It's a deep song. 00:02:44.29\00:02:46.36 Very much in there, yeah, it's a beautiful song. 00:02:46.39\00:02:48.20 So... 00:02:48.23\00:02:49.56 And we're gonna talk about this, 00:02:49.60\00:02:51.50 and I think it's gonna be a great blessing. 00:02:51.53\00:02:52.87 So we hope that you'll stay by. 00:02:52.90\00:02:54.70 I would like to ask Brother Jonathan Babb, 00:02:54.74\00:02:56.77 if you'll lead us in prayer, 00:02:56.81\00:02:58.44 and if you join us at home we would really appreciate it. 00:02:58.47\00:03:01.41 Let's bow our heads. 00:03:01.44\00:03:03.24 Dear, Lord, we thank You for a wonderful Friday evening 00:03:03.28\00:03:06.55 that we can open the Sabbath. 00:03:06.58\00:03:09.98 Bring in the Sabbath with our family, Lord. 00:03:10.02\00:03:14.12 Each one of us that we can spend it with You, 00:03:14.16\00:03:16.93 and set our minds and hearts on You 00:03:16.96\00:03:19.46 for the day and week to come. 00:03:19.49\00:03:22.26 We ask that You guide our thoughts 00:03:22.30\00:03:24.23 as we study Your Word, 00:03:24.27\00:03:26.03 that You may fulfill 00:03:26.07\00:03:28.17 and guide each of our words that we may speak. 00:03:28.20\00:03:31.74 Amen. Amen. 00:03:31.77\00:03:33.31 Amen. Thank you very much. 00:03:33.34\00:03:35.84 I like the way he mentioned, 00:03:35.88\00:03:37.48 you know, he said Friday evening, 00:03:37.51\00:03:39.41 some people for some reason are not fully capturing yet, 00:03:39.45\00:03:44.85 the understanding that the days of the week 00:03:44.89\00:03:47.16 began with the evening part. 00:03:47.19\00:03:49.72 And that's what it says 00:03:49.76\00:03:51.09 when you go to Genesis Chapter 1. 00:03:51.13\00:03:53.13 And later in Leviticus, it says 00:03:53.16\00:03:54.50 from evening to evening shall be your Sabbath. 00:03:54.53\00:03:57.70 And so Friday evening is when the sun sets 00:03:57.73\00:04:01.74 is the beginning of the Sabbath. 00:04:01.77\00:04:03.71 What is the Sabbath? 00:04:03.74\00:04:05.14 What is the Sabbath? 00:04:05.17\00:04:07.08 Of course, when we think of the Sabbath 00:04:07.11\00:04:08.94 is a day of the week. 00:04:08.98\00:04:10.45 Well, when you look in the calendar, 00:04:10.48\00:04:11.81 it doesn't say which one of those days, 00:04:11.85\00:04:14.05 it doesn't say Sabbath. 00:04:14.08\00:04:15.42 It says Sunday, Monday, 00:04:15.45\00:04:16.89 Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, 00:04:16.92\00:04:19.25 and then it says Saturday. 00:04:19.29\00:04:21.06 And it's a confusion for some people. 00:04:21.09\00:04:23.09 Which day of the week is? 00:04:23.12\00:04:25.29 Well, he already mentioned, 00:04:25.33\00:04:26.66 the Sabbath begins at Friday night. 00:04:26.70\00:04:29.93 But let's look at Luke 4:16. 00:04:29.96\00:04:32.33 And see some, 00:04:32.37\00:04:35.90 something that we would like to share with you. 00:04:35.94\00:04:38.37 Luke 4:16. 00:04:38.41\00:04:39.97 If someone has found it, 00:04:40.01\00:04:41.34 would you do us the favor of reading it? 00:04:41.38\00:04:42.98 Sure. 00:04:43.01\00:04:44.35 It says in verse 16, 00:04:44.38\00:04:45.71 "And He believed Jesus," right? 00:04:45.75\00:04:47.88 "Jesus came to Nazareth, where He had been brought up. 00:04:47.92\00:04:50.75 And as His," being Jesus, 00:04:50.79\00:04:52.45 "again custom was He went into the synagogue 00:04:52.49\00:04:54.76 on the Sabbath day 00:04:54.79\00:04:56.12 and stood up for to read."? 00:04:56.16\00:04:57.99 Thank you. 00:04:58.03\00:04:59.36 And so we see here that it was the custom of Jesus 00:04:59.39\00:05:04.70 to go to the synagogue, in other words, 00:05:04.73\00:05:07.94 what was known as the local church 00:05:07.97\00:05:09.74 in those days, 00:05:09.77\00:05:11.11 on the Sabbath day and stood up to read. 00:05:11.14\00:05:13.61 So it was His custom to do this thing. 00:05:13.64\00:05:16.34 In keeping with the commandment, 00:05:16.38\00:05:18.41 the fourth commandment of the Ten Commandments 00:05:18.45\00:05:21.98 found in Exodus 20:8-11, 00:05:22.02\00:05:27.26 where it tells us to us 00:05:27.29\00:05:28.62 to remember the Sabbath day, to keep it holy, 00:05:28.66\00:05:30.89 and then it gives us details about the Sabbath day. 00:05:30.93\00:05:33.50 And it ends with saying, for in six days 00:05:33.53\00:05:35.46 the Lord created the heavens and the earth, 00:05:35.50\00:05:37.73 gives us the reason why He wants us to remember. 00:05:37.77\00:05:39.57 He wants us to remember Him as our creator. 00:05:39.60\00:05:44.04 Do you have any comments you would like to share 00:05:44.07\00:05:45.77 about the Sabbath or the custom of Jesus keeping the Sabbath? 00:05:45.81\00:05:49.84 You know, what's interesting, though, is that we really find, 00:05:49.88\00:05:52.01 I can't remember the scripture, just esc ape me, 00:05:52.05\00:05:53.85 usually it can come to my mind, 00:05:53.88\00:05:55.42 but Jesus is Lord of the Sabbath. 00:05:55.45\00:05:57.89 Yes. 00:05:57.92\00:05:59.25 And so why wouldn't He want to go in on the Sabbath day. 00:05:59.29\00:06:02.99 He's in since His synagogue really, 00:06:03.02\00:06:05.09 I mean Jesus, so He would keep the Sabbath 00:06:05.13\00:06:07.40 because He's setting us an example to follow. 00:06:07.43\00:06:10.27 And He delighted in spending time 00:06:10.30\00:06:11.93 with His people, 00:06:11.97\00:06:13.50 you know, sometimes do we, 00:06:13.54\00:06:15.70 you know, delight in spending time with people. 00:06:15.74\00:06:18.14 Sometimes, I don't know if we... 00:06:18.17\00:06:20.74 We want to just be recluse 00:06:20.78\00:06:22.11 but He always wanted to be about the people. 00:06:22.14\00:06:23.65 He's always throng, 00:06:23.68\00:06:25.01 He liked to mingle with the people, 00:06:25.05\00:06:26.38 where else would you be on the Sabbath, 00:06:26.41\00:06:27.75 but mingling there in the synagogue, so... 00:06:27.78\00:06:30.72 That's right. Yeah. 00:06:30.75\00:06:32.09 That's right. Anyone else? 00:06:32.12\00:06:34.46 You know, I'm looking here while you're looking 00:06:34.49\00:06:36.02 or you're thinking and looking. 00:06:36.06\00:06:37.96 And looking at Acts 18:4. 00:06:37.99\00:06:44.83 This is talking about Paul. 00:06:44.87\00:06:50.37 And so you can see this beginning of Acts 18:1, 00:06:50.41\00:06:55.64 I'll read verse 3 and 4. 00:06:55.68\00:06:57.25 "So because he was of the same trade, 00:06:57.28\00:06:59.55 he stayed with them and worked. 00:06:59.58\00:07:01.28 And by occupation they were tentmakers. 00:07:01.32\00:07:05.62 And he reasoned in the synagogue every Sabbath, 00:07:05.65\00:07:09.56 and persuaded both Jews and Greeks." 00:07:09.59\00:07:13.90 So we have here a scripture that helps us understand 00:07:13.93\00:07:17.67 that the apostles, Paul and others, 00:07:17.70\00:07:21.70 they kept the Sabbath. 00:07:21.74\00:07:23.24 And you see that it included both Jews and Greeks in here. 00:07:23.27\00:07:27.91 And so the Sabbath is still the day of the Lord. 00:07:27.94\00:07:30.78 He says, 00:07:30.81\00:07:32.15 "Remember the Sabbath day to keep it holy." 00:07:32.18\00:07:33.52 Six days shall your labor and do all your work, 00:07:33.55\00:07:36.02 not only you, but your son, your daughters, 00:07:36.05\00:07:39.45 everyone in your household basically. 00:07:39.49\00:07:41.69 And so the Sabbath is a great blessing 00:07:41.72\00:07:44.76 and a great joy. 00:07:44.79\00:07:46.63 What could you share as far as the Sabbath being a blessing? 00:07:46.66\00:07:50.30 Any comments about that? 00:07:50.33\00:07:51.77 To me, the Sabbath is a blessing and I'm thinking 00:07:51.80\00:07:54.77 about how the Lord has always had a people 00:07:54.80\00:07:59.44 that have kept the Sabbath. 00:07:59.47\00:08:01.24 Always. 00:08:01.28\00:08:02.61 Like He's always had people through the ages. 00:08:02.64\00:08:04.81 And the word Sabbath, 00:08:04.85\00:08:09.18 I think is interesting how Abba is in there. 00:08:09.22\00:08:12.99 And Abba means father. 00:08:13.02\00:08:16.39 And so I don't know if that was, you know, 00:08:16.42\00:08:20.76 just because of the language 00:08:20.80\00:08:22.13 or if there was any kind of connection 00:08:22.16\00:08:23.57 there on that, but I always, 00:08:23.60\00:08:25.23 my eyes always go to those letters, 00:08:25.27\00:08:27.90 and in the word Sabbath, 00:08:27.94\00:08:29.70 and I think that's really cool, 00:08:29.74\00:08:31.81 how, you know, that it's in there, 00:08:31.84\00:08:34.84 but also the fact that God's always had people 00:08:34.88\00:08:37.11 that have kept the Sabbath, 00:08:37.15\00:08:39.51 and since the beginning, since He created it, 00:08:39.55\00:08:42.58 so that's amazing how He did that. 00:08:42.62\00:08:46.02 Amen. Amen. 00:08:46.05\00:08:47.39 And yes, it does go back to creation 00:08:47.42\00:08:48.82 before they were any division of... 00:08:48.86\00:08:51.56 Oh, he's an Egyptian. 00:08:51.59\00:08:53.26 He's a Jew. 00:08:53.29\00:08:54.63 He is from Mesopotamia. 00:08:54.66\00:08:56.87 He's from Jamaica 00:08:56.90\00:08:59.13 or whatever country you may want to consider. 00:08:59.17\00:09:02.24 God's children, we're all His children, 00:09:02.27\00:09:03.61 and had there not been 00:09:03.64\00:09:05.37 all these division of countries, 00:09:05.41\00:09:08.14 the Sabbath remain the Sabbath for all. 00:09:08.18\00:09:09.84 Yeah, you know, 00:09:09.88\00:09:11.21 and interesting as you talk about 00:09:11.25\00:09:12.58 the idea of the Sabbath and kind of hitting on the idea 00:09:12.61\00:09:15.02 that Jesus is Lord of the Sabbath again, 00:09:15.05\00:09:17.92 in Colossians it says in there. 00:09:17.95\00:09:20.86 We look in Chapter 1, 00:09:20.89\00:09:22.62 and they were talking about Jesus, 00:09:22.66\00:09:23.99 of course, in verse 15, it says, 00:09:24.03\00:09:25.36 "He is the image of the invisible God, 00:09:25.39\00:09:26.76 the firstborn over every creature." 00:09:26.80\00:09:28.13 But in verse 16 it says, "For by Him," being Jesus, 00:09:28.16\00:09:30.00 were all things created..." 00:09:30.03\00:09:31.70 Amen. That's including the Sabbath. 00:09:31.73\00:09:33.30 "That are in heaven, and that are in earth, 00:09:33.34\00:09:35.07 visible and invisible, 00:09:35.10\00:09:36.44 whether they be thrones or dominions 00:09:36.47\00:09:37.81 or principalities or powers. 00:09:37.84\00:09:39.17 All things were created," 00:09:39.21\00:09:40.54 and I'll just put in there, "by Jesus and for Jesus. 00:09:40.58\00:09:42.08 And Jesus is before all things 00:09:42.11\00:09:44.21 and by Jesus, all things consist." 00:09:44.25\00:09:46.11 So, you know, 00:09:46.15\00:09:47.72 do we really wanna be spending quality time, 00:09:47.75\00:09:50.32 we say, "We love Jesus." 00:09:50.35\00:09:51.75 You know, don't we wanna come and spend time with Him 00:09:51.79\00:09:54.66 on that Sabbath day. 00:09:54.69\00:09:56.66 That's where He is. 00:09:56.69\00:09:58.03 He was in the synagogue, we just read in. 00:09:58.06\00:09:59.83 So that's where He's waiting for His people to come. 00:09:59.86\00:10:02.56 And I'm not saying other folks as well, 00:10:02.60\00:10:04.73 but just saying the idea of the Sabbath day 00:10:04.77\00:10:06.43 is so important to Him and that we show 00:10:06.47\00:10:08.74 our relationship to Him in coming there. 00:10:08.77\00:10:11.21 And for me on the Sabbath, I never knew about it. 00:10:11.24\00:10:14.18 Actually, my mom told me when I was young, 00:10:14.21\00:10:16.14 we had a kid across the street, 00:10:16.18\00:10:17.51 who's a Seventh-day Adventist, 00:10:17.55\00:10:18.88 I didn't know what that was, you know, 00:10:18.91\00:10:20.25 but just the fact that 00:10:20.28\00:10:22.48 I'm learning for the Sabbath about for myself, 00:10:22.52\00:10:24.29 it's really a relationship. 00:10:24.32\00:10:26.12 Don't you wanna spend time with somebody who saved you, 00:10:26.15\00:10:28.66 somebody who redeemed you, 00:10:28.69\00:10:30.23 somebody who purchased you with their blood 00:10:30.26\00:10:31.59 that spent everything for you, 00:10:31.63\00:10:33.60 so that you can have that relationship, 00:10:33.63\00:10:35.23 intimate relationship with Him. 00:10:35.26\00:10:37.00 I wanna come and spend that day with Him, 00:10:37.03\00:10:38.37 I wanna delight in that day so, kind of for me, so... 00:10:38.40\00:10:40.94 Amen, amen. 00:10:40.97\00:10:42.30 So again, we say happy and blessed Sabbath to you, 00:10:42.34\00:10:45.27 those that are joining us, we thank you for it. 00:10:45.31\00:10:47.88 And we're going to mainly focus today 00:10:47.91\00:10:50.65 on Psalm 23, 00:10:50.68\00:10:52.81 where it talks about the one, 00:10:52.85\00:10:56.95 "The Lord is my shepherd." 00:10:56.99\00:10:58.45 "The Lord is my shepherd." 00:10:58.49\00:11:00.32 But when we look at Psalm 23 00:11:00.36\00:11:05.29 it's something very, very short. 00:11:05.33\00:11:07.80 It's only six verses, 00:11:07.83\00:11:11.83 but a lot of meat, that's a good answer. 00:11:11.87\00:11:15.94 Why do we go there? 00:11:15.97\00:11:17.64 And maybe we can just go ahead and start. 00:11:17.67\00:11:21.64 I'll start with the first one. 00:11:21.68\00:11:23.01 Then we'll go over to Brother Jonathan. 00:11:23.04\00:11:24.71 And then we'll just keep going until we read all the verses. 00:11:24.75\00:11:29.22 And then we'll go back and talk about it. 00:11:29.25\00:11:30.82 That way we get the full message 00:11:30.85\00:11:33.25 and then we'll go back and talk a little bit 00:11:33.29\00:11:35.12 about each one of the individual parts 00:11:35.16\00:11:37.69 of the song. 00:11:37.73\00:11:39.06 So Psalm 23, Psalm 23:1. 00:11:39.09\00:11:42.63 The Bible says, "The Lord is my shepherd. 00:11:42.66\00:11:45.73 I shall not want. 00:11:45.77\00:11:47.84 He makes me lie down in green pastures. 00:11:47.87\00:11:50.94 He leads me beside the still waters." 00:11:50.97\00:11:54.21 "He restores my soul. 00:11:54.24\00:11:55.91 He leadeth me in the paths of righteousness 00:11:55.94\00:11:58.38 for His name's sake." 00:11:58.41\00:12:00.42 "Yea, though I walk through the valley 00:12:00.45\00:12:02.35 of the shadow of death, 00:12:02.38\00:12:03.72 I will fear no evil, for Thou are with me, 00:12:03.75\00:12:06.89 Thy rod and Thy staff, they comfort me." 00:12:06.92\00:12:10.09 "You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies. 00:12:10.13\00:12:14.60 You anoint my head with oil, my cup runs over." 00:12:14.63\00:12:19.43 "Surely, goodness and mercy shall follow me 00:12:19.47\00:12:22.77 all the days of my life. 00:12:22.80\00:12:24.67 And I will dwell in the house of the Lord forever." 00:12:24.71\00:12:27.81 Amen. Amen. 00:12:27.84\00:12:29.51 Well, thank you very much. 00:12:29.54\00:12:30.88 Let's go back now to verse 1. 00:12:30.91\00:12:32.41 And it says here, "The Lord is my shepherd." 00:12:32.45\00:12:38.49 Any thoughts about that? 00:12:38.52\00:12:39.85 You know, it's interesting. 00:12:39.89\00:12:41.22 We didn't intentionally do this, 00:12:41.26\00:12:42.59 but as we were researching this, 00:12:42.62\00:12:43.96 my wife and I, and she looked up something 00:12:43.99\00:12:45.33 that the exact same thing I did, 00:12:45.36\00:12:46.70 we looked in the Amplified Version. 00:12:46.73\00:12:48.36 And I like the way the Amplified put, it says, 00:12:48.40\00:12:49.93 "The Lord is my shepherd to feed, guide, and shield me." 00:12:49.96\00:12:54.04 I shall not lack so the idea to feed... 00:12:54.07\00:12:55.90 And what is He feeding us with? 00:12:55.94\00:12:58.41 I think about what Jesus said in the temptation there 00:12:58.44\00:13:02.18 what He said to Satan, you know, 00:13:02.21\00:13:03.95 "Man does not live by bread alone, 00:13:03.98\00:13:05.31 but by every word that proceeds out of the mouth of the Lord." 00:13:05.35\00:13:07.55 So that's really, He's feeding us His promises. 00:13:07.58\00:13:12.19 Amen. 00:13:12.22\00:13:13.79 And it also says in there that, 00:13:13.82\00:13:15.82 basically I won't like anything, 00:13:15.86\00:13:17.83 I shall not want. 00:13:17.86\00:13:19.19 "I won't like anything because the Lord is my shepherd." 00:13:19.23\00:13:22.53 Amen. With everything you need. 00:13:22.56\00:13:24.53 Bible uses the parallels of a shepherd all throughout. 00:13:24.57\00:13:31.31 David loved to use it in the Psalms 00:13:31.34\00:13:32.71 and just all over in the Bible 00:13:32.74\00:13:34.88 Lord uses the idea of a shepherd all throughout 00:13:34.91\00:13:39.01 and, you know, you look at a shepherd, 00:13:39.05\00:13:40.98 he takes care of his flock, 00:13:41.02\00:13:42.92 the sheep don't need anything because he provides it all. 00:13:42.95\00:13:47.86 Provides where they eat, sleep, protection. 00:13:47.89\00:13:51.13 And so the Lord is showing that He does the same for us. 00:13:51.16\00:13:56.16 Amen, amen. 00:13:56.20\00:13:57.53 You know, I find that interesting 00:13:57.57\00:13:58.90 because the person here in Psalm 23, 00:13:58.93\00:14:01.20 that is talking is David. 00:14:01.24\00:14:02.87 And he also was a shepherd. That's right. 00:14:02.90\00:14:05.74 And when I think of a shepherd, 00:14:05.77\00:14:08.74 he knows the sheep, the sheep know him. 00:14:08.78\00:14:11.38 And he can, and right in this song he can, 00:14:11.41\00:14:15.42 which is, the psalms are songs. 00:14:15.45\00:14:17.55 He can relate to his experience, 00:14:17.59\00:14:20.86 his relationship with the Lord. 00:14:20.89\00:14:22.89 I had the blessing of going to Jerusalem several years ago. 00:14:22.92\00:14:28.13 And as we were driving down this road, 00:14:28.16\00:14:31.43 we saw a bunch of sheep following a shepherd. 00:14:31.47\00:14:35.57 And somebody says, "Stop the car, stop the car. 00:14:35.60\00:14:38.61 I can't believe they look just like the Bible." 00:14:38.64\00:14:41.28 And there was a shepherd 00:14:41.31\00:14:42.91 and the sheep and they were following. 00:14:42.94\00:14:44.28 He had a staff in his hand. 00:14:44.31\00:14:46.28 And all of them, you know, just following the shepherd. 00:14:46.31\00:14:50.99 And so we got out and we started going, 00:14:51.02\00:14:54.22 and as we were going towards the sheep, 00:14:54.26\00:14:56.73 they were going away from us. 00:14:56.76\00:14:59.06 They were not following us. 00:14:59.09\00:15:01.00 And so it's interesting to see these things 00:15:01.03\00:15:03.90 because Jesus Himself said, 00:15:03.93\00:15:05.30 "My sheep know My voice, and they follow Me." 00:15:05.33\00:15:11.11 So all of these things are very, very interesting. 00:15:11.14\00:15:13.64 And so David says, "The Lord is my shepherd." 00:15:13.68\00:15:15.91 And when you see the word Lord here, 00:15:15.94\00:15:17.51 we're accustomed to saying, "The Lord is my shepherd." 00:15:17.55\00:15:19.38 In Spanish, we say, "Jehovah is my shepherd." 00:15:19.41\00:15:24.02 Because that's really what the word is here. 00:15:24.05\00:15:27.99 In English, 00:15:28.02\00:15:29.36 they did the same thing that the translators, 00:15:29.39\00:15:32.83 some of the versions did, 00:15:32.86\00:15:34.30 which is being careful about pronouncing God's name. 00:15:34.33\00:15:39.60 But when you see the capital L 00:15:39.63\00:15:41.34 capital O, capital R, capital D, 00:15:41.37\00:15:43.81 that's where the name Jehovah was supposed to be. 00:15:43.84\00:15:48.34 So the Lord is my shepherd. 00:15:48.38\00:15:50.31 When we think the Lord, 00:15:50.35\00:15:52.11 how does that help you today 00:15:52.15\00:15:54.68 to think the Lord is my shepherd? 00:15:54.72\00:15:58.02 Yeah, you know, for me, it's... 00:15:58.05\00:16:00.96 Somebody said, 00:16:00.99\00:16:02.32 "Even when you're not thinking about Jesus, Jesus is there." 00:16:02.36\00:16:05.13 It's when you actually hear His voice, 00:16:05.16\00:16:08.06 for the first time you realize that 00:16:08.10\00:16:10.00 you never really were alone. 00:16:10.03\00:16:11.37 He was always there all the time. 00:16:11.40\00:16:12.73 He's never left you, nor forsake you that like 00:16:12.77\00:16:14.14 that shepherd will always be by his flock, you know. 00:16:14.17\00:16:17.11 I can't remember, it's in Desire of Ages, 00:16:17.14\00:16:18.51 but she wrote about how, you know, 00:16:18.54\00:16:20.04 Jesus went and heard the bleating of that one sheep. 00:16:20.08\00:16:22.71 Not bleeding, but bleating. 00:16:22.74\00:16:25.11 So as He heard it, 00:16:25.15\00:16:26.48 and He went and looked for in the darkest 00:16:26.51\00:16:27.92 and the deepest of depths 00:16:27.95\00:16:29.28 and pluck that sheep out of the thickets, 00:16:29.32\00:16:31.55 and didn't, like, 00:16:31.59\00:16:32.92 put a noose around, not a noose, 00:16:32.95\00:16:34.29 but like a something 00:16:34.32\00:16:35.66 that kind of pull him by the neck, 00:16:35.69\00:16:37.03 scolding and yelling, 00:16:37.06\00:16:38.39 but He put it on His shoulders and He carried him back... 00:16:38.43\00:16:40.10 Yes. Into the green pastures. 00:16:40.13\00:16:41.63 I think about that for me, 00:16:41.66\00:16:43.00 you know, like it says, to feed, guide, and shield me. 00:16:43.03\00:16:45.87 You know, and I don't lack anything 00:16:45.90\00:16:47.64 when I'm in His care, so. 00:16:47.67\00:16:50.47 Another thing I was thinking of is, 00:16:50.51\00:16:53.48 when the Lord is our Shepherd, 00:16:53.51\00:16:55.34 we have direction, He gives us direction. 00:16:55.38\00:16:58.65 And you look at so many people in the world 00:16:58.68\00:17:01.05 and you can look in their eyes 00:17:01.08\00:17:02.42 and you can see that there's emptiness 00:17:02.45\00:17:04.39 and there's no direction, direction or purpose. 00:17:04.42\00:17:08.02 And with Jesus as my Lord and my Shepherd, 00:17:08.06\00:17:11.93 I have direction and purpose. 00:17:11.96\00:17:14.03 Amen. 00:17:14.06\00:17:15.40 It's really a powerful thought. 00:17:15.43\00:17:16.77 Yeah, there's a lot of empty folks out there. 00:17:16.80\00:17:18.63 That is true. 00:17:18.67\00:17:20.00 You know, I think this is a good time 00:17:20.04\00:17:22.10 and maybe we can put a finger there in Psalm 23, 00:17:22.14\00:17:25.51 to go to John Chapter 10. 00:17:25.54\00:17:27.88 Because Jesus Himself said some words 00:17:27.91\00:17:31.91 that seem to be related to Psalm 23. 00:17:31.95\00:17:36.42 And so in John Chapter 10, 00:17:36.45\00:17:39.52 beginning in verse 11, perhaps. 00:17:39.55\00:17:45.16 Yes, it says here... 00:17:45.19\00:17:49.90 There are some verses before this 00:17:49.93\00:17:53.60 that is talking about Him being the Shepherd, 00:17:53.64\00:17:56.71 but here in verse 11 it says, "I am the good Shepherd. 00:17:56.74\00:18:00.78 The Good Shepherd gives His life for the sheep. 00:18:00.81\00:18:04.21 But a hireling, he who is not the shepherd, 00:18:04.25\00:18:07.42 one who does not own the sheep, 00:18:07.45\00:18:09.38 sees the wolf coming 00:18:09.42\00:18:10.75 and leaves the sheep and flees. 00:18:10.79\00:18:13.29 And the wolf catches the sheep and scatters them. 00:18:13.32\00:18:16.32 The hireling flees because he is a hireling 00:18:16.36\00:18:19.13 and does not care about the sheep." 00:18:19.16\00:18:21.56 I'll stop right there for now. 00:18:21.60\00:18:23.16 So when David says, "The Lord is my shepherd." 00:18:23.20\00:18:27.30 What does that mean? 00:18:27.34\00:18:28.67 That means to him, the Lord takes care of me. 00:18:28.70\00:18:32.04 I like what you said there. 00:18:32.07\00:18:33.41 That word hireling reminds is a temporary labor. 00:18:33.44\00:18:35.81 A temporary labor. 00:18:35.84\00:18:37.18 Wow, that kind of really draw 00:18:37.21\00:18:38.55 a different dynamic to that picture, you know, 00:18:38.58\00:18:40.78 this is a temporary fill in or something 00:18:40.82\00:18:43.35 that's not permanent, 00:18:43.39\00:18:44.72 whereas the good shepherd 00:18:44.75\00:18:46.25 lays down his life for the sheep. 00:18:46.29\00:18:47.69 I mean, would we do that for somebody? 00:18:47.72\00:18:49.62 Could I lay down my life for somebody, like, 00:18:49.66\00:18:51.86 I saw somebody is gonna get shot by a gun, 00:18:51.89\00:18:53.36 will I jump in the way and take the bullet? 00:18:53.40\00:18:56.26 That's a hard question. 00:18:56.30\00:18:57.63 But Jesus, you know, took all that 00:18:57.67\00:18:59.63 and then more for us. 00:18:59.67\00:19:01.40 And you saw in David's own life. 00:19:01.44\00:19:03.64 Bible has examples 00:19:03.67\00:19:05.01 of when he was taking care of a sheep 00:19:05.04\00:19:06.47 that David did not run away 00:19:06.51\00:19:08.24 from the threats that endangered his sheep. 00:19:08.28\00:19:11.68 Yeah, that's true. 00:19:11.71\00:19:13.28 That's a really good point. Wow. 00:19:13.31\00:19:14.65 You know, it's interesting when we consider this, 00:19:14.68\00:19:17.89 why do the sheep follow the shepherd? 00:19:17.92\00:19:20.16 Why do they hear his voice and follow him? 00:19:20.19\00:19:24.09 From experience, they have learned 00:19:24.13\00:19:26.70 that the shepherd takes care of them. 00:19:26.73\00:19:28.83 From experience, they have learned 00:19:28.86\00:19:30.33 that he will protect them, 00:19:30.37\00:19:32.53 and guide them to safety and provide. 00:19:32.57\00:19:35.74 So when we say, when David is saying, 00:19:35.77\00:19:37.27 "The Lord is my shepherd." 00:19:37.31\00:19:38.64 I would like to invite our listeners 00:19:38.67\00:19:40.48 or viewers to consider our friends 00:19:40.51\00:19:42.74 or family that are within, 00:19:42.78\00:19:44.31 on the other side to consider 00:19:44.35\00:19:46.75 if they haven't to allow the Lord 00:19:46.78\00:19:48.28 to be your shepherd, your protector, 00:19:48.32\00:19:51.12 your guidance, your strength, 00:19:51.15\00:19:54.56 and see the blessing. 00:19:54.59\00:19:56.83 Yeah. 00:19:56.86\00:19:58.19 I think they also what goes along with that 00:19:58.23\00:19:59.63 is first acknowledging that we're helpless... 00:19:59.66\00:20:01.53 Yes. 00:20:01.56\00:20:02.90 That we need Him. 00:20:02.93\00:20:04.83 And our world tells us we need to be independent. 00:20:04.87\00:20:08.04 For me, and excuse me, 00:20:08.07\00:20:09.40 that's been a struggle, honestly, 00:20:09.44\00:20:12.64 because I just kind of grew up forming 00:20:12.67\00:20:16.64 that independence that I thought I needed. 00:20:16.68\00:20:19.08 And so that's been a lot of unlearning 00:20:19.11\00:20:21.65 that God has had to do for me. 00:20:21.68\00:20:23.95 And so learning that I do need Him, 00:20:23.99\00:20:26.52 and I am dependent on Him. 00:20:26.55\00:20:30.49 It's not a fun feeling at first. 00:20:30.53\00:20:33.56 But when I realized that I am helpless without Him, 00:20:33.60\00:20:36.20 and I do need Him, 00:20:36.23\00:20:37.63 and what can go wrong when I don't have Him, 00:20:37.67\00:20:40.77 I think that is what has helped me and... 00:20:40.80\00:20:43.81 But I think that's the first thing 00:20:43.84\00:20:45.77 that we need to realize is that we are helpless without Him. 00:20:45.81\00:20:48.98 And if we're not teachable, 00:20:49.01\00:20:52.15 or in that vulnerable state, 00:20:52.18\00:20:54.95 we won't rely on Him. 00:20:54.98\00:20:56.79 It's very, very powerful. 00:20:56.82\00:20:59.65 When you're talking about a small sheep, 00:20:59.69\00:21:03.39 you know, you see the little kittens, 00:21:03.43\00:21:05.09 and even the little kittens, they can go like this. 00:21:05.13\00:21:08.16 And suddenly they have these sharp claws. 00:21:08.20\00:21:10.73 And their teeth are also sharp, 00:21:10.77\00:21:12.83 so she can't really defend itself. 00:21:12.87\00:21:16.14 It's helpless like you said. 00:21:16.17\00:21:18.77 And this is a wonderful picture of understanding 00:21:18.81\00:21:21.04 that the Lord wants to take care of us, 00:21:21.08\00:21:23.14 the Lord wants to protect us. 00:21:23.18\00:21:24.61 Amen. 00:21:24.65\00:21:25.98 You know, somebody that was speaking to me 00:21:26.01\00:21:27.35 telling about hearing His voice. 00:21:27.38\00:21:28.72 And I thought was really interesting 00:21:28.75\00:21:30.22 when he called Lazarus. 00:21:30.25\00:21:32.35 Actually, it's in Chapter 11, just looked at, 00:21:32.39\00:21:35.16 but the idea that Lazarus understood 00:21:35.19\00:21:37.16 when He called him out of the tomb, 00:21:37.19\00:21:39.39 and just heard His voice and he came out, 00:21:39.43\00:21:42.73 that speaks to me God's power, Jesus' power. 00:21:42.76\00:21:46.50 To not just protect us on this earth now, 00:21:46.53\00:21:49.00 while we're in this life, 00:21:49.04\00:21:50.37 but even afterwards, in the everlasting, you know, 00:21:50.41\00:21:52.41 whole power is given him heaven and earth so... 00:21:52.44\00:21:55.21 When He speaks, even the dead are raised. 00:21:55.24\00:21:58.15 Raised up. They're raised up. 00:21:58.18\00:22:00.25 So, I mean, that's a powerful thing to think 00:22:00.28\00:22:01.92 that He not only protect us while we're live now, 00:22:01.95\00:22:04.29 but when we come to that new life, 00:22:04.32\00:22:06.05 He's going to call us out, and we'll hear that voice 00:22:06.09\00:22:08.19 and we'll come out of our grave. 00:22:08.22\00:22:09.89 Amen. It's a powerful thought. 00:22:09.92\00:22:11.29 Well, how about the next little thought? 00:22:11.33\00:22:13.03 He said, "The Lord is my shepherd, 00:22:13.06\00:22:14.80 I shall not want." 00:22:14.83\00:22:17.70 Any thoughts 00:22:17.73\00:22:19.07 that you would like to share about that? 00:22:19.10\00:22:20.44 I think we've already shared a little bit. 00:22:20.47\00:22:21.80 But when you think about the Lord is my shepherd, 00:22:21.84\00:22:24.07 I shall not want. 00:22:24.11\00:22:25.87 There seems to be no doubt in that declaration. 00:22:25.91\00:22:30.38 Well, the Lord is my shepherd, I might want, you know. 00:22:30.41\00:22:35.12 I was just thinking of Paul, 00:22:35.15\00:22:36.48 you know, when he said that Paul said, 00:22:36.52\00:22:37.85 "I know what it is to have much. 00:22:37.89\00:22:39.35 And I know what it is to have a little. 00:22:39.39\00:22:40.82 So I'm content in every situation." 00:22:40.86\00:22:42.72 And I think that's having that complete confidence and trust 00:22:42.76\00:22:46.43 in what Jesus is capable of doing. 00:22:46.46\00:22:48.10 I mean, if He says He owns a cattle on a thousand hill, 00:22:48.13\00:22:50.30 do you believe Him? 00:22:50.33\00:22:51.67 Do you believe He has all things in His hands? 00:22:51.70\00:22:54.14 Do you think, you know, 00:22:54.17\00:22:55.50 do we trust Him what His promises say? 00:22:55.54\00:22:57.84 I think that's a really powerful thing. 00:22:57.87\00:22:59.21 So I don't lack anything if I trust in His promises. 00:22:59.24\00:23:01.98 They're for me, 00:23:02.01\00:23:03.35 no matter what the circumstance, 00:23:03.38\00:23:04.71 if I'm, you know, on a medical condition, 00:23:04.75\00:23:06.88 do I trust Him at that time? 00:23:06.92\00:23:08.68 If I'm financially broke, 00:23:08.72\00:23:10.05 I'm going through some difficulty with a marriage 00:23:10.09\00:23:12.32 or whatever it may be, 00:23:12.35\00:23:14.09 do I trust the Lord in those circumstances 00:23:14.12\00:23:16.22 to know that He's taking care of all this? 00:23:16.26\00:23:18.69 Amen. Amen. 00:23:18.73\00:23:20.33 Any other thoughts? 00:23:20.36\00:23:21.70 Or maybe an experience where you have seen 00:23:21.73\00:23:23.83 that the Lord has provided, has taken care of your needs? 00:23:23.87\00:23:28.84 And while are you thinking about that, 00:23:28.87\00:23:30.81 I'm going to read from Philippians 4:19, 00:23:30.84\00:23:35.21 because this is a scripture that speaks to us 00:23:35.24\00:23:40.78 of the Lord's care for us. 00:23:40.82\00:23:42.58 tells us the following, 00:23:42.62\00:23:48.12 "And my God shall supply all your need, 00:23:48.16\00:23:52.66 according to His riches in glory by Christ Jesus." 00:23:52.69\00:23:56.53 Amen. 00:23:56.56\00:23:57.90 And this is a reality 00:23:57.93\00:23:59.27 and a personal experience for me and my family. 00:23:59.30\00:24:02.77 We can say the Lord has supplied our needs. 00:24:02.80\00:24:06.07 He's able. That's right. 00:24:06.11\00:24:07.44 And you know, 00:24:07.48\00:24:08.84 the Lord supplies our needs and then, 00:24:08.88\00:24:11.48 He's not wanting either. 00:24:11.51\00:24:12.98 He continues to have to share with all His children. 00:24:13.01\00:24:16.62 We just, we just sold our house. 00:24:16.65\00:24:18.95 And a lot of people have been praying for that. 00:24:18.99\00:24:21.89 It was three years. 00:24:21.92\00:24:23.46 Praise the Lord. 00:24:23.49\00:24:24.83 It was about a three year long process. 00:24:24.86\00:24:28.56 And we really feel like God had a plan in now. 00:24:28.60\00:24:33.10 He always has a plan, but we, you know, 00:24:33.13\00:24:35.70 we wonder why it took so long. 00:24:35.74\00:24:37.24 But there were so many people we met along the way. 00:24:37.27\00:24:39.94 But through that process, 00:24:39.97\00:24:42.31 I was just talking to someone earlier 00:24:42.34\00:24:43.68 about how they asked the question, 00:24:43.71\00:24:46.11 how did you keep up with all, you know, 00:24:46.15\00:24:48.68 because we have a place we rent here, 00:24:48.72\00:24:51.02 and then we're paying double utilities, 00:24:51.05\00:24:53.42 everything and the mortgage on the place that we had, 00:24:53.46\00:24:57.26 and they're like, "How did you do it?" 00:24:57.29\00:24:59.86 All I can say is, it was all God, 00:24:59.89\00:25:02.50 because on paper, it wouldn't make sense. 00:25:02.53\00:25:07.24 Financial person would be like, 00:25:07.27\00:25:08.94 "There's no way that this could have happened, 00:25:08.97\00:25:11.47 that you could've, you know, kept up with all these bills." 00:25:11.51\00:25:14.11 But God provided. 00:25:14.14\00:25:15.88 Yeah, you know, 00:25:15.91\00:25:17.25 He sometimes when we first moved here, 00:25:17.28\00:25:18.91 how He provided was just incredible. 00:25:18.95\00:25:20.62 Just to let you know, He encourages us, 00:25:20.65\00:25:22.48 you know, when we first moved in. 00:25:22.52\00:25:24.75 We had a gentleman who became our insurance agent. 00:25:24.79\00:25:28.72 He talked to us, 00:25:28.76\00:25:30.09 "You guys are wonderful Christian couple. 00:25:30.13\00:25:31.46 I really appreciate you guys. 00:25:31.49\00:25:32.83 Donald, can you..." 00:25:32.86\00:25:34.20 And he's in his car, he said, 00:25:34.23\00:25:35.56 "Donald, come here for a minute?" 00:25:35.60\00:25:36.93 I said, "Yeah." 00:25:36.97\00:25:38.30 He said, "You know, as I'm getting older in life, 00:25:38.33\00:25:39.67 and you know, 00:25:39.70\00:25:41.04 I got a little bit of mine place." 00:25:41.07\00:25:42.40 And I'm like, I think, I know where this is going. 00:25:42.44\00:25:43.77 He said, "How would you feel 00:25:43.81\00:25:45.14 if I paid for your first year's renter's insurance?" 00:25:45.17\00:25:47.11 I was like, 00:25:47.14\00:25:48.48 "My insurance agent is gonna pay 00:25:48.51\00:25:49.84 for my first year insurance policy!" 00:25:49.88\00:25:51.88 He said, "What do you think your wife will say?" 00:25:51.91\00:25:53.31 I'm like, "Oh, yeah, she's gonna say yes." 00:25:53.35\00:25:56.89 I said, "Yeah." 00:25:56.92\00:25:58.25 So he literally did, he paid for that. 00:25:58.29\00:26:00.26 And just see how God's hand had moved in all that, 00:26:00.29\00:26:03.26 and just even get here to Illinois, 00:26:03.29\00:26:05.79 just how God provide. 00:26:05.83\00:26:07.16 I mean, we were sleeping in our car. 00:26:07.20\00:26:08.53 I had no money, 00:26:08.56\00:26:09.90 I had $10 to get back and forth 00:26:09.93\00:26:11.27 from here to Indiana, where our house was 00:26:11.30\00:26:12.63 for interview. 00:26:12.67\00:26:14.00 That was it, I had 10 bucks. 00:26:14.04\00:26:15.60 And I talked to a gentleman, 00:26:15.64\00:26:16.97 and we were camping on at Rend Lake not far from here. 00:26:17.01\00:26:19.24 We slept in our car, 00:26:19.27\00:26:20.68 laying the chairs back and slept, 00:26:20.71\00:26:22.54 and I talked to a gentleman and I felt encouraged 00:26:22.58\00:26:25.05 to give this man a Great Controversy. 00:26:25.08\00:26:26.72 He kind of struggled at first, but I told him, 00:26:26.75\00:26:29.12 "I'll give you the book." 00:26:29.15\00:26:30.49 And when I gave him the book, he said, 00:26:30.52\00:26:32.59 "I'm a recovering Catholic and recovering alcoholic." 00:26:32.62\00:26:35.59 I said, "That's interesting." 00:26:35.62\00:26:37.13 So he started thumbing through the book 00:26:37.16\00:26:38.49 and he saw Martin Luther in the book. 00:26:38.53\00:26:39.86 He was, "Oh my goodness, I love Martin Luther!" 00:26:39.89\00:26:41.90 He said, "You just might convert me. 00:26:41.93\00:26:43.26 I'm like, "What on earth?" 00:26:43.30\00:26:44.63 So this is interesting. 00:26:44.67\00:26:46.00 So I went back to my car 00:26:46.03\00:26:47.37 and the Lord impressed me in my mind, He says, 00:26:47.40\00:26:49.44 "He's gonna come back and give you something." 00:26:49.47\00:26:51.67 And so I said, "Really?" 00:26:51.71\00:26:53.04 I said, "Janelle, 00:26:53.07\00:26:54.41 I think the Lord's told me this guy's gonna come back 00:26:54.44\00:26:55.78 and give us something." 00:26:55.81\00:26:57.15 So sure enough, he came, 00:26:57.18\00:26:58.51 walked in my car, tapped on a window. 00:26:58.55\00:26:59.88 I rolled it down, 00:26:59.91\00:27:01.25 opened his wallet gave me a $50 bill. 00:27:01.28\00:27:02.62 He said, "Go and get you and your wife 00:27:02.65\00:27:03.99 something good for breakfast." 00:27:04.02\00:27:05.35 Well, he asked us too. 00:27:05.39\00:27:06.72 He said, "Well, you guys are the one who sleep in your car?" 00:27:06.76\00:27:08.09 He said, "I counted tents last night. 00:27:08.12\00:27:09.46 You guys didn't have a tent." 00:27:09.49\00:27:10.83 He said, "Well, you guys the one sleeping in your car, 00:27:10.86\00:27:12.23 like he's very observant. 00:27:12.26\00:27:14.23 He actually gave us a tent too. 00:27:14.26\00:27:16.67 How long ago was this? 00:27:16.70\00:27:18.90 It was almost six years ago? 2013, yeah. 00:27:18.93\00:27:22.27 This is before you came to 3ABN? 00:27:22.30\00:27:23.81 Well, it was kind of like in real transition. 00:27:23.84\00:27:27.18 Yeah, we were coming here for the interview, 00:27:27.21\00:27:28.64 or we had been here for the interview or something. 00:27:28.68\00:27:30.68 And we didn't want to drive all the way back home yet, so. 00:27:30.71\00:27:32.78 That's how God provides though. 00:27:32.81\00:27:34.22 Yes. 00:27:34.25\00:27:35.58 Jesus provides everything you need. 00:27:35.62\00:27:36.95 You don't lack anything. 00:27:36.99\00:27:38.32 I mean, here I got $50, I wanna get back home. 00:27:38.35\00:27:39.92 That's like, man, I got 10 bucks to get gas. 00:27:39.95\00:27:41.46 Oh my goodness, this is not gonna work too well, but 00:27:41.49\00:27:43.93 and that's the most I ever got for Great Controversy. 00:27:43.96\00:27:46.03 I was a literature evangelist. 00:27:46.06\00:27:47.40 That's the most I've ever got for Controversy is 50 bucks, 00:27:47.43\00:27:50.60 so... Amazing. Praise the Lord. 00:27:50.63\00:27:52.03 God is good. Yeah. 00:27:52.07\00:27:53.87 And more and more stories we could share 00:27:53.90\00:27:58.04 about how the Lord has provided for us. 00:27:58.07\00:28:00.91 Just given time, we can say, 00:28:00.94\00:28:02.28 "Oh yes, and this time, in this time, 00:28:02.31\00:28:03.65 in this time, in this time." 00:28:03.68\00:28:05.01 Because the Lord does do this, 00:28:05.05\00:28:07.68 you know, that we think of the Lord's Prayer says it. 00:28:07.72\00:28:10.25 "Give us this day, our daily bread." 00:28:10.29\00:28:12.59 So really, anyone listening right now could say, 00:28:12.62\00:28:15.32 "Well, you know." 00:28:15.36\00:28:17.13 I would dare say that some people listening to me, 00:28:17.16\00:28:20.96 could say, "I have never missed a meal, 00:28:21.00\00:28:22.63 there has always been the opportunity to eat meal, 00:28:22.66\00:28:24.93 I didn't eat because I didn't want to." 00:28:24.97\00:28:26.30 Yeah. 00:28:26.33\00:28:27.67 But they've had the opportunity 00:28:27.70\00:28:29.04 to always have something to eat. 00:28:29.07\00:28:30.47 And that's the Lord providing. 00:28:30.51\00:28:31.91 The Lord providing. 00:28:31.94\00:28:33.31 Of course, sometimes we do ourselves self-damage, 00:28:33.34\00:28:35.04 you know, we make decisions that hurt us, 00:28:35.08\00:28:38.15 so the Lord had to say, 00:28:38.18\00:28:39.51 "Okay, I'm gonna let you reap what you have sown, 00:28:39.55\00:28:43.52 what you have planted." 00:28:43.55\00:28:45.15 And so as we cooperate with the Lord, 00:28:45.19\00:28:48.79 and ask Him for our needs, He does do that. 00:28:48.82\00:28:51.09 That gives me the thought 00:28:51.13\00:28:52.53 that maybe we should read from Psalms 34, 00:28:52.56\00:28:54.56 because here is a clear, clear message for us. 00:28:54.60\00:29:01.37 And I see this as a wonderful, wonderful thing. 00:29:01.40\00:29:06.01 In Psalms 34. 00:29:06.04\00:29:07.84 Notice Psalms 34 I really, 00:29:07.88\00:29:10.45 when I look at Psalms 34, I say, 00:29:10.48\00:29:11.81 "Where do you start? Do you start at number one? 00:29:11.85\00:29:13.85 Oh, man, what if you start at number six, 00:29:13.88\00:29:15.75 and then you want to read number five, verse 5?" 00:29:15.78\00:29:18.32 But I'll start over here in verse 7, 00:29:18.35\00:29:20.36 "The angel of the Lord encamps 00:29:20.39\00:29:23.09 all around those fear Him and delivers them. 00:29:23.12\00:29:26.16 Oh, taste and see that the Lord is good. 00:29:26.19\00:29:28.73 Blessed is the man who trusts in Him! 00:29:28.76\00:29:31.43 Oh, fear the Lord you His saints! 00:29:31.47\00:29:33.90 There is no want to those who fear Him." 00:29:33.94\00:29:38.27 So here it's connected a little bit to Psalms 23. 00:29:38.31\00:29:41.28 The Lord is my shepherd, I shall not want. 00:29:41.31\00:29:44.35 And so the Lord provides for His children. 00:29:44.38\00:29:47.02 Amen. 00:29:47.05\00:29:48.38 And so I would like to encourage everybody 00:29:48.42\00:29:50.79 to trust in the Lord. 00:29:50.82\00:29:52.15 Amen. 00:29:52.19\00:29:53.52 And you will see that He will provide. 00:29:53.56\00:29:55.16 Even He says, "If you have faith 00:29:55.19\00:29:56.52 the size of a mustard seed that you can move mountains." 00:29:56.56\00:29:58.83 Not that you will move mountains, 00:29:58.86\00:30:00.20 physically you're not gonna move anything, 00:30:00.23\00:30:01.56 but He'll move obstacles and bless you. 00:30:01.60\00:30:04.07 Amen. And it's just incredible. 00:30:04.10\00:30:05.97 And we've just been so blessed since we've been here. 00:30:06.00\00:30:08.67 I mean, the Lord has grown us exponentially. 00:30:08.70\00:30:11.31 I mean, if we stayed back in Indiana, 00:30:11.34\00:30:12.67 we realized we talked about this, 00:30:12.71\00:30:14.28 we wouldn't be where we are today 00:30:14.31\00:30:15.64 as far as what we've been able to do 00:30:15.68\00:30:18.08 as far as ministry wise and the knowledge. 00:30:18.11\00:30:20.28 Personal growth. Yeah. Personal growth. 00:30:20.32\00:30:22.08 And healing. Amen. 00:30:22.12\00:30:23.45 And healing. That's a huge healing. 00:30:23.49\00:30:24.82 It's the big one. Amen. 00:30:24.85\00:30:26.69 How about we go to the next part in Psalm 23. 00:30:26.72\00:30:29.66 And consider there verse 2, 00:30:29.69\00:30:32.63 "The Lord is my shepherd, I shall not want. 00:30:32.66\00:30:34.60 He makes me to lie down in green pastures." 00:30:34.63\00:30:39.33 Any thoughts about that? 00:30:39.37\00:30:40.80 Sounds pleasant. 00:30:40.84\00:30:42.64 I wanna be there. Green pastures. 00:30:42.67\00:30:44.97 Where's that green pastures mean? 00:30:45.01\00:30:46.44 You know this. 00:30:46.47\00:30:47.81 I have a little note here, it says, 00:30:47.84\00:30:49.18 pastures of tender grass, 00:30:49.21\00:30:52.01 because I don't know if you've ever, 00:30:52.05\00:30:55.05 I'm sure, you have throughout your life 00:30:55.08\00:30:56.58 at one point or another 00:30:56.62\00:30:57.95 been out in a picnic or something, 00:30:57.99\00:30:59.49 you lie down on some grass 00:30:59.52\00:31:01.02 and there's something poking you. 00:31:01.06\00:31:02.66 Yeah, bugs in your face. 00:31:02.69\00:31:04.66 And then you have to figure out what that is, 00:31:04.69\00:31:06.43 is it a little piece of a stick or a little stone. 00:31:06.46\00:31:09.66 And it's disturbing, isn't it? 00:31:09.70\00:31:11.23 Yeah, but here David is saying, 00:31:11.27\00:31:13.10 the Lord makes me lie down in green pastures, 00:31:13.13\00:31:14.77 tender grass that is soft and cushiony. 00:31:14.80\00:31:18.34 And you're not hurt, you feel comfortable there. 00:31:18.37\00:31:21.34 You feel like, you feel like you're cared for there. 00:31:21.38\00:31:24.88 So when He says, 00:31:24.91\00:31:26.25 He makes me to lie down in green pastures, 00:31:26.28\00:31:27.82 He means, He provides 00:31:27.85\00:31:29.18 that which I need for my comfort. 00:31:29.22\00:31:31.25 So I need a bed like that. 00:31:31.29\00:31:35.42 Yeah, bed like that sounds good. 00:31:35.46\00:31:36.96 I'm ready to take a nap. 00:31:36.99\00:31:38.33 But yeah, so that comfort that he brings, 00:31:38.36\00:31:40.56 you know, he gives you that calm assurance 00:31:40.60\00:31:43.53 that you don't have to struggle or be anxious for anything, 00:31:43.57\00:31:48.74 He provides and as I say, 00:31:48.77\00:31:50.71 I shall not want, you know, 00:31:50.74\00:31:52.07 that kind of leads right into it, 00:31:52.11\00:31:53.44 you know, he gives us those things that we need, 00:31:53.48\00:31:55.64 so we have that comfort 00:31:55.68\00:31:57.01 and that kind of padding, that cushion. 00:31:57.05\00:31:59.08 He gives us a cushion to walk on, 00:31:59.11\00:32:00.72 so we've got cushion. 00:32:00.75\00:32:02.32 That's right. 00:32:02.35\00:32:03.72 So we will for the sake of time move on, it says, 00:32:03.75\00:32:09.52 "He leads me beside the still waters." 00:32:09.56\00:32:14.56 Still waters. 00:32:14.60\00:32:16.30 And as I was studying this many years ago, 00:32:16.33\00:32:19.60 I said, "Why does He say, 00:32:19.63\00:32:21.04 He leads me beside the still waters?" 00:32:21.07\00:32:24.54 And it's interesting because the sheep, 00:32:24.57\00:32:29.01 if you take them to a river that is flowing, 00:32:29.04\00:32:32.81 they're afraid to drink that. 00:32:32.85\00:32:35.48 They will not do it. 00:32:35.52\00:32:36.85 So when he says, 00:32:36.89\00:32:38.22 he leads me beside the still waters, 00:32:38.25\00:32:40.46 the sheep see the nice calm water 00:32:40.49\00:32:44.99 and they feel safe drinking from there. 00:32:45.03\00:32:48.96 Yeah. Interesting. 00:32:49.00\00:32:50.33 You know, I think of that story in, 00:32:50.37\00:32:52.13 when the disciples were on the boat with Jesus 00:32:52.17\00:32:55.57 and they're professional fishermen, 00:32:55.60\00:32:58.11 you know, they've been on some seas before, 00:32:58.14\00:32:59.67 but anyways and all that. 00:32:59.71\00:33:01.04 Boat started happening with the winds 00:33:01.08\00:33:02.41 and the waves and the lightning crashing 00:33:02.44\00:33:04.38 and their boats done off, it's capsizing, 00:33:04.41\00:33:06.72 but it was getting hit some water in it. 00:33:06.75\00:33:08.68 And there's Jesus just lying in the hole of the boat there 00:33:08.72\00:33:11.15 and I'm sure the disciples like, 00:33:11.19\00:33:12.52 "What is wrong with this man?" 00:33:12.55\00:33:13.89 I mean, "How can He sleep in something so tumultuous?" 00:33:13.92\00:33:15.92 But He was always at peace. 00:33:15.96\00:33:17.93 And I just think about that 00:33:17.96\00:33:19.29 and I share sometimes on prayer line, you know, 00:33:19.33\00:33:20.96 when people are really like anxious 00:33:21.00\00:33:22.36 and fretting and stuff, I said, 00:33:22.40\00:33:23.93 "You know, Jesus said three simple words. 00:33:23.97\00:33:25.67 He stood up and he rebuked to us, 00:33:25.70\00:33:27.04 says, peace, peace still. 00:33:27.07\00:33:29.10 He just calmed the waters, calmed them. 00:33:29.14\00:33:33.98 You know, that makes me think about this. 00:33:34.01\00:33:35.34 He leads me beside the still waters 00:33:35.38\00:33:36.71 and just like He brings that calm at peace. 00:33:36.75\00:33:39.81 You don't like, 00:33:39.85\00:33:41.18 if you're in a stressful situation, 00:33:41.22\00:33:42.55 He can break that stress, He can break that anxiousness. 00:33:42.58\00:33:46.19 You know, I went through some places, 00:33:46.22\00:33:47.86 when we did a GLOW rally in Chicago. 00:33:47.89\00:33:50.59 We're out there for four days 00:33:50.63\00:33:51.96 is one of the deadliest weekends 00:33:51.99\00:33:53.33 and I went to a bar. 00:33:53.36\00:33:54.70 And I mean, in restaurants, whatever I'm going, 00:33:54.73\00:33:57.07 people are putting food in their mouth, 00:33:57.10\00:33:58.80 I'm putting GLOW tracts right in front of their table, 00:33:58.83\00:34:00.27 like, "What are you doing?" 00:34:00.30\00:34:02.80 So inside a bar, it was really dark. 00:34:02.84\00:34:04.77 And there's four people and there's two guys drinking, 00:34:04.81\00:34:06.51 and female bartender and a male bartender. 00:34:06.54\00:34:08.94 He was like, "Hey, here's a gift for you," 00:34:08.98\00:34:10.31 and put a little tract on the table. 00:34:10.35\00:34:12.31 And the guy looked at me, he goes, 00:34:12.35\00:34:13.72 "Where's your garbage can?" 00:34:13.75\00:34:15.65 You know, the bartender she just, 00:34:15.68\00:34:17.02 he just grabbed and he just chucked it, 00:34:17.05\00:34:18.39 she chucked it. 00:34:18.42\00:34:19.75 And as I'm walking out the door, she went, 00:34:19.79\00:34:21.12 "Hail Satan!" I was like, "Oh, have a good day. 00:34:21.16\00:34:24.36 Take care. Have a nice day." 00:34:24.39\00:34:25.89 That's what I've told her. 00:34:25.93\00:34:27.66 But it was just having that calm assurance 00:34:27.70\00:34:29.36 what Jesus had sent me there to do. 00:34:29.40\00:34:31.73 I could have that calmness, 00:34:31.77\00:34:33.10 that assurance that He was there with me, you know. 00:34:33.13\00:34:35.40 No, I had some lady, 00:34:35.44\00:34:36.77 you know, pumping her fist and saying, 00:34:36.81\00:34:38.14 "Hail Satan." I want to tell her. 00:34:38.17\00:34:39.97 She does not know what she was saying. 00:34:40.01\00:34:42.38 But when you mentioned GLOW tracts, 00:34:42.41\00:34:43.75 and perhaps somebody doesn't know what that is. 00:34:43.78\00:34:45.78 What's a GLOW tract? Does it glow in the dark? 00:34:45.81\00:34:47.78 Yeah. No, it doesn't. 00:34:47.82\00:34:49.48 No, it's like a little pamphlet. 00:34:49.52\00:34:50.85 Actually, I have in my pocket, I'll get up... 00:34:50.89\00:34:52.22 It's a certain kind of. 00:34:52.25\00:34:53.59 Yeah, little, they're like a little pamphlet, 00:34:53.62\00:34:54.96 like a trifle little thing 00:34:54.99\00:34:56.32 and it has like different topics 00:34:56.36\00:34:57.79 and you can give them out, they're easy give out, 00:34:57.83\00:35:00.36 we give them everywhere. 00:35:00.40\00:35:01.96 I think we gave about 200,000 in four days. 00:35:02.00\00:35:04.93 Wow, just you two? No, there was... 00:35:04.97\00:35:06.97 No, there was a team of about 30 00:35:07.00\00:35:08.34 and some five year old kids, 00:35:08.37\00:35:10.47 out in the streets of Chicago, little kids. 00:35:10.51\00:35:12.87 Now why would you do this? Why would we do this? 00:35:12.91\00:35:15.38 Why would you go out passing those tracts? 00:35:15.41\00:35:17.88 We want people to know about Jesus. 00:35:17.91\00:35:19.95 There you go, 00:35:19.98\00:35:21.32 that's what I was striving at, you know, 00:35:21.35\00:35:22.68 because when you have the blessing of the Lord 00:35:22.72\00:35:26.02 and the joy of the Lord, 00:35:26.05\00:35:27.39 and you know that 00:35:27.42\00:35:29.29 if other people taste and see that the Lord is good, 00:35:29.32\00:35:33.43 you want them to know, 00:35:33.46\00:35:34.80 you want them to have the blessing, 00:35:34.83\00:35:36.56 the experience and to know there is a Savior 00:35:36.60\00:35:40.30 because really, there're people that don't know Jesus. 00:35:40.34\00:35:44.24 They are miserable and they don't know it. 00:35:44.27\00:35:47.28 They suffer and they don't have peace, 00:35:47.31\00:35:49.51 they have an emptiness, and this is the way 00:35:49.54\00:35:52.68 we have heard over and over again, 00:35:52.71\00:35:54.48 the people that come to Lord say, 00:35:54.52\00:35:55.85 "Oh, before I came to the Lord, 00:35:55.88\00:35:57.35 it was this emptiness, I didn't know how to fill it, 00:35:57.39\00:35:59.82 I tried drinking, I tried drugs, 00:35:59.85\00:36:01.32 I tried, you know, 00:36:01.36\00:36:02.82 doing all kinds of evil things but I could not fill this void. 00:36:02.86\00:36:07.26 And so you're helping to fill this void 00:36:07.30\00:36:09.33 passing out the tracts 00:36:09.36\00:36:10.87 and letting people know about Jesus. 00:36:10.90\00:36:12.40 Yeah, you know, it was really interesting. 00:36:12.43\00:36:13.77 And God does have a sense of humor. 00:36:13.80\00:36:15.14 And there's a carnival going on across 00:36:15.17\00:36:16.67 one side of the street and I'm on the other 00:36:16.71\00:36:18.04 putting GLOW pamphlets of salvation at their door. 00:36:18.07\00:36:21.24 I'm not going to name the name of the song, 00:36:21.28\00:36:22.71 but it was a hard rock song, 00:36:22.74\00:36:24.71 talking about you're on the way to hell. 00:36:24.75\00:36:26.88 So while I'm giving out tracts there, 00:36:26.92\00:36:28.35 bringing people to Jesus to salvation. 00:36:28.38\00:36:31.02 I'm hearing the songs and you're on the road to hell. 00:36:31.05\00:36:34.89 It's like this conflict. 00:36:34.92\00:36:36.32 I was like, this is comical, I started laughing. 00:36:36.36\00:36:38.33 I said, this is funny 'cause I'm giving people, 00:36:38.36\00:36:40.46 you know, GLOW tracts that's gonna bring them... 00:36:40.50\00:36:41.96 Salvation. 00:36:42.00\00:36:43.33 Narrow pathway that's going to lead them 00:36:43.37\00:36:44.70 to eternal life, 00:36:44.73\00:36:46.10 not to the road of hell sitting on that path so... 00:36:46.13\00:36:49.20 I found a cross reference first 00:36:49.24\00:36:50.97 that goes with that verse we just read from Psalm 23:2, 00:36:51.01\00:36:56.04 it's in Revelation 7, it's Revelation 7:17. 00:36:56.08\00:37:00.95 I thought that was really good. 00:37:00.98\00:37:02.32 It says, "For the lamb which is in the midst of the throne 00:37:02.35\00:37:04.42 shall feed them and shall lead them 00:37:04.45\00:37:06.65 unto living fountains of waters, 00:37:06.69\00:37:09.09 and God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes." 00:37:09.12\00:37:13.26 And it's talking about feeding them 00:37:13.29\00:37:17.80 and leading them unto the fountains of waters. 00:37:17.83\00:37:20.17 That was the one to let them know. 00:37:20.20\00:37:21.84 The Lamb, Jesus and it's interesting 00:37:21.87\00:37:25.21 how he's the Lamb and the Shepherd. 00:37:25.24\00:37:28.14 Yeah, yes. 00:37:28.18\00:37:29.51 That's interesting. 00:37:29.54\00:37:31.15 Why would, for the sake of our people 00:37:31.18\00:37:32.88 watching our friends, why would you... 00:37:32.91\00:37:36.25 Why is Jesus the lamb as well? 00:37:36.28\00:37:39.92 I was thinking about that. 00:37:39.95\00:37:43.76 I think because He was the sacrifice 00:37:43.79\00:37:46.29 and sacrificed for our sins. 00:37:46.33\00:37:48.86 That's right. 00:37:48.90\00:37:50.23 You know, John the Baptist said, 00:37:50.27\00:37:51.60 "Behold the Lamb of God 00:37:51.63\00:37:53.20 that takes away the sin of the world." 00:37:53.23\00:37:55.54 That was a message for the people 00:37:55.57\00:37:56.97 because they knew that a lamb was offered 00:37:57.01\00:38:01.51 for the forgiveness of their sins, 00:38:01.54\00:38:03.61 and Jesus interesting the Lamb and also the Shepherd, he who, 00:38:03.65\00:38:09.42 who can take away our sins, 00:38:09.45\00:38:11.42 but He's also the Shepherd in the sense that He guides us, 00:38:11.45\00:38:14.39 He protects us, and He wants to save us. 00:38:14.42\00:38:19.46 He's also in the sense of the lamb. 00:38:19.49\00:38:21.96 He's a fellow lamb because He was one of us. 00:38:22.00\00:38:25.13 Yes. Beautiful. 00:38:25.17\00:38:27.07 You know, and in Genesis 3:21 and this is interesting, 00:38:27.10\00:38:30.34 because when we see who took and formed Adam 00:38:30.37\00:38:32.54 from the dust of the ground. 00:38:32.57\00:38:34.01 Really when you do the research and you studied out 00:38:34.04\00:38:35.71 was actually Jesus who formed. 00:38:35.74\00:38:37.58 So then it says, You're the Lord God, 00:38:37.61\00:38:39.08 which actually is Jesus says, unto Adam also 00:38:39.11\00:38:42.02 and to his wife did the Lord God, 00:38:42.05\00:38:44.49 basically Jesus made coats of skins and clothed them, 00:38:44.52\00:38:46.86 so He took an actual lamb. 00:38:46.89\00:38:48.72 That was the first sacrifice in Genesis 3:21, 00:38:48.76\00:38:52.23 where He showed them a lamb 00:38:52.26\00:38:54.56 would have to be slain for their sins. 00:38:54.60\00:38:56.36 Yes. 00:38:56.40\00:38:57.73 And Jesus Himself, showing them, 00:38:57.77\00:38:59.53 you know, skin that lamb, 00:38:59.57\00:39:01.50 so that's a powerful thought... 00:39:01.54\00:39:03.67 Amen. What He would come to do. 00:39:03.71\00:39:05.81 I'm gonna go back over here to John Chapter 10 00:39:05.84\00:39:11.11 and I'm gonna read now from verses 14 through 16 00:39:11.15\00:39:15.18 because of the discussion 00:39:15.22\00:39:16.55 that we're having now at this point. 00:39:16.58\00:39:19.02 It says in John 10:14,15, and 16, 00:39:19.05\00:39:22.39 "I am the good Shepherd and I know My sheep, 00:39:22.42\00:39:26.39 and I am known by My own. 00:39:26.43\00:39:29.13 As the Father knows Me, even so I know the Father 00:39:29.16\00:39:32.33 and I lay down my life for the sheep." 00:39:32.37\00:39:36.54 This is talking about the sacrifice of Christ for us. 00:39:36.57\00:39:39.41 That's right. Jesus Christ for us. 00:39:39.44\00:39:40.94 And then He says, 00:39:40.98\00:39:42.31 "And other sheep I have, which are not of this fold. 00:39:42.34\00:39:45.55 Them also I must bring, and they will hear My voice 00:39:45.58\00:39:49.82 and there will be one flock and one shepherd." 00:39:49.85\00:39:52.75 Amen. Isn't that beautiful promise? 00:39:52.79\00:39:54.86 All the divisions will be gone. 00:39:54.89\00:39:57.03 Jesus will be, we will be all one flock, 00:39:57.06\00:39:59.59 all one large family of every nation, 00:39:59.63\00:40:03.40 kindred, tongue and people. 00:40:03.43\00:40:05.63 One flock, one family in Him, He being our Shepherd. 00:40:05.67\00:40:11.37 Yeah, you know, that's such a beautiful thought 00:40:11.41\00:40:13.14 and I just talked to somebody just a couple of days ago 00:40:13.17\00:40:15.38 about the idea of culture and color and you know, 00:40:15.41\00:40:19.38 we have different backgrounds, different languages 00:40:19.41\00:40:21.45 but there'll be all different ethnicities, 00:40:21.48\00:40:23.79 different colors, different, 00:40:23.82\00:40:25.52 it will all be but we'll all be one in Christ, 00:40:25.55\00:40:27.66 that's just the most powerful thought to me 00:40:27.69\00:40:29.29 that you know, no matter where you are, 00:40:29.32\00:40:30.69 I mean, you're across in Africa, 00:40:30.73\00:40:32.06 maybe you're somewhere down in, you know, South America, 00:40:32.09\00:40:34.46 maybe in Russia, maybe you're, but we're all going to be... 00:40:34.50\00:40:37.80 If we're in Christ, we'll all be brought together 00:40:37.83\00:40:39.77 and we'll all be able to sit down 00:40:39.80\00:40:42.17 at that supper table one day, 00:40:42.20\00:40:44.51 all the other and share a meal with Jesus, 00:40:44.54\00:40:47.34 that's gonna be incredible day so... 00:40:47.38\00:40:49.08 Amen. It's a powerful thought. 00:40:49.11\00:40:51.15 Well, let's see if we can go back to Psalm 23 00:40:51.18\00:40:53.55 and pick it up where we were, 00:40:53.58\00:40:55.05 such wonderful things are there. 00:40:55.08\00:40:56.85 Amen. 00:40:56.89\00:40:58.22 And so can you read the next one, verse 3? 00:40:58.25\00:41:01.36 Yeah, I'll actually read from the Amplified. 00:41:01.39\00:41:02.89 I really like this, 00:41:02.92\00:41:04.33 "He refreshes and restores my life myself. 00:41:04.36\00:41:07.93 He leads me in the paths of righteousness, 00:41:07.96\00:41:10.07 uprightness and right standing with him not for my earning it, 00:41:10.10\00:41:13.30 but for his namesake." 00:41:13.34\00:41:15.47 Amen. Wow. 00:41:15.50\00:41:16.84 I liked how he put that. 00:41:16.87\00:41:18.21 Any thoughts about that, Brother? 00:41:18.24\00:41:19.57 Our Brother Jonathan, 00:41:19.61\00:41:20.94 we haven't heard from you in a little while. 00:41:20.98\00:41:22.58 He restores my soul. 00:41:22.61\00:41:24.51 He leads me in the paths of righteousness 00:41:24.55\00:41:26.41 for his name's sake." 00:41:26.45\00:41:29.25 I find it interesting that, 00:41:29.28\00:41:34.39 you know, he does this, he's doing it for us. 00:41:34.42\00:41:38.69 But he's doing it for, you know, for his name's sake. 00:41:38.73\00:41:42.46 We are a reflection of God and Jesus' characters. 00:41:42.50\00:41:48.64 You know, it's us and our lives that ultimately 00:41:48.67\00:41:51.97 that vindicate God's character. 00:41:52.01\00:41:54.48 Oh, yes. Very nice. 00:41:54.51\00:41:56.41 And so, you know, 00:41:56.44\00:41:58.48 but we can't do it on ourselves. 00:41:58.51\00:42:00.32 We still have to have His help to do it. 00:42:00.35\00:42:03.45 So He restores our soul 00:42:03.49\00:42:06.05 and leads us on the path of righteousness, 00:42:06.09\00:42:08.86 to allow us to reflect His character 00:42:08.89\00:42:13.86 and ultimately become in the God's image. 00:42:13.90\00:42:19.73 Amen. Amen. 00:42:19.77\00:42:21.10 You know, it's marvelous, 00:42:21.14\00:42:22.47 because when we talk about 00:42:22.50\00:42:25.41 green pastures, still waters, 00:42:25.44\00:42:29.61 if we allow the Lord to lead us, 00:42:29.64\00:42:32.31 He's going to lead us down a safe path and any situation, 00:42:32.35\00:42:37.95 anything that comes, God has taken into account. 00:42:37.99\00:42:41.39 You mentioned earlier, 00:42:41.42\00:42:42.79 that Jesus was with the disciples on the boat, 00:42:42.82\00:42:45.69 and it seemed like the devil was trying to drown them all. 00:42:45.73\00:42:50.20 And this storm came, 00:42:50.23\00:42:52.57 and Jesus was in perfect serenity 00:42:52.60\00:42:55.30 and calmness, sleeping through this whole storm, 00:42:55.34\00:42:58.21 which is very, very interesting. 00:42:58.24\00:43:01.21 But they were safe there with Jesus even though 00:43:01.24\00:43:07.88 to them at the moment it appeared we're going to die, 00:43:07.92\00:43:10.89 we are going to die right here. 00:43:10.92\00:43:12.95 And they were just frightened to death. 00:43:12.99\00:43:15.22 They literally thought they were going to die. 00:43:15.26\00:43:17.13 Yeah, you know, 00:43:17.16\00:43:18.49 and then something that really thought, 00:43:18.53\00:43:19.86 made me think of, 00:43:19.89\00:43:21.23 He refreshes and restoring my life 00:43:21.26\00:43:22.60 and something you kind of touched 00:43:22.63\00:43:23.97 on this a little bit is the fact 00:43:24.00\00:43:25.33 we're talking about the Shepherd. 00:43:25.37\00:43:26.70 Well, He knows now that He can trust us 00:43:26.74\00:43:29.90 to lead others to the Shepherd 00:43:29.94\00:43:32.34 just like what Andrew Simon, Peter's brother did. 00:43:32.37\00:43:34.48 He lead people to Jesus 00:43:34.51\00:43:35.91 and he knows he can trust us now 00:43:35.94\00:43:37.81 when he we allow him to refresh and restore our life, 00:43:37.85\00:43:40.42 then He says, "I'm gonna make you a Shepherd 00:43:40.45\00:43:43.02 to lead My sheep to Me." 00:43:43.05\00:43:45.12 And I think that's just a really powerful thing 00:43:45.15\00:43:47.22 for His namesake as you kind of referenced, 00:43:47.26\00:43:50.16 you know, that we can't do, we don't earn it, 00:43:50.19\00:43:52.73 it is something that when we're free, 00:43:52.76\00:43:54.10 and we're relief, 00:43:54.13\00:43:55.46 relieved of those burdens off our life, you know, 00:43:55.50\00:43:57.77 it's like our house was such a burden 00:43:57.80\00:43:59.43 for so long, you know, but when you release it, 00:43:59.47\00:44:02.20 it's like now you can go on you can do things 00:44:02.24\00:44:04.84 to bring people to Jesus because you have an experience 00:44:04.87\00:44:07.71 and you can relate to other people. 00:44:07.74\00:44:09.48 And that restores folks, brothers and sisters to say, 00:44:09.51\00:44:13.01 hey, God, Jesus is real, 00:44:13.05\00:44:15.18 you know, He's in this world today. 00:44:15.22\00:44:16.55 And I see it because what you're going through 00:44:16.58\00:44:18.45 and, man, what a transformation you've experienced. 00:44:18.49\00:44:20.89 I want that. 00:44:20.92\00:44:22.26 So I want to know this Jesus, show me how to get to Him. 00:44:22.29\00:44:24.79 Yes, yes. 00:44:24.83\00:44:26.16 You know, so many of us, you know, 00:44:26.19\00:44:27.63 when we're talking about He restores and refreshes. 00:44:27.66\00:44:32.07 So many of us are tired and have been wounded 00:44:32.10\00:44:35.60 and we need healing from different things 00:44:35.64\00:44:38.64 and to know that we can rely upon the Lord, 00:44:38.67\00:44:42.04 the Lord is my Shepherd, the Lord is gonna, 00:44:42.08\00:44:43.81 I'm not gonna have any want. 00:44:43.85\00:44:45.28 He's gonna take care of us. 00:44:45.31\00:44:48.95 Sometimes we even worry ourselves 00:44:48.98\00:44:50.85 out of the hands of the Lord. 00:44:50.89\00:44:52.79 That's a good point. 00:44:52.82\00:44:54.49 It's true. 00:44:54.52\00:44:55.86 And so we constantly need the Lord. 00:44:55.89\00:44:58.99 Let's continue if we, how about we are at... 00:44:59.03\00:45:03.67 Oh, yes, we were talking a little bit about this. 00:45:03.70\00:45:07.44 "Yes or yea, 00:45:07.47\00:45:08.90 though I walk through the valley 00:45:08.94\00:45:11.34 of the shadow of death, 00:45:11.37\00:45:13.81 I will fear no evil. 00:45:13.84\00:45:15.74 For you are with me, 00:45:15.78\00:45:17.35 your rod and your staff, they come from me." 00:45:17.38\00:45:19.15 Any thoughts you would like to share about this verse? 00:45:19.18\00:45:21.58 I was thinking about when, you know, 00:45:21.62\00:45:23.89 a lot of times when you go to a funeral, 00:45:23.92\00:45:26.02 you'll see that the Psalm 23 on the... 00:45:26.05\00:45:30.19 I don't know what those are called. 00:45:30.23\00:45:32.09 It's not a program 00:45:32.13\00:45:33.46 and it's like, obituary, kind of, 00:45:33.50\00:45:36.10 with the person's name and everything. 00:45:36.13\00:45:39.20 And they have this psalm there. 00:45:39.23\00:45:41.17 And a lot of times 00:45:41.20\00:45:42.54 this gets associated with death, 00:45:42.57\00:45:45.67 maybe because it mentions death, 00:45:45.71\00:45:47.88 but I feel like we're in our life, 00:45:47.91\00:45:51.18 we're always walking in the shadow of death 00:45:51.21\00:45:53.42 because of sin. 00:45:53.45\00:45:55.38 So it really doesn't just apply when someone's dead 00:45:55.42\00:45:59.19 or if someone is in the process of dying. 00:45:59.22\00:46:03.09 But it's kind of like 00:46:03.12\00:46:04.56 we're always in that shadow of death, 00:46:04.59\00:46:06.43 and that's why we need Him. 00:46:06.46\00:46:07.80 Yes. 00:46:07.83\00:46:09.16 Yeah, you know, something I just, 00:46:09.20\00:46:10.53 when you said that, 00:46:10.57\00:46:11.90 says for you are with me and I just... 00:46:11.93\00:46:13.27 A German that came here a while back, 00:46:13.30\00:46:14.64 his name was Nico the dragon, 00:46:14.67\00:46:16.00 I calls him so Nico the dragon slayer but he was, 00:46:16.04\00:46:18.24 I talked to him personally about his struggle. 00:46:18.27\00:46:21.08 His name was Nico the dragon slayer? 00:46:21.11\00:46:23.28 That's what he calls himself. 00:46:23.31\00:46:24.65 Now, he was Nico the dragon, 00:46:24.68\00:46:26.01 he is a professional cage fighter. 00:46:26.05\00:46:27.38 Tough guy. Oh, okay. 00:46:27.42\00:46:28.75 Well, what was interesting is 00:46:28.78\00:46:30.12 he was literally trying to destroy himself. 00:46:30.15\00:46:32.35 He told me about how he had his windows 00:46:32.39\00:46:33.92 covered with the tin foil. 00:46:33.96\00:46:35.29 He was doing these things called eight balls 00:46:35.32\00:46:37.63 and different like drugs. 00:46:37.66\00:46:39.19 He tried to kill himself and in the midst of all this, 00:46:39.23\00:46:41.56 he's writing this most beautiful poetry 00:46:41.60\00:46:43.16 which he would be in reading to me. 00:46:43.20\00:46:44.53 Wow. 00:46:44.57\00:46:45.90 And I think about this, he said, I will fear no evil, 00:46:45.93\00:46:47.54 dread no evil, for you are with me. 00:46:47.57\00:46:49.17 Even when you're trying it, 00:46:49.20\00:46:50.61 when you're at your lowest and you think that 00:46:50.64\00:46:52.14 there is no help for you, there's nothing, He's with you, 00:46:52.17\00:46:55.38 in your shadow of death He's there, 00:46:55.41\00:46:57.11 when you're almost near death or when you want to die, 00:46:57.15\00:46:59.61 when you don't want to live anymore. 00:46:59.65\00:47:01.12 He's no, I'm not gonna let go of you, you're mine. 00:47:01.15\00:47:03.18 So just like this Nico, 00:47:03.22\00:47:04.79 now he goes in front of 1000's of people. 00:47:04.82\00:47:06.42 He shared his testimony on 3ABN. 00:47:06.45\00:47:08.02 Yeah, in front of thousands of people now, 00:47:08.06\00:47:09.62 20-30,000 people I'm talking biker gangs 00:47:09.66\00:47:12.03 and big auditoriums 00:47:12.06\00:47:13.40 and he's speaking about the gospel and, you know, 00:47:13.43\00:47:15.80 you're thinking you're at your wit's end, you're done. 00:47:15.83\00:47:17.63 There's no more life for you. 00:47:17.67\00:47:19.57 No, he says, you're with me, you're going to 00:47:19.60\00:47:21.00 and then the rest is your rod will protect me, 00:47:21.04\00:47:22.94 your staff will guide me and they will comfort me so. 00:47:22.97\00:47:25.91 You know Christ, He can comfort you, 00:47:25.94\00:47:27.71 even in those little storms, 00:47:27.74\00:47:29.08 we're talking about the boat and so He can protect you, 00:47:29.11\00:47:31.65 He can guide you through it, 00:47:31.68\00:47:33.72 and you just have to trust Him 00:47:33.75\00:47:35.12 and know that He has your best interest in mind. 00:47:35.15\00:47:38.42 You know, I find interesting. 00:47:38.45\00:47:40.39 Your rod and your staff, they comfort me. 00:47:40.42\00:47:43.39 You know, when you think of a rod and staff, 00:47:43.43\00:47:46.19 you know, depending on how someone, 00:47:46.23\00:47:50.27 how those are used, whether they're disciplinary... 00:47:50.30\00:47:52.97 Yes. 00:47:53.00\00:47:54.34 You wouldn't necessarily look at them 00:47:54.37\00:47:55.70 as being a source of comfort. 00:47:55.74\00:47:59.51 But for a shepherd, 00:47:59.54\00:48:01.68 sheep know that rod is their protection. 00:48:01.71\00:48:05.08 It's there for their protection 00:48:05.11\00:48:06.82 and getting them out of times when they're stuck in trouble. 00:48:06.85\00:48:10.49 It's not to discipline them. 00:48:10.52\00:48:13.32 It's for their comfort and protection. 00:48:13.36\00:48:16.79 Well, as you're talking about that, 00:48:16.83\00:48:18.56 I was thinking about the Ten Commandments, 00:48:18.59\00:48:20.60 and how those are for our protection. 00:48:20.63\00:48:23.10 Really, you know, it kind of goes along 00:48:23.13\00:48:24.70 with what you're saying. 00:48:24.73\00:48:26.84 That's good. 00:48:26.87\00:48:28.37 You know, some of the, for some reason 00:48:28.40\00:48:31.47 they show paintings of the staff having this, 00:48:31.51\00:48:36.01 this shape like this, 00:48:36.04\00:48:37.71 and it seems like the shepherd could use that to. 00:48:37.75\00:48:43.49 As the sheep is trying to stray into, 00:48:43.52\00:48:46.65 go over a cliff or something, he could pull them in 00:48:46.69\00:48:49.42 and keep them from killing themselves. 00:48:49.46\00:48:51.89 And also, if a wolf is coming, 00:48:51.93\00:48:55.93 the sheep would see that he's using that staff 00:48:55.96\00:48:59.13 to protect them from the wolf, 00:48:59.17\00:49:01.74 because it can be used as a weapon as well. 00:49:01.77\00:49:04.64 And it's interesting to look at that, 00:49:04.67\00:49:08.64 that the Lord has many ways of protecting us 00:49:08.68\00:49:11.65 that we do not even know because we do not always... 00:49:11.68\00:49:16.52 We don't have the ability 00:49:16.55\00:49:18.75 to be able to see angels of the Lord 00:49:18.79\00:49:21.16 fighting battles for us and protecting us from harm. 00:49:21.19\00:49:24.36 Yeah, we had an incident like that what you're mentioning. 00:49:24.39\00:49:26.39 I used to have this little truck, 00:49:26.43\00:49:27.76 little Dodge Dakota, 00:49:27.80\00:49:29.26 and my brother and she were in, 00:49:29.30\00:49:31.57 of course, it's just a small single cab. 00:49:31.60\00:49:34.24 Anyways they were talking and going on. 00:49:34.27\00:49:35.67 It was just getting dusk 00:49:35.70\00:49:37.04 and I'm playing with my CD player 00:49:37.07\00:49:38.81 of six CD changer. 00:49:38.84\00:49:40.64 And I just felt this urge to look up 00:49:40.68\00:49:42.94 and as I did there's this farm equipment 00:49:42.98\00:49:44.35 have parked on the road, on the middle of the road. 00:49:44.38\00:49:46.48 I'm like, oh my goodness, 00:49:46.51\00:49:47.85 my first thought is jerking into the other lane of traffic. 00:49:47.88\00:49:50.95 And as I did, I saw a headlight coming for us. 00:49:50.99\00:49:52.79 I'm like, this is going to get ugly 00:49:52.82\00:49:55.39 because the other side was a deep ditch. 00:49:55.42\00:49:57.23 And also I just saw this light just go, down in the ditch 00:49:57.26\00:49:59.66 and I am like what just happened? 00:49:59.69\00:50:01.03 Where did it go and there was a motorcycle coming at us. 00:50:01.06\00:50:02.96 And it dropped down in about an eight foot ditch. 00:50:03.00\00:50:04.77 I'm like how did he not fall? 00:50:04.80\00:50:06.74 And he comes popping right back up, 00:50:06.77\00:50:08.10 I was like, and we, I mean, the Lord protected us there. 00:50:08.14\00:50:10.67 I mean, I should have either ran the back 00:50:10.71\00:50:12.17 of that big farm equipment 00:50:12.21\00:50:14.11 or I should hit this motorcycle. 00:50:14.14\00:50:15.78 How did I miss both those things? 00:50:15.81\00:50:17.35 You know, like, how did that happen? 00:50:17.38\00:50:19.38 Like it's incredible and watch that guy 00:50:19.41\00:50:22.05 not falling that motorcycle that was, 00:50:22.08\00:50:24.49 I don't know how he did that 00:50:24.52\00:50:25.85 but God kept him up so it was incredible. 00:50:25.89\00:50:29.42 The Lord is good. 00:50:29.46\00:50:31.69 Well, time seems to be running out. 00:50:31.73\00:50:34.06 I think we need to move quickly through these verses 00:50:34.10\00:50:37.53 because I would like, really like 00:50:37.57\00:50:38.90 to be able to get to the end of Psalm 23. 00:50:38.93\00:50:42.37 Perhaps somebody has a comment about, 00:50:42.40\00:50:44.37 "You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies, 00:50:44.41\00:50:49.11 You anoint my head with oil, my cup runs over." 00:50:49.14\00:50:53.28 I Actually like that analogy 00:50:53.31\00:50:54.78 'cause I think about, you think about, 00:50:54.82\00:50:57.95 He prepares a table before for us 00:50:57.99\00:51:02.42 in the presence of our enemies. 00:51:02.46\00:51:04.99 Not when we're all safe and comfortable. 00:51:05.03\00:51:07.80 It, you know, he prepares this table for us 00:51:07.83\00:51:11.23 that we may be at this table 00:51:11.27\00:51:13.00 but in the presence of our enemies. 00:51:13.03\00:51:15.94 So it tells you, you know, 00:51:15.97\00:51:18.04 He does us press for enemies and protects us. 00:51:18.07\00:51:20.78 Right. Amen. Amen. 00:51:20.81\00:51:22.54 It's a, you know, 00:51:22.58\00:51:25.75 a taunt as you will to the enemy. 00:51:25.78\00:51:27.48 You know, I'm protecting these people, 00:51:27.52\00:51:30.19 they can sit down at a table 00:51:30.22\00:51:32.09 in your presence and be perfectly safe. 00:51:32.12\00:51:33.92 Wow, it's a good thought. 00:51:33.96\00:51:35.29 There must be just about like we said of Job, you know, 00:51:35.32\00:51:38.49 when Satan came in, he said, hey, you know, 00:51:38.53\00:51:40.60 God said, "How about my righteous man, Job? 00:51:40.63\00:51:42.96 He's like, there's no one like him on the earth. 00:51:43.00\00:51:44.60 And he says, 00:51:44.63\00:51:45.97 "Well, I guarantee you let me do something, 00:51:46.00\00:51:47.34 like he's gonna curse you to your face. 00:51:47.37\00:51:49.20 He goes, well, you can go ahead and do this and that, 00:51:49.24\00:51:51.07 but you're not going to take his life. 00:51:51.11\00:51:52.44 But he had a hedge. 00:51:52.47\00:51:53.81 There's a brook, he had a type of tech around, 00:51:53.84\00:51:55.28 protection round. 00:51:55.31\00:51:56.64 So that's why, why he worships you 00:51:56.68\00:51:58.01 because you have a hedge of protection around him. 00:51:58.05\00:51:59.38 You watch you take the hedge away, 00:51:59.41\00:52:00.75 and I'll guarantee you. 00:52:00.78\00:52:02.12 So yeah, as you mentioned, 00:52:02.15\00:52:03.49 it's you know, that's pretty powerful. 00:52:03.52\00:52:04.85 There's also a footnote 00:52:04.89\00:52:07.19 that goes along with that verse that I thought was really good. 00:52:07.22\00:52:11.39 It comes out of the Amplified, classic version. 00:52:11.43\00:52:15.56 It says, "It is difficult for those 00:52:15.60\00:52:17.13 living in a temperate climate to appreciate 00:52:17.17\00:52:19.23 but it was customary in hot climates 00:52:19.27\00:52:21.14 to anoint the body with oil 00:52:21.17\00:52:22.97 to protect it from excessive perspiration. 00:52:23.00\00:52:25.77 When mixed with perfume, 00:52:25.81\00:52:27.14 the oil imparted a delightfully refreshing 00:52:27.18\00:52:29.04 and invigorating sensation, 00:52:29.08\00:52:31.28 athletes anointed their bodies as a matter of course, 00:52:31.31\00:52:34.12 before running a race. 00:52:34.15\00:52:35.52 As the body therefore, 00:52:35.55\00:52:36.99 anointed with oil was refreshed, invigorated 00:52:37.02\00:52:39.55 and better fitted for action. 00:52:39.59\00:52:41.72 So the Lord would anoint his sheep 00:52:41.76\00:52:43.49 with the Holy Spirit 00:52:43.53\00:52:45.06 and the oil symbolizes to fit them 00:52:45.09\00:52:46.96 to engage more freely in his service 00:52:47.00\00:52:49.30 and run in the way he directs 00:52:49.33\00:52:51.37 in heavenly fellowship with Him." 00:52:51.40\00:52:53.57 Amen. Wow. 00:52:53.60\00:52:55.14 I thought that was interesting 00:52:55.17\00:52:56.50 that the body was anointed with oil 00:52:56.54\00:52:59.71 to protect it. 00:52:59.74\00:53:04.45 Interesting, powerful. Thank you very much. 00:53:04.48\00:53:06.82 So, because of time we have to go to verse 6. 00:53:06.85\00:53:10.69 Surely, goodness and mercy. 00:53:10.72\00:53:14.46 He says, without a doubt, 00:53:14.49\00:53:15.92 "Surely goodness and mercy 00:53:15.96\00:53:17.73 shall follow me all the days of my life, 00:53:17.76\00:53:20.40 and I will dwell in the house of the Lord forever." 00:53:20.43\00:53:26.50 You know, you think about eternal life. 00:53:26.53\00:53:30.81 And the blessing that the Lord has for us, 00:53:30.84\00:53:32.94 David is here, is making a declaration 00:53:32.97\00:53:35.38 of dwelling in the house of the Lord forever. 00:53:35.41\00:53:39.71 It reminds me of that scripture that says, 00:53:39.75\00:53:41.52 "In My Father's house are many mansions." 00:53:41.55\00:53:45.15 And so any thoughts you would like to share 00:53:45.19\00:53:46.59 about goodness and mercy 00:53:46.62\00:53:48.62 following you all the days of your life? 00:53:48.66\00:53:50.66 Because we're coming to our final comment, 00:53:50.69\00:53:52.06 perhaps we can go to a final comment to Donald, 00:53:52.09\00:53:56.26 Janelle and then, Jonathan, before we finish. 00:53:56.30\00:53:59.03 Sure, you know, when I look at this scripture, 00:53:59.07\00:54:00.97 I just like that word, mercy, you know, 00:54:01.00\00:54:03.37 and so many of us, we think, 00:54:03.41\00:54:05.47 "Well, I'm not good enough for the Lord. 00:54:05.51\00:54:09.41 He doesn't want me." 00:54:09.44\00:54:10.95 But He's always there. He's like that shepherd. 00:54:10.98\00:54:13.38 He's always watching over you. 00:54:13.42\00:54:14.82 He knows like you're talking about earlier pulling them 00:54:14.85\00:54:16.48 from some kind of disaster, 00:54:16.52\00:54:19.49 yeah, or danger, pulling them back. 00:54:19.52\00:54:21.69 So I think about that mercy 00:54:21.72\00:54:23.06 and He's in there with that mercy, 00:54:23.09\00:54:25.36 to protect you and that mercy is to cover you 00:54:25.39\00:54:27.80 so that when you come to Him, 00:54:27.83\00:54:29.96 you will be in the house of the Lord forever 00:54:30.00\00:54:31.40 because you've surrendered everything. 00:54:31.43\00:54:32.77 And I like that word submit or surrender. 00:54:32.80\00:54:35.17 We need to surrender. 00:54:35.20\00:54:36.54 So I think that mercy is, 00:54:36.57\00:54:37.91 that really speaks to me, thankful for mercy. 00:54:37.94\00:54:40.08 Thank you. 00:54:40.11\00:54:41.44 I was thinking about how the first part of that verse 00:54:41.48\00:54:44.25 that says goodness and mercy, 00:54:44.28\00:54:46.25 and it's not the prosperity gospel. 00:54:46.28\00:54:49.85 This is not saying 00:54:49.88\00:54:51.22 that we're never going to experience bad things, 00:54:51.25\00:54:53.89 but God's goodness and mercy will get us through it. 00:54:53.92\00:54:56.86 And that's how we can be with Him 00:54:56.89\00:55:01.46 and have that being content 00:55:01.50\00:55:06.10 and have that joy that He gives. 00:55:06.13\00:55:08.70 Amen. Amen, Jonathan? 00:55:08.74\00:55:11.31 I think we all look forward to the day when we will dwell 00:55:11.34\00:55:13.58 in the house of the Lord forever. 00:55:13.61\00:55:16.41 That's such a wonderful thing to look forward to. 00:55:16.44\00:55:21.48 Dwelling in something that God has prepared 00:55:21.52\00:55:23.82 and forevermore. 00:55:23.85\00:55:26.86 Not something we can comprehend. 00:55:26.89\00:55:28.52 Yeah, precisely. 00:55:28.56\00:55:29.89 Amen. 00:55:29.92\00:55:31.26 Well, we want to thank each and every one of you, 00:55:31.29\00:55:33.29 Jonathan and Janelle, and Donald, 00:55:33.33\00:55:36.50 I would like to share concerning goodness and mercy 00:55:36.53\00:55:40.64 following us all the days of our life. 00:55:40.67\00:55:42.60 That means in the here and now, 00:55:42.64\00:55:44.01 the Lord can bless us with goodness and mercy. 00:55:44.04\00:55:47.68 And then this part about dwelling 00:55:47.71\00:55:49.04 in the house of the Lord forever. 00:55:49.08\00:55:50.41 The Lord does promise us safety within His house 00:55:50.45\00:55:55.28 and safety beyond even this world 00:55:55.32\00:55:58.49 because the Lord is gonna do away 00:55:58.52\00:56:01.42 with all suffering. 00:56:01.46\00:56:02.79 That's right. 00:56:02.82\00:56:04.16 And that's a source of comfort for us. 00:56:04.19\00:56:05.59 We'd like to read to you from 1 Peter 5:4, 00:56:05.63\00:56:10.17 and concerning their great hope or as we, 00:56:10.20\00:56:14.67 the Bible calls it blessed hope, it says, 00:56:14.70\00:56:16.91 "And when the chief Shepherd appears, 00:56:16.94\00:56:21.34 you will receive the crown of glory 00:56:21.38\00:56:24.78 that does not fade away." 00:56:24.81\00:56:27.12 Amen. 00:56:27.15\00:56:28.48 And so this is a picture of Jesus. 00:56:28.52\00:56:31.65 And when He appears, and blesses us, 00:56:31.69\00:56:35.06 you know, with a crown of glory, 00:56:35.09\00:56:36.62 and you think about, 00:56:36.66\00:56:37.99 wow, please, you know, this crown... 00:56:38.03\00:56:41.50 It's just going to be wonderful to know 00:56:41.53\00:56:43.13 that He has come to save us and deliver us. 00:56:43.16\00:56:47.50 And this is a promise and a blessing for all. 00:56:47.54\00:56:50.54 So I hope that you, as we have been talking here, 00:56:50.57\00:56:54.78 has created in you a desire 00:56:54.81\00:56:57.08 to really give your heart and your life to the Lord 00:56:57.11\00:56:59.91 and allow the Lord to be your Shepherd. 00:56:59.95\00:57:01.98 Jesus wants to be your Shepherd. 00:57:02.02\00:57:03.65 Jesus wants to take care of you, 00:57:03.69\00:57:05.55 and Jesus wants to comfort, and restore, and heal, 00:57:05.59\00:57:09.89 and lead you in the paths of righteousness. 00:57:09.92\00:57:13.09 Amen. 00:57:13.13\00:57:14.46 And so that you too may be blessed 00:57:14.50\00:57:16.46 with goodness and mercy, 00:57:16.50\00:57:18.30 and also to have the privilege and opportunity 00:57:18.33\00:57:20.87 to dwell in the house of the Lord forever. 00:57:20.90\00:57:23.54 And this is why I like to say, give your heart to the Lord. 00:57:23.57\00:57:27.64 Give your heart to the Lord Jesus Christ 00:57:27.68\00:57:29.61 and you will find peace and happiness 00:57:29.64\00:57:30.98 that begins in this world and continues forever. 00:57:31.01\00:57:33.28 God bless you.
