and get their uniform

there were a lot
of baptisms in India

in the early 2000s.

from the poorest of homes,

literally in villages
that would never get educated,

and they're
barefoot in short pants,

and it's warm, most of India,

and this is where the
children are coming from,

they speak in
their local language.

So in schools,
they can learn English

and get educated

and just get out
of the poverty level

instead of the day laborers,
that's their parents background

they are coming from,

Well, it started out in 2008,
when I decided I wanted to go

and do
humanitarian service in India,

because I'd been
born and raised there.

So I started going
back and my husband

was kind enough to
keep my business floating

while I was gone six
weeks to eight weeks,

and I would go
and I would spend time

with the children.

If I saw children
that didn't have uniforms,

I get them.

If they didn't have
shoes, I'd buy shoes for them.

If a lady who had
become a widowed had no income,

I get a cow for her, or goats,
or sewing machine, something

and it wasn't like a
lot of money being put out.

But it was a
really 1% at the time.

That's all I could do,

and it wasn't a
lot of money going out.

And so, I started going
and there was a gentleman

that knew me as a child there

was doing in India

somebody to come and help with

director at the time.

And I was like, nah, I
can't do that by myself.

not going by myself."

I think I know this person."

And I go, "Huh, how

think I worked with her

when I was in Africa,
as a student missionary."

And that was the
case, so they remembered me.

got involved in it.
