My name is 00:01:08.00\00:01:10.07 John Lomacang. I have my wife with me. (Angela) Hi, I'm so 00:01:10.10\00:01:13.74 excited about today's program. I'm happy to be here and I'm so 00:01:13.77\00:01:17.14 glad that you have tuned in today. 00:01:17.17\00:01:19.67 Now we're talking about ASI. Some of you may know what that 00:01:19.71\00:01:23.24 acronym means but it's Adventist Laymen's Services and Industries 00:01:23.28\00:01:27.98 And if you don't know what that is I recommend you stay tuned to 00:01:28.02\00:01:30.62 the program (Oh yeah) because the gospel can be shared in many 00:01:30.65\00:01:33.69 creative ways and that's what this ministry is all about. 00:01:33.72\00:01:36.79 A culmination and a coalition of ministries that span the 00:01:36.83\00:01:42.76 entire world sharing Jesus Christ in the market place in 00:01:42.80\00:01:46.20 very creative ways. So do stay tuned. Matter of fact, I 00:01:46.23\00:01:49.44 recommend you hit record because you might say if only I recorded 00:01:49.47\00:01:53.24 that to share that with someone else. But before we go any 00:01:53.27\00:01:56.08 further, thank you for your prayers and all your support of 00:01:56.11\00:01:59.15 3ABN as we continue going and growing getting ready for the 00:01:59.18\00:02:01.92 coming of the Lord. Now what's so nice about this program today 00:02:01.95\00:02:05.72 is, honey, we're not going to do music because there's so much 00:02:05.75\00:02:07.72 to cover (a lot). We're going to go ahead (videos, pictures) 00:02:07.76\00:02:11.16 right away and it's going to be very informative and if you have 00:02:11.19\00:02:13.83 a television if you're listening on radio well you'll get as much 00:02:13.86\00:02:19.93 as we can give you but if you're watching the program you'll 00:02:19.97\00:02:22.40 really enjoy what we have to show you today. Well Honey, what 00:02:22.44\00:02:25.14 about our guests today? 00:02:25.17\00:02:26.51 We have three guests with us today-Dr. Andi, she's the ASI 00:02:26.54\00:02:31.91 president, Dr. Andi Hunsaker Did I say it right? No? 00:02:31.95\00:02:44.33 Thank you so much. We're so thrilled to be here today. 00:02:44.36\00:02:47.03 We've been looking forward to it. So we're excited. 00:02:47.46\00:02:50.87 Amen. And next to you, Curtis, you have to say your last name. 00:02:50.90\00:02:54.17 Letniak. 00:02:54.20\00:02:56.50 Thank you. He's the ASI General Vice President. Now where do you 00:02:56.54\00:02:59.44 where do you all live? Where do you live? 00:02:59.47\00:03:00.88 I'm from Massachusetts. We say we're from Boston. We work in 00:03:00.91\00:03:04.71 Boston but we live in the suburbs. We're from Boston 00:03:04.75\00:03:08.32 basically. We've been there for about 27 years I think, yes 28 00:03:08.35\00:03:14.39 years. 00:03:14.42\00:03:16.32 It is endurance, the patience of the saints. 00:03:16.36\00:03:21.33 And Curtis, welcome. (Thank you) Glad to have you here. 00:03:21.36\00:03:23.90 Where do you live? 00:03:23.93\00:03:25.27 Just a little north of here. Alberta, Canada. 00:03:25.30\00:03:26.63 A little north! The warmer part of the North American Continent. 00:03:26.67\00:03:31.54 And a very familiar face, Rodney Bowes. Welcome. 00:03:31.57\00:03:36.68 You are the Vice President for Evangelism. 00:03:36.71\00:03:40.82 Yes, it's good to be back. Thank you for having us here. 00:03:40.85\00:03:44.89 We're enjoying it. 00:03:44.92\00:03:47.42 Well every time I see you I know there's a lot we're going to be 00:03:47.46\00:03:50.83 covering today. So I'm just going to dive right in. 00:03:50.86\00:03:52.23 How and why did you 00:03:52.26\00:03:53.60 become involved in ASI? I'll Just start with Rodney. 00:03:54.76\00:03:57.87 Sure no problem. So for me it was a very interesting way. 00:03:57.90\00:04:02.07 I was pastoring in Arkansas actually. And after some time 00:04:02.10\00:04:06.64 the Lord worked on our hearts, my wife and I, said we've got to 00:04:06.68\00:04:09.78 get involved in mission service. So we actually went to Wildwood 00:04:09.81\00:04:14.05 which is a long-time ASI member. We were introduced to ASI. We 00:04:14.08\00:04:19.29 actually started Light Ministry. I'm the president of Light and 00:04:19.32\00:04:23.06 we started that back in 2008. So that's when I really got 00:04:23.09\00:04:28.06 involved with ASI. 00:04:28.10\00:04:30.87 (Wow nice.) Instead of going to Curtis, right away I remember I 00:04:30.90\00:04:34.27 was at ASI when you were announced to be the new 00:04:34.30\00:04:37.04 president of ASI. And I thought such a little lady with such 00:04:37.07\00:04:39.97 great responsibilities. (We are) Good to have you here Andi. 00:04:40.01\00:04:42.28 Thank you so much. 00:04:42.31\00:04:43.65 She's a twin, isn't she? 00:04:43.68\00:04:45.05 That's right. That always gets me. 00:04:45.08\00:04:46.55 Identical twin. 00:04:46.58\00:04:48.35 Identical twin, yes. 00:04:48.38\00:04:49.72 The last time when your sister's husband was here I was 00:04:49.75\00:04:51.55 getting...I was connecting him to somebody else. It's 00:04:51.59\00:04:54.12 confusing. But you guys are so identical. But good to have you 00:04:54.16\00:04:58.29 here. How's it going so far in that new seat? 00:04:58.33\00:04:59.66 Things are going great. As you can see I have amazing help and 00:04:59.69\00:05:04.67 Curtis and Rodney are just phenomenal to work with. I've 00:05:04.70\00:05:07.70 got an easy, easy team to work with. So it's just a blessing. 00:05:07.74\00:05:12.24 And what about you getting involved in ASI, how did that 00:05:12.27\00:05:15.91 happen and what attracted you to ASI? 00:05:15.94\00:05:17.31 Well you know it's interesting. Before my husband and I even 00:05:17.35\00:05:20.18 attended an ASI meeting we paid some dues to become ASI members. 00:05:20.22\00:05:24.55 But you know there was a misconception in my mind about 00:05:24.59\00:05:27.82 what self-supporting looked like and I thought well I'll pay dues 00:05:27.86\00:05:30.99 I'll support the organization but it didn't seem like it was 00:05:31.03\00:05:33.80 for me. Finally went there and loved what we saw and heard. 00:05:33.83\00:05:37.80 Lay people doing things that were phenomenal. One of the 00:05:37.83\00:05:41.80 things that interested my husband and me was just the lay 00:05:41.84\00:05:44.47 person that went overseas and drilled wells to help people 00:05:44.51\00:05:49.01 have water. We thought well we can certainly do something. And 00:05:49.04\00:05:51.98 then interestingly I was walking out of one of the meetings, I 00:05:52.01\00:05:54.58 can't remember which year it was but said to me would you help us 00:05:54.62\00:05:59.52 and be president of the Atlantic Union ASI? Sure I'll do that. 00:05:59.55\00:06:03.12 I didn't know what it was about. Little did I know, and that was 00:06:03.16\00:06:07.86 I think in 2008. And then it just led to different things and 00:06:07.90\00:06:13.34 we have been so blessed to have a burden for souls just because 00:06:13.37\00:06:16.91 of ASI that's something that I hadn't experienced before. 00:06:16.94\00:06:19.64 You're sister's involved and her husband with ASI. 00:06:19.67\00:06:22.51 Yeah well um they're also ASI members. He is the president of 00:06:22.54\00:06:26.72 AMEN which is an ASI member. But they also are very involved 00:06:26.75\00:06:30.72 in sharing Christ in their market place as well. Phenomenal 00:06:30.75\00:06:33.02 stories, both of them. (yes) 00:06:33.05\00:06:36.39 Wow, and Curtis Letniak. Did I say that pretty good? 00:06:36.42\00:06:41.43 Sure. How is it being the ASI General Vice President? 00:06:41.46\00:06:43.80 Well it's been great to work with an amazing team. Having 00:06:43.83\00:06:49.47 been involved as long with the organization so I'm kind of the 00:06:49.50\00:06:52.17 new kid on the block but it's been a great experience and a 00:06:52.21\00:06:56.38 fast learning curve for sure. 00:06:56.41\00:06:58.08 You know you work...talk about pastoring and then entering ASI 00:06:58.11\00:07:04.32 wondering what is this and then the Lord bringing you together 00:07:04.35\00:07:07.56 as a team. And whenever people get together we know God has a 00:07:07.59\00:07:11.13 plan that's far beyond our vision but to work at the local 00:07:11.16\00:07:14.53 church and to work at ASI, how do you see it different? 00:07:14.56\00:07:17.23 Well it's very interesting because what ASI means to the 00:07:17.27\00:07:22.80 church is very important because it's engaging the laity and 00:07:22.84\00:07:26.44 really the best church member is an ASI member because it's 00:07:26.47\00:07:30.78 someone who is sold out for Christ. Someone who really gets 00:07:30.81\00:07:34.75 it and as we're going to see throughout this...we see lay 00:07:34.78\00:07:39.32 people who have a vision and a passion to share the three 00:07:39.35\00:07:42.82 angels' messages and that's what really ASI is all about. And 00:07:42.86\00:07:47.53 then the collaboration is just amazing as we're going to share 00:07:47.56\00:07:51.40 stories of how we partner with the church in a powerful way. 00:07:51.43\00:07:55.20 It's important. 00:07:55.24\00:07:56.57 What about you Curtis? 00:07:56.60\00:07:59.24 So for me being involved with ASI is much like the story of 00:07:59.27\00:08:06.68 Nehemiah that we read about and we think of looking back how the 00:08:06.72\00:08:12.25 people saw this great work that had to be done and Nehemiah 00:08:12.29\00:08:15.52 presented to them the case and they came together and it says 00:08:15.56\00:08:18.86 in Nehemiah 2 and verse 18 at the end it says: And they said 00:08:18.89\00:08:23.10 let us rise up and build. So they strengthened their hands 00:08:23.13\00:08:25.50 for the good work. So that's kind of like an ASI convention 00:08:25.53\00:08:28.64 where we can come together, we can connect and network and be 00:08:28.67\00:08:31.24 inspired and equipped. And then if you look what happened after 00:08:31.27\00:08:35.04 that you had the priests coming together with the lay people. 00:08:35.08\00:08:38.41 This leader, this person, and his family, you know all coming 00:08:38.45\00:08:42.48 together, working shoulder to shoulder and accomplishing in 52 00:08:42.52\00:08:46.92 days just this amazing work that God was able to do working 00:08:46.96\00:08:50.63 together side by side, the laity and the church working together. 00:08:50.66\00:08:53.33 So for me, that's one thing where we can see opportunities 00:08:53.36\00:08:59.67 for churches. Instead of operating just in local 00:08:59.70\00:09:02.44 churches, we now can connect together the lay people coming 00:09:02.47\00:09:06.27 together with ministries, lay-led, alongside the church 00:09:06.31\00:09:10.45 just advancing the work, working together just like we see in Nehemiah and you know 00:09:10.48\00:09:13.85 it's just amazing to see how God was able to work through that. 00:09:13.88\00:09:17.35 You know being familiar with that story I love that simile. 00:09:17.39\00:09:21.16 Actually, it's called rise up and build to share that message. 00:09:21.19\00:09:23.93 but now considering how the projects happen, just before we 00:09:23.96\00:09:26.39 go to Andi, we also know that there's a lot of opposition 00:09:26.43\00:09:31.17 because throughout the story of Nehemiah the one thing that I 00:09:31.20\00:09:33.84 really like about it and all the opposition Nehemiah refused to 00:09:33.87\00:09:38.17 come down off the wall. (That's right). So how do you stay on 00:09:38.21\00:09:40.84 the wall at ASI because there's so many things that are 00:09:40.88\00:09:44.18 competing in your day to day life as well as in your day to 00:09:44.21\00:09:47.48 day ministry. (That's right) How do you stay on the wall? 00:09:47.52\00:09:48.85 So the focus that ASI brings you know we can see as you work 00:09:48.88\00:09:54.72 together and as you stay focused on that mission, you can just 00:09:54.76\00:09:59.09 see the difference that it makes in our churches. There's so many 00:09:59.13\00:10:02.10 distractions, just like you said So many things that Satan's 00:10:02.13\00:10:04.43 trying to do to take our eyes off the work and if we're by 00:10:04.47\00:10:07.40 ourselves in little silos the enemy could have easily taken 00:10:07.44\00:10:10.07 out this or that. But coming together, working shoulder to 00:10:10.11\00:10:12.94 shoulder just as they did there, they were able to you know fend 00:10:12.97\00:10:17.15 off those attacks, staying focused on the work and that is 00:10:17.18\00:10:20.12 really very much a part of what ASI is. (Wow) 00:10:20.15\00:10:23.59 Yeah, I totally agree and I love his text but and there's one 00:10:23.62\00:10:28.19 also that the apostle Paul uses in Hebrews 10 which to me is an 00:10:28.22\00:10:31.76 ASI text and it says...And that's 10:24 and 25. It says: 00:10:31.79\00:10:35.53 Let us consider one another in order to stir up love and good 00:10:35.56\00:10:39.73 works. So it's not just good works, but I believe that those 00:10:39.77\00:10:43.54 of us, that come to ASI, who bought in, for being all in and 00:10:43.57\00:10:47.44 all out for Jesus Christ actually, love each other. 00:10:47.48\00:10:50.51 So it says, And stir up love and good works not forsaking the 00:10:50.55\00:10:55.85 assembling of ourselves together as is the manner of some but 00:10:55.88\00:10:59.65 exhorting one another and so much more as you see the day 00:10:59.69\00:11:04.16 approaching. And so I think that when you sit by yourself or 00:11:04.19\00:11:08.26 maybe just go out and do a few little things you don't have any 00:11:08.30\00:11:12.40 inspiration, you don't have any support. But when we come 00:11:12.43\00:11:15.54 together at ASI, we feel that call of God in our lives and 00:11:15.57\00:11:19.27 it's refreshed every single year because we hear something new 00:11:19.31\00:11:23.81 and God does something new in us every day and every time that 00:11:23.85\00:11:27.02 we come to the convention. So these two texts I think come 00:11:27.05\00:11:30.99 together to just really give us that encouragement and the spark 00:11:31.02\00:11:34.59 that we need. And we've seen how living by yourself can tear a 00:11:34.62\00:11:39.19 church apart. We've seen that recently. And so I'm just glad 00:11:39.23\00:11:43.47 that ASI is there and that when we come together and let the 00:11:43.50\00:11:48.64 Lord do a work in our minds and our hearts, I tell you, as Ellen 00:11:48.67\00:11:53.24 White says the work will be finished like fire in a stubble. 00:11:53.27\00:11:56.81 And so that's one of the reasons that I'm excited about ASI, um 00:11:56.85\00:12:01.98 you know, all of us together supporting each other, 00:12:02.02\00:12:04.02 encouraging each other and just showing different ways that we 00:12:04.05\00:12:06.76 can minister together. That's what's kept me engaged and 00:12:06.79\00:12:11.69 it's been just a huge blessing. 00:12:11.73\00:12:14.93 In unity. Wow. Do we have a picture of you and your family? 00:12:14.96\00:12:17.63 I think we do. 00:12:17.67\00:12:19.00 Are they involved with you? 00:12:19.03\00:12:20.50 Yes. So you know ASI started for us, our family, with a simple 00:12:20.54\00:12:24.94 invitation I think back in 2013 from my uncle just said, you 00:12:24.97\00:12:30.31 know we're involved in business and he said you know I think 00:12:30.35\00:12:33.05 you'd really be blessed by being part of ASI. So we followed that 00:12:33.08\00:12:38.22 invitation came to our first convention. Little did we know. 00:12:38.25\00:12:40.66 It totally changed the lives of our whole family and the picture 00:12:40.69\00:12:44.16 that you just saw was an example of that... 00:12:44.19\00:12:46.09 Where were you in that picture? 00:12:46.13\00:12:47.86 In Cambodia. So we had no idea that God would have a place for 00:12:47.90\00:12:50.67 our family across the world in Cambodia. Here this little 00:12:50.70\00:12:54.70 Canadian family you know being able...But it was through ASI 00:12:54.74\00:12:57.61 that we were able to make those connections and God opened 00:12:57.64\00:13:00.31 doors you know for our family. I think that was our eighth trip 00:13:00.34\00:13:02.84 as a family, I think my 12th time to Cambodia in a three year 00:13:02.88\00:13:06.48 period. It was a total life changing experience for our 00:13:06.51\00:13:08.75 family. 00:13:08.78\00:13:10.12 So not only the unity of the faith but the unity of the 00:13:10.15\00:13:12.35 family. (Yeah) The coalition that gets stronger as we pull. 00:13:12.39\00:13:16.69 Of course, as you know there's some people watching the program 00:13:16.73\00:13:18.29 or listening that might say well I'd like to know more about ASI. 00:13:18.33\00:13:22.10 Well we have about almost a five-minute video that we'd like 00:13:22.13\00:13:24.67 you to look at right now. It'll give you a broad view of what 00:13:24.70\00:13:28.90 ASI has done, how it got started and where it's headed. 00:13:28.94\00:13:34.51 ¤ ¤ 00:13:34.54\00:13:38.81 ASI is dedicated to networking, equipping and empowering people 00:13:38.85\00:13:42.78 like you, trail blazers for the gospel from all walks of life. 00:13:42.82\00:13:47.42 Visionaries and innovators who are looking to combine their 00:13:47.46\00:13:51.69 skills and talents with the unique call God has given to us 00:13:51.73\00:13:55.76 of His final movement. A call to prophesy again before many 00:13:55.80\00:14:01.30 nations. A call to take the three angels' message into the 00:14:01.34\00:14:05.17 market place in this generation. Join us as we take a closer look 00:14:05.21\00:14:09.44 at the birth of ASI, its vision mission and purpose and the ways 00:14:09.48\00:14:15.22 in which you too can be a part of this trail-blazing movement 00:14:15.25\00:14:19.62 of innovative mission for God. On a warm summer's day in June 00:14:19.65\00:14:26.73 1904 the steamboat the Morning Star pushed away from the 00:14:26.76\00:14:31.70 landing dock here in Nashville, Tennessee and headed up the 00:14:31.73\00:14:34.84 Cumberland River. On board was a small group of explorers 00:14:34.87\00:14:39.17 setting out to find land. The group was on an expedition to 00:14:39.21\00:14:43.68 find suitable land to build missionary training schools. 00:14:43.71\00:14:46.82 These training schools were designed to deploy workers into 00:14:46.85\00:14:50.45 the deep south of the United States. When they were a few 00:14:50.49\00:14:53.86 miles out of Nashville the Morning Star broke down right 00:14:53.89\00:14:57.36 near this spot. Providentially they had broken down on the edge 00:14:57.39\00:15:01.30 of the Ferguson Nelson farm, a large but unpromising spread of 00:15:01.33\00:15:06.13 land near Madison. When they got to the land Ellen White told 00:15:06.17\00:15:11.37 Southerland, she had seen it in vision and this was the land 00:15:11.41\00:15:14.48 they should purchase for the training school. 00:15:14.51\00:15:16.38 Sutherland's heart sank. He protested that it was far too 00:15:16.41\00:15:20.88 big and far too expensive to be considered. But Ellen White 00:15:20.92\00:15:24.25 remained adamant. This was the land. They begged God for help 00:15:24.29\00:15:30.36 for courage to move forward in faith in obedience to the divine 00:15:30.39\00:15:34.63 counsel. As they prayed they were filled with such peace, 00:15:34.66\00:15:37.07 assurance and courage that from that point forward whenever they 00:15:37.10\00:15:42.27 faced challenges they never doubted that God had called them 00:15:42.30\00:15:44.97 to this place and to this work. Sutherland and Magan's faith, 00:15:45.01\00:15:49.54 courage and self-sacrifice were hallmarks of the work here at 00:15:49.58\00:15:54.45 Madison. These traits permeated every factor of student life 00:15:54.48\00:15:58.52 and provided an example for each cohort of students to follow. 00:15:58.55\00:16:03.43 In many ways, Madison set the stage for innovation in mission 00:16:03.46\00:16:08.36 in the Seventh-day Adventist church and not only that it also 00:16:08.40\00:16:11.83 facilitated and empowered lay driven mission initiatives. 00:16:11.87\00:16:16.37 Years later when Adventist Laymen's Services and Industries 00:16:16.40\00:16:21.94 better known as ASI was formed it too embraced these same core 00:16:21.98\00:16:26.65 values: Mission, innovation and self-sacrificing commitment all 00:16:26.68\00:16:31.89 driven by an empowered and well equipped laity. At the heart of 00:16:31.92\00:16:36.79 the Madison model were a few key principles. The importance of 00:16:36.83\00:16:41.13 faith in God's word and sacrifice. The importance of 00:16:41.16\00:16:44.93 innovation and entrepreneurship within the context of mission. 00:16:44.97\00:16:50.51 And the importance of an empowered and engaged church 00:16:50.54\00:16:54.58 membership readily sharing Christ in the marketplace. 00:16:54.61\00:16:57.51 (Steve Dickman) So sharing Christ in the marketplace is the 00:16:57.55\00:17:00.45 model of ASI. Every business has its market place. 00:17:00.48\00:17:06.19 God has brought us where we are. (Volker Schmidt) He has given us 00:17:06.22\00:17:12.79 business and the opportunities. And so wherever we have that 00:17:12.83\00:17:18.00 vision we share what God has given us. 00:17:18.03\00:17:20.54 (Joshua Subhash) The only way we could reach is Christ's method 00:17:20.57\00:17:24.11 alone. The Savior mingled with men as one who desired their 00:17:24.14\00:17:28.31 good. He showed His sympathy for them ministered to their needs 00:17:28.34\00:17:31.65 and won their confidence then He bade them follow me. 00:17:31.68\00:17:36.18 I think it's very important for us to open doors to be able to 00:17:36.22\00:17:40.36 share the gospel. (Denzil McNeilus) A friend, Dwight 00:17:40.39\00:17:42.56 Hilderbrand says it best. He says: Once you share Christ it's 00:17:42.59\00:17:46.70 like a disease and there is no cure because you want to do it 00:17:46.73\00:17:48.96 over and over again because it's such a joy. 00:17:49.00\00:17:51.53 (Philip Baptiste) Ministry has to take place beyond the walls 00:17:51.57\00:17:53.84 of a church and wherever you are wherever you live, wherever you 00:17:53.87\00:17:58.47 work, wherever you go to school God wants you to do ministry. 00:17:58.51\00:18:01.34 (Mark Finley) ASI becomes the pulse, the very heart of what 00:18:01.38\00:18:06.41 Adventism is all about. It is a lay movement. I'm reminded of a 00:18:06.45\00:18:11.69 statement of Ellen White where she said: Until laity and 00:18:11.72\00:18:17.16 ministry join hands the work of God on earth will never be 00:18:17.19\00:18:20.86 finished. (White, 9T, p. 116.4) and so it's vitally important. 00:18:20.90\00:18:25.77 That was an amazing roll to help us understand more specifically 00:18:25.80\00:18:29.10 what ASI does, its inception, its vision, how it got started, 00:18:29.14\00:18:33.84 but I think we could find out a little bit more as we maybe 00:18:33.88\00:18:36.91 throw the questions to our panel today starting you Andi. ASI has 00:18:36.95\00:18:39.95 an amazing beginning but that's just a capsule of actually what 00:18:39.98\00:18:43.39 happened to bring it to where it is today. What can you add 00:18:43.42\00:18:45.22 to that? 00:18:45.25\00:18:46.59 Right. I think the story of Madison is one that really is 00:18:46.62\00:18:51.06 one of my favorite stories. I've read the book Madison, God's 00:18:51.09\00:18:54.06 Beautiful Farm multiple times. It tells the story of 00:18:54.10\00:18:56.87 E.A. Sutherland and P.T. Magan. They both began there and of 00:18:56.90\00:19:00.00 course Magan went to Loma Linda which is my alma mater. But it's 00:19:00.04\00:19:04.77 interesting, the great things that were done because of 00:19:04.81\00:19:09.34 Madison were done because of two men who heeded the counsel 00:19:09.38\00:19:13.25 of Ellen White. And I think that we as a church need to really 00:19:13.28\00:19:19.85 look at this and figure out why were they successful? How can we 00:19:19.89\00:19:23.22 also, be successful. The Lord has given us just a great cloud 00:19:23.26\00:19:27.16 of witnesses. We have Ellen White number one. I just want to 00:19:27.20\00:19:30.40 read something very interesting from this book. This is from 00:19:30.43\00:19:35.00 Madison, God's Beautiful Farm. But it's interesting because we 00:19:35.04\00:19:38.21 look at this story and we think, Oh they were different from us. 00:19:38.24\00:19:40.84 They were not. But this is so interesting. Ellen White had as 00:19:40.88\00:19:46.68 he mentioned in the video, the boat broke down. And Magan 00:19:46.72\00:19:49.62 called it a tub. This old tub of yours is always breaking down. 00:19:49.65\00:19:52.95 And so they brought them to this land which he thought was just 00:19:52.99\00:19:57.03 worthless land. And P.T. Magan and E.A. Sutherland walked off 00:19:57.06\00:20:02.83 to have a discussion when Ellen White said This is the place. 00:20:02.86\00:20:05.40 And it says here, E.A Sutherland looked at Magan and he turned. 00:20:05.43\00:20:12.01 He set searching eyes on Percy Magan. I do believe that you 00:20:12.04\00:20:16.04 started Mother White on this tangent. He called this a 00:20:16.08\00:20:19.58 tangent about the Ferguson Nelson property. Then seeing an 00:20:19.61\00:20:23.35 incredulous look on Percy's face he burst into tears. And this is 00:20:23.39\00:20:28.06 what he said. Oh I wish we had some honorable and Christian way 00:20:28.09\00:20:33.13 to get out of the whole thing without showing lack of faith in 00:20:33.16\00:20:37.07 the testimonies from the Lord's messenger. It occurred to me, 00:20:37.10\00:20:40.87 you know sometimes the Lord calls us to do hard things. But 00:20:40.90\00:20:44.44 listening to the counsel of the Bible and Ellen White can really 00:20:44.47\00:20:48.51 I think bring us into safe harbor and really move us as a 00:20:48.54\00:20:51.38 people to the final days. And I think that we are all...we 00:20:51.41\00:21:00.22 mentioned the three angels' messages and we really are very 00:21:00.26\00:21:04.59 much engaged and want every single church member to be 00:21:04.63\00:21:08.13 engaged in sharing Jesus Christ. 00:21:08.16\00:21:11.23 Amen. Hmm. Beautiful. Curtis how are ASI members involved? 00:21:11.27\00:21:18.97 So there are different aspects of ASI members. You have 00:21:19.01\00:21:23.98 professionals, you have business owners, you have associates, 00:21:24.01\00:21:29.88 people from all different walks of life and profession. Then 00:21:29.92\00:21:32.69 you've got the supporting ministries as well. And this 00:21:32.72\00:21:35.59 kind of follows the model of Madison where you had these self 00:21:35.62\00:21:41.36 supporting ministries who needed an opportunity to come together 00:21:41.40\00:21:44.43 and share what God was doing. Network and work together and 00:21:44.47\00:21:49.54 share resources. And that's very much what ASI is about doing is 00:21:49.57\00:21:54.28 coming together in these different facets of life, 00:21:54.31\00:21:58.05 different walks of life, each with the tools God has given us 00:21:58.08\00:22:01.22 and saying Lord what can I do with what you've given me? How 00:22:01.25\00:22:04.22 can we work together? And, as it said in the video, working 00:22:04.25\00:22:08.96 together we can accomplish much more than we can individually. 00:22:08.99\00:22:11.23 Wow. I'm going to throw it to Rodney right now. Talk about 00:22:11.26\00:22:15.96 some of the personal work because there's a lot of 00:22:16.00\00:22:19.03 involvement that each individual of ASI can get involved in as 00:22:19.07\00:22:23.37 well as the members. Walk us through some of that. Some of 00:22:23.41\00:22:29.21 the personal work that... indistinct. 00:22:29.24\00:22:30.58 The personal work. The personal work is very important. You know 00:22:30.61\00:22:33.05 ASIs motto is Sharing Christ in the Market Place. And we truly 00:22:33.08\00:22:38.32 believe that every person, every ASI member has that marketplace 00:22:38.35\00:22:43.36 So it becomes very, very personal in regard to sharing 00:22:43.39\00:22:48.56 Jesus in our neighborhoods. One thing I wanted to mention is 00:22:48.60\00:22:52.30 that a lot of the parts of Madison were built on sacrifice. 00:22:52.33\00:22:59.01 And personal sacrifice is really the heart of mission, it's the 00:22:59.04\00:23:04.68 heart of Jesus and that's really what really motivates people to 00:23:04.71\00:23:07.88 go around the world and preach using our different tools that 00:23:07.92\00:23:11.59 ASI has developed and get involved in building churches 00:23:11.62\00:23:15.06 and schools and institutions and everything. Sacrifice. 00:23:15.09\00:23:20.53 What about evangelism? 00:23:20.56\00:23:22.36 Evangelism is very important and ASI has been involved in 00:23:22.40\00:23:27.87 evangelism and developing innovative evangelistic tools 00:23:27.90\00:23:33.64 like the New Beginnings evangelistic tool, that we've 00:23:33.68\00:23:37.65 mentioned here before at 3ABN and we've recently redesigned 00:23:37.68\00:23:41.38 the whole thing and it's to empower the lay members of the 00:23:41.42\00:23:45.99 church to preach the gospel of Jesus Christ. 00:23:46.02\00:23:48.16 You have some pictures to show us then (indistinct). 00:23:48.19\00:23:50.46 I very definitely do, yeah. So the first picture that we have 00:23:50.49\00:23:53.80 is of the new beginnings series itself. This one is the picture 00:23:53.83\00:23:58.27 roll project. New beginnings is not just something that is done 00:23:58.30\00:24:02.87 on powerpoint but the picture roll project was very innovative 00:24:02.90\00:24:07.21 Again we've been here on 3ABN and Steve Dickman and I showed 00:24:07.24\00:24:12.28 that to our audience. The picture roll is a way to take 00:24:12.31\00:24:15.52 the gospel to areas where there's no electricity and to 00:24:15.55\00:24:19.82 share the whole message, 26 powerful evangelistic sermons 00:24:19.85\00:24:25.19 coupled with health put together in a beautiful package that you 00:24:25.23\00:24:30.47 can take anywhere. If the lights go out it's not a big problem. 00:24:30.50\00:24:34.97 If the generators stop, whatever the case is, the picture rolls 00:24:35.00\00:24:38.74 share the three angels' messages in a powerful way. And the next 00:24:38.77\00:24:43.31 picture just shows some of our team in Zambia getting those 00:24:43.35\00:24:48.25 picture rolls and going out to all parts of their country and 00:24:48.28\00:24:53.29 sharing the gospel in a very meaningful way. (Wow) That's 00:24:53.32\00:24:58.69 the heartbeat. 00:24:58.73\00:25:00.20 Yeah. We were in Zambia (Zimbabwe) and they had the 00:25:00.23\00:25:04.03 picture rolls. 00:25:04.07\00:25:05.40 Yes, they're all over the world now. 00:25:05.43\00:25:06.77 And I like it how you have this health message with the message. 00:25:06.80\00:25:10.91 It's so evangelistic. 00:25:10.94\00:25:12.91 The right arm of the gospel, the health, and then the powerful 00:25:12.94\00:25:16.75 preaching with beautiful artwork. 00:25:16.78\00:25:18.25 Yeah, I like what you said. If the power goes out it really 00:25:18.28\00:25:23.02 doesn't. This is reliant more on the power of the Holy Spirit. 00:25:23.05\00:25:26.59 (Amen) And that's a very interesting thing. I've often 00:25:26.62\00:25:29.09 said to the young people nowadays that use their phone 00:25:29.12\00:25:31.66 and their I-pads for their Bibles, I said, you're Bible 00:25:31.69\00:25:34.40 only has a certain life span. But if you have a physical book 00:25:34.43\00:25:37.93 the power never goes out. (Amen)(Wow) 00:25:37.97\00:25:41.70 Yes, now Curtis what about you? Do you have... 00:25:41.74\00:25:48.18 Yeah so just feeding off of what Rodney was sharing about picture 00:25:48.21\00:25:50.31 rolls, we were able to see that and experience that first hand. 00:25:50.35\00:25:53.72 In fact, I think the next picture shows Cambodia. This 00:25:53.75\00:25:56.79 picture here was two weeks ago. This was at a school in Cambodia 00:25:56.82\00:26:00.39 where the students would use this during the day, the picture 00:26:00.42\00:26:03.76 rolls that you see here. They would prepare the presentation 00:26:03.79\00:26:07.96 for the evening where they invited their parents and 00:26:08.00\00:26:10.00 neighbors to come then in the evenings to these meetings. 00:26:10.03\00:26:12.37 So using the picture rolls they were able to go through a series 00:26:12.40\00:26:15.54 of meetings and it was just amazing to see how God worked 00:26:15.57\00:26:18.37 through these young people and through the picture rolls to 00:26:18.41\00:26:21.38 just connect and reach out to the people in their community 00:26:21.41\00:26:24.85 and their parents. I mean, what parent seeing their child 00:26:24.88\00:26:28.48 present an evangelistic series wouldn't be touched. And so that 00:26:28.52\00:26:31.95 was one opportunity a few... It was about a year ago a little 00:26:31.99\00:26:36.73 over a year ago, if we take the next picture. This is in a 00:26:36.76\00:26:39.69 classroom. This classroom has 200 children in a tiny little 00:26:39.73\00:26:43.93 room and they were using the picture rolls as part of their 00:26:43.97\00:26:46.80 curriculum and they would actually, on all four walls of 00:26:46.84\00:26:51.41 the room where they would have kind of a separate little group 00:26:51.44\00:26:54.44 meeting, they would use these picture rolls in an amazing way 00:26:54.48\00:26:57.61 to...And for the children this brings such vision who've never 00:26:57.65\00:27:01.92 heard of God, you know, coming from a different world view, to 00:27:01.95\00:27:05.95 be able to visualize what the second coming might look like or 00:27:05.99\00:27:09.82 various things like that. And of course the health messages as 00:27:09.86\00:27:12.13 well, that were part of that. 00:27:12.16\00:27:13.50 And these picture rolls, just a question on it. Now are there 00:27:13.53\00:27:17.87 many picture rolls that have different topics or one picture 00:27:17.90\00:27:20.54 roll that contains all the topics? 00:27:20.57\00:27:23.34 So it comes in a tube and there are two picture rolls. And so 00:27:23.37\00:27:28.34 there's 26 total programs, 13 in each roll. (Wow) So it's really 00:27:28.38\00:27:36.02 actually an amazing thing. We've printed it on waterproof paper 00:27:36.05\00:27:38.92 that's tear resistant and so they're durable, they last. And 00:27:38.95\00:27:44.99 they've been all over the world. One thing that I wanted to 00:27:45.03\00:27:47.80 mention about this one for Cambodia is that we sent 1500 of 00:27:47.83\00:27:52.33 these and it was an amazing thing. It was the largest 00:27:52.37\00:27:57.01 shipment of religious material like this that had ever gone 00:27:57.04\00:28:00.61 into the area. And so God worked some miracles just to be the 00:28:00.64\00:28:04.25 picture rolls into the field... 00:28:04.28\00:28:07.52 Just as an example of working together through ASI ministries 00:28:07.55\00:28:10.29 members of ASI, there were a number of different ministries 00:28:10.32\00:28:13.36 involved in getting these picture rolls into the country 00:28:13.39\00:28:15.86 working together and then distributing them to not only 00:28:15.89\00:28:18.59 within Cambodia but all throughout southeast Asia. 00:28:18.63\00:28:20.63 Was it difficult to get it in? 00:28:20.66\00:28:22.13 Very difficult. We took the first picture roll in as a 00:28:22.16\00:28:26.40 family when we went on one trip before this container was 00:28:26.43\00:28:30.31 released and took it for Bible study helps for small groups. 00:28:30.34\00:28:34.34 And they held that at the security. They thought it was a 00:28:34.38\00:28:38.58 missile launcher and so finally we were able to convince them 00:28:38.61\00:28:45.29 that...Yeah exactly. (Multiple voices). 00:28:45.32\00:28:47.46 That's the purpose of bringing this message, into all the world 00:28:47.49\00:28:50.06 What better way than to catapult it. You know, Rodney I'm going 00:28:50.09\00:28:54.30 to come back to you. Talk about Exploring His Way. 00:28:54.33\00:28:58.63 Another feature...indistinct. 00:28:58.67\00:29:00.00 Definitely. This is a brand new product that ASI is developing 00:29:00.04\00:29:04.31 New Beginnings has been known as something that is for adults. 00:29:04.34\00:29:08.91 The picture roll has been used for children and adults but we 00:29:08.94\00:29:12.71 have a brand new evangelistic series that is specifically made 00:29:12.75\00:29:17.65 for children. We're going to have two versions. One is going 00:29:17.69\00:29:21.42 to be from ages three to seven and then ages eight through 12. 00:29:21.46\00:29:25.26 We're going to debut it at our upcoming ASI convention. So it's 00:29:25.29\00:29:30.07 a full evangelistic series, Exploring His Word specifically 00:29:30.10\00:29:34.44 for children and we want youth and children to give the message 00:29:34.47\00:29:39.71 Okay we have a picture of kind of what the kind of looks like. 00:29:39.74\00:29:44.85 Exploring His [Word] is a beautiful, beautiful thing and 00:29:44.88\00:29:48.42 again this is a full message evangelistic series for kids 00:29:48.45\00:29:53.39 that we want lay people around the world to use. 00:29:53.42\00:29:56.36 That's really good. Now how many will that also cover(indistinct) 00:29:56.39\00:30:01.06 Twenty-six topics. It's going to match the adult version exactly 00:30:01.10\00:30:04.40 so the kids are going to learn the same message. The whole 00:30:04.43\00:30:07.34 family is going to be excited about Daniel 2. The whole family 00:30:07.37\00:30:10.64 is going to learn about the mark of the beast. It's going to be 00:30:10.67\00:30:13.07 all together. 00:30:13.11\00:30:14.44 Get them while they're young. 00:30:14.48\00:30:15.81 Get them while they're young. Get those minds going. Put those 00:30:15.84\00:30:18.21 seeds in there. And now let's talk about 3 A.M. because that's 00:30:18.25\00:30:22.82 something that you're very much connected to. (Chuckles) 00:30:22.85\00:30:26.35 How's it going with your journey into the 3 A.M. call. 00:30:26.39\00:30:31.43 Wow. I'm excited about that; the three angels' messages call... 00:30:31.46\00:30:35.30 The 3 A.M. call is an initiative that ASI started several years 00:30:35.33\00:30:38.60 ago and we have thousands of people that are participating 00:30:38.63\00:30:42.90 to share the three angels' messages in a powerful way. 00:30:42.94\00:30:47.18 So we set up a website the3amcall.org and it helps 00:30:47.21\00:30:53.01 people to have tools and the methodology of how to share the 00:30:53.05\00:30:57.15 gospel in a distinct way. 00:30:57.19\00:30:59.75 Now we have a slate that gives us an idea what the... 00:30:59.79\00:31:03.02 The 3 A.M. Call, the picture that we have is simply the home 00:31:03.06\00:31:06.76 page. So I want to encourage everyone to go to 00:31:06.80\00:31:09.86 the3amcall.org or just 3amcall.org and sign up to 00:31:09.90\00:31:15.20 become a missionary sharing the three angels' messages. 00:31:15.24\00:31:18.87 Matter of fact, when you were here last time my wife signed 00:31:18.91\00:31:21.54 up. I did and I get emails all the time. Yeah, it's beautiful. 00:31:21.58\00:31:26.08 We'll tell our audience how they can sign up also. 00:31:26.11\00:31:27.85 Yeah, now Andi what about you? Share with us. 00:31:27.88\00:31:32.32 Well you know it's interesting a lot of times we think, people 00:31:32.35\00:31:37.03 might think that they come to ASI, it's an organizational... 00:31:37.06\00:31:41.46 We do evangelism overseas, we do all sorts of different things 00:31:41.50\00:31:44.53 and it's sort of disjointed from the person and individual 00:31:44.57\00:31:48.80 investment. Before I show my series of slides on our 00:31:48.84\00:31:55.01 "vacation" turned mission trip I just want to tell you a little 00:31:55.04\00:31:58.15 bit about our own journey with ASI. Because before that we had 00:31:58.18\00:32:03.85 not really done much. We were very much involved in another 00:32:03.89\00:32:06.49 ministry, in fact, the ministry was interviewed before us. 00:32:06.52\00:32:08.82 And so in my thinking knowing the right thing, be able to 00:32:08.86\00:32:14.26 speak the right thing was very important. And one of the ASI 00:32:14.30\00:32:19.33 meetings that we were at Mark Finley gave a talk on Pentecost 00:32:19.37\00:32:23.91 Revisited and he talked about the different reasons why the 00:32:23.94\00:32:29.58 Holy Spirit had not been poured out yet. At the end, he talked 00:32:29.61\00:32:33.45 about going door to door and he asked the question, did He see 00:32:33.48\00:32:40.02 you? And I remember thinking He didn't see me. I was 00:32:40.06\00:32:44.73 devastated thinking to myself I didn't really have a heart for 00:32:44.76\00:32:48.13 people. So that started my husband and I on a journey and 00:32:48.16\00:32:51.73 we went door knocking in our neighborhood. And that was a 00:32:51.77\00:32:55.17 little stressful for my husband. He's more reserved. I'm a little 00:32:55.20\00:32:58.44 bit more out there. But I'd gone door knocking before but not in 00:32:58.47\00:33:01.28 our neighborhood. It's easier to go in some other neighborhood 00:33:01.31\00:33:03.31 where the people would never see you again. So we did (what was 00:33:03.35\00:33:07.75 that like?) and some tremendous things happened out of that. We 00:33:07.78\00:33:10.69 got to know the neighbors. We had a Bible study that came out 00:33:10.72\00:33:14.02 of that, that met in our home for a while and later, I don't 00:33:14.06\00:33:17.09 think I have time to tell you that story, we may at the very 00:33:17.13\00:33:19.86 end, but did that. And another person, I studied the Bible with 00:33:19.89\00:33:24.20 for two years and she would have been baptized had her husband 00:33:24.23\00:33:27.87 not divorced her. She had to go back to work. But that is an 00:33:27.90\00:33:30.91 incredible story of how the Lord was working. And the other thing 00:33:30.94\00:33:34.38 that we did in our neighborhood during the pandemic is we had a 00:33:34.41\00:33:40.42 cooking school, a cooking school And you know I love to cook, I 00:33:40.45\00:33:44.05 love the kitchen but I've never done a cooking school but 00:33:44.09\00:33:47.56 ASI member who's become our absolute dearest friends on the 00:33:47.59\00:33:51.13 planet said, Oh we can do it on Zoom. Multiple voices. But 00:33:51.16\00:34:00.44 telling you it's just encouraging members there are 00:34:00.47\00:34:02.67 things you can go do for Jesus Christ. Now my whole idea of 00:34:02.70\00:34:07.11 that was to get a Bible study. I love doing Bible studies. And 00:34:07.14\00:34:11.28 so you know we did. And so my husband and I are now studying 00:34:11.31\00:34:15.25 the Bible with a couple that came to the cooking school. 00:34:15.28\00:34:17.89 And it is amazing. And what we've done to kind of...because 00:34:17.92\00:34:23.73 Boston's a sort of intellectual kind of a place, you know, 00:34:23.76\00:34:27.43 irreligious. So we had to kind of redesign our own studies and 00:34:27.46\00:34:31.07 we did sort of apologetics. But it's been just an amazing 00:34:31.10\00:34:35.80 journey just really being involved with that and then 00:34:35.84\00:34:39.44 encouraging our church members as well. But I think that when I 00:34:39.47\00:34:43.78 mentioned all in and all out. We like to go on vacation. My 00:34:43.81\00:34:48.15 husband and I love to travel. We love to go on vacation. And 00:34:48.18\00:34:51.75 we like to go on vacation with friends and so we did one time. 00:34:51.79\00:34:53.76 And we went on a sailing trip to Belize. Now we knew that the 00:34:53.79\00:34:58.46 sailing trip was going to end and we'd have a few days at the 00:34:58.49\00:35:00.93 end and we were going to go to church. And so I do have some 00:35:00.96\00:35:04.17 slides, a series of slides, I'm going to walk you through what 00:35:04.20\00:35:07.40 happened. Because this is what we met with on Sabbath morning 00:35:07.44\00:35:11.01 when we drove up. This was the church. There were seven of us 00:35:11.04\00:35:16.21 traveling together, actually seven or nine, something like 00:35:16.24\00:35:19.48 that. But it was so funny because we drove up...My 00:35:19.51\00:35:22.32 brother-in-law who does everything, he's the leader of 00:35:22.35\00:35:25.52 our group. We all sat in the van and we looked at that church, 00:35:25.55\00:35:29.22 that building and we said, Right. We didn't want to get out 00:35:29.26\00:35:34.23 of the van. And so my brother- in-law said We are getting out 00:35:34.26\00:35:38.43 of the van. This is where we're going to church today. And we 00:35:38.47\00:35:40.90 thought, ahhh. It was a church for orphans. They were all 00:35:40.94\00:35:44.14 orphans and here they are. And it was incredible. My husband 00:35:44.17\00:35:47.98 who was going to preach, I'll show you in a moment, but this 00:35:48.01\00:35:50.38 is what the orphans looked like. They were so engaged for Jesus 00:35:50.41\00:35:53.58 Christ. But this was the only place they had to worship. You 00:35:53.62\00:35:55.95 notice the ceiling. There were no lights. And we sat in that 00:35:55.98\00:35:59.29 place and we thought wow, um this is something else. And so 00:35:59.32\00:36:04.33 here's my husband preaching (Amen) at the church dressed in 00:36:04.36\00:36:08.10 his sandals, et cetera, it's very hot in Belize. But I want 00:36:08.13\00:36:11.53 to tell you something about the orphans. They knew their Bibles. 00:36:11.57\00:36:14.24 And one of our group was to lead in the scripture reading 00:36:14.27\00:36:18.17 and he told them the scripture to turn to and they began to 00:36:18.21\00:36:23.35 recite the scripture by memory, there were several verses and he 00:36:23.38\00:36:26.55 was still trying to find where it was on his electronic Bible 00:36:26.58\00:36:29.28 and so that didn't quite work out so well, but anyway so they 00:36:29.32\00:36:35.99 recited and we fell in love with the orphans. And we said that 00:36:36.02\00:36:38.33 church cannot be. I'm going to do something about it. And so we 00:36:38.36\00:36:42.36 got together right there in our hotel later and we said 00:36:42.40\00:36:45.33 we're going to 00:36:45.37\00:36:46.70 destroy the church and build them a new church. So we knew we 00:36:46.74\00:36:49.54 couldn't do a one-day church because we'd have to have a big 00:36:49.57\00:36:51.97 container to ship everything so we said, we are going to 00:36:52.01\00:36:55.48 build them a new church. And so we just had the local help do it 00:36:55.51\00:37:00.92 There was some of it that my brother-in-law knew if you 00:37:00.95\00:37:04.09 show the next picture again this is what the inside of it looks 00:37:04.12\00:37:06.79 like (Oh what a difference) and then the next one is one to 00:37:06.82\00:37:10.13 remind you. Then the next slide what it was before with all the 00:37:10.16\00:37:14.23 mold and the rust and everything And then so this is what it came 00:37:14.26\00:37:18.20 out after that. 00:37:18.23\00:37:20.07 Praise the Lord. 00:37:20.10\00:37:21.44 So and you know and I think this is one of the things I think 00:37:21.47\00:37:23.87 that ASI does to each of its members. It transforms you. 00:37:23.91\00:37:28.28 So that when you go on vacation you recognize...Your eye is 00:37:28.31\00:37:33.08 always out. Just as it is now when I go to work...Does that 00:37:33.11\00:37:36.42 person need me to pray with them I pray with several people at 00:37:36.45\00:37:39.59 the hospital. By the way, this is a very good spectrum of what 00:37:39.62\00:37:42.49 ASI looks like. They have supporting ministry, we have 00:37:42.52\00:37:46.06 business and a professional and just how to lead people to Jesus 00:37:46.09\00:37:48.76 Christ and caring about people. That was not something that was 00:37:48.80\00:37:54.10 in my DNA I hate to say it on TV but the Lord can transform 00:37:54.14\00:37:58.24 everybody. And so this was something that we did and they 00:37:58.27\00:38:01.11 loved it. They loved it. They just couldn't believe, these 00:38:01.14\00:38:03.51 orphans, that this was now their new church building. 00:38:03.55\00:38:06.08 That was a divine appointment. 00:38:06.11\00:38:07.45 It was a divine appointment. So I believe that for an ASI 00:38:07.48\00:38:10.42 member, we're always all in so if you think you're on vacation 00:38:10.45\00:38:14.86 if the Lord calls you to change courses, you're not on vacation 00:38:14.89\00:38:18.16 you're on a mission trip. Just became a mission trip and you do 00:38:18.19\00:38:22.66 it to change. Look in your own pocket to fund whatever needs to 00:38:22.70\00:38:26.60 be funded. So praise the Lord. 00:38:26.63\00:38:28.17 How long did that take? 00:38:28.20\00:38:29.54 You know I think they got that done in about three months. 00:38:29.57\00:38:32.97 (That's it?) We just sent them the funds. It was somebody that 00:38:33.01\00:38:34.98 we knew would use the funds appropriately and they got their 00:38:35.01\00:38:38.31 team and just built it. 00:38:38.35\00:38:40.22 You know the Lord knew he was going to send you there before 00:38:40.25\00:38:42.95 you knew you were going to end up there. As the Bible says, 00:38:42.98\00:38:46.62 The steps of a righteous person is ordered by the Lord (Right) 00:38:46.65\00:38:49.42 He delights in his way. So we don't get to places 00:38:49.46\00:38:51.86 coincidentally. It's amazing how I go back to the reaction, We 00:38:51.89\00:38:57.47 are not going in there. And I like the Lord spoke to your 00:38:57.50\00:39:02.20 brother-in-law, We are going in there because this is where I 00:39:02.24\00:39:05.91 want you to be today to not worship in the beauty of 00:39:05.94\00:39:09.64 holiness but make worship the beauty of holiness. How 00:39:09.68\00:39:14.52 beautiful it was to be able to end up...I mean the orphans and 00:39:14.55\00:39:17.82 those who have gone there, I'm sure the congregation has grown 00:39:17.85\00:39:21.32 since then. People say now we are willing to go there. (Right) 00:39:21.36\00:39:24.73 You know a funny thing happened when we came in the first place. 00:39:24.76\00:39:28.80 We went to provision the boat and we got all our groceries and 00:39:28.83\00:39:32.23 we had I don't know four or five grocery carts filled with 00:39:32.27\00:39:34.47 groceries and we had every single checker in the grocery 00:39:34.50\00:39:37.61 story helping us and one of them came and said to me, Are you 00:39:37.64\00:39:41.41 guys missionaries? And we said No. And they said all the food. 00:39:41.44\00:39:46.15 It was amazing. There's a need out there. So it's really. God 00:39:46.18\00:39:50.72 was trying to talk to us ahead of time, remember that you're 00:39:50.75\00:39:52.92 working for me. 00:39:52.95\00:39:54.29 Amen. That's beautiful. Oh, praise the Lord. Now Curtis how 00:39:54.32\00:39:58.83 does ASI partner with the church? 00:39:58.86\00:40:01.33 So there's a lot of connection that happens. For example you 00:40:01.36\00:40:08.24 have most of the ministries that are part of ASI doing ministry 00:40:08.27\00:40:12.84 for the church, reaching areas maybe that the church is not 00:40:12.87\00:40:16.21 reaching. Or doing things in a way that the church is not able 00:40:16.24\00:40:20.25 to do. But the church and these lay ministries, just as the 00:40:20.28\00:40:23.89 video pointed out work together in multiple ways. I can think of 00:40:23.92\00:40:28.69 many of our ministries that partner with local missions in a 00:40:28.72\00:40:32.53 lot of these countries to work along aside them. So they're 00:40:32.56\00:40:35.56 working together not against. And so you have also other ways, 00:40:35.60\00:40:41.04 as Rodney said, the best church member is an ASI member. So if 00:40:41.07\00:40:45.87 you have one or two ASI members in your church. I think you have 00:40:45.91\00:40:49.98 an evangelistic series going on even this weekend, Rodney, just 00:40:50.01\00:40:52.41 working with other people and a lot of that through connections 00:40:52.45\00:40:55.45 with ASI. And so there's just countless examples of where you 00:40:55.48\00:40:58.82 know just coming together along side other church organizations 00:40:58.85\00:41:02.86 with the lay people and the organizational nonprofits are 00:41:02.89\00:41:08.90 just a perfect example of that. 00:41:08.93\00:41:10.47 (A team) Anything to all to that Rodney? 00:41:10.50\00:41:14.10 Definitely. (multiple voices) I have a picture to show actually. 00:41:14.14\00:41:17.37 This last weekend I was partnering with the Central 00:41:17.41\00:41:21.48 California Conference. So we have a picture of Let's Preach. 00:41:21.51\00:41:26.58 This picture shows over 100 lay people learning to preach. 00:41:26.61\00:41:31.75 We had Louis Torres and several of the conference leadership 00:41:31.79\00:41:36.29 were there as well and so it was a one-day symposium of how a lay 00:41:36.32\00:41:43.23 person can lead out in an evangelistic series. And so 00:41:43.26\00:41:47.10 that's a clear way of how ASI partners directly together with 00:41:47.14\00:41:53.27 the church. 00:41:53.31\00:41:54.64 Wow. You know I'm listening to the beautiful stories of how ASI 00:41:54.68\00:41:58.51 is affecting people's lives. The vacation, which in fact, was a 00:41:58.55\00:42:03.45 mission from God and how each one of you is involved. But now 00:42:03.49\00:42:07.82 listen, let's talk about I think what's the root of ASI is your 00:42:07.86\00:42:10.79 personal life. Let's talk about that. How you live and how it 00:42:10.83\00:42:16.50 affects what you do. Because I know that there's vocation but 00:42:16.53\00:42:20.97 there's also commitment to Christ and to live should be in 00:42:21.00\00:42:27.18 harmony with what you are involved in. Talk about some of 00:42:27.21\00:42:29.61 that. Let's start with...Curtis (indistinct and multiple voices) 00:42:29.64\00:42:34.58 You know there was a similar experience to what Andi shared. 00:42:34.62\00:42:38.82 So it was our first trip to Cambodia as a family and it was 00:42:38.85\00:42:43.16 through an ASI ministry that we were going, Adventist Frontier 00:42:43.19\00:42:46.49 Missions. And we went to our first village there. We had just 00:42:46.53\00:42:51.47 arrived. It was on Sabbath afternoon. We'd had church. 00:42:51.50\00:42:55.77 That afternoon we were going to go out with the mission families 00:42:55.80\00:42:59.04 it was kind of a medical mission project. We went to this house 00:42:59.07\00:43:02.98 There was this man inside that had tuberculosis and so they 00:43:03.01\00:43:06.72 were going to check up on him. And there was barely a two-week- 00:43:06.75\00:43:11.55 old baby laying right on the mat beside him. And this man is 00:43:11.59\00:43:14.99 coughing on his hands and coughing and they were trying to 00:43:15.02\00:43:18.56 teach him, you know, to be careful so this didn't get 00:43:18.59\00:43:21.56 passed on. And it was at the end of the visit that he so 00:43:21.60\00:43:24.67 appreciative that we'd come to visit. He wanted to shake each 00:43:24.70\00:43:27.00 of our hands, after he'd just been...And at this point, I mean 00:43:27.04\00:43:30.54 this is my first time in a country like this. It's hot, I'm 00:43:30.57\00:43:33.51 jet-lagged. It was bad enough for me and then to shake my hand 00:43:33.54\00:43:40.48 I'm like Lord you brought us here. We're going to die of 00:43:40.52\00:43:41.85 tuberculosis, now my whole family. I was walking down the 00:43:41.88\00:43:44.45 ladder of that stilt house saying get me out of here Lord 00:43:44.49\00:43:46.96 I don't want to be here. And it was just as I was getting my 00:43:46.99\00:43:51.53 shoes on, these ladies came across the road from this house 00:43:51.56\00:43:55.76 that we were at and they said we know that you know Jesus. 00:43:55.80\00:43:59.77 Could you come to our house and tell us about Jesus. And it was 00:43:59.80\00:44:02.34 there that God transformed my heart. I said, Lord, this is why 00:44:02.37\00:44:05.91 you came to this earth. You came to minister to these people and 00:44:05.94\00:44:09.41 to share the hope of Jesus' coming with them and this is 00:44:09.44\00:44:13.38 what I need you to do to my heart. Give me a love for these 00:44:13.42\00:44:16.69 people. So it was through that that my heart was transformed 00:44:16.72\00:44:20.06 and we've never been the same as a family. We bring this back 00:44:20.09\00:44:23.73 to our workplace. We, you know, have a number of staff there 00:44:23.76\00:44:28.56 that we're blessed to be able to have worship each week as we 00:44:28.60\00:44:33.67 begin our work week and throughout each work day we 00:44:33.70\00:44:36.71 begin with prayer and this has become part of the company 00:44:36.74\00:44:39.71 culture. But part of that is missions then because God put 00:44:39.74\00:44:42.18 that in our hearts as missions and it was through ASI that this 00:44:42.21\00:44:44.98 all came about that we have been able to take a number of our 00:44:45.01\00:44:49.92 staff on mission trips around the world and they've had 00:44:49.95\00:44:52.62 similar experiences where God's worked in their lives to bring 00:44:52.65\00:44:54.86 that transformation. As a result of that you know there's a 00:44:54.89\00:44:58.13 desire to know more about Jesus and it's then that this opens 00:44:58.16\00:45:01.30 the door as we have worship each week and just walk through 00:45:01.33\00:45:04.93 different stories in the Bible. Some people have never even 00:45:04.97\00:45:06.74 heard of Adam or anything like that. But it's through these 00:45:06.77\00:45:10.54 experiences that we're able to in our marketplace and through 00:45:10.57\00:45:13.54 these different mission opportunities have an 00:45:13.58\00:45:16.38 opportunity for our staff and team to be involved. 00:45:16.41\00:45:18.61 Praise the Lord. 00:45:18.65\00:45:20.15 I know Rodney well. I mean he's involved all the time. I think 00:45:20.18\00:45:24.95 he's like that New York City Channel 7 newsman. There he goes 00:45:24.99\00:45:27.76 again. He's always involved. (in mission, that's right) 00:45:27.79\00:45:29.89 Now what about the ASI convention, Andi. 00:45:29.92\00:45:34.33 Yes, you know I just wanted to mention also that you do another 00:45:34.36\00:45:42.04 ministry. I just wanted to make sure that he got all his 00:45:42.07\00:45:45.04 ministry in. He's got so many things going. I know you had the 00:45:45.07\00:45:46.54 ministry with the aviation whatever it is. 00:45:46.57\00:45:51.11 Yeah, and so it was again being involved with ASI in a lot of 00:45:51.15\00:45:54.52 these different projects. There are so many places around the 00:45:54.55\00:45:57.02 world that are so difficult to get to but we know we have to 00:45:57.05\00:45:59.99 have the opportunity to reach these places. And so you know in 00:46:00.02\00:46:04.23 business, aviation's part of our business as well and we could 00:46:04.26\00:46:07.16 see how God could use you know aviation in a similar way to 00:46:07.20\00:46:12.23 reach places in a very effective way that could never be done 00:46:12.27\00:46:15.24 otherwise. And so just through connections with different 00:46:15.27\00:46:18.17 people within ASI we were able to actually launch, during COVID 00:46:18.21\00:46:22.08 an aviation ministry that's reaching projects now in 00:46:22.11\00:46:25.71 Nicaragua and Alaska, the Philippines and a lot of 00:46:25.75\00:46:28.28 different projects where we support projects that are, you 00:46:28.32\00:46:31.72 know, mission aviation based and making ways to reach these. In 00:46:31.75\00:46:36.02 Northern Canada we actually just had a meeting yesterday to reach 00:46:36.06\00:46:39.29 three different missionary bases throughout northern Canada to 00:46:39.33\00:46:42.80 reach these very remote, difficult-to-get-to places. 00:46:42.83\00:46:45.60 And so again... 00:46:45.63\00:46:46.97 What do you bring them? (I'm sorry?) 00:46:47.00\00:46:48.34 What do you bring them? 00:46:48.37\00:46:49.70 So this...everything from humanitarian to get people that 00:46:49.74\00:46:53.98 need to go to the hospital. Bringing supplies in to these 00:46:54.01\00:46:56.75 remote places, but more importantly, as you touch 00:46:56.78\00:46:59.08 people's lives with you know helping and serving in this way 00:46:59.11\00:47:03.39 then to bring Christ's love to them. You know having Bible 00:47:03.42\00:47:06.76 workers that go into some of these places that could never 00:47:06.79\00:47:08.82 get there otherwise. 00:47:08.86\00:47:11.03 The three angels' messages is literally flying (indistinct) 00:47:11.06\00:47:14.56 To all the world. That's wonderful. 00:47:14.60\00:47:16.90 I like that. And I think we tell these stories and we don't want 00:47:16.93\00:47:21.07 to get any praise whatsoever. And I really like our convention 00:47:21.10\00:47:27.58 I know this is going to be seen multiple different times and 00:47:27.61\00:47:29.38 whatnot. But this year's convention I think the theme 00:47:29.41\00:47:33.25 came to us direct from heaven. I hate to say that but I really 00:47:33.28\00:47:36.18 do believe that that happened. Our theme for this year...By the 00:47:36.22\00:47:39.75 way the convention is the first Wednesday, because the first 00:47:39.79\00:47:44.86 Wednesday of every August, every once in a while it kind of goes 00:47:44.89\00:47:48.03 in the end of July. We have a theme this year. It's called 00:47:48.06\00:47:53.27 Revive to Witness and the subtitle is United, Transformed 00:47:53.30\00:47:57.81 and Sent. (Beautiful) And I think that unless we have a real 00:47:57.84\00:48:02.64 baptism of the Holy Spirit that they did back in the days of the 00:48:02.68\00:48:08.92 apostles, I think our work is in vain. And so we want to make 00:48:08.95\00:48:13.12 sure that we do not become full of ourselves, puffed up, moving 00:48:13.15\00:48:17.69 ahead without the Holy Spirit, without God on our side. And so 00:48:17.73\00:48:21.70 we are really praying for a life transforming convention this 00:48:21.73\00:48:30.07 year. We want to get more members but we want to reckon 00:48:30.11\00:48:33.98 to have the people that will be members or that will be...or 00:48:34.01\00:48:37.41 that are already members to recommit their life to Jesus 00:48:37.45\00:48:41.02 Christ and that's only done with deep soul searching. And I want 00:48:41.05\00:48:45.49 to read a quote for you from 1 Selected Messages, if you 00:48:45.52\00:48:48.99 don't mind. (Sure) 1 Selected Messages, just a small part of 00:48:49.02\00:48:51.89 it. A revival of true Godliness among us is the greatest and 00:48:51.93\00:48:56.30 most urgent of all our needs. To seek this should be our first 00:48:56.33\00:49:02.14 work, she says. So we can do all sorts of things but unless we 00:49:02.17\00:49:05.54 ourselves have true Godliness the work is in vain. (That's 00:49:05.57\00:49:10.25 right, Amen) It's really of ourselves. She says there must 00:49:10.28\00:49:14.15 be earnest effort to obtain the blessing of the Lord, not 00:49:14.18\00:49:16.28 because God is not willing to bestow His blessing upon us, but 00:49:16.32\00:49:20.69 because we are unprepared to receive it. Now that's really 00:49:20.72\00:49:24.09 sobering. Can it be that we're doing all sorts of things but 00:49:24.13\00:49:27.23 we're actually unprepared to receive the outpouring of the 00:49:27.26\00:49:29.46 Holy Spirit in these times. And she says this thing, this here, 00:49:29.50\00:49:34.17 I'm skipping a couple lines. But it is our work by confession, 00:49:34.20\00:49:39.67 humiliation, repentance and earnest prayer to fulfill the 00:49:39.71\00:49:43.24 conditions upon which God has promised to grant us His 00:49:43.28\00:49:46.82 blessing. And so for this convention it's our prayer 00:49:46.85\00:49:50.22 that each of us, even though we're seasoned ASI members 00:49:50.25\00:49:55.16 "doing the work" et cetera, that we are self-engaged in that 00:49:55.19\00:49:58.83 process with Jesus Christ of confession, humiliation, 00:49:58.86\00:50:03.30 repentance and earnest prayer. There's a work that needs to be 00:50:03.33\00:50:06.57 done in our lives just as we go out and work. And so that's our 00:50:06.60\00:50:10.57 theme this year. It's from Acts two but there are several other 00:50:10.61\00:50:15.41 passages of scripture that will be used as well. This is a time 00:50:15.44\00:50:20.98 that the theme came to us so quickly. I've been on multiple 00:50:21.02\00:50:24.15 you know planning's for the theme and we wrestled and 00:50:24.19\00:50:28.59 wrestled and wrestled and write something on the board, no 00:50:28.62\00:50:30.43 that's no good. But this came (snaps fingers) We were all literally very much in 00:50:30.46\00:50:34.00 agreement. It was amazing. So we're excited about the 00:50:34.03\00:50:37.03 convention and invite you to attend. 00:50:37.07\00:50:39.93 Okay. Well Curtis do you want to add something to that before 00:50:39.97\00:50:42.14 we go on a break. 00:50:42.17\00:50:43.51 Well I would just extend the same invitation that was 00:50:43.54\00:50:48.64 extended to me in 2013 by someone who cared about me 00:50:48.68\00:50:53.58 deeply, you know, just extend the same invitation to our 00:50:53.62\00:50:56.48 audience. Consider just getting involved. If God's putting it on 00:50:56.52\00:50:59.32 your heart you know that the world is not going to be here 00:50:59.35\00:51:03.26 much longer. And we have been given a very specific calling 00:51:03.29\00:51:06.56 and opportunity to be part of that. And if God's putting that 00:51:06.59\00:51:08.66 on your heart I just invite you to consider just coming to an 00:51:08.70\00:51:12.03 ASI convention, allowing the Lord to work through that time 00:51:12.07\00:51:15.60 and just see what He does. It will change your life. (Amen) 00:51:15.64\00:51:18.91 We're going to have another opportunity on the other side 00:51:18.94\00:51:21.24 of the break but I know that many of you listening and 00:51:21.28\00:51:24.95 watching the program are saying well, I've heard about ASI. For 00:51:24.98\00:51:27.78 the first time some of us said I'm so glad that I have been 00:51:27.82\00:51:30.59 reminded about ASI. It's a powerful ministry. And you may 00:51:30.62\00:51:33.69 have a ministry that you want to connect to ASI to expand your 00:51:33.72\00:51:36.36 effectiveness and your resources You may be wondering how could 00:51:36.39\00:51:40.63 I get involved with ASI. Well here is the information that you 00:51:40.66\00:51:43.77 need to contact them and possibly also become a member 00:51:43.80\00:51:47.70 of this amazing ministry that touches the world. 00:51:47.74\00:51:50.71 If you would like to contact or know more about Adventist 00:51:50.74\00:51:55.31 Laymen's Services and Industries you can write to them at 00:51:55.34\00:51:58.71 9705 Patuxent Woods Drive, Columbia, MD 21046.
