00:07:11.93\00:07:14.66 No, I wasn't, 00:07:14.70\00:07:17.17 I actually entered the ministry 00:07:17.20\00:07:19.03 fairly late in life compared to my colleagues. 00:07:19.07\00:07:21.54 I actually worked for an oil company for many years. 00:07:21.57\00:07:23.54 I was an executive for an oil company. 00:07:23.57\00:07:24.91 Okay. 00:07:24.94\00:07:26.27 And climbing the corporate ladder, 00:07:26.31\00:07:28.18 and I owned a couple of businesses as well. 00:07:28.21\00:07:30.71 And, it struck me 00:07:30.75\00:07:34.15 like a bolt of lightning between the eyes 00:07:34.18\00:07:36.52 that I was gaining the whole world, 00:07:36.55\00:07:37.89 and I was losing my soul. 00:07:37.92\00:07:39.82 And, so in my late 20s, 00:07:39.85\00:07:42.82 I made the decision to... 00:07:42.86\00:07:47.86 turn things around. 00:07:47.90\00:07:50.30 I had all the success in the world, 00:07:50.33\00:07:51.67 but I was missing, 00:07:51.70\00:07:53.03 so it was a big vacuum in my life, 00:07:53.07\00:07:54.97 and so I put my car in park 00:07:55.00\00:07:58.17 in the middle of the Florida Turnpike. 00:07:58.21\00:07:59.64 I was down there and got on my hands and knees and prayed. 00:07:59.67\00:08:03.38 And for the first time, really in my life, 00:08:03.41\00:08:05.45 a prayer to a connected God, 00:08:05.48\00:08:07.48 and He found me 00:08:07.52\00:08:09.42 because I was the one that was lost, He wasn't. 00:08:09.45\00:08:11.32 Amen. 00:08:11.35\00:08:12.69 And so, I started studying for the ministry, 00:08:12.72\00:08:14.56 and went in the ministry after that. 00:08:14.59\00:08:15.99 And I've been a pastor for many years. 00:08:16.02\00:08:18.69 I've been an evangelist for this church, 00:08:18.73\00:08:20.06 a full time conference evangelist down in Florida, 00:08:20.10\00:08:22.26 and then went up to Wisconsin for many years, 00:08:22.30\00:08:23.77 pastored up there, and full-time evangelist, 00:08:23.80\00:08:25.53 and citywide evangelism coordinator 00:08:25.57\00:08:27.50 in the conference office, 00:08:27.54\00:08:29.50 and during that period of time, I became a pilot. 00:08:29.54\00:08:34.14 And that was one of the heart's desires 00:08:34.18\00:08:37.25 of my life to become a pilot like you were talking about 00:08:37.28\00:08:40.12 when you were young 00:08:40.15\00:08:41.72 I too went to that cockpit and... 00:08:41.75\00:08:44.15 You made it. 00:08:44.19\00:08:45.52 Well, you know he not only gave me a pen, 00:08:45.55\00:08:48.29 but he gave me a hat. 00:08:48.32\00:08:49.66 It was a Northwest Orient because, 00:08:49.69\00:08:51.03 of course, I'm dating myself. 00:08:51.06\00:08:52.39 It was back in the 60s. 00:08:52.43\00:08:53.76 And I was on flying on a Northwest Orient flight 00:08:53.80\00:08:55.53 and the captain had a cap 00:08:55.56\00:08:57.83 and I have it in my office to this day. 00:08:57.87\00:08:59.97 It hangs up there, and that's what inspired me, 00:09:00.00\00:09:02.50 and my mom encouraged me, 00:09:02.54\00:09:03.87 my dad encouraged me of course to, 00:09:03.91\00:09:05.37 you know, follow the dreams of my heart. 00:09:05.41\00:09:06.88 And so, I was able to soar with Jesus first in ministry 00:09:06.91\00:09:13.18 and then the privilege of flight came later. 00:09:13.21\00:09:16.92 And so, I've been flying for over, 00:09:16.95\00:09:19.59 well over 20 years now 00:09:19.62\00:09:20.96 and several thousand hours of time, 00:09:20.99\00:09:23.93 and yeah, the Lord is, Lord has blessed. 00:09:23.96\00:09:26.80 And how did you get into AWA? 00:09:26.83\00:09:29.03 Well, I was working... 00:09:29.06\00:09:33.03 I worked in Texas on the church planting program 00:09:33.07\00:09:35.14 for years, and I was down there. 00:09:35.17\00:09:37.71 I just left Wisconsin Conference 00:09:37.74\00:09:40.38 out of the conference office and went down to Texas 00:09:40.41\00:09:42.94 and I used my aircraft in evangelism 00:09:42.98\00:09:47.32 when I would hold a series of meetings. 00:09:47.35\00:09:49.35 In fact, I did one here 00:09:49.38\00:09:50.72 years ago with 3ABN and, Michael, 00:09:50.75\00:09:52.52 we were talking about him earlier 00:09:52.55\00:09:54.32 was on our production crew 00:09:54.36\00:09:55.69 and we got to talking about aviation 00:09:55.72\00:09:57.36 and he knew I was a pilot, 00:09:57.39\00:09:59.69 but I would take people up in the airplane 00:09:59.73\00:10:01.73 that would come to our evangelistic meetings 00:10:01.76\00:10:03.47 and I've done meetings, I've done, I think, 00:10:03.50\00:10:05.03 well over 200 meetings throughout my career, 00:10:05.07\00:10:09.64 but I would take people up on airplane rides 00:10:09.67\00:10:11.54 and I would have a, you know, a saying that it's, 00:10:11.57\00:10:13.11 you know, more people gave their souls to Jesus 00:10:13.14\00:10:14.64 in my aircraft than they did in my evangelistic meetings, 00:10:14.68\00:10:16.75 you know, I never did anything scary 00:10:16.78\00:10:20.02 with them, of course, but... 00:10:20.05\00:10:21.38 That was my next line. 00:10:21.42\00:10:23.22 Yeah, that's, 00:10:23.25\00:10:24.59 you just don't do that, but you know... 00:10:24.62\00:10:25.95 What kind of appeal was made? 00:10:25.99\00:10:27.39 But that connection is there, 00:10:27.42\00:10:28.76 you know, when you make that human connection, 00:10:28.79\00:10:30.53 that warmth, I mean, it's one thing to be preached 00:10:30.56\00:10:33.03 to, but when you make that human interaction connection, 00:10:33.06\00:10:35.80 and when you bring somebody on board an aircraft 00:10:35.83\00:10:38.00 and you fly with them, 00:10:38.03\00:10:39.37 you know, they're trusting the pilot 00:10:39.40\00:10:40.74 that, you know, my life is in your hands, 00:10:40.77\00:10:42.57 and you know, 00:10:42.60\00:10:44.17 I never would take advantage of that, of course, 00:10:44.21\00:10:46.88 but we would make those connections 00:10:46.91\00:10:48.64 and I would hand that hand to Jesus, 00:10:48.68\00:10:50.35 and as a result of that, people were baptized. 00:10:50.38\00:10:53.75 So I was always using aviation is somehow I just try, 00:10:53.78\00:10:56.52 Lord, help me use this skill 00:10:56.55\00:10:58.42 that you've had given me the privilege to learn. 00:10:58.45\00:11:00.69 Help me find a way to deliver that to Your people. 00:11:00.72\00:11:04.33 And so, the next thing I know, 00:11:04.36\00:11:07.23 I am being called by a couple of different institutions. 00:11:07.26\00:11:09.23 One was the Quiet Hour 00:11:09.26\00:11:10.60 'cause I did a lot of work for them. 00:11:10.63\00:11:12.23 The Quiet Hour was looking for a president at the time, 00:11:12.27\00:11:14.27 this was 10 years ago now. 00:11:14.30\00:11:15.80 And it just so happened 00:11:15.84\00:11:18.04 that one of the board of directors 00:11:18.07\00:11:21.14 that was on the Quiet Hour also simultaneously 00:11:21.18\00:11:23.45 a board of directors on Adventist World Aviation. 00:11:23.48\00:11:25.88 And he says, "Hey, wait a minute. 00:11:25.91\00:11:27.25 I know Rick, that's that flying evangelist." 00:11:27.28\00:11:29.65 Yeah, and I was like the flying nun, right? 00:11:29.68\00:11:31.45 So anyway, he says, "I know him. 00:11:31.49\00:11:35.59 We're also looking for a president." 00:11:35.62\00:11:37.13 So now I had two calls to entertain. 00:11:37.16\00:11:40.43 California didn't seem to be too appealing to me, 00:11:40.46\00:11:42.56 I didn't want to move out to California. 00:11:42.60\00:11:43.93 So that wasn't as interesting, 00:11:43.97\00:11:45.30 but Adventist World Aviation became interesting 00:11:45.33\00:11:46.90 because I had an opportunity to both share the gospel, 00:11:46.94\00:11:50.51 and share the passion of flying 00:11:50.54\00:11:52.47 and then a mission throughout the world, 00:11:52.51\00:11:54.51 because I knew the mission work 00:11:54.54\00:11:56.08 of Adventist World Aviation and what they were all about. 00:11:56.11\00:11:57.91 It was about soul-winning. 00:11:57.95\00:11:59.28 Yes, yes. Amen. 00:11:59.31\00:12:00.65 Yeah. Rebecca, what about you? 00:12:00.68\00:12:02.82 Did you grow up in the church? And... 00:12:02.85\00:12:05.29 Tell us a little bit about your background? 00:12:05.32\00:12:06.89 Yeah, I did grow up in the church, 00:12:06.92\00:12:10.19 I was in a home with my mother and my grandmother 00:12:10.23\00:12:13.16 and my grandfather. 00:12:13.19\00:12:14.53 My father was not present for that, 00:12:14.56\00:12:16.80 but I was always around it. 00:12:16.83\00:12:20.34 And even from a very early age, 00:12:20.37\00:12:22.40 I believe that I had the very strong sense 00:12:22.44\00:12:26.21 that God was calling me to mission work. 00:12:26.24\00:12:28.41 And it terrified me, absolutely terrified me. 00:12:28.44\00:12:31.71 And it was to the point where I spent pretty much 00:12:31.75\00:12:34.62 the last two decades running 00:12:34.65\00:12:40.92 because it freaked me out so much, 00:12:40.96\00:12:43.32 but yet every portion and aspect of my running, 00:12:43.36\00:12:47.90 there was always that underlying motive 00:12:47.93\00:12:50.67 that I need to help someone, 00:12:50.70\00:12:52.53 I need to be there to minister to him. 00:12:52.57\00:12:54.10 There was always that, that ingrained, 00:12:54.14\00:12:56.64 you're a missionary and you need to act like it. 00:12:56.67\00:12:58.71 So it was always there. 00:12:58.74\00:13:00.41 So, yeah, I grew up with that in mind 00:13:00.44\00:13:04.18 and it wasn't, I think until 00:13:04.21\00:13:05.55 just really over the past five years, 00:13:05.58\00:13:08.28 five, six years, 00:13:08.32\00:13:10.45 I think that God has really gotten a hold of me 00:13:10.49\00:13:13.25 and put me in the right direction 00:13:13.29\00:13:16.16 where I can really be of use to Him. 00:13:16.19\00:13:18.16 Amen. 00:13:18.19\00:13:19.53 What was it about the mission work specifically 00:13:19.56\00:13:22.00 that scared you so much? 00:13:22.03\00:13:24.70 Well, because my home kind of was a bit broken, 00:13:24.73\00:13:28.57 and my father wasn't involved and the one father figure 00:13:28.60\00:13:31.37 that I did have constant interaction 00:13:31.41\00:13:33.34 with, that was my grandfather. 00:13:33.38\00:13:35.98 He sadly had his own struggles 00:13:36.01\00:13:38.45 and that was not a good example of a father figure. 00:13:38.48\00:13:41.48 And so, my thought is, well, 00:13:41.52\00:13:43.42 if this is what it's like to have a father figure, 00:13:43.45\00:13:45.52 and I know that, you know, 00:13:45.55\00:13:46.89 heavenly father is always watching out for me 00:13:46.92\00:13:49.42 and always caring for me well, that was hard to reconcile. 00:13:49.46\00:13:52.59 So the thought was, if I serve God, 00:13:52.63\00:13:55.86 he's going to ship me off to Africa and then abandon me 00:13:55.90\00:13:58.83 because I think at that point, I mean, 00:13:58.87\00:14:00.30 I was born in '85 and still in the church, 00:14:00.34\00:14:03.17 there was a lot of talk about, you know, missionaries 00:14:03.20\00:14:05.54 they were far off foreign lands, 00:14:05.57\00:14:07.01 oftentimes about Africa. 00:14:07.04\00:14:08.44 So that was my thought, if you're a missionary, 00:14:08.48\00:14:10.21 you're going to go to Africa. 00:14:10.25\00:14:12.15 So that, that was my fear that I would be separated, 00:14:12.18\00:14:14.75 that I would be abandoned, that I'd be forgotten. 00:14:14.78\00:14:18.02 And then I just kind of fizzle into nothing. 00:14:18.05\00:14:20.96 And that scared me being an only child 00:14:20.99\00:14:24.23 in a single parent home, so. 00:14:24.26\00:14:26.03 Yes. 00:14:26.06\00:14:27.40 And how did you transition into Adventist World Aviation? 00:14:27.43\00:14:31.37 That was God's victory in my life pursuing me 00:14:31.40\00:14:35.54 and getting a hold of my heart, making it my idea to serve. 00:14:35.57\00:14:41.61 He whispered in my ear, oh, about five years ago, 00:14:41.64\00:14:45.68 you know, what if you became a pilot 00:14:45.71\00:14:47.12 for missionary aviation? 00:14:47.15\00:14:48.78 And because of where I was sitting 00:14:48.82\00:14:50.15 right there mentally, emotionally, 00:14:50.19\00:14:52.35 just where I was, I'm like, "Oh yeah, what if..." 00:14:52.39\00:14:55.62 But then it was one of those instances 00:14:55.66\00:14:57.83 where it's a notion you can't just push off, 00:14:57.86\00:15:00.70 it just keeps eating at you and digging at you. 00:15:00.73\00:15:02.76 And it's like, okay, I need to look into that. 00:15:02.80\00:15:05.47 And as I looked into it and looked into the criteria, 00:15:05.50\00:15:07.34 I'm like, that's a lot, 00:15:07.37\00:15:10.31 but you know, you're calling me to it, 00:15:10.34\00:15:13.54 then it's going to happen. 00:15:13.58\00:15:14.94 And that was kind of the seed 00:15:14.98\00:15:16.75 that was planted, and shortly after that 00:15:16.78\00:15:20.72 we discovered Adventist World Aviation. 00:15:20.75\00:15:22.68 We had no idea that that was even a ministry, 00:15:22.72\00:15:25.99 and once we learned of it, oh, we got super excited 00:15:26.02\00:15:28.52 and I started doing benefit concerts 00:15:28.56\00:15:31.66 for fundraising for AWA. 00:15:31.69\00:15:34.23 And then it traveled into both my husband 00:15:34.26\00:15:37.00 and I being taken on as missionaries and training. 00:15:37.03\00:15:39.83 We were going to go to Uganda, 00:15:39.87\00:15:42.04 that's its own story all in there. 00:15:42.07\00:15:44.87 And then things shifted. 00:15:44.91\00:15:46.54 And here we are with AWA today. That's incredible. 00:15:46.57\00:15:49.84 So when Rebecca first called our office, 00:15:49.88\00:15:54.22 I wasn't sure, you know, we get calls all the time. 00:15:54.25\00:15:56.72 Yes. 00:15:56.75\00:15:58.09 And, you know, you never know 00:15:58.12\00:15:59.65 if they're a serious call or if it's just, 00:15:59.69\00:16:01.19 you know, I was telling you earlier 00:16:01.22\00:16:02.86 before the show that, 00:16:02.89\00:16:04.46 you know, people falling out of the airplane, 00:16:04.49\00:16:05.89 some tragedy happens in their life 00:16:05.93\00:16:07.30 and, you know, and they jump out, 00:16:07.33\00:16:09.63 they forget their parachute or the parachute doesn't open 00:16:09.66\00:16:11.43 or something like, well, Lord, if you just save me, 00:16:11.47\00:16:13.47 you know, I'll dedicate my life to you, 00:16:13.50\00:16:14.97 and you know, we all have had those jump out of airplanes 00:16:15.00\00:16:18.47 and maybe not literally jumped out of an airplane, 00:16:18.51\00:16:20.24 but those experiences in our life 00:16:20.28\00:16:21.61 where we were reaching some sort of crescendo 00:16:21.64\00:16:24.51 in our life that is going to explode, 00:16:24.55\00:16:27.15 and so I'll just serve you if I can. 00:16:27.18\00:16:29.45 And so we get a lot of those calls and you get, 00:16:29.48\00:16:31.32 you have to filter those out. 00:16:31.35\00:16:32.69 So when Rebecca and Kyle called, 00:16:32.72\00:16:34.26 I wasn't sure, okay, well, 00:16:34.29\00:16:35.62 they seem sincere, but what's going on with them? 00:16:35.66\00:16:38.53 And, you know, the more I talked to Rebecca, 00:16:38.56\00:16:41.16 the more I thought this woman and this man 00:16:41.20\00:16:43.77 have a heart for the Lord. 00:16:43.80\00:16:45.27 And she said, "Well, my husband," 00:16:45.30\00:16:46.63 she told me about her husband. 00:16:46.67\00:16:48.00 And he'll, you can ask him about this in a minute. 00:16:48.04\00:16:49.44 But then she said, well, I said, 00:16:49.47\00:16:52.24 you know, what can you do for AWA? 00:16:52.27\00:16:53.61 She says, well, what can I do for AWA? 00:16:53.64\00:16:54.98 And I said, I don't know, what can you do? 00:16:55.01\00:16:56.34 We just did that for a little bit. 00:16:56.38\00:16:57.71 Well, what can I do for AWA? 00:16:57.75\00:16:59.08 Well, I don't know, what can you do? 00:16:59.11\00:17:00.45 And she said, "Well, I can sing." 00:17:00.48\00:17:02.85 And I said, "Okay." 00:17:02.88\00:17:05.59 And I'd had no idea how professional she is. 00:17:05.62\00:17:08.66 This woman sings like an angel. 00:17:08.69\00:17:11.26 You know, when she sings, birds stopped to listen to her. 00:17:11.29\00:17:14.50 And it's amazing, and so the first, 00:17:14.53\00:17:16.87 you know, we didn't do an audition, 00:17:16.90\00:17:18.23 but when she sent in her tape 00:17:18.27\00:17:19.77 I heard a little commercial 00:17:19.80\00:17:21.14 with I think on YouTube or something. 00:17:21.17\00:17:23.00 They sang a little thing 00:17:23.04\00:17:24.87 and I listened to that and I went, 00:17:24.91\00:17:26.44 "Oh, wow." 00:17:26.47\00:17:27.81 And so she started doing benefit concerts for us, 00:17:27.84\00:17:29.41 and then I learned... 00:17:29.44\00:17:30.78 The benefit concert that I sent you as reference. 00:17:30.81\00:17:32.15 Yeah. 00:17:32.18\00:17:33.58 That first concert that we did. Nice. 00:17:33.62\00:17:35.15 And so, then I learned more about her husband and, 00:17:35.18\00:17:38.79 you know, he's a quintessential aviation professional 00:17:38.82\00:17:42.09 in aircraft engineering and maintenance. 00:17:42.12\00:17:45.09 And so we had a desperate need for that. 00:17:45.13\00:17:48.16 And, so, you know, one of the things 00:17:48.20\00:17:50.57 that we have noticed that, 00:17:50.60\00:17:52.17 you know, throughout the years 00:17:52.20\00:17:54.00 that God gives us multiple talents, 00:17:54.04\00:17:56.00 most of professionals 00:17:56.04\00:17:57.71 that I know are, you know, bivocational, 00:17:57.74\00:18:00.21 trivocational, quadrivocational, 00:18:00.24\00:18:01.81 they have different things that we are capable of, 00:18:01.84\00:18:03.95 and 3ABN does that to an extent, 00:18:03.98\00:18:06.65 I mean, camera operators also make up our operators 00:18:06.68\00:18:09.25 and production supervisors and you guys do it all. 00:18:09.28\00:18:12.39 It's amazing to watch the people here work. 00:18:12.42\00:18:13.89 Right. 00:18:13.92\00:18:15.26 Well, most of that happens in most industries 00:18:15.29\00:18:17.93 as well in aviation. 00:18:17.96\00:18:19.76 And so, you know, Rebecca is not only a, 00:18:19.79\00:18:21.63 you know, a pilot in training but she's, 00:18:21.66\00:18:24.37 you know, multitalented spiritually 00:18:24.40\00:18:26.53 as well as physically. 00:18:26.57\00:18:28.10 And she's my executive assistant as well, 00:18:28.14\00:18:29.87 and her husband now is our director of maintenance. 00:18:29.90\00:18:33.34 So it's just, it's amazing the talents 00:18:33.38\00:18:34.88 that these guys have. 00:18:34.91\00:18:36.24 Absolutely. 00:18:36.28\00:18:37.61 And that would meant 00:18:37.65\00:18:38.98 for this specific calling that God has placed. 00:18:39.01\00:18:42.75 It's like he custom tailors us just for that. 00:18:42.78\00:18:44.49 Yeah. That's incredible. 00:18:44.52\00:18:45.85 Kyle, tell me a little bit about your background? 00:18:45.89\00:18:48.26 So I grew up in Springfield, Oregon, and raised there. 00:18:48.29\00:18:53.56 And like you, as a kid, I had aviation dream. 00:18:53.60\00:18:57.33 I wanted to be a pilot. 00:18:57.37\00:18:58.87 And, you know, the third grader 00:18:58.90\00:19:00.44 that came in to Career Day 00:19:00.47\00:19:03.24 dressed as a pilot, that was me. 00:19:03.27\00:19:04.64 Yes. 00:19:04.67\00:19:06.01 But, as I got older, I started to realize that... 00:19:06.04\00:19:09.14 My parents started to realize that I had a lot more talent 00:19:09.18\00:19:12.21 than even I think I realized 00:19:12.25\00:19:13.92 that I had a lot of mechanical skills 00:19:13.95\00:19:17.25 and I started to really want to just do everything aviation. 00:19:17.29\00:19:22.19 Like my goal when I got out of high school 00:19:22.22\00:19:24.19 was to just like major, 00:19:24.23\00:19:25.56 you know, if anyone could major in aviation, 00:19:25.59\00:19:27.40 that's what I wanted to do. 00:19:27.43\00:19:28.83 I wanted to do everything. 00:19:28.86\00:19:31.10 But so I started off 00:19:31.13\00:19:33.23 getting my what's called an airframe 00:19:33.27\00:19:34.90 and powerplant license. 00:19:34.94\00:19:36.27 Okay. 00:19:36.30\00:19:37.64 So I have actually, I have three 00:19:37.67\00:19:40.08 FAA licenses currently. 00:19:40.11\00:19:42.04 I have my airframe and powerplant license. 00:19:42.08\00:19:43.71 I have now a student pilot license. 00:19:43.75\00:19:46.61 I have the highest tier of aircraft maintenance, 00:19:46.65\00:19:49.72 which is the inspector's authorization, 00:19:49.75\00:19:52.29 which basically allows me to... 00:19:52.32\00:19:55.52 I can do major modifications and repairs to aircraft 00:19:55.56\00:19:59.09 and sign them off legally. 00:19:59.13\00:20:00.93 So it's a lot... 00:20:00.96\00:20:02.40 There's a lot of engineering that goes into that. 00:20:02.43\00:20:05.03 A lot of people don't realize that aircraft maintenance, 00:20:05.07\00:20:07.67 isn't just like, you know, working on a car. 00:20:07.70\00:20:11.07 Which is hard enough in of itself. 00:20:11.11\00:20:12.47 Yeah. 00:20:12.51\00:20:13.84 When you are in an airplane, you can't pull off 00:20:13.88\00:20:15.21 to the side of the road 00:20:15.24\00:20:16.58 and, you know, tinker on your car. 00:20:16.61\00:20:17.95 Yes, that's true. 00:20:17.98\00:20:19.31 So we do a lot of what's called preventative maintenance. 00:20:19.35\00:20:20.68 Got you. 00:20:20.72\00:20:22.05 So they're scheduled maintenance 00:20:22.08\00:20:23.42 on aircraft that we have to do, 00:20:23.45\00:20:25.62 called like a hundred hours and annual. 00:20:25.65\00:20:27.09 So every hundred flight hours, 00:20:27.12\00:20:28.46 we have to maintain an aircraft, 00:20:28.49\00:20:29.82 every year we have to do 00:20:29.86\00:20:31.29 special maintenance on aircraft. 00:20:31.33\00:20:32.66 Wow. 00:20:32.69\00:20:34.03 So that's kind of my main... 00:20:34.06\00:20:38.63 Function. 00:20:38.67\00:20:40.00 Yeah, Kyle takes care, 00:20:40.04\00:20:41.40 he's in charge of our entire fleet, 00:20:41.44\00:20:42.97 so yeah. 00:20:43.00\00:20:44.34 So in other words, you're very busy. 00:20:44.37\00:20:45.71 Yes. Yes. 00:20:45.74\00:20:47.08 But as for, you know, I didn't grow up Adventist. 00:20:47.11\00:20:50.15 Okay. 00:20:50.18\00:20:51.55 I grew up Christian, 00:20:51.58\00:20:54.08 but I kind of fell away from the church for, 00:20:54.12\00:20:57.09 for many years. 00:20:57.12\00:20:58.45 I got my first job working with the, 00:20:58.49\00:21:01.69 one of probably one of the largest flight schools 00:21:01.72\00:21:03.26 on the West Coast, which was at that time 00:21:03.29\00:21:05.19 Hillsboro Aviation. 00:21:05.23\00:21:06.56 Okay. 00:21:06.59\00:21:07.93 And I worked for them for 17 years 00:21:07.96\00:21:11.53 kind of working my way up. 00:21:11.57\00:21:13.47 I started as a mechanic 00:21:13.50\00:21:14.84 and I finished as a chief inspector. 00:21:14.87\00:21:17.34 Wow. 00:21:17.37\00:21:19.04 And so I have many years of aircraft maintenance 00:21:19.07\00:21:22.68 and management. 00:21:22.71\00:21:25.88 Seventeen plus. 00:21:25.91\00:21:27.32 I met my wife through a friend. 00:21:27.35\00:21:29.48 It's kind of a funny story because this friend of mine, 00:21:29.52\00:21:33.76 he's kind of known for poorly introducing people, 00:21:33.79\00:21:38.83 but not always the best, but he kind of warned me. 00:21:38.86\00:21:43.97 He's like, 'cause at that time 00:21:44.00\00:21:45.43 I wasn't a practicing Christian, but he warned me. 00:21:45.47\00:21:47.97 He's like, well, I, you know, I got to warn you, 00:21:48.00\00:21:50.07 Kyle, that she is, oh, 00:21:50.11\00:21:51.44 I can't really, really remember what the name is. 00:21:51.47\00:21:52.97 I think it's Seventh-day adventurist 00:21:53.01\00:21:55.41 or something like that, 00:21:55.44\00:21:56.98 I'm like Seventh day adventurist. 00:21:57.01\00:21:59.45 Well, that sounds interesting. 00:21:59.48\00:22:03.28 I did a little more searching and found out it was Adventist, 00:22:03.32\00:22:05.35 but obviously we're now married 00:22:05.39\00:22:08.66 and that she introduced me to the Adventist Church 00:22:08.69\00:22:11.09 and I honestly, 00:22:11.13\00:22:13.33 I just fell in love with the Adventist Church. 00:22:13.36\00:22:15.56 Yes. 00:22:15.60\00:22:17.03 So that's, I mean, I'm baptized now and... 00:22:17.07\00:22:19.40 Praise the Lord. Wow. 00:22:19.43\00:22:20.77 And he's head deacon in our church as well, so. 00:22:20.80\00:22:23.00 That's awesome. 00:22:23.04\00:22:24.37 Lord has been preparing 00:22:24.41\00:22:26.04 all of you for this specific role. 00:22:26.07\00:22:28.88 What's the mission of Adventist World Aviation? 00:22:28.91\00:22:32.88 So Adventist World Aviation, our mission is to reach 00:22:32.91\00:22:37.75 the unreached peoples of this world, 00:22:37.79\00:22:40.86 and to help the seemingly helpless. 00:22:40.89\00:22:44.43 We were, we had our roots in the church 00:22:44.46\00:22:48.03 back before the 90s. 00:22:48.06\00:22:51.20 The church itself was, 00:22:51.23\00:22:54.10 had grown significantly prior to, 00:22:54.14\00:22:56.94 really prior to the 70s in aviation, 00:22:56.97\00:22:59.31 and following one of the leaders 00:22:59.34\00:23:03.78 that helped found our church, Sister White and her husband 00:23:03.81\00:23:07.95 that help give good growth to our church. 00:23:07.98\00:23:10.22 The advice was used every method possible 00:23:10.25\00:23:11.99 to reach a soul. 00:23:12.02\00:23:13.39 And so we can with aviation 00:23:13.42\00:23:16.52 reach an interior of a country that most people don't get to. 00:23:16.56\00:23:21.00 It would take maybe up to three weeks, 00:23:21.03\00:23:23.33 maybe a month to reach interiors of some country. 00:23:23.37\00:23:25.67 In Brazil, for instance, it can take 00:23:25.70\00:23:27.97 even more than a month to get to some portions 00:23:28.00\00:23:30.67 of, of the Amazon that most people don't go to. 00:23:30.71\00:23:33.98 So, you know, but in aviation, 00:23:34.01\00:23:36.18 a flight where you can get there in a couple of hours. 00:23:36.21\00:23:38.51 And so we can reach, you know, we hear about, 00:23:38.55\00:23:40.95 like I mentioned earlier, the Quiet Hour, 00:23:40.98\00:23:42.62 we do evangelism all throughout the world, 00:23:42.65\00:23:44.62 but they usually go to the major cities. 00:23:44.65\00:23:46.62 The big question is what about 00:23:46.65\00:23:47.99 the interior that takes three, four, sometimes six weeks 00:23:48.02\00:23:50.59 to get to by boat or by donkey or whatever. 00:23:50.63\00:23:55.20 How do you reach them? 00:23:55.23\00:23:56.56 Well, we can reach them through aviation. 00:23:56.60\00:23:57.93 So that's an evangelistic tool. 00:23:57.97\00:24:00.04 Yes. 00:24:00.07\00:24:01.40 And so during the early 70s 00:24:01.44\00:24:05.81 and late, all through the late 80s, 00:24:05.84\00:24:09.34 we've seen a decline 00:24:09.38\00:24:10.71 in aviation support in the church. 00:24:10.75\00:24:12.41 And a lot of it was because of a couple accidents 00:24:12.45\00:24:14.88 that had happened inside of aviation. 00:24:14.92\00:24:16.95 And unfortunately when an accident happens 00:24:16.99\00:24:20.76 in aviation, everybody talks about it. 00:24:20.79\00:24:22.79 And the reason everybody talks about it 00:24:22.82\00:24:24.16 is because it's so unusual. 00:24:24.19\00:24:25.59 If I was... 00:24:25.63\00:24:26.96 I think you said you were from New York. 00:24:27.00\00:24:28.33 If I said, "Hey brother, 00:24:28.36\00:24:29.70 do you know that there was a car accident 00:24:29.73\00:24:31.07 this morning up in New York City 00:24:31.10\00:24:32.57 and it killed three people." 00:24:32.60\00:24:34.30 And you'd go, "Yeah, what hour?" 00:24:34.34\00:24:36.60 Yeah. 00:24:36.64\00:24:37.97 I don't want to make fun of that but, 00:24:38.01\00:24:39.34 you know, that's the reality. 00:24:39.37\00:24:40.71 Yeah. Car accidents, it's common. 00:24:40.74\00:24:42.44 And we don't talk about accidents 00:24:42.48\00:24:44.81 that maybe happen in Chicago or New York car accidents, 00:24:44.85\00:24:47.22 because it's so common. 00:24:47.25\00:24:48.58 But when an airplane, now, 00:24:48.62\00:24:49.95 if I would have said, an airplane, 00:24:49.98\00:24:51.32 landed on the highway 00:24:51.35\00:24:52.69 and it crashed and killed all three passengers. 00:24:52.72\00:24:54.19 Oh my goodness. 00:24:54.22\00:24:55.56 It makes, you know, worldwide news in some cases. 00:24:55.59\00:24:58.03 And the reason it makes news 00:24:58.06\00:24:59.39 is because it's not the normal statistically, 00:24:59.43\00:25:02.66 I think you're more statistically 00:25:02.70\00:25:05.23 likely to get killed in a broom sweeping accident 00:25:05.27\00:25:08.87 than you are in an aviation related accident. 00:25:08.90\00:25:10.81 But, you know, so it's a very safe industry, 00:25:10.84\00:25:13.54 but unfortunately what ends up happening 00:25:13.58\00:25:15.11 when something happens 00:25:15.14\00:25:18.01 it can diminish because of loss prevention concerns. 00:25:18.05\00:25:19.71 Got you. 00:25:19.75\00:25:21.08 And so our church was slowly closing down 00:25:21.12\00:25:23.35 aviation site after event, 00:25:23.39\00:25:24.72 closing different avenues of it. 00:25:24.75\00:25:26.86 Our GC president at the time was Elder Robert Folkenberg, 00:25:26.89\00:25:29.42 and I worked with Bob for many years in evangelism 00:25:29.46\00:25:32.59 and global evangelism before it became Share Him. 00:25:32.63\00:25:34.76 And Elder Folkenberg 00:25:34.80\00:25:37.80 was the founder of Adventist World Aviation. 00:25:37.83\00:25:40.60 He did it back when he was the president in the GC. 00:25:40.64\00:25:42.74 In 1993, he met with the conference officials 00:25:42.77\00:25:46.41 and his GC professionals, 00:25:46.44\00:25:47.78 they went out to or his GC office staff 00:25:47.81\00:25:49.98 went out to Andrews University 00:25:50.01\00:25:52.05 and they met there at Andrews University 00:25:52.08\00:25:54.72 and developed Adventist World Aviation. 00:25:54.75\00:25:56.08 Okay. 00:25:56.12\00:25:57.45 We are supporting ministry to the church, 00:25:57.49\00:25:59.19 we are Adventist Christians. 00:25:59.22\00:26:01.99 Most all of us are, you know, baptized members 00:26:02.02\00:26:04.79 in good standing with the church. 00:26:04.83\00:26:06.26 There's a few that work with us at periphery levels 00:26:06.29\00:26:08.83 that we're working with that they'll soon be Christians, 00:26:08.86\00:26:11.33 an Adventist Christians as well we hope, 00:26:11.37\00:26:12.93 but the idea is that we serve the church, 00:26:12.97\00:26:16.74 and we do that independent of the church. 00:26:16.77\00:26:18.61 So there's no liability for the church. 00:26:18.64\00:26:20.88 And so we're able to do things that they cannot do. 00:26:20.91\00:26:23.18 So you are a lay ministry? 00:26:23.21\00:26:25.31 Well, no, because all of us are professionals, but... 00:26:25.35\00:26:28.85 Well, yes. I got you. 00:26:28.88\00:26:30.42 Yeah, but we are a, we are a separate entity, 00:26:30.45\00:26:32.82 much like... 00:26:32.85\00:26:34.19 That's what I mean by that. 00:26:34.22\00:26:35.56 Much like, yeah, much like, but we are one of the few, 00:26:35.59\00:26:37.69 like 3ABN supporting 00:26:37.73\00:26:39.19 fully on supporting ministry to our church. 00:26:39.23\00:26:41.90 And we operate under the guidelines of, 00:26:41.93\00:26:45.33 you know, the Adventist Church and the faith, 00:26:45.37\00:26:46.90 and that's obviously important to us, 00:26:46.94\00:26:48.90 but our main mission is to reach the unreached 00:26:48.94\00:26:52.54 and we use aviation to accomplish that. 00:26:52.57\00:26:56.24 And most of the work that we do is life saving stuff. 00:26:56.28\00:26:59.31 So a lot of the things 00:26:59.35\00:27:00.68 that we do are medically related. 00:27:00.72\00:27:02.35 Okay. 00:27:02.38\00:27:03.72 In fact, in just a few minutes, 00:27:03.75\00:27:05.09 I'll tell you a story about a little girl, 00:27:05.12\00:27:06.45 a little boy that we just saved, 00:27:06.49\00:27:08.16 you know, participated in the saving of his life. 00:27:08.19\00:27:11.53 And an elderly person 00:27:11.56\00:27:13.40 that we flew back here after loss. 00:27:13.43\00:27:15.73 And so we deal 00:27:15.76\00:27:17.10 kind of have both ends of the spectrum 00:27:17.13\00:27:18.80 early life to saving life to a medical emergency evacs. 00:27:18.83\00:27:23.37 And when you do that in a third world country, 00:27:23.41\00:27:25.14 when they're not used to somebody caring enough 00:27:25.17\00:27:27.08 about them to literally save their life. 00:27:27.11\00:27:29.68 Not too many years ago, 00:27:29.71\00:27:31.95 you know, the first time 00:27:31.98\00:27:33.31 I heard of Adventist World Aviation, 00:27:33.35\00:27:34.68 I started watching what they do. 00:27:34.72\00:27:36.05 And I started watching some video clips, 00:27:36.08\00:27:37.42 and it happens all the time, but it wasn't that long ago, 00:27:37.45\00:27:40.56 just a few months back 00:27:40.59\00:27:43.09 a little girl was bit by a venomous snake. 00:27:43.12\00:27:46.96 And we had to transport 00:27:47.00\00:27:48.50 that little girl from the jungle, 00:27:48.53\00:27:50.37 basically into a medical facility 00:27:50.40\00:27:53.30 where she could get the anti-venom. 00:27:53.34\00:27:55.60 Well, under their current medical system, 00:27:55.64\00:27:57.21 even though they have, 00:27:57.24\00:27:58.57 you know, "paid medical services," 00:27:58.61\00:28:00.38 they don't have air transport, 00:28:00.41\00:28:02.34 she would have died. 00:28:02.38\00:28:03.71 There was just no hope because, 00:28:03.75\00:28:05.68 you know, the anti-venom wasn't available there. 00:28:05.71\00:28:07.98 And if it is available there, there's a shelf life on it. 00:28:08.02\00:28:10.32 So they can't always keep all this stuff. 00:28:10.35\00:28:11.69 So it's usually kept in the bigger cities, 00:28:11.72\00:28:13.59 which is sometimes, as I said, 00:28:13.62\00:28:14.96 you know, you're not going to make the three week journey 00:28:14.99\00:28:16.36 or the two week or even a two day journey. 00:28:16.39\00:28:18.19 You need to get there now. 00:28:18.23\00:28:19.56 So we loaded her up on the plane. 00:28:19.59\00:28:20.93 We flew her there, of course, saved her life 00:28:20.96\00:28:22.30 and then brought her back again. 00:28:22.33\00:28:24.10 And that's another challenge because many people said, 00:28:24.13\00:28:26.23 well, don't take anybody to the hospital 00:28:26.27\00:28:27.60 because that's where you go to die 00:28:27.64\00:28:28.97 or that's, you go there and you get lost there 00:28:29.00\00:28:30.91 because even if you can get transportation there, 00:28:30.94\00:28:32.94 the family doesn't have money to transport them back. 00:28:32.97\00:28:35.38 And so they ended up getting stuck in the city 00:28:35.41\00:28:37.48 for a lot of different reasons. 00:28:37.51\00:28:38.85 And so we'll bring them there, 00:28:38.88\00:28:40.22 but we also bring them back to their families 00:28:40.25\00:28:43.02 and then their families like, 00:28:43.05\00:28:44.39 wow, how could, why do you do this? 00:28:44.42\00:28:46.96 And it's because you're a child of God. 00:28:46.99\00:28:48.69 And, you know, you're just, you know, you're creation, 00:28:48.72\00:28:50.96 you're God's creation and you're God's jewels. 00:28:50.99\00:28:53.36 And so we do that for that reason. 00:28:53.40\00:28:55.76 It really opens the door 00:28:55.80\00:28:57.13 for a powerful witnessing opportunity. 00:28:57.17\00:28:59.03 Now they want to know more about this Jesus 00:28:59.07\00:29:01.00 that you just described as a creator. 00:29:01.04\00:29:02.50 And they just, well, tell me about this Jesus. 00:29:02.54\00:29:04.31 Okay. That's what we do. 00:29:04.34\00:29:05.67 And so then on the sidelines, 00:29:05.71\00:29:07.04 we sit down and we have Bible studies. 00:29:07.08\00:29:08.41 So we're trained to do that as well. 00:29:08.44\00:29:09.78 Yes, what kind of challenges 00:29:09.81\00:29:12.25 do you face in terms of finding a place to land? 00:29:12.28\00:29:15.62 Because, you know, when you're talking 00:29:15.65\00:29:17.85 about going three hours into the jungle and three ends, 00:29:17.89\00:29:20.89 all of these places, I would imagine 00:29:20.92\00:29:22.62 you're not going to see your major airport 00:29:22.66\00:29:24.79 or anything right there. 00:29:24.83\00:29:26.16 So where are you landing? 00:29:26.19\00:29:27.53 So it's good question. 00:29:27.56\00:29:29.30 We, first off, we have specially equipped aircraft 00:29:29.33\00:29:32.43 that our chief engineer 00:29:32.47\00:29:33.90 and a mechanic here of maintenance department. 00:29:33.94\00:29:38.04 They make sure that our planes 00:29:38.07\00:29:39.47 are number one in pristine condition, 00:29:39.51\00:29:40.84 but number two, 00:29:40.88\00:29:42.21 we install different things in them, 00:29:42.24\00:29:43.71 like a stol kit, S-T-O-L, 00:29:43.75\00:29:45.55 which stands for short takeoff and landing. 00:29:45.58\00:29:48.02 And we install those in and we can take 00:29:48.05\00:29:51.69 a fixed wing aircraft and land in an area 00:29:51.72\00:29:56.22 in a shorter distance, not quite like a helicopter 00:29:56.26\00:29:58.79 can, but approaching 00:29:58.83\00:30:00.16 very close helicopter abilities... 00:30:00.20\00:30:01.53 Okay. 00:30:01.56\00:30:02.90 Because of the stol kits that we put in, 00:30:02.93\00:30:05.17 the aircraft fly very slow before they land. 00:30:05.20\00:30:08.24 And it doesn't take much runway when we have the stol kit. 00:30:08.27\00:30:10.61 So first off, we make sure 00:30:10.64\00:30:12.37 that we have the right equipment 00:30:12.41\00:30:13.74 in the area that we go into. 00:30:13.78\00:30:15.11 The second thing, of course, we do, 00:30:15.14\00:30:16.48 we don't land anywhere we don't know. 00:30:16.51\00:30:18.21 So we have to do a lot of investigation. 00:30:18.25\00:30:20.88 And we usually have designated areas 00:30:20.92\00:30:22.92 that we pick out and say, okay, 00:30:22.95\00:30:24.29 you're going to have to make it over here 00:30:24.32\00:30:25.65 to this landing zone or this landing strip 00:30:25.69\00:30:27.62 or wherever that we have 00:30:27.66\00:30:28.99 predetermined that it's safe enough to land. 00:30:29.02\00:30:30.76 Okay. 00:30:30.79\00:30:32.13 And so, that does take some investigation work. 00:30:32.16\00:30:34.06 So sometimes when we go into a country, 00:30:34.10\00:30:36.43 we're not able to go right to work 00:30:36.46\00:30:38.60 because we have to determine airstrips in places we can, 00:30:38.63\00:30:41.40 I mean, we can take off and land 00:30:41.44\00:30:42.77 because there's some areas you can land okay, 00:30:42.80\00:30:44.94 but there's not enough room to take off 00:30:44.97\00:30:46.31 because it takes more to take off. 00:30:46.34\00:30:47.94 So we have to investigate all of that. 00:30:47.98\00:30:49.64 So it is a challenge, but we do navigate that. 00:30:49.68\00:30:52.85 What happens in those situations? 00:30:52.88\00:30:54.48 Have you ever encountered 00:30:54.52\00:30:55.85 where maybe you have landed in one of those places? 00:30:55.88\00:30:58.82 Cut it a little bit too close? 00:30:58.85\00:31:00.19 Well, we really that's where the pre... 00:31:00.22\00:31:03.63 The answer is no, we haven't, and I hope we never, 00:31:03.66\00:31:05.66 a lot of, you know, a lot of kids ask me, 00:31:05.69\00:31:07.30 tell me a story? 00:31:07.33\00:31:08.66 I don't have one, and I don't want one. 00:31:08.70\00:31:11.30 I never want a bad aviation related story. 00:31:11.33\00:31:13.70 I just don't want, you know, I've been blessed 00:31:13.74\00:31:16.40 and privileged to be able to fly, 00:31:16.44\00:31:18.77 but I don't want to have 00:31:18.81\00:31:20.14 the blessing of having a horrible story. 00:31:20.18\00:31:21.51 I've had some, some close calls 00:31:21.54\00:31:23.21 where the Lord got my attention. 00:31:23.24\00:31:25.48 Okay, but we really do a lot of legwork. 00:31:25.51\00:31:29.62 And it's really important to move at the speed of safety. 00:31:29.65\00:31:33.82 It frustrates some in the ministry when you say, 00:31:33.86\00:31:36.89 well, yeah, we're going to come help you, 00:31:36.93\00:31:38.26 but it's going to take the right amount of time. 00:31:38.29\00:31:40.70 We'll get there when we can, 00:31:40.73\00:31:42.63 because we're not going to move 00:31:42.66\00:31:44.00 any faster than the speed of safety allows us to move, 00:31:44.03\00:31:45.87 because when you think about it, 00:31:45.90\00:31:49.47 you know, these souls are precious. 00:31:49.50\00:31:51.37 These are our workers, 00:31:51.41\00:31:52.74 and these souls are saving other souls. 00:31:52.77\00:31:55.21 And so, not that there's more value 00:31:55.24\00:31:57.15 in one area or the other, 00:31:57.18\00:31:58.51 but, you know, are you going to risk a life to save a life? 00:31:58.55\00:32:01.52 I mean, maybe, but not if we can help it. 00:32:01.55\00:32:04.89 Yeah. Not hazardly. 00:32:04.92\00:32:06.76 Yeah, that's right. Yeah. 00:32:06.79\00:32:08.12 So we carefully plan everything out. 00:32:08.16\00:32:10.13 Okay. Good to know. 00:32:10.16\00:32:12.36 Now, how do you determine where to go on a mission? 00:32:12.39\00:32:16.36 Like, how does, how do you, 00:32:16.40\00:32:18.50 or how are you made aware of the needs? 00:32:18.53\00:32:20.77 So we get, we get calls all the time, 00:32:20.80\00:32:22.64 and that becomes heartbreaking from my position as president, 00:32:22.67\00:32:27.11 because the calls are endless, 00:32:27.14\00:32:30.31 you know, on our board, 00:32:30.35\00:32:31.68 we've had it, you know, up there, it's still up there, 00:32:31.71\00:32:33.95 but, you know, that's our theme for this year, 00:32:33.98\00:32:35.62 pray the Lord of harvest. 00:32:35.65\00:32:37.82 You know, because we're in constant need 00:32:37.85\00:32:39.32 of support workers, constant need of... 00:32:39.35\00:32:44.93 Obviously donations, that's, a big thing. 00:32:44.96\00:32:48.16 You know, it, aviation is expensive, 00:32:48.20\00:32:51.13 but in the end of the day, it's priceless. 00:32:51.17\00:32:53.34 So, we can't do anything without funding, obviously. 00:32:53.37\00:32:56.50 Yeah. 00:32:56.54\00:32:57.87 So funding is a huge part of it, 00:32:57.91\00:32:59.37 but the other thing is human resourcing. 00:32:59.41\00:33:02.98 As I said earlier, we get a lot of calls all the time. 00:33:03.01\00:33:05.01 You don't know, is this an emergency call 00:33:05.05\00:33:06.78 you're wanting to serve 00:33:06.82\00:33:08.15 because you're, you know, you just got out of prison 00:33:08.18\00:33:10.65 or, I don't know, you know, we've had those too. 00:33:10.69\00:33:12.69 So I'm, you know, I'm going to get out of prison here 00:33:12.72\00:33:14.76 pretty soon, and I want to serve the Lord. 00:33:14.79\00:33:16.12 Okay, great. 00:33:16.16\00:33:17.49 And, you know, we've had some really good people 00:33:17.53\00:33:20.10 that have come out of those situations 00:33:20.13\00:33:22.16 and become good workers for the Lord, 00:33:22.20\00:33:24.10 but you just don't know what their situation is. 00:33:24.13\00:33:25.93 Do they mean what they say? 00:33:25.97\00:33:27.90 And are they truly called? 00:33:27.94\00:33:29.34 Is this a real calling or... Or is this just a job? 00:33:29.37\00:33:32.64 And a lot of them are doing that too 00:33:32.67\00:33:34.01 and we get those, so. 00:33:34.04\00:33:35.91 That's one of the indicators to us 00:33:35.94\00:33:37.91 when we know we have somebody 00:33:37.95\00:33:39.45 and it just, the Lord really answers that. 00:33:39.48\00:33:41.38 It's just like these guys 00:33:41.42\00:33:42.88 that was crystal clear in my mind 00:33:42.92\00:33:44.52 that the Lord was calling, these guys were serious. 00:33:44.55\00:33:47.12 And when I extended the call to them, 00:33:47.16\00:33:48.89 he left, I mean, a glorious career. 00:33:48.92\00:33:50.79 He could have stayed there and, you know, 00:33:50.83\00:33:52.16 and he's going to come and work for a ministry that may, 00:33:52.19\00:33:54.10 you know, the money is less, and you know, 00:33:54.13\00:33:56.60 and even the glory in many ways is less for him. 00:33:56.63\00:33:59.90 But he and his wife, and Rebecca is the same way. 00:33:59.93\00:34:03.07 So, you know, we're in, we're in this all the way, 00:34:03.10\00:34:04.87 you know, this, and so that, well, 00:34:04.91\00:34:06.24 that's, that was a true indicator. 00:34:06.27\00:34:07.61 Yes. 00:34:07.64\00:34:08.98 And so, those are the indications that we need. 00:34:09.01\00:34:11.01 So we need the financing. 00:34:11.05\00:34:12.38 If the financing is there, then we move. 00:34:12.41\00:34:14.12 And then we start looking for the human resourcing. 00:34:14.15\00:34:15.95 And if God provides both of those areas, then we move. 00:34:15.98\00:34:18.92 And then the final step is, as I said, 00:34:18.95\00:34:20.86 we work with the conference 00:34:20.89\00:34:22.22 and the GC at every level we can. 00:34:22.26\00:34:25.13 If a conference wants us to do something great, we'll do it. 00:34:25.16\00:34:27.66 If they don't want us to do it, 00:34:27.70\00:34:29.03 well, we're not, there's no argument. 00:34:29.06\00:34:30.63 We're not, you know, 00:34:30.67\00:34:32.00 we've never, they've never said no, 00:34:32.03\00:34:33.37 they always appreciate our help. 00:34:33.40\00:34:34.74 But we want to make sure that we're in harmony working 00:34:34.77\00:34:36.81 with other Christians in the area. 00:34:36.84\00:34:39.17 And so we base it on those, basically those three, 00:34:39.21\00:34:43.14 that three criteria. 00:34:43.18\00:34:44.58 Make sense. 00:34:44.61\00:34:45.95 Kyle, what's a typical day look like for you 00:34:45.98\00:34:48.95 with preventative maintenance and all of that? 00:34:48.98\00:34:51.25 Well, we... 00:34:51.29\00:34:52.62 He's been busy lately. I've been very busy. 00:34:52.65\00:34:55.96 We've got about 20. Yeah. I'm going to answer this quick. 00:34:55.99\00:34:57.69 I'll let him answer, but we've had about 27 aircraft floating 00:34:57.73\00:35:00.20 out there and they all needed something, you know. 00:35:00.23\00:35:02.80 And it's all been dumped on him and he's got all these, 00:35:02.83\00:35:06.70 you know, mechanics and volunteer workers 00:35:06.74\00:35:08.50 and they're working with him and for him and yeah. 00:35:08.54\00:35:11.97 But, yeah, you know, a typical day, 00:35:12.01\00:35:13.54 I mean, we have over probably it varies, 00:35:13.58\00:35:16.68 but we have about 27 aircraft, like you said. 00:35:16.71\00:35:19.45 Currently at, in North Carolina 00:35:19.48\00:35:22.25 where our base is, we have about eight aircrafts. 00:35:22.28\00:35:25.25 Okay. 00:35:25.29\00:35:26.62 You know, in various stages of disarray and maintenance, 00:35:26.65\00:35:29.39 but some of those aircraft are donated, believe it or not. 00:35:29.42\00:35:33.40 Actually a lot of our aircrafts 00:35:33.43\00:35:34.76 that we receive are donated to us... 00:35:34.80\00:35:36.67 That's a blessing. 00:35:36.70\00:35:38.03 Which is, it's a very good blessing. 00:35:38.07\00:35:39.40 We wouldn't operate without that. 00:35:39.43\00:35:40.77 Yeah. 00:35:40.80\00:35:42.14 But currently I've been doing a lot of maintenance 00:35:42.17\00:35:44.91 to one of our 180, Cessna 182, it's a name of the aircraft. 00:35:44.94\00:35:50.48 It's scheduled to go to Nicaragua. 00:35:50.51\00:35:53.42 So basically what I'm doing is going through the airplane, 00:35:53.45\00:35:57.42 making sure everything, you know is in order. 00:35:57.45\00:35:59.62 And before we, because before you want to send an aircraft 00:35:59.65\00:36:03.39 to a foreign country, 00:36:03.43\00:36:05.29 you want to make sure everything is working order, 00:36:05.33\00:36:08.36 because I mean, 00:36:08.40\00:36:09.73 if something breaks in Nicaragua, 00:36:09.76\00:36:11.10 then I have to go to Nicaragua to fix, 00:36:11.13\00:36:13.64 or I have to get somebody to fix it in Nicaragua. 00:36:13.67\00:36:17.11 So that's typical day, 00:36:17.14\00:36:19.04 I'm doing repairs 00:36:19.07\00:36:21.24 and making sure everything is in order on that plane. 00:36:21.28\00:36:24.11 We've got two other aircraft in the hangar right now. 00:36:24.15\00:36:28.22 They're getting avionics upgrade. 00:36:28.25\00:36:31.09 So it's instruments in aircraft we're doing, 00:36:31.12\00:36:33.76 there's a lot of the aviation... 00:36:33.79\00:36:37.63 started in the 60s, right? 00:36:40.73\00:36:43.00 Fifties and sixties, so a lot of the gauges, everything, 00:36:43.03\00:36:46.00 the calls, they're called steam gauges, right? 00:36:46.03\00:36:47.70 They're old school analog gauges. 00:36:47.74\00:36:49.77 Got you. 00:36:49.80\00:36:51.14 But they're coming out with electronic gauges now 00:36:51.17\00:36:53.48 that are a whole lot more reliable and easier to read 00:36:53.51\00:36:56.54 for, you know, they take the stress down 00:36:56.58\00:36:57.91 on the pilot because you don't, 00:36:57.95\00:36:59.28 instead of looking at six gauges on the scan, 00:36:59.31\00:37:01.95 you can see it all in one 00:37:01.98\00:37:03.52 right in front of you with the digital. 00:37:03.55\00:37:05.22 And so we're doing some upgrades as we can. 00:37:05.25\00:37:08.82 As financing allow. 00:37:08.86\00:37:10.19 Financing allow but... 00:37:10.23\00:37:11.56 And that's huge because that guaranteed safety 00:37:11.59\00:37:15.46 and that again the safety of our pilots and our crew 00:37:15.50\00:37:18.70 or ground crew and our patients, 00:37:18.73\00:37:20.64 that's the utmost importance because we are, 00:37:20.67\00:37:23.91 you know, we're delivering them a Christian message of hope. 00:37:23.94\00:37:26.17 And man, if you kill them, there's no hope... 00:37:26.21\00:37:28.98 Yeah. 00:37:29.01\00:37:30.61 Except for the hope that Jesus is going to come 00:37:30.65\00:37:32.41 and resurrect them one day. 00:37:32.45\00:37:33.92 That's true. And so... 00:37:33.95\00:37:35.48 Tell me about some miracle stories? 00:37:35.52\00:37:37.69 Well we've got one coming up here. 00:37:37.72\00:37:39.85 I wanted to mention real quick about our logo. 00:37:39.89\00:37:41.56 You'd asked about our logo earlier. 00:37:41.59\00:37:42.92 Yes. 00:37:42.96\00:37:44.29 And I wanted to mention that real quick and you can see it. 00:37:44.33\00:37:46.09 I don't know if they've got it on the screen or not, 00:37:46.13\00:37:47.50 but our logo is AWA 00:37:47.53\00:37:49.16 and they struggled with it in the beginning 00:37:49.20\00:37:50.97 when Bob Folkenberg was developing this, 00:37:51.00\00:37:53.40 and because it had a lot of name recognition AWA to AWR 00:37:53.44\00:37:56.81 and it's just like, okay, 00:37:56.84\00:37:58.17 well maybe they'll get those confused. 00:37:58.21\00:37:59.54 And honestly, people do, 00:37:59.57\00:38:00.91 but please distinguish us from AWA and AWR 00:38:00.94\00:38:03.11 because we are two different entities 00:38:03.14\00:38:04.55 and we're not the same, it's a different president. 00:38:04.58\00:38:06.21 And, but you know, 00:38:06.25\00:38:07.98 the arch of course is the world, 00:38:08.02\00:38:12.32 and then the three is the three angels. 00:38:12.35\00:38:14.56 So we're delivering the three angels' message 00:38:14.59\00:38:16.16 all throughout the world, 00:38:16.19\00:38:17.53 and that happens through medevacs. 00:38:17.56\00:38:20.80 And so, you know, I got, basically two stories 00:38:20.83\00:38:26.27 I want to share with you, and we've got a video 00:38:26.30\00:38:28.00 that's gonna, 00:38:28.04\00:38:29.64 I think that they've got ready, that they can play right now. 00:38:29.67\00:38:31.61 I don't know if we can share that video. 00:38:31.64\00:38:32.97 I'll set it up real quick. 00:38:33.01\00:38:34.64 The first part of the video, 00:38:34.68\00:38:37.21 you'll see an airplane taking off 00:38:37.25\00:38:39.45 and that's a Cessna 185. 00:38:39.48\00:38:40.82 Kyle just described a 182, this is 185. 00:38:40.85\00:38:43.22 Very similar aircraft, 00:38:43.25\00:38:44.59 they, if you were, you know, 00:38:44.62\00:38:45.95 just to look at it at first glance, 00:38:45.99\00:38:47.32 you'd never know the difference, 00:38:47.36\00:38:48.69 except for this one's on floats. 00:38:48.72\00:38:50.06 It has amphibious, it can land on water and on land, 00:38:50.09\00:38:53.13 of course, 00:38:53.16\00:38:54.50 this one's going up to Sioux Lookout 00:38:54.53\00:38:55.90 to serve our Ontario Conference up there to serve 00:38:55.93\00:38:58.63 our First Nations people up there, 00:38:58.67\00:39:00.74 which are the indigenous peoples of Canada. 00:39:00.77\00:39:02.90 Okay. 00:39:02.94\00:39:04.27 North America, in here in the United States, 00:39:04.31\00:39:06.27 North America, we call them, you know, Native Americans, 00:39:06.31\00:39:09.61 up there they're First Nations. 00:39:09.64\00:39:11.31 And so the local natives, 00:39:11.35\00:39:13.18 and, and so that plane is going up there to do 00:39:13.21\00:39:14.58 the suicide prevention. 00:39:14.62\00:39:16.15 Medevacs bringing in medical services, 00:39:16.18\00:39:18.09 food supplies, you name it. 00:39:18.12\00:39:19.45 It's now up there our Ontario Conference. 00:39:19.49\00:39:22.56 We have an episode coming up here 00:39:22.59\00:39:24.86 on one of these Mondays, 00:39:24.89\00:39:26.46 I don't know, our show is aired every Monday 00:39:26.49\00:39:27.96 on 3ABN at 1 o'clock. 00:39:28.00\00:39:29.33 And that's called Off the Grid. Let's take a look at that. 00:40:04.93\00:40:06.33 So, we are on our last leg of our journey, 00:40:28.62\00:40:31.69 now we're almost to Charlotte. 00:40:31.73\00:40:33.66 And we've been 00:40:33.70\00:40:36.03 talking to Elizabeth about little Walter, 00:40:36.06\00:40:37.87 and of course he's been doing chemo. 00:40:37.90\00:40:40.74 So do you understand the name of the chemo 00:40:40.77\00:40:44.51 that they are doing? 00:40:44.54\00:40:46.01 They are actually going to be working on this new trial 00:40:46.04\00:40:52.75 as soon as they do another cycle 00:40:52.78\00:40:57.89 of the current standard relapse chemo. 00:40:57.92\00:41:04.69 He's got one more of those. 00:41:04.73\00:41:06.83 Then he's going to do a reflector, 00:41:06.86\00:41:09.16 and I'm not sure of the actual physical name 00:41:09.20\00:41:13.34 they have for it but it's a vaccine 00:41:13.37\00:41:19.01 that they will be using and they mix it with chemo, 00:41:19.04\00:41:24.81 and then later on, as soon as that is successful, 00:41:24.85\00:41:30.52 he will be getting what they call MIBG therapy. 00:41:30.55\00:41:36.19 MIBG therapy is where they sedate them 00:41:36.22\00:41:40.40 and they get high doses of radiation. 00:41:40.43\00:41:43.77 We will continue to pray for him and we'll keep up, 00:41:47.64\00:41:50.57 stay up with you and find out how things are progressing. 00:41:50.61\00:41:54.71 Okay. 00:41:54.74\00:41:56.08 Well, we're here at the destination, 00:41:56.11\00:41:57.45 final destination. 00:41:57.48\00:41:58.81 We have flown all the way from Milwaukee, 00:41:58.85\00:42:01.48 Wisconsin to Charlotte, North Carolina. 00:42:01.52\00:42:03.89 We stopped in Madison, Indiana. 00:42:03.92\00:42:06.96 I had a nice little stop along the way there, 00:42:06.99\00:42:09.22 and we're at the final destination here 00:42:09.26\00:42:12.49 at the Inn and Suites 00:42:12.53\00:42:14.56 where she will make this extended stay 00:42:14.60\00:42:17.27 for a while until they find housing 00:42:17.30\00:42:19.57 for little Walter. 00:42:19.60\00:42:20.94 We're going to have prayer with them now 00:42:20.97\00:42:22.30 and send them on their way. 00:42:22.34\00:42:24.47 So I have, of course, Kyle Stevenson here. 00:42:24.51\00:42:26.91 He was my flight engineer on the way up. 00:42:26.94\00:42:29.01 Anyway we are finally here 00:42:29.04\00:42:32.15 with Walter and Elizabeth, 00:42:32.18\00:42:36.52 and Kyle, you know, we're proud to serve them. 00:42:36.55\00:42:40.26 So we're going to pray for them right now. 00:42:40.29\00:42:42.29 Yeah, he's happy, he's here. 00:42:42.32\00:42:45.03 So he's happy to be with his grandma. 00:42:45.06\00:42:47.90 So we're going to pray for them and let's pray together. 00:42:47.93\00:42:50.67 Father in heaven, I just pray that You'll bless 00:42:50.70\00:42:53.54 Walter and bless Elizabeth and bless Destiny and Barb, 00:42:53.57\00:42:58.17 and this whole family. 00:42:58.21\00:42:59.54 And may you heal little Walter. 00:42:59.57\00:43:01.88 Father, we know that You're the father 00:43:01.91\00:43:03.55 of healing of all things. 00:43:03.58\00:43:05.01 And, we know that all as You said to do was just ask 00:43:05.05\00:43:09.45 and believe in Your name, and it will be done 00:43:09.48\00:43:13.05 if we just have the faith of a grain of mustard seed. 00:43:13.09\00:43:15.59 So, Father, we all spiritually 00:43:15.62\00:43:18.36 lay our hands on this little fellow. 00:43:18.39\00:43:20.50 We pray that You'll heal him, make him strong. 00:43:20.53\00:43:24.57 Thank you for doing it. We love you. 00:43:24.60\00:43:27.04 Make all the cancer go away in Jesus' name. 00:43:27.07\00:43:30.11 Amen. 00:43:30.14\00:43:31.47 Wow. 00:43:35.54\00:43:36.88 Little Walter, Rebecca, how's he doing now? 00:43:36.91\00:43:40.55 He is doing absolutely amazing 00:43:40.58\00:43:42.88 because he was able to come down 00:43:42.92\00:43:44.49 and get the treatment that he needed in Charlotte. 00:43:44.52\00:43:47.16 He has made extraordinary improvements. 00:43:47.19\00:43:50.19 I don't even think they were anticipating. 00:43:50.23\00:43:51.89 God hears our prayers and He answers. 00:43:51.93\00:43:54.80 So Walter is doing better, but keep praying for him 00:43:54.83\00:43:57.47 and his family as they're getting 00:43:57.50\00:43:58.87 closer to God through this whole experience. 00:43:58.90\00:44:00.67 Yes. 00:44:00.70\00:44:02.04 It was a real blessing to do that journey. 00:44:02.07\00:44:03.87 Kyle was my... 00:44:03.91\00:44:05.24 I was so happy. 00:44:05.27\00:44:07.04 I told you earlier in the green room there, 00:44:07.08\00:44:09.34 we were talking about that trip up there. 00:44:09.38\00:44:11.55 The weather was not pretty going up to get Walter. 00:44:11.58\00:44:14.38 We almost didn't take the trip 00:44:14.42\00:44:17.12 and, you know, Kyle's a pilot as well. 00:44:17.15\00:44:20.26 And, of course, with maintenance, 00:44:20.29\00:44:21.62 I could use him as 00:44:21.66\00:44:22.99 a flight engineer as I flew up there. 00:44:23.02\00:44:24.36 So he could, I knew we were going to be 00:44:24.39\00:44:25.76 in inclement weather all the way. 00:44:25.79\00:44:27.56 In fact it was about half the journey, 00:44:27.60\00:44:29.06 about two hours of, of total IMC, 00:44:29.10\00:44:31.47 where just nothing out the window, 00:44:31.50\00:44:32.83 but raining milk. 00:44:32.87\00:44:34.20 You know, that's what it looks like. 00:44:34.24\00:44:35.57 It just looks like somebody sprayed your windshield 00:44:35.60\00:44:36.94 with milk. 00:44:36.97\00:44:38.31 You can't see a thing out there. 00:44:38.34\00:44:39.67 And so, I was comfortable flying out of there 00:44:39.71\00:44:41.34 and we had 700 foot ceilings, 00:44:41.38\00:44:43.95 but we probably wouldn't have normally taken that journey 00:44:43.98\00:44:46.48 had not been for, for little Walter. 00:44:46.51\00:44:48.25 And so, Kyle went up there 00:44:48.28\00:44:49.95 and Kyle was the photographer on most of the shots 00:44:49.98\00:44:53.22 that you saw there. 00:44:53.25\00:44:54.59 And I think he shot the video through as well, 00:44:54.62\00:44:56.39 but yeah, it was such a blessing. 00:44:56.42\00:44:59.49 You know, to have Kyle along with me on 00:44:59.53\00:45:01.90 that gave me good peace of mind that, hey, I can fly the plane. 00:45:01.93\00:45:04.70 He can take care 00:45:04.73\00:45:06.07 of the engineering of the aircraft, 00:45:06.10\00:45:07.44 making sure that all things are well and it worked out well 00:45:07.47\00:45:09.07 because we had some new instruments 00:45:09.10\00:45:10.51 on there that one of them was flickering in and out. 00:45:10.54\00:45:13.34 And he's tapping on gauges and twisting 00:45:13.38\00:45:15.31 and, you know, doing the stuff that engine... 00:45:15.34\00:45:17.25 Flight engineers do and making sure 00:45:17.28\00:45:18.88 that everything was well, 00:45:18.91\00:45:20.25 and we had a great trip up there. 00:45:20.28\00:45:21.62 And, of course, when we flew the patient back, 00:45:21.65\00:45:22.98 we made sure we had great weather. 00:45:23.02\00:45:24.62 And so little Walter is, yeah, he's doing well. 00:45:24.65\00:45:28.02 And it turns out little Walter was a, he's Native American. 00:45:28.06\00:45:31.16 We didn't know. 00:45:31.19\00:45:32.53 I mean, when we asked, we don't care. 00:45:32.56\00:45:34.40 I don't even, you know, we don't ask 00:45:34.43\00:45:36.03 what brand you are, it doesn't matter. 00:45:36.06\00:45:38.27 You're human life created by God. 00:45:38.30\00:45:39.87 And so, but little Walter is a Chippewa. 00:45:39.90\00:45:43.24 And we introduced that family now, 00:45:43.27\00:45:47.24 Elizabeth, his grandmother was in the video there 00:45:47.28\00:45:49.91 to our Native American ministry coordinator in the Carolinas. 00:45:49.94\00:45:54.12 And they are currently studying right now 00:45:54.15\00:45:56.02 and she's starting to attend a church. 00:45:56.05\00:45:59.05 You know, she had been raised differently, 00:45:59.09\00:46:01.72 you know, not as an Adventist Christian, 00:46:01.76\00:46:03.39 but she'd been raised differently 00:46:03.43\00:46:04.76 and her family are now starting to study with us 00:46:04.79\00:46:07.30 and they are so grateful that we are participant. 00:46:07.33\00:46:10.07 And then also we, the second part of the flight 00:46:10.10\00:46:14.14 was with Chris my neighbor who lost her stepmother. 00:46:14.17\00:46:19.87 And we flew her dad back to live with her. 00:46:19.91\00:46:23.28 And that just touched her heart. 00:46:23.31\00:46:24.65 And now she's in studies with us as well. 00:46:24.68\00:46:27.22 So we're studying about the Sabbath right now. 00:46:27.25\00:46:28.58 She had questions. 00:46:28.62\00:46:29.95 So I had her read Genesis Chapter 1 and Chapter 2, 00:46:29.98\00:46:32.19 and she's learning of course about the Sabbath 00:46:32.22\00:46:33.96 and the God of creation. 00:46:33.99\00:46:35.32 And, you know, she asked me about the, 00:46:35.36\00:46:37.26 you know, well, it doesn't seem to me that that was right, 00:46:37.29\00:46:40.36 that serpent did that. 00:46:40.40\00:46:41.90 How did that all start? 00:46:41.93\00:46:43.26 And so now we've been studying the origin of evil 00:46:43.30\00:46:45.20 and she's just so in tuned to that, 00:46:45.23\00:46:46.77 and just, it just all makes sense to her 00:46:46.80\00:46:48.94 and the Sabbath is making sense to her 00:46:48.97\00:46:50.64 and the whole thing. 00:46:50.67\00:46:52.01 And so Christianity just is, is boiling over in their lives 00:46:52.04\00:46:55.21 because of the opportunity of saving their life, yeah. 00:46:55.24\00:46:58.15 This is practical Christianity. It is. Yeah. 00:46:58.18\00:47:00.32 Yes, and it's really like Christ method. 00:47:00.35\00:47:03.22 Yeah. Yeah, so powerful. 00:47:03.25\00:47:04.59 You just open the door, that's all it requires. 00:47:04.62\00:47:06.82 And so, we have been blessed over the years. 00:47:06.86\00:47:10.09 We survive by donors. 00:47:10.13\00:47:13.63 Just recently this year, it's been a busy year, 00:47:13.66\00:47:15.40 of course, on the next couple of episodes on 3ABN and on Off 00:47:15.43\00:47:19.23 The Grid at 1 o'clock on Mondays you will start, 00:47:19.27\00:47:22.24 you'll see what we've been challenged 00:47:22.27\00:47:24.04 with through this year of COVID. 00:47:24.07\00:47:26.47 And in spite of all of that, 00:47:26.51\00:47:29.08 our donors have been very gracious. 00:47:29.11\00:47:30.61 Before COVID broke out, 00:47:30.65\00:47:32.51 we were able to pick up two airplanes 00:47:32.55\00:47:34.28 and I've got a couple of pictures, 00:47:34.32\00:47:35.68 one I'm shaking a man's hand. 00:47:35.72\00:47:37.75 And you'll see on there. 00:47:37.79\00:47:39.79 That's Michael Hamlin, 00:47:39.82\00:47:43.36 and Michael is just a wonderful servant of God. 00:47:43.39\00:47:47.10 He's a, I think he's a Baptist 00:47:47.13\00:47:48.86 and a Christian and loves the Lord 00:47:48.90\00:47:51.47 and he wanted to donate his plane. 00:47:51.50\00:47:55.30 And, so, 00:47:55.34\00:47:58.14 you know, he dedicated, that's one of the planes 00:47:58.17\00:48:01.21 that Kyle's going to be fixing up. 00:48:01.24\00:48:03.51 We're not sure where we're going to put that, 00:48:03.55\00:48:04.88 or if we're going to put that into service or sell it 00:48:04.91\00:48:07.35 to help augment what we do, 00:48:07.38\00:48:09.78 but the graciousness of those donations 00:48:09.82\00:48:12.15 have made it happen. 00:48:12.19\00:48:14.02 And then the other one was, 00:48:14.06\00:48:15.39 his name is Bill Day, William Day. 00:48:15.42\00:48:17.33 And he's a member of our Birmingham, Alabama. 00:48:17.36\00:48:20.96 I think it's Birmingham. 00:48:21.00\00:48:22.33 Yeah, Birmingham, Alabama Church, a good... 00:48:22.36\00:48:24.47 Yeah, there's Bill right there. 00:48:24.50\00:48:26.33 And he just donated his Cherokee 180 00:48:26.37\00:48:30.34 and you know, so these, these things happen. 00:48:30.37\00:48:33.68 And so with those donations, 00:48:33.71\00:48:35.48 we're able to take these kinds of flights, 00:48:35.51\00:48:36.85 were able to get this kind of stuff done, 00:48:36.88\00:48:38.58 and people think, well, 00:48:38.61\00:48:39.95 you know, my little donation isn't going to mean it. 00:48:39.98\00:48:42.05 And, you know, 'cause I'm, well, 00:48:42.08\00:48:43.42 I can only afford $20 a month or $50 a month, but that's... 00:48:43.45\00:48:46.69 It adds up. Yeah, that adds up. 00:48:46.72\00:48:49.32 You know, that flight that we took little Walter on, 00:48:49.36\00:48:52.53 you know, I think we figured it costs us about 365 bucks 00:48:52.56\00:48:55.26 from point A to point B, you know, one way it was, 00:48:55.30\00:48:57.50 you know, 700 to 800 bucks round trip, 00:48:57.53\00:48:59.87 but, you know, to save, you know, well, 00:48:59.90\00:49:02.04 I shouldn't say we saved his life, 00:49:02.07\00:49:03.44 but we, we've quality improved his life. 00:49:03.47\00:49:05.74 He's getting treatment now 00:49:05.77\00:49:07.11 that hopefully will save his life 00:49:07.14\00:49:08.48 and I believe God will save his life. 00:49:08.51\00:49:10.55 And so, for $365, 00:49:10.58\00:49:13.65 we were able to make that flight 00:49:13.68\00:49:15.02 and take that and improve his life. 00:49:15.05\00:49:16.55 And what's the reward... 00:49:16.58\00:49:18.89 That's priceless. Yeah, it is. 00:49:18.92\00:49:20.66 It's absolutely priceless. 00:49:20.69\00:49:22.02 It's eternal investment. 00:49:22.06\00:49:23.53 Oh, absolutely. 00:49:23.56\00:49:25.66 I want to recap over the needs of your organization 00:49:25.69\00:49:28.86 because our time is escaping us. 00:49:28.90\00:49:30.57 So I want to recap over the needs. 00:49:30.60\00:49:33.07 What do you need as an organization? 00:49:33.10\00:49:35.40 So, the first thing we need is, is workers, 00:49:35.44\00:49:38.61 so pray the Lord of harvest. 00:49:38.64\00:49:40.44 The last, this last year has been very challenging 00:49:40.48\00:49:42.88 because of the COVID-19 obviously. 00:49:42.91\00:49:45.48 Some of our countries have been on total lockdown 00:49:45.51\00:49:48.32 while others have, we've been able to work in, 00:49:48.35\00:49:51.35 but we're limited, 00:49:51.39\00:49:52.72 we're locked down inside the country. 00:49:52.75\00:49:54.22 So we've had, you know, some cases, 00:49:54.26\00:49:55.89 I haven't been able to get Kyle to get our planes up 00:49:55.92\00:49:59.06 and running in Guyana, 00:49:59.09\00:50:00.53 but I can't get my missionaries there either. 00:50:00.56\00:50:01.93 It just now opened. 00:50:01.96\00:50:03.30 So we're going to be sending some missionaries back there. 00:50:03.33\00:50:05.63 Nicaragua, we've got a pilot 00:50:05.67\00:50:07.80 and his family ready to go and be deployed, 00:50:07.84\00:50:10.27 but, you know, the walls are up. 00:50:10.31\00:50:12.37 We're waiting for them to be deployed. 00:50:12.41\00:50:14.24 And, of course, we need money for deployment 00:50:14.28\00:50:15.68 to get them there as well. 00:50:15.71\00:50:17.05 Because again, 00:50:17.08\00:50:18.41 like everybody else during this time 00:50:18.45\00:50:19.78 if, you know, this year, we've, our finances 00:50:19.81\00:50:22.58 have come down way down and we need that help. 00:50:22.62\00:50:27.86 But the Lord of harvest will provide that. 00:50:27.89\00:50:29.82 So missionary resources 00:50:29.86\00:50:32.09 and finances to make that happen, 00:50:32.13\00:50:34.10 so we can get into, back into the field 00:50:34.13\00:50:35.83 and get these things open and operating, 00:50:35.86\00:50:38.30 you know, at 100% again. 00:50:38.33\00:50:39.67 And so, we're doing it the best we can right now. 00:50:39.70\00:50:42.50 And we're saving lives still right now. 00:50:42.54\00:50:44.21 We're doing a lot of ground transportation 00:50:44.24\00:50:45.91 right now in areas that we can't fly anymore, but... 00:50:45.94\00:50:48.88 Yes, and aviation is not an area 00:50:48.91\00:50:51.15 where you necessarily want to cut corners either, so. 00:50:51.18\00:50:53.21 No. No. 00:50:53.25\00:50:54.58 Yeah, you don't want to play with that. 00:50:54.62\00:50:56.02 Now, do you have to be a pilot to... 00:50:56.05\00:50:58.42 You do not. 00:50:58.45\00:50:59.79 Now that's a good question 00:50:59.82\00:51:01.16 that you do not need to be a pilot to be 00:51:01.19\00:51:02.96 a worker or a member of Adventist World Aviation. 00:51:02.99\00:51:06.56 We have a variety of different ground crew. 00:51:06.59\00:51:09.53 We've hired some pastors in local areas 00:51:09.56\00:51:12.40 that are working on boots on the ground, 00:51:12.43\00:51:14.27 doing ministry locally with the indigenous people 00:51:14.30\00:51:17.24 that we've either flown or, 00:51:17.27\00:51:19.64 you know, to have a little different professional level 00:51:19.67\00:51:21.71 working with them or medical professionals. 00:51:21.74\00:51:25.01 We've had medical professionals work with us in the field. 00:51:25.05\00:51:27.78 Whatever your talents are, you know, 00:51:27.82\00:51:30.12 the Lord can use you somewhere in the field. 00:51:30.15\00:51:31.75 It's about willingness to be deployed. 00:51:31.79\00:51:34.16 Absolutely, 00:51:34.19\00:51:35.52 and that willingness God will use, 00:51:35.56\00:51:37.79 and He's prepared each and every one of you 00:51:37.83\00:51:39.73 for this position. 00:51:39.76\00:51:41.10 We're going to go to your address roll 00:51:41.13\00:51:42.53 real quick, and then to a short news break, 00:51:42.56\00:51:44.40 and we'll be right back 00:51:44.43\00:51:47.34 For more information about Adventist World Aviation, 00:51:47.37\00:51:50.81 please contact them at their website, flyAWA.org. 00:51:50.84\00:51:55.31 That's flyAWA.org. 00:51:55.34\00:51:58.35 Their email address is info@FlyAWA.org. 00:51:58.38\00:52:02.45 That's info@FlyAWA.org. 00:52:02.48\00:52:06.35 Their telephone number is (919) 938-2920. 00:52:06.39\00:52:11.69 That's (919) 938-2920. 00:52:11.73\00:52:16.70 And their mailing address is 3457, 00:52:16.73\00:52:19.53 Swift Creek Road, Corp 3, 00:52:19.57\00:52:22.64 Smithfield, North Carolina 27577. 00:52:22.67\00:52:26.24
