was serving as a missionary

from a very poor neighborhood.

as they went to the store

pick whatever they wanted

So at first, they
didn't want to take anything

a lot about our faith. I

pretty much before I could walk.

I had a lot of knowledge;
I believed it was true

wasn't a Christian.

Actually when I was 16 years old

be ashamed of my faith.

I used to think Christianity,
going to church and these kind

it's a beautiful thing.

it's the best way to live

I didn't want anyone to
know - but God transformed me

into an active witness for Him.

Three key components
that changed my Christian life

brought the Bible to church

this is a boring book.

But I started to realize

The main thing,

It was the big... it

My dream since I was 6

was to become a
professional soccer player.

And I spent a lot of time
in that. It was my big game

and big focus... so much time.

And I was good
at it! I did well.

But God drastically
changed the direction of my life

when I was 17 years old.

And so gradually He started
to get involved in my life

I can share a little bit about

that. That was certainly
one of the most life-changing

experiences and
weeks of my life.

There is a
picture from the school.

I was studying at the
Adventist Junior College.

When I was 16 years old
this Week of Prayer took place.

I lived in the dorm there.

And we had a preacher...
a Week of Prayer preacher

coming from South America. A
missionary from South America.

He came there and he was
preaching powerful messages.

He was sharing stories
about answered prayers,

angelic protection, and
powerful divine appointments,

powerful miracles. And
to me, it's like: "Whoa!

This kind of sounds like it
could be taken straight from

the book of Acts. "
You know, I hadn't really

quite heard anything like it.

So the young people
there... we were touched.

We were like:
"Wow! This is cool! "

The preacher made appeals
to seek God first in our lives.

To surrender everything to Him.

To join the Lord's
army... to work for God.

And we were
responding... many of us.

I certainly did. And we

We were saying with Isaiah:
"God, here am I. Send me.

wanted to get involved.

And the most powerful
part of that week was Sabbath.

my opinion, anyway.

Sabbath morning for the
divine service it was the most

powerful meeting
I've been too, probably.

onto me. There was an atheist
from my class sitting there

on the way to freedom.

There were two
non-Christians from my class

standing up sharing
how God has been working

in their life that week.
How they have given their life

to God. One of them
decided to be baptized.

They were sharing how
there was a suicidal person

I never met that came
driving over there to the school

to get help. And
after the meeting

I don't think
there was any dry eye.

God really worked.
And one thing: they shared

this testimony what
happened during the week.

The preacher challenged a few
of the students to get rid of

things from their
lives that were not positive

for their Christianity. We
live in a great controversy.

So they started to get rid
of you know heavy metal music

and death symbols
and things like this.

And as they were getting
rid of their last items -

they were trashing CDs, in
the time we used typical CDs.

Everything's on the hard
drive. And as the last item was

removed from one of those
young people that did that -

an atheist - she felt this...
literally this electric power

go all the way through her body

all the way out through the toes

and in amazement and
we see it in her eyes

she realized that
she had been healed

from the agonizing chronic back
pain that she had been suffering

for more than four months
or closer to eight. Um-hmm.

She had been healed!
It's an amazing story.

If I wouldn't have been there
sometimes it's kind of hard to

believe this kind of thing.
But... So they shared this story

And the preacher, he builds on

the momentum and he has
this garbage bin right below

church there on Sabbath morning

students to go to their rooms

and pick up things that are not
positive for a Christian life -

movies, music,
books... things like this -

of course, there are
good things like that as well

but they came.
Many of us... we went.

We took things; we
surrendered fully to God.

We wanted to be all in for God.

We wanted to serve Him; we
wanted to be in the Lord's army.

And to me, that's when I
really started to get involved

in serving God and in
going to mission trips.

And it was certainly a
turning point of my life

for which I am
eternally grateful.

And it was the biggest revival
for that school for decades.
