I love that song. Thank you ladies for that beautiful music. 00:05:50.38\00:05:53.01 And now we come to the point why we're here. To talk to Gideon 00:05:53.05\00:05:58.55 Rescue Company. Let's get on with the introductions because 00:05:58.59\00:06:01.22 you guys, 00:06:01.26\00:06:02.59 it's been a couple of years since you've been here. But we 00:06:02.62\00:06:05.76 have Brock Meyer. How you doing Brock 00:06:05.83\00:06:07.16 I'm doing well. 00:06:07.20\00:06:08.53 All right. Praise the Lord. We're going to 00:06:08.56\00:06:09.90 come back in just a moment and talk about what each of your do 00:06:09.93\00:06:11.27 But I'm just kind of going down here. We have Brock Meyer 00:06:11.30\00:06:13.64 We have Dana Connell and then we also have Wils Teal. Wils 00:06:13.67\00:06:22.01 Teal. I love that name. And then we also have Miss Meredith Poole 00:06:22.04\00:06:25.01 It's a blessing to have each of you but last but not least we 00:06:25.05\00:06:28.98 have to introduce Minnie. We got Minnie with his food. Oh there 00:06:29.02\00:06:35.19 she is. It's a she, right? It's a she. Okay I want to make sure 00:06:35.22\00:06:36.99 we're correct on that. So just real quick, what does Minnie do? 00:06:37.03\00:06:39.66 Minnie is a search and rescue canine that goes out in 00:06:39.69\00:06:45.63 disasters and looks for missing or lost people, or even deceased 00:06:45.67\00:06:49.80 people if necessary. 00:06:49.84\00:06:51.17 Wow, praise the Lord for Minnie. Wow. Praise God. So you know 00:06:51.21\00:06:55.01 what there may be someone watching at home right now 00:06:55.04\00:06:57.41 that's never, ever heard of Gideon Rescue Company. 00:06:57.45\00:07:01.18 Brock, what is Gideon Rescue Company? 00:07:01.22\00:07:03.02 What do you guys do. Tell us a little bit 00:07:03.05\00:07:04.65 about the history and how it came about and all that. 00:07:04.69\00:07:06.59 We got our start back in college I took the degree 00:07:06.62\00:07:11.66 International Rescue and Relief from Union College. And from 00:07:11.69\00:07:14.26 that degree program we decided to carry forward that mission 00:07:14.30\00:07:16.87 endeavor to actually start a ministry and say we want this to 00:07:16.90\00:07:21.50 be a full commitment throughout all of our lives and invite 00:07:21.54\00:07:23.51 anybody who wanted to join that as well. And we're a disaster 00:07:23.54\00:07:27.08 response company but perhaps a disaster response company of a 00:07:27.11\00:07:28.94 little bit of a different nature because we recognize that not 00:07:28.98\00:07:32.18 only are the physical needs most important but there's even 00:07:32.21\00:07:35.58 a more important need and that is the spiritual need. And so we 00:07:35.62\00:07:39.75 are a gospel ministry reaching people in times of disaster 00:07:39.79\00:07:44.09 through the practical means that God gives us. 00:07:44.13\00:07:45.99 Right. That is so awesome. But there's probably someone right 00:07:46.03\00:07:48.90 now, I know I would probably think of this: Well wait a 00:07:48.93\00:07:51.93 second. The government has agencies. You know we have 00:07:51.97\00:07:55.54 different you know organizations for the government that does 00:07:55.57\00:07:58.61 this type of stuff so why do you guys go out and do this if you 00:07:58.64\00:08:01.34 already have that. What's the purpose that kind of sets you 00:08:01.38\00:08:03.65 apart from those agencies? 00:08:03.68\00:08:06.01 It's an excellent question and what really sets us apart is 00:08:06.05\00:08:10.05 that there are other organizations out there 00:08:10.09\00:08:11.42 that are much better equipped, much better organized in terms 00:08:11.45\00:08:14.49 of what they can handle on the humanitarian front. You have the 00:08:14.52\00:08:18.39 Red Cross, you have Samaritan's Purse, you have FEMA task force 00:08:18.43\00:08:21.60 teams here in the United States but what these other teams 00:08:21.63\00:08:25.10 especially the government teams the secular teams, what they 00:08:25.13\00:08:28.00 don't provide is that spiritual hope and the context for why 00:08:28.04\00:08:33.91 we're seeing these disasters occurring. They do their job and 00:08:33.94\00:08:37.31 they're very excellent with what they do, the professionals in 00:08:37.35\00:08:39.81 the highest sense, but in terms of giving people context for why 00:08:39.85\00:08:44.22 are we seeing these things and giving people hope to anchor 00:08:44.25\00:08:46.65 them in difficult times that's something that is not in their 00:08:46.69\00:08:50.39 job set or their skills. 00:08:50.43\00:08:51.76 I'm sure you get that question a lot in the line of work, why, 00:08:51.79\00:08:53.53 why does this happen? Why do these disasters come upon us? 00:08:53.56\00:08:57.57 Why does...I'm sure some people kind of you know who are caught 00:08:57.60\00:09:00.84 up in these things shake the fist at God and say Lord why 00:09:00.87\00:09:02.97 why did you allow this to happen So how do you respond to a 00:09:03.00\00:09:06.01 question like that? 00:09:06.04\00:09:07.38 What's also a developmental question in Gideon Rescue 00:09:07.41\00:09:10.75 itself, right? And the question sort of went like this. If we 00:09:10.78\00:09:13.68 know these things are going to be happening from God's word 00:09:13.72\00:09:16.58 what are we doing about it? 00:09:16.62\00:09:19.25 That's right. Absolutely. 00:09:19.29\00:09:21.56 Yeah and when people ask that question why, they're looking 00:09:21.59\00:09:26.19 for context. And oftentimes the you know the narrative is that 00:09:26.23\00:09:29.36 they have a misunderstanding that God is responsible for 00:09:29.40\00:09:32.00 these disasters. But the more that we respond and the more 00:09:32.03\00:09:35.80 stories that we encounter the more that we see the hand of God 00:09:35.84\00:09:38.47 at work, we can say absolutely that God is not responsible for 00:09:38.51\00:09:44.31 these disasters but that He allows them to happen because 00:09:44.35\00:09:46.25 He's so desperate. He wants to save as many as possible. So we 00:09:46.28\00:09:49.75 see the mercy of God, we see the hand of God but you also see the 00:09:49.78\00:09:53.36 judgment of God. You know like we're living in the judgment 00:09:53.39\00:09:56.19 hour. So this is a solemn time for all humanity to recognize 00:09:56.22\00:09:59.16 that there are things that we must understand in our 00:09:59.19\00:10:01.83 relationship with God because Jesus is coming soon. And so 00:10:01.86\00:10:05.90 because we have coming King what does that mean in terms of the 00:10:05.93\00:10:09.67 weight that it has on our lives and how we're living the lives. 00:10:09.70\00:10:11.57 So specifically what do you do for Gideon Rescue. Do you all 00:10:11.61\00:10:15.54 do the same thing or do you have specific jobs that you do 00:10:15.58\00:10:19.81 individually. How does that work? 00:10:19.85\00:10:21.18 We do have different jobs and different roles. I'm a member 00:10:21.22\00:10:25.32 of Gideon Rescue Company and you know Dana here has been a real 00:10:25.35\00:10:29.46 blessing in helping us just make incredible connections in the 00:10:29.49\00:10:32.19 community post-disaster and so we've called her our clincher. 00:10:32.23\00:10:35.83 She comes in a lot of times and really works with people and 00:10:35.86\00:10:39.60 solidifies those relationships those connections that we've had 00:10:39.63\00:10:41.84 She also attended Union College so I've know her for a time. And 00:10:41.87\00:10:47.84 Wils is a contractor by trade but he's also trained as a swift 00:10:47.88\00:10:51.41 water rescue technician as well as a boat rescue operator as 00:10:51.45\00:10:56.89 well as a canine search and rescue handler... 00:10:56.92\00:10:59.05 And I know how to make peanut butter and jelly sandwiches. 00:10:59.09\00:11:03.29 Oh, you knew it. He had it on his face. You just look like 00:11:03.32\00:11:06.39 some bread and some peanut butter guy. 00:11:06.43\00:11:09.36 And then Meredith as well. She's one of our search and rescue 00:11:09.40\00:11:12.73 handlers but she performs many roles and many tasks, no pun 00:11:12.77\00:11:17.27 intended for Minnie but she's a blessing to have on the team 00:11:17.31\00:11:19.77 as well. 00:11:19.81\00:11:21.14 Amen, amen. Praise God, praise God. You know what you guys do 00:11:21.18\00:11:25.68 is dangerous and it seems risky. So just kind of talk about that 00:11:25.71\00:11:29.48 I mean because I mean you're going on these disaster scenes 00:11:29.52\00:11:33.39 and who knows what kind of situation you're going to run 00:11:33.42\00:11:35.32 into. Talk about some of the disasters, some of the risks, 00:11:35.36\00:11:37.96 some of the dangers that you've run into on the job because I 00:11:37.99\00:11:41.76 know if I'm watching this at home I'm wondering you know... 00:11:41.80\00:11:43.77 Talk a little bit about that. Give us details about what do 00:11:43.80\00:11:46.90 you guys deal with, you know, on the job when you're actually 00:11:46.94\00:11:49.74 on-site and you're getting your hands dirty and you're in there 00:11:49.77\00:11:54.04 working with people or working in a, you know, post-disaster 00:11:54.08\00:11:57.05 situation. 00:11:57.08\00:11:58.71 So risk is inherent to what we do. Risk is inherent to anything 00:11:58.75\00:12:03.05 you do. But it is especially multiplied in the disaster scene 00:12:03.08\00:12:07.06 for sure. This is why training is important. This is why 00:12:07.09\00:12:10.86 situational awareness is important. But at the same time 00:12:10.89\00:12:14.36 what did God risk in coming to this planet? Everything. 00:12:14.40\00:12:19.00 What did the apostles risk in sharing the gospel message 00:12:19.03\00:12:22.94 with the world? 00:12:22.97\00:12:24.31 Everything. And so risk is not a limiter for us. It is something 00:12:24.34\00:12:29.78 that we're aware of and that we try to manage as best as 00:12:29.81\00:12:31.98 possible. But at the end of the day, yes, there is risk involved 00:12:32.01\00:12:35.42 The helicopter upon which we're riding could crash, you know. 00:12:35.45\00:12:38.25 The chainsaw which you are wielding could cut through your 00:12:38.29\00:12:40.52 leg. You know. But these are risks that we're willing to take 00:12:40.56\00:12:44.63 onto ourselves so that others can live. But it's not also as 00:12:44.66\00:12:51.10 risky as sometimes you think. Because there are many 00:12:51.13\00:12:53.67 opportunities to serve in the disaster zone. You don't have to 00:12:53.70\00:12:57.47 just be the ultimate search and rescue dog handler. You have an 00:12:57.51\00:13:02.04 opportunity if you can hand somebody a cup of cold water 00:13:02.08\00:13:04.15 in Jesus' name then it's an incredible way to be able to 00:13:04.18\00:13:08.32 minister the gospel. And so there are many roles that can be 00:13:08.35\00:13:13.19 fulfilled with much less degrees of risk. 00:13:13.22\00:13:15.96 I mean certainly, it's a romantic thing to go there and 00:13:15.99\00:13:19.29 be in the midst of all the chaos with the wind swirling and trees 00:13:19.33\00:13:22.53 falling and you know floods swelling in the river, you know, 00:13:22.56\00:13:28.50 in the street so to speak. But ultimately we get there at the 00:13:28.54\00:13:30.87 point of aftermath where, yeah, there is some electrical line 00:13:30.91\00:13:33.98 that potentially could be in the water. We do train for those 00:13:34.01\00:13:39.31 types of things. But a lot of times are you ready, are you 00:13:39.35\00:13:42.75 willing to go and minister to the people that you meet. So 00:13:42.78\00:13:48.62 Gideon rescue is more like a fast response team right? But 00:13:48.66\00:13:54.03 the most important part of it is to have people continue to come 00:13:54.06\00:14:00.24 and minister to the people that are hurting. They need stamina 00:14:00.27\00:14:04.01 to get through the next six months, right? And they're not 00:14:04.04\00:14:07.51 going to get through the next six months if the Lord doesn't 00:14:07.54\00:14:11.85 come before then without spiritual help. 00:14:11.88\00:14:15.38 Sure, sure, absolutely. That's amazing. So I'm going to put, if 00:14:15.42\00:14:18.19 it's okay, I'm going to put Dana on the spot here. Dana you kind 00:14:18.22\00:14:21.66 of briefly mentioned what you do but what's it like for you in 00:14:21.69\00:14:24.29 what you do for Gideon Rescue and how God uses you through 00:14:24.33\00:14:27.36 Gideon Rescue? 00:14:27.40\00:14:28.73 Yeah, it's a great question. I'm still figuring this out so 00:14:28.76\00:14:31.53 Mayfield, Kentucky was my second response. My first response was 00:14:31.57\00:14:34.97 in Iowa with the derecho that came through that and the 00:14:35.00\00:14:39.04 hurricane that took out 10 million acres worth of crops, 00:14:39.07\00:14:40.58 brought down trees. But I was 10 days late arriving. 00:14:40.61\00:14:43.45 I couldn't make it there for 10 days and by then they were gone. 00:14:43.48\00:14:46.35 And there was another person flying in as a volunteer because 00:14:46.38\00:14:50.15 these volunteer just hear and want to come. And what I was 00:14:50.19\00:14:53.15 was assisting on the ground for that was the city leaders were 00:14:53.19\00:14:56.46 wanting people to go door to door and check in on their 00:14:56.49\00:14:59.63 citizens because you're in the midst of COVID, you're in the 00:14:59.66\00:15:02.43 of an epidemic or a higher number of suicides in that area 00:15:02.46\00:15:07.30 and especially with these crops and farmers years in a row just 00:15:07.34\00:15:10.07 struggling so I was like literature evangelist skills 00:15:10.11\00:15:15.74 to the rescue. Like I can make a survey I can check in on the 00:15:15.78\00:15:18.75 mental health of these citizens. I can offer my pastoral 00:15:18.78\00:15:21.95 skills and sit 00:15:21.98\00:15:23.65 there and do counseling, I can sit there and do Bible studies 00:15:23.69\00:15:26.25 in need be. But I was there facilitating other groups that 00:15:26.29\00:15:29.32 kept coming in connected with the Adventist Church. High 00:15:29.36\00:15:32.96 schools, different ministries. I was expecting to be there for 10 00:15:32.99\00:15:36.80 days myself but I ended up being there for nine months, two weeks 00:15:36.83\00:15:40.90 incremental at a time and I'm not done there yet. But I've 00:15:40.94\00:15:44.64 been doing Bible work and Bible studies and checking in on 00:15:44.67\00:15:48.04 people in the area so it's also grown me because I'm alone. 00:15:48.08\00:15:50.95 There's no church, there's nobody else around there so I've 00:15:50.98\00:15:54.98 been being stretched in my faith and my courage. Go knock on 00:15:55.02\00:15:58.49 those doors, go visit those farmers. So it's been beautiful 00:15:58.52\00:16:02.79 to check in on people and then follow up. In Kentucky, you know 00:16:02.82\00:16:06.63 I landed a few days later but again it's been more managing 00:16:06.66\00:16:09.56 the other volunteers that come in, but helping with debris 00:16:09.60\00:16:13.03 clean up and using my pastoral skills also to visit people who 00:16:13.07\00:16:16.60 had been survivors of the candle factory that was destroyed and 00:16:16.64\00:16:22.24 ministering to some of them and then can you go help this person 00:16:22.28\00:16:23.81 Hey, call this person. So being able to facilitate that, keeping 00:16:23.85\00:16:29.38 in touch with some of the people whose properties we did help who 00:16:29.42\00:16:32.22 were suicidal. There was one individual who was suicidal. So 00:16:32.25\00:16:36.62 God did amazing things to bring hope into his life through 00:16:36.66\00:16:38.66 disaster relief and debris clean up and through other students 00:16:38.69\00:16:42.43 singing Amazing Grace to him. And so I'm still in contact with 00:16:42.46\00:16:45.80 him. Our team is in contact with him. And I don't feel like I'm 00:16:45.83\00:16:48.70 done there. I have a real burden for grief ministry now in that 00:16:48.74\00:16:53.17 area. People have gone through trauma and gone through these 00:16:53.21\00:16:56.21 losses of loved ones in the various capacity. So I'm still 00:16:56.24\00:16:59.08 figuring out what can I do there while God has me on a pause in 00:16:59.11\00:17:02.78 Iowa because when I was going to head out back in July it was 00:17:02.82\00:17:05.92 like, wait. So He's had me do a lot of other things. And so I'm 00:17:05.95\00:17:08.76 just waiting. Okay, God. I go where He sends me, what He's 00:17:08.79\00:17:11.76 telling me to do. So it's just always fluid and moving. 00:17:11.79\00:17:14.13 So you sound like the jack of all trades over there. As you're 00:17:14.16\00:17:16.90 going through all of that I'm thinking Uh, the multiple part 00:17:16.93\00:17:19.60 series of everything you just mentioned. It's interesting in 00:17:19.63\00:17:22.70 what you were talking will come to my mind is Ministry of 00:17:22.74\00:17:25.37 Healing, p. 143, Christ's method alone will bring true success. 00:17:25.41\00:17:30.15 And that's exactly what you guys are doing is that you are 00:17:30.18\00:17:33.82 mingling with these people. You're ministering, you're 00:17:33.85\00:17:36.75 sympathizing with them and ministering to their needs. 00:17:36.79\00:17:38.15 You're gaining their confidence hopefully in the point that 00:17:38.19\00:17:43.26 through all of these, they will see the Jesus in you. They will 00:17:43.29\00:17:44.63 see what the Holy Spirit is doing through you guys and they 00:17:44.66\00:17:46.76 will desire to have what you have. That's powerful. 00:17:46.80\00:17:49.13 There's one more risk in the risk of experiencing a miracle 00:17:49.16\00:17:53.23 while you're there. 00:17:53.27\00:17:54.60 Oh wow. Of course, of course. And I'm sure you guys have seen 00:17:54.64\00:17:58.51 a lot of those. 00:17:58.54\00:18:01.94 That's the beauty because one of my neighbors when she heard 00:18:01.98\00:18:03.31 that I was going out to respond to Mayfield, she was like, wow 00:18:03.35\00:18:07.42 that must be such a sad work that you do. I'm like, you get 00:18:07.45\00:18:11.79 to see the collision of the horrific and the miraculous 00:18:11.82\00:18:15.79 You get to see the heart and the hands and the feet of God 00:18:15.82\00:18:18.49 running into the darkness and into the pain and to the tragedy 00:18:18.53\00:18:21.50 And that's what we get to see is the movement of God and 00:18:21.53\00:18:25.00 people seeing that. I just want to share real quick like even 00:18:25.03\00:18:28.34 one story in a neighborhood that was devastated, wealthy 00:18:28.37\00:18:31.27 neighborhood. The foundation of the house was here and across 00:18:31.31\00:18:35.28 the street is his home in pieces in rubble. And he told me when 00:18:35.31\00:18:39.48 he was sharing a bit of his story, he said we heard that 00:18:39.51\00:18:44.22 tornado coming and I said to my wife, they were in a closet in 00:18:44.25\00:18:47.46 the middle of their home. He's like, I hear it coming and the 00:18:47.49\00:18:51.19 next thing I said, it's here. And the next thing I knew we 00:18:51.23\00:18:53.83 were being launched from our home at 300 some miles an hour 00:18:53.86\00:18:57.30 and I looked across the street and there's a row of trees. And 00:18:57.33\00:19:00.40 I said, you mean to tell me that you were thrown from your home 00:19:00.44\00:19:02.50 at over 300 miles an hour and you missed every single one of 00:19:02.54\00:19:05.27 those trees and you landed safely and all you did was break 00:19:05.31\00:19:08.64 a few ribs. That was God! His wife's in the hospital with a 00:19:08.68\00:19:12.31 brain bleed. We were praying for her. We were praying and just 00:19:12.35\00:19:14.65 way we were able to help on that property and minister. But there 00:19:14.68\00:19:16.75 were people that didn't survive who were thrown 300 miles an 00:19:16.79\00:19:19.45 hour. But just so many stories of survival and of great loss 00:19:19.49\00:19:24.06 but of also seeing the hand of God and people recognizing that 00:19:24.09\00:19:28.63 angels must have been covering us because everything else in 00:19:28.66\00:19:30.90 our home is gone but we're alive and our child did not make a 00:19:30.93\00:19:34.40 noise throughout the whole thing 00:19:34.44\00:19:35.77 Amen, amen. That's powerful because as I'm hearing you all 00:19:35.80\00:19:40.71 say you know what you're doing and what this powerful ministry 00:19:40.74\00:19:42.78 Gideon Rescue Company does, you know I've been on scenes like 00:19:42.81\00:19:46.51 this. I've lived...I grew up in northeastern Arkansas where we 00:19:46.55\00:19:49.38 got tornadoes every year. I mean it's just a thing. But if you 00:19:49.42\00:19:54.46 want to see a time when people are really humble, open and 00:19:54.49\00:19:59.19 receptive to the word of God, to the speaking of the Holy Spirit, 00:19:59.23\00:20:02.96 it's when they're humbled in a situation like that, where their 00:20:03.00\00:20:06.94 life has been turned upside down in moments, in a day. They had 00:20:06.97\00:20:09.84 everything in one moment before and now they don't. Now they're 00:20:09.87\00:20:13.78 confused, they're asking questions, why, why has this 00:20:13.81\00:20:15.88 happened to me? But then you guys show up and you provide 00:20:15.91\00:20:18.61 answers because you show that God's still here and even in the 00:20:18.65\00:20:21.12 darkness he's still there. It's so exciting. Meredith you know 00:20:21.15\00:20:24.92 I want to ask you the same question because in all the line 00:20:24.95\00:20:28.19 of work that you do and all the experience that you have you 00:20:28.22\00:20:30.43 know-how was it for you working in this line of work, doing what 00:20:30.46\00:20:33.93 you do. You know what has God done for you? What have you 00:20:33.96\00:20:36.36 learned and what is it specifically that you do that 00:20:36.40\00:20:38.20 reaches people in this way? 00:20:38.23\00:20:42.40 Wow. Ah. The Lord has brought me a long way in the word of faith 00:20:42.44\00:20:48.31 you know. We at Gideon, we step out in faith. Not only do we 00:20:48.34\00:20:52.21 ask God do you 00:20:52.25\00:20:53.72 want us to even go to this disaster. You know we rely on 00:20:53.75\00:20:57.92 Him for everything. If we actually go, when we go, where 00:20:57.95\00:21:03.16 we go, who we need to be with. He's definitely...because 00:21:03.19\00:21:08.20 sometimes we don't know where we're going to stay, what we're 00:21:08.23\00:21:10.37 going to eat, what we're going to, you know nothing. So we 00:21:10.40\00:21:14.40 definitely depend on God and to me, I think that is huge 00:21:14.44\00:21:17.91 importance. He's taught me that we actually provide the hope, 00:21:17.94\00:21:23.41 the hope that people need t o hang on and...You know anybody 00:21:23.45\00:21:27.92 can do this. You don't need a skill set. You don't need to 00:21:27.95\00:21:30.19 have certifications like most of us have. Like Brock said you 00:21:30.22\00:21:34.22 just need to give water. You need to pray with somebody. If 00:21:34.26\00:21:36.42 you can pray with somebody you can do this. You know this is 00:21:36.46\00:21:39.33 just having a willing heart to give love to somebody in time of 00:21:39.36\00:21:43.87 need. You know and we go out with the dogs, we were able to 00:21:43.90\00:21:50.01 minister in Kentucky this last time with the dogs, our first 00:21:50.04\00:21:53.58 time actually getting to use the dogs. So God gave us this 00:21:53.61\00:21:57.15 opening wedge and I say we were with some FEMA people and some 00:21:57.18\00:22:04.15 other handlers and they asked well, who sent you? The state 00:22:04.19\00:22:08.12 sent me. Who sent you? And I said, God. 00:22:08.16\00:22:11.86 I can imagine the look on their faces. 00:22:11.89\00:22:14.53 Yeah, they kind of like just brushed me off like oh okay but 00:22:14.56\00:22:17.87 I hope that stuck in their mind. 00:22:17.90\00:22:19.23 Of course, of course, praise the Lord. You know you touched on 00:22:19.27\00:22:23.24 something there. Maybe Brock you can elaborate on this. There's 00:22:23.27\00:22:27.74 probably someone watching right now that says you know this is 00:22:27.78\00:22:29.88 awesome. I would love to do and participate in something like 00:22:29.91\00:22:32.31 this so who can do what you do? Who can participate in what you 00:22:32.35\00:22:36.42 guys do? 00:22:36.45\00:22:37.85 The harvest is great and the laborers are few. That's my 00:22:37.89\00:22:40.29 answer. And you know it really truly is as Meredith said is 00:22:40.32\00:22:45.13 that anybody can do what we do. We're nobody unique, nobody's 00:22:45.16\00:22:49.13 special other than that God has called us and put this burden on 00:22:49.16\00:22:51.87 our heart that there is a harvest field in disaster 00:22:51.90\00:22:54.90 response that is untapped. And when we say that the laborers 00:22:54.94\00:22:58.34 are few we literally mean that. The laborers are few that 00:22:58.37\00:23:02.08 understand this concept, you know the concept that time 00:23:02.11\00:23:04.55 is ticking, that time 00:23:04.58\00:23:05.91 is of the essence and we don't have much time left as a planet 00:23:05.95\00:23:10.19 corporately that now is the time to be moving and working and 00:23:10.22\00:23:14.72 laboring for God in reaching souls for this time. And so if 00:23:14.76\00:23:17.99 you have a burden, if God puts it on your heart and says be a 00:23:18.03\00:23:21.80 part in any way, training is easy. You know not too long 00:23:21.83\00:23:24.40 before this Meredith and Wils did not have any training in dog 00:23:24.43\00:23:29.17 handling. But God opened the door opened the opportunity for 00:23:29.20\00:23:32.51 them to do it and now they are full-fledged canine handlers. 00:23:32.54\00:23:35.24 Training is not difficult. What is difficult is finding a heart 00:23:35.28\00:23:39.51 and mind that is surrendered, willing to be moved by God and 00:23:39.55\00:23:43.18 used by God. So we don't actually recruit you know in 00:23:43.22\00:23:46.65 our ministry we don't try to find people. Our prayer is Lord 00:23:46.69\00:23:50.63 send us people. And so we allow God to hand pick the team just 00:23:50.66\00:23:53.43 like he did for Gideon. 00:23:53.46\00:23:54.80 And the beautiful part of it is that there's just so many 00:23:54.83\00:23:58.83 volunteers that come whatever their gift and skill set is. 00:23:58.87\00:24:01.04 It's just their heart is to volunteer and so even connected 00:24:01.07\00:24:03.54 with you. What are we doing? Well, do you have a chainsaw? 00:24:03.57\00:24:06.61 You can cut down the tree. If you can't cut down a tree you 00:24:06.64\00:24:08.34 can help clean up debris. If you can't help clean up debris which 00:24:08.38\00:24:12.45 most people can or use a rake, use your hands. Or talk to the 00:24:12.48\00:24:17.32 person on site. You can give literature, you can pray, you 00:24:17.35\00:24:21.02 can be at PODs, the points of distribution where all the 00:24:21.06\00:24:23.56 donations are coming in, where survivors and victims' come and 00:24:23.59\00:24:26.49 get nonperishables... 00:24:26.53\00:24:29.86 I want to tell a story of how we've seen time and time again 00:24:29.90\00:24:31.37 just like Dana's describing how God has tailored the mission to 00:24:31.40\00:24:35.64 the responder, right? Corrie's dad, his love language every 00:24:35.67\00:24:40.44 year was to give flashlights as gifts to family, to friends and 00:24:40.48\00:24:45.68 that was what he did. He'd find a really unique flashlight, 00:24:45.71\00:24:47.68 something really cool and that was what he loved to do. 00:24:47.72\00:24:49.85 Bizarre, weird, but loved it. That was...he found joy in it. 00:24:49.88\00:24:54.42 When they volunteered to come on was that Fultondale, Alabama? 00:24:54.46\00:24:58.63 No that was Cookeville, Tennessee. 00:24:58.66\00:25:00.46 Cookeville, Tennessee. They were at a point of distribution and 00:25:00.50\00:25:05.83 his dad and his mom and his father-in-law show up to come 00:25:05.87\00:25:09.84 and help. In the supplies that they were to hand out were just 00:25:09.87\00:25:15.78 boxes of flashlights and Corrie's dad got to pass out 00:25:15.81\00:25:21.28 flashlights. 00:25:21.32\00:25:22.65 Amen, amen, there's so much you can do. Like oh my goodness give 00:25:22.68\00:25:26.55 me a box of flashlights and how many object lessons I can use 00:25:26.59\00:25:30.36 for that. Here's you a light but there's an even greater Light. 00:25:30.39\00:25:32.83 Jesus Christ (Multiple voices) introduce you to. That's all 00:25:32.86\00:25:37.70 right. Praise the Lord. Folks, a flashlight can open up a door 00:25:37.73\00:25:41.40 for you to witness to someone of the gospel. 00:25:41.44\00:25:43.87 Praise the Lord. Praise God. You know, post-disaster you're 00:25:43.91\00:25:48.18 showing up on the scene. You might have actually touched on 00:25:48.21\00:25:51.08 this a little bit already, but maybe you can elaborate on the 00:25:51.11\00:25:54.05 greatest need when you go into a community or you go into a 00:25:54.08\00:25:57.02 place what are some of the greatest needs that you see you 00:25:57.05\00:25:59.75 know in a situation like that whatever the case may be, 00:25:59.79\00:26:01.86 tornado, hurricane, earthquake fire whatever type of scenario 00:26:01.89\00:26:06.70 you walk into. 00:26:06.73\00:26:08.43 So as humans, we're well aware of the hierarchy of needs. You 00:26:08.46\00:26:12.07 know, we need food, we need water, we need shelter. These 00:26:12.10\00:26:13.94 are things that keep us stable in life. But actually, there's a 00:26:13.97\00:26:17.71 greater need than just those basic needs. Because you can 00:26:17.74\00:26:21.31 live I mean weeks without food, you can go a few days without 00:26:21.34\00:26:25.78 water. You can even hold your breath for a few minutes. The 00:26:25.81\00:26:29.02 moment you give up hope the moment you're done. And we know 00:26:29.05\00:26:32.02 this. And so in any survival situation that is the greatest 00:26:32.05\00:26:36.39 need that you have in a survival moment is to hang onto hope. 00:26:36.42\00:26:39.73 And so it's no different. Disaster's just on a larger 00:26:39.76\00:26:43.67 scale. Now an entire community is faced with the question, in 00:26:43.70\00:26:47.47 what do they hope? And so we have an opportunity to provide 00:26:47.50\00:26:50.84 them with hope. Like if God has given us this hope, we have this 00:26:50.87\00:26:54.28 hope that burns within our hearts, right? That Jesus is 00:26:54.31\00:26:57.95 coming soon then why would we hold back in giving people the 00:26:57.98\00:27:01.38 greatest need that they have in a community? And so honestly the 00:27:01.42\00:27:04.35 answer is very simple. The greatest need that we have in 00:27:04.39\00:27:07.46 post disaster is hope. 00:27:07.49\00:27:09.89 And that...Honestly, I wasn't expecting that answer for a 00:27:09.92\00:27:12.83 moment but it makes perfect sense, it makes perfect sense. 00:27:12.86\00:27:14.93 In a situation like that people losing homes, losing family 00:27:14.96\00:27:18.40 members, going through the most horrific experiences a person 00:27:18.43\00:27:22.94 could possibly imagine. It's so easy to lose hope. 00:27:22.97\00:27:25.64 It's so overwhelming. When you show up in a disaster zone and 00:27:25.67\00:27:28.81 you are confronted with what looks like Hiroshima and 00:27:28.84\00:27:31.38 Nagasaki, like where, do you start? Where do you begin? 00:27:31.41\00:27:35.08 And then the questions come to your mind...Physically what I am 00:27:35.12\00:27:39.72 doing is this really making a difference? Right? And even if 00:27:39.75\00:27:42.56 you had an army you know of tractors and people and all 00:27:42.59\00:27:46.66 these things, still it would take you years to put these 00:27:46.70\00:27:49.40 communities back together again. But here's the real issue is 00:27:49.43\00:27:52.17 that if you connect people with Jesus then post disaster when 00:27:52.20\00:27:57.34 they're struggling through the aftermath of the disaster, 00:27:57.37\00:28:00.34 they're in shell shock immediately afterward. 00:28:00.38\00:28:01.91 But the many months and years that it takes to try to put your 00:28:01.94\00:28:05.35 life back together who's going to be there to hold them. We can 00:28:05.38\00:28:08.38 only be there for a couple of weeks maybe. Maybe we can spend 00:28:08.42\00:28:11.39 some extra time if we keep people in the field, right? 00:28:11.42\00:28:14.16 for months afterward to try to work with people but at 00:28:14.19\00:28:16.56 the same time who is ultimately going to be able to carry them 00:28:16.59\00:28:18.69 through that difficulty? 00:28:18.73\00:28:20.06 We watched that physically happen in Belle Plaine when we 00:28:20.10\00:28:22.56 first got there. I mean, one farmer, in particular, Dana 00:28:22.60\00:28:26.37 had a chance to work with, our farmer at our school in Ardmore 00:28:26.40\00:28:29.97 he got a chance to work with this guy one on one. I remember 00:28:30.01\00:28:35.21 Brock talking to this guy and he was about catatonic. He was just 00:28:35.24\00:28:37.61 blown away by what had transpired in a matter of hours 00:28:37.65\00:28:43.08 to his property, locked him in, devastated his crop, he was just 00:28:43.12\00:28:49.26 and as we were speaking to him something sparked in him 00:28:49.29\00:28:53.53 about a farmer, right? That was the first spark, a little 00:28:53.56\00:28:58.33 synaptic fire and somehow our farmer, God connected our farmer 00:28:58.37\00:29:00.90 with him and we told him we're going to come back. We're going 00:29:00.94\00:29:04.91 come back. We're going to bring fuel so you don't have to worry 00:29:04.94\00:29:08.04 about the electricity and the pump. And it took a while for 00:29:08.08\00:29:10.68 that to dawn on him as we were looking for containers to put 00:29:10.71\00:29:13.45 fuel in to bring back to him and suddenly something snapped. 00:29:13.48\00:29:16.42 Because I was watching the whole thing and his shoulders squared 00:29:16.45\00:29:20.32 up and he began to just kind of come to and showed us a couple 00:29:20.36\00:29:25.59 of buckets. The next morning he was waiting for us there at 9 00:29:25.63\00:29:29.30 a.m. And we brought not just us but 27 students from Union 00:29:29.33\00:29:34.74 College, right? And at that point there was a whole 00:29:34.77\00:29:38.24 different body language in him. But then come the questions. 00:29:38.27\00:29:42.34 Why do you do this? Because they were at the point of being 00:29:42.38\00:29:47.38 catatonic and it was the first few moments of that interaction 00:29:47.42\00:29:51.52 to go hey we're here to help. We're here to help. And then to 00:29:51.55\00:29:54.99 have an answer of we came here because of the love of Jesus 00:29:55.02\00:29:58.26 Christ. 00:29:58.29\00:29:59.63 In fact, if we can maybe queue the video for the Union College 00:29:59.66\00:30:03.70 students. I know we have some pictures but if we can skip just 00:30:03.73\00:30:05.77 to the Union College students to start, that would be a good 00:30:05.80\00:30:09.50 place to start in some of these stories that we want to share. 00:30:09.54\00:30:11.81 So this is Union College. This is actually at that farmer's 00:30:11.84\00:30:16.61 house. So you can imagine who's lost everything all of a sudden 00:30:16.64\00:30:20.52 sees 30 young people show up in his yard he's like who are you 00:30:20.55\00:30:24.22 guys and where are you from and why do you care about me? And so 00:30:24.25\00:30:28.09 it's an incredible point to say Brother, God cares for you, 00:30:28.12\00:30:32.13 right? He cares for you. This is why we're here. And so that 00:30:32.16\00:30:35.03 paradigm shift when you see people awaken to the possibility 00:30:35.06\00:30:37.53 that God cares for them and God has not abandoned them, God has 00:30:37.57\00:30:41.04 not caused this disaster it's absolutely incredible. And as we 00:30:41.07\00:30:46.34 we're moving through you know Belle Plaine, Iowa there's 00:30:46.37\00:30:48.34 another picture here that we have of a tree that is on a 00:30:48.38\00:30:50.98 house. And it was just an incredible moment in time 00:30:51.01\00:30:56.38 where you see this incredible massive tree. You can't even see 00:30:56.42\00:31:01.46 the house. And so Wils and I had actually walked to this 00:31:01.49\00:31:04.49 gentleman's house and he was completely handicapped, broken, 00:31:04.53\00:31:07.23 had actually tried to climb up in his tree, fallen out of his 00:31:07.26\00:31:09.63 tree, broken a bunch of bones, was in the hospital, had just 00:31:09.66\00:31:11.97 been released and here's where we meet him in his brokenness. 00:31:12.00\00:31:13.77 And he says, please if you can just get the tree off of my 00:31:13.80\00:31:16.40 house I would be eternally grateful. And if you can't do 00:31:16.44\00:31:18.71 that, if you can just patch my roof because it put a huge hole. 00:31:18.74\00:31:22.41 He said if you can just patch my roof so when it rains it doesn't 00:31:22.44\00:31:24.28 rain on us, I'd be eternally grateful. So this is our mission 00:31:24.31\00:31:26.85 We're like okay we're on it, right. And when we climbed up 00:31:26.88\00:31:29.35 there we assessed it, we've got some skill sets, how to cut 00:31:29.38\00:31:32.89 trees and use some ropes and things, it was impossible, just 00:31:32.92\00:31:35.32 absolutely impossible... 00:31:35.36\00:31:36.69 There was a rope we had to cut off. We couldn't top rope. 00:31:36.73\00:31:39.39 So here we end up patching his roof, we could do that. And 00:31:39.43\00:31:43.03 we're sitting there at the bottom of the house kind of in 00:31:43.06\00:31:45.10 this deflated moment... 00:31:45.13\00:31:46.47 While the tree is still in the house? 00:31:46.50\00:31:48.80 The tree is still in the house. 00:31:48.84\00:31:50.47 You were able to patch it off but it was still... 00:31:50.51\00:31:52.14 We cut the limb off. The tree's still there, but we cut the limb 00:31:52.17\00:31:54.41 off and we patched the hole underneath the tree over us. 00:31:54.44\00:31:58.81 And as we're standing there up walks this gentleman and he just 00:31:58.85\00:32:02.38 says, Do you guys need a crane? And it was like, well of course 00:32:02.42\00:32:07.96 we need a crane. And we have a picture of the crane that shows 00:32:07.99\00:32:11.69 up. It's a million-dollar piece of equipment, it was nothing 00:32:11.73\00:32:15.66 that we could have afforded (multiple voices) and he 00:32:15.70\00:32:19.07 actually said, Okay I want to dedicate this crane for the use 00:32:19.10\00:32:22.14 of the gospel for the next five days. I'm going to work with 00:32:22.17\00:32:24.27 your team. Let's just go through and let's smash trees off of 00:32:24.31\00:32:27.61 houses. And so now we had Union College, we had the crane and 00:32:27.64\00:32:30.91 the kids, the students, when they saw the miracles of God 00:32:30.95\00:32:33.75 right, and there's a lot on the line. It's not just for the 00:32:33.78\00:32:36.89 community but for our young people even our young people in 00:32:36.92\00:32:39.65 our own schools, they struggle with faith. They struggle with 00:32:39.69\00:32:42.56 is God still the same God of the Bible. When you see those 00:32:42.59\00:32:45.99 miracles, when you see Him at work. So we had promised them 00:32:46.03\00:32:49.00 before we even had the crane, we said, Listen guys just wait 00:32:49.03\00:32:51.90 around a minute. God's going to show up in a big way. And then 00:32:51.93\00:32:54.80 we're off praying saying, Lord you got to show up, right? So 00:32:54.84\00:32:58.37 then when you see this crane they're floored. We have a 00:32:58.41\00:33:00.94 testimony of a young lady from Union College and listen to what 00:33:00.98\00:33:04.28 she has to say. (Oh powerful, Yeah) Listen to what she has 00:33:04.31\00:33:06.28 to say. 00:33:06.31\00:33:07.98 Tell me what has been one of your highlights. I know driving 00:33:08.02\00:33:13.72 the crane is a high light but tell me you highlight from this 00:33:13.76\00:33:17.79 trip that meant something to you 00:33:17.83\00:33:20.30 I think see how everybody (noise interference) from especially 00:33:20.33\00:33:26.03 Gideon's like this...God's got it Like it's not us, it's God. 00:33:26.07\00:33:36.24 And like people saw like the first miracle and they were like 00:33:36.28\00:33:38.38 wait, what? And then they saw the second and the third and the 00:33:38.41\00:33:42.22 fourth and the fifth...and just thousands of things that have 00:33:42.25\00:33:45.35 happened that have been crazy. And like it spread like that and 00:33:45.39\00:33:49.12 it multiplied so quickly because that's contagious faith, like 00:33:49.16\00:33:51.93 that's what that was. Like you guys brought something as we had 00:33:51.96\00:33:56.40 the spirit of like excitement and service and like we just 00:33:56.43\00:34:00.30 latched onto that and I've seen people because I work in campus 00:34:00.34\00:34:03.64 ministry at Union so I've like talked to a lot. I work in core 00:34:03.67\00:34:07.88 groups, people connecting in communities because that's where 00:34:07.91\00:34:10.91 you experience God you know. So I've worked with a lot of 00:34:10.95\00:34:14.28 people and I know a lot of these and like not all of them are 00:34:14.32\00:34:18.62 like super tight with God you know. Not all of them like take 00:34:18.65\00:34:22.26 the time every day to spend, spend time with Him. But I've 00:34:22.29\00:34:27.30 seen people like praying. They're like dude let's pray 00:34:27.33\00:34:30.47 about this. Like people that never ever been someone who 00:34:30.50\00:34:33.70 would have said that before. I'm like just seeing how this 00:34:33.74\00:34:38.11 trip and the faith of the people around them has strengthened 00:34:38.14\00:34:41.98 their faith. And now they can go strengthen other people's faith. 00:34:42.01\00:34:44.18 And it just keep growing and spreading. I think that's been 00:34:44.21\00:34:47.75 for sure the coolest thing. 00:34:47.78\00:34:51.19 Oh my goodness! I'm getting on fire watching that video. That 00:34:51.22\00:34:56.39 young lady's just on fire for the Lord. That's powerful to see 00:34:56.42\00:35:00.03 because you get young people involved in something like this 00:35:00.06\00:35:02.73 and you see God show up and show out and show them that I'm still 00:35:02.76\00:35:07.60 here. And now...I have a heart for our young people because our 00:35:07.64\00:35:10.87 young people are drifting. It seems like the devil's just got 00:35:10.91\00:35:13.31 so many distractions for them all over the place but God is 00:35:13.34\00:35:16.85 using Gideon Rescue to reach these young people and at first 00:35:16.88\00:35:21.58 I'm sure for them if probably seems like, Oh it's a job right? 00:35:21.62\00:35:24.12 We got to go clean up this and clean up that and go pick up the 00:35:24.15\00:35:27.16 sticks and go...But you know in the process God is revealing 00:35:27.19\00:35:30.73 Himself to them. That is just amazing. Praise the Lord! 00:35:30.76\00:35:34.03 Praise the Lord. 00:35:34.06\00:35:35.40 And you know in Iowa we quickly realized. We had no idea why we 00:35:35.43\00:35:38.13 were in Iowa. The only reason we actually at first had come to 00:35:38.17\00:35:40.74 Iowa is because my wife follows the social media feed on a lady 00:35:40.77\00:35:44.81 that does a really nice arrangement of her home 00:35:44.84\00:35:46.78 just kind of decoration stuff and she had put out on her feed 00:35:46.81\00:35:52.41 that her town was devastated and there was no help coming. That 00:35:52.45\00:35:54.12 was the only reason that we should maybe show up in Belle 00:35:54.15\00:35:56.95 Plaine. There was no government agency there. We were the only 00:35:56.99\00:36:02.09 response team that ended upcoming into Belle Plaine 00:36:02.12\00:36:06.06 officially. And so here we are with this community. It feels 00:36:06.09\00:36:08.30 like they've been forgotten by the world. This was right in the 00:36:08.33\00:36:09.66 mid-term...I mean this was right in the presidential election, so 00:36:09.70\00:36:13.50 all the news feeds have nothing to do with what's happening in 00:36:13.54\00:36:15.60 Iowa and people feel really forgotten. And so when we show 00:36:15.64\00:36:18.81 up here this town, it was incredible because they actually 00:36:18.84\00:36:25.28 struggle with an epidemic of suicide like what Dana pointed 00:36:25.31\00:36:27.12 out and incredibly heartbreaking stories where you could see that 00:36:27.15\00:36:32.09 devil was just intent on destroying people left and right 00:36:32.12\00:36:35.92 And we came across with the students. In working in the 00:36:35.96\00:36:40.90 community we found this one house in which this gentleman 00:36:40.93\00:36:43.26 had lost not one but two sons to suicide and he was absolutely 00:36:43.30\00:36:49.64 devastated. And we gathered all those Union College students and 00:36:49.67\00:36:52.37 those Union College students sang It Is Well With My Soul on 00:36:52.41\00:36:56.51 his porch and this man and his wife were in tears. They were 00:36:56.54\00:37:01.05 like who are you guys and why are you here and why do you even 00:37:01.08\00:37:03.55 care. Why do you even know that we've had this incredible 00:37:03.59\00:37:06.65 tragedy. And here God has placed us in this moment for this 00:37:06.69\00:37:10.36 family for this reason. And we have a video of his testimony 00:37:10.39\00:37:13.56 sharing his experience. 00:37:13.60\00:37:14.93 Yeah, my name is Scott Jance and these wonderful people showed up 00:37:14.96\00:37:24.34 at my door to help with the storm damage. They heard the 00:37:24.37\00:37:31.41 story of my wife Jane and I losing our son July 30th to 00:37:31.45\00:37:34.85 suicide. That's our second son in three years. And they just 00:37:34.88\00:37:43.29 come out of the woodwork from all over to help us clean this 00:37:43.32\00:37:45.99 mess up and led us to try to continue on with our lives and 00:37:46.03\00:37:52.50 grieve a little bit and we haven't even had time to think 00:37:52.53\00:37:54.77 of it. I don't know what I'd do without them because I know I 00:37:54.80\00:37:59.07 couldn't get this done myself. My friends in town have helped 00:37:59.11\00:38:02.54 everybody has helped us. There's a lot to be said for a small 00:38:02.58\00:38:06.51 community and this world's not all bad for sure and it takes 00:38:06.55\00:38:13.49 everybody coming together to make it better. This has helped 00:38:13.52\00:38:16.73 a ton and I appreciate everything. Thank you very much. 00:38:16.76\00:38:19.59 Wow. That's amazing. In the midst of horror he could still 00:38:19.63\00:38:25.33 say this world's not all that bad. 00:38:25.37\00:38:29.00 Wow! That's hope. 00:38:29.04\00:38:30.37 Say what you just said to me. 00:38:30.41\00:38:31.74 That's hope. He's hanging onto hope. The paradigm is shifting 00:38:31.77\00:38:34.88 for him. The darkest moment where he needs God like never 00:38:34.91\00:38:39.11 before God shows up in a personal way. He says Scott I 00:38:39.15\00:38:42.38 haven't forgotten about you. Scott, I love you. Scott, I love 00:38:42.42\00:38:45.45 so much I've sent an entire team to you to minister to you. Don't 00:38:45.49\00:38:49.92 give up hope. Don't give up hope 00:38:49.96\00:38:52.49 That's right. In the darkest of times, I heard a quote. Can't 00:38:52.53\00:38:56.36 remember specifically where it said but it's in the darkest 00:38:56.40\00:38:59.03 hours that God is there in the darkness more than any other 00:38:59.07\00:39:03.77 place right at times that you don't think He's there. And the 00:39:03.81\00:39:06.04 times it seems that God is silent and He's not responding. 00:39:06.07\00:39:08.91 He's there. And this is proof of it. Proof of it. Powerful. 00:39:08.94\00:39:13.45 It's almost a childlike game for us because we are so giddy when 00:39:13.48\00:39:16.79 we see hope come back in that we just want to experience it again 00:39:16.82\00:39:19.15 and again. So there's a selfish aspect of it. 00:39:19.19\00:39:23.53 A little bit of a good addiction a good addiction. Oh praise the 00:39:23.56\00:39:28.30 Lord. 00:39:28.33\00:39:29.66 I just wanted to comment on that also on two fronts. Because for 00:39:29.70\00:39:33.03 me, growing in faith. Because we who understand Bible prophecy 00:39:33.07\00:39:36.00 know that things are going to continue to spiral in this world 00:39:36.04\00:39:39.24 And so even growing in boldness and declaring that. We spoke 00:39:39.27\00:39:43.65 with one of the leaders of the city and just sharing like you 00:39:43.68\00:39:48.12 know this storm was horrible. But part of it is God's mercy to 00:39:48.15\00:39:52.45 waken you in this community to let you know that He's coming 00:39:52.49\00:39:56.69 soon. And He wants you to understand. He brought us to 00:39:56.73\00:40:01.70 share not only to help now but to help you have an 00:40:01.73\00:40:03.47 understanding of these things to come so that you can be prepared 00:40:03.50\00:40:07.34 for those things. You can prepare your community and your 00:40:07.37\00:40:11.41 families for those things. And it's like, great, I believe that 00:40:11.44\00:40:14.54 Tell me what I need to know. And another thing just of being 00:40:14.58\00:40:19.11 in that community one of the testimonies of a believer and 00:40:19.15\00:40:23.12 she said you know of the team coming in and the college 00:40:23.15\00:40:26.25 students because she's like it's been a long time since our 00:40:26.29\00:40:30.16 community felt that love. We just felt love. And the 00:40:30.19\00:40:34.20 happiness and the joy that these students came and they served 00:40:34.23\00:40:37.87 with us like it's been a long time since we felt this love. 00:40:37.90\00:40:41.20 Praise God, praise God. 00:40:41.24\00:40:42.57 You know we see this in every disaster that we've gone to 00:40:42.60\00:40:46.17 which are many and I know in Lake Charles, we had a point of 00:40:46.21\00:40:50.58 distribution. We had people just rolling up and when we started 00:40:50.61\00:40:56.28 to pray with them they would literally, just break down. It's 00:40:56.32\00:40:58.95 like we said before people don't know how much they needed that 00:40:58.99\00:41:03.06 prayer and how much they needed to realize you know God loves 00:41:03.09\00:41:06.19 you. God's here for you. And He's not left you. He will not 00:41:06.23\00:41:10.30 leave you or forsake you. 00:41:10.33\00:41:11.67 In fact, we have a picture of some soldiers, this picture with 00:41:11.70\00:41:14.57 soldiers right because people ask us a lot, they say well what 00:41:14.60\00:41:18.11 resources do you have, and safety is a big concern. 00:41:18.14\00:41:20.24 If you ask the 00:41:20.28\00:41:21.61 question about risk people say well you're going to dangerous 00:41:21.64\00:41:24.05 positions. Don't you know that you need security with you? 00:41:24.08\00:41:25.58 And what's amazing is that when we need security God provides it 00:41:25.61\00:41:30.42 (Multiple voices) And in this picture you have these soldiers 00:41:30.45\00:41:32.89 who are armed to the teeth right with their weapons. And was the 00:41:32.92\00:41:36.49 beautiful thing about that picture is they actually laid 00:41:36.52\00:41:41.86 down their weapons and they started praying with people 00:41:41.90\00:41:44.90 and handing out Glow tracts and literature and they were in 00:41:44.93\00:41:48.24 tears, in tears, because the hand of God was moving on their 00:41:48.27\00:41:51.84 hearts and they were being ministered to. They said we came 00:41:51.87\00:41:55.54 here for mercenary contract to protect some facility and it 00:41:55.58\00:41:58.38 fell through and now we are with you guys and this is incredible. 00:41:58.41\00:42:01.42 So on all levels, God is interested in reaching 00:42:01.45\00:42:04.02 hearts and minds. And so wherever we've gone around the 00:42:04.05\00:42:06.55 world, even some of these other pictures that we would show God 00:42:06.59\00:42:09.66 has been just moving, moving because these disaster zones are 00:42:09.69\00:42:13.29 ripe for the harvest. (Right of course). 00:42:13.33\00:42:15.33 I remember a story real quick. It was in the south. I wasn't on 00:42:15.36\00:42:19.17 that trip but I remember hearing that Brock was diligent to try 00:42:19.20\00:42:25.47 and help this home. And the people were like no, no, no, we 00:42:25.51\00:42:28.64 don't need your help. But Brock was persistent and he was able 00:42:28.68\00:42:31.21 to help. He was able to take some trees off and I think it 00:42:31.25\00:42:34.08 was the next day when you guys were in the same community and 00:42:34.12\00:42:37.09 this man, the husband, the father of the home came out and 00:42:37.12\00:42:40.99 found you and he said I had a dream last night and God told me 00:42:41.02\00:42:46.36 to stay connected with you because you know him. (Wow!) 00:42:46.39\00:42:50.47 That's right. That's right. 00:42:50.50\00:42:52.07 That's amazing. You know people hear stories like this and think 00:42:52.10\00:42:54.17 ah that's kind of far fetched but this kind of stuff happens 00:42:54.20\00:42:56.17 all the time. The Holy Spirit is at work and what these guys are 00:42:56.20\00:43:00.28 doing, the Gideon Rescue Company is just powerful my 00:43:00.31\00:43:03.61 friends. And this is what ministry is about. This is... 00:43:03.65\00:43:07.35 He just needs willing vessels is all and here's the other side 00:43:07.38\00:43:11.72 that it doesn't just stop there if you have been a victim or a 00:43:11.75\00:43:16.12 patient or someone who's been hurt because when we were in 00:43:16.16\00:43:19.23 Mayfield just recently with the dogs we're working with these 00:43:19.26\00:43:22.16 agencies and these agencies had these nurses, these paramedics, 00:43:22.20\00:43:26.30 these policemen. Their distress is evident for the people and 00:43:26.33\00:43:31.84 what's going on? And for us to bring the dogs through and go 00:43:31.87\00:43:34.81 ahead and verify that there are no remains in the area, that 00:43:34.84\00:43:38.31 there are no missing, that there are no dead was a huge lift off 00:43:38.35\00:43:42.95 their shoulders. And then comes the conversations with some of 00:43:42.98\00:43:45.85 the emergency room people that were there. I've seen the 00:43:45.89\00:43:51.33 emergency room so full and them having questions in their head 00:43:51.36\00:43:54.00 and then them turning to us and asking who are you guys and why 00:43:54.03\00:43:57.47 do you do what you do? We explain to them our whole 00:43:57.50\00:44:00.64 purpose is to minister the gospel of Jesus Christ and 00:44:00.67\00:44:03.74 suddenly there's questions about why these things are happening. 00:44:03.77\00:44:05.91 So it isn't just about the victims. Also, our call is to 00:44:05.94\00:44:10.91 meet people where they're at and give them hope too. 00:44:10.95\00:44:14.15 I have to respond to that point Wils. You're exactly right that 00:44:14.18\00:44:18.05 it's not just about the victims themselves but it's actually 00:44:18.09\00:44:21.12 about the responders and those that are there. There's this 00:44:21.16\00:44:23.59 incredible story that comes to us from Haiti. Our team was in 00:44:23.63\00:44:25.96 Haiti after the earthquake after the earthquake this last year 00:44:25.99\00:44:28.00 and we have a video of a Black Hawk helicopter. I just want to 00:44:28.03\00:44:32.40 show you some of the resources that God pours out for the 00:44:32.43\00:44:33.84 success of the mission, right? The governments of men are 00:44:33.87\00:44:38.24 subject to God when He deems it for His will, right? And so this 00:44:38.27\00:44:42.58 story is incredible because we actually got to ride...our team 00:44:42.61\00:44:46.31 was all placed on this helicopter because of a 00:44:46.35\00:44:50.49 spiritual golden hour moment that we had with Commander 00:44:50.52\00:44:51.85 Shepherd. And we walked into the airport there in Haiti and 00:44:51.89\00:44:54.62 Commander Shepherd is sitting there and he didn't even know 00:44:54.66\00:44:57.23 who we were or what we were about. He just saw our team from 00:44:57.26\00:44:59.63 a distance and said Hey I need to speak to you guys for a 00:44:59.66\00:45:01.96 moment. He pulled us aside and he said listen will you guys 00:45:02.00\00:45:06.57 pray with me. He said I just want to tell you that I've been 00:45:06.60\00:45:08.87 here for a long time with this response already. He was already 00:45:08.90\00:45:12.57 there a week I think on the ground and he said it's been 00:45:12.61\00:45:15.74 really intense and he said I had a really close colleague 00:45:15.78\00:45:17.31 that had a medical emergency, he had a stroke. He said we had to 00:45:17.35\00:45:20.52 Medivac him and send him back to Florida. I just got news that 00:45:20.55\00:45:23.05 he died on the operating table. He said will you pray with me. 00:45:23.08\00:45:26.76 And we said, Man of course. This is why we're here, right? Like 00:45:26.79\00:45:31.69 we just surrounded him and we prayed for him and we lifted him 00:45:31.73\00:45:34.00 up in prayer and he was so encouraged by that, you know. 00:45:34.03\00:45:37.10 We gave him a Great Controversy gave him a Steps to Christ, gave 00:45:37.13\00:45:39.30 some Glow tracts. And he was so encouraged by that. He said okay 00:45:39.33\00:45:43.54 where do you guys need to go. I've got this fleet of 00:45:43.57\00:45:46.57 helicopters out here. You guys let me know where you need to go 00:45:46.61\00:45:49.21 and I will put you on one of these helicopters and send you 00:45:49.24\00:45:53.48 into Haiti a first-class ride directly into ground zero of 00:45:53.52\00:45:56.65 where the earthquake had taken place courtesy of the U.S. Coast 00:45:56.69\00:45:59.65 Guard right there in Haiti. But this is how God works in many 00:45:59.69\00:46:04.63 He's brought in how many multi million-dollar machinery and 00:46:04.66\00:46:09.56 things that we would have never...You know this is all God 00:46:09.60\00:46:13.03 You had no clue that you had access to those things until God 00:46:13.07\00:46:17.01 was like, Oh by the way I got you a pilot right here. 00:46:17.04\00:46:18.81 To be honest, we've stopped trying to be specific with our 00:46:18.84\00:46:21.78 prayers because we don't think big enough is our problem. 00:46:21.81\00:46:26.08 We limit God. 00:46:26.11\00:46:28.92 God if you could...If I could you know. Here I've got it on 00:46:28.95\00:46:31.35 standby. 00:46:31.39\00:46:32.72 But why is God so intent on giving us access in incredible 00:46:32.75\00:46:38.39 ways. It's because He cares about people. Because the clock 00:46:38.43\00:46:41.66 is ticking. He knows that He needs to move His people into 00:46:41.70\00:46:43.77 position into the place where they need to be and immediately 00:46:43.80\00:46:47.67 for the purpose of reaching hearts and minds with the gospel 00:46:47.70\00:46:49.04 Any other pictures we have from Haiti? If we just move through a 00:46:49.07\00:46:53.98 picture of Jessica sitting in the helicopter there after our 00:46:54.01\00:46:56.81 video. She's one of our team members and also a search and 00:46:56.85\00:46:59.21 rescue canine handlers. Here she is so you can see the proof is 00:46:59.25\00:47:03.69 in the pudding. And then as we look forward from this picture 00:47:03.72\00:47:06.55 we were stationed in the hospital. We were able to filter 00:47:06.59\00:47:08.52 water with a solar-powered water machine. We were actually one 00:47:08.56\00:47:11.63 of the only responders that were in that hospital helping to run 00:47:11.66\00:47:15.03 the entire emergency department (Multiple voices) a hospital. 00:47:15.06\00:47:19.53 Yeah, a hospital. Corrie here is treating wounds here. We're 00:47:19.57\00:47:22.24 treating them with hydrotherapy. They had no antibiotics. We had 00:47:22.27\00:47:24.64 to use what we could with hot and cold treatment. And then 00:47:24.67\00:47:27.81 this is a picture of a pastor. He's actually a charismatic 00:47:27.84\00:47:32.05 pastor, like Assemblies of God I think, And when we gave him 00:47:32.08\00:47:36.18 the Glow tracts in French he said is this the word of God? 00:47:36.22\00:47:38.59 I said absolutely. And he said Brother, he said, do you have 00:47:38.62\00:47:41.72 any more of this. And I said yes He said I have five churches 00:47:41.76\00:47:43.36 in my district. He said will you please give me everything you 00:47:43.39\00:47:45.76 have. And we loaded that guy up on his motorcycle with all this 00:47:45.79\00:47:48.90 literature and he said God has brought to Haiti here for me. 00:47:48.93\00:47:51.37 And so you can see like God's hand moving through all of these 00:47:51.40\00:47:56.24 different disasters. And right after Haiti God swept us out of 00:47:56.27\00:48:00.21 Haiti in a... There's a picture I believe of an aircraft here. 00:48:00.24\00:48:03.04 It's a gentleman who is well-to- do. He had his own Leer jet and 00:48:03.08\00:48:07.88 and he completely, for free, picked up our team, flew us back 00:48:07.92\00:48:11.92 into Florida. And of course he got a Great Controversy, he got 00:48:11.95\00:48:14.49 to hear some miracle stories. He was impressed. And then from 00:48:14.52\00:48:17.33 there we were right onto the next disaster because if you 00:48:17.36\00:48:19.53 remember the earthquake in Haiti and then Hurricane Ida wreaked 00:48:19.56\00:48:23.83 havoc right in Louisiana right after that. So we were whisked 00:48:25.23\00:48:27.20 away from our 00:48:27.24\00:48:28.57 Nascar pilot car. He was very gracious. He just "so 00:48:28.60\00:48:31.61 happened" to be in Florida 00:48:31.64\00:48:32.97 he just "so happened" to be there, okay, an hour or so from 00:48:34.14\00:48:36.64 where we inserted back into the country from Haiti. And we 00:48:36.68\00:48:39.48 called him up and we said, Carl where are you at, what are you 00:48:39.51\00:48:41.02 doing. And he said well I'm actually in Florida. And I said 00:48:41.05\00:48:45.55 Oh, guess what, we are too. I said Carl there's a hurricane 00:48:45.59\00:48:47.49 coming into Louisiana. Can you get us there. And he said well 00:48:47.52\00:48:49.86 yeah, let me check the weather. I'll pick you up. And so he 00:48:49.89\00:48:52.23 comes and picks us up in his plane flies us directly into 00:48:52.26\00:48:56.03 Louisiana and, again, more miracle stories than we have 00:48:56.06\00:48:58.43 time to relate here. But it was God's precision in landing us in 00:48:58.47\00:49:03.27 the right place at the right time for the communities that 00:49:03.30\00:49:05.77 needed to hear the gospel. And we even have another video. The 00:49:05.81\00:49:08.94 second helicopter here picking up our team, a double-bladed 00:49:08.98\00:49:14.42 Chinook helicopter. It's on my bucket list. I actually didn't 00:49:14.45\00:49:16.65 personally get to ride in this but we did put our forward 00:49:16.69\00:49:18.95 operating team in the back of this helicopter. There's another 00:49:18.99\00:49:20.96 picture of them sitting in the back getting ready to be 00:49:20.99\00:49:26.66 inserted into Grand Isle, Louisiana which was a devastated 00:49:26.70\00:49:28.20 place. And these guys in the military they were amazing. 00:49:28.23\00:49:32.13 When we walked up I had an impression and I saw that 00:49:32.17\00:49:35.10 helicopter sitting on the ramp and there was just this deep 00:49:35.14\00:49:37.94 impression like go over and talk to these guys. I walked over 00:49:37.97\00:49:39.31 to them. The first thing out of their mouth was, Hey you guys 00:49:39.34\00:49:43.88 our team that we're inserting into Grand Isle? And I said well 00:49:43.91\00:49:45.31 we can be, you know, we're here, right? And we actually weren't 00:49:45.35\00:49:51.02 the team that they were waiting on but because of that first 00:49:51.05\00:49:53.79 initial interaction they were like, hang on. We're going to 00:49:53.82\00:49:55.32 get you on the roster. Like you give us some team members. We'll 00:49:55.36\00:49:57.79 put you on the helicopter and they directly flew our team into 00:49:57.83\00:50:00.63 Grand Isle for the purpose of the gospel. 00:50:00.66\00:50:02.86 That is incredible. Wow. God is just... 00:50:02.90\00:50:05.73 I was on the road at that point in time when all that was 00:50:05.77\00:50:09.10 happening. I was trying to get the boat there as soon as I 00:50:09.14\00:50:11.34 could. Now mind you as Brock is telling the story and we're 00:50:11.37\00:50:15.28 telling you this, what he was describing was unfolding within 00:50:15.31\00:50:20.12 hours of itself, right? His landing this Chinook this... 00:50:20.15\00:50:23.22 right just all for the sake of willingness, right? You got to 00:50:23.25\00:50:27.22 able to stay in step with God because He's ready to move. 00:50:27.26\00:50:29.79 It's amazing, absolutely. Folks this is what the gospel... 00:50:29.82\00:50:35.73 what you're watching here is what it's all about. We're put 00:50:35.76\00:50:37.83 on this planet to serve. When 00:51:11.77\00:51:13.94 did we do all of these things? And he said, Inasmuch as you've 00:51:13.97\00:51:17.07 done this to the least of these you have done it for me. When 00:51:17.11\00:51:19.67 we reach out to other to serve others, to be there for others 00:51:19.71\00:51:22.48 during times of need, we are being a witness to them and 00:51:22.51\00:51:25.95 that's what Gideon Rescue Co. is all about.
