Yes. 00:03:42.18\00:03:43.99 And, Clive, you do incredible work. 00:03:44.02\00:03:46.12 The cinematography of Lineage is amazing. 00:03:46.15\00:03:49.92 So thank you for what you do. 00:03:49.96\00:03:51.93 And maybe someone's just watching 00:03:51.96\00:03:53.29 and saying, I don't even know what Lineage is. 00:03:53.33\00:03:55.16 So tell us what are the goals and aims of Lineage? 00:03:55.20\00:04:01.20 Go for it, Clive. 00:04:01.24\00:04:02.84 Okay, so we really wanted to create a resource 00:04:02.87\00:04:05.74 that translated history. 00:04:05.77\00:04:07.84 Often we read some of these books, 00:04:07.88\00:04:09.28 we read the Bible, we read the Great Controversy, 00:04:09.31\00:04:11.61 read Adventist history, 00:04:11.65\00:04:13.15 and we don't really get to see the location, 00:04:13.18\00:04:15.75 but it doesn't really bring it to life for 00:04:15.78\00:04:17.82 you know, younger audience or even older audience 00:04:17.85\00:04:19.85 who maybe are not able to go to these places. 00:04:19.89\00:04:22.16 So we're trying to translate these places 00:04:22.19\00:04:23.63 make it relevant to people today, 00:04:23.66\00:04:26.19 making appeals to them, 00:04:26.23\00:04:27.56 and how this information impacts their lives. 00:04:27.60\00:04:30.53 And we're trying to make this show bearable 00:04:30.57\00:04:33.54 and applicable so... 00:04:33.57\00:04:36.17 Oh, yeah. It's so well received. 00:04:36.20\00:04:38.04 Now, Adam, we see you, you know, on camera, 00:04:38.07\00:04:40.88 you're the main host for lineage. 00:04:40.91\00:04:43.51 What drove you to even do something like this, 00:04:43.55\00:04:46.98 to start Lineage? 00:04:47.02\00:04:48.72 It's Clive's fault, 00:04:48.75\00:04:52.15 because it actually wasn't my idea. 00:04:52.19\00:04:55.02 Clive is the one that approached me 00:04:55.06\00:04:56.46 with the initial idea. 00:04:56.49\00:04:59.03 And I was like, hey, that's a great idea. 00:04:59.06\00:05:00.40 Let's work on it. 00:05:00.43\00:05:01.76 And then, you know, the two of us work on it 00:05:01.80\00:05:03.13 from there. 00:05:03.16\00:05:04.50 So I always had a passion for history. 00:05:04.53\00:05:07.47 I was, I work as a youth director. 00:05:07.50\00:05:09.30 So I'm working to young people. 00:05:09.34\00:05:10.67 And so, the desire to have young people 00:05:10.71\00:05:12.41 know their history 00:05:12.44\00:05:13.78 and how that connects to their identity 00:05:13.81\00:05:16.31 and their mission and purpose in life. 00:05:16.34\00:05:18.95 It's something that just kind of 00:05:18.98\00:05:20.58 dovetailed together perfectly. 00:05:20.62\00:05:22.55 So once we came up with the idea, 00:05:22.58\00:05:25.09 it was just something we, 00:05:25.12\00:05:26.82 you know, flew from there, 00:05:26.86\00:05:28.72 and Lord blessed and multiplied it. 00:05:28.76\00:05:30.86 Amen. 00:05:30.89\00:05:32.23 Now, I know you're just launching Season 3, 00:05:32.26\00:05:33.73 and we have a trailer we want to go to shortly. 00:05:33.76\00:05:35.53 But before we go to that, 00:05:35.56\00:05:37.00 tell us what Season 1 and Season 2 are about 00:05:37.03\00:05:39.80 before we jump into Season 3? 00:05:39.83\00:05:42.20 Sure, season... 00:05:42.24\00:05:43.57 You can too. 00:05:46.98\00:05:48.31 Season 1 was the history of the Reformation. 00:05:48.34\00:05:52.08 It was in 2017, 00:05:52.11\00:05:53.52 which was the year of the Reformation, 00:05:53.55\00:05:54.88 the 500th anniversary of Luther, 00:05:54.92\00:05:56.95 but instead of it just being one video, 00:05:56.99\00:05:59.02 then we built chronologically from January 00:05:59.05\00:06:01.86 all the way through the year 00:06:01.89\00:06:03.39 and it's 40 episodes on the early church, 00:06:03.43\00:06:05.89 the Middle Ages, the Reformation. 00:06:05.93\00:06:09.36 And all the way up to 17, 1800. 00:06:09.40\00:06:14.24 Okay. 00:06:14.27\00:06:15.60 As we kind of transition into Season 2, 00:06:15.64\00:06:19.47 you know, the Reformation didn't really end, 00:06:19.51\00:06:21.01 the Puritans came over on the Mayflower 00:06:21.04\00:06:23.35 and the work kind of, 00:06:23.38\00:06:25.41 the work kind of continued in America. 00:06:25.45\00:06:27.38 And birthed out of that was Adventist history. 00:06:27.42\00:06:30.29 So we kind of, you know, 00:06:30.32\00:06:31.65 continued the birth of Adventist history 00:06:31.69\00:06:33.29 and how that message spread across America, 00:06:33.32\00:06:35.59 and then aggressively across the whole world. 00:06:35.62\00:06:39.16 So today, in our segment here, we've got a number of rolls, 00:06:39.19\00:06:41.83 we want to go to. 00:06:41.86\00:06:43.20 Jill talks about a trailer. 00:06:43.23\00:06:44.57 So one of you tell us we're getting ready to see 00:06:44.60\00:06:46.53 what the trailer for Season 3. 00:06:46.57\00:06:47.94 Go for it, Adam. 00:06:50.97\00:06:54.38 It's a snapshot of all the places 00:06:54.41\00:06:55.91 we filmed in Season 3 00:06:55.94\00:06:57.38 was mainly the Middle East, 00:06:57.41\00:07:00.12 covering the areas 00:07:00.15\00:07:01.85 that the Bible was written and applicable to. 00:07:01.88\00:07:04.35 So it's an overview of that, 00:07:04.39\00:07:06.76 and introducing people 00:07:06.79\00:07:08.32 to what they were going to see up, coming up. 00:07:08.36\00:07:10.36 That's awesome. 00:07:10.39\00:07:11.73 So let's take a look at that right now. 00:07:11.76\00:07:13.09 Some amazing cinematography there. 00:08:32.37\00:08:34.54 I love that. 00:08:34.58\00:08:35.91 Know your history, know your mission, 00:08:35.94\00:08:37.28 know your origin. 00:08:37.31\00:08:38.81 I think that was all the hashtags 00:08:38.85\00:08:40.42 at the bottom there. 00:08:40.45\00:08:42.12 So Season 1 is Reformation. 00:08:42.15\00:08:43.62 Season Two was Adventism. 00:08:43.65\00:08:45.35 Season 3 would be history of the world? 00:08:45.39\00:08:48.82 History of the Bible really. 00:08:48.86\00:08:51.56 From the beginning. 00:08:51.59\00:08:53.43 So when did you, have you found everything yet 00:08:53.46\00:08:56.87 or were you in the process? 00:08:56.90\00:08:59.60 We, Season 3 is broken into four segments, 00:08:59.63\00:09:04.31 which will add up to a total of 70 episodes. 00:09:04.34\00:09:07.94 I think we filmed 00:09:07.98\00:09:09.38 about 50 of them, maybe less. 00:09:09.41\00:09:16.18 We would have finished them probably by now. 00:09:16.22\00:09:17.72 But COVID-19 travel restrictions 00:09:17.75\00:09:19.62 have hampered. 00:09:19.65\00:09:20.99 We need to get back to Israel, 00:09:21.02\00:09:22.36 but the whole country is on lockdown. 00:09:22.39\00:09:24.19 And there's a few of the places we need to go. 00:09:24.23\00:09:26.03 But the bulk of its done. 00:09:26.06\00:09:28.20 But there's a few things that need to do still. 00:09:28.23\00:09:31.37 So we talked about why Season 1, why Season 2, 00:09:31.40\00:09:34.50 why Season 3 on the Bible. 00:09:34.54\00:09:36.17 Why did you pick that? 00:09:36.20\00:09:39.67 The story of the Great Controversy, 00:09:39.71\00:09:41.88 in the sense between Christ and Satan as it turned, 00:09:41.91\00:09:44.51 as it played out over time is what we wanted to share. 00:09:44.55\00:09:47.65 It's not an archaeological series, 00:09:47.68\00:09:49.72 we're not going 00:09:49.75\00:09:51.09 and given 00:09:51.12\00:09:52.45 all the archaeological information 00:09:52.49\00:09:53.82 because I'm not an archaeologist. 00:09:53.86\00:09:55.19 We're really telling the story of the Bible, 00:09:55.22\00:09:58.29 the major characters, 00:09:58.33\00:09:59.66 the major events 00:09:59.69\00:10:01.03 that help people visualize those. 00:10:01.06\00:10:02.56 You read the Bible and, you know, 00:10:02.60\00:10:04.43 gospels or the Old Testament, 00:10:04.47\00:10:06.17 and it doesn't really come out live all the time. 00:10:06.20\00:10:10.31 So we're trying to bring those stories to life 00:10:10.34\00:10:13.41 and take people on location 00:10:13.44\00:10:15.01 and see what they're reading about. 00:10:15.04\00:10:17.15 Fantastic. I love that. 00:10:17.18\00:10:18.58 So we're getting ready to look at a couple of episodes here, 00:10:18.61\00:10:20.75 Clive. So tell us about episode 1. 00:10:20.78\00:10:22.58 I think we're going to play that roll next. 00:10:22.62\00:10:24.12 So set that one up for us? 00:10:24.15\00:10:25.55 Sure. 00:10:25.59\00:10:26.92 So episode 1 is about kind of creation 00:10:26.96\00:10:29.46 and Noah's Ark. 00:10:29.49\00:10:32.39 I guess if you look at it, 00:10:32.43\00:10:34.56 all these locations that we go to, 00:10:34.60\00:10:36.90 they may not be the exact location some of them 00:10:36.93\00:10:39.23 because we don't know. 00:10:39.27\00:10:40.87 But just to understand the regions, 00:10:40.90\00:10:42.57 get a feel of what the country looks like today. 00:10:42.60\00:10:45.84 And some of the, you know, 00:10:45.87\00:10:47.21 we visited Noah's Ark out in Kentucky. 00:10:47.24\00:10:48.94 I just see the sheer size 00:10:48.98\00:10:51.71 just to get 00:10:51.75\00:10:53.08 a visual representation of that. 00:10:53.11\00:10:54.45 So that's what the first episode 00:10:54.48\00:10:56.52 is going to be what now. 00:10:56.55\00:10:57.89 Yeah, fantastic. 00:10:57.92\00:10:59.25 Okay, so let's go to episode 1 in that roll right now. 00:10:59.29\00:11:01.72 We live in a world that is inundated 00:11:23.18\00:11:24.91 with opposing worldviews, 00:11:24.95\00:11:26.51 and among these is one that is embraced 00:11:26.55\00:11:28.65 by nearly a third of the world's population, 00:11:28.68\00:11:31.15 Christianity. 00:11:31.19\00:11:32.52 The Christian worldview is based on the Bible, 00:11:32.55\00:11:35.12 and uses this sacred text as the basis 00:11:35.16\00:11:37.76 for its ideological framework. 00:11:37.79\00:11:39.89 The Bible begins with these words, 00:11:39.93\00:11:42.06 "In the beginning, 00:11:42.10\00:11:43.43 God created the heavens and the earth." 00:11:43.47\00:11:45.93 This text provides the answer 00:11:45.97\00:11:48.00 in the Christian worldview to the question of origin. 00:11:48.04\00:11:51.14 The earth was made in six days by God. 00:11:51.17\00:11:54.11 And the Bible says 00:11:54.14\00:11:55.48 the most significant part of this process 00:11:55.51\00:11:57.55 was the moment God made man and woman with His own hands, 00:11:57.58\00:12:01.32 and then breathe into them breath from His own mouth. 00:12:01.35\00:12:04.09 The father and mother of the first race 00:12:09.02\00:12:10.83 were named Adam and Eve, 00:12:10.86\00:12:12.19 and God gave them a beautiful garden, 00:12:12.23\00:12:14.23 the Garden of Eden as their first home. 00:12:14.26\00:12:17.00 Scholars believe that it was located 00:12:17.03\00:12:18.97 somewhere in the Middle East, 00:12:19.00\00:12:20.57 based on the names of the four rivers 00:12:20.60\00:12:22.70 which flowed out of it. 00:12:22.74\00:12:24.37 As a test of their love and loyalty to God, 00:12:24.41\00:12:27.21 they were given a single prohibition. 00:12:27.24\00:12:29.78 They could eat of any tree of the garden 00:12:29.81\00:12:32.08 except the tree of the knowledge 00:12:32.11\00:12:34.32 of good and evil. 00:12:34.35\00:12:35.75 The consequences 00:12:35.78\00:12:37.12 of disregarding this prohibition 00:12:37.15\00:12:39.02 would be death. 00:12:39.05\00:12:40.39 Unfortunately, Genesis 3 records the account of Eve 00:12:45.33\00:12:49.10 being lured to the forbidden tree 00:12:49.13\00:12:50.87 by a talking serpent, 00:12:50.90\00:12:52.60 seduced by his lies about God and the nature of death. 00:12:52.63\00:12:56.40 She ate the fruit of the tree 00:12:56.44\00:12:58.11 and the Bible then says 00:12:58.14\00:12:59.54 she gave the fruit to her husband 00:12:59.57\00:13:01.14 and he ate it as well. 00:13:01.18\00:13:03.31 As a result of disobeying the commands of God, 00:13:03.35\00:13:06.18 they had to leave the Garden of Eden, 00:13:06.21\00:13:08.52 a place of peace, joy, 00:13:08.55\00:13:10.49 and face to face communion with God. 00:13:10.52\00:13:13.25 In the aftermath of their sin, 00:13:13.29\00:13:15.19 they witnessed the first death 00:13:15.22\00:13:16.59 as an animal was sacrificed for their sin. 00:13:16.62\00:13:19.43 And then later on, they were given clothes 00:13:19.46\00:13:21.50 made from the skins of this animal. 00:13:21.53\00:13:24.43 Their mourning turned to joy though 00:13:24.47\00:13:26.27 at the birth of their first son, 00:13:26.30\00:13:27.94 Cain, and later Abel, 00:13:27.97\00:13:29.87 but nothing could prepare them for what came next. 00:13:29.90\00:13:33.27 The horror of seeing their firstborn son murder 00:13:33.31\00:13:37.15 his younger brother. 00:13:37.18\00:13:38.81 Wracked with guilt, 00:13:38.85\00:13:40.28 Cain separated himself from his family, 00:13:40.32\00:13:43.02 and sets up camp in Nod on the east of Eden, 00:13:43.05\00:13:46.76 and thus began a separation between those who follow God 00:13:46.79\00:13:50.63 and those who went their own way. 00:13:50.66\00:13:52.73 However, as time went on, 00:13:57.97\00:13:59.57 the two groups began to intermingle 00:13:59.60\00:14:01.80 through marriage. 00:14:01.84\00:14:03.17 This led to a gradual falling away 00:14:03.20\00:14:05.14 from God and a loosening of moral restraint. 00:14:05.17\00:14:08.24 As the Bible describes it, 00:14:08.28\00:14:10.11 "The wickedness of man was very great." 00:14:10.15\00:14:13.42 As God surveyed 00:14:13.45\00:14:14.78 the rapidly deteriorating situation 00:14:14.82\00:14:16.52 on earth, 00:14:16.55\00:14:17.89 He gave its inhabitants 120 years of probationary time 00:14:17.92\00:14:22.36 to make a decisive choice. 00:14:22.39\00:14:24.56 They could either choose 00:14:24.59\00:14:25.93 to follow His guidelines for morality, 00:14:25.96\00:14:28.23 or they could follow their own. 00:14:28.26\00:14:30.20 Their own perception of morality 00:14:30.23\00:14:32.07 had led to a terrible state of crime and violence. 00:14:32.10\00:14:35.37 And if they chose to persist in this course, 00:14:35.40\00:14:37.91 God would cleanse the earth with a flood. 00:14:37.94\00:14:40.11 God instructs a man named Noah to build an ark, 00:14:46.58\00:14:49.62 the length was to be 300 cubits and the width 50 cubits 00:14:49.65\00:14:53.72 roughly 150 meters by 25. 00:14:53.76\00:14:57.59 Today, there are two life size replicas 00:14:57.63\00:15:00.03 of an ark in the world, 00:15:00.06\00:15:01.43 one in Holland and one here in Kentucky. 00:15:01.46\00:15:04.50 It's fascinating to see 00:15:04.53\00:15:05.87 how much wood it takes to build an ark, 00:15:05.90\00:15:08.37 roughly 14,000 trees, and yet how solid it appears. 00:15:08.40\00:15:13.04 Sadly, only the eight members in Noah's family 00:15:13.07\00:15:15.88 make it into the ark before the rain starts to fall. 00:15:15.91\00:15:19.35 Soon the earth is covered with water. 00:15:19.38\00:15:21.92 And the flood continues for 150 days 00:15:21.95\00:15:25.12 before the water start to recede. 00:15:25.15\00:15:27.49 Today, there is a lot of evidence 00:15:27.52\00:15:29.29 for the flood in geology 00:15:29.32\00:15:31.03 if you are looking at it 00:15:31.06\00:15:32.56 through the lens of this cataclysmic event. 00:15:32.59\00:15:34.96 God did not forget His people. 00:15:40.77\00:15:42.57 And in fact, one of the key points 00:15:42.60\00:15:44.07 is found in Genesis 8:1 when it says, 00:15:44.11\00:15:46.98 "Then God remembered Noah." 00:15:47.01\00:15:49.51 Sometimes it's in the midst of the storm, 00:15:49.54\00:15:51.98 when it seems like God might have forgotten us, 00:15:52.01\00:15:54.65 when we're tossed about in the waves of life 00:15:54.68\00:15:57.25 that God then makes His presence known. 00:15:57.29\00:16:00.16 The same God who made the world restored its beauty 00:16:00.19\00:16:04.16 after the flood, 00:16:04.19\00:16:05.53 have confidence and assurance to know 00:16:05.56\00:16:07.73 that we serve a powerful God. 00:16:07.76\00:16:09.73 And the same God who made you can restore His beauty in you, 00:16:09.76\00:16:13.87 no matter what you have experienced or gone through. 00:16:13.90\00:16:16.60 Amen. Amen. Wow! 00:16:44.93\00:16:46.80 I love that. Me too. 00:16:46.84\00:16:48.64 I would watch it just to see the footage 00:16:48.67\00:16:50.91 and to get to travel to these places. 00:16:50.94\00:16:52.81 But then, Adam, you do such an amazing job as well. 00:16:52.84\00:16:56.51 No teleprompter doing that script. 00:16:56.54\00:16:59.41 And I love the appeal you put in at the end. 00:16:59.45\00:17:01.85 What type of response do you all get from Lineage? 00:17:01.88\00:17:05.75 I know someone can go to an evangelistic series 00:17:05.79\00:17:07.82 or you can share the Word of God with them. 00:17:07.86\00:17:09.36 You can share the same thing, 00:17:09.39\00:17:10.73 but it's different 00:17:10.76\00:17:12.29 when you present it in this way. 00:17:12.33\00:17:13.70 Clive, let's start with you. 00:17:13.73\00:17:15.06 What type of response do you get? 00:17:15.10\00:17:17.07 I mean, we've had so many responses 00:17:17.10\00:17:18.43 and they've tested me 00:17:18.47\00:17:19.80 is it just kind of encouraged us 00:17:19.83\00:17:21.17 to go forward and make these videos, 00:17:21.20\00:17:22.54 but a couple of scenarios that kind of standout 00:17:22.57\00:17:25.21 is we've heard from someone leading out prison ministries, 00:17:25.24\00:17:28.11 you starting to the great controversy, 00:17:28.14\00:17:29.48 but the prison amounts, inmates, sorry, 00:17:29.51\00:17:33.35 they play these videos while they're studying. 00:17:33.38\00:17:35.42 So the inmates can kind of experience locations, 00:17:35.45\00:17:38.12 kind of see exactly 00:17:38.15\00:17:39.49 where some of the things took places. 00:17:39.52\00:17:41.06 And then obviously the evangelistic feel 00:17:41.09\00:17:42.42 at the end. 00:17:42.46\00:17:43.79 And we've also had response from secular schools 00:17:43.83\00:17:45.36 and Christian schools 00:17:45.39\00:17:47.00 who play these videos in class 00:17:47.03\00:17:49.76 and the students study them. 00:17:49.80\00:17:51.63 Just the blessing to hear these stories, 00:17:51.67\00:17:53.00 want to make more stuff. 00:17:53.03\00:17:54.37 Yeah. 00:17:54.40\00:17:55.74 Amen. Absolutely. 00:17:55.77\00:17:57.11 Adam, what about you? 00:17:57.14\00:17:58.47 What type of responses you receive? 00:17:58.51\00:18:00.08 Similar, a lot of people, as you mentioned, 00:18:00.11\00:18:02.24 do appreciate the appeal at the end, 00:18:02.28\00:18:04.28 that was actually an afterthought 00:18:04.31\00:18:06.31 that we didn't initially plan to. 00:18:06.35\00:18:08.15 And Clive was like, oh, check an appealing, 00:18:08.18\00:18:10.42 but people really do appreciate those. 00:18:10.45\00:18:12.49 And so it's one particular story, 00:18:12.52\00:18:15.32 we did share this on another occasion. 00:18:15.36\00:18:18.69 There was someone 00:18:18.73\00:18:20.06 who got locked down on a desert island in COVID. 00:18:20.10\00:18:22.23 They couldn't travel anywhere, and they had left, 00:18:22.26\00:18:25.83 they really left their walk with God, 00:18:25.87\00:18:28.00 so to speak in a back slip. 00:18:28.04\00:18:30.51 And they went on their Lineage pinch 00:18:30.54\00:18:33.41 just watching Season 1, Season 2, 00:18:33.44\00:18:35.88 and it was a huge part of bringing that background 00:18:35.91\00:18:38.75 to come in to God again and they sent them. 00:18:38.78\00:18:42.55 They knew one of the team members 00:18:42.58\00:18:44.39 sent us that message 00:18:44.42\00:18:45.75 and it would encourage us that, yeah, 00:18:45.79\00:18:47.82 that was used to change their life around 00:18:47.86\00:18:51.49 during this COVID-19 lockdown. 00:18:51.53\00:18:53.43 Amen. 00:18:53.46\00:18:54.80 Well, you know, that's what makes it worthwhile, 00:18:54.83\00:18:56.16 doesn't it? 00:18:56.20\00:18:57.53 Because traveling some people may say, 00:18:57.57\00:18:58.90 "Oh, traveling the world. 00:18:58.93\00:19:00.27 Wow, fantastic." 00:19:00.30\00:19:01.64 But there's a lot of hard work, you know, a lot of sacrifice. 00:19:01.67\00:19:03.74 And that makes it worth it all, doesn't it, 00:19:03.77\00:19:05.11 to hear stories like that? 00:19:05.14\00:19:07.01 Definitely, man. For sure. 00:19:07.04\00:19:09.14 We have another episode I think. 00:19:09.18\00:19:10.91 Let's go to episode 13. 00:19:10.95\00:19:12.48 And this is David and Goliath. 00:19:12.51\00:19:14.48 So let's take a look at this. 00:19:14.52\00:19:15.85 One of the most famous battles in all of history 00:19:34.74\00:19:37.77 took place right here in the Valley of Elah, 00:19:37.81\00:19:40.34 between the Israelites and the Philistines. 00:19:40.38\00:19:42.81 The main characters and the subsequent analogies 00:19:42.84\00:19:45.31 from their encounter have seeped into folklore 00:19:45.35\00:19:48.05 and transcended cultures around the world. 00:19:48.08\00:19:50.75 David versus Goliath, 00:19:50.79\00:19:52.55 the underdog versus the favorite, 00:19:52.59\00:19:54.69 little against large, 00:19:54.72\00:19:56.26 the untrained shepherd 00:19:56.29\00:19:57.63 versus the professional warrior. 00:19:57.66\00:19:59.53 Only one outcome was expected to all those watching, 00:19:59.56\00:20:03.06 but the tables turned completely. 00:20:03.10\00:20:05.17 The Israelites had been under attack 00:20:08.87\00:20:10.61 from the Philistines for some time. 00:20:10.64\00:20:12.51 They came from the coastal region 00:20:12.54\00:20:14.04 but increasingly were moving further and further inland. 00:20:14.08\00:20:17.38 They came to this valley 00:20:17.41\00:20:18.75 and pitched their tents on the hills on the south side. 00:20:18.78\00:20:21.88 The Bible says they pitched their tents 00:20:21.92\00:20:23.45 between Socoh and Azekah. 00:20:23.49\00:20:25.65 Socoh is a hill to my right, 00:20:25.69\00:20:27.72 and Azekah is the hill to my left. 00:20:27.76\00:20:29.92 In the middle is the valley, 00:20:29.96\00:20:31.59 and archaeologists believe it was on this hill 00:20:31.63\00:20:34.00 where the Israelites pitched their camp. 00:20:34.03\00:20:35.86 Based on excavations at the site, 00:20:40.24\00:20:42.60 the inscriptions that have been found 00:20:42.64\00:20:44.61 the lack of any pig bones 00:20:44.64\00:20:46.47 and the location of this hill 00:20:46.51\00:20:48.34 across from both Socoh and Azekah, 00:20:48.38\00:20:50.58 archaeologists believe with some surety 00:20:50.61\00:20:53.01 that this is where the Israelites fought from. 00:20:53.05\00:20:55.52 Encamped there for 40 days, 00:20:55.55\00:20:57.42 they listened to the Philistines 00:20:57.45\00:20:58.85 challenging them to fight Goliath 00:20:58.89\00:21:01.02 who was the largest Philistine there was 00:21:01.06\00:21:03.12 asked for one Israelite to come and fight him and no one, 00:21:03.16\00:21:06.90 not even the king would take him up 00:21:06.93\00:21:09.20 on this offer. 00:21:09.23\00:21:10.57 There was a shepherd boy whose three older brothers 00:21:16.00\00:21:18.34 were in the army 00:21:18.37\00:21:19.71 and his father asked him to take some food to them. 00:21:19.74\00:21:22.61 As he neared the camp, he heard the commotion, 00:21:22.64\00:21:24.78 and he asked his brothers 00:21:24.81\00:21:26.15 why no one had taken Goliath on yet. 00:21:26.18\00:21:28.28 Eventually, his words reached the king, 00:21:28.32\00:21:30.59 who called for David 00:21:30.62\00:21:32.02 and David pled his case to go and fight Goliath, 00:21:32.05\00:21:35.26 saying that he had fought off bears and lions 00:21:35.29\00:21:37.93 as he kept his sheep. 00:21:37.96\00:21:39.59 Eventually, the king agreed for him to go 00:21:39.63\00:21:41.76 as long as he wore his armor, 00:21:41.80\00:21:43.83 something David wasn't used to doing. 00:21:43.87\00:21:45.83 The armor was too big and clumsy. 00:21:52.04\00:21:54.18 And so David returned it 00:21:54.21\00:21:55.61 and went to fight this giant warrior 00:21:55.64\00:21:57.71 armed only with a staff, a sling, 00:21:57.75\00:22:00.02 and five smooth stones from this brook. 00:22:00.05\00:22:03.28 As he stood in front of Goliath, 00:22:03.32\00:22:05.35 Goliath was offended that they would send 00:22:05.39\00:22:07.52 such an unarmed boy to fight him. 00:22:07.56\00:22:10.26 David though was standing there confident in the power of God, 00:22:10.29\00:22:13.43 and that he would gain the victory. 00:22:13.46\00:22:15.33 In response to Goliath insults, he said, 00:22:15.36\00:22:17.93 "You come at me with a sword and spear. 00:22:17.97\00:22:20.10 But I come to you 00:22:20.14\00:22:21.47 in the name of the Lord of hosts, 00:22:21.50\00:22:23.10 and the God of the armies of Israel." 00:22:23.14\00:22:25.27 Then running toward Goliath at full speed, 00:22:30.91\00:22:33.82 he put a stone in his sling, 00:22:33.85\00:22:35.72 swirled it around 00:22:35.75\00:22:37.09 and sent it flying towards Goliath, 00:22:37.12\00:22:39.12 striking him in the forehead and knocking him down. 00:22:39.15\00:22:42.02 Then David ran over and chopped off his head. 00:22:42.06\00:22:45.46 The Philistine seeing their champion defeated, 00:22:45.49\00:22:47.76 then turned and ran, 00:22:47.80\00:22:49.13 and the Israelites ran after them 00:22:49.16\00:22:51.03 all the way to the city of Akron. 00:22:51.07\00:22:53.30 That day God used David to deliver His people 00:22:53.34\00:22:56.30 and illustrated the point 00:22:56.34\00:22:57.81 that is not in weapons of warfare, 00:22:57.84\00:22:59.64 that we should put our trust, but in the power of God. 00:22:59.67\00:23:02.51 This story shows us 00:23:08.05\00:23:09.38 that the issue in life is not how big we are, 00:23:09.42\00:23:12.19 how educated we are, 00:23:12.22\00:23:13.86 or what material advantages we have. 00:23:13.89\00:23:16.22 But the issue is whether we put our faith 00:23:16.26\00:23:18.16 and trust in God or not. 00:23:18.19\00:23:20.13 David trusted God explicitly 00:23:20.16\00:23:22.73 and moved forward with boldness. 00:23:22.76\00:23:25.00 It was this combination of faith and boldness, 00:23:25.03\00:23:28.00 courage under fire 00:23:28.04\00:23:29.37 that led to His remarkable success. 00:23:29.40\00:23:31.87 Today, God is looking for men and women of faith, 00:23:31.91\00:23:35.04 who trust in God 00:23:35.08\00:23:36.44 and move forward with bold and energetic action. 00:23:36.48\00:23:39.05 Amen. 00:24:09.28\00:24:10.61 So what you've been watching today is really a sneak peek 00:24:10.65\00:24:12.85 of Lineage Season 3 coming soon. 00:24:12.88\00:24:15.85 We could say, we just watched David and Goliath. 00:24:15.88\00:24:18.35 And we're here today 00:24:18.39\00:24:19.72 with Adam Ramdin and Clive Coutet. 00:24:19.75\00:24:22.59 basically your trust in God not in man, 00:24:28.16\00:24:31.57 and God is looking for men and women to stand up for Him. 00:24:31.60\00:24:34.97 And so, yeah, just fantastic. 00:24:35.00\00:24:36.71 Now, okay, great episodes, 00:24:36.74\00:24:38.07 but you've got some fantastic resources. 00:24:38.11\00:24:40.98 So we want to talk about those briefly. 00:24:41.01\00:24:43.61 Should we talk about Thank you. 00:30:29.76\00:30:31.39 Yes. Welcome to our Today program. 00:30:31.43\00:30:34.13 Just want to thank you for taken the time 00:30:34.16\00:30:36.33 to join us today 00:30:36.36\00:30:37.70 to share with our viewers and listeners 00:30:37.73\00:30:39.57 about the Institute of East Asia Training Program. 00:30:39.60\00:30:42.97 Give us an overview. 00:30:43.00\00:30:44.34 When did that program begin? 00:30:44.37\00:30:47.01 So you probably know 00:30:47.04\00:30:48.38 that there are about 2 billion people 00:30:48.41\00:30:50.61 unreached in Asia. 00:30:50.65\00:30:52.28 And five years ago, in 2016, 00:30:52.31\00:30:55.25 my wife and I moved to Malaysia, 00:30:55.28\00:30:56.82 a central place between Thailand and Singapore, 00:30:56.85\00:30:59.89 to begin training missionaries there. 00:30:59.92\00:31:02.39 2016, we started. 00:31:02.42\00:31:04.13 Wow, wow. 00:31:04.16\00:31:05.49 What inspired you to do that? 00:31:05.53\00:31:07.26 Because that is a very difficult people group 00:31:07.30\00:31:09.43 to reach. 00:31:09.46\00:31:10.80 What was behind that motivation? 00:31:10.83\00:31:12.90 So if you're wondering, 00:31:12.93\00:31:14.27 what are the large people groups 00:31:14.30\00:31:15.64 that we need to reach? 00:31:15.67\00:31:17.01 Of course, the answer would be the Hindus, 00:31:17.04\00:31:18.61 the Buddhists and Muslims. 00:31:18.64\00:31:20.51 And in many countries of the world, 00:31:20.54\00:31:21.98 you find one of those but in Malaysia, 00:31:22.01\00:31:24.61 you have a strong mix of all three, 00:31:24.65\00:31:27.42 you have the Indian races, they're Hindu, 00:31:27.45\00:31:29.45 and the Buddhist races are, excuse me, 00:31:29.48\00:31:31.52 the Chinese races are Buddhist. 00:31:31.55\00:31:33.76 And the Malay races are Muslims. 00:31:33.79\00:31:36.46 So it's an ideal place for training missionaries 00:31:36.49\00:31:39.23 to work in the 10/40 Window. 00:31:39.26\00:31:41.23 And that's why we're there. 00:31:41.26\00:31:42.96 So you have people working along with you in the field 00:31:43.00\00:31:45.40 that are over there now, while you're here in America? 00:31:45.43\00:31:49.44 Yeah, I'm the foreigner. 00:31:49.47\00:31:50.81 So COVID has locked me out of the place. 00:31:50.84\00:31:53.64 But my students that are there and the staff are carrying on. 00:31:53.68\00:31:57.31 In fact, they've been selling books, 00:31:57.35\00:31:58.68 even as recently as last week. 00:31:58.71\00:32:00.78 They're selling 00:32:00.82\00:32:02.15 a lot of Ellen White's end-time books, 00:32:02.18\00:32:04.82 which would be better than you might think 00:32:04.85\00:32:06.42 for those populations. 00:32:06.45\00:32:08.02 You know, if you're a Muslim, 00:32:08.06\00:32:09.39 and you see that first chapter 00:32:09.42\00:32:10.76 is the destruction of Jerusalem, 00:32:10.79\00:32:12.13 that grabs you. 00:32:12.16\00:32:13.50 Wow, wow. 00:32:13.53\00:32:14.86 And so talk about some of the languages 00:32:14.90\00:32:16.26 that you translate, 00:32:16.30\00:32:17.97 as you mentioned, 00:32:18.00\00:32:19.33 a group of Ellen White's last day publications into. 00:32:19.37\00:32:22.34 What are some of the languages that they're available now 00:32:22.37\00:32:24.37 for the missionary field that you're reaching out to? 00:32:24.41\00:32:28.34 So our little school in Malaysia 00:32:28.38\00:32:30.85 deals with three local languages. 00:32:30.88\00:32:33.11 Those are Malay, Tamil and Mandarin. 00:32:33.15\00:32:36.92 But we've branched out extensively 00:32:36.95\00:32:39.89 since we began producing a video series 00:32:39.92\00:32:42.29 that focuses on Muslim persons. 00:32:42.32\00:32:44.59 And now we're producing videos in Bengali and Indonesian, 00:32:44.63\00:32:48.46 Urdu and in Farsi and Arabic, and in Fula, and in really, 00:32:48.50\00:32:54.34 it seems like every month we're adding a new language, 00:32:54.37\00:32:57.24 whatever languages have the most native speakers 00:32:57.27\00:33:00.11 of the Muslim persuasion today. 00:33:00.14\00:33:01.91 Well, so would that be you taking videos 00:33:01.94\00:33:04.31 that are already existing, 00:33:04.35\00:33:06.25 and doing lower thirds 00:33:06.28\00:33:07.68 or just having it spoken in that language? 00:33:07.72\00:33:10.89 So our worker in Farsi 00:33:10.92\00:33:13.46 produced the original videos 00:33:13.49\00:33:15.36 from studies that were designed for that people group, 00:33:15.39\00:33:19.09 and from his video series, 00:33:19.13\00:33:20.90 we're having it translated into other languages. 00:33:20.93\00:33:23.40 Oh, so it's actually in the language of the people, 00:33:23.43\00:33:26.40 if I'm following that correctly. 00:33:26.43\00:33:28.04 That's right. 00:33:28.07\00:33:29.40 In fact, we can get two languages in one video, 00:33:29.44\00:33:31.31 because we can have one that is the audio 00:33:31.34\00:33:33.01 and then one in subtitles. 00:33:33.04\00:33:34.91 And in that way, we can advertise 00:33:34.94\00:33:36.78 these in many countries. 00:33:36.81\00:33:38.35 Most of the countries of the world 00:33:38.38\00:33:39.71 outside of the USA, 00:33:39.75\00:33:41.08 people speak more than one language. 00:33:41.12\00:33:43.12 And when you have one language in audio and one in visual, 00:33:43.15\00:33:46.45 frequently they get a better idea 00:33:46.49\00:33:47.89 of what's been spoken than they would otherwise. 00:33:47.92\00:33:50.16 Wow, that gives another definition too. 00:33:50.19\00:33:53.29 And this gospel of the kingdom shall be preached 00:33:53.33\00:33:55.96 in all the world. 00:33:56.00\00:33:57.33 It really takes us outside of America. 00:33:57.37\00:34:00.17 A lot of people think, well, you know, 00:34:00.20\00:34:01.87 a lot of things are happening in America, 00:34:01.90\00:34:03.24 a lot of Christians in America, 00:34:03.27\00:34:04.61 but there are people around the world, 00:34:04.64\00:34:05.97 as you're making very clear 00:34:06.01\00:34:07.34 that are just getting to know the name of Jesus 00:34:07.38\00:34:10.51 and those people groups that you talked about. 00:34:10.55\00:34:12.65 I mean, Malay and the languages Tamil and Chinese 00:34:12.68\00:34:16.42 and you just talk about a few of them 00:34:16.45\00:34:17.79 that we're going to revisit here in just a moment. 00:34:17.82\00:34:20.02 But also there's something else. 00:34:20.06\00:34:21.56 Go ahead. 00:34:21.59\00:34:23.09 It was just a few weeks ago that I contacted a man 00:34:23.12\00:34:26.96 named Sajjad in Iraq. 00:34:27.00\00:34:29.36 Sajjad had never met a Christian in his entire life 00:34:29.40\00:34:32.97 but he made a comment on a YouTube video. 00:34:33.00\00:34:36.00 And I wrote to him because of that comment. 00:34:36.04\00:34:39.57 And within 48 hours, 00:34:39.61\00:34:41.41 he told me that he wants to become 00:34:41.44\00:34:43.28 a Christian. 00:34:43.31\00:34:44.65 And just this week, 00:34:44.68\00:34:46.01 he did a review of Prophets and Kings 00:34:46.05\00:34:48.98 written in Arabic to help his fellow Iraqians. 00:34:49.02\00:34:53.12 So, yeah, you're right. 00:34:53.15\00:34:54.49 There are people all over the planet too. 00:34:54.52\00:34:56.22 If we give them a chance, they'll take the chance. 00:34:56.26\00:34:58.43 Wow, that's wonderful. 00:34:58.46\00:34:59.79 Because a lot of times, 00:34:59.83\00:35:01.16 English speaking people and parts of the world 00:35:01.20\00:35:03.60 that have heard the gospel for many decades 00:35:03.63\00:35:06.03 and in some cases, 00:35:06.07\00:35:07.54 much longer than that have said, 00:35:07.57\00:35:08.90 well, why is Jesus not coming yet? 00:35:08.94\00:35:11.67 Well, there are people that still need to get to know 00:35:11.71\00:35:13.98 the good news about the gospel. 00:35:14.01\00:35:15.61 And that's exciting when a person comments 00:35:15.64\00:35:17.81 about something. 00:35:17.85\00:35:19.18 And then on the heels of that accepts Jesus Christ 00:35:19.21\00:35:21.85 in a difficult society, 00:35:21.88\00:35:23.52 in a difficult setting 00:35:23.55\00:35:24.89 where the language is often dominated 00:35:24.92\00:35:26.76 by a different kind of religion. 00:35:26.79\00:35:28.92 Talk about the school in Borneo 00:35:28.96\00:35:32.06 that you started in 2018? 00:35:32.09\00:35:36.13 So the director of that school is named Perla 00:35:36.16\00:35:39.50 and I want to talk to you about Perla for just a minute. 00:35:39.53\00:35:43.04 Perla was what you might call a sleepy Adventist 00:35:43.07\00:35:47.91 just six years ago. 00:35:47.94\00:35:50.45 She grew up in a very poor place. 00:35:50.48\00:35:53.08 She was a rubber tapper by family trade. 00:35:53.11\00:35:56.52 What is it that? But she did... 00:35:56.55\00:35:58.25 That means that she carves in trees 00:35:58.29\00:36:00.96 and helps them bleed latex that's used to make rubber. 00:36:00.99\00:36:04.13 Okay. 00:36:04.16\00:36:05.49 And it doesn't pay well, I'll tell you that. 00:36:05.53\00:36:08.56 So her family was very excited 00:36:08.60\00:36:11.03 when she won a full scholarship to study medicine. 00:36:11.07\00:36:14.60 And a doctor in Malaysia earns 00:36:14.64\00:36:18.07 20 times as much as a rubber tapper. 00:36:18.11\00:36:20.58 And so this meant 00:36:20.61\00:36:21.94 that her family would be raised out of poverty 00:36:21.98\00:36:23.61 and her village would benefit 00:36:23.65\00:36:25.35 and her local church was so excited. 00:36:25.38\00:36:27.58 And Perla went to study medicine. 00:36:27.62\00:36:30.09 But while she was studying there, 00:36:30.12\00:36:31.99 she encountered what you might call 00:36:32.02\00:36:34.06 a spin off the GYC movement, 00:36:34.09\00:36:36.56 a youth revival going on in Asia. 00:36:36.59\00:36:39.36 And it changed her life. 00:36:39.39\00:36:41.10 And soon after that meeting, 00:36:41.13\00:36:42.90 she had an important exam on Sabbath. 00:36:42.93\00:36:46.33 Well, Malaysia is a Muslim country 00:36:46.37\00:36:48.14 and in Malaysia, 00:36:48.17\00:36:49.50 you can't just ask your professor 00:36:49.54\00:36:51.64 and get Sabbath's off for exams. 00:36:51.67\00:36:54.31 It doesn't work that way. 00:36:54.34\00:36:55.94 And she tried as hard as she could 00:36:55.98\00:36:57.61 and no one was budging. 00:36:57.65\00:37:00.12 But if she doesn't take this exam, 00:37:00.15\00:37:02.72 she will lose her scholarship. 00:37:02.75\00:37:05.22 It'll be back to poverty. 00:37:05.25\00:37:07.66 And more than that, 00:37:07.69\00:37:09.36 when you lose a scholarship in Malaysia, 00:37:09.39\00:37:11.03 you lose it retroactively. 00:37:11.06\00:37:12.83 That means that she'd be billed 00:37:12.86\00:37:14.26 for her first year of medical school, 00:37:14.30\00:37:16.26 a bill that she would have a terrible time to ever pay. 00:37:16.30\00:37:19.70 And so she thought she'd call her family 00:37:19.73\00:37:21.80 to get some support 00:37:21.84\00:37:23.17 in this crisis in her local church. 00:37:23.20\00:37:25.27 I'll tell you, John, 00:37:25.31\00:37:26.64 they didn't give her any support. 00:37:26.68\00:37:28.34 They told her just take the exam, 00:37:28.38\00:37:30.98 you can repent. 00:37:31.01\00:37:32.35 You can't let this opportunity go. 00:37:32.38\00:37:36.18 Well, Perla by the grace of God was faithful despite pressure. 00:37:36.22\00:37:41.49 She didn't take the exam. She lost her scholarship. 00:37:41.52\00:37:44.46 She was kicked out in medical school. 00:37:44.49\00:37:46.53 And she came to study 00:37:46.56\00:37:47.90 in our mission training program. 00:37:47.93\00:37:49.83 And three years later, 00:37:49.86\00:37:51.20 she became the director of our Borneo campus. 00:37:51.23\00:37:54.44 And now her great skills in chemistry 00:37:54.47\00:37:56.94 and science and algebra, and Bible, 00:37:56.97\00:38:00.74 that mighty mind that God has given her, 00:38:00.78\00:38:03.55 she's using every bit of that mind 00:38:03.58\00:38:06.15 to direct a school of about 25 young people, 00:38:06.18\00:38:10.12 most of whom are from a non-Christian background. 00:38:10.15\00:38:13.15 These are primary, secondary students. 00:38:13.19\00:38:15.69 And you know, when COVID-19 hit, 00:38:15.72\00:38:18.49 the parents of some of our Muslim students 00:38:18.53\00:38:20.80 in Borneo didn't have any way to get food. 00:38:20.83\00:38:23.93 They lost their jobs immediately. 00:38:23.97\00:38:26.07 There's no welfare system for Filipinos in Malaysia. 00:38:26.10\00:38:30.44 And so they were getting very hungry, 00:38:30.47\00:38:33.17 our little school began to feed them 00:38:33.21\00:38:35.44 and now every one of those students 00:38:35.48\00:38:37.91 in our school are praying in the name of Jesus. 00:38:37.95\00:38:40.95 And even the mother of one of them 00:38:40.98\00:38:42.48 has begun to do that. 00:38:42.52\00:38:44.32 And that so, so that's what Perla is doing. 00:38:44.35\00:38:47.36 She, her life has been revamped 00:38:47.39\00:38:50.49 not as a doctor but as a healer of the mind. 00:38:50.53\00:38:53.53 And she's the director of our school there in Borneo. 00:38:53.56\00:38:55.66 That's amazing how out of hardship, 00:38:55.70\00:38:58.07 the Lord opens up an avenue 00:38:58.10\00:38:59.77 where compromise is not the key to getting successful. 00:38:59.80\00:39:05.31 As one of our good friends that I always heard 00:39:05.34\00:39:07.91 Pastor Wintley Phipps say, 00:39:07.94\00:39:09.31 you don't have to compromise to be recognized, 00:39:09.34\00:39:11.51 and that's, that's very, very true. 00:39:11.55\00:39:13.11 I give them credit for that. 00:39:13.15\00:39:14.48 But that's very true in the situation. 00:39:14.52\00:39:16.22 When you stand for what is right, 00:39:16.25\00:39:17.59 the Lord will open doors anyway. 00:39:17.62\00:39:19.32 Also, something happened in West Malaysia in 2019. 00:39:19.35\00:39:22.92 Talk about your production ministry 00:39:22.96\00:39:24.96 that exists there? 00:39:24.99\00:39:27.50 So our primary training school is in the state of Perak, 00:39:27.53\00:39:30.90 which is north of Kuala Lumpur. 00:39:30.93\00:39:33.10 And in 2019, we moved to start our own campus. 00:39:33.13\00:39:37.31 And while when we move 00:39:37.34\00:39:40.71 that caused some difficulty for some people, 00:39:40.74\00:39:43.45 one of our friends there in southern Malaysia, 00:39:43.48\00:39:46.05 his name is Mohammed. 00:39:46.08\00:39:47.88 He had just for the first time received a Bible 00:39:47.92\00:39:51.52 a few weeks before we moved. 00:39:51.55\00:39:53.96 Mohammed had himself been become, 00:39:53.99\00:39:57.69 he had become skeptical. 00:39:57.73\00:39:59.06 He's from Yemen. 00:39:59.09\00:40:00.43 And there in Yemen, 00:40:00.46\00:40:01.80 he had seen some things that really perplexed him. 00:40:01.83\00:40:04.43 He saw imams change their tune 00:40:04.47\00:40:06.74 because of politics about what is true theologically. 00:40:06.77\00:40:10.47 And so he began to study and since he did, 00:40:10.51\00:40:16.01 already Mohammad has brought three friends into the faith. 00:40:16.04\00:40:21.02 And one of those friends is still in Yemen. 00:40:21.05\00:40:22.98 One of them is in Egypt, one of them is in Malaysia. 00:40:23.02\00:40:26.15 They've begun to reach out to others. 00:40:26.19\00:40:28.29 But we had to leave him in 2019. 00:40:28.32\00:40:31.99 And it'd be interesting if I could tell you why, 00:40:32.03\00:40:34.26 but there's no time for that, we had to move further north. 00:40:34.30\00:40:38.00 And when we did, 00:40:38.03\00:40:39.87 God helped us find a piece of property 00:40:39.90\00:40:42.10 on a mountaintop, 00:40:42.14\00:40:43.51 where we could put in fruit trees, 00:40:43.54\00:40:45.67 put in vegetables, build our own campus. 00:40:45.71\00:40:49.34 And that's what we're doing now. 00:40:49.38\00:40:50.71 While you and I are speaking, they're pouring cement there, 00:40:50.75\00:40:53.45 laying the foundation for that. 00:40:53.48\00:40:55.32 That's wonderful. That's wonderful. 00:40:55.35\00:40:56.69 So even though he had to be moved, 00:40:56.72\00:40:58.92 the school is continuing to go forth. 00:40:58.95\00:41:01.36 And production is continuing to go forth. 00:41:01.39\00:41:04.06 That's wonderful. 00:41:04.09\00:41:05.43 But you also now talked about the workers 00:41:05.46\00:41:07.80 for among the former Muslims, 00:41:07.83\00:41:11.20 paid workers that used to be Muslims. 00:41:11.23\00:41:13.87 Talk about that for a moment 00:41:13.90\00:41:15.24 and where and where their impact is. 00:41:15.27\00:41:18.27 So my idea about how to reach the Muslim population 00:41:18.31\00:41:22.84 is different than many people, John. 00:41:22.88\00:41:24.51 I don't use the Quran. 00:41:24.55\00:41:26.85 I don't pretend that I'm a Muslim, 00:41:26.88\00:41:28.68 I don't go into these situations, 00:41:28.72\00:41:31.55 pretending that I believe 00:41:31.59\00:41:33.25 that Mohammad is a true prophet. 00:41:33.29\00:41:35.56 We just start with the Book of Daniel. 00:41:35.59\00:41:38.29 And we've produced a series of studies 00:41:38.33\00:41:40.26 and now videos using those studies 00:41:40.30\00:41:42.90 that are having good success. 00:41:42.93\00:41:44.90 So we have workers now, in those countries, 00:41:44.93\00:41:47.30 I've mentioned Yemen and Egypt. 00:41:47.34\00:41:48.84 And also we've added Sierra Leone, 00:41:48.87\00:41:51.27 Iraq, just recently, 00:41:51.31\00:41:53.68 people working undercover to promote these videos, 00:41:53.71\00:41:57.25 and they studies among their own kin 00:41:57.28\00:41:59.28 and their own people group. 00:41:59.31\00:42:01.95 And then right there in Malaysia, 00:42:01.98\00:42:03.95 there is a large class of refugees that, 00:42:03.99\00:42:08.46 that were arming to be missionaries 00:42:08.49\00:42:11.69 in their own right. 00:42:11.73\00:42:13.06 You see in Malaysia, Malaysia accepts refugees, 00:42:13.09\00:42:17.40 but they don't support them. 00:42:17.43\00:42:19.13 They don't allow them to work. 00:42:19.17\00:42:20.87 They don't allow them to get jobs, 00:42:20.90\00:42:22.74 they don't give them any sort of subsidy. 00:42:22.77\00:42:24.94 So here come all these refugees from Myanmar, 00:42:24.97\00:42:28.38 and they have no way to support themselves 00:42:28.41\00:42:30.35 besides crime or self-employment. 00:42:30.38\00:42:32.51 And how can they self-employ themselves 00:42:32.55\00:42:34.32 with no money? 00:42:34.35\00:42:35.78 We're taking their young people and training them 00:42:35.82\00:42:38.49 how to sell books, 00:42:38.52\00:42:40.16 training them how to do agriculture. 00:42:40.19\00:42:42.62 We began last year 2019, 00:42:42.66\00:42:45.29 a training school for those refugees. 00:42:45.33\00:42:47.96 And now we have them doing a tremendous work. 00:42:48.00\00:42:51.43 And it looks like that school is going to grow and grow 00:42:51.47\00:42:54.44 until we close the doors 00:42:54.47\00:42:56.37 because there's just no limit to how many young people 00:42:56.40\00:42:59.21 really want to find a way to serve God 00:42:59.24\00:43:01.54 without compromising their faith. 00:43:01.58\00:43:03.45 Refugee Adventist in Malaysia frequently work in restaurants 00:43:03.48\00:43:08.95 that require Sabbath work. 00:43:08.98\00:43:11.19 And, of course, this destroys their faith. 00:43:11.22\00:43:13.92 So to have a real place for them to work 00:43:13.96\00:43:16.73 and to keep Sabbath 00:43:16.76\00:43:18.09 and then to even do mission work 00:43:18.13\00:43:19.63 just broadens their perspective. 00:43:19.66\00:43:21.36 Wow. That's amazing. 00:43:21.40\00:43:22.73 In Sierra Leone, East Africa, Egypt, Yemen, 00:43:22.76\00:43:25.33 and Malaysia and other places, 00:43:25.37\00:43:27.90 the languages that are being produced 00:43:27.94\00:43:29.27 Farsi, Arabic, Urdu, Russian, Mandarin, German, 00:43:29.30\00:43:32.77 Fula, Bengali, Malay and Indonesian. 00:43:32.81\00:43:35.31 That's amazing that people that were formerly Muslim 00:43:35.34\00:43:38.91 are now finding the gospel and being used by the Lord 00:43:38.95\00:43:42.25 to carry the good news of Jesus. 00:43:42.28\00:43:43.62 That's amazing. 00:43:43.65\00:43:44.99 But tell me about the mother monkey story, 00:43:45.02\00:43:47.36 that just piques my interest. 00:43:47.39\00:43:49.02 I just want to hear about that. 00:43:49.06\00:43:51.39 So I was walking on a mountain a few years ago 00:43:51.43\00:43:54.90 when I saw a bunch of dogs barking around a banana tree. 00:43:54.93\00:43:59.40 And they were so excited. 00:43:59.43\00:44:00.84 I came near and I saw on the top of that banana tree, 00:44:00.87\00:44:04.27 a mother monkey and her baby on her breast. 00:44:04.31\00:44:07.34 And you know, banana trees are soft. 00:44:07.38\00:44:09.61 That is they're spongy 00:44:09.64\00:44:11.58 and the dogs knew 00:44:11.61\00:44:12.95 that there was nowhere for her to jump. 00:44:12.98\00:44:15.12 There is no jungle tree nearby. 00:44:15.15\00:44:17.35 And they were sure they were going to eat 00:44:17.39\00:44:19.15 a mother and her baby. 00:44:19.19\00:44:21.12 And as I watched there for a moment, 00:44:21.16\00:44:22.79 I saw the most amazing thing, John. 00:44:22.82\00:44:25.59 I saw that mother monkey take her baby off her breast, 00:44:25.63\00:44:29.40 put the baby on top of the banana plant 00:44:29.43\00:44:32.70 and she leaped over the dogs to the ground. 00:44:32.73\00:44:35.67 Wow. 00:44:35.70\00:44:37.04 And she led those dogs on a chase. 00:44:37.07\00:44:40.34 And when she did 00:44:40.38\00:44:41.71 the baby monkey climbed down the banana tree, 00:44:41.74\00:44:45.05 went over to a jungle tree and climbed up to safety. 00:44:45.08\00:44:48.32 Wow. 00:44:48.35\00:44:49.68 And I've thought about that many times. 00:44:49.72\00:44:51.15 I've thought, 00:44:51.19\00:44:52.52 what if that baby monkey had not climbed down? 00:44:52.55\00:44:56.99 What if he had just stayed there? 00:44:57.03\00:44:59.09 You know if he had done that, 00:44:59.13\00:45:00.46 those dogs would have come back. 00:45:00.50\00:45:02.30 And then there would have been no escape for him. 00:45:02.33\00:45:05.20 And I think in the times we live in right now, John, 00:45:05.23\00:45:08.00 that a lot of us are like that baby monkey. 00:45:08.04\00:45:11.17 It's an amazing story. 00:45:11.21\00:45:12.54 You know, when you talk about the mother monkey 00:45:12.57\00:45:15.34 that reminds me to some degree about Jesus. 00:45:15.38\00:45:17.75 What do you think? 00:45:17.78\00:45:19.81 Yeah, Jesus has made that sacrifice for us already. 00:45:19.85\00:45:23.45 And He's left it with us to climb down out of our tree 00:45:23.49\00:45:26.05 and do what we need to do. 00:45:26.09\00:45:27.62 I think a lot of us know more than we do 00:45:27.66\00:45:29.36 about what's required of us. 00:45:29.39\00:45:32.06 You know, it's amazing 00:45:32.09\00:45:33.43 how the mother led the dogs away, 00:45:33.46\00:45:35.80 to give her baby a chance to survive. 00:45:35.83\00:45:39.13 And that's, that's what Jesus does. 00:45:39.17\00:45:40.94 He came to lead the enemy away. 00:45:40.97\00:45:43.00 Praise the Lord for that. 00:45:43.04\00:45:44.74 That's amazing. 00:45:44.77\00:45:46.11 You know, you talk about true education. 00:45:46.14\00:45:47.94 Tell us about that, true education? 00:45:47.98\00:45:50.31 I've heard the phrase edge of the word education, 00:45:50.35\00:45:52.71 but talk about true education 00:45:52.75\00:45:54.78 as it relates to the projects you work with? 00:45:54.82\00:45:57.89 So when you talk about the council God 00:45:57.92\00:45:59.65 has given us as a church, 00:45:59.69\00:46:01.02 you might be able to find maybe an inch thick 00:46:01.06\00:46:04.16 about how to do evangelistic series 00:46:04.19\00:46:06.16 or an inch and a half about Bible work. 00:46:06.19\00:46:08.03 But if you were to put 00:46:08.06\00:46:09.40 the books together and education, 00:46:09.43\00:46:10.77 you might even find nine inches of books. 00:46:10.80\00:46:12.70 Wow. 00:46:12.73\00:46:14.07 I mean, Education Fundamentals, Council to Parents, Teachers, 00:46:14.10\00:46:16.84 Spalding and Magan , Loma Linda Messages, 00:46:16.87\00:46:18.74 and so much more. 00:46:18.77\00:46:20.61 When we follow that council, 00:46:20.64\00:46:23.01 the young people in our schools 00:46:23.04\00:46:24.48 don't just become sincere Adventists, 00:46:24.51\00:46:27.05 they become missionaries. 00:46:27.08\00:46:28.95 They become young people who want to put their life 00:46:28.98\00:46:31.45 into finishing the work. 00:46:31.49\00:46:33.09 So we're doing that in Malaysia, 00:46:33.12\00:46:34.99 we're trying to follow all the council. 00:46:35.02\00:46:36.79 But, John, that brings up a problem for us. 00:46:36.83\00:46:39.79 The council that we have about true education 00:46:39.83\00:46:42.66 requires that our schools have land. 00:46:42.70\00:46:45.60 And land in Malaysia and Indonesia 00:46:45.63\00:46:48.00 is very expensive, 00:46:48.04\00:46:49.37 because the population is high and the land is limited. 00:46:49.40\00:46:52.31 That cost there $15-25,000 per acre for land. 00:46:52.34\00:46:56.11 Wow. 00:46:56.14\00:46:57.48 So that's one of the things I'm trying to raise money for 00:46:57.51\00:46:59.11 is that we can buy land around our schools. 00:46:59.15\00:47:01.58 And, but yeah, 00:47:01.62\00:47:03.99 we want to follow that council precisely. 00:47:04.02\00:47:06.22 Okay. That's amazing. 00:47:06.25\00:47:07.89 I can't even think of $25,000 per acre of land. 00:47:07.92\00:47:12.86 But in order to expand the benefit of education, 00:47:12.89\00:47:15.56 you need the land. 00:47:15.60\00:47:16.93 That's something that we'll talk about, 00:47:16.97\00:47:18.37 and maybe appeal to our viewers and listeners 00:47:18.40\00:47:20.70 before the program is done. 00:47:20.74\00:47:22.97 But you also have talked about your bakery and your nursery. 00:47:23.00\00:47:26.78 It's amazing as I think of all the things you're doing 00:47:26.81\00:47:28.74 in your ministry, you're really diversified. 00:47:28.78\00:47:32.21 So our council on education 00:47:32.25\00:47:34.68 is that our young people should learn trades. 00:47:34.72\00:47:37.19 They should come to the school 00:47:37.22\00:47:38.69 and as they learn to be missionaries, 00:47:38.72\00:47:40.06 they should be able to go out and support themselves. 00:47:40.09\00:47:43.12 So the traits that we've chosen are canvassing, 00:47:43.16\00:47:45.59 and we've been selling books now for six years. 00:47:45.63\00:47:47.73 We've sold almost 60,000 books there in Malaysia 00:47:47.76\00:47:51.13 and another 12,000 in Indonesia. 00:47:51.17\00:47:53.77 But we're adding to that canvassing 00:47:53.80\00:47:55.44 because not everyone can be a canvasser 00:47:55.47\00:47:57.84 especially persons who have come from Islam 00:47:57.87\00:48:00.48 can't really go door to door with religion, 00:48:00.51\00:48:02.51 they'd get killed right away. 00:48:02.54\00:48:04.21 So for their sakes, 00:48:04.25\00:48:05.58 we're adding two other in-house industries. 00:48:05.61\00:48:08.05 One of them is a bakery producing whole wheat bread. 00:48:08.08\00:48:10.85 And that's an expensive thing to get started for us. 00:48:10.89\00:48:14.19 And the other is a tree nursery 00:48:14.22\00:48:16.62 because when I began to put in our orchard there in Malaysia 00:48:16.66\00:48:19.63 just before COVID, 00:48:19.66\00:48:21.20 I found that nurseries in Malaysia 00:48:21.23\00:48:22.93 are nothing like American nurseries, 00:48:22.96\00:48:24.50 you know your American nursery, 00:48:24.53\00:48:26.10 they can tell you which varieties of peaches 00:48:26.13\00:48:28.20 grow in your area 00:48:28.24\00:48:29.57 and what fertilizer you need for your plum trees. 00:48:29.60\00:48:32.11 The Malaysian nurseries just assume 00:48:32.14\00:48:34.01 that all you want is to buy rubber trees and oil palms. 00:48:34.04\00:48:38.31 They don't know anything 00:48:38.35\00:48:39.68 about the various types of fruit trees. 00:48:39.71\00:48:41.65 So we want to start a nursery 00:48:41.68\00:48:43.52 that produces a large variety of tropical fruits 00:48:43.55\00:48:47.19 in a way that can really serve the community 00:48:47.22\00:48:48.96 that we're reaching out to. 00:48:48.99\00:48:50.69 And then we need a water catchment system 00:48:50.73\00:48:52.56 and a solar system. 00:48:52.59\00:48:53.93 So our ideas are big 00:48:53.96\00:48:55.63 for trying to make this hilltop representative 00:48:55.66\00:48:58.43 of God on earth. 00:48:58.47\00:48:59.80 Well, it's good to have vision 00:48:59.83\00:49:01.17 because without vision 00:49:01.20\00:49:02.54 the people perish as the Bible says, 00:49:02.57\00:49:03.91 it's good to go forward in faith. 00:49:03.94\00:49:05.34 But there's a young lady that you alluded 00:49:05.37\00:49:07.01 to the unwilling bride. 00:49:07.04\00:49:09.81 Tell us this young lady's story? 00:49:09.84\00:49:13.65 So her name is Sahar, 00:49:13.68\00:49:15.38 and when she was nine years old, 00:49:15.42\00:49:17.85 she had already received enough physical abuse 00:49:17.89\00:49:20.42 and sexual abuse 00:49:20.46\00:49:21.92 to be very skeptical about religion 00:49:21.96\00:49:25.36 in her Muslim country. 00:49:25.39\00:49:27.00 Already she was very, 00:49:27.03\00:49:29.30 and you know, by the time she was 13, 00:49:29.33\00:49:31.10 sometimes when we're 13, we are not very wise. 00:49:31.13\00:49:35.00 We're not very careful. 00:49:35.04\00:49:37.07 And she blurted out her skepticism. 00:49:37.11\00:49:39.94 And in her family of eight children, 00:49:39.97\00:49:42.14 that skepticism about Islam led to her 00:49:42.18\00:49:45.18 becoming the slave of the family. 00:49:45.21\00:49:47.38 She was beaten mercilessly, 00:49:47.42\00:49:49.85 one of her brothers even raped her, 00:49:49.88\00:49:52.09 and she wasn't allowed out of her room 00:49:52.12\00:49:54.26 for long periods of time. 00:49:54.29\00:49:56.86 Well, fast forward to her 20th year of life. 00:49:56.89\00:50:01.00 And one of our converts in Egypt 00:50:01.03\00:50:04.03 remembered in his home country meeting 00:50:04.07\00:50:06.90 this rebellious teenage girl 00:50:06.94\00:50:08.80 who wasn't really convinced about Islam. 00:50:08.84\00:50:11.87 And he found a way to contact her. 00:50:11.91\00:50:14.34 And he did. 00:50:14.38\00:50:15.71 And he put her in contact with us. 00:50:15.74\00:50:17.61 And we sent her our Bible studies in Arabic. 00:50:17.65\00:50:20.55 And you know, she has become 00:50:20.58\00:50:22.68 a thoroughgoing Seventh-day Adventist. 00:50:22.72\00:50:25.59 Reaching out, doing medical missionary work 00:50:25.62\00:50:27.92 in her own country at the risk of her life. 00:50:27.96\00:50:30.49 But something terrible happened to her just five months ago. 00:50:30.53\00:50:33.63 She got word 00:50:33.66\00:50:35.00 that she was going to be married 00:50:35.03\00:50:36.50 to a man from Saudi. 00:50:36.53\00:50:38.13 And what happens in those cases, 00:50:38.17\00:50:39.53 the Saudi men will come into her poor country, 00:50:39.57\00:50:41.54 that's Yemen. 00:50:41.57\00:50:42.90 And they'll marry a woman, 00:50:42.94\00:50:44.71 keep her for two months of vacation, 00:50:44.74\00:50:46.68 kind of like a prostitute 00:50:46.71\00:50:48.04 and then dispose of her and go home. 00:50:48.08\00:50:50.21 And she lives the rest of her life in shame. 00:50:50.25\00:50:52.85 Well, let's just summarize because our time is short 00:50:52.88\00:50:54.75 and say that God's saved her out of that emergency. 00:50:54.78\00:50:58.69 And now she's working for us missionary in her own place, 00:50:58.72\00:51:03.56 in her own experience, 00:51:03.59\00:51:04.93 knowing what God can do to save her. 00:51:04.96\00:51:07.66 How the sacrifices made for her 00:51:07.70\00:51:09.26 has let her out of that dangerous situation. 00:51:09.30\00:51:12.07 Wow, Eugene, that's amazing. 00:51:12.10\00:51:13.67 You know, you're doing an amazing job there 00:51:13.70\00:51:15.30 as the Director 00:51:15.34\00:51:16.81 of the Institute of East Asia Training. 00:51:16.84\00:51:20.21 And we want people to know 00:51:20.24\00:51:21.58 that if they go to Jesus4Asia.org. 00:51:21.61\00:51:24.95 Jesus4Asia.org, 00:51:24.98\00:51:26.88 you can find ways of sponsoring 00:51:26.92\00:51:29.78 and supporting these projects. 00:51:29.82\00:51:31.32 As Eugene mentioned, 00:51:31.35\00:51:32.69 there are lots of things 00:51:32.72\00:51:34.06 they want to expand that bakery, 00:51:34.09\00:51:35.59 they want to increase the funds for training 00:51:35.62\00:51:38.43 and guiding people 00:51:38.46\00:51:39.79 to the knowledge of Jesus Christ. 00:51:39.83\00:51:41.16 What an amazing project to support. 00:51:41.20\00:51:44.60 We're going to take a short news break 00:51:44.63\00:51:46.10 and on the other side, 00:51:46.13\00:51:47.47 we'll have a few closing thoughts. 00:51:47.50\00:51:49.30 Don't go away. We'll be right back. 00:51:49.34\00:51:50.91
