00:01:18.81\00:01:21.58 and we always have to be reminded 00:01:21.61\00:01:23.04 of the great commission 00:01:23.08\00:01:24.41 that Christ has given us as a church. 00:01:24.45\00:01:26.41 Of course, it's found in Matthew 28:19-20, 00:01:26.45\00:01:30.95 Jesus says, "Go therefore and make disciples 00:01:30.99\00:01:32.99 of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, 00:01:33.02\00:01:36.42 and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit, 00:01:36.46\00:01:39.03 teaching them to observe all things 00:01:39.06\00:01:40.90 that I have commanded you, and lo, 00:01:40.93\00:01:42.60 I am with you always, even to the end of the age." 00:01:42.63\00:01:47.04 It's a beautiful promise that we have, 00:01:47.07\00:01:48.90 but Christ is, He has bestowed a blessing upon us 00:01:48.94\00:01:51.27 a great commission 00:01:51.31\00:01:52.64 that we go and make disciples of all nations. 00:01:52.67\00:01:56.11 Today on this program 00:01:56.14\00:01:57.51 00:08:00.24\00:08:03.65 Brother Dee Casper, 00:08:03.68\00:08:05.01 the director of CORE Evangelism. 00:08:05.05\00:08:06.38 How are you, brother? 00:08:06.41\00:08:07.75 Great, good to be here. 00:08:07.78\00:08:09.12 Amen. 00:08:09.15\00:08:10.49 It's a blessing to have you guys here and, of course, 00:08:10.52\00:08:11.85 to your left and to my right here, we have Miss Hannah Peak. 00:08:11.89\00:08:14.26 And, Hannah, you're not so much a stranger to the 3ABN family, 00:08:14.29\00:08:17.86 because your parents work here and around the area. 00:08:17.89\00:08:20.13 So it's a blessing to have you here as well. 00:08:20.16\00:08:21.96 Right, I used to work here too before I moved away. 00:08:22.00\00:08:24.03 Okay. All right. 00:08:24.07\00:08:26.20 And then, of course, we have Brother James Park. 00:08:26.23\00:08:28.24 It's always a blessing brother to have new faces 00:08:28.27\00:08:30.51 and you are a new face here. 00:08:30.54\00:08:32.31 Is this your first time on 3ABN? 00:08:32.34\00:08:33.68 Yes, it is. Yeah. 00:08:33.71\00:08:35.04 All right. 00:08:35.08\00:08:36.41 Well, it's a blessing to have you as well. 00:08:36.44\00:08:37.78 Thank you. 00:08:37.81\00:08:39.15 They, all of them are here to tell us about 00:08:39.18\00:08:40.52 the CORE Evangelism Discipleship Program. 00:08:40.55\00:08:43.72 And so, Dee, I'm going to come to you first 00:08:43.75\00:08:45.85 because got to ask them, 00:08:45.89\00:08:47.66 I guess the most important question. 00:08:47.69\00:08:49.02 What in the world is CORE Evangelism 00:08:49.06\00:08:51.39 and tell us a little bit about how it got started? 00:08:51.43\00:08:53.56 Sure. 00:08:53.60\00:08:54.93 So the CORE Discipleship and Evangelism training program 00:08:54.96\00:08:57.23 is a ministry of the Pennsylvania Conference 00:08:57.27\00:08:59.63 and we're basically discipling and training young adults 00:08:59.67\00:09:02.34 to own their faith, to find their calling 00:09:02.37\00:09:04.47 and to empower them to change the world. 00:09:04.51\00:09:06.17 That's kind of the big picture intention. 00:09:06.21\00:09:08.34 So kind of the 18 to 35ish demographic. 00:09:08.38\00:09:11.91 We say ish, because you know, we can talk about it, 00:09:11.95\00:09:14.85 you know, if we're in the general age range, 00:09:14.88\00:09:16.22 let's talk about it. 00:09:16.25\00:09:17.59 Let's see if this is a good fit. 00:09:17.62\00:09:18.95 Sure. 00:09:18.99\00:09:20.32 But, yeah, so we're on the same campus 00:09:20.36\00:09:21.69 as Blue Mountain Academy. 00:09:21.72\00:09:23.06 So the academy was built for 400 students. 00:09:23.09\00:09:24.66 Many years ago, they've got close to like 130 range. 00:09:24.69\00:09:27.33 So we use half of their dormitories. 00:09:27.36\00:09:29.80 We eat in their cafeteria. 00:09:29.83\00:09:31.17 So it's just a great partnership 00:09:31.20\00:09:32.53 that we partner with them. 00:09:32.57\00:09:33.90 They partner with us and it's a beautiful area. 00:09:33.94\00:09:35.50 The Appalachian Trail is literally 00:09:35.54\00:09:36.87 right across the street, it's a super pretty place. 00:09:36.91\00:09:39.77 And so that's the big picture of what we're seeking to do 00:09:39.81\00:09:43.14 and kind of how it operates. 00:09:43.18\00:09:44.98 Amen. That sounds so great. 00:09:45.01\00:09:46.48 And you mentioned Pennsylvania. 00:09:46.51\00:09:47.85 So what specific part of Pennsylvania? 00:09:47.88\00:09:49.28 This is Eastern Pennsylvania. 00:09:49.32\00:09:50.65 So we're like in between Allentown and Redding, 00:09:50.69\00:09:52.55 but an hour and a half north of Philly, but Eastern PA. 00:09:52.59\00:09:54.96 All right. Praise the Lord. 00:09:54.99\00:09:56.32 I understand we have a promotional video 00:09:56.36\00:09:57.69 that you guys would like to show us at this time. 00:09:57.73\00:09:59.06 Sure. 00:09:59.09\00:10:00.43 That kind of gives a little bit more 00:10:00.46\00:10:01.80 information about the program. 00:10:01.83\00:10:03.16 So let's go ahead and go to that video now. 00:10:03.20\00:10:04.53 It really has brought me 00:10:13.74\00:10:15.08 to a closer relationship with him 00:10:15.11\00:10:17.21 and that was just through various things, 00:10:17.25\00:10:18.91 whether it was in class or outreach 00:10:18.95\00:10:22.25 and canvassing and Bible working, 00:10:22.28\00:10:24.15 it's just really allowed me to, through all of those things, 00:10:24.19\00:10:27.16 just truly see who God is. 00:10:27.19\00:10:29.06 Young people are wrestling with knowing what the future holds. 00:10:29.09\00:10:32.39 Does God actually love and care for me? 00:10:32.43\00:10:35.56 Where am I going? 00:10:35.60\00:10:37.43 What does this life have to offer? 00:10:37.47\00:10:39.80 I believe CORE offers solutions to all of these questions 00:10:39.83\00:10:43.20 that you can actually have an intimate, 00:10:43.24\00:10:45.61 vibrant relationship with Jesus 00:10:45.64\00:10:47.84 that you can be fully known and fully loved 00:10:47.88\00:10:50.18 by the God of the universe. 00:10:50.21\00:10:51.81 I can see now how Jesus sacrificed everything for us, 00:10:51.85\00:10:57.62 how He can sympathize in every problem we have in life. 00:10:57.65\00:11:02.62 It's something I never experienced before 00:11:02.66\00:11:04.86 until I came to CORE. 00:11:04.89\00:11:06.39 It seems so impossible, 00:11:06.43\00:11:07.76 but this God that we know already, 00:11:07.80\00:11:11.97 He just gets more and more awesome. 00:11:12.00\00:11:13.94 He's worth knowing more than like we thought He was, 00:11:13.97\00:11:16.40 like, He's actually a caring and loving Father 00:11:16.44\00:11:18.74 and just give Him a chance. 00:11:18.77\00:11:21.81 Every aspect of my life has just completely changed it 00:11:21.84\00:11:25.31 from where I was to where I am today. 00:11:25.35\00:11:27.65 And I can even see the change in myself, 00:11:27.68\00:11:30.19 and I can see the change in my friends, 00:11:30.22\00:11:32.35 and I can just see the change in everybody. 00:11:32.39\00:11:33.96 And it's a positive change. 00:11:33.99\00:11:35.76 It's a good change. 00:11:35.79\00:11:37.13 It's a change that God would be proud of. 00:11:37.16\00:11:39.33 And you know, I have a friend in Jesus now 00:11:39.36\00:11:41.70 and you know, that's just been the biggest thing 00:11:41.73\00:11:44.93 that I can take away, you know, a friend in Jesus 00:11:44.97\00:11:47.20 You build off of each other and you fall down together 00:12:00.65\00:12:03.92 and everybody picks you up together. 00:12:03.95\00:12:05.92 And that's the one thing that I enjoy about CORE. 00:12:05.95\00:12:10.49 There's so much family and love here 00:12:10.53\00:12:13.50 and that there is adventures that we go on. 00:12:13.53\00:12:16.43 There is laughter and there is tears, 00:12:16.46\00:12:21.14 and there is so much more 00:12:21.17\00:12:24.11 compacted to like nine months of CORE. 00:12:24.14\00:12:27.18 It's been really nice to just talk to each other 00:12:27.21\00:12:29.48 and just really to grow together 00:12:29.51\00:12:30.95 and just seeing each other grow 00:12:30.98\00:12:32.45 and also just to really encourage each other. 00:12:32.48\00:12:34.25 To me, it's a real blueprint school where you get to learn, 00:12:34.28\00:12:38.09 you get to work hard and you get to grow. 00:12:38.12\00:12:41.29 If you're already considering it, 00:12:41.32\00:12:42.66 if you want some training 00:12:42.69\00:12:44.03 you know, some hands-on training where you can, 00:12:44.06\00:12:46.33 you know, take a break from the world, 00:12:46.36\00:12:48.23 take a break from, you know, the clutter of, 00:12:48.26\00:12:50.60 of social media and work and school 00:12:50.63\00:12:52.93 and just the chaoticness of life, 00:12:52.97\00:12:55.67 you know, come here and learn how to, 00:12:55.70\00:12:59.01 you know, bring people to Christ, how to soul win. 00:12:59.04\00:13:01.11 And, you know, you won't regret it. 00:13:01.14\00:13:02.61 You won't regret it. 00:13:02.64\00:13:03.98 It's the most beautiful thing when someone 00:13:04.01\00:13:06.21 gives their life to Christ because of you. 00:13:06.25\00:13:08.68 It's an incredible course. 00:13:08.72\00:13:10.05 It's only nine months out of the year. 00:13:10.09\00:13:11.52 And if you come here, 00:13:11.55\00:13:12.89 you'll have a once in a lifetime experience 00:13:12.92\00:13:15.29 being surrounded by individuals 00:13:15.32\00:13:18.03 who share the similarity with you 00:13:18.06\00:13:21.46 of loving God and wanting to know Him more. 00:13:21.50\00:13:23.60 Wow. That's amazing. 00:13:40.65\00:13:42.85 That was a really nice video. 00:13:42.88\00:13:44.39 So, I'm sitting down here just wondering how does something 00:13:44.42\00:13:46.96 like this get started because there's a lot I'm sure. 00:13:46.99\00:13:49.32 And we're going to talk about 00:13:49.36\00:13:50.69 what's involved in this program, 00:13:50.73\00:13:52.06 but how did CORE Evangelism get started? 00:13:52.09\00:13:53.80 So there were a people, a donor and a pastor 00:13:53.83\00:13:56.73 that had a burden to have a school of evangelism 00:13:56.77\00:13:59.03 for young adults that would saturate every teaching 00:13:59.07\00:14:02.24 with the gospel, that there wouldn't be a single class 00:14:02.27\00:14:04.67 where they wouldn't see the true character of God 00:14:04.71\00:14:07.14 and to see Jesus in every teaching, 00:14:07.18\00:14:08.71 whether it be health class or agriculture, 00:14:08.74\00:14:10.61 or just really to make sure that people are being focused 00:14:10.65\00:14:13.82 on the core of Christianity and the core of Adventism, 00:14:13.85\00:14:16.48 which is to see Jesus and the message 00:14:16.52\00:14:18.52 of Christ of righteousness in every teaching. 00:14:18.55\00:14:20.19 So that was kind of their burden. 00:14:20.22\00:14:22.52 They approached me about kind of helping them 00:14:22.56\00:14:23.89 to start the school. 00:14:23.93\00:14:25.26 We looked at different places to partner and do it. 00:14:25.29\00:14:26.86 And Gary Gibbs at the conference 00:14:26.90\00:14:28.90 of the Pennsylvania conference. 00:14:28.93\00:14:30.27 Certainly someone who loves evangelism. 00:14:30.30\00:14:31.97 And so they approached him and say, 00:14:32.00\00:14:33.34 would you be open to us, partnering 00:14:33.37\00:14:34.70 with the Pennsylvania Conference in doing there? 00:14:34.74\00:14:36.87 And so they said, yeah, let's do it. 00:14:36.91\00:14:38.81 And so three years ago I got brought in 00:14:38.84\00:14:40.84 and we didn't really have anything at that stage. 00:14:40.88\00:14:42.74 Like we had an idea, we had a donor 00:14:42.78\00:14:45.08 and we had a campus that we could have access to. 00:14:45.11\00:14:48.18 And in the span of 11 months, this amazing miracle happened 00:14:48.22\00:14:52.45 that it was just me and somehow recruitment, development, 00:14:52.49\00:14:55.92 hiring, curriculum, everything, budgeting was all done. 00:14:55.96\00:14:59.96 There wasn't any staff, it was just me. 00:15:00.00\00:15:01.56 I can't do that. 00:15:01.60\00:15:02.93 Right. 00:15:02.96\00:15:04.30 But somehow 11 months later we were running a program 00:15:04.33\00:15:05.83 and discipling students. 00:15:05.87\00:15:07.67 And it's just like, we fully believe 00:15:07.70\00:15:09.80 that this is God's school, 00:15:09.84\00:15:11.17 that we are a part of something that's bigger than ourselves. 00:15:11.21\00:15:13.88 Absolutely. 00:15:13.91\00:15:15.24 And so, because I know what I'm capable of and it's not that, 00:15:15.28\00:15:18.61 but I... In traveling, 00:15:18.65\00:15:20.52 I've been doing a lot of traveling ministry for years, 00:15:20.55\00:15:22.25 particularly to this demographic, 00:15:22.28\00:15:23.62 the 18 to 35ish age range, 00:15:23.65\00:15:25.45 whether it be actually even 15 to 35, 00:15:25.49\00:15:27.92 high schools have been like 31 of our academies 00:15:27.96\00:15:30.33 and our college and youth conferences. 00:15:30.36\00:15:31.89 And in my travels, I saw a lot of similar threads 00:15:31.93\00:15:35.16 that I felt were underdressed with our young people. 00:15:35.20\00:15:38.97 You know, we're talking about prophecy, 00:15:39.00\00:15:40.44 we're talking about fundamental beliefs in the sanctuary, 00:15:40.47\00:15:42.94 which we have to talk about. 00:15:42.97\00:15:44.31 Absolutely. 00:15:44.34\00:15:45.67 And they need to be rooted in that, 00:15:45.71\00:15:47.04 but young people are struggling with identity issues. 00:15:47.08\00:15:48.41 They're struggling with mental health challenges. 00:15:48.44\00:15:49.78 They're struggling with other things like this. 00:15:49.81\00:15:51.15 I thought that if we're going to develop a program, 00:15:51.18\00:15:53.45 it needs to be holistic in nature. 00:15:53.48\00:15:54.82 Absolutely. 00:15:54.85\00:15:56.18 Which is one of the reasons why it's nine months 00:15:56.22\00:15:58.05 was because we wanted to give these students 00:15:58.09\00:16:00.29 the proper amount of time to learn their story, 00:16:00.32\00:16:02.96 to process their story, to find healing in their journey 00:16:02.99\00:16:05.73 and to get a solid well-rounded 00:16:05.76\00:16:07.86 biblical Adventist education. 00:16:07.90\00:16:10.03 So that was kind of our burden. 00:16:10.07\00:16:11.40 That was our conviction, and it works. 00:16:11.43\00:16:13.64 That's been the amazing thing 00:16:13.67\00:16:15.00 is you've heard in the stories in that video, like, 00:16:15.04\00:16:16.87 it literally, when we say it's a life transforming experience, 00:16:16.91\00:16:19.64 that's not just like a tagline for the sake of like marketing, 00:16:19.67\00:16:22.88 that's literally what's happening here. 00:16:22.91\00:16:24.25 Absolutely. 00:16:24.28\00:16:25.61 And so that, that's what excites us 00:16:25.65\00:16:26.98 to be involved in something like this 00:16:27.02\00:16:28.52 is to be able to, through the means of training them 00:16:28.55\00:16:31.12 in ministry and having classes, 00:16:31.15\00:16:32.79 and having intensives on mental health and health 00:16:32.82\00:16:35.56 and agriculture and everything else. 00:16:35.59\00:16:37.49 The big picture idea was to give them a well-rounded 00:16:37.53\00:16:40.26 holistic picture what the gospel can do for them 00:16:40.30\00:16:43.13 and how they can change the world, 00:16:43.16\00:16:44.50 because even if they aren't personally 00:16:44.53\00:16:46.47 struggling with mental health challenges, 00:16:46.50\00:16:47.94 the people that they minister to, 00:16:47.97\00:16:49.57 there's a very high likelihood that they will. 00:16:49.60\00:16:51.81 And to just tell people to pray harder 00:16:51.84\00:16:53.71 or they need more faith doesn't fix the problem. 00:16:53.74\00:16:56.14 It increases the problem. 00:16:56.18\00:16:57.81 So to teach them how to tactfully work 00:16:57.85\00:16:59.71 through their own story, find healing and also help others. 00:16:59.75\00:17:03.18 That was a really important thing for us. 00:17:03.22\00:17:05.39 So that was kind of the conviction 00:17:05.42\00:17:07.62 and the burden behind how everything would be designed. 00:17:07.66\00:17:10.29 So had the schedules designed, the length of time the classes, 00:17:10.33\00:17:14.20 the topics that we cover, who teaches, 00:17:14.23\00:17:16.53 all had that in mind, they have to see Jesus. 00:17:16.56\00:17:19.10 And there has to be more than just a transfer, 00:17:19.13\00:17:21.07 like a transfer of information 00:17:21.10\00:17:22.80 like this should transform them. 00:17:22.84\00:17:24.34 Absolutely. 00:17:24.37\00:17:25.71 Not just give them skills to teach and do ministry, 00:17:25.74\00:17:28.51 which they get a substantial education that, 00:17:28.54\00:17:30.55 but also to transform them as individuals. 00:17:30.58\00:17:32.28 Absolutely. 00:17:32.31\00:17:33.65 You know, everything you're saying there, 00:17:33.68\00:17:35.02 I heard that word transformed so many times 00:17:35.05\00:17:36.85 and that's important because we have a lot of people 00:17:36.89\00:17:38.89 who know information, they know about Christ. 00:17:38.92\00:17:41.19 They know a lot of information about 00:17:41.22\00:17:42.76 the truths that we believe, 00:17:42.79\00:17:44.13 but yet they themselves are not maybe converted 00:17:44.16\00:17:46.26 or transformed by that gospel. 00:17:46.29\00:17:47.63 So that's just powerful, my brother. 00:17:47.66\00:17:49.50 So I also heard you say a couple of times, 00:17:49.53\00:17:51.77 18 to 35, 15 to 35. 00:17:51.80\00:17:54.54 So there's probably someone watching right now 00:17:54.57\00:17:56.30 that may not fit in maybe that range that says, 00:17:56.34\00:17:59.61 man, I really want to go to this school. 00:17:59.64\00:18:01.61 So maybe talk a little bit more about, 00:18:01.64\00:18:03.18 is it just within that range or is there a, 00:18:03.21\00:18:05.48 maybe an exception from time to time about, 00:18:05.51\00:18:08.05 you know, with outside of those? 00:18:08.08\00:18:09.52 Yeah. That's a great question. 00:18:09.55\00:18:10.89 So the basic design of the program 00:18:10.92\00:18:12.49 was for 18 to 35 year olds. 00:18:12.52\00:18:14.02 You have to have finished high school 00:18:14.06\00:18:15.39 that's kind of our prerequisite, 00:18:15.42\00:18:16.76 but if you're in a situation where you would like 00:18:16.79\00:18:18.79 to take some time to deepen your relationship with Christ, 00:18:18.83\00:18:22.20 there's a few options we have, 00:18:22.23\00:18:23.57 one, CORE online will be available. 00:18:23.60\00:18:25.60 The goal is by January 1, 2022. 00:18:25.63\00:18:28.30 So all of our classes that we filmed in session, 00:18:28.34\00:18:30.54 people can take online. 00:18:30.57\00:18:31.91 So that's an option we have. 00:18:31.94\00:18:33.41 The other option we have 00:18:33.44\00:18:34.78 is for the second semester of CORE, 00:18:34.81\00:18:36.14 we kind of call it track two. 00:18:36.18\00:18:37.71 Someone who's maybe in a more mature age range 00:18:37.75\00:18:40.85 that wants to take five months of their life. 00:18:40.88\00:18:42.68 And they're living in a dorm, 00:18:42.72\00:18:44.05 they're eating in the cafeteria, 00:18:44.09\00:18:45.42 just like our students do. 00:18:45.45\00:18:46.79 They're doing five months of Bible work. 00:18:46.82\00:18:48.29 They're getting a majority of our theology classes. 00:18:48.32\00:18:50.63 That's another option. 00:18:50.66\00:18:51.99 So let's say that you're in your 40s 00:18:52.03\00:18:53.73 or, you know, in your 50s or something. 00:18:53.76\00:18:55.60 And you're open to living in a missionary environment 00:18:55.63\00:18:58.17 and being trained and taking those five months 00:18:58.20\00:19:00.54 to really get a solid training, to be able to do Bible work 00:19:00.57\00:19:03.61 at your local church and things like that, 00:19:03.64\00:19:05.47 then we can totally have an option for that as well. 00:19:05.51\00:19:08.21 So we expanded our borders for the second semester. 00:19:08.24\00:19:10.95 So you wouldn't get the canvassing in first semester 00:19:10.98\00:19:13.01 or the mission trip in the first semester, 00:19:13.05\00:19:15.25 but you would at least get the Bible work portion 00:19:15.28\00:19:17.32 and a majority of our theology. 00:19:17.35\00:19:18.99 We have a few prerequisites, 00:19:19.02\00:19:20.36 but we would send those to them, 00:19:20.39\00:19:21.72 watch a few classes that you wouldn't get 00:19:21.76\00:19:23.29 that you would need to have. 00:19:23.32\00:19:24.66 We would send them to them beforehand. 00:19:24.69\00:19:26.03 Amen. That's awesome. 00:19:26.06\00:19:27.40 Praise the Lord. 00:19:27.43\00:19:28.76 So I'm thinking as we're, 00:19:28.80\00:19:30.13 as you're going through all these details, 00:19:30.17\00:19:31.50 you've kind of already presented a few, 00:19:31.53\00:19:32.87 but just want to kind of hone in on 00:19:32.90\00:19:34.54 maybe the differences between CORE Evangelism 00:19:34.57\00:19:38.84 and some of these other schools of evangelism, 00:19:38.87\00:19:41.34 I'm thinking of ARISE, which is phenomenal. 00:19:41.38\00:19:43.85 AFCO, I'm an AFCO graduate, 00:19:43.88\00:19:45.41 Amazing Facts Center of Evangelism. 00:19:45.45\00:19:47.12 So what sets CORE Evangelism apart 00:19:47.15\00:19:50.39 as far as the difference between 00:19:50.42\00:19:51.92 maybe what you guys offer and what the others offer? 00:19:51.95\00:19:54.82 Absolutely. I'm an ARISE graduate, so, yeah. 00:19:54.86\00:19:56.96 And so we've and have taught at ARISE 00:19:56.99\00:19:59.03 and been to different schools. 00:19:59.06\00:20:00.40 And we're, we weren't trying to do 00:20:00.43\00:20:02.46 what other people are doing. 00:20:02.50\00:20:03.83 We were trying to kind of design a program 00:20:03.87\00:20:05.57 from the ground up. 00:20:05.60\00:20:06.97 So this isn't, because some of those people 00:20:07.00\00:20:08.74 kind of ask questions like, which is better, which is, 00:20:08.77\00:20:10.87 it's really matter of what you're looking for, right? 00:20:10.91\00:20:12.97 If you're just looking for Bible work training, 00:20:13.01\00:20:15.04 you're looking just to be discipled. 00:20:15.08\00:20:16.41 If you want to go to SOULS West, 00:20:16.44\00:20:17.78 because you're looking for literature evangelism training, 00:20:17.81\00:20:19.85 it depends on what you're looking for. 00:20:19.88\00:20:21.28 What we bring to the table is a holistic education 00:20:21.32\00:20:24.25 where we're working with a whole person. 00:20:24.29\00:20:25.82 They're getting health training, 00:20:25.85\00:20:27.76 significant training in like medical missionary work. 00:20:27.79\00:20:30.29 We have a full semester of canvassing 00:20:30.33\00:20:32.29 literature evangelism work, 00:20:32.33\00:20:34.16 which also helps them to pay down some of their tuition, 00:20:34.20\00:20:36.36 half of what they make goes towards their tuition. 00:20:36.40\00:20:38.57 And they're learning how to do door-to-door literature work 00:20:38.60\00:20:40.44 and doing in public places. 00:20:40.47\00:20:42.14 Then we have a two week foreign mission trip 00:20:42.17\00:20:44.04 that's built in as part of the curriculum. 00:20:44.07\00:20:45.71 So we're doing evangelism. 00:20:45.74\00:20:47.11 The intention is to be overseas in the midst of pandemic, 00:20:47.14\00:20:49.64 that's kind of slowed us down. 00:20:49.68\00:20:51.18 But what we did last year was we actually ministered 00:20:51.21\00:20:53.15 to refugees in Houston, Texas. 00:20:53.18\00:20:54.72 So Afghani refugees, and Chinese refugees, 00:20:54.75\00:20:57.52 and people from other communities 00:20:57.55\00:21:00.12 who and other places around the world 00:21:00.16\00:21:01.86 who were coming to the States seeking refuge 00:21:01.89\00:21:04.33 or international college students. 00:21:04.36\00:21:05.79 So teaching them how to do cross-cultural witnessing 00:21:05.83\00:21:08.20 even if we couldn't travel overseas. 00:21:08.23\00:21:10.13 But the first year we actually went to Cuba. 00:21:10.17\00:21:12.10 In fact, we've had a slide for this, I believe 00:21:12.13\00:21:13.94 from the mission trip where we went to Cuba 00:21:13.97\00:21:15.80 and did two weeks of evangelism. 00:21:15.84\00:21:18.84 There were children's programs, which is, 00:21:18.87\00:21:20.84 I think with the pictures going to be, 00:21:20.88\00:21:22.21 it's just a picture of someone presenting to children. 00:21:22.24\00:21:24.45 And it was an amazing experience, but because of, 00:21:24.48\00:21:26.68 you know, political boundaries now and COVID, and other stuff, 00:21:26.72\00:21:30.02 it's made it difficult to be there, 00:21:30.05\00:21:31.39 but it was such an amazing experience to see that. 00:21:31.42\00:21:33.32 There we go, so we've got 00:21:33.36\00:21:34.69 some of our kids teaching a bunch of Cuban children 00:21:34.72\00:21:37.59 through the means of interpreters. 00:21:37.63\00:21:38.96 It was such a rich blessing. 00:21:38.99\00:21:40.33 We want to go back so bad and I hope that can be afforded 00:21:40.36\00:21:43.10 once borders open and COVID and politics and other stuff. 00:21:43.13\00:21:46.74 But in the meantime, for sure, 00:21:46.77\00:21:48.90 they're involved in cross-cultural witnessing 00:21:48.94\00:21:51.07 in some form or fashion where we immerse them 00:21:51.11\00:21:52.91 into different culture for two weeks, 00:21:52.94\00:21:54.84 just to see what the needs are in the world out there. 00:21:54.88\00:21:56.58 Absolutely. 00:21:56.61\00:21:57.95 And even how to witness to people 00:21:57.98\00:21:59.31 of those cultures here. 00:21:59.35\00:22:00.68 And so after the mission trip and our Christmas break, 00:22:00.72\00:22:04.19 then we have a Bible work practicum for five months 00:22:04.22\00:22:07.36 where they're, then they've worked with a local church 00:22:07.39\00:22:09.32 for nine full months, the whole length of the program. 00:22:09.36\00:22:11.79 They're working within a local church context. 00:22:11.83\00:22:13.83 So they're teaching Sabbath school, 00:22:13.86\00:22:15.50 they're doing song service. 00:22:15.53\00:22:16.87 They're learning how to take what they're learning in class. 00:22:16.90\00:22:19.03 And they're applying it in a local context the same time. 00:22:19.07\00:22:21.77 So the community that they canvas in 00:22:21.80\00:22:23.84 is the same community they Bible work in. 00:22:23.87\00:22:25.37 It's the same community they go to church in. 00:22:25.41\00:22:27.38 So they're learning what it means to integrate 00:22:27.41\00:22:29.81 and invest into community long term. 00:22:29.84\00:22:31.91 So that's kind of what we bring to the table 00:22:31.95\00:22:33.35 that may be different. 00:22:33.38\00:22:34.72 There's some work study options through canvassing, 00:22:34.75\00:22:36.82 Bible work, foreign missions and what it's like to disciple 00:22:36.85\00:22:41.46 in a local church context long term. 00:22:41.49\00:22:43.79 And then we have an evangelistic series 00:22:43.83\00:22:45.16 in the fall. 00:22:45.19\00:22:46.53 And so generally our presenters or I'm doing the series, 00:22:46.56\00:22:49.00 but the students are doing all the boots and the groundwork, 00:22:49.03\00:22:51.23 giving studies, inviting people, 00:22:51.27\00:22:53.13 doing the health nuggets, giving the song, 00:22:53.17\00:22:54.77 service, special music, things like that. 00:22:54.80\00:22:57.01 Wow. That's amazing. 00:22:57.04\00:22:58.57 So before I get to you guys in just a moment, 00:22:58.61\00:23:00.51 I'm going to come right back to you for a moment. 00:23:00.54\00:23:02.21 And then I'm going to ask you guys some questions here, 00:23:02.24\00:23:04.38 because I'm interested in your feedback. 00:23:04.41\00:23:06.35 So someone comes to CORE Evangelism, 00:23:06.38\00:23:09.78 they're student there. 00:23:09.82\00:23:11.15 What is, what are they going to experience 00:23:11.19\00:23:12.52 while they're there? 00:23:12.55\00:23:13.89 Let's get into a little bit more detail about 00:23:13.92\00:23:15.26 what they're going to learn, 00:23:15.29\00:23:16.62 what they're going to experience 00:23:16.66\00:23:17.99 once they're a part of the program and on campus? 00:23:18.03\00:23:19.36 For sure. 00:23:19.39\00:23:20.73 So we've got like an orientation week 00:23:20.76\00:23:22.10 that deals with a lot of heart issues 00:23:22.13\00:23:23.47 to set them up to succeed for the week, 00:23:23.50\00:23:24.83 how to have devotions, how to have a prayer life, 00:23:24.87\00:23:26.80 what to do when you fall and fail in ministry? 00:23:26.84\00:23:28.90 Like how do I work through that when I mess up, 00:23:28.94\00:23:30.97 when things happen, thoughts of condemnation and shame, 00:23:31.01\00:23:34.14 and guilt and conviction, how to sort through 00:23:34.18\00:23:36.18 what comes from God, what doesn't. 00:23:36.21\00:23:37.95 A lot of times students feel like 00:23:37.98\00:23:39.31 I'm not worthy of being here. 00:23:39.35\00:23:40.68 And so, kind of focusing on that. 00:23:40.72\00:23:42.48 We've got a health intensive 00:23:42.52\00:23:44.75 and learning how to live a healthy lifestyle 00:23:44.79\00:23:46.49 that will set them up to succeed. 00:23:46.52\00:23:48.09 And then we have an intensive on mental health 00:23:48.12\00:23:50.13 really early on in spiritual healing with Paul Coniff 00:23:50.16\00:23:52.69 that really sets them up to learn 00:23:52.73\00:23:54.43 what their story is, how Jesus can connect with their story 00:23:54.46\00:23:57.13 and how to find healing and freedom. 00:23:57.17\00:23:59.17 And then they do a three week canvassing blitz. 00:23:59.20\00:24:01.37 And so, they're getting a lot of hands-on experience 00:24:01.40\00:24:03.71 and what it's like to do literature work, 00:24:03.74\00:24:05.37 hone down their fundamentals 00:24:05.41\00:24:06.74 because once the regular schedule starts, 00:24:06.78\00:24:08.81 they've been outreach three days a week 00:24:08.84\00:24:10.28 and then they do some work on campus. 00:24:10.31\00:24:12.11 So they either work on the farm or in the cafeteria. 00:24:12.15\00:24:14.62 They may help certain departments of the academy. 00:24:14.65\00:24:16.28 If they have certain skill sets that they've done 00:24:16.32\00:24:17.79 teaching before or something like that. 00:24:17.82\00:24:20.56 And Blue Mountain Academy has a certified organic farm. 00:24:20.59\00:24:23.29 So they're learning how to actually do agriculture. 00:24:23.32\00:24:25.83 John Dysinger from Bountiful Blessings Farm 00:24:25.86\00:24:27.76 teaches for a full week on agriculture, the ABCs, 00:24:27.80\00:24:30.73 how to do it, how to get involved. 00:24:30.77\00:24:32.67 So you're learning how to have a work ethic, 00:24:32.70\00:24:34.20 how to do time management. 00:24:34.24\00:24:36.07 And that's pretty much the first semester. 00:24:36.10\00:24:37.44 Then we start with theology. 00:24:37.47\00:24:38.81 So the three angels' messages and the fundamental beliefs 00:24:38.84\00:24:42.04 and then we go into the next semester 00:24:42.08\00:24:44.35 and that's where a lot of other theology happens, 00:24:44.38\00:24:46.05 Daniel, Revelation, apologetics, 00:24:46.08\00:24:48.58 how to preach, Christian service. 00:24:48.62\00:24:51.35 Gary Gibbs teaches on the winsome witnessing content. 00:24:51.39\00:24:54.32 David Asscherick teaching on apologetics 00:24:54.36\00:24:55.96 Mark Finley teaches on preaching. 00:24:55.99\00:24:58.73 Nathan Renner teaches on how to study the Bible 00:24:58.76\00:25:00.70 and how we got the Bible, 00:25:00.73\00:25:02.06 Chad and Fadia Kreuzer on relationships. 00:25:02.10\00:25:03.97 So there's practical Christianity. 00:25:04.00\00:25:06.77 What relationships are about marriage and family? 00:25:06.80\00:25:09.90 Plus we have stuff on time management, 00:25:09.94\00:25:11.77 conflict resolution, mental health intensives. 00:25:11.81\00:25:14.71 So that's, they're getting a full, 00:25:14.74\00:25:17.11 complete Adventist education, 00:25:17.15\00:25:18.71 the sanctuary public evangelism. 00:25:18.75\00:25:21.58 We give them the whole thing, but it's measured. 00:25:21.62\00:25:24.62 So it's not like you're drinking from fire hose. 00:25:24.65\00:25:26.72 Maybe 12 hours of class a week, 00:25:26.76\00:25:28.59 10 hours of work a week and about 15 hours of outreach. 00:25:28.62\00:25:31.53 So it's spread out. 00:25:31.56\00:25:32.89 It's not the same thing all day, every day, 00:25:32.93\00:25:34.56 which gives them variety, 00:25:34.60\00:25:35.93 which makes it easier to absorb what they're learning, 00:25:35.96\00:25:37.93 and gives them healthy exertion outside and so forth. 00:25:37.97\00:25:40.50 That's amazing. 00:25:40.54\00:25:41.87 Plus there's a day off, like a total complete day off. 00:25:41.90\00:25:44.04 So it's not just like, go, go, go, go, go. 00:25:44.07\00:25:46.11 Fridays are completely off for them, 00:25:46.14\00:25:47.98 so they can go hiking. 00:25:48.01\00:25:49.34 Sabbath afternoons are largely light, 00:25:49.38\00:25:51.48 so they can go hiking, hang out. 00:25:51.51\00:25:52.88 Sure. 00:25:52.91\00:25:54.25 Stuff like that. Wow. 00:25:54.28\00:25:55.62 That seems like such a blessing, 00:25:55.65\00:25:56.99 but I'm going to turn here now to James and Hannah. 00:25:57.02\00:25:59.19 Hannah, let's start with you. 00:25:59.22\00:26:00.56 You were an intern for CORE Evangelism. 00:26:00.59\00:26:03.99 Give us kind of your feedback on your experience there 00:26:04.03\00:26:06.86 and anything that you would like to share with us? 00:26:06.90\00:26:09.50 Okay. 00:26:09.53\00:26:11.17 So to me, CORE answers not just the what 00:26:11.20\00:26:16.17 of Christianity, but the so what. 00:26:16.20\00:26:19.24 Okay. All right. 00:26:19.27\00:26:21.24 A lot of times I've heard the what, 00:26:21.28\00:26:24.48 the dos, the don'ts, the facts. 00:26:24.51\00:26:28.05 And growing up an Adventist, I could tell you all of that. 00:26:28.08\00:26:33.66 But what did it do for me? 00:26:33.69\00:26:35.79 Honestly, not that much. 00:26:35.82\00:26:38.86 And so I've always kind of struggled a little bit, 00:26:38.89\00:26:42.03 even with interpersonal relationships 00:26:42.06\00:26:44.73 and God is some kind of nebulous concept. 00:26:44.77\00:26:47.80 I don't see Him. 00:26:47.84\00:26:49.64 And sometimes it's really hard to understand that. 00:26:49.67\00:26:53.41 And so, CORE makes Christianity practical, something I can do, 00:26:53.44\00:26:58.58 not just the list of do's and don'ts 00:26:58.61\00:27:00.25 or nebulous concepts. 00:27:00.28\00:27:02.42 So it makes the experience of Christianity 00:27:02.45\00:27:03.89 come alive for you? 00:27:03.92\00:27:05.25 Right. 00:27:05.29\00:27:06.62 So you were the intern there. 00:27:06.65\00:27:07.99 So what specifically did you do while you were there? 00:27:08.02\00:27:09.36 What I did is I filmed the classes. 00:27:09.39\00:27:13.29 I was responsible for setting up the cameras, 00:27:13.33\00:27:16.16 running the switcher, editing everything afterwards, 00:27:16.20\00:27:20.70 and basically kind of setting it up, 00:27:20.74\00:27:23.27 helping them get it ready for CORE Online. 00:27:23.30\00:27:26.17 To be honest, I didn't want to come to CORE. 00:27:26.21\00:27:28.24 I wasn't planning on coming to CORE, 00:27:28.28\00:27:30.45 but I am so glad that God grabbed me and took me to CORE. 00:27:30.48\00:27:34.95 Amen. Praise the Lord. 00:27:34.98\00:27:36.32 Sometimes we go places 00:27:36.35\00:27:37.69 where we don't think we'll end up, right? 00:27:37.72\00:27:39.05 And God's like, well, you know, He throws a little curve ball 00:27:39.09\00:27:41.82 at us and ends up at extremely incredible blessing in the end, 00:27:41.86\00:27:45.49 so it sounds like it was a blessing to you? 00:27:45.53\00:27:47.00 Absolutely. 00:27:47.03\00:27:48.36 Praise the Lord. 00:27:48.40\00:27:49.73 An 11th hour labor for her story. 00:27:49.76\00:27:51.40 We make kind of a last minute decision. 00:27:51.43\00:27:52.90 We really want to film our sessions, 00:27:52.93\00:27:54.40 our classes in session this year, 00:27:54.44\00:27:56.27 but we need someone who has experience 00:27:56.30\00:27:57.77 in filming and editing. 00:27:57.81\00:27:59.14 And I knew Hannah because 00:27:59.17\00:28:00.51 I used to work next door to here. 00:28:00.54\00:28:02.11 And she was the perfect fit. 00:28:02.14\00:28:03.48 She had everything we needed, 00:28:03.51\00:28:04.88 but she wasn't just sitting behind a camera, like 00:28:04.91\00:28:07.38 when we would have classes 00:28:07.42\00:28:08.75 or when we would have certain experiences, 00:28:08.78\00:28:10.15 like she was being convicted, 00:28:10.19\00:28:11.69 she was testifying to what God was doing in her life. 00:28:11.72\00:28:13.82 And she was inspiring our students. 00:28:13.86\00:28:15.72 And how, you know, she's just the intern 00:28:15.76\00:28:17.59 some people may think, 00:28:17.63\00:28:18.96 you know, like she's just here to push buttons 00:28:18.99\00:28:20.33 and run cameras, but she was a student in many fashions 00:28:20.36\00:28:23.80 and it changed her life. 00:28:23.83\00:28:25.17 Like, you know, Hannah, you were baptized this year. 00:28:25.20\00:28:26.74 Right. 00:28:26.77\00:28:28.10 We've got a picture of that actually 00:28:28.14\00:28:29.47 during the evangelistic series. 00:28:29.50\00:28:30.84 We had this touching conversation 00:28:30.87\00:28:32.21 on the way home one day when we had the baptism topic 00:28:32.24\00:28:34.44 in the evangelistic series as I was preaching, 00:28:34.48\00:28:36.38 and Hannah's life was touched and she got baptized. 00:28:36.41\00:28:39.48 It was just such a blessing that we didn't push or prod, 00:28:39.51\00:28:43.69 but just the Spirit of God was working. 00:28:43.72\00:28:45.29 And we had a conversation. 00:28:45.32\00:28:46.65 It was just so special to see someone that I knew 00:28:46.69\00:28:49.36 and loved and cared about for before she came 00:28:49.39\00:28:52.09 and to be able to take her through the waters of baptism, 00:28:52.13\00:28:54.30 such a blessing. 00:28:54.33\00:28:55.66 So I'm guessing that that at 3ABN background 00:28:55.70\00:28:58.57 and media helped you out a little bit there? 00:28:58.60\00:29:01.27 That did too. 00:29:01.30\00:29:02.64 Actually I learned most of my media 00:29:02.67\00:29:04.17 and stuff with Wayne Atwood up in Canada. 00:29:04.21\00:29:06.51 Got you. Okay. 00:29:06.54\00:29:07.88 Because you travel a lot, right? 00:29:07.91\00:29:09.24 I do. 00:29:09.28\00:29:10.61 I took an internship up there in Canada 00:29:10.65\00:29:11.98 to learn the media stuff, which was really useful, 00:29:12.01\00:29:13.95 actually helping with Dee. 00:29:13.98\00:29:15.88 That's awesome. Praise the Lord. 00:29:15.92\00:29:17.62 Well, that's great to hear. 00:29:17.65\00:29:18.99 We'll come back to you in just a moment. 00:29:19.02\00:29:20.36 But James, brother, you went, you actually 00:29:20.39\00:29:22.02 went through this nine month program. 00:29:22.06\00:29:24.63 And so tell us a little bit about your thoughts, 00:29:24.66\00:29:27.26 your experiences while you were there? 00:29:27.30\00:29:28.63 Yeah. 00:29:28.66\00:29:30.00 First of all, it's, I think 00:29:30.03\00:29:31.37 it's one of the most well-rounded programs 00:29:31.40\00:29:32.73 and things in general that I've ever seen in my life. 00:29:32.77\00:29:36.30 You talk about holistic healing and true education 00:29:36.34\00:29:40.68 and it's got it all. 00:29:40.71\00:29:42.04 It teaches you like Hannah was saying in a practical setting, 00:29:42.08\00:29:46.11 how to have success in your Christian walks. 00:29:46.15\00:29:48.65 Because I think a lot of us are young individuals 00:29:48.68\00:29:52.45 who are decided to seek in the Lord, 00:29:52.49\00:29:55.42 and we just don't know how to do it 00:29:55.46\00:29:56.86 or what that looks like. 00:29:56.89\00:29:58.33 You know, we're convicted in our hearts 00:29:58.36\00:30:00.30 that we've had an encounter with Christ 00:30:00.33\00:30:03.20 in our times of need. 00:30:03.23\00:30:04.67 And if we want to leave the world 00:30:04.70\00:30:06.33 behind and follow Him, but how do we do it? 00:30:06.37\00:30:09.70 And what does that mean for us? 00:30:09.74\00:30:11.57 And CORE was just a great place for us 00:30:11.61\00:30:13.58 to be in a safe environment where we can thrive. 00:30:13.61\00:30:17.15 And we had staff, we had friends, we had teachers, 00:30:17.18\00:30:22.18 we even had Blue Mountain Academy and our, 00:30:22.22\00:30:25.02 even our local churches around us supporting us 00:30:25.05\00:30:29.39 in a great way that really allowed us 00:30:29.42\00:30:32.13 to be just truly who we were, where we came from 00:30:32.16\00:30:36.87 and just start from ground zero and go up, you know? 00:30:36.90\00:30:41.34 Absolutely. 00:30:41.37\00:30:42.70 Even if that meant breaking this down a little bit, 00:30:42.74\00:30:45.24 figuring some things out, but... 00:30:45.27\00:30:47.31 Right, right. 00:30:47.34\00:30:48.68 So what was your... 00:30:48.71\00:30:50.05 What was your absolute favorite thing 00:30:50.08\00:30:51.41 about the entire program? 00:30:51.45\00:30:52.78 The thing that you took away the most, 00:30:52.81\00:30:54.15 that really impacted you? 00:30:54.18\00:30:55.82 Yeah. 00:30:55.85\00:30:57.19 So I would just say 00:30:57.22\00:31:00.76 being able to interact with the teachers there at CORE. 00:31:00.79\00:31:06.29 That's amazing. Yeah. 00:31:06.33\00:31:08.23 It wasn't just the all nine months internship to us. 00:31:08.26\00:31:13.67 But we did get to have Dee for a few of those weeks 00:31:13.70\00:31:16.67 and it was some life-changing powerful stuff. 00:31:16.71\00:31:20.38 And I know his stuff is on AudioVerse talks 00:31:20.41\00:31:23.01 about righteousness by faith. 00:31:23.04\00:31:24.38 Right. 00:31:24.41\00:31:25.75 And you get to learn about that while you were there? 00:31:25.78\00:31:27.12 Yeah. 00:31:27.15\00:31:28.48 Did you have a... Did you come away 00:31:28.52\00:31:29.85 with a broader understanding 00:31:29.88\00:31:31.22 of what righteousness by faith 00:31:31.25\00:31:32.59 is because we hear that language 00:31:32.62\00:31:33.96 thrown around a lot in our church 00:31:33.99\00:31:35.32 and a lot of people don't fully understand 00:31:35.36\00:31:36.69 what it means to experience righteousness by faith? 00:31:36.73\00:31:39.49 Did you come away with a better understanding? 00:31:39.53\00:31:41.33 Absolutely. Definitely. 00:31:41.36\00:31:43.10 Amen. Yeah. 00:31:43.13\00:31:44.47 We were just talking about that in the drive down here 00:31:44.50\00:31:45.83 that like the faith of Jesus and what it can do for people. 00:31:45.87\00:31:48.70 So that was a big component to us. 00:31:48.74\00:31:50.77 Like if they don't see, like, if someone doesn't see Jesus 00:31:50.81\00:31:53.31 in one of our classes, they're not coming back, 00:31:53.34\00:31:55.44 they won't teach here anymore. 00:31:55.48\00:31:56.81 Like, it's that important for them to see 00:31:56.85\00:31:58.65 and how that applies in a practical sense, so. 00:31:58.68\00:32:00.68 Praise the Lord. 00:32:00.72\00:32:02.05 It was always Jesus first. 00:32:02.08\00:32:03.42 And I grew up Christian myself in a Christian home 00:32:03.45\00:32:06.99 and I didn't stray too far away from it 00:32:07.02\00:32:09.72 for the majority of my life, 00:32:09.76\00:32:11.13 but to actually dive into the text and the scripture 00:32:11.16\00:32:14.53 and to see Jesus practically through the teachers, 00:32:14.56\00:32:18.80 as I was mentioning before as somebody 00:32:18.83\00:32:21.47 who was wanting to seek the Lord, 00:32:21.50\00:32:23.04 I didn't know how to do it or what that might look for. 00:32:23.07\00:32:25.91 Look like for myself and for my friends around me 00:32:25.94\00:32:29.11 and being able to come across 00:32:29.14\00:32:31.15 and interact with the teachers and see how, 00:32:31.18\00:32:34.92 they are just human, you know, just like us, 00:32:34.95\00:32:36.95 regular people who were along the way figuring it out 00:32:36.99\00:32:40.86 as they were going and how God used them 00:32:40.89\00:32:43.43 and blessed them in a way where 00:32:43.46\00:32:45.89 they could do ministry just by being themselves, you know? 00:32:45.93\00:32:50.00 And it gave me something to look forward to. 00:32:50.03\00:32:53.13 And so I think that was one of my biggest takeaways at CORE 00:32:53.17\00:32:55.90 Amen. Praise, the Lord. 00:32:55.94\00:32:58.24 So, Hannah, I have to ask you the same question 00:32:58.27\00:32:59.81 because even though you were back there filming 00:32:59.84\00:33:01.58 and doing kind of all the media related stuff, 00:33:01.61\00:33:04.68 what really stuck out to you about this program 00:33:04.71\00:33:06.82 that you took away like, wow, this is the one thing 00:33:06.85\00:33:09.22 that really affected you the most positively? 00:33:09.25\00:33:11.52 Yeah. I want to capitalize on two things. 00:33:11.55\00:33:13.86 James said the safe environment 00:33:13.89\00:33:18.79 and also making Christianity a real. 00:33:18.83\00:33:21.66 Amen. 00:33:21.70\00:33:23.10 CORE is a safe environment for you 00:33:23.13\00:33:25.73 to spread your wings a bit. 00:33:25.77\00:33:29.60 And if you mess up or you do something you shouldn't do, 00:33:29.64\00:33:32.87 the staff aren't going to get mad at you and expel you. 00:33:32.91\00:33:36.75 They'll sit down with you. 00:33:36.78\00:33:38.11 They'll talk to you. 00:33:38.15\00:33:39.48 They're not going to come across as judging you 00:33:39.51\00:33:42.15 one strike and you're out. 00:33:42.18\00:33:45.62 That's really nice because you don't have to be afraid 00:33:45.65\00:33:48.56 of trying and messing up. 00:33:48.59\00:33:50.99 In fact, like, if you don't try and you don't make mistakes, 00:33:51.03\00:33:54.36 well, if you don't make mistakes, 00:33:54.40\00:33:55.73 you're not even trying. 00:33:55.76\00:33:57.20 How's he going to learn? 00:33:57.23\00:33:58.83 And secondly, that making Christianity real. 00:33:58.87\00:34:03.14 I also grew up in the church, 00:34:03.17\00:34:05.94 my family from way back was in the church. 00:34:05.97\00:34:08.74 And so, you know, it's kind of habit 00:34:08.78\00:34:10.81 what you're raised with, but they say, 00:34:10.85\00:34:13.15 God has no grandchildren. 00:34:13.18\00:34:15.62 So it's got to be your personal experience. 00:34:15.65\00:34:18.59 And sometimes when it's just a habit, 00:34:18.62\00:34:21.16 it becomes really mundane, routine, boring. 00:34:21.19\00:34:24.83 You just kind of going through the motions, 00:34:24.86\00:34:26.59 but going to CORE brought that experience alive? 00:34:26.63\00:34:28.56 Yeah. 00:34:28.60\00:34:29.93 You learn how to do it for yourself 00:34:29.96\00:34:31.70 and make it real to yourself. 00:34:31.73\00:34:33.60 And Christ becomes real to you, right? 00:34:33.64\00:34:35.74 Exactly. 00:34:35.77\00:34:37.34 Amen. Praise the Lord. 00:34:37.37\00:34:38.94 So I have to just ask this one last question to James. 00:34:38.97\00:34:41.21 And by the way, if you guys feel free 00:34:41.24\00:34:42.58 to chime in on anything 00:34:42.61\00:34:44.31 that we want to talk about in the remaining time, 00:34:44.35\00:34:46.31 but while you're going through this program as a student, 00:34:46.35\00:34:49.78 I'm listening to everything, you've listed off 00:34:49.82\00:34:51.82 that we're doing this, we're doing this. 00:34:51.85\00:34:53.19 And you said, it's not like drinking from a fire hydrant, 00:34:53.22\00:34:55.29 but you literally took the words out of my mouth 00:34:55.32\00:34:57.06 because I'm thinking man, nine months 00:34:57.09\00:34:58.69 of this, this, all these things. 00:34:58.73\00:35:01.26 So did you, was there ever a point 00:35:01.30\00:35:02.76 where you just felt like, man, this is just so much, 00:35:02.80\00:35:04.93 too much work or this is just too much to bear. 00:35:04.97\00:35:08.47 Give me your thoughts on that 00:35:08.50\00:35:09.84 because there may be someone watching at home and say, 00:35:09.87\00:35:11.21 man, I don't know if I want to come to that 00:35:11.24\00:35:12.61 with all that he just listed. 00:35:12.64\00:35:14.11 It seems overwhelming. 00:35:14.14\00:35:15.48 What's your thoughts towards that? 00:35:15.51\00:35:16.85 Yeah. 00:35:16.88\00:35:18.21 The way that Dee set up the program... First of all, 00:35:18.25\00:35:19.81 I want to say that 00:35:19.85\00:35:22.08 it's one of the most well rounded programs 00:35:22.12\00:35:24.09 and you never see something that has as much as it has 00:35:24.12\00:35:27.99 and have as much success as it did 00:35:28.02\00:35:31.29 without the hand of God being totally involved. 00:35:31.33\00:35:34.20 And like Hannah was mentioning before. 00:35:34.23\00:35:37.10 I've also felt the same way that 00:35:37.13\00:35:39.23 CORE was a safe environment 00:35:39.27\00:35:41.70 and also an understanding one too, 00:35:41.74\00:35:44.04 because it allowed us to be at a place 00:35:44.07\00:35:46.21 where we get to learn. 00:35:46.24\00:35:47.58 And it's a lot of information, it can be a lot of information, 00:35:47.61\00:35:50.75 but you know, Dee understands us young, young individuals, 00:35:50.78\00:35:53.95 especially for us who want to take a gap year 00:35:53.98\00:35:56.52 or who might've even dropped out of college 00:35:56.55\00:35:58.59 or are seeking to know what their careers might look like 00:35:58.62\00:36:03.73 in the future. 00:36:03.76\00:36:05.13 And he just set it up in a way where you can just succeed, 00:36:05.16\00:36:07.93 you know, one of his biggest things 00:36:07.96\00:36:09.33 was setting us up for success. 00:36:09.36\00:36:11.80 And he, he's... I guess God set it up in a way where 00:36:11.83\00:36:16.81 it wasn't too much at once. 00:36:16.84\00:36:18.44 You know, he didn't reveal all the light 00:36:18.47\00:36:20.08 and just completely blind to us. 00:36:20.11\00:36:21.74 So it was just a little, you know? 00:36:21.78\00:36:23.95 Brother, I got you. 00:36:23.98\00:36:25.85 Just a little bit at a time 00:36:25.88\00:36:27.85 that the classes weren't overwhelming, 00:36:27.88\00:36:29.75 they're very enjoyable. 00:36:29.78\00:36:31.69 And it was built in a way where it wasn't too mundane. 00:36:31.72\00:36:37.63 There was always something new. 00:36:37.66\00:36:39.06 It's always exciting. 00:36:39.09\00:36:40.63 We always had next week 00:36:40.66\00:36:42.00 and the next day to look forward to. 00:36:42.03\00:36:43.47 Not too much homework? 00:36:43.50\00:36:44.97 Yeah. Not too much. 00:36:45.00\00:36:46.33 We actually don't really give homework. 00:36:46.37\00:36:48.80 So that was, so anything that they do 00:36:48.84\00:36:50.47 that isn't a homework category 00:36:50.51\00:36:52.07 is directly tied to growing in with Jesus. 00:36:52.11\00:36:54.28 So we have a book club, they do some scripture memorization, 00:36:54.31\00:36:56.85 but we didn't want this to be 00:36:56.88\00:36:59.95 an excruciating academic environment. 00:36:59.98\00:37:02.42 We wanted to give them experiences 00:37:02.45\00:37:03.79 that could draw them closer to Christ 00:37:03.82\00:37:05.15 and give them the tools to take it even deeper. 00:37:05.19\00:37:07.32 So like, yeah, we tried to build variety 00:37:07.36\00:37:09.62 and so that they wouldn't be so crushed out 00:37:09.66\00:37:11.86 because we knew what was going to be asked of them. 00:37:11.89\00:37:13.73 So we're like, if we spread this out, 00:37:13.76\00:37:15.43 alternate, what happens on each day? 00:37:15.46\00:37:17.23 Give them days off, then it's going to be easier. 00:37:17.27\00:37:20.10 But if you don't manage your time 00:37:20.14\00:37:21.54 well, it'll be hard for sure. 00:37:21.57\00:37:22.90 But like, if you're, if you are, 00:37:22.94\00:37:24.64 and we have classes on time management, 00:37:24.67\00:37:26.07 if they do that, there it's doable. 00:37:26.11\00:37:28.74 Sure. 00:37:28.78\00:37:30.11 Yeah. 00:37:30.15\00:37:31.48 So everything that was asked of us was very reasonable 00:37:31.51\00:37:33.25 and we're totally on board with it. 00:37:33.28\00:37:35.32 And if we ever came up on late like 10 minutes, 00:37:35.35\00:37:37.35 where he's just like you know what, that's on me. 00:37:37.39\00:37:40.86 He wouldn't work with us on getting things on time. 00:37:40.89\00:37:44.13 That's so awesome. Praise the Lord. 00:37:44.16\00:37:45.73 Yeah. 00:37:45.76\00:37:47.10 And I would say the CORE is a great place. 00:37:47.13\00:37:50.47 If you are not an academic person who likes to study a lot 00:37:50.50\00:37:54.97 and having your nose stuck in a book all the time. 00:37:55.00\00:37:57.44 Because like the classes aren't super long, 00:37:57.47\00:37:59.64 you get breaks, reasonable breaks between the classes. 00:37:59.67\00:38:02.98 So you can get up and wiggle. 00:38:03.01\00:38:04.35 And if you're like me sitting still and concentrating 00:38:04.38\00:38:06.25 for a long period of time is really hard, 00:38:06.28\00:38:08.02 you know, you always told in church to quiet. 00:38:08.05\00:38:11.49 It's quiet, sit down. 00:38:11.52\00:38:12.85 That's right. 00:38:12.89\00:38:14.22 Not in CORE. 00:38:14.26\00:38:15.59 I got you. You can be yourself. 00:38:15.62\00:38:16.96 Sure, so it sounds like a very raw and open environment 00:38:16.99\00:38:18.33 where people can be themselves? 00:38:18.36\00:38:19.69 Yeah. Vulnerability is welcomed and praised. 00:38:19.73\00:38:21.80 How we do disciplines, different. 00:38:21.83\00:38:23.16 Like instead of just getting on to people for things, 00:38:23.20\00:38:25.47 we help them think through, how did you get here? 00:38:25.50\00:38:27.84 Why did this happen? 00:38:27.87\00:38:29.87 Ellen White talks about this. 00:38:29.90\00:38:31.24 I think it's in the book Education, 00:38:31.27\00:38:32.61 but it's in the context of education that 00:38:32.64\00:38:34.38 we need to bring the student to a place 00:38:34.41\00:38:36.04 where they recognize that what was done is wrong. 00:38:36.08\00:38:38.21 But then she says we need to enlist 00:38:38.25\00:38:39.71 their will in its correction. 00:38:39.75\00:38:41.82 And so, kind of taking that approach of self-governance. 00:38:41.85\00:38:44.25 So we don't really, we're not trying to control these kids 00:38:44.29\00:38:46.99 and, you know, tell them what to do and when, like, 00:38:47.02\00:38:48.89 we have principals, we have a handbook, 00:38:48.92\00:38:50.89 we're on the same campus as minors, you know? 00:38:50.93\00:38:52.83 So we have to have policies, but in a general sense, 00:38:52.86\00:38:55.46 like we want to teach them to think for themselves 00:38:55.50\00:38:56.93 and navigate through it. 00:38:56.97\00:38:58.30 We have a class in critical thinking 00:38:58.33\00:38:59.67 just to learn how to think for yourself. 00:38:59.70\00:39:01.57 Our fundamental beliefs class is totally different 00:39:01.60\00:39:03.47 than the way it's generally done. 00:39:03.51\00:39:04.84 We actually give them the texts in the order 00:39:04.87\00:39:07.08 in which they're shared for a study, 00:39:07.11\00:39:08.94 but we don't tell them what to say. 00:39:08.98\00:39:10.51 So for the first hour, they're just wrestling with a text 00:39:10.55\00:39:12.65 and having the experience with the text for themselves 00:39:12.68\00:39:15.65 before we tell them anything. 00:39:15.68\00:39:17.02 So instead of just saying, here's what you say 00:39:17.05\00:39:18.79 after you read this verse 00:39:18.82\00:39:20.16 and here's the argument you'll get. 00:39:20.19\00:39:21.52 We teach them how to think instead of what to think. 00:39:21.56\00:39:24.93 Then we go through it together. 00:39:24.96\00:39:26.36 So it's three hours per doctrine a day. 00:39:26.39\00:39:29.20 So we have like five weeks 00:39:29.23\00:39:30.93 of Adventist fundamental beliefs. 00:39:30.97\00:39:32.87 But by doing that, they're having to experience 00:39:32.90\00:39:34.80 with the text before someone tells them what to think, 00:39:34.84\00:39:36.97 so that when they're giving a Bible study, 00:39:37.01\00:39:38.67 they're better prepared to do that. 00:39:38.71\00:39:40.64 We go through objections, we go through, 00:39:40.68\00:39:42.11 we help them see where's Jesus in this text. 00:39:42.14\00:39:44.31 That's the other thing that as they're studying, 00:39:44.35\00:39:46.15 where's the heart of God. 00:39:46.18\00:39:47.52 Where's the gospel in this text. 00:39:47.55\00:39:48.88 And how does that fit into the narrative of this doctrine 00:39:48.92\00:39:51.62 or this topic? 00:39:51.65\00:39:52.99 So by doing that, it kind of helps them long-term. 00:39:53.02\00:39:55.72 But as you mentioned, we have an hour of class 00:39:55.76\00:39:57.49 and then a 15 minute break, hour of class, 00:39:57.53\00:40:00.00 15 minute break, then an hour of class and that's it. 00:40:00.03\00:40:02.96 Then you have lunch, then there's either work 00:40:03.00\00:40:04.67 or there's outreach and so proper breaks. 00:40:04.70\00:40:08.67 It's not like you got three minutes 00:40:08.70\00:40:10.04 to hope your brain comes back, you know, like you. 00:40:10.07\00:40:11.94 Go out and take a breath of air 00:40:11.97\00:40:13.31 and then come back and we'll start again. 00:40:13.34\00:40:14.68 Right. 00:40:14.71\00:40:16.04 So we give them longer breaks just to be able to process it 00:40:16.08\00:40:17.41 because we do ask a lot, but we try to set them up to succeed. 00:40:17.45\00:40:20.08 Got you. 00:40:20.12\00:40:21.45 So what's the general schedule look like on a daily basis 00:40:21.48\00:40:23.35 so what times it start, end from day to day? 00:40:23.39\00:40:25.75 So Sundays they have outreach in the afternoon. 00:40:25.79\00:40:28.29 So it starts later in the day, 00:40:28.32\00:40:29.66 they have a little bit of worship at 11.45. 00:40:29.69\00:40:31.66 I think the academy does two meals that day. 00:40:31.69\00:40:33.13 So they have like a brunch, so they can sleep in a little bit 00:40:33.16\00:40:36.40 after partying hard with Dutch Blitz 00:40:36.43\00:40:38.27 or something the night before, 00:40:38.30\00:40:39.77 you know, or Catan or something. 00:40:39.80\00:40:42.37 So we have reasonable bedtime. 00:40:42.40\00:40:45.31 You have to be in bed by 11 on Sabbath, Sabbath evenings, 00:40:45.34\00:40:47.78 but still and then they have outreach 00:40:47.81\00:40:50.11 through the course of the afternoon 00:40:50.15\00:40:51.48 and early evening, 00:40:51.51\00:40:52.85 Monday through Thursday, they have class. 00:40:52.88\00:40:54.32 So they worship at 7:40, breakfast is like seven, 00:40:54.35\00:40:57.35 worship is 7:45 to 8:15. 00:40:57.39\00:40:59.35 The students are the ones giving the worship talks. 00:40:59.39\00:41:01.52 So they're getting lots of opportunities 00:41:01.56\00:41:03.26 to learn how to do public speaking 00:41:03.29\00:41:04.63 because we've got around a dozen students each year, 00:41:04.66\00:41:06.96 the last couple of years. 00:41:07.00\00:41:08.33 And I think seven, the first year, 00:41:08.36\00:41:09.70 a dozen last year around the same this year. 00:41:09.73\00:41:11.27 And so they're learning how to give worships 00:41:11.30\00:41:14.84 multiple times that we assigned the topics. 00:41:14.87\00:41:16.54 So had to tell your testimony in 15 minutes, 00:41:16.57\00:41:19.87 had to do a character study on someone in the Bible, 00:41:19.91\00:41:22.91 pick a song, pick a proverb, 00:41:22.94\00:41:24.98 share something from a chapter in Steps to Christ. 00:41:25.01\00:41:27.25 So they're learning how to preach in different ways, 00:41:27.28\00:41:29.12 on different topics throughout the course of the year. 00:41:29.15\00:41:32.02 So they have class from 8:15 to 11:45. 00:41:32.05\00:41:35.62 On Monday and Wednesday, 00:41:35.66\00:41:36.99 they have outreach in the afternoons. 00:41:37.03\00:41:38.63 Tuesday and Thursday, they do work on campus 00:41:38.66\00:41:40.33 from like one to six. 00:41:40.36\00:41:41.70 So it's just a five hour shift on the cafeteria working, 00:41:41.73\00:41:44.80 so learning how to cook or they're doing stuff 00:41:44.83\00:41:47.14 in the farm, learning how to do agriculture 00:41:47.17\00:41:49.77 or maybe doing grounds. 00:41:49.80\00:41:51.31 If they have experience in construction, 00:41:51.34\00:41:52.71 they can be doing that with the academy 00:41:52.74\00:41:55.31 doing kind of maintenance stuff. 00:41:55.34\00:41:57.35 If they have specialized experience, 00:41:57.38\00:41:58.81 like one of our students was a great photographer. 00:41:58.85\00:42:00.68 He helped with the marketing department at the academy. 00:42:00.72\00:42:03.15 So he was helping doing video and photo stuff for them. 00:42:03.18\00:42:05.55 So it just depends on what their background is. 00:42:05.59\00:42:07.46 May be able to plug that in, 00:42:07.49\00:42:08.82 to help the academy meet their goals 00:42:08.86\00:42:10.56 and also help our students 00:42:10.59\00:42:11.93 learn to be responsible workers, 00:42:11.96\00:42:13.83 so that that's making them well-rounded. 00:42:13.86\00:42:15.53 And then Fridays, they have the day off, 00:42:15.56\00:42:17.03 they do laundry in the morning. 00:42:17.07\00:42:18.40 We have worship that night. 00:42:18.43\00:42:19.77 Sabbaths, we go to the church in the morning. 00:42:19.80\00:42:21.14 So we split the group up, half works with one church, 00:42:21.17\00:42:23.10 half works with another. 00:42:23.14\00:42:24.47 So they get more chances to have leadership roles 00:42:24.51\00:42:26.71 as opposed, you know, 50 kids in one place, 00:42:26.74\00:42:29.54 then no one really gets to do anything. 00:42:29.58\00:42:30.91 They just attend. 00:42:30.95\00:42:32.28 They're participating in church for nine months. 00:42:32.31\00:42:34.42 And then in the afternoons, we don't really ask much of them 00:42:34.45\00:42:37.12 on Sabbath so they can go for hikes, 00:42:37.15\00:42:39.59 have a study together, engage in lay activities 00:42:39.62\00:42:41.92 if that's their thing, if you know what I mean 00:42:41.96\00:42:44.59 or, you know, then we have worship in the evening. 00:42:44.63\00:42:46.36 So we have vespers Friday night and Saturday night. 00:42:46.39\00:42:48.66 And this year we're going to be incorporating 00:42:48.70\00:42:50.37 more guest teachers into our vesper slots. 00:42:50.40\00:42:52.93 So they're getting more exposure 00:42:52.97\00:42:54.30 to different types of ministry. 00:42:54.34\00:42:55.67 Who's doing this, who's doing that? 00:42:55.70\00:42:57.34 Like we've got digital media evangelism 00:42:57.37\00:42:58.81 is one of our topics. 00:42:58.84\00:43:00.21 So people who are doing podcasts 00:43:00.24\00:43:02.34 or like Lineage Journey, 00:43:02.38\00:43:03.78 how they come in and talk about doing media stuff for, 00:43:03.81\00:43:06.51 so they get to interact with Adventist influencers 00:43:06.55\00:43:08.85 in digital media, learning their story, how it started, 00:43:08.88\00:43:11.52 what worked, what didn't. 00:43:11.55\00:43:12.89 So we'll incorporate more of that in our vespers too. 00:43:12.92\00:43:14.66 That is amazing. 00:43:14.69\00:43:16.12 Praise the Lord. So, okay. 00:43:16.16\00:43:17.59 Someone's wanting to watch it right now. Okay. 00:43:17.63\00:43:19.69 Let's talk about finances here? 00:43:19.73\00:43:21.06 Sure. 00:43:21.10\00:43:22.43 How are we going to pay for this? 00:43:22.46\00:43:23.80 What's the price of the program, all of that? 00:43:23.83\00:43:26.10 Yeah. It's a great question. 00:43:26.13\00:43:27.70 So the way we set it up mimics a school year. 00:43:27.74\00:43:29.50 So they start in late August at the end, 00:43:29.54\00:43:31.34 of the end of May or early June. 00:43:31.37\00:43:32.91 So they could have a summer job. 00:43:32.94\00:43:34.28 They could canvas the summer before. 00:43:34.31\00:43:35.64 The Pennsylvania Conference 00:43:35.68\00:43:37.01 is rebooting a canvassing program. 00:43:37.05\00:43:39.05 And one of my staff, their husband is going to run it. 00:43:39.08\00:43:42.05 And then the other two of my staff, 00:43:42.08\00:43:43.42 they actually are going to help run that in the summer. 00:43:43.45\00:43:44.99 So they could canvas the summer before they come 00:43:45.02\00:43:47.09 and take their proceeds and put towards their tuition. 00:43:47.12\00:43:49.69 And then they canvas the first semester, 00:43:49.72\00:43:51.83 which also goes towards their tuition. 00:43:51.86\00:43:53.73 And if they wanted to, they could canvas the summer 00:43:53.76\00:43:55.86 after they graduate and backdate 00:43:55.90\00:43:57.60 that towards their tuition. 00:43:57.63\00:43:59.00 And if they do those three things, 00:43:59.03\00:44:00.77 they're going to be close to paying off their tuition 00:44:00.80\00:44:02.37 by itself. 00:44:02.40\00:44:03.74 Plus when a student is accepted, we give them 00:44:03.77\00:44:05.54 a fundraising letter we already wrote for them. 00:44:05.57\00:44:07.61 On our letterhead, it explains a whole program. 00:44:07.64\00:44:09.54 They just put in their name that gets into family, 00:44:09.58\00:44:11.68 to friends, to church members, it's tax deductible. 00:44:11.71\00:44:13.98 The gift they can give, 00:44:14.02\00:44:15.35 they give to the worthy student fund to set them up. 00:44:15.38\00:44:17.75 And so we do what we can to set them up to succeed financially. 00:44:17.79\00:44:21.59 The overall cost right now is about $10,000 00:44:21.62\00:44:23.76 and that's three meals a day, seven days a week, 00:44:23.79\00:44:26.49 plus your lodging, 00:44:26.53\00:44:27.86 plus a mission trip and a plane ticket. 00:44:27.90\00:44:29.70 So that's cheaper than going to boarding school. 00:44:29.73\00:44:31.80 You go to other schools in evangelism. 00:44:31.83\00:44:33.54 Generally the cost is about $5,000 for three months. 00:44:33.57\00:44:36.44 We're $10,000 for nine months and we're giving them 00:44:36.47\00:44:40.04 three meals a day, seven days a week. 00:44:40.08\00:44:42.21 Most of these programs, either you cook for yourself 00:44:42.24\00:44:44.05 or you get two meals a day, like five days a week, 00:44:44.08\00:44:46.01 you don't have to worry about cooking. 00:44:46.05\00:44:47.38 It's all built in. 00:44:47.42\00:44:48.75 That's amazing. 00:44:48.78\00:44:50.12 And they have vegan options, 00:44:50.15\00:44:51.49 there's vegetarian options in the cafe. 00:44:51.52\00:44:52.85 So they got a big, nice salad bar. 00:44:52.89\00:44:54.22 They bring in stuff from the farm 00:44:54.26\00:44:55.59 and use in the cafeteria. 00:44:55.62\00:44:56.96 So that's basically the way that we've set it up. 00:44:56.99\00:44:59.59 And so we do what we can. 00:44:59.63\00:45:01.73 Then we've got a worthy student fund 00:45:01.76\00:45:03.10 and that's certainly something that, 00:45:03.13\00:45:04.47 you know, viewers, if maybe you can't come to CORE, 00:45:04.50\00:45:06.84 this is an opportunity for you to ensure 00:45:06.87\00:45:08.77 that young people are having experiences like James 00:45:08.80\00:45:11.27 and Hannah had to be able to come. 00:45:11.31\00:45:13.74 So even if maybe this isn't your gig 00:45:13.78\00:45:15.84 and you just wanting to do CORE online or something else, 00:45:15.88\00:45:18.31 we really need an army of givers to ensure that people 00:45:18.35\00:45:20.82 like this can come and we can grow the program 00:45:20.85\00:45:23.22 because we'd rather have close to 25-30 students. 00:45:23.25\00:45:25.85 We just started so it's early, 00:45:25.89\00:45:27.22 but I think having more students would be a blessing. 00:45:27.26\00:45:29.92 And the more support we can get in that 00:45:29.96\00:45:31.29 regard will help as well. 00:45:31.33\00:45:32.66 That's amazing. 00:45:32.69\00:45:34.03 We do our part to make them do their part. 00:45:34.06\00:45:35.40 You know, so students aren't just getting handouts, 00:45:35.43\00:45:37.03 like they're working hard to get where they're going, 00:45:37.07\00:45:39.17 but some of them could use some additional help. 00:45:39.20\00:45:41.00 So if we can help with that at CORE, 00:45:41.04\00:45:42.90 plus we give them the canvassing opportunity. 00:45:42.94\00:45:45.04 That's kind of how we try to set them up. 00:45:45.07\00:45:46.41 Awesome. 00:45:46.44\00:45:47.78 So this is a... 00:45:47.81\00:45:49.14 This is the CORE Discipleship Evangelism program. 00:45:49.18\00:45:51.25 So how is this program impacting evangelistically? 00:45:51.28\00:45:56.58 Let's talk about, what are the kids going to take away 00:45:56.62\00:45:58.79 because we have about five minutes or so left. 00:45:58.82\00:46:00.52 So I just want to get into the evangelism aspect 00:46:00.56\00:46:03.93 of this program in the aftermath of a student leaving, 00:46:03.96\00:46:07.40 what are they leaving with and what tools do they have 00:46:07.43\00:46:10.17 to be able to go now be an evangelist 00:46:10.20\00:46:12.43 in their community or in their church, whatever? 00:46:12.47\00:46:14.50 That's a great question. 00:46:14.54\00:46:15.87 So some people think that if you're just running 00:46:15.90\00:46:17.77 like a discipleship program, 00:46:17.81\00:46:19.61 it doesn't really work evangelistically. 00:46:19.64\00:46:21.14 Like sometimes there's this premise, 00:46:21.18\00:46:22.51 like you get to pick one or the other, 00:46:22.54\00:46:23.88 we designed it to where you get both. 00:46:23.91\00:46:25.31 They did $45,000 in canvassing last fall 00:46:25.35\00:46:27.85 in the midst of a pandemic 00:46:27.88\00:46:29.78 with 12 students part-time three days a week. 00:46:29.82\00:46:32.65 They had a three-week blitz and part time 00:46:32.69\00:46:34.82 and had tremendous results, canvassing. 00:46:34.86\00:46:36.93 Bible work, they had over 20 something studies 00:46:36.96\00:46:38.86 that were going in the community. 00:46:38.89\00:46:40.30 We had multiple baptisms. 00:46:40.33\00:46:41.66 We did a full length evangelism series 00:46:41.70\00:46:43.26 in the two churches that we worked with. 00:46:43.30\00:46:44.77 The Bible worker in one church did a one set of meetings. 00:46:44.80\00:46:47.44 I did the other set of meetings. 00:46:47.47\00:46:49.20 And even the way we did the meetings was different. 00:46:49.24\00:46:52.91 So we did the WW Prescott model of seeing Jesus 00:46:52.94\00:46:55.51 at the heart of every single message. 00:46:55.54\00:46:57.48 And it worked, people were coming. 00:46:57.51\00:46:59.15 We had like, I think that meetings I did, 00:46:59.18\00:47:00.68 we had like 12 to 18 visitors every night throughout, 00:47:00.72\00:47:03.82 that was the same average 00:47:03.85\00:47:05.19 throughout the whole length of the meetings, 19 meetings. 00:47:05.22\00:47:07.22 We had multiple decisions for baptism that happened 00:47:07.26\00:47:09.39 during the meetings that were baptized 00:47:09.42\00:47:10.76 and those who made decisions, 00:47:10.79\00:47:12.13 you know, to be baptized in the future in both places. 00:47:12.16\00:47:14.80 So evangelistically, it works, churches grew, 00:47:14.83\00:47:17.23 churches were revived. 00:47:17.27\00:47:18.60 Canvassing. 00:47:18.63\00:47:19.97 Lots of literature went out for the students themselves. 00:47:20.00\00:47:22.17 We have multiple students right now that are Bible working 00:47:22.20\00:47:24.31 for the Pennsylvania Conference. 00:47:24.34\00:47:26.47 James is looking into doing Bible work. 00:47:26.51\00:47:27.91 He's furthering a little bit more studies right now. 00:47:27.94\00:47:29.48 He's looking to do Bible work. 00:47:29.51\00:47:31.51 Hannah is actually looking to do overseas mission work. 00:47:31.55\00:47:33.42 So she's looking to teach English overseas in Brazil. 00:47:33.45\00:47:36.82 And I've got students who have broad backgrounds. 00:47:36.85\00:47:39.55 So some go back to college with a solid foundation 00:47:39.59\00:47:42.86 to know why they believe what they believe 00:47:42.89\00:47:44.56 going into local churches and helping at their college. 00:47:44.59\00:47:47.30 Other students are going into ministry right away. 00:47:47.33\00:47:49.30 I've got two students right now in Eden Valley. 00:47:49.33\00:47:51.33 So one is helping in the education side, 00:47:51.37\00:47:53.34 I think they're like helping is like the assistant 00:47:53.37\00:47:54.87 to the education department at Eden Valley. 00:47:54.90\00:47:57.04 And another is working with the health coaching. 00:47:57.07\00:47:59.21 So there's broad opportunities for them to plug in. 00:47:59.24\00:48:02.24 People call us all the time.
