00:14:17.75 And he looked round about to see her 00:14:17.79\00:14:19.62 that had done this thing. 00:14:19.65\00:14:22.82 But the woman fearing and trembling, 00:14:22.86\00:14:24.49 knowing what was done in her, 00:14:24.53\00:14:26.39 came and fell down before him, and told him all the truth. 00:14:26.43\00:14:30.03 And he said unto her, Daughter, thy faith hath made thee whole, 00:14:30.07\00:14:33.54 go in peace, and be whole of thy plague." 00:14:33.57\00:14:36.71 Amen. Amen. 00:14:36.74\00:14:38.47 Wow. 00:14:38.51\00:14:39.84 Now we'll hear from Luke the physician, 00:14:39.87\00:14:42.01 as we look at Luke 8:43-48. 00:14:42.04\00:14:46.11 And beginning in verse 43, "Now a woman, 00:14:46.15\00:14:49.05 having a flow of blood for twelve years, 00:14:49.08\00:14:52.45 who had spent 00:14:52.49\00:14:53.82 all her livelihood on physicians 00:14:53.86\00:14:56.39 and could not be healed by any, 00:14:56.42\00:14:58.39 came from behind and touched the border of His garment. 00:14:58.43\00:15:02.16 And immediately her flow of blood stopped. 00:15:02.20\00:15:05.00 And Jesus said, 'Who touched Me?' 00:15:05.03\00:15:07.00 When all denied it, Peter and those with him said, 00:15:07.04\00:15:09.60 'Master, the multitudes throng and press You, 00:15:09.64\00:15:12.77 and You say, 'Who touched Me?' 00:15:12.81\00:15:15.51 But Jesus said, 'Somebody touched Me, 00:15:15.54\00:15:18.81 for I perceived power going out from Me.' 00:15:18.85\00:15:22.25 Now when the woman saw that she was not hidden, 00:15:22.28\00:15:24.42 she came trembling, and falling down before Him, 00:15:24.45\00:15:26.89 she declared to Him 00:15:26.92\00:15:28.26 in the presence of all the people 00:15:28.29\00:15:30.89 the reason she had touched Him 00:15:30.93\00:15:33.09 and how she was healed immediately.'" 00:15:33.13\00:15:35.63 Notice right there where it says 00:15:35.66\00:15:37.00 she declared to Him 00:15:37.03\00:15:38.37 in the presence of all the people, 00:15:38.40\00:15:39.73 that's not in the other accounts, 00:15:39.77\00:15:42.00 you don't see that so in front of all the other people, 00:15:42.04\00:15:45.97 she declared why she had touched Him. 00:15:46.01\00:15:49.14 And then I love how Luke brings out the fact that for 12 years, 00:15:49.18\00:15:53.98 she spent, like all her livelihood 00:15:54.02\00:15:58.02 on trying to get healed on 00:15:58.05\00:16:02.26 by these physicians and all of this stuff. 00:16:02.29\00:16:05.53 You know, when I think about this particular story, 00:16:05.56\00:16:10.10 I think about the fact that she went 00:16:10.13\00:16:13.10 to all of these other places prior to going to Christ. 00:16:13.13\00:16:19.11 How often do we see that today? 00:16:19.14\00:16:21.48 I know, in my own life, I went, I searched everywhere else, 00:16:21.51\00:16:25.11 prior to going to Christ. 00:16:25.15\00:16:26.48 How often do we see that today? 00:16:26.51\00:16:28.42 And what stands out to you guys in this passage? 00:16:28.45\00:16:32.52 Well, I think it shows to a certain extent, 00:16:32.55\00:16:35.99 a lack of faith. 00:16:36.02\00:16:37.66 Even though when we think of this story, 00:16:37.69\00:16:39.16 we think, oh, what faith? 00:16:39.19\00:16:40.96 Right? Yeah. 00:16:41.00\00:16:42.33 But, you know, to a certain extent, 00:16:42.36\00:16:43.97 I think it shows that all of us are capable 00:16:44.00\00:16:46.43 in a moment of thinking that we can do something 00:16:46.47\00:16:50.01 that we can somehow find a solution. 00:16:50.04\00:16:52.27 And that's certainly not that I'm certainly not saying that 00:16:52.31\00:16:54.54 we should not try to. 00:16:54.58\00:16:58.58 We certainly should not do our best 00:16:58.61\00:17:01.15 in practicing and making choices 00:17:01.18\00:17:03.59 that would be good for us. 00:17:03.62\00:17:05.02 Absolutely. 00:17:05.05\00:17:06.39 But at the end of the day, in her situation, 00:17:06.42\00:17:07.96 I mean, this was a, I mean, this was a terminal illness. 00:17:07.99\00:17:10.59 I mean, this is something that would have claimed her life. 00:17:10.63\00:17:12.63 And so it kind of shows, I think her human side 00:17:12.66\00:17:15.16 that she did exhaust all of these other options, 00:17:15.20\00:17:18.13 you know, I'm going to go here, I'm going to try this, 00:17:18.17\00:17:19.60 I'm going to do this, kind of like what we would do, 00:17:19.63\00:17:21.20 you know, with all this new medication, 00:17:21.24\00:17:22.70 I read about this, and oh this, 00:17:22.74\00:17:24.24 you know, this natural supplement, 00:17:24.27\00:17:25.87 I'm gonna try this. 00:17:25.91\00:17:27.24 But at the end of the day, 00:17:27.28\00:17:28.61 she should have just like we should 00:17:28.64\00:17:30.31 go first to Christ, right? 00:17:30.35\00:17:32.38 Eventually, we see that be the beauty of her faith, 00:17:32.41\00:17:36.15 that most of us probably would have been like, 00:17:36.18\00:17:37.89 you know, what Jesus needs to actually physically touch me 00:17:37.92\00:17:40.76 for me to be healed. 00:17:40.79\00:17:42.12 But this lady just said, if I could just reach out 00:17:42.16\00:17:44.59 and touch a little bit of the hem 00:17:44.63\00:17:45.96 of His garment, right? 00:17:45.99\00:17:47.33 I can be made whole. 00:17:47.36\00:17:48.70 And so that's what I pulled from that 00:17:48.73\00:17:50.33 that I see in the story. 00:17:50.37\00:17:51.70 Yeah. Amen. 00:17:51.73\00:17:53.07 Dakota, you have anything you want to add? 00:17:53.10\00:17:54.44 Yeah. 00:17:54.47\00:17:55.80 You know, it set out to be a story where it talks about 00:17:55.84\00:17:57.31 she had an issue of blood. 00:17:57.34\00:18:00.21 Well, that was her issue. 00:18:00.24\00:18:01.74 But we all got our own issues, right? 00:18:01.78\00:18:04.11 That's right. 00:18:04.15\00:18:05.48 And I was thinking about that in relation to... 00:18:05.51\00:18:08.35 her issue was solved when she came to Christ. 00:18:08.38\00:18:11.72 And as you said, too oftentimes we go to all of these other 00:18:11.75\00:18:14.36 means to solve our own issues and solve our own problems, 00:18:14.39\00:18:17.16 when really Jesus is the only answer. 00:18:17.19\00:18:19.53 And I think that when we give Jesus a try, 00:18:19.56\00:18:22.50 we reach out to Him first as this story is, 00:18:22.53\00:18:24.50 our issues too will be solved by faith. 00:18:24.53\00:18:27.00 Amen. Amen. 00:18:27.04\00:18:29.17 I think that... 00:18:29.20\00:18:30.94 her situation is similar to me in regards that, 00:18:30.97\00:18:35.81 I'm wanting to solve that on my own. 00:18:35.84\00:18:40.65 And I think a lot of times, 00:18:40.68\00:18:42.85 God will allow me to come into situations 00:18:42.88\00:18:46.89 to where I can see, this is my issue, 00:18:46.92\00:18:50.66 you're trying to do it on your own. 00:18:50.69\00:18:54.53 And when I finally see that, and that it's not working out. 00:18:54.56\00:18:59.93 Then I go to Him and ask for help. 00:18:59.97\00:19:03.74 And then He resolves it easily. 00:19:03.77\00:19:06.64 But then He reminds me, okay, okay. 00:19:06.68\00:19:09.31 You went through all that whole process. 00:19:09.34\00:19:11.41 Now think of it in a different way. 00:19:11.45\00:19:12.78 All right. 00:19:12.81\00:19:14.15 When that problem comes to you, 00:19:14.18\00:19:16.05 what I want you to do is come to Me first. 00:19:16.08\00:19:18.95 Come to Me first, and I'll solve it for you. 00:19:18.99\00:19:21.56 So that's kind of what I get out of that. 00:19:21.59\00:19:23.36 Absolutely. Amen. 00:19:23.39\00:19:24.73 Amen Will you read Leviticus 15:25-27? 00:19:24.76\00:19:29.93 Were you going to say something, Ryan? 00:19:29.96\00:19:32.13 No, I was just... 00:19:32.17\00:19:33.50 What came to my mind as he was speaking then. 00:19:33.54\00:19:36.81 You know a lot of times and this is, 00:19:36.84\00:19:38.34 I don't know why this popped into my head, 00:19:38.37\00:19:39.71 but a lot of times, you know, 00:19:39.74\00:19:41.38 some people do right the opposite. 00:19:41.41\00:19:44.15 They will come to Christ first, 00:19:44.18\00:19:45.88 which is a wonderful concept in general. 00:19:45.91\00:19:48.42 But a lot of times when it comes to health practices, 00:19:48.45\00:19:51.05 I'm thinking of myself, 00:19:51.09\00:19:52.42 you know God has given us health practices. 00:19:52.45\00:19:53.96 He has given us certain health principles in His Word 00:19:53.99\00:19:56.62 some of which we're aware of. 00:19:56.66\00:19:58.56 And in this case, 00:19:58.59\00:19:59.93 sometimes we'll go to the Lord first and ask Him 00:19:59.96\00:20:01.63 for healing when sometimes He won't heal, 00:20:01.66\00:20:04.13 because we're not practicing that. 00:20:04.17\00:20:06.23 And that just popped into my mind. 00:20:06.27\00:20:08.57 But in this case, she had done the opposite. 00:20:08.60\00:20:11.34 She had done everything that she knew to do. 00:20:11.37\00:20:13.74 And she was at her wit's end, and her only hope was Christ. 00:20:13.78\00:20:17.41 And so she finally goes to Jesus. 00:20:17.45\00:20:19.48 And Jesus is like, all right, you know, 00:20:19.51\00:20:21.18 and she's made well because of her faith. 00:20:21.22\00:20:22.98 And that's awesome. Amen. 00:20:23.02\00:20:24.35 Amen. 00:20:24.39\00:20:25.72 Leviticus 15:25-27, 00:20:25.75\00:20:29.62 "If a woman has a discharge of blood for many days, 00:20:29.66\00:20:33.86 other than at the time of her customary impurity, 00:20:33.90\00:20:37.57 or if it runs beyond her usual time of impurity, 00:20:37.60\00:20:42.44 all the days of her unclean discharge 00:20:42.47\00:20:46.41 shall be as the days of her customary impurity. 00:20:46.44\00:20:50.05 She shall be unclean. 00:20:50.08\00:20:53.72 Every bed on which she lies all the days of her discharge 00:20:53.75\00:20:58.05 shall be to her as the bed of her impurity, 00:20:58.09\00:21:02.82 and whatever she sits on shall be unclean, 00:21:02.86\00:21:07.00 as the uncleanness of her impurity. 00:21:07.03\00:21:10.33 Whoever touches those things shall be unclean, 00:21:10.37\00:21:14.24 he shall wash his clothes and bathe in water, 00:21:14.27\00:21:17.91 and be unclean until evening." 00:21:17.94\00:21:21.98 Now, when you hear that, 00:21:22.01\00:21:24.21 and you think about the present circumstances, 00:21:24.25\00:21:27.78 where there's quarantine, 00:21:27.82\00:21:29.88 where there's this isolation, 00:21:29.92\00:21:31.39 where this, there's all of these things, 00:21:31.42\00:21:33.72 this feeling of loneliness, 00:21:33.76\00:21:35.86 you know, families, kind of, you know, 00:21:35.89\00:21:38.49 separated and all of that stuff, 00:21:38.53\00:21:40.13 people in the hospital and by themselves 00:21:40.16\00:21:42.90 and families can't go visit them. 00:21:42.93\00:21:45.23 When you think about that, imagine this 12 year period, 00:21:45.27\00:21:51.61 a 12 years, 12 years of quarantine, basically. 00:21:51.64\00:21:55.94 Yeah. That's a long time. 00:21:55.98\00:21:57.91 That's intense. That's a hopeless situation. 00:21:57.95\00:22:00.42 That is. That is. 00:22:00.45\00:22:02.38 But it was made hopeful through Christ. 00:22:02.42\00:22:04.35 That's right. Amen. 00:22:04.39\00:22:05.72 Yeah, yeah. 00:22:05.75\00:22:07.09 I mean, that that just blows me away. 00:22:07.12\00:22:09.16 Would somebody like to read Matthew 8:23-27 00:22:09.19\00:22:13.73 as we look at the storm? 00:22:13.76\00:22:15.66 Absolutely. 00:22:15.70\00:22:17.13 You said Matthew 8? Yes, sir. 00:22:17.17\00:22:18.83 And we have verses 23 to 27. 00:22:18.87\00:22:21.10 Let's go there now. 00:22:21.14\00:22:22.47 This is one of my favorite stories. 00:22:22.50\00:22:23.84 Man, I love this story. 00:22:23.87\00:22:25.87 The wind and the waves obey Jesus. 00:22:25.91\00:22:28.54 That's what the title says here. 00:22:28.58\00:22:30.41 It says, "Now when He got into a boat, 00:22:30.45\00:22:32.11 His disciples followed Him. 00:22:32.15\00:22:33.52 And suddenly a great tempest arose on the sea, 00:22:33.55\00:22:36.02 so that the boat was covered with the waves. 00:22:36.05\00:22:39.15 But He was asleep." 00:22:39.19\00:22:42.36 So these brothers, 00:22:42.39\00:22:43.73 who know they're probably out there floating around, 00:22:43.76\00:22:45.23 you know, fishing, and who knows Jesus 00:22:45.26\00:22:46.86 is just sound asleep in the back, right? 00:22:46.90\00:22:49.63 And then verse 25, "Then His disciples came to Him 00:22:49.66\00:22:52.03 and awoke Him, saying, 'Lord, save us! 00:22:52.07\00:22:54.57 We are perishing!' 00:22:54.60\00:22:56.04 But He said to them, 'Why are you fearful, 00:22:56.07\00:22:59.44 O you of little faith?' 00:22:59.47\00:23:01.61 Then He arose and rebuked the winds and the sea, 00:23:01.64\00:23:04.75 and there was a great calm. 00:23:04.78\00:23:07.42 So the men marveled, saying, 'Who can this be, 00:23:07.45\00:23:10.99 that even the winds and the sea obey Him?' " 00:23:11.02\00:23:15.52 This particular story sticks out to me. 00:23:15.56\00:23:19.29 And I've never been on the ocean. 00:23:19.33\00:23:21.40 But there was, well actually, I have been on the... 00:23:21.43\00:23:24.17 I've never actually sailed the ocean, 00:23:24.20\00:23:26.94 like in my own boat or anything, 00:23:26.97\00:23:28.30 but I have been on a cruise ship before. 00:23:28.34\00:23:30.61 And I remember while we were out in the middle, 00:23:30.64\00:23:32.54 I think it was the Caribbean. 00:23:32.57\00:23:33.91 This was many, many years ago. 00:23:33.94\00:23:35.71 And, of course, we're on this massive boat ride 00:23:35.74\00:23:38.11 and you think, you know, nothing's gonna happen. 00:23:38.15\00:23:39.85 Nothing can happen, it's huge boat, right? 00:23:39.88\00:23:42.72 Not that I had, you know, that Titanic, 00:23:42.75\00:23:44.95 you know, image in my mind, like it's unsinkable. 00:23:44.99\00:23:47.56 But I remember we were out in the middle of the ocean there. 00:23:47.59\00:23:51.86 I mean, ever, as far as the eye can see for miles and miles, 00:23:51.89\00:23:55.90 nothing but water. 00:23:55.93\00:23:57.40 And I remember 00:23:57.43\00:23:59.00 they had made an announcement that there might be some, 00:23:59.03\00:24:02.04 you know, tougher waves and waters 00:24:02.07\00:24:03.91 and I just remember 00:24:03.94\00:24:06.11 being on this huge boat and all I could feel just... 00:24:06.14\00:24:10.38 And it was kind of this unsettling feeling, 00:24:10.41\00:24:13.11 but it didn't really come real to me until I went out 00:24:13.15\00:24:15.85 and I looked outside like over the boat dock there, 00:24:15.88\00:24:20.89 over the boat edge there of the boat. 00:24:20.92\00:24:23.09 And you can see how big these waves were. 00:24:23.12\00:24:25.99 And I could imagine if I was in a little jump boat 00:24:26.03\00:24:29.10 or in one of these boats which, 00:24:29.13\00:24:30.47 you know, they were big go boats 00:24:30.50\00:24:32.07 but they weren't like really big, big boats. 00:24:32.10\00:24:33.87 I mean, it was big enough to hold 12 guys and not sink. 00:24:33.90\00:24:36.97 But they were still concretively smaller boats. 00:24:37.01\00:24:39.31 Could you imagine being out? 00:24:39.34\00:24:40.68 I mean, these waves were like six foot, 00:24:40.71\00:24:42.28 seven foot, eight foot tall. 00:24:42.31\00:24:44.21 And it had been lightly raining and you could just tell, 00:24:44.25\00:24:46.88 just the waters were unsettled. 00:24:46.92\00:24:48.55 This story came to my mind and I could imagine 00:24:48.58\00:24:51.65 it was much worse than their situation. 00:24:51.69\00:24:54.36 And so, all they can think of in that moment 00:24:54.39\00:24:56.32 is we're gonna die. 00:24:56.36\00:24:57.89 Hopelessness, right? 00:24:57.93\00:24:59.29 Completely just our lives are over. 00:24:59.33\00:25:01.43 We're gonna get out of here in the middle of this ocean, 00:25:01.46\00:25:03.80 we're in the middle of the sea, 00:25:03.83\00:25:05.20 here's this storm that comes up, 00:25:05.23\00:25:07.07 and all of us is about to go down and drown. 00:25:07.10\00:25:09.37 This is gonna be our end. 00:25:09.40\00:25:10.74 So they go back and they wake Jesus up because I, 00:25:10.77\00:25:13.17 first of all, think about that. 00:25:13.21\00:25:14.54 Who in the world is going to sleep 00:25:14.58\00:25:15.91 in the middle of something like that? 00:25:15.94\00:25:17.28 Right, yeah. 00:25:17.31\00:25:18.65 Only the Son of God, only the Son of God. 00:25:18.68\00:25:20.25 For me that's, I don't even understand that, 00:25:20.28\00:25:22.65 like, how can somebody sleep in something like that, 00:25:22.68\00:25:24.49 through something like that. 00:25:24.52\00:25:25.85 But Jesus was asleep. 00:25:25.89\00:25:27.62 But His response to them is what catches my eye. 00:25:27.66\00:25:31.63 Because I put myself in their situation, 00:25:31.66\00:25:33.40 And I would probably react the same way 00:25:33.43\00:25:35.53 like Jesus how can You sleep, 00:25:35.56\00:25:37.33 we're are about to, this boat about to capsize. 00:25:37.37\00:25:41.14 You know, we're gonna about to die. 00:25:41.17\00:25:42.90 And I could just imagine, 00:25:42.94\00:25:44.44 I don't think Jesus probably yelled at them 00:25:44.47\00:25:46.14 or screamed at them. 00:25:46.17\00:25:47.51 But I could just imagine this, 00:25:47.54\00:25:48.88 this kind of concern look come over His face like guys, 00:25:48.91\00:25:53.82 come on, you know who I am. 00:25:53.85\00:25:56.02 It's Me. 00:25:56.05\00:25:57.39 You of little faith. 00:25:57.42\00:25:58.95 And He just stands up, I could just imagine, 00:25:58.99\00:26:01.22 I don't think it was like peace be still. 00:26:01.26\00:26:02.89 You know, I think He's just like, hey, shew, 00:26:02.92\00:26:05.26 stop. 00:26:05.29\00:26:08.63 And in seconds, in a millisecond, perhaps, 00:26:08.66\00:26:12.90 they go from a hopeless situation, 00:26:12.93\00:26:15.50 to a hopeful situation, like after that, 00:26:15.54\00:26:19.34 it would be hard for me to believe anyone could doubt 00:26:19.37\00:26:22.81 who Christ was. 00:26:22.84\00:26:24.18 Powerful. 00:26:24.21\00:26:25.55 That is powerful. 00:26:25.58\00:26:27.35 Here, like you said, in the storm. 00:26:27.38\00:26:30.49 Jesus is definitely at peace 00:26:30.52\00:26:33.25 because He's sleeping. 00:26:33.29\00:26:35.62 And this is the type of trusting in God peace 00:26:35.66\00:26:39.63 that I want, that I want in my life. 00:26:39.66\00:26:43.57 What a witness that I could be in a trying time 00:26:43.60\00:26:50.11 that could be turbulent in my life 00:26:50.14\00:26:52.04 that I could share with someone else. 00:26:52.07\00:26:56.75 A lot of people they wonder, 00:26:56.78\00:26:59.98 where is God in the challenging times 00:27:00.02\00:27:03.89 of their life when it's raining despair? 00:27:03.92\00:27:08.42 Well, in that example, we can see God was right there. 00:27:08.46\00:27:14.93 And the same situation can be for that person 00:27:14.96\00:27:18.13 who's going through that challenging time. 00:27:18.17\00:27:19.83 God is right there. 00:27:19.87\00:27:21.47 He says in Psalms 46:1, 00:27:21.50\00:27:25.57 "God is our refuge and strength, 00:27:25.61\00:27:28.11 a very present help in trouble." 00:27:28.14\00:27:33.52 So just like how Jesus was next to disciples in the storm, 00:27:33.55\00:27:39.45 He is right there with us during the storms of our life. 00:27:39.49\00:27:43.36 Jesus, He calmed the raging sea, 00:27:43.39\00:27:47.10 He can calm those turbulent waves 00:27:47.13\00:27:49.46 that's going on in our lives. 00:27:49.50\00:27:51.00 And we can be, we can be hopeful 00:27:51.03\00:27:55.34 when we're going through an experience like that, 00:27:55.37\00:27:58.17 we can be hopeful because knowing that 00:27:58.21\00:28:00.28 He can handle whatever problem that we're facing. 00:28:00.31\00:28:05.01 Yeah, I really like that. 00:28:05.05\00:28:06.38 I mean, you have to know who you have in your boat. 00:28:06.41\00:28:09.05 You know, and I think that's, 00:28:09.08\00:28:11.15 that's something that gets missed oftentimes, 00:28:11.19\00:28:13.39 it's like, do we not know who stands with us 00:28:13.42\00:28:15.99 in the midst of these trials? 00:28:16.02\00:28:17.36 Like, can't have anybody better standing with you 00:28:17.39\00:28:20.80 in the midst of this trial? 00:28:20.83\00:28:22.16 Amen. But yet... 00:28:22.20\00:28:23.70 Oh, no, it's over. 00:28:23.73\00:28:25.27 And you know, and panicking. 00:28:25.30\00:28:26.90 So, yeah, I love that story, too. 00:28:26.94\00:28:29.57 And I really love what you brought out there too, 00:28:29.60\00:28:32.81 Ryan and Ricky, you know, 00:28:32.84\00:28:36.24 another person that I think about that has gone through 00:28:36.28\00:28:40.98 some tremendous trials, okay, 00:28:41.02\00:28:46.12 is Joseph. 00:28:46.15\00:28:48.02 Joseph had this wonderful life as a child, 00:28:48.06\00:28:51.93 you know, he was getting, he got the coat of many colors, 00:28:51.96\00:28:55.23 and all of these things like, wonderful life, 00:28:55.26\00:28:58.40 obedient to his parents. 00:28:58.43\00:29:00.67 And then things got rough, 00:29:00.70\00:29:05.01 you know, got sold into slavery by his brothers, 00:29:05.04\00:29:08.81 all of that stuff, but speak to the life of Joseph, 00:29:08.84\00:29:12.08 you know, just what stands out to you about Joseph's life. 00:29:12.11\00:29:16.38 Let's start with you, Dakota. 00:29:16.42\00:29:18.65 Well, Joseph, you know, 00:29:18.69\00:29:20.92 I think he's a perfect situation of going 00:29:20.96\00:29:23.49 from hopeful to helpless and then to hopeful again. 00:29:23.53\00:29:28.36 And I think many of us probably start out that way. 00:29:28.40\00:29:30.47 You know, we start living our lives in school, 00:29:30.50\00:29:32.93 and I think I'm appealing to the young people now, 00:29:32.97\00:29:35.04 especially, you know, you start living your life 00:29:35.07\00:29:37.21 and you got all this hope. 00:29:37.24\00:29:38.57 You know, I'm going to go to college 00:29:38.61\00:29:39.94 and I'm going to get a job or whatever you know, 00:29:39.97\00:29:41.58 and get a really great degree 00:29:41.61\00:29:42.98 or whatever your hopeful experience may be. 00:29:43.01\00:29:46.68 And then things just might plummet 00:29:46.72\00:29:48.12 and you start realizing I got bills. 00:29:48.15\00:29:52.12 You know, Mom and Dad's 00:29:52.15\00:29:53.49 not paying everything for me again, 00:29:53.52\00:29:55.52 and you start realizing all this responsibility 00:29:55.56\00:29:58.29 just kind of seems to swallow you like the whale that Jonah, 00:29:58.33\00:30:01.83 you know, and you don't know what to do. 00:30:01.86\00:30:03.87 And I think Joseph, his whole life is a testimony 00:30:03.90\00:30:07.44 of really a perfect experience 00:30:07.47\00:30:09.50 that not only typifies the life of Christ, 00:30:09.54\00:30:12.81 but is a testimony to all of us that when we study His life, 00:30:12.84\00:30:16.48 we can see in His life, 00:30:16.51\00:30:18.65 there was a dramatic experience that happened to Him. 00:30:18.68\00:30:22.68 I mean, years in prison. 00:30:22.72\00:30:25.12 I mean, he went from... 00:30:25.15\00:30:26.52 he went from not only the pit to the palace, 00:30:26.55\00:30:28.79 but he went from, you know, the heavenly land, 00:30:28.82\00:30:31.99 or the Canaan land, so to speak, 00:30:32.03\00:30:33.40 you know, Canaan land, 00:30:33.43\00:30:34.76 that the promised land to just absolute persecution 00:30:34.80\00:30:38.77 and prison, 00:30:38.80\00:30:41.30 only then to keep his faith the whole time in prison. 00:30:41.34\00:30:45.01 You know, and I just, I think about that, 00:30:45.04\00:30:46.68 and I think, you know, wow, what an awesome example 00:30:46.71\00:30:48.91 of what I want to be in my life. 00:30:48.94\00:30:50.91 And as we look at I mean, there's just so many things, 00:30:50.95\00:30:52.98 I don't want to take all the experiences 00:30:53.01\00:30:54.48 from Joseph's life. 00:30:54.52\00:30:55.85 I know a lot of people's gonna have things to say. 00:30:55.88\00:30:57.22 But yeah, his life is just really amazing, 00:30:57.25\00:30:58.99 really blows me away, 00:30:59.02\00:31:00.36 And he was wrongfully convicted. 00:31:00.39\00:31:01.82 Yeah. That's right. 00:31:01.86\00:31:03.19 But I think sometimes we think of the story of Joseph. 00:31:03.22\00:31:06.46 We don't really fully grasp perhaps how Joseph felt. 00:31:06.49\00:31:11.87 This brother... 00:31:11.90\00:31:14.94 Let's put it in modern terms, prophetic terms, 00:31:14.97\00:31:17.47 where we would say, this brother, he was a saint, 00:31:17.51\00:31:21.54 okay, in the sense that he was one of God's children. 00:31:21.58\00:31:24.55 He kept the commandments of God 00:31:24.58\00:31:26.58 and have the testimony of Jesus Christ. 00:31:26.61\00:31:28.95 He was faithful. 00:31:28.98\00:31:30.32 Joseph was faithful to God, 00:31:30.35\00:31:32.09 doesn't mean necessarily that 00:31:32.12\00:31:33.46 he was perfect in a human sense, 00:31:33.49\00:31:35.39 but he was faithful in God's eyes. 00:31:35.42\00:31:38.89 But yet his reward, 00:31:38.93\00:31:40.60 it seemed probably from a human perspective is man, 00:31:40.63\00:31:44.90 I serve God, and this is what happens. 00:31:44.93\00:31:47.70 You know, because you've talked about going 00:31:47.74\00:31:49.07 from the pit to the palace, this brother went from 00:31:49.10\00:31:50.44 the pit to an even deeper pit, then to the palace. 00:31:50.47\00:31:52.91 I mean, he went from his brothers, 00:31:52.94\00:31:55.74 you know, completely abandoning him, 00:31:55.78\00:31:57.55 and, you know, betraying him to a slave situation, 00:31:57.58\00:32:03.18 from a slave situation to prison for years. 00:32:03.22\00:32:07.59 And then from prison, finally, he was delivered. 00:32:07.62\00:32:10.66 But could you imagine all that hopelessness 00:32:10.69\00:32:13.50 he felt during that time, like, Lord, 00:32:13.53\00:32:15.56 you know what I served You, I kept Your commandments, 00:32:15.60\00:32:17.57 and I honored You. 00:32:17.60\00:32:18.93 And this is what You allow happen to Your servant. 00:32:18.97\00:32:21.37 I can imagine that that's what went through his mind, 00:32:21.40\00:32:23.77 because that's what probably would go through our mind. 00:32:23.81\00:32:25.97 Lord, I'm serving You, I'm doing all that. 00:32:26.01\00:32:27.84 And You allow this to happen to me. 00:32:27.88\00:32:29.81 But Joseph was a faithful servant. 00:32:29.84\00:32:32.35 He did not give up the faith. 00:32:32.38\00:32:33.92 He kept pressing forward in God's grace. 00:32:33.95\00:32:36.18 And that hopeless situation was turned into 00:32:36.22\00:32:38.45 a hopeful situation in the end. 00:32:38.49\00:32:40.86 Amen. 00:32:40.89\00:32:42.22 But look at... 00:32:42.26\00:32:43.96 So he has, I put down 10 struggles 00:32:43.99\00:32:47.83 that Joseph experienced from childhood to adult, 00:32:47.86\00:32:51.23 one, he was hated by his brothers. 00:32:51.27\00:32:53.34 Two, he was stripped of all his clothes. 00:32:53.37\00:32:56.14 His father and his father had made that coat for him. 00:32:56.17\00:32:58.84 Yeah. Cast into a pit, three. 00:32:58.87\00:33:01.74 Four, sold as a slave. 00:33:01.78\00:33:03.45 Five, taken from his home never to return, 00:33:03.48\00:33:08.35 then sold to Potiphar. 00:33:08.38\00:33:11.05 And that brings us to Genesis. 00:33:11.09\00:33:15.06 Can we read that, 39:2-3? Sure. 00:33:15.09\00:33:18.16 So just pause for a moment. 00:33:18.19\00:33:19.53 I had it open to that, actually that's really good. 00:33:19.56\00:33:21.83 Just pause for a moment out of those 10 that I got here. 00:33:21.86\00:33:24.07 So Genesis 39:2-3 says, 00:33:24.10\00:33:27.94 "The Lord was with Joseph. 00:33:27.97\00:33:32.74 And he was a successful man. 00:33:32.77\00:33:34.94 And he was in the house of his master the Egyptian. 00:33:34.98\00:33:38.28 And his master saw that the Lord was with him, 00:33:38.31\00:33:42.75 and that the Lord made all he did to prosper in his hand." 00:33:42.78\00:33:47.89 So Joseph goes through all these trials. 00:33:47.92\00:33:51.56 Now he could have been wondering, where's God? 00:33:51.59\00:33:54.26 Okay? 00:33:54.30\00:33:55.63 Now, in the case of the reader who's reading this, 00:33:55.66\00:34:00.24 someone's reading this and they're wondering 00:34:00.27\00:34:01.60 the same thing, 00:34:01.64\00:34:02.97 God make sure to say right there at the beginning 00:34:03.00\00:34:07.04 in chapter in verse 2, the Lord was with Joseph. 00:34:07.08\00:34:12.31 Okay, saying that again. 00:34:12.35\00:34:15.05 Here this is the same lesson 00:34:15.08\00:34:16.75 that we learned just previously, 00:34:16.79\00:34:18.39 we're talking about Jesus in the boat with disciples. 00:34:18.42\00:34:21.92 And another lesson that we can learn from this text 00:34:21.96\00:34:24.93 is that during the trials, 00:34:24.96\00:34:27.83 we have the opportunity to be witnesses for Christ. 00:34:27.86\00:34:31.27 Amen. 00:34:31.30\00:34:32.63 It says right there in verse 3, 00:34:32.67\00:34:34.27 "And his master saw that the Lord was with him 00:34:34.30\00:34:38.44 and the Lord made all he did to prosper in his hand." 00:34:38.47\00:34:43.78 Amen. 00:34:43.81\00:34:45.15 So we can be witnesses for the Lord in times of trouble. 00:34:45.18\00:34:48.02 That's right. So glad that you said that. 00:34:48.05\00:34:49.88 That is so true. 00:34:49.92\00:34:51.39 You know, people are watching 00:34:51.42\00:34:53.29 how we respond in the face of adversity. 00:34:53.32\00:34:57.43 You know, character is not made in the eyes of adversity 00:34:57.46\00:35:02.93 or in the face of adversity, but it's revealed. 00:35:02.96\00:35:06.03 And so, you know, we're seeing you see different situations 00:35:06.07\00:35:09.94 that may take place and different responses, 00:35:09.97\00:35:13.24 you know, a lot of times emotional, 00:35:13.27\00:35:15.58 immediate emotional responses 00:35:15.61\00:35:18.11 as opposed to Christ like... 00:35:18.15\00:35:22.25 dealing with things in a Christ like manner. 00:35:22.28\00:35:23.75 Yeah. 00:35:23.79\00:35:25.12 And so, you know, I love the fact that Joseph 00:35:25.15\00:35:27.72 no matter what circumstance he was in, 00:35:27.76\00:35:30.03 no matter what situation he was in, 00:35:30.06\00:35:32.99 he remained faithful. 00:35:33.03\00:35:34.46 And he showed that Christ like attitude, 00:35:34.50\00:35:39.00 even in the midst of adversity. 00:35:39.03\00:35:40.60 He was dealt a messed up hand. 00:35:40.64\00:35:42.70 Yeah. Oh, really messed up hand. 00:35:42.74\00:35:44.77 And it wasn't because of God. We got to make that clear. 00:35:44.81\00:35:48.74 You know, a lot of people would want to shake the fist at God, 00:35:48.78\00:35:50.98 Oh, God, you know, You allow this to happen, 00:35:51.01\00:35:53.82 therefore, it's Your fault. 00:35:53.85\00:35:55.18 You know, God will allow things to happen, 00:35:55.22\00:35:56.95 but it's not necessarily 00:35:56.99\00:35:58.32 His plan or His will, or His fault. 00:35:58.35\00:36:00.69 Sometimes He allows things to happen. 00:36:00.72\00:36:03.66 It's very... 00:36:03.69\00:36:06.90 it's one of those things that's just unconventional, 00:36:06.93\00:36:09.13 it's not one of, you know, it's not necessarily 00:36:09.16\00:36:10.53 what he wants, but He will allow it to happen 00:36:10.57\00:36:12.60 for His glory, because He knows He's got a plan, 00:36:12.63\00:36:14.67 you know, He's gonna show up, 00:36:14.70\00:36:16.04 and He's gonna not show out in a selfish way, 00:36:16.07\00:36:18.14 but He's gonna show His glory and who He is. 00:36:18.17\00:36:20.41 Powerful. That's right. 00:36:20.44\00:36:21.98 That's answered 00:36:22.01\00:36:24.38 in the same story. 00:36:24.41\00:36:26.15 Why don't you read that for us? 00:36:26.18\00:36:28.05 Genesis 50:20, let me go there real quick. 00:36:28.08\00:36:32.65 Yeah, there's so many lessons 00:36:32.69\00:36:34.02 that you can get from the life of Joseph 00:36:34.06\00:36:37.36 and how he endured those trials. 00:36:37.39\00:36:39.39 So in this situation, what's happening is, 00:36:39.43\00:36:42.60 Joseph, he's talking to his brothers, his, 00:36:42.63\00:36:46.13 their father just recently died. 00:36:46.17\00:36:48.44 And so they're scared of his brother thinking 00:36:48.47\00:36:51.41 he's going to get revenge. 00:36:51.44\00:36:53.07 But here's what Joseph says. 00:36:53.11\00:36:55.21 But as for you, you meant evil against me, 00:36:55.24\00:36:59.41 but God meant it for good. 00:36:59.45\00:37:02.68 God meant it for good. 00:37:02.72\00:37:04.05 So you may have put yourself in the trial. 00:37:04.09\00:37:09.06 We talk to folks at home, 00:37:09.09\00:37:10.43 you may have put yourself into the trial that you're in. 00:37:10.46\00:37:14.46 Or maybe you just are all out attacked by the devil, 00:37:14.50\00:37:19.67 no matter what the situation is, God can mean it unto good. 00:37:19.70\00:37:24.41 Amen. 00:37:24.44\00:37:25.91 That's good point, Brother. Yeah. 00:37:25.94\00:37:27.28 And I... 00:37:27.31\00:37:28.64 Man, there's so much we can go into with this. 00:37:28.68\00:37:31.81 I just, I gotta say something on this, 00:37:31.85\00:37:33.31 because I was just talking to you guys about 00:37:33.35\00:37:34.68 and it came to my mind again, right before we came on set 00:37:34.72\00:37:37.99 was that you know that, it's during... 00:37:38.02\00:37:40.42 You said it Jason, during our most tried times, 00:37:40.46\00:37:44.89 that's when people look at us the most. 00:37:44.93\00:37:46.26 Yes. 00:37:46.29\00:37:47.63 When they know you're going through a tough time, 00:37:47.66\00:37:49.36 you know, people start talking 00:37:49.40\00:37:50.77 and start calling their friends. 00:37:50.80\00:37:52.13 Hey, pray for Jason. 00:37:52.17\00:37:53.64 He's going through a hard time right now, 00:37:53.67\00:37:55.00 you know, pray for Dakota. 00:37:55.04\00:37:56.37 He's really struggling right now. 00:37:56.40\00:37:57.74 And then people are watching you, 00:37:57.77\00:37:59.11 watching what you do. 00:37:59.14\00:38:00.48 And to see that the decisions that Joseph made 00:38:00.51\00:38:02.14 was really powerful and it was a testimony of the love of God 00:38:02.18\00:38:04.08 in his own heart. 00:38:04.11\00:38:05.45 Yes. 00:38:05.48\00:38:06.82 And it revealed the character of God to the whole, 00:38:06.85\00:38:08.42 all of Egypt. 00:38:08.45\00:38:10.09 And this is like a hostile empire 00:38:10.12\00:38:11.79 that is not God's people. 00:38:11.82\00:38:13.19 Yes. Keep that in mind. 00:38:13.22\00:38:15.19 And so Joseph is like the only one 00:38:15.22\00:38:17.39 that is there that the Bible records at the time 00:38:17.43\00:38:20.10 who actually worships the true God. 00:38:20.13\00:38:22.20 All these other people worshipping Ra and, you know, 00:38:22.23\00:38:24.27 Baal and all these other false gods, 00:38:24.30\00:38:26.37 and Joseph's making it clear. 00:38:26.40\00:38:27.94 You know, I thought of a story 00:38:27.97\00:38:29.30 that I just told you guys about, 00:38:29.34\00:38:30.81 I just want to share it with everyone else. 00:38:30.84\00:38:33.21 So some of my friends at the Ouachita Hills College, 00:38:33.24\00:38:35.78 I don't know if you guys, 00:38:35.81\00:38:37.15 some of the people here watching 00:38:37.18\00:38:38.51 might know about that college, but they were out canvassing 00:38:38.55\00:38:41.32 and while they were out canvassing, 00:38:41.35\00:38:42.68 they pull up in this neighborhood. 00:38:42.72\00:38:44.29 I'm not really sure where it was, 00:38:44.32\00:38:45.65 I think down south somewhere. 00:38:45.69\00:38:47.46 They pull up in this neighborhood, 00:38:47.49\00:38:48.82 and they're going door to door canvassing and spreading out 00:38:48.86\00:38:51.29 literature material. 00:38:51.33\00:38:53.26 Well, there had been some kind of fist in the neighborhood, 00:38:53.29\00:38:55.80 and they pull up in the van, you know, because like, 00:38:55.83\00:38:57.50 they all go in groups, 00:38:57.53\00:38:58.93 and someone thought that they were, 00:38:58.97\00:39:00.90 you know, there to steal stuff, 00:39:00.94\00:39:02.27 you know, because they're walking up 00:39:02.30\00:39:03.64 into people's garages and knocking on the door, 00:39:03.67\00:39:05.11 you know, and trying to access people's door 00:39:05.14\00:39:06.74 and, you know, ring their doorbell. 00:39:06.78\00:39:08.48 Well, the cops were called, long story short, 00:39:08.51\00:39:11.25 the cops come out there and they basically said, 00:39:11.28\00:39:13.28 "What are you guys doing?" 00:39:13.31\00:39:14.65 And they arrest them. 00:39:14.68\00:39:16.02 Well, the cops didn't really believe their story 00:39:16.05\00:39:17.79 that they're out there, you know, to witness 00:39:17.82\00:39:19.32 because who goes door to door witnessing for Jesus, 00:39:19.35\00:39:21.22 right, in groups? 00:39:21.26\00:39:23.02 And so the cops just arrest them. 00:39:23.06\00:39:24.79 I mean, they take their clothes off of them, 00:39:24.83\00:39:26.23 they put them in, you know, jumpsuits, whole nine yards, 00:39:26.26\00:39:29.50 and put them in there with like, 00:39:29.53\00:39:30.93 hard convicts in prison. 00:39:30.97\00:39:33.44 And they're just sitting there thinking to themselves, 00:39:33.47\00:39:35.77 Lord, 00:39:35.80\00:39:37.14 we don't know why this is, you know, happened to us. 00:39:37.17\00:39:38.64 But they have smiles on their faces the whole time. 00:39:38.67\00:39:40.31 The cops, the cops were so upset. 00:39:40.34\00:39:42.28 They're like, "Where are you guys smiling?" 00:39:42.31\00:39:44.65 There's like, "Stop smiling." And they just kept smiling. 00:39:44.68\00:39:49.12 And before they knew it, 00:39:49.15\00:39:51.79 before they knew it, they get in prison. 00:39:51.82\00:39:53.36 And they asked him for a Bible. 00:39:53.39\00:39:55.09 And, you know, I was talking to Ricky about this 00:39:55.12\00:39:56.46 because he does scripture songs and stuff, 00:39:56.49\00:39:57.99 you know, with his ministry. 00:39:58.03\00:39:59.89 They asked him for a Bible. 00:39:59.93\00:40:01.26 They said, "No, we're not giving you a Bible." 00:40:01.30\00:40:03.60 Well, this is where David said, Lord, 00:40:03.63\00:40:05.23 I've hid thy word in my heart 00:40:05.27\00:40:06.74 that I may not sin against thee, right? 00:40:06.77\00:40:09.30 And so they just said, well praise the Lord 00:40:09.34\00:40:10.67 for scripture songs. 00:40:10.71\00:40:12.04 And they say, well, they can keep a Bible from me, 00:40:12.07\00:40:13.78 but they can't keep it out of my mind and heart. 00:40:13.81\00:40:15.84 And so they just started singing 00:40:15.88\00:40:17.21 all these scripture songs. 00:40:17.25\00:40:19.15 And all these convicts and all these people 00:40:19.18\00:40:22.08 in the prison, 00:40:22.12\00:40:23.45 all these like hardened prisoners 00:40:23.49\00:40:24.82 start singing these songs with them. 00:40:24.85\00:40:27.06 Before they know it, they got it like... 00:40:27.09\00:40:28.46 prisoners' choir going on, 00:40:28.49\00:40:30.79 singing all these scripture songs. 00:40:30.83\00:40:32.23 And it was just so encouraging. 00:40:32.26\00:40:33.60 And then by the time they left and got out of there, 00:40:33.63\00:40:37.47 the cops, they were in there for several days. 00:40:37.50\00:40:39.67 The cops in there were just like, 00:40:39.70\00:40:41.14 we cannot believe you guys. 00:40:41.17\00:40:43.51 We're sorry that we did it. 00:40:43.54\00:40:44.87 They're like, we just can't believe that. 00:40:44.91\00:40:46.74 You guys have like, got out prisoners singing Jesus song. 00:40:46.78\00:40:52.75 And the whole time they were in there, 00:40:52.78\00:40:54.55 they just had such a great attitude. 00:40:54.58\00:40:56.12 And they didn't look at it as a burden per se, or as a trial. 00:40:56.15\00:41:00.92 They looked at it as a blessing 00:41:00.96\00:41:02.29 and an opportunity to share Jesus. 00:41:02.32\00:41:04.76 And I think, you know, we should be more like that, 00:41:04.79\00:41:07.63 just like Joseph, you know, you look at that prison time 00:41:07.66\00:41:09.80 as an opportunity to share Jesus. 00:41:09.83\00:41:11.17 Amen. 00:41:11.20\00:41:12.53 Bless the Lord. That is powerful. 00:41:12.57\00:41:14.50 Ricky, I want to go back to a point that you made earlier, 00:41:14.54\00:41:17.01 sometimes we set ourselves up for a trial. 00:41:17.04\00:41:19.97 So like, self inflicted trials Yeah, 00:41:20.01\00:41:24.05 I've had a couple of those in my day, 00:41:24.08\00:41:27.32 so self inflicted trial. 00:41:27.35\00:41:29.98 But you know, sometimes we set ourselves up. 00:41:30.02\00:41:33.05 And it's important that, you know, 00:41:33.09\00:41:34.76 when you think about like Adam and Eve, right? 00:41:34.79\00:41:37.09 Adam and Eve set themselves up for a self inflicted trial, 00:41:37.13\00:41:41.93 because they listened to the serpent and you know, 00:41:41.96\00:41:45.27 Eve ate the fruit, then Adam ate the fruit. 00:41:45.30\00:41:48.57 And then they, you know, they proceeded to blame others, 00:41:48.60\00:41:51.24 you know, Adam essentially blaming God 00:41:51.27\00:41:54.04 and blaming Eve and Eve saying, 00:41:54.08\00:41:57.11 she was deceived by the serpent and all that stuff. 00:41:57.15\00:42:00.35 And that's oftentimes what happens is when we enter 00:42:00.38\00:42:03.39 into the self inflicted trials, it's like, 00:42:03.42\00:42:06.59 well, you know, you try and it's like, 00:42:06.62\00:42:08.86 trying to justify it, you know, as opposed to just saying, 00:42:08.89\00:42:12.36 God, I'm sorry, I messed up. 00:42:12.39\00:42:14.93 I made a mistake. 00:42:14.96\00:42:16.30 You know, 1 John 1:9, "If we confess our sins, 00:42:16.33\00:42:20.07 He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins 00:42:20.10\00:42:23.54 and cleanse us from all unrighteousness." 00:42:23.57\00:42:25.31 Amen. Absolutely. 00:42:25.34\00:42:26.68 Yeah, yeah. 00:42:26.71\00:42:28.34 You know, I think about somebody else 00:42:28.38\00:42:29.84 who went through some trials. 00:42:29.88\00:42:32.81 Daniel and his friend. 00:42:32.85\00:42:34.75 Oh man. Daniel and his friends. 00:42:34.78\00:42:36.79 Why don't we turn to Daniel Chapter 1. 00:42:36.82\00:42:39.45 Let's start in Daniel Chapter 1. 00:42:39.49\00:42:42.76 And let's look at verses 3 through 7. 00:42:42.79\00:42:46.86 Who wants to read that for us, 00:42:46.90\00:42:48.66 Daniel 1:3-7? 00:42:48.70\00:42:54.30 I can get it. All right. 00:42:54.34\00:42:57.04 "And the king spake unto Ashpenaz 00:42:57.07\00:42:59.37 the master of his eunuchs, 00:42:59.41\00:43:01.38 that he should bring certain of the children of Israel, 00:43:01.41\00:43:04.05 and of the king's seed, of the princes. 00:43:04.08\00:43:07.02 Children in whom was no blemish, 00:43:07.05\00:43:09.58 but well favored, and skilful in all wisdom, 00:43:09.62\00:43:12.32 and cunning in knowledge, 00:43:12.35\00:43:13.69 and understanding science, 00:43:13.72\00:43:15.06 and such as had ability in them to stand in the king's palace, 00:43:15.09\00:43:19.39 and whom they might teach the learning 00:43:19.43\00:43:21.66 and the tongue of the Chaldeans. 00:43:21.70\00:43:23.97 And the king appointed them 00:43:24.00\00:43:25.50 a daily provision of the king's meat, 00:43:25.53\00:43:27.17 and of the wine which he drank: so nourishing them three years, 00:43:27.20\00:43:30.71 that at the end thereof 00:43:30.74\00:43:32.07 they might stand before the king." 00:43:32.11\00:43:33.61 You said till verse 7, right? Yes. 00:43:33.64\00:43:35.78 "Now among these were of the children of Judah, 00:43:35.81\00:43:38.28 Daniel, Hananiah, Mishael, and Azariah: 00:43:38.31\00:43:40.58 Unto whom the prince of the eunuchs gave names: 00:43:40.62\00:43:43.05 for he gave unto Daniel the name of Belteshazzar, 00:43:43.08\00:43:46.45 and to Hananiah, of Shadrach, and to Mishael, 00:43:46.49\00:43:50.39 Meshach, and to Azariah, Abednego." 00:43:50.43\00:43:54.73 Now, as you look at that, you can see that basically 00:43:54.76\00:43:58.17 what you have going on here is a reprogramming. 00:43:58.20\00:44:01.40 They're introducing them to literature, 00:44:01.44\00:44:03.84 and they're introducing them to the wine 00:44:03.87\00:44:05.77 and the king's delicacies, and all of that stuff. 00:44:05.81\00:44:08.08 They're even changing their names, 00:44:08.11\00:44:10.78 you know, names back in the Bible times 00:44:10.81\00:44:13.25 held great meaning. 00:44:13.28\00:44:14.62 Yes. 00:44:14.65\00:44:15.98 And so now they're changing their names, 00:44:16.02\00:44:17.59 they're programming their minds, 00:44:17.62\00:44:19.15 all of these things. 00:44:19.19\00:44:21.09 But go ahead and read verse 8. 00:44:21.12\00:44:22.92 And let's look at what Daniel, what Daniel did? 00:44:22.96\00:44:25.89 "But Daniel purposed in his heart 00:44:25.93\00:44:27.36 that he would not defile himself 00:44:27.40\00:44:28.80 with the portion of the king's meat, 00:44:28.83\00:44:30.40 nor with the wine which he drank: 00:44:30.43\00:44:32.10 therefore he requested of the prince of the eunuchs 00:44:32.13\00:44:34.34 that he might not defile himself." 00:44:34.37\00:44:37.54 Amen. Amen. 00:44:37.57\00:44:39.97 Daniel was in a tough political climate. 00:44:40.01\00:44:41.61 That's right. 00:44:41.64\00:44:42.98 And he was determined to stay faithful to God. 00:44:43.01\00:44:46.48 You look like you wanted to say something? 00:44:46.51\00:44:47.85 No, I was just, I was just listening to you. 00:44:47.88\00:44:49.22 Go ahead. Okay. 00:44:49.25\00:44:50.59 Well, let's go to Daniel Chapter 3 then. 00:44:50.62\00:44:51.95 Well, if we're going to Daniel 3, 00:44:51.99\00:44:53.32 I'll take this there if you don't mind? 00:44:53.36\00:44:54.69 Please do. I love this story. 00:44:54.72\00:44:56.06 When I think of, from hopeless to hopeful, 00:44:56.09\00:45:00.90 this is one of those stories that come to my mind. 00:45:00.93\00:45:03.53 I mean, these brothers. 00:45:03.57\00:45:05.57 And just, it's just, it's just an awesome story. 00:45:05.60\00:45:09.34 They obviously are, 00:45:09.37\00:45:10.77 they're already brought to this pagan country, 00:45:10.81\00:45:15.61 the culture of Judaism, Israel, 00:45:15.64\00:45:19.31 in comparison to the culture of Babylon, 00:45:19.35\00:45:21.52 you couldn't get more opposite. 00:45:21.55\00:45:23.62 But Daniel and his friends and many other 00:45:23.65\00:45:25.89 young men and women from Israel are taken to Babylon. 00:45:25.92\00:45:29.59 So they find themselves in this impossible situation. 00:45:29.62\00:45:32.13 But by this time, by the time we get to Daniel Chapter 3, 00:45:32.16\00:45:36.33 because of what had happened in Daniel 1 00:45:36.36\00:45:38.77 and in Daniel Chapter 2 with the vision, 00:45:38.80\00:45:41.67 or the dream that Daniel had, and all that. 00:45:41.70\00:45:43.57 So Daniel, Hananiah, Mishael and Azariah have now, 00:45:43.61\00:45:47.51 they've been elevated to, 00:45:47.54\00:45:50.01 you know, a close favor with the king, 00:45:50.05\00:45:51.38 the king respects them. 00:45:51.41\00:45:52.81 He's been through some stuff with them by this time. 00:45:52.85\00:45:55.15 So you would think, you know, King Nebuchadnezzar 00:45:55.18\00:45:57.39 based on those previous couple of situations, 00:45:57.42\00:45:59.89 he would have in his mind, okay, these are, 00:45:59.92\00:46:01.79 these brothers are legit, right? 00:46:01.82\00:46:04.13 But yet, he's also based on that dream in Daniel 2, 00:46:04.16\00:46:08.40 he's now, he's grown the selfish heart within him, 00:46:08.43\00:46:11.47 because he's determined, 00:46:11.50\00:46:13.10 that had a goal that Daniel saw, 00:46:13.13\00:46:15.20 I'm gonna, I'm gonna build a whole image out of gold, 00:46:15.24\00:46:17.64 I'm going to send a message to God, 00:46:17.67\00:46:19.17 and everybody in the world that my kingdom 00:46:19.21\00:46:21.91 Babylon is going to reign forever, 00:46:21.94\00:46:23.28 we're never going to fall. 00:46:23.31\00:46:24.65 And so, we see the story there, you know, the story of how, 00:46:24.68\00:46:27.45 you know, the 90 foot image is there. 00:46:27.48\00:46:29.95 He tells everyone, you know, 00:46:29.98\00:46:32.05 everyone who's on the plain of Dura all of the wise men, 00:46:32.09\00:46:34.19 it doesn't mention that Daniel was there in the situation. 00:46:34.22\00:46:37.26 So Daniel's not mentioned there, 00:46:37.29\00:46:38.63 but I'm sure Daniel was aware of it. 00:46:38.66\00:46:40.33 But Hananiah, Mishael and Azariah 00:46:40.36\00:46:42.63 are there on the plain of Dura. 00:46:42.66\00:46:44.30 The king gives the command. 00:46:44.33\00:46:46.63 Soon as the music starts playing, 00:46:46.67\00:46:48.97 you know, bow down and worship this image. 00:46:49.00\00:46:51.47 These brothers are now faced with the situation because 00:46:51.51\00:46:55.01 there were consequences 00:46:55.04\00:46:56.75 if you didn't bow down to the image. 00:46:56.78\00:46:58.28 What were the consequences? 00:46:58.31\00:47:00.08 Well, the king had a fiery hot furnace over to the side 00:47:00.12\00:47:04.95 for anyone who didn't want to, 00:47:04.99\00:47:06.76 you know, go along with his plan. 00:47:06.79\00:47:08.82 And so I said all of that, 00:47:08.86\00:47:10.83 because now the music is playing, 00:47:10.86\00:47:14.23 you could just imagine all of these people prostrate 00:47:14.26\00:47:16.93 flat on their faces 00:47:16.97\00:47:18.40 out on the plain of Dura and these three brothers 00:47:18.43\00:47:20.30 just like standing there just like, 00:47:20.34\00:47:22.14 you know, looking around, 00:47:22.17\00:47:23.51 so they stick out like a sore thumb, right? 00:47:23.54\00:47:25.94 And so the message gets back to the king, hey, 00:47:25.97\00:47:28.31 these three brothers out here. 00:47:28.34\00:47:30.35 They're not, you know, going along with what you said. 00:47:30.38\00:47:32.75 They're disobeying you. 00:47:32.78\00:47:34.25 So now the king has them brought to him 00:47:34.28\00:47:35.92 and he tells them, this is what's going to happen. 00:47:35.95\00:47:38.72 I'm going to give you one more chance 00:47:38.75\00:47:40.62 and listen to what they said to the king. 00:47:40.66\00:47:43.09 This is some of my favorite verses. 00:47:43.12\00:47:45.36 Daniel 3:16-18, 00:47:45.39\00:47:48.56 "Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego 00:47:48.60\00:47:51.00 answered and said to the king, 'O King Nebuchadnezzar, 00:47:51.03\00:47:55.17 we have no need to answer you in this matter." 00:47:55.20\00:47:58.54 You know, some people would read that as almost like 00:47:58.57\00:48:02.24 them being sarcastic, 00:48:02.28\00:48:04.31 maybe there was a little bit of, 00:48:04.35\00:48:06.21 you know, a sarcastic tone to them like, King, we don't. 00:48:06.25\00:48:08.98 But at the same time, I believe that 00:48:09.02\00:48:10.39 they were being very sincere for the fact 00:48:10.42\00:48:12.89 that they knew their lives were on the line. 00:48:12.92\00:48:14.52 So I could just imagine them saying, look king, 00:48:14.56\00:48:16.66 there's really no need for us to get into this with you. 00:48:16.69\00:48:19.66 Let me spell it out for you. 00:48:19.69\00:48:21.03 And this is what they say. 00:48:21.06\00:48:22.86 Verse 17, "If that is the case, 00:48:22.90\00:48:27.17 our God whom we serve is able 00:48:27.20\00:48:29.90 to deliver us from the burning fiery furnace, 00:48:29.94\00:48:32.51 and He will deliver us from your hand, O king." 00:48:32.54\00:48:36.95 But notice verse 18, 00:48:36.98\00:48:38.61 "But if not, let it be known to you, O king, 00:48:38.65\00:48:43.45 that we do not serve your gods, 00:48:43.49\00:48:47.02 nor will we worship the golden image 00:48:47.06\00:48:49.52 which you have set up." 00:48:49.56\00:48:51.59 I love this, because what they're saying is, look, 00:48:51.63\00:48:54.43 we're not going to bow down to your image, 00:48:54.46\00:48:56.46 you've threatened our lives, so be it. 00:48:56.50\00:48:59.33 But let us tell you about the God that we serve. 00:48:59.37\00:49:01.50 So we're not going to bow down to this false god, 00:49:01.54\00:49:03.44 because we serve the one and true mighty God. 00:49:03.47\00:49:05.64 And if you throw us into this fiery furnace, 00:49:05.67\00:49:07.68 praise the Lord, if He decides to deliver us, 00:49:07.71\00:49:09.91 He's able to do that. 00:49:09.94\00:49:11.28 Praise God. 00:49:11.31\00:49:12.65 But if He doesn't, 00:49:12.68\00:49:14.02 we're still not gonna bow down to your image. 00:49:14.05\00:49:15.98 We're still not gonna disobey our God, 00:49:16.02\00:49:17.75 we're still not gonna break the Ten Commandments. 00:49:17.79\00:49:20.39 We're gonna obey God, 00:49:20.42\00:49:21.76 even if it means us giving up our lives. 00:49:21.79\00:49:24.59 Talk about a hopeless situation, 00:49:24.63\00:49:26.63 but yet in the face of that adversity, 00:49:26.66\00:49:28.86 and in that hopeless situation, 00:49:28.90\00:49:31.67 they were still able to say, you know what? 00:49:31.70\00:49:33.77 There's a chance we're gonna die today. 00:49:33.80\00:49:35.90 But if that's the case, 00:49:35.94\00:49:37.27 I think of what Jesus said in the garden, "Lord, 00:49:37.31\00:49:39.51 take, let this cup pass before me if it's possible, 00:49:39.54\00:49:41.98 but if not, Your will be done." 00:49:42.01\00:49:45.11 Right. Amen. 00:49:45.15\00:49:46.48 Powerful man. Powerful. 00:49:46.51\00:49:47.85 And I want to add to what you're saying. 00:49:47.88\00:49:49.92 So they get thrown in the fire. 00:49:49.95\00:49:51.89 Right. 00:49:51.92\00:49:54.76 While in the fire, they see Jesus. 00:49:54.79\00:49:57.73 Right. 00:49:57.76\00:49:59.29 So, out of that... 00:49:59.33\00:50:02.60 if you're in the fire right now, 00:50:02.63\00:50:05.33 you're gonna see Jesus. 00:50:05.37\00:50:08.20 Lot of times we get into situations that are, 00:50:08.24\00:50:14.44 it's tough to handle. 00:50:14.48\00:50:16.54 But it's in those situations where we can see Jesus, 00:50:16.58\00:50:21.65 where we can get that closer connection with Him. 00:50:21.68\00:50:23.28 That's right. 00:50:23.32\00:50:24.65 I believe Lord allows situation like that to happen, 00:50:24.69\00:50:27.16 so we can have that walk with Him, 00:50:27.19\00:50:29.66 that close walk with the face to face 00:50:29.69\00:50:31.96 commune with Him which we need. 00:50:31.99\00:50:33.33 That's right. 00:50:33.36\00:50:34.70 Sometimes we got to go into the fire 00:50:34.73\00:50:36.30 before God's gonna reveal Himself. 00:50:36.33\00:50:37.73 That's powerful, powerful. 00:50:37.77\00:50:39.37 Yeah. 00:50:39.40\00:50:40.74 You know, we mentioned 00:50:40.77\00:50:42.30 that while this was mentioned earlier, 00:50:42.34\00:50:43.87 where it was like how we respond to trials, 00:50:43.91\00:50:46.74 people pay attention to it. 00:50:46.78\00:50:48.38 And it has, we either have an influence for good 00:50:48.41\00:50:52.18 or an influence for bad and, you know, 00:50:52.21\00:50:54.88 as we look at Daniel 3:26-28. 00:50:54.92\00:51:00.56 Who wants to read Daniel 3:26-28? 00:51:00.59\00:51:04.93 Let's look at how basically Nebuchadnezzar responded. 00:51:04.96\00:51:10.43 I can read that. 00:51:10.47\00:51:11.80 Daniel 3:26-28. 00:51:11.83\00:51:13.87 Yes. 00:51:13.90\00:51:15.44 "Then Nebuchadnezzar went near 00:51:15.47\00:51:17.14 the mouth of the burning fiery furnace and spoke, 00:51:17.17\00:51:20.08 saying, 'Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego, 00:51:20.11\00:51:24.01 servants of the Most High God, come out, and come here.' 00:51:24.05\00:51:28.32 Then Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego 00:51:28.35\00:51:30.72 came from the midst of the fire. 00:51:30.75\00:51:33.29 And the satraps, administrators, governors, 00:51:33.32\00:51:37.06 and the king's counselors gathered together, 00:51:37.09\00:51:40.60 and they saw these men on whose bodies 00:51:40.63\00:51:43.53 the fire had no power, 00:51:43.57\00:51:46.50 the hair of their head was not singed 00:51:46.53\00:51:49.94 nor were their garments affected, 00:51:49.97\00:51:52.97 and the smell of fire was not on them. 00:51:53.01\00:51:57.28 Nebuchadnezzar spoke, saying, 00:51:57.31\00:51:59.75 'Blessed be the God of Shadrach, 00:51:59.78\00:52:02.08 Meshach, and Abednego, 00:52:02.12\00:52:04.19 who sent His Angel and delivered His servants 00:52:04.22\00:52:09.36 who trusted in Him, 00:52:09.39\00:52:11.43 and they have frustrated the king's word, 00:52:11.46\00:52:14.03 and yielded their bodies, that they should not serve 00:52:14.06\00:52:17.87 nor worship any god except their own God!' " 00:52:17.90\00:52:24.31 It's powerful, 00:52:24.34\00:52:25.67 So they stood in the fire. 00:52:25.71\00:52:28.24 First off, it's miraculous in the sense 00:52:28.28\00:52:31.38 that they came out of that fire 00:52:31.41\00:52:32.75 not even smelling like the fire, 00:52:32.78\00:52:36.85 not even smelling like the fire. 00:52:36.89\00:52:38.35 Now, I don't know if you've been to a barbecue, 00:52:38.39\00:52:42.02 maybe threw some veggie burgers or something on the grill, 00:52:42.06\00:52:44.86 and you know, you have this, 00:52:44.89\00:52:47.53 the smoke that's coming off the grill. 00:52:47.56\00:52:51.20 You're gonna smell like that when you go inside. 00:52:51.23\00:52:53.87 That's right. 00:52:53.90\00:52:55.24 Or perhaps you've been to a bonfire 00:52:55.27\00:52:57.37 or something like that. 00:52:57.41\00:52:59.31 You're gonna smell like that fire 00:52:59.34\00:53:02.81 wherever you go until you know, 00:53:02.84\00:53:04.65 take a shower and change clothes 00:53:04.68\00:53:06.01 and all that stuff. 00:53:06.05\00:53:08.55 They didn't even smell like the fire. 00:53:08.58\00:53:12.49 I think of God's people and the trials and tribulations 00:53:12.52\00:53:16.73 that they've been through. 00:53:16.76\00:53:18.09 And when they come out on the other side of those trials 00:53:18.13\00:53:20.43 and those tribulations, 00:53:20.46\00:53:22.30 they don't even look like the trials and the tribulations 00:53:22.33\00:53:25.47 that they went through. 00:53:25.50\00:53:28.24 And it just blows my mind, what a faithful God we serve 00:53:28.27\00:53:33.17 and how He stands with us 00:53:33.21\00:53:35.04 in the midst of our fiery trials. 00:53:35.08\00:53:38.41 I was thinking real quickly, like, 00:53:38.45\00:53:40.62 other Bible characters 00:53:40.65\00:53:42.45 that went through these hopeless situations 00:53:42.48\00:53:44.72 but yet God brought about a hopeful outcome. 00:53:44.75\00:53:48.72 You know, I think of Mary and Martha. 00:53:48.76\00:53:51.29 When their brother was sick, 00:53:51.33\00:53:52.83 they sent Jesus, sent for Jesus. 00:53:52.86\00:53:55.13 You know, Lazarus is sick, come on back and heal him. 00:53:55.16\00:53:58.33 What did Jesus do? 00:53:58.37\00:53:59.70 What was His response? 00:53:59.73\00:54:01.70 He was silent. 00:54:01.74\00:54:03.07 He didn't come back. He let him die. 00:54:03.10\00:54:04.74 Of course, we know 00:54:04.77\00:54:06.11 it was gonna be for His glory to resurrect him. 00:54:06.14\00:54:08.14 But Mary, Martha didn't know that. 00:54:08.18\00:54:10.31 Mary, Martha didn't get some. 00:54:10.35\00:54:11.68 It's not like Jesus sent a note back like, 00:54:11.71\00:54:13.15 hey, look, let him die. 00:54:13.18\00:54:14.62 I'll come back and resurrect him, 00:54:14.65\00:54:15.98 they didn't know that. 00:54:16.02\00:54:17.65 But that was a hopeless situation 00:54:17.69\00:54:19.55 that ended up becoming a hopeful situation. 00:54:19.59\00:54:22.36 I think of John the Baptist that his sin, 00:54:22.39\00:54:24.63 his was hopeless, it seemed all the way to the end, right? 00:54:24.66\00:54:27.00 Because he was ultimately beheaded. 00:54:27.03\00:54:28.36 Some people say, there's no hopefulness 00:54:28.40\00:54:29.73 that come out of that story. 00:54:29.76\00:54:31.10 But yet Jesus still declared him 00:54:31.13\00:54:32.87 even in a, in a prison 00:54:32.90\00:54:35.30 that Jesus knew he was going to, 00:54:35.34\00:54:36.87 you know, not make it out of, 00:54:36.91\00:54:38.24 that he was going to end his life, 00:54:38.27\00:54:39.61 Jesus declared him the greatest of the prophets. 00:54:39.64\00:54:42.21 And I expect to see John the Baptist 00:54:42.24\00:54:44.08 in the kingdom of God, because of his hopeless situation here, 00:54:44.11\00:54:48.15 there's going to be an even great, 00:54:48.18\00:54:49.68 great hopeful situation on the other side, right? 00:54:49.72\00:54:52.45 A great, a great, a great moment. 00:54:52.49\00:54:54.29 And, of course, more than anybody, Jesus, 00:54:54.32\00:54:56.19 Jesus, there's nobody that went through 00:54:56.22\00:54:57.93 more of helpless 00:54:57.96\00:54:59.29 and hopeless situations than Jesus. 00:54:59.33\00:55:01.53 But out on the other side, Jesus was victorious. 00:55:01.56\00:55:04.43 And so those are great examples that come to my mind, 00:55:04.47\00:55:05.80 I just want to share. 00:55:05.83\00:55:07.17 Amen. 00:55:07.20\00:55:08.54 I mean, when you think about the history of mankind, 00:55:08.57\00:55:10.77 we were on death row. 00:55:10.81\00:55:13.24 Like we were facing the death penalty. 00:55:13.27\00:55:15.81 Adam and Eve facing the death penalty. 00:55:15.84\00:55:19.18 But Christ paid it all. 00:55:19.21\00:55:22.45 That's right. He paid it all. 00:55:22.48\00:55:24.49 What are some things that, you know, let's share some tips 00:55:24.52\00:55:27.96 or some strategies that 00:55:27.99\00:55:29.39 if someone's going through a trial, 00:55:29.42\00:55:30.76 what are some things that they can do 00:55:30.79\00:55:34.56 that will bring God the honor and the glory? 00:55:34.60\00:55:38.20 I think that one of the first things 00:55:38.23\00:55:40.97 that we should do is to hide God's Word in your heart. 00:55:41.00\00:55:46.54 That's where you got to be right off the bat. 00:55:46.57\00:55:48.74 Because when you're in that situation, 00:55:48.78\00:55:51.21 that's challenging, 00:55:51.25\00:55:52.58 If you can remember those encouraging words 00:55:52.61\00:55:55.32 that can help you through those trials. 00:55:55.35\00:55:56.69 I think about Joshua 1:9, 00:55:56.72\00:55:59.75 "Be strong and of good courage, 00:55:59.79\00:56:01.89 and do not be afraid nor be dismayed. 00:56:01.92\00:56:06.86 For the Lord your God is with you, 00:56:06.90\00:56:09.03 wherever you go." 00:56:09.06\00:56:10.80 Joshua 1:9, so things like that, 00:56:10.83\00:56:13.97 verses like that, that can help you through challenges. 00:56:14.00\00:56:16.60 When you feel hopeless, 00:56:16.64\00:56:18.41 call those scriptures back to mind. 00:56:18.44\00:56:20.71 Hope it would be helpful. 00:56:20.74\00:56:22.08 Amen. Amen. 00:56:22.11\00:56:23.71 Proverbs 3:5-6, that's my go to passage. 00:56:23.75\00:56:26.85 Yeah. 00:56:26.88\00:56:28.22 "Trust in the Lord with all your heart 00:56:28.25\00:56:29.65 and lean not on your own understanding. 00:56:29.68\00:56:31.82 In all your ways acknowledge Him, 00:56:31.85\00:56:34.36 and He shall direct your path." 00:56:34.39\00:56:35.72 It really is all about trusting in the Lord 00:56:35.76\00:56:37.33 even when that adversity is there. 00:56:37.36\00:56:39.06 When it seems like you having to go into that fiery furnace. 00:56:39.09\00:56:41.86 No matter the outcome, you say, Lord, 00:56:41.90\00:56:43.40 whether You save me or You don't, 00:56:43.43\00:56:45.13 I'm still gonna trust in You. 00:56:45.17\00:56:46.90 Absolutely Amen. 00:56:46.94\00:56:48.67 You have anything you'd like to add, Dakota? 00:56:48.70\00:56:50.64 Well, I honestly was just gonna say, you know, 00:56:50.67\00:56:54.08 in John 3:16, 00:56:54.11\00:56:55.44 where it talks about believing in God, 00:56:55.48\00:56:57.11 that word means pisteuo in the Greek 00:56:57.15\00:56:58.81 which means to trust in God, 00:56:58.85\00:57:00.78 but I was thinking one day in my private studies, 00:57:00.82\00:57:02.68 and I thought, you know, you can't trust someone 00:57:02.72\00:57:04.32 you don't know. 00:57:04.35\00:57:06.69 So I got to really thinking about that, like, Lord, 00:57:06.72\00:57:08.72 the only way I can overcome anything is to get to know You, 00:57:08.76\00:57:11.86 then I trust You, and I overcome. 00:57:11.89\00:57:14.46 Amen. That's a good word. 00:57:14.50\00:57:15.90 That's a good word. 00:57:15.93\00:57:17.27 Thank you guys for sharing that insight in the Word 00:57:17.30\00:57:19.63 and study in the Word with us today. 00:57:19.67\00:57:22.64 And we thank you for joining us and happy Sabbath, 00:57:22.67\00:57:26.34 and we want you to know that whatever trial you're facing, 00:57:26.37\00:57:29.94 Jesus is standing with you in the midst of it. 00:57:29.98\00:57:32.48 Till next time, God bless. 00:57:32.51\00:57:34.08
