Yeah. 00:08:59.43\00:09:00.77 You're fortunate to be up in Lincoln, 00:09:00.80\00:09:02.14 but they come up there too. 00:09:02.17\00:09:03.51 Well, she's in Lincoln, and he's in Oklahoma. 00:09:03.54\00:09:05.97 Yeah. 00:09:06.01\00:09:07.34 But having said that, 00:09:07.38\00:09:09.38 tell us about the Mayfield, specifically. 00:09:09.41\00:09:12.25 The Mayfield tornado 00:09:12.28\00:09:14.48 that just happen in Mayfield, Kentucky, 00:09:14.52\00:09:17.99 and tell us your involvement in that? 00:09:18.02\00:09:19.85 You know, these disasters are unprecedented 00:09:19.89\00:09:24.26 and every disaster we seem to come across 00:09:24.29\00:09:27.56 seems to be bigger 00:09:27.60\00:09:28.93 and worse than the one before it 00:09:28.96\00:09:30.83 but we know that this is to happen 00:09:30.87\00:09:32.73 according to Scripture. 00:09:32.77\00:09:34.30 And in Kentucky specifically, 00:09:34.34\00:09:36.54 it was an unprecedented tornado. 00:09:36.57\00:09:39.51 It's the fastest ground speed 00:09:39.54\00:09:41.11 that they had clocked 304 miles an hour. 00:09:41.14\00:09:44.58 Just to give you perspective, a hurricane Category Five 00:09:44.61\00:09:48.78 is typically about 180 miles an hour sustained winds, 00:09:48.82\00:09:52.59 so 300 miles an hour 00:09:52.62\00:09:54.32 is significantly much faster. 00:09:54.36\00:09:58.63 The distraction is indescribable 00:09:58.66\00:10:02.16 like pictures don't do justice. 00:10:02.20\00:10:03.53 Wow. 00:10:03.57\00:10:04.90 But we do have a picture of what it looked like 00:10:04.93\00:10:07.64 when you had a chance. 00:10:07.67\00:10:09.24 This is a picture of the devastation there 00:10:09.27\00:10:12.11 in Mayfield and that's just in one direction. 00:10:12.14\00:10:14.94 That's just one direction. 00:10:14.98\00:10:16.34 The downtown section of Mayfield 00:10:16.38\00:10:18.71 was just about completely leveled in some parts 00:10:18.75\00:10:21.18 and whole communities were wiped off the map. 00:10:21.22\00:10:24.35 What's the population of Mayfield? 00:10:24.39\00:10:26.19 Mayfield is a smaller town. 00:10:26.22\00:10:28.96 Yeah, it's about 10,000 or so, 00:10:28.99\00:10:31.39 but what's incredible is that the destruction 00:10:31.43\00:10:33.50 spread over a whole 340 some odd miles, 00:10:33.53\00:10:36.30 I believe was the multiple tornadoes 00:10:36.33\00:10:38.50 that that ran through those areas from Arkansas, 00:10:38.53\00:10:42.34 all the way into Kentucky. 00:10:42.37\00:10:44.11 And, you know, 00:10:44.14\00:10:47.08 it's amazing to me that we don't see more loss of life, 00:10:47.11\00:10:50.08 but I believe it's because of God's grace, 00:10:50.11\00:10:52.88 that we don't see more loss of life 00:10:52.91\00:10:55.35 in these tornadoes. 00:10:55.38\00:10:56.72 Wow. 00:10:56.75\00:10:58.09 So when you hit the ground... 00:10:58.12\00:10:59.62 Let's dive right over to Meredith. 00:10:59.65\00:11:01.82 When you hit the ground, you hit the ground also, 00:11:02.89\00:11:04.33 not only with personnel but with a K-9 team. 00:11:04.36\00:11:08.16 Let's talk about that? 00:11:08.20\00:11:09.70 Yes, well, when we go, you know, we're led by God. 00:11:09.73\00:11:14.07 And so, we pray, 00:11:14.10\00:11:17.01 and God leads us to the places that 00:11:17.04\00:11:19.81 He thinks we need to be in. 00:11:19.84\00:11:21.61 We were first in Mayfield for a little bit 00:11:21.64\00:11:24.41 and every place we had been taken to 00:11:24.45\00:11:28.88 has already been pretty much searched 00:11:28.92\00:11:30.39 by FEMA teams and this and that. 00:11:30.42\00:11:32.25 And so, you know, we just prayed as a team, 00:11:32.29\00:11:34.62 you know, God, where do you want us? 00:11:34.66\00:11:36.83 Where can we best serve You? 00:11:36.86\00:11:38.89 So we prayed, 00:11:38.93\00:11:42.20 and that evening, and we... 00:11:42.23\00:11:45.93 God just opened the door 00:11:45.97\00:11:47.47 and we had an Operations Manager 00:11:47.50\00:11:50.44 from Dawson Springs call 00:11:50.47\00:11:53.61 and asked us to be there at 7 am with our K-9 00:11:53.64\00:11:56.78 so we could search in Dawson Springs, 00:11:56.81\00:11:59.38 which is a community about 00:11:59.41\00:12:00.75 what was about 30-40 minutes 00:12:00.78\00:12:02.15 away from Mayfield and just leveled. 00:12:02.18\00:12:05.15 I mean, there was such destruction there, 00:12:05.19\00:12:08.19 there was not much left of that town. 00:12:08.22\00:12:10.33 And, so we were able to take our K-9 team, 00:12:10.36\00:12:15.20 and we were able to search that whole entire day, 00:12:15.23\00:12:18.13 almost 10 hours searching for people 00:12:18.17\00:12:22.47 throughout the day and it was such a blessing. 00:12:22.50\00:12:24.31 This is our first time we've got to use our K-9s, 00:12:24.34\00:12:27.94 and in this kind of situation. 00:12:27.98\00:12:30.95 So God has just opened doors and we have been 00:12:30.98\00:12:34.15 so blessed by not only has 00:12:34.18\00:12:36.79 giving the ability to have our dogs 00:12:36.82\00:12:39.32 but to be able to serve people with them. 00:12:39.35\00:12:41.16 Yeah, I've heard many saying don't forget to picture. 00:12:41.19\00:12:43.36 Here's a picture of the K-9 team 00:12:43.39\00:12:46.56 that and there you are with the second from the, 00:12:46.59\00:12:49.70 from my left, with Mannie. 00:12:49.73\00:12:51.47 Is that Mannie with you there? 00:12:51.50\00:12:52.83 Yes. 00:12:52.87\00:12:54.34 They look like they all come from the same family. 00:12:54.37\00:12:57.21 Special. What a dog. 00:12:57.24\00:12:58.57 What kind of dog is she? 00:12:58.61\00:12:59.94 She's a Labrador Retriever. Yeah. 00:12:59.97\00:13:01.71 And these K-9s are a blessing that we never actually 00:13:01.74\00:13:06.31 were looking for was something that 00:13:06.35\00:13:08.38 God just opened the door and connect us 00:13:08.42\00:13:10.62 with a professional training 00:13:10.65\00:13:12.09 program in Oklahoma Ground Zero. 00:13:12.12\00:13:14.29 And each of these dogs 00:13:14.32\00:13:15.66 are professionally trained FEMA, 00:13:15.69\00:13:18.59 Task Force type dogs that have been gifted to us 00:13:18.63\00:13:21.96 as an organization for complete free. 00:13:22.00\00:13:24.73 We don't pay a dime for these dogs, 00:13:24.77\00:13:26.33 but they're $70,000 worth of training per dog 00:13:26.37\00:13:30.24 in order to save life, 00:13:30.27\00:13:31.97 and what an incredible testimony that 00:13:32.01\00:13:34.54 God can provide the resources that are needed 00:13:34.58\00:13:37.08 and especially in the opportunity 00:13:37.11\00:13:38.98 to reach people's hearts. 00:13:39.01\00:13:41.32 Wow. 00:13:41.35\00:13:43.22 Was it difficult to get people together 00:13:43.25\00:13:45.45 during the holidays? 00:13:45.49\00:13:46.82 I mean, this happened so quickly, this disaster. 00:13:46.86\00:13:50.09 Another unprecedented point about the Kentucky tornadoes 00:13:50.13\00:13:53.26 is that in December that is not a season 00:13:53.29\00:13:55.50 that we see tornado activity. 00:13:55.53\00:13:58.07 And, so yes, it was a little bit difficult 00:13:58.10\00:14:00.57 because we're coming right into Christmas 00:14:00.60\00:14:02.67 and these communities were absolutely destroyed 00:14:02.70\00:14:06.34 and so it was a real testament to the other volunteers 00:14:06.37\00:14:08.88 and the groups and the teams 00:14:08.91\00:14:10.25 that were there to spend their time 00:14:10.28\00:14:11.61 there over the holidays. 00:14:11.65\00:14:12.98 Now, where did you stay? 00:14:13.01\00:14:14.52 Wherever God opened the door, 00:14:14.55\00:14:15.92 but there was a church that was gracious. 00:14:15.95\00:14:19.02 The church there in Paducah, 00:14:19.05\00:14:20.66 the Seventh-day Adventist Church in Paducah 00:14:20.69\00:14:22.02 opened their doors, and they 00:14:22.06\00:14:23.39 let us stay in the gymnasium 00:14:23.43\00:14:25.03 and it was a good base of operations for the team. 00:14:25.06\00:14:27.16 How far is Paducah from there? 00:14:27.20\00:14:28.70 It was about 20 minutes or so from Ground Zero. 00:14:28.73\00:14:30.83 Wow. 00:14:30.87\00:14:32.20 I didn't know it was so close. 00:14:32.23\00:14:34.40 Well, we've gone to Paducah quite frequently. 00:14:34.44\00:14:37.71 The scary thing to think that the tornado 00:14:37.74\00:14:39.37 just was that close. 00:14:39.41\00:14:40.94 I want to bring Wil into the picture here though. 00:14:40.98\00:14:44.51 Being a part of... 00:14:44.55\00:14:45.88 Give us that acronym again, GRC? 00:14:45.91\00:14:47.92 GRC, Gideon Rescue Company. 00:14:47.95\00:14:50.79 Okay. 00:14:50.82\00:14:52.15 Did you partner with other organizations as it 00:14:52.19\00:14:54.82 related to the rescue? 00:14:54.86\00:14:57.63 Specifically with the K-9s? 00:14:57.66\00:14:59.69 Well, with the whole rescue effort? 00:14:59.73\00:15:01.70 How many other organizations do you stay were there? 00:15:01.73\00:15:03.80 Yes, God's brought 00:15:03.83\00:15:05.73 several different ministries together 00:15:05.77\00:15:07.44 over the years. 00:15:07.47\00:15:08.80 We've been blessed with a relationship 00:15:08.84\00:15:11.57 with Jim Ingersoll and 2Serve 00:15:11.61\00:15:13.68 who works with various academies 00:15:13.71\00:15:17.01 and brings our youth into service 00:15:17.05\00:15:20.15 during these disasters. 00:15:20.18\00:15:21.55 So it's very, very special. 00:15:21.58\00:15:23.82 There's also another ministry, AWA 00:15:23.85\00:15:27.52 Adventist World Aviation 00:15:27.56\00:15:29.32 that God's brought a relationship there 00:15:29.36\00:15:31.99 with us together, and has given us 00:15:32.03\00:15:33.96 the ability to have 00:15:34.00\00:15:36.67 aviation at as a resource. 00:15:36.70\00:15:42.64 One more experience as well has been another agency, 00:15:42.67\00:15:47.34 I'm not sure if I'm allowed to use their name 00:15:47.38\00:15:49.18 because they prefer their anonymity, 00:15:49.21\00:15:50.85 but they bring... 00:15:50.88\00:15:53.01 It's a hub for many pilots who want to bring supplies 00:15:53.05\00:15:57.82 and God's put us in a position 00:15:57.85\00:16:00.36 to be the boots on the ground for these various pilots 00:16:00.39\00:16:02.92 to be able to distribute the goods that they fly in. 00:16:02.96\00:16:05.69 Wow. 00:16:05.73\00:16:07.06 Well, we always like to hear testimonies. 00:16:07.10\00:16:09.13 Tell us about Carl Edwards, the NASCAR driver? 00:16:09.16\00:16:14.30 When we were here, a couple of years ago, 00:16:14.34\00:16:16.00 I did an interview with 3ABN Today. 00:16:16.04\00:16:18.84 We had told a story where God had 00:16:18.87\00:16:20.94 recently connected us through Hurricane Dorian 00:16:20.98\00:16:23.35 with a very famous pilot, and at the time, 00:16:23.38\00:16:27.22 we had kept his identity under wraps 00:16:27.25\00:16:29.55 but I had gotten permission to share his name on this show. 00:16:29.58\00:16:32.85 Over the years, we've developed a stronger relationship, 00:16:32.89\00:16:35.72 and he actually is, 00:16:35.76\00:16:37.09 is more than excited to be associated with our team. 00:16:37.13\00:16:40.93 And Carl Edwards is a former NASCAR driver. 00:16:40.96\00:16:44.53 He was a very successful NASCAR driver. 00:16:44.57\00:16:47.07 And a very humble man. 00:16:47.10\00:16:50.17 If you were to meet this man, 00:16:50.21\00:16:51.74 he is a servant of servants and just an incredible, 00:16:51.77\00:16:55.84 you know, you can see how God 00:16:55.88\00:16:57.21 has been leading in his life, 00:16:57.25\00:16:58.71 even before you ever met us. 00:16:58.75\00:17:00.78 But this response in Kentucky was very special 00:17:00.82\00:17:03.28 because, for the first time, 00:17:03.32\00:17:05.49 Carl actually decided to respond with us. 00:17:05.52\00:17:09.56 He has a plane, 00:17:09.59\00:17:10.93 and that was how we first met him 00:17:10.96\00:17:12.53 and he said, he gave us his business card. 00:17:12.56\00:17:14.43 He said anytime you need to go to disaster, 00:17:14.46\00:17:16.03 here's my business card. 00:17:16.06\00:17:17.40 He's a pilot? 00:17:17.43\00:17:18.77 Yep, you call me and I'll fly you door to door. 00:17:18.80\00:17:20.77 And so we've used him in several different responses 00:17:20.80\00:17:24.37 in different disasters. 00:17:24.41\00:17:25.74 And this was the first time 00:17:25.77\00:17:27.11 his plane was under maintenance. 00:17:27.14\00:17:28.48 And so he didn't have that available. 00:17:28.51\00:17:29.84 But he said, "Listen, I'll come with my skid steer, 00:17:29.88\00:17:31.21 I'll come with my truck and my trailer." 00:17:31.25\00:17:32.58 He said, "I'll just join you guys 00:17:32.61\00:17:33.95 and we'll work on the ground together." 00:17:33.98\00:17:35.92 And Carl, he's searching, 00:17:35.95\00:17:38.72 he doesn't quite know exactly 00:17:38.75\00:17:40.66 what he believes 00:17:40.69\00:17:42.02 he would probably be okay with me saying 00:17:42.06\00:17:43.39 he's a bit of a maybe soft agnostic. 00:17:43.43\00:17:46.39 And so he's observing all of these different miracles 00:17:46.43\00:17:49.20 and these things that are taking place. 00:17:49.23\00:17:50.57 And so it was exciting for us to have him on the ground, 00:17:50.60\00:17:52.83 and to actually see the hand of God 00:17:52.87\00:17:55.00 at work in this disaster. 00:17:55.04\00:17:56.37 Amen. 00:17:56.40\00:17:57.74 And we have a picture of Carl and the team 00:17:57.77\00:17:59.11 I'd like you to describe to our viewers 00:17:59.14\00:18:00.48 who are seeing here? 00:18:00.51\00:18:01.84 Absolutely. Carl is on the left there. 00:18:01.88\00:18:04.01 And then Doug, he's with AWA. 00:18:04.05\00:18:06.35 He's a former Marine and a pilot as well, 00:18:06.38\00:18:09.55 Steven is also there next to Doug 00:18:09.58\00:18:11.95 and he's a pilot with AWA and then Mike Merasheena, 00:18:11.99\00:18:15.89 he's on the very end there in the gray sweatshirt. 00:18:15.92\00:18:18.16 And Mike is an incredible man of faith as well that we met 00:18:18.19\00:18:21.10 in Belle Plaine, Iowa on another disaster, 00:18:21.13\00:18:23.77 and he had a crane 00:18:23.80\00:18:26.23 that we ended up using during that disaster. 00:18:26.27\00:18:29.74 And so it's just amazing to see the team 00:18:29.77\00:18:31.64 that God has brought together 00:18:31.67\00:18:33.17 for helping people, rescuing souls. 00:18:33.21\00:18:36.54 Wow. 00:18:36.58\00:18:37.91 What about the properties? 00:18:37.95\00:18:39.28 How did you find where to go? What properties to work on? 00:18:39.31\00:18:43.28 So that's an excellent question. 00:18:43.32\00:18:46.25 We really believe in the power of the Holy Spirit, 00:18:46.29\00:18:49.32 that God has the battle plan all in place, 00:18:49.36\00:18:51.89 and that we need to be submissive 00:18:51.93\00:18:54.10 and surrender to that plan. 00:18:54.13\00:18:55.70 And so we actually don't know 00:18:55.73\00:18:58.40 where it is that we're going to go. 00:18:58.43\00:19:00.10 We don't know where it is we're going to end up. 00:19:00.14\00:19:02.17 We just know that when God activates us as a team 00:19:02.20\00:19:04.47 that He's sending us and He's opening doors. 00:19:04.51\00:19:06.41 And so it really is a faith journey. 00:19:06.44\00:19:09.11 And Mayfield was just... 00:19:09.14\00:19:10.78 There was one place that we got a request 00:19:10.81\00:19:12.61 to bring the dogs. 00:19:12.65\00:19:13.98 And that was kind of our first 00:19:14.02\00:19:15.95 indication that Mayfield would be the place 00:19:15.98\00:19:17.72 that we'd be ministering and then from there, 00:19:17.75\00:19:19.22 the Lord just kept opening door after door after door 00:19:19.25\00:19:21.76 and bringing us to exactly the right place 00:19:21.79\00:19:24.16 at the right time. 00:19:24.19\00:19:25.53 You mentioned about the dogs. 00:19:25.56\00:19:26.90 I want to go back to Meredith here 00:19:26.93\00:19:28.26 because being specialized as you are 00:19:28.30\00:19:31.53 and I'm glad you mentioned the cost of that dog, 00:19:31.57\00:19:34.04 that jacket is very expensive jacket 00:19:34.07\00:19:36.04 he has on, $70,000 of training 00:19:36.07\00:19:38.67 and preparation to do what he does. 00:19:38.71\00:19:40.38 Just give us an idea of how this works. 00:19:40.41\00:19:42.38 What when you come to the scene, 00:19:42.41\00:19:43.95 and you see major devastation, 00:19:43.98\00:19:45.71 in a lot of cases I've seen where they would... 00:19:45.75\00:19:47.82 I mean, I may be a novice in this area 00:19:47.85\00:19:49.85 and I think I am 00:19:49.88\00:19:51.22 how do they start looking for people? 00:19:51.25\00:19:52.59 What do you do? 00:19:52.62\00:19:53.96 Do you just say go and they... 00:19:53.99\00:19:55.99 Well, what we do is we'll grid off a certain section 00:19:56.02\00:19:58.43 and we will cover that bases of that section, 00:19:58.46\00:20:01.46 just so that we're not missing any spot. 00:20:01.50\00:20:03.80 And so we take one dog, 00:20:03.83\00:20:06.20 and we will send her out and she knows her job. 00:20:06.23\00:20:09.40 She's highly trained. 00:20:09.44\00:20:10.77 So she will continue just to shoot out 00:20:10.81\00:20:13.14 and she will search and when a dog's nose is, 00:20:13.17\00:20:15.84 is actually incredible, they have 00:20:15.88\00:20:18.75 300 million smell receptors, which are called a factory 00:20:18.78\00:20:24.02 receptors in their noses, 00:20:24.05\00:20:25.39 where we as humans only have 5 million. 00:20:25.42\00:20:27.69 And the way their breathing system is that 00:20:27.72\00:20:29.56 they can breathe in the odor, and they can breathe, 00:20:29.59\00:20:32.89 exhale outside the slits of their nose. 00:20:32.93\00:20:35.23 So it's not disturbing that 00:20:35.26\00:20:37.33 odor that's coming in all the time 00:20:37.37\00:20:39.03 so they can stay focused and maintained 00:20:39.07\00:20:41.54 on the odor that they're looking for. 00:20:41.57\00:20:42.97 Wow. 00:20:43.00\00:20:44.34 They're amazing animals. 00:20:44.37\00:20:45.71 God just made, built them the most amazing way 00:20:45.74\00:20:48.41 to be able to do this kind of work. 00:20:48.44\00:20:50.25 And so, we send them out and we grid off an area, 00:20:50.28\00:20:54.18 we completely clear it, and then 00:20:54.22\00:20:56.18 we move on to the next area. 00:20:56.22\00:20:57.99 Wow, that's amazing. 00:20:58.02\00:20:59.35 Now that explains 00:20:59.39\00:21:00.72 why their nose is designed the way it is. 00:21:00.76\00:21:02.09 I always wondered, why is it a little flat? 00:21:02.12\00:21:04.09 I'm glad we don't have one 00:21:04.13\00:21:05.63 'cause it doesn't look that great 00:21:05.66\00:21:07.00 but now I know why it's there. 00:21:07.03\00:21:08.36 Who would like to kind of prime 00:21:08.40\00:21:10.27 we're going to see a 16-second video, 00:21:10.30\00:21:12.90 kind of tell us what we're gonna see? 00:21:12.93\00:21:14.84 Sure. 00:21:14.87\00:21:16.71 This video is actually Carl when he brought his skid steer 00:21:16.74\00:21:19.97 and he was so excited to use it. 00:21:20.01\00:21:22.04 And that's what we're praying like Lord find missions 00:21:22.08\00:21:24.05 that Carl is going to be able to be a part of, 00:21:24.08\00:21:26.41 in which he's going to be excited 00:21:26.45\00:21:27.78 because we don't know where we're going 00:21:27.82\00:21:29.15 or where we're headed, 00:21:29.18\00:21:30.52 and so this was actually a house that we're able to pull 00:21:30.55\00:21:31.95 an entire tree off the house 00:21:31.99\00:21:33.72 using some mechanical advantage and the skids too there. 00:21:33.76\00:21:37.53 So he was really excited 00:21:37.56\00:21:39.29 to be able to use that tool and that resource. 00:21:39.33\00:21:41.76 Wow. 00:21:41.80\00:21:43.13 What about you, Dana? 00:21:43.16\00:21:44.97 What was it like for you? 00:21:45.00\00:21:47.04 Well, there's a lot of things that I enjoy, 00:21:47.07\00:21:49.47 I ended up first being on the ground 00:21:49.50\00:21:52.17 in Cambridge shores. 00:21:52.21\00:21:55.91 And then the following days, we were in the pods. 00:21:55.94\00:22:00.52 So when a disaster happens, there's a lot of donations 00:22:00.55\00:22:03.42 that come in and you see the heart 00:22:03.45\00:22:05.22 of people across the nation, across the world, 00:22:05.25\00:22:07.39 sending supplies, non-perishable food, 00:22:07.42\00:22:09.79 bedding, toilet papers, animal food, 00:22:09.82\00:22:13.53 generators, all these things and they come into 00:22:13.56\00:22:16.23 different areas in the community 00:22:16.26\00:22:17.83 that are called pods, points of distribution. 00:22:17.87\00:22:20.67 So you have a warehouse where things come in, 00:22:20.70\00:22:22.67 and they're sorted. 00:22:22.70\00:22:24.24 And then survivors and victims of these natural disasters 00:22:24.27\00:22:26.84 can come in and just get these free donations 00:22:26.88\00:22:30.25 to take back with them to continue to survive 00:22:30.28\00:22:33.01 in the short-term interim. 00:22:33.05\00:22:35.15 And so, one of the beautiful things 00:22:35.18\00:22:36.95 there is that anybody can participate there. 00:22:36.99\00:22:39.52 There were children, there's adults, 00:22:39.55\00:22:42.86 there's all ages and backgrounds, 00:22:42.89\00:22:44.56 just helping people come and we carry 00:22:44.59\00:22:48.56 their containers that they're loading up 00:22:48.60\00:22:50.00 with the goods that they need. 00:22:50.03\00:22:51.37 But at the same time, 00:22:51.40\00:22:52.73 we get to listen to their stories. 00:22:52.77\00:22:54.50 If we're asking, 00:22:54.54\00:22:55.87 and we are listening for stories, 00:22:55.90\00:22:57.24 because we are also trying to determine 00:22:57.27\00:22:59.57 how we can help the people. 00:22:59.61\00:23:01.08 Is their properties that need help still? 00:23:01.11\00:23:02.91 Are their houses needing to be tarped? 00:23:02.94\00:23:04.78 Is there debris cleanup? 00:23:04.81\00:23:06.21 Then also, how can we minister to them spiritually, 00:23:06.25\00:23:09.28 because we carry literature with us to give, 00:23:09.32\00:23:11.39 and we want to be able to pray for them. 00:23:11.42\00:23:13.59 And for me, I was also grateful, 00:23:13.62\00:23:15.72 because I had people when they heard I was coming, 00:23:15.76\00:23:18.99 they said we want to send money with you 00:23:19.03\00:23:20.93 to give directly to these survivors 00:23:20.96\00:23:23.26 and these victims of the storm. 00:23:23.30\00:23:25.07 So you ministered quite a bit, all of you? 00:23:25.10\00:23:28.74 There are so many fronts 00:23:28.77\00:23:30.87 when it comes to disaster in ministry. 00:23:30.91\00:23:32.91 This is really that the appeal that we have is that 00:23:32.94\00:23:36.08 that the harvest is great but the laborers are few. 00:23:36.11\00:23:41.02 You know, people ask us all the time, 00:23:41.05\00:23:42.38 well, maybe I'm not a nurse 00:23:42.42\00:23:43.89 or I'm not a search and rescue handler, I'm not a, 00:23:43.92\00:23:46.12 you know, what can I do? 00:23:46.15\00:23:47.79 And you know, the gospel is really quite simple. 00:23:47.82\00:23:50.33 In that Jesus says, Can you hand somebody 00:23:50.36\00:23:51.93 a cup of cold water in My name, 00:23:51.96\00:23:54.53 and no wise lose your reward in heaven. 00:23:54.56\00:23:56.63 And so we find this through the pods 00:23:56.67\00:23:58.73 is that some of our most powerful ministry experiences 00:23:58.77\00:24:01.20 have actually not been pulling people from rubble, 00:24:01.24\00:24:03.54 but have been actually there in the pods 00:24:03.57\00:24:05.27 in the points of distribution, 00:24:05.31\00:24:06.78 handing out food and water and then asking people, 00:24:06.81\00:24:09.21 you know, can I pray with you? 00:24:09.24\00:24:10.81 And people just, they start weeping, 00:24:10.85\00:24:12.65 they're in tears, and when you hand them 00:24:12.68\00:24:14.12 a piece of literature when you hand them the Word of God 00:24:14.15\00:24:16.35 like they are just thank you so much. 00:24:16.38\00:24:18.32 I didn't even know I needed this. 00:24:18.35\00:24:20.02 Well, you know, that was amazing. 00:24:20.06\00:24:21.39 Calling out to the least of them the Bible says. 00:24:21.42\00:24:23.63 And we saw on the news 00:24:23.66\00:24:25.33 because this is highlighted quite a bit 00:24:25.36\00:24:26.70 in all the networks of people that have said 00:24:26.73\00:24:28.73 I lost my house, but at least I'm still here. 00:24:28.76\00:24:31.40 And then there was a group of people that said, 00:24:31.43\00:24:33.67 you know, our town has been practically wiped off, 00:24:33.70\00:24:38.07 but we are going to rebuild. 00:24:38.11\00:24:39.61 This is home, we're not leaving. 00:24:39.64\00:24:41.71 We're going to hang out together. 00:24:41.74\00:24:43.65 And I want to highlight 00:24:43.68\00:24:45.01 not only was the Gideon Rescue Company there, 00:24:45.05\00:24:48.15 but also who'd like to talk about Heritage Academy. 00:24:48.18\00:24:51.55 Maybe if I get that to you, will you? 00:24:51.59\00:24:53.52 Wow, yeah, Heritage Academy. 00:24:53.56\00:24:56.62 That was a really special experience. 00:24:56.66\00:24:59.39 One, the talent of the gift of music 00:24:59.43\00:25:03.03 that God brought with that Academy. 00:25:03.06\00:25:07.14 Equally, I had worked on another mission trip, 00:25:07.17\00:25:12.51 Ultimate Workout with Maranatha is what I'm involved with. 00:25:12.54\00:25:16.08 And one of the young men that was on that trip 00:25:16.11\00:25:20.58 when I showed up in Kentucky. 00:25:20.62\00:25:24.65 I saw that there were Academy kids 00:25:24.69\00:25:26.96 and in through the door walks 00:25:26.99\00:25:28.39 one of the young men that I was with in Kentucky. 00:25:28.42\00:25:31.43 His name is Cameron Sanders, CJ. 00:25:31.46\00:25:34.23 And it was such a joy 00:25:34.26\00:25:36.87 for both he and I to have united 00:25:36.90\00:25:40.57 in a common purpose without any plans. 00:25:40.60\00:25:42.84 God arranged that for both of us 00:25:42.87\00:25:44.41 and it was just a special deal to serve with him. 00:25:44.44\00:25:47.38 So it was a joy because it empowered him 00:25:47.41\00:25:49.84 to the what we saw with our academies, 00:25:49.88\00:25:54.08 with our youth 00:25:54.12\00:25:56.25 was such a beautiful thing to me 00:25:56.28\00:25:58.09 because the youth were 00:25:58.12\00:26:00.96 at these points of distribution, 00:26:00.99\00:26:02.66 stopping, turning around, they were giving 00:26:02.69\00:26:04.49 inspirational literature, 00:26:04.53\00:26:05.89 they were stopping and praying with people, 00:26:05.93\00:26:07.66 and these people are at the point 00:26:07.70\00:26:09.90 where they're so focused on their survival 00:26:09.93\00:26:11.67 that they don't even realize 00:26:11.70\00:26:13.03 that stopping to pray is an option. 00:26:13.07\00:26:14.90 And so when these youth they're there, 00:26:14.94\00:26:17.94 they're kind of astounded at the age group 00:26:17.97\00:26:19.97 that's there going, hey, can I pray with you? 00:26:20.01\00:26:22.01 And they're like, well, yeah. 00:26:22.04\00:26:23.41 And then when it happens, there's this sense of, 00:26:23.45\00:26:27.35 I didn't know I needed that 00:26:27.38\00:26:30.52 and it touches these kids' lives. 00:26:30.55\00:26:32.75 And it's really astounding each night at the gym, 00:26:32.79\00:26:35.82 where we all slept, 00:26:35.86\00:26:38.13 testimonies would come out and our youth were giving these 00:26:38.16\00:26:42.53 beautiful testimonies of how they were touched 00:26:42.56\00:26:45.07 by seeing how God would work so, 00:26:45.10\00:26:48.10 so this partnership that's occurred to serve 00:26:48.14\00:26:52.41 with the academies with Gideon Rescue 00:26:52.44\00:26:54.14 the way God's put it together. 00:26:54.18\00:26:56.21 It's become such a beautiful thing 00:26:56.24\00:26:58.61 in the development, the spiritual development 00:26:58.65\00:27:00.75 of our children. 00:27:00.78\00:27:03.05 Now you travel with literature, don't you? 00:27:03.08\00:27:06.02 Yes, ma'am. We have on us all the time. 00:27:06.05\00:27:08.02 You have GLOW tracts? 00:27:08.06\00:27:10.73 Which one is that? 00:27:10.76\00:27:12.56 Certainty in an uncertain world, 00:27:12.59\00:27:14.80 that one's by Mark Finley. 00:27:14.83\00:27:16.16 And this one actually is a really perfect tract. 00:27:16.20\00:27:19.33 Just nails it perfectly when we go to these disasters, 00:27:19.37\00:27:22.94 but we give away books too. 00:27:22.97\00:27:24.31 You do? 00:27:24.34\00:27:25.67 Yes, ma'am. 00:27:25.71\00:27:27.04 The Lord's gifted us with 00:27:27.08\00:27:28.68 several thousand dollars worth of literature. 00:27:28.71\00:27:31.41 As we prayed for it we said, "Lord, 00:27:31.45\00:27:33.85 we need supplies." 00:27:33.88\00:27:35.22 What kind of books? 00:27:35.25\00:27:36.58 Great Controversy, Desire of Ages, 00:27:36.62\00:27:39.25 Ministry of Healing, 00:27:39.29\00:27:40.62 Hope for Troubled Times, Steps to Christ. 00:27:40.66\00:27:44.03 What else? 00:27:44.06\00:27:45.39 Ten Commandments Twice Removed. 00:27:45.43\00:27:46.80 Yes. 00:27:46.83\00:27:48.36 And with a pastor on staff, it's good to have that. 00:27:48.40\00:27:50.67 Give you a chance to use all the gifts 00:27:50.70\00:27:52.83 that God has given to you. 00:27:52.87\00:27:54.74 This next door is really touching. 00:27:54.77\00:27:57.51 I think actually these next three or four photos 00:27:57.54\00:27:59.27 are going to be talking about this incident. 00:27:59.31\00:28:01.74 Tell us about the Gaither home, or Mrs. Gaither. 00:28:01.78\00:28:05.35 So it goes back to one of the questions 00:28:05.38\00:28:06.88 that you were asking, Angela, about 00:28:06.92\00:28:08.58 how do we know where it is that we're going to be, you know? 00:28:08.62\00:28:11.25 Yes, yes. 00:28:11.29\00:28:12.62 And Carl was actually with Mike, 00:28:12.65\00:28:15.19 one of our other team members. 00:28:15.22\00:28:16.56 And they were driving around together 00:28:16.59\00:28:17.93 just praying and asking like, 00:28:17.96\00:28:19.29 "Okay, God, where's the next mission?" 00:28:19.33\00:28:21.40 And they came into Cambridge Shores, 00:28:21.43\00:28:23.50 which is a community 00:28:23.53\00:28:25.13 that actually they had flown over AWA 00:28:25.17\00:28:27.24 when they had come in with their planes. 00:28:27.27\00:28:28.60 It actually circled over 00:28:28.64\00:28:29.97 this community and said, "You know what? 00:28:30.01\00:28:31.34 Something's telling us that this is a place 00:28:31.37\00:28:33.54 that we need to be." 00:28:33.58\00:28:34.91 And so they had gone to investigate 00:28:34.94\00:28:36.41 and they were there and they didn't know 00:28:36.44\00:28:37.78 where it was they're going to end up 00:28:37.81\00:28:39.15 with the whole community was wiped out. 00:28:39.18\00:28:40.52 It was a very well-to-do neighborhood 00:28:40.55\00:28:41.88 that was completely destroyed. 00:28:41.92\00:28:44.12 And as they were driving, they came to a wooden sign 00:28:44.15\00:28:47.92 that said the Gaither. 00:28:47.96\00:28:49.92 I think it said rest in peace. 00:28:49.96\00:28:51.79 And this was the only home 00:28:51.83\00:28:54.70 that actually had a casualty in this neighborhood. 00:28:54.73\00:28:57.73 And Mrs. Gaither, 00:28:57.77\00:28:59.43 unfortunately, lost her life in the storm. 00:28:59.47\00:29:01.24 She was a little bit older in her 80s, I believe. 00:29:01.27\00:29:04.11 And her daughter was there at the home, 00:29:04.14\00:29:07.51 searching through the rubble. 00:29:07.54\00:29:09.01 And when she saw Carl and our team she said, 00:29:09.04\00:29:12.21 "Please, can you help me?" 00:29:12.25\00:29:14.15 And he said, "Well, of course, like, we have 00:29:14.18\00:29:16.08 skid steer here with us and how can we help you?" 00:29:16.12\00:29:18.35 And she said, "Well, I'm looking for two items." 00:29:18.39\00:29:19.85 She said, "I'm looking for a safe 00:29:19.89\00:29:23.43 that has all of my mother's legal documents in it 00:29:23.46\00:29:26.66 and I'm looking for a little red camera." 00:29:26.70\00:29:31.07 When Carl heard that he said in his mind 00:29:31.10\00:29:33.20 he didn't tell her out loud but in his mind 00:29:33.23\00:29:34.64 he said there's no way we're finding your camera, 00:29:34.67\00:29:37.34 but maybe we can find the safe and so he said, "Of course, 00:29:37.37\00:29:39.87 we can help you so we began looking 00:29:39.91\00:29:41.54 and we brought the team over there. 00:29:41.58\00:29:43.41 We had a whole plan, we gridded off the area, 00:29:43.45\00:29:45.98 we were looking for this safe actually 00:29:46.01\00:29:48.68 what we were focusing on because... 00:29:48.72\00:29:50.05 A lot of rubble, right? 00:29:50.09\00:29:51.42 The rubble was indescribable in the pictures that you see. 00:29:51.45\00:29:54.62 Matter of fact you have a picture of you guys searching. 00:29:54.66\00:29:55.99 We do. 00:29:56.02\00:29:57.36 This is actually her home, 00:29:57.39\00:29:58.73 there's nothing left as you can see. 00:29:58.76\00:30:00.10 And you had to look through that. 00:30:00.13\00:30:01.46 We'd to look through that. 00:30:01.50\00:30:02.83 And then this is the team here assessing the situation 00:30:02.86\00:30:05.50 and we have the skid steer and you can see there's 00:30:05.53\00:30:07.67 just piles of debris everywhere, 00:30:07.70\00:30:09.04 where do you begin? How do you find it? 00:30:09.07\00:30:10.47 How do you find a camera on this? 00:30:10.51\00:30:12.21 Now mind you we did do 00:30:12.24\00:30:13.94 what was the most important thing 00:30:13.98\00:30:15.31 is we did stop and pray. 00:30:15.34\00:30:16.68 Amen. Yes. 00:30:16.71\00:30:18.05 But there was still lingering doubt of, 00:30:18.08\00:30:20.35 man, this could be a disappointment, right? 00:30:20.38\00:30:24.22 But still, we go, okay, God, if You want us to do this, 00:30:24.25\00:30:27.66 if you want us to find this and again 00:30:27.69\00:30:30.86 we were object fixated on the safe, 00:30:30.89\00:30:33.43 I'm thinking, okay, statistically speaking, 00:30:33.46\00:30:35.80 it's much larger than a camera. 00:30:35.83\00:30:37.40 Probably heavier. 00:30:37.43\00:30:39.27 So we should be able to find the safe. 00:30:39.30\00:30:41.27 We prayed and 2.5 hours into searching for it, 00:30:42.47\00:30:46.84 we found not the safe but the camera. 00:30:46.88\00:30:50.98 And Carl was in the skid steer 00:30:51.01\00:30:52.68 and he literally stopped and he said, 00:30:52.71\00:30:55.08 "Is that what I think it is?" 00:30:55.12\00:30:56.45 And the firefighter that had 00:30:56.48\00:30:57.82 pulled it out of the rubble said, 00:30:57.85\00:30:59.19 "It could be in there," 00:30:59.22\00:31:00.56 unzipped it and he said, "No way." 00:31:00.59\00:31:03.39 He said, "That's not the camera that we're looking for." 00:31:03.43\00:31:05.39 And sure enough, it was a red camera 00:31:05.43\00:31:07.10 and then he said, "No way, 00:31:07.13\00:31:08.46 there's no way that there are pictures on it," 00:31:08.50\00:31:09.83 because it's been through a storm. 00:31:09.86\00:31:11.20 It's been through a tornado. It's been drenched with rain. 00:31:11.23\00:31:12.87 Like there's nothing survivable on that camera. 00:31:12.90\00:31:16.07 And so we took it over to where we had a computer, 00:31:16.10\00:31:19.81 and the daughter was there and, 00:31:19.84\00:31:22.31 of course, everybody with bated breath and Mike, 00:31:22.34\00:31:25.51 who was a part of the team as well, he said, 00:31:25.55\00:31:27.88 I don't even need to stick around 00:31:27.92\00:31:29.25 and see that there's pictures on this, 00:31:29.28\00:31:30.62 I know there's pictures on there. 00:31:30.65\00:31:31.99 So I'm gonna keep looking for the safe. 00:31:32.02\00:31:33.36 So he left. 00:31:33.39\00:31:34.72 And Carl, of course, is wondering like is there, 00:31:34.76\00:31:37.63 can this absolutely be, and sure enough, 00:31:37.66\00:31:40.20 when we looked at the camera, 00:31:40.23\00:31:41.90 there were 350 pictures from their family. 00:31:41.93\00:31:46.53 Here's what's so incredible that her father had died 00:31:46.57\00:31:48.84 a few months before the storm. 00:31:48.87\00:31:51.34 Her mother had passed in the storm. 00:31:51.37\00:31:53.44 And on that camera, were the only pictures 00:31:53.48\00:31:56.21 that they had of the entire family. 00:31:56.24\00:32:00.92 They had no photos for the funeral 00:32:00.95\00:32:03.42 and this is a picture, the daughter is in green. 00:32:03.45\00:32:05.32 Her name is Tassie. 00:32:05.35\00:32:06.69 And she was absolutely weeping when we found this camera. 00:32:06.72\00:32:10.53 And it was a powerful moment which we could tell. 00:32:10.56\00:32:12.89 We said "Tassie, the Lord cares 00:32:12.93\00:32:15.33 so much for you 00:32:15.36\00:32:17.07 that He would search all of this rubble 00:32:17.10\00:32:18.93 and preserve this camera 00:32:18.97\00:32:20.30 because He loves you and cares for you." 00:32:20.34\00:32:22.14 Wow. 00:32:22.17\00:32:23.51 And that kind of hope and encouragement 00:32:23.54\00:32:25.87 is what gives people the opportunity 00:32:25.91\00:32:28.28 to make it through an incredible crisis. 00:32:28.31\00:32:30.78 Meredith, you were there when this happened? 00:32:30.81\00:32:33.72 No, no, I was not. 00:32:33.75\00:32:35.12 She was searching with the dogs in another place. 00:32:35.15\00:32:37.79 But it was very emotional, wasn't it? 00:32:37.82\00:32:39.72 Yes. Yes, it is. 00:32:39.75\00:32:41.09 I mean, I'm just feeling that whole thing. 00:32:41.12\00:32:43.39 You have the remnants of your family 00:32:43.43\00:32:44.76 and you're wondering, my mom's gone, my dad's gone, 00:32:44.79\00:32:47.30 how am I gonna make it? 00:32:47.33\00:32:48.66 The pictures don't even tell the story, 00:32:51.57\00:32:53.20 but it still communicate 00:32:53.23\00:32:55.27 what a valuable moment that was. 00:32:55.30\00:32:57.27 Another neat connection in that is one of the volunteers 00:32:57.31\00:33:01.38 that came up from Texas, 00:33:01.41\00:33:02.98 that he happened to live in the same neighborhood 00:33:03.01\00:33:05.38 as this daughter in Texas. 00:33:05.41\00:33:06.75 He's like, I'm going to have to have you over for dinner 00:33:06.78\00:33:09.85 and so even there... 00:33:09.88\00:33:11.45 Divine appointments. It's divine. 00:33:11.49\00:33:13.15 It's a spiritual golden hour. 00:33:13.19\00:33:15.12 Yeah, you mentioned the spiritual golden hour. 00:33:15.16\00:33:17.76 And spiritual golden hour is simply 00:33:17.79\00:33:20.40 a concept that we've seen 00:33:20.43\00:33:21.76 over and over in these disasters 00:33:21.80\00:33:23.63 is you ask the question, 00:33:23.67\00:33:25.03 what is most needful in a disaster? 00:33:25.07\00:33:27.70 Is it food? Is it water? 00:33:27.74\00:33:29.70 Is it shelter? 00:33:29.74\00:33:31.07 Is it rescue from your housetop, 00:33:31.11\00:33:33.11 if you're in the midst of a flood? 00:33:33.14\00:33:35.04 All of these things are necessary. 00:33:35.08\00:33:36.78 But what's interesting is that 00:33:36.81\00:33:38.58 the greatest need 00:33:38.61\00:33:39.95 actually is none of those things. 00:33:39.98\00:33:41.82 Because we've demonstrated this even in a survival situation, 00:33:41.85\00:33:46.09 that you can go, you know, days without food, 00:33:46.12\00:33:50.36 weeks without food. 00:33:50.39\00:33:51.73 You can go days without water. 00:33:51.76\00:33:53.09 You know, you can even 00:33:53.13\00:33:54.46 hold your breath for a few minutes, 00:33:54.50\00:33:56.00 but you can't even go 00:33:56.03\00:33:57.73 a minute or a second without hope. 00:33:57.77\00:33:59.67 The minute you give up hope, you're done. 00:33:59.70\00:34:02.10 And so we recognize this in our human experience 00:34:02.14\00:34:04.74 that hope is actually 00:34:04.77\00:34:06.11 the most important in the hierarchy of needs. 00:34:06.14\00:34:08.11 And so that's what we call 00:34:08.14\00:34:09.48 the spiritual golden hour is that 00:34:09.51\00:34:10.85 when a disaster happens, when a crisis happens, 00:34:10.88\00:34:13.05 the clock is actually ticking 00:34:13.08\00:34:14.78 in which time is of the essence 00:34:14.82\00:34:17.15 to reach people and gives people hope. 00:34:17.19\00:34:19.22 That's right. It's beautiful. 00:34:19.25\00:34:20.59 What about the red phone? What is that about? 00:34:20.62\00:34:24.33 The red camera? 00:34:24.36\00:34:25.69 That's what we found there in the camera. 00:34:25.73\00:34:27.06 Oh, it's a camera. 00:34:27.10\00:34:28.96 Yeah, I was thinking of camera phone. 00:34:29.00\00:34:30.73 Somehow that caught me 00:34:30.77\00:34:32.63 but tell us this disaster is replete, 00:34:32.67\00:34:37.34 pregnant with some amazing stories. 00:34:37.37\00:34:39.41 Tell us about Reed, this gentleman of Special Ops. 00:34:39.44\00:34:42.94 Well, I'd have to pass that to Wils 00:34:42.98\00:34:45.11 because he and I were actually searching 00:34:45.15\00:34:47.62 for another mission. 00:34:47.65\00:34:48.98 We had been asked to look for 00:34:49.02\00:34:51.79 an older lady who was in her home 00:34:51.82\00:34:53.32 and she thanked the Lord was not there. 00:34:53.36\00:34:55.69 She was safe in another location. 00:34:55.72\00:34:58.46 Yes, part of this is scouting out 00:34:58.49\00:35:02.13 other areas having God open other doors 00:35:02.16\00:35:05.17 and we had discovered a couple 00:35:05.20\00:35:08.54 who were untouched as far as 00:35:08.57\00:35:10.74 the work crews that were there 00:35:10.77\00:35:12.21 and the Heritage Academy kids came over 00:35:12.24\00:35:13.88 and started just getting to it. 00:35:13.91\00:35:16.54 And they had asked us to go check 00:35:16.58\00:35:18.41 on this older neighbor, 90 years old, 00:35:18.45\00:35:21.12 and at the same time, we said, 00:35:21.15\00:35:22.88 "Hey, we'll do that, 00:35:22.92\00:35:24.25 we have a two by two principle in Gideon Rescue 00:35:24.29\00:35:27.86 that two of us go together." 00:35:27.89\00:35:29.92 So Brock goes, "Hey, come on, let's go." 00:35:29.96\00:35:31.89 I said, "Okay." 00:35:31.93\00:35:33.26 And we went and realized 00:35:33.29\00:35:36.53 that she'd been taken care of and we looked over, 00:35:36.56\00:35:39.20 and there's a house down by the water 00:35:39.23\00:35:41.07 that you can't see from the upper road. 00:35:41.10\00:35:44.17 Its debris is just scattered everywhere 00:35:44.21\00:35:47.08 and it's basically hidden, 00:35:47.11\00:35:48.61 but there's smoke coming out of the chimney 00:35:48.64\00:35:50.45 and we went. 00:35:50.48\00:35:51.81 It was still standing? 00:35:51.85\00:35:53.18 It was still standing, but it was covered 00:35:53.21\00:35:54.82 and surrounded by fallen trees including the pickup truck. 00:35:54.85\00:35:58.92 The pickup truck hadn't been touched. 00:35:58.95\00:36:01.42 And we go, we should go check to see if they're okay. 00:36:01.46\00:36:04.83 And we went around the corner. 00:36:04.86\00:36:06.43 We couldn't get in through the front door. 00:36:06.46\00:36:07.80 We went around on the back deck, 00:36:07.83\00:36:09.86 and the windows are blown out. 00:36:09.90\00:36:11.83 We knock on the door and out stumbles 00:36:11.87\00:36:13.80 this Special Forces soldier who is intoxicated. 00:36:13.84\00:36:18.41 And it was very difficult to carry on a conversation 00:36:18.44\00:36:22.01 but we said, "Hey, we'd love to help you. 00:36:22.04\00:36:25.38 We have a group of people 00:36:25.41\00:36:26.85 who would love to help clear your debris out. 00:36:26.88\00:36:28.85 We noticed that you have some stuff here 00:36:28.88\00:36:31.72 that could use some work and we want to help you." 00:36:31.75\00:36:33.62 And he said, "I don't want your help." 00:36:33.66\00:36:35.99 He goes, "I'm just gonna burn the house down 00:36:36.02\00:36:38.63 and burn everything in place." 00:36:38.66\00:36:41.33 We're like, wow. 00:36:41.36\00:36:43.70 So, we talked to him some more, 00:36:43.73\00:36:45.70 we let him know that we were there to help him, 00:36:45.73\00:36:48.70 not to hurt him. 00:36:48.74\00:36:50.81 And finally, he agrees to allow us 00:36:50.84\00:36:53.38 to clean his driveway the very least. 00:36:53.41\00:36:55.58 We said, "Hey, we'll get right to it." 00:36:55.61\00:36:58.28 He said, "But can we pray for you?" So 00:36:58.31\00:37:00.75 he says, "Yeah, I guess so." 00:37:00.78\00:37:03.12 So we pray for him and then we get to work 00:37:03.15\00:37:06.42 and then pretty soon our AWA pilot, 00:37:06.45\00:37:08.92 our Marine has a chance to talk to him 00:37:08.96\00:37:11.76 brother soldier to brother soldier, right, 00:37:11.79\00:37:13.70 the golden hour, the spiritual golden hour. 00:37:13.73\00:37:16.23 And here we have brother soldier 00:37:16.26\00:37:17.60 to brother soldier 00:37:17.63\00:37:18.97 and all of a sudden the wall start coming down. 00:37:19.00\00:37:21.14 Reed tells us of his giving up hope 00:37:21.17\00:37:26.07 that he had a rope in a tree 00:37:26.11\00:37:28.58 that he was ready to end it all 00:37:28.61\00:37:31.51 and that this storm had come through 00:37:31.55\00:37:33.45 and had taken the tree with the rope in it. 00:37:33.48\00:37:36.25 He was angry about it. 00:37:36.28\00:37:37.62 The Lord said, "You're not killing yourself. 00:37:37.65\00:37:39.75 I gotta send the storm to save you." 00:37:39.79\00:37:41.52 That's an ironic, bittersweet. 00:37:41.56\00:37:44.03 And so God goes here's how much I love you Reed. 00:37:44.06\00:37:46.59 I'm gonna send some people to you 00:37:46.63\00:37:50.63 who are going to care for you, 00:37:50.67\00:37:52.00 who are going to help clean your driveway up, 00:37:52.03\00:37:53.74 not only that, but I'm going to send a brother soldier 00:37:53.77\00:37:55.80 to talk to you about what you're going through 00:37:55.84\00:37:57.84 with PTSD and to top that off, Reed. 00:37:57.87\00:38:01.61 I'm going to have your favorite NASCAR driver 00:38:01.64\00:38:03.75 clear your driveway. 00:38:03.78\00:38:05.78 What? There he is. 00:41:59.48\00:42:01.88 He put down his video controller 00:42:01.92\00:42:03.39 and got his steel saw, I think. 00:42:03.42\00:42:04.82 Yeah. 00:42:04.85\00:42:06.86 We didn't know who this guy was 00:42:06.89\00:42:08.49 because when you're in a disaster zone, 00:42:08.52\00:42:10.13 you have so many people that are coming and going 00:42:10.16\00:42:12.26 volunteers and team members 00:42:12.29\00:42:14.03 and sometimes you don't know who's working next to you. 00:42:14.06\00:42:16.23 And this gentleman, we thought he was a part of 2Serve 00:42:16.26\00:42:18.50 and Heritage Academy, but come to find out 00:42:18.53\00:42:20.70 he had no relation to Heritage Academy. 00:42:20.74\00:42:22.87 And he was standing right next to me 00:42:22.90\00:42:24.37 when we were singing Amazing Grace. 00:42:24.41\00:42:26.17 And as soon as we got done, he turned to me and he said, 00:42:26.21\00:42:28.44 "That song was for me." 00:42:28.48\00:42:31.21 And so then this whole story tumbles out 00:42:31.25\00:42:33.38 about him sitting on his couch, playing video games 00:42:33.42\00:42:35.52 and God was just like, get up off that couch 00:42:35.55\00:42:37.52 and go to Kentucky and he does. 00:42:37.55\00:42:39.42 He obeys and connects with this team 00:42:39.45\00:42:41.89 and from that point forward, gives his life to Christ, 00:42:41.92\00:42:44.69 you know, kneeling there on the ground 00:42:44.73\00:42:47.23 in this disaster zone, he gives his life to Jesus. 00:42:47.26\00:42:51.60 That is the exact spot where we kneel down, 00:42:51.63\00:42:53.54 we're walking back up the driveway 00:42:53.57\00:42:55.07 in the middle of a debris field and that was where 00:42:55.10\00:42:58.37 we just knelt and prayed and sought heaven's grace. 00:42:58.41\00:43:02.51 That's you in the yellow? 00:43:02.54\00:43:03.88 Yes, Sir. 00:43:03.91\00:43:05.25 That's not even yellow, it's like mega yellow. 00:43:05.28\00:43:08.15 You can find me at night. Yeah. 00:43:08.18\00:43:10.59 I would like to appeal to our listeners, 00:43:10.62\00:43:12.19 though, our viewers 00:43:12.22\00:43:14.99 in that if you feel that impulse, 00:43:15.02\00:43:18.96 that still small voice listen to it. 00:43:18.99\00:43:24.10 If you hear God's voice, answer it today. 00:43:24.13\00:43:27.64 And that's what I want to say because that was how Daniel 00:43:27.67\00:43:32.77 was in that place is because he listened to that 00:43:32.81\00:43:35.88 still small voice and he obeyed it. 00:43:35.91\00:43:38.68 And so, I want to appeal to you. 00:43:38.71\00:43:40.85 If God is calling you into whatever ministry, 00:43:40.88\00:43:43.15 whether it's doing some type of service 00:43:43.18\00:43:45.65 in your very own neighborhood, listen to it. 00:43:45.69\00:43:47.92 Amen. 00:43:47.96\00:43:49.29 Wow, how long was the team on the ground? 00:43:49.32\00:43:52.69 So we had a leapfrog response, 00:43:52.73\00:43:56.80 in the sense that we have team members who come 00:43:56.83\00:43:58.87 for a certain amount of time, they can stay. 00:43:58.90\00:44:00.60 Then because we're all volunteers, 00:44:00.64\00:44:01.97 we actually do have full time jobs 00:44:02.00\00:44:03.67 and responsibilities that we have 00:44:03.71\00:44:05.04 to take care of home as well. 00:44:05.07\00:44:06.41 So it depends on who can stay 00:44:06.44\00:44:08.94 and who can come and who can go. 00:44:08.98\00:44:11.05 And we were probably there for 00:44:11.08\00:44:12.41 a couple of weeks on the ground. 00:44:12.45\00:44:13.78 And then even continuing past that, 00:44:13.82\00:44:15.42 we've sent many other teams back as well 00:44:15.45\00:44:17.72 and other people who have said, 00:44:17.75\00:44:19.09 "Hey, I want to go and help 00:44:19.12\00:44:20.46 because these communities are devastated." 00:44:20.49\00:44:22.22 They'll be devastated until Jesus comes. 00:44:22.26\00:44:25.53 I mean, these communities are completely wiped off 00:44:25.56\00:44:27.73 the map and where do you even begin? 00:44:27.76\00:44:29.90 And so it takes a long time, 00:44:29.93\00:44:31.27 the rebuilding process is a very long process. 00:44:31.30\00:44:34.90 Right 'cause you're talking about... 00:44:34.94\00:44:36.27 You can talk about infrastructure. 00:44:36.30\00:44:38.04 I was just thinking we have someone from our church 00:44:38.07\00:44:41.11 that has been helping in Kentucky. 00:44:41.14\00:44:45.91 Matter of fact he is getting rebaptized. 00:44:45.95\00:44:48.38 He put off his baptism to say, 00:44:48.42\00:44:50.25 hey, I'm down here ministering 00:44:50.29\00:44:52.05 and we sent some funds with him to also help out 00:44:52.09\00:44:55.46 in the various, various different organizations 00:44:55.49\00:44:59.46 that we're having, organizations to help out there 00:44:59.49\00:45:02.10 and he was sharing some of the stories with you Sabbath 00:45:02.13\00:45:04.50 about what's taking place down there. 00:45:04.53\00:45:06.00 We have a 32-second video, 00:45:06.03\00:45:07.37 I want to let the audience have viewing and see 00:45:07.40\00:45:10.34 and then describe to us what we're just watching here? 00:45:10.37\00:45:12.57 Sure. 00:45:12.61\00:45:13.94 This is the moment of singing to Reed Amazing Grace. 00:45:18.45\00:45:23.69 There he is in the center there with Doug behind him. 00:45:23.72\00:45:27.26 In fact, Doug is actually helping with his cell phone 00:45:27.29\00:45:29.12 because he was so excited. 00:45:29.16\00:45:30.59 He wanted to stream it on Facebook Live. 00:45:30.63\00:45:33.40 So this song is actually being streamed on Facebook Live 00:45:33.43\00:45:37.37 as we're singing Amazing Grace to him, 00:45:37.40\00:45:39.27 the students there from Heritage Academy. 00:45:39.30\00:45:41.80 This is a moment 00:45:41.84\00:45:44.07 where you recognize you stand on holy ground. 00:45:44.11\00:45:47.78 And it's that special 00:45:47.81\00:45:49.81 and so it's an incredible opportunity 00:45:49.84\00:45:52.51 to be a part of God's work in rescuing souls. 00:45:52.55\00:45:57.19 Were you there, Dana, part of this? 00:45:57.22\00:45:59.22 Yeah, I came a few days afterward. 00:45:59.25\00:46:02.02 So I was able to help it with the debris clean up 00:46:02.06\00:46:04.16 and be part of those stories in the Cambridge Shores area, 00:46:04.19\00:46:06.90 but then also close to the downtown, 00:46:06.93\00:46:09.80 the downtown was devastated. 00:46:09.83\00:46:11.17 There are some neighborhoods 00:46:11.20\00:46:12.53 close to there that were devastated 00:46:12.57\00:46:13.90 and our team also partnered to help set up a pod 00:46:13.94\00:46:16.97 at a Baptist Church in a little warehouse 00:46:17.01\00:46:19.24 that had been devastated. 00:46:19.27\00:46:20.71 And so you have complete devastation in that area, 00:46:20.74\00:46:22.71 and then houses right next door 00:46:22.74\00:46:25.05 that are still standing, some are condemned, 00:46:25.08\00:46:26.78 some of the vehicles have been destroyed. 00:46:26.82\00:46:29.22 One of the beautiful things of the hearts of volunteers 00:46:29.25\00:46:33.46 just wanting to come in and help however they can. 00:46:33.49\00:46:35.82 And people just coming and contacting the local church. 00:46:35.86\00:46:38.63 We're coming. 00:46:38.66\00:46:40.00 I got a phone call one morning saying, 00:46:40.03\00:46:41.90 hey, we're 15 minutes away from Mayfield, 00:46:41.93\00:46:44.63 8 o'clock in the morning. 00:46:44.67\00:46:46.00 And we have 220-foot trailers full of donations we collected, 00:46:46.03\00:46:49.70 we want to distribute them to the communities. 00:46:49.74\00:46:52.57 What he did not know is that 00:46:52.61\00:46:54.58 just the love and support from across the nation 00:46:54.61\00:46:57.25 that these warehouses, these pods 00:46:57.28\00:46:59.38 were full and no longer taking donations anywhere. 00:46:59.41\00:47:02.68 And I prayed God, "What are we going to do? 00:47:02.72\00:47:04.99 God, You put it on their heart, 00:47:05.02\00:47:06.49 you put it on the hearts of the people 00:47:06.52\00:47:07.86 to supply these things. 00:47:07.89\00:47:09.22 What are we going to do?" 00:47:09.26\00:47:10.59 And so we ended up taking them 00:47:10.63\00:47:12.56 throughout the neighborhoods and just going through 00:47:12.59\00:47:14.46 the neighborhoods and knocking on the doors. 00:47:14.50\00:47:16.20 Do you need towels? Do you need blankets? 00:47:16.23\00:47:17.93 Do you need non-perishables? 00:47:17.97\00:47:19.77 And again, these people also had $25 gift certificates 00:47:19.80\00:47:23.20 for Walmart handing out $50 bills to people in need. 00:47:23.24\00:47:27.01 And so this was just an amazing part of being able to use 00:47:27.04\00:47:29.68 literature evangelism skills to just 00:47:29.71\00:47:31.65 go knock on those doors. 00:47:31.68\00:47:33.31 Pray for the people. 00:47:33.35\00:47:35.35 We prayed for a couple of people that 00:47:35.38\00:47:37.52 really touched my heart. 00:47:37.55\00:47:38.89 One guy, his house had been destroyed 00:47:38.92\00:47:41.32 a few blocks away. 00:47:41.36\00:47:42.69 He was staying at his girlfriend's sister's house. 00:47:42.72\00:47:46.93 And, again, lost everything and I said 00:47:46.96\00:47:49.60 after we gave him a load of things, 00:47:49.63\00:47:51.83 I said, "Is there anything we can pray for you for." 00:47:51.87\00:47:53.80 And he said, "Pray for my health." 00:47:53.84\00:47:55.54 I asked for anything specific regarding his health. 00:47:55.57\00:47:57.81 He said, "I have cancer in my brain, 00:47:57.84\00:47:59.74 and it has spread to the rest of my body," 00:47:59.77\00:48:01.91 about 30 years old. 00:48:01.94\00:48:03.51 So I said, "We're gonna stop and pray for you right here 00:48:03.55\00:48:05.85 and pray for God's healing over your life, 00:48:05.88\00:48:08.12 that God would have the grace to extend your life." 00:48:08.15\00:48:10.65 And then just another short story. 00:48:10.69\00:48:12.39 A few days later, 00:48:12.42\00:48:14.69 we were still just trying to get rid of some 00:48:14.72\00:48:16.22 of these donations and one of the homes 00:48:16.26\00:48:17.89 I knocked on the last door for that day. 00:48:17.93\00:48:20.50 It was a young girl who was pregnant, 00:48:20.53\00:48:22.43 probably in her early 20s. 00:48:22.46\00:48:24.13 And when I talked to her, found out 00:48:24.17\00:48:25.50 she was about seven months pregnant, 00:48:25.53\00:48:26.94 she'd lost her job a few months before 00:48:26.97\00:48:29.34 her contractions had been going. 00:48:29.37\00:48:31.04 She just wasn't quite sure how to navigate it. 00:48:31.07\00:48:32.97 Her husband had been trying to pick up more shifts, 00:48:33.01\00:48:35.31 and she had been out of a job, 00:48:35.34\00:48:37.21 both of their cars were damaged, 00:48:37.25\00:48:38.88 her cars and so no vehicles, 00:48:38.91\00:48:41.32 and so to be able to unload 00:48:41.35\00:48:43.08 so many things for them 00:48:43.12\00:48:44.45 with the non-perishables and everything, 00:48:44.49\00:48:46.39 and found out that this child is something that they've been 00:48:46.42\00:48:49.92 so excited about because previously 00:48:49.96\00:48:51.99 she had been a 16-year-old pregnant girl 00:48:52.03\00:48:55.16 and had to give that child away 00:48:55.20\00:48:57.13 and her husband had a child previously, 00:48:57.17\00:48:59.47 and it had died in an unfortunate situation 00:48:59.50\00:49:01.70 and so here we are 00:49:01.74\00:49:03.07 able to leave literature about grief. 00:49:03.10\00:49:04.87 Here we are able to pray and give cash donations 00:49:04.91\00:49:08.04 that people have given to give to these people. 00:49:08.08\00:49:10.38 Amen. You know, that's amazing. 00:49:10.41\00:49:11.98 This story is phenomenal when it comes 00:49:12.01\00:49:13.95 to what the Lord has allowed you guys to do. 00:49:13.98\00:49:15.72 I want to also show this 30-second video here 00:49:15.75\00:49:18.32 the before and after. 00:49:18.35\00:49:19.85 And let's just roll that right now. 00:49:19.89\00:49:21.26 Yeah. 00:49:21.29\00:49:22.62 Wow, right to the cross. 00:49:58.06\00:50:00.60 You know, what's so powerful about the video 00:50:00.63\00:50:02.36 is at the cross was where these gentlemen know 00:50:02.40\00:50:05.57 and Daniel gave his life to Christ. 00:50:05.60\00:50:08.37 Was that a cross that was existing there 00:50:08.40\00:50:10.54 or you guys made that? 00:50:10.57\00:50:11.91 No, in fact, that was carved post the experience of kneeling 00:50:11.94\00:50:16.61 and I don't know if it was done by Reed himself 00:50:16.64\00:50:18.51 or by someone else but that was the exact spot 00:50:18.55\00:50:21.75 and it was discovered later, 00:50:21.78\00:50:23.12 which was how I put it poignant for everybody, 00:50:23.15\00:50:26.65 poignant in a good way 00:50:26.69\00:50:28.59 because it really emphasized how much God is watching out 00:50:28.62\00:50:32.46 and taking care and concern for us. 00:50:32.49\00:50:34.63 You know, before we go on our news break, 00:50:34.66\00:50:36.06 I want to just run a little bit of that 00:50:36.10\00:50:37.57 Amazing Grace because that was such a pivotal song 00:50:37.60\00:50:40.37 and what happened at that spot. 00:50:40.40\00:50:42.44 And just before we go out to the news break 00:50:42.47\00:50:45.57 just listen to that song, 00:50:45.61\00:50:47.74 as it just reminds us that God's grace is available 00:50:47.78\00:50:50.85 and present in every situation. 00:50:50.88\00:50:52.78 Sweet the sound 00:50:54.05\00:50:57.59 That saved a wretch 00:50:57.62\00:51:02.56 Like me 00:51:02.59\00:51:07.10 I once was lost 00:51:07.13\00:51:12.27 But now I am found 00:51:12.30\00:51:17.21 Was blind but now 00:51:17.24\00:51:22.34 I see 00:51:22.38\00:51:25.31 Wow. 00:51:25.35\00:51:26.68 You've seen and heard 00:51:26.72\00:51:28.18 the testimonies of GRC. 00:51:28.22\00:51:32.49 And I would encourage you to get involved. 00:51:32.52\00:51:35.49 We're going to take a short news break 00:51:35.52\00:51:37.03 and come back and give two more minutes 00:51:37.06\00:51:39.43 to close out our program so don't go away. 00:51:39.46\00:51:42.46 We'll be right back. 00:51:42.50\00:51:44.27 If you would like to contact 00:51:45.93\00:51:47.27 or know more about Gideon Rescue Company, 00:51:47.30\00:51:49.57 you can do so in the following ways. 00:51:49.60\00:51:51.37 You can write to them at 222 Caddo Creek Road, 00:51:51.41\00:51:55.71 Ardmore, Oklahoma 73401. 00:51:55.74\00:51:59.51 You can visit their website at gideonrescue.org 00:51:59.55\00:52:03.18 That's gideonrescue.org or send them an email 00:52:03.22\00:52:07.36 at gideonrescue@protonmail.com 00:52:07.39\00:52:11.03 That's gideonrescue@protonmail.com 00:52:11.06\00:52:15.10
