That's right. 00:04:20.32\00:04:21.66 And I'll tell you what, we've got some winners. 00:04:21.69\00:04:23.63 So I appreciate the job I have. 00:04:23.66\00:04:25.79 Amen. 00:04:25.83\00:04:27.16 Praise the Lord, me too. 00:04:27.20\00:04:28.76 It's nothing like working for the King of the universe. 00:04:28.80\00:04:31.70 Amen. 00:04:31.73\00:04:33.07 Praise the Lord. 00:04:33.10\00:04:34.44 Hey, we have a very, very special, special title today, 00:04:34.47\00:04:37.77 "What is truth?" 00:04:37.81\00:04:39.14 That's what we're talking about, 00:04:39.17\00:04:40.51 what is truth and that may sound very elementary, 00:04:40.54\00:04:42.04 it may sound very simple, 00:04:42.08\00:04:44.01 very fundamental to some people. 00:04:44.05\00:04:45.68 But I promise you, you don't want to turn away 00:04:45.71\00:04:47.82 or you don't want to stop watching this 00:04:47.85\00:04:49.18 because we're going to get into 00:04:49.22\00:04:51.05 I think some very relative information, 00:04:51.09\00:04:53.42 some very relative truth 00:04:53.46\00:04:55.86 in trying to address the issue of what is truth, 00:04:55.89\00:04:58.59 and certainly here in 2020 00:04:58.63\00:05:00.96 as we are seeing all of the kind of the chaos, 00:05:01.00\00:05:05.00 and I don't know, 00:05:05.03\00:05:06.37 for lack of a better word craziness 00:05:06.40\00:05:07.84 that seems to be unfolding around us. 00:05:07.87\00:05:11.47 You know, the truth of God's word 00:05:11.51\00:05:13.27 is being chipped away at. 00:05:13.31\00:05:14.64 And it seems in many people's hearts and minds 00:05:14.68\00:05:16.91 as there's not, 00:05:16.95\00:05:18.28 there's not a strong foundation there of what is truth. 00:05:18.31\00:05:20.68 And so that's what we're going to be talking about tonight, 00:05:20.72\00:05:22.88 addressing that from a biblical perspective, 00:05:22.92\00:05:25.02 because as Christians living in these last days, 00:05:25.05\00:05:27.66 we need to make sure that we are sure 00:05:27.69\00:05:30.49 and we are grounded on what is truth. 00:05:30.53\00:05:33.66 And so before we go any further, 00:05:33.70\00:05:35.70 Brother Joe, I'm going to ask you, 00:05:35.73\00:05:37.07 Brother, if you don't mind 00:05:37.10\00:05:38.43 to have an opening prayer for us, 00:05:38.47\00:05:39.80 and then we're going to get right into our study. 00:05:39.83\00:05:42.30 Our Father in Heaven, we've come together here, Lord, 00:05:42.34\00:05:45.87 to serve You, and to reach out to the world 00:05:45.91\00:05:49.08 and sharing the things that are needful for salvation 00:05:49.11\00:05:52.98 and restoration of eternal life. 00:05:53.01\00:05:55.72 And so we invite Your Holy Spirit 00:05:55.75\00:05:57.72 to be in our hearts and minds 00:05:57.75\00:06:00.22 as we search Your word for truth. 00:06:00.26\00:06:02.89 And we pray that You will share with all of us, 00:06:02.92\00:06:06.59 our viewers and us new truths, Lord, 00:06:06.63\00:06:10.23 that can help us 00:06:10.27\00:06:11.60 to be better servants in Your vineyard. 00:06:11.63\00:06:14.57 And we thank You for Your presence 00:06:14.60\00:06:16.20 and Your guidance in Jesus' name, amen. 00:06:16.24\00:06:18.57 Amen. Amen. 00:06:18.61\00:06:20.58 Praise the Lord. 00:06:20.61\00:06:22.28 So if you have your Bibles at home, 00:06:22.31\00:06:23.81 we encourage you to get your Bibles, 00:06:23.85\00:06:25.28 get your pin pads, notepads, writing utensils, all that out, 00:06:25.31\00:06:28.38 because you're probably going to want to take some notes. 00:06:28.42\00:06:30.29 We're going to try not to get too philosophical tonight, 00:06:30.32\00:06:32.72 but simply stick to what the Bible says 00:06:32.75\00:06:35.52 about truth in general. 00:06:35.56\00:06:37.03 Of course, this is something 00:06:37.06\00:06:38.39 as we were talking amongst ourselves, 00:06:38.43\00:06:39.79 this thing could easily turn into a multi part series. 00:06:39.83\00:06:43.10 We're going to do our best to not allow that to happen. 00:06:43.13\00:06:45.63 But with the same time, 00:06:45.67\00:06:47.24 we're going to also listen to the Holy Spirit. 00:06:47.27\00:06:49.30 So if the Holy Spirit wants this to be a multi part series, 00:06:49.34\00:06:52.24 then we'll make it so, 00:06:52.27\00:06:53.61 otherwise, we're just going to allow 00:06:53.64\00:06:55.14 the Word of God to speak for itself tonight. 00:06:55.18\00:06:57.65 Let's go to, if you have your Bibles, 00:06:57.68\00:06:59.01 let's go to John 18. 00:06:59.05\00:07:00.72 And, Donald, 00:07:00.75\00:07:02.08 I'm going to have you to start reading in verse 33 00:07:02.12\00:07:04.82 in just a moment. 00:07:04.85\00:07:06.19 But what we're about to unpack 00:07:06.22\00:07:07.66 is simply probably one of the most powerful scenes 00:07:07.69\00:07:10.93 that we find in all of Scripture. 00:07:10.96\00:07:12.69 And, of course, 00:07:12.73\00:07:14.06 what we're seeing here in these verses 00:07:14.10\00:07:15.43 from about verse 33-38 of John Chapter 18 is, 00:07:15.46\00:07:20.80 of course, the interrogation of Jesus 00:07:20.84\00:07:23.14 by the Roman governor Pontius Pilate. 00:07:23.17\00:07:25.97 And we all know that famous question he asked, 00:07:26.01\00:07:28.41 and that's what 00:07:28.44\00:07:29.78 we're kind of gravitating toward. 00:07:29.81\00:07:31.15 And he ends with this, 00:07:31.18\00:07:32.51 you know, this question of what is truth, right? 00:07:32.55\00:07:34.28 And so, if you would, Donald, 00:07:34.32\00:07:35.65 go ahead and start reading John Chapter 18, 00:07:35.68\00:07:37.89 beginning with verse 33 and all the way to verse 38. 00:07:37.92\00:07:40.89 Yeah, all right. 00:07:40.92\00:07:42.52 "Then Pilate entered into the judgment hall again, 00:07:42.56\00:07:45.19 and called Jesus, and said unto him, 00:07:45.23\00:07:47.46 Art thou the King of the Jews? 00:07:47.50\00:07:50.07 Jesus answered him, Sayest thou this thing of thyself, 00:07:50.10\00:07:53.50 or did others tell it thee of me? 00:07:53.54\00:07:56.50 Pilate answered, Am I a Jew? 00:07:56.54\00:07:58.97 Thine own nation 00:07:59.01\00:08:00.34 and the chief priests have delivered thee unto me: 00:08:00.38\00:08:02.41 what hast thou done? 00:08:02.44\00:08:04.05 Jesus answered, 00:08:04.08\00:08:05.41 My kingdom is not of this world: 00:08:05.45\00:08:07.12 if my kingdom were of this world, 00:08:07.15\00:08:08.75 then would my servants fight, 00:08:08.78\00:08:10.52 that I should not be delivered to the Jews: 00:08:10.55\00:08:13.09 but now is my kingdom not from hence. 00:08:13.12\00:08:16.56 Pilate therefore said unto him, Art thou a king then? 00:08:16.59\00:08:19.93 Jesus answered, Thou sayest that I am a king. 00:08:19.96\00:08:23.03 To this end was I born, 00:08:23.06\00:08:24.43 and for this cause came I into the world, 00:08:24.47\00:08:27.24 that I should bear witness unto the truth. 00:08:27.27\00:08:30.44 Every one that is of the truth heareth my voice. 00:08:30.47\00:08:34.18 Pilate saith unto him, What is truth? 00:08:34.21\00:08:37.21 And when he had said this, 00:08:37.25\00:08:38.58 he went out again unto the Jews, 00:08:38.61\00:08:39.95 and saith unto them, I find in him no fault at all." 00:08:39.98\00:08:44.85 Wow. 00:08:44.89\00:08:46.39 It's one of those, one of those interesting scenes 00:08:46.42\00:08:48.89 where you kind of just wish that you were a fly on the wall 00:08:48.92\00:08:51.93 to be able to see that scene there, 00:08:51.96\00:08:53.29 right, to take it all in to see exactly 00:08:53.33\00:08:55.56 how did Jesus respond? 00:08:55.60\00:08:57.27 How did Pilate respond, 00:08:57.30\00:08:58.63 because obviously, Pilate is interested, 00:08:58.67\00:09:00.77 as he's appearing, I'm sure upon the presence, 00:09:00.80\00:09:03.71 the physical presence of Jesus. 00:09:03.74\00:09:05.17 And he's just kind of wondering, 00:09:05.21\00:09:06.54 I'm sure at this time 00:09:06.57\00:09:07.91 Jesus didn't really appear to be anything special, 00:09:07.94\00:09:09.91 just kind of the, 00:09:09.94\00:09:11.28 just kind of the average Joe and he's looking and thinking, 00:09:11.31\00:09:12.91 this guy's a threat. 00:09:12.95\00:09:14.52 This is the guy you brought to me. 00:09:14.55\00:09:15.95 So he begins to ask him questions. 00:09:15.98\00:09:17.75 You know, who are you? They say, you're a king? 00:09:17.79\00:09:19.29 Are you a king? 00:09:19.32\00:09:20.66 And I love the response that Jesus gives, right? 00:09:20.69\00:09:22.29 Look, I am a king. 00:09:22.32\00:09:23.66 You said rightly that I am a king, 00:09:23.69\00:09:25.26 but My kingdom is not of this world. 00:09:25.29\00:09:27.70 But you know, it's also interesting, 00:09:27.73\00:09:29.06 something that you read here. 00:09:29.10\00:09:30.43 He said, 00:09:30.47\00:09:31.80 "If My kingdom were of this world, 00:09:31.83\00:09:33.17 my servants would fight." Right? 00:09:33.20\00:09:35.00 My servants would fight. 00:09:35.04\00:09:36.37 Tonight, we're certainly not promoting 00:09:36.40\00:09:38.81 the idea of being able to fight physically against each other. 00:09:38.84\00:09:41.84 But my question is, 00:09:41.88\00:09:43.21 as we're looming over this concept of truth, 00:09:43.24\00:09:45.55 are you willing to fight for truth? 00:09:45.58\00:09:47.62 And that's essentially what we're doing 00:09:47.65\00:09:48.98 in this spiritual warfare 00:09:49.02\00:09:50.75 that we are engaged in on a daily basis, 00:09:50.79\00:09:53.29 as we see that He's asking here, 00:09:53.32\00:09:55.56 this is Pilate, 00:09:55.59\00:09:56.93 he walks away and says what is truth 00:09:56.96\00:09:58.59 and it seems like we live in a day and age 00:09:58.63\00:10:01.06 where more and more people are contemplating 00:10:01.10\00:10:04.63 at least that idea in their mind, 00:10:04.67\00:10:06.40 what is truth? Is truth absolute? 00:10:06.43\00:10:08.80 Can we put our thumb 00:10:08.84\00:10:10.17 or can we point to something 00:10:10.21\00:10:11.54 that we say that is absolute truth? 00:10:11.57\00:10:13.07 Or is truth relative, is truth what we want it to be, 00:10:13.11\00:10:16.28 is truth what we devise it to be. 00:10:16.31\00:10:18.01 So, fellows, what is truth? 00:10:18.05\00:10:20.25 Is that a relevant question 00:10:20.28\00:10:22.85 that we find Pilate asking what is truth? 00:10:22.88\00:10:25.12 What's your response to that? 00:10:25.15\00:10:27.32 Well, I would, you know, I looked up, 00:10:27.36\00:10:30.66 I looked up the definition of truth. 00:10:30.69\00:10:32.33 And it says that to which corresponds to fact, 00:10:32.36\00:10:35.70 so I guess as we back this thing up 00:10:35.73\00:10:38.37 someplace along last way. 00:10:38.40\00:10:39.87 And it may be as simple as how we were raised, 00:10:39.90\00:10:42.00 I don't really know. 00:10:42.04\00:10:43.47 You know, as we take this trip through life, 00:10:43.51\00:10:46.17 we go through different stages. 00:10:46.21\00:10:48.88 I remember, whenever I was a young, 00:10:48.91\00:10:51.85 youngster, 00:10:51.88\00:10:53.48 my dad made sure that you know, that you know, that, you know. 00:10:53.52\00:10:57.72 Boy, that just went right over my head. 00:10:57.75\00:10:59.69 Right, somebody also said that. 00:10:59.72\00:11:01.06 Can't, yeah, and a married lady 00:11:01.09\00:11:03.06 that says that all the time too, 00:11:03.09\00:11:04.56 you know, know that you know, that you know, 00:11:04.59\00:11:07.20 and I was kind of, just personally, 00:11:07.23\00:11:10.70 I was the kind of person that just no one was enough. 00:11:10.73\00:11:15.04 I was so naive. 00:11:15.07\00:11:17.37 This is, this is very deep for me to sit here. 00:11:17.41\00:11:22.21 And the person that's going to determine 00:11:22.24\00:11:24.91 where you're going to go. 00:11:24.95\00:11:26.28 And then he's coming back with the same question. 00:11:26.31\00:11:30.92 And so if I was the king, I sit here and say, uh-oh, 00:11:30.95\00:11:34.72 where is this going? 00:11:34.76\00:11:36.09 Right. Right. 00:11:36.12\00:11:37.46 And so, 00:11:37.49\00:11:41.06 truth is something that we certainly get, 00:11:41.10\00:11:44.43 need to get a good handle on because the older you get, 00:11:44.47\00:11:47.24 you see how important that is. 00:11:47.27\00:11:49.64 Absolutely, I agree. 00:11:49.67\00:11:51.07 And then the thing is, we live... 00:11:51.11\00:11:53.34 And the reason why we brought this up, 00:11:53.38\00:11:54.71 reason why I thought of this, 00:11:54.74\00:11:56.08 as I was studying and preparing for this. 00:11:56.11\00:11:58.01 It seems like more and more as we find ourselves 00:11:58.05\00:12:02.02 more engaged in the society around us, 00:12:02.05\00:12:04.25 the reality around us 00:12:04.29\00:12:06.15 is that there's more and more people 00:12:06.19\00:12:07.69 who are questioning this idea of what is truth. 00:12:07.72\00:12:12.26 And again, I said earlier, 00:12:12.29\00:12:14.26 is truth something 00:12:14.30\00:12:15.63 that is absolute or is truth relative? 00:12:15.66\00:12:18.37 Is it something that I make it up to be? 00:12:18.40\00:12:20.94 Is it something that I consider to be according to my own mind, 00:12:20.97\00:12:25.07 my own reality. 00:12:25.11\00:12:26.57 And you know, many people 00:12:26.61\00:12:28.11 doubt the idea of absolute truth 00:12:28.14\00:12:31.11 and share the views of 00:12:31.15\00:12:32.48 and I have a note here of Irish Scottish playwright, 00:12:32.51\00:12:36.08 or Irish playwright, Oscar Wilde, 00:12:36.12\00:12:39.05 when he wrote these. 00:12:39.09\00:12:40.42 He wrote these words, he said, 00:12:40.46\00:12:41.79 "The truth is rarely pure, and never simple. 00:12:41.82\00:12:44.86 And so there's so many people that would take that. 00:12:44.89\00:12:47.13 Again, the truth is rarely, 00:12:47.16\00:12:48.83 the truth is rarely pure and never simple. 00:12:48.86\00:12:51.47 And so there's so many people that say, that's right, 00:12:51.50\00:12:53.47 you know, truth is, there's no pure truth. 00:12:53.50\00:12:55.44 You know, there's no absolute truth. 00:12:55.47\00:12:57.31 You know, it's not as it's not as simple 00:12:57.34\00:12:59.51 as people make it out to be. 00:12:59.54\00:13:00.88 It's not black and white, you know, 00:13:00.91\00:13:02.24 there's some deep, deep, deep gray 00:13:02.28\00:13:03.78 and multicolored areas that you got to address. 00:13:03.81\00:13:06.75 And, of course, you have people like, 00:13:06.78\00:13:08.15 you know, famous musician, Bob Dylan, 00:13:08.18\00:13:09.88 who is quoted to have said, 00:13:09.92\00:13:11.69 "All the truth in the world adds up to one big lie." 00:13:11.72\00:13:14.22 Wow. 00:13:14.26\00:13:15.99 All the truth in the world, 00:13:16.02\00:13:17.36 and I laugh at that kind of just jokingly, 00:13:17.39\00:13:18.89 in the sense that 00:13:18.93\00:13:20.50 what's, what's amazing is and again, 00:13:20.53\00:13:23.87 this isn't really a joke, 00:13:23.90\00:13:25.23 because I want to make this very clear 00:13:25.27\00:13:26.60 as we're getting into the realm of Christianity, 00:13:26.63\00:13:29.70 you expect the world 00:13:29.74\00:13:32.27 to believe these type of things. 00:13:32.31\00:13:33.78 You expect someone who is a non-Christian, 00:13:33.81\00:13:36.48 to play with these ideas of what is true, 00:13:36.51\00:13:38.51 then is it absolute? 00:13:38.55\00:13:39.88 No, it's not. 00:13:39.91\00:13:41.25 But when you get inside the Christian church, 00:13:41.28\00:13:44.02 is truth absolute, 00:13:44.05\00:13:45.39 is truth supposed to be absolute 00:13:45.42\00:13:47.56 to the Christian? 00:13:47.59\00:13:48.92 That's actually what my first, 00:13:48.96\00:13:50.29 our first question is in our outline 00:13:50.33\00:13:51.86 that we have here. 00:13:51.89\00:13:53.23 Should Christians view truth as absolute? 00:13:53.26\00:13:56.83 Is it something 00:13:56.87\00:13:58.20 that we should view as absolute? 00:13:58.23\00:13:59.57 Or is it relative to our own perspective, 00:13:59.60\00:14:02.00 our own ideologies, our own opinions? 00:14:02.04\00:14:05.34 What you think? 00:14:05.37\00:14:06.71 I think we should let God answer that question. 00:14:06.74\00:14:09.28 It's an important question. 00:14:09.31\00:14:10.85 And in Psalms 119:142, God Himself says, 00:14:10.88\00:14:17.55 "Thy law is the truth." 00:14:17.59\00:14:20.82 Then he says in 119:151, 00:14:20.86\00:14:24.93 "Thy commandments are truth." 00:14:24.96\00:14:28.20 So the law, 00:14:28.23\00:14:29.56 the commandment law is the truth. 00:14:29.60\00:14:32.53 So the truth. The truth. 00:14:32.57\00:14:34.40 The truth, there's a definite article there. 00:14:34.44\00:14:36.24 I like, I like how he's emphasizing that, 00:14:36.27\00:14:38.44 because it's not expressed as a truth, the truth. 00:14:38.47\00:14:43.41 Thy law is the truth. 00:14:43.45\00:14:45.25 Now, based on that simplicity, I can go forward. 00:14:45.28\00:14:49.45 Okay. 00:14:49.48\00:14:50.82 Like I can take care of what I have to take care of 00:14:50.85\00:14:53.19 and stay within that perimeter. 00:14:53.22\00:14:54.72 Mm-hmm. Absolutely. 00:14:54.76\00:14:56.22 I was kind of thinking on this note, you know, 00:14:56.26\00:14:57.86 just reviewing this, what we just read in John 00:14:57.89\00:15:00.90 and I can understand Pilate's confusion 00:15:00.93\00:15:03.16 because you're the king of the Jews, 00:15:03.20\00:15:05.53 but they turned you in, 00:15:05.57\00:15:07.67 be speaking like your action speak words. 00:15:07.70\00:15:09.90 And you can see well, 00:15:09.94\00:15:11.27 how is he the King of the Jews 00:15:11.31\00:15:12.64 if they're sending you to be crucified? 00:15:12.67\00:15:14.74 I don't, this isn't making sense, 00:15:14.78\00:15:16.11 some kind of truth is not connecting here. 00:15:16.14\00:15:18.41 So I'm kind of seeing that story played out here, said, 00:15:18.45\00:15:20.42 you know that 00:15:20.45\00:15:21.78 I should not be delivered to the Jews. 00:15:21.82\00:15:23.15 So Jesus is trying to keep, you know, says him, 00:15:23.18\00:15:24.85 my servant would fight 00:15:24.89\00:15:26.22 so I would not should not be delivered to the Jews. 00:15:26.25\00:15:27.89 And why would the King of the Jews 00:15:27.92\00:15:30.13 be delivered for crucifixion? 00:15:30.16\00:15:31.56 That's, that's... Right. 00:15:31.59\00:15:33.53 So I see as a people work, 00:15:33.56\00:15:35.76 we, by how we live our life and how we conduct ourselves. 00:15:35.80\00:15:39.30 Do we really show that we live the truth, 00:15:39.33\00:15:41.14 kind of like, absolute truth? 00:15:41.17\00:15:43.10 How do we live that absolute truth? 00:15:43.14\00:15:44.94 What we're seeing here is Pilate's confused, 00:15:44.97\00:15:46.31 what is truth? 00:15:46.34\00:15:47.68 If I'm seeing this and seeing, 00:15:47.71\00:15:49.04 there's two different things going on here. 00:15:49.08\00:15:50.41 Right. 00:15:50.45\00:15:51.78 This story here fascinates me in this respect. 00:15:51.81\00:15:54.92 I see a time 00:15:54.95\00:15:56.58 when they didn't have newspapers, televisions, 00:15:56.62\00:15:58.32 radio, etc. 00:15:58.35\00:15:59.69 But they knew the news, right? 00:15:59.72\00:16:01.19 They knew that this man 00:16:01.22\00:16:02.56 Jesus was supposed to be somebody special. 00:16:02.59\00:16:05.73 He even kind of went around healing people and, you know, 00:16:05.76\00:16:09.20 this is, this is serious. 00:16:09.23\00:16:11.00 This guy says He's the Son of God, 00:16:11.03\00:16:13.20 or was raised the dead, what have you. 00:16:13.23\00:16:15.84 And so it comes to the point like you said, 00:16:15.87\00:16:19.67 everyone who is of the truth hears my voice, 00:16:19.71\00:16:22.28 Jesus says to the king, 00:16:22.31\00:16:24.31 "Everyone who is of the truth, " 00:16:24.35\00:16:29.18 meaning, are you, He's talking to the king now, 00:16:29.22\00:16:31.72 and the king's listening, 00:16:31.75\00:16:33.39 "hears My voice. 00:16:33.42\00:16:35.76 And I came to bear witness of the truth." 00:16:35.79\00:16:39.16 In other words, 00:16:39.19\00:16:40.66 if I am who everybody says, or thinks I might be, 00:16:40.70\00:16:44.80 then you better be paying attention 00:16:44.83\00:16:46.53 to why I'm here to witness the truth. 00:16:46.57\00:16:49.87 Now you're going to speak your answer, 00:16:49.90\00:16:52.11 is it going to be truthful? 00:16:52.14\00:16:54.08 And the king went out and said, 00:16:54.11\00:16:56.24 "I find no fault in him." 00:16:56.28\00:16:58.18 There's the truth. 00:16:58.21\00:17:00.05 He put him in a corner, 00:17:00.08\00:17:01.58 he backed him up against the wall with words. 00:17:01.62\00:17:04.62 And that king was saying, 00:17:04.65\00:17:05.99 "What if He is who He says He is, 00:17:06.02\00:17:08.92 and has the kingdom in heaven? 00:17:08.96\00:17:11.06 Then I better tell the truth." 00:17:11.09\00:17:14.63 So I think there was a little something going on there. 00:17:14.66\00:17:16.80 Absolutely. 00:17:16.83\00:17:18.17 You know, I'm just going back over these words 00:17:18.20\00:17:19.53 that we just read in John 18. 00:17:19.57\00:17:22.14 The fact that Christ specified, and I love this, he says, 00:17:22.17\00:17:25.91 "For this cause I was born. 00:17:25.94\00:17:29.21 For this cause I have come into the world." 00:17:29.24\00:17:31.51 Why have you come into the world? 00:17:31.55\00:17:32.88 Jesus, of course, you know, many people would say, 00:17:32.91\00:17:34.32 well, as to seek and save the lost. 00:17:34.35\00:17:35.85 So there's, you know, 00:17:35.88\00:17:37.22 all of those answers are correct. 00:17:37.25\00:17:38.59 But I like how he says here, that, 00:17:38.62\00:17:40.29 "I should bear witness to the truth." 00:17:40.32\00:17:43.32 And in the original Greek there, 00:17:43.36\00:17:44.69 the definite article is there 00:17:44.73\00:17:46.06 that He's not talking about just simply 00:17:46.09\00:17:47.76 any old kind of whatever truth you want to come up with. 00:17:47.80\00:17:50.03 He says, 00:17:50.07\00:17:51.40 "I came into this world to bear witness of the truth." 00:17:51.43\00:17:54.00 And as Brother Joe brought out here, 00:17:54.04\00:17:55.37 "Everyone who is of the truth hears My voice." 00:17:55.40\00:18:00.24 And so, can and should Christians view truth 00:18:00.28\00:18:03.61 as something that is absolute 00:18:03.65\00:18:05.78 something that, that we can be grounded upon 00:18:05.81\00:18:11.35 and still be drawn to a certain, 00:18:11.39\00:18:14.42 one certain reality that truth is what it is 00:18:14.46\00:18:17.96 regardless of what you want to believe or not. 00:18:17.99\00:18:20.70 Truth is truth according to Christians' views, 00:18:20.73\00:18:23.57 that's what it should be. 00:18:23.60\00:18:24.93 In fact, I'm also looking here in John 8:32. 00:18:24.97\00:18:27.60 Again, Jesus speaking, He says, 00:18:27.64\00:18:29.37 "And you shall know the truth, 00:18:29.40\00:18:32.14 and the truth shall make you free." 00:18:32.17\00:18:34.34 Yeah, I like what JD said earlier 00:18:34.38\00:18:36.41 you know about facts. 00:18:36.44\00:18:38.31 Because facts are usually something you see, 00:18:38.35\00:18:40.82 literally see. 00:18:40.85\00:18:42.18 When we're talking about Jesus, 00:18:42.22\00:18:43.55 and He's from a different kingdom, 00:18:43.59\00:18:44.92 I can't see a kingdom. 00:18:44.95\00:18:46.29 So how do I know it's even true? 00:18:46.32\00:18:47.66 You know, Hebrews 11:1 says, faith is evident or hope, 00:18:47.69\00:18:51.26 what it say evidence. 00:18:51.29\00:18:53.13 "Faith is things hoped for, 00:18:53.16\00:18:54.90 the evidence of things not seen." 00:18:54.93\00:18:56.26 The word evidence. 00:18:56.30\00:18:57.63 So this idea of truth, you know, 00:18:57.67\00:18:59.00 we see the sunrise every day and it sets in the west. 00:18:59.03\00:19:00.80 That's truth. It's a fact. Right. 00:19:00.84\00:19:02.17 It's there. 00:19:02.20\00:19:03.54 I got two hands, I got two feet, 00:19:03.57\00:19:04.91 I have two eyes. Right. 00:19:04.94\00:19:06.27 That's true. That's a fact. 00:19:06.31\00:19:07.64 So I think that we're talking about 00:19:07.68\00:19:09.01 this idea of absolute versus relative. 00:19:09.04\00:19:10.45 It's people want truth, like they want it physically. 00:19:10.48\00:19:13.28 They want to be able to see it. 00:19:13.31\00:19:14.65 But Jesus Christ came to show them a different reality 00:19:14.68\00:19:17.19 and they weren't ready for it. 00:19:17.22\00:19:19.22 That's right. Absolutely. 00:19:19.25\00:19:20.59 And in an ideal world, that should be quite simple. 00:19:20.62\00:19:24.03 Right. 00:19:24.06\00:19:25.69 But we live in a world of confusion, 00:19:25.73\00:19:28.80 of which we have choices. 00:19:28.83\00:19:30.17 That's right. 00:19:30.20\00:19:31.53 And then it gets very complex, 00:19:31.57\00:19:32.90 because this may be a little bit sweeter to me 00:19:32.93\00:19:35.80 than this over here. 00:19:35.84\00:19:37.87 And so all of a sudden now, there's choices. 00:19:37.91\00:19:41.88 And now the hole gets deeper. 00:19:41.91\00:19:46.55 So where we're going to go with it? 00:19:46.58\00:19:48.58 How come... 00:19:48.62\00:19:51.05 You were talking about this earlier. 00:19:51.09\00:19:53.22 How many different denominations are there? 00:19:53.25\00:19:55.92 There's more than 40,000 according to statistics. 00:19:55.96\00:19:57.39 Forty thousand. 00:19:57.43\00:19:58.76 So there's 40 at least 40,000 different views here. 00:19:58.79\00:20:03.33 Boy, that hole just got even deeper. 00:20:03.37\00:20:06.03 How come, 00:20:06.07\00:20:07.70 how come if there is the truth that is so complex? 00:20:07.74\00:20:13.74 Yeah, now that's a good question. 00:20:13.78\00:20:15.31 And that's kind of the purpose of this study is that, again, 00:20:15.34\00:20:19.15 as I said earlier, 00:20:19.18\00:20:20.52 outside of the Christian church, 00:20:20.55\00:20:22.15 we expect the world to be draped 00:20:22.18\00:20:24.39 in this confusion, right? 00:20:24.42\00:20:26.19 You expect someone who does not know Christ, 00:20:26.22\00:20:28.22 who does not profess Christ, 00:20:28.26\00:20:29.76 who does not seek Jesus as Savior, 00:20:29.79\00:20:31.89 to be kind of confound to this confused state 00:20:31.93\00:20:35.10 of what is truth is, truth is what I want it to be. 00:20:35.13\00:20:37.73 But yet inside the Christian church, 00:20:37.77\00:20:40.37 is truth, is it supposed to be absolute? 00:20:40.40\00:20:44.24 Or is it something that's relative 00:20:44.27\00:20:45.61 that we can just create on our own? 00:20:45.64\00:20:47.88 And so, it kind of reminds me of something I read about the, 00:20:47.91\00:20:52.35 this is an actual, this is actual real thing, 00:20:52.38\00:20:54.32 it's called the law or the principle 00:20:54.35\00:20:55.68 of non-contradiction. 00:20:55.72\00:20:57.85 And this is something 00:20:57.89\00:20:59.22 getting a little bit of philosophy here, 00:20:59.25\00:21:00.59 which we're going to, 00:21:00.62\00:21:01.96 we're going to touch it and then back off, 00:21:01.99\00:21:03.32 because the rabbit hole goes so deep, 00:21:03.36\00:21:05.66 that we'd be there for a while, 00:21:05.69\00:21:07.50 or probably just scratching our heads like what. 00:21:07.53\00:21:09.53 But talk, 00:21:09.56\00:21:10.90 speaking of this simplistic understanding of the, 00:21:10.93\00:21:14.30 when talking about logic, the law of non-contradiction, 00:21:14.34\00:21:18.04 now what is that? 00:21:18.07\00:21:19.41 It simply means, 00:21:19.44\00:21:20.78 and it states 00:21:20.81\00:21:22.14 that something cannot be and not be at the same time. 00:21:22.18\00:21:27.02 Okay, so let me say that one more time, 00:21:27.05\00:21:28.38 so we don't confuse. 00:21:28.42\00:21:29.75 Something cannot be and not be at the same time. 00:21:29.78\00:21:33.89 In other words, 00:21:33.92\00:21:35.26 in relation to what we're talking about here, 00:21:35.29\00:21:37.03 something cannot be truth 00:21:37.06\00:21:39.33 and then not truthful at the same time. 00:21:39.36\00:21:42.63 This is either a cup of water, or it's not a cup of water, 00:21:42.66\00:21:48.44 right? 00:21:48.47\00:21:50.01 But according to the law of non-contradiction, 00:21:50.04\00:21:52.47 it says it can't be both. 00:21:52.51\00:21:54.04 I can look at this and say, hey, check out my cup of water. 00:21:54.08\00:21:56.71 But I can also look at this and say 00:21:56.75\00:21:58.15 check out my non cup of water. 00:21:58.18\00:21:59.98 I'm not holding a cup of water, but yet it's there. 00:22:00.02\00:22:02.68 It's kind of sounds silly to even bring that up. 00:22:02.72\00:22:06.05 But yeah, we live in a reality today 00:22:06.09\00:22:07.99 in a world that we live in, 00:22:08.02\00:22:09.52 where you take some of what 00:22:09.56\00:22:10.89 we would consider as Christians to be simplistic, 00:22:10.93\00:22:13.70 fundamental, grounded truths that we live by 00:22:13.73\00:22:16.90 that we, that we, we function by. 00:22:16.93\00:22:19.93 And yet even within the Christian world, 00:22:19.97\00:22:22.44 the devil has infiltrated and caused confusion 00:22:22.47\00:22:25.27 where now people are looking back at the scriptures, saying, 00:22:25.31\00:22:27.71 "Wait a second, is that really what it is? 00:22:27.74\00:22:30.21 Does that really say what it says?" 00:22:30.25\00:22:32.28 And then comes in private interpretation, 00:22:32.31\00:22:34.15 and the lines are blurred 00:22:34.18\00:22:36.08 and then truth is no longer absolute. 00:22:36.12\00:22:39.69 And so this is where 00:22:39.72\00:22:41.06 we brought up the concept of relativism. 00:22:41.09\00:22:42.66 What is relativism? 00:22:42.69\00:22:44.06 You've heard this, it's a big word, 00:22:44.09\00:22:45.43 but it again, relativism, what is that? 00:22:45.46\00:22:47.16 It simply states that truth is relative, 00:22:47.20\00:22:49.36 it's subject to opinion, it's not absolute. 00:22:49.40\00:22:52.63 And what happens is in relativism, 00:22:52.67\00:22:54.40 this is the dangers of it. 00:22:54.44\00:22:55.77 And we're going to go on here in just a moment, 00:22:55.80\00:22:57.14 as we're going to set the foundation 00:22:57.17\00:22:58.67 for biblical truth. 00:22:58.71\00:23:00.44 But relativism, 00:23:00.48\00:23:01.81 what it basically says is that I live in my reality, 00:23:01.84\00:23:04.38 and you live in yours. 00:23:04.41\00:23:05.75 You have your truth, and I have my truth. 00:23:05.78\00:23:07.82 And my truth is my truth 00:23:07.85\00:23:10.12 and it's not necessarily your truth. 00:23:10.15\00:23:11.82 And so you have your own truth, you have your own path, 00:23:11.85\00:23:14.26 you have your own light. 00:23:14.29\00:23:15.66 And it may be truth to us, 00:23:15.69\00:23:18.36 but may not necessarily be true for everyone else. 00:23:18.39\00:23:20.73 And so that actually 00:23:20.76\00:23:22.10 is a violation of the law of non-contradiction, 00:23:22.13\00:23:24.93 because something can't be true 00:23:24.97\00:23:26.53 and not true at the same time. 00:23:26.57\00:23:28.27 And so that's what we're talking about. 00:23:28.30\00:23:29.84 And when you when the lines start to become blurred, 00:23:29.87\00:23:32.24 where you got your own truth, your own reality, 00:23:32.27\00:23:34.51 I have my own truth, my own reality, 00:23:34.54\00:23:36.64 then the fundamental aspects of communication 00:23:36.68\00:23:39.68 begin to be basically eroded away, 00:23:39.71\00:23:43.39 where you can't even fundamentally 00:23:43.42\00:23:44.75 communicate properly anymore, 00:23:44.79\00:23:46.19 because, again, you're living in your own reality 00:23:46.22\00:23:48.69 and I'm living in mine. 00:23:48.72\00:23:50.69 But, go ahead, Joe. 00:23:50.73\00:23:52.49 I was going to say that, 00:23:52.53\00:23:54.90 that confusion began with Satan in the Garden of Eden. 00:23:54.93\00:23:57.63 Right. That I was exactly thinking. 00:23:57.67\00:23:59.87 When he said, 00:23:59.90\00:24:01.30 "You shall not surely die," 00:24:01.34\00:24:04.31 Well, Eve was told she would die 00:24:04.34\00:24:06.31 if she ate from the tree. 00:24:06.34\00:24:08.74 And this fella says, 00:24:08.78\00:24:10.11 "You shall not surely die." 00:24:10.15\00:24:12.01 The glass was full, but it's not surely full. 00:24:12.05\00:24:16.55 And so he was kind of like, telling the truth 00:24:16.58\00:24:19.59 because he probably ate the fruit in front of her 00:24:19.62\00:24:23.02 because the Bible says 00:24:23.06\00:24:24.79 she saw that it was good for food. 00:24:24.83\00:24:28.60 Now, if that's the case, then she thought, 00:24:28.63\00:24:32.07 well, for whatever reason, 00:24:32.10\00:24:34.50 God was mistaken or like this, 00:24:34.54\00:24:37.61 this serpent says hiding something, 00:24:37.64\00:24:39.97 whatever the case is, 00:24:40.01\00:24:41.34 I'm seeing with my own eyes, that the glass is empty. 00:24:41.38\00:24:45.51 He didn't die. 00:24:45.55\00:24:47.62 So then she went a step further in there to eat it 00:24:47.65\00:24:50.72 and did not die. 00:24:50.75\00:24:52.79 So the glass, 00:24:52.82\00:24:54.16 you see was supposed to be full is empty. 00:24:54.19\00:24:56.86 And then she goes and says to her husband, 00:24:56.89\00:24:59.06 poor guy, she says, 00:24:59.09\00:25:00.43 "Look, I'm eating and I'm not dying." 00:25:00.46\00:25:01.90 And he says, 00:25:01.93\00:25:03.26 "Well, let's see what it tastes like," 00:25:03.30\00:25:04.63 you know what I mean. 00:25:04.67\00:25:06.00 Now, now the point is when he said, 00:25:06.03\00:25:08.44 "You shall not surely die" 00:25:08.47\00:25:11.84 not really. 00:25:11.87\00:25:13.21 I looked up surely in the dictionary 00:25:13.24\00:25:15.14 and it says not really die. 00:25:15.18\00:25:17.61 Not certainly die. 00:25:17.65\00:25:20.22 So there's comes that conjecture 00:25:20.25\00:25:21.85 where you just wonder what's going on. 00:25:21.88\00:25:23.62 And the truth, 00:25:23.65\00:25:25.39 had he told the truth he would have said, 00:25:25.42\00:25:29.02 you shall not die now. 00:25:29.06\00:25:32.09 Okay. 00:25:32.13\00:25:33.46 That would have been the truth, concrete. 00:25:33.50\00:25:35.10 Right. Right. 00:25:35.13\00:25:36.87 But again, that concept of, you know, God saying one thing, 00:25:36.90\00:25:41.14 the enemy saying the other, but they're conflicting. 00:25:41.17\00:25:44.57 So the question is, what is truth? 00:25:44.61\00:25:46.54 And the question I want to ask at this point, 00:25:46.57\00:25:49.48 as we prepare to go on the next step, 00:25:49.51\00:25:50.95 and I know you had something to say, 00:25:50.98\00:25:52.31 do you want to go ahead and say that now? 00:25:52.35\00:25:53.68 Well, no, go ahead. 00:25:53.72\00:25:55.05 Well, the question we're asking is, 00:25:55.08\00:25:56.42 if truth is absolute, 00:25:56.45\00:25:57.85 and we know that we just read the scriptures, 00:25:57.89\00:26:00.06 they're talking about the truth. 00:26:00.09\00:26:01.42 So Jesus made truth out to be something that's absolute. 00:26:01.46\00:26:04.39 So can we as Christians know that absolute truth 00:26:04.43\00:26:07.70 and know what that absolute truth is? 00:26:07.73\00:26:10.20 How about this real quick? Sure. 00:26:10.23\00:26:12.60 Titus 1:2, 00:26:12.63\00:26:15.14 "In hope of eternal life, " 00:26:15.17\00:26:16.64 that's what we're hoping for, 00:26:16.67\00:26:19.21 "which God, 00:26:19.24\00:26:20.84 that cannot lie 00:26:20.88\00:26:22.94 promised before the world began." 00:26:22.98\00:26:25.41 Now if God cannot lie, 00:26:25.45\00:26:29.05 there's your anchor, every word. 00:26:29.08\00:26:31.35 Absolutely. Absolutely. 00:26:31.39\00:26:34.19 So if Christians can know truth, 00:26:34.22\00:26:36.99 how do we, 00:26:37.03\00:26:38.36 where do we find that in Scripture? 00:26:38.39\00:26:39.73 How can we, can Christians know truth today 00:26:39.76\00:26:42.56 according to the Word of God? 00:26:42.60\00:26:43.93 So why don't, 00:26:43.97\00:26:45.30 why don't we start in Matthew Chapter 4. 00:26:45.33\00:26:46.87 Matthew 4:4, 00:26:46.90\00:26:48.40 because Jesus says something here, 00:26:48.44\00:26:50.24 that to me is fundamental. 00:26:50.27\00:26:52.07 It's just, it kind of, 00:26:52.11\00:26:53.48 it's the foundation of the building 00:26:53.51\00:26:55.61 and everything begins to build on it from there. 00:26:55.64\00:26:58.08 And that is, 00:26:58.11\00:27:00.38 Brother JD, you want to read that Matthew 4:4, 00:27:00.42\00:27:02.28 what does he say then? 00:27:02.32\00:27:03.65 "But he answered and said, 'It is written, 00:27:03.69\00:27:06.15 man shall not live by bread alone, 00:27:06.19\00:27:08.52 but by every word that proceeds from the mouth of God." 00:27:08.56\00:27:12.73 Okay. 00:27:12.76\00:27:14.16 So notice this every word of God, okay, 00:27:14.20\00:27:18.73 we shall live by that. 00:27:18.77\00:27:20.64 Okay. 00:27:20.67\00:27:22.00 But then if you tie that to John 17:17, okay, 00:27:22.04\00:27:25.91 when Jesus is praying in the Garden of Gethsemane, 00:27:25.94\00:27:27.88 what does He say? 00:27:27.91\00:27:29.24 Sanctify them in thy truth, thy word is truth. 00:27:29.28\00:27:31.55 Sanctify them by thy truth, thy word is truth. 00:27:31.58\00:27:37.05 And, of course, I'm going to reference this, 00:27:37.09\00:27:38.52 we won't have to read it at this moment. 00:27:38.55\00:27:39.89 But Psalm 119:160 says the entirety, all of it, 00:27:39.92\00:27:43.69 the entirety of your Word is truth. 00:27:43.73\00:27:46.90 And every one of your righteous judgments endures forever. 00:27:46.93\00:27:51.97 So if you're, if you... 00:27:52.00\00:27:55.67 Let's assume that you're right. 00:27:55.70\00:27:57.31 Okay. Okay. 00:27:57.34\00:27:59.64 Let's assume that what this is saying is right, 00:27:59.67\00:28:02.91 well, then there should be, this should take this, 00:28:02.94\00:28:07.22 this should start covering up that hole, 00:28:07.25\00:28:09.62 the hole should be getting a lot smaller now 00:28:09.65\00:28:12.25 because now we begin 00:28:12.29\00:28:14.22 to stand on something more firm. 00:28:14.26\00:28:15.59 That's right. 00:28:15.62\00:28:16.96 So there is something that's real here, okay. 00:28:16.99\00:28:22.16 But we still are frustrated. 00:28:22.20\00:28:24.60 That's right. 00:28:24.63\00:28:25.97 Some of us... 00:28:26.00\00:28:27.64 Now that, now you're getting, now you, 00:28:27.67\00:28:29.94 see now we're getting to that place 00:28:29.97\00:28:31.41 where we started, 00:28:31.44\00:28:32.77 we know that we know that we know. 00:28:32.81\00:28:35.94 And I would imagine our loved ones out here. 00:28:35.98\00:28:39.61 That's where we all want to get. 00:28:39.65\00:28:42.08 So I'm assuming that what you're saying is, 00:28:42.12\00:28:45.15 well, then you need to get 00:28:45.19\00:28:46.69 have a closer walk with whoever wrote this. 00:28:46.72\00:28:49.29 And then get into this, okay. 00:28:49.32\00:28:51.49 Absolutely. I agree. 00:28:51.53\00:28:53.56 I find that fascinating. 00:28:53.60\00:28:54.93 We just kind of threw out there 00:28:54.96\00:28:56.30 the 40, 000 different denominations or more, 00:28:56.33\00:28:59.00 and it's fascinating that how can that be, 00:28:59.03\00:29:01.80 as we're talking about this absolute truth, 00:29:01.84\00:29:03.20 and I believe there as we're talking here 00:29:03.24\00:29:05.24 is showing me that 00:29:05.27\00:29:06.61 if we pull up just a little pillar, 00:29:06.64\00:29:08.54 some small truth out of the Bible, 00:29:08.58\00:29:10.31 something of the true Word of God, 00:29:10.35\00:29:12.15 and we begin to erode away those pillars 00:29:12.18\00:29:14.05 which hold up the Bible, the truth. 00:29:14.08\00:29:16.02 And once we pull those pillars out, 00:29:16.05\00:29:17.39 then we got these different denominations coming along, 00:29:17.42\00:29:19.22 saying, well, this is truth for this time, or this time, 00:29:19.25\00:29:23.22 all these little things begin to kind of, 00:29:23.26\00:29:24.93 I guess, surface that are not true. 00:29:24.96\00:29:27.66 Someplace in here, we've got to have a hunger. 00:29:27.70\00:29:30.67 We've got to be wired 00:29:30.70\00:29:32.03 so that we want to know what is real. 00:29:32.07\00:29:35.24 And then we have that hunger and that thirst 00:29:35.27\00:29:38.04 to know what is real. 00:29:38.07\00:29:39.54 Otherwise, we're over here in this relative world, 00:29:39.57\00:29:42.44 just floating around, you know, 00:29:42.48\00:29:44.18 and really, not wanting to talk to anybody, 00:29:44.21\00:29:48.65 but yet wanted to talk to somebody, 00:29:48.68\00:29:51.15 and that, this is where it gets really confused. 00:29:51.19\00:29:54.36 Rather than just get that out of the way, Quinn. 00:29:54.39\00:29:58.46 Why don't you make a decision? 00:29:58.49\00:30:00.96 Why don't you step up the plate? 00:30:01.00\00:30:03.13 And go directly to the source 00:30:03.16\00:30:05.63 and I think that He'll lead you into that which is truth. 00:30:05.67\00:30:08.60 And that is, the Word is truth. 00:30:08.64\00:30:11.61 Now help me here. 00:30:11.64\00:30:12.97 No, absolutely. No, you're absolutely right. 00:30:13.01\00:30:14.44 In fact, Psalm 119:105, 00:30:14.48\00:30:16.41 that's one of those famous verses we got. 00:30:16.44\00:30:18.28 What does it say there for the Christian, 00:30:18.31\00:30:20.08 again, for those who profess Jesus Christ, 00:30:20.12\00:30:22.18 "Your word is a lamp unto my feet 00:30:22.22\00:30:25.35 and a light unto my path." 00:30:25.39\00:30:26.72 I don't know about you guys, 00:30:26.76\00:30:28.09 but if you've ever been in complete darkness before, 00:30:28.12\00:30:30.29 and I have experienced a few times in my life, 00:30:30.33\00:30:32.53 complete and total darkness. 00:30:32.56\00:30:33.96 I'm talking about can't see your hand 00:30:34.00\00:30:36.16 in front of your face, dark. 00:30:36.20\00:30:38.97 There's just this, this, this innate, 00:30:39.00\00:30:42.67 kind of just draw this desire 00:30:42.70\00:30:45.41 that you want to see you desire to see. 00:30:45.44\00:30:47.91 And so what do you need? 00:30:47.94\00:30:49.28 You need light. 00:30:49.31\00:30:50.65 And so what God's Word is saying here, 00:30:50.68\00:30:52.41 and God is simply declaring about himself 00:30:52.45\00:30:54.68 about the word itself 00:30:54.72\00:30:56.18 is that it's a light into our feet 00:30:56.22\00:30:58.45 and a lamp unto our feet and a light unto our path. 00:30:58.49\00:31:00.92 And I love Isaiah 8:20. 00:31:00.96\00:31:03.22 Again, we're talking about, 00:31:03.26\00:31:04.59 can Christians know the truth today? 00:31:04.63\00:31:06.49 Can we be sure about it, and that it is absolute truth? 00:31:06.53\00:31:10.20 Isaiah 8:20, 00:31:10.23\00:31:11.57 I love this text to the law and to the testimony. 00:31:11.60\00:31:14.90 If they do not speak according to this word, 00:31:14.94\00:31:17.97 it is because there was no light in them. 00:31:18.01\00:31:20.24 So notice, if the Word of God is a lamp unto our feet 00:31:20.28\00:31:22.88 and a light into our path, 00:31:22.91\00:31:24.61 and we don't speak as Christians 00:31:24.65\00:31:26.28 according to that Word, 00:31:26.31\00:31:27.75 then what is the Word of God say about that? 00:31:27.78\00:31:29.85 There's no light in you. 00:31:29.88\00:31:31.25 You don't have any light in you 00:31:31.29\00:31:32.62 because you have rejected the light 00:31:32.65\00:31:35.26 that is supposed to light your path, 00:31:35.29\00:31:36.69 the Word of God. 00:31:36.73\00:31:38.23 And, you know, 00:31:38.26\00:31:39.59 to illustrate what we've been talking about this far, 00:31:39.63\00:31:41.13 have you ever been at a red light? 00:31:41.16\00:31:44.53 You stopped at a red light, 00:31:44.57\00:31:45.90 you may be in a two-lane situation 00:31:45.93\00:31:47.57 with a car next to you. 00:31:47.60\00:31:49.00 And, you know, you may be for just a second 00:31:49.04\00:31:52.21 or two preoccupied, 00:31:52.24\00:31:53.58 maybe looking down or wherever you find it. 00:31:53.61\00:31:56.18 And then kind of in your peripheral vision, 00:31:56.21\00:31:58.95 you see what appears to be in reality, 00:31:58.98\00:32:03.69 that vehicle beside is moving. 00:32:03.72\00:32:05.99 But to you for a moment, what does it feel like? 00:32:06.02\00:32:09.22 Feels like you're moving. 00:32:09.26\00:32:11.59 What is the natural response, I don't know about you guys, 00:32:11.63\00:32:13.83 but I've been, I found myself in this situation a few times. 00:32:13.86\00:32:19.53 And it's kind of an unnerving feeling. 00:32:19.57\00:32:22.10 Because it kind of plays with your reality 00:32:22.14\00:32:24.97 for a moment 00:32:25.01\00:32:27.04 in your peripheral, this vehicle's moving, 00:32:27.08\00:32:29.64 but it almost seems like you're the one moving. 00:32:29.68\00:32:32.15 And so what do you do to make sure 00:32:32.18\00:32:35.18 that you reground yourself to the absolute reality? 00:32:35.22\00:32:39.89 Well, I don't know about you guys. 00:32:39.92\00:32:41.69 But I find something near me 00:32:41.72\00:32:44.06 that is what I would consider to be absolute, right? 00:32:44.09\00:32:46.93 A fundamental absolute thing. 00:32:46.96\00:32:48.63 I may find me a pole that's immovable, 00:32:48.66\00:32:50.70 a building, a tree, 00:32:50.73\00:32:52.07 that tree's not going anywhere, 00:32:52.10\00:32:53.60 that tree stays grounded in the ground, right? 00:32:53.64\00:32:55.74 So it's rooted in the ground. 00:32:55.77\00:32:57.17 You look for that absolute 00:32:57.21\00:32:58.77 to measure the reality that you're in 00:32:58.81\00:33:01.78 so that you can find that direct answer. 00:33:01.81\00:33:03.55 Okay. 00:33:03.58\00:33:04.91 I'm not the one moving, he was. All right. 00:33:04.95\00:33:06.88 For a moment it almost seemed like, 00:33:06.92\00:33:08.38 you know, but yet we live in a world today 00:33:08.42\00:33:10.65 where it seems like those absolutes 00:33:10.69\00:33:13.46 that tree, is that tree grounded? 00:33:13.49\00:33:15.56 That's what people would say, is that tree really there? 00:33:15.59\00:33:18.13 Is that pole really there? Is that building really there? 00:33:18.16\00:33:20.30 Is the sky really blue? 00:33:20.33\00:33:22.26 You know, 00:33:22.30\00:33:23.63 I know, we're getting into some stuff here. 00:33:23.67\00:33:25.07 But you know, you know what I... 00:33:25.10\00:33:27.17 I know that they say that 00:33:27.20\00:33:28.54 I was born with the equipment of a male. 00:33:28.57\00:33:32.27 But in my reality, 00:33:32.31\00:33:34.98 I feel like I might be a female. 00:33:35.01\00:33:39.28 You see how the lines can get blurred? 00:33:39.31\00:33:40.85 And here's what's interesting in recent studies, 00:33:40.88\00:33:42.72 and I'm going to bring up some more studies 00:33:42.75\00:33:44.09 in just a moment. 00:33:44.12\00:33:45.55 These are real, legitimate research studies 00:33:45.59\00:33:48.62 that have been done inside the evangelical churches. 00:33:48.66\00:33:51.29 One in four. 00:33:51.33\00:33:52.66 This is just an example. 00:33:52.69\00:33:54.03 I found that as of as of 2020, a recent study done in 2020, 00:33:54.06\00:33:57.63 one in four Christians no longer believe 00:33:57.67\00:34:00.74 in absolute distinction between genders. 00:34:00.77\00:34:03.94 One in four Christians. 00:34:03.97\00:34:06.07 That's huge. That's huge. 00:34:06.11\00:34:08.18 We're talking about professed Christians 00:34:08.21\00:34:10.15 that when they pick this up, Brother, 00:34:10.18\00:34:12.28 and they say this is, I'm a Christian, 00:34:12.31\00:34:14.28 I believe in this Word. 00:34:14.32\00:34:15.65 I believe in what this is considered to be truth. 00:34:15.68\00:34:18.29 But again, this is an absolute truth 00:34:18.32\00:34:20.49 for those one in four Christians 00:34:20.52\00:34:21.96 who say, you know what, 00:34:21.99\00:34:23.32 I'm of the opinion that you know what, it's up to you. 00:34:23.36\00:34:25.86 It's your choice. 00:34:25.89\00:34:27.23 If you want to be a boy, you can be a boy, 00:34:27.26\00:34:28.60 you want to be a girl, you can be a girl 00:34:28.63\00:34:29.96 regardless of your physical anatomy. 00:34:30.00\00:34:33.54 It's quite interesting 00:34:33.57\00:34:34.97 when you start really considering the depth of this 00:34:35.00\00:34:37.91 because we live in a world today, my friends, 00:34:37.94\00:34:39.81 where the fundamental truths of God's Word 00:34:39.84\00:34:42.41 are being chipped out. 00:34:42.44\00:34:43.78 They're eroding away slowly but surely. 00:34:43.81\00:34:46.01 Touching on what the Lord impressed me to share earlier, 00:34:46.05\00:34:48.58 Romans 1:25-32 is really the story 00:34:48.62\00:34:54.19 but it's like you're saying 00:34:54.22\00:34:56.26 the chipped away when this happens, 00:34:56.29\00:34:59.06 why is it that our world 00:34:59.09\00:35:01.70 we're in right now is so perplexing, 00:35:01.73\00:35:03.26 confused even about gender, about all these things. 00:35:03.30\00:35:06.30 And I think God really explains really well in Romans 1:25. 00:35:06.33\00:35:10.21 It says, these are even Christians. 00:35:10.24\00:35:12.44 It says, 00:35:12.47\00:35:13.81 "Who changed the truth of God into a lie, 00:35:13.84\00:35:16.64 and worshipped and served the creature 00:35:16.68\00:35:18.21 more than the Creator, who is blessed forever. 00:35:18.25\00:35:19.61 Amen." 00:35:19.65\00:35:20.98 So, the way I read 00:35:21.02\00:35:22.35 this is almost like the creature puts itself 00:35:22.38\00:35:24.09 above the Creator and it starts doing, 00:35:24.12\00:35:25.59 using his own reasoning. 00:35:25.62\00:35:26.96 And guess what it says in verse 26, 00:35:26.99\00:35:28.32 "For this cause, 00:35:28.36\00:35:29.69 God gave them up into vile affections." 00:35:29.72\00:35:32.49 We exchange a truth of God for lie. 00:35:32.53\00:35:33.90 So relativism, this is what causes the change. 00:35:33.93\00:35:36.53 For this cause God gave them up unto vile affections: 00:35:36.56\00:35:39.40 for even their women did change the natural use into that 00:35:39.43\00:35:42.54 which is against nature. 00:35:42.57\00:35:43.97 And likewise also the men, 00:35:44.01\00:35:45.34 leaving the natural use of the woman, 00:35:45.37\00:35:46.71 burned in their lust one toward another, 00:35:46.74\00:35:49.04 men with men working that which is unseemly, 00:35:49.08\00:35:51.75 and receiving in themselves 00:35:51.78\00:35:53.11 that recompence of their error which was meet. 00:35:53.15\00:35:55.62 And even as they did not like 00:35:55.65\00:35:57.12 to retain God in their knowledge, 00:35:57.15\00:35:59.25 God gave them over to a reprobate mind, 00:35:59.29\00:36:00.99 to do those things which are not convenient," 00:36:01.02\00:36:02.66 and it goes into, 00:36:02.69\00:36:04.03 "being filled with all unrighteousness, 00:36:04.06\00:36:05.39 fornication, wickedness, covetousness, maliciousness, 00:36:05.43\00:36:08.56 full of envy, murder, debate, deceit, malignity, whisperers, 00:36:08.60\00:36:11.83 backbiters, haters of God, despiteful, proud, boasters, 00:36:11.87\00:36:16.44 inventors of evil things, disobedient to parents, 00:36:16.47\00:36:18.87 " we see a lot of that, " 00:36:18.91\00:36:20.24 without understanding, covenant breakers, 00:36:20.28\00:36:22.64 without natural affection, implacable, obstinate, 00:36:22.68\00:36:25.71 unmerciful: 00:36:25.75\00:36:27.08 Who knowing the judgment of God, 00:36:27.12\00:36:28.45 that they which commit such things 00:36:28.48\00:36:29.82 are worthy of death, 00:36:29.85\00:36:31.19 not only do the same, 00:36:31.22\00:36:32.55 but have pleasure in them that do them." 00:36:32.59\00:36:33.92 So this is kind of a list of what happens 00:36:33.96\00:36:35.29 when we believe in this idea of relativism, 00:36:35.32\00:36:37.43 that truth is relative. 00:36:37.46\00:36:38.89 It's a slippery slope. 00:36:38.93\00:36:40.50 You can see what's going on right here as we, 00:36:40.53\00:36:42.10 this truth be exchanged. 00:36:42.13\00:36:43.60 So you know, I don't want anything of this truth. 00:36:43.63\00:36:45.43 I'm just going to worship and serve 00:36:45.47\00:36:46.80 what I believe is right. 00:36:46.84\00:36:48.17 That's right. 00:36:48.20\00:36:49.54 But it's quite interesting, though. 00:36:49.57\00:36:50.91 You're bringing up 00:36:50.94\00:36:52.27 and as you're reading through that passage, 00:36:52.31\00:36:53.64 as a Christian, I'm saying, 00:36:53.68\00:36:55.01 and I don't know about you, guys, 00:36:55.04\00:36:56.38 when I read that, 00:36:56.41\00:36:57.75 there's not a slightest thought in my mind where I go, 00:36:57.78\00:37:00.02 Yeah, you know, I think I'm going to. 00:37:00.05\00:37:01.98 I think like that's subject to opinion. 00:37:02.02\00:37:05.05 That's subject to my own perception of what I believe. 00:37:05.09\00:37:08.42 When I read that, to me, that's absolute. 00:37:08.46\00:37:10.93 But we live in a world today 00:37:10.96\00:37:12.46 where Christians, 00:37:12.49\00:37:13.83 hence the reason why we're having this study 00:37:13.86\00:37:15.73 Christians, again, talking about Christian. 00:37:15.76\00:37:18.77 I can't keep saying that enough, 00:37:18.80\00:37:20.24 professed Christians who have this idea 00:37:20.27\00:37:23.07 that they can read passages like what you just read, 00:37:23.10\00:37:26.37 some of the ones that we have read, 00:37:26.41\00:37:27.84 and then we're going to read in the remaining, 00:37:27.88\00:37:29.44 remainder of the study. 00:37:29.48\00:37:30.81 And they have created this ideology within them 00:37:30.85\00:37:34.32 that says, you know what, 00:37:34.35\00:37:35.68 I have my own opinion about that. 00:37:35.72\00:37:37.72 What is truth, that you can read that 00:37:37.75\00:37:39.32 and get your own truth. 00:37:39.35\00:37:40.79 And I read that and I get a different truth. 00:37:40.82\00:37:44.13 And this is actually backed by credible evidence. 00:37:44.16\00:37:47.56 This is just one I just want to mention here. 00:37:47.60\00:37:49.26 In a 2018 LifeWay Research study, 00:37:49.30\00:37:52.30 they asked 00:37:52.33\00:37:53.67 they serve a multitude of evangelical Christians. 00:37:53.70\00:37:58.07 And this was the result they got from a statement. 00:37:58.11\00:38:00.08 I'm going to read this statement, 00:38:00.11\00:38:01.44 and I'm going to give you the shocking statistics, 00:38:01.48\00:38:04.48 according to the results that they got back from this. 00:38:04.51\00:38:06.48 So here's the statement 00:38:06.51\00:38:07.98 that was made by the LifeWay Research Center. 00:38:08.02\00:38:10.52 Again, trying to get some feedback 00:38:10.55\00:38:11.95 on whether or not Christians 00:38:11.99\00:38:13.66 evangelicals agreed with the statement. 00:38:13.69\00:38:16.09 So here's the statement. 00:38:16.12\00:38:17.46 Religious belief is a matter of personal opinion 00:38:17.49\00:38:21.36 and is not objective truth. 00:38:21.40\00:38:23.20 Wow. 00:38:23.23\00:38:24.57 So in other words, 00:38:24.60\00:38:26.57 it's a matter of personal opinion, 00:38:26.60\00:38:27.94 it's subjective, it's whatever I want it to be. 00:38:27.97\00:38:30.97 Okay, so they're asking, 00:38:31.01\00:38:32.34 do you or do you not agree with this? 00:38:32.37\00:38:34.21 Get this. 00:38:34.24\00:38:35.58 Only 47% of the evangelical Christians 00:38:35.61\00:38:40.18 that responded to this survey 00:38:40.22\00:38:42.38 strongly disagreed with that statement. 00:38:42.42\00:38:44.35 Wow. 00:38:44.39\00:38:45.72 So there's 53% that are... 00:38:45.75\00:38:47.82 Fifty three percent 00:38:47.86\00:38:49.92 more than half of the evangelical Christians, 00:38:49.96\00:38:53.26 and I can't, I just, it just baffles me. 00:38:53.29\00:38:56.30 Again, 53% of the evangelicals, according to the passage, 00:38:56.33\00:39:00.87 you just read. 00:39:00.90\00:39:02.24 Would look at that passage and say, 00:39:02.27\00:39:03.61 "Well, I see it this way, 00:39:03.64\00:39:06.74 or I don't necessarily agree with the wording, 00:39:06.78\00:39:08.91 I see it more this way. 00:39:08.94\00:39:10.41 And they come up with their own opinionated, 00:39:10.45\00:39:12.88 subjective reasoning 00:39:12.91\00:39:14.62 as to why that statement is true 00:39:14.65\00:39:17.32 only according to their standards, 00:39:17.35\00:39:18.69 rather than what of thus saith the Lord actually says. 00:39:18.72\00:39:20.56 In other words, 00:39:20.59\00:39:21.92 you can't really take it literal, 00:39:21.96\00:39:23.29 you can't, it's not objective, it's not grounded, 00:39:23.32\00:39:25.09 it's subject to opinion, 00:39:25.13\00:39:26.63 which is why you have many Christians today, 00:39:26.66\00:39:29.56 who believe and think that homosexuality, 00:39:29.60\00:39:32.43 and I'm just giving that as an example. 00:39:32.47\00:39:34.10 And we can go on to use other examples too. 00:39:34.14\00:39:37.17 You know, adultery, and all these other things. 00:39:37.21\00:39:39.77 You got Christians that think it's okay now 00:39:39.81\00:39:42.58 to live in those lifestyles because we're under grace. 00:39:42.61\00:39:46.18 And Jesus understands that we have this bad equipment, 00:39:46.21\00:39:48.55 this bad nature. 00:39:48.58\00:39:49.92 And so truth is subjective. 00:39:49.95\00:39:54.69 So that was interesting to me, 00:39:54.72\00:39:57.29 as I was looking at that research 00:39:57.33\00:40:00.46 that more than half of the Christians 00:40:00.50\00:40:03.13 that responded, 00:40:03.16\00:40:04.50 believe that the truth is subjective 00:40:04.53\00:40:08.64 rather than objective, that it's subject to opinion. 00:40:08.67\00:40:11.57 And so I have to ask 00:40:11.61\00:40:12.94 as we're talking about 00:40:12.97\00:40:14.31 harping on the Bible here, gentlemen. 00:40:14.34\00:40:15.84 Why should the Bible be received 00:40:15.88\00:40:17.55 as the ultimate truth? 00:40:17.58\00:40:19.38 As we're considering all that we're talking about, 00:40:19.41\00:40:22.08 what is it about the Bible that, 00:40:22.12\00:40:24.32 what points can we make here? 00:40:24.35\00:40:25.95 What conclusions can we come to? 00:40:25.99\00:40:27.66 For reasons that that tell us 00:40:27.69\00:40:30.26 that the Bible should be received 00:40:30.29\00:40:32.09 as ultimate truth. 00:40:32.13\00:40:33.46 It's hard to shift gears here 00:40:36.53\00:40:38.47 and answer that question at the same time, 00:40:38.50\00:40:41.20 but I'm going to try. 00:40:41.24\00:40:43.00 Now, go ahead. 00:40:43.04\00:40:44.37 Before there was a Bible, there was a God. 00:40:44.41\00:40:48.44 And He did speak 00:40:48.48\00:40:49.81 and there was an ultimate truth, 00:40:49.84\00:40:52.21 immovable tree with roots. 00:40:52.25\00:40:55.08 Right. Okay. 00:40:55.12\00:40:57.52 It was called the conscience. 00:40:57.55\00:41:00.32 There were people who never entered a church 00:41:00.36\00:41:02.02 and they knew right from wrong, 00:41:02.06\00:41:04.23 because the conscience is the voice of God. 00:41:04.26\00:41:08.56 If you think about it, 00:41:08.60\00:41:10.07 Satan can impress us with thoughts. 00:41:10.10\00:41:13.90 The Holy Spirit's job is to impress us with thoughts. 00:41:13.94\00:41:19.27 And you can have a premonition. 00:41:19.31\00:41:22.08 A premonition is simply a righteous thought from God 00:41:22.11\00:41:25.95 or an unrighteous thought from not the Holy Spirit, 00:41:25.98\00:41:30.29 but the unholy spirit. 00:41:30.32\00:41:31.65 So we're in a war. 00:41:31.69\00:41:33.22 And the conscience tells us, 00:41:33.25\00:41:36.52 I should not steal my neighbor's chicken. 00:41:36.56\00:41:39.96 Right. 00:41:40.00\00:41:41.33 You don't have to go to church to know that. 00:41:41.36\00:41:43.50 And so there is a truth 00:41:43.53\00:41:45.20 even back then there was a truth. 00:41:45.23\00:41:46.74 Right. 00:41:46.77\00:41:48.10 Is the conscience is part of it. 00:41:48.14\00:41:49.64 That's the Word of God. Amen. 00:41:49.67\00:41:51.44 See, when the Word of God comes, 00:41:51.47\00:41:53.34 we know that's the anchor, 00:41:53.38\00:41:55.81 and it comes indeed in ways without a book. 00:41:55.84\00:41:59.48 Absolutely. It doesn't move. 00:50:03.03\00:50:05.73 And so, how then can you overcome sin? 00:50:05.77\00:50:09.00 Well, God tells us to pray for grace. 00:50:09.04\00:50:12.37 My grace is sufficient. 00:50:12.41\00:50:15.41 How is it sufficient? 00:50:15.44\00:50:16.78 Well, His blood at the cross paid for the wages of sin, 00:50:16.81\00:50:21.62 which is death. 00:50:21.65\00:50:22.98 That's mercy and pardon. 00:50:23.02\00:50:25.15 But I'm still sinning. So what's the deal? 00:50:25.19\00:50:28.29 How can you possibly overcome sin? 00:50:28.32\00:50:31.23 Well, if you look up grace, it simply says, 00:50:31.26\00:50:33.96 it's pardon and power. 00:50:34.00\00:50:37.00 Now, when you read the Bible, and you read grace, 00:50:37.03\00:50:39.20 put power in the place of that word, 00:50:39.23\00:50:41.24 and see what happens. 00:50:41.27\00:50:42.87 That's God's power, not mine. 00:50:42.90\00:50:45.51 So you have to join. 00:50:45.54\00:50:47.51 Get that spirit in you and walk with God 00:50:47.54\00:50:50.88 and live according to God, speak as God speaks. 00:50:50.91\00:50:54.18 And you can see a lot of people, 00:50:54.22\00:50:56.05 a lot of people will walk that walk outwardly, 00:50:56.08\00:51:01.39 but inwardly, their heart is different. 00:51:01.42\00:51:04.43 Let me read this here. 00:51:04.46\00:51:05.79 This is a Psalms 14:1-2. 00:51:05.83\00:51:10.83 A Psalm of David, 00:51:10.87\00:51:12.33 "Lord, who shall abide in thy tabernacle, 00:51:12.37\00:51:15.57 who shall dwell in thy holy hill." 00:51:15.60\00:51:18.24 We're talking about who's going to be saved here, 00:51:18.27\00:51:21.11 "And he says he that walketh uprightly, 00:51:21.14\00:51:23.95 and work with righteousness," 00:51:23.98\00:51:26.18 which we're failing at, 00:51:26.21\00:51:27.95 and the preachers know too, okay, 00:51:27.98\00:51:30.29 "and speaketh the truth in his heart." 00:51:30.32\00:51:35.42 There's the difference. You can't just act it out. 00:51:35.46\00:51:40.83 You have to know that inside you, 00:51:40.86\00:51:42.96 you're not a dog 00:51:43.00\00:51:44.33 that's going to return to your vomit 00:51:44.37\00:51:46.20 as the Bible says. 00:51:46.23\00:51:47.84 And that means 00:51:47.87\00:51:49.40 they don't speak with guile when they're preaching. 00:51:49.44\00:51:51.67 They don't say well like offshoots, 00:51:51.71\00:51:53.38 offshoots know the program, they teach the program, 00:51:53.41\00:51:57.01 but they make it a little easy 00:51:57.05\00:51:58.41 when it comes to music or dress 00:51:58.45\00:51:59.88 or food or some other thing, 00:51:59.91\00:52:01.48 you know, and they use guile, 00:52:01.52\00:52:06.05 the same old trick that Satan used. 00:52:06.09\00:52:09.59 Surely you shall not die 00:52:09.62\00:52:11.99 and so we have to have a heart turn toward God. 00:52:12.03\00:52:16.30 We have to be willing to lay down our favorite things 00:52:16.33\00:52:20.77 and say no more. 00:52:20.80\00:52:23.67 And it may come to the point where in Revelation it says, 00:52:23.71\00:52:28.31 there'll be a death decree. 00:52:28.34\00:52:30.48 Are you ready to lay down your life? 00:52:30.51\00:52:31.98 Because in that chapter, in Revelation, it says, 00:52:32.01\00:52:38.09 the saints have the faith not in Jesus, 00:52:38.12\00:52:42.52 it changes and says, 00:52:42.56\00:52:44.03 they have the faith of Jesus, 00:52:44.06\00:52:46.36 and He was willing to lay His life down for us. 00:52:46.39\00:52:49.73 How much are we willing to show our love 00:52:49.76\00:52:51.97 for what He did for us? 00:52:52.00\00:52:53.70 Because He's offering us eternal life restored? 00:52:53.74\00:52:56.64 What is that worth? 00:52:56.67\00:52:58.01 Right. 00:52:58.04\00:52:59.37 It made me think about this word law. 00:52:59.41\00:53:00.91 We're talking, maybe think about 00:53:00.94\00:53:02.31 we need called boundaries, we need boundaries. 00:53:02.34\00:53:04.51 That's what that law does, it keeps us in boundaries. 00:53:04.55\00:53:07.12 So we can walk on that narrow path, 00:53:07.15\00:53:08.65 is kind of you're discussing or describing. 00:53:08.68\00:53:10.89 You know, otherwise, 00:53:10.92\00:53:12.25 we're just kind of meandering wherever 00:53:12.29\00:53:13.62 and then we're getting lost. 00:53:13.66\00:53:14.99 So we were talking about this idea of relativism 00:53:15.02\00:53:16.36 versus absolute, 00:53:16.39\00:53:17.73 you know, 00:53:17.76\00:53:19.09 this absolutely keeps us on a narrow path. 00:53:19.13\00:53:20.70 But if we don't have that law, 00:53:20.73\00:53:22.23 then we're just going to go wherever 00:53:22.26\00:53:23.60 this path wants to takes us. 00:53:23.63\00:53:24.97 We're just wherever we're meandering, 00:53:25.00\00:53:26.53 I think about that Christian progress, 00:53:26.57\00:53:28.44 pilgrim's progress, 00:53:28.47\00:53:30.21 where, you know, Christian gets off the path 00:53:30.24\00:53:31.87 and so stay in the king's highway, 00:53:31.91\00:53:33.78 and the king's way. 00:53:33.81\00:53:35.14 And he's like, well, how'd you get over here? 00:53:35.18\00:53:37.11 I just meandered over and got lost 00:53:37.15\00:53:38.78 and you get lost in this filth, this junk, 00:53:38.81\00:53:40.92 you're in this pollution. 00:53:40.95\00:53:42.38 If you stay on God's way, which is His law, 00:53:42.42\00:53:45.39 you won't go and fall 00:53:45.42\00:53:46.76 in that pollution and filth, so. 00:53:46.79\00:53:48.36 And His way is absolute. Right. Exactly. 00:53:48.39\00:53:50.63 There is no, I think it was, 00:53:50.66\00:53:51.99 I think it was Oprah Winfrey that said years ago. 00:53:52.03\00:53:53.83 And I actually have video footage of this, 00:53:53.86\00:53:56.30 where she actually said to, 00:53:56.33\00:53:57.87 'cause she's through making a point 00:53:57.90\00:53:59.73 that she has one of the largest churches in the world, 00:53:59.77\00:54:01.84 maybe one of the largest she has. 00:54:01.87\00:54:03.57 Her did almost she stood us, 00:54:03.61\00:54:04.94 but did at one time 00:54:04.97\00:54:06.31 have this huge online church following 00:54:06.34\00:54:08.64 and said to all of her followers 00:54:08.68\00:54:10.28 or your church goers, 00:54:10.31\00:54:11.88 that you know, Jesus isn't the only way. 00:54:11.91\00:54:14.42 But there's many, many different ways too. 00:54:14.45\00:54:15.78 I remember, yeah. 00:54:15.82\00:54:17.15 And so as you're bringing that up again, 00:54:17.19\00:54:18.55 that's another that's that, 00:54:18.59\00:54:20.19 that idea that I have my own truth. 00:54:20.22\00:54:22.02 Find your own truth. 00:54:22.06\00:54:23.59 Locate whatever truth it is that works for you, 00:54:23.63\00:54:26.26 and just follow that you knew, your own rap. 00:54:26.29\00:54:29.00 That's not, there's no, that's relativism. 00:54:29.03\00:54:31.40 That's not objective truth. 00:54:31.43\00:54:32.77 And we know that the Bible teaches 00:54:32.80\00:54:34.27 and I love what Brother JD brought out earlier 00:54:34.30\00:54:36.14 because he was setting us on the right path. 00:54:36.17\00:54:37.97 You know why so many Christians struggle 00:54:38.01\00:54:40.44 with this concept of objective truth, 00:54:40.48\00:54:42.34 you know, absolute truth, is they quench the spirit. 00:54:42.38\00:54:46.11 And when we quench the spirit, 00:54:46.15\00:54:48.02 and we are basically grieving the Holy Spirit, 00:54:48.05\00:54:52.59 then that Holy Spirit which Jesus referred to 00:54:52.62\00:54:54.52 as the Spirit of truth, 00:54:54.56\00:54:56.62 that He would come according to John 16:13 as you read, 00:54:56.66\00:54:59.79 The Spirit of truth, 00:54:59.83\00:55:01.16 He will come and guide you into how much truth? 00:55:01.20\00:55:02.66 All truth. 00:55:02.70\00:55:04.03 When you quench that spirit, 00:55:04.07\00:55:05.40 when you quench this Holy Spirit of God, 00:55:05.43\00:55:07.24 you're taking away that life source. 00:55:07.27\00:55:09.27 You're taking away the moral spiritual compass 00:55:09.30\00:55:12.11 that points you to that absolute truth. 00:55:12.14\00:55:14.48 And it's always going to come back to God's Word, 00:55:14.51\00:55:16.61 it's always going to come back to God's Word. 00:55:16.64\00:55:18.61 And so, my friends, in closing, 00:55:18.65\00:55:20.12 now we got two minutes really quickly. 00:55:20.15\00:55:22.65 Time's ticking away. 00:55:22.68\00:55:24.12 How can we in closing here, 00:55:24.15\00:55:25.55 how can we make sure that we remain grounded 00:55:25.59\00:55:28.06 in the truth of God's Word and not in our own way? 00:55:28.09\00:55:30.23 What are some principles? 00:55:30.26\00:55:31.59 Well, I would just like to take one I love Proverbs 3:5-7. 00:55:31.63\00:55:35.40 This is one that we should all. 00:55:35.43\00:55:37.17 This is one 00:55:37.20\00:55:38.53 that you need to put in the front of your Bible. 00:55:38.57\00:55:40.20 "Trust in the Lord with all of your heart, " 00:55:40.24\00:55:42.80 not part of your heart, all of your heart, 00:55:42.84\00:55:45.07 "lean not on your own understanding. 00:55:45.11\00:55:47.08 And in all your ways acknowledge Him, 00:55:47.11\00:55:49.01 and He shall direct your paths." 00:55:49.04\00:55:52.55 Do not be wise in your own eyes, 00:55:52.58\00:55:55.25 and count on the Holy Spirit, the Holy Spirit. 00:55:55.28\00:55:57.55 If you get outside the boundaries, 00:55:57.59\00:55:58.92 the Holy Spirit will make it perfectly clear to you. 00:55:58.95\00:56:01.56 You know, hey, you're veering out. 00:56:01.59\00:56:03.99 So, trust in the Lord. 00:56:04.03\00:56:06.29 Amen.
