00:01 I want to spend my life
00:07 Mending broken people 00:12 I want to spend my life 00:18 Removing pain 00:23 Lord let my words 00:29 Heal a heart that hurts 00:34 I want to spend my life 00:40 Mending broken people 00:45 I want to spend my life 00:51 Mending broken people 01:07 Hello, and happy Sabbath. 01:08 And welcome to today's Family Worship. 01:11 We just welcome our family at home. 01:14 And we welcome our family here at 3ABN. 01:17 It's so good to have each and every one of you. 01:19 And we have some blood family here today. 01:21 Pastor Kelly. 01:23 We're all blessed, praise the Lord. 01:24 Yeah, brethren in Christ, that's right but this one-- 01:25 That's exactly. 01:27 That's the way we feel about. 01:28 We've got your baby sister, Tammy. 01:29 Oh, that's right; it's a treat for us. 01:31 I love babies that's, that's good. 01:34 At my age, that sounds wonderful. 01:35 That's exactly right. 01:36 But by the way, my name is Chris Shelton, 01:38 this is Pastor Kenny Shelton. 01:40 And the baby sister is Tammy Chance. 01:43 And her husband next to her is Bruce Chance. 01:46 And then we have, 01:48 our dear sister in the Lord, 01:49 Jill and her husband Greg Morikone. 01:51 Nice to be here Always a treat. 01:52 It's a privilege to open up God's word. 01:54 And you know, to share worship together. 01:56 It's a privilege. 01:58 It truly, truly, truly is. 02:00 As you know, we prepare to give and to share 02:03 with those of you are at home. 02:04 We're always blessed. 02:06 We grow, we grow in the spirit of Christ. 02:08 Amen. So it is-- 02:09 We always, we don't always look for an opportunity. 02:11 When someone says, 02:12 you don't need to do a program or come together, 02:14 I always think of word in due season. 02:16 There's somebody that needs a word. 02:19 Somebody needs an encouragement. 02:20 Someone needs to be drawn close to Christ. 02:22 Someone's in the valley of decision. 02:24 Someone thinking even 02:26 really, everyday, every moment, taking their own life. 02:28 Or maybe taking the life of others. 02:30 They need a word in due season. 02:32 And we always pray. 02:34 I know each one of us, 02:35 we pray everyday that God will help us 02:36 to be able to give that word in due season 02:38 to give hope to someone who seemed hopeless. 02:40 You know, just to reach out and touch someone 02:43 and I know that God's gonna do it 02:44 to this program. 02:45 The Holy Spirit's gonna do, I just know it. 02:47 And you know, we have one more family member with us 02:50 and she's at the piano, ET Everett. 02:52 I know you've seen her on 3ABN many, many times. 02:56 She is going to be playing for us. 02:58 And for those of you who's been watching 02:59 our Family Worship when Pastor Kenny and I, 03:02 he always gives a disclaimer that we're really not senior. 03:06 So I'm assuming, I'm assuming that he can't 03:09 really get that disclaimer across the board 03:11 because we've got his sister and we know she's a singer. 03:16 So what we've done is, we've given it all over to her. 03:19 So Tammy, what you gonna sing for us today? 03:20 Lead us in song. Okay. 03:22 Well, I want to say this-- 03:24 kind of going on what Kenny said 03:26 about songs, words, the Bible. 03:31 Everything can touch a person's heart. 03:33 Sometimes it's a song, sometimes it's a sermon. 03:36 I talked to someone recently who-- 03:38 and this is nothing about me. 03:40 This is she said, "I had lost all hope 03:43 and you sung a particular song." 03:45 And she said, "The words to that song, 03:47 it gave me hope." 03:49 And I just cried whenever she said that 03:51 to think that 03:52 God could even use me as an instrument. 03:55 So, right now, we want all of you at home to join us. 03:59 We're gonna sing a couple little courses. 04:01 I want to say that everybody out to know. 04:05 Everybody Ought To Know. 04:07 That's a good Sergey. Wonderful. 04:09 And Into My heart. 04:10 So I think, most of the viewers out there 04:12 you can join us, and please sing louder than us 04:15 because we're not a practiced rehearsed group for sure. 04:18 So, we want you to join in and sing as loud as you can 04:22 and we're gonna start out with Everybody Ought To Know. 04:31 Everybody ought to know Everybody ought to know 04:35 Everybody ought to know Everybody ought to know 04:38 Everybody ought to know Everybody ought to know 04:42 Who Jesus is Who Jesus is 04:45 Everybody ought to know Everybody ought to know 04:48 Everybody ought to know Everybody ought to know 04:52 Everybody ought to know Everybody ought to know 04:55 Who Jesus is Who Jesus is 05:00 He's the lily of the valley He's the lily of the valley 05:07 He's the brightest morning star He's the brightest morning star 05:13 He's the fairest of ten thousand 05:17 He's the fairest of ten thousand 05:20 Everybody ought to know. 05:25 Everybody ought to tell Everybody ought to tell 05:29 Everybody ought to tell Everybody ought to tell 05:32 Everybody ought to tell Everybody ought to tell 05:35 Who Jesus is Who Jesus is 05:39 Everybody ought to tell Everybody ought to tell 05:42 Everybody ought to tell Everybody ought to tell 05:46 Everybody ought to tell Everybody ought to tell 05:49 Who Jesus is Who Jesus is 05:54 He's the lily of the valley He's the lily of the valley 06:00 He's the brightest morning star He's the brightest morning star 06:07 He's the fairest of ten thousand 06:11 He's the fairest of ten thousand 06:14 Everybody ought to know. 06:19 Everybody ought to know Everybody ought to know 06:22 Everybody ought to know Everybody ought to know 06:26 Everybody ought to know Everybody ought to know 06:29 Who Jesus is Who Jesus is 06:35 Amen. Thank you. 06:36 Praise the Lord. 06:37 Doesn't ET do a wonderful job? 06:39 Yes, she does. 06:40 Beautiful chords. Awesome. 06:42 When I get to heaven, 06:44 I want to be able to play like that. 06:45 Me too, me too! 06:46 Oh, Jill! 06:48 Jill, you're there. 06:49 I' am not. 06:50 I put my request in already. 06:53 Next one is Into My Heart, 06:55 so I'm sure most of our viewers know that one. 06:57 It's simple little chorus. 06:58 And after that we'll have Pastor Kenny pray. 07:06 Into my heart 07:10 Into my heart 07:13 Come into my heart 07:17 Lord Jesus 07:21 Come in today 07:25 Come in to stay 07:29 Come into my heart 07:33 Lord Jesus 07:39 Out of my heart 07:43 Out of my heart 07:46 Shine out of my heart 07:49 Lord Jesus 07:53 Shine out today 07:57 Shine out always 08:01 Shine out of my heart 08:05 Lord Jesus 08:12 Glory. Amen. 08:13 Like to invite those of you who are at home. 08:16 You know, this is the time we gathered around. 08:18 Some of you maybe even can be in the fireplace yet. 08:20 Some of you, just your family altar. 08:22 You've open your Bible, 08:24 you want to receive what God has for you. 08:26 Why don't we just pray about it right now? 08:28 You can kneel where you're at. 08:30 We're gonna bow our heads and pray 08:31 for the power of the Holy Spirit. 08:33 Let's pray, shall we? 08:34 Merciful Father in Heaven, 08:36 truly we thank You for another Sabbath day. 08:39 We thank You for Your love, we thank You for your mercy. 08:41 We thank You for Your long suffering with us. 08:44 You've been with us. 08:45 You've given us victory through another week 08:47 and we thank You for it. 08:48 Lord, we praise, 08:50 we open the beautiful lovely pages of the word, Your word 08:54 that they will be come live to us, 08:56 that we will be able to hear Your voice 08:57 speaking to us. 08:58 Lord, we need to hear your voice. 09:00 We need to be encouraged. 09:02 We need to be strengthened in this hour 09:03 in which we live. 09:05 When there seems no hope, there's hope in You. 09:09 When our burdens are too heavy that we just cannot carry them. 09:12 You said You'll lighter our burden. 09:14 When it seemed like no one cares, 09:17 You said You care for us. 09:19 And so Lord, we pray as we open the pages. 09:22 You will speak to us. 09:23 Gather our minds, enlighten them 09:25 that we may hear Your voice. 09:27 We pray for each one who's at home, 09:29 those who are going through things 09:31 that we, we have no idea 09:32 what they're going through right now 09:34 but you do. 09:35 And so Lord, we lift each one up to You. 09:36 We're thankful that they have joined us. 09:38 We're thankful that by accident as it were some have tuned in. 09:43 And I know You'll give a word in due season. 09:45 Lives will be changed, hearts will be touched, 09:48 decisions made. 09:50 Not just for now but for eternity. 09:52 I thank You for this privilege 09:53 and for those who gathered around the table. 09:55 Those around the world, 3ABN. Bless us. 09:58 Now we pray with thy Holy Spirit. 10:01 We only want to hear You. 10:02 We only wanna know what truth is 10:03 and we thank you in Jesus' name. 10:05 Amen. Amen. 10:07 Amen. 10:09 Praise the Lord. 10:11 I have more worship. 10:12 you know? you already sense Jesus. 10:14 Amen. Yes that's Holy Spirit. 10:17 But we're going to begin today by talking about our defense, 10:20 my defense and temptation. 10:23 And we are all tempted. 10:24 We've all been born on this earth. 10:26 And we all live in this great conflict 10:29 between good and evil. 10:31 And our opening scripture is Psalms 119 and verse 11. 10:36 And it reads, "Thy word have I hid in my heart, 10:40 that I might not sin against thee." 10:45 We could talk the whole hour on that one verse. 10:50 On that one verse. 10:52 People read it and they don't really give it much thought 10:56 but how many of us are hiding God's word in our heart. 11:01 Every day, every moment of everyday 11:05 because that is our defense. 11:07 That is our defense against temptation. 11:09 We need to be filling up with Jesus. 11:11 Filling up with his word. 11:12 And that's how God communicates with us. 11:15 It's through His words. Amen. 11:16 So we're going to talk about-- 11:18 Well, you know, you talk about that word 11:19 about by, have I hid-- My heart. 11:21 I know we were to hide it in our heart. 11:24 But I believe this is not to stay there. 11:27 You put it in here which is means 11:28 heart and mind interchangeable, 11:30 certainly in scripture and we look at it. 11:32 We put it in here and here. 11:34 So that we not only help ourselves 11:36 but we may give it to someone who is in need. 11:39 So, He wants to let our light shine. 11:40 We hide it, that means we know, we understand it 11:42 and we give it to others. 11:43 And didn't we just sing Everybody Ought To Know? 11:47 And everybody ought to know 11:48 because God has given us this light 11:51 and so we need to be sharing, what we're reading, 11:54 what we're learning with our fellowmen. 11:56 And the best way, 11:58 Jill, I know you've got something in your heart, 11:59 did you see it? 12:01 That the best way that I've seen for years 12:03 is to pray for an open door. 12:05 Amen. That's powerful. 12:07 I was just going back to what you were talking about, 12:09 hiding God's word in our hearts. 12:11 And you know, you think. 12:12 If I just do surface reading. 12:14 If I open up my Bible, say in the morning, and I say, 12:17 "God, I only got five minutes today, 12:18 that's all I got". 12:20 And you start to read, and you rush off. 12:22 That's not hiding in deep, do you know I'm saying? 12:26 And to me, if we want God's word to be a defense, 12:29 at least in my experience. 12:30 If I want God's word to be a defense against Satan, 12:33 a defense against temptation, it's got to go deep. 12:37 You know, you got to spend that time in word of God, 12:39 like open up and eat it, you know? 12:43 And get that in your heart and in your mind 12:45 because then when Satan comes with the temptations 12:48 then we have that defense. 12:49 And it comes out again. 12:51 And I think that is so important. 12:53 It's so important to remind everyone at home 12:55 because we see time and time again 12:58 that the in the enemy is trying his very best 13:00 to throw the Bible out. 13:02 To discourage people, 13:04 to tell us it's not relevant anymore, 13:06 it doesn't fit our lifestyle anymore. 13:08 And so we need to change it, you know? 13:11 God says, "He's the same yesterday, today, and forever." 13:14 And so, He doesn't change, His word changes not. 13:18 And yet, here we think 13:19 human individuals, erring sinful people 13:22 that we can take God's Holy word 13:25 and change the scripture. 13:27 Sister Jill, would you mind to read that first paragraph? 13:29 Oh, you don't have to read the whole thing. 13:31 You can stop and start wherever you like 13:33 but just start it. 13:35 "If we would not be misled by error and falsehood, 13:39 the heart must be preoccupied with truth." 13:43 Can you stop there? 13:44 I wanted to stop there. Thank you. 13:45 I just thought I got to stop. 13:47 All right. Go ahead. 13:48 No, I was just thinking that preoccupied with truth. 13:51 Because it's so easy, Bruce, 13:53 as you know to go and turn on the radio, 13:55 and this and that, 13:57 and be preoccupied with everything thing else. 14:00 And we have to sometimes cognitively make decisions 14:04 that what I'm going to listen to 14:07 is something that's going to be uplifting something 14:09 that will draw us, you know. 14:11 Even if it's not bad within itself. 14:14 You see, sometimes you know 14:16 the enemy still tries to occupy our thought and our time 14:19 so we don't get the dig, dig up the soil of truth, 14:22 dig down deep, plant the seed deep. 14:24 You know, when the rain comes and all this. 14:26 So I think about it in myself some times, 14:28 getting caught up in things 14:29 that are not bad within themselves. 14:31 But just caught up enough that I'm preoccupied 14:34 till I can't spend the time that I need personally. 14:38 And there would be sometime, we'll talk about it. 14:40 Because I'm going into the room close the door. 14:43 Because it's good to drink water 14:44 but you can drink too much water, 14:46 you know what I'm saying? 14:47 So it comes down to balance like you're saying, 14:50 you can be way out of balance 14:51 on something that may seem sort of good. 14:53 I mean, God's word, you really. 14:54 I mean, to focus in on God's word, 14:56 that's the key right there. 14:58 Because you can memorize God's word. 15:00 But if it doesn't do anything in your life, 15:01 that's also, you know, like the Pharisees, Sadducees, 15:03 they knew God's word, they knew the scripture 15:06 but it's more than just also 15:07 knowing and memorizing the scriptures. 15:09 This how, is it affecting your life 15:11 for the positive, for what God wants. 15:13 In my old age, God's given me a great nugget 15:16 and of course, this could be 15:18 a whole another topic for worship, I guess. 15:20 ...will say some old age, that's not true. 15:21 You're not old age. Thank you. 15:24 She's at least 27. 15:26 She's at least 27 now. 15:28 All right, Greg, you check after we're done. 15:30 All right, all right. 15:32 Anyway, I'm sorry I've interrupted your thoughts. 15:33 That's okay. 15:35 I have found by the same way that-- 15:39 how can I say it-- 15:40 The scripture tells us to pray without ceasing. 15:43 I don't think I used to understand that 15:46 really what all that entailed 15:48 because it was, you know, in my mind when I was younger, 15:51 I would think, "Well, how can you 15:53 go in about your life 15:54 and be praying without ceasing?" 15:55 I find myself doing that constantly, constantly 15:59 because I need the help. 16:01 I don't know about anybody else. 16:02 But I need the help. 16:04 I don't like to worry about things. 16:06 We worry about our children. 16:08 We worry about everything you can think of. 16:10 And you know, 16:11 it's detrimental to our mental state, 16:14 to our physical state. 16:15 And so, along with this is, is to pray without ceasing. 16:20 And so I find myself just talking to God, 16:23 like I was talking to you right now, 16:24 all day long and say, "Oh, Lord, help me here" 16:28 Or, "What's going to happen here? 16:30 Well, I'm going to put this in your hands 16:31 because I can do nothing to change 16:34 whatever the situation is. 16:36 And so, and I'm going to be entrust it to you." 16:38 And you know what? 16:39 I'm healthier for it. 16:41 And I am healthier for it. Absolutely. 16:42 I am. Amen. 16:44 Physically and mentally. Right. 16:45 Praise the Lord. Good thought. 16:46 It is a great word there was at the occupied. 16:48 And I'm just interrupted my wife. 16:52 That's right. 16:53 It says, the heart must be preoccupied. 16:55 And that is a great word to describe-- 16:58 I'm going to interrupt her too 17:00 'cause I know she's got some on her heart 17:02 but don't you would know 17:03 that the devil knows this verse so well? 17:05 Absolutely. 17:07 That is why he's preoccupied us in the children 17:10 from such a very young age 17:12 because as we're occupied 17:13 and actually changing our thought patterns, 17:17 changing the way we think. 17:18 And I believe, even through our food, 17:21 by changing the food, it's changing our hormones. 17:25 And so the way we think, the way we react, 17:28 that is so different. 17:30 Look at the children, it's ADD and A-what. 17:32 You know, all these different initials now 17:34 for all these children 17:36 that you can't hold their attention. 17:37 Nothing can hold their attention. 17:39 And I mean, that is making Satan hilariously happy. 17:45 Jill, you've got to be about to-- 17:47 Come on. Pour it out. Light it up. 17:49 No, it's a preoccupation, 17:50 exactly what we've been talking about. 17:52 Because I think Satan is good at whatever God wants us to do. 17:57 Say, marriage, then Satan has a counterfeit, right? 18:00 So God says, "Keep my Sabbath day holy, 18:03 Satan has a counterfeit." 18:05 So whatever God made for us 18:08 for our betterment, for our good, 18:10 Satan has a counterfeit. 18:11 So I think this word "preoccupy," 18:13 Satan has a counterfeit. 18:15 You know, it causes preoccupy your mind 18:17 with the word of God, with prayer 18:18 I love what you said, Tammy. 18:20 And Saint says, I have a counterfeit. 18:22 It's called, video games. 18:24 Come on. TV. 18:27 Social media. Yeah. 18:29 Internet. Music. Everything. Yes. 18:32 Anything that will draw our minds and hearts from God. 18:35 And that's not saying 18:37 you're not supposed to keep up in with what's going on. 18:39 I'm not saying that. 18:40 But it's the balance. 18:41 Exactly, it's the balance. 18:43 We're preoccupied. 18:44 I'm going to throw a disclaimer in there, 18:46 not 3ABN TV. 18:48 Thank you. Thank you honey. 18:49 Just secular TV. 18:51 All the others but not 3ABN. That was good. 18:53 I'm glad you caught that. Thank you. 18:55 Yeah. Very good. Good thoughts. 18:57 Because he wants us preoccupied 19:00 but in things of the world, not the heavenly things. 19:04 Heavenly things, right? 19:05 It helps give us the victory that we need 19:07 when the temptation comes. 19:08 So tell me it is that growth? 19:10 Oh, absolutely. Yeah. 19:12 And there is growth, right? Yes. 19:13 And this talk about here, 19:15 we're to hide the word of God the truth. 19:17 John 17:17, "Sanctify them through thy truth, 19:21 thy word is truth." 19:22 And someone already mentioned. 19:23 We talked about truth 19:25 is you put it in your heart and your mind. 19:27 But again, I could, if I could memorize 19:29 every book of the Bible every word, 19:31 that doesn't mean I'm born again, 19:32 doesn't mean I'm going to heaven at all. 19:34 That's why I've said many times, 19:36 people come up and--" 19:37 I want to do this nicely." They'll come. 19:38 And I'm glad that there are 19:40 third and fourth generation Adventist. 19:42 That if they come up, shake hand 19:43 and they'll say, "I am a third-- 19:45 I'm a fourth generation Adventist." 19:47 And I say, "So what?" 19:49 Yeah. Yeah. 19:51 It just jars us to the reality and it's good. 19:53 But I'm just saying that the reality is, 19:55 that's not going to save you. 19:57 The word of God, truth hid in the heart 20:00 that changes my life. 20:02 This word would change my life, the truth. 20:05 And error will not, error won't change. 20:07 You know, the other way, it keeps you in the work. 20:09 But truth would change you. 20:11 So we need to take it in, let it do its work inside 20:14 and the fruits will certainly come out. 20:16 Sanctify them to the truth. 20:17 Preparation for heaven. 20:18 Okay, let's throw it back over to Jill, 20:21 see if you can get anymore of that-- 20:22 Let's get more of this stuff. 20:24 "The Word of God will furnish the mind 20:26 with weapons of divine power, 20:30 to vanquish the enemy." 20:33 Weapons in our mind power. 20:35 You know, it makes me think of 2 Corinthians. 20:37 It says, "Casting down imaginations, 20:38 and every high thing that exalts itself 20:41 against the knowledge of God, 20:42 and bringing into captivity every thought." 20:44 Every thought. Praise the Lord. Every thought. 20:46 And how important that is? It is. 20:48 And you know that I'm just being honest here, 20:49 with you here at home too. 20:51 That verse used to terrify me. 20:53 It's I think, 20:54 "God, I have thousands of thoughts every day, right?" 20:58 There's no way I can bring them 20:59 into captivity to your work, right? 21:02 It's just, "I can't, God, I can't." 21:04 And I gritted my teeth and I tried I couldn't. 21:08 No you couldn't. 21:09 And God says, well, you give them to Me, 21:11 where you let me come into your heart and mind 21:13 and work with that. 21:14 Yeah. Absolutely. 21:16 Beautiful. 21:17 And going back to the title, how well that fits 21:19 with the defense and temptation? 21:22 Because we were all so tempted. 21:24 And not just was secular things but it was religious things, 21:29 with religious confusion. 21:33 And so the verse you just quoted, 21:35 that's what we-- and this is why the Bible 21:38 and bringing the Bible to the forefront 21:40 to those of you at home listening, 21:43 don't listen when they tell you it's irrelevant. 21:46 It's God's word. 21:48 He moved upon men through the Holy Spirit. 21:51 And it was Him that, that enabled these people 21:55 to pen these words for our admonition 21:59 and to help us. 22:00 So, as we study, then our mind slowly become changed. 22:04 And I'm sure we've all been in the same boat 22:06 where we think there's no way I can be like that. 22:09 But the more time you spend, the more time I spend with God, 22:13 your thoughts change. 22:14 Amen. 22:16 Your thoughts change. 22:18 Your dreams change. 22:20 Everything begins to change. 22:22 Praise God. 22:23 But you have to, you have to hold fast. 22:25 Just thinking of your 2 Timothy, 22:27 a letter Paul wrote to Timothy 22:28 and at 1:13, I think 1:13 it says, 22:31 "Hold fast the form of sound words." 22:35 So, the sound words, the truth you have to hold faster 22:38 because the devil is going to do his best 22:40 to take it out of your hands 22:42 in any form, any fashion, any way in which he can. 22:44 He studies the human, the man, the woman 22:47 every day of their life. 22:49 And I thought how do I how do I hold fast 22:50 these form of, of sound words. 22:53 And what does that really mean? 22:54 And really, sound words are healthy. 22:57 I need to hold fast to the, to the healthy, 22:59 to the whole, to true, it talks about here. 23:03 The uncorrupt words. 23:05 I mean you think about all this stuff here 23:08 that's good for preaching and teaching 23:10 and conviction and conversion, you know, of hearts and lives. 23:13 So, this is what its-- 23:15 when you found a truth, 23:16 my brothers and sisters, hang on to that truth. 23:19 Don't let it go because it's firm, 23:20 because it's sound, 23:22 because it's built upon the rock 23:24 which is Jesus Christ. 23:26 We need that firm, foundation and certainly that is a rock. 23:30 And Kenny, to add to that, we've got to remember, 23:32 Satan is the master of deceit. 23:34 So we can't fight him on our own. 23:36 That's true. Thank you. 23:38 Only through Jesus Christ. That's right. 23:39 You know, what a good, what a good thought. 23:41 I was reading the other day. 23:42 Brother Bruce, as said. 23:43 And of course, we're talking Jesus and God. 23:46 Talked about this with spirit prophecy, 23:48 one of the line, it said, 23:49 "Only God can hold converse with the Devil." 23:54 Only God can defeat the enemy. 23:57 You talk about, of course, Jesus, God. 23:59 They're the only ones 24:01 that could be do battle with him 24:03 and win the battle on their own. 24:04 I thought how awesome that is. 24:06 I need that help. Yeah. 24:08 Where I'm gonna go down and defeat. 24:10 My son Josh, he has a line that he says all the time. 24:14 He says, "A person needs to find their passion in life." 24:18 And wouldn't that be wonderful 24:20 if all of our passions was Christ 24:23 and sharing the gospel and getting closer every day 24:26 to the character that God wants us to have? 24:29 That should be our passion first and foremost. 24:32 Amen. Amen. 24:33 Do you want to be a part of that 144,000? 24:36 That's what we need to be doing right now. 24:39 There's no time to waste. Amen. 24:41 Jill? Oh, go ahead. 24:43 I'm just going back. I like this. 24:44 Again, the word of God 24:46 will furnish the mind with weapons. 24:47 I mean that's, when I think of that, 24:49 I think of the Ephesians 6 where he talks about 24:50 put on the whole armor of God. 24:52 You might have been thinking about that too, Bruce. 24:53 Yeah, you know, the shield, the helmet. 24:55 And all of that yeah. 24:57 It's God's word is a weapon against Satan. 24:59 'Cause we're on a war, warfare aren't we? 25:01 We are. And this is a battle. 25:02 Yeah, not against flesh and blood. 25:04 That's right. Yes. 25:05 Principalities and powers. 25:08 It's heavy duty. 25:10 All right, let's see if we can. 25:12 "Happy is the man, we could say or woman--" 25:14 Thank you. 25:16 "--who when tempted finds his soul 25:18 rich in the knowledge of the scriptures, 25:21 who find shelter beneath the promises of God." 25:25 "Thy word of the hot sun mist have I head in mine heart. 25:29 And that I might not sin against thee." 25:32 You know what strikes me in that sentence? 25:34 It says, "Find shelter beneath the promises of God." 25:37 I would have thought we were above. 25:39 Like the rest on the promises, who knows that song? 25:42 "Standing on the promise and you know, 25:44 then long rest on God's promises." 25:46 But here we're finding shelter beneath. 25:50 Remember like his wings-- 25:52 Covering us. Covering us. 25:54 I don't know, that just came to my mind 25:56 when you were questioning. 25:57 And he covers us like, like baby chicks. 26:00 She you knows we're His children. 26:01 And you know-- 26:03 Shelter. Yes. 26:05 And in so many ways we are beneath those promises 26:08 because it's only by grace. 26:10 It's giving us what we do not deserve 26:13 that we have opportunity to even have those promises. 26:17 Amen. 26:18 You know, Book of James talks about here-- 26:19 And again, everybody, you just need a word in season. 26:21 Just say that I-- 26:22 it remind me of James Chapter 1, verse 12 26:25 because it talked about, "Happy is the man." 26:26 They said blessed, happy, cheerful 26:31 is the man that endures temptation. 26:32 'Cause why? 26:34 "For when he has tried, 26:36 he shall receive the crown of life." 26:38 Other words, unless we're tried what, 26:40 we're not going to receive a crown, are we? 26:42 And then prove victorious. 26:44 That's what the Crown indicates, 26:45 "Which the Lord have promised to them that love him." 26:48 Here's is the love thing, praise God. 26:50 We have to love him the whole heart, soul and mind. 26:52 So the crown, the victory is promised. 26:54 "But blessed is a man who endures temptation." 26:57 So if you're going to test and trials, 26:59 bless your heart at home 27:00 and you want to just give up and say, "What's the use?" 27:02 Let me tell you, you're in for a rude awakening. 27:05 Do not give up on Jesus. 27:07 They can get worse, trust me. 27:08 It can get worse, stay in there. 27:09 And it will get worse. It will. 27:11 It will get worse 27:12 'cause we've read the end of the book. 27:14 So there is no hope without God. 27:15 Without God. Yes. 27:17 Absolutely, absolutely. 27:19 Well, reading on it says, "This word, the word of God, 27:24 is to ever be in our hearts and on our lips." 27:26 And it can't be there unless we're putting it, right? 27:29 So we have a play, a part to play. 27:32 So many people say, "Well, I'm covered by grace, 27:34 I don't have to do anything. 27:35 I believe, you know." 27:37 I met people years ago, Tammy 27:38 that said, that they were saved and they never open the Bible. 27:42 In fact, if you went to their home, 27:43 you never heard anything about Jesus 27:45 but they were saved. 27:47 You know, but when you begin to open the word of God 27:50 and to actually put it into your heart and into your mind, 27:54 we begin to see that it reads a little bit different 27:57 than what many times we presumed that it does. 28:01 I like this next part. Me too. 28:03 You Jesus gave this example. Amen. 28:06 It is written, "He's to be our anchor." 28:11 Our anchor, what does an anchor do? 28:14 Holds you. 28:15 Amen. I know, we've-- 28:17 Storm too. You know, that's right. 28:18 Yes, we've been in a boat 28:20 in the storm and the wind blowing. 28:22 And that's frightening if the anchor is not there. 28:25 And it's not always the size of the anchor. 28:28 But that the anchor has a firm grip 28:31 on what they're going they are holding in place. 28:35 You know, and so we don't have an anchor. 28:37 We're just drifting we're just, with every wind of doctrine. 28:41 We're going this way, we're going that way 28:44 as we hear different things without the anchor 28:47 without it is written. 28:49 I like it is written. 28:50 It reminds me we're just studying recently 28:51 in the Sabbath school last thing. 28:53 You know, we're talking about the Great Controversy now, 28:55 and it reminds me of Matthew Chapter 4 28:58 and Jesus' example 29:00 when he went through temptation. 29:02 You know in three times, 29:03 Satan came against him with those temptations. 29:06 And each time he said those three words, 29:09 "It is written." 29:11 And remember the second temptation, 29:13 Satan actually misquoted the Bible, 29:15 do you remember that? 29:16 He quoted it to Jesus and, and Jesus came back again. 29:22 He knew the word of God, 29:23 he knew exactly what the word said 29:25 and he came back again with, "It is written." 29:27 And they're all back reference to Deuteronomy. 29:30 All the scriptures he quoted go back to there. 29:32 And I just think, God, Jesus had the words 29:36 so buried in his heart 29:39 that no matter what the temptation was 29:42 instantly-- 29:43 He came back. A scripture came out. 29:45 And I thought, "Oh, I want that." 29:47 You know, I want that in my life 29:49 and in my, my walk with God. 29:50 Sometimes you got to bring a scripture. 29:52 "Okay Jill, this is what you need in this man." 29:55 But sometimes I'm like, 29:56 I'm not sure what does that mean. 29:58 I got to get in the word of God more. 29:59 That's right, that's right. 30:03 I'm sorry, I'm losing my voice. 30:06 We can, like my memory is terrible-- 30:09 I mean it's just got worse, it's just really terrible. 30:11 I can hardly remember what I did yesterday, you know? 30:14 I'm sure I'm the only one like that 30:15 but anyway. 30:19 I used to-- can memorize when I was young. 30:21 I could memorize with really no effort whatsoever. 30:24 And now I have to read, read and read, 30:27 you know, to get it to soak in. 30:29 And yet as Jill said, 30:31 someone will come with a problem or a question 30:33 and it will just come to-- 30:34 The scripture will come into my mind 30:36 and I will speak it and I will think, 30:38 "Where did that come from 30:39 because I can't remember what I ate yesterday?" 30:41 You know, it's the Holy Spirit 30:43 because he says he will bring it to our, 30:45 to our mind when we need it. 30:47 And so he can't bring anything to your mind 30:49 that you not have her already put there. 30:51 So we have to put it there, then it will come out. 30:55 That's correct. And due season. 30:56 So the importance, 30:57 so that's a good and certainly a good point. 30:59 Absolutely. 31:00 But Tim, can I throw it over to you? 31:02 Would you continue reading in that second paragraph? 31:04 Okay, where we are at? 31:05 Those who make-- 31:07 Okay, "Those who make God's word, their counselor 31:10 realize the weakness of the human heart 31:13 and the power of the grace of God 31:15 to subdue every unsanctified, unholy impulse. 31:20 Their hearts are ever prayerful 31:22 and they have the guardianship of Holy Angels. 31:25 When the enemy come in 31:27 like a flood, the spirit of God, 31:29 the lifts up for them a standard against him. 31:32 There is harmony in the heart 31:34 for the precious, powerful influences of truth. 31:38 Bear sway." 31:39 Boy, each word was so powerful. 31:42 "The guardianship of Holy Angels." 31:45 I was just gonna to say that. 31:46 Part of one of my favorite verses 31:47 that I wrote down here was Psalms 34:7. 31:51 "The angel of the Lord in camp with round about then 31:54 that fear him and to live with him." 31:57 What a promise. 31:58 And I have claimed that promise many times. 32:01 And God has been faithful each and every time. 32:06 I also like, what you read there, 32:07 "The power of grace." 32:10 We don't often think about grace being powerful. 32:14 What's your thought about that? 32:16 It's the most powerful, I think. 32:19 When, when God bestows grace upon us. 32:22 There can be nothing more powerful 32:24 because we are so unworthy, 32:25 we're sinners, we don't deserve. 32:28 Exactly, we don't deserve eternity. 32:30 So, God be forced, so it can-- 32:32 Right, right. That's good. That's right. 32:33 We've read stories about kings that granted grace, 32:36 you know, to their subjects. 32:38 What more powerful thing is there 32:41 than that in grace? 32:42 By grace, by grace, we're saved, right? 32:44 Through faith--There's no, there's no other way. 32:48 You know, a lot of times people say, 32:49 "Well, you're an Adventist. 32:50 You know, their legalists they believe in by keeping, 32:52 and by doing, and by working, and by eating." 32:55 Bible says, "By grace are you saved through faith." 32:58 It is a gift of God. 33:00 Only way we always say it is by the grace of God 33:03 because you mentioned, brother Greg, 33:05 one of the death penalty. 33:06 Yes, we are. Think about. 33:07 We're on the death penalty and the only way 33:09 we can be saved by the grace of Jesus Christ, 33:12 one who was willing to come down, 33:13 one who is willing to take my place, 33:15 one who is willing to be, you know, take the lash too 33:18 and the whip, nailed to the cross 33:19 and every time-- 33:21 I love that song, When He Was On The Cross, 33:23 I Was On His Mind. 33:25 And I really believe that. I did too. 33:26 When he was there, he could have come down, 33:28 he could have called 10,000 angels. 33:30 He could have done it. 33:32 But he looked down the stream of time, 33:33 you see the every man and woman 33:34 on the earth would have been lost, 33:36 every human being would have been lost. 33:37 Everything was on his shoulders and what did he do? 33:40 He endured the cross. 33:42 He counted--I got so excited, 33:43 I could not understand what he said. 33:45 He endured--he with joy. 33:47 He endured the cross. 33:48 He brought him happiness and his heart 33:51 to say, I could do this because I love so much. 33:55 If we had that kind of love-- 33:58 And I mention this one time before, 33:59 I though how awesome this is, 34:01 that we have to have those fruits of the Spirit. 34:04 We have to love one another the way Christ loves us. 34:09 And I have to pray all the time, 34:10 "Lord, give me love for my fellowmen. 34:13 Give me love for you. 34:14 Help me to love you, help me love the truth, 34:16 help me to want to teach the truth, 34:17 help me to give the truth, help me live the truth." 34:19 So it's always about the truth, 34:21 to have it in my heart, in my mind. 34:23 But to love-- 34:24 That's right. 34:26 Listen, unless we love people the way Jesus loved them, 34:28 heaven will never be our home. 34:30 When I read that, I had to cry about it. 34:33 I came up short. Yeah, me too. 34:34 Not meaning to, not say, 34:36 "Oh, you just like, this person you don't see 34:37 this had nothing to do just individually." 34:40 I have to and I thought about this. 34:42 And you know, we are talking about people 34:44 and doing things. 34:45 And we really when we, unless we love them enough, 34:48 that we're willing to give our life to them, 34:50 we would never say anything to them, 34:52 unless we love, we'd never go to them a question. 34:54 Unless we willing to give our life. 34:57 And I honestly, it seems like an impossibility 34:59 to think that you have to love everyone no matter what. 35:03 It's not our human nature but yet I find that 35:07 with the scripture speaking to us 35:09 and with the constant being in prayer, 35:12 that all of a sudden 35:14 did you changed, you mind changes 35:16 where that you don't maybe look so harshly 35:19 on somebody that's maybe getting on your nerves 35:21 or you know, causing you grief 35:23 that you start to show them more mercy 35:26 because God is working in your mind and in your heart. 35:29 And you think. 35:31 "Well, you know maybe it's not impossible for them." 35:33 Because no more than you get right yourself with God, 35:37 the more other people don't look so bad, 35:38 you don't see their mistakes so much. 35:40 That the grace of God. That is the grace of God. 35:41 And we're talking about grace, but that is the grace of God, 35:44 working in our hearts and lives. 35:47 We're saved by grace. 35:48 Thank you. 35:50 And it's not only that, 35:51 I think God perfects his character in us by grace. 35:54 You know, his work in our lives and we can't do that. 35:58 But it's God working in us, 36:00 both to willing to do of his complexion. 36:02 Isn't the song perfect? 36:03 "There is no other word for grace but amazing." 36:09 I love that word, "grace." Me too. 36:11 I thank God for it, yes. 36:14 Exactly what you said, sister Jill, 36:16 "The power of grace of God 36:17 to subdue every unsanctified, un-Holy. 36:22 Now, listen to this, "An impulse. 36:26 An impulse we haven't always put into action." 36:29 Well, now. 36:30 But an impulse. That's right. 36:32 That's what you said, that's what I've said, 36:34 that's what she said 36:35 because our hearts, our minds begin to change. 36:38 There truly is power. 36:41 Power converting, convicting power 36:43 in the grace of God. 36:45 And why do we need to have 36:47 our unsanctified, unholy impulses, 36:50 our actions, our deeds, our thoughts, everyday? 36:52 Why do we need to have them change? 36:53 Why, aren't we good enough just as we are? 36:57 Wouldn't heaven be happy 36:59 if I just popped up there right now? 37:00 I don't know. I don't think so. 37:01 I follow my impulse 37:03 as I might slap somebody once in a while. 37:05 I'm glad I'm over here now. 37:08 Well, think about it, though. 37:10 Why is it so important? 37:12 And you guys are laughing about it. 37:13 There may be somebody at home 37:15 that's saying, really, why is it so important? 37:19 You know, it's powerful 37:20 because not only do we have that predisposition, 37:22 you know, to sin. 37:23 That's the simple human nature. 37:25 But this is a couple lines down, 37:27 and you read it. 37:28 "When the enemy comes in like a flood", 37:29 taken from Isaiah 59, 37:31 "The Spirit of God 37:32 lifts up for them a standard against him." 37:34 So Satan's coming in with so many temptations 37:37 like a flood. 37:38 God says, "I want to rise up a standard." 37:41 That's Grace. 37:42 Pushing back to sanctify our hearts 37:45 and to push that back. 37:46 And I just think Satan comes against us 37:48 with temptations, doubts-- 37:51 Questions, fears, 37:54 any number of worries, any number of things. 37:56 He comes against us with, 37:58 and we can claim the word of God. 38:00 By the power of your spirit, 38:01 will you lift up a standard against him right now 38:04 and give me a victory in the situation-- 38:05 Amen. Yes. 38:07 In this circumstance. 38:08 And that your way ahead, way ahead and, 38:10 and I sure haven't conquered it but I'm sure working on it. 38:13 But you're, you're way ahead in life 38:16 if you can say, "In this situation. 38:18 No, matter how bad, how tore up I am, 38:21 how worried I am. 38:23 There's nothing I can do." 38:24 There's nothing you can, you can do to a certain extent. 38:28 You can help somebody, you know? 38:29 Whether it's financially fit. 38:31 You, you could help to an extent. 38:33 But this thing is, is to say, "You know what, Lord? 38:36 There's nothing I can do. 38:38 I can't be preoccupied 38:40 with, with this on my mind, with this worry. 38:43 I have to hand it to you 38:45 because I can't control this situation. 38:47 That is one of the hardest things 38:49 in the world for me to do. 38:51 But I know it's for the good. 38:52 It's for the greater good." 38:54 Absolutely. 38:56 You know in the Bible, it's in Matthew 6, it says, 38:57 "Take no thought for the morrow, 38:59 for the morrow take thought of itself 39:01 sufficient unto the day is the evil thereof." 39:03 That's right. Don't have tomorrow. 39:05 You know, yesterday's gone. 39:07 I have this moment that I need to be right. 39:09 Do the right thing. Make the right choices. 39:11 Make the right decision. 39:13 And we're calling that grace of God, 39:16 which you mentioned character a while ago. 39:18 Praise God for that 39:19 because character wouldn't have perfection of character, 39:21 one for his grace. 39:22 But he keeps coming back 39:24 giving us extra measure of grace, 39:25 and more grace, and more grace that we may become like him. 39:28 We talked about it in the other program. 39:31 The vine and the branches, and so many people say, 39:35 "Well, you know, we just do, you know, so much in this." 39:37 Or, "Don't worry about being perfect in this life. 39:39 Just do the best you can 39:41 and you're going to be saved in the kingdom." 39:42 And that's not a truth as far as I'm concerned. 39:44 I don't mind to stand on there 39:46 and do it two hour discourse if we need to 39:49 on about gaining victory in your life in the Bible. 39:52 It's very, very important. 39:53 Not because we're, we're there, so we go there. 39:57 The Bible has the answers of what he would have us to be. 40:00 And the most simple, it was John 15 40:02 about the vine in the branches. 40:04 I'm the branch, He's the vine. 40:06 And where do I get all my-- 40:07 It's simple but some of you've not heard, 40:09 the rest of you have heard, you understand 40:10 but where do I get my, my nourishment from? 40:13 From the vine, on the branch. 40:15 So the branch becomes exactly like the vine. 40:19 That's the whole plan. 40:20 That Jesus, and so if I take everything right and go ahead. 40:23 And the sap goes up through the vine. 40:25 The whole spirit. 40:27 That's the grace, that's his strength, 40:28 that's his courage, that's 40:30 when things are just going haywire, 40:32 we can look up and say, "I know he knows what's best." 40:35 So grapes, and I think of the vine, 40:37 I think we had some as kids and so we are improving them. 40:40 So there is a little bit of clipping here, 40:42 and a little bit of clipping there 40:43 and putting it out on the little wires, you know, 40:45 put in the great vines out on the wire, 40:46 so this is a bit of training too, 40:48 so it's part of that process that we go through. 40:51 Sometimes like, "Ouch, oh, man. 40:52 That hurts a little bit." 40:54 We're clipped. 40:55 That's all part of the growth that when we look at it, 40:57 the big picture, it's God doing a work in us 41:00 but the thing is that I got to be willing. 41:02 Because what if the grapes kept saying, 41:04 "Well, I don't want to be wrapped around this wire, 41:05 I want to go that way." 41:07 You know I mean? 41:08 That's a disobedient grape vine so to speak. 41:10 You know what I'm saying? 41:11 I've seen few of those grape vines. 41:12 You think they had a brain, but they don't 41:14 because they want to go their own way. 41:16 Well, sometimes I'm that way. 41:17 I'm like, "God, I don't want to do that. 41:19 I'm going that direction." 41:20 And it's, yeah. 41:22 And it's not the right way to go. 41:23 But sometime isn't though. 41:24 We, we don't actually just come out and say, 41:26 "I'm just going to do it. 41:27 Whether you like it or not God, this is what I'm going to do." 41:30 But we find ways around it 41:31 to almost justify why we're doing 41:33 because of all the circumstances 41:35 and situations. 41:36 Remember circumstances, is that right? 41:38 We're to never, you know, 41:39 we just operate on circumstance. 41:41 That's right. We're to control. 41:42 We are to control. That's right. 41:43 Remember? 41:45 Don't let circumstances control you 41:46 but by the grace of God, you control circumstances. 41:49 Everybody say, "Well, the circumstances. 41:51 I was caught in this. 41:52 And this happen and this took place. 41:54 " By the grace of God, you can control. 41:56 He will give you great strength, give wisdom, 41:58 introduce you to people, help you get, get out, 42:00 of the this whole mess that we're in some time. 42:03 "Subdue every unsanctified survive unholy impulse." 42:08 Let me add a disclaimer here. 42:10 Ok. Well, go on. 42:11 By no means or any of those here 42:13 saying that we've got to be. 42:14 Thank you. 42:16 No, way we, we struggle every day-- 42:18 He's still working on me. 42:19 --He's still working on me and we don't want our, 42:22 our viewers to think, "Well, if, if I make a mistake, 42:25 if I'm done for." 42:27 That's where the grace comes in, 42:28 that's where the forgiveness comes in. 42:30 Yes, we all fail. 42:32 We all come short of the glory of God. 42:33 We sin daily 42:35 but God gives us the grace and the forgiveness. 42:38 So I want people to understand not give up hope 42:41 if you have a problem in you. 42:42 You know that problem keeps reoccurring 42:44 and you find it you are having a hard time 42:47 resisting whatever it is. 42:49 There is hope, 42:51 there's still hope, there's power. 42:52 You just have to keep working and working and working. 42:55 You got to work on anything that is worthwhile. 42:57 You have to, you have to submit-- 42:59 That's good 'cause the Bible, it is very clear that, 43:01 you know, the Bible talks about what you said 43:03 what have you that seen not, but if we see him. 43:06 We have an advocate. We have an advocate. 43:08 His purpose for us is to live a sinless life. 43:10 Other words, to live his life and I thought that 43:12 if I have say, with me, church. 43:15 "If, if I have the mind of Christ--" 43:19 Like we are counseled to do in the world. 43:20 If I have the mind of Christ then I will react like Christ 43:24 in every given situation regardless how hurtful it is, 43:28 regardless of what somebody is doing, 43:29 regardless to what someone saying. 43:31 If I have his mind, 43:32 I believe it's a possibility by his grace and his strength, 43:37 who he is? 43:38 Because why would he say, "Let this mind be in you," 43:41 which was also in Christ, Jesus, 43:42 if it wasn't possible. 43:44 That's right, he wouldn't have said. 43:45 Again, if I look at myself in the mirror, 43:46 I get discouraged. 43:48 Say, look at all the disappointment 43:49 but I'm to look to Jesus 43:51 who is the author and the finisher of my faith. 43:54 He is my example, not any someone else. 43:56 I'm to look to him, 43:57 that's who I am to measure against. 43:59 "Well, I'm not going to church because the preacher he said, 44:01 'There's an elder, he did all this.' 44:02 " You're looking for excuses, my brother and sister. 44:04 Don't look for excuses. 44:05 You look to Jesus. 44:07 He will never let you down. 44:09 He wants us to live that life. 44:10 When we go down those baptismal water, 44:12 when we come up, are we, 44:14 are we not a new man or woman in Christ? 44:16 Old things are what? Passed away. 44:17 A whole lot of things become? Nill. 44:19 That means our life is gone sin, 44:21 it's gone at that moment. 44:22 You stand righteous sinless before. 44:24 Whoo, glory, I'm on a preach. 44:26 Amen. 44:28 If it wasn't possible to overcome, 44:32 if it wasn't possible to overcome, 44:34 He has set us up for failure. 44:35 That's right. Thank you. 44:36 That's not the kind of God I served. 44:38 No. 44:39 We don't do anything on our own. 44:41 It's his power. 44:43 So we just have to be willing. 44:44 We have to be willing. 44:46 And He say, "It doesn't happen overnight, 44:48 it's a daily effort." 44:50 We must die daily. 44:52 We must study daily. 44:54 And I like this text, I love this because-- 44:57 Did you add 2 Timothy 2:15 in there? 45:00 "Study to shew thyself approved unto God?" 45:02 Come on, church. 45:04 "a workman that needeth not--" 45:05 "--to be ashamed--" 45:06 "--rightly dividing the word of truth. 45:08 That means exerting-- It's an action word. 45:11 It means what? 45:12 It means to, it means to exert, does it not? 45:14 When you study the show, we have to exert. 45:17 We have to exert oneself. 45:18 Put yourself into that moment. 45:20 Do everything you can at that point. 45:22 Be, be diligent. 45:23 Endeavor to do the will of God. 45:25 Labor, Hebrews talks about, so all of these things. 45:28 But how many of us do that? 45:30 You're going to have to make a conscious effort. 45:31 We're going to have to make some real changes in our home, 45:35 real changes with our children, real changes with our spouses. 45:38 If we're ever going to really, really reflect Jesus 45:43 and understand what we're reading, 45:45 what we're talking about, 45:46 we've got to make changes as a people. 45:49 And sometimes it takes a lifetime 45:52 of striving and working to make those changes. 45:54 I just don't think 45:56 we have much time, to be honest. 45:59 I know that sanctification is a lifetime 46:02 but boy, oh boy, I don't want to say, 46:05 what's on the news just here lately 46:07 but, we're in trouble folks. 46:09 We're in a trouble as a country, as a nation. 46:14 You know, and it's not anything new to anybody 46:18 but our country, the highest court in this land, 46:22 has passed laws that go directly against-- 46:24 The word of God. 46:26 --institutions that God has put in place. 46:28 And who are we? 46:30 We're no different than Sodom and Gomorrah. 46:32 Mock God. Yes. 46:34 They mock God. 46:36 We're no different. That's right. 46:37 Look what happened in the past. 46:39 He will not, He will not remain silent much longer. 46:40 He cannot, He will not. 46:43 And you know, I think Oh, I'm sorry, Pastor Kenny. 46:45 I think we live, we live in critical times. 46:46 Yes we do. 46:48 You know, you think what's going on in our country, 46:49 in the world today. 46:51 It's critical times. 46:52 And we just want to make an appeal to you at home. 46:54 I can't just put this on my heart 46:56 that don't put off accepting Jesus. 46:59 Don't put off, saying, "God, I know I'm a mess. 47:02 I know I'm not perfect." 47:03 As Tammy just mentioned, but I just ask 47:05 I claimed first on one night over my life. 47:08 I'm confessing right now, my sins. 47:09 I know you're a faithful in justice 47:11 to forgive me and to cleanse me from all unrighteousness. 47:15 And then, to me the key is, 47:17 day by day, do what God tells us. 47:19 Just submit to him. 47:20 When He says, "Jill, put that aside." 47:22 I need to put that aside. 47:23 That's right. It's making those choices. 47:25 He says, "Jill, get in My word." 47:27 I need to get in the word of God. 47:28 You know, when He says, 47:30 "Okay, I want you to go over here and do this." 47:32 We need to go over and be His spokesperson 47:34 and do what He says. 47:37 I'm almost, I'm almost as young as she is. 47:41 And I was thinking, you know, how long it has taken me 47:45 to get to the place even more I'm at now. 47:48 Yeah. 47:49 And I think about our children. 47:50 Go on. Our grandchildren. 47:53 And it's tough. Yeah. 47:55 The decisions need to be made in our homes 47:58 and I understand if you're making these decisions, 48:01 you're going to be under attack. 48:03 But go back to God, plead, ask for another angel. 48:07 Ask for help. 48:09 He's willing to help but we have to cry out. 48:11 This next, this next sentence is powerful 48:14 because we've been talking 48:16 about our defense and temptation 48:18 and we realize that it's knowing, 48:19 it's understanding, 48:21 it's having the mind of God that we can only do that 48:22 with putting his word, hiding his word in our heart. 48:26 I love this. 48:28 "The word of God is a channel." 48:31 A channel. 48:33 It's a way the channel communication, right? 48:35 A channel of communication with a living God. 48:41 That's beautiful, like, I'm sorry. 48:43 I just have to chuckle, I love that. 48:45 Who are we? 48:46 Who are we? 48:48 Sinful man, worthless, nothing, 48:50 that we can commune with the living God. 48:53 I mean that just, just. 48:54 I just want to almost jump up, and run around. 48:56 I'm sorry, church. 48:58 And it is to think about 49:00 we can communicate with the living God. 49:03 Yeah. That's wonderful. 49:05 What good news that is. 49:06 How much He cares for us is just to me is so exciting 49:09 to know that we can. 49:10 And He cares about us and He will listen, okay? 49:13 Go ahead, honey. I'm sorry. 49:14 I know we don't get very far, 49:15 so if you could just read that next sentence. 49:17 I think the next sentence. 49:19 "He who feeds" 49:20 He who feeds. 49:22 "He, who feeds upon the word, will become fruitful. 49:25 And all good works." 49:27 Bring it on. 49:28 "He will be the discoverer of rich minds of truth, 49:33 which he must work to find the hidden treasure, 49:38 when surrounded with temptations 49:39 the Holy Spirit will bring into his mind, 49:42 the very words with which they meet, 49:45 which meet the temptation at the very moment. 49:49 Which they all must--" 49:50 Praise the Lord, yes. 49:51 "And he can use them effectively." 49:54 Isn't that beautiful. Isn't that beautiful. 49:57 So it's not even up to us, to try to say. 49:59 Now, what is that scripture? 50:00 You mentioned that Tammy. 50:01 God's the one who brings it back to us 50:04 but we have to put it. 50:06 That's the key, 50:07 it's to put it in the first place. 50:08 And then God's going to bring it 50:10 back at the right time. 50:11 In Colossians 1:10, it talks about 50:13 we're to be fruitful in every good work. 50:16 Not just... well, I'm selective. 50:19 I'm just working at history; I was working in this area, 50:21 that's all, you know, in ever good, 50:23 everything that God has here, this good... 50:26 We need to be involved 50:28 and do what we can for the cause of Christ right now. 50:30 Tim, you have some... 50:31 Sorry, I'm jumping right on in here. 50:32 No. 50:34 I'm getting excited about all this stuff. 50:35 I was thinking it's like when you're in school. 50:37 I mean you; you have to put it in, 50:40 the knowledge, to pass the test, right? 50:42 Let's go let's bring it. 50:44 That was it. True, that's true. 50:46 I have to put it in to pass the test. 50:47 And, and that's basically what we're saying. 50:49 You folks at home, you know, 50:51 brothers and sister in the home, 50:52 we all, you, us, all together, 50:55 we have to put this book in in order to pass such as. 50:57 That's right. 50:59 And you know, some will say right now, honey, 51:00 they'll say, "Well, I don't like to study." 51:03 Hold now, stop. 51:04 Listen, I didn't like to study school, in school. 51:07 I didn't like to study but I tell you 51:09 I love this study the word of God. 51:11 Studying of the word of God illuminates your mind. 51:15 Your mind actually grows like nothing. 51:17 When you read the word of God, it does something inside you. 51:20 This is scientific, this is true. 51:22 It does something to the mind to expand it. 51:24 Its energized with the spirit of the living God 51:27 to help you understand and to grow. 51:30 And again, to memorize 51:31 and to put in your heart and your mind. 51:32 Absolutely. Like no other book. 51:35 I heard a man say one time, he said, 51:36 "Well, you know? I just cannot read the word. 51:39 I just cannot read the word of God, 51:41 I just can't focus very long." 51:43 But he could said, "Oh, somebody pray for me." 51:45 So he sat down everyday and he read the newspaper 51:47 from beginning to end. 51:49 And he knew everything that was going on in the world. 51:51 We could not read, that's why... 51:52 And then he said, "Well..." And another thing. 51:54 He said, "You need to pray for me." 51:55 He said, "I just can't stay awake a church." 51:57 I said, "You can." 51:58 But he could get down and something... 52:00 He just put something he enjoyed doing 52:02 and be for hours on end. 52:05 And I knew him well, I won't trying to judge, 52:06 for and never, ever act like he's getting sleepy. 52:10 But soon as he sat down church, he went to sleep. 52:12 There's wife doing this all the time. 52:14 It's interest. Are we interested? 52:17 It goes back to that first word that preoccupied. 52:19 Preoccupied. Yes, yes. 52:22 Because the enemy has put us basically under a spell. 52:26 Sure has. You know, audio, visual... 52:28 There's people, if you're watching movies, 52:31 there's always explosions, there's always high drama. 52:34 They can, they can go through the worst situation 52:36 and then an hour and half hour, it's all solved. 52:39 Or you know hold, on to the next, 52:41 and you've got this adrenaline flowing all the time. 52:44 And then suddenly, we go to church. 52:46 And we're hearing the word of God. 52:47 And it may just be being read or, or somebody up singing and. 52:51 There's no explosions, there's no lights flashing, 52:54 there's no background music. 52:55 You see what I'm saying? Yeah. 52:59 And so, we're under a hypnotic spell. 53:01 So there again, we have to... we have to submit and retrain. 53:06 If it's five minutes a day, 53:07 Jill said, start with five minutes. 53:10 Because I guarantee you, 53:12 if you start with five minutes, it's going to go to ten. 53:14 Yes, it's going to grow. It's going to grow. 53:16 It's going to got to 50 and an hour 53:18 and pretty soon hour and a half. 53:19 Now that's long enough. 53:20 You've got to pray to get up earlier, 53:22 pray to go to bed earlier. 53:23 You said big word. 53:24 And we don't have time to go into... 53:26 maybe if, for another subject. 53:27 Let me tell, the enemy uses hypnosis. 53:29 I believe that. 53:31 He hypnotizes people. 53:32 He gets them... 53:33 I usually see people focused on something that they shouldn't. 53:35 They got the glassy eye, you know? 53:38 He did Adam and Eve in the Garden. 53:40 It's a challenge for study to see 53:42 what the enemy and what he does, 53:44 and what he does today for mankind. 53:47 With the mind you preoccupy things of the world. 53:51 And you he was going to do, he's going to keep us busy. 53:54 Somebody stay with me. 53:56 He's going to keep us busy until probation closest. 53:59 Yes. 54:00 And then it's too late when probation closes. 54:02 And I'm telling, my brother and sister today, 54:04 that a probation door, probation I hear it closing. 54:08 This isn't like the gate you can just hear. 54:09 It's closer than it's ever been to shutting. 54:12 And then when what did to... How happy we're going to be to. 54:14 It's parties, and it's game time, 54:16 and it's play time and all this. 54:18 When the, when it's pronounced, 54:19 "He who does righteous be righteous, 54:21 he the filthy, will be filthy," 54:22 that not another person will ever come to Jesus Christ. 54:25 This is how close that we are, 54:27 should we not spend our time we're talking in study. 54:29 My defense in temptation, that I might gain the victory, 54:32 that might help others to gain the victory. 54:34 So, you can look at me in my poor pathetic life, 54:35 or whatever your life and just say, 54:37 "Look, God has given them victory, 54:38 he can do the same for me." 54:40 In closing, we are almost out of time. 54:42 I want to share a couple of verses of scripture 54:46 is found in Psalms 5 verse 11, 12. 54:49 I just encourage you to claim this, 54:51 to make this a part of your daily life with God. 54:54 It reads, "But let all those 54:56 who put their trust in the rejoice, 55:00 let them ever shout for joy." 55:02 Amen.
