like to first start

different churches,

You know, I remember years ago,

something that
really stuck out to me

as a child,

I was invited to one
of our local churches,

they were putting on a play,
00:05:06.67\00:05:08.30
a famous play called
Heaven's Gates Hell's Flames.

And I remember
being taken to the church
00:05:13.01\00:05:14.68
and watching the
scene play up before me,
00:05:14.71\00:05:16.61
which basically,
00:05:16.64\00:05:18.08
if you've ever
seen it or heard of it,

basically it's a
play or a dramatization
00:05:19.48\00:05:23.32
that is basically performed,
00:05:23.35\00:05:25.22
and different scenarios
are taking place on a stage,

different scenes.

And most of them are
in connection with people

who have died.

And so immediately
when a person dies,

you know, it may be
someone who's drinking

and then they die,
and they get hit by a bus

and maybe someone is
on a construction site,

and something
happens, an accident, they die.

In every scenario,

they find themselves
immediately in this heavenly,

celestial place,

all the bright
lights and they're...

You know, this music hears...

These angels come
out and they usher,

each one of these
people who have died

into the presence of God,

you can see God
seated on His throne there.

And of course, this
big giant book is up there

and what is your name?

"Oh, my name is this."

flips through the books

the person's in there

Book of Life, per se,

You know, the music plays.

And then in cases
where the name's not found,

they had these
guys cloaked in black

and the door would open

they would come out

and they're thrown

into what is
appeared to be hell.

That is not the
picture that God paints us

in the reference to
the judgment in scripture.

The Bible says in
2 Corinthians 5:10,

and this is where
they get that idea.

reading from the

it says, "For we must all appear

before the
judgment seat of Christ.

That each one may receive
the things done in the body

according to what he has
done whether good or bad."

So people read
that text, pastor,

and they automatically
assume, "Okay, at some point,
00:07:12.19\00:07:14.30
whether it's immediately
at the point of death,
00:07:14.33\00:07:16.13
or you know, prior to
the second coming of Jesus,
00:07:16.16\00:07:18.70
we're going to be
ushered in right there
00:07:18.73\00:07:20.27
to the throne of the Lord."

But when it says that we appear

before the
judgment seat of Christ,

it simply means
that our life's record,

not necessarily

that we're going to
physically appear there,

but our life's record
will come before the Lord,

there will be an investigation.

And some people
don't like that term,

investigative judgment.

But I just want to clarify,

I would hope that all of us

in a righteous right judgment

would want some type
of investigation done

because we wouldn't want
to be in a court scenario

where the judge says,

You know, immediately

without some
type of investigation.

So in this case,

the investigative judgment
is not some twisted scenario

where immediately
at the point of death.

But at some point,
there is an investigation,

appears before the Lord.

all things into account

or whatever the case may be.

That's the executive part

where punishment is delivered

"You're found innocent."

So before this, an
investigation takes place,
