Praise the Lord. 00:02:18.57\00:02:20.17 And William and Nancy Mack are here to tell us today 00:02:20.20\00:02:22.97 about a very, very special ministry, 00:02:23.00\00:02:26.47 a ministry that is certainly making a difference 00:02:26.51\00:02:29.04 in many people's lives. 00:02:29.08\00:02:30.91 And so, William and Nancy, why don't you 00:02:30.95\00:02:34.15 before we go dive deep into our main topic, 00:02:34.18\00:02:37.79 which is Adventist Child India, 00:02:37.82\00:02:40.22 and we're going to talk a little bit more 00:02:40.26\00:02:41.62 in just a moment about exactly what Adventist Child India is. 00:02:41.66\00:02:45.09 There may be someone new 00:02:45.13\00:02:46.66 and they don't know who William and Nancy are. 00:02:46.70\00:02:49.93 And I think you guys have been here before, 00:02:49.96\00:02:51.30 you said it was a few years ago, right? 00:02:51.33\00:02:52.67 Yeah, few years back, yes. Okay. 00:02:52.70\00:02:54.04 And so why don't you tell us a little bit about who you are, 00:02:54.07\00:02:56.07 where you come from, 00:02:56.10\00:02:57.44 a little bit of your background? 00:02:57.47\00:02:58.97 Introduce yourselves to us? 00:02:59.01\00:03:00.71 All right. Okay. I'll start then. 00:03:00.74\00:03:02.58 Yes, my parents, 00:03:02.61\00:03:03.95 I've been an Adventist all my life. 00:03:03.98\00:03:05.31 My parents worked in the school system. 00:03:05.35\00:03:07.78 And I grew up in California, lived up and down California, 00:03:07.82\00:03:10.85 and ended up in Maryland at the end, 00:03:10.89\00:03:13.15 but I went to La Sierra College. 00:03:13.19\00:03:14.89 And in college, I became a student missionary 00:03:14.92\00:03:18.19 between my junior and senior year 00:03:18.23\00:03:20.20 and spent a year in Zambia, Africa. 00:03:20.23\00:03:22.13 And that's what opened, 00:03:22.16\00:03:23.50 I was 20 turned 21 during that time, 00:03:23.53\00:03:25.93 that's what opened my eyes 00:03:25.97\00:03:27.30 to what's happening in the world. 00:03:27.34\00:03:28.90 And that, you know, United States 00:03:28.94\00:03:30.61 is maybe not just the focus of everything 00:03:30.64\00:03:32.64 or the center of it, 00:03:32.67\00:03:34.01 there's lots of other things going on. 00:03:34.04\00:03:35.38 And that got me interested in. Wow. Praise the Lord. 00:03:35.41\00:03:37.68 So you've spent the majority of your life as a missionary 00:03:37.71\00:03:41.42 working abroad, right? 00:03:41.45\00:03:42.78 Okay. 00:03:42.82\00:03:44.15 No, the last seven years we have now since 2013. 00:03:44.19\00:03:45.52 Oh, last seven years. Okay, okay. 00:03:45.55\00:03:46.89 Before that was a student missionary 00:03:46.92\00:03:48.26 for one full year in Zambia. 00:03:48.29\00:03:49.62 Okay, that's awesome. 00:03:49.66\00:03:50.99 And finished my schooling, 00:03:51.03\00:03:52.36 and then I worked for the church a little bit 00:03:52.39\00:03:53.73 in different ways. 00:03:53.76\00:03:55.10 And now for the seven years 00:03:55.13\00:03:56.46 as Adventist Child India which is, 00:03:56.50\00:03:57.87 which you'll learn about. 00:03:57.90\00:03:59.23 Absolutely. 00:03:59.27\00:04:00.60 And, Nancy, tell us a little bit 00:04:00.64\00:04:01.97 about your background, where you're from? 00:04:02.00\00:04:03.34 Well, if that's a little hard to explain. 00:04:03.37\00:04:05.67 I was born and raised in India. 00:04:05.71\00:04:08.34 I'm a third-generation worker in India. 00:04:08.38\00:04:12.25 And I've traveled everywhere in India, 00:04:12.28\00:04:16.05 as well as being here in California 00:04:16.08\00:04:18.29 living as a teenager, Montana for high school, 00:04:18.32\00:04:21.92 Forest Lake Academy for my junior senior year. 00:04:21.96\00:04:24.96 And then marrying Bill and living in Maryland. 00:04:24.99\00:04:28.93 Now we've moved to Tennessee. 00:04:28.96\00:04:30.53 So that's about, 00:04:30.57\00:04:32.57 well, I've been everywhere on the world. 00:04:32.60\00:04:35.27 I have, like I said, been born in India, 00:04:35.30\00:04:37.84 I have siblings, and we were all born there, 00:04:37.87\00:04:41.44 including my father, born in 1922 in India. 00:04:41.48\00:04:46.21 So we have about 100 and some years of work in India 00:04:46.25\00:04:50.79 that we've been there and doing God's work. 00:04:50.82\00:04:52.42 That's amazing. 00:04:52.45\00:04:53.79 Praise the Lord. Praise the Lord. 00:04:53.82\00:04:55.16 India, and that's what 00:04:55.19\00:04:56.52 we're going to be talking about today. 00:04:56.56\00:04:57.89 How you're going to be sharing with us 00:04:57.93\00:04:59.69 the blessing of how we can help you guys 00:04:59.73\00:05:03.13 do the evangelistic work that you're doing in India. 00:05:03.16\00:05:05.83 And, of course, we're talking about 00:05:05.87\00:05:07.37 their ministry, ministry they're helping with 00:05:07.40\00:05:09.87 and that they are involved with. 00:05:09.90\00:05:11.24 In fact, William, you're, I see here, 00:05:11.27\00:05:12.81 you're the director of Adventist Child India. 00:05:12.84\00:05:15.48 And, Nancy, you were the assistant director. 00:05:15.51\00:05:17.15 So tell us a little bit about why you're here, of course, 00:05:17.18\00:05:20.55 and that is Adventist Child India. 00:05:20.58\00:05:22.58 So inform us a little bit about 00:05:22.62\00:05:24.19 what is Adventist Child India and a little bit of the history 00:05:24.22\00:05:27.09 and how it got started? 00:05:27.12\00:05:28.49 Okay. There is a picture... 00:05:28.52\00:05:30.43 I can start on that. Okay. Yeah. 00:05:30.46\00:05:32.33 So there is a picture I believe you brought with. 00:05:32.36\00:05:34.16 And this is explained to us 00:05:34.20\00:05:35.86 if we can get that picture up really quickly of Dorothy, 00:05:35.90\00:05:39.47 I believe it is, right? 00:05:39.50\00:05:40.84 I believe you were telling me her name is Dorothy. 00:05:40.87\00:05:42.54 Yes. 00:05:42.57\00:05:43.91 You go and tell about your relationship 00:05:43.94\00:05:45.27 and then I'll tell about. 00:05:45.31\00:05:47.34 Mrs. Dorothy Watts is not really Mrs. Watts to me, 00:05:47.38\00:05:51.35 she is Aunt Dorothy. 00:05:51.38\00:05:52.95 I knew her as a child, 00:05:52.98\00:05:54.32 and she and I have the same love for animals. 00:05:54.35\00:05:57.59 Dorothy had a python, she had a monkey. 00:05:57.62\00:06:02.76 And I thought that was a coolest thing 00:06:02.79\00:06:04.49 because I've always thought that animals 00:06:04.53\00:06:06.33 were the wonderful thing to have around. 00:06:06.36\00:06:09.56 She was little concerned about our church, 00:06:09.60\00:06:12.27 because our children 00:06:12.30\00:06:13.64 were just sort of falling through the cracks. 00:06:13.67\00:06:16.00 And so in 2005, she started the program 00:06:16.04\00:06:19.11 Adventist Child India 00:06:19.14\00:06:20.48 to help raise our children in a school 00:06:20.51\00:06:23.48 where they could get English media school, 00:06:23.51\00:06:25.71 and also be able to learn and grow and be healthier, 00:06:25.75\00:06:30.49 be able to have place, safe place to sleep, 00:06:30.52\00:06:32.99 three meals a day, and get their uniform 00:06:33.02\00:06:35.76 and their books and get educated 00:06:35.79\00:06:37.93 so that they could bring themselves up 00:06:37.96\00:06:39.89 as well as their family. 00:06:39.93\00:06:41.26 Wow. 00:06:41.30\00:06:42.63 And so Dorothy in her connection 00:06:42.66\00:06:44.30 with Adventist, she's the founder I'm guessing. 00:06:44.33\00:06:46.13 She's the founder of the Seventh-day, 00:06:46.17\00:06:47.74 I mean, the Adventist Child India. 00:06:47.77\00:06:49.10 Adventist Child India. Yes. 00:06:49.14\00:06:51.01 The reason was that 00:06:51.04\00:06:52.37 there were a lot of baptisms in India 00:06:52.41\00:06:53.94 in the early 2000s. 00:06:53.98\00:06:55.41 And these children are from the poorest of homes, 00:06:55.44\00:06:59.21 literally in villages that would never get educated, 00:06:59.25\00:07:02.52 and they're barefoot in short pants, 00:07:02.55\00:07:04.82 and it's warm, most of India, 00:07:04.85\00:07:07.52 and this is where the children are coming from, 00:07:07.56\00:07:08.89 they speak in their local language. 00:07:08.92\00:07:10.33 So in schools, they can learn English 00:07:10.36\00:07:13.29 and get educated 00:07:13.33\00:07:14.66 and just get out of the poverty level 00:07:14.70\00:07:16.36 instead of the day laborers, that's their parents background 00:07:16.40\00:07:19.87 this is what they are coming from, 00:07:19.90\00:07:21.24 they're uneducated, then, 00:07:21.27\00:07:22.84 so the children can get educated 00:07:22.87\00:07:24.47 and have a much better future. 00:07:24.51\00:07:26.98 So this is, this is, you know, the foundation of the program 00:07:27.01\00:07:30.58 and what we're about that 00:07:30.61\00:07:31.95 so they're already from Adventist programs, 00:07:31.98\00:07:33.85 no one's being converted, 00:07:33.88\00:07:35.22 no one is changing, forced to do anything. 00:07:35.25\00:07:37.72 These are already Adventist children 00:07:37.75\00:07:39.09 that we're helping to get educated. 00:07:39.12\00:07:40.46 Absolutely. 00:07:40.49\00:07:41.82 So tell me a little bit 00:07:41.86\00:07:43.19 how you guys get involved in this? 00:07:43.22\00:07:44.56 Because you've been involved now for about, 00:07:44.59\00:07:45.93 what, seven years? 00:07:45.96\00:07:47.30 And so how did you become involved 00:07:47.33\00:07:48.66 with Adventist Child India? 00:07:48.70\00:07:50.37 Well, it started out in 2008, when I decided I wanted to go 00:07:50.40\00:07:54.14 and do humanitarian service in India, 00:07:54.17\00:07:55.74 because I'd been born and raised there. 00:07:55.77\00:07:57.67 So I started going back and my husband 00:07:57.71\00:07:59.67 was kind enough to keep my business floating 00:07:59.71\00:08:02.18 while I was gone six weeks to eight weeks, 00:08:02.21\00:08:04.81 and I would go and I would spend time 00:08:04.85\00:08:07.02 with the children. 00:08:07.05\00:08:08.38 If I saw children that didn't have uniforms, 00:08:08.42\00:08:10.29 I get them. 00:08:10.32\00:08:11.65 If they didn't have shoes, I'd buy shoes for them. 00:08:11.69\00:08:14.56 If a lady who had become a widowed had no income, 00:08:14.59\00:08:17.39 I get a cow for her, or goats, or sewing machine, something 00:08:17.43\00:08:21.23 and it wasn't like a lot of money being put out. 00:08:21.26\00:08:23.77 But it was a really 1% at the time. 00:08:23.80\00:08:25.93 That's all I could do, 00:08:25.97\00:08:27.30 and it wasn't a lot of money going out. 00:08:27.34\00:08:28.97 And so, I started going and there was a gentleman 00:08:29.00\00:08:31.54 that knew me as a child there 00:08:31.57\00:08:33.24 and saw what I was doing in India 00:08:33.27\00:08:35.04 and sent an email out 00:08:35.08\00:08:37.21 and asking for somebody to come and help with 00:08:37.25\00:08:40.52 the Adventist Child India program 00:08:40.55\00:08:41.98 because they had no director at the time. 00:08:42.02\00:08:44.19 And I was like, nah, I can't do that by myself. 00:08:44.22\00:08:47.22 I need my husband with me. So... 00:08:47.26\00:08:50.46 So you were living in India just I heard? 00:08:50.49\00:08:51.83 No, I was just going back and forth 00:08:51.86\00:08:53.70 doing humanitarian service during this summer. 00:08:53.73\00:08:55.80 Okay, so you were in the US at this time? 00:08:55.83\00:08:57.17 Yes. 00:08:57.20\00:08:58.53 And then you guys were together, 00:08:58.57\00:08:59.90 obviously and so. 00:08:59.93\00:09:01.27 Okay, so now you, you've decided you wanted, 00:09:01.30\00:09:02.70 you didn't think it was for you? 00:09:02.74\00:09:04.21 No, I just said, "No, I can't do that." 00:09:04.24\00:09:06.21 And they kept writing the emails to us. 00:09:06.24\00:09:08.51 And I finally showed them an email to Bill and I says, 00:09:08.54\00:09:11.51 "Bill, I don't know what to do." 00:09:11.55\00:09:14.15 They keep writing these letters asking for me to come. 00:09:14.18\00:09:16.65 And I said, "I'm not going by myself." 00:09:16.69\00:09:18.85 And he was looking at the letter and he says, 00:09:18.89\00:09:20.22 "You know what? 00:09:20.26\00:09:21.59 I think I know this person." 00:09:21.62\00:09:23.49 And I go, "Huh, how do you know this person?" 00:09:23.53\00:09:25.19 He says, "I think I worked with her 00:09:25.23\00:09:26.90 when I was in Africa, as a student missionary." 00:09:26.93\00:09:30.37 Small world, huh? 00:09:30.40\00:09:31.73 And that was the case, so they remembered me. 00:09:31.77\00:09:34.37 So then we both got involved in it. 00:09:34.40\00:09:35.87 So they called us at midnight, our time in the US 00:09:35.90\00:09:38.54 and talked to us for 45 minutes, 00:09:38.57\00:09:40.51 and that's when we thought well, 00:09:40.54\00:09:42.41 maybe we can do it. 00:09:42.44\00:09:43.78 But I was still not sure 00:09:43.81\00:09:45.15 because I had been born and raised in India. 00:09:45.18\00:09:46.61 I knew the culture. I knew the lifestyle. 00:09:46.65\00:09:48.78 I wasn't sure Bill would be able to enjoy that. 00:09:48.82\00:09:51.92 So I cut my program short in the summer 00:09:51.95\00:09:54.66 and he came and visited with me and we traveled to India. 00:09:54.69\00:09:57.43 And after the two weeks he was there, 00:09:57.46\00:09:58.79 I said, "So what do you think?" 00:09:58.83\00:10:00.16 He said, "I think I can do it." 00:10:00.20\00:10:01.53 And we've been there ever since. 00:10:01.56\00:10:02.90 Wow, that's amazing. 00:10:02.93\00:10:04.33 You speak about the culture, 00:10:04.37\00:10:06.60 you knew the culture growing up. 00:10:06.63\00:10:08.07 I have to ask this question because I can imagine 00:10:08.10\00:10:10.17 there's probably someone at home right now 00:10:10.21\00:10:12.97 that's just intrigued or curious, interested in 00:10:13.01\00:10:16.14 what is the major differences between living in the US, 00:10:16.18\00:10:19.08 the culture of Western American culture 00:10:19.11\00:10:21.95 versus that of India? 00:10:21.98\00:10:23.85 What are the conditions like, what is it like living in India 00:10:23.89\00:10:26.35 versus living in the United States? 00:10:26.39\00:10:29.56 I was just thinking this morning, 00:10:29.59\00:10:31.63 turning on the tap at the sink. 00:10:31.66\00:10:32.99 Oh, really. 00:10:33.03\00:10:34.36 There's hot water right away, 00:10:34.40\00:10:35.73 because, of course, we have sinks in India, 00:10:35.76\00:10:37.10 but it's cold water then. 00:10:37.13\00:10:38.87 To get hot water, there's what's called a geezer. 00:10:38.90\00:10:41.40 And that's turned on for, you know, 00:10:41.44\00:10:43.34 10 minutes to get the water warmed up, 00:10:43.37\00:10:44.77 and then you can take a shower, otherwise, 00:10:44.81\00:10:46.57 you could take a cold shower, 00:10:46.61\00:10:47.94 but that's not what you want to do. 00:10:47.98\00:10:49.64 It's pretty cold. 00:10:49.68\00:10:51.01 So even that kind of a difference then 00:10:51.05\00:10:52.45 but it's very interesting. 00:10:52.48\00:10:56.28 And I call it the land of contrasts. 00:10:56.32\00:10:58.55 I mean, you have, you know, 00:10:58.59\00:11:00.42 sometimes you might see a blue tarp tent 00:11:00.46\00:11:03.56 in an open field where someone's living 00:11:03.59\00:11:05.29 and right next to it is a big condominium, 00:11:05.33\00:11:07.30 high rise type thing. 00:11:07.33\00:11:08.66 You know, you can see someone on the street on a bicycle 00:11:08.70\00:11:13.30 and right next to it's a Porsche car. 00:11:13.34\00:11:15.97 You can smell good smells from flowers 00:11:16.00\00:11:18.94 or someone cooking 00:11:18.97\00:11:20.44 and then you have a sewer smell. 00:11:20.48\00:11:22.28 You know, I mean, you know, open sewer type thing. 00:11:22.31\00:11:24.35 So it's just up and down, always interesting, 00:11:24.38\00:11:27.05 never boring, that is for sure. 00:11:27.08\00:11:28.45 And the roads are never like we have in the US 00:11:28.48\00:11:30.95 where you have just cars, okay, or motorcycles, 00:11:30.99\00:11:34.76 whatever transportation 00:11:34.79\00:11:36.12 you have there the Brahman bulls, 00:11:36.16\00:11:39.59 you have the rickshaws, 00:11:39.63\00:11:40.96 you have the bicycles, you have the motorcycles, 00:11:41.00\00:11:42.86 you have the buses, you have the trucks, 00:11:42.90\00:11:44.77 you have people and sometimes you say yourself 00:11:44.80\00:11:48.90 how in the world do they not kill each other? 00:11:48.94\00:11:51.47 But somehow they have this unorganized... 00:11:51.51\00:11:56.11 I call it organized chaos. 00:11:56.14\00:11:57.88 There you go, organized chaos. 00:11:57.91\00:11:59.95 It's, you're right. It's amazing. 00:11:59.98\00:12:01.45 I have a friend who was in who did missionary work. 00:12:01.48\00:12:05.85 I guess it would be called a missionary work in India. 00:12:05.89\00:12:07.96 This was years ago. 00:12:07.99\00:12:09.32 But he brought back a video showing me what it's like, 00:12:09.36\00:12:13.36 the chaos of the driving on the roads 00:12:13.40\00:12:16.56 and what it's like, 00:12:16.60\00:12:17.93 and I'll never forget this particular video footage 00:12:17.97\00:12:19.63 and people just there's like, 00:12:19.67\00:12:21.00 no, no one follows any particular, 00:12:21.04\00:12:23.74 just vehicles crisscrossing paths, 00:12:23.77\00:12:26.84 the whole horn just going crazy. 00:12:26.88\00:12:28.54 And I think he had mentioned 00:12:28.58\00:12:30.51 he's like, Yeah, I was told that, 00:12:30.55\00:12:31.88 you know, you really haven't driven 00:12:31.91\00:12:33.31 until you've driven in India. 00:12:33.35\00:12:34.92 And in this particular video, 00:12:34.95\00:12:36.28 I was watching, he's driving down the road, 00:12:36.32\00:12:37.65 and there's a cow just in the middle of the road. 00:12:37.69\00:12:39.55 And people are just kind of going 00:12:39.59\00:12:40.92 and waving around. 00:12:40.96\00:12:42.29 So I get what you're saying there as far as 00:12:42.32\00:12:43.66 what I saw in that video 00:12:43.69\00:12:45.03 that he had taken of his experience in India. 00:12:45.06\00:12:46.66 So that's different. 00:12:46.70\00:12:48.03 In India, the horns are probably people 00:12:48.06\00:12:50.53 don't like the horns when you first go there. 00:12:50.57\00:12:52.83 But they conversation, I'm here, I'm going by, 00:12:52.87\00:12:56.77 they constantly are communicating 00:12:56.81\00:12:58.91 with their horns. 00:12:58.94\00:13:00.28 And so it's not really that much of a chaos, 00:13:00.31\00:13:03.21 it's more, they know what they're doing. 00:13:03.24\00:13:06.38 And to us, it doesn't look like it but to them, 00:13:06.41\00:13:08.82 they know what's happening, 00:13:08.85\00:13:10.19 they're not worried, they're not upset. 00:13:10.22\00:13:11.55 Another quick point is, as far as the food goes, 00:13:11.59\00:13:14.59 there are no cans, there are no boxes, 00:13:14.62\00:13:16.69 this is all fresh. 00:13:16.73\00:13:18.06 So you go out a few times a week 00:13:18.09\00:13:19.73 to like an open-air market and buy your food. 00:13:19.76\00:13:22.40 And, you know, have it prepared that way. 00:13:22.43\00:13:24.20 But, you know, the dirt from the field 00:13:24.23\00:13:26.03 is on the food and you have to wash it first 00:13:26.07\00:13:27.90 and all that kind of thing. 00:13:27.94\00:13:29.27 So again, just some interesting differences. 00:13:29.30\00:13:30.77 That's amazing. 00:13:30.81\00:13:32.14 That's an amazing contrast between 00:13:32.17\00:13:33.51 what we have here and there. 00:13:33.54\00:13:34.88 But the amazing thing also in India that I like, 00:13:34.91\00:13:37.28 most people in India are very kind, 00:13:37.31\00:13:42.68 they're very giving. 00:13:42.72\00:13:45.15 You're not a stranger. 00:13:45.19\00:13:46.55 You know, when you walk down the street, if you say hello, 00:13:46.59\00:13:49.09 they'll say hello back. 00:13:49.12\00:13:50.53 They'll ask you how you're doing 00:13:50.56\00:13:51.89 when you're in the shops. 00:13:51.93\00:13:53.26 They're always there wanting to help you 00:13:53.29\00:13:55.16 so the kindness is there and they love kids. 00:13:55.20\00:13:58.77 I have never seen an adult in India 00:13:58.80\00:14:02.24 or very rarely seen them be disrespectful to a kid. 00:14:02.27\00:14:05.51 And that to me is a really neat thing 00:14:05.54\00:14:07.08 because I love children. 00:14:07.11\00:14:08.44 So... Praise the Lord. 00:14:08.48\00:14:09.81 Praise the Lord. 00:14:09.84\00:14:11.18 So you guys are the director, 00:14:11.21\00:14:14.98 assistant director of Adventist Child India. 00:14:15.02\00:14:18.02 So if someone were to come 00:14:18.05\00:14:19.55 and they were to just spend time 00:14:19.59\00:14:20.92 with you for a day, what is it that you do 00:14:20.96\00:14:22.82 from day to day for Adventist Child India 00:14:22.86\00:14:24.83 as far as your responsibilities and all that? 00:14:24.86\00:14:27.13 Good question then. 00:14:27.16\00:14:28.50 We have an office 00:14:28.53\00:14:29.86 at the Southern Asia Division campus 00:14:29.90\00:14:31.37 which is in Hosur, India 00:14:31.40\00:14:33.13 where it's about an hour train ride 00:14:33.17\00:14:34.50 south of Bangalore. 00:14:34.54\00:14:36.04 And that's where the campus is at. 00:14:36.07\00:14:38.37 And there's big offices, you know, again, 00:14:38.41\00:14:40.38 this is a division campus 00:14:40.41\00:14:41.74 and our Adventist Child India offices are there. 00:14:41.78\00:14:44.15 We have four workers that work with us, 00:14:44.18\00:14:46.21 and we have desks and computers 00:14:46.25\00:14:48.88 and what we because we do not have an office 00:14:48.92\00:14:51.05 in the US, 00:14:51.09\00:14:52.42 this is all run out of India then, 00:14:52.45\00:14:53.99 your money ends up going through 00:14:54.02\00:14:55.36 the General Conference 00:14:55.39\00:14:56.73 so you can get a tax credit then but all the, 00:14:56.76\00:15:00.00 you know, communication is done through email usually. 00:15:00.03\00:15:06.37 So we're on that a lot, 00:15:06.40\00:15:07.74 of course we communicate with the schools 00:15:07.77\00:15:10.14 and we're trying to, you know, 00:15:10.17\00:15:11.51 there's different people at your school 00:15:11.54\00:15:14.08 that help with the program. 00:15:14.11\00:15:15.51 And so we're in touch with them, 00:15:15.54\00:15:16.88 and they help the kids. 00:15:16.91\00:15:18.25 So just the letters that are written 00:15:18.28\00:15:20.32 and money that subsidies are sent out, 00:15:20.35\00:15:22.88 you know, that kind of stuff and everything. 00:15:22.92\00:15:24.25 Our staff have certain jobs that they do some, 00:15:24.29\00:15:27.96 one is, she pays all the bills and make sure 00:15:27.99\00:15:31.13 all our children's education fine, you know, 00:15:31.16\00:15:33.29 financial part is taken care of, 00:15:33.33\00:15:36.06 then we have another man 00:15:36.10\00:15:37.43 who is very much into dealing with the sponsors 00:15:37.47\00:15:40.34 and making sure they know who their children are, 00:15:40.37\00:15:42.70 and what's going on there. 00:15:42.74\00:15:44.41 And any changes happening, he is in charge of that. 00:15:44.44\00:15:47.44 Then we have another one that does 00:15:47.48\00:15:48.81 a lot of the videoing. 00:15:48.84\00:15:50.18 And a lot of the paying of the subsidies that go out, 00:15:50.21\00:15:54.05 he makes sure that's gone out. 00:15:54.08\00:15:56.12 We also have another gentleman that make sure all the letters 00:15:56.15\00:15:59.32 and all of the kids write letters 00:15:59.35\00:16:02.22 are all there to their sponsors, 00:16:02.26\00:16:06.26 they also give out, he gives out the newsletter. 00:16:06.29\00:16:08.76 He makes sure that their grades are sent to the sponsors, 00:16:08.80\00:16:13.27 their new pictures are sent to the sponsors. 00:16:13.30\00:16:15.37 He make sure that 00:16:15.40\00:16:16.84 their Christmas cards get sent out. 00:16:16.87\00:16:19.44 So there's a lot going on in our office. 00:16:19.47\00:16:22.04 Plus, on top of that, 00:16:22.08\00:16:23.41 Bill and I do a lot of traveling, 00:16:23.45\00:16:24.88 We get to visit all the schools. 00:16:24.91\00:16:26.25 Oh, I can imagine. Bye-bye. 00:18:03.51\00:18:06.35 Bye-bye. 00:18:06.38\00:18:07.72 Can't believe a young man of age 20 is so excited 00:20:12.77\00:20:15.88 about going to another place 00:20:15.91\00:20:17.78 where he has very little contact 00:20:17.81\00:20:19.68 with Christianity, 00:20:19.71\00:20:21.05 but he will be with the tribal village 00:20:21.08\00:20:23.49 and the chief has invited him to come there. 00:20:23.52\00:20:26.02 And he's going to teach the children 00:20:26.05\00:20:27.86 how to read and write, 00:20:27.89\00:20:29.52 he's going to play games with them. 00:20:29.56\00:20:32.23 And he is going to have an experience. 00:20:32.26\00:20:35.53 I can't believe, I wish I was him 00:20:35.56\00:20:37.33 instead of me right now, 00:20:37.37\00:20:38.70 if I can take it before the Lord 00:20:38.73\00:20:40.07 and do that for the Lord. 00:20:40.10\00:20:44.14 I had the privilege of visiting Gabriel 00:20:44.17\00:20:47.28 when he was at the village. 00:20:47.31\00:20:50.55 Coming from the city, you know, you have all your comforts, 00:20:50.58\00:20:53.62 you travel, your houses, 00:20:53.65\00:20:56.52 good roads, fast food joints and things like that. 00:20:56.55\00:21:00.12 But out there is bare necessities. 00:21:00.16\00:21:03.32 These people live on, you know, live off the land. 00:21:03.36\00:21:08.26 They hunt, they go through the forest, 00:21:08.30\00:21:14.00 plucking whatever they can eat to sustain themselves. 00:21:14.04\00:21:18.61 And the fact that two young kids 00:21:18.64\00:21:21.74 are doing this for Jesus is pretty inspiring. 00:21:21.78\00:21:25.75 Wow, that's amazing to see how, obviously, 00:22:45.59\00:22:49.86 Adventist Child India has made a positive difference 00:22:49.90\00:22:52.73 in this young man's life. 00:22:52.77\00:22:54.10 You said his name was Gabriel. 00:22:54.14\00:22:55.47 So tell us a little bit about Gabriel? 00:22:55.50\00:22:57.17 Go ahead. 00:22:57.21\00:22:58.54 Gabriel, I met when he was in 10th standard, 00:22:58.57\00:23:01.08 10th grade at Riverside Adventist Academy. 00:23:01.11\00:23:05.71 I was really impressed with him. 00:23:05.75\00:23:07.08 He seemed to be happy all the time. 00:23:07.12\00:23:10.05 He was willing to lead out in song services 00:23:10.09\00:23:12.62 and pray and worship. 00:23:12.65\00:23:14.72 And it was just so interesting how he just was on fire for God 00:23:14.76\00:23:20.53 even in 10th grade or 10th standard. 00:23:20.56\00:23:22.90 And so I approached him one day and I said, 00:23:22.93\00:23:24.73 "Hey, Gabriel, how about you going to college 00:23:24.77\00:23:27.40 and get an education?" 00:23:27.44\00:23:29.20 He goes, "Oh, I would love to. 00:23:29.24\00:23:30.91 I don't have money." 00:23:30.94\00:23:32.34 I said, "Don't worry about it. 00:23:32.37\00:23:33.71 We'll figure that out." So he's okay. 00:23:33.74\00:23:36.28 "But I need to ask my mom first." 00:23:36.31\00:23:38.98 So I said, "Okay, you do that and you get back with me. 00:23:39.01\00:23:40.92 Here's my phone number, call me." 00:23:40.95\00:23:42.92 So, few weeks later, 00:23:42.95\00:23:44.62 he says, calls me, he says, "Aunty, I'm sorry. 00:23:44.65\00:23:47.86 But mommy says no, I need to come home and work." 00:23:47.89\00:23:51.76 They have a farm 00:23:51.79\00:23:53.13 and she couldn't do it on her own. 00:23:53.16\00:23:54.50 She doesn't have a husband. 00:23:54.53\00:23:55.86 So I said, "Okay, well, 00:23:55.90\00:23:57.23 if anything ever changes, let me know." 00:23:57.27\00:23:59.07 So he's okay. 00:23:59.10\00:24:00.44 Well, a couple months later, 00:24:00.47\00:24:01.80 I get a phone call again from Gabriel. 00:24:01.84\00:24:03.17 Gabriel says, "Aunty, 00:24:03.20\00:24:05.17 can I still go to college if I can? 00:24:05.21\00:24:07.91 You know, my mom says I can." 00:24:07.94\00:24:09.34 I said of course. 00:24:09.38\00:24:10.71 And without asking the director, 00:24:10.75\00:24:13.55 I decided to go ahead 00:24:13.58\00:24:15.32 and say yes, without permission. 00:24:15.35\00:24:17.45 And I said, "We'll figure it out. 00:24:17.49\00:24:18.82 Yes, we'll talk to your sponsor and see if she'd be willing," 00:24:18.85\00:24:21.09 and she was and so he's been in college. 00:24:21.12\00:24:23.53 But before he went to college, he called me again. 00:24:23.56\00:24:26.26 He says, "Aunty, I really, really had a feeling 00:24:26.29\00:24:31.00 that I need to go to this place that's in the jungles. 00:24:31.03\00:24:33.87 It's a long, two or three-hour trek up 00:24:33.90\00:24:36.71 into the mountains, there's no roads, 00:24:36.74\00:24:38.24 there's just the pathway. 00:24:38.27\00:24:39.97 And I just feel I need to go. 00:24:40.01\00:24:41.88 I said, he says, "Can you say tell me can I go?" 00:24:41.91\00:24:44.71 I said, "No, no, no, no, don't ask me. 00:24:44.75\00:24:48.02 What do you feel you're supposed to be doing?" 00:24:48.05\00:24:51.19 He says, "I think I should go." I says, "Then go." 00:24:51.22\00:24:54.22 So he went up. 00:24:54.26\00:24:55.69 And what was so amazing about this young man, 00:24:55.72\00:24:57.76 you know, we as Christians sometimes think that 00:24:57.79\00:25:00.66 we need to just preach and be in the faces of people 00:25:00.70\00:25:05.03 and treat them like we are better than 00:25:05.07\00:25:07.30 they are or whatever. 00:25:07.34\00:25:09.10 And it's not the right way to approach many people, 00:25:09.14\00:25:11.74 I don't think and he didn't either. 00:25:11.77\00:25:13.68 So he went up there and some of the things 00:25:13.71\00:25:15.64 he did that I was really inspired with. 00:25:15.68\00:25:17.85 He would see a lady who was an older lady 00:25:17.88\00:25:20.05 who was having to go 00:25:20.08\00:25:21.42 a couple of miles down the road, 00:25:21.45\00:25:23.05 a hill to get fresh water. 00:25:23.08\00:25:24.75 And he would say, "Aunty, let me do it." 00:25:24.79\00:25:26.59 And he would go and get her the water 00:25:26.62\00:25:27.99 and bring it back daily for her. 00:25:28.02\00:25:29.99 And then there was another couple 00:25:30.03\00:25:31.73 that their homes was falling apart, 00:25:31.76\00:25:33.23 their bamboo, he went and got new bamboo, 00:25:33.26\00:25:35.90 cut it down, refit, you know, fix their home. 00:25:35.93\00:25:38.03 So it was almost like brand new. 00:25:38.07\00:25:39.93 And then also with the gardening, 00:25:39.97\00:25:42.27 he would go out there and help till the soil 00:25:42.30\00:25:44.87 and help plant the produce that they needed. 00:25:44.91\00:25:49.28 And every time he would do that they would go, why? 00:25:49.31\00:25:52.11 Why are you doing this? 00:25:52.15\00:25:53.78 Because you're not even from our village, why? 00:25:53.82\00:25:56.28 "My God told me to." 00:25:56.32\00:25:58.89 Well, at the very end of his stay there 00:25:58.92\00:26:01.16 for a couple of weeks, the chief came and he said, 00:26:01.19\00:26:04.19 "I don't know why you're doing any of this. 00:26:04.23\00:26:06.39 However, we are loving the fact 00:26:06.43\00:26:09.86 that you're willing to help my village 00:26:09.90\00:26:12.30 and my people. 00:26:12.33\00:26:13.67 So why don't you come and start living with us 00:26:13.70\00:26:16.30 and we'll fix it, 00:26:16.34\00:26:17.97 we'll build a little hut for you. 00:26:18.01\00:26:19.47 You can stay in the hut, you can be here, 00:26:19.51\00:26:21.08 you can take care of us, 00:26:21.11\00:26:22.44 we'll get to know you, you'll get to know us." 00:26:22.48\00:26:24.65 He said, "I'd love to but I have to get permission." 00:26:24.68\00:26:28.42 So he said, "Okay, go get the permission." 00:26:28.45\00:26:30.72 So he comes down the hill, calls me and says, 00:26:30.75\00:26:33.76 "Aunty, this is what's happening. 00:26:33.79\00:26:35.12 They've asked me to come and stay there with them. 00:26:35.16\00:26:37.53 What do you think?" 00:26:37.56\00:26:38.89 And again, I says, "Gabriel, it's not what I think, 00:26:38.93\00:26:42.40 it's what you feel that you should be doing." 00:26:42.43\00:26:45.30 And he says, "Well, I think I should go." 00:26:45.33\00:26:46.67 But I says, "Well then go." 00:26:46.70\00:26:48.04 He said, "But Aunty, I don't have the finances. 00:26:48.07\00:26:49.77 I don't have the money to go and live there." 00:26:49.80\00:26:52.67 I says, well, again, 00:26:52.71\00:26:54.18 without permission from my dear husband, 00:26:54.21\00:26:56.01 who's the director, I says, "No problem. 00:26:56.04\00:26:57.78 We'll figure it out. 00:26:57.81\00:26:59.15 We'll sponsor you, we'll sponsor you." 00:26:59.18\00:27:01.78 So but I said, "From you, 00:27:01.82\00:27:03.18 I need a list of everything you're going to need. 00:27:03.22\00:27:06.45 And I need when you get it all sent to me, 00:27:06.49\00:27:09.32 I will send you the money. 00:27:09.36\00:27:10.69 And when you buy all the stuff that you need, 00:27:10.73\00:27:12.76 you will take photos and send it to me." 00:27:12.79\00:27:15.23 "Okay, I can do that. 00:27:15.26\00:27:16.90 So he sent me the list. We sent him the money. 00:27:16.93\00:27:20.04 I got the pictures, and you wouldn't believe it. 00:27:20.07\00:27:22.54 I thought this boy would have bought himself a mat, 00:27:22.57\00:27:25.14 I thought he would be buying himself a stove 00:27:25.17\00:27:27.74 and maybe a propane can to take for gas for the stove. 00:27:27.78\00:27:32.11 Nope. He had a whiteboard. 00:27:32.15\00:27:35.65 He had pencils and pens, he had paper to write with. 00:27:35.68\00:27:39.69 He had books to read from. 00:27:39.72\00:27:41.32 And I called him and says, "Gabriel, why all this? 00:27:41.36\00:27:44.43 Why not things that you would need?" 00:27:44.46\00:27:45.99 He goes, "No, no, that's not my mission." 00:27:46.03\00:27:48.53 I go, "What is?" 00:27:48.56\00:27:49.90 He says, "These people need to learn 00:27:49.93\00:27:51.67 to read and write so that they are educated." 00:27:51.70\00:27:54.27 So he went there, 00:27:54.30\00:27:55.64 and he was there for five months 00:27:55.67\00:27:57.01 living there before he went to college. 00:27:57.04\00:27:58.94 And you saw the video when I was praying for him. 00:27:58.97\00:28:02.04 And you saw some of the pictures 00:28:02.08\00:28:04.05 that was on the video about how he lived. 00:28:04.08\00:28:06.72 And you can see there's no mat, he's not sleeping on a mat. 00:28:06.75\00:28:09.75 And he lived there and when he walked away, 00:28:09.78\00:28:13.12 there were a lot of people that came to God from that. 00:28:13.15\00:28:16.16 Praise God. 00:28:16.19\00:28:17.53 We were told that the children 00:28:17.56\00:28:18.89 there have never picked up a pen or pencil. 00:28:18.93\00:28:20.66 So this is the first time for them. 00:28:20.70\00:28:22.03 And so he taught them the alphabet 00:28:22.06\00:28:23.40 and that kind of thing. 00:28:23.43\00:28:24.77 And he reported to me on Sunday mornings. 00:28:24.80\00:28:27.30 There was no phone connection. 00:28:27.34\00:28:29.74 But he found that if he climbed at least 20 feet up 00:28:29.77\00:28:32.77 into one of the tallest trees 00:28:32.81\00:28:34.81 that he could talk with me and it was crackly and it was, 00:28:34.84\00:28:37.61 you know, not good reception, 00:28:37.65\00:28:38.98 but he could at least do it then. 00:28:39.01\00:28:40.35 And one particular time, 00:28:40.38\00:28:41.78 I could hear a lot of extra background noises, 00:28:41.82\00:28:44.25 a big storm is coming. 00:28:44.29\00:28:45.95 And it's lightning and starting to rain 00:28:45.99\00:28:48.16 and I got to get out of this tree and stuff. 00:28:48.19\00:28:49.72 So you know, it's just kind of unusual. 00:28:49.76\00:28:52.13 You know, in this day and age, 00:28:52.16\00:28:53.50 this is how you still have to communicate 00:28:53.53\00:28:54.86 in some remote places of the world, you know. 00:28:54.90\00:28:57.77 Wow, I got to plug this in here. 00:28:57.80\00:28:59.47 Some people were to hear 00:28:59.50\00:29:00.84 this young man's experience and say, 00:29:00.87\00:29:02.47 "This young man has gone mad." 00:29:02.50\00:29:06.37 And that's exactly 00:29:06.41\00:29:07.74 what we're talking about during this. 00:29:07.78\00:29:09.11 If you're just now joining us, 00:29:09.14\00:29:10.48 we're talking about how you can Go M.A.D. 00:29:10.51\00:29:12.45 Okay, this is an acronym means something positive, 00:29:12.48\00:29:15.18 of course, it means go make a difference. 00:29:15.22\00:29:16.92 And in this case, 00:29:16.95\00:29:18.29 Gabriel is indeed making a difference 00:29:18.32\00:29:20.42 all because of the positive influence 00:29:20.46\00:29:22.36 from Adventist Child India, 00:29:22.39\00:29:25.06 which is what we're here talking about. 00:29:25.09\00:29:26.70 If you're tuning in right now for the first time 00:29:26.73\00:29:28.93 we're talking with William and Nancy Mack on, 00:29:28.96\00:29:32.90 they're the director and assistant director 00:29:32.93\00:29:35.67 of Adventist Child India. 00:29:35.70\00:29:37.44 And you guys are telling us 00:29:37.47\00:29:38.81 how much of a difference Adventist Child India 00:29:38.84\00:29:41.88 has made in these young people's lives. 00:29:41.91\00:29:43.95 And I understand you brought some pictures, 00:29:43.98\00:29:46.68 and you have many more stories to tell us. 00:29:46.72\00:29:48.62 We're going to try to fit those in because to me, 00:29:48.65\00:29:50.65 this is, this is what it's about. 00:29:50.69\00:29:52.02 This is the gospel. 00:29:52.05\00:29:53.39 As you're sitting here 00:29:53.42\00:29:54.76 and telling the story about Gabriel, 00:29:54.79\00:29:56.49 my mind is going to Matthew 25, 00:29:56.52\00:29:59.89 those latter verses where, where it's talking about, 00:29:59.93\00:30:02.20 you know, going into the prisons 00:30:02.23\00:30:04.00 and being with those in prison, 00:30:04.03\00:30:05.37 going in and clothing those who need clothing, 00:30:05.40\00:30:06.97 feeding those who need fed, 00:30:07.00\00:30:08.50 ministering to those people's needs that need that, 00:30:08.54\00:30:11.04 and what does Jesus say to each and every one of them, 00:30:11.07\00:30:13.07 "When you've done this to the least of these, 00:30:13.11\00:30:15.21 you've done this to Me." 00:30:15.24\00:30:16.58 And this is what ultimately the gospel is all about. 00:30:16.61\00:30:19.21 We are as Jesus did to mix and mingle 00:30:19.25\00:30:21.68 and meet the needs of others. 00:30:21.72\00:30:23.05 And that's exactly what Adventist Child India 00:30:23.08\00:30:25.55 is doing in the lives of these wonderful people, 00:30:25.59\00:30:27.89 these young people 00:30:27.92\00:30:29.26 who are probably going to grow up 00:30:29.29\00:30:30.73 more than likely, 00:30:30.76\00:30:32.09 and they're going to be the ones 00:30:32.13\00:30:33.46 to take the gospel to the rest of the world 00:30:33.50\00:30:35.86 before Jesus comes and this is just, 00:30:35.90\00:30:38.07 it's exciting, it's powerful. 00:30:38.10\00:30:39.57 So you brought some pictures, 00:30:39.60\00:30:41.34 you want to look at those pictures right now? 00:30:41.37\00:30:43.10 So let's see if we can get the pictures up here. 00:30:43.14\00:30:44.51 Before we tell the story, I just like to say one thing, 00:30:44.54\00:30:47.18 you know, when we talk about doing, 00:30:47.21\00:30:48.81 the Adventist Child India program 00:30:48.84\00:30:51.58 is helping children. 00:30:51.61\00:30:53.52 I'd like to reverse that. 00:30:53.55\00:30:54.88 I think that it has helped Bill and I become closer together. 00:30:54.92\00:30:59.15 It has made us feel privileged to be able to take care 00:30:59.19\00:31:02.66 of these children and love them and treat them like our own. 00:31:02.69\00:31:06.23 I have three names. 00:31:06.26\00:31:07.60 I am Mrs. Mack, and Nancy Aunty, or Grandma. 00:31:07.63\00:31:12.93 So I have the three or four different age groups, 00:31:12.97\00:31:15.97 they all call me different things. 00:31:16.00\00:31:17.41 And I am thrilled. I'm thrilled to be that way. 00:31:17.44\00:31:19.94 And I'm glad that I've been able to help 00:31:19.97\00:31:21.54 with the Adventist Child India program. 00:31:21.58\00:31:22.91 Amen. 00:31:22.94\00:31:24.28 I heard someone once told me years ago, 00:31:24.31\00:31:25.65 and it's always stuck with me 00:31:25.68\00:31:27.02 that you can never seek true happiness 00:31:27.05\00:31:29.05 until you're serving someone else, 00:31:29.08\00:31:30.79 until you're serving others the way Jesus served. 00:31:30.82\00:31:32.15 Amen. 00:31:32.19\00:31:33.52 And I can see, I can sense that from you guys, 00:31:33.56\00:31:35.22 as you're telling the stories. 00:31:35.26\00:31:36.69 You know, we had a little bit of time 00:31:36.73\00:31:38.09 to sit with each other 00:31:38.13\00:31:39.46 and talk about some of these things 00:31:39.49\00:31:40.83 and other things before, before this program 00:31:40.86\00:31:42.96 and I could just sense the love of God 00:31:43.00\00:31:44.93 in your hearts and minds. 00:31:44.97\00:31:46.30 Obviously, you have, I just praise the Lord 00:31:46.33\00:31:48.77 that you have sacrificed your time 00:31:48.80\00:31:50.74 and your efforts to be over in a third world country India. 00:31:50.77\00:31:55.11 Most people would never find themselves in a situation 00:31:55.14\00:31:57.25 like that unless they were just, you know, 00:31:57.28\00:31:58.75 vacationing or going on some kind of tour. 00:31:58.78\00:32:01.15 But you guys have given your lives to this, 00:32:01.18\00:32:03.12 and I praise God for your efforts. 00:32:03.15\00:32:04.65 Thank you so much. 00:32:04.69\00:32:06.02 So we're going to continue on here, 00:32:06.05\00:32:07.39 we have some exciting pictures to show here. 00:32:07.42\00:32:09.62 So let's pull up this first picture here. 00:32:09.66\00:32:11.96 And you can kind of explain to us 00:32:11.99\00:32:13.33 on each one of these what's happening. 00:32:13.36\00:32:14.70 This is one of our girls that is on the right-hand side, 00:32:14.73\00:32:18.97 she's wearing the blue salwar kameez top 00:32:19.00\00:32:22.07 and her mom and dad and sister. 00:32:22.10\00:32:25.01 Now they are day laborers, her parents are day laborers. 00:32:25.04\00:32:29.64 What does that mean? 00:32:29.68\00:32:31.01 Which means that they work daily 00:32:31.05\00:32:32.38 for a tea plantation and they only get daily wages. 00:32:32.41\00:32:36.92 So if they have the work, 00:32:36.95\00:32:38.82 they work, if they don't have the work, 00:32:38.85\00:32:40.36 they don't work. 00:32:40.39\00:32:41.72 No benefits. This is just day to day living. 00:32:41.76\00:32:44.23 And so she is our third year, 00:32:44.26\00:32:47.86 she's finished her third year of nursing now. 00:32:47.90\00:32:50.70 And she went to Ottapalam Nursing School. 00:32:50.73\00:32:55.70 And her name is Gracelin. 00:32:55.74\00:33:00.14 And Gracelin is the most cheerful, happy, 00:33:00.18\00:33:04.51 loving girl I've met in a long time. 00:33:04.55\00:33:06.72 And she is so, so funny about her she jokes 00:33:06.75\00:33:09.05 and she loves to be, she's a jokester. 00:33:09.08\00:33:11.12 And so, when I found out her history, 00:33:11.15\00:33:13.49 it really surprised me 00:33:13.52\00:33:14.86 because I thought she'd be depressed 00:33:14.89\00:33:16.26 and down and up, you know, not happy, 00:33:16.29\00:33:18.23 and she comes from a family 00:33:18.26\00:33:20.33 where her father is an alcoholic. 00:33:20.36\00:33:22.16 And what happens to these people, 00:33:22.20\00:33:23.53 it becomes a home brewed alcohol 00:33:23.57\00:33:27.60 and they get addicted to it and they can't get away from it 00:33:27.64\00:33:29.84 even when they turn 00:33:29.87\00:33:31.97 to try to be a different lifestyle. 00:33:32.01\00:33:34.04 The mother works very hard. 00:33:34.08\00:33:36.34 And she was really, 00:33:36.38\00:33:37.71 really concerned about her children 00:33:37.75\00:33:39.08 because in this area, 00:33:39.11\00:33:41.82 women are used in many ways. 00:33:41.85\00:33:46.32 And they are abused mentally, spiritually and sexually. 00:33:46.35\00:33:51.96 And her mother was so concerned when they became Adventists 00:33:51.99\00:33:55.66 that she decided that 00:33:55.70\00:33:57.03 she needed to send her daughter away 00:33:57.07\00:33:58.57 to a boarding school. 00:33:58.60\00:34:00.24 And she happened to get into 00:34:00.27\00:34:01.60 the Adventist Child India program. 00:34:01.64\00:34:03.61 So now she's almost through with her nursing, 00:34:03.64\00:34:05.77 in a year's time, she'll be working as a nurse, 00:34:05.81\00:34:09.01 and her sister's also in school now. 00:34:09.04\00:34:11.91 So their parents live in up in the north, 00:34:11.95\00:34:14.45 up in a tribal area. 00:34:14.48\00:34:15.82 West Bengal. West Bengal, 00:34:15.85\00:34:17.19 up in the northeast part of India. 00:34:17.22\00:34:18.55 So that's Gracelin. 00:34:18.59\00:34:20.66 And the next picture would be I believe, this is Giri. 00:34:20.69\00:34:24.46 Now he has a very long name and I can never say it. 00:34:24.49\00:34:27.40 Venkata Giri. 00:34:27.43\00:34:28.76 There we go. Venkata Giri. 00:34:28.80\00:34:30.50 And I can never say it so I just call him Giri. 00:34:30.53\00:34:33.10 Now Giri has become a son to me. 00:34:33.13\00:34:35.77 Giri and I are on the phone 00:34:35.80\00:34:37.87 at least every other week 00:34:37.91\00:34:39.24 even while I'm here in the States 00:34:39.27\00:34:40.61 and he is stressing out right now. 00:34:40.64\00:34:42.81 So guys, please pray for him. 00:34:42.84\00:34:44.31 He has taken his exams. 00:34:44.35\00:34:45.68 He took one exam on the 28th of this month, 00:34:45.71\00:34:48.75 and he's taking his final today, 00:34:48.78\00:34:50.85 it's first On the 30th. 00:34:50.89\00:34:52.22 Thirtieth. Okay. 00:34:52.25\00:34:53.59 So he is definitely stressing, 00:34:53.62\00:34:55.66 and he's getting his last exams done for 00:34:55.69\00:34:57.76 and he will also be a nurse. 00:34:57.79\00:35:00.03 So he comes from a background 00:35:00.06\00:35:03.06 where if you send the pictures on, 00:35:03.10\00:35:04.87 if I think Giri has a few more pictures. 00:35:04.90\00:35:07.24 This is his sister, 00:35:07.27\00:35:08.60 she's in the second year of nursing now, 00:35:08.64\00:35:10.54 and her name... 00:35:10.57\00:35:12.17 Sirisha. Sirisha. 00:35:12.21\00:35:13.91 And this is how they wash their dishes. 00:35:13.94\00:35:15.68 They don't have a dishwasher or a sink. 00:35:15.71\00:35:18.78 She is a young lady that is Giri's sister, 00:35:18.81\00:35:22.98 and they have a sponsor, that is in her 80s, I believe. 00:35:23.02\00:35:28.12 And she's still sponsoring these two children 00:35:28.16\00:35:30.23 to get through nursing. 00:35:30.26\00:35:31.66 And we're so excited. 00:35:31.69\00:35:33.03 Now, he comes from a background 00:35:33.06\00:35:34.46 where his home is really a very, very poor home. 00:35:34.50\00:35:38.23 You'll see hopefully in the next picture, 00:35:38.27\00:35:40.04 where it's made out of brick, 00:35:40.07\00:35:42.47 but they don't have the cement, they have the dirt. 00:35:42.50\00:35:46.27 And every time the monsoon hits, 00:35:46.31\00:35:48.31 it washes the dirt out. 00:35:48.34\00:35:50.55 They don't have a bathroom, they have to go out 00:35:50.58\00:35:53.28 into the fields, they don't have a sink, 00:35:53.31\00:35:55.38 they all are in one room, 00:35:55.42\00:35:56.89 probably, I would say 8 by 10, 8 by 12. 00:35:56.92\00:36:00.19 That's their house, 00:36:00.22\00:36:01.56 where they sleep and they live in. 00:36:01.59\00:36:03.12 And how many people lives there? 00:36:03.16\00:36:04.49 And there's four of them that live in this place. 00:36:04.53\00:36:05.86 Four in this one little space. Wow. 00:36:05.89\00:36:07.23 Brother, sister and parents. 00:36:07.26\00:36:08.60 Again, the father is an alcoholic, 00:36:08.63\00:36:10.70 can't get rid of the alcohol, his mother has had issues 00:36:10.73\00:36:13.77 because she's been carrying such heavy, heavy loads 00:36:13.80\00:36:17.41 in her day laboring in her work, 00:36:17.44\00:36:19.57 that her back is beginning to deteriorate. 00:36:19.61\00:36:22.71 And Giri, of course, is very, very upset about it. 00:36:22.74\00:36:25.98 He can't even, he hasn't been able to go home 00:36:26.01\00:36:28.12 because of the lockdown from the COVID-19. 00:36:28.15\00:36:31.89 So he's in Kerala, and they're up in... 00:36:31.92\00:36:34.79 Many states away. 00:36:34.82\00:36:36.16 Many states away in Andhra Pradesh. 00:36:36.19\00:36:38.53 So he's worrying about his mom and his sister and his dad. 00:36:38.56\00:36:41.83 But I says, "Hang in there. 00:36:41.86\00:36:43.50 Once you get through your nursing, 00:36:43.53\00:36:45.77 you can get a job, 00:36:45.80\00:36:47.14 and you'll be able to help take care of your family." 00:36:47.17\00:36:49.40 So that's Giri. That's amazing. 00:36:49.44\00:36:51.67 Praise the Lord. 00:36:51.71\00:36:53.04 Making a difference in people's lives. 00:36:53.07\00:36:54.71 And this young man is going to go on 00:36:54.74\00:36:56.54 going to become a nurse 00:36:56.58\00:36:57.91 and who knows how many more people 00:36:57.95\00:36:59.28 he's going to affect with the influence 00:36:59.31\00:37:01.15 that you guys have taught him. 00:37:01.18\00:37:02.52 That's powerful. 00:37:02.55\00:37:03.89 We had tried to tell each of our children 00:37:03.92\00:37:05.42 that are going through the nursing program 00:37:05.45\00:37:07.32 or any of our programs. 00:37:07.36\00:37:08.69 When you have a moment, take time for a person, 00:37:08.72\00:37:11.83 give them the feeling that they're loved, 00:37:11.86\00:37:13.80 and that they mean something and that they are worthy, 00:37:13.83\00:37:17.30 they're not useless. 00:37:17.33\00:37:18.87 And that's what Giri does. 00:37:18.90\00:37:20.24 He is an amazing young man when it comes to that. 00:37:20.27\00:37:22.34 Praise the Lord. 00:37:22.37\00:37:23.71 All right, I think we have another picture maybe that. 00:37:23.74\00:37:26.61 Okay, so who is this? 00:37:26.64\00:37:28.38 This is a Rotom Reang and again, 00:37:28.41\00:37:31.95 the northeast part of India, 00:37:31.98\00:37:33.31 but he's brand new to our program. 00:37:33.35\00:37:35.12 He is now just going to be 00:37:35.15\00:37:37.12 into 11th standard, he finished up in 10th. 00:37:37.15\00:37:40.59 And he was baptized just about a year ago. 00:37:40.62\00:37:43.83 He grew up as a Baptist, 00:37:43.86\00:37:45.69 and went to one of the schools up 00:37:45.73\00:37:48.90 in the northeast in Tripura, and got interested 00:37:48.93\00:37:53.67 and was baptized about one year ago, 00:37:53.70\00:37:55.40 but he lives way out in the jungle type of thing. 00:37:55.44\00:37:58.74 And literally no phone, you know, 00:37:58.77\00:38:01.01 obviously no internet connection, 00:38:01.04\00:38:02.38 all of that. 00:38:02.41\00:38:03.75 So it takes about one day to get a message. 00:38:03.78\00:38:05.11 So the principle even to contact 00:38:05.15\00:38:06.48 his parents would, would contact someone else 00:38:06.51\00:38:08.52 who walked over to his village and you know, 00:38:08.55\00:38:10.82 got the message, then it would come back, 00:38:10.85\00:38:12.49 took him one day to go back and forth. 00:38:12.52\00:38:14.32 So he is now going to be a math teacher. 00:38:14.36\00:38:17.66 And so he has two more years left 00:38:17.69\00:38:19.36 11th and 12th, we'll sponsor him 00:38:19.39\00:38:21.36 and then he's going to be sponsored by 00:38:21.40\00:38:23.50 one of the local schools 00:38:23.53\00:38:24.87 and he'll be a math teacher for, you know, 00:38:24.90\00:38:26.94 again in the Adventist school system then. 00:38:26.97\00:38:28.77 So they have very big shortage 00:38:28.80\00:38:31.27 of math teachers for some reason. 00:38:31.31\00:38:32.64 And science. He's going to help that way. 00:38:32.67\00:38:34.01 So in this case, this young man and the others, 00:38:34.04\00:38:35.91 they're all from, 00:38:35.94\00:38:37.28 they all went to Adventist school? 00:38:37.31\00:38:38.65 They all went to Adventist, 00:38:38.68\00:38:40.02 they were they were sponsored by Adventist Child India. 00:38:40.05\00:38:41.45 Right, okay. 00:38:41.48\00:38:42.82 But him in particular, 00:38:42.85\00:38:44.19 just the last two years 9th and 10th, 00:38:44.22\00:38:45.65 he was in a government school before that. 00:38:45.69\00:38:48.09 And then just 9th and 10th 00:38:48.12\00:38:49.46 he went to the Adventist school there. 00:38:49.49\00:38:51.06 And now he will continue on again for 11th and 12th 00:38:51.09\00:38:53.56 but a different school. 00:38:53.60\00:38:54.93 So these young men and women 00:38:54.96\00:38:56.30 through the sponsorship of Adventist Child India 00:38:56.33\00:38:58.60 are being given wonderful opportunity 00:38:58.63\00:39:00.94 of being able to go to an Adventist school 00:39:00.97\00:39:02.97 and get not just an academic education, 00:39:03.00\00:39:05.07 but they're also learning the Gospel of Jesus, 00:39:05.11\00:39:07.78 which is just powerful. 00:39:07.81\00:39:09.31 And then, of course, they're going on 00:39:09.34\00:39:10.91 to as an adults to be nurses 00:39:10.95\00:39:13.35 and whatever it is that teachers and again, 00:39:13.38\00:39:16.38 I mean, we're sending these people out 00:39:16.42\00:39:17.75 in the field to again go make a difference. 00:39:17.79\00:39:19.19 And that's just... 00:39:19.22\00:39:20.56 What's really, really good about our program, 00:39:20.59\00:39:22.66 all of our schools are English media. 00:39:22.69\00:39:25.63 So even if they get only through 00:39:25.66\00:39:27.26 12th standard, they still are able to get jobs 00:39:27.30\00:39:30.90 because they speak English and India has become a very... 00:39:30.93\00:39:35.60 Basically everybody speaks English now. 00:39:35.64\00:39:38.41 So they can get jobs in different places 00:39:38.44\00:39:40.71 like the IT sectors or they can get job at bank 00:39:40.74\00:39:45.91 or they can get a job in a store. 00:39:45.95\00:39:48.65 And instead of only making $1 a day, 00:39:48.68\00:39:51.75 they can make a little bit more than that. 00:39:51.79\00:39:53.82 And so we are really happy 00:39:53.86\00:39:55.26 even if they don't get to go to college. 00:39:55.29\00:39:56.73 Now we have about 35 children that are in college right now. 00:39:56.76\00:39:59.89 So we are blessed because there's sponsors, 00:39:59.93\00:40:01.86 only because of the sponsors. 00:40:01.90\00:40:03.23 Absolutely. 00:40:03.26\00:40:04.60 Because if they didn't do it, 00:40:04.63\00:40:05.97 we wouldn't have the money to do it. 00:40:06.00\00:40:07.34 And that's essentially 00:40:07.37\00:40:08.70 what we're talking about is the fact that 00:40:08.74\00:40:10.71 people like you at home, 00:40:10.74\00:40:12.24 who make that financial contribution 00:40:12.27\00:40:15.54 of some kind to help donate to ministries like this, 00:40:15.58\00:40:18.45 Adventist Child India, 00:40:18.48\00:40:19.85 because of that there's going to be 00:40:19.88\00:40:21.82 so many lives transformed for the better, 00:40:21.85\00:40:24.59 for the good and for the foregoing 00:40:24.62\00:40:26.22 or the ongoing movement of the gospel to the world. 00:40:26.25\00:40:28.96 And I know that we're going to reach that time 00:40:28.99\00:40:31.13 where we're going to be on that sea of glass, 00:40:31.16\00:40:32.76 and Jesus is going to point to that multitude 00:40:32.79\00:40:34.53 and say, all of those people are here 00:40:34.56\00:40:36.70 because of Adventist Child India. 00:40:36.73\00:40:38.53 And so we're going to tell everyone 00:40:38.57\00:40:39.93 in just a few moments of how you can help 00:40:39.97\00:40:41.70 and how you can contribute to this powerful ministry. 00:40:41.74\00:40:44.07 But I think we have a couple more pictures, 00:40:44.11\00:40:45.94 a few more pictures, 00:40:45.97\00:40:47.31 and you guys can kind of summarize 00:40:47.34\00:40:48.98 or tell us the story. 00:40:49.01\00:40:50.35 So here let's look at another picture here. 00:40:50.38\00:40:52.18 And you can tell us the story of this young man. 00:40:52.21\00:40:55.08 This is Salim, and he has a brother, 00:40:55.12\00:40:58.85 Sameer, Sameer. 00:40:58.89\00:41:01.16 And they live up in the Punjab. 00:41:01.19\00:41:02.62 And this is Sameer? Okay. This is Sameer. 00:41:02.66\00:41:04.66 And their father is a farmer, and he raises cows 00:41:04.69\00:41:08.76 and he is able to sell the milk so that they can have the curd 00:41:08.80\00:41:13.20 and the buttermilk and the paneer. 00:41:13.23\00:41:15.60 And people can make it because they do that at home. 00:41:15.64\00:41:18.47 So they're doing really well. 00:41:18.51\00:41:20.11 The kids are in school, they have learned very quickly 00:41:20.14\00:41:23.31 how to speak English, their grades are amazing. 00:41:23.35\00:41:25.45 The villagers are so excited 00:41:25.48\00:41:27.02 to see these kids come up in life, 00:41:27.05\00:41:29.35 that they want their children to go 00:41:29.38\00:41:31.05 and be in the school also. 00:41:31.09\00:41:32.42 So we are blessed that 00:41:32.45\00:41:33.79 these boys are sharing their love for Jesus that way. 00:41:33.82\00:41:36.42 Praise the Lord. And praise the Lord. 00:41:36.46\00:41:37.83 And, of course, we have a few more pictures here. 00:41:37.86\00:41:40.73 I like seeing these pictures. 00:41:40.76\00:41:42.30 So who is this young man here? This is Kima. 00:41:42.33\00:41:44.83 And he has been working for about a year now. 00:41:44.87\00:41:47.24 He went to Spicer College, and he is working 00:41:47.27\00:41:51.11 for a outside company right now. 00:41:51.14\00:41:54.81 And he is doing the IT job business right now. 00:41:54.84\00:41:59.28 And did his master's in commerce 00:41:59.31\00:42:00.75 then to work for the church. 00:42:00.78\00:42:02.65 Yeah, he wants to come back and work for the church. 00:42:02.68\00:42:04.39 But he also has a background where he was an orphan. 00:42:04.42\00:42:07.46 And he has been able to go through 00:42:07.49\00:42:09.12 the Adventist Child India program 00:42:09.16\00:42:10.73 and do really well. 00:42:10.76\00:42:12.09 Wow. Praise the Lord. 00:42:12.13\00:42:13.60 And I think we have one last picture here of, 00:42:13.63\00:42:16.60 is it Ibha, I think? 00:42:16.63\00:42:18.97 Yes, Ibha is the young girl right in the middle. 00:42:19.00\00:42:21.94 And she is working right now 00:42:21.97\00:42:23.64 in the Adventist Hospital in Pune, India, 00:42:23.67\00:42:26.84 and doing really well 00:42:26.88\00:42:28.21 but her background's a little sad. 00:42:28.24\00:42:30.48 What happened with her is her mom 00:42:30.51\00:42:33.11 was trying to take care of her by herself 00:42:33.15\00:42:35.25 and couldn't do it. 00:42:35.28\00:42:36.79 So she decided to commit suicide 00:42:36.82\00:42:39.85 and she's gone. 00:42:39.89\00:42:41.32 And she tried to take Ibha with her 00:42:41.36\00:42:42.86 but Ibha did not die 00:42:42.89\00:42:45.16 and the villagers heard her cries 00:42:45.19\00:42:47.30 and came and found her and took her 00:42:47.33\00:42:49.40 to her grandmother's 00:42:49.43\00:42:50.77 and she stayed with her grandmother 00:42:50.80\00:42:52.13 for probably I would say for about four years. 00:42:52.17\00:42:55.37 And in that time, her mother, 00:42:55.40\00:42:59.24 I mean, her grandmother was doing okay, 00:42:59.27\00:43:02.41 except at the very end, she got really sick. 00:43:02.44\00:43:04.91 And she had to take care of her grandmother 00:43:04.95\00:43:07.68 at a very young age. 00:43:07.72\00:43:09.28 But when they were on a bus traveling one day, 00:43:09.32\00:43:11.85 they had a horrible accident. 00:43:11.89\00:43:13.76 The bus, many people died, her grandmother died. 00:43:13.79\00:43:17.46 And she came away though without a scratch. 00:43:17.49\00:43:20.73 She was, I believe her angels watched over her. 00:43:20.76\00:43:25.13 Of course. 00:43:25.17\00:43:26.50 And she was then sent to her a distant relative 00:43:26.53\00:43:29.87 and she stayed in their home. 00:43:29.90\00:43:31.37 They clothed her, they took care of her 00:43:31.41\00:43:32.77 but she became more of a maid than anything. 00:43:32.81\00:43:35.78 And so after a while she was around 12 years old 00:43:35.81\00:43:38.85 when she decided somebody came 00:43:38.88\00:43:40.42 and asked her if she'd like to go to school, 00:43:40.45\00:43:42.55 in a boarding school and she chose to go, 00:43:42.58\00:43:44.19 and she's been in a boarding school 00:43:44.22\00:43:45.55 all her life since then 00:43:45.59\00:43:47.19 and got her education as a nurse four years. 00:43:47.22\00:43:51.79 And she's working and doing an amazing job 00:43:51.83\00:43:54.66 and we are so happy, 00:43:54.70\00:43:56.03 she was able to come out of her poverty 00:43:56.06\00:43:57.43 from nothing to something. 00:43:57.47\00:43:58.93 Wow. That is powerful. 00:43:58.97\00:44:00.84 It's powerful to hear these stories, 00:44:00.87\00:44:02.74 and how this incredible ministry 00:44:02.77\00:44:05.54 has impacted these people's lives. 00:44:05.57\00:44:06.98 These are children of God, my friends. 00:44:07.01\00:44:09.04 We're talking about God's people 00:44:09.08\00:44:10.41 living during this time for the purpose 00:44:10.45\00:44:13.25 of taking the gospel to the world. 00:44:13.28\00:44:15.52 And obviously God 00:44:15.55\00:44:16.89 is using Adventist Child India to do that. 00:44:16.92\00:44:19.12 I think we have one more video we want to show 00:44:19.15\00:44:22.06 and I think this is kind of a summary video 00:44:22.09\00:44:23.79 of some of these people that we've talked about 00:44:23.83\00:44:26.16 from where they started and where they have ended up. 00:44:26.19\00:44:29.06 So here it is. 00:44:29.10\00:44:31.50 Behind every child lies a story. 00:44:31.53\00:44:35.70 Every tear shed chronicles their suffering, poverty, 00:44:35.74\00:44:39.37 hunger, and pain. 00:44:39.41\00:44:42.24 Yet in the face of overwhelming odds, 00:44:42.28\00:44:45.98 their courage, integrity and strength of character 00:44:46.01\00:44:49.28 inspires us to Go M.A.D. 00:44:49.32\00:44:52.25 Gracelin was forced 00:45:00.96\00:45:02.30 to leave her home at a very young age. 00:45:02.33\00:45:04.83 It was her only means of survival. 00:45:04.87\00:45:07.30 Her alcoholic father, 00:45:07.34\00:45:08.67 who would only drink away his income 00:45:08.70\00:45:10.57 while 00:49:12.31\00:49:17.39 Help us go make a difference. 00:49:17.42\00:49:20.96 Go M.A.D. 00:49:20.99\00:49:22.32 Wow, praise the Lord. 00:49:27.13\00:49:28.93 Go M.A.D. 00:49:28.96\00:49:30.30 That's what it's all about, right? 00:49:30.33\00:49:32.17 We need to learn how to go make a difference. 00:49:32.20\00:49:34.44 And that's exactly 00:49:34.47\00:49:35.80 what Adventist Child India is doing. 00:49:35.84\00:49:37.94 They're making a difference in so many people's lives 00:49:37.97\00:49:41.04 and you know, I can't get that picture 00:49:41.08\00:49:43.38 out of my head. 00:49:43.41\00:49:44.75 I can just imagine that when we get to heaven, 00:49:44.78\00:49:47.25 we're going to see so many different people 00:49:47.28\00:49:48.62 who are there 00:49:48.65\00:49:49.98 because of the influence of our ministry. 00:49:50.02\00:49:51.45 And so I just want to take the last couple of minutes 00:49:51.49\00:49:53.25 we have in this particular segment 00:49:53.29\00:49:54.62 to just give you guys an opportunity. 00:49:54.66\00:49:56.73 There may be someone watching right now 00:49:56.76\00:49:58.19 that says, you know, I want to make a difference. 00:49:58.23\00:50:00.03 I want to be able to give. 00:50:00.06\00:50:02.06 How can they give? 00:50:02.10\00:50:03.43 There was a little segment on that ending portion 00:50:03.47\00:50:05.43 of that video but hearing it from you guys, 00:50:05.47\00:50:07.70 what is it that people can do to make a difference 00:50:07.74\00:50:10.14 for helping in this case Adventist Child India? 00:50:10.17\00:50:13.81 Okay. 00:50:13.84\00:50:15.18 I know that our organization is a little bit different. 00:50:15.21\00:50:18.11 We don't have an office in the US, 00:50:18.15\00:50:20.45 your money is routed through the General Conference. 00:50:20.48\00:50:22.82 So you have a tax receipt, but we're all based in India. 00:50:22.85\00:50:26.35 So really, you would communicate with us 00:50:26.39\00:50:29.09 with the Child Care email address, 00:50:29.12\00:50:32.09 so ChildCare @AdventistChildIndia.org 00:50:32.13\00:50:35.56 We do have a website, you know, www.AdventistChildIndia.org 00:50:35.60\00:50:39.77 that you can learn about us also. 00:50:39.80\00:50:41.40 But you definitely can make a big difference 00:50:41.44\00:50:45.34 and Go M.A.D among with us. 00:50:45.37\00:50:47.14 And it doesn't take much as you saw, 00:50:47.18\00:50:48.58 it's only $35 a month. 00:50:48.61\00:50:50.38 These children are in boarding school. 00:50:50.41\00:50:52.21 So they're getting fed and getting a good education. 00:50:52.25\00:50:55.98 And that's very low amount. 00:50:56.02\00:50:58.49 It costs a lot more here. 00:50:58.52\00:50:59.85 So I know that your money goes a long ways in India, 00:50:59.89\00:51:02.29 and it's 70 rupees per dollar. 00:51:02.32\00:51:04.83 So you just really can make that 00:51:04.86\00:51:07.26 big difference by only spending $35 a month. 00:51:07.30\00:51:11.03 And we really appreciate your help with that. 00:51:11.07\00:51:14.70 And you could also finish up. 00:51:14.74\00:51:16.07 I just have the two posters on the sides here 00:51:16.10\00:51:18.37 that you've been looking at. 00:51:18.41\00:51:19.74 I've started a fund that 00:51:19.77\00:51:21.38 I want to help our children be able to get medical care, 00:51:21.41\00:51:25.21 as well as hygiene care. 00:51:25.25\00:51:27.05 I don't want them to go into survival mode 00:51:27.08\00:51:29.52 and start doing things 00:51:29.55\00:51:30.89 that they're not supposed to do. 00:51:30.92\00:51:32.25 So this is a plead that if you can't do a sponsorship, 00:51:32.29\00:51:36.56 but maybe you can help by sending a donation 00:51:36.59\00:51:39.56 towards these two funds. 00:51:39.59\00:51:41.36 Absolutely, awesome. 00:51:41.40\00:51:42.93 So, at this moment, we're going to point you 00:51:42.96\00:51:45.50 toward this next screen which will tell you 00:51:45.53\00:51:47.57 exactly how you can help Adventist Child India. 00:51:47.60\00:51:51.27 For more information about
