bit about your background.

~ Jason, I was born in Moldova.

That's a country
in the former USSR

between Ukraine and Romania.

And then at the age
of 15 I got rebellious

and left home and church.

I went to England for four
years and Canada for four years.

And then in Canada
was when I met Jesus

for the first time in my life.

Even though I was in an
Adventist family before,

that was my first
encounter with Jesus.

And I decided to go and
study theology in South America,

in Argentina.

And that was such a blessing.

That's where I met
a young lady, Karen.

Today she's my wife
and mother of four kids.

And that's where for the
first time I started canvassing.

Canvassing, for
those who don't know,
00:07:52.27\00:07:54.04
is basically
selling books door to door.
00:07:54.07\00:07:56.34
At first, I saw that was
such a horrible work to do.
00:07:56.60\00:07:59.64
You know, a lot of
rejections and stuff.
00:07:59.67\00:08:02.18
But then I just loved
it so much, and I said,
00:08:02.38\00:08:04.65
"Lord, I want to do this
for the rest of my life."
00:08:04.68\00:08:07.88
So currently I'm working for
Central California Conference
00:08:07.92\00:08:11.05
in the literature
evangelism department.
00:08:11.09\00:08:13.15
And also working
with Streams of Light.
00:08:13.36\00:08:15.29
~ That's beautiful. Now where
did that transition come in?
00:08:15.32\00:08:18.36
Because you
hated it at one point,
00:08:18.39\00:08:19.96
and then you started loving it.

What changed?

You know, when I read
about Peter, the disciple,

when he said to Jesus,
"You'll never wash my feet."

And then he said,
"Wash me entirely."

That was kind of my
experience, because I said
00:08:32.81\00:08:35.11
canvassing work
is only for losers.
00:08:35.14\00:08:37.48
That's what was in my mind
because I'd seen the negative
00:08:37.58\00:08:40.65
experience when I was a kid.
00:08:40.68\00:08:42.32
But when I went out door to
door and I actually have seen
00:08:42.68\00:08:46.45
how people receive it, yes
you do get a lot of rejections,
00:08:46.49\00:08:49.32
but then people
telling you stuff like,
00:08:49.42\00:08:51.83
"I was praying this
morning that God would show me
00:08:51.86\00:08:54.46
that He loves me and He
will open His truth to me.
00:08:54.50\00:08:57.00
And then now you come."

And then seeing people
giving their lives to Jesus
00:08:58.70\00:09:01.50
as a result of that
ministry, I like said,
00:09:01.54\00:09:03.54
"Lord, this is too much."
00:09:03.57\00:09:05.07
And then when I went
through that experience,
00:09:05.17\00:09:07.21
when I've seen
what it does to people,
00:09:07.24\00:09:10.11
what it did to me, you
know, to encourage me to go out

even when it's hot
or when it's raining.

You really have to push yourself
out of your comfort zone.

And after that, I just
said I want to be in this

for the rest of my
life or until Jesus comes.

~ Yeah, you know, I
didn't have the privilege of

growing up in an Adventist home.
00:09:51.02\00:09:52.49
But through a nature of events
and whirlwinds in my life,
00:09:52.82\00:09:55.92
at the age of 15, I
found the Adventist message.
00:09:55.96\00:09:58.96
And the Adventist message
came to me through my father
00:09:59.29\00:10:01.93
who was in prison at the time.
00:10:01.96\00:10:03.80
And God used him
to reach out to me.
00:10:03.83\00:10:06.10
And just in God's divine
timing He pulled me out of
00:10:06.13\00:10:10.21
darkness before it was too late.
00:10:10.24\00:10:11.84
And it was just almost
immediately, even before
00:10:11.87\00:10:16.28
being baptized, as soon as
I started learning the truth,
00:10:16.31\00:10:18.88
I got involved in what we
call literature evangelism.
00:10:18.91\00:10:21.58
And all the money I would
have I would go and buy books
00:10:21.98\00:10:26.19
and I would go to the
gas stations every night
00:10:26.42\00:10:28.72
to try to distribute to
people the little bit of
00:10:28.76\00:10:30.99
knowledge that I knew.
00:10:31.03\00:10:32.36
And that was where the
love of literature evangelism
00:10:32.39\00:10:35.00
just grew in my heart.
00:10:35.03\00:10:36.53
And I remember one
day there was this program
00:10:36.56\00:10:39.63
in Texas called, Sent.
00:10:39.67\00:10:41.67
And it's where they train people
on how to give Bible studies,
00:10:41.70\00:10:44.44
and how to preach,
how to do apologetics,
00:10:44.47\00:10:47.31
And you know those
moments when you're in church
00:10:47.51\00:10:50.01
and the pastor calls, "Hey,
go and hug or shake someone's
00:10:50.11\00:10:53.48
hand that you
have never met before."
00:10:53.52\00:10:55.15
And it was one of those moments,
and I encountered this lady.
00:10:55.35\00:10:58.79
And I said, "Well,
what do you do for a living?
00:10:59.25\00:11:02.29
Or what are you
doing right now?"
00:11:02.32\00:11:03.66
She said, "You know, I'm
in a work called canvassing.
00:11:03.69\00:11:06.83
We go out eight hours a
day, four to five days a week,
00:11:06.93\00:11:10.50
and we not only
share the gospel,
00:11:10.53\00:11:12.83
but we leave the books and
support ourselves on donations."
00:11:12.87\00:11:15.97
And I stopped her and I
said, "Wait, wait, wait.
00:11:16.30\00:11:17.64
You get to go our
for eight hours a day?"
00:11:17.67\00:11:20.28
I said, "I wish I could do that.
00:11:20.44\00:11:21.78
I can only do one or two hours
after school in the evening."
00:11:21.81\00:11:24.51
I said, "How
can I get involved?"
00:11:24.55\00:11:26.01
And basically, she
told me how to get involved.
00:11:26.11\00:11:29.42
I got involved in my first
program, canvassing program
00:11:29.45\00:11:33.09
in the summer, and I did
that for about eight months
00:11:33.12\00:11:37.33
between the
summer program fulltime.
00:11:37.36\00:11:39.79
And then I got linked
up with Bible working.
00:11:40.13\00:11:43.03
It went from there.
00:11:43.13\00:11:44.47
After Bible working I realized
that there's a great need
00:11:44.50\00:11:47.14
in the world for not
only spiritual help and
00:11:47.57\00:11:51.71
spiritual healing, but physical.
00:11:51.74\00:11:53.54
And so I got
convicted to go and study in
00:11:53.58\00:11:55.94
medical missionary work there
at Wildwood Health Institution.
00:11:55.98\00:11:59.05
And it was thereafter
graduating that I ran into
00:11:59.25\00:12:01.58
Streams of Light International.

We've been serving
together ever since.

Streams of Light all about?

So this is our goal.
We're so excited about this.

I mean, there are more

So that's what Streams
of Light is doing right now.

fact is that we have about

in the Adventist church.

And when you compare that to
the amount of pastors we have,

when you compare
laymen to ordained ministers,

we have 99.91 percent of the
church made up of lay members.

So if we're going to work
together to finish the work,

if there's any muscle
in the Adventist church,

it's the lay members.

So you know, like you said, we
can't just do the mission trips,

It's not just
about us doing the work,

but it's about
getting everyone involved,

the muscle of the
church, in order to reach

every home of North America.

And for that reason,
we have prayed earnestly,

"Lord, what can we do?

What can we create in
order to help in this process?"

that people are asking me often,

mean, I'm super passionate

the work of God on this earth

will never be finished
unless the men and women that

comprise our church
membership rally together,

unite their
efforts with those of

church officers and ministers.

But we're told that
many would be willing to work

if they were just
simply taught how to begin.

That every church
should be a training school.

So that's why we're so
passionate about not only

them, but equipping them

And in order to enthuse
more churches, in particular

a large city, we thought
of this idea of mission trips.

Some people, some ministries
use mission trips as a means of

distributing and getting as much
out, you know, for themselves.

But the way we view it
is as a tool to inspire

all the churches around.

And so, what we'll do is
for about four to five days

we'll choose a large
city and we'll collaborate

with the Conference
and local churches there

So every Labor Day
weekend we set aside time for a

anybody to come from across

world and join us day by day.

have prayer together,

the Lord and search the Word.

we're not interested."

one for the entire mission trip.
