Absolutely. 00:07:15.16\00:07:17.10 So Benny suffered a stroke last summer 00:07:17.13\00:07:19.63 and because the Chief Operating Officer had 00:07:19.67\00:07:25.11 become ill and had to resign, he was really running Pathway. 00:07:25.14\00:07:28.71 He was our Chief Operating Officer. 00:07:28.74\00:07:31.85 And no one knew what was going to be involved his recovery. 00:07:31.88\00:07:35.28 And I remember thinking, 00:07:35.32\00:07:36.89 "What are we going to do about Pathway? 00:07:36.92\00:07:38.29 Who's going to run Pathway?" 00:07:38.32\00:07:39.69 And I was so concerned. 00:07:39.72\00:07:41.06 I actually fell asleep praying, 00:07:41.09\00:07:42.42 "Lord, what are we going to do?" 00:07:42.46\00:07:44.13 The next morning, 00:07:44.16\00:07:45.49 I received a phone call from Ivan. 00:07:45.53\00:07:47.10 And he said, "Kathryn, this is little awkward, 00:07:47.13\00:07:49.53 but I just really feel impressed 00:07:49.56\00:07:53.23 that I'm supposed to take a break 00:07:53.27\00:07:54.60 from my corporate career 00:07:54.64\00:07:55.97 and help Benny organize and run Pathway." 00:07:56.00\00:07:59.07 He had no idea about Benny's stroke. 00:07:59.11\00:08:01.58 So we know that he's here by divine appointment. 00:08:01.61\00:08:04.25 Praise God. Amen. 00:08:04.28\00:08:05.61 Our God does exceedingly, 00:08:05.65\00:08:07.58 abundantly above anything that we can ask or think. 00:08:07.62\00:08:11.32 Amen. 00:08:11.35\00:08:12.69 Amen What amazing God we serve. 00:08:12.72\00:08:14.06 You know, just when the need is there, 00:08:14.09\00:08:15.42 just when God drops it into your heart, 00:08:15.46\00:08:18.36 the need is there and it's a perfect fit. 00:08:18.39\00:08:20.03 So praise the Lord. That's exciting. 00:08:20.06\00:08:21.83 So, Ivan, we're going to start with you as far 00:08:21.86\00:08:23.87 as talking about Pathway to Health. 00:08:23.90\00:08:25.63 Someone might be watching and saying, 00:08:25.67\00:08:27.17 "Well, I understand 00:08:27.20\00:08:28.54 they provide free medical care." 00:08:28.57\00:08:29.90 But what exactly is Pathway to Health? 00:08:29.94\00:08:32.17 And can you describe what it looks like an event? 00:08:32.21\00:08:35.64 I'll do my best. 00:08:35.68\00:08:37.01 So Pathway to Health 00:08:37.05\00:08:38.38 is humanitarian nonprofits service 00:08:38.41\00:08:40.98 of the Seventh-day Adventist Church. 00:08:41.02\00:08:42.72 We offer free health care 00:08:42.75\00:08:45.52 in the cities throughout the United States. 00:08:45.55\00:08:48.39 But we offer more than just medical care, 00:08:48.42\00:08:50.49 we focus on whole person health, 00:08:50.53\00:08:53.13 including physical, spiritual, and mental health. 00:08:53.16\00:08:57.63 However, over the years, 00:08:59.70\00:09:01.04 we really became a movement for sharing our love 00:09:01.07\00:09:04.71 and the blessings we received from God with those around us. 00:09:04.74\00:09:07.94 And that is our really primary mission. 00:09:07.98\00:09:10.55 We serve our neighbors, 00:09:10.58\00:09:12.85 those under served around the cities, 00:09:12.88\00:09:16.18 whether you are under insured, uninsured, 00:09:16.22\00:09:19.59 or even insured, 00:09:19.62\00:09:20.96 you can come and be our patient. 00:09:20.99\00:09:25.86 We serve citizens and non-citizen, 00:09:25.89\00:09:28.93 no questions asked, and it's always free. 00:09:28.96\00:09:32.13 And rather than trying to explain 00:09:32.17\00:09:33.70 how the Pathway event looks like, 00:09:33.74\00:09:35.60 I think it's better to take a video. 00:09:35.64\00:09:37.11 We'll take a look at a video and show you 00:09:37.14\00:09:38.91 what the events have looked like in the past. 00:09:38.94\00:09:40.44 Oh, wonderful. 00:09:40.48\00:09:41.81 Let's take a look at that video right now. 00:09:41.84\00:09:43.21 In every community there is need. 00:09:49.25\00:09:54.32 For some, the need is not easy to spot, 00:09:54.36\00:09:58.19 but is very real. 00:09:58.23\00:10:00.83 For others, the need is obvious. 00:10:00.86\00:10:03.77 And in many cases, desperate. have to say, 00:10:55.22\00:10:56.55 my first thought at the event was, 00:10:56.58\00:10:59.15 "That sounds too good to be true." 00:10:59.19\00:11:01.02 My expectations have been 00:11:01.06\00:11:03.49 exceeded by more than I can describe. 00:11:03.53\00:11:07.00 Through my tour yesterday, 00:11:07.03\00:11:08.66 it's magnificent when I see the looks 00:11:08.70\00:11:11.00 on those you observed, 00:11:11.03\00:11:12.83 when I see the looks on the face 00:11:12.87\00:11:15.24 of those volunteers, 00:11:15.27\00:11:17.54 that's a very lack of a better word, 00:11:17.57\00:11:19.27 very magical experience. 00:11:19.31\00:11:22.28 Together with partnering businesses, 00:11:22.31\00:11:24.05 nonprofit organizations, 00:11:24.08\00:11:25.81 and thousands of overwhelming to see the services going out, 00:11:43.20\00:11:46.10 it couldn't be done without 2000 volunteers. 00:11:46.13\00:11:49.07 I'm really impressed with the services you're offering, 00:11:49.10\00:11:52.01 portable X-rays, dental, 00:11:52.04\00:11:53.88 a little bit of everything, even haircuts. 00:11:53.91\00:11:55.61 Thank you for talking about 00:11:55.64\00:11:56.98 people's 00:12:28.88\00:12:32.28 to be provided right here in downtown Phoenix 00:12:32.31\00:12:35.08 at your convention center. 00:12:35.12\00:12:37.59 And up to 10,000 people 00:12:37.62\00:12:41.62 are that gets to have Pathways to Health here in my city. 00:12:52.07\00:12:57.97 And I just wanted to very briefly 00:12:58.01\00:12:59.94 express my sincere gratitude 00:12:59.97\00:13:02.64 and appreciation to all the volunteers 00:13:02.68\00:13:06.15 in the Seventh-day Adventist Church 00:13:06.18\00:13:07.88 and everyone who is responsible 00:13:07.92\00:13:09.98 for putting together this amazing event. 00:13:10.02\00:13:12.65 On behalf of the City Council 00:13:12.69\00:13:14.56 and the citizens of San Antonio, 00:13:14.59\00:13:17.03 we express a huge, huge thank you, 00:13:17.06\00:13:19.76 Muchas gracias, as we say here in San Antonio. 00:13:19.79\00:13:23.87 Launched in 2014, 00:13:23.90\00:13:25.83 Pathway to Health has to date organized mega clinics 00:13:25.87\00:13:29.37 in cities such as San Francisco, 00:13:29.40\00:13:31.87 San Antonio, Los Angeles, 00:13:31.91\00:13:35.34 Phoenix, and Fort Worth. 00:13:35.38\00:13:38.05 In all, more than 14,500 volunteers have given away 00:13:38.08\00:13:42.92 $164 million in free health care 00:13:42.95\00:13:46.76 to more than 36,000 residents. 00:13:46.79\00:13:50.43 The impact has been significant. 00:13:50.46\00:13:53.96 But I'm leaving her today so fulfilled 00:13:54.00\00:13:56.36 and so grateful for all the angels 00:13:56.40\00:13:58.23 that God has placed in my life. 00:13:58.27\00:13:59.73 And the people that I've met 00:13:59.77\00:14:01.10 in medical have done more for me in my life 00:14:01.14\00:14:05.17 and just a little bit of time that I've known them 00:14:05.21\00:14:07.28 the most people I've had in my life forever. 00:14:07.31\00:14:09.84 And I wanted to say thank you to everybody 00:14:09.88\00:14:11.91 for what they've done for me in my life. 00:14:11.95\00:14:14.58 Without a doubt, 00:14:14.62\00:14:15.95 the success of Pathway to Health rests 00:14:15.98\00:14:17.72 on strong partnerships between mega clinic organizers, 00:14:17.75\00:14:21.09 and local civic and business leaders 00:14:21.12\00:14:23.43 working together to secure facilities 00:14:23.46\00:14:25.73 and to bring awareness to as many residents 00:14:25.76\00:14:27.86 as possible Pathways 00:14:27.90\00:14:29.53 to Health mega clinic provides free health, 00:14:29.56\00:14:32.83 dental and eye care for Angelinos 00:14:32.87\00:14:35.20 and their family members in there. 00:14:35.24\00:14:36.91 You can get prescriptions, a regular checkup, 00:14:36.94\00:14:39.34 even surgery without any red tape 00:14:39.37\00:14:41.81 and no other requirement than to be in here. 00:14:41.84\00:14:44.98 As each Pathway 00:14:45.01\00:14:46.35 to Health mega clinic concludes, 00:14:46.38\00:14:48.12 one question consistently rises to the top, 00:14:48.15\00:14:51.95 "Which city are you going to next?" 00:14:51.99\00:14:55.02 Whether you have already committed 00:14:55.06\00:14:56.56 to this partnership or considering doing so. 00:14:56.59\00:14:59.89 We look forward to working together 00:14:59.93\00:15:02.06 to bring hope and healing to as many as possible, 00:15:02.10\00:15:06.07 one person at a time. 00:15:06.10\00:15:07.60 Amen. What an incredible event. 00:15:19.38\00:15:22.48 As I think about Pathway to Health, 00:15:22.52\00:15:24.09 Greg and I had the privilege of being 00:15:24.12\00:15:25.45 there in San Antonio, 2015. 00:15:25.49\00:15:27.59 And seeing the line of people 00:15:27.62\00:15:29.32 line up all night waiting for their turn 00:15:29.36\00:15:31.93 to have surgery or medical care, 00:15:31.96\00:15:34.30 dental or vision and seeing the people as they came out, 00:15:34.33\00:15:37.67 lives transformed and touched. 00:15:37.70\00:15:39.63 Just an amazing experience. 00:15:39.67\00:15:41.00 So, Ivan, tell us where Pathway is going next? 00:15:41.04\00:15:43.37 Where's the next event? 00:15:43.41\00:15:44.74 Well, I'm excited to tell you, 00:15:44.77\00:15:46.11 we're going to be in Indianapolis in 2022. 00:15:46.14\00:15:49.64 And we were actually there just for the weekend. 00:15:49.68\00:15:51.71 And I was turn on the TV, 00:15:51.75\00:15:54.75 and there was a game right, a few blocks away. 00:15:54.78\00:15:57.39 And the announcer said, 00:15:57.42\00:15:58.75 it's Lucas Oil Stadium 00:15:58.79\00:16:00.16 and is one of the most beautiful venues 00:16:00.19\00:16:02.99 in the country. 00:16:03.02\00:16:04.36 And that's where we will be at the Lucas Oil Stadium, 00:16:04.39\00:16:07.20 April 17th through 20th is our medical clinic. 00:16:07.23\00:16:10.77 Our operation start on the 14th of April 00:16:10.80\00:16:13.37 and conclude on the 21st. 00:16:13.40\00:16:15.40 It's amazing. 00:16:15.44\00:16:16.77 So coming up next year. 00:16:16.81\00:16:18.14 And the interesting thing is, God chose this date, 00:16:18.17\00:16:20.94 we didn't and it happens to be over Easter. 00:16:20.98\00:16:24.05 Yes, He did. 00:16:24.08\00:16:25.45 So what better way to introduce Pathway than on Easter Sunday 00:16:25.48\00:16:30.02 and share the love of Christ that He gave for us 00:16:30.05\00:16:35.02 and resurrected on that day, 00:16:35.06\00:16:37.43 so we can share that love with the rest of the world. 00:16:37.46\00:16:40.16 Now, it's really interesting, 00:16:40.20\00:16:41.53 because usually Pathway to Health is always 00:16:41.56\00:16:43.16 in conjunction with the General Conference 00:16:43.20\00:16:44.67 in the same city. 00:16:44.70\00:16:46.33 So I know we were going to have General Conference 00:16:46.37\00:16:48.30 there in Indianapolis, but now it's moved to St. Louis. 00:16:48.34\00:16:51.44 So why did Pathway decide to still stay in Indianapolis? 00:16:51.47\00:16:55.94 Well, it was an interesting journey, 00:16:55.98\00:17:00.22 and it had to do with COVID. 00:17:00.25\00:17:03.12 But normally, you're right, Jill. 00:17:03.15\00:17:05.12 As you know, we, once every five years, 00:17:05.15\00:17:07.36 there's a special event when the worldwide church 00:17:07.39\00:17:09.56 comes together to do the church's business. 00:17:09.59\00:17:11.83 So thousands of people come from all over the world, 00:17:11.86\00:17:16.00 to whatever city, 00:17:16.03\00:17:17.83 the General Conference Session is going to happen. 00:17:17.87\00:17:20.20 And so Indianapolis has been planned for many years. 00:17:20.24\00:17:22.84 So that's why it was chosen. 00:17:22.87\00:17:25.77 And what happened was just before 00:17:25.81\00:17:31.05 we were ready to, I would say, 00:17:31.08\00:17:33.58 it was less than a month before we were ready 00:17:33.62\00:17:35.78 to have the Pathway event, COVID happened. 00:17:35.82\00:17:37.72 And... 00:17:37.75\00:17:39.09 That would have been March of 2020? 00:17:39.12\00:17:40.46 It was March, exactly right, of 2020. 00:17:40.49\00:17:42.92 And so the General Conference had to postpone. 00:17:42.96\00:17:46.13 No one could meet in groups of more than 200. 00:17:46.16\00:17:48.73 Both venues were way more than 200. 00:17:48.76\00:17:51.53 And so, we put it in the Lord's hands. 00:17:51.57\00:17:54.80 And we were able to, 00:17:54.84\00:17:56.17 the General Conference was able to reschedule, 00:17:56.20\00:17:58.14 we were able to reschedule for the 2021. 00:17:58.17\00:18:02.54 Okay. And it happened again. 00:18:02.58\00:18:04.88 And so it had to be postponed in January, 00:18:04.91\00:18:08.38 because imagine people coming from all over the world, 00:18:08.42\00:18:10.62 you can't travel right now, you can't get visas, 00:18:10.65\00:18:13.56 and we need the worldwide church to be present. 00:18:13.59\00:18:15.49 So it was again postponed to 2022. 00:18:15.52\00:18:19.16 But this time, 00:18:19.19\00:18:20.53 they couldn't accommodate the General Conference 00:18:20.56\00:18:22.53 on the dates that they needed the facilities. 00:18:22.56\00:18:24.63 In Indianapolis? 00:18:24.67\00:18:26.00 In Indianapolis. Okay. 00:18:26.03\00:18:27.37 And so, 00:18:27.40\00:18:28.74 we found out 00:18:28.77\00:18:31.67 quite suddenly that Pathway 00:18:31.71\00:18:35.68 is actually I mean, excuse me, 00:18:35.71\00:18:37.25 the General Conference 00:18:37.28\00:18:38.61 is actually going to have to move. 00:18:38.65\00:18:39.98 This put Pathway into a real dilemma. 00:18:40.02\00:18:42.65 What are we going to do? 00:18:42.68\00:18:44.02 I mean, you remember the discussions 00:18:44.05\00:18:45.39 we have on the board? 00:18:45.42\00:18:46.76 Do we follow the General Conference 00:18:46.79\00:18:48.82 and support the event like we usually do, or do we stay? 00:18:48.86\00:18:53.66 And there was a lot of talk, a lot of prayer, 00:18:53.70\00:18:56.77 but the real issue was for three and a half years, 00:18:56.80\00:19:02.04 the union, the conferences, 00:19:02.07\00:19:03.54 the pastors and the churches had been praying, 00:19:03.57\00:19:07.91 preparing, 00:19:07.94\00:19:09.28 organizing evangelistic events to support Pathway, 00:19:09.31\00:19:13.62 and most of all, the General Conference Session. 00:19:13.65\00:19:16.08 They'd worked so hard. 00:19:16.12\00:19:17.45 So I just want to pause a moment because 00:19:17.49\00:19:19.42 you said three and a half years. 00:19:19.45\00:19:20.79 Yes. 00:19:20.82\00:19:22.16 So this means when you do a mega clinic, 00:19:22.19\00:19:23.73 a Pathway to Health event, 00:19:23.76\00:19:25.19 we're talking years 00:19:25.23\00:19:26.56 of preparation before it even starts. 00:19:26.59\00:19:28.26 Well, months and months and months for sure. 00:19:28.30\00:19:30.27 But yes... 00:19:30.30\00:19:31.63 I would say yes, yes. Okay. 00:19:31.67\00:19:33.60 Yes, it's true. 00:19:33.64\00:19:35.30 It's true. It's true. 00:19:35.34\00:19:37.74 And so we didn't know what to do. 00:19:37.77\00:19:39.61 And so I called Elder Valentine, 00:19:39.64\00:19:41.51 who was the union president at that time 00:19:41.54\00:19:45.55 of the Lake Union and I said, "Elder Valentine, 00:19:45.58\00:19:47.82 what do you want us to do?" 00:19:47.85\00:19:50.32 You know what, and he said, 00:19:50.35\00:19:51.69 "You mean you might consider staying? 00:19:51.72\00:19:54.46 You might, we just assumed we're going to lose that way." 00:19:54.49\00:19:58.49 And I said, "We are going to do what the Lord tells us to do." 00:19:58.53\00:20:01.56 And we've had several, as you know, 00:20:01.60\00:20:03.47 different calls with the presidents 00:20:03.50\00:20:06.67 of both conferences, some of their leaders, 00:20:06.70\00:20:08.47 their pastors, their evangelists. 00:20:08.50\00:20:10.14 And it became very clear 00:20:10.17\00:20:11.97 that if we were to go to St. Louis, 00:20:12.01\00:20:14.04 all of the time that they had spent 00:20:14.08\00:20:16.91 not just preparing for Pathway, 00:20:16.95\00:20:18.75 but what they had been planning for the city, 00:20:18.78\00:20:21.45 for the outreach, the evangelism, 00:20:21.48\00:20:23.55 it would all be for nothing. 00:20:23.59\00:20:25.52 And so as you know, our board met, 00:20:25.55\00:20:27.02 and we unanimously prayed and talked, 00:20:27.06\00:20:30.99 and voted to stay in Indianapolis. 00:20:31.03\00:20:33.26 And, Jill, you remember during that phone call, 00:20:33.29\00:20:35.16 we got a special message from Elder Wilson. 00:20:35.20\00:20:37.20 We did. 00:20:37.23\00:20:38.83 And what he basically said was encouraging us, 00:20:38.87\00:20:43.04 "It's okay if you don't come to General Conference." 00:20:43.07\00:20:45.97 Encouraging us to stay in Indianapolis 00:20:46.01\00:20:48.51 and to support all of the work that had happened there, 00:20:48.54\00:20:51.18 the incredible work that had been done. 00:20:51.21\00:20:53.58 And he said he was going to do something unusual. 00:20:53.62\00:20:56.69 He was going to come and it was already 00:20:56.72\00:20:58.15 in the schedule right after Pathway 00:20:58.19\00:21:00.36 and personally do 00:21:00.39\00:21:01.72 as an evangelistic series for the city. 00:21:01.76\00:21:03.53 Yes, that's incredible. 00:21:03.56\00:21:04.89 You know, what I love, 00:21:04.93\00:21:06.26 one of the things I love about Pathway is the combination 00:21:06.29\00:21:08.76 of the medical with the spiritual. 00:21:08.80\00:21:11.10 Yes. And follow... 00:21:11.13\00:21:12.57 Yes, whole person health, following up with, 00:21:12.60\00:21:15.54 and tell me, just a moment, 00:21:15.57\00:21:16.91 we'll divert a moment about the follow up 00:21:16.94\00:21:18.67 that happens after Pathway with the spiritual, 00:21:18.71\00:21:20.94 and anyone can jump, 00:21:20.98\00:21:22.31 and the spiritual as well as the medical. 00:21:22.34\00:21:23.68 What happens with that? 00:21:23.71\00:21:25.05 Well, we definitely have a lot of follow ups opportunities 00:21:25.08\00:21:28.45 and programs for the people that come to the event. 00:21:28.48\00:21:32.39 And they are both spiritual, 00:21:32.42\00:21:34.26 as well as medical oriented and focused programs. 00:21:34.29\00:21:37.39 So if people need medical care that follow up, 00:21:37.43\00:21:40.70 we can coach them and guide them 00:21:40.73\00:21:42.06 how to live their lives better, 00:21:42.10\00:21:43.60 how to eat better, how to exercise better. 00:21:43.63\00:21:46.03 If they need spiritual care, we can also provide that. 00:21:46.07\00:21:49.40 And we're putting the final touches 00:21:49.44\00:21:51.21 on the next event of what is going to look like. 00:21:51.24\00:21:53.41 And we're hoping to have mental help as well for people 00:21:53.44\00:21:56.54 who come in and need help there. 00:21:56.58\00:21:59.51 But Kathryn is actually in charge 00:21:59.55\00:22:01.25 of our follow up here. 00:22:01.28\00:22:03.08 So I'll turn it over to her to finish it up. 00:22:03.12\00:22:05.52 Well, actually, the truth is, 00:22:05.55\00:22:07.56 it is the local people on the ground 00:22:07.59\00:22:11.36 who are really in charge. 00:22:11.39\00:22:12.79 Because we come for a week, 00:22:12.83\00:22:15.03 and we do our best to introduce the community 00:22:15.06\00:22:18.13 really by following Jesus' example by meeting 00:22:18.17\00:22:21.07 their physical needs, but then we leave. 00:22:21.10\00:22:24.11 And the exciting thing about Indianapolis 00:22:24.14\00:22:26.84 is the incredible work 00:22:26.88\00:22:28.88 that has been done by the local people. 00:22:28.91\00:22:30.28 So the outreach is going to be coordinated by Kathryn Griffin, 00:22:30.31\00:22:34.15 and also by Elder Tunde from the two conferences. 00:22:34.18\00:22:37.32 They each have a representative. 00:22:37.35\00:22:38.85 They have a plan that's going to go on for months and months. 00:22:38.89\00:22:41.16 There's many things planned. 00:22:41.19\00:22:43.29 And one exciting thing that we have learned 00:22:43.32\00:22:45.56 is that Adventist World Radio 00:22:45.59\00:22:47.36 is going to come and have a presence 00:22:47.40\00:22:49.43 and offers cell phone evangelism 00:22:49.46\00:22:51.50 for those that are interested. 00:22:51.53\00:22:52.87 I mean, it's, when you come to Pathway, 00:22:52.90\00:22:55.30 you're coming to get care. 00:22:55.34\00:22:56.91 We don't pressure anyone, 00:22:56.94\00:22:58.37 but many people really want spiritual healing. 00:22:58.41\00:23:01.91 And so we make that available as well. 00:23:01.94\00:23:04.51 Amen. 00:23:04.55\00:23:05.88 The real ministry happens after we leave. 00:23:05.91\00:23:08.35 And that's what we're so excited about. 00:23:08.38\00:23:10.45 I've never seen such a committed, 00:23:10.49\00:23:13.02 from the union to the conference, 00:23:13.05\00:23:14.82 down to every single pastor. 00:23:14.86\00:23:16.66 They are on fire to show their community 00:23:16.69\00:23:20.33 and their cities and surrounding areas 00:23:20.36\00:23:25.00 the love of Jesus. 00:23:25.03\00:23:26.37 Amen. It's exciting to see God's leading. 00:23:26.40\00:23:28.07 Absolutely. 00:23:28.10\00:23:29.44 Absolutely. Yes. 00:23:29.47\00:23:30.81 Yes. Oh, that's exciting. 00:23:30.84\00:23:32.17 So we talked at the very beginning, Ivan, 00:23:32.21\00:23:33.54 about the transition in leadership 00:23:33.58\00:23:35.68 and how God called you to step in as the President and CEO. 00:23:35.71\00:23:38.91 So tell us how Pathway to Health has transitioned 00:23:38.95\00:23:42.68 or has changed or adjusted under your leadership? 00:23:42.72\00:23:45.95 I always like the quote by John Maxwell, 00:23:45.99\00:23:48.46 and it goes something like this, 00:23:48.49\00:23:50.49 "Change is inevitable, growth is optional." 00:23:50.53\00:23:53.90 I like that. 00:23:53.93\00:23:55.53 COVID changed everything. 00:23:55.56\00:23:56.97 It changed how we live, it would change how we go out, 00:23:57.00\00:24:00.50 how we grocery shop. 00:24:00.54\00:24:02.37 It definitely changed how we're going 00:24:02.40\00:24:04.21 to be doing the Pathway event. 00:24:04.24\00:24:05.74 Dr. Bryson is going to go 00:24:05.77\00:24:07.11 a little bit more into the details 00:24:07.14\00:24:08.48 of that of how is that going to look like, 00:24:08.51\00:24:10.55 and we still actually don't know because 00:24:10.58\00:24:12.08 it's changing every week. 00:24:12.11\00:24:13.72 Yeah. 00:24:13.75\00:24:15.08 But it was about a year ago, 00:24:15.12\00:24:16.45 we sat around a table actually 00:24:16.48\00:24:17.95 we set in front of our zoom screens, 00:24:17.99\00:24:19.75 to be precise, and we... 00:24:19.79\00:24:23.96 There is a change in leadership, 00:24:23.99\00:24:26.73 but just wanted to remind everybody it's, 00:24:26.76\00:24:29.80 we've all been with Pathway involved for years. 00:24:29.83\00:24:33.03 So we're, we may be new faces on the cameras, 00:24:33.07\00:24:35.30 but we've all been with Pathway for years before that. 00:24:35.34\00:24:39.84 And we started talking about it, 00:24:39.87\00:24:41.21 what is the most important thing 00:24:41.24\00:24:42.81 we need to focus on? 00:24:42.84\00:24:44.18 And three things were so obvious 00:24:44.21\00:24:48.08 to us that jumped up there nothing else 00:24:48.12\00:24:49.75 could really be that important to it. 00:24:49.78\00:24:51.92 And one was our focus of the priority 00:24:51.95\00:24:55.99 for personal spiritual growth, 00:24:56.02\00:24:57.93 starting with a leadership. 00:24:57.96\00:24:59.29 Okay. 00:24:59.33\00:25:00.66 And that's what we started focusing on. 00:25:00.70\00:25:02.10 We started doing Friday night prayer meetings, 00:25:02.13\00:25:05.90 and want to make sure that we as leadership 00:25:05.93\00:25:07.97 of the organization are truly focusing ourselves 00:25:08.00\00:25:11.31 on a personal spiritual growth. 00:25:11.34\00:25:13.24 That's good. 00:25:13.27\00:25:14.61 The second part was, that really jumped out was, 00:25:14.64\00:25:18.05 it wasn't only about what we do, 00:25:18.08\00:25:21.05 but also how we do it, how we treat our patients, 00:25:21.08\00:25:24.65 but also just as important how we treat each other. 00:25:24.69\00:25:28.16 And we want to make sure we put Christ 00:25:28.19\00:25:30.03 in the center of everything we do, 00:25:30.06\00:25:32.06 not only the service, but also our attitudes, 00:25:32.09\00:25:36.16 our compassion, our care for the patients, 00:25:36.20\00:25:39.53 and for each other. 00:25:39.57\00:25:41.17 And the third part of that process was, 00:25:41.20\00:25:45.47 we're not doing this by ourselves. 00:25:45.51\00:25:47.41 This is not a monopoly of ministry. 00:25:47.44\00:25:49.48 Amen. 00:25:49.51\00:25:50.85 We need to partner with 00:25:50.88\00:25:52.58 local churches with unions, with conferences. 00:25:52.61\00:25:55.75 We're blessed to have two conferences, 00:25:55.78\00:25:57.12 Lake Region Conference, 00:25:57.15\00:25:58.49 Lake Union Conference in the area, 00:25:58.52\00:25:59.95 and also with North American Division. 00:25:59.99\00:26:01.66 We have to do it together. 00:26:01.69\00:26:03.59 As well, as we have launched a program 00:26:03.63\00:26:06.26 to partner with other ministries, 00:26:06.29\00:26:08.43 and which we'll talk a little bit in a second, 00:26:08.46\00:26:11.60 other ministers are doing the same work. 00:26:11.63\00:26:13.54 You say, how can we do this together? 00:26:13.57\00:26:15.37 Because we can only reach our full potential with God, 00:26:15.40\00:26:19.01 if we join our forces and do it united. 00:26:19.04\00:26:22.34 Amen. Absolutely. 00:26:22.38\00:26:23.71 You know, I think when you look at leadership, 00:26:23.75\00:26:25.38 it's so vitally important that you have purpose, 00:26:25.41\00:26:29.08 that you have vision, 00:26:29.12\00:26:30.45 and that you have follow through and walk that out. 00:26:30.49\00:26:32.82 And it's so exciting to see with Pathway, 00:26:32.85\00:26:35.09 those prayer meetings on Friday night, 00:26:35.12\00:26:37.06 and that, that prayer time together 00:26:37.09\00:26:38.79 and that seeking God 00:26:38.83\00:26:40.16 and then walking out that vision 00:26:40.20\00:26:42.40 that God has given to you. 00:26:42.43\00:26:43.77 So thank you. That's exciting. 00:26:43.80\00:26:45.40 As I think about the upcoming event, Kathryn, 00:26:45.43\00:26:47.64 are there concerns about the event? 00:26:47.67\00:26:49.24 I'm just thinking COVID, number one, 00:26:49.27\00:26:51.47 but are there concerns about the event? 00:26:51.51\00:26:53.78 What can we be praying for specifically about that? 00:26:53.81\00:26:57.35 Thank you, Jill, that is such a great question. 00:26:57.38\00:26:59.88 And you know this, 00:26:59.91\00:27:01.25 I have something that's a real burden on my heart. 00:27:01.28\00:27:03.42 And that is that we pray to come together 00:27:03.45\00:27:06.76 in unity of purpose to serve at Pathway. 00:27:06.79\00:27:10.53 And, I've just been thinking about COVID, 00:27:10.56\00:27:13.09 and what's been happening over the past few months. 00:27:13.13\00:27:15.86 And well, 00:27:15.90\00:27:17.57 let me just start by telling a little illustration 00:27:17.60\00:27:20.17 from my own life. 00:27:20.20\00:27:22.44 When I knew that I was going to be an ambassador, 00:27:22.47\00:27:24.94 I went through this period of time 00:27:24.97\00:27:26.31 where they were training me to be a diplomat. 00:27:26.34\00:27:28.18 And the thing that was urged over and over again, 00:27:28.21\00:27:31.55 you cannot under any circumstances 00:27:31.58\00:27:35.38 show any type of favoritism to either political party. 00:27:35.42\00:27:39.99 And if you do, you will be fired. 00:27:40.02\00:27:42.69 It was that serious, 00:27:42.72\00:27:44.06 and you'll be on the next plane home. 00:27:44.09\00:27:45.43 Well, why is that such a big deal? 00:27:45.46\00:27:48.46 It is, for two reasons. 00:27:48.50\00:27:49.83 First of all, I'm not Maltese. 00:27:49.86\00:27:52.13 I am an American citizen. 00:27:52.17\00:27:53.77 So what they decide who they vote for, 00:27:53.80\00:27:57.04 what government they elect, that's their business, 00:27:57.07\00:28:00.74 it's none of my business. 00:28:00.78\00:28:02.71 But the more important point 00:28:02.74\00:28:04.18 is that if we align with one side or another, 00:28:04.21\00:28:07.95 then we're going to lose influence 00:28:07.98\00:28:09.38 on the other side, and governments change. 00:28:09.42\00:28:11.62 So if you were to take the side of the government, 00:28:11.65\00:28:13.96 because we're with them more, and ignore those in opposition, 00:28:13.99\00:28:17.39 sooner or later, the opposition will become the government. 00:28:17.43\00:28:19.86 And for years, 00:28:19.89\00:28:21.23 the United States may not be 00:28:21.26\00:28:22.90 able to really advance our policies. 00:28:22.93\00:28:25.50 So it's a very serious thing. 00:28:25.53\00:28:27.70 So, you know, a strange thing has happened in our country. 00:28:27.74\00:28:31.14 We have become divided, politically divided. 00:28:33.14\00:28:36.58 It's happening in our country, it's happening in our families, 00:28:36.61\00:28:39.35 it's happening even in God's Church 00:28:39.38\00:28:41.68 where we're becoming divided. 00:28:41.72\00:28:43.72 It's really strange over a health issue, over COVID. 00:28:43.75\00:28:47.76 You know, we're not, Jill, 00:28:47.79\00:28:49.46 we're not citizens of this earth. 00:28:49.49\00:28:51.03 We are citizens of the kingdom of God. 00:28:51.06\00:28:52.76 We are all ambassadors of the Lord Jesus Christ. 00:28:52.79\00:28:56.56 And if we become a polarizing, 00:28:56.60\00:28:59.57 divisive force, 00:28:59.60\00:29:01.10 then we're going to alienate those 00:29:01.14\00:29:02.60 that God wants us to minister to. 00:29:02.64\00:29:04.67 And I think one of the really strengths 00:29:04.71\00:29:07.14 of Pathway is unity. 00:29:07.18\00:29:09.94 We have, and you know, 00:29:09.98\00:29:11.31 you've seen it, liberal Christians, 00:29:11.35\00:29:16.35 non-Adventist Christians, 00:29:16.38\00:29:17.75 conservative Christians, laity... 00:29:17.79\00:29:21.66 Church leaders. 00:29:21.69\00:29:23.02 Church leaders, young, very young and very, very old. 00:29:23.06\00:29:26.53 We've even had volunteers 00:29:26.56\00:29:27.90 in their 90s all coming together 00:29:27.93\00:29:30.07 for one purpose to unite in serving, 00:29:30.10\00:29:33.77 like the hands and feet of Jesus. 00:29:33.80\00:29:35.74 And so just pray for unity because, you know, 00:29:35.77\00:29:38.74 there's a scripture and this is the thing 00:29:38.77\00:29:43.24 that just keeps coming to my heart and mind. 00:29:43.28\00:29:46.68 In John 17... 00:29:46.72\00:29:49.22 That's where I was started. Awesome. 00:29:49.25\00:29:51.42 Yeah, I was thinking that. Do you want to read it? 00:29:51.45\00:29:52.79 No, go ahead. Go for it. 00:29:52.82\00:29:54.16 Okay. 00:29:54.19\00:29:55.52 In John 17:20-21, 00:29:55.56\00:29:57.99 and this is just before Jesus died. 00:29:58.03\00:29:59.36 "He prayed, My prayer is not for them alone, 00:29:59.39\00:30:02.90 I pray also for those who will believe 00:30:02.93\00:30:05.03 in Me through their message." 00:30:05.07\00:30:07.14 That's us. Yeah. 00:30:07.17\00:30:08.50 It's so cool to think the last thing Jesus prayed 00:30:08.54\00:30:10.44 for He included us in this generation, 00:30:10.47\00:30:13.31 that all of them might be one. 00:30:13.34\00:30:15.91 "Father, just as you are in Me and I am in You, 00:30:15.94\00:30:20.52 may also be an Us so that the world 00:30:20.55\00:30:24.19 may believe that You have sent Me." 00:30:24.22\00:30:26.39 So somehow, 00:30:26.42\00:30:27.76 the unity of the churches 00:30:27.79\00:30:29.12 is actually tied according to Jesus to the world 00:30:29.16\00:30:32.76 believing that He's the Son of God. 00:30:32.79\00:30:34.20 So it's a really serious thing. 00:30:34.23\00:30:35.56 And I think that's why 00:30:35.60\00:30:36.93 He actually sweat drops of blood. 00:30:36.97\00:30:40.14 He was agonizing over the unity of the church. 00:30:40.17\00:30:43.37 So that tells me that the devil wants to divide us. 00:30:43.41\00:30:47.11 And he will use anything, 00:30:47.14\00:30:48.58 including politics that he can to do so. 00:30:48.61\00:30:51.08 So we just need to pray for unity. 00:30:51.11\00:30:53.58 And I want Pathway to be the best example of unity 00:30:53.62\00:30:57.25 and everyone coming together. 00:30:57.29\00:30:59.02 Amen. I like that. 00:30:59.05\00:31:00.39 You know, we believe here at 3ABN, 00:31:00.42\00:31:02.29 unity is not uniformity really, 00:31:02.32\00:31:04.09 because it does not mean 00:31:04.13\00:31:05.86 that you don't hold your viewpoint 00:31:05.89\00:31:07.60 and I hold a viewpoint different, 00:31:07.63\00:31:08.96 and that's okay. 00:31:09.00\00:31:10.33 But that we still can come together as brothers 00:31:10.37\00:31:13.44 and sisters praying for that. 00:31:13.47\00:31:15.40 And we can if we hold different viewpoints, that's okay. 00:31:15.44\00:31:18.77 We don't argue about it. 00:31:18.81\00:31:20.14 We don't whatever, 00:31:20.18\00:31:21.51 we just move forward for the purpose 00:31:21.54\00:31:23.55 of spreading the gospel 00:31:23.58\00:31:24.91 or the purpose of holding these events. 00:31:24.95\00:31:26.28 So I love that. That's beautiful. 00:31:26.31\00:31:27.78 So, Dr. Julie, we got to come to you here. 00:31:27.82\00:31:29.85 Talk to us, as we were talking about 00:31:29.88\00:31:31.29 some of the challenges moving forward. 00:31:31.32\00:31:32.85 Of course, unity is one, 00:31:32.89\00:31:34.22 but what about with the pandemic? 00:31:34.26\00:31:36.02 And how does the pandemic even change or adjust, 00:31:36.06\00:31:39.79 how we hold these mega clinics, 00:31:39.83\00:31:42.03 because this is a lot of people coming together all at once. 00:31:42.06\00:31:44.97 So what's that going to look like? 00:31:45.00\00:31:46.60 Yeah, so one of the major goals of Pathway 00:31:46.63\00:31:49.37 to Health in this upcoming event is going 00:31:49.40\00:31:51.54 to be keeping our patients 00:31:51.57\00:31:53.78 and our volunteers safe from COVID-19 infections. 00:31:53.81\00:31:58.41 Now, of course, that's not completely within our power, 00:31:58.45\00:32:00.62 but to the best of our abilities, 00:32:00.65\00:32:02.12 and with the grace of God, we will plan ways to stay safe. 00:32:02.15\00:32:05.55 Okay. 00:32:05.59\00:32:06.92 We are basically a mobile hospital. 00:32:06.96\00:32:09.02 So we will probably have, 00:32:09.06\00:32:11.23 we will have protocols that you would find 00:32:11.26\00:32:13.43 in a hospital for safety, for infection, disease control. 00:32:13.46\00:32:17.53 And that includes some things that everybody knows about, 00:32:17.57\00:32:19.43 like hand hygiene, keeping your hands clean, 00:32:19.47\00:32:21.67 everybody's doing that, right? 00:32:21.70\00:32:23.10 It will include spacing, proper spacing between people, 00:32:23.14\00:32:27.64 between departments, if needed, 00:32:27.68\00:32:29.34 depending on what they're doing. 00:32:29.38\00:32:30.88 And it will include things like keeping the lines down, 00:32:30.91\00:32:34.35 not having long lines. 00:32:34.38\00:32:35.72 So those long lines in the past that you mentioned earlier, 00:32:35.75\00:32:37.82 we're going to try to avoid that. 00:32:37.85\00:32:39.85 We're going to try to have, 00:32:39.89\00:32:41.22 not have large groups of people in one space. 00:32:41.26\00:32:44.46 We're also going to have patients wear masks. 00:32:44.49\00:32:47.76 And our volunteers will either wear surgical masks 00:32:47.80\00:32:50.43 or N95 masks. 00:32:50.47\00:32:52.27 And some places some departments 00:32:52.30\00:32:54.17 and some people will actually wear 00:32:54.20\00:32:55.57 other protective equipment depending 00:32:55.60\00:32:57.51 on the level of risk of them having exposure to droplets. 00:32:57.54\00:33:02.31 So we're looking at all of these different things, 00:33:02.34\00:33:05.51 to kind of keep things on a different line. 00:33:05.55\00:33:07.25 Now things change with COVID, as we all know, right? 00:33:07.28\00:33:08.82 Right. 00:33:08.85\00:33:10.19 And a lot of people say, "Well, how come is always changing? 00:33:10.22\00:33:11.62 How come they're always telling me something different?" 00:33:11.65\00:33:13.02 Well, it makes sense, because we're learning. 00:33:13.05\00:33:15.12 When COVID started, we knew nothing. 00:33:15.16\00:33:16.69 And now we're gradually building on that knowledge. 00:33:16.73\00:33:19.09 And science is coming up with new things. 00:33:19.13\00:33:21.86 We're coming up with new treatments, 00:33:21.90\00:33:23.23 new therapies, new ideas of how to help people. 00:33:23.26\00:33:25.70 And so we'll be following that. 00:33:25.73\00:33:27.44 And also the virus changes. 00:33:27.47\00:33:29.40 So even while we're trying to catch up, 00:33:29.44\00:33:31.34 it does something different, 00:33:31.37\00:33:32.71 and so we're going to have to keep up with that. 00:33:32.74\00:33:34.08 But our goal and our intention is to follow 00:33:34.11\00:33:37.15 the best clinical guidelines for safety, 00:33:37.18\00:33:39.61 and for infection disease control at the event 00:33:39.65\00:33:42.25 and then completely trust God 00:33:42.28\00:33:44.05 to take care of us and to keep us safe. 00:33:44.09\00:33:47.92 Amen. 00:33:47.96\00:33:49.29 That's right, because we do everything we can, 00:33:49.32\00:33:50.89 and then we pray and trust Him, you know, 00:33:50.93\00:33:52.69 so you mentioned it being like a mobile hospital, 00:33:52.73\00:33:54.93 I love that illustration. 00:33:54.96\00:33:56.50 What sort of services will be offered to the patients 00:33:56.53\00:33:58.83 who come in Indianapolis? 00:33:58.87\00:34:00.20 Well, you saw the list, it's still there. 00:34:00.24\00:34:02.10 There's going to be eye care and glasses, 00:34:02.14\00:34:05.77 there's going to still be dental. 00:34:05.81\00:34:07.34 And we're hoping for a really good dental team. 00:34:07.38\00:34:09.08 We're really looking forward to that. 00:34:09.11\00:34:10.98 We're trying to make more available if possible, 00:34:11.01\00:34:13.05 we will have medical services 00:34:13.08\00:34:14.42 and that includes a lot of things. 00:34:14.45\00:34:15.78 That includes general medical services, 00:34:15.82\00:34:17.15 including specialties, things like cardiology, 00:34:17.19\00:34:19.89 dermatology, podiatry, 00:34:19.92\00:34:23.09 there will be surgical services. 00:34:23.12\00:34:24.83 And we will have minor surgeries 00:34:24.86\00:34:27.13 at the site like we have in the past 00:34:27.16\00:34:28.50 and we hope to also have some surgeons working 00:34:28.53\00:34:30.73 in local hospitals to do major surgeries. 00:34:30.77\00:34:33.84 We will have women's care, 00:34:33.87\00:34:35.30 but also we focus a lot on the physical. 00:34:35.34\00:34:38.27 But we're also as we've mentioned before, 00:34:38.31\00:34:39.84 very interested in helping people with emotional, 00:34:39.87\00:34:42.21 mental health as well as spiritual care. 00:34:42.24\00:34:44.21 So there will be all those services. 00:34:44.25\00:34:45.58 And then there are the fun things, 00:34:45.61\00:34:46.98 right, like some physical therapy, massage. 00:34:47.02\00:34:49.68 Yes, I saw that in the video. 00:34:49.72\00:34:52.45 I don't want you for that. 00:34:52.49\00:34:53.82 And one of our staff members came up with this great idea 00:34:53.86\00:34:56.02 for some people who might be not, 00:34:56.06\00:34:58.69 they may not have a home to get the shower in. 00:34:58.73\00:35:01.16 We're going to see if we can get a shower unit available. 00:35:01.20\00:35:04.43 We're going to look into that and partner 00:35:04.47\00:35:05.80 with another company to do that. 00:35:05.83\00:35:07.17 So we are open to ideas, 00:35:07.20\00:35:09.14 and we're trying to bring as many services 00:35:09.17\00:35:11.61 as possible to the people of Indianapolis. 00:35:11.64\00:35:13.68 So we're going to put up contact 00:35:13.71\00:35:15.04 for Pathway at the very end. 00:35:15.08\00:35:16.41 But I want to plug your website right now, 00:35:16.44\00:35:17.78 because someone's watching right now. 00:35:17.81\00:35:19.61 And you're saying, "Oh, I'm a doctor, 00:35:19.65\00:35:21.62 I'm free those dates, 00:35:21.65\00:35:22.98 or I could make myself available those dates. 00:35:23.02\00:35:25.72 I want to help. 00:35:25.75\00:35:27.12 And I want to get involved in health evangelism." 00:35:27.16\00:35:30.13 Or maybe you're a nurse, 00:35:30.16\00:35:31.63 or maybe some sort of health care professional, 00:35:31.66\00:35:34.00 or maybe you have no medical training, 00:35:34.03\00:35:36.06 can you still use them? 00:35:36.10\00:35:37.67 Yes. Okay. 00:35:37.70\00:35:39.33 So that website pathway to health. org 00:35:39.37\00:35:42.90 Can people go right now and register? 00:35:42.94\00:35:44.71 They can go right now and register, 00:35:44.74\00:35:46.07 you say get involved. 00:35:46.11\00:35:47.44 And you'll see a list of both things, 00:35:47.48\00:35:51.01 how to get involved and help us, 00:35:51.05\00:35:52.61 as well as what are positions we're right now looking for. 00:35:52.65\00:35:56.42 So you can go in when you register 00:35:56.45\00:35:58.82 and volunteer for that particular area. 00:35:58.85\00:36:00.89 Absolutely. Yeah. 00:36:00.92\00:36:02.52 That's exciting. 00:36:02.56\00:36:04.29 So we're transitioning into volunteering, 00:36:04.33\00:36:08.10 but how many volunteers do you need? 00:36:08.13\00:36:10.03 Oh, as many as we can get? 00:36:10.07\00:36:11.90 We need you. 00:36:11.93\00:36:14.07 Have you registered? 00:36:14.10\00:36:16.04 Well, I feel a little put on the spot 00:36:16.07\00:36:18.04 at the moment asking that. 00:36:18.07\00:36:19.97 We need everybody. 00:36:20.01\00:36:21.34 I have not registered yet. 00:36:21.38\00:36:22.71 That's the honest answer. But we need everybody. 00:36:22.74\00:36:24.41 And the point about whether you're medical 00:36:24.45\00:36:26.88 or not is so important. 00:36:26.92\00:36:28.25 There are people that are saying, 00:36:28.28\00:36:29.62 "I'm not medical, in fact, I faint at the sight of blood. 00:36:29.65\00:36:31.85 I can't, you know, I can't handle that." 00:36:31.89\00:36:33.79 We probably need more non-medical volunteers 00:36:33.82\00:36:37.26 than we need medical. 00:36:37.29\00:36:38.63 Yeah. 00:36:38.66\00:36:40.00 Because there's so many other things to do. 00:36:40.03\00:36:41.56 And there's, you know, there's things like child care, 00:36:41.60\00:36:44.67 we actually have children's programs going 00:36:44.70\00:36:46.37 on for both volunteers and the patients. 00:36:46.40\00:36:49.94 We need, there's some stuff on this list here. 00:36:49.97\00:36:51.44 I'm looking at the list. 00:36:51.47\00:36:52.81 Now if you look at that list, you notice something, 00:36:52.84\00:36:54.18 all the medical specialties 00:36:54.21\00:36:55.54 and different things that they need, 00:36:55.58\00:36:57.01 they're all needed, by the way, we really need those. 00:36:57.05\00:36:58.41 But it looks longer than the other list but 00:36:58.45\00:37:00.08 it shouldn't be because there's other stuff 00:37:00.12\00:37:01.45 we can't fit on that card. 00:37:01.48\00:37:02.82 Okay. 00:37:02.85\00:37:04.19 So, you know, we already mentioned haircuts, 00:37:04.22\00:37:05.55 you know, we need people that can translate, 00:37:05.59\00:37:07.52 we need people that can drive things in, 00:37:07.56\00:37:09.99 we need people that can unload, 00:37:10.03\00:37:11.69 we need people that sets decorations, 00:37:11.73\00:37:14.00 all sorts of different things. 00:37:14.03\00:37:15.46 We especially need people that can walk our patients 00:37:15.50\00:37:18.83 from place to place and, 00:37:18.87\00:37:20.20 we call that the hospitality team. 00:37:20.24\00:37:21.57 Yes. 00:37:21.60\00:37:22.94 If they can reach people, they have a connection 00:37:22.97\00:37:24.31 with the people, and they help them to get the services 00:37:24.34\00:37:25.97 that they need to follow, 00:37:26.01\00:37:27.34 because it's a big place and things, 00:37:27.38\00:37:28.71 people get lost. 00:37:28.74\00:37:30.08 And to help them and make that connection with them, 00:37:30.11\00:37:32.51 to show them the love of Christ. 00:37:32.55\00:37:33.88 So there's a lot of things you might come 00:37:33.92\00:37:35.32 and you might find that you are doing something 00:37:35.35\00:37:37.35 you've never done in your life before, and you might love it. 00:37:37.39\00:37:39.42 You might not, but you know, 00:37:39.45\00:37:40.79 it's going to be a great experience. 00:37:40.82\00:37:42.16 So please register. 00:37:42.19\00:37:43.89 Yeah, absolutely. 00:37:43.93\00:37:45.26 I think the bottom line 00:37:45.29\00:37:46.63 is if you are breathing right now... 00:37:46.66\00:37:48.23 And smiling. 00:37:48.26\00:37:49.60 If you can smile, then you qualify as a volunteer. 00:37:49.63\00:37:52.20 Amen. 00:37:52.23\00:37:53.57 That's all you need is to be able to travel, of course, 00:37:53.60\00:37:55.60 you'd need to be able to travel there, 00:37:55.64\00:37:56.97 but to be able to travel and to be able to do that. 00:37:57.01\00:37:58.61 Yeah. And that reminds me of the age. 00:37:58.64\00:37:59.97 A lot of people ask about what age can come? 00:38:00.01\00:38:01.61 So 13, 00:38:01.64\00:38:03.11 we can actually use people 13 and up for volunteering. 00:38:03.14\00:38:05.71 With the guardian. 00:38:05.75\00:38:07.08 We need a guardian with them, 00:38:07.12\00:38:08.45 guardian of some sort to come and give them permission. 00:38:08.48\00:38:10.55 So I would say kids make sure you bring your parents. 00:38:10.59\00:38:12.45 We need them too. Okay. 00:38:12.49\00:38:14.42 We need, we can use people we'd mentioned, 99, 110, 00:38:14.46\00:38:18.59 whatever you're like, please come, 00:38:18.63\00:38:20.43 we'll find a way to keep you safe and keep you busy. 00:38:20.46\00:38:23.37 Yeah. That's wonderful. 00:38:23.40\00:38:24.73 So, Kathryn, besides volunteers, 00:38:24.77\00:38:27.44 what else do we need for Pathway? 00:38:27.47\00:38:29.27 We need partners. Okay. 00:38:29.30\00:38:30.67 Because we can't do this alone. 00:38:30.71\00:38:32.97 It is so big and so massive. 00:38:33.01\00:38:36.01 And we have many partners. 00:38:36.04\00:38:37.38 We have, we talked about some of our church partners, 00:38:37.41\00:38:39.95 that North American Division, Adventist World Radio, 00:38:39.98\00:38:43.82 we've talked about the Indiana Conference, 00:38:43.85\00:38:45.65 the Lake Regional Conference and the Lake Union, 00:38:45.69\00:38:48.52 the normal church partners, but thinking outside the box, 00:38:48.56\00:38:52.79 we need to partner with different ministries. 00:38:52.83\00:38:55.43 We're really excited that we're going 00:38:55.46\00:38:57.00 to be working with sister ministries 00:38:57.03\00:38:58.90 like AMEN that and we're excited about 00:38:58.93\00:39:02.30 that because we do similar things. 00:39:02.34\00:39:04.61 And our dream is that when Pathway leaves 00:39:04.64\00:39:07.78 on a periodic basis, 00:39:07.81\00:39:09.44 AMEN may come and do another event. 00:39:09.48\00:39:11.75 But we're working together and we're having so much fun. 00:39:11.78\00:39:14.98 So we're looking for opportunities, 00:39:15.02\00:39:16.45 if any of you know, 00:39:16.48\00:39:17.82 if any of our viewers know, 00:39:17.85\00:39:19.55 a partnership that might work. 00:39:19.59\00:39:20.96 But if you think about it, we cooperate with local labs, 00:39:20.99\00:39:24.89 we cooperate with people on the ground, 00:39:24.93\00:39:27.43 not even necessarily Christian organizations. 00:39:27.46\00:39:31.63 And by doing that, 00:39:31.67\00:39:33.67 it's kind of like the body of Christ example. 00:39:33.70\00:39:37.71 Pathway's one piece of the body, 00:39:37.74\00:39:39.97 but it takes so much more for this 00:39:40.01\00:39:42.61 to become a living beam. 00:39:42.64\00:39:44.81 We need partners on levels that you 00:39:44.85\00:39:48.35 just imagine what does it take? 00:39:48.38\00:39:49.72 We need them. 00:39:49.75\00:39:51.09 And we have a special video because 00:39:51.12\00:39:53.86 this is just a really amazing story, 00:39:53.89\00:39:57.03 but it shows the power in collaborating together 00:39:57.06\00:40:01.26 and in partnerships. 00:40:01.30\00:40:02.80 By coming together, 00:40:02.83\00:40:04.17 we can do things that we could never do on our own. 00:40:04.20\00:40:06.60 And in this particular case, 00:40:06.63\00:40:08.20 it was a partnership that happened 00:40:08.24\00:40:10.41 at the LA event between Pathway, 00:40:10.44\00:40:14.68 Glendale Adventist Hospital and Adventist Health. 00:40:14.71\00:40:19.41 And by partnering together, 00:40:19.45\00:40:22.62 we were really able to impact 00:40:22.65\00:40:25.12 and change a patient's life in ways 00:40:25.15\00:40:27.26 that we just couldn't have done in any other way. 00:40:27.29\00:40:30.53 So I'd like to show that video if it's okay, Jill. 00:40:30.56\00:40:32.63 Oh, yes, absolutely. 00:40:32.66\00:40:34.00 Let's take a look at that right now. 00:40:34.03\00:40:35.36 I had a sickness for a period of years 00:40:53.88\00:40:56.99 that I decided to ignore. 00:40:57.02\00:40:58.82 I was really scared that it was cancer. 00:40:58.85\00:41:01.72 I know that that was blocking me 00:41:01.76\00:41:03.93 from accomplishing many things in life. 00:41:03.96\00:41:06.23 When I saw the flyer, I said, 00:41:06.26\00:41:08.73 "There's got to be hundreds of thousands of people 00:41:08.76\00:41:11.30 that need this more than I do." 00:41:11.33\00:41:14.00 I'm finally after five years of knowing this health problem 00:41:14.04\00:41:17.67 that I had, you know, I'm going to face it. 00:41:17.71\00:41:19.67 There's nothing I can lose. 00:41:19.71\00:41:21.04 If it's free, I have to go for it. 00:41:21.08\00:41:23.35 The Pathway event 00:41:28.18\00:41:29.52 is really a inner city medical mission project. 00:41:29.55\00:41:34.32 Around 3000 volunteers served thousands of Angelinos. 00:41:34.36\00:41:39.29 People thought that this was some kind of a scam. 00:41:39.33\00:41:41.73 Why would all these people claim to do all this lab work 00:41:41.76\00:41:45.97 and have pharmaceuticals and specialists 00:41:46.00\00:41:48.44 and primary care doctors and X-rays and dental clinics? 00:41:48.47\00:41:52.11 There's got to be a catch. 00:41:52.14\00:41:53.48 Nobody does this for free. 00:41:53.51\00:41:55.34 The day came. 00:41:55.38\00:41:56.71 When I get to see a doctor, did ultrasound, 00:41:56.75\00:41:59.91 and he definitely decided that we needed to do a surgery. 00:41:59.95\00:42:03.02 It was an eight centimeter tumor 00:42:03.05\00:42:04.59 that had to be removed. 00:42:04.62\00:42:06.42 I knew that Isidro really needed the surgery. 00:42:06.45\00:42:09.52 When I tried to call Dr. Ebrahimi, 00:42:09.56\00:42:12.13 I didn't know how to tell him that we need him to do 00:42:12.16\00:42:14.80 the surgery today. 00:42:14.83\00:42:16.16 And he was not going to get paid for it. 00:42:16.20\00:42:17.80 Ramella called me saying, "Hey, you know those things 00:42:17.83\00:42:19.80 that you wanted for the patient? 00:42:19.83\00:42:21.17 We'll get him arranged, we'll take care of it, 00:42:21.20\00:42:22.67 would you just be kind enough to do the surgery?" 00:42:22.70\00:42:24.47 I said, "Yeah." 00:42:24.51\00:42:25.84 You know, a few hours later, 00:42:25.87\00:42:27.21 Ramella comes back and says, "We have a surgeon." 00:42:27.24\00:42:30.25 That same night, I came in this hospital, 00:42:30.28\00:42:32.51 when I was putting on my mask for anesthesia, 00:42:32.55\00:42:36.15 I felt a relief from God, 00:42:36.18\00:42:38.95 they're going to do God's work, 00:42:38.99\00:42:40.56 and they're going to take care of it. 00:42:40.59\00:42:42.72 I woke up the next morning in a room, 00:42:42.76\00:42:45.19 I didn't know what was going on, I was in pain, 00:42:45.23\00:42:47.63 the doctor still recommended to do chemotherapy 00:42:47.66\00:42:50.67 and radioactive therapy. 00:42:50.70\00:42:52.03 Chemotherapy is an extremely expensive commodity. 00:42:52.07\00:42:55.80 So the fact that the hospital was 00:42:55.84\00:42:57.71 willing to take care of that, 00:42:57.74\00:42:59.61 it just complimented the whole process. 00:42:59.64\00:43:01.81 It's such a pleasure, 00:43:01.84\00:43:03.18 if you can help someone and be cured 00:43:03.21\00:43:05.48 of potentially deadly disease. 00:43:05.51\00:43:07.72 It's extremely rewarding. 00:43:07.75\00:43:09.35 I didn't have the financial needs to get it done. 00:43:09.38\00:43:11.45 I know it was going to be a very expensive treatment 00:43:11.49\00:43:14.82 and a very expensive surgery. 00:43:14.86\00:43:17.03 But the support that the hospital gave me 00:43:17.06\00:43:19.39 was a miracle because 00:43:19.43\00:43:21.66 they helped me through everything. 00:43:21.70\00:43:23.50 It's not just whatever ailment 00:43:23.53\00:43:25.83 that the patient is presenting with, 00:43:25.87\00:43:27.37 but it's also their spiritual well-being. 00:43:27.40\00:43:30.01 It absolutely fits perfectly with our mission 00:43:30.04\00:43:32.44 to share God's love with our community, 00:43:32.47\00:43:34.81 My life took complete 360. 00:43:34.84\00:43:37.45 Is a new life, 00:43:37.48\00:43:38.81 and I don't see things the same way as I used to. 00:43:38.85\00:43:41.12 Amen. 00:43:49.46\00:43:50.79 That's an incredible story of partnership. 00:43:50.83\00:43:52.99 Think about Isidro, I think that's what his name was. 00:43:53.03\00:43:56.10 And you go to this free medical clinic 00:43:56.13\00:43:58.13 and have these issues 00:43:58.17\00:43:59.67 and discover all of a sudden someone's going 00:43:59.70\00:44:01.70 to give you surgery for free. 00:44:01.74\00:44:03.51 Someone's going to give you chemotherapy for free. 00:44:03.54\00:44:06.74 And the Lord used 00:44:06.78\00:44:08.11 that that medical care to save his life. 00:44:08.14\00:44:10.51 Yeah. What an incredible testimony. 00:44:10.55\00:44:13.35 So, how can our viewers get involved? 00:44:13.38\00:44:17.35 Because we've been talking about volunteers, 00:44:17.39\00:44:19.42 and that's of course, one way, 00:44:19.45\00:44:20.79 we've been talking about 00:44:20.82\00:44:22.16 partnership with other ministries, 00:44:22.19\00:44:23.73 but to me, this is a partnership between 3ABN 00:44:23.76\00:44:25.86 and Pathway that we can bring to you at home, 00:44:25.89\00:44:29.30 the Ministry of Pathway to Health 00:44:29.33\00:44:31.53 and we can encourage you to get involved. 00:44:31.57\00:44:34.04 So how can our viewers get involved, Ivan? 00:44:34.07\00:44:37.27 Well, we're not under no illusion 00:44:37.31\00:44:39.97 that 2022 will be easy thing to put together. 00:44:40.01\00:44:44.78 It is, we are dealing with new processes, 00:44:44.81\00:44:47.08 we're dealing with new protocols, 00:44:47.12\00:44:48.88 we're dealing with a lot of new things 00:44:48.92\00:44:50.99 that are coming our way. 00:44:51.02\00:44:53.62 But we feel very encouraged, 00:44:53.66\00:44:55.76 and we're very confident that if we come together, 00:44:55.79\00:44:59.36 if we combine our forces 00:44:59.39\00:45:01.53 and get the volunteers to volunteer, 00:45:01.56\00:45:04.33 that we can put an event like we haven't seen yet. 00:45:04.37\00:45:07.84 And it's a great opportunity 00:45:07.87\00:45:11.01 that to find limitless strength 00:45:11.04\00:45:14.38 in God to pull this through, and witness to Indianapolis. 00:45:14.41\00:45:19.31 So that's something 00:45:19.35\00:45:20.68 that we are really excited about. 00:45:20.72\00:45:23.95 So we try to simplify things. 00:45:23.99\00:45:25.32 How do we get involved? 00:45:25.35\00:45:26.69 We think about it as three P's. 00:45:26.72\00:45:29.32 Okay. We need prayer. 00:45:29.36\00:45:30.89 Yes. Everybody's prayer... 00:45:30.93\00:45:32.26 Amen. 00:45:32.29\00:45:33.63 Number one. Number one. 00:45:33.66\00:45:35.00 And we need everybody to pray here in the room, 00:45:35.03\00:45:37.40 as well as everybody who's watching right now. 00:45:37.43\00:45:39.90 That's one thing. We need participation. 00:45:39.93\00:45:42.17 We need participation. 00:45:42.20\00:45:43.54 We talked about volunteers at the event. 00:45:43.57\00:45:44.91 But I also wanted to highlight, 00:45:44.94\00:45:47.08 we need participation before the event. 00:45:47.11\00:45:49.64 We need volunteers before the event, during the event, 00:45:49.68\00:45:53.48 and after the event. 00:45:53.52\00:45:54.85 What sort of participation do you need before the event? 00:45:54.88\00:45:57.09 For example, we have a great need 00:45:57.12\00:45:58.45 for social media engagement. 00:45:58.49\00:46:00.29 So if the newer generations 00:46:00.32\00:46:01.96 are much more savvy with social media 00:46:01.99\00:46:03.86 than I am or Kathryn or Julie are, 00:46:03.89\00:46:07.63 can help us. 00:46:07.66\00:46:09.00 We would love to have them involved and says how do 00:46:09.03\00:46:11.63 we engage with people who come to our websites, 00:46:11.67\00:46:13.87 we'll go to Instagram, Twitter, 00:46:13.90\00:46:17.31 get social media coordinator, 00:46:17.34\00:46:19.87 that's what we're looking for right now... 00:46:19.91\00:46:21.24 Okay. 00:46:21.28\00:46:22.61 And we need ambassadors 00:46:22.64\00:46:23.98 for that throughout this period. 00:46:24.01\00:46:26.05 We need a number of other people, 00:46:26.08\00:46:27.62 IT technicians that we need to make sure 00:46:27.65\00:46:29.42 that everything is set up. 00:46:29.45\00:46:30.79 This takes a lot of technological, 00:46:30.82\00:46:33.92 advanced knowledge to run something like this. 00:46:33.96\00:46:36.93 And we need people like that. 00:46:36.96\00:46:38.73 So those are just some of the examples 00:46:38.76\00:46:40.86 that we're involved. 00:46:40.90\00:46:42.43 And the end of the day, the third P, 00:46:42.46\00:46:44.07 which I can't forget, is pennies, we do need pennies. 00:46:44.10\00:46:47.84 And we made it very simple for you to go on our website, 00:46:47.87\00:46:51.47 which you already mentioned, 00:46:51.51\00:46:53.07 path way to health.org and click on get involved. 00:46:53.11\00:46:56.78 There's different programs that you can, there's, 00:46:56.81\00:47:00.62 we labeled 20 for 22. 00:47:00.65\00:47:03.22 So 2022, ask for 2022, you can sponsor a clinic, 00:47:03.25\00:47:08.79 and you can also sponsor a patient. 00:47:08.82\00:47:10.59 It's been really amazing that with all the generosity 00:47:10.63\00:47:16.26 and sacrifice from our volunteers, 00:47:16.30\00:47:18.57 and support and generosity from our sponsors, 00:47:18.60\00:47:22.40 we're actually able to bring the cost down 00:47:22.44\00:47:25.01 of serving patients to only $100 per patient. 00:47:25.04\00:47:28.74 Really? So... 00:47:28.78\00:47:30.11 But they don't pay that. They don't pay that. 00:47:30.15\00:47:32.51 No, the patients don't pay that. 00:47:32.55\00:47:33.98 No, but this is amazing.
