Seventh-day Adventist Church

and its wealthier sponsors.

first major response

of the
Seventh-day Adventist Church

was just after the
close of the Second World War,

as we saw the
great need in Europe,

that the church
particularly in America

raised significant
funding and responded to,

obviously the
devastation in Europe.

Then in 1956,

the church
established what was called SAWS

or the Seventh-day
Adventist Welfare Services.

And it continued under
that banner until 1984.

When ADRA as we have it today,

disasters around the globe.

as this pandemic
started to sweep across Europe

and ultimately hit the Americans

is that we had to change the way

We're prepositioned to
respond to an isolated disaster,

perhaps an earthquake in Nepal

or tsunami that

But here we had to
undertake a global response.

That means we had to coordinate

and the manner in
