Is it 60 years? 00:04:26.09\00:04:27.86 Yeah, absolutely amazing. 00:04:27.90\00:04:29.83 And they impact the lives of 15-16 million people 00:04:29.86\00:04:35.07 around the world. 00:04:35.10\00:04:36.44 So now obviously, 00:04:36.47\00:04:37.81 that's not just during this time of COVID. 00:04:37.84\00:04:39.34 But ADRA globally impacts 00:04:39.37\00:04:41.11 the lives of 15-16 million people 00:04:41.14\00:04:43.45 around the world. 00:04:43.48\00:04:44.81 I look at ADRA 00:04:44.85\00:04:46.18 as being the hands and feet of Jesus, 00:04:46.21\00:04:49.28 reaching out 00:04:49.32\00:04:50.65 where there is maybe a devastation, 00:04:50.69\00:04:52.32 sometimes they'll go in after an earthquake 00:04:52.35\00:04:54.16 or after a tsunami 00:04:54.19\00:04:55.62 or after some sort of natural disaster. 00:04:55.66\00:04:57.86 Now in this case, a global pandemic. 00:04:57.89\00:05:00.00 It's all around the world 00:05:00.03\00:05:01.36 and how they're reaching out during that time. 00:05:01.40\00:05:03.53 It reminds me of the scripture. 00:05:03.57\00:05:04.90 Can I share a scripture? That sounds great. 00:05:04.93\00:05:06.27 Yes, please. This is Matthew 25. 00:05:06.30\00:05:07.80 And, of course, you know, 00:05:07.84\00:05:09.17 this is the sheep and the goats. 00:05:09.20\00:05:10.54 Oh, yeah. 00:05:10.57\00:05:11.91 Yes, Christ divided them, 00:05:11.94\00:05:13.27 of course, the sheep on the right 00:05:13.31\00:05:14.64 and the goats on the left. 00:05:14.68\00:05:16.38 And we won't read all of that. 00:05:16.41\00:05:17.78 But Matthew 25:34, it says, 00:05:17.81\00:05:21.82 "Then the King will say to those on His right hand," 00:05:21.85\00:05:24.15 that's the sheep, 00:05:24.19\00:05:25.52 "'Come, you blessed of My Father, 00:05:25.55\00:05:27.36 inherit the kingdom prepared for you 00:05:27.39\00:05:29.46 from the foundation of the world: 00:05:29.49\00:05:31.53 for I was hungry and you gave Me food, 00:05:31.56\00:05:34.86 I was thirsty 00:05:34.90\00:05:36.43 and you gave Me something to drink, 00:05:36.46\00:05:39.07 I was a stranger and you took Me in, 00:05:39.10\00:05:42.30 I was naked and you clothed Me, 00:05:42.34\00:05:44.54 I was sick and you visited Me in prison 00:05:44.57\00:05:48.14 and you came to Me.'" 00:05:48.18\00:05:49.94 And then, of course, the righteous say, 00:05:49.98\00:05:51.31 "When did we do all these things? 00:05:51.35\00:05:52.68 God, we don't even remember doing them for You. 00:05:52.71\00:05:55.58 And He says those most powerful words. 00:05:55.62\00:05:58.15 "And as much as you did this to the least of these, 00:05:58.19\00:06:01.59 you have done it unto Me." 00:06:01.62\00:06:02.96 And to me 00:06:02.99\00:06:04.33 that's what the ministries we're featuring today have done 00:06:04.36\00:06:07.16 is they have reached out with needs, 00:06:07.20\00:06:10.53 more people who have needs, 00:06:10.57\00:06:12.43 reached out to the least of these and help them. 00:06:12.47\00:06:13.80 Amen. 00:06:13.84\00:06:15.17 Yeah, that's powerful 00:06:15.20\00:06:16.54 and we have the opportunity today 00:06:16.57\00:06:17.91 also to help support these ministries. 00:06:17.94\00:06:19.37 So we want to go to this role here just shortly, 00:06:19.41\00:06:21.21 want to also tell you that these are Skype interviews 00:06:21.24\00:06:23.61 and again, with all of the connections 00:06:23.65\00:06:25.61 sometimes the audio's a little bit, 00:06:25.65\00:06:27.78 but just bear with us here as we go to these roles, 00:06:27.82\00:06:29.88 a powerful testimony. 00:06:29.92\00:06:31.55 It's a powerful testimony about what the Lord is doing. 00:06:31.59\00:06:34.16 So Pastor Johnny, 00:06:34.19\00:06:35.52 just a little bit ago was able to sit down 00:06:35.56\00:06:36.89 and do this interview. 00:06:36.93\00:06:38.26 Let's go to that role right now. 00:06:38.29\00:06:41.90 We are ADRA, 00:06:41.93\00:06:43.77 a global community of people helping people. 00:06:43.80\00:06:47.17 Our work reaches women, children and men in need, 00:06:47.20\00:06:51.07 in communities big and small around the world, 00:06:51.11\00:06:54.21 in challenging times and rewarding times. 00:06:54.24\00:07:00.92 We serve humanity, 00:07:00.95\00:07:02.42 so all may live as God intended 00:07:02.45\00:07:05.22 with justice, 00:07:05.25\00:07:08.26 compassion, love. 00:07:08.29\00:07:12.13 Learn more about us and get involved, ADRA. 00:07:15.26\00:07:21.84 Thank you, marvelous things 00:07:21.87\00:07:23.67 that you have seen images and video 00:07:23.71\00:07:26.51 of some of the work that ADRA has been able to do, 00:07:26.54\00:07:30.48 thanks to the grace of God. 00:07:30.51\00:07:32.18 We have with us Michael Kruger, 00:07:32.21\00:07:33.92 President for ADRA 00:07:33.95\00:07:36.02 Adventist Development 00:07:36.05\00:07:37.95 and Relief Agency International. 00:07:37.99\00:07:40.92 And we also have with us Matthew Siliga, 00:07:40.96\00:07:44.86 Vice President for Marketing and Development. 00:07:44.89\00:07:47.50 Both gentlemen have been, have many years of experience. 00:07:47.53\00:07:51.63 For example, Michael Kruger 00:07:51.67\00:07:53.23 provided auditing and consulting services 00:07:53.27\00:07:55.60 for nearly 10 years before joining the ADRA 00:07:55.64\00:07:59.37 as Vice President of Finance in 2014. 00:07:59.41\00:08:03.28 Today, he is President for ADRA 00:08:03.31\00:08:07.48 and Matthew Siliga, 00:08:07.52\00:08:10.39 prior to working with ADRA, 00:08:10.42\00:08:11.95 he served the government of New Zealand 00:08:11.99\00:08:13.56 as communications 00:08:13.59\00:08:14.92 and social marketing strategist, 00:08:14.96\00:08:16.79 where he developed and managed multimedia campaigns. 00:08:16.83\00:08:20.23 Gentlemen, it's a pleasure to have you with us. 00:08:20.26\00:08:24.17 We want to learn more about ADRA, 00:08:24.20\00:08:25.87 what ADRA is doing. 00:08:25.90\00:08:28.20 We know we will only be able to cover 00:08:28.24\00:08:29.60 a small amount. 00:08:29.64\00:08:31.27 But, Michael, you as President of ADRA 00:08:31.31\00:08:35.14 for many years. 00:08:35.18\00:08:37.48 ADRA has been serving, 00:08:37.51\00:08:38.85 I have noticed that for more than 60 years. 00:08:38.88\00:08:41.15 Tell us a little bit more about this arm 00:08:41.18\00:08:43.99 of the Seventh-day Adventist Church? 00:08:44.02\00:08:47.46 John, it is a privilege to be with you today 00:08:47.49\00:08:49.22 to share this a little bit of our history. 00:08:49.26\00:08:50.89 So thank you for the opportunity. 00:08:50.93\00:08:53.33 It's interesting if we look at the history of ADRA, 00:08:53.36\00:08:55.60 and that really goes back 00:08:55.63\00:08:56.97 and one has to look at the history 00:08:57.00\00:08:58.33 of the Seventh-day Adventist Church 00:08:58.37\00:08:59.70 and its wealthier sponsors. 00:08:59.73\00:09:01.47 And really the first major response 00:09:01.50\00:09:03.97 of the Seventh-day Adventist Church 00:09:04.01\00:09:05.34 was just after the close of the Second World War, 00:09:05.37\00:09:08.91 as we saw the great need in Europe, 00:09:08.94\00:09:11.28 that the church particularly in America 00:09:11.31\00:09:12.81 raised significant funding and responded to, 00:09:12.85\00:09:16.32 obviously the devastation in Europe. 00:09:16.35\00:09:18.59 Then in 1956, 00:09:18.62\00:09:20.26 the church established what was called SAWS 00:09:20.29\00:09:23.12 or the Seventh-day Adventist Welfare Services. 00:09:23.16\00:09:25.89 And it continued under that banner until 1984. 00:09:25.93\00:09:29.40 When ADRA as we have it today, 00:09:29.43\00:09:31.53 was incorporated 00:09:31.57\00:09:32.90 by the General Conference Executive Committee. 00:09:32.93\00:09:35.24 And it really for the last about 35 years 00:09:35.27\00:09:37.41 it has operated in that way, 00:09:37.44\00:09:39.01 obviously with some changes to governance structure 00:09:39.04\00:09:41.08 over the years, but fundamentally, 00:09:41.11\00:09:43.48 that's what we find today. 00:09:43.51\00:09:45.61 A lot of the change from SAWS to ADRA 00:09:45.65\00:09:47.92 was a result of how income was flowing, 00:09:47.95\00:09:51.35 and also need to professionalize 00:09:51.39\00:09:53.49 the agency and the growing responses 00:09:53.52\00:09:56.29 around the globe. 00:09:56.32\00:09:57.66 Thank you so much. 00:09:57.69\00:09:59.03 You know, we think of ADRA 00:09:59.06\00:10:00.40 and we think of disaster relief. 00:10:00.43\00:10:02.50 However, ADRA is involved in other things as well. 00:10:02.53\00:10:06.53 How has the... 00:10:06.57\00:10:08.90 Let's call it the Ministry of ADRA 00:10:08.94\00:10:11.37 changed as time has continued? 00:10:11.41\00:10:14.31 ADRA has indeed. 00:10:17.88\00:10:20.12 Sorry, is that Matt? 00:10:20.15\00:10:21.48 Yes, please, Matthew, I mean, Michael, I'm sorry. 00:10:21.52\00:10:24.65 So ADRA has changed significantly over the years. 00:10:28.56\00:10:33.50 We started off as an agency that supported families 00:10:33.53\00:10:38.83 through primarily welfare type initiatives, 00:10:38.87\00:10:41.34 and that's giving people a handout. 00:10:41.37\00:10:43.30 And I'm proud to say that today in the year 2020, 00:10:43.34\00:10:47.81 we're now that agency that gives people a hand up 00:10:47.84\00:10:51.18 and for us, that's this element called Community Development. 00:10:51.21\00:10:54.95 For ADRA, our goal is to get into a community, 00:10:54.98\00:10:58.09 love that community but lovingly say goodbye. 00:10:58.12\00:11:01.89 And if we could say goodbye, 00:11:01.92\00:11:03.43 that means we've had this community 00:11:03.46\00:11:05.79 to sustain themselves for the rest of their lives 00:11:05.83\00:11:09.93 and the lives of their children, 00:11:09.96\00:11:11.30 their grandchildren 00:11:11.33\00:11:12.67 and the next generations to come. 00:11:12.70\00:11:14.14 And I think for me, 00:11:14.17\00:11:15.50 that has been one of the significant changes 00:11:15.54\00:11:18.04 and shifts that ADRA have seen over the years. 00:11:18.07\00:11:21.58 Thank you so much, Matthew, 00:11:21.61\00:11:22.94 I really am glad to hear you mentioned that 00:11:22.98\00:11:25.41 because that's one of the things 00:11:25.45\00:11:26.85 that I have heard about ADRA. 00:11:26.88\00:11:28.68 They go into a community. 00:11:28.72\00:11:30.49 They not only impact the community 00:11:30.52\00:11:32.49 in the present crisis, 00:11:32.52\00:11:33.86 but they leave also something in their hands, 00:11:33.89\00:11:38.49 something that the people have learned 00:11:38.53\00:11:40.10 that they can continue doing better in their lives. 00:11:40.13\00:11:45.37 Michael, can you tell us a little bit 00:11:45.40\00:11:47.50 about what the Coronavirus, 00:11:47.54\00:11:51.17 the impact it has had on ADRA, 00:11:51.21\00:11:53.07 and how ADRA has modified its work 00:11:53.11\00:11:58.48 to continue to minister to people? 00:11:58.51\00:12:02.55 John, it was interesting as we started to watch 00:12:02.58\00:12:05.65 the impact of this pandemic, 00:12:05.69\00:12:07.59 it started something in China 00:12:07.62\00:12:09.39 and then we saw hitting in Europe. 00:12:09.42\00:12:11.83 And as an agency we're prepositioned 00:12:11.86\00:12:14.60 to respond to disasters around the globe. 00:12:14.63\00:12:17.37 And what we found 00:12:17.40\00:12:19.97 as this pandemic started to sweep across Europe 00:12:20.00\00:12:22.37 and ultimately hit the Americans 00:12:22.40\00:12:24.47 is that we had to change the way 00:12:24.51\00:12:26.21 in which we work. 00:12:26.24\00:12:27.84 We're prepositioned to respond to an isolated disaster, 00:12:27.88\00:12:31.41 perhaps an earthquake in Nepal 00:12:31.45\00:12:32.98 or tsunami that hits the African coast. 00:12:33.01\00:12:35.92 But here we had to undertake a global response. 00:12:35.95\00:12:39.72 That means we had to coordinate all of our licensed offices, 00:12:39.75\00:12:43.12 118 of them around the world. 00:12:43.16\00:12:45.93 We had to pivot our business plan 00:12:45.96\00:12:47.96 and the manner in which our logistics 00:12:48.00\00:12:50.50 and supply chains were functioning. 00:12:50.53\00:12:52.83 This also meant that we had to bring 00:12:52.87\00:12:54.57 tens of thousands of staff members 00:12:54.60\00:12:56.71 around the world on to a common platform 00:12:56.74\00:12:59.47 and with a common objective. 00:12:59.51\00:13:01.04 And so we had to change the way in which we communicated. 00:13:01.08\00:13:05.38 We had to, in essence, 00:13:05.41\00:13:06.98 reinvent ADRA's structure overnight. 00:13:07.02\00:13:09.55 Now, obviously, our governance structure 00:13:09.58\00:13:11.09 has been set for many, many years. 00:13:11.12\00:13:12.95 But we had to work in a different way 00:13:12.99\00:13:14.56 in order to be effective 00:13:14.59\00:13:16.46 in terms of our response in those countries. 00:13:16.49\00:13:19.06 And so as we are today, 00:13:19.09\00:13:21.46 we've been able to effectively respond in 70 00:13:21.50\00:13:23.93 of those 118 countries that we are currently licensed 00:13:23.97\00:13:28.47 within the ADRA network. 00:13:28.50\00:13:30.34 It impacts about 2.7 million people's lives 00:13:30.37\00:13:33.51 throughout the globe. 00:13:33.54\00:13:34.88 And to be honest, 00:13:34.91\00:13:36.24 I can only say glory to God for that, 00:13:36.28\00:13:37.75 because to be able to pivot that 00:13:37.78\00:13:40.72 in the matter of weeks, 00:13:40.75\00:13:42.42 it was only with God's blessing and guidance for us. 00:13:42.45\00:13:45.65 Amen. Praise the Lord. 00:13:45.69\00:13:47.02 I understand, you have 00:13:47.06\00:13:50.43 around 6,000 workers and volunteers, 00:13:50.46\00:13:54.46 tell us about your staff. 00:13:54.50\00:13:56.50 You mentioned 118 countries. 00:13:56.53\00:13:58.67 This is a lot of work, a lot of coordination, 00:13:58.70\00:14:01.40 and you are busy all the time, 00:14:01.44\00:14:05.47 even though there are times when we, 00:14:05.51\00:14:09.48 we don't hear about disasters, ADRA continues to be busy. 00:14:09.51\00:14:12.78 Tell us about that? 00:14:12.81\00:14:15.18 As I said we're in 118 countries, 00:14:15.22\00:14:17.19 if you look at our, 00:14:17.22\00:14:18.55 what we call part-time or volunteer staff, 00:14:18.59\00:14:21.42 we're looking at easily 50,000 to 60,000 people 00:14:21.46\00:14:23.93 over and above our full-time staff 00:14:23.96\00:14:25.43 as you've mentioned. 00:14:25.46\00:14:26.90 So obviously that requires a coordination 00:14:26.93\00:14:28.73 right across the board in terms of that. 00:14:28.76\00:14:31.33 We're also obviously then managing flows 00:14:31.37\00:14:34.07 worth of hundreds of millions of dollars annually, 00:14:34.10\00:14:36.91 that flows to those countries 00:14:36.94\00:14:38.31 from various multilateral or bilateral donors 00:14:38.34\00:14:41.28 and also from that wonderful support 00:14:41.31\00:14:43.95 that we get from our private donors. 00:14:43.98\00:14:47.15 We use those funds to match the larger funds 00:14:47.18\00:14:51.55 that are made available by large institutions. 00:14:51.59\00:14:54.36 And so over the years, 00:14:54.39\00:14:55.92 we've been able to expand our impact. 00:14:55.96\00:14:59.26 We're looking at our latest figures, 00:14:59.29\00:15:00.63 I think at the moment, 00:15:00.66\00:15:02.00 we're impacting 00:15:02.03\00:15:03.37 somewhere between 15 to 16 million people 00:15:03.40\00:15:05.30 around the globe annually in terms of our growth 00:15:05.33\00:15:08.77 and our development. 00:15:08.80\00:15:10.14 So yes, as an agency, 00:15:10.17\00:15:11.51 and as you were sharing the history, 00:15:11.54\00:15:12.87 we've certainly gone through significant growth 00:15:12.91\00:15:14.84 and yes, through 2020 00:15:14.88\00:15:17.68 apart from trying to respond to the pandemic itself, 00:15:17.71\00:15:22.32 we're also going through a growth phase 00:15:22.35\00:15:23.89 because a lot more money was made available 00:15:23.92\00:15:26.96 to respond to this pandemic. 00:15:26.99\00:15:28.52 And so, we found ourselves 00:15:28.56\00:15:30.56 having to stretch our capacity globally 00:15:30.59\00:15:33.70 to make that impact. 00:15:33.73\00:15:35.06 But as I said, 00:15:35.10\00:15:36.43 it's through the God's grace we've been able to do it. 00:15:36.46\00:15:38.13 Praise the Lord. Praise the Lord. 00:15:38.17\00:15:39.70 Well, Matthew, 00:15:39.73\00:15:41.34 from the perspective of marketing and development 00:15:41.37\00:15:44.87 as vice president, 00:15:44.91\00:15:46.31 tell us about the response 00:15:46.34\00:15:47.91 a little bit more about COVID-19 response 00:15:47.94\00:15:51.01 with ADRA? 00:15:51.05\00:15:53.31 So the response has been... 00:15:53.35\00:15:56.28 It's just a, it's been a challenge 00:15:56.32\00:15:57.95 and Michael touched on it earlier. 00:15:57.99\00:16:00.46 We're used to dealing 00:16:00.49\00:16:02.52 with one mega disaster at a time 00:16:02.56\00:16:05.03 and responding to multiple projects. 00:16:05.06\00:16:07.23 But you know, within a, at a timeframe, 00:16:07.26\00:16:11.17 responding globally to 70 countries or 70 projects 00:16:11.20\00:16:15.60 has been a real minefield for us. 00:16:15.64\00:16:17.44 But God has been good. 00:16:17.47\00:16:18.81 God has been good. 00:16:18.84\00:16:20.18 And He has blessed throughout this process. 00:16:20.21\00:16:22.28 And we've just seen so many wonderful initiatives 00:16:22.31\00:16:25.78 happening all across the globe. 00:16:25.81\00:16:27.75 And when this happened, 00:16:27.78\00:16:29.65 and I just want to make this very clear. 00:16:29.68\00:16:32.49 You know, ADRA didn't start responding 00:16:32.52\00:16:34.59 when this thing became huge globally. 00:16:34.62\00:16:37.56 Our first response was in Wuhan, China, 00:16:37.59\00:16:40.93 and we're still responding. 00:16:40.96\00:16:42.30 And we're responding everywhere. 00:16:42.33\00:16:44.23 So we've been a part of this since the very beginning. 00:16:44.27\00:16:46.84 And I can tell you that 00:16:46.87\00:16:49.14 when we started responding 00:16:49.17\00:16:50.81 and Michael made this very clear. 00:16:50.84\00:16:55.91 We didn't have enough resources. 00:16:55.94\00:16:58.11 And when I say resources, not just funds but also people, 00:16:58.15\00:17:02.75 manpower. 00:17:02.78\00:17:04.45 We were facing lockdowns in various countries. 00:17:04.49\00:17:07.89 So we had to find a way to stretch and grow 00:17:07.92\00:17:10.76 to increase our impact. 00:17:10.79\00:17:12.43 And I just want to praise the Lord 00:17:12.46\00:17:14.16 that we are the Adventist Development 00:17:14.20\00:17:15.96 and Relief Agency. 00:17:16.00\00:17:17.67 Because that means we had a church community 00:17:17.70\00:17:20.00 to draw upon. 00:17:20.04\00:17:21.37 And we drew 00:17:21.40\00:17:22.74 upon the 22 million Adventists globally. 00:17:22.77\00:17:25.34 And I'm glad to say that 00:17:25.37\00:17:27.34 of the 70 projects 00:17:27.38\00:17:29.18 that we're implementing right now, 00:17:29.21\00:17:31.35 80% of those projects are in partnership 00:17:31.38\00:17:33.98 with the church, the majority of it, 00:17:34.02\00:17:35.72 local church members. 00:17:35.75\00:17:37.35 We've had local church members going to elderly homes, 00:17:37.39\00:17:41.92 giving out PP supplies. 00:17:41.96\00:17:44.66 We've got local church members 00:17:44.69\00:17:46.73 that have joined forces with ADRA 00:17:46.76\00:17:48.66 and have purchased 00:17:48.70\00:17:50.47 commercialize 3D printing machines 00:17:50.50\00:17:53.07 to print free PP supplies. 00:17:53.10\00:17:56.07 We've got church members in ADRA 00:17:56.10\00:17:58.24 in places like South Korea 00:17:58.27\00:18:00.38 that have partnered with the health department 00:18:00.41\00:18:03.75 of the government 00:18:03.78\00:18:05.11 to provide screening and testing 00:18:05.15\00:18:08.12 to all the health workers 00:18:08.15\00:18:10.09 as they come in and forth daily, 00:18:10.12\00:18:12.59 their daily routine. 00:18:12.62\00:18:14.32 So just to see ADRA 00:18:14.36\00:18:15.82 and the church come together 00:18:15.86\00:18:17.33 at a time where we needed to come together, 00:18:17.36\00:18:20.73 and the world has really needed us, 00:18:20.76\00:18:22.53 has been something that I have really, 00:18:22.56\00:18:24.97 really appreciated 00:18:25.00\00:18:26.33 and will never take that for granted. 00:18:26.37\00:18:28.74 And God just continues to bless this partnership. 00:18:28.77\00:18:31.91 Amen. Amen. 00:18:31.94\00:18:33.27 Well, you have provided a video for us 00:18:33.31\00:18:35.44 about the ADRA COVID-19 response 00:18:35.48\00:18:38.71 specifically to Asia. 00:18:38.75\00:18:40.18 Let's go to that video right now. 00:18:40.22\00:18:41.92 This project is called COVID Aid in Mongolia, 00:18:57.93\00:19:01.94 so we're targeting vulnerable households 00:19:01.97\00:19:03.84 in Ulaanbaatar. 00:19:03.87\00:19:06.51 And currently we will be, 00:19:06.54\00:19:08.78 we are targeting 315 households, 00:19:08.81\00:19:12.51 mostly in every district in UB. 00:19:12.55\00:19:16.05 But mostly we're targeting 100 households 00:19:16.08\00:19:18.49 in Bayangol district, 00:19:18.52\00:19:19.85 and 125 households in Chingeltei district. 00:19:19.89\00:19:23.06 And we've selected 00:19:23.09\00:19:24.63 for the first phase of this project 00:19:24.66\00:19:26.36 we selected from various vulnerable groups 00:19:26.39\00:19:30.23 so people with disabilities, 00:19:30.27\00:19:31.60 people with a lot of people in their families, 00:19:31.63\00:19:34.34 just anybody that we believed 00:19:34.37\00:19:35.70 was the most affected from the pandemic 00:19:35.74\00:19:39.24 and has had their reduced income 00:19:39.27\00:19:40.64 or lost their job. 00:19:40.68\00:19:42.01 And for the second phase, 00:19:42.04\00:19:43.38 we're targeting single parents 00:19:43.41\00:19:44.75 or single guardians with three or more children 00:19:44.78\00:19:46.61 because we believe that those people are those 00:19:46.65\00:19:48.95 that are most vulnerable right now. 00:19:48.98\00:19:50.89 Marvelous, praise the Lord. Praise the Lord. 00:21:20.91\00:21:23.08 And this is just part of what's going on. 00:21:23.11\00:21:25.68 You know, you can only put so much in a short video. 00:21:25.71\00:21:29.02 How about Africa? 00:21:29.05\00:21:30.39 I know we have some information on Africa. 00:21:30.42\00:21:32.49 Who would like to speak to that? 00:21:32.52\00:21:34.66 So I'd love to speak to it. 00:21:34.69\00:21:36.49 Africa was my heart. 00:21:36.52\00:21:38.59 Our work in Africa has been, 00:21:38.63\00:21:41.36 when you think of the challenge, 00:21:41.40\00:21:43.47 and you think of how ADRA has found a way 00:21:43.50\00:21:46.17 to work in an area 00:21:46.20\00:21:47.80 where most of our staff 00:21:47.84\00:21:49.20 cannot even leave the grounds 00:21:49.24\00:21:50.77 of their homes or their offices. 00:21:50.81\00:21:53.38 You can just see God's hand in all of this. 00:21:53.41\00:21:56.01 ADRA have worked with 10 separate countries 00:21:56.04\00:21:59.71 within Africa across the three divisions 00:21:59.75\00:22:02.05 to provide PPEs and medical supplies 00:22:02.08\00:22:04.69 to the tune of $7 million. 00:22:04.72\00:22:07.42 And, you know, we went through an assessment 00:22:07.46\00:22:14.03 to analyze, you know, 00:22:14.06\00:22:15.40 we were the hotspots 00:22:15.43\00:22:17.27 and what type of supplies are in stock in that city 00:22:17.30\00:22:20.44 and in that health hospital system, 00:22:20.47\00:22:21.80 and we're working 00:22:21.84\00:22:23.17 with all our Adventist hospital systems 00:22:23.20\00:22:24.77 in those areas, 00:22:24.81\00:22:26.14 to ensure that we could ensure these, 00:22:26.17\00:22:28.21 there was no shortfall, 00:22:28.24\00:22:29.58 and we can provide the services 00:22:29.61\00:22:30.95 that was most needed at this time. 00:22:30.98\00:22:32.95 But healthcare is just one element. 00:22:32.98\00:22:34.95 As you know, as we're seeing in the headlines right now, 00:22:34.98\00:22:38.19 there's a real food shortage happening. 00:22:38.22\00:22:40.56 And this is not just in Africa, this is globally. 00:22:40.59\00:22:43.83 And what I'm pleased to say that in Africa, 00:22:43.86\00:22:46.63 ADRA again in partnership with the church, 00:22:46.66\00:22:49.33 we are activating one of our strategies, 00:22:49.36\00:22:52.00 which is to release our emergency volunteers. 00:22:52.03\00:22:56.50 And over the years, 00:22:56.54\00:22:57.87 ADRA had been training Adventist volunteers 00:22:57.91\00:23:02.38 to be our responders on our behalf to work with us, 00:23:02.41\00:23:05.38 beside us in the field. 00:23:05.41\00:23:07.32 And in Africa, we've trained over 15,000, 00:23:07.35\00:23:09.85 can you believe that? 00:23:09.88\00:23:11.22 Praised the Lord! 00:23:11.25\00:23:12.59 Youth, 00:23:12.62\00:23:13.96 and I'm talking about youth leaders, 00:23:13.99\00:23:15.52 women's ministry, women's ministry leaders, 00:23:15.56\00:23:18.16 and they've taken a hold of the area of food security 00:23:18.19\00:23:24.10 within the continent of Africa, 00:23:24.13\00:23:26.03 and they're growing community gardens, 00:23:26.07\00:23:28.70 because we are looking at food shortages, 00:23:28.74\00:23:31.11 we're looking at an economic crisis, 00:23:31.14\00:23:33.34 that is by far going to outlast this current pandemic. 00:23:33.38\00:23:37.95 And for ADRA right now, 00:23:37.98\00:23:40.08 our focus is on growing sustainability 00:23:40.12\00:23:42.62 to ensuring that communities that are currently vulnerable 00:23:42.65\00:23:45.69 are getting the support they need, 00:23:45.72\00:23:47.52 but also the development they need. 00:23:47.56\00:23:49.72 So after this pandemic, 00:23:49.76\00:23:51.76 they can build themselves back up 00:23:51.79\00:23:53.19 and build themselves to be stronger, 00:23:53.23\00:23:55.90 and in a better place 00:23:55.93\00:23:57.27 to where they were before this pandemic. 00:23:57.30\00:23:59.23 Fantastic. Thank you so much. 00:23:59.27\00:24:01.27 Well, Michael, as President of ADRA, 00:24:01.30\00:24:05.67 I'm sure you have information 00:24:05.71\00:24:07.28 about how ADRA has partnered with the community services 00:24:07.31\00:24:11.58 of the Seventh-day Adventist Church here 00:24:11.61\00:24:12.95 in the United States of America. 00:24:12.98\00:24:14.65 Tell us about this new partnership? 00:24:14.68\00:24:18.72 John, in same way, as we said, we responded around the globe, 00:24:18.75\00:24:23.93 very soon after this pandemic started to hit 00:24:23.96\00:24:27.06 the coast of the United States. 00:24:27.10\00:24:29.70 Many of our Adventist hospitals were facing an inability 00:24:29.73\00:24:33.23 to source protective equipment 00:24:33.27\00:24:34.87 for all of our frontline workers. 00:24:34.90\00:24:37.44 They turned to us and, you know, 00:24:37.47\00:24:39.97 the one advantage that ADRA does have 00:24:40.01\00:24:42.31 is that we have many global partnerships 00:24:42.34\00:24:44.38 with many, many suppliers around the globe, 00:24:44.41\00:24:47.78 and we were able to pivot and actually make supplies 00:24:47.82\00:24:52.02 that would normally leave the United States 00:24:52.05\00:24:54.92 and assistance outside of it. 00:24:54.96\00:24:57.66 We changed our supply chains without assistance, 00:24:57.69\00:25:00.33 brought the supplies in 00:25:00.36\00:25:01.73 and we were able to distribute supplies 00:25:01.76\00:25:03.90 to our Adventist hospitals. 00:25:03.93\00:25:05.60 I think our initial response was at Loma Linda, 00:25:05.63\00:25:07.80 we were running very, very short of supplies. 00:25:07.84\00:25:10.34 And I think we moved in about seven pallets 00:25:10.37\00:25:12.47 of protective equipment into Loma Linda, 00:25:12.51\00:25:15.64 which amounts to tens of thousands of gowns 00:25:15.68\00:25:17.88 and surgical masks and those type of things. 00:25:17.91\00:25:20.62 We were also able to do a response 00:25:20.65\00:25:22.08 at the White Oak Medical Center, 00:25:22.12\00:25:23.92 which is actually located in Silver Spring, Maryland. 00:25:23.95\00:25:26.92 They were literally within days 00:25:26.96\00:25:29.12 of running out of protective equipment. 00:25:29.16\00:25:32.16 And in partnering 00:25:32.19\00:25:33.53 with Adventist community services 00:25:33.56\00:25:35.43 and ADRA just exchange, 00:25:35.46\00:25:36.80 throughout the United States 00:25:36.83\00:25:38.17 we were able to move these supplies on time 00:25:38.20\00:25:40.70 to these respective hospitals 00:25:40.74\00:25:42.30 and meet their very immediate needs. 00:25:42.34\00:25:45.67 We were privileged to meet some of the nurses 00:25:45.71\00:25:47.78 and the doctors who were so grateful 00:25:47.81\00:25:49.84 to receive those supplies. 00:25:49.88\00:25:52.28 One of the young woman nurse, she said to me, 00:25:52.31\00:25:54.72 "You don't understand how scared we were. 00:25:54.75\00:25:57.05 How we've gotten to the point where we didn't know 00:25:57.09\00:25:59.62 if we're going to get supplies, where we going to be safe, 00:25:59.65\00:26:01.86 where we going to be able to go home 00:26:01.89\00:26:03.22 to our families safely at night 00:26:03.26\00:26:05.36 and not take the virus at home." 00:26:05.39\00:26:06.73 So it really is, 00:26:06.76\00:26:08.26 it's been a wonderful privilege to service our hospitals here 00:26:08.30\00:26:11.27 in the United States. 00:26:11.30\00:26:12.63 Fantastic. Praise the Lord. 00:26:12.67\00:26:14.14 And if I could, if I could just jump in, John, 00:26:14.17\00:26:16.44 I really need to share this. 00:26:16.47\00:26:17.87 It's jumping out of me right now. 00:26:17.91\00:26:20.01 God has really blessed in this area. 00:26:20.04\00:26:22.34 Because as I said earlier, 00:26:22.38\00:26:23.98 we were struggling for resources. 00:26:24.01\00:26:26.11 We were cash strapped. 00:26:26.15\00:26:27.48 And one of our donors, 00:26:27.52\00:26:28.85 one of our partners that have been with us 00:26:28.88\00:26:30.85 for a significant period of time 00:26:30.89\00:26:32.79 came to ADRA and offered us 00:26:32.82\00:26:34.66 $2.4 million worth of medical supplies 00:26:34.69\00:26:37.93 and PPEs at a time where hospitals could, 00:26:37.96\00:26:41.93 was struggling to source them themselves, 00:26:41.96\00:26:45.07 to provide to our own hospital systems, 00:26:45.10\00:26:47.40 to provide health care to our communities. 00:26:47.44\00:26:50.01 So again, it's so good to see God's hand 00:26:50.04\00:26:52.87 in all of this work. 00:26:52.91\00:26:54.74 Amen. Praise the Lord. 00:39:41.04\00:39:42.78 Well, let's talk for a moment to Dr. Malcolm Seheult, 00:39:42.81\00:39:46.92 He is a Co-Founder 00:39:46.95\00:39:49.65 and President of GR3 International 00:39:49.68\00:39:52.59 and he's going to share 00:39:52.62\00:39:54.76 some marvelous things with us as well 00:39:54.79\00:39:56.79 because when you hear of the Coronavirus COVID-19 00:39:56.83\00:40:02.66 in the United States of America, 00:40:02.70\00:40:05.07 there is a city that people remember right away 00:40:05.10\00:40:08.84 and that city is New York. 00:40:08.87\00:40:11.84 New York City. Okay. 00:40:11.87\00:40:13.21 So Dr. Malcolm Seheult, if you'll join us. 00:40:13.24\00:40:18.78 Thank you. 00:40:18.81\00:40:20.15 Thank you for inviting us back. 00:40:20.18\00:40:24.45 One of the things about GR3 00:40:24.49\00:40:27.76 is that we have partners all over the world. 00:40:27.79\00:40:30.76 We just can't go to a country 00:40:30.79\00:40:33.96 and land there's boots on the ground, 00:40:34.00\00:40:35.80 so we usually make plans ahead of time. 00:40:35.83\00:40:38.50 One of our partners in New York, 00:40:38.53\00:40:41.24 the Caribbean Cultural Association 00:40:41.27\00:40:44.41 decided that they wanted to help 00:40:44.44\00:40:45.91 the homeless people 00:40:45.94\00:40:47.34 and the governor of New York gave orders to stay in place, 00:40:47.38\00:40:51.41 stay in shelter. 00:40:51.45\00:40:52.85 Many thousands of people had no place to stay. 00:40:52.88\00:40:55.92 They had stairways and alleys. 00:40:55.95\00:40:58.59 They were the real victims of COVID-19. 00:40:58.62\00:41:02.22 So we were able to acquire PPEs, 00:41:02.26\00:41:05.83 personal protective equipment, gloves and masks 00:41:05.86\00:41:08.53 and socks, shoes. 00:41:08.56\00:41:10.47 Many of them were without food, without shoes. 00:41:10.50\00:41:14.40 And we were able to send thousands to them. 00:41:14.44\00:41:18.87 I think the value of that is probably equal to $50,000. 00:41:18.91\00:41:24.48 And keep in mind, this was at a time 00:41:24.51\00:41:26.28 when PPEs were very hard to find. 00:41:26.31\00:41:30.02 So we had to look around and we went to find some PPEs 00:41:30.05\00:41:35.12 for people in New York. 00:41:35.16\00:41:37.29 Amen. 00:41:37.33\00:41:38.66 Praise the Lord that you were able to serve 00:41:38.69\00:41:41.43 in New York in that capacity. 00:41:41.46\00:41:43.80 It's interesting how many companies 00:41:43.83\00:41:46.80 or businesses closed down, 00:41:46.84\00:41:49.24 but in the business of God, 00:41:49.27\00:41:52.07 there's no closed doors, right? 00:41:52.11\00:41:54.28 That's right. Amen. 00:41:54.31\00:41:55.64 You have every opportunity. 00:41:55.68\00:41:57.88 I get excited to hear 00:41:57.91\00:42:00.15 how the Lord provides through your ministry 00:42:00.18\00:42:03.15 to reach out to the locals. 00:42:03.18\00:42:05.65 I'd like to know, 00:42:05.69\00:42:07.49 how can someone get involved in and support GR3, 00:42:07.52\00:42:13.26 because you guys know exactly where to go. 00:42:13.29\00:42:18.10 You have all the experience, 00:42:18.13\00:42:19.53 you've been in ministry over 20 years. 00:42:19.57\00:42:21.90 So you have all of these young people 00:42:21.94\00:42:24.27 all the energies 00:42:24.31\00:42:25.71 necessary to move together in the different countries 00:42:25.74\00:42:30.35 where you have gone to help. 00:42:30.38\00:42:33.72 So I'd like for you to please let us know 00:42:33.75\00:42:36.15 how can our viewers help be part of GR3? 00:42:36.18\00:42:43.02 Well, we thank you. 00:42:43.06\00:42:45.66 We want you to know that we have a website 00:42:45.69\00:42:47.76 gr3international.org. 00:42:47.80\00:42:51.60 And if you go to that website, 00:42:51.63\00:42:53.30 there's page where you can volunteer. 00:42:53.34\00:42:56.17 We want volunteers involved a career's life. 00:42:56.20\00:43:01.04 They don't have to be necessarily medical. 00:43:01.08\00:43:03.28 They absolutely want to serve God, 00:43:03.31\00:43:05.55 serve mankind. 00:43:05.58\00:43:07.18 That's what we're looking at. 00:43:07.22\00:43:09.28 We'll have our phone number 00:43:09.32\00:43:11.12 at the end of this presentation. 00:43:11.15\00:43:14.12 You could call us, 00:43:14.16\00:43:16.83 check us out through this thing. 00:43:16.86\00:43:19.46 Dr. Malcolm, I understand 00:43:19.49\00:43:21.73 we have a few pictures from New York 00:43:21.76\00:43:24.93 that you'd like to share with us. 00:43:24.97\00:43:26.30 Tell us about these pictures, please? 00:43:26.33\00:43:28.20 Sure. 00:43:28.24\00:43:29.57 Well, what you're seeing 00:43:29.60\00:43:30.94 is just a few handful of pictures, 00:43:30.97\00:43:34.11 one or two organizations 00:43:34.14\00:43:36.78 that receive permission to do that, 00:43:36.81\00:43:40.65 to feed homeless people. 00:43:40.68\00:43:44.35 This was at a time when there were orders 00:43:44.39\00:43:46.62 from the Governor to stay in place, 00:43:46.65\00:43:49.22 and there is no food. 00:43:49.26\00:43:52.26 So companies, 00:43:52.29\00:43:53.63 small organizations still went ahead 00:43:53.66\00:43:56.46 and we have volunteers every day 00:43:56.50\00:44:00.07 to give them a hot meal. 00:44:00.10\00:44:01.87 And the homeless people, 00:44:01.90\00:44:04.57 families that had nowhere to go 00:44:04.61\00:44:08.01 were able to come and get food, socks for their feet, 00:44:08.04\00:44:11.85 our masks, 00:44:11.88\00:44:13.72 otherwise there was no other way 00:44:13.75\00:44:15.08 to prepare 00:44:15.12\00:44:16.45 or to get any protective equipment. 00:44:16.48\00:44:18.95 Amen. 00:44:18.99\00:44:20.32 So when we say GR3 00:44:20.36\00:44:22.96 and we talk about first responders, 00:44:22.99\00:44:25.96 we're talking about GR3, that's what you do. 00:44:25.99\00:44:29.16 And apparently we look at the history 00:44:29.20\00:44:33.94 and it appears that every year 00:44:33.97\00:44:35.97 there is a disaster after disaster 00:44:36.00\00:44:38.97 and you guys are involved in these things, 00:44:39.01\00:44:41.38 and you are reaching people firsthand. 00:44:41.41\00:44:43.98 Tell us what you've heard from the people 00:44:44.01\00:44:46.21 that you have served, 00:44:46.25\00:44:47.58 the people that have received food, 00:44:47.62\00:44:49.05 the people that have received the mask. 00:44:49.08\00:44:51.49 Any comments that you'd like to give 00:44:51.52\00:44:53.12 about them? 00:44:53.15\00:44:54.92 Well, we have to give God the glory for everything. 00:44:54.96\00:44:58.53 We are strictly just instruments in this. 00:44:58.56\00:45:01.46 And people of course are very grateful. 00:45:01.50\00:45:04.27 And sometimes they're without words. 00:45:04.30\00:45:06.67 Recent years have been to place, 00:45:06.70\00:45:08.80 Papua New Guinea, Nepal, Jordan, Haiti, 00:45:08.84\00:45:12.67 Central America everywhere we have been. 00:45:12.71\00:45:16.11 It's been received with so much joy, blessings 00:45:16.14\00:45:20.15 and we give God glory for everything. 00:45:20.18\00:45:22.38 Praise God. Thank you so much. 00:48:19.59\00:48:22.36 This is powerful, Idalia, work, 00:48:22.40\00:48:26.07 there's work all over 00:48:26.10\00:48:27.44 and GR3 is one of those ministries 00:48:27.47\00:48:30.01 that is reaching people every day. 00:48:30.04\00:48:33.07 You know, when you talk about feeding people, 00:48:33.11\00:48:34.88 you talk about giving fresh water to people. 00:48:34.91\00:48:37.21 This is a ministry that we need to pray for. 00:48:37.25\00:48:40.78 Dr. Malcolm, our final message for our people 00:48:40.82\00:48:43.75 that are listening to you right now. 00:48:43.79\00:48:47.56 We hear this term, the new normal. 00:48:47.59\00:48:52.23 I don't really understand what that means, 00:48:52.26\00:48:54.86 because I don't know we're gonna have normal again. 00:48:54.90\00:48:57.50 Though God is here in our midst, 00:48:57.53\00:49:00.30 but unfortunately He has been removed 00:49:00.34\00:49:03.17 from spectator sports and removed from schools, 00:49:03.20\00:49:07.48 removed from houses of worship and other places, 00:49:07.51\00:49:11.01 but God is still here. 00:49:11.05\00:49:12.75 There are people that are pleading 00:49:12.78\00:49:14.12 and I believe that our ministry is important, 00:49:14.15\00:49:17.22 critical, vital 00:49:17.25\00:49:19.12 this time to not only spread 00:49:19.15\00:49:20.92 three angels' message the gospel, 00:49:20.96\00:49:23.22 but to help them in these last days. 00:49:23.26\00:49:25.63 Amen. Amen. 00:49:25.66\00:49:27.03 Amen. Praise the Lord. 00:49:27.06\00:49:28.46 Well, if someone wants to partner with GR3, 00:49:28.50\00:49:33.34 we have the website 00:49:33.37\00:49:34.94 and that website is gr3international.org, 00:49:34.97\00:49:40.38 gr3, the number three, 00:49:40.41\00:49:43.04 international.org. 00:49:43.08\00:49:45.41 I'm sure that they can also use funding for these projects. 00:49:45.45\00:49:50.12 If we can't travel there, 00:49:50.15\00:49:53.12 the money can go there through this ministry 00:49:53.15\00:49:55.49 and make things happen for our brothers and sisters. 00:49:55.52\00:49:58.53 Well, praise the Lord. 00:49:58.56\00:49:59.89 Continue to pray for GR3, 00:49:59.93\00:50:01.50 and more blessings continue on 3ABN. 00:50:01.53\00:50:05.37 Amen. 00:50:05.40\00:50:06.74 Thank you GR3 and of course, Pastor John 00:50:06.77\00:50:08.74 and Idalia for conducting the interview. 00:50:08.77\00:50:10.94 Again, an incredible ministry that they're reaching out here, 00:50:10.97\00:50:15.51 even in the midst of this COVID crisis pandemic 00:50:15.54\00:50:18.18 that we're experiencing. 00:50:18.21\00:50:19.58 You know, also like to, you know, 00:50:19.61\00:50:20.95 show that picture of the training center as well, 00:50:20.98\00:50:24.09 you know, that's really a great idea 00:50:24.12\00:50:26.32 of training people, 00:50:26.35\00:50:27.69 not only just for their ministry, 00:50:27.72\00:50:29.16 but also to do things in their community, 00:50:29.19\00:50:31.49 which I think is very important, 00:50:31.53\00:50:32.96 because we all have a part 00:50:32.99\00:50:34.33 like we mentioned a few minutes ago, 00:50:34.36\00:50:36.10 we all have a part to play 00:50:36.13\00:50:37.47 in helping to spread the gospel, 00:50:37.50\00:50:38.83 being the hands and feet, 00:50:38.87\00:50:40.20 as you mentioned earlier of Jesus, 00:50:40.24\00:50:42.54 and that's to help 00:50:42.57\00:50:43.91 where there are needs 00:50:43.94\00:50:45.27 and there are needs all around us. 00:50:45.31\00:50:46.64 Amen. 00:50:46.68\00:50:48.01 And you know, something else I liked 00:50:48.04\00:50:49.38 is I loved the hot meals that they provided. 00:50:49.41\00:50:51.35 The volunteers who brought in the hot meals 00:50:51.38\00:50:54.58 for those people in New York City, 00:50:54.62\00:50:56.08 those who were homeless 00:50:56.12\00:50:57.45 or those who were not able to cook 00:50:57.49\00:50:59.12 or for whatever reason did not have the food. 00:50:59.15\00:51:01.29 So I like that, 00:51:01.32\00:51:02.66 that it's physically helping people. 00:51:02.69\00:51:04.79 It's emotionally helping people clearly 00:51:04.83\00:51:07.53 during time of crisis. 00:51:07.56\00:51:08.96 And there's also that spiritual component. 00:51:09.00\00:51:11.30 So kind of a union of all three. 00:51:11.33\00:51:13.67 So we're so grateful 00:51:13.70\00:51:15.04 for David Canther and Dr. Malcolm, 00:51:15.07\00:51:17.01 and of course, for Johnny and Idalia Dinzey 00:51:17.04\00:51:18.37 for that interview. 00:51:18.41\00:51:19.74 Yeah. 00:51:19.77\00:51:21.11 And then also the work that they're doing in Jordan, 00:51:21.14\00:51:22.48 as well, you know, is another role within 00:51:22.51\00:51:24.58 that role that we shared with you, 00:51:24.61\00:51:25.95 you know, about the work and the needs 00:51:25.98\00:51:27.82 that are around the world. 00:51:27.85\00:51:29.38 And I just think about John 3:16. 00:51:29.42\00:51:32.59 I'm thinking about giving, right, 00:51:32.62\00:51:34.22 we all can give in some way or the other, 00:51:34.26\00:51:36.32 but I think about Jesus Christ and Him dying on the cross, 00:51:36.36\00:51:39.69 John 3:16, a very famous scripture 00:51:39.73\00:51:41.96 in the Bible, 00:51:42.00\00:51:43.33 and that's for God so loved the world. 00:51:43.37\00:51:46.87 That's the entire globe. 00:51:46.90\00:51:48.80 You know, that's incredible love. 00:51:48.84\00:51:50.17 That's everyone, rich, poor, whatever class you're in, 00:51:50.21\00:51:53.84 whatever nationality you are, God loves you. 00:51:53.88\00:51:57.88 And you know He wants us 00:51:57.91\00:51:59.78 to love our brothers and sisters around the world. 00:51:59.81\00:52:02.88 And again, it seems like we're saying 00:52:02.92\00:52:04.25 the same things over and over again, 00:52:04.29\00:52:05.62 I guess we are but that's been the hands 00:52:05.65\00:52:07.19 and feet of Jesus Christ. 00:52:07.22\00:52:08.92 What a privilege and opportunity we have today. 00:52:08.96\00:52:10.29 Amen.
