Welcome to 3ABN Today. My name is John Lomacang 00:01:08.23\00:01:10.90 and the woman sitting next to me that's matching my tie is my 00:01:10.93\00:01:14.10 lovely wife Angela. Always good to have you hon. 00:01:14.14\00:01:16.30 I'm happy to be here. I'm glad that you've tuned in. You're 00:01:16.34\00:01:19.44 going to be blessed by today's program. I was. 00:01:19.47\00:01:22.84 That's right. 00:01:22.88\00:01:24.21 When I say I was is because I was speaking to them backstage 00:01:24.25\00:01:27.32 so to speak. 00:01:27.35\00:01:29.22 Yeah, we kind of know what you're going to find out about 00:01:29.25\00:01:30.82 You know sometimes you think about plans that you might have 00:01:30.85\00:01:34.06 and you realize that you're plans dwarf in comparison to 00:01:34.09\00:01:37.19 God's plans. And so today the couple that we're going to 00:01:37.23\00:01:39.66 introduce you to in just a moment stepped into God's dream 00:01:39.69\00:01:42.96 which is way bigger than they anticipated. God said I know the 00:01:43.00\00:01:46.70 plans I have for you. And this plan it took decades to get to 00:01:46.74\00:01:51.31 this point but God's plans know no haste and absolutely no delay 00:01:51.34\00:01:56.75 And you'll find out...we discovered that the place that 00:01:56.78\00:01:59.61 this dream is coming to pass is a place on earth that the name 00:01:59.65\00:02:03.89 is duplicated nowhere else. That's how unique God chooses a 00:02:03.92\00:02:07.56 uniqueness and connects to the things he dreams about. But 00:02:07.59\00:02:11.23 before we introduce our couple we want to thank you for your 00:02:11.26\00:02:13.26 prayers and your financial support of 3ABN Television and 00:02:13.29\00:02:16.16 Radio. 00:02:16.20\00:02:19.00 Where my wife is employed. Jason and Annette Fornier Good to have you here at 3ABN 00:05:39.37\00:05:42.44 Thank you. Yes. Yes. 00:05:42.47\00:05:45.04 You know before we go any further...(Antionette) 00:05:45.07\00:05:47.11 Is it Antionette or(Antionette, right?)(guest nodding head) 00:05:47.14\00:05:50.85 Now see something a woman would know. 00:05:50.88\00:05:54.62 Well we want to welcome you both and before we move on to the 00:05:54.65\00:05:59.22 wonderful mission stories, story that you have, let's talk about 00:05:59.25\00:06:04.23 who you are and where you're from, and the name Fornier. 00:06:04.26\00:06:07.60 That's right. It's connected with the former president of ASI 00:06:07.63\00:06:11.13 Frank Fornier, yes. 00:06:11.17\00:06:12.97 This is his son. 00:06:13.00\00:06:15.50 Yeah, so my name is Jason and I'm from Kibidula in Tanzania 00:06:15.54\00:06:19.61 and this is my wife Antionette. 00:06:19.64\00:06:23.01 So I'm from South Africa originally and Jason's from 00:06:23.04\00:06:26.98 Canada originally but we were both 19 when we moved on to 00:06:27.02\00:06:30.52 become missionaries where we met married and are still living in 00:06:30.55\00:06:34.29 the same house today 22 years later. 00:06:34.32\00:06:37.89 Wow. So Jason you spent most of your adult life in Africa. 00:06:37.93\00:06:42.46 Yeah, so my parents actually brought me to Africa when I was 00:06:42.50\00:06:44.57 14 and we lived in Zambia on the Sutu. And then I left Riverside 00:06:44.60\00:06:50.47 when I was 19 and went to Kibidula. 00:06:50.51\00:06:54.24 Oh you sent straight to Tanzania to Kibidula. 00:06:54.28\00:07:01.15 I like that. And that's the name that we talked about by the way 00:07:01.18\00:07:03.99 if you were watching the program or listening that's the only 00:07:04.02\00:07:06.86 place in the world where the name Kibidula, at least to our 00:07:06.89\00:07:10.19 knowledge exists. But let's just kind of...This story is so rich 00:07:10.23\00:07:15.90 when it kind of gets some good foundation on it. Give us some 00:07:15.93\00:07:18.63 of the backdrop into the history and the miracle of Kibidula. 00:07:18.67\00:07:23.81 Well in colonial times there was a farmer, he used to work for a 00:07:23.84\00:07:27.48 large tea company in Tanzania and he purchased a farm that he 00:07:27.51\00:07:34.35 planned to retire. And this was a large farm, 4776 acres. And 00:07:34.38\00:07:43.22 unfortunately or fortunately but when Tanzania got its 00:07:43.26\00:07:47.86 independence they were not friendly to South Africa, they 00:07:47.90\00:07:53.30 were not in a good relation to South Africa and this farmer was 00:07:53.34\00:07:58.27 South African and he had to leave. Now he was not a 00:07:58.31\00:08:03.81 Seventh-day Adventist but his wife was. And when they had to 00:08:03.85\00:08:07.78 leave his wife convinced him to legally transfer the title of 00:08:07.82\00:08:13.62 that farm to the name of or into the hands of the church. And so 00:08:13.66\00:08:18.79 he did that. And it reminds me of Matthew 6:21 where it says 00:08:18.83\00:08:27.00 where your treasure is there will your heart be also and he 00:08:27.04\00:08:32.94 gave his treasure to the church and a few years after that he 00:08:32.97\00:08:36.11 also gave his heart to Jesus and he became an Adventist. 00:08:36.14\00:08:41.42 Amen. That's wonderful. And so now given the backdrop because 00:08:41.45\00:08:44.32 they seem to have been...there seems to be a lot of time 00:08:44.35\00:08:50.43 between him giving that property and then it getting into your 00:08:50.46\00:08:53.66 possession. Just give me some of that backdrop there. 00:08:53.70\00:08:55.46 Well the church it had this farm now and they really didn't have 00:08:55.50\00:09:00.47 the manpower or the means to do anything with it. So they sat 00:09:00.50\00:09:05.74 with this farm almost three decades. They requested 00:09:05.77\00:09:10.78 Riverside Farm in Zambia because they saw a successful program 00:09:10.81\00:09:13.98 there if they could do something with it in 1975. And Riverside 00:09:14.02\00:09:18.82 was unable at that time to do anything. But again when the 00:09:18.85\00:09:22.42 call came in 1989 could Riverside put together a team 00:09:22.46\00:09:28.23 and do something with this farm Riverside accepted the call and 00:09:28.26\00:09:33.44 Daniel Butler with the team of a doctor named Joshua Mopongo and 00:09:33.47\00:09:39.71 and an agriculturist named Gachi Chabala, they joined 00:09:39.74\00:09:46.51 together and went to Kibidula and started what we know today 00:09:46.55\00:09:50.19 as Kibidula Mission. 00:09:50.22\00:09:51.75 That picture we just saw was the team of individuals? 00:09:51.79\00:09:54.99 That was the team that started it. 00:09:55.02\00:09:56.49 For those who are familiar with Butler's Soy Foods, Soy Curls, 00:09:56.52\00:10:00.56 that's the Daniel Butler and his family that went to Kibidula so 00:10:00.60\00:10:04.73 many years ago to pioneer the work there. 00:10:04.77\00:10:06.27 Really, I have some Soy Curls at home. 00:10:06.30\00:10:08.47 So when I eat them now they're going to take on a different (it 00:10:08.50\00:10:12.97 is) different flavor. (Yeah) And so the team there started a work 00:10:13.01\00:10:19.01 that...Begin to tell me the direction of that work. How did 00:10:19.05\00:10:22.18 it unfold? 00:10:22.22\00:10:23.55 The idea was to have a self supporting mission so 00:10:23.59\00:10:27.56 agriculture supporting mission work, outreach evangelism. 00:10:27.59\00:10:29.56 Which is not a new idea to Adventism for those of you who 00:10:29.59\00:10:33.50 are familiar with the Madison training program. Madison has 00:10:33.53\00:10:37.90 many missionaries going from that program which started 00:10:37.93\00:10:40.54 the branches of ministries and Wildwood Sanitarium was one of 00:10:40.57\00:10:44.27 those. Wildwood gave birth to Riverside Farm in Zambia and it 00:10:44.31\00:10:48.78 is Zambia who started the sister project of Kibidula Farm in 00:10:48.81\00:10:50.65 Tanzania. So it's based on a work/training program training 00:10:50.68\00:10:55.02 the whole person. 00:10:55.05\00:10:57.52 But it proved to be more difficult to do the self 00:10:57.55\00:11:01.36 supporting part than the mission part. The climate is cold, and 00:11:01.39\00:11:08.26 the dry season is very long and dry, the economy at the time was 00:11:08.30\00:11:14.24 depressed. It wasn't easy to get business or agriculture going. 00:11:14.27\00:11:19.07 But the mission activities you know took off. A clinic was 00:11:19.11\00:11:24.38 started. An agriculture training school was started. An outreach 00:11:24.41\00:11:29.62 was going on. There was almost from the very beginning baptisms 00:11:29.65\00:11:33.72 were happening on a regular basis. And the church growth 00:11:33.76\00:11:37.63 just took off in that area. 00:11:37.66\00:11:39.09 And it was a small and a humble beginning because the 00:11:39.13\00:11:43.26 missionaries back then and I have to say even till today pay 00:11:43.30\00:11:45.67 their own way to come to the mission field. We pay very small 00:11:45.70\00:11:49.24 stipends, just to cover living expenses like eating and staying 00:11:49.27\00:11:52.11 there. So it's a very self sacrificing work but the Lord 00:11:52.14\00:11:55.18 has blessed and so from very small, very humble beginnings we 00:11:55.21\00:11:58.71 are very excited about what's happening right now and the 00:11:58.75\00:12:02.08 growth that we are seeing. 00:12:02.12\00:12:04.19 That's wonderful. How many people work with you, the staff, 00:12:04.22\00:12:05.65 and things like that. 00:12:05.69\00:12:08.52 By today if you take staff and students together all the 00:12:08.56\00:12:14.56 workers we are about 400 people. 00:12:14.60\00:12:17.07 Wonderful. 00:12:17.10\00:12:18.43 That's good. And when you talk about the large land you have 00:12:18.47\00:12:20.94 covering to be able to...now is all of that farming, or how did 00:12:20.97\00:12:25.54 parcel that. 00:12:25.57\00:12:28.11 Yeah. So for many years the farm didn't do much. We had some 00:12:28.14\00:12:32.35 gardens and some personal fields or small acreages but we focused 00:12:32.38\00:12:39.52 after recognizing that agriculture was not easy to do, 00:12:39.55\00:12:42.69 we focused mainly on our mission activities. 00:12:42.72\00:12:47.70 Which the focus on the mission activities is mostly education 00:12:47.73\00:12:50.33 We have a primary school where we have the children trained in 00:12:50.37\00:12:54.97 English and it's a significant issue because in Tanzania right 00:12:55.00\00:12:59.21 now children, and especially in the rural areas receive their 00:12:59.24\00:13:03.04 primary education in their mother tongue which is Swahili 00:13:03.08\00:13:05.85 and then when they switch to high school it all switches to 00:13:05.88\00:13:08.98 English which is a very big challenge to the children. So 00:13:09.02\00:13:11.69 giving our children an advantage ahead of time in the English 00:13:11.72\00:13:14.72 language is very valuable. We also run an agricultural 00:13:14.76\00:13:17.96 training center for at-risk youth, it's children who had not 00:13:17.99\00:13:23.03 progressed on to high school due to poverty or discrimination 00:13:23.06\00:13:26.17 against the sexes, abuse and they stay with us for three-and- 00:13:26.20\00:13:28.20 a- half years where we teach them agriculture and vocational 00:13:28.24\00:13:32.91 training and the goal behind that is to protect them for 00:13:32.94\00:13:35.88 three-and-a-half more years until they are more mature 00:13:35.91\00:13:37.81 enough to be able to be safe when they go out into the world. 00:13:37.85\00:13:41.32 And then we have a Bible school where we train lay missionaries 00:13:41.35\00:13:44.65 and our lay missionaries go out into un-entered areas of the 00:13:44.69\00:13:48.59 country and currently we have 42 We're very excited that some of 00:13:48.62\00:13:51.89 our lay missionaries also go on to get their pastoral training 00:13:51.93\00:13:55.46 and are active pastors in the Tanzanian church. 00:13:55.50\00:13:58.70 Wow. This is good. What's the nearest Adventist...Where is the 00:13:58.73\00:14:02.27 nearest Adventist college to you? To Tanzania where you 00:14:02.30\00:14:07.48 you are. 00:14:07.51\00:14:08.84 In Tanzania, there is an Adventist College in Arusha and 00:14:08.88\00:14:12.88 it's called The University of Arusha, but that's about a 15 00:14:12.91\00:14:19.35 hour drive from where we are. 00:14:19.39\00:14:20.72 The church in Tanzania is growing very fast. I'm sure if 00:14:20.76\00:14:25.66 you look at a map right now of East Central and 00:14:25.69\00:14:29.20 Southern Africa, it's 00:14:29.23\00:14:30.57 very green. The Adventist growth is happening very rapidly. And 00:14:30.60\00:14:33.47 so I remember there was a time in Tanzania where there were so 00:14:33.50\00:14:38.01 few pastors there were too many churches for one pastor. And I'm 00:14:38.04\00:14:41.74 thankful that it has changed and improved right now but there's 00:14:41.78\00:14:45.71 still, a need to train lay missionaries, people who are out 00:14:45.75\00:14:48.15 in the field, who can't afford to become pastors and that are I 00:14:48.18\00:14:53.96 have to say the majority of the workers out there bringing 00:14:53.99\00:14:55.32 people into the faith and those are some of the people that we 00:14:55.36\00:14:59.53 target and train. 00:14:59.56\00:15:00.90 But the fact is there's still a very large area especially in 00:15:00.93\00:15:03.40 the southern part of Tanzania where there are no or almost no 00:15:03.43\00:15:07.80 Adventists. Whole areas you know where you get villages that have 00:15:07.84\00:15:12.67 no Adventists and never heard the Adventist message. So 00:15:12.71\00:15:16.64 sending out missionaries that are trained a Kibidula into 00:15:16.68\00:15:21.02 these villages where they rent a home, they start living there 00:15:21.05\00:15:26.15 and then over time because many of these villages are Muslim. 00:15:26.19\00:15:31.89 You can't work fast in Muslim areas. But over time, two or 00:15:31.93\00:15:36.56 three years, then you start to build relationships with people 00:15:36.60\00:15:40.97 and you start building. 00:15:41.00\00:15:45.24 These are the lay missionaries that are the real pioneers. When 00:15:45.27\00:15:50.05 people look at us they think we sacrifice a lot but it's when I 00:15:50.08\00:15:53.35 look at my brothers and sisters out on the front line, they 00:15:53.38\00:15:55.98 sacrifice a lot. When a wife just gave birth to twins and 00:15:56.02\00:15:59.62 they both passed away because of inadequate care. I remember 00:15:59.65\00:16:04.23 at that time someone sent me a little care package with the 00:16:04.26\00:16:07.96 lotions and things that I really treasure and I sent it on to her 00:16:08.00\00:16:12.53 And just little things like that touching her. Someone remembered 00:16:12.57\00:16:18.61 her in her grief. You know I can go on with many stories but 00:16:18.64\00:16:23.28 those missionaries out on those front lines they're the ones 00:16:23.31\00:16:25.71 that are really raising up the church of God in Tanzania. 00:16:25.75\00:16:28.68 So you have a picture of a church that is there. Is it in 00:16:28.72\00:16:32.49 your community? 00:16:32.52\00:16:34.09 Um, no. So when we send out these missionaries from Kibidula 00:16:34.12\00:16:39.93 they end up in various places around Tanzania and they end up 00:16:39.96\00:16:45.83 raising congregations. And then the local communities or 00:16:45.87\00:16:54.64 congregations have the ability to like make brick, build a 00:16:54.68\00:16:58.25 building, but the roof is the expensive part, the part they 00:16:58.28\00:17:02.65 cannot afford and so some years back a project was started 00:17:02.68\00:17:08.16 through ASI called Roofs Over Africa. And through that project 00:17:08.19\00:17:13.26 we were able to roof over 2000 churches in Tanzania, Malawi and 00:17:13.29\00:17:18.90 Uganda and this is one of those. And that's one of those. We also 00:17:18.93\00:17:23.14 did the one-day church program and so we built an additional 00:17:23.17\00:17:28.74 1000 churches from Kibidula in Tanzania. 00:17:28.78\00:17:32.21 And I would like to say a very big thank you to all our 00:17:32.25\00:17:36.28 Adventist brothers and sisters especially in North America who 00:17:36.32\00:17:39.09 sponsored this one-day church program because there's 00:17:39.12\00:17:42.36 something that not everyone realizes. So there was a budget 00:17:42.39\00:17:46.49 attached to every church to be built and my husband was part of 00:17:46.53\00:17:52.03 the team building these churches in the Tanzania area, but every 00:17:52.07\00:17:56.87 penny that we saved of that budget went to support the 00:17:56.91\00:17:58.67 mission. So my husband and his team would sleep on the ground 00:17:58.71\00:18:01.71 or on the truck at night, not taking guest houses or lodging 00:18:01.74\00:18:05.61 and that project helped keep the mission floating a few more 00:18:05.65\00:18:09.95 years until God helped us figure out a way to become more self 00:18:09.98\00:18:12.85 supporting. 00:18:12.89\00:18:14.29 You know when you think about a church without a roof how is it 00:18:14.32\00:18:18.13 looked upon by the community? You're at a high altitude too. 00:18:18.16\00:18:22.16 So one of the amazing things is you know often the Catholic 00:18:22.20\00:18:26.50 churches have very nice church structures and other 00:18:26.53\00:18:30.77 denominations. And then if you have a very small new church 00:18:30.81\00:18:36.04 started in an area with no roof or no church built yet it's a 00:18:36.08\00:18:41.82 little bit...you know the church is a place where you know 00:18:41.85\00:18:45.39 weddings happen and you know it's a community center and 00:18:45.42\00:18:49.82 joining a church that has no structure is a little bit scary 00:18:49.86\00:18:53.56 like who are they? But once a church is built it's actually a 00:18:53.60\00:18:58.50 tool for evangelism because if they have a home to go to it's 00:18:58.53\00:19:04.37 a welcoming place and we have found that church membership 00:19:04.41\00:19:08.14 grows much quicker where there is a church than where there 00:19:08.18\00:19:10.68 isn't. 00:19:10.71\00:19:12.91 Because I know people have wondered like well if we give 00:19:12.95\00:19:14.78 money and we have churches built we don't want them to sit empty 00:19:14.82\00:19:18.49 and we can testify today that these churches don't sit empty. 00:19:18.52\00:19:21.62 It's the fact that there's a church, there's a church behind 00:19:21.66\00:19:24.33 this building that's legitimate and it draws people to come and 00:19:24.36\00:19:29.16 fill these churches. 00:19:29.20\00:19:31.33 And people can still be involved today. Just $1000 will roof a 00:19:31.37\00:19:38.21 church. And so contributions toward that project will help us 00:19:38.24\00:19:44.88 put up more churches. 00:19:44.91\00:19:46.25 Yeah we'll talk about that before the program is done and 00:19:46.28\00:19:47.62 we'll reach out to those watching. 00:19:47.65\00:19:48.98 A thousand, that's not a lot. Cause I know my sister she needs 00:19:49.02\00:19:51.69 a new roof and she said it's $20,000 to get a new roof. 00:19:51.72\00:19:56.09 That's 20 roofs on your church. 00:19:56.12\00:19:59.79 And we talk about that. We have been to Zimbabwe where we were 00:19:59.83\00:20:05.87 in a community many years ago where the people were meeting 00:20:05.90\00:20:08.00 under a tree that had a blue tarp on it. One of the old 00:20:08.04\00:20:12.74 church sisters (a deaconess) a deaconess, she had a little blue 00:20:12.77\00:20:15.88 and white. While we were building she was standing by 00:20:15.91\00:20:18.68 this tree and she was so excited We said what for. She says I 00:20:18.71\00:20:21.12 have prayed for this day. And when that whole complex was 00:20:21.15\00:20:27.52 built even the local police...We thought oh we're in trouble the 00:20:27.56\00:20:31.89 police are coming. But they came to enroll their children in the 00:20:31.93\00:20:34.93 school because it becomes a testament, like you said, to the 00:20:34.96\00:20:37.80 community. And that was with Maranatha. You know the roof 00:20:37.83\00:20:42.44 over Africa, is that what you call it? I saw the video at a 00:20:42.47\00:20:46.54 recent ASI where Garwin McNielus introduced that and they lowered 00:20:46.57\00:20:51.61 the roof, that was the project you talked about. (Yes) That was 00:20:51.65\00:20:55.48 interesting. But now you're reaching out to the people there 00:20:55.52\00:20:58.82 but then how are you getting through to them because you have 00:20:58.85\00:21:01.02 to educate them. How is that happening because you know are 00:21:01.06\00:21:05.53 there materials readily available for them to read in 00:21:05.56\00:21:08.73 their language? 00:21:08.76\00:21:10.13 Right. So we realized that education was going to be the 00:21:10.17\00:21:12.53 main way that we can reach and build up a community. So we run 00:21:12.57\00:21:16.10 three schools at Kibidula like we mentioned, the primary school 00:21:16.14\00:21:19.57 to reach our children when they're young. It was originally 00:21:19.61\00:21:22.38 started to reach our young children of our staff in the 00:21:22.41\00:21:26.11 community so they don't have to go off the boarding school when 00:21:26.15\00:21:28.58 they're only six or seven years old. And then we have the 00:21:28.62\00:21:33.05 agriculture training school for at-risk youth which we already 00:21:33.09\00:21:36.39 talked about as well. And then we have our evangelism school 00:21:36.42\00:21:39.43 And so bit by bit by sharing our needs, sharing our story, people 00:21:39.46\00:21:43.60 partner with us and they have helped us build these buildings 00:21:43.63\00:21:47.07 and I believe it's not just been a blessing for us on the 00:21:47.10\00:21:51.11 receiving end but it has been a blessing also for those involved 00:21:51.14\00:21:53.38 when you see these young people grow up and being able to live a 00:21:53.41\00:21:57.88 productive and self-respecting life witnessing for the Lord. It 00:21:57.91\00:22:00.55 pays off. 00:22:00.58\00:22:02.18 Wonderful. I have a question. Are these teachers accredited? 00:22:02.22\00:22:05.45 Where do you get these teachers from to teach the children? 00:22:05.49\00:22:08.92 Our teachers are well-trained and educated as required but we 00:22:08.96\00:22:13.60 we are not just restricting our possibilities to those who are 00:22:13.63\00:22:17.40 well trained. We have a few teachers on staff who have not 00:22:17.43\00:22:21.70 the academic qualifications but you could not find a better 00:22:21.74\00:22:23.44 teacher when it comes to love and educating and disciplining 00:22:23.47\00:22:26.84 these children so we do try and look at the character, love for 00:22:26.88\00:22:30.41 the Lord, devotion to the mission and ability. 00:22:30.45\00:22:33.58 (Wonderful) Something else happened there in this process 00:22:33.62\00:22:36.45 of growing because I talk about the bookstores and the printing 00:22:36.48\00:22:40.29 aspects of it because providing books, some ministries partnered 00:22:40.32\00:22:44.63 with you. Let's talk about that. 00:22:44.66\00:22:45.99 Yeah. Back in the 90s, we had one of our staff named Rudy 00:22:46.03\00:22:50.03 Harnish and he just had a burden for the literature work, getting 00:22:50.07\00:22:54.94 materials into Tanzania and he began importing containers of 00:22:54.97\00:22:58.91 books through the help of Light Bearers and other 00:22:58.94\00:23:03.35 individuals. They purchased books, filled containers brought 00:23:03.38\00:23:06.25 them to Tanzania and began distributing and even selling 00:23:06.28\00:23:10.49 books around Tanzania. And then we began getting people to 00:23:10.52\00:23:16.42 translate some of those books. And we're printing them in 00:23:16.46\00:23:19.96 Swahili and of course there is a huge demand for Swahili books. 00:23:20.00\00:23:23.47 And that outreach has really grown over the years. 00:23:23.50\00:23:31.14 So Kibidula has a very unique partnership where we work with 00:23:31.17\00:23:33.88 the Seventh-day Adventist Church in Tanzania. Everything that we 00:23:33.91\00:23:38.08 translate gets edited and approved by the church first 00:23:38.11\00:23:41.38 and then once upon approval we then have permission to go ahead 00:23:41.42\00:23:45.25 do the graphics, do the layout and we partner with a sister 00:23:45.29\00:23:49.26 ministry in Poland called Springs of Life and they print 00:23:49.29\00:23:52.63 the high-quality booklets for us at low cost which we import then 00:23:52.66\00:23:56.77 and sell through the church system and colporteuring system. 00:23:56.80\00:24:00.90 Dr. Hans Diehl who unfortunately has recently passed, Dr. Hans 00:24:00.94\00:24:06.14 Diehl worked with us and translated his little book You 00:24:06.17\00:24:08.14 Turn. It was a best seller. People are so interested in 00:24:08.18\00:24:12.98 health. And the interesting thing about Tanzanians is they 00:24:13.01\00:24:15.85 love literature. They are not as blessed to have literature in 00:24:15.88\00:24:19.25 abundance like we do here. So they treasure what's given to 00:24:19.29\00:24:23.12 them in pamphlet or book form and so when we are able to bring 00:24:23.16\00:24:27.06 in these small colorful professionally printed booklets 00:24:27.10\00:24:29.83 at an affordable price people want to buy and pass on to 00:24:29.86\00:24:33.03 others. 00:24:33.07\00:24:36.24 That's interesting. What's going through your head? 00:24:36.27\00:24:38.21 No I like that. They're doing mission work just passing on 00:24:38.24\00:24:41.51 those books and yeah. 00:24:41.54\00:24:44.11 Like leaves of autumn. 00:24:44.15\00:24:45.48 Leaves of autumn, there you go. He's going to say something. 00:24:45.51\00:24:48.32 About 2012 I was going to Young but actually an elderly 00:24:48.35\00:24:56.09 gentleman from Idaho. He had a small printing press business 00:24:56.12\00:25:00.56 and he decided to donate his whole shop, print shop. So the 00:25:00.60\00:25:09.94 press and the tools and the guillotine, the thing that cuts 00:25:09.97\00:25:14.01 all the papers, all that equipment. He loaded it into a 00:25:14.04\00:25:17.31 container and sent it to Kibidula. 00:25:17.35\00:25:19.98 And his name is Mr. Bill Bosay and he didn't just donate his 00:25:20.02\00:25:24.65 whole shop. He closed his shop, moved to Africa and even though 00:25:24.69\00:25:28.56 he couldn't speak a word of the language he started our printing 00:25:28.59\00:25:32.29 work in that garage that you just saw. And though it was a 00:25:32.33\00:25:35.80 very small beginning today we are breaking ground for a second 00:25:35.83\00:25:40.04 additional building, a large building because our printing 00:25:40.07\00:25:43.27 presses after printing and distributing five million Glow 00:25:43.30\00:25:46.27 tracts in Swahili and many other tracts and Bibles, we cannot 00:25:46.31\00:25:51.51 keep up and so by God's grace we are now preparing and 00:25:51.55\00:25:54.82 receiving new presses to let the work grow and go on. 00:25:54.85\00:25:57.99 You need funds for that don't you? 00:25:58.02\00:26:01.79 Exactly. So we have actually cleared the ground, prepared the 00:26:01.82\00:26:06.53 foundations, but we still need to build a building and there's 00:26:06.56\00:26:09.43 a couple more pieces of equipment that we would 00:26:09.46\00:26:11.93 eventually, like to obtain to make our work more efficient. 00:26:11.97\00:26:15.67 We're looking for a paper sheeter that would be able to 00:26:15.70\00:26:19.97 take rolls of paper and cut them into sheets and that would be 00:26:20.01\00:26:23.48 much cheaper than importing already sheeted paper. 00:26:23.51\00:26:26.75 Okay. Somebody's listening. I want to reiterate: A paper 00:26:26.78\00:26:29.72 sheeter (yeah) that cuts the roll into sheets of paper. 00:26:29.75\00:26:34.56 Because we can import rolls much cheaper. It's called raw 00:26:34.59\00:26:38.69 material and sheeted paper is a finished product and so they tax 00:26:38.73\00:26:44.07 differently, if it's sheeted or rolls. (Okay) 00:26:44.10\00:26:47.24 Unfortunately, Mr. Bill is no longer with us. He passed away 00:26:47.27\00:26:51.14 last year. But his work continues and I'll always 00:26:51.17\00:26:55.48 remember Mr. Bill and him just coming and giving all that he 00:26:55.51\00:26:59.18 had. He would go around serving people's needs, dental needs or 00:26:59.21\00:27:02.85 medical needs. He would get paid with chickens. 00:27:02.88\00:27:04.99 He gratefully accepted them and so I'm reminded of Revelation 00:27:05.02\00:27:09.89 14 that says and their works will follow them. 00:27:09.92\00:27:12.36 Their works will follow. Think about the power of one. I was 00:27:12.39\00:27:16.43 just thinking from Idaho to Kibidula, Tanzania. That's a... 00:27:16.46\00:27:22.67 that's not something that you just wake up in the morning and 00:27:22.70\00:27:24.27 say I think I want to do that. That's a divine appointment to 00:27:24.31\00:27:27.54 be able to invest, as we saw in that picture there, his whole 00:27:27.58\00:27:31.21 printing outfit all the machines That's a lot to transport. So he 00:27:31.25\00:27:35.38 invested himself and then he ended up moving there to really 00:27:35.42\00:27:39.05 get it off the ground because I could imagine all this equipment 00:27:39.09\00:27:42.86 arriving and people said, So what do we do with it? 00:27:42.89\00:27:47.13 That's why he had to be there. Were you there when it arrived? 00:27:47.16\00:27:49.83 I was there when it arrived. And you know it wasn't his 00:27:49.86\00:27:52.80 original plan to go back. He donated, he began thinking and 00:27:52.83\00:27:58.04 it's like it's back to that same verse I quoted earlier: Where 00:27:58.07\00:28:00.91 your treasure is there will your heart be. And he followed his 00:28:00.94\00:28:04.45 treasure and gave his whole life to the work of printing. 00:28:04.48\00:28:06.65 Just like the one that donated the land. (Yeah) 00:28:06.68\00:28:10.69 That's true. It's amazing how God works. You know the people 00:28:10.72\00:28:14.02 that have something like the Lord asked Moses, What's in your 00:28:14.06\00:28:17.33 hand And we're seeing that what's in our hand can be used 00:28:17.36\00:28:21.70 by the Lord He can divide those loaves and fishes, yeah. 00:28:21.73\00:28:24.53 And there's an email address and a website on every Glow 00:28:24.57\00:28:30.31 tract, every book printed. And as we distribute it people can 00:28:30.34\00:28:33.64 call us and contact us or look on the internet for further 00:28:33.68\00:28:38.68 information. And we get hundreds of thousands of visits to these 00:28:38.71\00:28:45.05 sites looking for more Bible studies or other materials and 00:28:45.09\00:28:50.03 one thing about the literature work, you don't always know what 00:28:50.06\00:28:52.99 the results are because they're not immediate and they're not 00:28:53.03\00:28:55.26 close to you. But we hear stories all the time of people 00:28:55.30\00:29:00.74 having on the street, picked up a piece of paper and the next 00:29:00.77\00:29:04.97 thing you know they're a church member. So we don't know what 00:29:05.01\00:29:09.98 the impact is of this work. But we know that one day in heaven 00:29:10.01\00:29:13.72 we will meet so many people who are there because of Bill Bosay 00:29:13.75\00:29:20.56 and his giving his life for this work. 00:29:20.59\00:29:25.56 Reminds me of that song, "Thank you for giving to the Lord for a 00:29:25.59\00:29:30.00 life that was changed." 00:29:30.03\00:29:33.64 We can't sing right now, but that's true. You don't know the 00:29:33.67\00:29:36.20 impact of it until you look back And I like that because all 00:29:36.24\00:29:37.84 those thousand, no you said millions, of pieces of 00:29:37.87\00:29:42.91 literature are going out. They will get that information. 00:29:42.94\00:29:44.28 You're planting seeds and then the resource that could come 00:29:44.31\00:29:48.15 back. We got this...We've heard those stories through the years. 00:29:48.18\00:29:50.79 And it's not older people alone that give themselves to the work 00:29:50.82\00:29:54.29 The power behind, or the movement behind that five 00:29:54.32\00:29:57.03 million push for Glow tracts is a young man who joined our team 00:29:57.06\00:30:01.33 about seven years ago. He is from Missouri, a farmer's child 00:30:01.36\00:30:06.07 (from Missouri?) Yes. He has never been anywhere else but 00:30:06.10\00:30:08.84 Missouri and he felt God's call to come and join us at the 00:30:08.87\00:30:12.44 mission field. He refuses to accept any pay. He is a 00:30:12.47\00:30:16.41 volunteer but he is a driving force behind so much of what's 00:30:16.44\00:30:19.95 happening at Kibidula today. And when I look at that young man it 00:30:19.98\00:30:23.55 keeps inspiring me to keep going and God's blessing and I just 00:30:23.59\00:30:27.62 want to encourage young people out there. If God is laying it 00:30:27.66\00:30:30.99 on your heart to join the mission field just pray about 00:30:31.03\00:30:36.16 it and ask God to open a way for you because when you look back 00:30:36.20\00:30:39.93 years later it may have been just the start of many amazing 00:30:39.97\00:30:43.54 things. 00:30:43.57\00:30:44.91 Are you accepting new missionaries? 00:30:44.94\00:30:49.08 Yeah, we're always looking for people. Mm-hmm. 00:30:49.11\00:30:52.11 Do you...where do you house them 00:30:52.15\00:30:53.52 So we have several houses on Kibidula and they are filling up 00:30:53.55\00:30:58.59 But we are looking for God's providence to keep expanding 00:30:58.62\00:31:00.62 just like I'm sure here at 3ABN. As the work grows you have to 00:31:00.66\00:31:03.63 keep up and yeah. 00:31:03.66\00:31:06.29 Now we talk about some of the things, the challenges that some 00:31:06.33\00:31:09.70 of the young people face there. Because we know wherever God's 00:31:09.73\00:31:14.50 work is being done there's always some kind of spiritual 00:31:14.54\00:31:16.24 challenge, community challenges. What are some of those 00:31:16.27\00:31:18.57 challenges that some of the young people face in your area? 00:31:18.61\00:31:22.08 I think the biggest thing that the youth of today face in 00:31:22.11\00:31:26.45 Tanzania in our area is poverty. And with poverty comes a lack of 00:31:26.48\00:31:31.92 education and opportunities which leads to boredom in the 00:31:31.95\00:31:35.89 villages. And so what we try and do is provide educational 00:31:35.92\00:31:39.79 opportunities for them. So the young people that come to our 00:31:39.83\00:31:43.47 schools don't have to pay tuition because we realize that 00:31:43.50\00:31:45.63 their parents are not able to, but they are agreeing to work. 00:31:45.67\00:31:49.30 They do plant and harvest their own staples for their own food 00:31:49.34\00:31:53.54 and in addition to agriculture they are learning vocational 00:31:53.58\00:31:57.65 trades like carpentry and tailoring with some basic 00:31:57.68\00:32:01.32 academic subjects. And our hope is that they can truly build-up 00:32:01.35\00:32:04.75 some self-respect when they realize their identity in Christ 00:32:04.79\00:32:07.26 that he made them with a purpose and that they can be a 00:32:07.29\00:32:12.23 blessing to many people. And also, our goal is that they be 00:32:12.26\00:32:15.16 ready to meet him. And so it's been a privilege to see 29 of 00:32:15.20\00:32:19.27 these young people give their lives to Jesus just the last 00:32:19.30\00:32:22.94 year and a half and be baptized. 00:32:22.97\00:32:24.31 Praise the Lord. Twenty-nine; that's the seed that came to 00:32:24.34\00:32:28.31 fruition, wow! 00:32:28.34\00:32:29.68 And we're just so thankful to our staff back at Kibidula. We 00:32:29.71\00:32:33.52 work with local staff and they realize that Kibidula is not 00:32:33.55\00:32:38.05 just a place for employment but that they are called to do 00:32:38.09\00:32:40.82 mission service whether it's in a school or in an office or on 00:32:40.86\00:32:44.16 the farm. 00:32:44.19\00:32:45.99 And so now something happened back in 2003 that helped 00:32:46.03\00:32:53.50 strengthen the educational system there. Talk about that 00:32:53.54\00:32:54.87 for us. 00:32:54.90\00:32:56.24 There was a lady in Colorado. She was quite advanced in age 00:32:56.27\00:33:00.64 and as she felt end approaching she was looking for a worthy 00:33:00.68\00:33:05.58 cause to invest some of her money. And through the ministry 00:33:05.61\00:33:09.02 of Eden Valley, she heard about Tanzania and Kibidula Mission 00:33:09.05\00:33:14.29 and our need to start a primary school because our teachers were 00:33:14.32\00:33:18.99 forced to send their little children to the nearest 00:33:19.03\00:33:20.63 government school. It was a little distance away and they 00:33:20.66\00:33:23.10 were still young, five, six years old. And so when she heard 00:33:23.13\00:33:26.43 that there's a need she invested $20,000 and that helped us to 00:33:26.47\00:33:31.51 start the Iva Werner Primary School and that was the birth of 00:33:31.54\00:33:35.44 the primary school. 00:33:35.48\00:33:36.81 What's the name of it? 00:33:36.85\00:33:38.18 Iva Werner. (Iva Werner) 00:33:38.21\00:33:39.55 Is it named after her? 00:33:39.58\00:33:40.92 Yeah, named after her. (Beautiful) 00:33:40.95\00:33:42.42 You know I'm looking at the cadence here, Idaho, Missouri, 00:33:42.45\00:33:46.82 Colorado, Canada. God pulling people from all different places 00:33:46.86\00:33:51.46 to funnel into the dream that he had. You want to share something 00:33:51.49\00:33:55.16 Well the Lord is not restricted in his resources. He owns the 00:33:55.20\00:34:02.70 cattle on a thousand hills and while he doesn't force our 00:34:02.74\00:34:05.74 hearts he does give a call to us and so when the Lord calls 00:34:05.77\00:34:10.61 his people answer to a large extent and through these people 00:34:10.65\00:34:15.88 all over the world 00:34:15.92\00:34:17.25 the work is going forward. And I believe Jesus will come soon 00:34:17.29\00:34:21.06 because of it. Also in the same year we were able to start that 00:34:21.09\00:34:25.39 agriculture school and it targets these school dropouts. 00:34:25.43\00:34:30.83 It's kids who didn't finish primary school or dropped out of 00:34:30.87\00:34:38.27 secondary school. They're the ones who end up into crime, sex, 00:34:38.31\00:34:46.05 alcohol and joblessness because they don't have a training. And 00:34:46.08\00:34:54.26 so going through our agriculture school, that gives them three 00:34:54.29\00:34:55.99 and a half years of protection and training. They come out the 00:34:56.02\00:35:01.13 other side with a skill that they can depend on and also they 00:35:01.16\00:35:08.30 become upstanding citizens. And through that school many of our 00:35:08.34\00:35:13.51 staff and the workers are former students in that school who've 00:35:13.54\00:35:18.95 graduated and they've become dependable. 00:35:18.98\00:35:20.95 So the staff that you saw in the previous picture with the 00:35:20.98\00:35:23.85 printing process, they are students in the agriculture 00:35:23.89\00:35:27.42 training. We have staff in our avocado pack house that used 00:35:27.46\00:35:31.66 used to be students as well because when they learn about 00:35:31.69\00:35:34.96 Jesus, it gives them a purpose higher than just living for 00:35:35.00\00:35:39.03 themselves. So often they want to continue with Kibidula and 00:35:39.07\00:35:41.57 ministry. 00:35:41.60\00:35:42.94 Beautiful. Now the agriculture. What fruits and vegetables do 00:35:42.97\00:35:47.28 you grow? 00:35:47.31\00:35:49.11 Yeah. So that dream of becoming self-supporting never left us 00:35:49.14\00:35:52.25 and even though we had a hard start eventually we did notice 00:35:52.28\00:35:57.09 that one thing that grew well was avocados. The avocados in 00:35:57.12\00:36:01.79 our gardens were like well better than the avocados you 00:36:01.82\00:36:04.73 taste anywhere else in the world and they grew prolifically. They 00:36:04.76\00:36:08.60 like that cool dry weather (non GMO) non-GMO yeah. And so 00:36:08.63\00:36:16.81 eventually, I thought you know why don't we grow avocados? And 00:36:16.84\00:36:20.71 we started planting. I had a big dream, I thought it was big. It 00:36:20.74\00:36:23.55 is like we're going to do 10,000 trees. And so I started planting 00:36:23.58\00:36:27.78 preparing the land and we received a donation to put in 00:36:27.82\00:36:32.05 some irrigation and I had asked for money to do about 30 acres 00:36:32.09\00:36:38.53 of irrigation. And then I worked really hard and made that money 00:36:38.56\00:36:44.97 go further and we ended up putting about 60 acres of 00:36:45.00\00:36:49.74 irrigated avocados in. (Wonderful) (Okay) And that 00:36:49.77\00:36:54.41 caught the attention of some people who were interested in 00:36:54.44\00:36:56.95 what we were doing and they partnered with us and we were 00:36:56.98\00:37:02.22 able to grow that you know from 10,000 trees. Now we're at about 00:37:02.25\00:37:07.82 78,000 avocado trees. It's a 500 acres avocado farm. Most of 00:37:07.86\00:37:12.19 the trees are still quite young. (There's a picture of it there) 00:37:12.23\00:37:15.56 There's a picture of it. 00:37:15.60\00:37:16.93 So those are avocado trees in the background? 00:37:16.97\00:37:18.30 Yeah. Some of the young ones. (Okay) And 500 acres is a big 00:37:18.33\00:37:22.44 area and this year from our pack house we are exporting about a 00:37:22.47\00:37:31.45 thousand tons of avocados to... mostly to India but also to 00:37:31.48\00:37:37.32 Europe. (wow) 00:37:37.35\00:37:39.99 How long does it take an avocado tree to grow? 00:37:40.02\00:37:41.62 One avocado orchard, one avocado tree. 00:37:41.66\00:37:44.36 Yeah an avocado tree will start producing in around three 00:37:44.39\00:37:50.57 years but it's you know a pretty small tree. Five to seven years 00:37:50.60\00:37:54.84 is when they reach a pretty good production. 00:37:54.87\00:37:57.84 That is interesting because when I look back at that picture the 00:37:57.87\00:38:03.85 people that were standing in front, are those the workers? 00:38:03.88\00:38:06.38 Yeah. I was in that picture too but it's our avocado team. 00:38:06.41\00:38:11.52 The wonderful thing about this whole avocado miracle is that 00:38:11.55\00:38:15.36 he always used to say, Honey, if I just had a million dollars 00:38:15.39\00:38:19.33 we could do so much more work and that's just an impossible 00:38:19.36\00:38:23.63 dream for poor missionaries. But then at the right time, 00:38:23.67\00:38:26.57 according to 00:38:26.60\00:38:27.94 God's providence people partnered with us and the dream 00:38:27.97\00:38:31.87 became a reality. Today we have three dams that we have built on 00:38:31.91\00:38:35.58 the property. The water is on the farm. There's no one down 00:38:35.61\00:38:40.38 stream from us. We are at a high altitude so we harvest at a 00:38:40.42\00:38:44.12 different time than the regular market season in the world. When 00:38:44.15\00:38:47.79 I look at the providences and I see how God has made this happen 00:38:47.82\00:38:51.79 Kibidula is God's farm. I have no other conviction but that 00:38:51.83\00:38:56.56 this is God's farm for such a time as this. Again when I look 00:38:56.60\00:38:59.97 at that map of Africa and I see how red it is up north of us and 00:39:00.00\00:39:04.17 there is no Adventist presence I'm asking myself at a time when 00:39:04.21\00:39:08.61 it was difficult to invest in God invested in Kibidula. At a 00:39:08.64\00:39:12.61 time when our colleagues were not believers, couldn't sleep at 00:39:12.65\00:39:16.48 night, we slept at night. We didn't know fully what God was 00:39:16.52\00:39:20.36 doing and I don't fully know yet what he's going to do but I know 00:39:20.39\00:39:23.59 God may use Kibidula to reach the rest of Africa to bless our 00:39:23.63\00:39:27.26 place. (Wow, wow) 00:39:27.30\00:39:29.80 Can you imagine what you could do with a million dollars. Wow! 00:39:29.83\00:39:32.90 the work that could be done, it's beautiful, the Lord owns 00:39:32.93\00:39:37.97 everything. 00:39:38.01\00:39:39.34 We're going to appeal to our viewers and listeners here. Just 00:39:39.37\00:39:43.21 describe the location of Kibidula because in the picture 00:39:43.24\00:39:46.25 we saw a young man with a coat on and when people think about 00:39:46.28\00:39:48.98 Africa, they think heat, you know desert (the climate) the 00:39:49.02\00:39:54.42 climate exactly. 00:39:54.46\00:39:55.79 Yeah people think of Africa as a place that's very hot and dry 00:39:55.82\00:39:59.43 like desert and...Tanzania has a lot of high-elevation areas. So 00:39:59.46\00:40:05.63 we live on a high plateau. The weather is cool. It can even be 00:40:05.67\00:40:10.07 frosty part of the year but not so frosty that it damages the 00:40:10.11\00:40:14.14 trees. (No snow?) No snow. But it never gets hot either. It's 00:40:14.18\00:40:18.15 cool summer and winter. We always wear jackets there. 00:40:18.18\00:40:23.18 There's very few days that you can get up in the morning and 00:40:23.22\00:40:26.55 say I don't need a jacket. 00:40:26.59\00:40:28.19 So what's the average temperature like? 00:40:28.22\00:40:30.96 On warm days we can get up into the 80s but often in the winter 00:40:30.99\00:40:38.90 months it's 50s and 60s and then 70s and low 80s is common. 00:40:38.93\00:40:45.87 You know I think of some of the practical questions because we 00:40:45.91\00:40:49.14 have so much conveniences here in America. What are some of the 00:40:49.18\00:40:52.48 conveniences that you don't have I'm thinking things like 00:40:52.51\00:40:57.09 internet, communication. How do you...Because it's so far away 00:40:57.12\00:40:59.85 from so much. Talk about some of those things. 00:40:59.89\00:41:04.63 Yeah. When we went to Kibidula there was no electricity and no 00:41:04.66\00:41:08.13 telephones. You used to have to drive two hours to the nearest 00:41:08.16\00:41:12.70 phone. 00:41:12.73\00:41:14.07 And remember we would wait until 8 p.m. when the satellite 00:41:14.10\00:41:16.27 was passing overhead so you can catch it and quickly send an 00:41:16.30\00:41:18.94 email. Later we advanced and we use formula milk cans from house 00:41:18.97\00:41:23.81 to house to send a satellite signal. And then we kept 00:41:23.85\00:41:28.48 progressing till now we all have cell phones and unfortunately my 00:41:28.52\00:41:31.72 husband does his office work while he's lying in bed. So 00:41:31.75\00:41:34.69 technology has caught up with us 00:41:34.72\00:41:38.39 (unclear)Now it's caught you. 00:41:38.43\00:41:42.46 But we're still a little bit remote. The nearest airport is a 00:41:42.50\00:41:49.24 town that's two hours from us. And there's no international 00:41:49.27\00:41:53.71 fights there so it's a 12 hour drive to an international 00:41:53.74\00:41:56.38 airport. (wow) We live on dirt roads but not so far you know. 00:41:56.41\00:42:05.05 It's only 45 minutes to the nearest little town and so... 00:42:05.09\00:42:11.33 As a wife maybe the thing that I missed most was homeschooling 00:42:11.36\00:42:15.30 my children. When we come on furlough every two or three 00:42:15.33\00:42:18.23 years, I have to buy curriculum for the next two or three years 00:42:18.27\00:42:21.57 And I can't sell it on eBay if it doesn't work for us. So I 00:42:21.60\00:42:26.64 remember spending a lot of time in prayer saying Lord, my girls 00:42:26.68\00:42:28.54 are growing, they're outgrowing some things. Please help me, 00:42:28.58\00:42:33.05 guide me to the right materials and I'm just so amazed because 00:42:33.08\00:42:38.15 we basically volunteer so we didn't have the money to know a 00:42:38.19\00:42:42.06 year ahead how we were going to fund their schooling but Jason 00:42:42.09\00:42:45.66 and I have always believed if we live by the fact that God has 00:42:45.69\00:42:48.53 promised to provide for our needs which he has and 00:42:48.56\00:42:50.03 every year he 00:42:50.07\00:42:51.40 has provided for our children's education. That's just one 00:42:51.43\00:42:54.80 example of a convenience that would have been nice if I could 00:42:54.84\00:42:57.94 have had access to a book store or take my girls to some 00:42:57.97\00:43:02.11 extracurricular class or something like that. 00:43:02.14\00:43:06.98 You know that's...We think so conveniently in America here and 00:43:07.02\00:43:11.19 when we go places and realize look north, east, south, and 00:43:11.22\00:43:15.29 west. Ah it's going to be awhile before we get to where we're 00:43:15.32\00:43:18.03 aiming to get to. 00:43:18.06\00:43:19.39 But Pastor John it's okay. You know I have learned and what we 00:43:19.43\00:43:22.90 strive to be an example to our team is that we need each other. 00:43:22.93\00:43:25.27 We need people who have the means that we need people in the 00:43:25.30\00:43:29.04 Un-entered areas of the world, one giving service and one 00:43:29.07\00:43:33.44 giving means to partner together and that's how we can finish the 00:43:33.48\00:43:36.68 work together. If we were just keeping to ourselves because we 00:43:36.71\00:43:40.32 understand each other better rather than to try and figure 00:43:40.35\00:43:42.15 other cultures or other people out, we severely limit ourselves 00:43:42.18\00:43:46.42 we severely limit our faith, we severely limit and retard 00:43:46.45\00:43:49.52 the work. And so it's a team effort coming together cross 00:43:49.56\00:43:53.23 culturally many times to further the work. 00:43:53.26\00:43:56.90 Are you able to watch 3ABN? 00:43:56.93\00:44:00.24 We don't actually have a TV. We can pull it up on our phone 00:44:00.27\00:44:04.41 though. (Okay) 00:44:04.44\00:44:07.11 So every now and then by kids would see Auntie Linda,_ 00:44:07.14\00:44:11.38 3ABN (when they were young) when they were young. (Right) 00:44:11.41\00:44:15.18 And so we think about...I don't know if we showed that last 00:44:15.22\00:44:19.09 picture of the avocado in the factory being packaged up. I 00:44:19.12\00:44:23.36 didn't see that one. Maybe I missed it. 00:44:23.39\00:44:24.99 Yeah, they showed...Packaged? Did you show that one? 00:44:25.03\00:44:28.26 The Package House. 00:44:28.30\00:44:29.83 Really interesting to know that India and Europe are benefitting 00:44:29.86\00:44:33.90 from those avocados. So you didn't bring any with you did 00:44:33.94\00:44:36.40 you? (Chuckles) 00:44:36.44\00:44:37.87 Unfortunately, America doesn't allow us to bring avocados. But 00:44:37.91\00:44:41.11 we are negotiating right now with the U.S. government and 00:44:41.14\00:44:44.35 hopefully within a year Kibidula will see that possibility of 00:44:44.38\00:44:49.82 bringing avocados to America. 00:44:49.85\00:44:51.49 Yeah. We don't know how it's going to pan out right now but 00:44:51.52\00:44:54.12 it's one of those interesting developments that are happening 00:44:54.16\00:44:57.59 He was not exaggerating when he was saying we grow superior 00:44:57.63\00:45:01.70 avocados. It really is true. People are seeking after them. 00:45:01.73\00:45:04.63 So we're excited about possibilities we're seeing where 00:45:04.67\00:45:07.50 that one may lead. 00:45:07.54\00:45:08.87 Yeah that's true because the better the avocado the better 00:45:08.90\00:45:11.37 the guacamole. Now talk about some of the needs you have. 00:45:11.41\00:45:15.41 Some of the specific needs because I want our audience 00:45:15.44\00:45:18.51 listening. As you mentioned Idaho, Colorado, a printing 00:45:18.55\00:45:23.05 press, all these things. Talk about some of the specific needs 00:45:23.08\00:45:27.09 that you have and I believe that God will move on the hearts of 00:45:27.12\00:45:30.53 those who are watching. 00:45:30.56\00:45:32.83 Well we always covet your prayers and you know thinking 00:45:32.86\00:45:40.70 about us, we need people to support the work in Africa. But 00:45:40.74\00:45:44.24 specific financial needs that people can partner with us on 00:45:44.27\00:45:47.11 is training the lay missionaries the Tanzanians who go through 00:45:47.14\00:45:53.62 our training course. It costs about $400 to train one 00:45:53.65\00:45:58.52 missionary. That's a five-month course. And then we send them 00:45:58.55\00:46:04.06 out into un-entered areas of Tanzania and that costs us about 00:46:04.09\00:46:08.30 $100 a month to maintain a family in an un-entered area. 00:46:08.33\00:46:12.90 That's only a hundred a month?! 00:46:12.93\00:46:15.00 So we sponsor them part-time with the understanding that half 00:46:15.04\00:46:19.21 a day they work for us and half a day they work to support 00:46:19.24\00:46:22.11 themselves. But we contribute $100 toward them so that they 00:46:22.14\00:46:25.61 can cover their basic needs. So people could partner with us to 00:46:25.65\00:46:29.15 keep our evangelism training center going at $400 per student 00:46:29.18\00:46:32.55 for a five-month course, or to help us support our lay 00:46:32.59\00:46:35.82 missionaries after the training at $100 a month. 00:46:35.86\00:46:39.33 And then like I mentioned earlier we are building a new 00:46:39.36\00:46:42.76 printing press, the foundation has been started and we do need 00:46:42.80\00:46:47.57 help to finish that building so that we can move our new 00:46:47.60\00:46:52.14 equipment which is almost in Tanzania. It's on the 00:46:52.17\00:46:54.81 way. And be able to print more tracts, more literature, more 00:46:54.84\00:47:01.08 Bible studies and, of course, books. 00:47:01.12\00:47:03.79 And then we mentioned the church building program. So if anyone's 00:47:03.82\00:47:08.19 willing to partner with us through ASI the church Roofs 00:47:08.22\00:47:11.66 Over Africa project. For $1000 you can put a tin roof...No I 00:47:11.69\00:47:15.40 need to not say tin roof because we are no longer living in the 00:47:15.43\00:47:17.97 days of the tin roof. The technology has become so much 00:47:18.00\00:47:22.20 better now It's an Aluzinc combination that they use now 00:47:22.24\00:47:26.78 and these roofs have lasted for decades now. When people work together, the ladies 00:47:26.81\00:47:32.21 and the men work together to make their own bricks and they 00:47:32.25\00:47:34.98 can build the walls. But the struggling aspect for them, the 00:47:35.02\00:47:37.65 stumbling block is the roof itself. It's very expensive and 00:47:37.69\00:47:42.46 so for $1000, you can help a congregation to put a roof on 00:47:42.49\00:47:45.79 their church. 00:47:45.83\00:47:47.16 That's right. The banner over me is love as the children used to 00:47:47.20\00:47:49.40 sing that song and as I'm looking at this I'm thinking 00:47:49.43\00:47:54.74 how could our viewers and our listeners you know partner in a 00:47:54.77\00:47:58.81 significant way as we, Antionette and Jason, as we 00:47:58.84\00:48:04.81 listen to what God in the life of Kibidula Farms. Let me ask 00:48:04.85\00:48:09.45 another question. If people want to volunteer, if people want to 00:48:09.48\00:48:13.25 come there, how do you do that? 00:48:13.29\00:48:14.66 Right. So we love young people Student missionaries are always 00:48:14.69\00:48:20.40 welcome whether they come through a university like 00:48:20.43\00:48:22.76 Southern Adventist University or just by themselves. They are 00:48:22.80\00:48:25.83 welcome to contact us and start dialoguing with us. If they're 00:48:25.87\00:48:29.70 looking for an opportunity for six to nine months to come and 00:48:29.74\00:48:32.47 volunteer in any of our schools or on the farm or in our PR 00:48:32.51\00:48:36.38 department or in the offices. We would love to dialogue with 00:48:36.41\00:48:39.81 them and welcome them. For some other people who would like to 00:48:39.85\00:48:42.88 some and help us, we have some building projects going on right 00:48:42.92\00:48:45.75 now. We are actually looking for someone who could oversee a 00:48:45.79\00:48:49.86 building project for us for the next several months. If someone 00:48:49.89\00:48:54.30 would like to help us in our office with administration, we 00:48:54.33\00:48:57.53 do need someone to help us just organize our office and run it 00:48:57.57\00:49:01.00 so that we can keep up with the demands. We are looking for just 00:49:01.04\00:49:08.21 anyone who's willing to even partner with a wonderful 00:49:08.24\00:49:10.81 ministry called Child Impact. Child Impact goes around the 00:49:10.85\00:49:16.22 world to save young children from the trafficking business 00:49:16.25\00:49:21.96 and vulnerable at-risk children. I had a wonderful opportunity 00:49:21.99\00:49:27.43 to meet with Child Impact at ASI And that's why ASI's so 00:49:27.46\00:49:30.97 wonderful because you can network and make connections 00:49:31.00\00:49:33.27 The Child Impact has been willing to work with me to 00:49:33.30\00:49:37.54 sponsor some of the girls in our agriculture training program 00:49:37.57\00:49:40.14 So people supporting Child Impact is indirectly also 00:49:40.18\00:49:44.55 supporting ministries like Kibidula. 00:49:44.58\00:49:47.92 Okay. And so if you were to say the most urgent need you have 00:49:47.95\00:49:51.95 how would you respond to that? 00:49:51.99\00:49:54.12 Well the thing that's really on my heart right now is getting 00:49:54.16\00:50:00.76 that printing press building complete. 00:50:00.80\00:50:03.40 Just give us an idea the cost upper cost in your estimation. 00:50:03.43\00:50:07.94 Building in Africa is a lot cheaper than building in 00:50:07.97\00:50:11.34 America. You know when I say a figure in America it would be 00:50:11.37\00:50:15.91 hard to build a house in some places but you know about 00:50:15.94\00:50:21.35 $200,000 would build us a substantial building and so 00:50:21.38\00:50:25.22 that's what we think we need for that building at this time. 00:50:25.25\00:50:28.62 The other thing also and one of the reasons we are in the U.S. 00:50:28.66\00:50:31.73 for a few weeks is not just to give donor reports but also to 00:50:31.76\00:50:35.93 ask for people who are going to partner with us because even 00:50:35.96\00:50:38.77 though we started the avocado exporting business we're not 00:50:38.80\00:50:41.37 quite making a profit yet. The business is still in it's 00:50:41.40\00:50:45.04 infancy and while it's going well we still need support 00:50:45.07\00:50:49.04 for another year to keep the mission operations going and 00:50:49.08\00:50:51.98 then it's our goal as soon as the business has enough profit 00:50:52.01\00:50:55.02 that we can support our mission but then also expand the mission 00:50:55.05\00:51:00.29 work across Tanzania and beyond and support missions. 00:51:00.32\00:51:02.59 Do you have a church pastor? 00:51:02.62\00:51:04.76 No, we...we're... 00:51:04.79\00:51:07.76 We're under the care of a district pastor and then 00:51:07.80\00:51:13.94 dependent on our own staff as well. So we could use a chaplain 00:51:13.97\00:51:16.40 if there's someone out there with a heart to keep 00:51:16.44\00:51:19.77 missionaries and staff motivated and grounded in the love of 00:51:19.81\00:51:22.58 Jesus, please, do communicate with us. 00:51:22.61\00:51:25.51 Wow. What a program, what a program. We're going to talk 00:51:25.55\00:51:28.12 about some more on the other side but as you think about what 00:51:28.15\00:51:31.02 God can do in your own life just think about Kibidula Farms and 00:51:31.05\00:51:35.86 you may be located somewhere in America or somewhere around the 00:51:35.89\00:51:38.06 world we're going to give you information that you need to get 00:51:38.09\00:51:40.26 in touch with Antionette and Jason there at Kibidula Farms 00:51:40.30\00:51:44.43 and become a partner by advancing the work in Tanzania. 00:51:44.47\00:51:48.77 We'll be right back after this short thought. 00:51:48.80\00:51:51.07 If you would like to contact or know more about Kibidula Farm 00:51:51.11\00:51:57.95 you can do so in the following ways: You can write to them at 00:51:57.98\00:52:01.18 P.O. Box 17, Mafinga, Tanzania, East Africa. You can call them 00:52:01.22\00:52:06.15 at +255 (756) 993-336 You can also contact by 00:52:06.19\00:52:19.53 Whatsapp. You can send them an email at kibidula@gmail.com or 00:52:19.57\00:52:24.61 visit their website at kibidula.org 00:52:24.64\00:52:29.21
