00:02:25.81\00:02:27.18 Absolutely. 00:02:27.21\00:02:28.58 It's so important to take care of this body 00:02:28.61\00:02:31.25 that the Lord has given to us, 00:02:31.28\00:02:32.91 to have it being optimized to good health. 00:02:32.95\00:02:36.28 And we appreciate you being here, doctor... 00:02:36.32\00:02:39.19 I shouldn't say doctor. 00:02:39.22\00:02:40.59 Mr. McIntosh, right? 00:02:40.62\00:02:43.29 And I just appreciate you being here. 00:02:43.32\00:02:45.76 And all through the years, 00:02:45.79\00:02:47.13 we used to see these wonderful health nuggets 00:02:47.16\00:02:49.03 that you gave on 3ABN about an apple a day 00:02:49.06\00:02:52.57 or drinking water. 00:02:52.60\00:02:53.97 It's been very good. 00:02:54.00\00:02:56.54 Well, tell us about what you do. 00:02:56.57\00:02:58.77 Health educator and lifestyle interventionist. 00:02:58.81\00:03:01.94 Let our audience... 00:03:01.98\00:03:03.31 Give an overview of what that is? 00:03:03.35\00:03:06.21 Well, my gift is teaching and so I'm a teacher. 00:03:06.25\00:03:10.29 Yes. 00:03:10.32\00:03:11.65 And I educate about health, 00:03:11.69\00:03:13.89 both the science and the biblical basis 00:03:13.92\00:03:17.13 for the science. 00:03:17.16\00:03:18.86 And so what I do also is I help people to intervene. 00:03:18.89\00:03:24.30 In other words, how do you actually implement 00:03:24.33\00:03:27.37 an exercise program, for instance? 00:03:27.40\00:03:29.40 How do you make the dietary changes? 00:03:29.44\00:03:31.87 That's the intervention part of what I do. 00:03:31.91\00:03:35.94 But today, what I want to talk about 00:03:35.98\00:03:39.05 is something called biblical health reform. 00:03:39.08\00:03:42.12 Okay. 00:03:42.15\00:03:43.49 And it's based on a concept 00:03:43.52\00:03:46.76 that I heard about actually back in 1974 00:03:46.79\00:03:49.86 when I was first converted. 00:03:49.89\00:03:52.36 I was listening to a presentation 00:03:52.39\00:03:54.30 and the person said the principles of health reform 00:03:54.33\00:03:58.90 are found in the Word of God. 00:03:58.93\00:04:02.37 And that really piqued my curiosity. 00:04:02.40\00:04:04.64 I thought, "Oh, that's in the Bible? 00:04:04.67\00:04:06.47 Really?" 00:04:06.51\00:04:07.84 So I started to research and look. 00:04:07.88\00:04:11.15 And the Lord opened my eyes and I started in Genesis. 00:04:11.18\00:04:16.15 Okay. 00:04:16.18\00:04:17.52 And it's been a wonderful education 00:04:17.55\00:04:21.22 since that time to help people to understand 00:04:21.26\00:04:24.79 that those principles of health 00:04:24.83\00:04:26.49 we're living actually are found in God's Word. 00:04:26.53\00:04:28.66 That's right. 00:04:28.70\00:04:30.03 In the beginning, 00:04:30.07\00:04:31.40 when the Lord created man and woman, 00:04:31.43\00:04:32.77 He gave us an ideal plan. 00:04:32.80\00:04:34.84 It's kind of like buying a car and getting an owner's manual. 00:04:34.87\00:04:39.04 And they tell you what the proper approaches 00:04:39.07\00:04:42.48 will be to keep the vehicle running 00:04:42.51\00:04:44.48 in optimum health. 00:04:44.51\00:04:45.85 I'd like you to walk us through that with... 00:04:45.88\00:04:47.75 Just tell us how are these principles applied 00:04:47.78\00:04:50.59 and start walking us through 00:04:50.62\00:04:52.19 some of these scriptural concepts. 00:04:52.22\00:04:55.16 Sure. 00:04:55.19\00:04:56.52 Well, again, we begin in Genesis, 00:04:56.56\00:04:58.99 you know, where it says, "In the beginning, 00:04:59.03\00:05:00.80 God created the heavens and the earth." 00:05:00.83\00:05:03.50 And then He said, "Let us make man in our image 00:05:03.53\00:05:06.33 and in our likeness." 00:05:06.37\00:05:08.77 What that means, of course, is that we look like Him, 00:05:08.80\00:05:12.31 but we also had His character. 00:05:12.34\00:05:15.41 And so God is the creator and the owner of everything. 00:05:15.44\00:05:20.55 In the Psalms it says that the earth is the Lord's 00:05:20.58\00:05:24.09 and the fullness thereof, the world, 00:05:24.12\00:05:26.92 and them that dwell therein. 00:05:26.96\00:05:28.29 There is nothing in this world that doesn't belong to God. 00:05:28.32\00:05:32.89 And so we as His created beings 00:05:32.93\00:05:37.50 who were made in His image, we belong to Him. 00:05:37.53\00:05:41.10 And the question... It begs a question. 00:05:41.14\00:05:43.54 The question is why were we created? 00:05:43.57\00:05:46.31 And the answer to that is found in the Book of Isaiah 00:05:46.34\00:05:49.48 Chapter 43, actually. 00:05:49.51\00:05:51.71 And it says, "Bring my sons from afar. 00:05:51.75\00:05:54.45 Even those called by my name, 00:05:54.48\00:05:57.29 for I have created him for my glory. 00:05:57.32\00:06:03.02 I have formed him, yea, I have made him." 00:06:03.06\00:06:07.10 And so we were made to glorify God. 00:06:07.13\00:06:12.30 And in 1 Corinthians, 00:06:12.33\00:06:16.67 we see that, "Do you not know that 00:06:16.71\00:06:19.71 you are the temple of the living God? 00:06:19.74\00:06:23.04 For you are bought with a price. 00:06:23.08\00:06:26.18 Therefore, glorify God," notice, 00:06:26.21\00:06:29.52 "in your body, 00:06:29.55\00:06:32.05 and in your spirit, which are His." 00:06:32.09\00:06:33.99 And as a health educator, 00:06:34.02\00:06:35.96 I'm very interested in that concept 00:06:35.99\00:06:38.06 of glorifying God in the body. 00:06:38.09\00:06:41.90 Okay. 00:06:41.93\00:06:43.50 In 1 Corinthians 10, 00:06:43.53\00:06:45.23 we find another interesting declaration 00:06:45.27\00:06:51.21 by the Apostle Paul through the Holy Spirit, 00:06:51.24\00:06:55.74 "Whether therefore you eat or drink 00:06:55.78\00:06:59.61 or whatever you do, do all to the glory of God." 00:06:59.65\00:07:04.92 Notice that theme of the glory of God 00:07:04.95\00:07:08.16 coming through the scriptures to help us to realize 00:07:08.19\00:07:12.26 that we are to glorify God in all that we do. 00:07:12.29\00:07:15.46 Okay. 00:07:15.50\00:07:16.83 And it... You know, that begs a question. 00:07:16.87\00:07:19.17 Do most Christians eat and drink to the glory of God? 00:07:19.20\00:07:22.77 And what does it mean when it says all? 00:07:22.80\00:07:28.61 Do all to the glory of God? 00:07:28.64\00:07:30.38 It means every dimension of our lives 00:07:30.41\00:07:33.25 need to be touched by the glory of God. 00:07:33.28\00:07:37.09 And that is the purpose of our existence. 00:07:37.12\00:07:40.69 I could see that... 00:07:40.72\00:07:42.06 So... Yeah, when you... 00:07:42.09\00:07:43.43 So that is really why we do what we do 00:07:43.46\00:07:48.30 and why I educate. 00:07:48.33\00:07:50.47 Now, of course, in order to look 00:07:50.50\00:07:54.30 at the dimensions of health, 00:07:54.34\00:07:56.71 we again have to go back to Genesis to the Eden diet. 00:07:56.74\00:08:02.31 Now you notice I didn't call it the vegan diet 00:08:02.34\00:08:05.15 or the vegetarian diet or any other name. 00:08:05.18\00:08:09.62 Yes. That's true. 00:08:09.65\00:08:10.99 I call it the Eden diet. 00:08:11.02\00:08:12.45 Sometimes I do refer to it as a plant-based diet 00:08:12.49\00:08:15.09 because it is plant-based, 00:08:15.12\00:08:19.13 but this was God's idea. 00:08:19.16\00:08:21.63 Notice, it says, 00:08:21.66\00:08:23.77 "The fruit shall be for your food 00:08:23.80\00:08:26.53 and seed bearing plants." 00:08:26.57\00:08:29.67 Well, that's, that's the definition 00:08:29.70\00:08:32.24 of a plant-based diet. 00:08:32.27\00:08:33.61 That's true. 00:08:33.64\00:08:34.98 And so we go back to Genesis 00:08:35.01\00:08:37.88 to see the perfect diet for human beings. 00:08:37.91\00:08:43.08 It's there. 00:08:43.12\00:08:44.75 But then the question is, 00:08:44.79\00:08:47.09 well, how do we implement that? 00:08:47.12\00:08:52.69 Are we free to just eat any time 00:08:52.73\00:08:56.10 of the day? 00:08:56.13\00:08:59.03 Do we just snack, you know, and do all those things 00:08:59.07\00:09:02.50 that create so much trouble that we see in America? 00:09:02.54\00:09:07.11 Well, let me throw you a question. 00:09:07.14\00:09:08.48 Yeah. 00:09:08.51\00:09:09.84 Well, let me throw you a question 00:09:09.88\00:09:11.21 because you did bring us some amazing... 00:09:11.25\00:09:12.58 I like the fact that you established it 00:09:12.61\00:09:13.95 on Scripture, showing... 00:09:13.98\00:09:15.32 And I appreciate that that is an Eden diet. 00:09:15.35\00:09:17.72 'Cause a lot of people say, "Are you a vegan? 00:09:17.75\00:09:19.42 Are you a vegetarian?" Right. 00:09:19.45\00:09:20.79 Is this something that's a part of your church? 00:09:20.82\00:09:23.19 Is this a part of your doctrine? 00:09:23.22\00:09:24.79 And I like the fact that Jack McIntosh said it was... 00:09:24.83\00:09:26.76 Biblical. 00:09:26.80\00:09:28.13 It was God's idea. 00:09:28.16\00:09:29.50 Yeah. Amen. 00:09:29.53\00:09:30.87 Yeah, it wasn't... 00:09:30.90\00:09:32.23 And to that question, 00:09:32.27\00:09:33.60 can we eat anything all day long? 00:09:33.64\00:09:34.97 No. 00:09:35.00\00:09:36.34 People do eat junk food, french fries, potato chips. 00:09:36.37\00:09:40.01 What is that doing to our bodies? 00:09:40.04\00:09:41.71 Wow. 00:09:41.74\00:09:43.08 It's destroying us, isn't it? 00:09:43.11\00:09:44.45 That's right. 00:09:44.48\00:09:45.81 Which begs the question then, 00:09:45.85\00:09:47.18 as we look at the plan that God established, 00:09:47.22\00:09:49.85 Mr. McIntosh, then we have to ask the question then, 00:09:49.88\00:09:53.32 where did disease come from? 00:09:53.36\00:09:55.42 And, in fact, what is disease? 00:09:55.46\00:09:57.89 Disease is really just a violation 00:10:01.43\00:10:04.83 of the principles that are found in God's Word. 00:10:04.87\00:10:09.04 And one of the things that the testimony of Jesus says 00:10:09.07\00:10:13.14 is that the first thing you have to do 00:10:13.17\00:10:15.21 if you have disease is to correct 00:10:15.24\00:10:18.85 what's causing disease. 00:10:18.88\00:10:20.92 Now, of course, today 00:10:20.95\00:10:23.02 when we visit the doctor's office, 00:10:23.05\00:10:26.69 very often we are given pharmaceuticals 00:10:26.72\00:10:29.12 instead of being asked, 00:10:29.16\00:10:30.86 "What are you doing wrong?" 00:10:30.89\00:10:32.43 True. 00:10:32.46\00:10:33.80 But if we can ascertain what's going on, 00:10:33.83\00:10:37.00 you know, "I'm snacking, 00:10:37.03\00:10:39.43 I'm watching the late show at night, 00:10:39.47\00:10:42.37 I'm not getting enough sleep, 00:10:42.40\00:10:45.04 I'm not drinking any water, I'm drinking soda pop 00:10:45.07\00:10:47.81 and pushing myself toward a diabetic 00:10:47.84\00:10:49.84 or pre-diabetic condition." 00:10:49.88\00:10:51.98 All those things really mitigate against health. 00:10:52.01\00:10:55.85 And in the Book of Ecclesiastes Chapter 10, 00:10:55.88\00:11:01.82 we find this declaration. 00:11:01.86\00:11:04.59 It says, "Blessed are thou, O land, 00:11:04.63\00:11:07.06 when your kings and your princes 00:11:07.10\00:11:10.07 eat for strength and not for drunkenness." 00:11:10.10\00:11:15.34 So that principle is very important. 00:11:15.37\00:11:18.04 Because what it says is that they eat at the proper time. 00:11:18.07\00:11:22.84 There's a timing. 00:11:22.88\00:11:24.81 There's a circadian rhythm in the body. 00:11:24.85\00:11:27.22 And we need to have five hours between the meals 00:11:27.25\00:11:32.55 in order for the body to do what it does 00:11:32.59\00:11:36.09 and keep the circadian rhythms 00:11:36.12\00:11:37.96 that are so important to us in their proper sphere. 00:11:37.99\00:11:43.06 And so that principle is one that I believe 00:11:43.10\00:11:48.07 most people are unfamiliar with. 00:11:48.10\00:11:51.01 But the Bible does say 00:11:51.04\00:11:52.44 that we are to eat at the proper time. 00:11:52.47\00:11:54.88 There's a timing. 00:11:54.91\00:11:56.95 And if we follow that principle, 00:11:56.98\00:12:00.35 then we really can cooperate with those circadian rhythms 00:12:00.38\00:12:05.92 that are so critical to maintaining our health. 00:12:05.95\00:12:09.92 Now how many meals... I'm sorry, Mr. McIntosh. 00:12:09.96\00:12:13.40 How many meals... Go right ahead. 00:12:13.43\00:12:14.76 How many meals a day do you recommend that we eat? 00:12:14.80\00:12:19.63 Well, if a person can eat two meals a day, 00:12:19.67\00:12:22.57 that's better. 00:12:22.60\00:12:23.94 Yes. 00:12:23.97\00:12:25.31 In fact, the testimony of Jesus recommends 00:12:25.34\00:12:27.18 two meals a day. 00:12:27.21\00:12:28.54 Yes. 00:12:28.58\00:12:29.91 And we find that people who eat 00:12:29.94\00:12:32.55 two meals a day and do what's called... 00:12:32.58\00:12:36.18 Today, we have a technical term for it. 00:12:36.22\00:12:38.52 It's called time-restricted eating. 00:12:38.55\00:12:41.19 But we find that time restricted eating, 00:12:41.22\00:12:43.63 actually, contributes to longevity. 00:12:43.66\00:12:46.86 People who eat less meals per day 00:12:46.90\00:12:51.17 than the three squares, so to speak, 00:12:51.20\00:12:52.93 that Americans do eat, they live longer. 00:12:52.97\00:12:56.84 And lots of experiments have shown that, 00:12:56.87\00:12:59.61 animal experiments, 00:12:59.64\00:13:00.98 that if you don't overfeed the animals, 00:13:01.01\00:13:03.98 they live much longer. 00:13:04.01\00:13:05.55 And it's true for human beings too. 00:13:05.58\00:13:07.82 Most of the world eats two meals a day. 00:13:07.85\00:13:12.59 We have an abundance so we think we have to, 00:13:12.62\00:13:15.42 you know, eat three meals a day. 00:13:15.46\00:13:17.99 So wherever possible, I think it's a good idea 00:13:18.03\00:13:21.03 to go to two meals a day 00:13:21.06\00:13:22.40 and to eat those two meals within, 00:13:22.43\00:13:26.00 let's say, a six to eight-hour period. 00:13:26.03\00:13:31.57 Oh, wow. 00:13:31.61\00:13:32.94 Now the largest meal is... Should that be in the morning? 00:13:32.97\00:13:37.11 Yes, it should be in the morning 00:13:37.15\00:13:38.61 because that's when we are breaking the fast, 00:13:38.65\00:13:41.25 which is what breakfast really means. 00:13:41.28\00:13:43.49 Right? Okay. 00:13:43.52\00:13:44.85 We're breaking the fast. 00:13:44.89\00:13:46.22 Yeah. 00:13:46.25\00:13:47.59 And so that's where the largest meal should be. 00:13:47.62\00:13:51.43 Then, of course, there's physical activity. 00:13:51.46\00:13:54.83 And it turns out that... Guess where we find that? 00:13:54.86\00:13:57.47 We find that in Genesis, Genesis 3. 00:13:57.50\00:14:01.40 And it says, After the curse entered, 00:14:01.44\00:14:04.81 you know, the Lord said 00:14:04.84\00:14:07.51 the ground is cursed for your sake. 00:14:07.54\00:14:10.08 And he said, "By the sweat of your face, 00:14:10.11\00:14:13.21 you shall eat bread." 00:14:13.25\00:14:15.62 Well, you know that prescription 00:14:15.65\00:14:18.02 by the Lord given to our first parents, 00:14:18.05\00:14:21.79 most people ignore that prescription. 00:14:21.82\00:14:24.53 But it really... We... 00:14:24.56\00:14:26.83 In other words, we eat bread but we almost never perspire. 00:14:26.86\00:14:31.17 And that is a big problem. 00:14:31.20\00:14:34.80 It contributes to the pre-diabetic condition, 00:14:34.84\00:14:37.67 it contributes to diabetes in general 00:14:37.71\00:14:40.51 because physical activity has a lot to do 00:14:40.54\00:14:44.48 with how you process sugar in the body. 00:14:44.51\00:14:46.95 That's true. 00:14:46.98\00:14:48.32 If you are eating a high fat diet 00:14:48.35\00:14:51.32 and you're not physically active, 00:14:51.35\00:14:53.15 what happens is that high fat diet 00:14:53.19\00:14:55.22 tends to knock out your insulin receptors. 00:14:55.26\00:14:58.66 And the result is that 00:14:58.69\00:15:00.40 when sugar comes up to the cell, 00:15:00.43\00:15:02.83 the muscle cell, for instance, 00:15:02.86\00:15:04.33 and wants to gain entrance to the cell 00:15:04.37\00:15:06.87 through the insulin receptor, guess what? 00:15:06.90\00:15:10.17 It doesn't find very many insulin receptors 00:15:10.21\00:15:12.71 because they've been knocked out 00:15:12.74\00:15:15.54 due to physical inactivity. 00:15:15.58\00:15:18.08 We find that when people walk 30 minutes twice a day, 00:15:18.11\00:15:21.85 they can actually overcome diabetes. 00:15:21.88\00:15:24.19 And we have a program on the website, 00:15:24.22\00:15:26.69 idowell.org called reversing diabesity. 00:15:26.72\00:15:31.73 Oh, wow. 00:15:31.76\00:15:33.09 Why do we call it diabesity? 00:15:33.13\00:15:34.46 Okay. 00:15:34.50\00:15:35.83 Because... 00:15:35.86\00:15:37.20 I didn't coin that word, by the way. 00:15:37.23\00:15:38.57 A very smart guy down 00:15:38.60\00:15:39.93 at UCLA School of Health coined the word. 00:15:39.97\00:15:41.34 But the point is that diabetes 00:15:41.37\00:15:45.54 and obesity are related. 00:15:45.57\00:15:49.01 They support each other, 00:15:49.04\00:15:50.48 and one often proceeds the other. 00:15:50.51\00:15:52.58 The weight condition often precedes 00:15:52.61\00:15:54.92 the pre-diabetic and the diabetic condition. 00:15:54.95\00:15:57.89 And when you're not walking, 00:15:57.92\00:15:59.49 you have relatively few insulin receptors 00:15:59.52\00:16:03.66 and your blood sugar tends to rise over time. 00:16:03.69\00:16:06.53 When you start walking, what happens is that 00:16:06.56\00:16:09.93 the insulin receptors proliferate 00:16:09.96\00:16:12.90 and the result is that you now have a greater capacity 00:16:12.93\00:16:16.54 to move sugar into the muscle. 00:16:16.57\00:16:19.07 Okay. 00:16:19.11\00:16:20.44 And guess what? 00:16:20.48\00:16:21.81 The blood sugar comes down naturally 00:16:21.84\00:16:23.78 because you have generated... And this is critical. 00:16:23.81\00:16:27.05 You have generated more insulin receptors 00:16:27.08\00:16:30.42 in order to accommodate the sugar in the bloodstream. 00:16:30.45\00:16:33.92 So this is critical. 00:16:33.96\00:16:35.66 And I used to work at Weimar Institute, you know. 00:16:35.69\00:16:38.56 And I watched... 00:16:38.59\00:16:39.93 I would watch people 00:16:39.96\00:16:41.30 with type 2 diabetes come and in 18 days, 00:16:41.33\00:16:44.53 most of them were off their diabetic medications. 00:16:44.57\00:16:47.00 Wow. 00:16:47.04\00:16:48.37 And the secret... Are you ready for the secret? 00:16:48.40\00:16:50.04 Yes. Okay. 00:16:50.07\00:16:51.54 I'm ready for the secret. 00:16:51.57\00:16:52.91 Thirty minutes. 00:16:52.94\00:16:54.28 Thirty minutes twice a day. 00:16:54.31\00:16:55.64 Of the walking? 00:16:55.68\00:16:57.01 Walking. Brisk walking. 00:16:57.05\00:16:58.91 Okay, my wife is rebuking me here, Mr. McIntosh. 00:16:58.95\00:17:02.32 I am. 00:17:02.35\00:17:03.69 Because, I mean, I'm not overweight, 00:17:03.72\00:17:06.25 but she says to me, 00:17:06.29\00:17:07.92 "You're not getting enough activity." 00:17:07.96\00:17:09.29 He isn't. 00:17:09.32\00:17:10.66 And she has a watch that tracks all her activity. 00:17:10.69\00:17:12.09 Yeah, I do. 00:17:12.13\00:17:13.46 And I said to her, "How is it that you have 00:17:13.50\00:17:14.83 so many more points than I do?" 00:17:14.86\00:17:17.07 She says, "Because I walk a lot more than you do." 00:17:17.10\00:17:19.90 And so I'm kind of... Absolutely. 00:17:19.93\00:17:21.47 She walks twice a day. 00:17:21.50\00:17:23.44 And then when she's... 00:17:23.47\00:17:24.81 She says that my watch is telling me 00:17:24.84\00:17:26.17 that I didn't get enough exercise. 00:17:26.21\00:17:27.54 So she goes downstairs on her elliptical 00:17:27.58\00:17:29.44 and gets the rest of that in. 00:17:29.48\00:17:31.05 And she said, "I closed all my circles." 00:17:31.08\00:17:33.45 And I said, "Well, I got 4,700 steps today." 00:17:33.48\00:17:37.02 She said, "I did 11,000." 00:17:37.05\00:17:39.15 And I said, "Well, what's the difference?" 00:17:39.19\00:17:40.59 She said, "I'm in better shape than you are." 00:17:40.62\00:17:43.63 And so... 00:17:43.66\00:17:44.99 Well, 'cause I like to exercise. 00:17:45.03\00:17:46.36 And even in the cooler weather where it's very cold outside, 00:17:46.39\00:17:51.50 I kind of walk around here at 3ABN 00:17:51.53\00:17:54.34 'cause it's pretty big here. 00:17:54.37\00:17:56.14 So I do my little circles and my watch will tell me, 00:17:56.17\00:17:59.07 "It's good. 00:17:59.11\00:18:00.44 You've done, you've completed your 30 minutes, whatever." 00:18:00.48\00:18:03.61 And so I do get my exercise 00:18:03.65\00:18:05.85 even when the weather is cool. 00:18:05.88\00:18:07.52 Even though I do prefer to go outside and walk, 00:18:07.55\00:18:10.59 but when I can't because it's so cold, 00:18:10.62\00:18:13.46 I work it up even when I'm talking to someone, 00:18:13.49\00:18:16.29 I kind of walk in place. 00:18:16.32\00:18:18.33 Well, what I want to get 00:18:18.36\00:18:19.69 is what he just said a moment ago. 00:18:19.73\00:18:21.06 I don't want people to miss that 00:18:21.10\00:18:22.43 because it's so tremendously important. 00:18:22.46\00:18:24.40 You talked about when people eat 00:18:24.43\00:18:26.00 and they're not getting exercise. 00:18:26.03\00:18:27.80 When they're eating a fatty diet 00:18:27.84\00:18:29.24 or maybe just the diet in general 00:18:29.27\00:18:31.37 and they're not getting exercise, 00:18:31.41\00:18:33.58 they're blocking the receptors 00:18:33.61\00:18:36.88 and then the insulin is not going to... 00:18:36.91\00:18:40.15 Talk about that. 00:18:40.18\00:18:41.52 The blood sugar is not lowered so they... 00:18:41.55\00:18:42.88 To do its job, yes. Yeah. Tell me... 00:18:42.92\00:18:44.42 To move the sugar into the bloodstream. 00:18:44.45\00:18:46.05 Yes, precisely. 00:18:46.09\00:18:47.42 That's exactly it. Okay. 00:18:47.46\00:18:48.79 So it's kind of blocked by not exercising 00:18:48.82\00:18:50.56 if that's what I'm hearing. 00:18:50.59\00:18:52.66 We actually lose insulin receptors. 00:18:52.69\00:18:55.26 It knocks them out, the high fat diet 00:18:55.30\00:18:58.03 and the lack of physical activity. 00:18:58.07\00:19:00.30 It turns out that when we start walking, 00:19:00.34\00:19:02.54 we generate more insulin receptors. 00:19:02.57\00:19:05.77 And the result is that the capacity to move sugar 00:19:05.81\00:19:09.24 into the cell dramatically increases. 00:19:09.28\00:19:12.78 And this is why diabetics 00:19:12.81\00:19:14.28 can actually get off their medication 00:19:14.32\00:19:16.79 if they do that. 00:19:16.82\00:19:18.15 That is the secret, 30 minutes, twice a day. 00:19:18.19\00:19:21.16 Very important. 00:19:21.19\00:19:22.59 In the sweat of your brow, you shall eat bread. 00:19:22.62\00:19:25.36 Oh, okay. 00:19:25.39\00:19:26.73 And so that principle is really, really critical. 00:19:26.76\00:19:32.07 So, you know, the whole business of diabetes, 00:19:32.10\00:19:36.97 and hypertension, and high cholesterol, 00:19:37.01\00:19:39.47 and obesity can be solved 00:19:39.51\00:19:42.28 if people will do three simple things. 00:19:42.31\00:19:44.98 Okay. 00:19:45.01\00:19:46.35 If they will walk 30 minutes twice a day. 00:19:46.38\00:19:49.08 That's critical. 00:19:49.12\00:19:51.22 If they will use the Eden diet, and if they will drink water. 00:19:51.25\00:19:56.69 Now the first lifestyle intervention trial 00:19:56.73\00:19:59.66 in history was conducted by a young Hebrew named Daniel. 00:19:59.69\00:20:03.73 You know about that. 00:20:03.77\00:20:05.10 Okay. That's right. 00:20:05.13\00:20:06.47 That's right. 00:20:06.50\00:20:07.84 And he said... 00:20:07.87\00:20:09.20 What did he say in that lifestyle intervention trial? 00:20:09.24\00:20:10.57 He said give us vegetables to eat and what? 00:20:10.61\00:20:14.14 Pulses, water, exactly. 00:20:14.18\00:20:16.31 And water to drink. 00:20:16.34\00:20:17.85 Okay. Now we're getting that water right here. 00:20:17.88\00:20:20.32 This much I drank already, honey? 00:20:20.35\00:20:22.95 Right. 00:20:22.98\00:20:24.32 He didn't ask for a Pepsi. 00:20:24.35\00:20:26.09 And I always tell people 00:20:26.12\00:20:28.86 there was no Pepsi machine in Eden. 00:20:28.89\00:20:30.89 Remember that. 00:20:30.93\00:20:33.06 Good old water. 00:20:33.09\00:20:34.43 So you need to drink water, pure water. 00:20:34.46\00:20:36.43 And if people will do those three things 00:20:36.46\00:20:39.83 and especially pay attention to that walking. 00:20:39.87\00:20:42.54 Most of us are not getting enough physical activity. 00:20:42.57\00:20:46.27 And the result is that we... 00:20:46.31\00:20:48.54 This country, we have something like 00:20:48.58\00:20:51.05 60 to 80% of people with a prediabetic condition. 00:20:51.08\00:20:55.08 And that is a huge problem. 00:20:55.12\00:20:59.12 It's extremely costly to us. 00:20:59.15\00:21:02.42 Well, tell us about the sweets. 00:21:02.46\00:21:04.06 You alluded to that. 00:21:04.09\00:21:05.43 You talked about high fat diet. 00:21:05.46\00:21:07.33 Talk about sweets because... About snacking. 00:21:07.36\00:21:10.03 Yeah, snacking. Okay. 00:21:10.07\00:21:11.40 I like that. 00:21:11.43\00:21:12.77 Okay. What about snacking? 00:21:12.80\00:21:14.14 Is it okay to snack? 00:21:14.17\00:21:16.54 Well, we are... No, it isn't. 00:21:16.57\00:21:17.91 As we said, it tends to mess up the circadian rhythms. 00:21:17.94\00:21:22.81 And the result of all of that is that over time, 00:21:22.84\00:21:27.78 we become unbalanced. 00:21:27.82\00:21:29.72 We have... 00:21:29.75\00:21:31.09 You know, in the sweat of your brow, 00:21:31.12\00:21:33.36 that's energy output. 00:21:33.39\00:21:35.92 Eating bread is energy input. 00:21:35.96\00:21:38.69 And so what the Lord is saying... 00:21:38.73\00:21:40.36 And I read that for years and didn't understand 00:21:40.40\00:21:42.03 what it was saying. 00:21:42.06\00:21:43.40 It was saying you have to have balance. 00:21:43.43\00:21:45.83 That's what that scripture means, balance. 00:21:45.87\00:21:48.67 Energy input is to be balanced by energy output. 00:21:48.70\00:21:53.71 Now the scripture means 00:21:53.74\00:21:55.08 a lot more than just what I just said. 00:21:55.11\00:21:57.11 Remember, God's word is infinite, 00:21:57.15\00:21:58.81 but that's one of the things it's saying, 00:21:58.85\00:22:00.65 that you have to have balance in what you do. 00:22:00.68\00:22:04.02 And if you don't have balance, 00:22:04.05\00:22:06.12 then that creates all kinds of metabolic problems. 00:22:06.15\00:22:09.42 And we have a name for these metabolic problems. 00:22:09.46\00:22:12.89 It's called metabolic syndrome, diabetes, 00:22:12.93\00:22:17.47 hypertension, hypercholesterolemia 00:22:17.50\00:22:21.07 or high cholesterol, and obesity. 00:22:21.10\00:22:22.77 Those things cluster in many Americans. 00:22:22.80\00:22:26.74 Metabolic syndrome is a huge problem 00:22:26.78\00:22:29.84 and it is the most costly problem 00:22:29.88\00:22:33.25 in America today in terms of medical care costs. 00:22:33.28\00:22:36.92 Okay. 00:22:36.95\00:22:38.29 So it's critical that we pay attention 00:22:38.32\00:22:42.59 to those principles. 00:22:42.62\00:22:44.13 And you also said two glasses of water 00:22:44.16\00:22:47.16 before each meal. 00:22:47.20\00:22:49.30 Do you recommend, as we heard, 00:22:49.33\00:22:51.87 was it eight to ten glasses of water a day? 00:22:51.90\00:22:56.87 I just keep it simple. 00:22:56.91\00:22:58.34 I say two glasses before breakfast, 00:22:58.37\00:23:01.64 two before lunch, and two before supper 00:23:01.68\00:23:04.18 if you're on a three meal program. 00:23:04.21\00:23:07.25 For instance, in the morning before I do Bible study 00:23:07.28\00:23:10.62 and prayer, I drink a glass of water. 00:23:10.65\00:23:13.82 And then at the end of my prayer, 00:23:13.86\00:23:16.59 I have another glass ready and I drink it. 00:23:16.62\00:23:18.99 And by the time I'm done with Bible study, 00:23:19.03\00:23:22.16 that glass is... 00:23:22.20\00:23:24.33 The water is gone and I've got my two glasses. 00:23:24.37\00:23:28.10 That does a great deal for the body. 00:23:28.14\00:23:30.21 It cleanses the kidneys, for instance, 00:23:30.24\00:23:32.81 from all that urea from protein metabolism 00:23:32.84\00:23:37.15 and boosts your energy. 00:23:37.18\00:23:40.25 One of the things that you need to do 00:23:40.28\00:23:41.98 if you're really feeling tired is drink a glass of water. 00:23:42.02\00:23:46.65 You know, it says in Isaiah 44, 00:23:46.69\00:23:49.19 "He drinks no water and grows faint." 00:23:49.22\00:23:52.43 Oh, wow. 00:23:52.46\00:23:53.80 Okay. You know... 00:23:53.83\00:23:55.16 So you're bringing out the Bible in a new way. 00:23:55.20\00:23:56.73 We have about less than two minutes here, but... 00:23:56.77\00:23:58.90 So what would you encourage people 00:23:58.93\00:24:00.27 that are wanting to experience the optimum health? 00:24:00.30\00:24:05.21 And we're going to give information 00:24:05.24\00:24:06.57 to let people have more 00:24:06.61\00:24:07.94 of what you're going to talk about, 00:24:07.98\00:24:09.31 but what would you say to those 00:24:09.34\00:24:10.68 who want to increase better health 00:24:10.71\00:24:12.58 and have a more balanced life? 00:24:12.61\00:24:16.08 I would simply say that the three principles 00:24:16.12\00:24:19.19 that we covered in the Book of Genesis 00:24:19.22\00:24:23.22 is really where we need to start 00:24:23.26\00:24:26.73 to make sure that we have balance. 00:24:26.76\00:24:30.90 Eating and physical activity is balanced. 00:24:30.93\00:24:34.80 Thirty minutes twice a day is the ideal. 00:24:34.84\00:24:39.14 It takes away the basis for insulin resistance 00:24:39.17\00:24:44.45 and diabetes and all of that, 00:24:44.48\00:24:47.05 and it helps us to be healthier. 00:24:47.08\00:24:49.28 It also does something. 00:24:49.32\00:24:51.22 It produces something in the brain called BDNF, 00:24:51.25\00:24:55.02 brain-derived neurotrophic factor 00:24:55.06\00:24:58.03 that regenerates your brain. 00:24:58.06\00:24:59.79 Physical activity does that. 00:24:59.83\00:25:01.70 In fact, I want my listeners to research that, BDNF. 00:25:01.73\00:25:06.57 BDNF. 00:25:06.60\00:25:07.94 Brain-derived... 00:25:07.97\00:25:09.30 BDNF, brain-derived neurotrophic factor. 00:25:09.34\00:25:12.41 It actually regenerates your brain 00:25:12.44\00:25:16.01 and gets those neurons working 00:25:16.04\00:25:18.55 better than they were before. 00:25:18.58\00:25:20.05 That's what... 00:25:20.08\00:25:21.42 I have a lecture called, 00:25:21.45\00:25:22.78 40 reasons to exercise. 00:25:22.82\00:25:24.92 Okay. 00:25:24.95\00:25:26.76 And that's on my website. 00:25:26.79\00:25:28.12 That's on the reversing diabesity program 00:25:28.16\00:25:30.53 and people can sign up for that. 00:25:30.56\00:25:33.40 Well, we thank you for joining us today. 00:25:33.43\00:25:35.23 Jack McIntosh, health educator, lifestyle interventionist. 00:25:35.26\00:25:39.07 I want our viewers and listeners to know that 00:25:39.10\00:25:41.57 at the end of this hour, we're going to... 00:25:41.60\00:25:43.30 Or at the end of this program, 00:25:43.34\00:25:44.67 we're going to give you the website and the information 00:25:44.71\00:25:46.51 on how to get in touch with him. 00:25:46.54\00:25:47.94 But idowell.org is a good place to start. 00:25:47.98\00:25:51.58 Don't go away. 00:25:51.61\00:25:52.95 We have another exciting part of this program. 00:25:52.98\00:25:55.12 Just stay tuned. 00:25:55.15\00:25:56.48 That's right. 00:25:56.52\00:25:57.99 If you would like to contact 00:25:58.02\00:25:59.42 or know more about Wellness Pays, 00:25:59.45\00:26:01.69 you can do so in a variety of ways. 00:26:01.72\00:26:03.93 You can call them 00:26:03.96\00:26:05.29 at (360) 314-8714. 00:26:05.33\00:26:10.37 That's (360) 314-8714. 00:26:10.40\00:26:15.37 Or you can visit their website, idowell.org 00:26:15.40\00:26:19.41 That's idowell.org 00:26:19.44\00:26:23.31 Or send them an email 00:26:23.35\00:26:24.68 at mcjack48@comcast.net 00:26:24.71\00:26:29.45 That's mcjack48@comcast.net 00:26:29.48\00:26:35.46 Amen. 00:26:42.30\00:26:43.63 Thank you so much, Pastor Lomacang, 00:26:43.67\00:26:45.13 Miss Angie Lomacang, 00:26:45.17\00:26:46.50 and Brother Jack McIntosh for your ministry. 00:26:46.53\00:26:49.30 We're going to continue now 00:26:49.34\00:26:50.67 with another good friends of mine. 00:26:50.71\00:26:53.24 This is actually the second time 00:26:53.27\00:26:54.61 I've had an opportunity to interview 00:26:54.64\00:26:56.51 and to speak with Brother Jerry 00:26:56.54\00:26:58.65 and Miss Valerie Backus all the way from Tanzania. 00:26:58.68\00:27:01.45 How are you guys doing? 00:27:01.48\00:27:02.82 Can you hear me? 00:27:02.85\00:27:05.35 Doing wonderful. 00:27:05.39\00:27:06.72 Blessed and humbled to be with you again, Ryan. 00:27:06.76\00:27:09.79 Thank you for the invitation. 00:27:09.82\00:27:11.16 We're happy to be here. 00:27:11.19\00:27:12.53 Amen. 00:27:12.56\00:27:13.90 It's a blessing to see you guys again. 00:27:13.93\00:27:15.26 Thank you very much. All the time. 00:28:27.47\00:28:30.81 That's amazing. 00:28:30.84\00:28:32.17 So how many... So there's always children. 00:28:32.21\00:28:34.11 No, that's fine. So how many... 00:28:34.14\00:28:35.64 There's always children playing... 00:28:35.68\00:28:37.61 Right, right. 00:28:37.65\00:28:40.12 So how many children total do you have there at, 00:28:40.15\00:28:43.39 you know, at the headquarters there? 00:28:43.42\00:28:47.76 We totally have... We have total of 86 children. 00:28:47.79\00:28:51.43 Of course, the older children are at boarding school. 00:28:51.46\00:28:54.10 So during school time, 00:28:54.13\00:28:56.50 we may have up to 20 to 30 children 00:28:56.53\00:28:59.50 at boarding school. 00:28:59.53\00:29:00.87 We see them after every three months, 00:29:00.90\00:29:03.71 some three months. 00:29:03.74\00:29:05.34 But the other children, the younger tots, 00:29:05.37\00:29:07.81 they go to the local school here at the village. 00:29:07.84\00:29:10.58 But the other older children are in boarding school 00:29:10.61\00:29:13.05 where they go like a typical boarding school in America, 00:29:13.08\00:29:16.12 three to six months at a time. 00:29:16.15\00:29:18.92 That's amazing. 00:29:18.95\00:29:20.29 That's amazing. 00:29:20.32\00:29:21.66 That's a lot of children all at one time. 00:29:21.69\00:29:23.19 And you guys, you said your homes are very close. 00:29:23.22\00:29:25.16 I think we actually have a picture of like 00:29:25.19\00:29:27.80 an aerial view of what these homes look like. 00:29:27.83\00:29:30.63 Wow. 00:29:30.67\00:29:32.53 So tell us a little bit, 00:29:32.57\00:29:34.10 how in the world did you start this? 00:29:34.14\00:29:35.84 How do you get from nothing to this right here? 00:29:35.87\00:29:38.27 Tell us a little bit of the backstory on this. 00:29:38.31\00:29:42.41 Well, number one, it was the Lord. 00:29:42.44\00:29:44.01 I moved here in 2009 00:29:44.05\00:29:46.25 and I was planning on opening a Bible school. 00:29:46.28\00:29:48.92 And I saw all the children roaming the streets. 00:29:48.95\00:29:51.05 And the Lord told me to forget about the Bible school, 00:29:51.09\00:29:53.79 to take care of the children. 00:29:53.82\00:29:55.26 So we opened a children's home in Arusha, 00:29:55.29\00:29:57.99 and we ended up having about 35 children very quickly. 00:29:58.03\00:30:01.56 But then we outgrew the property. 00:30:01.60\00:30:04.63 There weren't any place for them 00:30:04.67\00:30:06.00 to play or anything else. 00:30:06.03\00:30:07.60 And then I believe the Lord told me 00:30:07.64\00:30:09.20 that he was going to give us land for free. 00:30:09.24\00:30:11.51 So I started looking for land 00:30:11.54\00:30:13.41 and I wanted to be where the greatest need was. 00:30:13.44\00:30:16.14 And Karatu area is where the greatest need is 00:30:16.18\00:30:18.91 because it has the highest percentage 00:30:18.95\00:30:20.65 of abandoned children. 00:30:20.68\00:30:22.02 So we received 70 acres of land here outside of Karatu, 00:30:22.05\00:30:25.89 about 45 minutes outside of Karatu 00:30:25.92\00:30:28.42 and started building the homes 00:30:28.46\00:30:29.99 in 2013. 00:30:30.03\00:30:32.76 Wow. That's amazing. 00:30:32.79\00:30:34.26 And so you guys... 00:30:34.30\00:30:35.63 I mean, this isn't just a home where people just live, 00:30:35.66\00:30:38.97 but yet you guys... 00:30:39.00\00:30:40.34 I mean, you educate these kids, 00:30:40.37\00:30:42.37 you're teaching them about Christ. 00:30:42.40\00:30:44.11 Tell us a little bit about the education 00:30:44.14\00:30:45.84 and the experience that these children 00:30:45.87\00:30:48.41 get while they're there. 00:30:48.44\00:30:52.35 Well, it's really family style. 00:30:52.38\00:30:56.05 Even though we have 86 children and from time to time 00:30:56.08\00:30:58.89 they're all 86 here on under one campus, 00:30:58.92\00:31:03.76 we really teach fundamental beliefs of God, 00:31:03.79\00:31:08.16 God and His love. 00:31:08.20\00:31:10.03 We have standards of living that are Christian-centered. 00:31:10.07\00:31:13.23 We really follow the principles given. 00:31:13.27\00:31:16.24 We follow, we lead, and educate the children 00:31:16.27\00:31:18.91 from the children's home and from Ellen White. 00:31:18.94\00:31:22.71 And we stick close to those simple standards 00:31:22.74\00:31:26.35 that are easy to understand 00:31:26.38\00:31:28.05 because the basic language is Swahili 00:31:28.08\00:31:31.35 and I'm still struggling with that. 00:31:31.39\00:31:33.15 But I'm learning more and more each day 00:31:33.19\00:31:34.69 how to communicate with them. 00:31:34.72\00:31:36.39 But they love to sing. 00:31:36.42\00:31:37.76 They love to pray. 00:31:37.79\00:31:39.73 And mind you, this village, our new babes 00:31:39.76\00:31:43.43 then our Seventh-day Adventist mission field. 00:31:43.47\00:31:46.63 And so they are babies but they catch on quickly. 00:31:46.67\00:31:49.74 They love worship. 00:31:49.77\00:31:51.11 They love to pray. 00:31:51.14\00:31:52.47 The children that are younger than the forming form school, 00:31:52.51\00:31:57.15 which are like high school equivalent 00:31:57.18\00:31:59.38 to the American standard. 00:31:59.41\00:32:00.95 They go to the local school here in a village called Qurus. 00:32:00.98\00:32:04.79 So even though we're in Karatu, 00:32:04.82\00:32:06.55 the village is located 00:32:06.59\00:32:07.92 in another village called Qurus. 00:32:07.96\00:32:09.92 And so they go to elementary school locally. 00:32:09.96\00:32:13.40 The children do walk three miles each day. 00:32:13.43\00:32:16.70 And so they start from grade 1 00:32:16.73\00:32:19.43 or standard 1 all the way to, say, 00:32:19.47\00:32:22.64 standard 7 or grade 7 00:32:22.67\00:32:24.41 and their high school starts from grade 8. 00:32:24.44\00:32:27.21 So we do... 00:32:27.24\00:32:28.58 We're very busy 00:32:28.61\00:32:29.94 because we have five different schools 00:32:29.98\00:32:31.65 to take the children to every day. 00:32:31.68\00:32:34.92 But every evening there's a schedule 00:32:34.95\00:32:37.12 that we have on campus, that at 7 o'clock 00:32:37.15\00:32:39.69 after they come home from school 00:32:39.72\00:32:41.29 and they've had their dinner and they've washed up 00:32:41.32\00:32:43.89 for the evening, we have Bible studies. 00:32:43.93\00:32:46.39 We recently have had requests from even the security officers 00:32:46.43\00:32:49.83 who wanted to find out about the 27... 00:32:49.86\00:32:52.53 28 Fundamental Beliefs of the Seventh-day Adventist. 00:32:52.57\00:32:55.20 And so every weekend, we have Bible studies as well. 00:32:55.24\00:32:58.64 The children at boarding school, 00:32:58.67\00:33:01.88 they continue their regular boarding studies 00:33:01.91\00:33:05.38 and they come home and they share 00:33:05.41\00:33:07.25 what they've learned there. 00:33:07.28\00:33:08.82 And many of them are so happy to be back home 00:33:08.85\00:33:10.85 because we form little choirs. 00:33:10.89\00:33:12.99 And our goal is to really go out and share 00:33:13.02\00:33:14.99 what we do here on the village side. 00:33:15.02\00:33:17.56 So it's exciting. 00:33:17.59\00:33:19.33 That's amazing. That's amazing. 00:33:19.36\00:33:20.70 So they're not just being educated in, 00:33:20.73\00:33:23.87 you know, the general education aspects of life, 00:33:23.90\00:33:27.07 but yet they're receiving the gospel of Jesus Christ 00:33:27.10\00:33:29.54 while they're there. 00:33:29.57\00:33:30.91 And I actually, I... 00:33:30.94\00:33:32.27 You know, you guys have a video, 00:33:32.31\00:33:33.64 a church video of a church service, I guess, 00:33:33.68\00:33:35.14 where you guys have church out there 00:33:35.18\00:33:36.98 at Tanzania, right? 00:33:37.01\00:33:40.12 We do. Wow. 00:36:27.48\00:36:28.82 That's powerful. That's powerful. 00:36:28.85\00:36:30.35 So just questions coming to my mind is, 00:36:30.39\00:36:32.99 does the government... 00:36:33.02\00:36:34.42 You know, you're in Tanzania. 00:36:34.46\00:36:35.79 Does the government of Tanzania help you guys 00:36:35.82\00:36:37.33 at all with these children? 00:36:37.36\00:36:38.93 Or how does that work? 00:36:38.96\00:36:42.20 No, not at all. 00:36:42.23\00:36:43.57 But the government has acknowledged us 00:36:43.60\00:36:45.70 as the number one representation 00:36:45.73\00:36:48.54 of an orphanage in the country of Tanzania. 00:36:48.57\00:36:51.17 They've even broadcasted on TV here in Tanzania. 00:36:51.21\00:36:54.31 We're rated as the number one orphanage in the country. 00:36:54.34\00:36:57.68 And one of the reasons why they say that is 00:36:57.71\00:36:59.48 because they see that we're just family. 00:36:59.51\00:37:02.52 All of the children have their own mamas 00:37:02.55\00:37:04.42 to take care of 'em, 00:37:04.45\00:37:05.79 and it's just a family environment. 00:37:05.82\00:37:08.52 Wow. 00:37:08.56\00:37:09.89 That's amazing. That's amazing. 00:37:09.92\00:37:11.33 So, you know, do you guys doing... 00:37:11.36\00:37:13.96 You know, does... 00:37:14.00\00:37:15.33 Are the children able to be adopted 00:37:15.36\00:37:16.73 or is there some type of adoption program? 00:37:16.77\00:37:19.80 How does that work as well 00:37:19.83\00:37:21.17 'cause I've got all these questions 00:37:21.20\00:37:22.54 flowing around in my mind. 00:37:22.57\00:37:23.91 This is amazing. 00:37:23.94\00:37:25.27 You guys, what you're doing is powerful, 00:37:25.31\00:37:26.64 powerful ministry ministering to these kids. 00:37:26.68\00:37:28.31 So what about adoption? 00:37:28.34\00:37:29.68 Is that an option? 00:37:29.71\00:37:32.68 Well, we've had 11 children adopted 00:37:32.71\00:37:34.85 ever since we started taking care 00:37:34.88\00:37:36.38 of the children in 2010, 00:37:36.42\00:37:37.85 when we opened our first children's home. 00:37:37.89\00:37:40.06 But the adoption laws have just recently changed 00:37:40.09\00:37:42.96 where they say you have to live in the country for three years. 00:37:42.99\00:37:46.03 But evidently, they're not stringent about that. 00:37:46.06\00:37:49.20 You can come and first foster a child 00:37:49.23\00:37:52.30 and then go back to the States and then keep on coming back. 00:37:52.33\00:37:55.44 It's going to take several three or four trips 00:37:55.47\00:37:57.81 back and forth for the process. 00:37:57.84\00:37:59.81 And it may take as long as three years 00:37:59.84\00:38:02.04 in order for that process to transpire. 00:38:02.08\00:38:04.65 So since the law has just recently changed, 00:38:04.68\00:38:07.42 we haven't had anybody 00:38:07.45\00:38:08.78 that started the adoption process again. 00:38:08.82\00:38:10.79 But we're willing to work with anybody 00:38:10.82\00:38:12.62 who's willing to come to visit us 00:38:12.65\00:38:14.46 and make a choice of one of our children. 00:38:14.49\00:38:17.09 We have plenty children for them to choose from. 00:38:17.13\00:38:19.09 Amen. Amen. 00:38:19.13\00:38:20.50 Praise the Lord. 00:38:20.53\00:38:21.86 And I understand you guys don't just work 00:38:21.90\00:38:25.50 with just children all the time. 00:38:25.53\00:38:27.97 You know, God's not just using Falco's Children Africa 00:38:28.00\00:38:30.97 to just minister to just children, 00:38:31.01\00:38:32.57 but you were talking to me kind of off the set 00:38:32.61\00:38:35.84 about these 13 women. 00:38:35.88\00:38:37.25 You have a picture of them. 00:38:37.28\00:38:38.95 Tell us a little bit about these 13 women 00:38:38.98\00:38:41.58 that you were briefly telling me 00:38:41.62\00:38:43.32 about behind the scenes. 00:38:43.35\00:38:47.36 Well, about two years ago, 00:38:47.39\00:38:49.39 or just about two and a half years ago, 00:38:49.42\00:38:52.06 Jerry had a special interest 00:38:52.09\00:38:55.53 in trying to locate women 00:38:55.56\00:38:58.80 that were prostitutes that work in local areas. 00:38:58.83\00:39:02.67 You see, the reason why we have so many abandoned children 00:39:02.70\00:39:06.64 is because of prostitution. 00:39:06.68\00:39:08.51 Unfortunately, when these work, 00:39:08.54\00:39:11.71 because they are not able to care for themselves 00:39:11.75\00:39:15.38 and babies that as a result of the prostitution. 00:39:15.42\00:39:18.75 Many of these children are discarded. 00:39:18.79\00:39:21.26 And so we get to... 00:39:21.29\00:39:23.32 We get these children 00:39:23.36\00:39:24.69 that are a referral from, unfortunately, these practices. 00:39:24.73\00:39:27.86 So when Jerry went out to try to locate these women 00:39:27.90\00:39:31.33 and minister to them, 26 of them. 00:39:31.37\00:39:34.67 He was able to locate at least 26 of them, 00:39:34.70\00:39:37.74 invited them to come to the orphanage. 00:39:37.77\00:39:40.04 At first, they did not know 00:39:40.08\00:39:41.61 that they were coming to an orphanage per Se. 00:39:41.64\00:39:44.18 They thought it was just a regular school 00:39:44.21\00:39:45.88 with beautiful little children running up and down, 00:39:45.91\00:39:48.72 all loving each other, everyone loving on them. 00:39:48.75\00:39:51.42 And one of the ladies just happened to ask, 00:39:51.45\00:39:54.56 "Well, what kind of a school do you have here? 00:39:54.59\00:39:56.56 It's very nice school." 00:39:56.59\00:39:57.93 And when Jerry told them it was really an orphanage 00:39:57.96\00:40:00.56 and the reason why we have so many children 00:40:00.60\00:40:03.06 at the orphanage 00:40:03.10\00:40:04.43 was as a result of prostitution, 00:40:04.47\00:40:06.40 they were floored. 00:40:06.43\00:40:07.77 They were humbled. There were many tears. 00:40:07.80\00:40:09.54 But they began to realize the impact 00:40:09.57\00:40:12.01 of what they were doing 00:40:12.04\00:40:13.38 and how it affected the children here. 00:40:13.41\00:40:16.44 But, you know, the grace of God 00:40:16.48\00:40:18.68 had lovely smiles for these children. 00:40:18.71\00:40:20.68 They were full of love. 00:40:20.72\00:40:22.05 They wrapped their arms around these women and welcomed them, 00:40:22.08\00:40:24.82 sang for them, and played with them 00:40:24.85\00:40:27.19 so much so that their hearts were touched. 00:40:27.22\00:40:29.42 They were open and they were even more open 00:40:29.46\00:40:31.63 to receive the Word of God, 00:40:31.66\00:40:33.40 that after few months of just Bible studies, 00:40:33.43\00:40:36.16 that they came out no matter what weather. 00:40:36.20\00:40:38.93 The weather was like... 00:40:38.97\00:40:40.30 Whether it was raining, whether it was muddy, 00:40:40.34\00:40:42.84 they still took whatever transportation 00:40:42.87\00:40:45.01 they could come, 00:40:45.04\00:40:46.37 with their Bibles that Jerry had given them, 00:40:46.41\00:40:48.71 and they studied the Word of God until... 00:40:48.74\00:40:50.98 That picture demonstrates 13 of those ladies 00:40:51.01\00:40:54.15 lined up for baptism. 00:40:54.18\00:40:55.85 And the last lady in that line is the mother 00:40:55.88\00:40:59.05 or how do you say? 00:40:59.09\00:41:02.26 The leader of the ladies. 00:41:02.29\00:41:04.43 She is the one that went back to tell all the other ladies 00:41:04.46\00:41:08.16 about the Word of God. 00:41:08.20\00:41:09.56 And so she is the woman at the well here at Tanzania. 00:41:09.60\00:41:13.07 She's the first evangelist from Falco's state event 00:41:13.10\00:41:17.41 and they have been baptized. 00:41:17.44\00:41:19.17 That's amazing. That's amazing. 00:41:19.21\00:41:20.88 So we got... That's powerful. Wow. 00:41:20.91\00:41:24.41 That's amazing. So it's you... 00:41:24.45\00:41:26.11 Lord is using this ministry 00:41:26.15\00:41:27.48 to reach all kinds of people, children and adults. 00:41:27.52\00:41:30.62 And so praise the Lord for that. 00:41:30.65\00:41:32.05 We have about... 00:41:32.09\00:41:33.42 We have about a minute here 00:41:33.46\00:41:35.16 before we go to a seven minute video of interviews 00:41:35.19\00:41:38.33 that you guys have conducted or that Valerie conducted. 00:41:38.36\00:41:40.86 And I just want to ask just in this minute, 00:41:40.90\00:41:42.73 if you could just tell us, what are the greatest needs 00:41:42.76\00:41:45.17 of this orphanage right now? 00:41:45.20\00:41:46.63 What is it that you need the most? 00:41:46.67\00:41:51.27 Regular monthly supporters. 00:41:51.31\00:41:53.01 Because our average expenses 00:41:53.04\00:41:55.81 each month is about $12,000 to $13,000, 00:41:55.84\00:41:58.75 depending whether we have maintenance issues or not. 00:41:58.78\00:42:01.35 And we don't have that many that support us 00:42:01.38\00:42:03.72 on a regular monthly basis. 00:42:03.75\00:42:05.59 It costs us about $66 00:42:05.62\00:42:08.72 for our boarding students to go to school each quarter, 00:42:08.76\00:42:12.29 and $47 for each one of the local students 00:42:12.33\00:42:15.23 to go to school. 00:42:15.26\00:42:16.60 So just anybody that's willing to help us 00:42:16.63\00:42:18.40 on a regular monthly basis, 00:42:18.43\00:42:20.07 so we can increase our base 00:42:20.10\00:42:22.00 so we know what we have for the next month. 00:42:22.04\00:42:24.31 Right. 00:42:24.34\00:42:25.91 Wow.
