I wanna share Jeremiah 29:11. 00:06:52.21\00:06:57.01 When I was reading a little bit about your experience, 00:06:57.05\00:06:58.95 this text came to mind. 00:06:58.98\00:07:00.98 "For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, 00:07:01.02\00:07:04.02 said the Lord, thoughts of peace 00:07:04.05\00:07:06.65 and not of evil to give you an expected end." 00:07:06.69\00:07:10.26 So, God, He knows your family 00:07:10.29\00:07:13.13 and He's got a plan for you all. 00:07:13.16\00:07:15.10 So I'm excited to hear about this plan. 00:07:15.13\00:07:16.87 Hmm. So let's dive into your background. 00:07:16.90\00:07:19.87 Let's find out what was your upbringing like, 00:07:19.90\00:07:21.70 Caleb, and were you brought up in the church 00:07:21.74\00:07:24.84 'cause I'm always fascinated 00:07:24.87\00:07:27.71 when people wanna go into mission work 00:07:27.74\00:07:29.78 and go out of the country 00:07:29.81\00:07:31.91 and we're gonna get to that too. 00:07:31.95\00:07:33.52 That's just a little preview. 00:07:33.55\00:07:34.88 But let's go into your background. 00:07:34.92\00:07:37.29 I guess I'll start with my parents 00:07:37.32\00:07:38.75 because they were missionaries in Guatemala. 00:07:38.79\00:07:41.32 My dad's from the United States and my mom's from Nicaragua. 00:07:41.36\00:07:44.63 And they met in Guatemala and were married there. 00:07:44.66\00:07:48.30 And it was at an Adventist institute, 00:07:48.33\00:07:51.43 a health Institute. 00:07:51.47\00:07:52.87 So from there, they moved back to the United States 00:07:52.90\00:07:55.40 and I was born in Florida. 00:07:55.44\00:07:57.77 And so I was raised in the church and raised on, 00:07:57.81\00:08:01.51 I guess, the health message really. 00:08:01.54\00:08:03.51 And so our family is always kind 00:08:03.55\00:08:07.05 of almost missionaries and training, 00:08:07.08\00:08:10.09 just the way we were raised. 00:08:10.12\00:08:11.95 And that led me to eventually 00:08:11.99\00:08:14.22 decide to become My father is a chiropractor. 00:08:14.26\00:08:16.93 Oh, okay. 00:08:16.96\00:08:18.29 And I decided I would go that route because we had such, 00:08:18.33\00:08:22.36 I guess, a healthy upbringing. 00:08:22.40\00:08:24.10 And I thought, you know, 00:08:24.13\00:08:25.47 I wanna have that for my family. 00:08:25.50\00:08:27.47 So whether I was going to be a chiropractor 00:08:27.50\00:08:29.84 or work construction or, you know, 00:08:29.87\00:08:32.61 whatever it is that God had for me, 00:08:32.64\00:08:34.61 I wanted to know those things to be able to have 00:08:34.64\00:08:36.88 that for my family. 00:08:36.91\00:08:38.25 Wow. 00:08:38.28\00:08:39.61 And I know also as I was studying chiropractic, 00:08:39.65\00:08:42.82 there's all kinds of different techniques. 00:08:42.85\00:08:44.92 And I always focused for techniques 00:08:44.95\00:08:48.09 that didn't require tools or electricity 00:08:48.12\00:08:50.49 'cause I always thought, you know, 00:08:50.53\00:08:51.86 what if I don't have that stuff, 00:08:51.89\00:08:53.23 I wanna be able to help people anyway. 00:08:53.26\00:08:55.13 So I didn't know, the Lord was kind of training me 00:08:55.16\00:08:58.03 during that time. 00:08:58.07\00:09:01.10 So that's kind of, I guess, my health background, 00:09:01.14\00:09:04.34 but grew up in the church, 00:09:04.37\00:09:08.44 took a while for me to decide to be baptized. 00:09:08.48\00:09:11.11 I was 21 when I decided to be baptized. 00:09:11.15\00:09:14.98 But, you know, everybody's got their story, 00:09:15.02\00:09:18.75 ups and downs, and I felt the Lord really pulling me 00:09:18.79\00:09:22.79 back towards Him in college. 00:09:22.82\00:09:25.43 Did you feel like you didn't have that relation, 00:09:25.46\00:09:28.20 that personal relationship because you know, 00:09:28.23\00:09:30.20 sometimes our parents are in the church 00:09:30.23\00:09:31.97 and all of that stuff, 00:09:32.00\00:09:33.34 but if we don't have that personal connection, 00:09:33.37\00:09:35.40 like we didn't grab hold of God yet, 00:09:35.44\00:09:38.74 was that the case for you? 00:09:38.77\00:09:40.28 I'd say so 'cause we went to the Christian school 00:09:40.31\00:09:43.18 at my church in Maryville, Tennessee. 00:09:43.21\00:09:44.95 OK. 00:09:44.98\00:09:46.31 And I went first through eighth grade 00:09:46.35\00:09:47.68 and I knew doctrine and I knew how I supposed to be. 00:09:47.72\00:09:51.45 And there were things that made me question 00:09:51.49\00:09:56.52 when I got into high school. 00:09:56.56\00:09:58.16 And that that's where I kind of fell away. 00:09:58.19\00:10:01.73 And it wasn't until college that I started studying 00:10:01.76\00:10:04.87 the Bible myself. 00:10:04.90\00:10:06.27 And actually I was watching 3ABN. 00:10:06.30\00:10:08.17 That was one of the things that drew me back as well. 00:10:08.20\00:10:11.81 And I realized, you know what, I'm a baby. 00:10:11.84\00:10:13.81 I don't know all this stuff that I thought I knew, 00:10:13.84\00:10:15.98 it was only to me now hearsay, 00:10:16.01\00:10:18.11 and finding out for the first time, 00:10:18.15\00:10:19.61 learning for myself that began in college really. 00:10:19.65\00:10:24.49 Praise God for that connection and bringing you back around. 00:10:24.52\00:10:30.03 And, Glenda, tell us a little bit 00:10:30.06\00:10:31.66 about your background. 00:10:31.69\00:10:33.23 Well, my background, I'm from Argentina 00:10:33.26\00:10:37.03 as you can notice in my accent. 00:10:37.07\00:10:38.67 And I grew up in the church 00:10:38.70\00:10:41.27 and going also to Adventist schools 00:10:41.30\00:10:44.87 but always having a fire for serving the Lord 00:10:44.91\00:10:48.34 and also for adventure. 00:10:48.38\00:10:50.98 And I don't know if He put that when I was born, 00:10:51.01\00:10:55.32 but I just grew up. 00:10:55.35\00:10:56.92 And now finally, I think I can get use 00:10:56.95\00:11:00.52 of that natural, 00:11:00.56\00:11:03.06 I'll say, skill or characteristic. 00:11:03.09\00:11:07.56 So I can... 00:11:07.60\00:11:09.00 Or we as a family can go into a missionary 00:11:09.03\00:11:14.14 or be part of the missionary, 00:11:14.17\00:11:16.44 a missionary project. 00:11:16.47\00:11:19.04 I studied also in Argentina and all through 00:11:19.07\00:11:22.91 my kindergarten to university in Adventist schools. 00:11:22.94\00:11:28.55 And I enjoy that so, much, but when I was in college, 00:11:28.58\00:11:33.15 I had the honor to meet my husband there. 00:11:33.19\00:11:36.83 He was just visiting his brother. 00:11:36.86\00:11:38.56 I was his brother's teacher. 00:11:38.59\00:11:40.63 And we saw... 00:11:40.66\00:11:44.83 First time we saw each other, we just fell in love. 00:11:44.87\00:11:46.97 And 68 days after we got married. 00:11:47.00\00:11:50.31 So things can go... 00:11:50.34\00:11:51.67 I think it was 63 days. 63, okay. 00:11:51.71\00:11:55.48 63 days, we might have to talk after this. 00:11:55.51\00:11:58.35 I'm looking for my wife. 00:11:58.38\00:12:00.52 I got to find out how you did that. 00:12:00.55\00:12:03.55 Yes. 00:12:03.59\00:12:04.92 But everything was a miracle actually in God's hands. 00:12:04.95\00:12:09.79 And since then, we also, before marrying, 00:12:09.82\00:12:13.09 we talk about the desire. 00:12:13.13\00:12:16.20 We both have to be missionaries and we didn't know, 00:12:16.23\00:12:20.90 but the Lord was putting that seed in our hearts 00:12:20.94\00:12:24.81 one day to be able to really have this dream 00:12:24.84\00:12:30.58 come true being missionaries. 00:12:30.61\00:12:32.81 And for some reason, we always 00:12:32.85\00:12:34.28 wanted to be missionaries overseas. 00:12:34.32\00:12:37.32 And well, now we get to do that 00:12:37.35\00:12:40.69 and hopefully soon we can go to Guyana. 00:12:40.72\00:12:43.43 Oh, yes. Yes. With a project there. 00:12:43.46\00:12:46.26 I was wondering about 00:12:46.29\00:12:49.06 some of the things that you would, 00:12:49.10\00:12:51.30 family would do when you guys go over to Guyana. 00:12:51.33\00:12:54.50 And did you guys like music at all? 00:12:54.54\00:12:57.24 Oh, yes, definitely. Yes, we really do. 00:12:57.27\00:12:59.84 We play a lot of instruments 00:12:59.87\00:13:02.58 and we like to write songs and... 00:13:02.61\00:13:05.41 Nice. What instruments do you play? 00:13:05.45\00:13:07.75 Well, I play the piano, the guitar and the ukulele. 00:13:07.78\00:13:11.85 Oh, nice. Violin. 00:13:25.30\00:13:27.54 I know how to play mandolin, but I don't have one. 00:13:27.57\00:13:30.34 I know how to play ukulele 00:13:30.37\00:13:32.97 and I can play piano right here. 00:13:33.01\00:13:35.24 Wow. Yeah. 00:13:38.45\00:13:40.15 And we're planning to bring all that talent to the field too. 00:13:40.18\00:13:45.45 Amen. Nice. 00:13:45.49\00:13:46.82 So tell us about AWA. What does AWA stand for? 00:13:46.86\00:13:50.93 It means Adventist World Aviation. 00:13:50.96\00:13:52.86 Okay. And what does AWA do? 00:13:52.89\00:13:56.63 So they go to places where you cannot reach 00:13:56.67\00:14:00.94 these places by car, by boat. 00:14:00.97\00:14:03.51 Really the only way to get in is by flight. 00:14:03.54\00:14:06.44 So they go in and help people who are kind of isolated. 00:14:06.47\00:14:11.81 So it's funny 00:14:11.85\00:14:13.48 I'm answering your question, but I won't be the pilot. 00:14:13.52\00:14:15.98 My wife is the one that's studying to be a pilot. 00:14:16.02\00:14:18.05 Wow. Yeah. Yeah. That's awesome. 00:14:18.09\00:14:20.72 That's awesome. Now who drives? 00:14:20.76\00:14:23.26 I drive. We both do. 00:14:23.29\00:14:28.13 Okay. 00:14:28.16\00:14:29.50 So you're studying to be a pilot 00:14:29.53\00:14:31.33 and what's that training like? 00:14:31.37\00:14:33.67 Well, the training is a challenge because, 00:14:33.70\00:14:39.64 well, English is not my first language. 00:14:39.67\00:14:42.04 Okay. 00:14:42.08\00:14:43.41 The measurements are not the same 00:14:43.45\00:14:44.78 I used to use in Argentina. 00:14:44.81\00:14:46.68 So everything is different, but praise God, 00:14:46.72\00:14:50.42 I'm learning a lot. 00:14:50.45\00:14:51.82 And I have really wonderful instructors and it's exciting, 00:14:51.85\00:14:57.43 it's a blessing to be able to see these guys every week 00:14:57.46\00:15:02.93 and it's really a blessing. 00:15:02.96\00:15:06.74 So yeah, it's wonderful. 00:15:06.77\00:15:08.10 Now does the whole family get to go up 00:15:08.14\00:15:10.74 with you during your training? 00:15:10.77\00:15:12.74 How does that work? Well, not yet. 00:15:12.77\00:15:14.51 I mean, they could come in and watch, 00:15:14.54\00:15:16.51 but we have like a busy family. 00:15:16.54\00:15:20.92 So while they are at home, we homeschool, 00:15:20.95\00:15:24.39 they are doing their homework, I do mine in the sky. 00:15:24.42\00:15:29.52 Yes. Got you. 00:15:29.56\00:15:30.93 Got you. 00:15:30.96\00:15:32.29 And so were you about to say something? 00:15:32.33\00:15:34.56 I'm curious about where are you guys gonna be going? 00:15:34.60\00:15:37.37 You're going to Guyana, right? 00:15:37.40\00:15:39.50 That's right. Where is that located? 00:15:39.53\00:15:41.17 So every time we say Guyana, people say, "Oh, Africa." 00:15:41.20\00:15:43.81 And Guyana is actually in South America 00:15:43.84\00:15:45.71 and it is actually people know about Venezuela. 00:15:45.74\00:15:48.78 It's right next to Venezuela. 00:15:48.81\00:15:50.58 And it is also... 00:15:50.61\00:15:52.88 It's an interesting country because the primary language 00:15:52.91\00:15:55.62 there is English and right next to them 00:15:55.65\00:15:58.42 is Venezuela on the west. 00:15:58.45\00:16:00.26 And then south is Brazil where they speak Portuguese. 00:16:00.29\00:16:03.66 And then on the east side, they have Suriname 00:16:03.69\00:16:05.76 where you've got Dutch 00:16:05.79\00:16:07.36 and then on the east of them is a French Guyana 00:16:07.40\00:16:09.86 where they speak French. 00:16:09.90\00:16:11.23 It's a really interesting multi pot there on the coast, 00:16:11.27\00:16:13.60 the upper coast of South America. 00:16:13.64\00:16:15.07 Hmm. 00:16:15.10\00:16:16.44 So what are the needs of the Guyanese natives 00:16:16.47\00:16:19.34 and how do you figure out what those needs are? 00:16:19.37\00:16:23.38 So AWA has been in Guyana for 25 years, I believe. 00:16:23.41\00:16:28.35 And so, they've been working there 00:16:28.38\00:16:31.22 with the native people 00:16:31.25\00:16:32.59 and the people on the coast as well. 00:16:32.62\00:16:33.96 So the information, we're missionaries at training, 00:16:33.99\00:16:36.52 we've not yet been to Guyana, but we're gonna go very soon. 00:16:36.56\00:16:40.70 But we heard a story specifically about a city 00:16:40.73\00:16:45.00 that's in the interior Guyana, more in the jungle. 00:16:45.03\00:16:47.44 Most of like 80% I believe of the population 00:16:47.47\00:16:50.17 live on the coast. 00:16:50.21\00:16:51.54 And so, the natives though, the highest concentration 00:16:51.57\00:16:54.44 of natives is in the interior, in this place called Bermuda. 00:16:54.48\00:17:00.22 And Bermuda about 10 years ago 00:17:00.25\00:17:02.82 was AWA was flying in and helping people. 00:17:02.85\00:17:07.06 If they had any sort of emergencies, 00:17:07.09\00:17:08.89 they would pick them up and bring them to Georgetown, 00:17:08.92\00:17:11.23 the capital city on the coast where there's a hospital. 00:17:11.26\00:17:14.80 So I guess there was a time 00:17:14.83\00:17:19.07 where there was one of the chiefs, 00:17:19.10\00:17:20.87 they call them the Tashou, 00:17:20.90\00:17:23.00 and he was very sick and they didn't know why. 00:17:23.04\00:17:25.47 Turned out he had appendicitis and his appendix had ruptured. 00:17:25.51\00:17:28.48 So if they hadn't picked him up, 00:17:28.51\00:17:30.65 he would have died. 00:17:30.68\00:17:32.01 Now the community said, "We like your airplanes, 00:17:32.05\00:17:35.58 we want you to be here and help us, 00:17:35.62\00:17:37.42 you know, with that service. 00:17:37.45\00:17:38.82 But we don't wanna have anything to do 00:17:38.85\00:17:40.22 with your religion." 00:17:40.26\00:17:42.29 So after this though, after the Tashou got sick 00:17:42.32\00:17:46.39 and was taken to the hospital, he was able to be cared for 00:17:46.43\00:17:49.40 and brought back home. 00:17:49.43\00:17:51.03 Then he was like, 00:17:51.07\00:17:53.00 "We want you to build a house here. 00:17:53.03\00:17:56.97 And we want you to teach us about your God." 00:17:57.01\00:18:00.58 And that was done. That was 10 years ago. 00:18:00.61\00:18:03.24 And no one has lived in that house yet. 00:18:03.28\00:18:06.85 So when we heard that, I'm shivering right now, 00:18:06.88\00:18:09.62 I've got goosebumps So it's like... 00:18:09.65\00:18:11.02 So the house is waiting 00:18:11.05\00:18:12.59 more than 10 years for a missionary family, 00:18:12.62\00:18:15.72 that community, he said a city, okay. 00:18:15.76\00:18:18.59 This is just few houses on the jungle, 00:18:18.63\00:18:21.20 it's not like we picture a city. 00:18:21.23\00:18:23.60 It's a population of 4,000 people 00:18:23.63\00:18:26.30 distributed in that community. 00:18:26.33\00:18:30.34 And the house is waiting there for a family. 00:18:30.37\00:18:33.24 And there is no Christian prisons 00:18:33.27\00:18:36.68 except for one. 00:18:36.71\00:18:39.91 Yeah. 00:18:39.95\00:18:41.28 For one community, that one religion 00:18:41.32\00:18:43.69 that when there is missionaries too, but turned out now 00:18:43.72\00:18:46.05 that they get the customs of their community 00:18:46.09\00:18:49.96 and they introduced Algorism too. 00:18:49.99\00:18:52.36 So we feel like the call is urgent. 00:18:52.39\00:18:56.56 There is, you know, 4,000 people there in the heart 00:18:56.60\00:18:59.53 of the jungle waiting for the Lord. 00:18:59.57\00:19:03.14 They need hope. 00:19:03.17\00:19:04.51 I mean, the things that are happening in that community 00:19:04.54\00:19:06.84 are a little scary that even we are not sharing everything 00:19:06.88\00:19:10.25 with our family, what is going on there, 00:19:10.28\00:19:13.35 so they let us go. 00:19:13.38\00:19:14.92 But we feel like, yeah, 00:19:14.95\00:19:18.09 we should go the sooner, the better. 00:19:18.12\00:19:20.79 And we can't wait because it will be so amazing 00:19:20.82\00:19:25.29 to see the transformations there that we cannot wait. 00:19:25.33\00:19:28.90 Yeah. That is our hope. 00:19:28.93\00:19:30.27 The biggest problems that they're facing 00:19:30.30\00:19:33.23 there are alcoholism 00:19:33.27\00:19:35.24 and domestic abuse because of that 00:19:35.27\00:19:38.11 and then also suicide, and suicide among young people. 00:19:38.14\00:19:42.08 They really just don't have hope 00:19:42.11\00:19:44.15 that their vocations are mining 00:19:44.18\00:19:49.42 and agriculture. 00:19:49.45\00:19:51.85 But they don't have very much education. 00:19:51.89\00:19:55.09 In fact, one of the ways that we wanna reach them 00:19:55.12\00:19:56.69 is with literacy. 00:19:56.73\00:19:58.99 So if we can teach them to read English, 00:19:59.03\00:20:01.76 they speak English and their native Carib 00:20:01.80\00:20:04.20 I think it's called, they don't know 00:20:04.23\00:20:07.74 how to read well. 00:20:07.77\00:20:09.10 So if we can help with literacy and then we can also share 00:20:09.14\00:20:11.97 the Bible with them and share hope with them, 00:20:12.01\00:20:14.64 and that's how we hope to reach them 00:20:14.68\00:20:16.24 is really through literacy. 00:20:16.28\00:20:19.71 The things I can help in terms of health 00:20:19.75\00:20:22.05 and then with the flights, bringing them to the hospital 00:20:22.08\00:20:24.95 when there are emergencies. 00:20:24.99\00:20:26.52 Yeah. 00:20:26.55\00:20:27.89 I love that literacy component because that is so crucial. 00:20:27.92\00:20:31.13 How can you study the Word of God 00:20:31.16\00:20:32.69 if you can't read the Word of God? 00:20:32.73\00:20:34.56 So that's powerful. 00:20:34.60\00:20:36.53 What were some things 00:20:36.56\00:20:37.90 that went through your minds as, 00:20:37.93\00:20:40.54 you know, you were thinking about missionary work 00:20:40.57\00:20:42.90 and leaving the United States to go live in another country 00:20:42.94\00:20:46.91 and serve? 00:20:46.94\00:20:49.24 I guess I've visited many other countries. 00:20:49.28\00:20:52.08 So I think that opens your eyes and you realize 00:20:52.11\00:20:54.95 that the world is quite diverse 00:20:54.98\00:20:57.92 and that diversity is actually beautiful. 00:20:57.95\00:21:00.32 And kind of it's exciting to be able to experience that 00:21:00.36\00:21:03.06 and learn new things. 00:21:03.09\00:21:04.69 Glenda is not from here. 00:21:04.73\00:21:06.66 So she knows exactly what it's like 00:21:06.70\00:21:08.26 to leave her country. 00:21:08.30\00:21:10.23 Yes. 00:21:10.27\00:21:11.60 And I experienced already 00:21:11.63\00:21:12.97 the culture shock moving from Argentina to here. 00:21:13.00\00:21:17.41 So I think that was part of God's plan also, training, 00:21:17.44\00:21:21.11 He was training us before. 00:21:21.14\00:21:22.98 And now, I feel like I can help my family with transition 00:21:23.01\00:21:28.45 when we get there and that's something that 00:21:28.48\00:21:30.72 we are also doing with the children, 00:21:30.75\00:21:32.09 and we actually were talking recently about... 00:21:32.12\00:21:34.59 that they're going to be things different 00:21:34.62\00:21:37.09 and it will take It took me a year to adapt. 00:21:37.13\00:21:40.90 So I think I can help my family. 00:21:40.93\00:21:43.63 And yes, definitely, 00:21:43.67\00:21:45.00 God was preparing us for this mission now. 00:21:45.03\00:21:49.04 Amen. Amen. Amen. 00:21:49.07\00:21:50.41 Speaking of that, how did you know 00:21:50.44\00:21:52.91 when God was calling you to this mission? 00:21:52.94\00:21:56.18 That's such a good question. 00:21:56.21\00:21:57.55 I always Someone asked me that question. 00:21:57.58\00:22:00.48 I had to think, I was like, "How do I know, 00:22:00.52\00:22:02.35 how is this from God?" 00:22:02.38\00:22:03.82 And it occurred to me that where we're going 00:22:03.85\00:22:07.96 and what we're going to do, 00:22:07.99\00:22:09.92 it doesn't make logical sense 00:22:09.96\00:22:11.96 if we're looking at it from a human perspective. 00:22:11.99\00:22:14.16 We're going to a place where there's no electricity, 00:22:14.20\00:22:17.57 there's no running water, no sewer. 00:22:17.60\00:22:20.34 And in the middle of nowhere, we're leaving all our friends 00:22:20.37\00:22:22.54 and family and our loved ones behind. 00:22:22.57\00:22:25.31 That doesn't make sense in human logic 00:22:25.34\00:22:27.98 and yet God has placed it on our hearts. 00:22:28.01\00:22:29.81 And when we heard the story, 00:22:29.84\00:22:31.18 like we were telling you about Bermuda, 00:22:31.21\00:22:33.15 it's like all of us were in unity about it. 00:22:33.18\00:22:35.85 We need to go there. 00:22:35.88\00:22:37.55 And so the Holy Spirit had to be the one that put 00:22:37.59\00:22:41.02 that on our hearts. 00:22:41.06\00:22:42.39 It's not something that came from us. 00:22:42.42\00:22:46.03 I guess that's how. 00:22:46.06\00:22:47.40 So how did you talk to the kids about this 00:22:47.43\00:22:51.93 and what was that conversation like? 00:22:51.97\00:22:54.80 I actually don't remember it well. 00:22:54.84\00:22:57.37 Yes, because I mean, we homeschool, 00:22:57.41\00:23:00.18 we have a different type of life and we do a lot 00:23:00.21\00:23:03.35 of things in nature. 00:23:03.38\00:23:04.88 So just telling them that we are planning to go 00:23:04.91\00:23:08.95 or we have this call from God to go to Guyana, 00:23:08.98\00:23:12.72 it was for them a big like yes, 00:23:12.75\00:23:16.22 a big adventure. 00:23:16.26\00:23:17.59 And I think for Jordana, it was even easier, 00:23:17.63\00:23:20.26 a little bit easier and Enoch, 00:23:20.30\00:23:24.17 we remember that once 00:23:24.20\00:23:26.43 we learned about this really remote location in Guyana, 00:23:26.47\00:23:30.47 he was very into that too. 00:23:30.51\00:23:34.01 And I think that they are in the age that, 00:23:34.04\00:23:36.71 you know, they can feel 00:23:36.75\00:23:40.45 ahead that they will miss their friends 00:23:40.48\00:23:42.92 and it's going to be hard, but still they feel that it 00:23:42.95\00:23:47.59 is very worth it to do this. 00:23:47.62\00:23:49.02 Yes. 00:23:49.06\00:23:50.56 As far as being missionaries, 00:23:50.59\00:23:53.19 are there any special qualifications 00:23:53.23\00:23:55.70 that are needed to be a missionary? 00:23:55.73\00:23:57.10 I mean, are you guys bringing any special qualifications 00:23:57.13\00:23:59.27 for being missionaries? 00:23:59.30\00:24:00.70 Have the call. 00:24:00.74\00:24:02.07 That's it, the harvest is white. 00:24:02.10\00:24:04.27 So, you know, God wants people to go 00:24:04.31\00:24:07.01 and I think He's gonna place it on their hearts 00:24:07.04\00:24:09.31 when they should go 00:24:09.34\00:24:11.05 and He will provide the means 00:24:11.08\00:24:12.71 and He's gonna provide the abilities. 00:24:12.75\00:24:14.48 We have things that we bring maybe character traits 00:24:14.52\00:24:19.39 or training or whatever it is that our background 00:24:19.42\00:24:22.12 is that we feel we could help the people in Guyana. 00:24:22.16\00:24:25.73 But really we will get there and God may use us 00:24:25.76\00:24:28.70 in a totally different way than we expect. 00:24:28.73\00:24:30.40 And so... 00:24:30.43\00:24:32.20 Still, we are trying to prepare ourselves the best 00:24:32.23\00:24:35.94 we can because this is His mission. 00:24:35.97\00:24:39.17 So we want to know, you know, I'm doing the pilot training. 00:24:39.21\00:24:43.38 And he has been, you know, trying to get as simple 00:24:43.41\00:24:47.48 as he can within his practice. 00:24:47.52\00:24:50.19 Children, they have been learning survival skills, 00:24:50.22\00:24:54.89 gardening, and construction, 00:24:54.92\00:24:58.26 and a lot of things that maybe here in US 00:24:58.29\00:25:01.70 can be like a hobby, but there in Guyana, 00:25:01.73\00:25:04.23 we will need it for survive. 00:25:04.27\00:25:08.00 That's a necessity. It will be a necessity. 00:25:08.04\00:25:10.61 Yes. 00:25:10.64\00:25:12.01 And I also think that like the main thing 00:25:12.04\00:25:14.24 is to look for where God is working and then join Him. 00:25:14.28\00:25:18.55 Amen. Amen. 00:25:18.58\00:25:20.68 We could end the program on that one. 00:25:20.72\00:25:22.95 That was very, very good. 00:25:22.98\00:25:24.69 Excellent. Excellent. 00:25:24.72\00:25:26.69 What do you anticipate will be some 00:25:26.72\00:25:28.76 of the challenges that you'll face? 00:25:28.79\00:25:31.13 So I mean, just the adapting to the changes. 00:25:31.16\00:25:33.93 We won't, again, have electricity on a regular basis. 00:25:33.96\00:25:37.07 It's very hot, humid. 00:25:37.10\00:25:39.27 There are different animals, different insects. 00:25:39.30\00:25:43.14 The culture is different and I think 00:25:43.17\00:25:45.61 I've had experience with different cultures 00:25:45.64\00:25:47.78 and my wife has too, and Jordana is kind 00:25:47.81\00:25:50.75 of more adaptable. 00:25:50.78\00:25:52.51 And Enoch has had maybe the hardest time 00:25:52.55\00:25:54.45 with thinking about, "Man, this is America. 00:25:54.48\00:25:57.89 I love America. And I wanna go fishing." 00:25:57.92\00:26:01.19 And he's got all these things that he loves from our home. 00:26:01.22\00:26:05.99 So I think those are difficult to think about changing. 00:26:06.03\00:26:11.10 That's a good segue. I'm curious. 00:26:11.13\00:26:15.80 How do you two feel about, 00:26:15.84\00:26:18.61 you know, leaving your country, leaving your friends, 00:26:18.64\00:26:22.78 a family, what do you think? 00:26:22.81\00:26:25.81 Well, I mean, I think the hardest part 00:26:25.85\00:26:29.65 only probably leaving the cultures, 00:26:29.68\00:26:32.12 like we live in Tennessee, by the way. 00:26:32.15\00:26:35.12 And down there 00:26:35.16\00:26:36.76 it's pretty southern and I mean, 00:26:36.79\00:26:39.53 that's like I grew up in Tennessee. 00:26:39.56\00:26:41.60 It's all that I know about. 00:26:41.63\00:26:43.26 And I'm also leaving all my friends and family, 00:26:43.30\00:26:48.27 that'll probably be the hardest part. 00:26:48.30\00:26:50.64 Yes. 00:26:50.67\00:26:52.47 For me, it will definitely be the people. 00:26:52.51\00:26:56.64 I mean, and the mountains and the river 00:26:56.68\00:26:58.61 and that it's not very hot. 00:26:58.65\00:27:00.05 I don't like heat very much. 00:27:00.08\00:27:02.28 And I like cold rivers that you can swim in that are safe. 00:27:02.32\00:27:06.29 And that probably won't be like that in Guyana. 00:27:06.32\00:27:09.02 But for me, I'm the adventuresome type. 00:27:09.06\00:27:12.03 So I'm ready for the adventure. Nice. 00:27:12.06\00:27:15.13 They both touch me because she's very 00:27:15.16\00:27:19.13 willing to do it 00:27:19.17\00:27:21.30 and he is very willing to do it, 00:27:21.34\00:27:22.90 even when he knows that he won't be comfortable 00:27:22.94\00:27:26.44 and he knows that he'll have a very harder time. 00:27:26.47\00:27:29.94 Yes. Yes. 00:27:29.98\00:27:31.85 What do you hope to accomplish 00:27:31.88\00:27:34.95 on this missionary trip? 00:27:34.98\00:27:38.82 So we hope to spread the gospel because the people, 00:27:38.85\00:27:42.62 again, specifically in Bermuda, I mean, Guyana, 00:27:42.66\00:27:46.39 there are several places where AWA has, like, 00:27:46.43\00:27:50.47 we have a headquarters, in my room, 00:27:50.50\00:27:52.13 I think we have a picture of that. 00:27:52.17\00:27:54.44 And then Bermuda, 00:27:54.47\00:27:55.80 and then there's another one in Georgetown. 00:27:55.84\00:27:57.84 And so there are people that we're reaching already, 00:27:57.87\00:28:00.78 but we always wanted to reach people 00:28:00.81\00:28:02.38 who haven't heard the gospel. 00:28:02.41\00:28:04.98 And so to us 00:28:05.01\00:28:06.35 that's our major drive is to share the gospel 00:28:06.38\00:28:09.98 with people who haven't heard it yet. 00:28:10.02\00:28:11.72 And God is already working on their hearts. 00:28:11.75\00:28:14.12 And it's clear that that was true 10 years ago. 00:28:14.16\00:28:17.13 And we expect that He's still there, 00:28:17.16\00:28:19.36 still working on their hearts, 00:28:19.39\00:28:20.86 and we just we'd like to be workers 00:28:20.90\00:28:23.37 in His kingdom, so... 00:28:23.40\00:28:24.73 Absolutely. Amen. 00:28:24.77\00:28:26.47 What did your family say when you told them about this? 00:28:26.50\00:28:30.27 I think everybody was just maybe curious 00:28:30.31\00:28:35.48 how long we would be interested in doing this. 00:28:35.51\00:28:37.75 I don't know. If we were serious. 00:28:37.78\00:28:39.75 If we were serious, yeah. 00:28:39.78\00:28:41.12 But we have been doing things differently. 00:28:41.15\00:28:44.15 So in my case, my family wasn't really surprised. 00:28:44.19\00:28:47.99 My mom wanted to be a missionary in the Amazon. 00:28:48.02\00:28:51.33 So for her, I think 00:28:51.36\00:28:52.69 it was a happy thing to see in us 00:28:52.73\00:28:55.80 to realize about it. 00:28:55.83\00:28:57.67 Well, I think as the dates get closer, 00:28:57.70\00:28:59.53 our family is realizing, "Hey, this is serious. 00:28:59.57\00:29:01.34 They're going." And so they're... 00:29:01.37\00:29:05.34 I would say they don't have a problem, 00:29:05.37\00:29:07.21 my parents were missionaries, 00:29:07.24\00:29:08.88 but just they're just seeing us do it. 00:29:08.91\00:29:12.41 We're just going. Yeah. Yeah. 00:29:12.45\00:29:14.35 Walking into the calling that God has placed on your lives. 00:29:14.38\00:29:18.62 And it's amazing to me that you two are embracing 00:29:18.65\00:29:22.22 that calling as well. 00:29:22.26\00:29:23.59 And you're the adventurous type 00:29:23.63\00:29:25.86 and you're ready for an adventure. 00:29:25.89\00:29:27.40 And that's exciting. You wanna be used by God. 00:29:27.43\00:29:29.83 And I think that's incredible. 00:29:29.86\00:29:32.10 So that shows that your parents instilled 00:29:32.13\00:29:34.64 some wonderful Christian values in you. 00:29:34.67\00:29:38.54 So what was that like? 00:29:38.57\00:29:40.61 Do you guys learn about, 00:29:40.64\00:29:42.04 you know, the stories in the Bible? 00:29:42.08\00:29:46.11 Yes, we do. 00:29:46.15\00:29:49.05 I like to read more on my own and he reads a book too. 00:29:49.08\00:29:54.59 He reads it to me and yes, 00:29:54.62\00:29:56.89 that's like part of our training, 00:29:56.93\00:29:59.16 but it's like, well, before we got... 00:29:59.19\00:30:02.13 About the boys, 00:30:02.16\00:30:03.50 that's a totally different story, 00:30:03.53\00:30:04.87 but Dad would read to us every day from the Bible. 00:30:04.90\00:30:08.54 We're trying to read the whole Bible. 00:30:08.57\00:30:09.90 Amen. Nice. Nice. 00:30:09.94\00:30:11.51 And your brother reads to you too? 00:30:11.54\00:30:13.48 Yeah, I like reading Proverbs. Oh, that's awesome. 00:30:13.51\00:30:17.25 Yes.Yes. A wise man. 00:30:17.28\00:30:20.32 Jordana, you mentioned something 00:30:20.35\00:30:21.68 about preparing to go as a family. 00:30:21.72\00:30:26.39 So it makes me wonder, so as a family, 00:30:26.42\00:30:29.42 are there things that you are doing 00:30:29.46\00:30:31.69 to prepare to go to the mission fields? 00:30:31.73\00:30:35.76 Well, we're studying and praying together. 00:30:35.80\00:30:37.93 The training that that AWA provides for us, 00:30:37.97\00:30:40.77 there are certain reading materials 00:30:40.80\00:30:42.17 that we have to do. 00:30:42.20\00:30:43.54 There's also training, 00:30:43.57\00:30:45.01 like the Institute of World Missions. 00:30:45.04\00:30:48.21 So we do these things as a family. 00:30:48.24\00:30:50.65 And that's why when you asked about 00:30:50.68\00:30:52.78 how they responded when we told them about 00:30:52.81\00:30:55.38 or how we told them about it, 00:30:55.42\00:30:56.92 we make a lot of our decisions together. 00:30:56.95\00:30:58.75 We're together all the time and they're homeschooled. 00:30:58.79\00:31:01.22 I work from home. 00:31:01.26\00:31:02.59 And so everything that we're doing 00:31:02.62\00:31:06.23 for preparation is together. 00:31:06.26\00:31:08.80 And honestly, I think the biggest preparation 00:31:08.83\00:31:11.03 I think sometimes we lose sight of it, 00:31:11.07\00:31:12.90 especially now in this time we see 00:31:12.93\00:31:15.90 we're like in the toenails 00:31:15.94\00:31:17.77 of that image of Nebuchadnezzar. 00:31:17.81\00:31:19.91 And so that we are so close to the end 00:31:19.94\00:31:24.25 and I think people get worried about 00:31:24.28\00:31:25.61 how will we prepare for Jesus coming, 00:31:25.65\00:31:27.85 and really it's just relationship. 00:31:27.88\00:31:29.38 We need to have a relationship with Him. 00:31:29.42\00:31:31.52 And so that's our biggest training 00:31:31.55\00:31:34.42 is keeping our relationship with Jesus. 00:31:34.46\00:31:37.56 Amen. 00:31:37.59\00:31:38.93 And that's also how you're planning on reaching 00:31:38.96\00:31:40.80 the people in Guyana is by building 00:31:40.83\00:31:43.10 those relationships, assessing the needs 00:31:43.13\00:31:45.23 of the community, building those relationships, 00:31:45.27\00:31:47.20 and then telling them to follow Christ as Christ method. 00:31:47.24\00:31:49.74 Absolutely. Yeah. Yeah. 00:31:49.77\00:31:51.61 That's something that we have in mind. 00:31:51.64\00:31:53.24 We can have the best preparation 00:31:53.27\00:31:55.31 and we try to do that, 00:31:55.34\00:31:57.51 but being friends with the people there, 00:31:57.55\00:32:01.08 I think that's the best thing 00:32:01.12\00:32:02.45 we can do to reach people to the Lord. 00:32:02.48\00:32:05.02 Yes. Yes. Absolutely. 00:32:05.05\00:32:07.82 So you guys are excited about this. 00:32:07.86\00:32:09.99 I can tell. I can tell. We are. 00:32:10.03\00:32:11.99 You know, I remember when you first got here 00:32:12.03\00:32:14.56 and I came up and introduced myself to you 00:32:14.60\00:32:17.53 and met you. 00:32:17.57\00:32:18.90 I was just amazed at your countenance. 00:32:18.93\00:32:21.10 Like, you know, there's a glow on each and every one of you 00:32:21.14\00:32:24.87 and it just shows that, you know, 00:32:24.91\00:32:26.88 you've been studying the word and you've surrendered to God, 00:32:26.91\00:32:29.54 like your countenance really shows that. 00:32:29.58\00:32:32.25 Praise God. 00:32:32.28\00:32:33.62 And I think that's gonna make a difference too 00:32:33.65\00:32:35.08 when you go over there to Guyana. 00:32:35.12\00:32:36.82 People are gonna see that something 00:32:36.85\00:32:38.69 is different about your family. 00:32:38.72\00:32:41.09 You know, and they're gonna be drawn to that. 00:32:41.12\00:32:43.83 And it's the Lord. That's right. 00:32:43.86\00:32:45.83 It is the Lord. 00:32:45.86\00:32:47.20 So, yes, Ricky, what's on your mind? 00:32:47.23\00:32:50.80 I think about flying 00:32:50.83\00:32:52.50 and about the most piloting that I could ever see myself 00:32:52.53\00:32:58.44 doing is being right here with Jason being his copilot. 00:32:58.47\00:33:02.28 And so are you planning on being copilot? 00:33:02.31\00:33:05.21 I will. 00:33:05.25\00:33:06.58 I'm sure I will be co-pilot from time to time. 00:33:06.61\00:33:10.19 You know, there are a lot of medevac flights, 00:33:10.22\00:33:12.02 and so I may be in the back. 00:33:12.05\00:33:13.39 I have EMT training as well, 00:33:13.42\00:33:15.09 so I may be helping as we fly the patients. 00:33:15.12\00:33:19.39 But she's the pilot. Yeah. 00:33:19.43\00:33:21.56 I'm learning, I'm a student pilot. 00:33:21.60\00:33:25.67 And well, you are welcome to come to my, 00:33:25.70\00:33:28.77 you know, my training, that will be pretty 00:33:28.80\00:33:30.64 exciting for sure. 00:33:30.67\00:33:33.68 But that is a plus, it's not something necessary 00:33:33.71\00:33:37.51 to be part of the AWA family, 00:33:37.55\00:33:40.95 but it will be a plus to learn 00:33:40.98\00:33:44.09 because of the situation that the geography 00:33:44.12\00:33:46.69 and the way people communicate from community to community. 00:33:46.72\00:33:50.33 Yes. 00:33:50.36\00:33:51.69 So let's talk about that situation. 00:33:51.73\00:33:53.23 Let's talk about the geography and the layout. 00:33:53.26\00:33:55.70 So where's the closest grocery store? 00:33:55.73\00:33:59.23 It depends what way. 00:33:59.27\00:34:01.84 If you are going on a vehicle from Bermuda, 00:34:01.87\00:34:07.31 which is the project that we will like to go, 00:34:07.34\00:34:10.81 it takes four to five days. 00:34:10.85\00:34:13.38 So if you are having a craving... 00:34:13.42\00:34:15.25 Wait, wait. 00:34:15.28\00:34:16.62 Four to five days to go to the grocery store? 00:34:16.65\00:34:18.22 Yes. Wow. 00:34:18.25\00:34:20.39 I like to eat, 00:34:20.42\00:34:21.92 so you have to have a solid grocery list. 00:34:21.96\00:34:25.99 For sure, for sure. Yeah. 00:34:26.03\00:34:27.56 So I don't know how advance or how big 00:34:27.60\00:34:31.50 is the community now, for what we watched, 00:34:31.53\00:34:36.34 I didn't see any market there. 00:34:36.37\00:34:40.41 So we have our gardeners 00:34:40.44\00:34:42.71 and hopefully they provide us with some food, 00:34:42.74\00:34:46.92 but flying from one place from the base project, 00:34:46.95\00:34:52.65 which is in... 00:34:52.69\00:34:54.12 Mabaruma. Mabaruma. 00:34:54.16\00:34:55.66 Bermuda, it takes 30 minutes. 00:34:55.69\00:34:58.39 So see that the distance is a really... 00:34:58.43\00:35:00.73 It makes a difference to fly instead 00:35:00.76\00:35:03.57 of going on a boat or driving. 00:35:03.60\00:35:07.14 Okay. Absolutely. 00:35:07.17\00:35:08.50 So if the grocery store is so far away, 00:35:08.54\00:35:11.87 what about getting fuel for the plane? 00:35:11.91\00:35:14.68 Is that someplace close or how do you go 00:35:14.71\00:35:17.58 about getting that? 00:35:17.61\00:35:19.61 Well, my understanding is 00:35:19.65\00:35:22.08 I will have to fly to Georgetown 00:35:22.12\00:35:23.89 to the international airport. 00:35:23.92\00:35:25.99 And yeah, get the fuel there and then be very careful 00:35:26.02\00:35:30.56 going back not wasting any fuel because it's very expensive, 00:35:30.59\00:35:34.13 very expensive. 00:35:34.16\00:35:35.50 Yeah. That's right. 00:35:35.53\00:35:36.87 The fuel is stored in the airplane wings. 00:35:36.90\00:35:38.80 So they fly into Georgetown, fill up the wings, 00:35:38.83\00:35:42.30 go back into the headquarters and pump the fuel out 00:35:42.34\00:35:47.61 and use only what they need. 00:35:47.64\00:35:49.24 So they start storing barrels of fuel at Mabaruma 00:35:49.28\00:35:53.58 so that we, for future flights, 00:35:53.62\00:35:55.62 have it there versus having to go to Georgetown to get it. 00:35:55.65\00:35:59.85 Wow. Wow. Yeah. 00:35:59.89\00:36:01.92 So what in the areas of training, 00:36:01.96\00:36:05.39 how long is training to be a part of AWA? 00:36:05.43\00:36:10.37 That's an individual sort of thing. 00:36:10.40\00:36:12.50 Like some people are pilots already. 00:36:12.53\00:36:14.80 So if we were... 00:36:14.84\00:36:16.17 If Glenda was a pilot already, we'd have that under our belt. 00:36:16.20\00:36:19.37 But there's reading material, and then there's also... 00:36:19.41\00:36:23.38 You need to make a site visit 00:36:23.41\00:36:25.18 and we're planning on doing that very soon. 00:36:25.21\00:36:28.32 But I guess it depends on your life circumstance. 00:36:28.35\00:36:32.65 So for us because we do everything together 00:36:32.69\00:36:36.52 and we do everything from home, we have this flexibility 00:36:36.56\00:36:39.59 and I feel like we're advancing pretty quickly. 00:36:39.63\00:36:43.03 But it could take several years even to get the training done 00:36:43.06\00:36:46.57 or it could be a question of months. 00:36:46.60\00:36:49.44 So it's kind of like a learn at your own pace type of thing. 00:36:49.47\00:36:53.74 Right. Okay. Okay. 00:36:53.78\00:36:55.58 Is there like an average? 00:36:55.61\00:36:58.41 I think when I asked that question to AWA, 00:36:58.45\00:37:03.12 they told me about a year. 00:37:03.15\00:37:04.79 Nine months, a year. Okay. 00:37:04.82\00:37:06.69 That to me, it sounded so long, but after, 00:37:06.72\00:37:10.23 you know, this is now a year, basically a year ago, 00:37:10.26\00:37:13.53 I feel that we did a lot, 00:37:13.56\00:37:15.10 but there are more to accomplish before 00:37:15.13\00:37:18.00 we are ready to go. 00:37:18.03\00:37:19.37 Yeah, In addition to the training, 00:37:19.40\00:37:20.74 we have to raise support. 00:37:20.77\00:37:22.10 AWA is a supporting mission, just like 3ABN actually. 00:37:22.14\00:37:27.71 So we're independent. 00:37:27.74\00:37:29.91 And so we have to raise support 00:37:29.94\00:37:32.18 and that's one of the things that we'll be working on 00:37:32.21\00:37:34.48 as well between now and when we depart. 00:37:34.52\00:37:37.49 Got you. Got you. 00:37:37.52\00:37:38.95 Well, we hope that our viewers 00:37:38.99\00:37:41.42 and listeners will support your cause. 00:37:41.46\00:37:43.93 And we're gonna go into that a little bit later 00:37:43.96\00:37:45.63 'cause I want to find out exactly, 00:37:45.66\00:37:47.30 you know, what it is that you all need. 00:37:47.33\00:37:48.90 And then we'll show how to get in touch with you 00:37:48.93\00:37:50.97 and all of that stuff a little bit later. 00:37:51.00\00:37:53.00 But what advice would you have for someone 00:37:53.03\00:37:56.47 who's sitting at home and they're like, 00:37:56.50\00:37:58.31 "Well, I wanna do something for God, 00:37:58.34\00:38:00.04 but I don't know where to even begin." 00:38:00.08\00:38:05.38 Well, for us, 00:38:05.41\00:38:06.78 I guess it's just been keep a connection. 00:38:06.82\00:38:08.82 I mean, if you wanna know 00:38:08.85\00:38:12.32 what God wants you to do, really, I think if you look, 00:38:12.35\00:38:17.43 you'll see God's working. 00:38:17.46\00:38:19.29 And this is something that we've learned in our 00:38:19.33\00:38:21.16 training actually God will be working somewhere. 00:38:21.20\00:38:27.14 And if you recognize it, 00:38:27.17\00:38:28.50 that means He's showing it to you. 00:38:28.54\00:38:30.21 And if He's showing it to you, 00:38:30.24\00:38:31.57 that means He's inviting you to participate in that work 00:38:31.61\00:38:34.88 that He's doing. 00:38:34.91\00:38:36.24 So I think a lot of times we get caught up in this idea, 00:38:36.28\00:38:38.88 "Where I wanna do something for the Lord 00:38:38.91\00:38:40.62 and I have these skills. 00:38:40.65\00:38:41.98 And when is He gonna use me this way?" 00:38:42.02\00:38:43.85 And really we should be looking for where He's working 00:38:43.89\00:38:47.02 and join him where He is. 00:38:47.06\00:38:48.92 So, don't say when is He gonna use me this way, 00:38:48.96\00:38:51.93 but how does He want to use me. 00:38:51.96\00:38:53.73 Yes, yes. Excellent. Excellent advice. 00:38:53.76\00:38:56.73 I can imagine that in getting to the community, 00:38:56.77\00:39:02.27 you're going to start establishing friendships 00:39:02.30\00:39:07.01 and getting to know the people there, 00:39:07.04\00:39:11.71 but while there, after I guess you've 00:39:11.75\00:39:14.98 established those connections, are there gonna be types 00:39:15.02\00:39:18.29 of training that you'll be giving the people 00:39:18.32\00:39:20.72 or what type of training you do you 00:39:20.76\00:39:23.83 see that you'll be doing for them? 00:39:23.86\00:39:26.23 Well, we've talked about literacy, 00:39:26.26\00:39:27.60 so that's something we wanna help people 00:39:27.63\00:39:29.26 if they need to learn how to read. 00:39:29.30\00:39:31.50 Also so I'm a health professional 00:39:31.53\00:39:35.70 and so helping people, especially with our, 00:39:35.74\00:39:38.27 you know, our eight natural laws, 00:39:38.31\00:39:40.14 I'd help with that and their physical pains. 00:39:40.18\00:39:43.01 So those are things that we can share with the people. 00:39:43.04\00:39:45.25 But one of the other big ideas we've had is starting 00:39:45.28\00:39:48.98 a Pathfinder club because, you know, 00:39:49.02\00:39:52.05 there's an Adventist presence in Guyana, 00:39:52.09\00:39:54.69 but where we're going into the interior, there's not. 00:39:54.72\00:39:57.66 So the kids have talked about starting up 00:39:57.69\00:40:00.93 a Pathfinders club because there's so many 00:40:00.96\00:40:04.27 kids there and these are the kids 00:40:04.30\00:40:05.63 that are not having hope or they go to commit suicide 00:40:05.67\00:40:10.24 because they don't see a future. 00:40:10.27\00:40:12.11 And we feel like if we can get them 00:40:12.14\00:40:15.51 involved in something that teaches them about God, 00:40:15.54\00:40:17.61 but it's also fun and creates something to look forward to, 00:40:17.65\00:40:21.92 then that will change their idea about their future. 00:40:21.95\00:40:26.65 They'll know more about why life. 00:40:26.69\00:40:31.03 Yeah. Pathfinders is great. 00:40:31.06\00:40:32.93 I grew up in Pathfinders from a busy bee 00:40:32.96\00:40:38.13 all the way up to my teen years. 00:40:38.17\00:40:40.60 So if you guys can get a Pathfinder club started, 00:40:40.64\00:40:44.14 that's just an excellent way. 00:40:44.17\00:40:46.14 I can remember several of my Pathfinder instructors 00:40:46.17\00:40:50.68 who have helped me along the way 00:40:50.71\00:40:52.68 when I was growing up to help point me 00:40:52.71\00:40:54.85 and keep me on that straight narrow path. 00:40:54.88\00:40:57.39 And I could see that you guys could be doing that as well 00:40:57.42\00:40:59.89 for the children that are there. 00:40:59.92\00:41:02.19 That'd be a great ministry, 00:41:02.22\00:41:03.66 Pathfinders is a great ministry. 00:41:03.69\00:41:05.03 Mm-hm. Absolutely. I can't wait. 00:41:05.06\00:41:07.60 You know, you already know, I want to do a follow-up. 00:41:07.63\00:41:10.67 You haven't even gone over there. 00:41:10.70\00:41:12.03 Right. 00:41:12.07\00:41:13.40 But I'm excited because I do believe that God 00:41:13.44\00:41:15.60 is going to do amazing things 00:41:15.64\00:41:17.57 and he's gonna use your family to do it. 00:41:17.61\00:41:19.74 And I want to hear about what happens as, 00:41:19.77\00:41:24.28 you know, you're over there 00:41:24.31\00:41:25.65 and you're ministering to the people 00:41:25.68\00:41:27.12 and you're seeing that growth, 00:41:27.15\00:41:28.78 and I'm just claiming it in faith. 00:41:28.82\00:41:30.69 There's gonna be people that are giving their hearts 00:41:30.72\00:41:34.36 to the Lord. 00:41:34.39\00:41:35.72 And I can't wait to hear those stories as well. 00:41:35.76\00:41:38.89 I can't wait to share them. 00:41:38.93\00:41:40.26 We're so excited for that too. 00:41:40.30\00:41:42.16 I think about, you know, the story 00:41:42.20\00:41:44.13 of the woman at the well and how Jesus, 00:41:44.17\00:41:48.10 He told the disciples, "Look, the harvest is white," 00:41:48.14\00:41:51.71 and you're entering into someone else's labor. 00:41:51.74\00:41:53.81 You're going to reap where someone else has labored, 00:41:53.84\00:41:56.78 and then you will be laboring together. 00:41:56.81\00:41:59.08 And I feel like we see that the labor has been started. 00:41:59.11\00:42:02.95 And it's so exciting to think that we're living 00:42:02.98\00:42:06.15 so close to the end, we're gonna see 00:42:06.19\00:42:07.69 some incredible things. 00:42:07.72\00:42:09.39 And we just, we can't wait to be used that way for God. 00:42:09.42\00:42:14.40 Do you have any stories that you can share with us 00:42:14.43\00:42:17.90 in terms of maybe some situations 00:42:17.93\00:42:19.87 that have happened over here on the US side 00:42:19.90\00:42:22.10 where maybe you've witnessed to somebody 00:42:22.14\00:42:24.81 and you've seen a difference in their lives? 00:42:24.84\00:42:29.54 Our neighborhood. Hmm. 00:42:29.58\00:42:33.45 Yeah, just the way we are going to Guyana 00:42:33.48\00:42:37.72 is the way we are here, actually. 00:42:37.75\00:42:40.46 We are making friends with our neighbors 00:42:40.49\00:42:42.06 and we have Bible studies together 00:42:42.09\00:42:45.33 and they are so open to the truth 00:42:45.36\00:42:49.50 and changes, big changes for them that we know 00:42:49.53\00:42:55.17 is not coming from us, 00:42:55.20\00:42:56.81 it's definitely the Holy Spirit. 00:42:56.84\00:42:58.64 So, that gives us a hint that it can happen there in Guyana. 00:42:58.67\00:43:03.81 Yeah. 00:43:03.85\00:43:05.68 Our next door neighbors, they're two doors down, 00:43:05.71\00:43:08.88 but they asked us for Bible study 00:43:08.92\00:43:10.99 and that was such a surprising thing. 00:43:11.02\00:43:12.42 And in my office, these were patients 00:43:12.45\00:43:15.66 and I always try to share that I'm a believer 00:43:15.69\00:43:19.09 and share truth with them, 00:43:19.13\00:43:20.73 especially in regards to health, 00:43:20.76\00:43:22.10 but I'll pray with my patients as well. 00:43:22.13\00:43:24.07 And this particular neighbor who's a patient, 00:43:24.10\00:43:27.00 she asked for if we did Bible studies 00:43:27.04\00:43:29.47 and I felt kind of embarrassed that she was asking me 00:43:29.50\00:43:34.08 instead of the other way around and some of the topics 00:43:34.11\00:43:37.38 that we've been studying together with, 00:43:37.41\00:43:39.95 there are things that we as Adventists know 00:43:39.98\00:43:42.38 and so we know about the Sabbath 00:43:42.42\00:43:44.52 and we know about what happens when we die. 00:43:44.55\00:43:47.49 And these truths, 00:43:47.52\00:43:50.19 even in the Christian world are new to people 00:43:50.23\00:43:53.16 and kind of scary for us 00:43:53.19\00:43:54.83 as Adventists to share sometimes. 00:43:54.86\00:43:56.97 And we're just amazed at watching 00:43:57.00\00:44:00.74 how while study on a topic, and they're just like, 00:44:00.77\00:44:04.37 "Yeah, well, it's in the Bible. 00:44:04.41\00:44:05.74 That makes sense." 00:44:05.77\00:44:07.11 And God's working that 00:44:07.14\00:44:09.31 He's the only one that can change people's hearts. 00:44:09.34\00:44:11.45 He's the only one that can show them spiritual truth. 00:44:11.48\00:44:14.85 So we're blessed to see that, and in many different ways, 00:44:14.88\00:44:19.09 but definitely recently with our neighbors. 00:44:19.12\00:44:21.96 Yeah. That's huge. 00:44:21.99\00:44:24.06 And I'm sure, like, as you said, 00:44:24.09\00:44:25.99 you're gonna take that abroad. 00:44:26.03\00:44:27.76 What are some of your needs as a ministry? 00:44:27.80\00:44:31.67 What do you need? Do you need prayers? 00:44:31.70\00:44:33.84 You need financial support. Tell us what you need. 00:44:33.87\00:44:36.87 So we definitely need prayers. That's first and foremost. 00:44:36.91\00:44:39.97 In order to go to Guyana, 00:44:40.01\00:44:41.91 there are needs financially because we have 00:44:41.94\00:44:45.11 airplanes that need to fly and have gasoline. 00:44:45.15\00:44:47.18 We have places that we need to upkeep for ministry. 00:44:47.22\00:44:52.72 We have a community center where people come and worship, 00:44:52.75\00:44:56.42 and of course we'll be doing all kinds of stuff there 00:44:56.46\00:44:59.63 that we'll need help with financially. 00:44:59.66\00:45:02.00 So I guess the needs that we have are for people 00:45:02.03\00:45:07.87 who feel, I guess, the connection because God 00:45:07.90\00:45:11.07 has asked us to go, we know God has 00:45:11.11\00:45:12.44 asked us to go to Guyana, but if He's asked us to go, 00:45:12.47\00:45:16.31 He has to provide for it. 00:45:16.34\00:45:17.68 And we can't go to people and say, 00:45:17.71\00:45:19.18 "You need to provide for us to go to Guyana." 00:45:19.21\00:45:22.22 God's gonna put that on each individual's heart 00:45:22.25\00:45:24.95 who chooses to support or to partner 00:45:24.99\00:45:27.42 with us on this mission. 00:45:27.46\00:45:29.59 So that is what we need. 00:45:29.62\00:45:33.33 We need people to search, I guess, 00:45:33.36\00:45:35.30 is God calling them into this same ministry? 00:45:35.33\00:45:39.47 Is God calling them to partner for the people 00:45:39.50\00:45:42.60 of Guyana to hear about the gospel. 00:45:42.64\00:45:45.07 We cannot do it on our own. 00:45:45.11\00:45:47.01 We need prayer and, yes, we need financial support. 00:45:47.04\00:45:50.61 But God will provide that. 00:45:50.65\00:45:51.98 And each individual who decides will know. 00:45:52.01\00:45:54.62 Amen. Amen. Yeah. 00:45:54.65\00:45:56.65 The gospel is to be preached in all 00:45:56.69\00:45:58.29 the world and then the end shall come. 00:45:58.32\00:46:00.22 So yeah, that's crucial. 00:46:00.26\00:46:02.26 And I believe that our listeners 00:46:02.29\00:46:03.66 and our viewers will support that wonderful cause for you 00:46:03.69\00:46:07.30 guys to go to Guyana. 00:46:07.33\00:46:08.66 Brother Caleb, what you just said reminded me of a text. 00:46:08.70\00:46:12.07 You probably know this, Philippians 4:6 and 7, 00:46:12.10\00:46:15.70 it says, "Be anxious for nothing 00:46:15.74\00:46:18.81 but in everything by prayer 00:46:18.84\00:46:21.94 and supplication with thanksgiving, 00:46:21.98\00:46:25.65 let your requests be made known to God. 00:46:25.68\00:46:30.02 And the peace of God, 00:46:30.05\00:46:31.39 which surpasses all understanding will guard 00:46:31.42\00:46:35.12 your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus." 00:46:35.16\00:46:38.03 I think that's an excellent text to claim considering 00:46:38.06\00:46:42.60 what you guys are gonna be going through, 00:46:42.63\00:46:44.47 let your request be made known to God and He will provide. 00:46:44.50\00:46:47.94 Amen. Absolutely. 00:46:47.97\00:46:50.84 One of the hardest things for me 00:46:50.87\00:46:53.71 before starting as a missionary, 00:46:53.74\00:46:57.18 so support missionary was the financial part. 00:46:57.21\00:47:00.82 I have to be honest. 00:47:00.85\00:47:02.18 It's not easy to knock, 00:47:02.22\00:47:03.55 you know, and ask we need money. 00:47:03.59\00:47:05.95 It's not an easy thing. 00:47:05.99\00:47:07.49 But so far, God has been showing us 00:47:07.52\00:47:10.56 that He is the one who provides 00:47:10.59\00:47:13.19 and we see miracles constantly. 00:47:13.23\00:47:17.37 People... 00:47:17.40\00:47:18.73 I mean, we don't even ask, people come in and say, 00:47:18.77\00:47:20.90 "Hey, I would like to give you money 00:47:20.94\00:47:22.90 as a support you monthly." 00:47:22.94\00:47:24.27 And we are like, "Oh, Lord, we don't deserve this." 00:47:24.31\00:47:27.38 But He already the same way He called us to go to Guyana, 00:47:27.41\00:47:31.28 He is calling in people's hearts 00:47:31.31\00:47:33.15 to support us. 00:47:33.18\00:47:34.52 And that is wonderful. Amen. 00:47:34.55\00:47:35.98 Praise God. 00:47:36.02\00:47:37.35 So there's multiple different roles 00:47:37.39\00:47:39.69 and different facets in missionary work, right? 00:47:39.72\00:47:43.96 You have the people that can support and can help. 00:47:43.99\00:47:46.53 Maybe they can't go and maybe they can support financially. 00:47:46.56\00:47:50.60 You have the people that can pray. 00:47:50.63\00:47:53.03 And then you have the people that can pray, 00:47:53.07\00:47:54.77 support financially, 00:47:54.80\00:47:56.14 and maybe they'll join you out there as well. 00:47:56.17\00:47:58.91 There's multiple different facets. 00:47:58.94\00:48:01.14 How often will you get to come back home? 00:48:01.18\00:48:03.14 Oh, yeah. That's a good question. 00:48:03.18\00:48:04.85 It's kind of at our discretion. 00:48:04.88\00:48:09.85 AWA likes for us to come back on a furlough. 00:48:09.88\00:48:13.66 They like once a year, maybe a couple of years 00:48:13.69\00:48:16.26 so that we can really get to know the community 00:48:16.29\00:48:18.09 before we leave, you know? 00:48:18.13\00:48:21.46 So we'll see when the time feels right. 00:48:21.50\00:48:24.27 But I'm guessing about a year or two before 00:48:24.30\00:48:26.33 we come back after we launch. 00:48:26.37\00:48:28.24 Okay. So about a year or two. 00:48:28.27\00:48:30.54 Okay. Good. 00:48:30.57\00:48:31.91 We'll be looking for some stories 00:48:31.94\00:48:34.11 when you come back on furlough. 00:48:34.14\00:48:36.58 Yeah, that'd be great to have you guys back 00:48:36.61\00:48:38.05 and let us know how it all went out, 00:48:38.08\00:48:39.75 how it all went. 00:48:39.78\00:48:41.12 We look forward to that. Oh, yeah. 00:48:41.15\00:48:42.92 So how excited are you guys to go? 00:48:42.95\00:48:46.69 Like a lot. Yeah. 00:48:46.72\00:48:50.79 I love it. I love it. 00:48:50.83\00:48:52.19 Ricky, what's jumped out at you 00:48:52.23\00:48:55.26 so far from this wonderful story? 00:48:55.30\00:48:58.03 Well, I'm very impressed with the children. 00:48:58.07\00:49:01.07 We have... 00:49:01.10\00:49:02.44 My wife and I, we have five boys 00:49:02.47\00:49:04.61 and so I've always just want get in there 00:49:04.64\00:49:09.11 and do things with the family. 00:49:09.14\00:49:10.75 And so what I'm impressed is how the family 00:49:10.78\00:49:13.45 is just so together on this, 00:49:13.48\00:49:15.82 you know, that you guys haven't shown that, 00:49:15.85\00:49:18.19 "Oh, Dad, do we have to go? 00:49:18.22\00:49:21.06 Or, Mom, I really don't want to go. 00:49:21.09\00:49:22.42 I'm gonna miss all my friends." 00:49:22.46\00:49:23.93 No, you're very interested and you wanna participate. 00:49:23.96\00:49:27.46 You wanna help. 00:49:27.50\00:49:28.83 And so that's very exciting to see a family 00:49:28.86\00:49:31.53 together like that. 00:49:31.57\00:49:32.90 So I can see that the Lord 00:49:32.93\00:49:34.27 is leading in each one of your lives. 00:49:34.30\00:49:36.27 So that's been a blessing for me. 00:49:36.30\00:49:37.64 So thank you for sharing like this. 00:49:37.67\00:49:39.97 Yeah, you too. You're an inspiration. 00:49:40.01\00:49:42.24 You're an inspiration. 00:49:42.28\00:49:43.61 And you wanna use your gifts and talents for the Lord. 00:49:43.65\00:49:45.01 And I think that is incredible at such a young age. 00:49:45.05\00:49:48.28 You have a heart for ministry and that's evident. 00:49:48.32\00:49:52.52 Well done, parents. Well done. 00:49:52.55\00:49:54.66 Praise God. Amen. Amen. 00:49:54.69\00:49:56.39 How about you, Jason, 00:49:56.42\00:49:57.76 what's something that stood out for you? 00:49:57.79\00:49:59.13 Yeah. 00:49:59.16\00:50:00.50 I think you pretty much covered it, Ricky, you know, 00:50:00.53\00:50:01.86 what stands out to me is the fact that the family 00:50:01.90\00:50:04.10 is so close together. 00:50:04.13\00:50:06.23 They make decisions together as a family. 00:50:06.27\00:50:09.40 They've focused on the principles 00:50:09.44\00:50:11.74 that are found in the Word of God. 00:50:11.77\00:50:13.84 And I think that's huge. 00:50:13.88\00:50:15.98 Like your kids are on board 00:50:16.01\00:50:18.38 and on fire for the Lord, are ready. 00:50:18.41\00:50:20.88 I mean, that is incredible. 00:50:20.92\00:50:22.85 And that's something that stands out to me because, 00:50:22.88\00:50:24.82 you know, there's so many homes in the United States 00:50:24.85\00:50:28.16 and really around the world where the dad 00:50:28.19\00:50:30.76 is absent from the home or even 00:50:30.79\00:50:33.03 the mother might be absent from the home. 00:50:33.06\00:50:34.96 So there's the, you know, divorce and separation 00:50:35.00\00:50:37.90 and all of those things, but to see a family together 00:50:37.93\00:50:41.44 doing mission work for the Lord, 00:50:41.47\00:50:43.47 uprooting their lives, 00:50:43.51\00:50:45.57 you know, to go to Guyana and help others, 00:50:45.61\00:50:50.25 it's incredible. 00:50:50.28\00:50:51.91 And speaking of uprooting your lives, 00:50:51.95\00:50:55.55 I know that with all of the amenities 00:50:55.58\00:50:58.02 that we have and stuff in the States, 00:50:58.05\00:51:00.02 you're gonna have to get rid of some things. 00:51:00.06\00:51:02.06 So what's that process like? 00:51:02.09\00:51:04.09 Well, it's just not some things, 00:51:04.13\00:51:06.26 it's basically almost everything. 00:51:06.29\00:51:10.60 And well, this is something that even the kids 00:51:10.63\00:51:13.50 have to be part of it. 00:51:13.54\00:51:14.87 So they are... 00:51:14.90\00:51:16.71 We go over their room maybe monthly, weekly, 00:51:16.74\00:51:21.34 and they are declaring and getting just few things 00:51:21.38\00:51:25.28 items to take to Guyana. 00:51:25.31\00:51:27.35 And we are taking basically one pack, one backpack. 00:51:27.38\00:51:30.59 Plus the instrument cases. Yeah. 00:51:30.62\00:51:34.79 That goes in a different... 00:51:34.82\00:51:36.22 And those kinds of whole more things. 00:51:36.26\00:51:37.99 We saved some space 00:51:38.03\00:51:39.36 and just stuff everything to all pockets. 00:51:39.39\00:51:41.53 Yes. 00:51:41.56\00:51:43.10 That's one backpack and instrument cases. 00:51:43.13\00:51:46.37 Well, we want to let you know 00:51:46.40\00:51:48.67 how you can help this wonderful family in their journey, 00:51:48.70\00:51:52.14 in the mission field. 00:51:52.17\00:51:53.51 So we're gonna go to an address role 00:51:53.54\00:51:55.74 and then a brief news break. 00:51:55.78\00:51:57.11 And we'll be right back. 00:51:57.15\00:52:00.92 If you would like to contact 00:52:00.95\00:52:02.48 or know more about Adventist World Aviation, 00:52:02.52\00:52:05.39 you can write to them at 3457 Swift Creek Road, 00:52:05.42\00:52:10.13 Corp-3, Smithfield, North Carolina, 27577. 00:52:10.16\00:52:15.76 You can also call them 00:52:15.80\00:52:17.13 at (919) 938-2920. 00:52:17.17\00:52:21.90 That's (919) 938-2920. 00:52:21.94\00:52:26.41 You can also visit their website at flyawa.org. 00:52:26.44\00:52:30.85 That's flyawa.org 00:52:30.88\00:52:33.72 or email them at info@flyawa.org. 00:52:33.75\00:52:39.15
