Wow, I can't believe our time is just about up. But Dr. Anderson 00:00:01.36\00:00:03.83 how does orthopedic surgery fit into your model? 00:00:03.87\00:00:07.74 Well that's a great question and we're trying to figure that out 00:00:07.77\00:00:11.04 So we're sort of feeling that out as we go. In many ways, it's 00:00:11.07\00:00:14.74 the opposite of what we've done. You mentioned how it's so 00:00:14.78\00:00:17.91 equipment dependent. You know we have to drag along a ton of 00:00:17.95\00:00:20.28 equipment. It's technology dependent and it's very 00:00:20.32\00:00:24.79 expertise dependent. So it's the opposite in the sense that the 00:00:24.82\00:00:31.99 rest of our program is very locally driven. So we have local 00:00:32.03\00:00:36.23 employees, supervisors. Not a great need for you know visits 00:00:36.26\00:00:42.04 from Americans and sort of western influence. So that's 00:00:42.07\00:00:44.44 really the strength of the program. The reason orthopedics 00:00:44.47\00:00:47.18 is a passion of mine in these developing countries because it 00:00:47.21\00:00:51.91 makes such a difference. So there's so much trauma, there's 00:00:51.95\00:00:54.12 so many accidents. If you break your leg in the US and I don't 00:00:54.15\00:00:58.19 fix it, no big deal. Somebody else will fix it. It's going to 00:00:58.22\00:01:00.52 get fixed. There's no broken leg that goes unfixed for the most 00:01:00.56\00:01:04.49 part, but in these countries people have horrible open 00:01:04.53\00:01:07.36 fractures that are never treated They get infected. They get an 00:01:07.40\00:01:11.30 amputation and their life is changed forever, not just their 00:01:11.33\00:01:14.00 life but the life of that family for generations. So if dad can't 00:01:14.04\00:01:17.24 work it affects the kids. Their opportunities are less, 00:01:17.27\00:01:20.98 grandkids. You know it's a generational problem. So it's a 00:01:21.01\00:01:25.28 way to make a huge impact in many of these countries. So 00:01:25.31\00:01:28.95 we're trying to figure out how to do that. And probably the 00:01:28.98\00:01:31.35 best way to do that is to provide teaching instead of me 00:01:31.39\00:01:34.29 going over and doing it. Showing someone else how to do it. 00:01:34.32\00:01:36.36 Yeah, absolutely, absolutely. So you're equipping people from 00:01:36.39\00:01:41.90 afar. You're equipping them locally. You're going over there 00:01:41.93\00:01:44.40 This is incredible. I wish we had more time to discuss this. 00:01:44.43\00:01:49.00 But thank you guys for coming on and thank you for sharing 00:01:49.04\00:01:52.11 what's on your heart and your wonderful mission work that's 00:01:52.14\00:01:54.71 taking place. Thank you for joining us. Till next time 00:01:54.74\00:01:57.45 God bless you. 00:01:57.48\00:01:58.81 ¤ ¤ 00:01:58.85\00:02:54.80
