Yes, right. 00:03:28.40\00:03:30.81 So it's exciting. It is very exciting. 00:03:30.84\00:03:32.74 And so talking about our topic of praise, 00:03:32.77\00:03:35.18 praise Him. 00:03:35.21\00:03:36.58 And you mentioned this on a program some time back 00:03:36.61\00:03:38.45 that you're actually been going through the Bible 00:03:38.48\00:03:39.91 which is really cool. 00:03:39.95\00:03:41.28 Right, exactly. Tell us about that? 00:03:41.32\00:03:42.65 Going through each chapter of the Bible 00:03:42.68\00:03:44.52 starting from Genesis and finding... 00:03:44.55\00:03:48.56 In literally every verse, 00:03:48.59\00:03:49.92 something that we can praise God about, 00:03:49.96\00:03:52.16 we can praise Him for. 00:03:52.19\00:03:53.53 And, I mean, the Word is just full if we look for it. 00:03:53.56\00:03:57.07 And some sometimes it's very obvious, 00:03:57.10\00:03:58.90 sometimes we have to look and see how we can apply it 00:03:58.93\00:04:01.47 to our life and praising Him 00:04:01.50\00:04:03.77 because not every situation is good in the Bible, 00:04:03.81\00:04:07.11 it's not always maybe a praiseworthy 00:04:07.14\00:04:10.51 because it benefits us, but even the bad things, 00:04:10.55\00:04:13.72 the lessons that we can learn from other people 00:04:13.75\00:04:16.05 having gone through, 00:04:16.08\00:04:17.42 we can praise God that He gave us those examples. 00:04:17.45\00:04:19.22 So... 00:04:19.25\00:04:20.59 I like that because you think of psalms and stuff as praise. 00:04:20.62\00:04:22.12 Yes. 00:04:22.16\00:04:23.49 But you actually start in Genesis, didn't you? 00:04:23.53\00:04:24.86 You start in the Book of Genesis, and that's great. 00:04:24.89\00:04:26.73 Amen, amen. It's a great question. 00:11:08.53\00:11:10.47 So what I'm going to do is pull my phone out, 00:11:10.50\00:11:12.17 look at Google. 00:11:12.20\00:11:13.84 So let see praise versus thanksgiving. 00:11:13.87\00:11:16.07 Go ahead. 00:11:16.10\00:11:17.44 While he does that, any thoughts? 00:11:17.47\00:11:18.91 Well, this is just coming 00:11:18.94\00:11:20.28 'cause you just sprung that on us really quickly. 00:11:20.31\00:11:21.64 I really did. I like it, I like it. 00:11:21.68\00:11:23.71 In my opinion, it doesn't seem like there is. 00:11:23.75\00:11:25.78 Well, I mean, I think there is some 00:11:25.81\00:11:27.15 synonymous connection with the two. 00:11:27.18\00:11:29.95 I praise God because I am thankful. 00:11:29.98\00:11:32.02 I mean, that's just the first thing 00:11:32.05\00:11:33.39 that comes to me, but yet we can, 00:11:33.42\00:11:34.89 I think, express a thanks 00:11:34.92\00:11:37.06 that almost comes across as a praise. 00:11:37.09\00:11:39.16 And so absolutely, 00:11:39.19\00:11:41.53 I think that's kind of 00:11:41.56\00:11:42.90 what's coming to my mind at the moment, 00:11:42.93\00:11:44.27 but what is Google saying, Greg? 00:11:44.30\00:11:46.50 I think it's a little bit confused here. 00:11:46.53\00:11:49.47 I always think, but I don't even know exactly, 00:11:49.50\00:11:51.74 but I always think that thanks is for things. 00:11:51.77\00:11:54.31 So thanks would be, 00:11:54.34\00:11:55.91 "I'm thankful I have a bed at night." 00:11:55.94\00:11:57.68 Or "I'm thankful for my eyesight." 00:11:57.71\00:11:59.31 Or "I'm thankful for my friends." 00:11:59.35\00:12:01.45 Things, but praise is different to me, 00:12:01.48\00:12:05.62 it's bigger, it's who God is. 00:12:05.65\00:12:08.42 So when I come to God, I give Him thanks. 00:12:08.46\00:12:11.29 Thank you for what You've done in my life, 00:12:11.33\00:12:12.96 thank You for these different things I have, 00:12:12.99\00:12:15.10 put then praises, God, You're great, God, You're good. 00:12:15.13\00:12:18.63 God, you're... 00:12:18.67\00:12:20.10 I don't know, that's in my mind, 00:12:20.14\00:12:21.57 but I don't know if that's... 00:12:21.60\00:12:22.94 Well, this actually says 00:12:22.97\00:12:24.31 we praise the Lord for who He is, 00:12:24.34\00:12:26.07 and we thank the Lord for what He's done. 00:12:26.11\00:12:28.44 Okay. So that will be okay. 00:12:28.48\00:12:29.81 Yeah, it goes along with what you're saying. 00:12:29.84\00:12:31.18 So fortunately, we get to have both, 00:12:31.21\00:12:34.22 and we don't limit ourselves to one or the other. 00:12:34.25\00:12:36.62 Praise the Lord, Tim. That's right. 00:12:36.65\00:12:37.99 So let's do both. 00:12:38.02\00:12:40.39 We've to be thankful and also praise. 00:12:40.42\00:12:42.02 Thankful that we get to praise. That's a good question. 00:12:42.06\00:12:43.39 Amen. That's right. 00:12:43.43\00:12:45.19 So we're going to look at Psalm 103, 00:12:45.23\00:12:47.03 so hopefully you're turning in your Bible to Psalm 103, 00:12:47.06\00:12:49.30 starting with verse one, we're going to kind of 00:12:49.33\00:12:51.10 clip along through some of these verses here 00:12:51.13\00:12:52.60 and see what we can glean from these great verses 00:12:52.63\00:12:54.87 that David wrote. 00:12:54.90\00:12:56.50 Amen. 00:12:56.54\00:12:57.87 Do you have your Amplified, Tim? 00:12:57.91\00:12:59.24 I do. Oh, yay! 00:12:59.27\00:13:00.61 I'll tell you what, this psalm right here, 00:13:00.64\00:13:02.51 if there were only one psalm in the whole Psalm, 00:13:02.54\00:13:05.18 I would choose this psalm just because it excites me, 00:13:05.21\00:13:09.72 and it's just... 00:13:09.75\00:13:11.09 Of course, like you said, this was when he was on a high, 00:13:11.12\00:13:14.69 and so it puts me on a high, 00:13:14.72\00:13:17.43 I mean, I could run around this table 00:13:17.46\00:13:19.29 if I weren't chained down to this chair. 00:13:19.33\00:13:21.30 And because this... 00:13:21.33\00:13:22.83 By a mic cord. 00:13:22.86\00:13:24.20 By a mic chord, right, right. 00:13:24.23\00:13:25.80 Yeah, we don't literally chain people necessarily, 00:13:25.83\00:13:28.14 but we just want to make that clear with all. 00:13:28.17\00:13:29.50 It's the mic cord that lay with the... 00:13:29.54\00:13:30.94 So let's praise the Lord that we're not. 00:13:30.97\00:13:32.34 Right, exactly right. 00:13:32.37\00:13:34.28 That's going to be violation of the penal code somewhere. 00:13:34.31\00:13:37.35 But truly, this is just a great psalm, 00:13:37.38\00:13:39.25 and so let's just start reading. 00:13:39.28\00:13:41.58 It says, "Bless the Lord, O my soul, 00:13:41.62\00:13:43.99 and all that is within me, bless His holy name!" 00:13:44.02\00:13:46.02 We just sang it. 00:13:46.05\00:13:47.39 "Bless the Lord, O my soul, 00:13:47.42\00:13:48.76 and forget not all His benefits." 00:13:48.79\00:13:51.23 Now who doesn't like benefits? 00:13:51.26\00:13:52.59 We live in, unfortunately 00:13:52.63\00:13:54.13 a very entitlement driven society, 00:13:54.16\00:13:56.93 and so this ought to hit home with multitude of people. 00:13:56.97\00:14:01.07 But these benefits are so much better, 00:14:01.10\00:14:03.61 in verse 3 it says, 00:14:03.64\00:14:04.97 "Who forgives everyone of your iniquities, 00:14:05.01\00:14:07.78 who heals each one of your diseases." 00:14:07.81\00:14:10.51 In verse 4, "Who redeems your life 00:14:10.55\00:14:12.71 from the pit and corruption, who beautifies, dignifies, 00:14:12.75\00:14:16.48 and crowns you with loving kindness and tender mercy." 00:14:16.52\00:14:19.82 You know, again, 00:14:19.85\00:14:21.42 this psalm is like one of those, drop the mic. 00:14:21.46\00:14:24.69 That's the way I feel every time 00:14:24.73\00:14:26.90 when I read clear to verse 22. 00:14:26.93\00:14:28.83 David couldn't say anymore 00:14:28.86\00:14:30.60 than just bless the Lord, O my soul. 00:14:30.63\00:14:32.90 And I like that line, "O my soul," 00:14:32.93\00:14:35.84 he's talking to himself, 00:14:35.87\00:14:37.21 there's some self talk there, 00:14:37.24\00:14:38.61 you know, that psychology is big now on, 00:14:38.64\00:14:40.84 you know, pepping yourself up, 00:14:40.88\00:14:43.08 and, you know, whenever you go in for a job interview 00:14:43.11\00:14:46.01 or any kind of a tough situation, 00:14:46.05\00:14:48.65 you know, you speak to yourself in good thoughts, 00:14:48.68\00:14:51.29 you know. 00:14:51.32\00:14:53.02 Anyway, this is perfect for that. 00:14:53.05\00:14:55.19 "Bless the Lord, O my soul, forget not all His benefits." 00:14:55.22\00:14:59.56 It's just powerful to me. 00:14:59.59\00:15:01.13 It's easy to forget His benefits, 00:15:01.16\00:15:02.93 isn't it? 00:15:02.96\00:15:04.30 And that's where we can get down 00:15:04.33\00:15:05.67 in the dumps some times so to speak, 00:15:05.70\00:15:07.40 you know, and you've heard, been around people, 00:15:07.44\00:15:09.20 and I know even myself sometimes 00:15:09.24\00:15:10.57 you can start thinking negatively. 00:15:10.61\00:15:11.94 It's interesting how you can spiral down, 00:15:11.97\00:15:13.58 but there's always something to praise the Lord for. 00:15:13.61\00:15:16.14 Yeah, forget not all his benefits. 00:15:16.18\00:15:19.21 That's right. That's great. 00:15:19.25\00:15:20.58 You know, in the Old Testament when it says, 00:15:20.62\00:15:22.48 "God forgets, " it speaks of His pardon. 00:15:22.52\00:15:25.45 So in other words, God says, I forgot that. 00:15:25.49\00:15:27.52 Meaning, those sins were thrown into the depths of the sea. 00:15:27.56\00:15:30.73 But in the Old Testament 00:15:30.76\00:15:32.09 when it speaks of man forgetting, 00:15:32.13\00:15:33.86 it's talking about ingratitude or rebellion. 00:15:33.90\00:15:37.60 And so in this case, David's saying, 00:15:37.63\00:15:39.97 "And forget not all His benefits." 00:15:40.00\00:15:42.17 In other words, don't live in ingratitude, Jill. 00:15:42.20\00:15:44.17 You know, don't live in ingratitude 00:15:44.21\00:15:45.77 for what God has done for you. 00:15:45.81\00:15:47.78 or don't live in rebellion for what He's done. 00:15:47.81\00:15:51.01 That's good. 00:15:51.05\00:15:52.61 What have you seen it, Pastor? 00:15:52.65\00:15:54.32 Anything in these verses that we've been looking 00:15:54.35\00:15:56.22 at 1 through 4? 00:15:56.25\00:15:58.12 Yeah. Absolutely. 00:15:58.15\00:15:59.49 There's a lot there, isn't there? 00:15:59.52\00:16:00.86 I mean you could probably preach a sermon off 00:16:00.89\00:16:02.22 of one of those. 00:16:02.26\00:16:03.59 He was reading from the Amplified Version. 00:16:03.63\00:16:04.96 It's a beautiful translation, I love the translation 00:16:04.99\00:16:07.66 of the New King James Version as well. 00:16:07.70\00:16:09.70 I'm going to read verses 3 to 4 there. 00:16:09.73\00:16:11.33 It says, "Who forgives all your iniquities, 00:16:11.37\00:16:13.70 who heals all your diseases." 00:16:13.74\00:16:15.40 You know, we serve a forgiving God. 00:16:15.44\00:16:17.21 And some people when they think of the Old Testament, God, 00:16:17.24\00:16:19.41 they sometimes they see the difference 00:16:19.44\00:16:20.81 between the Old Testament and the New Testament God 00:16:20.84\00:16:22.74 as if the New Testament God is more lenient, 00:16:22.78\00:16:25.71 and more loving, and kind, 00:16:25.75\00:16:27.88 but the Old Testament God is stern, 00:16:27.92\00:16:29.25 but yet David served 00:16:29.28\00:16:31.59 what we would consider the Old Testament God, 00:16:31.62\00:16:33.86 but we know it's the same wonderful God across the board, 00:16:33.89\00:16:36.79 but He forgives, He's a forgiving God, 00:16:36.83\00:16:39.33 and He is worthy to be praised, He heals all of our diseases, 00:16:39.36\00:16:42.83 God still heals diseases today. 00:16:42.86\00:16:44.80 He is still the ultimate physician 00:16:44.83\00:16:46.77 still today, and so that's, these powerful words 00:16:46.80\00:16:49.10 that David is choosing here. 00:16:49.14\00:16:50.74 In verse 4, the New King James Version says, 00:16:50.77\00:16:53.21 "Who redeems your life from destruction." 00:16:53.24\00:16:55.31 Yes. 00:16:55.34\00:16:56.68 You know, God has a plan for us, 00:16:56.71\00:16:58.11 but sometimes we don't necessarily walk 00:16:58.15\00:17:00.75 according to that plan. 00:17:00.78\00:17:02.35 But, you know, He's a redeeming God, 00:17:02.38\00:17:04.02 He's there to save us, 00:17:04.05\00:17:05.39 He's there to watch our back and to keep up with us, 00:17:05.42\00:17:08.02 to make sure that that we can be saved, 00:17:08.06\00:17:10.16 and that we're not going to fall 00:17:10.19\00:17:11.53 into that path of destruction. 00:17:11.56\00:17:12.89 It goes on to say, 00:17:12.93\00:17:14.43 "Who crowns you with loving kindness 00:17:14.46\00:17:16.13 and tender mercies." 00:17:16.16\00:17:19.07 I just praise the Lord for the Lord, 00:17:19.10\00:17:22.67 for His loving kindness and His tender mercies. 00:17:22.70\00:17:25.04 Amen. Amen. 00:17:25.07\00:17:26.41 You know, Jason, as you look at verse 3, 00:17:26.44\00:17:27.91 it says, "Who forgiveth all thine iniquities." 00:17:27.94\00:17:31.11 That's a powerful, 00:17:31.15\00:17:32.68 just section of that verse, isn't it? 00:17:32.71\00:17:34.12 Doesn't say some of them, it says, all of them. 00:17:34.15\00:17:38.62 That's right. All of them. 00:17:38.65\00:17:40.02 You know, when I'm reading this 00:17:40.06\00:17:43.29 like, take for example verse 1, and 2, 00:17:43.32\00:17:47.30 "Bless the Lord, O my soul, 00:17:47.33\00:17:49.53 and all that is within me, bless His holy name. 00:17:49.56\00:17:52.10 Bless the Lord, O my soul, 00:17:52.13\00:17:53.90 and forget not all His benefits." 00:17:53.94\00:17:56.34 You know, sometimes we... 00:17:56.37\00:17:57.77 God blesses us, and... 00:17:57.81\00:17:59.71 Well, He's always blessing us, but sometimes He'll bless us, 00:17:59.74\00:18:02.54 and then we have 00:18:02.58\00:18:03.91 what I like to call a case of blessing amnesia 00:18:03.95\00:18:06.88 where we have been blessed, 00:18:06.92\00:18:09.32 we have been brought through a particular circumstance, 00:18:09.35\00:18:12.52 and then we end up going on to do the same thing 00:18:12.55\00:18:14.86 that we were doing before. 00:18:14.89\00:18:16.52 And, you know, when you look at the story of the Israelites 00:18:16.56\00:18:19.43 and Moses leading them through the wilderness 00:18:19.46\00:18:23.73 and all of these things, 00:18:23.77\00:18:25.60 and you end up seeing where God delivered them 00:18:25.63\00:18:31.34 time and time again, bless them continually, 00:18:31.37\00:18:36.41 and had the most patience 00:18:36.44\00:18:39.35 that anyone could ever have, 00:18:39.38\00:18:42.78 and yet they still had a case of blessing amnesia, 00:18:42.82\00:18:46.55 where they would complain and resort back to the same way 00:18:46.59\00:18:49.92 that they were going before, you know. 00:18:49.96\00:18:51.99 And there's been cases and instances in my life, 00:18:52.03\00:18:55.46 personally, where I've had blessing amnesia. 00:18:55.50\00:18:59.13 Me too. 00:18:59.17\00:19:00.50 Absolutely. I like that. 00:19:00.54\00:19:02.07 Well, I think that's because, you know, 00:19:02.10\00:19:04.34 life brings us situations. 00:19:04.37\00:19:06.98 I mean, you know, and you're absolutely right, 00:19:07.01\00:19:09.98 but it's almost like God is testing us to see, 00:19:10.01\00:19:14.52 He's giving us another opportunity 00:19:14.55\00:19:16.38 to see how we will respond the next time 00:19:16.42\00:19:19.85 when it comes around. 00:19:19.89\00:19:22.76 I like to... 00:19:22.79\00:19:24.13 I read something that says, "Praise is not the byproduct, 00:19:24.16\00:19:27.43 but the driving force." 00:19:27.46\00:19:29.46 It's not... So it's not... 00:19:29.50\00:19:30.83 And so whenever... 00:19:30.87\00:19:32.20 And it's not the caboose, but the engine. 00:19:32.23\00:19:35.30 Praise should be our first thought 00:19:35.34\00:19:38.37 and not the reason. 00:19:38.41\00:19:40.68 But when we've gone through something, 00:19:40.71\00:19:42.58 it's not the byproduct. 00:19:42.61\00:19:44.51 So when we... 00:19:44.55\00:19:46.92 Everything that we go through, 00:19:46.95\00:19:48.88 we need to just have 00:19:48.92\00:19:50.25 an instantaneous response of praise 00:19:50.29\00:19:53.89 instead of reacting negatively or... 00:19:53.92\00:19:59.23 But that's a process of learning. 00:19:59.26\00:20:02.30 It really is. Go ahead. 00:20:02.33\00:20:05.07 I'll jump in, I'll jump in. 00:20:05.10\00:20:06.70 Absolutely. 00:20:06.74\00:20:08.07 I'm so glad that you said that because like 00:20:08.10\00:20:10.11 whenever we're going through trials 00:20:10.14\00:20:11.57 and stuff like that, 00:20:11.61\00:20:12.94 there's still a blessing at the end of the tunnel 00:20:12.97\00:20:14.54 that God is refining our character 00:20:14.58\00:20:16.18 at that very moment, and we don't know 00:20:16.21\00:20:17.78 why we're going through something, 00:20:17.81\00:20:19.21 and it's so hard to praise God during those times. 00:20:19.25\00:20:23.79 But, you know, you never know 00:20:23.82\00:20:25.79 why you're going through a particular situation. 00:20:25.82\00:20:28.92 And first, it's important to know that 00:20:28.96\00:20:31.43 it's not God that's causing the situation 00:20:31.46\00:20:34.50 that you're going through, He's allowing it to happen. 00:20:34.53\00:20:37.60 And ultimately, God has... 00:20:37.63\00:20:39.23 He sees the end from the beginning, 00:20:39.27\00:20:40.67 so He has eternal life in mind, and your salvation in mind, 00:20:40.70\00:20:45.77 and so how does this trial 00:20:45.81\00:20:49.48 relate to where you can end up. 00:20:49.51\00:20:52.41 You know, years ago, I got in trouble. 00:20:52.45\00:20:57.12 I struggled with drugs and the sale of narcotics 00:20:57.15\00:20:59.72 and things like that, 00:20:59.75\00:21:01.09 and I was struggling with these issues, 00:21:01.12\00:21:03.06 and I remember getting arrested one day. 00:21:03.09\00:21:06.16 And, you know, now looking back on it, 00:21:06.19\00:21:09.50 that was a great time for me, you know, 00:21:09.53\00:21:12.03 because that was a turning point for me, 00:21:12.07\00:21:13.70 that was my rock bottom. 00:21:13.74\00:21:15.27 And so that particular event, which was tragic in my mind, 00:21:15.30\00:21:20.31 you know, my parents didn't raise me that way, 00:21:20.34\00:21:23.01 and I was allowed to go through that. 00:21:23.04\00:21:27.55 But when I think about where I could have ended up, 00:21:27.58\00:21:30.25 I could be dead, 00:21:30.29\00:21:31.75 I could not be sitting at this table right now 00:21:31.79\00:21:33.69 with you guys 00:21:33.72\00:21:35.29 or I could be in prison for a long time, 00:21:35.32\00:21:38.46 you know, but God spared my life, 00:21:38.49\00:21:41.20 and so that that blessing 00:21:41.23\00:21:42.86 that was at the end of the tunnel 00:21:42.90\00:21:44.23 that I didn't see right then, I see now. 00:21:44.27\00:21:47.14 Amen. Praise the Lord. 00:21:47.17\00:21:49.07 Great testimony. Praise the Lord. 00:21:49.10\00:21:50.44 Yeah, you know, I just wanted to mention 00:21:50.47\00:21:52.37 just response from what Tim just said that 00:21:52.41\00:21:54.48 that praise is the driving force. 00:21:54.51\00:21:56.41 In other words, pray should automatically 00:21:56.44\00:21:58.45 precede the blessings, the gifts, 00:21:58.48\00:22:00.45 the things that God bestows upon us. 00:22:00.48\00:22:02.58 And I think that's what you had kind of started with 00:22:02.62\00:22:04.29 in the beginning, Greg. 00:22:04.32\00:22:05.65 And, you know, the idea of that, you know, 00:22:05.69\00:22:07.02 in the Book of Revelation, 00:22:07.06\00:22:08.39 it tells us that God is worthy to be worshiped 00:22:08.42\00:22:10.89 just because of who He is. 00:22:10.93\00:22:12.39 He's the creator of all things. 00:22:12.43\00:22:13.86 And I kind of just insert the concept of praise there 00:22:13.90\00:22:16.23 because He is worthy to be praised 00:22:16.26\00:22:19.53 whether we receive those benefits or not. 00:22:19.57\00:22:22.84 And we kind of see this 00:22:22.87\00:22:24.21 even in the theme of the great controversy in the Bible. 00:22:24.24\00:22:26.51 For instance, in the story of Job, 00:22:26.54\00:22:28.08 there's kind of an implied accusation 00:22:28.11\00:22:29.78 against the character of God 00:22:29.81\00:22:31.15 right there as the devil shows up 00:22:31.18\00:22:32.51 to this heavenly, you know, meeting 00:22:32.55\00:22:36.62 and he basically just throws it right in God's face. 00:22:36.65\00:22:38.29 You know what? 00:22:38.32\00:22:39.65 You in and of yourself are not worthy to be worship 00:22:39.69\00:22:41.56 because, well, you give Job good things, 00:22:41.59\00:22:43.56 and that's why he worships you, that's why he praises you. 00:22:43.59\00:22:47.03 You just shower him with all those good things. 00:22:47.06\00:22:48.40 If you just take all those benefits away, 00:22:48.43\00:22:50.57 all of those gifts that he, you know, 00:22:50.60\00:22:53.00 he's going to curse You to Your face. 00:22:53.03\00:22:54.70 In other words there's an implied accusation that God, 00:22:54.74\00:22:57.21 You in and of Yourself are not worthy to be praised. 00:22:57.24\00:23:00.74 You don't deserve the praise. You don't deserve the worship. 00:23:00.78\00:23:02.64 But yet the truth is we know the devil, he's a liar. 00:23:02.68\00:23:06.05 Jesus says, he's a liar, he's the father of liars. 00:23:06.08\00:23:08.35 And so I love what you just said 00:23:08.38\00:23:09.78 because that is true 00:23:09.82\00:23:11.55 whether I receive the benefit or I don't, 00:23:11.59\00:23:13.76 whether I receive the gifts or I don't, 00:23:13.79\00:23:17.03 God is worthy to be praised, 00:23:17.06\00:23:18.43 and I love this psalm for that, absolutely. 00:23:18.46\00:23:20.30 Amen. 00:23:20.33\00:23:21.70 And you think in Job's life, 00:23:21.73\00:23:23.06 I mean he did have a lot of material blessings, 00:23:23.10\00:23:25.03 which you could have said were coming from God. 00:23:25.07\00:23:27.34 But what I like about this psalm 00:23:27.37\00:23:29.04 is these aren't material blessings, 00:23:29.07\00:23:30.74 these are blessings that all of us can claim. 00:23:30.77\00:23:34.01 You know, you think about forget not all of His benefits, 00:23:34.04\00:23:35.98 and what are those benefits? 00:23:36.01\00:23:37.35 He forgives all our iniquities, 00:23:37.38\00:23:38.71 that forgiveness is extended to everyone. 00:23:38.75\00:23:41.48 And, you know, that forgiveness is not just for certain people, 00:23:41.52\00:23:43.95 it's extended to all. 00:23:43.99\00:23:45.42 It says, "Who heals all your diseases." 00:23:45.45\00:23:47.92 Now if you do a word study, 00:23:47.96\00:23:49.92 that's talking about not just physical, 00:23:49.96\00:23:53.19 but spiritual healing, and emotional healing. 00:23:53.23\00:23:58.60 So when we read this we think, "Okay, I'm going to be 00:23:58.63\00:24:01.54 automatically physically healed," 00:24:01.57\00:24:02.90 but God's also saying, 00:24:02.94\00:24:04.27 "I want to heal you spiritually, 00:24:04.31\00:24:05.94 you know, I want to heal you emotionally." 00:24:05.97\00:24:09.04 And, of course, physically, 00:24:09.08\00:24:10.41 and He will heal us all whether it's now 00:24:10.45\00:24:12.71 or not till the second coming, but, you know, He does heal. 00:24:12.75\00:24:16.72 One more who redeems your life from destruction. 00:24:16.75\00:24:18.95 The word "redeems" means to buy back. 00:24:18.99\00:24:21.09 And God wants to do that for all of us. 00:24:21.12\00:24:22.72 You know, He wants to buy us back 00:24:22.76\00:24:25.16 from the land of the enemy. 00:24:25.19\00:24:26.53 And every time I read that word, I just think, 00:24:26.56\00:24:30.13 you know, if I had made something, 00:24:30.17\00:24:33.70 you know, and you loved it with all your heart, 00:24:33.74\00:24:35.44 and then it turned away, and it spat in your face, 00:24:35.47\00:24:38.77 and just turned against you and said, 00:24:38.81\00:24:42.38 "I don't care about you," and yet He says, 00:24:42.41\00:24:43.98 "I want to buy that person back," 00:24:44.01\00:24:47.15 you know, I mean how incredible. 00:24:47.18\00:24:48.72 So everything in this psalm, 00:24:48.75\00:24:51.05 who crowns you with loving kindness 00:24:51.09\00:24:52.65 and tender mercies. 00:24:52.69\00:24:54.02 Tender mercies in Hebrew means compassion. 00:24:54.06\00:24:56.56 So God's compassion is extended to everybody. 00:24:56.59\00:25:00.30 So this is for all of us. 00:25:00.33\00:25:02.36 And the crowneth part 00:25:02.40\00:25:03.73 in Hebrew also means to surround. 00:25:03.77\00:25:05.50 Yeah. So that's really neat too... 00:25:05.53\00:25:06.87 When you think of crown, 00:25:06.90\00:25:08.24 you think of putting on somebody's head, 00:25:08.27\00:25:09.60 but it's actually, 00:25:09.64\00:25:10.97 "He surrounds you with loving kindness." 00:25:11.01\00:25:12.37 So He's encircling you. 00:25:12.41\00:25:14.18 So if you feel alone or out there all by yourself 00:25:14.21\00:25:16.58 and nobody loves me, 00:25:16.61\00:25:18.08 and you're surrounded by God's love. 00:25:18.11\00:25:19.88 So it goes back to He's worthy to be praised. 00:25:19.91\00:25:21.45 He is worthy. Absolutely. Absolutely. 00:25:21.48\00:25:23.12 You know, and it's sad 00:25:23.15\00:25:24.49 because I think about just simple things 00:25:24.52\00:25:25.85 we talked about, again, I'm going back to Australia, 00:25:25.89\00:25:27.32 but, you know, the time, 00:25:27.36\00:25:29.02 the jet lag stuff is just pretty incredible, 00:25:29.06\00:25:31.19 time difference is incredible. 00:25:31.23\00:25:32.56 So when I wake up in the morning 00:25:32.59\00:25:34.10 and forced myself to get up at 5 am, 00:25:34.13\00:25:36.70 do you know I complain a little bit, "I am so tired." 00:25:36.73\00:25:39.67 I should have been, "Praise the Lord, 00:25:39.70\00:25:41.04 I woke up, I'm alive." 00:25:41.07\00:25:42.97 You know, so it's just interesting 00:25:43.00\00:25:44.34 how some of these things 00:25:44.37\00:25:45.71 you can get into a little bit of like, 00:25:45.74\00:25:47.08 "Oh, I'm so tired and man, that life is tough." 00:25:47.11\00:25:49.24 But it should be like, "Praise the Lord, I'm alive. 00:25:49.28\00:25:51.51 Someone else didn't wake up." 00:25:51.55\00:25:53.21 It's truly is a habit. 00:25:53.25\00:25:55.88 There you go. 00:25:55.92\00:25:57.25 And just as much as being negative is a bad habit, 00:25:57.29\00:26:00.99 praising is a good habit, and it's a choice, it begun as, 00:26:01.02\00:26:05.09 all habits mostly are, but we're choosing... 00:26:05.13\00:26:09.86 And I have friends that will tell me, you know, 00:26:09.90\00:26:12.73 even I have non-Christian friends 00:26:12.77\00:26:15.27 who will say of all the times I go to church during the week. 00:26:15.30\00:26:20.51 One guy told me, "You need to relax." 00:26:20.54\00:26:23.24 And I said, "Well, you know, it's just... 00:26:23.28\00:26:25.91 First of all, going to church is in my blood." 00:26:25.95\00:26:29.08 It's just been what we've done 00:26:29.12\00:26:31.52 when I started when I was a kid, 00:26:31.55\00:26:32.99 and we went to church, 00:26:33.02\00:26:34.36 and it never was a pressure to me 00:26:34.39\00:26:36.49 because it was where my friends were, 00:26:36.52\00:26:38.33 and I got to learn about Christ, 00:26:38.36\00:26:40.60 and, you know, it was just good time. 00:26:40.63\00:26:43.47 So, but truly, praising is a choice. 00:26:43.50\00:26:48.90 So, you know, it doesn't always necessarily mean 00:26:48.94\00:26:52.41 that we feel like it, but it is, 00:26:52.44\00:26:54.71 it's just something we... 00:26:54.74\00:26:56.08 Again, it's your first thought instead of the afterthought, 00:26:56.11\00:26:59.31 so... 00:26:59.35\00:27:00.68 And it should be. What is it like our driving? 00:27:00.72\00:27:02.05 Driving force. 00:27:02.08\00:27:03.42 Driving force instead of the byproduct. 00:27:03.45\00:27:04.79 That's something, but, yeah. 00:27:04.82\00:27:06.49 Sort of make a habit then, 00:27:06.52\00:27:07.86 I'm just going to divert a little bit, 00:27:07.89\00:27:09.22 how do we make that a habit? 00:27:09.26\00:27:10.59 I mean what would be something I guess just do it over... 00:27:10.63\00:27:12.76 It's a choice. 00:27:12.79\00:27:14.13 So it comes to like in the morning 00:27:14.16\00:27:15.50 when I feel really tired say, "Yes, Lord, I feel tired, 00:27:15.53\00:27:17.33 but praise the Lord, I'm awake." 00:27:17.37\00:27:20.04 Well, I think, you know, scripture comes to my mind, 00:27:20.07\00:27:22.27 and I can't specifically remember, you guys might know, 00:27:22.30\00:27:24.81 Paul writes in the Book of 1 Corinthians, 00:27:24.84\00:27:27.28 maybe 2 Corinthians, but he writes in the book, 00:27:27.31\00:27:29.74 you know, he talks about how that when temptation comes, 00:27:29.78\00:27:33.11 God provides the Holy Spirit there as a way of escape. 00:27:33.15\00:27:37.22 In other words, we won't be... 00:27:37.25\00:27:38.59 He says that we will not be tempted past what we can bear. 00:27:38.62\00:27:41.49 So I would say that a bad habit, 00:27:41.52\00:27:43.26 as it has become a habit, as he said, it is a choice, 00:27:43.29\00:27:46.43 we have to, in those moments, make the choice to say, 00:27:46.46\00:27:49.63 "Lord, I need to be rescued 00:27:49.66\00:27:51.10 from making the choice of this bad habit. 00:27:51.13\00:27:53.84 Lord, help me every moment to make the better choice, 00:27:53.87\00:27:58.31 to create a better habit." 00:27:58.34\00:27:59.67 I guess in those moments, as it is a choice, 00:27:59.71\00:28:01.54 we need to pray for the right choice, 00:28:01.58\00:28:03.31 the strength to make the right choice. 00:28:03.35\00:28:04.68 That's good. Amen. 00:28:04.71\00:28:06.05 I think they say that it takes like 21 days 00:28:06.08\00:28:07.68 to form a habit or change it or something like that. 00:28:07.72\00:28:11.55 So you need to be consistent... 00:28:11.59\00:28:15.42 And it's 21 days. 00:28:15.46\00:28:16.79 I've heard about how you lay out your clothes 00:28:16.83\00:28:19.13 before you go to bed, you know, 00:28:19.16\00:28:20.80 what you're going to wear or have some kind of a plan 00:28:20.83\00:28:22.80 of what you're going to be doing the next morning. 00:28:22.83\00:28:24.80 I think it's... 00:28:24.83\00:28:26.40 Praise is premeditated in my mind as well 00:28:26.43\00:28:29.70 that I'm determined. 00:28:29.74\00:28:31.81 In the morning when I rise, 00:28:31.84\00:28:33.17 I'm going to wake up praising the Lord. 00:28:33.21\00:28:35.84 And don't be surprised if there's every opportunity 00:28:35.88\00:28:39.85 not to, you know, like you stub your toe 00:28:39.88\00:28:41.85 on the end of the bed or toast is burnt or... 00:28:41.88\00:28:44.62 You missed your alarm. You missed your alarm, yeah. 00:28:44.65\00:28:47.12 But, you know, 00:28:47.16\00:28:48.49 even in the light of those things. 00:28:48.52\00:28:50.73 Good night, those are passing. 00:28:50.76\00:28:52.96 And so, you know, the toe will heal, 00:28:52.99\00:28:54.66 the bread just scrape up that little char 00:28:54.70\00:28:57.17 might be good on toast, you never know. 00:28:57.20\00:28:59.40 And alarm, you may have dreamed a better dream than, you know, 00:28:59.43\00:29:02.80 since you slept through the alarm. 00:29:02.84\00:29:04.24 Just praise the Lord, why not? Amen. 00:29:04.27\00:29:06.91 And don't you think you can ask God, 00:29:06.94\00:29:08.94 you know, because I mean, 00:29:08.98\00:29:10.31 I know, I've done that, saying, "Okay, God, 00:29:10.35\00:29:11.71 remind me when I need to praise You more, 00:29:11.75\00:29:14.58 or remind me when I'm in the middle of a fog, 00:29:14.62\00:29:17.05 or a situation 00:29:17.09\00:29:18.42 where I should be praising it this time, you know." 00:29:18.45\00:29:20.72 And God can tap us on the shoulder. 00:29:20.76\00:29:22.22 Remember, you're supposed to be, 00:29:22.26\00:29:23.83 you know, praising that way or something. 00:29:23.86\00:29:25.19 And if he doesn't, 00:29:25.23\00:29:26.56 maybe a spouse or a friend will. 00:29:26.59\00:29:28.50 'Cause nobody likes to be around somebody grumpy. 00:29:28.53\00:29:31.67 Yeah, that's true. To not praise. 00:29:31.70\00:29:34.80 You know, I think like stress, right? 00:29:34.84\00:29:38.01 If you're stressing about everything, you know, 00:29:38.04\00:29:40.18 it's a good time to just praise the Lord 00:29:40.21\00:29:41.94 because stress can kill you, but praise can't kill you. 00:29:41.98\00:29:45.48 You're not going to die from praise. 00:29:45.51\00:29:47.45 You're not going to die from praise. 00:29:47.48\00:29:48.82 I like the way to go. 00:29:48.85\00:29:50.29 But stress, stress can take you out. 00:29:50.32\00:29:52.52 Yeah, it's true. That's a good point. 00:29:52.55\00:29:54.16 Let's look at Hebrews 13. 00:29:54.19\00:29:55.79 Amen. All right. 00:29:55.82\00:29:57.16 Hebrews 13:15, it talks about sacrifice of praise. 00:29:57.19\00:29:58.76 Keep your thumb, finger in Psalm 103. 00:29:58.79\00:30:01.53 Hebrews 13:15, 00:30:04.80\00:30:08.44 someone have that, want to read? 00:30:08.47\00:30:09.80 Yes. 00:30:09.84\00:30:11.41 "Therefore by Him let us continually offer 00:30:11.44\00:30:14.28 the sacrifice of praise to God, that is, the fruit of our lips, 00:30:14.31\00:30:18.05 giving thanks to His name." 00:30:18.08\00:30:20.18 So what do you think it means the sacrifice of praise? 00:30:20.22\00:30:23.59 Does that mean that praise is a sacrifice for God 00:30:23.62\00:30:26.52 as in a sweet smelling savor as Greg talked about before, 00:30:26.55\00:30:30.13 or does that mean praise is a sacrifice on my part 00:30:30.16\00:30:33.73 in order to offer, or does it mean something else entirely? 00:30:33.76\00:30:38.37 Any thoughts? 00:30:38.40\00:30:39.73 You are asking some deep questions. 00:30:39.77\00:30:41.27 I believe it is a sacrifice to God, it's not a sacrifice, 00:30:41.30\00:30:45.57 it's no sacrifice for us to do it, 00:30:45.61\00:30:48.01 I mean, if we look at it, right? 00:30:48.04\00:30:49.38 But certainly, I think it is a... 00:30:49.41\00:30:51.41 I see it as something God expects. 00:30:51.45\00:30:53.31 But go ahead. 00:30:53.35\00:30:54.68 I think the explanation's right there in the verse. 00:30:54.72\00:30:56.45 I mean it says, "Therefore let's go forward..." 00:30:56.48\00:30:59.49 Excuse me, verse 15, 00:30:59.52\00:31:00.86 "Therefore by Him let us continually offer 00:31:00.89\00:31:03.32 the sacrifice of praise to God," 00:31:03.36\00:31:04.86 and then it says, "that is, the fruit of our lips, 00:31:04.89\00:31:07.83 giving thanks to His name." 00:31:07.86\00:31:10.27 In other words, you know, 00:31:10.30\00:31:11.63 God wants us to constantly be in a perpetual state of... 00:31:11.67\00:31:15.77 Go back to perpetual means almost habitual, 00:31:15.80\00:31:18.41 a continual praise, you know, 00:31:18.44\00:31:21.28 constant state of praise, praising Him in other words. 00:31:21.31\00:31:23.41 I love the beginning, notice the beginning though. 00:31:23.45\00:31:25.85 The beginning of that verse in verse 15. 00:31:25.88\00:31:27.45 This is the part that I just usually would read right over, 00:31:27.48\00:31:30.02 but notice what it says, "Therefore by Him..." 00:31:30.05\00:31:33.05 Oh. That's good. 00:31:33.09\00:31:34.42 That's a good catch. That is a good catch. 00:31:34.46\00:31:35.79 "Therefore by Him let us continually offer our lips." 00:31:35.82\00:31:39.26 What does that mean? 00:31:39.29\00:31:40.63 He's the one who does it. 00:31:40.66\00:31:42.00 Yeah. Yeah. 00:31:42.03\00:31:43.37 I mean, do we really have it within us, 00:31:43.40\00:31:45.33 in and within ourselves to change ourselves 00:31:45.37\00:31:48.44 to create those habits. 00:31:48.47\00:31:50.11 And so, no, we don't, I mean, 00:31:50.14\00:31:51.54 so I have to completely depend upon Him 00:31:51.57\00:31:55.04 to help me praise Him. 00:31:55.08\00:31:57.05 That's powerful. 00:31:57.08\00:31:58.41 That is, actually, that's a good catch there, 00:31:58.45\00:31:59.78 yeah, by Him. 00:31:59.81\00:32:01.15 Yeah, absolutely. That's just... 00:32:01.18\00:32:02.52 It's incredible. 00:32:02.55\00:32:03.89 I like Romans 12:1 says, 00:32:03.92\00:32:06.19 "I beseech you brethren by the mercies of God, 00:32:06.22\00:32:07.86 that you present your bodies," what does it say? 00:32:07.89\00:32:09.39 "A living sacrifice." 00:32:09.42\00:32:11.23 So what is that? 00:32:11.26\00:32:12.59 That is an offering to God, 00:32:12.63\00:32:14.36 and so I always tie those two in for some reason. 00:32:14.40\00:32:16.83 So the living sacrifice, 00:32:16.87\00:32:18.83 we're to present ourselves before God 00:32:18.87\00:32:20.40 as a living sacrifice, and in addition, 00:32:20.44\00:32:22.87 we present the sacrifice of praise, 00:32:22.90\00:32:24.91 and we bring that before Him. 00:32:24.94\00:32:26.27 Absolutely. Absolutely. 00:32:26.31\00:32:28.28 Amen. 00:32:28.31\00:32:29.64 Well, a lot of stuff. Isn't the Bible fun? 00:32:29.68\00:32:31.01 It is. 00:32:31.05\00:32:32.38 You just open your Bible 00:32:32.41\00:32:33.75 and there are so many treasures. 00:32:33.78\00:32:35.12 Yeah, you're highlighting away. 00:32:35.15\00:32:36.48 That's good that you're highlighting. 00:32:36.52\00:32:37.85 So this is Bible study. That's right. 00:32:37.89\00:32:39.22 When we get to these verses, you start reading something, 00:32:39.25\00:32:41.56 I'm like, "I've heard that before but I need to highlight. 00:32:41.59\00:32:44.89 And that's highlighted in my Bible. 00:32:44.93\00:32:46.96 But the Bible's exciting too, 00:32:47.00\00:32:48.90 because just like Ryan pointed out, 00:32:48.93\00:32:52.87 you know, you pay attention to every word, 00:32:52.90\00:32:55.37 you know, one word can make the world of difference 00:32:55.40\00:32:58.77 in a passage and you learn something new. 00:32:58.81\00:33:02.94 It doesn't matter how many times 00:33:02.98\00:33:04.31 you've read through the Bible, 00:33:04.35\00:33:05.68 God will always reveal something to you 00:33:05.71\00:33:08.08 if you ask Him, 00:33:08.12\00:33:09.45 and if you ask for the guidance of the Holy Spirit. 00:33:09.48\00:33:11.59 Absolutely. 00:33:11.62\00:33:12.95 You know, and I praise God for the word, 00:33:12.99\00:33:17.13 you know, what is that the psalmist, 00:33:17.16\00:33:18.49 we're speaking about the psalmist here, 00:33:18.53\00:33:20.23 which I'm sure we're going to read a lot of text 00:33:20.26\00:33:22.03 with the remaining time we have from the Book of Psalms. 00:33:22.06\00:33:23.80 But, you know, I think 00:33:23.83\00:33:25.77 it was the Psalmist David that wrote, you know, 00:33:25.80\00:33:28.17 "Let me hide Your word within me that I may not sin." 00:33:28.20\00:33:33.48 I praise God for the Word, 00:33:33.51\00:33:35.51 and, you know, just like you mentioned, 00:33:35.54\00:33:37.45 sometimes we may read a passage 00:33:37.48\00:33:39.25 and we may think that we have it memorized, 00:33:39.28\00:33:42.15 or we get the concept I don't need to read that again 00:33:42.18\00:33:44.22 but there's passages I've read over and over and over and over 00:33:44.25\00:33:46.82 and I go back and I'll read that verse again 00:33:46.86\00:33:48.76 thinking that I already really knew it 00:33:48.79\00:33:50.83 when really there was something there that, 00:33:50.86\00:33:52.49 you know, my human eyes just overlook. 00:33:52.53\00:33:55.53 And I praise God for the Word because 00:33:55.56\00:33:58.53 the Word draws me closer to Him. 00:33:58.57\00:34:00.24 The Word helps me to see my need to praise Him 00:34:00.27\00:34:03.81 because He is worthy. 00:34:03.84\00:34:05.17 Amen. Absolutely. 00:34:05.21\00:34:06.54 And the Word is Jesus, in the beginning was the Word, 00:34:06.57\00:34:07.91 and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. 00:34:07.94\00:34:09.54 So I mean, we hear the Word of God, 00:34:09.58\00:34:12.45 and this is the Word of God, but it's also Jesus. 00:34:12.48\00:34:14.82 I don't even begin to know how that works 00:34:14.85\00:34:17.19 but the words of Him and His character is inherent. 00:34:17.22\00:34:21.39 Not him literally, I don't mean that. 00:34:21.42\00:34:22.89 But His character inherent, I mean what a powerful thing. 00:34:22.92\00:34:27.20 The Word of God is life changing. 00:34:27.23\00:34:28.90 Yes, it is. Yeah. 00:34:28.93\00:34:30.27 You know, I've heard people say that the Bible B-I-B-L-E 00:34:30.30\00:34:34.14 basic instructions before leaving early. 00:34:34.17\00:34:36.44 Like why wouldn't I want to read the Bible, 00:34:36.47\00:34:39.11 when it's been inspired... 00:34:39.14\00:34:40.48 It's the Word of God. 00:34:40.51\00:34:42.18 He knows the end from the beginning, 00:34:42.21\00:34:43.88 why wouldn't I want to. 00:34:43.91\00:34:45.25 That's like when you were in school, 00:34:45.28\00:34:47.78 and I don't recommend this. 00:34:47.82\00:34:50.22 Feel like when you're in the school... 00:34:50.25\00:34:51.59 A little disclaimer right there. 00:34:51.62\00:34:52.95 Yeah, disclaimer, and they had CliffsNotes. 00:34:52.99\00:34:55.76 All right. And you can get to the... 00:34:55.79\00:34:57.49 You can get to the point with a book. 00:34:57.53\00:35:00.86 I can avoid so many pitfalls if I just follow 00:35:00.90\00:35:03.73 what the Word of God say, I'd recommend, 00:35:03.77\00:35:07.34 but I don't recommend, you know, the CliffsNotes part. 00:35:07.37\00:35:09.44 Okay. Absolutely. 00:35:09.47\00:35:11.91 You know, it's hard. 00:35:11.94\00:35:14.94 It's not always easy to praise God. 00:35:14.98\00:35:16.31 That's right. 00:35:16.34\00:35:17.68 For instance, what about the people who are suffering, 00:35:17.71\00:35:20.92 the people who are dealing with trials. 00:35:20.95\00:35:23.55 Over the years in ministry, 00:35:23.59\00:35:25.15 I've had opportunity to talk with people, 00:35:25.19\00:35:26.96 and visitation, and counseling. 00:35:26.99\00:35:28.92 And, you know, you want to encourage people. 00:35:28.96\00:35:30.79 You know, give God the praise. 00:35:30.83\00:35:32.33 And it's like, well, it's hard, you know, 00:35:32.36\00:35:33.70 hurt people to tell me, you know, 00:35:33.73\00:35:35.06 it's hard for me to praise God when I'm suffering 00:35:35.10\00:35:37.70 and that is truly a dilemma, but, you know, 00:35:37.73\00:35:40.14 I want to share some scripture here 00:35:40.17\00:35:41.50 because this a scripture that often we kind of overlook 00:35:41.54\00:35:43.91 at times or what we know of it, 00:35:43.94\00:35:45.27 but it's not really read that much. 00:35:45.31\00:35:47.21 But I love... 00:35:47.24\00:35:48.58 This is found in the Book of James. 00:35:48.61\00:35:49.94 If you have your Bibles, turn in James Chapter 1, 00:35:49.98\00:35:52.21 and then we're going to read a text from James Chapter 5. 00:35:52.25\00:35:55.05 There's an entire sermon, 00:35:55.08\00:35:56.72 there's an entire study that could be done 00:35:56.75\00:35:58.55 just on this one point. 00:35:58.59\00:36:00.02 But still kind of connected to giving God praise 00:36:00.06\00:36:02.96 in moments where you may not even think 00:36:02.99\00:36:05.56 that you can praise God, but God says you can. 00:36:05.59\00:36:07.90 Notice, James 1:2-4. 00:36:07.93\00:36:11.53 It says, "My brethren, count it all joy 00:36:11.57\00:36:14.90 when you fall into various trials, 00:36:14.94\00:36:17.47 knowing that the testing of your faith 00:36:17.51\00:36:19.74 produces patience. 00:36:19.77\00:36:22.04 But let patience have its perfect work, 00:36:22.08\00:36:24.78 that you may be perfect and complete, lacking nothing." 00:36:24.81\00:36:28.35 It's like, "Lord, I want to praise You, 00:36:28.38\00:36:29.75 but it's hard for me to praise You 00:36:29.78\00:36:31.65 through this trial I'm going through." 00:36:31.69\00:36:33.29 And James writes, you know what? 00:36:33.32\00:36:34.66 "That trial... 00:36:34.69\00:36:36.02 You should kind of enjoy that the trial's there. 00:36:36.06\00:36:37.69 We should be praising God that 00:36:37.73\00:36:39.06 that trial was sending you away, 00:36:39.09\00:36:40.43 because in some way, form or fashion, 00:36:40.46\00:36:41.80 God has sent that trial or allowed that trial 00:36:41.83\00:36:44.17 to happen to build character, to draw you closer to Him. 00:36:44.20\00:36:47.84 Sometimes it's through the trials 00:36:47.87\00:36:49.64 or having to walk through the flood 00:36:49.67\00:36:51.51 or endure the fire 00:36:51.54\00:36:53.17 that we sense our need of Him, 00:36:53.21\00:36:55.34 we sense our need to give Him praise, you know. 00:36:55.38\00:36:59.81 And I love James. 00:36:59.85\00:37:01.32 Try to tie to this James 5:13. It's a question. 00:37:01.35\00:37:04.92 "Is anyone among you suffering? 00:37:04.95\00:37:07.72 Let him pray. 00:37:07.76\00:37:09.19 Is anyone cheerful? 00:37:09.22\00:37:11.09 Let him sing psalms." 00:37:11.13\00:37:13.53 So, you know, if we're walking through those trials, 00:37:13.56\00:37:15.96 we still have something to praise Him for, 00:37:16.00\00:37:17.50 but, you know, God says, "Pray to Me. 00:37:17.53\00:37:19.33 you know, talk to Me, I want to hear you." 00:37:19.37\00:37:21.30 But if you're cheerful, sing me a praise for Him. 00:37:21.34\00:37:25.24 And so that's just... It's powerful. 00:37:25.27\00:37:27.08 And I appreciate the Word for that. 00:37:27.11\00:37:28.54 Amen. 00:37:28.58\00:37:29.91 This is interesting too, 00:37:29.94\00:37:31.28 backing up just a little bit in James 5, 00:37:31.31\00:37:33.52 there's a quite a bit said here. 00:37:33.55\00:37:34.88 We can just start with verse 10, 00:37:34.92\00:37:36.25 James 5:10 says, 00:37:36.28\00:37:37.62 "Take my brother in the prophets, 00:37:37.65\00:37:39.25 who have spoken in the name of the Lord 00:37:39.29\00:37:40.96 for an example of suffering, affliction, and of patience. 00:37:40.99\00:37:44.33 Behold we count them happy which endure, 00:37:44.36\00:37:47.40 you have heard of the patience of Job 00:37:47.43\00:37:49.20 and have seen the end of the Lord 00:37:49.23\00:37:50.87 that the Lord is very pitiful and of tender mercy." 00:37:50.90\00:37:53.47 I don't know, Tim, 00:37:53.50\00:37:54.84 how does it state in the Amplified 00:37:54.87\00:37:56.20 that I haven't looked it up. 00:37:56.24\00:37:57.57 Yeah, the verse 10 says, "As an example of suffering 00:37:57.61\00:37:59.31 and ill treatment together with patience, 00:37:59.34\00:38:01.48 brethren, take the prophets 00:38:01.51\00:38:02.88 who spoke in the name of the Lord 00:38:02.91\00:38:04.28 as His messengers. 00:38:04.31\00:38:05.65 Eleven, you know how we call those blessed happy, 00:38:05.68\00:38:08.72 who are steadfast, who endured, 00:38:08.75\00:38:10.62 you have heard of the endurance of Job, 00:38:10.65\00:38:12.65 you've seen the Lord's purpose, 00:38:12.69\00:38:14.26 and how He richly blessed him in the end 00:38:14.29\00:38:15.92 and as much as the Lord is full of pity, 00:38:15.96\00:38:18.33 and compassion, and tenderness, and mercy." 00:38:18.36\00:38:20.76 We have the advantage of... 00:38:20.80\00:38:23.16 As we read the Bible, knowing how the story end. 00:38:23.20\00:38:26.53 But for those 00:38:26.57\00:38:27.90 who were going through the situation at the time, 00:38:27.94\00:38:32.51 as people are today going through situations, 00:38:32.54\00:38:34.71 they don't see the end. 00:38:34.74\00:38:36.08 And you, know, we can't. 00:38:36.11\00:38:37.45 We can't, in fact, back in Psalm 103 that says, 00:38:37.48\00:38:42.12 "Who forgives all our diseases." 00:38:42.15\00:38:43.99 That's one with that, when you mentioned, 00:38:44.02\00:38:47.26 the study of that word, 00:38:47.29\00:38:48.86 how it doesn't necessarily mean physical diseases 00:38:48.89\00:38:51.13 because as I have read that, I've thought, 00:38:51.16\00:38:53.13 you know, I don't know that I would want to read that 00:38:53.16\00:38:55.26 to a friend who is in a disease, 00:38:55.30\00:38:57.10 who has a certain disease, 00:38:57.13\00:38:58.47 who is going through an ailment right now 00:38:58.50\00:38:59.87 that it seems like this is never going to end 00:38:59.90\00:39:02.37 because, "Well, where's my benefit 00:39:02.40\00:39:05.61 for healing of that disease?" 00:39:05.64\00:39:07.34 But when we know that God has... 00:39:07.38\00:39:11.91 Well, I mean, it's a point under man wants to die. 00:39:11.95\00:39:14.75 So everyone goes through something 00:39:14.78\00:39:17.22 that will eventually lead them to death. 00:39:17.25\00:39:19.62 But the bottom line is I think it goes back to that 00:39:19.65\00:39:23.96 just drawing close to God 00:39:23.99\00:39:26.13 and knowing that He loves us so much. 00:39:26.16\00:39:27.86 And as we praise Him, 00:39:27.90\00:39:29.76 our eyes get off of our circumstance, 00:39:29.80\00:39:32.97 and they get on to who He is strictly again 00:39:33.00\00:39:36.14 because He is worthy of praise. 00:39:36.17\00:39:37.74 And I don't think people, the unbeliever has no way 00:39:37.77\00:39:42.08 of really understanding that until you truly... 00:39:42.11\00:39:45.81 And I tell you this is the bottom line for me 00:39:45.85\00:39:48.68 with anything that I ever encounter. 00:39:48.72\00:39:51.89 If you fall in love with Jesus so much, 00:39:51.92\00:39:55.12 all, everything else falls away, 00:39:55.16\00:39:57.59 and truly it just becomes about loving Him 00:39:57.63\00:40:01.13 because He is so precious. 00:40:01.16\00:40:03.06 And that's what praise is about. 00:40:03.10\00:40:04.93 Yeah, it's a beautiful thing, and it's... 00:40:04.97\00:40:08.30 I just want to make that my life. 00:40:08.34\00:40:09.67 And I don't. 00:40:09.70\00:40:11.04 And this is not as negative, 00:40:11.07\00:40:12.41 but it simplifies it, doesn't it? 00:40:12.44\00:40:13.78 It really does. 00:40:13.81\00:40:15.14 I mean that's just totally... 00:40:15.18\00:40:16.51 Yeah, love Jesus, it's a relationship we build 00:40:16.54\00:40:18.01 with Jesus Christ. 00:40:18.05\00:40:19.65 And in the complexity sometimes of the life, and the trials, 00:40:19.68\00:40:22.22 and all the stuff, they just melt away. 00:40:22.25\00:40:25.25 Good, Tim. No, you go ahead, Jill. 00:40:25.29\00:40:26.62 No, you go ahead, Jay. 00:40:26.65\00:40:27.99 Then you might, you know, people might think, 00:40:28.02\00:40:29.36 "Well, how do I build a relationship with Christ?" 00:40:29.39\00:40:31.89 You know, how do I build... 00:40:31.93\00:40:33.26 Well, how do you build a relationship with anybody? 00:40:33.29\00:40:35.33 You have to spend time, you have to spend that quality 00:40:35.36\00:40:38.27 one-on-one time, you know, 00:40:38.30\00:40:39.63 the Bible says somewhere in Psalms, 00:40:39.67\00:40:41.17 I forgot where. 00:40:41.20\00:40:42.64 "O taste and see that the Lord is good." 00:40:42.67\00:40:44.77 Psalm 34. There we go. 00:40:44.81\00:40:47.18 And I mean, just like if I have an apple 00:40:47.21\00:40:50.18 and I take a bite into this juicy, 00:40:50.21\00:40:54.15 crisp apple, right? 00:40:54.18\00:40:56.92 Tim at the other end of the table 00:40:56.95\00:40:58.75 he's not going to be able to taste 00:40:58.79\00:41:00.82 how good that apple is. 00:41:00.86\00:41:02.52 What's he going to have to do? 00:41:02.56\00:41:03.89 He's going to have to grab an apple for himself, 00:41:03.93\00:41:05.69 not my apple, but he's going to grab an apple. 00:41:05.73\00:41:08.50 You know because that's just Jay. 00:41:08.53\00:41:12.93 But then he's got to grab that apple, 00:41:12.97\00:41:15.04 he's got to take a bite out of that apple himself 00:41:15.07\00:41:18.07 to taste and see that it's good. 00:41:18.11\00:41:19.57 And that's what the Lord calls us to do 00:41:19.61\00:41:21.01 is to open His Word for ourselves, 00:41:21.04\00:41:23.95 and to find out that He's good 00:41:23.98\00:41:25.31 because character is not transferable. 00:41:25.35\00:41:27.62 And just because my mom or my great grandma 00:41:27.65\00:41:30.75 or whoever has a relationship with Christ 00:41:30.79\00:41:34.09 that relationship doesn't transfer to me. 00:41:34.12\00:41:37.76 They can't save me, only God can. 00:41:37.79\00:41:40.70 And so to build that relationship, 00:41:40.73\00:41:43.43 you have to spend time with God. 00:41:43.47\00:41:46.03 And how awesome is that the creator of the universe 00:41:46.07\00:41:50.04 wants to spend time with us. 00:41:50.07\00:41:52.71 Who are we? 00:41:52.74\00:41:54.08 Who are we? Amen. 00:41:54.11\00:41:55.51 Praise the Lord for that. 00:41:55.54\00:41:58.48 And all comments. Praise. 00:41:58.51\00:42:00.52 It's the truth. Right. 00:42:00.55\00:42:01.98 I just wanted to go back to suffering, 00:42:02.02\00:42:03.39 you talked about that, Tim, for just a moment, you know, 00:42:03.42\00:42:06.22 we say do Christians suffer? 00:42:06.25\00:42:07.86 Yes, they do. Absolutely. 00:42:07.89\00:42:10.33 Do non-Christian suffer? Yes. 00:42:10.36\00:42:12.29 Absolutely, so this world is full of tribulation 00:42:12.33\00:42:16.33 just because of the nature of sin 00:42:16.36\00:42:17.90 because of the nature of the world that we live in, 00:42:17.93\00:42:20.20 but I would much rather experience it with Jesus. 00:42:20.24\00:42:23.87 You know, to be able to learn to praise in the midst of that 00:42:23.91\00:42:28.44 because what you said, Tim, is so true. 00:42:28.48\00:42:30.28 Those who don't walk with Jesus, 00:42:30.31\00:42:32.41 those who don't know Him don't experience that peace, 00:42:32.45\00:42:36.08 don't experience that strength. 00:42:36.12\00:42:39.15 And praise actually brings strength, you know, 00:42:39.19\00:42:42.46 I know I have experience in my own life 00:42:42.49\00:42:44.49 when I didn't feel like it 00:42:44.53\00:42:46.86 and I made a mental choice to praise. 00:42:46.90\00:42:50.87 God changed my emotions, God changed my heart. 00:42:50.90\00:42:55.37 Do you think in praise you need to sing? 00:42:55.40\00:42:59.51 How much is music... 00:42:59.54\00:43:02.71 We got musical people here. 00:43:02.74\00:43:04.61 How much is music associated with praise? 00:43:04.65\00:43:06.92 Oh, man, story of my life, 00:43:06.95\00:43:11.39 every single day, 00:43:11.42\00:43:13.59 if there's not any other way 00:43:13.62\00:43:14.96 that that I can praise the Lord, 00:43:14.99\00:43:17.43 it's for sure through song, not just because, 00:43:17.46\00:43:21.10 you know, God has blessed me with a gift of singing 00:43:21.13\00:43:23.60 but, you know, 00:43:23.63\00:43:27.97 music is a language. 00:43:28.00\00:43:30.74 And through music, 00:43:30.77\00:43:32.27 and through powerful lyrics of songs, 00:43:32.31\00:43:34.18 and hymns, and worship songs, you know, 00:43:34.21\00:43:36.71 you can express your thanks, and your praise, 00:43:36.75\00:43:39.21 your gratitude to the Lord. 00:43:39.25\00:43:40.72 And there's not a day of my life, 00:43:40.75\00:43:42.38 and this isn't boasting, 00:43:42.42\00:43:43.75 this is just simply, if it is boasting, 00:43:43.79\00:43:45.12 it's boasting in the Lord as Paul would say, 00:43:45.15\00:43:48.02 "I lift up my singing voice every single day for Him." 00:43:48.06\00:43:54.00 And I think that that's vitally important for us to do. 00:43:54.03\00:43:57.63 You don't have to be a Pavarotti, 00:43:57.67\00:43:59.47 or you don't have to be a Tim Parton 00:43:59.50\00:44:01.34 to be able to lift up your gifts, your voice, 00:44:01.37\00:44:05.34 your instrument of praise for the Lord. 00:44:05.37\00:44:08.78 You should do it as we've already established 00:44:08.81\00:44:10.98 because He is worthy. 00:44:11.01\00:44:12.35 Amen. 00:44:12.38\00:44:13.72 And, you know, I've heard people that I would say, 00:44:13.75\00:44:17.15 "Ah, you know, that person can't sing, 00:44:17.19\00:44:19.05 they should never sing." 00:44:19.09\00:44:20.42 Is that so? 00:44:20.46\00:44:21.79 You know, you see it in your human nature, 00:44:21.82\00:44:23.16 you hear, sometimes hear that, 00:44:23.19\00:44:24.53 "Oh, please, hope that person never sings again." 00:44:24.56\00:44:26.43 That's the hobo thing to think of, 00:44:26.46\00:44:28.50 that's hobo thing to say. 00:44:28.53\00:44:29.90 You know, but truthfully you know, 00:44:29.93\00:44:31.73 what is God hearing from that voice? 00:44:31.77\00:44:34.04 We may hear this horrible wretched sound 00:44:34.07\00:44:36.84 of someone hitting wrong notes on an instrument or singing, 00:44:36.87\00:44:40.31 but, you know, what is God hearing? 00:44:40.34\00:44:41.84 We don't know that. 00:44:41.88\00:44:43.21 God, and heaven's probably rejoicing 00:44:43.24\00:44:45.01 because that person is uplifting their voice 00:44:45.05\00:44:47.88 in praise to God. 00:44:47.92\00:44:49.48 And I praise God for music. 00:44:49.52\00:44:52.75 I don't know where I would be without music, 00:44:52.79\00:44:54.26 I think Tim could attest to this 00:44:54.29\00:44:55.62 probably even more than myself. 00:44:55.66\00:44:57.29 You wouldn't be here. 00:44:57.33\00:44:58.66 I wouldn't be here, that's right. 00:44:58.69\00:45:00.03 That's the truth. 00:45:03.33\00:45:04.67 But I know that throughout the Bible 00:45:04.70\00:45:06.03 there are several examples of where praise was a song, 00:45:06.07\00:45:09.00 you know, Miriam, 00:45:09.04\00:45:10.81 as soon as they cross the Red Sea, 00:45:10.84\00:45:12.41 she grabbed her tambourine 00:45:12.44\00:45:14.64 and started dancing and singing, 00:45:14.68\00:45:16.91 and the song is written in scripture. 00:45:16.95\00:45:19.18 Paul and Silas in the New Testament, 00:45:19.21\00:45:21.18 at the midnight and in jail they were singing praise, 00:45:21.22\00:45:24.19 and it unlocked the door. 00:45:24.22\00:45:25.55 So praise is... 00:45:25.59\00:45:27.52 It can be a song. 00:45:27.56\00:45:29.16 There are some wonderful worship songs 00:45:29.19\00:45:31.99 that our scripture put to song. 00:45:32.03\00:45:35.10 And so the praise of that of singing those verses 00:45:35.13\00:45:40.74 and scripture verses back to God, 00:45:40.77\00:45:43.71 it doesn't matter about... 00:45:43.74\00:45:46.31 Style in my opinion or quality, 00:45:46.34\00:45:49.34 if you are singing to God, 00:45:49.38\00:45:51.71 praising God from your heart, let it rip tear the chip. 00:45:51.75\00:45:55.58 So that's what I say. 00:45:55.62\00:45:58.09 You know, I think also about David and Saul. 00:45:58.12\00:46:01.62 Remember he was there to quiet his spirit. 00:46:01.66\00:46:03.63 So music there again tells you the power of music 00:46:03.66\00:46:06.26 as he was there playing the music there 00:46:06.29\00:46:08.40 in his throne room. 00:46:08.43\00:46:10.60 Psalm 104:33. 00:46:10.63\00:46:12.43 Let's read it. Right. 00:46:12.47\00:46:13.84 Beautiful, take us to a couple of psalms here. 00:46:13.87\00:46:17.71 Psalm 104:33 which says, 00:46:17.74\00:46:19.94 "I will sing to the Lord as long as I live," 00:46:19.97\00:46:23.98 that's awesome, "I will sing praise to my God 00:46:24.01\00:46:27.15 while I have my being." 00:46:27.18\00:46:29.45 You know, as long as we draw the breath of life, 00:46:29.48\00:46:31.42 we can always sing praises to God. 00:46:31.45\00:46:33.99 Another passage that comes to my mind, kind of, you know, 00:46:34.02\00:46:37.06 on that same, you know, praise and worship theme. 00:46:37.09\00:46:40.00 I love Psalm 95:1-7, it says, 00:46:40.03\00:46:43.03 "Oh come, let us sing to the Lord!" 00:46:43.06\00:46:47.94 It says, "Let us shout joyfully to the rock of our salvation. 00:46:47.97\00:46:52.11 Let us shout joyfully to Him with psalms. 00:46:52.14\00:46:56.41 For the Lord is the great God, 00:46:56.44\00:46:58.41 and the great king above all gods. 00:46:58.45\00:47:00.62 In His hand are the deep places of the earth, 00:47:00.65\00:47:03.12 the heights of the hills are His also." 00:47:03.15\00:47:05.82 But I like how this starts with, you know, 00:47:05.85\00:47:07.49 "Let us sing to the Lord." 00:47:07.52\00:47:08.86 Someone is there singing these words, 00:47:08.89\00:47:10.23 I can imagine David singing these words. 00:47:10.26\00:47:12.23 It goes on to say, 00:47:12.26\00:47:13.60 "The heights of the hills are His also, 00:47:13.63\00:47:15.26 the sea is His, for He made it," 00:47:15.30\00:47:17.77 which is going through, and he just... 00:47:17.80\00:47:19.37 I could just imagine him singing 00:47:19.40\00:47:20.97 these words to the Lord, 00:47:21.00\00:47:22.34 and I love the last verse, you know, verse 7, 00:47:22.37\00:47:24.21 I just want to highlight this one. 00:47:24.24\00:47:25.57 It says, "For He is our God." 00:47:25.61\00:47:28.08 You know, he could have stopped it right there, just end, 00:47:28.11\00:47:30.61 you know, drop the mic as Tim would say, 00:47:30.65\00:47:32.18 just be right there. 00:47:32.21\00:47:33.55 He's worthy, He is our God. 00:47:33.58\00:47:35.28 It says, "And we are the people of His pasture, 00:47:35.32\00:47:38.32 and the sheep of His hand today if you will hear His voice." 00:47:38.35\00:47:42.39 I love that. It's powerful. 00:47:42.42\00:47:44.49 We got to read the next verse. 00:47:44.53\00:47:45.93 "Today, if you will hear His voice, 00:47:45.96\00:47:47.46 'Do not harden your hearts, as in the rebellion, 00:47:47.50\00:47:50.13 as in the day of trial in the wilderness.'" 00:47:50.17\00:47:51.70 So, you know, that call is to make a choice for Jesus. 00:47:51.73\00:47:56.91 You know, we just... 00:47:56.94\00:47:58.27 I never want to take and pass an opportunity 00:47:58.31\00:48:01.74 to extend a call to you at home to make a choice, 00:48:01.78\00:48:04.18 to accept the Lord Jesus Christ. 00:48:04.21\00:48:06.38 He made you, He redeemed you, 00:48:06.41\00:48:08.92 and He wants you to be His child. 00:48:08.95\00:48:11.82 So just today, say, "Lord Jesus, 00:48:11.85\00:48:13.66 I know I've messed up, 00:48:13.69\00:48:15.02 and I know I've done a lot of things wrong, 00:48:15.06\00:48:17.39 will You forgive me? 00:48:17.43\00:48:18.76 Will You accept me right now?" 00:48:18.79\00:48:21.13 And you know what? He will do that. 00:48:21.16\00:48:23.60 His word is faithful and true. 00:48:23.63\00:48:25.50 And He stands back of all His promises 00:48:25.53\00:48:28.00 that He has made. 00:48:28.04\00:48:30.11 You know, haven't had time to actually research this 00:48:30.14\00:48:31.67 or maybe you'll help me on this, 00:48:31.71\00:48:33.17 but you mentioned sheep for the shepherd. 00:48:33.21\00:48:36.75 Don't shepherds, didn't they sing to the sheep, 00:48:36.78\00:48:39.08 have you ever heard that? 00:48:39.11\00:48:40.45 I may have just concocted that in my head right now, 00:48:40.48\00:48:43.08 but it seems as though 00:48:43.12\00:48:44.45 when we would travel to the holy land, 00:48:44.49\00:48:45.82 they actually mentioned about the actual shepherd 00:48:45.85\00:48:48.06 singing to his sheep. 00:48:48.09\00:48:50.06 And so it's just interesting as I was just thinking about 00:48:50.09\00:48:52.06 us singing to Him. 00:48:52.09\00:48:53.43 I think about Jesus actually, 00:48:53.46\00:48:54.80 can you imagine us being His sheep, 00:48:54.83\00:48:56.53 and Him singing to us 'cause I remember... 00:48:56.56\00:48:58.43 Because I remember, the Bible does say that. 00:48:58.47\00:49:00.04 It does say that. Yeah. 00:49:00.07\00:49:01.64 I remember my dad, who is, 00:49:01.67\00:49:03.47 he's not like a real strong musician, 00:49:03.51\00:49:05.24 but I tell you, when I was sick, 00:49:05.27\00:49:06.81 he would sing to me at night, you know, that's common. 00:49:06.84\00:49:10.11 So I think if our great shepherd, 00:49:10.15\00:49:11.51 you know, just singing to us, 00:49:11.55\00:49:12.88 "It's all right, child, you're good, 00:49:12.91\00:49:14.25 you're good, you're okay." 00:49:14.28\00:49:15.62 And I think also at this time 00:49:15.65\00:49:16.99 your tour holidays can be tough, right? 00:49:17.02\00:49:18.85 You know, people have lost loved ones, 00:49:18.89\00:49:20.26 they are going through terrible times. 00:49:20.29\00:49:21.62 And unfortunately, holidays can be really happy, 00:49:21.66\00:49:23.46 Thanksgiving, Christmas, 00:49:23.49\00:49:24.83 but then else we're really down. 00:49:24.86\00:49:26.80 So we want to encourage you to find something to praise 00:49:26.83\00:49:29.16 the Lord Jesus Christ for what you have. 00:49:29.20\00:49:32.03 I like what Ryan's brought up several times. 00:49:32.07\00:49:34.17 We praise the Lord for who He is. 00:49:34.20\00:49:35.84 So that's something, write that on your list. 00:49:35.87\00:49:37.21 If that's all you've got, that's a powerful one to have. 00:49:37.24\00:49:39.34 We praise Jesus for who He is. 00:49:39.37\00:49:41.28 It's been a great study. Amen. 00:49:41.31\00:49:42.94 By no hurry, any other points before we go to prayer? 00:49:42.98\00:49:44.85 Well, I think that it's important 00:49:44.88\00:49:46.38 also in the church today, 00:49:46.41\00:49:48.58 there are a lot of debate over style. 00:49:48.62\00:49:52.65 I've just mentioned styles of music, 00:49:52.69\00:49:55.16 and just styles of how we worship, 00:49:55.19\00:49:57.33 and praising God. 00:49:57.36\00:50:00.13 And I think that we get lost in all of that, 00:50:00.16\00:50:02.83 and that's just in my opinion the devil 00:50:02.86\00:50:05.63 or us allowing distractions, you know, 00:50:05.67\00:50:08.70 when we need to keep our eye on the prize, 00:50:08.74\00:50:11.64 keep our eye on the fact that, you know, God is worthy, 00:50:11.67\00:50:14.34 and that praise is something that becomes all of us. 00:50:14.38\00:50:17.28 It look so much better than 00:50:17.31\00:50:19.88 non praising or whatever. 00:50:19.91\00:50:23.85 It's... Complaining. 00:50:23.89\00:50:25.22 Yeah, complaining, yeah, right. 00:50:25.25\00:50:26.59 So praise, no matter the style, and just apply the Word of God, 00:50:26.62\00:50:31.39 or memorize these psalms and sing them in your own way, 00:50:31.43\00:50:35.10 sing them in your heart. 00:50:35.13\00:50:36.46 Yeah, you can't go wrong. Thank you very much. 00:50:36.50\00:50:38.33 I want praise to be automatic response. 00:50:38.37\00:50:41.10 My dad in West Virginia would teach me, 00:50:41.14\00:50:42.90 "Son, this is how you get out of a skid. 00:50:42.94\00:50:44.41 In case your car on a snowy road goes into a skid, 00:50:44.44\00:50:46.78 you want to steer into the skid, 00:50:46.81\00:50:48.14 and all this kind of good stuff." 00:50:48.18\00:50:49.51 So we would practice in parking lots 00:50:49.54\00:50:50.98 that were snow and ice covered. 00:50:51.01\00:50:52.35 "All right, son," he say, "get it." 00:50:52.38\00:50:53.72 And then he say, you know, 00:50:53.75\00:50:55.08 "we crank it, and, how, you know, 00:50:55.12\00:50:56.45 try to help me get out of the skid." 00:50:56.48\00:50:57.82 He said the reason we're doing this stuff is 00:50:57.85\00:50:59.19 because you want it to be an automatic response. 00:50:59.22\00:51:00.56 You don't want to be in a skid some day, like, 00:51:00.59\00:51:01.92 "I see, is it this way?
