Thank you. Oh, yes. 00:02:59.57\00:03:00.94 The topic is something that we should all consider. 00:03:00.98\00:03:03.81 We need to take time to study this, 00:03:03.85\00:03:06.08 consider because there is tremendous blessing 00:03:06.11\00:03:09.38 in understanding more about what we're talking about. 00:03:09.42\00:03:12.09 And so we are talking about 00:03:12.12\00:03:13.46 what some people call Communion service 00:03:13.49\00:03:16.26 also known as the Lord's Supper. 00:03:16.29\00:03:18.09 Yes. 00:03:18.13\00:03:19.46 And perhaps some of our friends watching may be the first time 00:03:19.49\00:03:25.37 they go to Seventh-day Adventist Church 00:03:25.40\00:03:26.74 and they saw what happens there and they're wondering, 00:03:26.77\00:03:28.94 "What does all this mean?" 00:03:28.97\00:03:30.74 So we're going to go through some of these things 00:03:30.77\00:03:32.51 and maybe share our experiences 00:03:32.54\00:03:34.28 and how it has been a blessing to us, 00:03:34.31\00:03:36.54 so we would like to encourage you to stay by. 00:03:36.58\00:03:39.61 Right now, we're going to have prayer 00:03:39.65\00:03:40.98 and ask for the Lord to bless us and bless you. 00:03:41.02\00:03:44.22 So let's pray together. 00:03:44.25\00:03:48.32 Our loving Heavenly Father, 00:03:48.36\00:03:50.43 we thank You so much 00:03:50.46\00:03:52.39 that the Sabbath has come and that we can rest. 00:03:52.43\00:03:56.23 We can rest from our labors, we can rest in Jesus. 00:03:56.26\00:04:00.44 We ask You, Father, to be with us during this hour, 00:04:00.47\00:04:02.87 we pray that You will lead our conversation, our thoughts, 00:04:02.90\00:04:06.71 and we pray that You will bless us 00:04:06.74\00:04:08.54 and bless those that are listening and viewing 00:04:08.58\00:04:11.85 wherever they may be around the world 00:04:11.88\00:04:14.02 and we thank You for providing this time of fellowship 00:04:14.05\00:04:17.19 with our friends here and all over the world. 00:04:17.22\00:04:19.35 In Jesus' name. 00:04:19.39\00:04:20.72 Amen. Amen. 00:04:20.76\00:04:23.02 Well, we have a song that has been selected 00:04:23.06\00:04:26.03 and tell us about it, Idalia. 00:04:26.06\00:04:28.00 This is the song, Power in the Blood, the hymn, 00:04:28.03\00:04:33.07 an oldie but goody, 00:04:33.10\00:04:34.57 and a song that we often sing 00:04:34.60\00:04:36.74 during our Communion service at our church. 00:04:36.77\00:04:40.48 It's 294, first and last stanza. 00:04:40.51\00:04:47.18 Would you be free from the burden of sin? 00:04:47.22\00:04:51.79 There's power in the blood, 00:04:51.82\00:04:54.76 Power in the blood 00:04:54.79\00:04:57.16 Would you o'er evil a victory win? 00:04:57.19\00:05:02.06 There's wonderful power in the blood 00:05:02.10\00:05:06.90 There is power, power wonder-working power 00:05:06.94\00:05:11.81 In the blood of the Lamb 00:05:11.84\00:05:16.64 There is power, power wonder-working power 00:05:16.68\00:05:21.78 In the precious blood of the Lamb 00:05:21.82\00:05:27.56 Would you do service for Jesus your King? 00:05:27.59\00:05:32.36 There's power in the blood, 00:05:32.39\00:05:35.10 Power in the blood 00:05:35.13\00:05:37.67 Would you live daily His praises to sing? 00:05:37.70\00:05:42.30 There's wonderful power in the blood. 00:05:42.34\00:05:47.18 There is power, power wonder-working power 00:05:47.21\00:05:52.21 In the blood of the Lamb 00:05:52.25\00:05:57.05 There is power, power wonder-working power 00:05:57.09\00:06:02.19 In the precious blood of the Lamb 00:06:02.22\00:06:08.16 Amen. Amen. 00:06:08.20\00:06:09.53 There's power in the blood of the Lamb. 00:06:09.56\00:06:14.07 Yes. 00:06:14.10\00:06:15.44 When we say there's power in the blood of the Lamb, 00:06:15.47\00:06:16.97 we of course, think of the scripture that says, 00:06:17.01\00:06:19.51 "Behold the Lamb of God 00:06:19.54\00:06:21.08 which taketh away the sin of the world." 00:06:21.11\00:06:24.18 And that is Jesus. 00:06:24.21\00:06:25.55 And there is power in Jesus to cleanse us from all sin 00:06:25.58\00:06:29.55 and I'm grateful to the Lord for that. 00:06:29.58\00:06:31.45 And we're going to talk about cleansing us from sin 00:06:31.49\00:06:33.42 and being close to the Lord, 00:06:33.46\00:06:35.32 you know, when you think about Communion, 00:06:35.36\00:06:38.39 what does the word Communion mean to you? 00:06:38.43\00:06:41.80 The root word commune, to spend time to connect with. 00:06:41.83\00:06:46.10 That's right. 00:06:46.13\00:06:47.47 And so it has been rightly called Communion service, 00:06:47.50\00:06:50.21 a time when God's children come together to share 00:06:50.24\00:06:54.84 what we call the Lord's emblem, 00:06:54.88\00:06:57.01 the bread, also we mention the wine, 00:06:57.05\00:07:00.08 but we're going to talk about the wine later 00:07:00.12\00:07:02.45 but let's set the stage. 00:07:02.48\00:07:03.82 We are talking about the Communion service, 00:07:03.85\00:07:05.92 the Lord's Supper. 00:07:05.95\00:07:07.29 And in the Bible, 00:07:07.32\00:07:08.66 you look at it as the Lord's Last Supper. 00:07:08.69\00:07:10.33 And interesting, 00:07:10.36\00:07:12.39 during the last Passover 00:07:12.43\00:07:15.13 that Jesus spent on this earth, 00:07:15.16\00:07:17.50 he asked Peter and John to go and prepare the Passover. 00:07:17.53\00:07:22.24 "Go and find out." 00:07:22.27\00:07:23.61 So they went to... 00:07:23.64\00:07:25.04 They went to a place and Jesus told them, 00:07:25.07\00:07:27.11 "You're going to find a man carrying a pitcher." 00:07:27.14\00:07:28.94 Now that's interesting. 00:07:28.98\00:07:30.31 Normally, women are carrying a pitcher. 00:07:30.35\00:07:33.72 So that would be something different 00:07:33.75\00:07:35.75 and they knew 00:07:35.78\00:07:37.12 they weren't going to see many men carrying a pitcher, 00:07:37.15\00:07:38.65 it was going to be just one. 00:07:38.69\00:07:40.82 Anyway, the Lamb... 00:07:40.86\00:07:43.93 Let's talk a little bit about the Passover 00:07:43.96\00:07:45.96 because it was the Passover. 00:07:45.99\00:07:48.13 Perhaps Pastor Lomacang, 00:07:48.16\00:07:49.50 maybe you can summarize what is this Passover 00:07:49.53\00:07:52.17 and why was it important for the Jews? 00:07:52.20\00:07:56.20 Well, the Passover was a significant commemoration 00:07:56.24\00:08:00.31 of their deliverance from Egypt. 00:08:00.34\00:08:03.58 Exodus, the beginning, the latter... 00:08:03.61\00:08:06.25 Or the middle to the latter parts of Exodus 00:08:06.28\00:08:08.12 talk about the deliverance, 00:08:08.15\00:08:10.02 the children of Israel had cried for the Lord 00:08:10.05\00:08:12.32 to deliver them from Egypt for 400 years and finally, 00:08:12.35\00:08:17.93 he sent Moses and Aaron to say to the Pharaoh, 00:08:17.96\00:08:21.00 "Let my people go that they may serve me." 00:08:21.03\00:08:23.37 And so when you think of Passover, 00:08:23.40\00:08:26.10 it's an introduction into serving God, 00:08:26.13\00:08:30.11 but the Passover was very significant 00:08:30.14\00:08:31.91 because on the night before the Lord delivered 00:08:31.94\00:08:33.84 the children of Israel, 00:08:33.88\00:08:35.21 he said, "Get a lamb and roast that lamb 00:08:35.24\00:08:39.98 and when you partake of the lamb, 00:08:40.02\00:08:41.42 do so inside of your house 00:08:41.45\00:08:42.88 and make sure 00:08:42.92\00:08:44.25 that the blood of the lamb covers 00:08:44.29\00:08:45.62 the doorposts of the house." 00:08:45.65\00:08:47.39 So it's not just sufficient enough to eat of the lamb, 00:08:47.42\00:08:50.93 but they had to do so in their house 00:08:50.96\00:08:53.29 under the blood of the lamb. 00:08:53.33\00:08:55.26 And when the destroying angel came through Egypt, 00:08:55.30\00:08:58.00 all those who were covered by the blood of the lamb 00:08:58.03\00:09:01.07 were recipients of deliverance from destruction to come. 00:09:01.10\00:09:04.61 So the word Passover means destruction passes over us 00:09:04.64\00:09:08.61 and that was the commemorative story 00:09:08.64\00:09:10.15 that they were told from generation to generation. 00:09:10.18\00:09:12.75 Whenever your children would ask 00:09:12.78\00:09:14.12 what the Passover was, 00:09:14.15\00:09:15.48 they would always repeat deliverance from Egypt. 00:09:15.52\00:09:18.52 So but now the Communion service 00:09:18.55\00:09:20.22 in your transition to that 00:09:20.26\00:09:21.92 but the Passover 00:09:21.96\00:09:23.29 was that deliverance from Egypt. 00:09:23.32\00:09:25.09 So the Passover, a deliverance from Egypt, 00:09:25.13\00:09:26.80 the deliverance 00:09:26.83\00:09:28.16 from the bondage of being slaves 00:09:28.20\00:09:31.67 and they were slaves for about 400 years. 00:09:31.70\00:09:34.80 And so, but Jesus is about to work, 00:09:34.84\00:09:37.97 was about to work 00:09:38.01\00:09:39.34 the deliverance for all humanity, 00:09:39.37\00:09:41.78 now just the Jews at that particular time, 00:09:41.81\00:09:44.45 which the Passover commemorates but for all humanity, 00:09:44.48\00:09:47.62 Jesus was about to be the Passover Lamb 00:09:47.65\00:09:52.15 or the True Lamb 00:09:52.19\00:09:53.92 that would deliver us from sin and the slavery to sin. 00:09:53.96\00:09:59.49 So Communion service, the Last Supper, Jesus begins, 00:09:59.53\00:10:02.56 or as the Passover for the Jews 00:10:02.60\00:10:06.27 was passing for the last time, 00:10:06.30\00:10:09.80 so when Jesus celebrated the Passover, 00:10:09.84\00:10:11.34 that was the last time that the Lord recognizes 00:10:11.37\00:10:14.94 that feast as a commemoration. 00:10:14.98\00:10:17.31 Now the believers in Christ, 00:10:17.35\00:10:19.48 the believers in God 00:10:19.51\00:10:20.85 were to take upon a new commemoration 00:10:20.88\00:10:26.55 of the deliverance from Satan 00:10:26.59\00:10:27.92 that is Communion service. 00:10:27.96\00:10:29.82 That's why you have the emblems of the bread 00:10:29.86\00:10:31.53 and the wine 00:10:31.56\00:10:32.89 which we are going to read about in a moment. 00:10:32.93\00:10:34.26 So we would like to invite you 00:10:34.30\00:10:36.83 to go to your Bibles in Luke Chapter 22 00:10:36.87\00:10:40.07 and we're going to look at some scriptures. 00:10:40.10\00:10:41.44 We're going to just read it 00:10:41.47\00:10:43.00 and we're going to ask Brother Jason 00:10:43.04\00:10:47.14 to be the first one to read. 00:10:47.18\00:10:49.14 Luke 22:14. 00:10:49.18\00:10:52.28 Verse 14? All right. 00:10:52.31\00:10:54.05 "When the hour had come, he sat down, 00:10:54.08\00:10:56.18 and the 12 apostles with him." 00:10:56.22\00:10:58.69 Keep going on. 00:10:58.72\00:11:00.06 Yeah, go ahead, go ahead and go to verse 15. 00:11:00.09\00:11:01.52 "Then he said to them, with fervent desire, 00:11:01.56\00:11:03.86 I have desired to eat this Passover 00:11:03.89\00:11:06.26 with you before I suffer." 00:11:06.29\00:11:07.63 Amen. 00:11:07.66\00:11:09.00 And so what can you share about this particular time? 00:11:09.03\00:11:11.63 Jesus is with His 12 disciples. 00:11:11.67\00:11:14.17 He had other disciples, but here were the 12 disciples. 00:11:14.20\00:11:19.47 Anyone would like to share something 00:11:19.51\00:11:20.84 about those scriptures? 00:11:20.88\00:11:22.21 Well, Jesus shared this with his closest associates. 00:11:22.24\00:11:27.65 These were the representations, 00:11:27.68\00:11:29.38 12 is a very significant number. 00:11:29.42\00:11:30.85 You have 12 tribes in the Old Testament 00:11:30.89\00:11:32.35 and you have 12 disciples in the New 00:11:32.39\00:11:34.36 and it was commemorative, a reflection, 00:11:34.39\00:11:37.03 it was amazing that the 12 of the Old 00:11:37.06\00:11:38.79 and the 12 of the New was a reflection 00:11:38.83\00:11:40.16 because under the Passover 00:11:40.20\00:11:41.86 there with the 12 tribes, under the Communion service, 00:11:41.90\00:11:44.70 he was with 12 disciples. 00:11:44.73\00:11:46.57 And so He had the connection there... 00:11:46.60\00:11:47.94 And one thing I forgot to mention 00:11:47.97\00:11:49.30 before was not just a Lamb 00:11:49.34\00:11:50.94 but a lamb without a blemish and without a spot. 00:11:50.97\00:11:53.91 It just couldn't be any other lamb, 00:11:53.94\00:11:55.34 you just couldn't pick a lamb 00:11:55.38\00:11:57.18 because that lamb would represent Christ, 00:11:57.21\00:11:59.45 the coming redeemer. 00:11:59.48\00:12:00.82 But yeah, this whole idea was I'm going to commission you 00:12:00.85\00:12:03.89 and give you the message that you will proliferate it 00:12:03.92\00:12:06.42 to the rest of the world. 00:12:06.45\00:12:07.79 That's right. 00:12:07.82\00:12:09.16 And as the Jews celebrated the Passover, 00:12:09.19\00:12:12.83 to them it was kept fresh, 00:12:12.86\00:12:15.56 the understanding 00:12:15.60\00:12:17.17 that the Lord delivered them from a great slaughter 00:12:17.20\00:12:22.27 and He was their deliverer and so... 00:12:22.30\00:12:25.84 But Jesus said something with desire. 00:12:25.87\00:12:29.04 "I have desire to eat 00:12:29.08\00:12:33.25 this Passover with you before I suffer." 00:12:33.28\00:12:36.18 I would read the next two verses. 00:12:36.22\00:12:38.32 "For I say unto you, I will not anymore eat thereof, 00:12:38.35\00:12:43.22 until it be fulfilled in the Kingdom of God. 00:12:43.26\00:12:47.60 And he took the cup and gave thanks and said, 00:12:47.63\00:12:50.83 'Take this and divide it amongst yourselves.'" 00:12:50.87\00:12:55.24 Idalia? 00:12:55.27\00:12:56.60 "For I say to you, 00:12:56.64\00:12:58.64 I will not drink of the fruit of the vine 00:12:58.67\00:13:01.98 until the Kingdom of God comes." 00:13:02.01\00:13:06.15 And he took bread, gave thanks, 00:13:06.18\00:13:10.05 and broke it and gave it to them saying, 00:13:10.09\00:13:13.32 "This is my body which is given for you, 00:13:13.36\00:13:17.23 do this in remembrance of me." 00:13:17.26\00:13:20.06 Sister Angie. 00:13:20.10\00:13:21.66 "Likewise, he also took the cup after supper saying, 00:13:21.70\00:13:25.63 'This cup is a new covenant in my blood 00:13:25.67\00:13:28.94 which is shed for you.'" 00:13:28.97\00:13:31.07 Next one. 00:13:31.11\00:13:33.17 Verse 21. 00:13:33.21\00:13:34.54 "But behold, 00:13:34.58\00:13:36.28 the hand of my betrayer is with me on the table." 00:13:36.31\00:13:42.02 And verse 22 and 23, Pastor Lomacang for us. 00:13:42.05\00:13:45.49 And it says, "And truly the Son of God 00:13:45.52\00:13:47.76 or the Son of Man goes as it has been determined 00:13:47.79\00:13:51.19 for woe to that man by whom he is betrayed." 00:13:51.23\00:13:58.07 And then verse 23 you said? That's right. 00:13:58.10\00:14:00.47 Okay, verse 23. 00:14:00.50\00:14:02.80 "Then they began to question amongst themselves, 00:14:02.84\00:14:05.41 which of them it was who would do this thing." 00:14:05.44\00:14:09.98 Thank you so much. 00:14:10.01\00:14:11.35 And so we have here the background 00:14:11.38\00:14:13.88 of what has become for us as Christians, 00:14:13.92\00:14:17.09 the Communion service. 00:14:17.12\00:14:19.05 And let's talk a little bit about the bread. 00:14:19.09\00:14:23.43 What did Jesus say the bread is a symbol of? 00:14:23.46\00:14:27.26 His body. His body. 00:14:27.30\00:14:28.90 His body. 00:14:28.93\00:14:30.97 Now what was particular about this bread? 00:14:31.00\00:14:33.84 Did they just go to the store and get any old bread? 00:14:33.87\00:14:36.77 No. Why was this bread different? 00:14:36.81\00:14:39.97 Unleavened bread, pure bread, 00:14:40.01\00:14:42.11 no baking powder, 00:14:42.14\00:14:46.45 no baking soda, no yeast. 00:14:46.48\00:14:49.58 That is unadulterated bread. That's right. 00:14:49.62\00:14:53.22 And so what did Jesus say this bread symbolizes? 00:14:53.25\00:14:57.13 "This is my body which is given for you, 00:14:57.16\00:15:01.83 do this in remembrance of me." 00:15:01.86\00:15:03.97 So there is something significant about this bread 00:15:04.00\00:15:07.67 and it has to be unleavened, 00:15:07.70\00:15:09.14 it has to be specially prepared for the occasion. 00:15:09.17\00:15:14.01 And so I'm so glad that Pastor Lomacang shared about the lamb, 00:15:14.04\00:15:18.01 it was supposed to be a lamb without blemish. 00:15:18.05\00:15:20.52 Likewise, the bread was supposed 00:15:20.55\00:15:22.75 to be perfect without blemish. 00:15:22.78\00:15:25.69 That's why, it is unleavened bread 00:15:25.72\00:15:27.92 so that nothing that comes 00:15:27.96\00:15:30.69 into the bread will change the bread. 00:15:30.73\00:15:34.73 Any thoughts you would like to share 00:15:34.76\00:15:36.10 about the bread 00:15:36.13\00:15:37.47 and when you have participated in Communion service? 00:15:37.50\00:15:40.74 It's interesting that you said whatever comes into the bread 00:15:40.77\00:15:43.34 will not change it 00:15:43.37\00:15:44.87 and that's significant of Christ. 00:15:44.91\00:15:46.24 He is the same yesterday, today, and forever. 00:15:46.27\00:15:49.61 Leaven changes, 00:15:49.64\00:15:50.98 but leaven is also a symbol of sin 00:15:51.01\00:15:53.28 and that's why he said, 00:15:53.31\00:15:54.65 "Beware of the leaven of the Pharisees." 00:15:54.68\00:15:56.69 "Purge out the old leaven as well." 00:15:56.72\00:15:58.55 He says. "Purge out the old leaven." 00:15:58.59\00:16:00.22 So this was a symbol of what the bread 00:16:00.26\00:16:01.79 from the moment it was baked, 00:16:01.82\00:16:03.83 all the way through there will be no change in it. 00:16:03.86\00:16:06.96 And so there is no changed Christ. 00:16:07.00\00:16:09.06 I remember the story of Mark chapter 4:1, 00:16:09.10\00:16:11.00 Jesus invited the disciples to come at the boat. 00:16:11.03\00:16:13.27 The Bible says they took Him along in the boat as he was, 00:16:13.30\00:16:16.50 no change. 00:16:16.54\00:16:17.87 You can't change him. 00:16:17.91\00:16:19.24 So when we accept the bread, we're accepting Jesus as he is. 00:16:19.27\00:16:23.18 No alterations, we are not adding to him, 00:16:23.21\00:16:25.71 and we are not taking anything away from him. 00:16:25.75\00:16:27.58 That's how he is. 00:16:27.62\00:16:28.95 But once we partake of that, 00:16:28.98\00:16:31.25 you know, Jesus never changes but he changes us. 00:16:31.29\00:16:34.52 What power, what power. 00:16:34.56\00:16:37.26 And I believe 00:16:37.29\00:16:38.63 that the Lord wants to work in your life 00:16:38.66\00:16:41.26 in such a way that He can manifest his power 00:16:41.30\00:16:44.83 so when you hear or see a sign 00:16:44.87\00:16:47.44 on a Seventh-day Adventist Church Communion service 00:16:47.47\00:16:49.77 this Sabbath, unfortunately, 00:16:49.80\00:16:51.14 some people say 00:16:51.17\00:16:52.51 "Oh, I don't think I will go to church today 00:16:52.54\00:16:54.84 because it's going to be a longer service." 00:16:54.88\00:16:57.11 And really, you have not grasped the meaning 00:16:57.15\00:17:01.88 of the Communion service. 00:17:01.92\00:17:04.12 On a side note, 00:17:04.15\00:17:05.49 I'd like to share with you 00:17:05.52\00:17:07.79 when the Lord placed Donna Gaines 00:17:07.82\00:17:11.39 and her husband Bob, 00:17:11.43\00:17:13.29 he's passed away, 00:17:13.33\00:17:15.16 the first time I invited her to our church, 00:17:15.20\00:17:18.63 I said to her, "Donna, I want to invite you 00:17:18.67\00:17:22.24 to my church 00:17:22.27\00:17:23.64 but we're going to have Communion service." 00:17:23.67\00:17:26.47 And it's the highest Sabbath you can ever imagine 00:17:26.51\00:17:30.55 because it was very reverent, 00:17:30.58\00:17:33.72 the display, the routine, the ritual, 00:17:33.75\00:17:38.45 it blesses me from the moment 00:17:38.49\00:17:40.69 the pastor starts walking in the door 00:17:40.72\00:17:42.66 singing Power in the Blood followed by the deacons, 00:17:42.69\00:17:46.19 the elders, and the deaconesses. 00:17:46.23\00:17:48.56 So she accepted the invitation 00:17:48.60\00:17:51.47 and she has never seen anything so special in her life. 00:17:51.50\00:17:55.10 She said, "I have never seen like that." 00:17:55.14\00:17:57.24 And she is a member of our church. 00:17:57.27\00:17:58.61 That's right. She is a member. 00:17:58.64\00:18:00.11 So there is beauty in God's things 00:18:00.14\00:18:05.05 and this is so focused in His life, 00:18:05.08\00:18:07.55 His sacrifice. 00:18:07.58\00:18:09.25 And, you know, we can tell you that God never changes 00:18:09.28\00:18:12.15 and never changes but we can tell you 00:18:12.19\00:18:14.12 how the Lord has changed us. 00:18:14.16\00:18:16.59 God will find you 00:18:16.62\00:18:17.96 wherever you are but will not leave you 00:18:17.99\00:18:20.06 the way he finds you. 00:18:20.10\00:18:21.43 Praise the Lord for that. Amen. 00:18:21.46\00:18:22.80 With the unleavened bread 00:18:22.83\00:18:24.93 being unadulterated 00:18:24.97\00:18:26.43 with no impurities or anything like that, 00:18:26.47\00:18:29.84 Christ is pure. 00:18:29.87\00:18:31.37 And so even when you look at the vine or the grape juice 00:18:31.41\00:18:34.74 if you will, it's not fermented. 00:18:34.78\00:18:36.81 That's right. 00:18:36.85\00:18:38.18 So it's kept in a pure state as is Christ, 00:18:38.21\00:18:43.59 you know, and his strength is made perfect in our weakness 00:18:43.62\00:18:46.25 by partaking, 00:18:46.29\00:18:48.72 by consuming Christ's body 00:18:48.76\00:18:52.06 or the bread, it strengthens us. 00:18:52.09\00:18:55.73 Amen. 00:18:55.76\00:18:57.10 Well, Johnny, you asked, 00:18:57.13\00:18:58.53 "What does it do to you 00:18:58.57\00:18:59.90 when you partake of the bread, you know? 00:18:59.93\00:19:03.67 It's not like you're passing out 00:19:03.71\00:19:05.81 a little cracker in the church. 00:19:05.84\00:19:09.31 There is a program and I wish that all the leaders 00:19:09.34\00:19:14.98 of any Seventh-day Adventist Church 00:19:15.02\00:19:17.72 took to heart what it takes to gather 00:19:17.75\00:19:22.72 the brethren for Communion service. 00:19:22.76\00:19:25.83 The importance that you as a pastor give it, 00:19:25.86\00:19:29.10 that's the importance 00:19:29.13\00:19:30.47 your members are going to give it. 00:19:30.50\00:19:33.30 It is important for us 00:19:33.34\00:19:35.17 and it is important for our children to understand 00:19:35.20\00:19:38.01 what is Communion service. 00:19:38.04\00:19:39.77 Sometimes they are like, 00:19:39.81\00:19:41.14 "I'm not going to go because I have children." 00:19:41.18\00:19:43.21 What beautiful display, an example and the music, 00:19:43.24\00:19:49.15 the text, the testimonies, 00:19:49.18\00:19:51.45 everything adds to your Christian experience, 00:19:51.49\00:19:54.22 you know. 00:19:54.26\00:19:55.59 And of course, I can go on talking... 00:19:55.62\00:19:58.79 And I'm sorry pastor 00:19:58.83\00:20:00.16 that I'm saying so much about you... 00:20:00.20\00:20:01.53 No. 00:20:01.56\00:20:02.90 But we have the agape feast at the end of the year too 00:20:02.93\00:20:07.40 and it is... 00:20:07.44\00:20:08.77 I mean, I get goosebumps and I'm just thinking about it. 00:20:08.80\00:20:12.81 So if we put so much thought into what we're going to wear, 00:20:12.84\00:20:16.34 how work is going to be, all these senseless things, 00:20:16.38\00:20:22.02 and we don't pay attention 00:20:22.05\00:20:23.39 to the transforming opportunities 00:20:23.42\00:20:25.79 that we have, 00:20:25.82\00:20:27.32 you know, in certain activities within our churches, 00:20:27.36\00:20:32.76 what are you waiting for, what are you looking for, 00:20:32.79\00:20:34.73 you know. 00:20:34.76\00:20:36.10 That's right. So I'm blessed. 00:20:36.13\00:20:37.77 I got to be honest with you guys. 00:20:37.80\00:20:39.77 When we're having Communion service, 00:20:39.80\00:20:42.04 that is the best grape juice I've ever had. 00:20:42.07\00:20:46.24 That is something that is extremely special, 00:20:46.27\00:20:49.38 I mean, you know, what's special about it 00:20:49.41\00:20:51.15 because there's something that's just so special. 00:20:51.18\00:20:53.55 But if I were to go to the store 00:20:53.58\00:20:54.98 and get grape juice, 00:20:55.02\00:20:56.62 it's not even going to taste remotely 00:20:56.65\00:20:58.75 the same as when we have Communion service 00:20:58.79\00:21:01.09 and unleavened bread, 00:21:01.12\00:21:02.76 I mean, when you consume that in church, 00:21:02.79\00:21:05.03 in the service, there is nothing like that. 00:21:05.06\00:21:08.03 If I were to eat that any other time, 00:21:08.06\00:21:10.77 it wouldn't have that same flavor 00:21:10.80\00:21:14.50 or anything like that. 00:21:14.54\00:21:15.87 But that bread, some people think 00:21:15.90\00:21:18.31 that bread is the actual body of Christ. 00:21:18.34\00:21:21.54 Yes. But it's not the actual body. 00:21:21.58\00:21:24.65 It represents it, right? It's symbol. 00:21:24.68\00:21:28.72 How could you have Christ's body? 00:21:28.75\00:21:31.02 He used a lot of figurative speech, 00:21:31.05\00:21:33.56 I mean, he said, he is the door, 00:21:33.59\00:21:36.16 you know, you don't get to the Father 00:21:36.19\00:21:38.16 but through Christ and, you know, He is the door. 00:21:38.19\00:21:41.33 So he used figurative speech so yeah, that's not literal. 00:21:41.36\00:21:47.10 When we are eating bread... 00:21:47.14\00:21:49.90 Yes. 00:21:49.94\00:21:51.27 In my situation, I'm praying and I'm thinking, 00:21:51.31\00:21:57.38 "Father, I'm a mother, 00:21:57.41\00:21:59.98 I would give my life for my kids, 00:22:00.02\00:22:02.62 but you gave your only son for the human race." 00:22:02.65\00:22:07.42 You know, I visualize Him on the Cross and Him risen 00:22:07.46\00:22:12.26 because He did not just die, you know, he resurrected, 00:22:12.29\00:22:17.00 and He is on the throne 00:22:17.03\00:22:19.60 and interceding for everyone of us. 00:22:19.63\00:22:21.57 That's right. 00:22:21.60\00:22:22.94 You know, he said his body was broken for us 00:22:22.97\00:22:26.84 and it's amazing the suffering, 00:22:26.88\00:22:30.18 physical suffering that Christ endured 00:22:30.21\00:22:32.61 and they have attempted to make movies 00:22:32.65\00:22:35.72 throughout the years to show 00:22:35.75\00:22:38.32 the physical suffering of Christ, 00:22:38.35\00:22:39.69 but no one can really captivate 00:22:39.72\00:22:42.82 the internal suffering of Christ. 00:22:42.86\00:22:46.56 I've never seen the movie but there was a lot people 00:22:46.59\00:22:51.37 talking about a movie called the Passion of Christ in which, 00:22:51.40\00:22:55.10 as a matter of fact, a person that was an atheist told me, 00:22:55.14\00:22:58.31 "Don't go see that movie." 00:22:58.34\00:23:00.01 He went to see it and he said it was brutal 00:23:00.04\00:23:05.01 and it helps some people understand 00:23:05.05\00:23:06.38 that Christ suffered for you. 00:23:06.41\00:23:07.78 Oh, yeah. Oh, yeah. 00:23:07.82\00:23:09.15 But the internal suffering of Christ 00:23:09.18\00:23:11.12 because as we understand it, 00:23:11.15\00:23:15.12 He was becoming an offering for sin, 00:23:15.16\00:23:17.53 He was taking upon himself our sins 00:23:17.56\00:23:21.13 and his body was broken for us. 00:23:21.16\00:23:23.70 And the internal suffering you have to understand 00:23:23.73\00:23:27.54 that here is Christ being separated 00:23:27.57\00:23:30.97 from the Father and this is an anguish 00:23:31.01\00:23:33.58 and a suffering that we cannot understand 00:23:33.61\00:23:36.58 except that we lose a loved one, 00:23:36.61\00:23:39.78 we begin to enter a little bit 00:23:39.81\00:23:41.62 into that experience of missing someone, 00:23:41.65\00:23:44.02 but Christ, throughout his life, 00:23:44.05\00:23:45.92 enjoyed Communion with the Father 00:23:45.95\00:23:49.29 and when he takes sin upon Himself, 00:23:49.32\00:23:51.39 then there has to be this separation 00:23:51.43\00:23:53.60 because sin separates us from God. 00:23:53.63\00:23:55.70 Now the Father is retreating and even though 00:23:55.73\00:23:58.83 He was there at the cross nearby, 00:23:58.87\00:24:03.61 Jesus could not feel His presence 00:24:03.64\00:24:05.87 and so there is this anguish 00:24:05.91\00:24:07.71 and this suffering that takes place 00:24:07.74\00:24:09.71 and His body was broken for us, 00:24:09.74\00:24:11.51 His mind, I guess you could say tortured. 00:24:11.55\00:24:15.32 That's why he said, "Why have you forsaken me?" 00:24:15.35\00:24:17.72 Those words, why... 00:24:17.75\00:24:19.32 and to say, 00:24:19.35\00:24:20.69 "My Father, my Father, why has thou for saken me?" 00:24:20.72\00:24:25.39 I'm thinking King James. 00:24:25.43\00:24:27.30 It's an internal... 00:24:27.33\00:24:28.73 Those are words full of meaning that we cannot just pass 00:24:28.76\00:24:32.33 by that help us understand a little bit of what's going on 00:24:32.37\00:24:37.87 behind in the mind of Christ. 00:24:37.91\00:24:41.01 I see Pastor Lomacang would like to share. 00:24:41.04\00:24:43.04 You know, in 1 John 1:7, 00:24:43.08\00:24:45.45 we know that 1 John 1:9 is 00:24:45.48\00:24:47.92 "If we confess our sins" 1 John 1:7, 00:24:47.95\00:24:49.98 even includes the word "communion" 00:24:50.02\00:24:52.32 in a different word 00:24:52.35\00:24:53.69 but in the word fellowship, koinonia. 00:24:53.72\00:24:55.39 You know, "If we walk in the light, 00:24:55.42\00:24:57.39 as He is, in the light, 00:24:57.43\00:24:58.76 we have fellowship with one another, 00:24:58.79\00:25:00.33 and the blood of Jesus Christ, 00:25:00.36\00:25:02.06 His Son, cleanses us from all sin." 00:25:02.10\00:25:05.20 A number of years ago, I did a sermon about... 00:25:05.23\00:25:08.40 The sermon was called The Blood 00:25:08.44\00:25:10.17 and it was just a dramatization 00:25:10.21\00:25:12.27 but it changed a young man's life 00:25:12.31\00:25:13.71 to now today he is a pastor. 00:25:13.74\00:25:15.54 He would come here, 00:25:15.58\00:25:16.91 he was invited through Mario Navarro, 00:25:16.95\00:25:20.88 he is a pastor now in the Nevada Conference 00:25:20.92\00:25:23.35 and he was a young catholic young man 00:25:23.39\00:25:25.15 who was invited once to our prayer meeting 00:25:25.19\00:25:27.32 and then somebody invited him to our church on Sabbath 00:25:27.36\00:25:29.29 and I did a sermon called The Blood 00:25:29.32\00:25:31.36 in which I did a dramatization, 00:25:31.39\00:25:32.86 just a little dramatization, 00:25:32.89\00:25:34.26 you know, "Ladies and gentlemen, 00:25:34.30\00:25:36.06 the borders of the United States 00:25:36.10\00:25:37.43 have now been closed 00:25:37.47\00:25:38.80 from all incoming air traffic 00:25:38.83\00:25:40.17 because a strain from Europe 00:25:40.20\00:25:41.54 has now begun to spread around the world 00:25:41.57\00:25:43.14 and everyone coming over from Europe has to be tested. 00:25:43.17\00:25:45.97 Now our borders have been closed 00:25:46.01\00:25:47.44 from Asia and from the Caribbean." 00:25:47.48\00:25:49.24 And I did this all, 00:25:49.28\00:25:50.61 I spoke it through to the point 00:25:50.65\00:25:51.98 where you could feel the reality of it 00:25:52.01\00:25:54.75 but I began the sermon not with an introduction 00:25:54.78\00:25:56.12 to the scripture 00:25:56.15\00:25:57.49 but there is a special announcement 00:25:57.52\00:25:58.85 we have to make 00:25:58.89\00:26:00.22 and then they're trying to find an antidote to this disease 00:26:00.26\00:26:02.39 and people they said will we have to find... 00:26:02.42\00:26:05.06 There is a particular antigen that could defeat this disease 00:26:05.09\00:26:08.63 and people are standing in line 00:26:08.66\00:26:10.00 in all the major cities to get their blood tested. 00:26:10.03\00:26:11.37 They can't find anyone but there is a little boy 00:26:11.40\00:26:14.00 who was in the line and his dad was there 00:26:14.04\00:26:16.47 and they took him into the room 00:26:16.50\00:26:18.21 and came out and they said to the father, 00:26:18.24\00:26:20.41 "We found this antigen in your son's blood." 00:26:20.44\00:26:23.81 And the news begin to resonate throughout the city, 00:26:23.85\00:26:25.81 they found the antigen and they said to the father, 00:26:25.85\00:26:27.92 "But there is only one problem." 00:26:27.95\00:26:29.52 He said, "What is that?" 00:26:29.55\00:26:30.89 He said, "You found the antigen in my son's blood." 00:26:30.92\00:26:32.25 But he said, "But we need all of his blood. 00:26:32.29\00:26:34.69 We are going to drain his body completely 00:26:34.72\00:26:37.33 but you have to give us permission." 00:26:37.36\00:26:39.26 And he said 00:26:39.29\00:26:40.63 "But you have a few moments with your son. 00:26:40.66\00:26:42.96 Just to say good bye 00:26:43.00\00:26:44.33 because the whole world is waiting for his blood" 00:26:44.37\00:26:47.60 and that group, that young man, 00:26:47.64\00:26:48.97 I mean, I'm just thinking about it, 00:26:49.00\00:26:51.51 he said the moments of just 00:26:51.54\00:26:52.87 spending with his son saying, "Hey, daddy, what's wrong?" 00:26:52.91\00:26:54.88 He said, "Son, you don't understand 00:26:54.91\00:26:57.38 but the whole world is counting on you." 00:26:57.41\00:26:59.51 Yes. Wow. That's incredible. 00:26:59.55\00:27:03.05 And it transformed 00:27:03.08\00:27:04.42 that young man's life, young Filipino, 00:27:04.45\00:27:06.65 he said, "I took that sermon, 00:27:06.69\00:27:08.09 copied and duplicated it 00:27:08.12\00:27:09.49 and went to college and just..." 00:27:09.52\00:27:11.09 He said, this is what he said, 00:27:11.13\00:27:12.53 he said, "This sermon changed my life, 00:27:12.56\00:27:14.30 I hope it changes yours." 00:27:14.33\00:27:16.00 Now he is a pastor 00:27:16.03\00:27:17.37 and at the Nevada-Utah Conference, 00:27:17.40\00:27:21.44 we baptized him. 00:27:21.47\00:27:22.80 And I think about just the thought of it, 00:27:22.84\00:27:25.17 you know, because it came through in urgency, 00:27:25.21\00:27:26.88 can you imagine today you saying to your children, 00:27:26.91\00:27:31.05 "Caleb, you know, the whole world is waiting." 00:27:31.08\00:27:35.55 "What do you mean, Papi?" 00:27:35.58\00:27:37.25 "We have to drain your entire blood, 00:27:37.29\00:27:38.62 you won't understand 00:27:38.65\00:27:39.99 but this is going to be a tough moment." 00:27:40.02\00:27:42.02 And so he is walking away. 00:27:42.06\00:27:44.26 "Daddy, daddy, why are you forsaking me?" 00:27:44.29\00:27:46.70 And when you think of the Communion service, 00:27:46.73\00:27:48.33 we cannot take it lightly because the Father didn't say, 00:27:48.36\00:27:51.80 "Yeah, see you on the other side." 00:27:51.83\00:27:53.30 Right. 00:27:53.34\00:27:54.67 Jesus entered these portals not knowing 00:27:54.70\00:27:57.51 that he would even survive it. 00:27:57.54\00:27:59.21 Wow. Yet he did it just to save us. 00:27:59.24\00:28:00.78 So the Communion service is so, 00:28:00.81\00:28:02.41 so ultimately special that it is not a service 00:28:02.44\00:28:04.88 that you could dismiss yourself from. 00:28:04.91\00:28:06.25 Yeah. 00:28:06.28\00:28:07.62 Who would be... 00:28:07.65\00:28:09.55 Now, I'm going to just give the final... 00:28:09.58\00:28:11.42 Who would treat Johnny 00:28:11.45\00:28:12.82 with disrespect when they recognize, 00:28:12.85\00:28:15.42 "Is this the man? 00:28:15.46\00:28:16.79 Is this Mr. Dinzey? 00:28:16.83\00:28:18.16 Oh, I want to thank you for what your son did. 00:28:18.19\00:28:20.80 My daughter can now live. 00:28:20.83\00:28:22.16 My family has survived because of the blood." 00:28:22.20\00:28:25.33 How could we disrespect the Father for giving 00:28:25.37\00:28:28.57 all of his son's blood? 00:28:28.60\00:28:30.61 So when it says, "The blood of Jesus Christ, 00:28:30.64\00:28:32.24 " when I read that text, 00:28:32.27\00:28:33.98 it takes me back to that kind of sacrifice. 00:28:34.01\00:28:37.65 Can you imagine a movie today like that 00:28:37.68\00:28:40.02 and then all of sudden in the end, 00:28:40.05\00:28:41.82 "For God's little world." 00:28:41.85\00:28:43.59 It would transform a person's life. 00:28:43.62\00:28:45.52 So the Communion service is a special thing, 00:28:45.55\00:28:47.56 sorry if I've taken so much time. 00:28:47.59\00:28:49.12 Praise the Lord for that testimony. 00:28:49.16\00:28:50.49 Tremendous. 00:28:50.53\00:28:51.86 Hearing that makes me think about what Christ went through 00:28:51.89\00:28:55.33 and I would like to share this with you guys. 00:28:55.36\00:28:57.53 This comes from Desire of Ages, page 439. 00:28:57.57\00:29:01.00 "When we see Jesus, 00:29:01.04\00:29:02.37 a man of sorrows and acquainted with grief 00:29:02.40\00:29:04.71 working to save the lost, slighted, scorned, derided, 00:29:04.74\00:29:08.41 driven from city to city till his mission 00:29:08.44\00:29:11.21 was accomplished. 00:29:11.25\00:29:12.58 When we behold Him 00:29:12.61\00:29:13.95 in Gethsemane sweating great drops of blood 00:29:13.98\00:29:16.62 and on the cross dying in agony, 00:29:16.65\00:29:19.55 when we see this, 00:29:19.59\00:29:20.96 self will no longer clamor to be recognized." 00:29:20.99\00:29:23.43 That's right. 00:29:23.46\00:29:24.79 And then going on into Isaiah chapter 53 00:29:24.83\00:29:27.36 starting at verse 5, 00:29:27.40\00:29:29.73 "But he was wounded for our transgressions. 00:29:29.76\00:29:32.83 He was bruised for our iniquities, 00:29:32.87\00:29:35.97 the chastisement of our peace was upon him 00:29:36.00\00:29:39.01 and with his strips we are healed. 00:29:39.04\00:29:42.28 All we like sheep have gone astray, 00:29:42.31\00:29:44.81 we have turned everyone to his own way, 00:29:44.85\00:29:47.68 and the Lord has laid on him the iniquity of us all. 00:29:47.72\00:29:50.79 He was oppressed and he was afflicted, 00:29:50.82\00:29:52.59 yet he open not his mouth. 00:29:52.62\00:29:54.69 He is brought as a lamb to the slaughter 00:29:54.72\00:29:57.23 and as a sheep before her shearers 00:29:57.26\00:29:59.59 is dumb or mute, so he openeth not his mouth. 00:29:59.63\00:30:04.13 He was taken from prison and from judgment 00:30:04.17\00:30:06.70 and who shall declare his generation, 00:30:06.74\00:30:09.64 for he was cut off out of the land of the living, 00:30:09.67\00:30:12.71 for the transgression of my people was he stricken. 00:30:12.74\00:30:15.94 And he made his grave with the wicked, 00:30:15.98\00:30:18.15 and with the rich in his death 00:30:18.18\00:30:20.12 because he had done no violence, 00:30:20.15\00:30:23.35 neither was any deceit in His mouth." 00:30:23.39\00:30:25.85 Wow. 00:30:25.89\00:30:27.22 Here's a man that came, 00:30:27.26\00:30:29.82 a daddy that came 00:30:29.86\00:30:31.19 and took the form of man 00:30:31.23\00:30:33.76 undefiled, doing good, 00:30:33.80\00:30:37.40 helping people, healing people, loving people, 00:30:37.43\00:30:41.14 but yet, He was treated in such a way. 00:30:41.17\00:30:42.97 He came to take on our sins, to die for us, to save us. 00:30:43.00\00:30:48.18 You know, someone who went through all that agony, 00:30:48.21\00:30:50.61 all that suffering, so undeserving, 00:30:50.65\00:30:53.68 you know, we deserve that death. 00:30:53.72\00:30:55.05 We deserve it. 00:30:55.08\00:30:56.65 But He came and took that for us. 00:30:56.69\00:30:58.72 You know, Communion is extremely special. 00:30:58.75\00:31:02.29 That's right. That's right. What a blessing. 00:31:02.32\00:31:05.29 You know, 00:31:05.33\00:31:06.66 I'm reminded of something I read by F.C. Gilbert, 00:31:06.70\00:31:10.77 you might ask yourself who was F.C. Gilbert. 00:31:10.80\00:31:13.70 F.C. Gilbert was a Jewish man 00:31:13.74\00:31:17.01 that was converted to Christianity, 00:31:17.04\00:31:20.38 particularly Seventh-day Adventism 00:31:20.41\00:31:22.61 and he said something about leaven 00:31:22.64\00:31:25.41 that captivated my attention. 00:31:25.45\00:31:28.68 You know, we have that scripture that says, 00:31:28.72\00:31:30.05 "Purge out the old leaven." 00:31:30.09\00:31:31.42 Yes. 00:31:31.45\00:31:32.79 He says that as a child... 00:31:32.82\00:31:34.79 I'm trying to remember correctly the story, 00:31:34.82\00:31:37.26 his father would take leaven 00:31:37.29\00:31:39.66 and put it in different places in the house 00:31:39.69\00:31:42.40 and he said it's a custom in those days of the Jews, 00:31:42.43\00:31:45.03 we're talking about the early 1900s, 00:31:45.07\00:31:47.47 to ask the children 00:31:47.50\00:31:49.10 go and find the leaven in the house. 00:31:49.14\00:31:52.07 And so they would go 00:31:52.11\00:31:53.48 and try to find all the leaven in the house. 00:31:53.51\00:31:55.91 Now he put leaven in different places. 00:31:55.94\00:31:58.35 And then there was something that he said, 00:31:58.38\00:32:00.65 "Lord, we have purged out the leaven." 00:32:00.68\00:32:03.52 And so it was a symbol of sin and he said, 00:32:03.55\00:32:06.65 "We have purged out the leaven 00:32:06.69\00:32:08.52 and we pray 00:32:08.56\00:32:10.13 that you will cleanse this house of all sin, 00:32:10.16\00:32:14.16 those that we know of," 00:32:14.20\00:32:16.20 because they found some in 00:32:16.23\00:32:17.63 and there is a little something they said just in case 00:32:17.67\00:32:19.97 that one of those little pieces of bread 00:32:20.00\00:32:22.10 that had leaven in it, 00:32:22.14\00:32:23.91 a mouse came in and took it 00:32:23.94\00:32:25.27 and took it into its little hole 00:32:25.31\00:32:27.61 and they couldn't find it. 00:32:27.64\00:32:29.24 And so they said a little phrase, 00:32:29.28\00:32:30.85 "Lord, cover us and cleanse us 00:32:30.88\00:32:33.08 from all sin those that we know of 00:32:33.11\00:32:35.38 and those that we do not know of 00:32:35.42\00:32:36.75 and those that we're able to find." 00:32:36.79\00:32:38.59 And so we need to come to Christ 00:32:38.62\00:32:41.06 and confess all our sins, 00:32:41.09\00:32:42.46 you know, and there are times when the Lord, 00:32:42.49\00:32:44.96 through the Holy Spirit brings a certain sin 00:32:44.99\00:32:47.76 that we have committed upon us 00:32:47.80\00:32:49.46 especially during Communion service, 00:32:49.50\00:32:51.43 we are to confess that sin. 00:32:51.47\00:32:53.50 But perhaps your mind, you may not remember everything 00:32:53.54\00:32:56.91 but you must ask the Lord to cleanse you from all sin 00:32:56.94\00:33:00.48 because when we confess our sins he is faithful 00:33:00.51\00:33:03.65 and just to forgive us our sins 00:33:03.68\00:33:05.55 and cleanse us from all unrighteousness. 00:33:05.58\00:33:08.02 And so, you know, we're talking about the Blood of Christ 00:33:08.05\00:33:11.72 and that the grape juice and we stressed grape juice, 00:33:11.75\00:33:16.46 the word in the Bible and the Bible 00:33:16.49\00:33:18.93 uses the word vine, 00:33:18.96\00:33:20.76 but this is a pure grape juice that we use 00:33:20.80\00:33:25.37 in the Seventh-day Adventist Church 00:33:25.40\00:33:27.57 because only pure grape juice 00:33:27.60\00:33:31.77 can rightly represent the Blood of Christ. 00:33:31.81\00:33:35.38 We understand there are some Christians 00:33:35.41\00:33:37.35 that use actual wine which has been fermented 00:33:37.38\00:33:40.25 and that does not represent the Blood of Christ correctly. 00:33:40.28\00:33:45.29 And perhaps Pastor Lomacang 00:33:45.32\00:33:46.65 may want to add something to that. 00:33:46.69\00:33:48.12 Well, you know, my wife was saying, 00:33:48.16\00:33:51.03 it's the fruit of the vine. 00:33:51.06\00:33:52.63 It's the fruit of the vine. 00:33:52.66\00:33:54.33 You cannot any intoxicating, 00:33:54.36\00:33:57.57 you know, you found from the Old to the New Testament 00:33:57.60\00:34:00.14 the Lord spoke against that which intoxicates, 00:34:00.17\00:34:02.84 and we know statistically or medically, 00:34:02.87\00:34:05.21 some people may say, 00:34:05.24\00:34:06.57 "Well, you know, you have this continual secular argument, 00:34:06.61\00:34:08.28 but a little bit of wine, a little bit of wine is okay, 00:34:08.31\00:34:10.15 a little bit of wine..." 00:34:10.18\00:34:11.51 No, but it kills the cells, 00:34:11.55\00:34:12.88 the cells are not replaced, alcohol does that. 00:34:12.91\00:34:15.52 But Jesus made it very clear 00:34:15.55\00:34:17.12 because he saw, he says, "Wine is a mocker. 00:34:17.15\00:34:20.09 Strong drink is raging anyone deceived thereby is not wise." 00:34:20.12\00:34:24.53 And then he refuses when he was on the cross. 00:34:24.56\00:34:26.66 The cheap Romans wine and vinegar 00:34:26.70\00:34:29.30 that they gave Him when He said, "I thirst." 00:34:29.33\00:34:31.27 He rejected that. He spat that out. 00:34:31.30\00:34:33.87 So He showed continuously He rejected that 00:34:33.90\00:34:36.30 so therefore He would not even be identified with it 00:34:36.34\00:34:40.04 because it is a fermenting, 00:34:40.08\00:34:42.58 stuporing process, not a freeing process, 00:34:42.61\00:34:45.85 you don't maintain your mind with it. 00:34:45.88\00:34:47.75 And He talked about, you know, who has woe, who has sorrow, 00:34:47.78\00:34:51.45 who has difficulty, who has bruises, 00:34:51.49\00:34:54.02 who sees things that he can't explain, 00:34:54.06\00:34:56.86 those who linger at wine, so He said, "No," 00:34:56.89\00:35:00.56 because this is the lamb 00:35:00.60\00:35:01.93 that taketh away the sin of the world, 00:35:01.96\00:35:04.07 not that adds to the sin of the world. 00:35:04.10\00:35:05.43 That's right. 00:35:05.47\00:35:06.80 And fermented wine was a symbol of sin. 00:35:06.84\00:35:09.04 So you don't add sin to Jesus. 00:35:09.07\00:35:10.64 He is a spotless one who takes away the sins. 00:35:10.67\00:35:13.17 Amen. Amen. 00:35:13.21\00:35:14.98 I want to go back to something that you said 00:35:15.01\00:35:18.38 when you're taking Communion, 00:35:18.41\00:35:20.22 the Lord reveals those sins 00:35:20.25\00:35:22.58 as you're praying for him to reveal that to you, 00:35:22.62\00:35:25.35 but Communion service is a week-long preparation, 00:35:25.39\00:35:29.96 you know, once you know Communion is coming, 00:35:29.99\00:35:34.83 it is to your benefit, 00:35:34.86\00:35:36.23 to our benefit to contemplate the cross, 00:35:36.26\00:35:39.07 to contemplate the life of Jesus, 00:35:39.10\00:35:42.10 the sacrifice throughout the week 00:35:42.14\00:35:44.41 to make prepare for your hearts 00:35:44.44\00:35:46.54 to be prepared to receive the blessing 00:35:46.57\00:35:48.44 that is in the Communion service. 00:35:48.48\00:35:50.61 I mean, we have so much counsel as to, 00:35:50.65\00:35:55.42 you know, what to do, get your life straight, 00:35:55.45\00:35:58.35 with the Lord, with your brethren, 00:35:58.39\00:36:00.09 with the family, 00:36:00.12\00:36:01.99 I love the opportunity 00:36:02.02\00:36:03.93 to wash my husband's feet at the Communion service 00:36:03.96\00:36:07.96 because we're busy serving our kids and our family 00:36:08.00\00:36:12.53 and others and it's humbling yet, 00:36:12.57\00:36:16.50 I do have such pride to wash my husband's feet 00:36:16.54\00:36:19.74 and to pray over him. 00:36:19.77\00:36:21.34 Not that I don't pray over him during the week, 00:36:21.38\00:36:23.24 even when he is asleep, 00:36:23.28\00:36:24.68 I put my hand on his head and I say, 00:36:24.71\00:36:27.32 "Lord, bless this man," 00:36:27.35\00:36:29.68 you know, but it is as a family unit, 00:36:29.72\00:36:34.19 I know how my kids look forward to Communion service. 00:36:34.22\00:36:37.56 They understood it 00:36:37.59\00:36:38.93 because we take the time to explain to them at home 00:36:38.96\00:36:42.36 so it will be a blessing for your children 00:36:42.40\00:36:44.63 if you will please just take time 00:36:44.67\00:36:47.54 to not just do your functions in the church 00:36:47.57\00:36:49.90 but educate your family, your children 00:36:49.94\00:36:52.71 so they too can embrace 00:36:52.74\00:36:54.21 the gift of the Communion service. 00:36:54.24\00:36:56.78 Amen. 00:36:56.81\00:36:58.15 You know, it's interesting 00:36:58.18\00:36:59.51 when you think about the pure grape juice. 00:36:59.55\00:37:02.15 How do you get pure grape juice? 00:37:02.18\00:37:04.79 You have to crush grapes 00:37:04.82\00:37:07.16 just as the body of Christ was crushed for us, 00:37:07.19\00:37:12.09 His body was crushed for us. 00:37:12.13\00:37:16.36 I mean the grapes are crushed to produce the grape juice, 00:37:16.40\00:37:18.73 the pure grape juice. 00:37:18.77\00:37:20.10 Broken. Broken, yes. 00:37:20.14\00:37:22.00 And so, you know, when you think about this 00:37:22.04\00:37:27.51 and you think about the Blood of Christ 00:37:27.54\00:37:29.08 and when you read first... 00:37:29.11\00:37:30.45 I should read that, we should read that. 00:37:30.48\00:37:33.08 1 Peter, chapter 1. 00:37:33.11\00:37:37.39 This is a marvelous, marvelous scripture 00:37:37.42\00:37:39.52 and if somebody finds it before me, you can read it. 00:37:39.55\00:37:41.42 1 Peter 1, I'm thinking of verse... 00:37:41.46\00:37:43.76 Nineteen. 00:37:43.79\00:37:45.89 Nineteen is it? Yeah, 18 and 19. 00:37:45.93\00:37:48.80 Let me begin in verse 18, 00:37:48.83\00:37:50.97 "For as much as you know 00:37:51.00\00:37:52.97 that you were redeemed with corruptible things," 00:37:53.00\00:37:56.07 that's why the wine, 00:37:56.10\00:37:57.74 it's the fermented wine 00:37:57.77\00:37:59.37 cannot symbolize the Blood of Christ. 00:37:59.41\00:38:02.14 "You were redeemed with corruptible things 00:38:02.18\00:38:04.05 as silver and gold from your vain conversation 00:38:04.08\00:38:07.12 received by tradition from your fathers 00:38:07.15\00:38:09.28 but with the precious blood of Christ 00:38:09.32\00:38:13.15 as of a Lamb without blemish and without spot." 00:38:13.19\00:38:17.99 And so it's like Pastor Lomacang said, 00:38:18.03\00:38:20.26 the Passover Lamb was selected, 00:38:20.30\00:38:22.63 it was inspected to make sure 00:38:22.66\00:38:24.70 it didn't have a single blemish upon it. 00:38:24.73\00:38:27.54 Why, because it was a symbol of Christ. 00:38:27.57\00:38:30.81 That was to come and die for us, 00:38:30.84\00:38:33.17 likewise, we have to use pure things 00:38:33.21\00:38:37.11 to make the bread 00:38:37.15\00:38:38.48 and pure things to make the wine. 00:38:38.51\00:38:41.18 And so when we think about Communion service, 00:38:41.22\00:38:46.32 we have to understand 00:38:46.35\00:38:47.69 that God wants to do something special for us. 00:38:47.72\00:38:51.43 So let's talk for a moment about there's a scripture 00:38:51.46\00:38:56.03 that says that you do announce 00:38:56.06\00:38:58.73 the Lord's death until he come. 00:38:58.77\00:39:01.20 Why do we have Communion service? 00:39:01.24\00:39:03.14 The Bible doesn't tell us 00:39:03.17\00:39:04.54 to do it once a year, twice a year, 00:39:04.57\00:39:08.78 it doesn't give us a specific amount of time, 00:39:08.81\00:39:11.28 but it says, "As often as you do this." 00:39:11.31\00:39:14.38 So in the Seventh-day Adventist Church, 00:39:14.42\00:39:16.48 Pastor Lomacang, Pastor of the Thompsonville, 00:39:16.52\00:39:19.05 Seventh-day Adventist Church, 00:39:19.09\00:39:20.42 how often do we have it at the Thompsonville church? 00:39:20.46\00:39:23.29 Once every 13 weeks, four times a year. 00:39:23.32\00:39:27.43 And as you said, the Bible doesn't give 00:39:27.46\00:39:28.83 any particular command 00:39:28.86\00:39:30.20 but one of the reasons why we choose not to do it 00:39:30.23\00:39:31.80 every week is to maintain its special importance 00:39:31.83\00:39:35.77 because while reputation is a good teacher, 00:39:35.80\00:39:38.04 sometimes when you do something 00:39:38.07\00:39:39.77 over and over and over and over again all the time, 00:39:39.81\00:39:42.11 it can sometimes lose its special import 00:39:42.14\00:39:45.15 and so we make it as ceremony, Communion service. 00:39:45.18\00:39:49.25 But it is to continually remind us 00:39:49.28\00:39:53.25 that as often as we do this, 00:39:53.29\00:39:55.59 you know, the Passover was done 00:39:55.62\00:39:58.99 to remind people of where they came from, 00:39:59.03\00:40:02.40 the Communion service is to remind us 00:40:02.43\00:40:04.40 where we're heading to. 00:40:04.43\00:40:05.87 Amen. 00:40:05.90\00:40:07.24 And you show the Lord's death until he comes. 00:40:07.27\00:40:10.37 So every time the Communion service 00:40:10.41\00:40:11.74 is carried out, 00:40:11.77\00:40:13.11 you're saying we're looking forward to the coming of... 00:40:13.14\00:40:14.94 You're showing the significance of His death till he comes. 00:40:14.98\00:40:19.81 Instead of looking back, we're looking forward. 00:40:19.85\00:40:21.95 So the communion service was a transition 00:40:21.98\00:40:24.45 between two economies. 00:40:24.49\00:40:26.96 They were out of Egypt when the Communion service, 00:40:26.99\00:40:30.89 they were now in the Promised Land. 00:40:30.93\00:40:32.26 They were not running as slaves. 00:40:32.29\00:40:33.63 They were reclining. 00:40:33.66\00:40:35.80 I could spend a little time on talking about 00:40:35.83\00:40:37.17 how to do the do the Communion service. 00:40:37.20\00:40:38.53 But they reclined in the circle on one side 00:40:38.57\00:40:41.50 so they were able to wash each other's feet. 00:40:41.54\00:40:44.01 Men washed the feet of the men, 00:40:44.04\00:40:45.57 the women washed the feet of the women. 00:40:45.61\00:40:47.38 At our church, we instituted a third aspect 00:40:47.41\00:40:50.78 because a lot of people say, 00:40:50.81\00:40:52.28 "Well, why would a wife want to wash her husband's feet?" 00:40:52.31\00:40:55.08 Well, you know, the presupposition 00:40:55.12\00:40:56.45 is they don't need to reconcile on anything either. 00:40:56.48\00:40:59.05 Hey, you don't get married for how many years now? 00:40:59.09\00:41:02.82 Twenty three. Twenty three. 00:41:02.86\00:41:04.39 Us thirty four. Well, Jason... 00:41:04.43\00:41:06.49 I'm still waiting to get in the game. 00:41:06.53\00:41:10.93 I'm waiting for the Lord to send the right one. 00:41:10.97\00:41:16.04 But we grow, we grow, 00:41:16.07\00:41:17.67 we go through challenges and trials 00:41:17.71\00:41:19.21 and difficulties and tribulations so we grow. 00:41:19.24\00:41:21.54 So it is so good for the benefit of the family 00:41:21.58\00:41:24.75 because communion is a family. 00:41:24.78\00:41:26.11 You told you had two sons. 00:41:26.15\00:41:28.95 My wife and I, 00:41:28.98\00:41:30.32 we switch between just men and women 00:41:30.35\00:41:34.76 and then the couples. 00:41:34.79\00:41:36.29 We go throughout the transition I think... 00:41:36.32\00:41:38.06 Our church does that. Our church does that. 00:41:38.09\00:41:40.53 And so it's good 00:41:40.56\00:41:41.90 because a lot of times people say, 00:41:41.93\00:41:43.50 "You know, honey, forgive me. 00:41:43.53\00:41:47.10 Sweetheart, I'm so sorry." 00:41:47.14\00:41:49.87 And we presuppose 00:41:49.90\00:41:51.77 that we don't need to reconcile anything 00:41:51.81\00:41:53.88 but it's a beautiful... 00:41:53.91\00:41:55.24 We are looking forward to the Lord's Second Coming. 00:41:55.28\00:41:58.11 We're confirming our walk with Christ. 00:41:58.15\00:41:59.71 That's right. 00:41:59.75\00:42:01.08 So when you get together as spouse, 00:42:01.12\00:42:02.45 it's strength than anything and at our church, 00:42:02.48\00:42:04.55 I love to see all the couples that the church is made of 00:42:04.59\00:42:08.09 when they get together and stand up 00:42:08.12\00:42:09.46 and they hug and say, 00:42:09.49\00:42:10.83 "Well, this is my first Communion 00:42:10.86\00:42:12.76 as a married couple." 00:42:12.79\00:42:14.66 Jason's is yet to come. 00:42:14.70\00:42:16.36 Indeed. Indeed. 00:42:16.40\00:42:17.73 So it's a beautiful thing. And we have a little model. 00:42:17.77\00:42:20.54 What's our model, honey? Okay. 00:42:20.57\00:42:22.40 Go ahead. 00:42:22.44\00:42:23.77 Together, forever, eternity in pure. 00:42:23.81\00:42:28.24 Amen. 00:42:28.28\00:42:29.61 So sometimes the silent... You guys all in love. 00:42:29.64\00:42:32.78 Aw. 00:42:32.81\00:42:34.65 And so sometimes silently crossing, I'll go. 00:42:34.68\00:42:39.69 Now, look at this. 00:42:39.72\00:42:41.06 Two and four is what six and one is seven. 00:42:41.09\00:42:45.09 Perfect number. 00:42:45.13\00:42:47.26 All of a sudden it dawned on us a while ago, 00:42:47.30\00:42:49.13 one day wait a minute, two, four, seven. 00:42:49.16\00:42:52.37 Now we know your secret. 00:42:52.40\00:42:56.27 Just us three here. Nobody else knows. 00:42:56.30\00:42:59.67 We just told everybody our secret. 00:42:59.71\00:43:01.41 The whole world knows. Praise God. 00:43:01.44\00:43:03.41 But we look forward to that 00:43:03.45\00:43:04.78 and Communion service helps us remember, 00:43:04.81\00:43:06.48 "Honey, you know, 00:43:06.51\00:43:07.92 because we're in the frontlines at church." 00:43:07.95\00:43:10.05 That's right. 00:43:10.09\00:43:11.42 My wife is the wife of Pastor, 00:43:11.45\00:43:12.82 everything she does is viewed, 00:43:12.85\00:43:15.16 she can give license to something 00:43:15.19\00:43:16.52 or no license to something 00:43:16.56\00:43:17.89 by her whole life, same thing by me. 00:43:17.93\00:43:20.06 And as it the difficult thing you know, 00:43:20.10\00:43:21.56 sometimes the pastor is stressed out 00:43:21.60\00:43:22.93 and he comes home and shares with his wife 00:43:22.96\00:43:24.30 and she prays for me many days 00:43:24.33\00:43:25.67 and as you mentioned you pray for Johnny. 00:43:25.70\00:43:27.64 What do you do, honey? I pray for you. 00:43:27.67\00:43:30.51 Same thing in the night, I put my hand on his head... 00:43:30.54\00:43:32.91 Oh, you do too? Oh, yeah. 00:43:32.94\00:43:34.64 Oh, I've done that many... throughout the years 00:43:34.68\00:43:36.85 I put my hand on his head and ask the Lord to bless him. 00:43:36.88\00:43:39.75 He is fast asleep, snoring, 00:43:39.78\00:43:41.68 but I would just pray a blessing on him. 00:43:41.72\00:43:44.79 Women, do that for your husbands. 00:43:44.82\00:43:46.65 Pray a blessing on them. 00:43:46.69\00:43:48.02 And, my future wife, do that for me 00:43:48.06\00:43:51.39 when you come and I'm asleep. 00:43:51.43\00:43:52.96 When you see the Communion, it's so beautiful. 00:43:56.13\00:43:58.20 You commune together, 00:43:58.23\00:43:59.57 you travel together as you both do, 00:43:59.60\00:44:00.94 you talk together, you pray together, 00:44:00.97\00:44:02.54 you laugh together, you cry together. 00:44:02.57\00:44:04.04 Yes. That's right. 00:44:04.07\00:44:05.41 You struggle together, 00:44:05.44\00:44:06.78 you experience successes together. 00:44:06.81\00:44:08.14 And so it's a special commemoration for both of us 00:44:08.18\00:44:11.71 when we get together in the Communion service. 00:44:11.75\00:44:13.72 And I kneel down before my wife and say, 00:44:13.75\00:44:16.02 "Honey, let's pray 00:44:16.05\00:44:17.39 before we wash each other's feet." 00:44:17.42\00:44:19.45 And then she prays for me 00:44:19.49\00:44:20.96 and I wash her feet and vice versa. 00:44:20.99\00:44:22.32 Yeah. 00:44:22.36\00:44:23.69 And somebody once said, 00:44:23.73\00:44:25.06 "Why do we have Communion services for couples? 00:44:25.09\00:44:27.86 And I said... 00:44:27.90\00:44:29.33 You know, the reason why I understood it 00:44:29.36\00:44:31.03 because this person was single. 00:44:31.07\00:44:32.87 And I said, 00:44:32.90\00:44:34.24 "When you get married you'll understand why." 00:44:34.27\00:44:38.01 But you know, it's interesting 00:44:38.04\00:44:40.14 because the Seventh-day Adventist Church, 00:44:40.18\00:44:42.84 I haven't researched to find out 00:44:42.88\00:44:44.21 how many other denominations wash their feet, 00:44:44.25\00:44:49.15 but the Seventh-day Adventist Church 00:44:49.18\00:44:50.55 does practice the foot washing 00:44:50.59\00:44:53.15 as we've been talking about here. 00:44:53.19\00:44:55.06 And I want to go to John chapter 13 00:44:55.09\00:44:58.36 to talk about this 00:44:58.39\00:44:59.73 because this is a very important aspect. 00:44:59.76\00:45:01.56 It was part of the Last Supper experience. 00:45:01.60\00:45:05.43 And so let's take a look at it in John 13 00:45:05.47\00:45:09.47 and I'll begin reading 00:45:09.50\00:45:13.27 verse 3, 00:45:13.31\00:45:16.95 "Jesus knowing that the Father had given 00:45:16.98\00:45:19.08 all things into His hands, 00:45:19.11\00:45:20.68 and that He was come from God, and went to God. 00:45:20.72\00:45:23.28 He riseth from supper, and laid aside His garments, 00:45:23.32\00:45:26.76 and took a towel, and girded Himself. 00:45:26.79\00:45:29.12 After that, He poured water into a basin 00:45:29.16\00:45:31.49 and began to wash the disciples' feet, 00:45:31.53\00:45:34.16 and to wipe them with the towel where with He was girded. 00:45:34.20\00:45:37.37 Then cometh He to Simon Peter, 00:45:37.40\00:45:39.53 and Peter saith unto him, 'Lord, thus thou wash my feet?' 00:45:39.57\00:45:43.41 Jesus answered and said unto him, 00:45:43.44\00:45:45.21 'What I do thou knowest not now, 00:45:45.24\00:45:48.04 but thou shalt know hereafter.' 00:45:48.08\00:45:50.25 Peter saith unto him, Thou shalt never wash my feet. 00:45:50.28\00:45:53.75 Jesus answered him, 00:45:53.78\00:45:55.58 'If I wash thee not, thou hast no part with me.' 00:45:55.62\00:46:00.39 Simon Peter saith unto Him, 00:46:00.42\00:46:01.76 'Lord, not my feet only,' he understood, 00:46:01.79\00:46:04.36 'but also my hands and my feet.'" 00:46:04.39\00:46:06.80 "Jesus said unto him, 00:46:06.83\00:46:08.16 'He that is washed needeth not save to wash his feet, 00:46:08.20\00:46:12.03 but is clean every whit, and ye are clean, 00:46:12.07\00:46:15.47 but not all.' 00:46:15.50\00:46:17.61 For he knew who should betray Him, 00:46:17.64\00:46:19.97 therefore said He, 'Ye are not all clean.'" 00:46:20.01\00:46:22.51 So let's talk a little bit about this experience here, 00:46:22.54\00:46:25.68 a lot here that we do not have enough time to talk about. 00:46:25.71\00:46:29.02 But we understand that a servant... 00:46:29.05\00:46:33.82 Jesus was not supposed to be washing the disciples' feet, 00:46:33.86\00:46:36.46 He was the master, He was the leader among them. 00:46:36.49\00:46:40.60 So one of the disciples 00:46:40.63\00:46:41.96 should have stood up to do this, 00:46:42.00\00:46:43.43 but, you know, 00:46:43.47\00:46:45.80 "I'm supposed to sit next to Him on the throne, 00:46:45.83\00:46:47.44 I'm not washing his feet, 00:46:47.47\00:46:48.94 I'm not washing other people's feet." 00:46:48.97\00:46:50.31 So none of them wanted to get up 00:46:50.34\00:46:52.17 and Jesus gave them an example. 00:46:52.21\00:46:55.21 Speaking of which 00:46:55.24\00:46:56.58 oh, I got something I want to share. 00:46:56.61\00:46:58.61 Can I jump in here? Go for it. 00:46:58.65\00:47:01.58 So speaking of washing feet, 00:47:01.62\00:47:04.79 now this comes from Mind, Character, 00:47:04.82\00:47:06.15 and Personality volume One, 00:47:06.19\00:47:07.66 "It's God's remedy 00:47:07.69\00:47:09.02 for selfishness and self-exaltation." 00:47:09.06\00:47:11.43 Now we all know that Jesus was the most selfless ever. 00:47:11.46\00:47:16.83 And He's the most selfless ever. 00:47:16.87\00:47:19.57 So "There is in man a disposition 00:47:19.60\00:47:22.54 to esteem himself more highly than his brother, 00:47:22.57\00:47:25.71 to work for self, to seek the highest place, 00:47:25.74\00:47:27.91 and often this results in evil surmisings 00:47:27.94\00:47:30.15 and bitterness of spirit. 00:47:30.18\00:47:31.88 The ordinance of foot washing 00:47:31.91\00:47:34.12 preceding the Lord's Supper 00:47:34.15\00:47:35.48 is to clear away these misunderstandings, 00:47:35.52\00:47:37.49 to bring man out of his selfishness, 00:47:37.52\00:47:39.75 down from his stilts of self-exaltation, 00:47:39.79\00:47:42.29 to the humility of heart 00:47:42.32\00:47:44.46 that will lead him to serve his brother. 00:47:44.49\00:47:47.26 The Holy Watcher from heaven 00:47:47.30\00:47:48.80 is present at this season to make it 00:47:48.83\00:47:50.93 one of soul searching, of conviction of sin, 00:47:50.97\00:47:53.67 and of the blessed assurance of sins forgiven. 00:47:53.70\00:47:56.57 Christ in the fullness of His grace 00:47:56.60\00:47:58.17 is there to change the current of the thoughts 00:47:58.21\00:48:01.04 that have been running in selfish channels. 00:48:01.08\00:48:03.21 The Holy Spirit quickens the sensibilities 00:48:03.24\00:48:05.75 of those who follow the example of their Lord." 00:48:05.78\00:48:09.65 I like that. Amen. 00:48:09.68\00:48:11.72 Humility and so one is the Communion service 00:48:11.75\00:48:16.52 the other one is the ordinance of humility 00:48:16.56\00:48:19.89 because get off your stilts, I love that quotation, 00:48:19.93\00:48:22.36 Ellen White from Mind, Character, and Personality, 00:48:22.40\00:48:25.10 "Get off of your stilts." 00:48:25.13\00:48:26.47 Because there's a lot of pride in so many people 00:48:26.50\00:48:28.77 when you think about it, 00:48:28.80\00:48:30.14 one of the reasons why the disciples 00:48:30.17\00:48:31.51 didn't get down and wash each other's feet 00:48:31.54\00:48:33.01 is because lot of pride. 00:48:33.04\00:48:34.91 They were contending 00:48:34.94\00:48:36.28 for the first place among themselves. 00:48:36.31\00:48:37.65 Honey, read verse 14. 00:48:37.68\00:48:39.01 And this is why we do it 00:48:39.05\00:48:40.38 because people might say, "Why do you do it?" 00:48:40.42\00:48:41.92 Yes, good. 00:48:41.95\00:48:43.28 "If I then, your Lord and Teacher, 00:48:43.32\00:48:47.66 have washed your feet, 00:48:47.69\00:48:49.82 you also ought to wash one another's feet." 00:48:49.86\00:48:53.19 And verse 15. 00:48:53.23\00:48:54.56 "For I have given you an example, 00:48:54.60\00:48:56.80 that you should do as I have done to you." 00:48:56.83\00:49:00.50 Amen. 00:49:00.54\00:49:01.87 And so you see people might feel, 00:49:01.90\00:49:03.77 "Why do they do that?" 00:49:03.81\00:49:05.91 Here is the key, what would Jesus do? 00:49:05.94\00:49:08.41 Yeah. That sounds it all. 00:49:08.44\00:49:11.48 What would Jesus do? Amen. What would Jesus do? 00:49:11.51\00:49:13.92 We kept the Sabbath. 00:49:13.95\00:49:15.28 "Why do you keep the Sabbath?" 00:49:15.32\00:49:16.65 "What would Jesus do?" Exactly. 00:49:16.69\00:49:18.02 You'll never be lost 00:49:18.05\00:49:19.49 if you would do what Jesus did. 00:49:19.52\00:49:20.89 And He specifically said, "I've given you an example." 00:49:20.92\00:49:23.43 That's right. 00:49:23.46\00:49:24.79 "That you should do as I have done." 00:49:24.83\00:49:27.53 You could follow Jesus and say, 00:49:27.56\00:49:29.56 "I have a perfect reason 00:49:29.60\00:49:31.63 for why I do what I do, He did." 00:49:31.67\00:49:33.54 That's right. Amen. 00:49:33.57\00:49:34.94 May I read 16 and 17? Go ahead. 00:49:34.97\00:49:37.37 "Most assuredly I say to you 00:49:37.41\00:49:40.08 a servant is not greater than his master, 00:49:40.11\00:49:43.55 nor is he who is sent greater than he who sent him. 00:49:43.58\00:49:47.98 If you know these things, 00:49:48.02\00:49:50.42 blessed are you if you do them." 00:49:50.45\00:49:53.56 Amen. Wonderful. 00:49:53.59\00:49:55.36 So many blessings in this one. 00:49:55.39\00:49:56.73 And the word blessing also means happy. 00:49:56.76\00:49:59.09 That brings about a joy. Oh, pastor. 00:49:59.13\00:50:02.56 Yeah, it brings about the joy. 00:50:02.60\00:50:04.23 Well, you go ahead. 00:50:04.27\00:50:05.60 Well, you know, with communion service, 00:50:05.63\00:50:08.30 please, this is supposed to be a solemn event. 00:50:08.34\00:50:11.41 Yes. 00:50:11.44\00:50:13.24 This is supposed to be something that we celebrate. 00:50:13.27\00:50:16.75 That's right. We're celebrating. 00:50:16.78\00:50:19.08 We solemn, we... 00:50:19.11\00:50:22.15 We are grateful. We're grateful. 00:50:22.18\00:50:23.95 Because Jesus died for us. Exactly. 00:50:23.99\00:50:25.99 And made provisions so that we can be forgiven. 00:50:26.02\00:50:27.92 Yes. 00:50:27.96\00:50:29.29 My heart, when I contemplate the cross it prays and I, 00:50:29.32\00:50:33.29 oh, the song, Via Dolorosa, 00:50:33.33\00:50:37.73 you know, if somebody is singing it or... 00:50:37.77\00:50:41.60 and in Monte Calvario which is... 00:50:41.64\00:50:43.37 On a hill. That's right. On a hill far away. 00:50:43.41\00:50:47.28 You know, these songs, 00:50:47.31\00:50:49.34 those hymns prepare your spirit, your heart, 00:50:49.38\00:50:52.55 and takes your eyes off of you and your problems 00:50:52.58\00:50:55.45 and put it into problem solver. 00:50:55.48\00:50:57.25 That's right. And your savior. 00:50:57.29\00:50:59.45 So all the preparation that you can do 00:50:59.49\00:51:02.89 before coming to church 00:51:02.92\00:51:05.06 to worship on Sabbath 00:51:05.09\00:51:06.43 or just sit and just spend time with the Lord, 00:51:06.46\00:51:12.90 the right music to focus on your thoughts on Him. 00:51:12.93\00:51:16.44 That's right. 00:51:16.47\00:51:17.81 Everything adds up to your experience of Sabbath. 00:51:17.84\00:51:21.34 Everything. Everything. 00:51:21.38\00:51:22.71 I would like to read this scripture from John 13, 00:51:22.74\00:51:25.95 because after He washed the disciples feet 00:51:25.98\00:51:29.68 Jesus said something that is very important 00:51:29.72\00:51:31.82 and that is in verse 13, 00:51:31.85\00:51:34.96 "You call me Master and Lord, 00:51:34.99\00:51:37.83 and you say well, for so I am." 00:51:37.86\00:51:39.56 Verse 14. 00:51:39.59\00:51:40.93 "If I then, your Lord and Master, 00:51:40.96\00:51:42.30 have washed your feet, 00:51:42.33\00:51:43.67 ye also ought to wash one another's feet." 00:51:43.70\00:51:45.53 And so he was saying to them the fact 00:51:45.57\00:51:47.47 that I wash your feet doesn't make me... 00:51:47.50\00:51:50.64 You should not lose respect for who I am. 00:51:50.67\00:51:53.21 That's right. 00:51:53.24\00:51:54.58 So therefore He wanted to make that clear. 00:51:54.61\00:51:56.14 Yes, amen. 00:51:56.18\00:51:57.51 I'm still your Master, I am still your Teacher. 00:51:57.55\00:51:59.18 Yeah. 00:51:59.21\00:52:00.55 But you should also wash one another's feet. 00:52:00.58\00:52:03.05 And so I like the happy are you if you do this blessed. 00:52:03.08\00:52:06.86 And so I want to encourage those of you 00:52:06.89\00:52:11.03 that perhaps in the past, 00:52:11.06\00:52:13.40 "Oh, no it's Communion service." 00:52:13.43\00:52:14.86 And you either stay home 00:52:14.90\00:52:16.67 or you go to another church to avoid Communion service. 00:52:16.70\00:52:20.24 For whatever reason it may be, whether you think, 00:52:20.27\00:52:22.70 "Oh, it's going to be long. 00:52:22.74\00:52:24.07 Oh, I don't want to wash somebody's feet 00:52:24.11\00:52:25.57 or I'm not spiritually prepared." 00:52:25.61\00:52:28.01 You know, these disciples questioned, 00:52:28.04\00:52:29.81 were they spiritually prepared for their communion service? 00:52:29.84\00:52:34.42 Perhaps they were, perhaps some of them weren't. 00:52:34.45\00:52:36.72 One of them Jesus said specifically, 00:52:36.75\00:52:38.65 "You are all clean, but not all of you." 00:52:38.69\00:52:41.92 And yet Judas took part in the bread, 00:52:41.96\00:52:46.56 Judas took part in the vine, the grape juice, 00:52:46.59\00:52:49.86 and Jesus washed his feet, 00:52:49.90\00:52:52.40 but his heart was not humbled, 00:52:52.43\00:52:54.97 he could not receive the blessing 00:52:55.00\00:52:56.50 that Christ wanted to give him. 00:52:56.54\00:52:58.57 And so I want to say 00:52:58.61\00:53:00.14 humble yourself before the Lord, 00:53:00.18\00:53:02.54 come to the Communion service understanding that 00:53:02.58\00:53:04.55 is that at a time of spiritual renewal, 00:53:04.58\00:53:07.88 a time of blessing. 00:53:07.92\00:53:09.92 And perhaps, Pastor Lomacang, 00:53:09.95\00:53:11.89 I don't know if you want to share this now, 00:53:11.92\00:53:13.69 you know, that I mentioned the... 00:53:13.72\00:53:16.86 Agape.
