Amen. Wow. 05:44 Jill, would you like to open in prayer, please? 05:47 Sure. 05:48 Holy Father, we come before You in the name of Jesus, 05:51 and we thank You for the privilege of Sabbath. 05:53 We thank You for the privilege of coming apart 05:56 and spending this time with You. 05:59 We invite Your presence, 06:01 we want to come before You with praise 06:03 and enter your gates with Thanksgiving 06:06 for who You are 06:07 and for what You've done for us, 06:09 for Your redemption, and salvation, 06:11 and the privilege we have 06:13 of being called Your sons and daughters. 06:16 Just now, we ask 06:18 that You would open up our minds, our understanding, 06:21 as we open up Your Word 06:23 and share with our brothers and sisters. 06:25 We thank you. 06:26 In the precious and holy name of Jesus. 06:29 Amen. Amen. 06:31 Amen. 06:32 Well, what we're talking about tonight 06:35 is the battle belongs to God. 06:38 And I want to read to you an affirmation, 06:43 it's going to take all of the scriptures 06:44 that we're talking about. 06:46 And this is just, when we take God's Word 06:50 and we confess it over our life, 06:52 that's an affirmation of His faithfulness, 06:56 that He is the one 06:58 who will work these things in our life. 07:02 But here's how it sounds 07:03 if you put all these scriptures together. 07:06 "When someone or some... 07:08 When something or someone opposes 07:10 the good plan God has for my life, 07:13 I realize my struggle is not against flesh and blood 07:17 but against spiritual forces of the evil," 07:19 I can't even talk, 07:21 "evil operating within the world system. 07:25 I take my stand without fear, 07:28 the battle is the Lord's 07:29 and he will give me the victory. 07:32 God is my very present help in times of trouble. 07:35 I put my hope in His Word knowing 07:38 through Him 07:40 I will push back the enemy. 07:42 I have trust and confidence in God's power 07:45 and authority over all situations." 07:48 You know, I remember 07:50 when the Lord first was giving me 07:52 this affirmation and it was a time that I, 07:56 I mean, I needed it 07:57 because something was going on and it's amazing. 08:01 As you take God's word 08:03 and as you begin to pray God's word 08:06 back to Him and speak it over your life, 08:09 how it totally transforms 08:14 the way you're thinking. 08:15 And all of a sudden, 08:17 it was like I went from kind of cowering in the, 08:20 in the corner to thinking, 08:22 "I don't have anything to worry about. 08:24 God's got me covered here." 08:26 And so we wanted to look at some of the scriptures. 08:30 And, Mollie Sue, 08:32 I think we're going to let you kick it off 08:34 with Ephesians 6:12-13. 08:38 So Ephesians 6:12-13. 08:42 And, Shelley, you had this in the NIV, 08:45 so I am going to use that. 08:47 And I want to start with verse 12, 08:52 kind of break it down, and then we'll go to verse 13. 08:55 So let's read verse 12, 08:57 "For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, 09:01 but against the rulers, against the authorities, 09:05 against the powers of this dark world, 09:09 and against the spiritual forces of evil 09:12 in the heavenly realms." 09:13 Now if you all are like me, I learned God's word without, 09:18 with just the King James Version of the Bible, 09:20 that's still my favorite, the King James. 09:23 So this is worded a little differently 09:25 but the same base is there. 09:29 And I really like the way this, you know this is worded. 09:34 These verses describe the spiritual battle 09:38 that exists in the lives of all believers. 09:42 Now if you don't think you're in a battle, 09:46 if you're not in a battle at this moment, you will be. 09:49 And if you, if you weren't yesterday, 09:51 praise God 09:52 because we are all, as all believers, 09:56 we have to fight what? 09:58 The good fight of faith. 09:59 And so Paul is simply affirming 10:03 our battle is spiritual and not physical. 10:06 It is so easy for us 10:09 to lose sight of that fact. 10:12 It is. And it's a fact. 10:14 It is not a physical battle. 10:17 But when your neighbor 10:19 is causing you all sorts of grief, 10:21 it feels like it's a physical battle 10:24 but what you don't do 10:25 is go next door and pull up your neighbor, 10:27 you go to your knees in prayer. 10:29 Now that's what you do. 10:32 Because it's not a physical battle, 10:34 it's a spiritual battle. 10:36 The enemies we face ultimately are not people or objects. 10:41 The devil may use people as part of his attack, 10:45 but our true enemy isn't other people, 10:48 our enemy is spiritual in nature. 10:51 I'm reading this. 10:52 And now what Paul does in this scripture, 10:56 what is, he identifies the spiritual enemies, 11:02 and that's what I want to go over with you. 11:04 And I want you all to kick in anything 11:06 you want to add. 11:07 I tell my Sabbath School class 11:09 where you've got a group of maybe 20 people, 11:12 the teacher only knows this much. 11:14 And every one of the people 11:16 who's, they know, so you put it all together 11:19 and it's so much more effective. 11:21 Amen. 11:22 Okay, Paul identifies the spiritual enemies. 11:25 This list is interpreted 11:28 as a ranking of demonic armies 11:32 or demonic forces. 11:34 Rulers seems to indicate a top level. 11:37 "We wrestle not," 11:39 I'm going to have to go back to the King James 11:40 because that's what I memorized. 11:42 "We wrestle not with flesh and blood, 11:45 but we wrestle 11:46 with principalities, with powers, 11:48 with the rulers of darkness of this world, 11:50 spiritual wickedness in high places." 11:53 Now what it said here in the NIV, 11:55 "Rulers, authorities, powers of this world, 11:59 and spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realm." 12:03 And what that is, that's rankings. 12:05 Now think about this, sometimes we will say, 12:08 "Oh, the devil's been after me all day long." 12:11 And you know, 12:12 demonic forces have been after you all day long. 12:14 Amen, because the devil is not omnipresent, 12:17 he is just one little angel. 12:19 Well, I don't want to, I don't want to say anything, 12:21 he is one angel, he's a powerful angel, 12:23 but he can't be at all places at all times. 12:24 Yeah, his might have. 12:25 Yeah, his hordes and forces have been after you. 12:32 But Jesus, when He was in the wilderness, 12:37 who confronted Him? 12:39 Devil himself. The devil himself. 12:40 That's right. 12:42 Now I will never put myself on the same level 12:44 as the Lord Jesus Christ. 12:46 But am I tormented 12:49 by the forces of hell and the powers of darkness, 12:51 Yes, I am. 12:52 Principalities, the little dudes 12:54 that run around, that attack us or powers, 12:57 the ones that may go after the pastor. 13:01 Principalities, powers, rulers of darkness, 13:05 that's, and it's all over the world. 13:08 If you've ever been to some countries 13:11 where voodoo maybe is the... 13:13 Yes, absolutely. 13:15 Is the religion of the country, 13:18 you can feel the oppressiveness in those countries, 13:22 and then spiritual wickedness in high places. 13:24 So that is the kind of categorizing 13:28 or ranking of demonic forces. 13:30 But then that's telling us what we're fighting against. 13:35 But verse 13, now let's go to 13. 13:38 It says, "Therefore," do something, what is it? 13:41 "Put on the full armor of God, 13:45 so that when the day of evil comes," 13:47 you may not be in the day of the evil, 13:48 but this assures you that the day of evil will come, 13:52 "you may be able to stand your ground, 13:54 and after you've done everything." 13:56 King James says after you've done all to stand. 14:00 Now the point I want to make in this, 14:03 now put on the whole armor of God, 14:05 I just want you to know here is the arsenal that you go to, 14:10 the armory I think it is, the armory that you go to, 14:15 to get your armor, to get all of this 14:17 that God has made available to you. 14:20 And now, today is your day of preparation. 14:24 When you're in a pleasant meadow, 14:26 when things are peaceful, 14:28 that's when you arm yourself 14:31 because if you wait till you're in a battle... 14:34 Yes. 14:35 You can't run to put your armor on. 14:37 You don't memorize scripture when your head is buzzing 14:41 with all that's going on around you. 14:43 You memorize that scripture a little here, a little there, 14:46 layer after layer, through the years, 14:48 so that when the enemy comes against you, 14:50 you don't have to go try to find you a scripture, 14:53 it bubbles up out of you 14:55 because you have armed yourself. 14:57 Now again, this word is your armory, this... 15:02 And I want to read something to you about the Word, 15:05 that's in Proverbs 6:20-22. 15:08 Shelley, I wanted to end with this. 15:10 This is in Proverbs, "My Son..." 15:15 Where did you say? Proverbs 6:20-22. 15:19 Okay. 15:21 "My son, keep your Father's command." 15:24 Now what are the Father's commands? 15:27 It's this Word. That's right. 15:29 "My Son, keep the word of God," 15:31 keep this word that your father has given to you. 15:34 "Do not forsake your mother's teaching." 15:37 What was Bathsheba teaching? 15:40 She was teaching the Word of God. 15:42 "Bind them always on your heart," 15:45 bind what on your heart? 15:46 God's word "Fasten them around your neck. 15:50 When you walk," 15:52 and this is one of my favorite scriptures, 15:54 Proverbs 6:22, 15:56 "When you walk they will guide you," Yes. 15:59 What will guide you? 16:00 This Word that you planted in your heart, 16:03 this Word that you've memorized, 16:05 this armor of God that He has given you 16:09 to come against all these forces of hell 16:11 that have been unleashed against us. 16:13 "When you walk they will guide you, 16:15 when you sleep they'll watch over you, 16:18 and when you're awake they'll speak to you." 16:21 So that's the power of God's Word, 16:23 to watch over you and protect you. 16:25 So if you're going to stand during the battle, 16:28 the Bible says, "Come and get..." 16:31 Or Paul is telling us, 16:32 put on the armor that God has made. 16:35 Let me just say this, there was, it says, 16:40 "When you've done all to stand, stand therefore." 16:44 Okay, do you watch this, 16:45 this little guy down in Kentucky, 16:49 and he had bought him a horse. 16:51 It was all swaybacked horse, 16:52 you know, that horse used to be a race horse, 16:54 but it was no sway, it had seen its best days. 16:57 But he took that horse to the races, 17:00 he took it to the Kentucky Derby, 17:02 and he had his horse over at the corral, 17:06 looking at these other big majestic horses 17:09 and this guy was just kind of feeling sorry for him, 17:11 he said, "Son, can that horse run fast?" 17:15 He said, "No, but it sure can stand fast." 17:18 Sometimes, watch your circumstance or situation 17:22 as you may not be able to run fast, 17:24 honey, you stand fast. 17:25 Amen. Amen. 17:27 You know, I'd like to bring up a point. 17:28 That's fantastic, Mollie, great teaching right there. 17:31 Amen But boy, another teaching 17:33 is whenever you were saying be prepared, 17:36 something happened this morning. 17:39 I'm not going to date this program 17:41 but it's one degree here. 17:44 I think you dated it. 17:46 And I mean, there is four inches of snow, 17:49 and probably an inch of ice underneath that. 17:52 And people yesterday, 17:54 Joe noticed 17:56 that we had three or four people 17:57 that slipped on the ice. 17:59 I mean it's rough right here. 18:00 And, so anyway came into work this morning, and Joe, Bryan 18:03 who works in the pastoral department, 18:06 he came up to me and he says, 18:08 "Hey, you mind, could I borrow these today." 18:10 Well, there was a pair of ice cleats. 18:13 The irony of this is, 18:15 is that last year we both bought ice cleats, 18:19 sometimes you got more money than you got sense. 18:22 I don't remember when but... 18:23 Well, anyway we both bought ice cleats, 18:26 never in a million years would I ever thought 18:28 about using ice cleats. 18:30 We need ice cleats, and so yesterday, 18:33 he says, "Hey, have you got your ice cleats out?" 18:38 And it's kind of like, "Duh, I've got ice cleats, 18:44 but I have no idea where those ice cleats are." 18:48 And this morning, bless his heart, 18:50 he brings his ice cleats for me to use. 18:52 Okay, feeling sorry for me. 18:54 The point is, lots of times 18:57 we can buy everything to be ready, 19:00 but when the time is really needed, 19:03 "Where did I put em'?" 19:05 And so, you know, you can learn this Word, 19:08 but you might just put it under a bushel some place. 19:12 And then I found out the other day, 19:13 I'm so proud of myself, 19:15 'cause I was looking 19:16 at don't put a light under a bushel, 19:18 what in the world is a bushel? 19:19 'Cause a former thinks underneath grain, 19:22 it's an obsolete word meaning Bowl. 19:26 So don't put your lamp underneath the bowl 19:28 'cause you can't see anything, 19:29 you know, it's not going to shine. 19:30 So if you, if you take the time to learn 19:34 what the Lord has given me here, 19:36 a guide, a guide book to life. 19:40 Have it where you put your hands on it 19:42 and now say, "Well, you know, 19:43 I've got it at someplace but I don't know where it is." 19:47 Anyway, great lesson. 19:49 And boy, it just jumped out at me. 19:51 And so today I got my ice cleats. 19:54 All right. 19:55 I got, let me clarify that, 19:58 I got Joe's ice cleats. 20:01 But you know the beautiful thing is God 20:02 wants us to stand in the armor that He has given to us. 20:06 And you think this armor is free for the taking, 20:09 as it were for the asking, for the putting on. 20:13 And how many times do 20:14 we run out without clothing ourselves 20:17 with the armor that God has given to us. 20:19 One of the most powerful things 20:20 I love to do is actually to pray these Scriptures. 20:23 And when I pray them, 20:24 "Thank You, God, for the helmet of salvation," 20:27 and pray over that, 20:28 and pray over the sort of the spirit 20:30 in the breastplate of righteousness, 20:32 and truth about our loin, and so as you pray over that, 20:35 it's almost as if we are being closed 20:38 with the Word of God and with the power 20:41 that He is given us. 20:42 To give us the victory in the battle 20:44 and that's just incredible. 20:46 Amen. Amen. 20:48 As we should pray daily. Yeah. 20:50 So my scripture is 2 Chronicles, 20:53 if you want to turn it into a 2 Chronicles 20, 20:57 and the two verses are 15 and 17. 20:59 But if I may, I want to back up just a little bit in verse, 21:02 in chapter 20. 21:04 And to me, verses 15 and 17 are kind of the climax 21:09 of what's been going on here in the chapter. 21:12 But if we look at what Jehoshaphat did. 21:14 If we look at verse 1, 21:16 it talks about the people of Moab, 21:18 the people of Ammon, 21:19 and the Ammonites came to battle against him. 21:21 So he's the king, 21:23 he's responsible for all these people 21:25 who are under him. 21:26 And all of a sudden coming against them is a great battle. 21:29 So you think, 21:30 have you ever faced a battle at home? 21:32 I know, I certainly have. 21:34 Every day we have battles, and the battles come against us 21:37 whether we are like the king in charge of people 21:40 or we are just in charge of ourselves, 21:41 we still have a battle that comes against us. 21:46 And so Jehoshaphat instead of falling apart, 21:49 instead of not wringing his hands, 21:51 or going out to battle, Let's look at what he does. 21:55 I think there is four things 21:56 he does before he comes to verse 15. 22:00 The first thing he does is he remembers 22:02 what God did in the past. 22:03 We see that in verses 6,7. 22:08 Jehoshaphat had set a fast and proclaimed all the people 22:11 to seek the Lord. 22:12 And then verse 6, 22:13 he reminds God what God did for them before. 22:16 He said, "Lord God of your fathers, 22:18 are You not God in heaven, 22:20 do You not rule over the kingdoms 22:22 of the nations? 22:23 And in Your hand is not power and might. 22:25 No one is able to withstand You. 22:28 Are You not our God 22:30 who drove out the inhabitants of this land 22:34 before your people Israel 22:36 and gave it to the descendants of Abraham, 22:38 your friend forever." 22:39 So Jehoshaphat is almost reminding God, 22:42 what God did in the past. 22:44 Now God doesn't need to be reminded, 22:46 Miss Mollie, of what he has done, 22:48 he already knows. 22:50 It is for Jehoshaphat faith to look back 22:54 and to remember what God did in the past. 22:56 So you might be facing a huge battle, 23:00 look back and say what has God done in the past, 23:03 how has He answered a prayer in the past. 23:06 And remember that, 23:07 remember those past victories that's number one. 23:09 Number two, he stated a promise, 23:11 from God's word. 23:13 So in other words he claimed a promise 23:15 over what he was dealing with. 23:17 We see that in verses 8-9, he quotes scripture. 23:21 It talks about, 23:22 "They dwell in it 23:24 and have built a sanctuary for it 23:25 in your name saying," verse nine, 23:26 "If disaster comes upon us, 23:28 so are judgment, pestilence, or famine, 23:31 we will stand before this temple 23:33 and in Your presence 23:35 and cry out to You in our affliction 23:37 and You will hear and save. 23:39 So he claims a promise from the Word of God. 23:41 Something previously that he had already read, 23:44 and that he had studied. 23:45 So when we face our battle 23:47 we remember what God did in the past. 23:49 Then we claim a promise from God's word pertaining 23:53 to the battle that we're dealing with. 23:55 Number three, he stated the problem. 23:57 That's in verse 10, and he just reminds God, 24:00 all these people Ammon, Moab, Mount Seir, 24:03 they have come against us. 24:05 He reminds God. 24:06 Here they are verse 11, 24:08 and wanting to throw us out of this heritance. 24:10 And then number four, 24:12 he'd simply make the request before God, 24:14 we see that in verse 12. 24:16 He says, "Oh, our God, will you not judge them." 24:18 meaning the people who are coming against him. 24:21 We have no power against this multitude 24:24 for we do not know what to do, our eyes are upon You. 24:28 And you know when we're in battle, 24:31 when we don't know what to do, 24:33 we remember what God did in the past. 24:36 We remember a promise from His Word. 24:38 Then we say, 24:39 "God, this is my problem right now 24:42 and here is my request, I don't even know what to do." 24:45 And then look at what God says, the prophet speaks 24:48 and here is our verses 15 and 17. 24:51 "This is the Spirit of the Lord came upon Jahaziel. 24:55 So this is what Jahaziel said, 24:57 "Listen, all you of Judah, 24:59 and you inhabitants of Jerusalem, 25:01 and you king Jehoshaphat, thus says the Lord to you, 25:06 "Do not be afraid nor dismayed 25:08 because of this great multitude." 25:10 Don't worry about the battle, 25:12 don't worry about the things going on in life, 25:13 don't worry 25:15 that the problem seems insurmountable, why? 25:18 For the battle is not yours, but it is God's. 25:23 The word for dismayed, 25:24 it says "Do not be afraid nor dismayed." 25:26 In Hebrew dismayed means shattered or dismayed, 25:30 and sometimes battles, problems, they can shatter us. 25:33 Wow, God, I don't even know what to do here, 25:36 I am completely shattered, I am completely undone. 25:41 And what does it say, "We don't have to be shattered. 25:43 We don't have to be dismayed. We don't have to be afraid. 25:47 The battle is not ours, it belongs to God." 25:49 And then verse 17, 25:51 "You will not need to fight in this battle." 25:55 "Position yourselves," or set yourselves, 25:58 "Stand still and see the salvation of the Lord 26:03 who is with you," 26:04 "Oh, Judah and Jerusalem do not fear or be dismayed. 26:08 Tomorrow go out against them," 26:10 why, "For the Lord is with you." 26:14 So I don't know what battle you're facing today, 26:17 but you don't have to be afraid. 26:19 You can go forward in the strength of God, 26:22 knowing that He has your back, that He has the front, 26:26 and that He has this battle. 26:28 Amen. Amen, wonderful. 26:30 So he remembered the past, he claimed the promise, 26:33 he stated the problem, 26:35 he made his request, God spoke to him. 26:36 Yeah, and then he stood still. 26:38 Absolutely, that's good, that's good. 26:39 The battle belongs to the Lord. 26:43 Louise, I believe you've got Exodus 14:14. 26:46 I do, I have Exodus 14:14. 26:49 And you know when you called me for this program 26:52 and The Battle Belongs To God. 26:54 Just yesterday, I received an email 26:56 that somebody sent me, they said that, 26:59 "Fear is the enemies greatest tool." 27:02 You know, when I'm reading through that 27:04 and I'm talking and I'm wondering, 27:05 and all of a sudden, you called me, you send me, 27:08 you know, an invite a while back, 27:10 and then I remembered. 27:12 If the battle belongs to God, 27:15 then where does fear fit into the equation? 27:19 You know, I went back and I'll read that, 27:22 let me read that first 27:23 'cause Exodus 14:14, "The Lord will fight for you." 27:29 You know, that's what you ladies 27:30 have been talking about. 27:31 God will fight for you. 27:33 He tells you all the time, don't fear and instead, 27:35 but guess what you get to do? Oh. 27:37 Oh, this is... This is the beautiful part. 27:39 And you shall hold your peace. 27:42 You see, many of us feel 27:44 that we need to do something in this battle. 27:47 When we are, 27:49 usually when you are in the Army, 27:50 I don't know, there's the individuals, 27:52 I have never been, 27:53 but I know that you need to take commands 27:55 from the leaders, from the General, 27:57 and then you just follow through. 27:59 You don't get to insert your battle plans, 28:02 you don't get to make your own decisions, 28:05 you don't get to go chase a rabbit, 28:07 you know, idea on your side. 28:09 You follow exactly what the Generals 28:12 and what all the leaders before you put together. 28:15 So the same thing happens here. 28:17 When you, when the battle belongs to God, 28:20 your job is to sit back, 28:23 your job is to take and learn the manual, 28:26 make sure that you're following 28:28 the manual that God has put together for you, 28:31 and make sure that you don't follow it partly, 28:35 you don't take pieces here 28:37 and pieces there to fit your, your way of life. 28:41 You will follow 100%. 28:43 When you put in the armor of God, 28:45 you're making sure that it is God 28:47 who is being seen through you, 28:48 not you who is being seen through God. 28:51 And when I looked at this, and I look at my past, 28:53 and I come from a communist country, 28:55 and I have seen the way God works. 29:00 I have studied, I have, we started, 29:03 started a church back in Shreveport, Spanish church. 29:08 And I remember one day 29:09 where we're brought this pastor, 29:11 I know I've mentioned that before, 29:13 but we brought this pastor and nobody was showing up, 29:16 and we made all this expenses. 29:18 I went to pray, and I went praying, 29:19 and that church got filled completely 29:22 because when you are, 29:24 when you allow God to fight your battles, 29:28 that's when you're going to see the victories. 29:30 You know, a few weeks ago 29:32 I'm coming out of the prison ministry 29:34 and there's this one guy that does not want to come back 29:37 and he says, "I'm sorry, you believe in the law 29:40 and we are under grace, we're no longer, 29:42 you have nothing to teach me, I'm not going to come back. 29:45 I came out of there so heartbroken. 29:48 And as I am driving, I said, "Lord, I cannot win them all." 29:53 and He says, 29:54 "Excuse me, I am God, and they're my Children. 29:58 And you are not the one that who does the winning." 30:00 "You're the one that does the seeding, 30:03 I'm the one that takes care of everything. 30:04 The battle belongs to me, not you. 30:08 You need to be faithful 30:09 and watch me show you the victory." 30:12 So when we look at this aspect and we understand that fear 30:17 should never enter into our hearts. 30:21 How easy is that to say? 30:23 Easy to say, hard to do. How hard is that to do? 30:27 You know, when you're coming out of, 30:29 when we moved from Cuba to Costa Rica, 30:32 Jill, we couldn't take anything out. 30:35 We had the clothes that was in our back, 30:38 we had maybe one bag of clothing. 30:40 And we're going to a country 30:42 that we don't know who the individuals are. 30:44 Wow. 30:45 When we moved from Costa Rica to Canada, 30:48 we're going, my father thought we're going to the North Pole, 30:51 'cause I mean, that's where you see in the map. 30:53 And I remember my father in the Chicago Airport 30:56 crying like I've never seen him cry 30:58 because not only was it winter, 31:02 it was about five feet of snow in the ground, 31:05 we had no idea about the language. 31:08 The only word, the only phrase I knew in English was sit down, 31:12 that's the only thing that I knew to say in English. 31:14 And we're coming into this harsh environment. 31:17 So if you don't understand that the battle belongs to God, 31:21 then you have not tested, you have not followed exactly 31:26 what the instructions are talking about. 31:28 Because when we look 31:30 at every individuals in the Bible 31:32 like you have just read, the only time 31:35 that they actually experienced victory, 31:37 the only times that they actually understood, 31:39 it's when they were following 31:41 the complete battle instructions, 31:44 and that's when the enemy sends the different commanders, 31:49 and He keeps on raising the bars of individuals. 31:52 Maybe right now you're only dealing with, 31:54 you know, the lower commands of the enemy, 31:58 but as you start being the head elder, 32:00 as you start being the in-charge, 32:02 as you start being the GM of 3ABN, 32:05 I'm quite sure, Miss Mollie, that when you first started, 32:08 and I know Miss Jil is experiencing 32:10 probably this at this moment, your battle started exclament, 32:15 you know, greater and greater as you started relying 32:19 more and more on God. 32:20 And this is what this tells you. 32:23 Stop, analyze your life, look at who's in charge, 32:29 and then if that's His battle, 32:31 sit back and enjoy all the benefits. 32:34 You know, the part of this scripture 32:38 that gets me 32:39 when he says the Lord will fight for you, 32:41 you shall hold your peace. 32:43 I think there are times when we get under attack. 32:45 And what we like to do is rehearse our problem. 32:48 We like to whine, 32:50 we like to tell people all about it in the, 32:53 "Oh, fate! Oh, it's me?" 32:55 You know, you know what I'm saying. 32:57 Oh, yeah. 32:58 And I think sometimes 33:01 we are not very good witnesses for the Lord 33:07 when, I mean, there's one thing just to state your case, 33:11 but when you just continually rehearse a problem, 33:14 it's like you don't have faith that God is really working. 33:17 So when He says hold your peace, 33:20 I think, sometimes He is talking about lock it up. 33:24 Yeah, you can talk yourself right out of faith. 33:26 You can read God's Word. 33:29 And when you start rehearsing your problem, 33:31 what you're rehearsing it, what you're talking 33:33 about becomes bigger than this Word 33:35 that you keep in your heart. 33:37 Keep your mouth shut, 33:38 take advantage of every opportunity 33:40 to keep your mouth shut. 33:44 As Jason so often, 33:46 Jason Bradley so often reminds us, 33:49 "God made us with two ears and one mouth, 33:51 so we ought to be doing twice as much listening as talking." 33:54 Amen. Amen. 33:56 Thank you so much, Louise, that's good thoughts, 33:59 good thoughts. 34:00 JD? 34:01 Okay, I've got two scriptures here. 34:04 But I'm going to give you five. Fair enough? 34:07 Because they're short and they're good. 34:09 One of the big issues 34:11 that we come back today is bullying. 34:13 You know, a lot of people understand bullying, 34:17 how it is to be pushed around 34:18 when somebody and you've done nothing wrong. 34:20 Well, boy, there's a spiritual bullying going on all the time. 34:24 You know, there's those little nets 34:26 that are just going around, 34:27 you're just flatting all the time, 34:29 it's called harassment, you know. 34:30 And there's an enemy just trying to wear us down, 34:32 wear us down. 34:33 Do we have any value? 34:36 I'm going to give you these scriptures, 34:37 you can write them down 34:39 if you'd like to write them down, 34:40 then we'll just take a little trip together. 34:42 Psalms 46:1, Psalms 46:1. 34:46 Nahum 1:7, 34:48 Nahum 1:7. 34:52 Psalms 23:4, 34:57 Isaiah 40:29, 35:00 and Psalms 48:14. 35:04 Now we're going to take a little trip real quick, 35:05 all right? 35:07 48:14? That's Psalms 48:14. 35:11 And I'm just going to go through them, 35:12 you got your homework assignments, 35:14 you can connect your dots. 35:16 Psalms 46:1, the very first one, 35:19 "God is our refuge and our strength." 35:21 Remember, we're talking about bullying, 35:23 whether it be on this earth, 35:25 whether it be out here in this spiritual realm, 35:28 "God is our refuge and our strength, 35:30 a very present help in the time of trouble." 35:32 Oh, thank you, Jesus, that we can call you. 35:35 Remember that He's a present help. 35:37 He's not saying, 35:38 "Hey, let me go have lunch 35:39 and then I'll get back with you." 35:42 Very present help in the time of trouble. 35:44 But we also need to remember that the Lord is good, 35:47 He's a stronghold in the day of trouble. 35:49 So whenever that bullying comes, 35:51 whatever that issue is, 35:52 a stronghold in the day of trouble 35:54 and He knows those that trust Him. 35:57 Well, now we just take that era, 35:59 if you put this on a white board, 36:00 put all these in a white board, and we take that era, 36:03 He knows those that trust him. 36:05 Now we go right back to 46:1, 36:07 "He is our refuge and our strength, 36:09 and He is a very present help in the time of trouble." 36:12 But then we remember that, "Wait a minute, JD, 36:16 I've given you that special promise 36:18 in Psalms 23:4" 36:20 "Yea, though I walk 36:21 through the valley of the shadow of death..." 36:23 Let's just add this on there. 36:25 "Yea, though I walk 36:27 through the valley of the shadow of death," 36:28 yea, whether it be the shadow of fear, 36:31 I will fear no evil, 36:32 "For You are with me," and then he's saying that, 36:36 "Your," talking about God, okay. 36:40 He's," Jesus," I'll take out that big old wooden club, 36:45 I got that staff 36:46 that'll keep you strong on your feet. 36:49 Because I know 36:50 that you're there to comfort me. 36:52 Boy, what a promise! That's right. 36:54 You know, I don't care 36:55 if the enemy's got a big stick and he comes after you. 36:59 God's got a bigger stick. Amen. 37:01 In fact, I understand that He could just blow on him. 37:04 That's right. 37:06 But anyway, and they could disappear. 37:09 Amen. 37:10 I mean, that's got my respect. 37:14 And then Isaiah 40:29, "He gives power to the weak." 37:20 So you know, sometimes as strong as you think 37:22 that you may be, 37:24 but He does give power to the weak 37:25 and to those who have no might. 37:27 "He increases their strength." 37:30 And then in ending, "For this is God, 37:33 our God forever and ever," 37:36 and it makes, you know, He'll be with us today, 37:39 He'll be with us tomorrow, He'll even be with us in death. 37:44 What a bunch of promises that you can take to the bank. 37:47 Amen. Amen. 37:49 So I know that there's been sometimes 37:51 when you and I had to just hold fast 37:53 to these promises. 37:55 Oh, my goodness. My goodness. 37:56 And trust them 37:57 that God would be who He says He will be. 38:01 I think mine kind of bounces off that. 38:05 So let's look at the scripture 38:08 that I want to share with you is 38:13 Psalm 119:114. 38:18 And the Psalmist says, speaking to God, 38:23 "You are my hiding place and my shield. 38:28 I hope in Your Word." 38:31 You know when you think about what is he saying here. 38:37 He's saying, "God, you are my protector. 38:42 You are my refuge. You are my asylum." 38:49 And we hide within His protection 38:54 from those who would harm us. 38:56 You know, you think of all the people, 38:59 the Bible characters who've been through this, 39:01 but it's something 39:02 that's going on in your life and my life right now 39:05 that God is our hiding place. 39:09 And so, he says, 39:11 but he doesn't just say you are my hiding place, 39:13 he says, "You are my shield" 39:16 So, God will take care of us, 39:19 he will cover us with His shield of protection 39:23 that will protect us 39:25 from the fiery darts of the enemy, right? 39:29 That's right. 39:31 He will protect us from the temptation, 39:32 He won't let us be tempted 39:34 beyond what we can be tempted or can bear up under. 39:39 But, I think what the Psalmist is just doing here is, 39:45 he is explaining his total dependence up on God. 39:48 That's right. That's good. 39:49 And in upon God's sustaining grace 39:52 according to His inspired work. 39:56 You know, when we read the Word, 39:58 and I so appreciate everyone has made 40:01 that focus about getting in the word. 40:05 Because I think when we read the word, 40:09 we have a great ground for confidence. 40:11 Yes. 40:13 Because this is my hope is in your Word. 40:16 Hope in the Greek is different 40:19 than we use hope in the English. 40:21 Hope in the Greek was intentional, 40:24 it was eager expectation... 40:27 Wow! 40:29 Intentional, eager expectation. 40:32 So we get in to the Word 40:34 and we know that His Word enables us 40:39 to see the right path in this dark world. 40:42 I mean, it's a light to our feet, 40:44 a lamp to our feet, a light to our path. 40:48 And we know that He empowers us 40:52 by His Word, does He not? 40:54 So, as we get in to this word, I love... 40:57 If you look at Psalms 119:116-117 41:02 what he says, after he says, 41:04 "I have put my hope in your word", 41:05 he says, "Uphold me according to your word 41:08 that I may live." 41:11 See, he is putting his hope, 41:12 he eagerly expects God to put these promises into effect. 41:17 He says, "Do not let me be ashamed of my hope," 41:20 of my eager expectation, 41:22 "Hold me up and I shall be safe, 41:25 and I shall observe your statues continually." 41:29 So, Lord, I know I am saved by grace, 41:32 I know that You are my hiding place 41:34 in my shield. 41:36 I put my hope in Your word, 41:38 I will walk in obedience 'cause You empower me to. 41:41 Now, I want to take this real quickly 41:44 and imply it to the New Testament. 41:47 Because I believe 41:49 there is a New Testament, this is perfect, 41:53 when in psalms 119:114, when he says, 41:56 "You are my hiding place" Colossians 3:3 says, 42:00 "For you have died," died to this world, 42:05 "and your life is hidden 42:09 with Christ in God." 42:12 Amen! 42:13 See, our life, our eternal security is, 42:18 it is concealed, it is safe. 42:22 Christ is our source of salvation, 42:26 He is our source of life, He is our protection, 42:30 He is our security, is He not? 42:33 And it doesn't matter what the conflict is, 42:36 what the temptation is, 42:38 you know even when we are battling 42:40 against these wicked forces in high places. 42:46 When we are hidden with Christ in God, 42:50 we can say, "Halleluiah, You are my hiding place. 42:54 Halleluiah, You are my shield, I put my hope in Your Word." 42:58 But when you think about this, 43:01 one of my favorite promises in the bible is Hebrews 7:22, 43:05 Hebrews 7:22 says that, 43:09 "Christ is the surety of the new covenant." 43:14 That means Christ 43:16 is the guarantor of the new covenant. 43:20 He is God's guaranteed to us. 43:24 That, 2 Corinthians, 1:20, 43:27 "All of God's promises are ours, 43:29 yes and amen in Christ." 43:30 That's right. 43:32 So, He is God's guarantee to us 43:35 that all of God's promises are ours, 43:37 but guess what, 43:39 He's, in this new covenant relationship, 43:43 God expects covenant loyalty, we show our love for Him, how? 43:48 If you love me, keep my commandments. 43:52 Jesus is our guarantee to God 43:57 because Jesus says, "Yes, Father. 44:00 I will work in them 44:01 to who are willing to do my good, 44:03 your good pleasure by the spirit." 44:06 So, He is, He says, 44:08 "Lord, I will complete the good work that I began." 44:12 So, God, because of Christ, he is that two way guarantee, 44:17 he is the surety of the covenant. 44:19 So I can, both of I say, He is my hiding place, 44:24 no matter what the battle is the battle belongs to Him, 44:28 and, He is my shield, I put my hope in His word. 44:33 And I just think that's, 44:35 to me that's the application that God gave me 44:37 as I looked at the scripture this moment. 44:39 Amen! Amen! 44:41 That's beautiful. 44:42 Well, okay. 44:45 Eric. Okay. 44:47 So, the Verse that I picked 44:49 was Psalms 44:5-8, 44:53 and I am going to read from the NIV version. 44:57 "Through You we push back our enemies, 45:00 through Your name we trample our force, 45:02 You gave us victory over our enemies, 45:05 in God we make our boast all day long." 45:11 When I read this first, I think of the enemies 45:13 that we all have outside, 45:16 but I think that the enemy 45:18 that we have inside is even more insidious 45:21 and more dangerous 45:22 than the one we have on the outside. 45:24 Wow! 45:25 Jeremiah 17:9 says, 45:28 "The heart is desperately wicked, 45:31 who can know it." 45:33 God gives us the most wonderful gift 45:37 that He could give anyone. 45:39 In my opinion, it's the gift of free will, 45:43 it's the gift of choice. 45:46 When we use that choice, 45:47 that free ill to serve Him faithfully, it's a blessing. 45:52 But when we use that to rebel against the Lord, 45:56 we become the enemy inside. 46:00 I was thinking of a story that I read years ago, 46:05 it's a historic, it's a historical story 46:07 about a submarine called the USS Thresher. 46:12 The USS Thresher 46:13 was deployed in 1963 46:18 and had crew about 153 men, 46:24 and it was on its first cruise. 46:26 And the submarine, it was on a test cruise to see 46:29 how everything worked 46:30 and it would descend to different depths 46:33 and then it would go through its test to see 46:34 how well everything is working. 46:37 Well, when it descended to its deepest depth, 46:39 suddenly the navy lost total contact with it, 46:43 and for three days 46:44 they searched for this submarine, 46:47 and when they finally found it, it was sitting on the bottom, 46:50 and it was crushed by the water pressure, 46:54 that thousands and thousands 46:56 of pounds per square inch of water pressure 46:58 crushed this submarine. 46:59 Oh, how sad. 47:01 But the interesting thing is, 47:04 around the crushed hole of the submarine 47:07 were fish swimming around oblivious 47:10 to this water pressure. 47:12 And I thought, 47:13 why are they oblivious to this water pressure, 47:16 when the best that man could built 47:19 was crushed like an egg shell. 47:21 How are these fish immune? 47:23 And what it turns out... That's a great point. 47:24 What it turns out being is that the pressure, 47:28 the resistance pressure within the fish is as strong 47:33 as the pressure pressing down on the fish, 47:36 so they don't notice it. 47:39 When Christ abides in us... Wow. 47:42 Oh, that's God. This is really good. 47:45 The Holy Spirit, not only does He displace 47:49 that wickedness in our own heart, 47:52 but He applies that resistance for us. 47:55 The counter pressure to the external enemy 47:58 that only wants to crush us, 48:00 and this boat comes to mind every time I think of that. 48:06 One of my favorite verses is 48:08 Psalms 119:97-105, 48:13 and I hope that I have time to read this. 48:15 You do. 48:17 First, tell me again, that was called the USS, what? 48:20 The USS Thresher, 1960, 1963, 48:25 somewhere in that range. 48:27 Thresher. 48:28 I am going to read Psalms 119:97-105. 48:33 Okay. 48:34 I read this all the time. 48:38 "Oh, how I love Your law, it is my meditation all day. 48:43 You through Your commandments make me wiser than my enemies, 48:47 for they are ever with me. 48:49 I have more understanding than all my teachers 48:53 for your testimonies are my meditation. 48:56 I understand more than the ancients 48:58 because I keep your precepts. 49:00 I have restrained my feet from every evil way 49:04 that I may keep Your Word. 49:06 I have not departed from Your judgments, 49:09 for You yourself have taught me." 49:11 This is my favorite part, 49:13 "How sweet are your words to my taste, 49:17 sweeter than honey to my mouth." 49:20 It was delicious, the word of God was delicious. 49:24 "Through Your precepts, 49:25 I get understanding therefore I hate every false way. 49:30 Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path." 49:35 Amen! Amen! 49:37 Proverbs 1:33... 49:43 Proverbs 1:33... 49:49 "But who so ever listens to me will dwell safely, 49:53 and will be secure without fear of evil." 49:57 I always invite the Holy Spirit to dwell in me 50:01 because we all face enemies, 50:04 and I want those enemies displaced, 50:06 and I want Holy Spirit to reflect out of me to others. 50:11 Amen! Amen! 50:14 Very well put. That's powerful. 50:16 That is really powerful. Praise the Lord. 50:19 I got to go and study that, 50:20 just thinking about the presence 50:22 and power of God within us. 50:25 That resistance for us, so when the outward 50:27 resistance doesn't, doesn't matter. 50:29 Doesn't affect you. That's beautiful. 50:30 And it, and it only makes sense. 50:32 I mean that's the genius of Christ, right there. 50:35 I mean this is, I mean this is... 50:37 And it is displaces it, 50:39 displaces that evil in our own heart, 50:40 also the Holy Spirit. 50:42 It's good. 50:43 I believe it was the Lord that gave you 50:44 that insight 'cause most people would just be looking at that, 50:48 that sad event of just seeing 50:52 this crushed... 50:54 Submarine. 50:55 Submarine, and just 50:56 'cause there is fish there is kind of like, 50:58 Oh, yeah, we just take them for granted, 50:59 and wouldn't have... 51:01 I think the Lord gave you 51:02 that insight and aren't we to be, 51:04 I mean, we have been watching 51:07 some of our loved ones here at 3ABN 51:10 who've been going through a horrific battle, 51:13 and they are like those fish, 51:18 they just speak in faith, they speak, they pray, 51:23 they are upbeat, in great physical pain, 51:27 but still come in and do programming 51:28 and stuff and you think, 51:30 this is, you know, they are like, 51:32 if you were looking at the picture, 51:34 they are like those little fish that are just saying, 51:37 "Hey, I don't care 51:39 how much pressure the devils putting on me..." 51:41 I am immune. 51:42 "I am immune to that pressure." 51:44 Jesus says, 51:46 "Greater is he who is in me 51:48 than he who is in the world", right? 51:51 Let me ask you a quick question, 51:53 we do want to pray, 51:54 but let me ask you this question. 51:58 I forgot my question. 52:00 Oh, I knew what I was going to ask. 52:04 When you were talking about 52:06 the wickedness and that's going on. 52:10 And we are all talking about the battles 52:13 that are coming against us and sometimes, 52:16 you know, you could just recognize, 52:18 "Man, there is, my next door neighbor 52:20 is giving me trouble," 52:22 as you said, maybe or whatever the situation is, 52:25 what do you think about the time when, 52:29 maybe somebody is just flattering in a flitter, 52:34 that they are suddenly not motivated, 52:37 you know, they wake up cause 52:38 I've, I've had a gentleman tell me, 52:42 he used to love the Word, to read the Word of God, 52:44 and it was like all of the sudden, 52:47 he could not, he just couldn't get up 52:50 the energy to read the Word of God, 52:52 he would lost the desire. 52:53 Now what happened to him, 52:55 somebody gave him that new version 53:00 that's paraphrased and I can't... 53:01 Is that a Word? 53:03 No, it s a... 53:04 The Message? 53:05 The Message, somebody gave him a copy of the Message, 53:07 that got him out of his doldrums. 53:10 But don't you think 53:11 that's just as much a spiritual battle, 53:15 when you feel apathetic, when you feel you don't, 53:19 we have got to recognize, that's a battle, isn't it? 53:21 sometimes we think the opposite of faith is doubt and unbelief, 53:27 the opposite of faith is apathy. 53:29 Yes, that's good, Mollie. It's really good. 53:31 Cause if you've got doubt and unbelief, 53:33 that can be overcome, 53:34 but apathy, you are apathetic. 53:37 It's a lot being self deceived. 53:39 And so, you know what, 53:41 what is the antidote for self deception? 53:43 You are self deceived. 53:45 There is, you know, if you are self deceived, 53:47 then you don't know that you are deceived. 53:51 And so, somebody come at you with the truth 53:53 and you think that they are wrong. 53:54 And so, no, that apathy is a hard thing, 53:57 and it's something that the enemy uses, 53:59 you know, somebody said earlier that we are contrasting fear 54:04 and how Satan uses fear, 54:05 I believe that, was that you, Luis? 54:07 Fear activates Satan, just like faith activates God. 54:13 So you get in that situation of being fearful 54:18 that your enemies got you, 54:20 but when you move out of that ramming, 54:22 you move into faith, then what happens? 54:25 We have read a scripture early on, 54:27 I think it's one that's written down here. 54:29 Oh, here it is, "The Lord is good, 54:31 a stronghold in the day of trouble 54:33 and He knows those who trust in Him." 54:38 So, God know you, he knows that faith. 54:41 So the opposite of apathy, faith. 54:45 The opposite of fear, 54:50 faith, faith in God, and faith comes by, 54:53 what have we all been saying today? 54:55 Faith comes by hearing, 54:57 I'm here, go to the armory and get the God's word. 55:01 Study and put your armor on. Amen. 55:03 Okay, I am going to pray the scriptures back, 55:06 Lord, I will start the prayer, but then when I finished, 55:08 just invite, Jill, will start with you. 55:11 And just kind of go around as we close of this program. 55:15 We know not 55:16 because we are seers or prophets, 55:19 but we know that you are going through struggles out there. 55:25 You don't even have to write to tell us 55:26 because if you are alive on this planet earth, 55:29 we know that there is some serious struggles. 55:32 And we just want you to remember 55:35 that the battle belongs to Lord. 55:37 So let's, we are going to pray these scriptures back now. 55:40 And then, Jill, you will continue 55:42 the pray the prayer. 55:44 "Heavenly father, we come in the name of Jesus. 55:46 And we thank You Father that we know 55:48 when something or someone opposes 55:51 the good plan you have for our life, 55:53 that we know that this struggle, 55:56 our struggles not against flesh and blood, 55:58 but against spiritual forces of evil 56:01 that are operating within this world system. 56:04 Father, we will by Your power, take our stand without fear. 56:09 We thank you that You have reminded us tonight 56:12 the battle is yours 56:14 and that you will give us the victory. 56:16 Father, we thank you 56:18 that You are our very present help 56:20 in times of trouble. 56:21 We put our hope in Your Word, 56:23 knowing Lord that it is You who will push back our enemies. 56:29 We have trust and confidence in Your power, 56:31 in Your authority of our all situations. 56:34 And we thank You Father for your great love 56:38 and concern for us." 56:40 "Thank You, Father, 56:41 that we can stand, You enable us to stand, 56:44 that we don't have to be afraid, 56:46 that we don't have to fight, 56:48 that You will give us the victory." 56:51 "Thank you, Father, 56:52 that You are sniggling this word in our heart 56:54 that the enemy can't come 56:56 and take one of these words out of our heart. 56:58 Father, that they'll take root, they will grow, 57:01 and they will produce bountifully 57:02 for Your kingdom in Christ name." 57:04 Amen. 57:06 "And father, I just want to thank You Lord 57:07 that You are a refugee in our strength, 57:09 or that You are forever present 57:13 and ready to assist us and whenever we call." 57:17 "Our beloved father, 57:18 thank You that the battle belongs to You. 57:21 And because the battle does belong to You, 57:23 Lord, we can just sit back and just look at the victories 57:27 that are going to be around us, 57:28 and we are praying Lord for the pouring 57:30 of Your Holy Spirit up on us here 57:33 and up on our viewers Lord, 57:34 that they can understand that the issues 57:37 that are going through their lives. 57:39 The victory is only in Jesus, 57:42 we thank You Lord, in Christ name, amen." |
