My name is Ryan Day and 00:01:05.96\00:01:10.30 it's always a blessing to have a 3ABN family joining us, tuning 00:01:10.33\00:01:13.27 in at this time. This is our 3ABN Today program and we have 00:01:13.30\00:01:17.51 all kinds of different 3ABN Today programs. Sometimes we 00:01:17.54\00:01:20.54 might do a Bible study. Sometimes it might be an 00:01:20.58\00:01:23.45 interview like what we're going to do today. Sometimes it might 00:01:23.48\00:01:27.15 even be a music program. But this is an opportunity for us to 00:01:27.18\00:01:30.79 take the time to highlight what God is doing in the mission 00:01:30.82\00:01:33.99 field and that's exactly what we're going to be doing today 00:01:34.02\00:01:36.32 and I'm not going to spend much time giving this introduction, 00:01:36.36\00:01:40.03 you know talking in this introduction because we want to 00:01:40.06\00:01:42.90 get right into the meat of what we're here today for. We have 00:01:42.93\00:01:46.27 Child Impact International with us in the house today. How's it 00:01:46.30\00:01:49.67 going, my friends? 00:01:49.70\00:01:51.31 Fantastic. We're glad to be here 00:01:51.34\00:01:53.14 Amen, amen. It's going to be a wonderful time. We're going to 00:01:53.17\00:01:54.98 be talking about missions. We're going to be talking about 00:01:55.01\00:01:56.71 evangelism. We're going to be hearing stories of rescue. Just 00:01:56.75\00:02:01.02 being able to talk with these wonderful people you know 00:02:01.05\00:02:03.99 preparing for this program has just been such a blessing and I 00:02:04.02\00:02:06.22 know that you are going to be blessed as well. And so get your 00:02:06.25\00:02:10.23 friends, your family, everyone, enemies, everyone gathered 00:02:10.26\00:02:13.50 around at this time because you're going to want to hear 00:02:13.53\00:02:15.50 what's going to be presented today and how God is using Child 00:02:15.53\00:02:19.57 Impact International to change lives. And you know what, 00:02:19.60\00:02:23.17 there's no doubt in my mind there's someone watching today 00:02:23.20\00:02:25.94 that's going to want to be a part of this, that's going to be 00:02:25.97\00:02:29.11 inspire to want to help and to join in this effort in some way, 00:02:29.14\00:02:32.71 form or fashion. So before I go any further I just want to go 00:02:32.75\00:02:35.58 ahead and introduce you guys. I'm going to start here and just 00:02:35.62\00:02:37.89 kind of go around so we're kind of set in an awkward sense. In 00:02:37.92\00:02:42.82 this case we have Miss Donna Wiley (Willey, Donna Willey) 00:02:42.86\00:02:48.43 (Right) Oh, you said that to me earlier, Donna Willey. And Donna 00:02:48.46\00:02:51.33 what do you do for Child Impact International? 00:02:51.37\00:02:53.60 Will actually I'm one of the board members and I'm a new 00:02:53.64\00:02:57.17 board member, but boy I love it. It just opens your eyes to give 00:02:57.21\00:03:03.61 you more of a world vision of what's going on instead of just 00:03:03.65\00:03:06.38 right here in North America. I absolutely love it. 00:03:06.41\00:03:09.45 Amen, praise the Lord, Praise the Lord. It's a good blessing 00:03:09.48\00:03:12.05 to have you here with us. (Thank you). And Tom, Tom Evans. 00:03:12.09\00:03:14.42 You are...what do you do for Child Impact International? 00:03:14.46\00:03:17.16 Well I'm leader of the team as of less than a year ago now and 00:03:17.19\00:03:21.30 so I'm the CEO which means really I'm casting a vision, 00:03:21.33\00:03:27.30 looking at new projects, where do we go next, what are the 00:03:27.34\00:03:30.24 needs that we respond to? (Gotcha) And so it's really 00:03:30.27\00:03:34.31 something that aligns with my passion in a big way. 00:03:34.34\00:03:38.35 Amen, amen, it's great to have you here brother. And right down 00:03:38.38\00:03:40.62 at the end of the table, we have Miss Melissa Moore. Melissa tell 00:03:40.65\00:03:43.52 us what you do for Child Impact International? 00:03:43.55\00:03:46.76 I'm the marketing manager which is a really fun job because I 00:03:46.79\00:03:49.49 get to tell the stories of what's happening in the field, 00:03:49.52\00:03:52.99 the lives that are changed and transformed from this ministry. 00:03:53.03\00:03:55.96 Amen, awesome and we're going to hear a little bit more about 00:03:56.00\00:03:59.10 that in a moment. And last but not least we have 00:03:59.13\00:04:01.64 Jason Churchwell. Jason what do you do for Child Impact 00:04:01.67\00:04:05.67 International? 00:04:05.71\00:04:07.11 Sure, thank you. No, I just joined Child Impact about three 00:04:07.14\00:04:09.48 weeks ago now. I'm really excited to be part of this team. 00:04:09.51\00:04:12.51 And I'm the field director so I oversee all of our projects out 00:04:12.55\00:04:16.89 in the field and we're excited and looking forward to 00:04:16.92\00:04:21.52 continuing to help these children in need around the 00:04:21.56\00:04:23.09 world. 00:04:23.12\00:04:24.46 Amen, amen. So on that note Tom I'm going to come to you. There 00:04:24.49\00:04:27.50 may be someone watching right now that this is the first time 00:04:27.53\00:04:29.43 they've ever heard of Child Impact International 00:04:29.46\00:04:31.93 I know we've had you guys on in the past for a few programs but 00:04:31.97\00:04:36.07 being that you're...You're kind of the new guy as well in this 00:04:36.10\00:04:39.04 new position as the leader of this ministry. Tell us a little 00:04:39.07\00:04:41.94 bit about you know what is Child Impact International, what do 00:04:41.98\00:04:45.18 you guys do and a little bit of the history of how that started. 00:04:45.21\00:04:47.58 So the history goes back several decades to Asian Aid that 00:04:47.62\00:04:51.95 started in Australia. And the idea was to begin a branch of 00:04:51.99\00:04:56.36 Asian Aid in the United States. So it was Asian Aid, USA. Well 00:04:56.39\00:05:00.00 the name itself kind of attaches geographically to a certain area 00:05:00.03\00:05:04.53 and so a number of years ago it was determined that there was a 00:05:04.57\00:05:08.47 desire to expand more broadly globally. (Right) And so the 00:05:08.50\00:05:11.27 name Child Impact International was selected. I absolutely love 00:05:11.31\00:05:15.81 the name because it really at the center of what we do it's 00:05:15.84\00:05:18.21 all about children. (Right) And so we have become more global 00:05:18.25\00:05:21.62 in our presence. We're currently in 12 countries and we are 00:05:21.65\00:05:26.05 planning to open other countries as the resources and 00:05:26.09\00:05:29.02 opportunities arise. 00:05:29.06\00:05:30.39 Wow, praise the Lord, praise the Lord. And I know we're going to 00:05:30.43\00:05:32.76 see a lot today. They've brought a lot of video clips and some 00:05:32.79\00:05:36.67 photos and I know you guys are going to explain to us even more 00:05:36.70\00:05:40.24 in-depth as to what you guys do and what you have currently 00:05:40.27\00:05:43.10 going on right now. But I understand you guys kind of have 00:05:43.14\00:05:46.51 a...I saw a little bit of this video, a really nice, impactful 00:05:46.54\00:05:49.21 video that you want to share with us at this time. So set it 00:05:49.24\00:05:52.05 up for us. 00:05:52.08\00:05:53.42 Sure yeah. This video is from Tanzania one of our partners 00:05:53.45\00:05:56.82 called Falco's Children's Home. I believe that couple that runs 00:05:56.85\00:05:59.55 this particular orphanage has interviewed here. (Yes) And it's 00:05:59.59\00:06:03.83 just been a tremendous partner for us because they're involved 00:06:03.86\00:06:07.63 in rescue situations. And that is part of what we do as Child 00:06:07.66\00:06:10.67 Impact. We do child sponsorship. We're also involved in 00:06:10.70\00:06:14.24 rescue situations, 00:06:14.27\00:06:15.60 human trafficking scenarios that we can be involved in 00:06:15.64\00:06:21.71 intervening. So this particular story is interesting because 00:06:21.74\00:06:25.91 this location is very near to a safari park and of course the 00:06:25.95\00:06:31.55 tourists come into the safari park and at high season tourists 00:06:31.59\00:06:35.42 are also looking for something else when they come in. About 00:06:35.46\00:06:37.69 nine months later babies start showing up in toilets, abandoned 00:06:37.73\00:06:41.53 along the roadside and the story of this particular young man 00:06:41.56\00:06:44.67 Miracle Moses he's called, is one of the most remarkable. 00:06:44.70\00:06:47.57 Yes, I had the privilege of interviewing Jerry and Valerie 00:06:47.60\00:06:51.84 Baccus from Falco's Children Africa and so they're going to 00:06:51.87\00:06:55.38 be in this next video we're going to show. I just want to 00:06:55.41\00:06:57.78 give you this disclaimer. These are...this video is addressing 00:06:57.81\00:07:01.32 real-life situations, real things and so if you have any 00:07:01.35\00:07:04.59 sensitive young ears in the room you might want to just take a 00:07:04.62\00:07:09.82 moment to address that but also be blessed by the video that 00:07:09.86\00:07:13.36 we're going to show at this moment. 00:07:13.40\00:07:14.83 ¤ ¤ Ominous music. 00:07:14.86\00:07:42.82 On October the 17th of 2013 00:07:42.86\00:07:45.53 I was given a call that social welfare 00:07:45.56\00:07:47.50 was going to give us a newborn baby that had been found in a 00:07:47.53\00:07:51.73 graveyard. Moses was buried right after birth. He was placed 00:07:51.77\00:07:58.64 in a gunny sack and placed in a graveyard in a shallow grave. 00:07:58.67\00:08:02.44 He was there for about 12 hours, the estimated time. 00:08:02.48\00:08:05.48 A shepherd was walking through the graveyard where he was 00:08:05.51\00:08:09.12 buried and heard the wails coming from the ground. 00:08:09.15\00:08:13.15 but he couldn't find exactly where it was. 00:08:13.19\00:08:16.09 A lady came to help him, and the soon found it was under 00:08:16.12\00:08:20.93 the ground. When they dug him up they found him in a gunny sack 00:08:20.96\00:08:24.63 a plastic bag wrapped around him He'd been there long enough 00:08:24.67\00:08:29.27 where the sun was beginning to melt the plastic bag to his face 00:08:29.30\00:08:32.77 so the plastic bag and he had the umbilical cord and the 00:08:32.81\00:08:36.98 placenta was still on him. He was about 12 hours old. Took him 00:08:37.01\00:08:41.78 to the hospital and they cared for him, took all the sand out 00:08:41.82\00:08:46.15 of his eyes, nose. I mean, he- any longer he would not have 00:08:46.19\00:08:50.03 survived. Because he came from the ground, his name was called 00:08:50.06\00:08:56.00 Moses because he was drawn up, out of the ground. But Miracle 00:08:56.03\00:09:00.67 Moses is his name. Moses is one of many children, that's been 00:09:00.70\00:09:06.68 rescued. There's more orphans in the country of Tanzania than 00:09:06.71\00:09:11.35 the population of Houston, Texas proper by itself. There's 00:09:11.38\00:09:15.85 approximately two and a half million orphans in the country 00:09:15.88\00:09:18.39 of Tanzania. We found children given to us that had burns all 00:09:18.42\00:09:22.49 over them because they were abandoned to a stranger and the 00:09:22.52\00:09:27.03 stranger didn't want them so he threw boiling water on them. We 00:09:27.06\00:09:30.73 have children that were thrown in toilets. We have three girls 00:09:30.77\00:09:33.67 that were in the process of being sold to either be a wife 00:09:33.70\00:09:36.60 or a prostitute. And so we have many, many stories. It's hard 00:09:36.64\00:09:41.61 for many, some of them you can't understand what it's like. 00:09:41.64\00:09:45.11 We never stop crying for these children. We never...Because 00:09:45.15\00:09:50.29 someone is praying and fasting to have a baby their infertility 00:09:50.32\00:09:55.49 They are praying, and it's happened to me. I'm a good 00:09:55.52\00:09:58.83 example. I have 15 years praying for a child, even one, I have 00:09:58.86\00:10:02.30 never got it and someone is throwing them out, so... 00:10:02.33\00:10:07.44 (Children laughing and shouting) 00:10:07.47\00:10:27.66 Falco's Children Village is really an orphanage for children 00:10:27.69\00:10:30.89 that have been abused, abandoned neglected. We're in this 00:10:30.93\00:10:34.93 particular area because I wanted to go where the greatest need is 00:10:34.96\00:10:38.63 And we were told the greatest need was in the Karatu area 00:10:38.67\00:10:42.20 because it has the highest percentage of abandoned children 00:10:42.24\00:10:44.71 and we've been designated as the number one orphanage in the 00:10:44.74\00:10:48.64 country of Tanzania and the reason why is because we have 00:10:48.68\00:10:51.21 family settings. We have eight homes here and we have "Mamas" 00:10:51.25\00:10:54.52 in each one of the homes to take care of the children, just like 00:10:54.55\00:10:56.92 their own children. 00:10:56.95\00:10:58.35 We need mama here because these children will know that it is 00:10:58.39\00:11:03.39 their mother. Make sure they are fed up, make sure they went to 00:11:03.43\00:11:07.53 school, make sure they bathe. they play, to make sure their 00:11:07.56\00:11:13.30 health is doing good. We are here to try to rescue as many as 00:11:13.34\00:11:20.71 many as God allows us to, to feed them, to clothe them, to 00:11:20.74\00:11:24.81 educate them, to give them a chance, to give them hope. If 00:11:24.85\00:11:28.22 you have hope, you have enough and we want to give them the 00:11:28.25\00:11:31.89 hope of God, the hope of Christ, His love that transcends every 00:11:31.92\00:11:36.22 border, every child, 00:11:36.26\00:11:37.83 no matter how small, no matter how large. We bring this hope. 00:11:37.86\00:11:42.46 We bring this hope, not just us but for everybody who are 00:11:42.50\00:11:46.80 crusaders with us for God's cause like Child Impact to bring 00:11:46.84\00:11:50.04 hope to each child, to be a family of hope, Chris's hope to 00:11:50.07\00:11:55.48 all these children. 00:11:55.51\00:11:58.28 I'm from Kilimanjaro, and I'm a student here. I've been growing 00:11:58.31\00:12:00.88 here since I was young. I love education, the health of the 00:12:00.92\00:12:05.35 children, everything, the care they give us perfect care. Even 00:12:05.39\00:12:10.09 if other children from outside get it it's somehow different, 00:12:10.13\00:12:16.06 it feels like home. 00:12:16.10\00:12:17.43 Our number one goal is for every single one of our children to 00:12:17.47\00:12:21.14 become independent. Be a great example for the Lord and to take 00:12:21.17\00:12:26.04 care of themselves when they leave this village. We don't 00:12:26.07\00:12:28.68 want them to leave the village until we know they're 00:12:28.71\00:12:30.85 independent and they can take care of themselves. 00:12:30.88\00:12:35.38 Monica took the national exam and has been the number one 00:12:35.42\00:12:38.35 student in all of Tanzania three years in a row? 00:12:38.39\00:12:42.96 If they don't receive the love from us, how can they receive 00:12:42.99\00:12:46.36 Jesus' love? How do they know Jesus loves them if they don't 00:12:46.39\00:12:51.27 understand how much we love them because we truly do. 00:12:51.30\00:12:54.60 Miracle Moses buried alive, upon childbirth, is now eight 00:12:54.64\00:13:03.65 years old, and is a bright young boy. 00:13:03.68\00:13:08.82 ¤ ¤ 00:13:08.85\00:13:10.19 The Backus family adopted Moses and eight more children. 00:13:10.22\00:13:16.19 A member of parliament stated on public television that 00:13:16.22\00:13:19.73 Falco's Children Village is the top orphanage in Tanzania. 00:13:19.76\00:13:23.80 Child Impact is supporting Falco's Children Village with 00:13:23.83\00:13:28.70 nutritious meals and hope for over 90 vulnerable children. 00:13:28.74\00:13:34.04 ¤ ¤ 00:13:34.08\00:13:38.35 Huh, wow! It really opens your eyes to the 00:13:48.29\00:13:51.13 reality of what's happening in the world around us. Sometimes 00:13:51.16\00:13:53.83 here in the United States, we're so privileged to be able to have 00:13:53.86\00:13:58.57 the living conditions and the things that we have but when you 00:13:58.60\00:14:00.87 go out and see beyond this, just the you know that people are 00:14:00.90\00:14:04.04 going through real things and that God is raising up 00:14:04.07\00:14:08.58 ministries like Child Impact International, you know, Falco's 00:14:08.61\00:14:12.05 Children Africa to make a difference in these children's 00:14:12.08\00:14:14.52 lives and so Tom take us a little bit back there. Describe 00:14:14.55\00:14:18.05 a little bit more what we just saw in that video and how Child 00:14:18.09\00:14:21.32 Impact International is involved in that work. 00:14:21.36\00:14:24.59 I had the privilege to meet Miracle Moses, bright young boy. 00:14:24.63\00:14:28.30 It was an amazing experience. Part of what I wanted to capture 00:14:28.33\00:14:32.07 in our video, there was the laughter, the joy, that's 00:14:32.10\00:14:36.30 present. You think about these children. They've had a very 00:14:36.34\00:14:38.77 rough start in life and yet when you go there you don't sense 00:14:38.81\00:14:43.21 that. We stayed right in one of those eight homes and we heard 00:14:43.24\00:14:47.18 laughter and joy all the time. And the safety, the love, the 00:14:47.22\00:14:52.45 atmosphere creates a place of healing for these children. 00:14:52.49\00:14:55.39 So it's just powerful to see. One of the things that inspired 00:14:55.42\00:14:57.56 me the most is that Jerry actually has adopted seven 00:14:57.59\00:15:02.86 children himself and three of those are babies that were just 00:15:02.90\00:15:06.94 and he's in his 70s now. So you look at that and say wow. 00:15:06.97\00:15:10.27 They're all in. The lady that talked to the manager there, 00:15:10.31\00:15:13.17 she's adopted three children herself and so those that are 00:15:13.21\00:15:16.18 running this particular home personally just really own this 00:15:16.21\00:15:21.08 ministry as well. I was able to baptize 11 people while we were 00:15:21.12\00:15:24.39 there. They were already prepared. One of them was the 00:15:24.42\00:15:27.29 security guard. So he was a big guy to get under the water but 00:15:27.32\00:15:30.63 it was exciting and then about 10 teenagers. I think they were 00:15:30.66\00:15:34.63 all teenagers that were also baptized. 00:15:34.66\00:15:36.77 Wow! Praise the Lord! Praise the Lord. And little Miracle Moses 00:15:36.80\00:15:40.84 there, wow! I mean that's a powerful story. I think we have 00:15:40.87\00:15:44.21 even a couple of photos of Moses I think we have a couple of 00:15:44.24\00:15:48.14 photos of Moses there. Could we bring it up. There he is! Wow! 00:15:48.18\00:15:52.11 It really is. That name fits. Miracle Moses. That little man's 00:15:52.15\00:15:55.48 been through a lot. And to see that God has used this ministry 00:15:55.52\00:15:58.45 to help impact this young man's life in a powerful way. That's 00:15:58.49\00:16:04.76 amazing. So tell us Tom about how you know your personal 00:16:04.79\00:16:08.86 live aligns with the mission of Child Impact International. 00:16:08.90\00:16:12.10 Yeah, when this opportunity came along to consider for our family 00:16:12.13\00:16:17.47 the more we reflected on it the more that we realized that this 00:16:17.51\00:16:21.28 is how we've wanted and strive to live in our own lives in 00:16:21.31\00:16:25.18 terms of what we've modeled. We have just been in the process... 00:16:25.21\00:16:28.72 we've hosted some children through a program that works 00:16:28.75\00:16:33.36 with orphan children to come to the United States for summer or 00:16:33.39\00:16:36.59 Christmas. Project 143 it's called. I know some of you 00:16:36.62\00:16:39.49 may... It's not an Adventist organization but tremendous 00:16:39.53\00:16:41.96 ministry. And so we hosted two boys from an orphanage in Latvia 00:16:42.00\00:16:46.00 and we've known them since they were five and six and they're 00:16:46.03\00:16:50.14 now 13 and 14 and they're part of our family and I've said many 00:16:50.17\00:16:55.31 times that our family functions even better with them as part 00:16:55.34\00:16:58.38 of us. And I think sometimes we get so focused on ourselves and 00:16:58.41\00:17:02.82 them being part of our family we had to focus outside of 00:17:02.85\00:17:06.09 ourselves and think about their needs and what their journey's 00:17:06.12\00:17:08.52 been and how to respond to that. So this is really what Child 00:17:08.56\00:17:13.19 Impact is all about, is giving kids a chance and that's what 00:17:13.23\00:17:16.00 my wife and I want to be about in the way, we live our lives. 00:17:16.03\00:17:18.33 Well, praise the Lord. I think we even have a photo of you and 00:17:18.37\00:17:22.20 your boys here, if we can pull that up. 00:17:22.24\00:17:24.14 Yeah, I got the lineup there. My wife I think must have been 00:17:24.17\00:17:27.28 taking the picture. And I've got my Child Impact shirt on. In 00:17:27.31\00:17:31.15 fact, my boys like to help out with Child Impact. So... 00:17:31.18\00:17:33.42 Praise the Lord, praise the Lord All right. So Donna I'm coming 00:17:33.45\00:17:36.82 to you now. So how in the world did you become a part of this 00:17:36.85\00:17:40.36 incredible ministry? 00:17:40.39\00:17:42.29 You know it's so interesting because we too have four adopted 00:17:42.32\00:17:46.36 children and when it comes to adoption, it's just so powerful. 00:17:46.39\00:17:51.40 It's something that's hard to describe. It takes all of about 00:17:51.43\00:17:58.04 three or four seconds to bond forever and I know Tom that's 00:17:58.07\00:18:01.28 how it was for you too. It's just...bringing these children 00:18:01.31\00:18:04.91 in and you think you're doing something for them, but they're 00:18:04.95\00:18:07.72 actually doing something for you (Oh for Sure) You know, 00:18:07.75\00:18:10.99 and so my heart 00:18:11.02\00:18:12.72 and my passion has been with how can I make a difference in the 00:18:12.75\00:18:15.82 life of a child. But um then the other thing that just really 00:18:15.86\00:18:20.60 made a difference for my, Ryan, is just um, actually it's found 00:18:20.63\00:18:23.67 over here in Acts and you probably know the story you know 00:18:23.70\00:18:28.04 It's a young man by the name of Jason and they're bringing him 00:18:28.07\00:18:31.04 down and then he says, You know those guys turned the world 00:18:31.07\00:18:34.71 upside down. And I'm like what? You know they turned the world 00:18:34.74\00:18:39.41 upside down and they did it without a bike or a car or a 00:18:39.45\00:18:44.35 plane or the internet. (Right) And they turned the world upside 00:18:44.39\00:18:47.56 down and why would we want to do any less? And even though we may 00:18:47.59\00:18:51.66 not be able to rescue every child, the children that we do 00:18:51.69\00:18:55.50 rescue it will make all the world difference for them. And 00:18:55.53\00:18:59.77 so that's what really drew me in and I realized in order to turn 00:18:59.80\00:19:04.01 the world upside down you have to use your influence because 00:19:04.04\00:19:07.68 God puts all of us in a circle and within that circle, you know 00:19:07.71\00:19:11.15 there's people we can influence and so we just real...My 00:19:11.18\00:19:15.45 husband and I just really felt impressed that we need to be 00:19:15.48\00:19:19.29 using our circle of influence for the glory of God and to 00:19:19.32\00:19:23.69 rescue more children. 00:19:23.73\00:19:25.16 So you did something in your office I think... 00:19:25.19\00:19:27.43 We did, We did. (You're coming to that right?) I hope so. 00:19:27.46\00:19:29.73 It was so creative and it was so beautiful what you've done. 00:19:29.76\00:19:32.30 Well you know we just wanted to get the message to our patients 00:19:32.33\00:19:36.54 and so you know according to the pictures you can see where we 00:19:36.57\00:19:40.28 took canvases, canvas prints of the children that we have an 00:19:40.31\00:19:45.68 opportunity to rescue and be a part of, and we put those on the 00:19:45.71\00:19:49.18 waiting room wall, on the walls in our waiting room, in the 00:19:49.22\00:19:52.49 treatment rooms and you know we see about 30 to 40 patients a 00:19:52.52\00:19:56.29 day. 00:19:56.32\00:19:58.66 You have some pictures (of the office). We'll pull those up now 00:19:58.69\00:20:03.53 And so you know you can see on these pictures, you can see them 00:20:03.57\00:20:07.94 in the waiting room where all patients pass but also in some 00:20:07.97\00:20:12.37 of the treatment rooms. There has to be a promotion right 00:20:12.41\00:20:16.75 where they run their credit card you now when they check out at 00:20:16.78\00:20:18.95 the end of the day. Right there. (That's powerful) And so yeah it 00:20:18.98\00:20:24.19 has been really amazing and just I think all of us, all of 00:20:24.22\00:20:29.26 us can use our circle of influence and that's where my 00:20:29.29\00:20:34.76 husband and I find our greatest joy and to make it with a child 00:20:34.80\00:20:39.13 (Wow) And I'm sure, Ryan, Melissa would be happy to 00:20:39.17\00:20:43.37 provide any other professionals that would like to put something 00:20:43.41\00:20:45.81 in their waiting room or their office, whatever they need. 00:20:45.84\00:20:48.14 Absolutely, absolutely. 00:20:48.18\00:20:51.05 Absolutely that's awesome. 00:20:51.08\00:20:52.68 But you know I think people are asking and looking for ways that 00:20:52.71\00:20:56.55 they can make a difference and especially if you're in the 00:20:56.58\00:20:59.52 medical world or the dental world or any sort of health care 00:20:59.55\00:21:03.09 profession you have patients coming to you, they're trusting 00:21:03.12\00:21:06.90 you or they wouldn't be there. They come trusting you and 00:21:06.93\00:21:10.27 they're going to hear your voice So when they see like a banner 00:21:10.30\00:21:13.94 of you being an ambassador or a sponsor for Child Impact 00:21:13.97\00:21:18.54 International they want to know more about it and that's our 00:21:18.57\00:21:23.85 opportunity to speak a word that will rescue a child and bring 00:21:23.88\00:21:28.62 joy to all heaven. I'm just thrilled to be a part of this. 00:21:28.65\00:21:32.49 Absolutely, absolutely to just hear you guys talk about it I 00:21:32.52\00:21:36.09 can sense your love for this and the passion and that's what it 00:21:36.12\00:21:41.46 takes, that's what the Gospel's all about. When we have the Holy 00:21:41.50\00:21:45.47 Spirit in us and the Holy Spirit's working through us, the 00:21:45.50\00:21:47.14 Bible says in Acts chapter 1 verse 8 that the Holy Spirit 00:21:47.17\00:21:49.64 will give us power to be a witness and that means 00:21:49.67\00:21:52.47 sometimes being a witness means to step outside of the box 00:21:52.51\00:21:55.28 outside of your comfort zone and to do something like what you 00:21:55.31\00:21:58.25 guys are doing. I mean you're in other countries and you're 00:21:58.28\00:22:00.32 making impacts in these kids lives that otherwise would have 00:22:00.35\00:22:04.45 probably ended up, many of them, probably dead. And it's just 00:22:04.49\00:22:08.42 powerful to see what you guys are doing. And you mentioned Tom 00:22:08.46\00:22:10.89 that you guys are in several countries, I think you said 12. 00:22:10.93\00:22:13.40 Twelve different countries. I know the Lord has led you 00:22:13.43\00:22:15.40 recently to do a powerful work over in Europe and you guys are 00:22:15.43\00:22:19.90 in Germany and you know the Ukraine border and whatnot. 00:22:19.93\00:22:21.90 So talk about what's going on there. 00:22:21.94\00:22:24.04 Sure and Ryan you mentioned Acts 1:8, one of my favorites. Church 00:22:24.07\00:22:27.31 planting I've been involved with for a lot of years. And Acts 1:8 00:22:27.34\00:22:30.25 says that we need to be witnesses in Jerusalem, that's 00:22:30.28\00:22:32.41 where we live, in Judea, that's culturally similar and nearby 00:22:32.45\00:22:36.32 and Samaria 00:22:36.35\00:22:37.69 culturally different but nearby but to the ends of the world. 00:22:37.72\00:22:40.59 And I think every human being that's a follower of Jesus has 00:22:40.62\00:22:43.93 a mission in all four of those areas. And so our mission really 00:22:43.96\00:22:47.80 is to the ends of the world and we did travel recently to the 00:22:47.83\00:22:51.13 Ukraine border. We have partners that we established in Austria 00:22:51.17\00:22:55.80 and Germany. Why? Romania, Poland they're just overwhelmed 00:22:55.84\00:23:02.08 with the refugee crisis there and so we want it to be a little 00:23:02.11\00:23:06.28 farther away where there was a capacity to receive the 00:23:06.31\00:23:09.18 vulnerable women and children that were coming across the 00:23:09.22\00:23:11.25 border. So we established something called Project Safe 00:23:11.29\00:23:14.42 Passage and that was basically to transport women and children 00:23:14.46\00:23:17.29 that come across the border, we transport them and our partners 00:23:17.33\00:23:21.23 identify homes where they can stay. So we have close to 700 00:23:21.26\00:23:25.80 women and children now that have found homes to stay in. There's 00:23:25.83\00:23:29.37 no time limit for how long they can stay, however long they need 00:23:29.40\00:23:32.37 to and they're just in a very safe place. But I want to share 00:23:32.41\00:23:37.08 a story about one of those because it's the most exciting 00:23:37.11\00:23:39.75 one to me is about a mattress factory. I think we have some 00:23:39.78\00:23:42.68 photos (all right) but I remember talking to the CEO of 00:23:42.72\00:23:46.12 the mattress factory and it's an impressive facility, it's 00:23:46.15\00:23:48.72 incredible, it's in Austria. And he said We knew that we needed 00:23:48.76\00:23:52.73 to respond and quickly. So they basically took their showroom 00:23:52.76\00:23:57.03 and put brand new mattresses in their showroom and that became 00:23:57.07\00:24:00.37 a receiving location for the women and children as they come 00:24:00.40\00:24:03.84 in. Then they're able to move from there out to the homes. 00:24:03.87\00:24:06.21 But I just thought it was amazing that they immediately 00:24:06.24\00:24:08.98 pivoted saying we want to be involved in helping in some way. 00:24:09.01\00:24:11.25 And it's just been very impressive to see their response 00:24:11.28\00:24:14.58 Here's one of the pictures here. 00:24:14.62\00:24:15.98 Yeah, 41 mattresses there and in a couple other rooms as well. 00:24:16.02\00:24:19.09 They have a kitchen and bathroom facility. They bring in 00:24:19.12\00:24:21.59 food and supply food and it's just...they have clothing there. 00:24:21.62\00:24:25.16 It's just a holistic response. 00:24:25.19\00:24:26.53 That's amazing, wow. 00:24:26.56\00:24:28.40 You know Tom what I love about this story is that it's truly... 00:24:28.43\00:24:33.03 people starting with where they are, with what they have, doing 00:24:33.07\00:24:36.34 what they can. And I think that's how God really calls us. 00:24:36.37\00:24:39.81 Who would have thought of a mattress factory, right? 00:24:39.84\00:24:41.18 Yeah. You know that's amazing. I can 00:24:41.21\00:24:43.45 imagine that some of these people stay there for awhile 00:24:43.48\00:24:46.15 until you know another home or another opportunity opens up. 00:24:46.18\00:24:48.98 Yeah and I think Jason was just involved, I think he's involved 00:24:49.02\00:24:52.05 in getting the buses packed to take supplies. And this mattress 00:24:52.09\00:24:55.62 company did something pretty special. 00:24:55.66\00:24:56.99 Yeah, so they donated enough mattresses for 150 kids who are 00:24:57.03\00:25:02.36 staying at an Adventist camp just over the border. And so we 00:25:02.40\00:25:07.04 packed the bus full of the mattresses. We got sheets and 00:25:07.07\00:25:11.34 we got food, vegetables, vitamins all kinds of amazing 00:25:11.37\00:25:14.14 things headed over. And so they're doing things not only 00:25:14.18\00:25:16.54 locally where they are but then sending mattresses further out 00:25:16.58\00:25:20.35 to where they're most needed. 00:25:20.38\00:25:22.55 Wow, that's amazing, that's amazing. So as field director 00:25:22.58\00:25:25.09 let's talk a little bit about Jason. Let's talk about how this 00:25:25.12\00:25:29.86 Child Impact International helped partners you know become 00:25:29.89\00:25:34.86 more self-sustainable you know in their efforts. 00:25:34.90\00:25:37.57 Sure. And that's a big focus that we have a Child Impact 00:25:37.60\00:25:40.44 to really help projects so they're not just dependent on 00:25:40.47\00:25:43.61 donations come from us here in the U.S. How can we help them 00:25:43.64\00:25:46.64 generate income for their projects in the countries where 00:25:46.68\00:25:49.58 they operate. And so, a couple examples I'd like to share and 00:25:49.61\00:25:54.55 one is from Falco's, the video that we watched at the beginning 00:25:54.58\00:25:57.39 of the program. So we worked with Jerry to identify some 00:25:57.42\00:26:00.56 different industries that we could start there and one that 00:26:00.59\00:26:03.63 he came to us with he said, Hey I'd like to buy some bulls, some 00:26:03.66\00:26:08.33 cows. We've got a lot of land here. We can buy them when 00:26:08.36\00:26:10.80 they're really young, raise them on our property and then we can 00:26:10.83\00:26:14.77 sell them as they get older, bigger, in the local market. 00:26:14.80\00:26:17.47 And so we were able to do that so we funded 100 bulls for them 00:26:17.51\00:26:21.38 to purchase that they're care taking and that's able to fund 00:26:21.41\00:26:25.21 their operational costs there at the orphanage (for one month) 00:26:25.25\00:26:29.38 yeah for an entire month to provide you know wages for their 00:26:29.42\00:26:33.79 staff, food for the kids and things like that. 00:26:33.82\00:26:35.16 So it's not like you're inviting people to become partners and go 00:26:35.19\00:26:38.13 figure it out yourself. I mean you guys are helping them to 00:26:38.16\00:26:40.33 learn how to become self sustainable in that effort. 00:26:40.36\00:26:42.40 Exactly. So we walk right along side with them. Help them 00:26:42.43\00:26:45.60 identify industries. Another really cool one that we were 00:26:45.63\00:26:49.07 just on the phone with about this week a project in India 00:26:49.10\00:26:52.87 where we operate a safe house. We partner with a lady there. 00:26:52.91\00:26:56.31 Her name is Anita and she operates a safe house where we 00:26:56.34\00:27:00.12 work with the Indian government to rescue girls from brothels 00:27:00.15\00:27:03.18 who are trafficked, kids from begging rings and they come here 00:27:03.22\00:27:07.92 to the safe house and then we need some industries to be able 00:27:07.96\00:27:11.43 to teach them so that they don't go back to the streets after 00:27:11.46\00:27:14.53 they leave. So we've identified two that we're operating right 00:27:14.56\00:27:19.07 now, one is a soap making business and so we teach the 00:27:19.10\00:27:22.27 women there how to make organic soaps with essential oils and 00:27:22.30\00:27:26.51 then they're able to go out. We teach them how to market their 00:27:26.54\00:27:29.21 product to sell them there locally. And then the second one 00:27:29.24\00:27:32.68 is we've actually converted a garage at the safe house into a 00:27:32.71\00:27:37.25 commercial bakery. And so they've taught the girls how to 00:27:37.29\00:27:39.39 bake healthy foods, healthy breads and then they go out and 00:27:39.42\00:27:42.86 they sell those on the streets there in India. So really some 00:27:42.89\00:27:45.86 neat projects that are coming out of our projects around the 00:27:45.89\00:27:49.73 world. 00:27:49.76\00:27:51.10 Wow, that's amazing, that's amazing. You know you just 00:27:51.13\00:27:54.14 mentioned something brings my attention. I'm going to come to 00:27:54.17\00:27:57.21 you now Melissa if that's okay. He mentioned rescuing these 00:27:57.24\00:28:02.14 children from brothels and whatnot. I understand you guys 00:28:02.18\00:28:06.31 have a powerful rescue mission that you guys participate in and 00:28:06.35\00:28:11.65 I'm going to come back in just a few moments to talk about how 00:28:11.69\00:28:13.99 you can tell us a little bit about how these children are 00:28:14.02\00:28:16.83 put on a path of healing. Because we've been talking about 00:28:16.86\00:28:19.86 kids that are coming from orphans, they've been abused or 00:28:19.89\00:28:22.60 they're coming out these horrible situations, you know, 00:28:22.63\00:28:25.43 human trafficking situations. But talk about this rescue 00:28:25.47\00:28:29.04 program that you guys have because this is powerful. 00:28:29.07\00:28:32.87 Yes so Operation Child Rescue is our program that seeks to 00:28:32.91\00:28:37.25 eradicate child exploitation. Human trafficking is a big part 00:28:37.28\00:28:41.08 of that. Most experts are estimating that there are 40 00:28:41.12\00:28:44.59 million people that are trapped in trafficking right now. Even 00:28:44.62\00:28:49.52 more discouraging the United Nations says that only one out 00:28:49.56\00:28:52.19 of a hundred is ever rescued and we want to be a part of that 00:28:52.23\00:28:55.23 solution. We are empowering front lines organizations to do 00:28:55.26\00:28:59.50 powerful work in that area. I think maybe even better than me 00:28:59.53\00:29:03.14 explaining to you the project I'd love to share this video. 00:29:03.17\00:29:06.91 It really kind of captures what we're doing to mitigate human 00:29:06.94\00:29:10.45 trafficking globally. 00:29:10.48\00:29:11.81 All right, so let's go to that video right now. 00:29:11.85\00:29:13.88 Chirundu, Zambia 00:29:13.92\00:29:22.39 Girls as young as 12 find themselves caught in 00:29:22.42\00:29:24.13 prostitution as a way to provide for their families. 00:29:24.16\00:29:28.96 I used to go at school in the morning, then knock off at 12 00:29:29.00\00:29:32.43 then go for prep from 2 PM to 4 PM. Then at 5 I go and sell. 00:29:32.47\00:29:40.14 Yeah after 5 to 7, we go out at night. They've got no choice. 00:29:40.18\00:29:47.55 They can't be watching their kid sisters and brothers starving. 00:29:47.58\00:29:51.69 They have to go there. They've got no choice to say, If I say 00:29:51.72\00:29:55.56 at home, my kid sister won't eat anything. 00:29:55.59\00:29:59.13 Chirundu is a small town that borders Zimbabwe, about one hour 00:29:59.16\00:30:03.50 from Riverside. And one characteristic that makes this 00:30:03.53\00:30:05.17 town unique is the amount of traffic with large truckers 00:30:05.20\00:30:10.41 that drive-through for import and export. As we began to 00:30:10.44\00:30:17.88 explore this area we recognized a very vulnerable population in 00:30:17.91\00:30:21.35 these communities. The vulnerable group that we 00:30:21.38\00:30:24.49 discovered was teenage girls. Often, the responsibility and 00:30:24.52\00:30:28.79 the burden to take care of their elderly grandparents or their 00:30:28.82\00:30:31.53 younger siblings rests upon these ladies at a very young age 00:30:31.56\00:30:34.90 Because basic needs are barely met education is not a priority 00:30:34.93\00:30:42.74 and these girls have some very difficult decisions to make. 00:30:42.77\00:30:45.44 I'm not feeling so good to watch my young siblings not to eat 00:30:45.47\00:30:51.48 because of not having enough money, you know? So I'm like, 00:30:51.51\00:30:56.08 can I be a sacrifice? Something like that. 00:30:56.12\00:30:59.19 Now you have trucks coming in and out of the town. And you 00:30:59.22\00:31:06.70 know how sometimes these truck drivers, in the process of 00:31:06.73\00:31:09.73 trying to relax, they approach girls, you know, to do certain 00:31:09.76\00:31:14.54 things for them, and that girl will say like, okay, fine. Let 00:31:14.57\00:31:18.11 me give in because I feel like they're going to give me what 00:31:18.14\00:31:20.54 I'm looking for. The moment I get what I'm looking for, I'll 00:31:20.58\00:31:23.28 be able to help out at home. 00:31:23.31\00:31:27.82 They go sell to the truck drivers Later on, they go into 00:31:27.85\00:31:31.52 their trucks, do something else. They give them money, they 00:31:31.55\00:31:34.82 survive. Some of the girls that are taken are not even that age. 00:31:34.86\00:31:40.20 Some of them are 12, 13, 14. 00:31:40.23\00:31:45.30 By providing an education for these girls, we hope to 00:31:45.33\00:31:48.00 intersect before they get to that high-risk age and be able 00:31:48.04\00:31:51.37 to provide them a different hope and a different future. 00:31:51.41\00:31:57.35 I look at education to be a very important tool because it 00:31:57.38\00:32:02.85 makes a lot of people be aware of certain things. You know how 00:32:02.88\00:32:06.15 being educated, or rather just having an exposure of education 00:32:06.19\00:32:10.43 just alerts your mind. You know, like, you just become alert of 00:32:10.46\00:32:15.56 some things and because you know that you're acquiring a certain 00:32:15.60\00:32:19.80 skill, it exposes you to a lot of things. Imagine how you have 00:32:19.83\00:32:24.34 an education and you've probably come across of different things 00:32:24.37\00:32:30.15 the dangers of giving yourself to you know big men and 00:32:30.18\00:32:35.02 everything like trust me you wouldn't really fall for it 00:32:35.05\00:32:37.92 because you've already had an exposure, you've learned about 00:32:37.95\00:32:41.69 such things. Someone has taught you the dangers of such things. 00:32:41.72\00:32:44.83 So really, an education in this case can really be helpful. 00:32:44.86\00:32:49.16 It's really helpful to say... it's really helpful to young 00:32:49.20\00:32:52.63 women, young girls especially. 00:32:52.67\00:32:55.90 Education is important 'cause look at me. It has helped me to 00:32:55.94\00:32:59.24 become strong. Through that, I learned because I put food on 00:32:59.27\00:33:03.85 my table. I paid fees through the bottles that I used to sell- 00:33:03.88\00:33:08.28 the water. So if any of these girls would do that because 00:33:08.32\00:33:13.36 they've been given an opportunity. What I would say to 00:33:13.39\00:33:17.36 them is that they can just use it wisely because it only comes 00:33:17.39\00:33:20.50 once. So imagine how a girl child gets an education, they go 00:33:20.53\00:33:24.43 back to their community and be an example to other children 00:33:24.47\00:33:29.30 out there, be an example to their young ones. They become 00:33:29.34\00:33:32.51 leaders. You know, they try by all means, you know, to make 00:33:32.54\00:33:36.75 those young ones not to go back to the truck driver situation. 00:33:36.78\00:33:41.68 Our dreams for these girls is to be able to see their goals and 00:33:41.72\00:33:45.25 dreams being fulfilled. Whether it's to be a faithful mother 00:33:45.29\00:33:47.96 taking care of their own children someday or to become a 00:33:47.99\00:33:50.73 doctor. We want to give them that opportunity. 00:33:50.76\00:33:55.50 ¤ ¤ 00:33:55.53\00:34:00.44 We are so thankful to be able to partner with Child Impact so 00:34:00.47\00:34:03.71 that children and communities all around us can have lives 00:34:03.74\00:34:07.21 that are mentally, physically and spiritually fulfilling. This 00:34:07.24\00:34:10.65 is our passion and this is what drives our mission. 00:34:10.68\00:34:14.42 It's no longer putting food on their tables and survival. 00:34:14.45\00:34:19.42 They're becoming more strong women. Now they can focus on 00:34:19.45\00:34:24.03 achieving their dreams. 00:34:24.06\00:34:25.69 ¤ ¤ 00:34:25.73\00:34:43.58 Mmm. Wow. Chuckles. So Operation Child Rescue, just kind of give 00:34:43.61\00:34:49.58 us a summary of what we just saw in that video there and how 00:34:49.62\00:34:52.92 Child Impact International is involved in this work. 00:34:52.95\00:34:56.19 Yeah, I mean the work that we're doing, this is why I joined the 00:34:56.22\00:35:00.10 team at Child Impact. I watched this video in our office and I 00:35:00.13\00:35:03.43 wept. I have four brothers and four sisters and I'm thinking if 00:35:03.47\00:35:07.97 I was at Chirundu, like that could have been me and anyway 00:35:08.00\00:35:12.61 Well absolutely. It's, I mean, it's hard. I'm watching these 00:35:12.64\00:35:17.91 videos and I'm seeing these photos and I mean on one hand 00:35:17.95\00:35:20.38 you're praising God because of what you guys are doing. You're 00:35:20.42\00:35:22.98 making such a great impact in the lives of these kids. But I 00:35:23.02\00:35:25.75 think about, you know, all of those kids that are not as 00:35:25.79\00:35:28.66 fortunate. You know, we live in a world unfortunately has the 00:35:28.69\00:35:33.76 realities that we have to face of death and pain and sorrow and 00:35:33.80\00:35:37.47 all that these children are having to go through but yet 00:35:37.50\00:35:39.83 it's just another sign that Jesus is coming soon and He's 00:35:39.87\00:35:42.64 going to come back and make all things new. And you know Melissa 00:35:42.67\00:35:47.18 I just wanted to come back to you just for a moment here. You 00:35:47.21\00:35:50.35 know, you see these children, whether it's them coming out of 00:35:50.38\00:35:53.98 abuse or you know the orphans or the dealing with situations like 00:35:54.02\00:35:56.72 this right here, you know, how do you bring about healing in 00:35:56.75\00:36:01.19 life of a child who's gone through this, you know. So talk 00:36:01.22\00:36:04.99 a little bit about that. 00:36:05.03\00:36:06.36 Yeah. I think we're really grateful to partner with 00:36:06.39\00:36:07.86 organizations that believe in caring for these children 00:36:07.90\00:36:10.73 holistically. It's not enough to just take them out of those 00:36:10.77\00:36:14.47 situations and just give them safe housing like that's very 00:36:14.50\00:36:17.21 important. That's the first step But they really care about these 00:36:17.24\00:36:21.14 kids, they love these kids. I mean, you heard Jerry say it. 00:36:21.18\00:36:23.24 They love these kids and they're going to show that love every 00:36:23.28\00:36:26.75 day. So it's really providing that safe place where people can 00:36:26.78\00:36:30.49 begin to build trust again. Those are the first building 00:36:30.52\00:36:34.62 blocks into the healing process. 00:36:34.66\00:36:36.36 Amen, amen. And Donna I know that you, you have seen first 00:36:36.39\00:36:41.60 hand the powerful spiritual impact that Child Impact has had 00:36:41.63\00:36:45.87 on these children's lives. Maybe you can tell us a little bit 00:36:45.90\00:36:47.94 about how is Child Impact International making a dynamic 00:36:47.97\00:36:52.91 impact spiritually on these individuals, these children that 00:36:52.94\00:36:55.74 are coming into the program that are being rescued. They're 00:36:55.78\00:36:58.51 you know brought in under this program? 00:36:58.55\00:37:01.35 Well you know we are all very familiar with the evil voices 00:37:01.38\00:37:06.32 that go on that move into evil situations. And yes Melissa it 00:37:06.35\00:37:14.63 is important for us to take those first steps and make sure 00:37:14.66\00:37:17.17 that they have food and water and shelter and they're safe. 00:37:17.20\00:37:22.07 Above and beyond that what's really important to us is we're 00:37:22.10\00:37:26.71 looking at the eternal effect for each child. And that means 00:37:26.74\00:37:30.71 somewhere, someone has to help change their identity from what 00:37:30.75\00:37:37.39 they think they are born for to be a sacrifice so they can take 00:37:37.42\00:37:41.66 food home to their family. That's not what they were born 00:37:41.69\00:37:44.83 for. They were born and created, created by God to have the image 00:37:44.86\00:37:51.67 of Him. And so what we're really into is taking care of the 00:37:51.70\00:37:56.87 physical needs but going the extra mile and really helping 00:37:56.91\00:38:01.34 them find their newest, their truest, their best identity. 00:38:01.38\00:38:06.11 And it's only at that moment I think that we can say yes this 00:38:06.15\00:38:12.39 isn't just a humanitarian effort which is very important. This is 00:38:12.42\00:38:17.76 this is an effort that's really counting for eternity for each 00:38:17.79\00:38:21.90 child that we have the opportunity to rescue and I just 00:38:21.93\00:38:27.50 love it, Tom, when you talk to us about the baby drop off and 00:38:27.54\00:38:31.74 what that means that's... 00:38:31.77\00:38:36.14 Yeah we encountered something I never heard of before, a baby 00:38:36.18\00:38:39.85 drop. This is Tanzania and the program that we're partnershiped 00:38:39.88\00:38:45.29 is called Cradle of Love. And the founder of that organization 00:38:45.32\00:38:49.96 happens to be living now in Chattanooga area near where 00:38:49.99\00:38:55.03 we're at and I met her at church before I went to Africa and saw 00:38:55.06\00:38:59.33 the projects there and discovered that two of her 00:38:59.37\00:39:03.34 daughters who go to school with my boys, one was adopted right 00:39:03.37\00:39:07.01 before she would have gone into the baby drop program and the 00:39:07.04\00:39:11.28 other one lived the first three years of her life in that 00:39:11.31\00:39:14.22 program. And so basically for three years they look after 00:39:14.25\00:39:19.22 children as they identify homes that can take them permanently. 00:39:19.25\00:39:22.16 But they keep them for three years because they want to make 00:39:22.19\00:39:25.16 sure they have proper nutrition. So we're exploring the 00:39:25.19\00:39:29.40 possibility of opening up another baby drop perhaps near 00:39:29.43\00:39:32.77 where Falco's is at. We've discussed that but it's 00:39:32.80\00:39:36.30 incredible to think that a whole life can be changed by 00:39:36.34\00:39:41.98 intervention in this way. Yeah, you know my boys go to school. 00:39:42.01\00:39:45.55 They're friends with these girls that would have been part and 00:39:45.58\00:39:48.88 one that was part of that program. 00:39:48.92\00:39:50.25 Well I'm sure the name kind of says it all but as I'm hearing 00:39:50.29\00:39:52.75 you say baby drop I'm guessing these are legitimate infants or 00:39:52.79\00:39:56.83 young children that is it the parents, or the family, or the 00:39:56.86\00:40:00.73 government or someone who that's... 00:40:00.76\00:40:03.26 The mother gives birth. They have something where they put 00:40:03.30\00:40:05.00 the baby in this depository and they slide the baby across and 00:40:05.03\00:40:09.14 it's monitored 24 hours a day and somebody on the other side 00:40:09.17\00:40:12.47 receives the baby and takes care of them. No questions asked. 00:40:12.51\00:40:15.28 And then somewhere down the line in the process, they're brought 00:40:15.31\00:40:17.98 to you guys. 00:40:18.01\00:40:19.35 To the part where we work on...Yeah in Tanzania. 00:40:19.38\00:40:22.68 Wow, that's amazing man. Praise God for that. Uh Jason as field 00:40:22.72\00:40:32.03 director, I mean you guys are doing so much already but I mean 00:40:32.06\00:40:34.90 I'm sure the Lord has so much more that He wants you guys to 00:40:34.93\00:40:37.50 do that He's going to be opening doors. So what are some of the 00:40:37.53\00:40:39.83 what are some more opportunities that you guys are looking to 00:40:39.87\00:40:43.81 address here in the next, in the near future? 00:40:43.84\00:40:46.14 Sure. You know we're really excited about this project that 00:40:46.17\00:40:48.41 we're talking about, Operation Child Rescue. So last year we 00:40:48.44\00:40:51.71 were in one country, we were in India and in the last year we're 00:40:51.75\00:40:55.08 now in seven countries and looking to continue to expand 00:40:55.12\00:40:58.32 our reach in 00:40:58.35\00:40:59.69 that area of human trafficking, orphan rescue, baby rescue. 00:40:59.72\00:41:04.39 So really continuing to go with that program. And then another 00:41:04.43\00:41:06.63 really exciting thing that we're working on right now is we're 00:41:06.66\00:41:09.43 opening up child sponsorship in the Philippines. So we hope to 00:41:09.46\00:41:14.10 have that open by the end of this year and so right now we're 00:41:14.14\00:41:16.84 working with the church and we have partners on the ground 00:41:16.87\00:41:19.91 there and soon we'll be rolling that program out to help kids 00:41:19.94\00:41:26.05 who otherwise would not have the opportunity to attend an 00:41:26.08\00:41:28.85 Adventist school in poor communities. We'll be getting 00:41:28.88\00:41:31.59 the sponsors here in the U.S. and able to provide the 00:41:31.62\00:41:35.79 opportunity for them to attend Adventist schools in the 00:41:35.82\00:41:38.76 Philippines. So we're really excited about rolling that out. 00:41:38.79\00:41:40.36 That's amazing. And we may talk about this maybe a little bit 00:41:40.40\00:41:43.37 more during the next few minutes but you know maybe just talk a 00:41:43.40\00:41:46.00 little bit about how does someone become involved in a 00:41:46.03\00:41:48.17 sponsorship situation where they can...maybe there's someone 00:41:48.20\00:41:51.14 watching right now that says I want to sponsor. How does that 00:41:51.17\00:41:53.14 work? 00:41:53.17\00:41:54.84 Sure. So what we do is we have partners on the ground in each 00:41:54.88\00:41:59.08 country at schools that we've identified and so we'll send 00:41:59.11\00:42:01.32 someone there and they'll conduct interviews in the 00:42:01.35\00:42:05.05 community to find kids who are truly needy, who would not have 00:42:05.09\00:42:07.99 any other way to attend an Adventist school. And then we 00:42:08.02\00:42:10.89 will take a picture of them, we'll get some background 00:42:10.93\00:42:13.86 information on them, their family, some fun facts about 00:42:13.90\00:42:17.00 them, you know, what do they want to be when they grow up? 00:42:17.03\00:42:19.83 What are their favorite sports or activities to do and then 00:42:19.87\00:42:23.07 we'll build a profile around that student and put them on our 00:42:23.10\00:42:26.24 website. And so someone can go to our website, Child Impact, 00:42:26.27\00:42:29.04 and they can select a child that they'd like to sponsor and they 00:42:29.08\00:42:33.42 [ChildImpact.org] can follow that child throughout their 00:42:33.45\00:42:36.12 whole academic career. And so we try to put children in the 00:42:36.15\00:42:39.82 program who are younger so we can sponsor them all the way 00:42:39.85\00:42:42.96 through high school. We have some opportunities even to 00:42:42.99\00:42:45.19 sponsor them going to nursing school and college. And it's 00:42:45.23\00:42:49.33 really fun because you get to stay in touch with that child. 00:42:49.36\00:42:52.10 You can write them letters, they'll write you letters back 00:42:52.13\00:42:54.77 you can send pictures of your family to them. They'll send 00:42:54.80\00:42:58.34 pictures that they've drawn. We update their profile every year 00:42:58.37\00:43:01.51 with new pictures so you can see really the growth of the 00:43:01.54\00:43:04.61 child and so it's a really neat program and I'd encourage 00:43:04.65\00:43:07.92 everyone to get involved. My wife and I have sponsored a 00:43:07.95\00:43:10.85 child at the orphanage in India for about five years now. And so 00:43:10.89\00:43:15.06 we really enjoy getting the letters and the pictures from 00:43:15.09\00:43:17.19 him every year. [ChildImpact.org] 00:43:17.23\00:43:18.56 And Ryan I would say one of the things I love about our team at 00:43:18.59\00:43:21.33 Child Impact is we're all in. You know Jason just shared he's 00:43:21.36\00:43:25.77 been a sponsor even before he joined the team. I came on board 00:43:25.80\00:43:28.80 and began sponsoring. One of the ladies on the team as I was 00:43:28.84\00:43:32.81 interviewing she opened up the computer and said these are my 00:43:32.84\00:43:36.18 kids. And so I just love that you know we're a part of it but 00:43:36.21\00:43:39.78 we know this is the real deal and we want to also be involved. 00:43:39.81\00:43:42.68 You know Ryan also I've come to realize that people don't know 00:43:42.72\00:43:47.62 what they don't know. And when people understand that there is 00:43:47.66\00:43:52.43 a need...I have quite a few non Adventist friends and just 00:43:52.46\00:43:56.77 sharing with them we picked up nine sponsors several months ago 00:43:56.80\00:44:01.44 as I was just sharing with them the need. And when people 00:44:01.47\00:44:05.74 realize the need they want to do something about it. And I 00:44:05.77\00:44:09.94 believe that is God and the Holy Spirit working on hearts to just 00:44:09.98\00:44:14.48 rescue those who don't have a voice, those who are truly 00:44:14.52\00:44:20.62 suffering and that's what I love about Child Impact. 00:44:20.66\00:44:25.66 And I just want to add, you know we heard it in the video but she 00:44:25.69\00:44:30.40 said, you know investing in this one girl, she's going to go back 00:44:30.43\00:44:33.44 home and transform her local community and prevent other kids 00:44:33.47\00:44:37.74 So investing in one child has a much bigger impact than even 00:44:37.77\00:44:40.48 that one child. So, just want to encourage everyone to be a part 00:44:40.51\00:44:45.01 of this... 00:44:45.05\00:44:46.38 Yeah, absolutely. That's powerful, powerful what you guys 00:44:46.41\00:44:47.75 are doing. I know this is kind of your first time under the 00:44:47.78\00:44:51.82 umbrella of Child Impact International, coming here on 00:44:51.85\00:44:54.92 the set and doing this interview but I know that Child Impact 00:44:54.96\00:44:58.23 International/3ABN has a history Maybe talk a little bit about 00:44:58.26\00:45:02.40 you know what you're aware of as far as 3ABN and Child Impact 00:45:02.43\00:45:05.83 history there, how they've worked together. 00:45:05.87\00:45:08.80 Sure, I think 3ABN helps to tell the story and has been doing 00:45:08.84\00:45:14.08 that for some time. Every weekend we have two programs 00:45:14.11\00:45:17.31 that's a repeat, Friday evening and Saturday afternoon and it's 00:45:17.35\00:45:21.95 just an opportunity for us to share from the different 00:45:21.98\00:45:24.85 projects we're involved in. For example we've had so far this 00:45:24.89\00:45:29.32 year, so we're four months into the year at the time of this 00:45:29.36\00:45:32.39 recording, we've had 285 children sponsored. I would love 00:45:32.43\00:45:36.97 to see us get to the point where we're sponsoring a thousand 00:45:37.00\00:45:39.57 new children in our program every single year and that's a 00:45:39.60\00:45:43.30 goal that we have. We'd love to do even more than that but 00:45:43.34\00:45:46.17 that's an initial step that we want to see happen. But 00:45:46.21\00:45:49.21 certainly the viewers of 3ABN and the platform that we've had 00:45:49.24\00:45:54.38 here have enabled us to grow and to expand our influence and 00:45:54.42\00:45:58.95 impact globally. So that's been a real blessing. By the way, I 00:45:58.99\00:46:02.72 want to share...I found out that we have many sponsors who have 00:46:02.76\00:46:07.20 like 10 children. You know when my wife and I got married, 00:46:07.23\00:46:09.70 before we got married she told me she wanted to have 10 kids. 00:46:09.73\00:46:12.97 And I didn't believe her. But if that's been someone's dream, you 00:46:13.00\00:46:17.47 know, if that's your dream and you're watching today we'd 00:46:17.51\00:46:21.14 invite you to expand your family so you don't have to stop at one 00:46:21.18\00:46:23.91 you can have 10. 00:46:23.95\00:46:25.28 That's right, that's right, amen amen. You know I'd love as we're 00:46:25.31\00:46:28.88 doing this interview and as you're telling me the stories 00:46:28.92\00:46:31.55 and seeing the videos you know my mind's going back to Matthew 00:46:31.59\00:46:34.82 25. You know Jesus is right there in His last week, I mean 00:46:34.86\00:46:39.03 he's literally like a week out from being crucified and He's 00:46:39.06\00:46:41.23 giving that famous Olivet discourse but then he goes on 00:46:41.26\00:46:43.63 to talk about you know how many will say to me in that day you 00:46:43.67\00:46:48.80 know, Lord how did we feed you? How did we clothe you? How did 00:46:48.84\00:46:53.34 we visit you. You know Jesus was talking about when you feed 00:46:53.38\00:46:55.54 someone, when you take care of them and you're there for them, 00:46:55.58\00:46:58.61 you're there for me, you're doing this to me. And so that's 00:46:58.65\00:47:01.48 exactly what I see is happening here. You know, we're not 00:47:01.52\00:47:03.79 just ministering just to children but you're doing it to 00:47:03.82\00:47:06.89 the Lord. When you provide those funds, when you provide your 00:47:06.92\00:47:10.13 resources, when you're praying, when you're supporting 00:47:10.16\00:47:12.93 ministries like Child Impact International, my friends we're 00:47:12.96\00:47:16.16 not only changing lives but we're also impacting for 00:47:16.20\00:47:18.50 eternity and you're doing it to God. He takes record of that. He 00:47:18.53\00:47:23.17 knows when you've done this. When you've given that person 00:47:23.20\00:47:25.67 a drink, when you've fed them food, when you've put clothes on 00:47:25.71\00:47:28.24 their back, when you've provided shelter for them and in this 00:47:28.28\00:47:32.01 case when you've pulled them out of that horrible situation, 00:47:32.05\00:47:34.15 you've done that to me as if we're doing that for the Lord. 00:47:34.18\00:47:37.39 And it's just, it's powerful. And so I just have to ask just 00:47:37.42\00:47:41.02 kind of in summary here, Tom, there may be someone watching 00:47:41.06\00:47:43.86 right now who says hey you know I want to help, I want to get 00:47:43.89\00:47:47.60 involved in what Child Impact International is doing, maybe 00:47:47.63\00:47:50.37 just kind of give us a summary, an overview, really quickly, 00:47:50.40\00:47:53.10 if there might be somebody that's tuned right at this 00:47:53.13\00:47:55.44 moment and they're interested in helping. So how can our 00:47:55.47\00:47:59.77 viewers or anyone for that matter get involved in what 00:47:59.81\00:48:02.64 Child Impact International is doing? 00:48:02.68\00:48:04.75 One of the commitments that we've made is that we want to 00:48:04.78\00:48:08.98 own July 30. (Okay) Why July 30? July 30 is the world day against 00:48:09.02\00:48:14.32 human trafficking. It's recognized globally, it comes up 00:48:14.36\00:48:17.36 every single year. Every year has a July 30. This year it 00:48:17.39\00:48:21.53 happens to fall on a Saturday for 2022, but it's going to 00:48:21.56\00:48:27.17 repeat again the next year. And what we want to do is raise the 00:48:27.20\00:48:31.17 attention to this tremendous crisis that is global in nature 00:48:31.21\00:48:36.31 and unfortunately the United States funds a lot of it (Right) 00:48:36.34\00:48:40.55 And as Melissa was sharing it's hard to even counteract it. You 00:48:40.58\00:48:44.12 know one in one hundred never gets out that gets in (Wow) So 00:48:44.15\00:48:47.26 we want to work preventatively but as I think about what 00:48:47.29\00:48:50.49 viewers can do to support, if you enjoyed the videos that you 00:48:50.53\00:48:54.30 saw during this program, we're going to provide videos of that 00:48:54.33\00:48:57.27 quality and we would like to provide churches with an option: 00:48:57.30\00:48:59.93 An eight-minute video that takes place of the children's story 00:48:59.97\00:49:04.01 for that particular day because you're helping kids or a 00:49:04.04\00:49:08.94 23-minute video that replaces the sermon. So this is on July 00:49:08.98\00:49:12.45 30 and in following obviously years the closest date 00:49:12.48\00:49:15.48 to July 30 would 00:49:15.52\00:49:16.85 be the time to do that. But we also provide a magazine that 00:49:16.89\00:49:21.26 will provide the latest statistics on human trafficking 00:49:21.29\00:49:24.26 and share the stories of some of the projects that we're 00:49:24.29\00:49:27.03 involved in. But I would love if viewers that are watching are 00:49:27.06\00:49:31.03 involved at the church where they could use their influence 00:49:31.07\00:49:33.77 like Donna was sharing and say look I think we should show this 00:49:33.80\00:49:37.01 video. Maybe it's the eight minute video that makes it the 00:49:37.04\00:49:39.04 first time around but the next year we want to do the 23 minute 00:49:39.07\00:49:42.04 we want to do the full version. So that's a very practical way 00:49:42.08\00:49:45.21 that individuals can help. Also of course with sponsorship we 00:49:45.25\00:49:48.62 have about 400-500 children at any time that are waiting for 00:49:48.65\00:49:52.62 sponsors. So that's very simple to go to our website and just 00:49:52.65\00:49:56.26 sign up for sponsoring a child. And so, like I said, my wife and 00:49:56.29\00:49:59.46 I have a couple children we're sponsoring but we know people, 00:49:59.49\00:50:02.56 I think the biggest family is 33 children that somebody sponsored 00:50:02.60\00:50:05.80 [ChildImpact.org] So if somebody wants to break the record now's 00:50:05.83\00:50:08.50 your chance. But we do have like I said 400-500 that are waiting 00:50:08.54\00:50:12.87 and that enables us to bring new children into the program 00:50:12.91\00:50:16.58 as we move forward. 00:50:16.61\00:50:19.75 Amen, praise the Lord, praise the Lord. Jason, you got any 00:50:19.78\00:50:22.48 final thoughts before we go to our break? We got a break in 00:50:22.52\00:50:24.59 just a moment. We got about a minute and 20. You got anything 00:50:24.62\00:50:26.62 on your heart, you want to share brother? 00:50:26.65\00:50:28.16 You know I'm just so excited about the direction that we're 00:50:28.19\00:50:30.39 moving in in this work of preventing and helping those who 00:50:30.43\00:50:35.60 are caught up in trafficking, in vulnerable situations and so 00:50:35.63\00:50:39.27 I can't wait to see how the Lord continues to lead us in that 00:50:39.30\00:50:44.31 field. Donna, I think you had something you wanted to add 00:50:44.34\00:50:46.98 as well. 00:50:47.01\00:50:48.41 I do. I have something that's really, really critical right 00:50:48.44\00:50:52.68 now for us is we are striving to build a dormitory that would 00:50:52.71\00:50:57.49 house a hundred girls and this is an opportunity that we're 00:50:57.52\00:51:03.53 really calling upon people, anyone within the hearing 00:51:03.56\00:51:07.86 distance of this plea, we're raising $200,000 and in some 00:51:07.90\00:51:13.84 circles that may be a lot and in other circles it's a very small 00:51:13.87\00:51:16.87 amount and I just believe that the people of God, the people of 00:51:16.91\00:51:20.24 God who are longing to make a difference in this world are 00:51:20.28\00:51:24.41 those who stand up and say yes I can give here, I can give here 00:51:24.45\00:51:27.72 I can do something even if it doesn't mean getting on a plane 00:51:27.75\00:51:30.85 and flying to a different country, I can do something in 00:51:30.89\00:51:33.32 this country. And so $200,000 is our goal and hey, Ryan, if we 00:51:33.36\00:51:40.26 can possibly bring that together in the next couple of months 00:51:40.30\00:51:43.87 we could start building that dorm and be ready when the new 00:51:43.90\00:51:47.67 school year begins. And so it's urgent. 00:51:47.70\00:51:50.71 Amen, amen, all right. You've heard it. It's urgent my friends 00:51:50.74\00:51:54.18 know you're probably excited I know I'm excited.
