Yes. 00:05:55.52\00:05:56.85 Once again, Mark 14:1- 4. 00:05:56.89\00:05:59.85 "After two days it was the Passover 00:05:59.89\00:06:02.89 and the Feast of Unleavened Bread. 00:06:02.92\00:06:04.89 And the chief priest and the scribes sought 00:06:04.93\00:06:07.06 how they might take by trickery and put Him to death. 00:06:07.10\00:06:10.03 But they said, 'No, not during the feast, 00:06:10.07\00:06:13.03 lest there be an uproar of the people.' 00:06:13.07\00:06:15.60 And being in Bethany at the house of Simon the leper, 00:06:15.64\00:06:18.41 as he sat at the table, a woman came having 00:06:18.44\00:06:21.04 an alabaster flask of very costly oil of spikenard, 00:06:21.08\00:06:26.05 and then she broke the flask, poured it on His head. 00:06:26.08\00:06:29.32 But there were some who were indignant among themselves 00:06:29.35\00:06:32.42 and says 'Why was this fragrant oil wasted?'" 00:06:32.45\00:06:35.72 All right. Boo, you pick that up. 00:06:35.76\00:06:37.19 Yes. 00:06:37.23\00:06:38.56 "For it might have been sold 00:06:38.59\00:06:40.00 for more than three hundred denarii 00:06:40.03\00:06:42.80 and given to the poor. 00:06:42.83\00:06:44.60 And they criticized her sharply. 00:06:44.63\00:06:47.17 But Jesus said, 'Let her alone, why did you trouble her? 00:06:47.20\00:06:51.97 She has done a good work for me. 00:06:52.01\00:06:54.88 For you have the poor with you always 00:06:54.91\00:06:57.45 and whenever you wish, you may do them good, 00:06:57.48\00:07:00.92 but me, you do not have always. 00:07:00.95\00:07:03.82 She has done what she could. 00:07:03.85\00:07:05.89 She has gone before hand to anoint, My body for burial. 00:07:05.92\00:07:10.83 Assuredly, I say to you, 00:07:10.86\00:07:13.29 wherever this gospel is preached in the whole world, 00:07:13.33\00:07:16.90 what this woman has done 00:07:16.93\00:07:18.83 will also be told as a memorial to her.'" 00:07:18.87\00:07:22.40 Very good. So that's Mark's recitation. 00:07:22.44\00:07:25.17 He has some very pertinent information, 00:07:25.21\00:07:26.88 particularly this last line, 00:07:26.91\00:07:28.34 "Wherever the gospel is preached 00:07:28.38\00:07:29.71 what she has done is going to be 00:07:29.74\00:07:31.71 from now on a memorial to her." 00:07:31.75\00:07:33.68 Let's go over the Book of John. As we are in John. 00:07:33.72\00:07:36.55 We go to Chapter 12 00:07:36.58\00:07:38.69 and we begin reading in John Chapter 12. 00:07:38.72\00:07:43.73 And, Dee, I think you have John 12. 00:07:43.76\00:07:46.76 Let's see... 00:07:46.80\00:07:48.13 No, Gary, Gary has John 12. 00:07:48.16\00:07:49.50 Gary has a different verse 00:07:49.53\00:07:50.87 and then I was gonna pick up at five. 00:07:50.90\00:07:52.23 Okay. Okay. So John 1:1. 00:07:52.27\00:07:55.44 John 12:1, 00:07:55.47\00:07:57.61 "Then Jesus six days before the Passover came to Bethany, 00:07:57.64\00:08:01.51 were Lazarus was, which had been dead, 00:08:01.54\00:08:04.31 whom He raised from the dead. 00:08:04.35\00:08:06.41 There they made Him a supper, and Martha served, 00:08:06.45\00:08:08.82 but Lazarus was one of them that sat at the table with Him. 00:08:08.85\00:08:12.62 Then took Mary a pound of ointment of spikenard, 00:08:12.65\00:08:15.09 very costly, and anointed the feet of Jesus, 00:08:15.12\00:08:17.39 and wiped his feet with her hair, 00:08:17.43\00:08:19.36 and the house was filled with the odor of the ointment." 00:08:19.39\00:08:23.43 And then starting with verse 4. 00:08:23.47\00:08:25.40 All right, no, go ahead and do fourth. 00:08:25.43\00:08:26.84 "Then saith one of the disciples, 00:08:26.87\00:08:28.20 Judas Iscariot, Simon's son, which should betray him." 00:08:28.24\00:08:33.81 What he said was "'Why was this fragrant oil 00:08:33.84\00:08:37.11 not sold for three hundred denarii 00:08:37.15\00:08:39.35 and given to the poor? 00:08:39.38\00:08:41.55 This he said, not that he cared for the poor, 00:08:41.58\00:08:43.99 but because he was a thief, and had the money box, 00:08:44.02\00:08:47.72 and he used to take what was put in it.' 00:08:47.76\00:08:51.29 But Jesus said, 'Let her alone, 00:08:51.33\00:08:55.10 she has kept this for the day of my burial.'" 00:08:55.13\00:08:59.07 Thank you so very much. 00:08:59.10\00:09:00.54 Now, Shelley, I'm gonna put Luke's recitation in your hands 00:09:00.57\00:09:05.61 and read several verses from that Chapter 7 if you will. 00:09:05.64\00:09:08.91 I'm just going to read because it gets quite detailed, 00:09:08.94\00:09:12.31 so I'll just read Luke 7 00:09:12.35\00:09:14.78 and this is verses 36 through 39. 00:09:14.82\00:09:19.62 It says, "Then one of the Pharisees," 00:09:19.65\00:09:22.96 this would be Simon, "ask him to eat with him 00:09:22.99\00:09:26.56 and he went down to the Pharisee's house 00:09:26.59\00:09:28.90 and sat down to eat. 00:09:28.93\00:09:31.00 And, behold a woman in the city, " 00:09:31.03\00:09:34.44 now this is important, 00:09:34.47\00:09:36.27 "who was a sinner when she knew that 00:09:36.30\00:09:39.74 Jesus sat at the table in the Pharisee's house, 00:09:39.77\00:09:42.98 brought an alabaster flask of fragrant oil. 00:09:43.01\00:09:47.38 And stood at His feet behind Him weeping, 00:09:47.42\00:09:51.12 and she began to wash His feet with her tears, 00:09:51.15\00:09:55.89 and wipe them with the hair of her head, 00:09:55.92\00:09:58.96 and she kissed His feet, 00:09:58.99\00:10:00.96 and anointed them with the fragrant oil. 00:10:01.00\00:10:03.93 Now when the Pharisee who had invited Him saw this, 00:10:03.97\00:10:08.07 he spoke to himself saying, 00:10:08.10\00:10:10.71 'This man, if he were a prophet, 00:10:10.74\00:10:13.24 would know who and what manner of woman this is, 00:10:13.27\00:10:18.31 who is touching him, for she is a sinner.'" 00:10:18.35\00:10:22.72 Wow! Powerful. Powerful. 00:10:22.75\00:10:24.82 So you see now, 00:10:24.85\00:10:26.19 there are several layers of things going on. 00:10:26.22\00:10:29.32 Many, many layers. 00:10:29.36\00:10:30.69 We have to assume some things. 00:10:30.73\00:10:32.53 This supper, this feast was being held 00:10:32.56\00:10:36.56 at the house of Simon the leper. 00:10:36.60\00:10:38.63 Obviously, he was no longer a leper, 00:10:38.67\00:10:40.94 because had he been a leper, no one would come. 00:10:40.97\00:10:44.34 I mean, no one's gonna go to a leper's house for feast. 00:10:44.37\00:10:46.54 Plus, lepers couldn't have houses 00:10:46.57\00:10:47.98 and lepers would not invite anybody 00:10:48.01\00:10:49.44 and no one would come. 00:10:49.48\00:10:50.81 So he is post leprosy now. 00:10:50.85\00:10:53.78 He is there, having been as good as dead and revived, 00:10:53.82\00:10:58.09 and Lazarus is there, 00:10:58.12\00:10:59.72 who was dead and revived, so this is... 00:10:59.75\00:11:02.26 You've got many, many layers. 00:11:02.29\00:11:03.63 You've got the disciples there, 00:11:03.66\00:11:04.99 you've got Mary there, you've got Martha there, 00:11:05.03\00:11:06.53 you've got things going on in Simon's mind, 00:11:06.56\00:11:09.06 you've got things going on in Judas' mind, 00:11:09.10\00:11:11.10 you've got things going on... 00:11:11.13\00:11:13.10 You know, many, many layers of story, 00:11:13.13\00:11:14.70 and yet above all of this what stands out 00:11:14.74\00:11:16.84 is the sacrifice that Mary is making. 00:11:16.87\00:11:19.31 That's what I want to talk about. 00:11:19.34\00:11:20.68 Ellen White talks about this. 00:11:20.71\00:11:22.04 Just gonna read a couple of paragraphs 00:11:22.08\00:11:23.41 and then I want you to wade in and each person kind of give 00:11:23.45\00:11:26.51 what you're impressed to talk about. 00:11:26.55\00:11:29.98 This is called Nothing Too Costly, 00:11:30.02\00:11:32.29 "Christ delighted in the earnest desire of Mary 00:11:32.32\00:11:34.82 to do the will of her Lord. 00:11:34.86\00:11:36.52 He accepted the wealth of pure affection 00:11:36.56\00:11:39.19 which His disciples did not and would not understand. 00:11:39.23\00:11:43.03 The desire that Mary had to do this service for her Lord 00:11:43.06\00:11:46.90 was of more value to Christ 00:11:46.94\00:11:49.00 than all the precious ointment in the world, 00:11:49.04\00:11:52.07 because it expressed her appreciation 00:11:52.11\00:11:54.48 of the world's Redeemer. 00:11:54.51\00:11:56.68 It was the love of Christ that constrained her. 00:11:56.71\00:11:59.55 The matchless excellence of the character of Christ 00:11:59.58\00:12:02.12 filled her soul." 00:12:02.15\00:12:03.49 You know, when God does something for you, 00:12:03.52\00:12:04.85 you got to do something back, 00:12:04.89\00:12:06.22 there's nowhere to go around it. 00:12:06.25\00:12:07.59 "The matchless excellence 00:12:07.62\00:12:08.96 of the character of Christ filled her soul. 00:12:08.99\00:12:10.33 The ointment was a symbol of the heart of the giver. 00:12:10.36\00:12:14.00 It was an outward demonstration of a love 00:12:14.03\00:12:16.90 fed by heavenly streams until it overflowed." 00:12:16.93\00:12:19.93 I love that. Just a little bit more. 00:12:19.97\00:12:21.80 "The work of Mary 00:12:21.84\00:12:23.17 was just a lesson the disciples needed to show them, 00:12:23.20\00:12:26.88 that the expression of their love for Him 00:12:26.91\00:12:29.18 would be pleasing to Christ. 00:12:29.21\00:12:31.35 He had been everything to them and they did not realize 00:12:31.38\00:12:35.35 that soon they would be deprived of His presence, 00:12:35.38\00:12:38.79 that soon they could suffer..." 00:12:38.82\00:12:40.46 I'm sorry. 00:12:40.49\00:12:41.82 "That soon they could offer him 00:12:41.86\00:12:43.63 no token of their gratitude for his love. 00:12:43.66\00:12:47.53 The loneliness of Christ 00:12:47.56\00:12:48.90 separated from the heavenly courts, 00:12:48.93\00:12:50.77 living a life of humanity 00:12:50.80\00:12:52.90 was never understood or appreciated 00:12:52.93\00:12:55.24 by the disciples as it should have been." 00:12:55.27\00:12:57.21 He left glory to come down here, 00:12:57.24\00:12:59.07 and His closest followers didn't really get it 00:12:59.11\00:13:03.08 that He was separated from His fellows. 00:13:03.11\00:13:06.41 He was in a strange place for Him, 00:13:06.45\00:13:08.28 doing the work that is assigned to do, 00:13:08.32\00:13:10.99 and sometimes you just get lonely, 00:13:11.02\00:13:12.45 you know, when you're out there by yourself. 00:13:12.49\00:13:13.82 Last paragraph. 00:13:13.86\00:13:15.76 "The same want is evident in our world today. 00:13:15.79\00:13:19.09 But few appreciate all that Christ is to them. 00:13:19.13\00:13:22.83 If they did the great love of Mary would be expressed, 00:13:22.86\00:13:26.90 the anointing would be freely bestowed. 00:13:26.94\00:13:29.80 The expensive ointment would not be called a waste. 00:13:29.84\00:13:33.27 Nothing would be thought too costly to give for Christ, 00:13:33.31\00:13:37.38 no self-denial or self-sacrifice, 00:13:37.41\00:13:40.95 too great to be endured for His sake." 00:13:40.98\00:13:44.82 Amen. 00:13:44.85\00:13:46.19 And I think each of us in our Christian walk 00:13:46.22\00:13:48.09 has to answer the question, 00:13:48.12\00:13:50.36 how much is Jesus worth to me? 00:13:50.39\00:13:54.46 How much am I going to sacrifice for Him? 00:13:54.50\00:13:57.23 Am I going to give Him all, 00:13:57.27\00:13:58.97 or am I going to give Him nothing? 00:13:59.00\00:14:00.67 Am I gonna try to hold back part for myself? 00:14:00.70\00:14:03.17 Well, He gave all, He needs to get all. 00:14:03.20\00:14:06.31 Amen. All right. 00:14:06.34\00:14:07.68 Shelley, I see you got some stuff here. 00:14:07.71\00:14:09.04 You want to wade out for us. 00:14:09.08\00:14:10.41 Sure, the first thing that comes to my mind is, you know, 00:14:10.45\00:14:13.85 here it is just six days before His triumphal entry, 00:14:13.88\00:14:18.89 the crucifixion and everything. 00:14:18.92\00:14:22.16 Jesus has become very popular in Bethany. 00:14:22.19\00:14:25.63 I mean, his good friends 00:14:25.66\00:14:27.00 Lazarus, Mary and Martha lived there. 00:14:27.03\00:14:29.16 He went to visit them all the time, 00:14:29.20\00:14:31.57 but after He raised Lazarus from the death, 00:14:31.60\00:14:35.20 He gained even greater respect. 00:14:35.24\00:14:38.67 So He comes to visit them 00:14:38.71\00:14:40.74 during His final week of His life 00:14:40.78\00:14:43.48 and Simon invites Jesus, and when you invited Jesus, 00:14:43.51\00:14:47.55 all of His disciples come, 00:14:47.58\00:14:49.58 so here you've got a Pharisee, who as you said, 00:14:49.62\00:14:54.56 after he had that encounter with Christ and was healed, 00:14:54.59\00:14:58.79 this was the Pharisee who knew what it was like 00:14:58.83\00:15:03.80 to be unclean. 00:15:03.83\00:15:05.60 He had lived in a leper's colony, 00:15:05.63\00:15:08.44 he had to be separated from his family and his friends, 00:15:08.47\00:15:12.04 and he's throwing this feast. 00:15:12.07\00:15:14.81 Now, there's a lot of Bible interpreters 00:15:14.84\00:15:17.61 who will say because Matthew, Mark and Luke 00:15:17.65\00:15:20.85 don't identify the name of the woman. 00:15:20.88\00:15:24.55 They just say the woman, the woman. 00:15:24.59\00:15:27.06 Now here we saw in Luke. 00:15:27.09\00:15:29.96 Luke calls her a sinner. 00:15:29.99\00:15:32.69 Now this is significant because we've all sinned 00:15:32.73\00:15:36.67 and fallen short of the glory of God. 00:15:36.70\00:15:39.10 For him to put that designation shows that... 00:15:39.13\00:15:43.87 Can I say, she was notorious for her sin. 00:15:43.91\00:15:46.47 It said, had a reputation. 00:15:46.51\00:15:47.84 So there was a reputation there. 00:15:47.88\00:15:50.11 Now, we know this is Mary 00:15:50.15\00:15:53.25 who sat at Jesus' feet, who was, 00:15:53.28\00:15:56.62 you know, one of the three 00:15:56.65\00:15:57.99 that didn't leave Him at the cross, 00:15:58.02\00:15:59.95 who was the first to the tomb. 00:15:59.99\00:16:02.02 Here is a devoted disciple of Jesus 00:16:02.06\00:16:04.99 but because He brings this up, 00:16:05.03\00:16:07.80 you know, I believe there is a reasonable assumption 00:16:07.83\00:16:10.43 that we can say, this was Mary Magdalene, 00:16:10.47\00:16:14.70 that here she had fallen into this sin, 00:16:14.74\00:16:17.81 she'd moved away from her family, 00:16:17.84\00:16:21.21 you know, to another area so to spare them embarrassment 00:16:21.24\00:16:25.51 and she has an encounter with Jesus. 00:16:25.55\00:16:29.48 He cast seven demons out of her. 00:16:29.52\00:16:32.02 She is now a devoted follower. 00:16:32.05\00:16:35.62 John's the only one who tells us, in John 11:2, 00:16:35.66\00:16:39.96 what her name is, that she is Mary, 00:16:40.00\00:16:43.20 so that we know she is Lazarus' sister, right? 00:16:43.23\00:16:46.94 And once again, we see Martha. 00:16:46.97\00:16:50.37 What is she doing at this dinner? 00:16:50.41\00:16:51.97 Serving. She is serving. 00:16:52.01\00:16:53.44 She's in the kitchen rattling the pots and pans, 00:16:53.48\00:16:56.24 that's what she does. 00:16:56.28\00:16:58.48 But here comes Mary, 00:16:58.51\00:17:02.22 I believe because Simon knows and has, 00:17:02.25\00:17:06.59 he recoils and casts judgment, 00:17:06.62\00:17:09.46 not only on her but on Jesus for letting him touch her. 00:17:09.49\00:17:14.63 I believe he was one who had encounters with her, 00:17:14.66\00:17:19.67 perhaps even led her into sin, 00:17:19.70\00:17:23.04 and now think of what it had to be like for her 00:17:23.07\00:17:27.14 to walk into his house. 00:17:27.18\00:17:29.71 But you know what? 00:17:29.74\00:17:31.08 True love, true adoration for Christ, 00:17:31.11\00:17:35.15 you lose all self-consciousness, 00:17:35.18\00:17:36.75 you're not worried about what others will say. 00:17:36.79\00:17:39.15 She comes in, and when they were at the table, 00:17:39.19\00:17:43.43 all the men are at the table. 00:17:43.46\00:17:44.99 There was Lazarus giving silent witness 00:17:45.03\00:17:47.73 to the power of Christ's resurrection, right? 00:17:47.76\00:17:50.37 But what they did was when they ate in the east, 00:17:50.40\00:17:54.30 they reclined at the table, 00:17:54.34\00:17:55.97 they propped one arm up on the table 00:17:56.00\00:17:59.34 and their feet would be behind them. 00:17:59.37\00:18:00.71 Correct. 00:18:00.74\00:18:02.08 So she doesn't come around the front 00:18:02.11\00:18:03.45 to make a big to do out of this, 00:18:03.48\00:18:05.51 but she comes behind Him and as she, 00:18:05.55\00:18:09.55 you know, probably she heard like the other disciples heard, 00:18:09.58\00:18:12.55 that Jesus was talking about His death 00:18:12.59\00:18:15.02 and she probably knew His death was imminent, 00:18:15.06\00:18:18.16 and maybe she understood it 00:18:18.19\00:18:20.00 better than the other disciples did. 00:18:20.03\00:18:22.30 But she's at His feet, humbly she bows down there 00:18:22.33\00:18:26.77 and she just is overcome with emotion, 00:18:26.80\00:18:29.90 and her tears are flowing, and I love what Luke says 00:18:29.94\00:18:33.21 that she began to wash His feet with her tears. 00:18:33.24\00:18:37.38 I don't think this was planned, you know, why? 00:18:37.41\00:18:39.98 She didn't have a towel with her. 00:18:40.02\00:18:42.22 And so what she did was let down her hair, 00:18:42.25\00:18:45.32 which in their culture, a woman's hair was her glory, 00:18:45.35\00:18:50.39 so to let down the hair was not so acceptable, 00:18:50.43\00:18:54.56 but she's drying His feet 00:18:54.60\00:18:57.47 and then she's kissing His feet which is... 00:18:57.50\00:18:59.47 Did you know that was a common practice 00:18:59.50\00:19:01.87 to embrace and kiss the feet was considered an honor? 00:19:01.90\00:19:05.51 So there's nothing wrong there, 00:19:05.54\00:19:07.88 but this is a woman who takes, 00:19:07.91\00:19:12.81 the alabaster box was very expensive, very soft. 00:19:12.85\00:19:17.25 It could be carved and it was like a rose bud. 00:19:17.29\00:19:21.22 It was closed up and it didn't have a stopper 00:19:21.26\00:19:24.06 that you could take it out and just pour a little bit 00:19:24.09\00:19:27.60 like we do for your perfume bottles. 00:19:27.63\00:19:29.90 But as she pours this out on His feet, 00:19:29.93\00:19:33.94 she had to break open this alabaster box, 00:19:33.97\00:19:36.64 which was expensive. 00:19:36.67\00:19:38.21 The spikenard was worth a year's wages. 00:19:38.24\00:19:42.04 And, you know, I have to ask you. 00:19:42.08\00:19:44.25 I'll quit and let somebody, I got a lot I could say 00:19:44.28\00:19:46.65 but how would we feel 00:19:46.68\00:19:49.42 if someone came into our church service 00:19:49.45\00:19:52.69 and they walked up front and to honor the Lord 00:19:52.72\00:19:56.09 they took say $30,000 or $40,000, 00:19:56.12\00:19:59.69 and they let it match and it went up, 00:19:59.73\00:20:02.13 would be going. 00:20:02.16\00:20:04.43 What a waste? 00:20:04.47\00:20:07.14 Now that, you know, that's a waste. 00:20:07.17\00:20:09.30 That could have been... 00:20:09.34\00:20:10.67 We'd have probably been 00:20:10.71\00:20:12.04 just as guilty as the others saying, 00:20:12.07\00:20:14.74 "It could have been given to the poor." 00:20:14.78\00:20:16.41 Wouldn't we have? 00:20:16.44\00:20:18.48 But now we'll get into Judas in a minute. 00:20:18.51\00:20:21.08 But the whole point is, 00:20:21.12\00:20:23.75 I believe the only reason we have this story 00:20:23.79\00:20:27.66 is because Christ was memorializing 00:20:27.69\00:20:30.83 her act of worship. 00:20:30.86\00:20:32.19 Amen. 00:20:32.23\00:20:33.56 He said, "Where ever the gospel is told..." 00:20:33.60\00:20:35.83 And it's in all four gospels, it's in Matthew as well, 00:20:35.86\00:20:38.60 in Matthew Chapter 26, 00:20:38.63\00:20:40.84 "Wherever this gospel is told, this story will be shared 00:20:40.87\00:20:45.87 to memorialize what she's done here today." 00:20:45.91\00:20:48.68 So Mary was in an act 00:20:48.71\00:20:51.38 of humility and adoration for the Lord. 00:20:51.41\00:20:57.62 She loved Him so much. 00:20:57.65\00:20:58.99 She loved Him so much because He had done so much. 00:20:59.02\00:21:01.79 Mark makes it very plain and you really need 00:21:01.82\00:21:04.43 all four readings to get the equivalent 00:21:04.46\00:21:06.39 because there's so much going on. 00:21:06.43\00:21:07.86 John names names. 00:21:07.90\00:21:09.23 You know, Mark says, 00:21:09.26\00:21:10.60 "One of the disciples of John calls him up..." 00:21:10.63\00:21:11.97 Well, and John was written several decades later. 00:21:12.00\00:21:13.34 Right. Precisely so. 00:21:13.37\00:21:14.70 Because she was probably already dead, 00:21:14.74\00:21:16.07 the others out of respect. 00:21:16.10\00:21:17.44 But he also names Judas. 00:21:17.47\00:21:18.81 He indeed names names, you know, 00:21:18.84\00:21:20.18 and it connects him to Simon. 00:21:20.21\00:21:21.54 So, but with all of that Christ is reading that 00:21:21.58\00:21:24.38 and He comes to her defense, you know, He defends her. 00:21:24.41\00:21:27.98 And I love this statement, if you're a full gospel church. 00:21:28.02\00:21:31.59 You say you're full gospel, 00:21:31.62\00:21:32.95 you've got to put this story in there 00:21:32.99\00:21:34.39 because it's part of the full gospel 00:21:34.42\00:21:35.76 and it's because of what she did, 00:21:35.79\00:21:38.26 she took the opportunity that she had, 00:21:38.29\00:21:40.43 she flew in the face of convention, 00:21:40.46\00:21:42.36 she broke a lot of rules. 00:21:42.40\00:21:43.73 Absolutely. 00:21:43.77\00:21:45.10 During this time, she broke a lot of rules 00:21:45.13\00:21:46.47 but she wasn't focused on rules. 00:21:46.50\00:21:47.84 She was focused on Jesus. 00:21:47.87\00:21:49.20 Who wants to pick that up? 00:21:49.24\00:21:50.97 As I was reading this, 00:21:51.01\00:21:53.01 and we weren't there, 00:21:53.04\00:21:55.31 so we obviously don't know exactly what happened, 00:21:55.34\00:21:58.31 but she certainly was grateful 00:21:58.35\00:22:00.08 because if she was bringing up her mind 00:22:00.12\00:22:01.88 how special Jesus was to her, let her out of sin, 00:22:01.92\00:22:05.15 you know, raised her brother, 00:22:05.19\00:22:07.52 and so she went in 00:22:07.56\00:22:09.22 I think having this spikenard with the... 00:22:09.26\00:22:13.83 Perhaps the premise of saving this for His burial. 00:22:13.86\00:22:19.93 But yet, they started around the table, 00:22:19.97\00:22:22.10 start talking about Him being the next king. 00:22:22.14\00:22:25.61 All of a sudden, she became very confused, 00:22:25.64\00:22:29.34 and in her anxiety of that confusion, 00:22:29.38\00:22:33.82 we then have an accident, 00:22:33.85\00:22:36.55 and the accident was that... 00:22:36.58\00:22:39.39 That's not the right word, we had a happening. 00:22:39.42\00:22:42.22 And then all of a sudden, 00:22:42.26\00:22:43.59 perhaps what could have happened was 00:22:43.63\00:22:45.69 now we have perfume that is all over everywhere. 00:22:45.73\00:22:50.13 And, of course, she was trying to do this real quiet. 00:22:50.17\00:22:52.20 You did a great presentation in how quiet this was, 00:22:52.23\00:22:57.11 but because of the expanse of the spikenard, 00:22:57.14\00:23:00.88 all of a sudden, everyone in the room knew that 00:23:00.91\00:23:03.35 there was something different, and at that time, 00:23:03.38\00:23:05.81 you know, then the little whispering story taking place. 00:23:05.85\00:23:09.82 The keeper of the box, 00:23:09.85\00:23:11.49 the keeper of the funds for the poor 00:23:11.52\00:23:15.49 of which he was always into. 00:23:15.52\00:23:17.43 Yeah. 00:23:17.46\00:23:18.79 Judas was always snaffling out of there. 00:23:18.83\00:23:21.03 Yes. 00:23:21.06\00:23:22.40 Now the next thing that we know, 00:23:22.43\00:23:25.13 there's going to be a train wreck here. 00:23:25.17\00:23:27.40 Now we're looking at this good versus evil, 00:23:27.44\00:23:30.21 which that's where I'm looking at, 00:23:30.24\00:23:32.57 you know, you have the work of Satan over here, 00:23:32.61\00:23:34.61 but you have the work of Jesus over here guiding. 00:23:34.64\00:23:38.08 So now something is gonna have to happen 00:23:38.11\00:23:40.65 and then in few minutes as we're connecting these dots, 00:23:40.68\00:23:44.49 we'll see what happened 00:23:44.52\00:23:46.45 and how we still speak about this today. 00:23:46.49\00:23:51.16 Well, JD, I want to clarify one thing, 00:23:51.19\00:23:52.96 you weren't saying that her act was unintentional. 00:23:52.99\00:23:55.26 No. No. No. 00:23:55.30\00:23:56.73 Because the way you said, it was... 00:23:56.77\00:23:58.10 No. Okay. 00:23:58.13\00:24:00.04 But, I think that, the way that I read it and everything, 00:24:00.07\00:24:05.41 she was going there under the impression 00:24:05.44\00:24:08.24 that my savior is going to die soon. 00:24:08.28\00:24:12.28 So then there was that moment 00:24:12.31\00:24:14.82 whenever they were talking about kinship, 00:24:14.85\00:24:18.29 nobody could read the future. 00:24:18.32\00:24:19.75 So I mean, they had no idea. Could they? 00:24:19.79\00:24:23.39 I think of what you said that 00:24:23.43\00:24:27.76 the two mentalities, the two hearts 00:24:27.80\00:24:33.03 that were in that room is very impressive to me 00:24:33.07\00:24:37.77 because as you study 00:24:37.81\00:24:44.15 the sacrifice of Christ. 00:24:44.18\00:24:48.68 Sometimes, you know, I have in the past read and read. 00:24:48.72\00:24:55.16 You know, at times, you know... Wow! 00:24:55.19\00:24:57.13 This is really something 00:24:57.16\00:24:58.96 but when He finally comes into your heart, 00:24:58.99\00:25:03.67 then you understand and that's what was happening 00:25:03.70\00:25:08.54 and that Christ wanted the people to understand. 00:25:08.57\00:25:13.01 Christ wanted this story to go on 00:25:13.04\00:25:16.98 because we need it 00:25:17.01\00:25:20.28 to understand through the Holy Spirit, 00:25:20.32\00:25:23.08 when he meant that Christ was going to die, 00:25:23.12\00:25:25.49 no longer is going to be there. 00:25:25.52\00:25:27.42 But when you recognize what God has done for you, 00:25:27.46\00:25:33.76 and people criticize you, when you do something wrong, 00:25:33.80\00:25:38.30 and oh, well, 00:25:38.33\00:25:40.57 she did this or he did that and that we are so easily tend 00:25:40.60\00:25:45.41 to dismiss that person immediately. 00:25:45.44\00:25:51.85 And Christ instead, 00:25:51.88\00:25:54.18 you know, he was affirming that she was a sinner 00:25:54.22\00:25:58.52 but she had been restored. 00:25:58.55\00:26:01.32 He has restored her, 00:26:01.36\00:26:03.63 but nobody else there was understanding 00:26:03.66\00:26:09.20 what she was doing. 00:26:09.23\00:26:11.00 She had completely surrendered to the Lord, 00:26:11.03\00:26:15.04 and obviously more than once or twice. 00:26:15.07\00:26:19.07 So her heart was just so overwhelmed 00:26:19.11\00:26:23.11 on what Christ had done for her, 00:26:23.14\00:26:25.68 she didn't care, she didn't care. 00:26:25.71\00:26:28.45 And that's what He wants us to come to Him. 00:26:28.48\00:26:31.59 I'm busted here too. 00:26:31.62\00:26:33.76 Gary, you actually do get to talk. 00:26:33.79\00:26:35.69 I won't make comment, I'll just read this 00:26:35.72\00:26:37.89 because it goes perfectly with what you're saying. 00:26:37.93\00:26:40.16 In Luke 7:47, when Jesus said, 00:26:40.20\00:26:43.16 "Therefore I say to you, 00:26:43.20\00:26:45.10 her sins, which are many, are forgiven, 00:26:45.13\00:26:48.27 for she loved much. 00:26:48.30\00:26:50.97 But to whom little is forgiven, the same loves little." 00:26:51.01\00:26:56.64 The one thing I want to add, 00:26:56.68\00:26:58.05 I see a parallel here with this little woman 00:26:58.08\00:27:00.42 and the woman's issue of blood. 00:27:00.45\00:27:01.78 When you want to do your worship to Christ, 00:27:01.82\00:27:06.25 you're not really looking for an audience, 00:27:06.29\00:27:07.92 you know, that wouldn't want us to sneak in 00:27:07.96\00:27:09.52 and touch the garment and get out of there. 00:27:09.56\00:27:11.43 And Christ said, "Wait, wait, wait, 00:27:11.46\00:27:12.79 who touched me?" 00:27:12.83\00:27:14.16 So now everybody knows. 00:27:14.20\00:27:15.53 Well, she wanted to come in, 00:27:15.56\00:27:17.87 wash His feet with her hair and get out. 00:27:17.90\00:27:20.34 But the spikenard broadcasted her activity, 00:27:20.37\00:27:22.80 so she couldn't sneak away because now everybody knows. 00:27:22.84\00:27:25.81 So the thing that says to me, when I'm worshipping Christ, 00:27:25.84\00:27:29.44 it's one-on-one. 00:27:29.48\00:27:30.95 I'm not worried about what you're thinking, 00:27:30.98\00:27:32.45 I'm not worried about what you're thinking 00:27:32.48\00:27:33.82 because as much I'm just focused on Jesus 00:27:33.85\00:27:35.42 and I'm trying to get that blessing 00:27:35.45\00:27:36.79 and I'm trying to let Him know 00:27:36.82\00:27:38.55 that I love Him and that I appreciate His sacrifice. 00:27:38.59\00:27:40.46 Amen. 00:27:40.49\00:27:41.82 Let me use this. 00:27:41.86\00:27:43.19 See I think that... 00:27:43.22\00:27:46.06 I think I knew your background, 00:27:46.09\00:27:47.43 I know most of your backgrounds. 00:27:47.46\00:27:50.43 I relate to Mary 00:27:50.47\00:27:53.34 because I lived many, many years insane, 00:27:53.37\00:27:57.97 and so when the Lord love... 00:27:58.01\00:28:03.58 When love raises you up out of sin 00:28:03.61\00:28:06.55 because there's no other place to go, 00:28:06.58\00:28:10.02 and people... 00:28:10.05\00:28:11.89 The thing is people don't think that you can be saved. 00:28:11.92\00:28:15.52 "You're so bad," then you feel so bad yourself. 00:28:15.56\00:28:18.96 And Christ saved me over and over many times. 00:28:18.99\00:28:21.56 I'm like Mary. 00:28:21.60\00:28:22.93 I didn't always take in, 00:28:22.96\00:28:25.37 you slide back and you come forward and you slide back, 00:28:25.40\00:28:28.84 and other people don't accept that you're a changed person. 00:28:28.87\00:28:32.27 They don't know, your reputation is out there. 00:28:32.31\00:28:34.98 Yes. 00:28:35.01\00:28:36.34 And I can understand when I first... 00:28:36.38\00:28:39.48 Where I lived before, everybody knew who I was. 00:28:39.51\00:28:43.25 So being a Christian was not something 00:28:43.28\00:28:46.92 even my own family really believed per se. 00:28:46.96\00:28:50.93 I've had people say, 00:28:50.96\00:28:52.29 "Oh, I don't think you've changed that much," 00:28:52.33\00:28:53.70 and that just crushes you. 00:28:53.73\00:28:55.66 But that Satan, but when I came here, 00:28:55.70\00:28:58.50 see no one knew my baggage, 00:28:58.53\00:29:02.54 so then it was like, 00:29:02.57\00:29:04.77 "What if somebody walks in and tells." 00:29:04.81\00:29:08.58 So there are many people here who I shared with, 00:29:08.61\00:29:11.75 they knew where I came out of and what I came out of. 00:29:11.78\00:29:14.78 And then, you know, it didn't matter. 00:29:14.82\00:29:17.59 It was okay because I came to the point of, 00:29:17.62\00:29:22.42 "If God can save me, He can save anybody." 00:29:22.46\00:29:26.06 And see the whole idea of why you can't sneak in 00:29:26.09\00:29:28.86 and worship the Lord 00:29:28.90\00:29:30.67 is because that is praise to Him 00:29:30.70\00:29:33.23 that shows His power and shows what He can do. 00:29:33.27\00:29:37.54 And so you do want the world to know 00:29:37.57\00:29:39.57 how mighty and power, God, how powerful God is. 00:29:39.61\00:29:43.14 And you don't care when you're worshiping Him 00:29:43.18\00:29:48.12 and when you realize what He paid that 00:29:48.15\00:29:49.95 He did pay for, paid for everything. 00:29:49.98\00:29:52.75 It does bring you to tears when you're thinking like 00:29:52.79\00:29:55.42 what can I offer Him. 00:29:55.46\00:29:56.96 And really the only thing I have to offer is my life. 00:29:56.99\00:30:00.96 And then when you fail Him, 00:30:01.00\00:30:04.07 that, that rips me apart more than anything else 00:30:04.10\00:30:07.30 is when I feel like I failed Him 00:30:07.34\00:30:09.04 because anybody here at this table can know 00:30:09.07\00:30:11.37 when I didn't act. 00:30:11.41\00:30:13.91 You know, every one of us has acted like or thought like 00:30:13.94\00:30:19.15 Judas. 00:30:19.18\00:30:20.52 We have seen someone do something very spiritual, 00:30:20.55\00:30:23.32 very moving, very... 00:30:23.35\00:30:25.99 You mean like Simon, he was judgmental. 00:30:26.02\00:30:27.52 Simon, oh, Simon, yes. 00:30:27.56\00:30:29.62 Well, Judas judged too but Simon too 00:30:29.66\00:30:32.39 when they look and say if he knew who that was. 00:30:32.43\00:30:35.33 Because we look at people and we go, 00:30:35.36\00:30:37.70 I've thought it myself, 00:30:37.73\00:30:39.07 we've seen someone do something, we're like, 00:30:39.10\00:30:40.67 "Really, I know who you really are." 00:30:40.70\00:30:43.20 You know, but we don't know who they are, really are 00:30:43.24\00:30:45.74 when they're having an encounter with the Lord. 00:30:45.77\00:30:47.81 Amen, yeah. 00:30:47.84\00:30:49.18 You don't know who they really were. 00:30:49.21\00:30:50.55 Yes, right we don't know who they really are. 00:30:50.58\00:30:52.91 But Mary is so special in the Bible 00:30:52.95\00:30:56.05 because she shows, she gives hope to people 00:30:56.08\00:31:00.26 that don't have hope. 00:31:00.29\00:31:01.62 Yes, exactly. 00:31:01.66\00:31:02.99 She gave hope to me when I had no hope. 00:31:03.02\00:31:06.03 And it says, "God." 00:31:06.06\00:31:08.76 And we use that when we worship Him, 00:31:08.80\00:31:11.27 when we praise Him 00:31:11.30\00:31:13.07 and we give Him everything that we have 00:31:13.10\00:31:15.07 because that's all we have to give 00:31:15.10\00:31:17.04 then He does use that. 00:31:17.07\00:31:19.17 He uses it that why you couldn't keep it a secret. 00:31:19.21\00:31:22.18 Because then all of a sudden His spirit 00:31:22.21\00:31:25.48 and the beauty of the worship that Mary gave, 00:31:25.51\00:31:29.32 the beauty of the Lord surrounded 00:31:29.35\00:31:31.22 and covered everyone. 00:31:31.25\00:31:32.59 Amen. 00:31:32.62\00:31:33.96 And it just amazes me that Simon who was a leper 00:31:33.99\00:31:37.06 who really understood 00:31:37.09\00:31:38.53 what it was to live in a black hole 00:31:38.56\00:31:40.03 and to have no hope that God, 00:31:40.06\00:31:43.20 Jesus gave, stepped in there. 00:31:43.23\00:31:45.10 And gave him hope and gave him back his life. 00:31:45.13\00:31:47.50 And he was not willing to surrender and give to Him. 00:31:47.54\00:31:51.64 Yeah, and, Gary, before it comes to you, 00:31:51.67\00:31:53.74 this says something about Simon too. 00:31:53.78\00:31:55.28 It says that Simon was healed without a perfection of faith. 00:31:55.31\00:31:58.71 He's still thinking evil thoughts 00:31:58.75\00:32:00.62 after his healing. 00:32:00.65\00:32:01.98 Now, later on we found out that he finally does surrender. 00:32:02.02\00:32:05.32 But at this point he's still, 00:32:05.35\00:32:07.26 things are still going on in his head 00:32:07.29\00:32:09.46 and he's thinking even evil of other people. 00:32:09.49\00:32:12.13 It shows the length and breadth of the love of Christ. 00:32:12.16\00:32:14.93 Yes, absolutely. 00:32:14.96\00:32:16.30 To reach out to somebody who is not quite yet there. 00:32:16.33\00:32:19.03 But Christ does get him across the line, 00:32:19.07\00:32:20.90 but he ain't there just yet. 00:32:20.94\00:32:22.50 He never gives up on you. Never gave up on me. 00:32:22.54\00:32:25.04 Every time I called to Him and then I fall away, 00:32:25.07\00:32:27.78 He never gave up. 00:32:27.81\00:32:29.21 And He, and that's what He wants us to understand 00:32:29.24\00:32:32.31 and to believe because He can and He wants to change us. 00:32:32.35\00:32:37.62 He wants to change our heart. He wants us to be like Him. 00:32:37.65\00:32:41.16 And He will. 00:32:41.19\00:32:42.52 He has the power to do it Right. 00:32:42.56\00:32:44.69 We've known you since 2003 00:32:44.73\00:32:47.23 and you're one of the most godly woman... 00:32:47.26\00:32:49.70 That's true, I've told her that too. 00:32:49.73\00:32:51.07 And to hear the story of, 00:32:51.10\00:32:52.97 you know, when you bring this up, 00:32:53.00\00:32:54.34 it's always like, "Wow!" 00:32:54.37\00:32:57.04 You know, but then I look back on my own life 00:32:57.07\00:32:59.57 and realize how much God has transformed me 00:32:59.61\00:33:02.01 because I have my PC days too. 00:33:02.04\00:33:03.95 You're not the only one, you know, so. 00:33:03.98\00:33:07.48 That's what I like about the story so much. 00:33:07.52\00:33:09.62 It's about Jesus is more willing to forgive us 00:33:09.65\00:33:12.45 than we're willing to forgive others. 00:33:12.49\00:33:13.82 Yes. Amen. 00:33:13.86\00:33:15.19 And so if you ask the question, 00:33:15.22\00:33:16.56 "Why should this story be included in the gospels?" 00:33:16.59\00:33:18.83 The answer came back to me is, 00:33:18.86\00:33:20.40 "This story is about forgiveness and gratitude. 00:33:20.43\00:33:23.06 Yes, yes. 00:33:23.10\00:33:24.43 And that's why it should be included in the gospel. 00:33:24.47\00:33:26.60 And also some, going through the story, 00:33:26.63\00:33:28.24 I came across an interesting contrast. 00:33:28.27\00:33:30.44 And if you back up all way 00:33:30.47\00:33:31.81 to beginning of the story, Jesus... 00:33:31.84\00:33:33.84 In which account? 00:33:33.88\00:33:35.54 Well, just the whole story, you take it as a whole. 00:33:35.58\00:33:39.01 Jesus didn't own a home. 00:33:39.05\00:33:40.62 And so because of that a lot of people thought 00:33:40.65\00:33:42.72 He was too poor to own a home. 00:33:42.75\00:33:44.82 However the contrast is that 00:33:44.85\00:33:46.19 He owned everything in the planet. 00:33:46.22\00:33:47.56 Yeah. Yes, yes. 00:33:47.59\00:33:48.92 So that's an interesting contrast. 00:33:48.96\00:33:50.29 And so Simon thought that he was doing Jesus the honor 00:33:50.33\00:33:53.29 by preparing a feast for Jesus. 00:33:53.33\00:33:55.26 But it was Simon who Jesus honored 00:33:55.30\00:33:57.83 by accepting the invitation 00:33:57.87\00:33:59.70 and having His presence at the feast. 00:33:59.73\00:34:02.37 That's the contrast there. 00:34:02.40\00:34:04.57 Simon was cured of leprosy as we talked about by Jesus 00:34:04.61\00:34:09.54 but when He saw that a great sinner, 00:34:09.58\00:34:12.91 Mary was touching Him. 00:34:12.95\00:34:14.48 He purposed in his heart that, well, this can't be a prophet. 00:34:14.52\00:34:18.69 The contrast is, Jesus showed him unequivocally 00:34:18.72\00:34:22.06 that He was a prophet 'cause he read his heart 00:34:22.09\00:34:23.86 and then He spoke to him before Simon 00:34:23.89\00:34:25.43 ever had a chance to say the word. 00:34:25.46\00:34:26.83 Precisely, right, right. 00:34:26.86\00:34:28.20 So right there He showed that He was a prophet of prophets. 00:34:28.23\00:34:32.17 And that Simon was actually condemned in that 00:34:32.20\00:34:34.67 that he had said, "Well, He can't be a prophet 00:34:34.70\00:34:36.30 if he's let him touch His feet." 00:34:36.34\00:34:38.84 Another contrast is Simon had been cleansed by Jesus 00:34:38.87\00:34:42.11 of his outward ailment 00:34:42.14\00:34:44.28 but He didn't see his inward defilement. 00:34:44.31\00:34:46.98 Mary was sorrow for what she had done in the body 00:34:47.02\00:34:50.62 and repented and Jesus cleansed her 00:34:50.65\00:34:52.25 of the inward defilement. 00:34:52.29\00:34:53.62 Yes, amen. 00:34:53.66\00:34:54.99 I think that's a beautiful contrast between the two. 00:34:55.02\00:34:57.46 And then lastly, Mary shows her appreciation 00:34:57.49\00:35:01.43 by washing Jesus' feet with her tears and hair, 00:35:01.46\00:35:04.80 anointing Him with the expensive ointment 00:35:04.83\00:35:06.87 while Simon didn't even show common courtesy. 00:35:06.90\00:35:09.94 Because that was the host... 00:35:09.97\00:35:11.31 Because that was the host's duty, exactly. 00:35:11.34\00:35:13.17 So the story is full of contrast, 00:35:13.21\00:35:15.01 I think that really illustrate God's willing to forgive us 00:35:15.04\00:35:19.58 beyond what we're willing 00:35:19.61\00:35:20.95 because Simon wanted Mary condemned. 00:35:20.98\00:35:23.42 He wanted Jesus to condemn her. 00:35:23.45\00:35:25.49 Everyone at the place wanted Jesus to condemn her. 00:35:25.52\00:35:27.96 But Jesus wasn't going to do that. 00:35:27.99\00:35:29.56 He actually showed who was really in the wrong. 00:35:29.59\00:35:32.73 It was Simon. 00:35:32.76\00:35:35.76 Go ahead, yeah. 00:35:35.80\00:35:37.13 Everyone's around the table, yeah, yeah, go ahead. 00:35:37.17\00:35:38.50 If you can take a breath, I'm not gonna jump you. 00:35:38.53\00:35:40.57 Don't worry. 00:35:40.60\00:35:41.94 You know what you have to sit here and think too 00:35:41.97\00:35:43.67 is that Judas is sitting here 00:35:43.71\00:35:45.77 calculating the cost of his life as were others. 00:35:45.81\00:35:50.18 They only thought they were calculating the cost. 00:35:50.21\00:35:53.31 This was Mary's IRA, 00:35:53.35\00:35:55.75 her Individual Retirement Account, 00:35:55.78\00:35:58.32 the money that was in, I mean, 00:35:58.35\00:35:59.92 the money that had purchased this expensive alabaster box 00:35:59.95\00:36:04.59 and the spikenard had been money 00:36:04.63\00:36:07.53 that cost her her reputation, her self-esteem, 00:36:07.56\00:36:12.93 her lack of respect, 00:36:12.97\00:36:14.67 the cost that what went in to purchase this 00:36:14.70\00:36:20.04 with the wages that she'd earned 00:36:20.08\00:36:22.18 in her previous life. 00:36:22.21\00:36:24.88 This was something that cost her everything 00:36:24.91\00:36:29.32 until she met Jesus. 00:36:29.35\00:36:31.92 You know, and so to me, I think that that's something 00:36:31.95\00:36:36.52 that another thing is that sometimes we look at people 00:36:36.56\00:36:40.50 and we're trying to figure out 00:36:40.53\00:36:43.40 the value of what they're doing, 00:36:43.43\00:36:45.97 where as we don't know the back story. 00:36:46.00\00:36:51.07 We don't know like the widow with the two mite 00:36:51.11\00:36:53.98 and you think, "Oh, big deal, two mites." 00:36:54.01\00:36:56.68 But that's all she had to live on. 00:36:56.71\00:36:58.18 So this was such an act of worship, I mean. 00:36:58.21\00:37:03.95 I think it's interesting that you kind of touched on. 00:37:03.99\00:37:05.69 She seemed to be the only one that actually understood 00:37:05.72\00:37:08.29 what Jesus was saying about His death. 00:37:08.32\00:37:10.13 Yes. 00:37:10.16\00:37:11.49 'Cause she actually put that belief into action 00:37:11.53\00:37:13.63 and got something to prepare for that event. 00:37:13.66\00:37:15.96 Yes. 00:37:16.00\00:37:17.33 And like as you related to is, as she heard them saying that, 00:37:17.37\00:37:19.03 well, you know, He might be King. 00:37:19.07\00:37:20.47 They're going to make Him King when He goes to Jerusalem, 00:37:20.50\00:37:22.77 she got caught up in the whole atmosphere 00:37:22.80\00:37:26.37 and so she was like, "Well, hey, 00:37:26.41\00:37:28.08 I'm going to anoint Him now because He's going to be king. 00:37:28.11\00:37:29.98 He's not going to be dying like He said He was." 00:37:30.01\00:37:32.21 She wanted to be the first to honor Him. 00:37:32.25\00:37:33.92 Yes. 00:37:33.95\00:37:35.28 I think that's the wonders of God 00:37:35.32\00:37:38.95 that He cease where we are. 00:37:38.99\00:37:42.82 But He never stops to come and see how to move us 00:37:42.86\00:37:47.56 into to know Him personal. 00:37:47.60\00:37:51.17 Just like Mary became to know Him personal 00:37:51.20\00:37:56.00 to the extent that she didn't care about, 00:37:56.04\00:38:01.41 like, you said to you use whatever anybody thought. 00:38:01.44\00:38:04.65 Or that maybe that was her last money forever, 00:38:04.68\00:38:10.35 you have these so that people that are pretending to be, 00:38:10.39\00:38:15.66 to know Christ to the end, 00:38:15.69\00:38:18.13 yet their minds went on everything else 00:38:18.16\00:38:20.80 but the money, you know, why is she doing this. 00:38:20.83\00:38:25.47 We know who she is. 00:38:25.50\00:38:27.54 And yet Christ was there just to show love, 00:38:27.57\00:38:32.07 to shine in love 00:38:32.11\00:38:33.54 because that's what He chose Simon. 00:38:33.58\00:38:37.35 He knew, Simon is saying these things about Mary. 00:38:37.38\00:38:40.62 Jesus seen it and if he'd really knew. 00:38:40.65\00:38:42.75 Well, who could know better the heart of anybody but Jesus? 00:38:42.78\00:38:47.89 I don't think at that point all of the other disciples knew 00:38:47.92\00:38:50.73 what a devoted disciple she was. 00:38:50.76\00:38:52.69 It was really Simon 00:38:52.73\00:38:54.13 who was thinking of her in the past. 00:38:54.16\00:38:57.30 Do you think that... 00:38:57.33\00:38:59.17 You brought up something that now I just thought about 00:38:59.20\00:39:01.77 that she didn't know if Jesus was going to die 00:39:01.80\00:39:04.61 or if He was going to be king. 00:39:04.64\00:39:05.97 But what she might have known in her heart, 00:39:06.01\00:39:08.78 whether He was king or going to die, 00:39:08.81\00:39:10.65 this may be the last chance... 00:39:10.68\00:39:12.91 That she has, yeah. 00:39:12.95\00:39:14.28 That I can honor Him, that I can let Him know 00:39:14.32\00:39:17.09 what He's done for me. 00:39:17.12\00:39:18.75 So she was taking her last chance to say, 00:39:18.79\00:39:22.79 "You are my Savior, my Lord. 00:39:22.82\00:39:24.26 I want to give You all that I am 00:39:24.29\00:39:26.09 because You have taken darkness out of my heart. 00:39:26.13\00:39:28.86 You've taken all this pain out. 00:39:28.90\00:39:31.03 And You've given me joy and life. 00:39:31.07\00:39:33.50 Jesus gave a context because He said burial. 00:39:33.54\00:39:36.84 So He kind of played it out. 00:39:36.87\00:39:38.21 He said, that's what I was gonna look at. 00:39:38.24\00:39:39.57 Okay, yes. Mark 4:8, it says... 00:39:39.61\00:39:41.41 Precisely, precisely. She has done what she could. 00:39:41.44\00:39:44.08 She's come before head, 00:39:44.11\00:39:46.01 beforehand to anoint My body for burial. 00:39:46.05\00:39:49.78 Two, the gospels talk about her anointing His feet 00:39:49.82\00:39:54.59 that were soon to have the nails driven through them. 00:39:54.62\00:39:57.99 Two, the gospels talk about her anointing His head 00:39:58.03\00:40:01.80 which was soon to have that crown of thorns. 00:40:01.83\00:40:04.57 So I'm sure she did both. 00:40:04.60\00:40:07.17 But I think what Jesus is doing in my personal opinion, 00:40:07.20\00:40:11.87 the whole of this story is, yes it does show 00:40:11.91\00:40:15.28 the difference between forgiveness and unforgiveness. 00:40:15.31\00:40:17.61 I think He's holding her up as the model of worship, 00:40:17.65\00:40:23.32 unreserved worship. 00:40:23.35\00:40:25.25 Yes, yes. Agreed, agreed. 00:40:25.29\00:40:26.62 And here's something 00:40:26.65\00:40:28.16 if we're going to make the personal application. 00:40:28.19\00:40:31.46 Why do we come to church? 00:40:31.49\00:40:33.93 Do we come because it is culturally correct, 00:40:33.96\00:40:38.17 this is how we grew up? 00:40:38.20\00:40:39.83 Is it just habit? 00:40:39.87\00:40:42.20 Is it something that someone expects of us? 00:40:42.24\00:40:45.77 Some people come to church just to be with their family 00:40:45.81\00:40:50.15 or to be with fellowship, 00:40:50.18\00:40:51.55 others are coming to study the Word. 00:40:51.58\00:40:54.02 But the true reason for us coming to church is to worship. 00:40:54.05\00:40:58.72 And if we ever go to church 00:40:58.75\00:41:00.62 and leave without worshipping the Lord, 00:41:00.66\00:41:03.12 we'd miss the whole thing. 00:41:03.16\00:41:05.39 And you know, there is something about us 00:41:05.43\00:41:11.07 that we want to be soberly proper in our worship. 00:41:11.10\00:41:17.21 You know, there's people that I remember 00:41:17.24\00:41:19.31 and I'm going to tell the story of myself, 00:41:19.34\00:41:20.68 my first day at ASI, I'd only been, 00:41:20.71\00:41:22.58 I'd only been joined the church just weeks before. 00:41:22.61\00:41:26.85 And my first day at ASI, I'm sitting on the front row 00:41:26.88\00:41:29.18 and I think, "Oh boy this, oh, this man was singing a song 00:41:29.22\00:41:32.75 that was true worship. 00:41:32.79\00:41:34.12 He wasn't performing. 00:41:34.16\00:41:35.56 And I remember, I raised my hand 00:41:35.59\00:41:37.56 and I was just, oh, I was just caught up in the worship. 00:41:37.59\00:41:41.86 And then a gentleman, 00:41:41.90\00:41:43.87 a well-known evangelist came up to me afterwards 00:41:43.90\00:41:46.87 and he said, well, because he'd seen me on, 00:41:46.90\00:41:50.31 Danny had me up there 00:41:50.34\00:41:51.67 the night before giving a little testimony. 00:41:51.71\00:41:53.31 He said, "We're so excited that you joined the church." 00:41:53.34\00:41:56.34 And I said, "Well, I hope you won't judge me 00:41:56.38\00:41:59.61 because I raised my hand." 00:41:59.65\00:42:02.55 You know what he said to me, "I hope you won't judge us 00:42:02.58\00:42:05.65 because we didn't." 00:42:05.69\00:42:08.36 I think we're so quick to judge 00:42:08.39\00:42:10.79 but I want to read them with something if I may 00:42:10.83\00:42:13.73 before this time gets apart. 00:42:13.76\00:42:16.30 Because Ellen G White, Testimonies, volume 5, 00:42:16.33\00:42:20.04 page 317 and 18 says this, 00:42:20.07\00:42:24.07 "Praise the Lord 00:42:24.11\00:42:25.67 in the congregation of the people." 00:42:25.71\00:42:27.71 Yes, yes. 00:42:27.74\00:42:29.08 "There is too much formality in our religious services. 00:42:29.11\00:42:34.85 When the church is walking in the light, 00:42:34.88\00:42:37.69 there will ever be cheerful hearty responses 00:42:37.72\00:42:43.26 and words of joyous praise." 00:42:43.29\00:42:47.13 Love it. Love it, yes. 00:42:47.16\00:42:48.53 I think that much of our religious activity 00:42:48.56\00:42:52.77 lacks enthusiastic love for the Lord. 00:42:52.80\00:42:55.97 Yes. What would seem with mere... 00:42:56.00\00:42:57.51 Hearty relationship with the Lord. 00:42:57.54\00:42:59.87 Enthusiastic love. 00:42:59.91\00:43:01.54 None of us want chaos in our church. 00:43:01.58\00:43:03.55 But I cannot stop, 00:43:03.58\00:43:06.08 sometimes when the spirit is really moving on me 00:43:06.11\00:43:08.95 and I'm feeling, I raise my hands 00:43:08.98\00:43:11.79 'cause I can't not. 00:43:11.82\00:43:16.49 And there are times when I just, 00:43:16.52\00:43:19.09 I wish I could just drop to my knees but I... 00:43:19.13\00:43:23.33 But it's true that all the times that, 00:43:23.37\00:43:26.60 you want to and what happens, 00:43:26.63\00:43:29.57 the enemy brings that thought of, you know, 00:43:29.60\00:43:32.67 I can't do this because there's all these people are looking 00:43:32.71\00:43:35.81 and they're going to think whatever. 00:43:35.84\00:43:38.81 And yet... 00:43:38.85\00:43:40.18 And we don't want... We're supposed to be... 00:43:40.22\00:43:42.62 Praise and worship is what we're there for. 00:43:42.65\00:43:44.82 Yeah, it's like you saw this cup, 00:43:44.85\00:43:47.69 and you don't see nothing else. 00:43:47.72\00:43:49.96 This is Christ that we are supposed to be. 00:43:49.99\00:43:53.60 Just Christ. I'm sorry. 00:43:53.63\00:43:56.83 Excuse me, there's one thing, you know, I think 00:43:56.87\00:44:00.10 that Jesus certainly appreciated about Mary 00:44:00.14\00:44:03.64 was is that she was bringing her love to Him 00:44:03.67\00:44:09.81 while He was alive, sharing some of His love, 00:44:09.84\00:44:12.85 you know, He says, "Yes, Nicodemus and Joseph, 00:44:12.88\00:44:15.58 they've provided a place for me after the fact. 00:44:15.62\00:44:19.89 Yes there was this precious, 00:44:19.92\00:44:22.32 this other lady that showed up at the grave 00:44:22.36\00:44:25.73 with her perfumes after the fact. 00:44:25.76\00:44:29.90 But the lesson is, is that she was there 00:44:29.93\00:44:33.17 while He was living. 00:44:33.20\00:44:34.87 And I think it's a lesson for all of us. 00:44:34.90\00:44:37.47 You know, He said, we need to take care 00:44:37.51\00:44:39.31 of our brothers and sisters 00:44:39.34\00:44:40.71 and take care of them while they're living 00:44:40.74\00:44:43.31 rather than, well, we'll take care of, 00:44:43.35\00:44:45.51 you know, after the fact, you know. 00:44:45.55\00:44:48.05 And anyways I was reading in and I really like that. 00:44:48.08\00:44:53.46 Closing chapter of Ellen White's, 00:44:53.49\00:44:55.09 I think we need to open ourselves up 00:44:55.12\00:44:56.73 to worship to receive the Lord 00:44:56.76\00:44:58.76 and not be so constrained by fear or convention. 00:44:58.79\00:45:03.83 And I think as Dee, 00:45:03.87\00:45:05.20 someone said we don't want chaos. 00:45:05.23\00:45:06.63 we don't want bedlam in the church. 00:45:06.67\00:45:08.24 But I think we, if the pendulum is swinging one way, 00:45:08.27\00:45:12.17 it tends to swing a little too much towards conservatism 00:45:12.21\00:45:16.28 and kind of buttoned-down-ism. 00:45:16.31\00:45:19.95 And we need to let go. 00:45:19.98\00:45:21.38 There are some people who, I've heard people say, 00:45:21.42\00:45:23.49 "Hope you didn't mind me saying amen during a ceremony." 00:45:23.52\00:45:27.86 Mind? Please. 00:45:27.89\00:45:31.46 That time, my favorite and I'm just, 00:45:31.49\00:45:35.20 I don't mean anything by this 00:45:35.23\00:45:36.56 but I love to preach at a black church 00:45:36.60\00:45:40.10 because they're going, "Amen! Mercy!" 00:45:40.14\00:45:43.61 And they, as you're preaching 00:45:43.64\00:45:46.27 it draws the anointing out of you. 00:45:46.31\00:45:48.48 It does. 00:45:48.51\00:45:49.84 People are responding and you see this and I love it. 00:45:49.88\00:45:54.02 I just absolutely love it. 00:45:54.05\00:45:55.38 There is something with this call 00:45:55.42\00:45:56.75 and responses just fills your spirit. 00:45:56.79\00:45:58.52 Phrases catching is contagious. It is, it is. 00:45:58.55\00:46:01.46 And you don't want chaos or confusion 00:46:01.49\00:46:04.13 but if it is a sincere worship from you, 00:46:04.16\00:46:06.19 deep in your part, 00:46:06.23\00:46:07.56 you don't have confusion and chaos. 00:46:07.60\00:46:09.66 It is and it is a lifting up in joy. 00:46:09.70\00:46:12.30 It's a lifting each other up in praise. 00:46:12.33\00:46:16.44 One necessity that you're praising the same God. 00:46:16.47\00:46:19.54 If I could say one thing 00:46:19.57\00:46:21.31 and I'm going to get in trouble for saying this. 00:46:21.34\00:46:23.11 That's okay, we're all in trouble. 00:46:23.14\00:46:24.48 When we have praise and worship in our music. 00:46:24.51\00:46:28.35 And sometimes the Lord has just, 00:46:28.38\00:46:31.69 you know, that's what praise and worship is for 00:46:31.72\00:46:33.59 is to plough up the heart, 00:46:33.62\00:46:35.49 to get you ready to receive the seed. 00:46:35.52\00:46:38.66 And somebody stands up there afterwards 00:46:38.69\00:46:41.06 and starts joking around 00:46:41.10\00:46:43.06 or just even reading the bulletin, 00:46:43.10\00:46:45.83 it's like, that moment... 00:46:45.87\00:46:48.24 We have an announcement. I don't like that. 00:46:48.27\00:46:50.31 I don't like the announcements. 00:46:50.34\00:46:51.67 I wish they do announcements before... 00:46:51.71\00:46:53.41 Many times I said to you, 00:46:53.44\00:46:55.48 oh, that was the message was so wonderful. 00:46:55.51\00:46:58.78 And then they came with all that. 00:46:58.81\00:47:01.65 And then saying now, we're gonna do this, 00:47:01.68\00:47:03.75 and whatever, anyway, so like... 00:47:03.79\00:47:05.32 If I had, if I could write the order of worship, 00:47:05.35\00:47:08.82 I would do announcements before praise and worship. 00:47:08.86\00:47:13.50 And don't get up there and start telling me 00:47:13.53\00:47:15.50 a joke afterwards 00:47:15.53\00:47:16.87 because you think you're going to get my attention. 00:47:16.90\00:47:19.10 Because if God's been working on my heart in worship, 00:47:19.13\00:47:22.40 He's got my attention in what you're doing. 00:47:22.44\00:47:24.87 Yes, yes. 00:47:24.91\00:47:26.24 If you're in worship, you want to stay there. 00:47:26.27\00:47:27.61 I agree. 00:47:27.64\00:47:29.11 Gary, if you got something to say, 00:47:29.14\00:47:30.48 you better jump in because... 00:47:30.51\00:47:32.21 We're running out of time. 00:47:32.25\00:47:34.68 Well, it's not in the church service. 00:47:34.72\00:47:36.28 But I think God is wounded 00:47:36.32\00:47:38.15 when we don't show our gratitude 00:47:38.19\00:47:40.09 in words and deeds. 00:47:40.12\00:47:42.56 I found this interesting quote, I'd like to share, you know, 00:47:42.59\00:47:46.09 Simon was quick to condemn. 00:47:46.13\00:47:47.53 Christ is never is. 00:47:47.56\00:47:48.90 And this is an interesting quote, 00:47:48.93\00:47:50.27 "Christ might commission the angels of heaven 00:47:50.30\00:47:52.40 to pour out the vials of wrath on the world full of hypocrisy 00:47:52.43\00:47:55.80 and sin destroying those 00:47:55.84\00:47:57.17 who are filled with hatred to God. 00:47:57.21\00:47:59.47 He might blot this dark spot from His universe 00:47:59.51\00:48:02.61 but He does not. 00:48:02.64\00:48:05.61 This, but He's not. 00:48:05.65\00:48:07.38 He is today standing at the altar of incense 00:48:07.42\00:48:10.22 presenting before God the prayers of those 00:48:10.25\00:48:12.55 who desire his help. 00:48:12.59\00:48:14.12 Who is he that condemneth? 00:48:14.16\00:48:15.52 It is Christ that died 00:48:15.56\00:48:16.89 getting rather that is raised again 00:48:16.93\00:48:18.73 who is even at the right hand of God 00:48:18.76\00:48:20.90 who also makes intercessions for us." 00:48:20.93\00:48:23.23 Romans 832. 00:48:23.26\00:48:25.50 He could wipe us out because we deserve it. 00:48:25.53\00:48:27.07 But He doesn't. He loves us. 00:48:27.10\00:48:28.44 And so my appeal is, you may say, 00:48:28.47\00:48:30.64 I am sinful, very sinful. 00:48:30.67\00:48:32.11 You may be, but the worse you are 00:48:32.14\00:48:34.88 the more you need Jesus. 00:48:34.91\00:48:36.24 He turns no weeping contrite soul away. 00:48:36.28\00:48:39.41 He does not tell to any or any all that He might reveal 00:48:39.45\00:48:43.62 but He by, bid everyone trembling so take courage. 00:48:43.65\00:48:47.82 He will not reject any who comes to Him penitent 00:48:47.86\00:48:50.29 and believing. 00:48:50.33\00:48:51.66 Freely will He pardon all who come 00:48:51.69\00:48:53.66 to the forgiveness of restoration. 00:48:53.70\00:48:56.70 And another quote I couldn't find it but, 00:48:56.73\00:49:00.24 "God's blessing today is a guarantee 00:49:00.27\00:49:02.04 of blessings tomorrow." 00:49:02.07\00:49:03.41 Yes, yes. 00:49:03.44\00:49:04.77 And He loves you and He wants to forgive you today. 00:49:04.81\00:49:08.08 Just go to Him today and ask for that forgiveness. 00:49:08.11\00:49:10.55 Amen. Praise the lord. 00:49:10.58\00:49:11.91 Praise the lord. 00:49:11.95\00:49:13.28 You know, He wants to forgive you and love you. 00:49:13.31\00:49:14.78 And fill you with joy. 00:49:14.82\00:49:17.25 Yes, fill you with the joy of the salvation. 00:49:17.29\00:49:20.26 Quality of life. Yes. 00:49:20.29\00:49:21.89 You know what broke Simon's heart? 00:49:21.92\00:49:23.63 And this is this so wonderful. 00:49:23.66\00:49:25.39 Christ in telling him that parable, 00:49:25.43\00:49:28.53 he realized, had to realize that had Christ wished to, 00:49:28.56\00:49:32.97 he could have exposed him at his own party. 00:49:33.00\00:49:36.44 Tell what the parable is 'cause we didn't actually... 00:49:36.47\00:49:38.34 That's in Luke. Yeah, let me just... 00:49:38.37\00:49:41.88 Start with verse 40... It's in the 40, 44. 00:49:41.91\00:49:46.95 Forty. So that's the difference. 00:49:46.98\00:49:48.32 Satan get you to sin and exposes you. 00:49:48.35\00:49:50.52 Jesus saves you and protects you. 00:49:50.55\00:49:53.66 Yes, yes. 00:49:53.69\00:49:55.02 Yeah, at 41, there was a certain creditor 00:49:55.06\00:49:56.39 who had two debtors. 00:49:56.42\00:49:58.26 One owed 500 denarii the other 50. 00:49:58.29\00:50:01.86 And when they had nothing with which to repay 00:50:01.90\00:50:08.00 he freely forgave them both. 00:50:08.04\00:50:09.37 Tell me, therefore 00:50:09.40\00:50:10.81 which of them will love him more. 00:50:10.84\00:50:13.84 And, of course the, 00:50:13.88\00:50:15.21 it's a rhetorical kind of thing. 00:50:15.24\00:50:16.85 But because the one who was forgiven more would love more. 00:50:16.88\00:50:20.52 But by that he realized, 00:50:20.55\00:50:22.58 Christ knew what was going on his head. 00:50:22.62\00:50:26.12 And he was acting like the 50. 00:50:26.15\00:50:27.56 I think he acts like he had nothing, 00:50:27.59\00:50:29.02 he owned no one anything. 00:50:29.06\00:50:30.49 And she was acting like the one who owed the 500. 00:50:30.53\00:50:32.73 He realized then, He's reading my thoughts. 00:50:32.76\00:50:35.36 He knows what's in my heart. 00:50:35.40\00:50:36.93 And if you wish to, 00:50:36.97\00:50:38.93 He could publish this to this whole gathering. 00:50:38.97\00:50:41.50 But it was the fact and we see this 00:50:41.54\00:50:43.51 in that wonderful book, Desire of Ages 00:50:43.54\00:50:45.11 that Christ kept silent. 00:50:45.14\00:50:46.84 He knew Christ is holding on to a secret. 00:50:46.88\00:50:48.81 That's what broke his heart. 00:50:48.84\00:50:50.18 And see when we see ourselves as a sin as we are, 00:50:50.21\00:50:53.25 the fact is we don't often times take the time 00:50:53.28\00:50:56.75 to see ourselves as Christ sees us 00:50:56.79\00:50:59.02 because we tend to look around, me head's around, 00:50:59.05\00:51:01.49 so I look at, I'm better than Gary. 00:51:01.52\00:51:03.29 I got Dee covered, she's got that past. 00:51:03.32\00:51:05.96 Boo, I'll talk about. 00:51:05.99\00:51:07.33 Okay, so I'm the top one here at the table. 00:51:07.36\00:51:09.16 But I'm not supposed to compare myself 00:51:09.20\00:51:10.80 with any of you. 00:51:10.83\00:51:12.17 I'm supposed to compare myself with Christ. 00:51:12.20\00:51:13.84 And only in doing that do I see myself as I really am 00:51:13.87\00:51:17.11 then I have a lot to worship for, 00:51:17.14\00:51:18.71 a lot to be thankful for 00:51:18.74\00:51:20.08 because I know He has forgiven me much. 00:51:20.11\00:51:21.58 Amen. 00:51:21.61\00:51:22.94 Every individual feels that they understand 00:51:22.98\00:51:25.55 how much they've been forgiven 00:51:25.58\00:51:27.15 when they are a spiritual Christian 00:51:27.18\00:51:28.68 and connected with the Lord. 00:51:28.72\00:51:30.05 Very true. 00:51:30.09\00:51:31.42 That each of us feels exactly the way each of us does 00:51:31.45\00:51:33.76 that we have been forgiven much, everyone. 00:51:33.79\00:51:36.99 And it's a shame that so many times, you know, 00:51:37.03\00:51:41.90 we look at our brothers and sisters 00:51:41.93\00:51:43.83 that have been with the Lord 00:51:43.87\00:51:45.20 and have made a change in their, 00:51:45.23\00:51:48.10 do you see the humility in that 00:51:48.14\00:51:50.84 and then we look at them as such, 00:51:50.87\00:51:53.21 "Oh he's just a goody goody. 00:51:53.24\00:51:55.41 He's trying to be biased." 00:51:55.44\00:51:57.41 And we're not only being wrong, 00:51:57.45\00:52:01.28 but we are really blaspheming God 00:52:01.32\00:52:05.42 in that attitude because... 00:52:05.45\00:52:07.72 God has changed them. Yes. 00:52:07.76\00:52:11.73 And we all go on different routes, 00:52:11.76\00:52:15.00 you know, different routes to come to Christ. 00:52:15.03\00:52:21.40 And He brings us where He knows 00:52:21.44\00:52:23.77 that we need to be brought. 00:52:23.81\00:52:27.01 So it's not for none of us to criticize that 00:52:27.04\00:52:31.21 and put that down 00:52:31.25\00:52:32.58 because what we're doing, we're putting down Christ. 00:52:32.61\00:52:34.98 Amen. 00:52:35.02\00:52:36.35 You know it just occurred to me, 00:52:36.38\00:52:38.22 this was the second alabaster box 00:52:38.25\00:52:41.12 that she'd broken. 00:52:41.16\00:52:43.26 Because, you know, you've heard that song 00:52:43.29\00:52:45.79 broken and poured out to Lord Jesus. 00:52:45.83\00:52:48.63 Just think that at one point when she met Jesus 00:52:48.66\00:52:52.17 and she looked into His eyes. 00:52:52.20\00:52:55.64 And she saw understanding, she saw a real love, 00:52:55.67\00:52:59.71 her heart was broken and poured out for Him. 00:52:59.74\00:53:03.55 I mean, in unreserved love. 00:53:03.58\00:53:06.05 And He recreated, I mean, it's just like our hearts 00:53:06.08\00:53:09.25 that alabaster box needs to be opened up, 00:53:09.28\00:53:12.69 it needs to be broken and poured out for Him. 00:53:12.72\00:53:15.62 Yes. 00:53:15.66\00:53:17.56 What a joy to know that, you know, she came as, 00:53:17.59\00:53:22.76 you know, I think we look at our own past 00:53:22.80\00:53:25.43 because we know ourselves better than anybody else. 00:53:25.47\00:53:27.50 We can be like Paul saying, 00:53:27.54\00:53:28.94 "Lord, I'm the chief of sinners." 00:53:28.97\00:53:31.64 But it is such a joy to know that God will be praised. 00:53:31.67\00:53:35.31 Yeah, but it's just about time 00:53:35.34\00:53:37.31 when do, we are able to do that, 00:53:37.35\00:53:39.81 that Christ gone with All His love. 00:53:39.85\00:53:42.18 Amen. 00:53:42.22\00:53:43.55 And He says, "Child, I love you. 00:53:43.59\00:53:46.59 You are okay now." 00:53:46.62\00:53:47.96 Amen. Amen. 00:53:47.99\00:53:49.32 And He has the power to keep us now. 00:53:49.36\00:53:53.76 Let's run the table. 00:53:53.80\00:53:55.13 We're down to our last minute 00:53:55.16\00:53:56.50 so everybody give me that one or two lines 00:53:56.53\00:53:58.53 and we kind of pull a little bow on this. 00:53:58.57\00:54:01.27 Well, I just like, I just read this earlier. 00:54:01.30\00:54:05.07 And it answers your question right there. 00:54:05.11\00:54:08.41 Mary knew not the full significance 00:54:08.44\00:54:10.01 of her deed of love. 00:54:10.05\00:54:11.38 She could not answer her accuser. 00:54:11.41\00:54:12.75 She could not explain 00:54:12.78\00:54:14.12 why she had chosen that occasion 00:54:14.15\00:54:15.52 for anointing Jesus. 00:54:15.55\00:54:17.35 The Holy Spirit. 00:54:17.39\00:54:19.69 The Holy Spirit had planned for her 00:54:19.72\00:54:21.62 and she had obeyed His promise. 00:54:21.66\00:54:23.76 His promptings. 00:54:23.79\00:54:25.13 Inspiration stoops to give no reason. 00:54:25.16\00:54:26.96 An unseen presence, it speaks to mind and soul, 00:54:27.00\00:54:29.56 and moves the heart to action. 00:54:29.60\00:54:31.23 It's its own justification. 00:54:31.27\00:54:33.00 Amen. Amen. 00:54:33.03\00:54:34.37 Well said. Thank you, Jesus. 00:54:34.40\00:54:35.74 Well said. Shelley? Amen. 00:54:35.77\00:54:37.11 Worship prompted by love and gratitude 00:54:37.14\00:54:40.28 is what Jesus is looking for. 00:54:40.31\00:54:42.11 And the fragrance of a life 00:54:42.14\00:54:44.88 that is lived in obedience to Him. 00:54:44.91\00:54:49.45 Yes, well, I'd say, let's not discourage. 00:54:49.48\00:54:53.99 Let's be totally encouraged 00:54:54.02\00:54:57.09 because Christ wants us to be like He is. 00:54:57.13\00:55:01.50 And He will never leave anything unturned 00:55:01.53\00:55:06.37 to bring us there. 00:55:06.40\00:55:07.74 Amen. 00:55:07.77\00:55:09.10 And when we are there, we are going to really 00:55:09.14\00:55:11.41 experience that joy and that worship 00:55:11.44\00:55:15.24 that He deserves. 00:55:15.28\00:55:18.05 I think He... 00:55:18.08\00:55:19.41 This story just gives hope to everyone. 00:55:19.45\00:55:20.88 Yes. It shows you God's love. 00:55:20.92\00:55:24.32 Not only His love for you but that He has the power. 00:55:24.35\00:55:28.69 I worship a powerful God. Amen. 00:55:28.72\00:55:31.49 And He has enough power to not only save me 00:55:31.53\00:55:34.66 but He has the power to protect me. 00:55:34.70\00:55:37.27 He takes that old life that is so painful 00:55:37.30\00:55:40.90 and He fills you with joy. 00:55:40.94\00:55:43.37 And it's just walking whatever, 00:55:43.41\00:55:45.37 He has a very special path for each person. 00:55:45.41\00:55:48.04 And I think in this story, 00:55:48.08\00:55:50.18 He is showing so many different lives 00:55:50.21\00:55:52.11 in so many different ways 00:55:52.15\00:55:53.52 everyone can see themselves somewhere in this story 00:55:53.55\00:55:57.15 and have redemption 00:55:57.19\00:55:59.15 no matter where you're at or what you're doing. 00:55:59.19\00:56:01.22 Amen. Amen. 00:56:01.26\00:56:02.86 Jesus forgave us much, so we should love much. 00:56:02.89\00:56:05.96 Amen. 00:56:05.99\00:56:07.33 And we should show Him, 00:56:07.36\00:56:08.70 just the way the Bible tells us, 00:56:08.73\00:56:10.07 "But if you love Me, keep My commandments." 00:56:10.10\00:56:11.57 And keeping commandments is showing love to Him 00:56:11.60\00:56:14.80 and then love to those our fellow men. 00:56:14.84\00:56:16.71 Yeah, well done. Well said. 00:56:16.74\00:56:18.67 We are called by Christ 00:56:18.71\00:56:20.04 to be a pathway of grace to others. 00:56:20.08\00:56:22.74 The love that has been shown to us, 00:56:22.78\00:56:24.51 we need to show to others. 00:56:24.55\00:56:25.95 The forgiveness that has been shown to us, 00:56:25.98\00:56:27.85 we need to show to others. 00:56:27.88\00:56:29.45 The patience that Christ has shown to us, 00:56:29.48\00:56:32.35 we need to show it to others. 00:56:32.39\00:56:33.72 And if we would but attempt to exemplify these traits 00:56:33.76\00:56:38.39 how much nicer we would be, how much sweeter we would be, 00:56:38.43\00:56:41.90 how much sweeter the world would be. 00:56:41.93\00:56:44.57 We are told by Ellen White. 00:56:44.60\00:56:47.94 She says, "If we were kind, 00:56:47.97\00:56:49.60 tender, hearted, pitiful, loving, 00:56:49.64\00:56:51.84 there would be 100 sessions to the truth of God 00:56:51.87\00:56:55.28 where now there is only one. 00:56:55.31\00:56:57.78 Sometimes the greatest hindrance 00:56:57.81\00:56:59.71 to individuals coming to the Lord 00:56:59.75\00:57:01.55 are those who are already in the Lord, 00:57:01.58\00:57:03.39 but not living like the Lord and not showing God's love. 00:57:03.42\00:57:07.36 The greatest thing that Christ could say to anyone, 00:57:07.39\00:57:09.92 He said to Mary there in Luke 8:48, 00:57:09.96\00:57:15.56 "Then he said to her, Your sins are forgiven." 00:57:15.60\00:57:21.04 That's Luke 7. 00:57:21.07\00:57:22.40 I'm sorry it's 7.48, yes, Luke 7.48. 00:57:22.44\00:57:25.07 "Your sins are forgiven." 00:57:25.11\00:57:28.14 Nothing better. That's what I want to hear. 00:57:28.18\00:57:29.51 I'm sure that's what everyone wants to hear also. 00:57:29.54\00:57:32.51 Again our time has run out. We'll see you again next time. 00:57:32.55\00:57:35.58 Stay faithful and keep on loving Jesus. 00:57:35.62\00:57:38.05 Amen. 00:57:38.09\00:57:40.02
