Amen. 00:03:45.05\00:03:46.55 So, we're going to introduce the rest of our guests here 00:03:46.59\00:03:49.32 and want to make sure we hear from each one of you. 00:03:49.36\00:03:50.99 But next to you is Andrew Von Maur. 00:03:51.03\00:03:53.96 You are a professor 00:03:54.00\00:03:55.33 at the Andrews University School of Architecture 00:03:55.36\00:03:58.23 of Interior Design. 00:03:58.27\00:03:59.60 That's a mouthful. 00:03:59.63\00:04:00.97 Did I get all that? 00:11:05.86\00:11:08.00 and our special guests today have truly done that, 00:11:08.03\00:11:11.67 they have gone 00:11:11.70\00:11:13.03 where maybe it wasn't the easiest place to go. 00:11:13.07\00:11:15.14 But they have gone because the Lord Jesus 00:11:15.17\00:11:17.21 has a call on their lives. 00:11:17.24\00:11:19.41 So, Cynthia Prime is the CEO and co-founder of SOHO, 00:11:19.44\00:11:23.68 which is Saving Orphans 00:11:23.71\00:11:25.31 Through Healthcare And Outreach. 00:11:25.35\00:11:27.48 And with you is professor at Andrews 00:11:27.52\00:11:30.52 along with some students from Andrews, 00:11:30.55\00:11:32.85 and we're excited to hear what God is doing 00:11:32.89\00:11:34.56 but take us back, Cynthia, to the beginning of SOHO, 00:11:34.59\00:11:38.39 and when God dropped this dream into your heart? 00:11:38.43\00:11:42.00 Well, I love the song, I will go, 00:11:42.03\00:11:43.87 because what you find out when you surrender 00:11:43.90\00:11:46.84 and you really give yourself, 00:11:46.87\00:11:48.44 it's an unpredictable journey. 00:11:48.47\00:11:51.31 But for young people who think God is boring. 00:11:51.34\00:11:53.51 I tell them He rocks. 00:11:53.54\00:11:55.64 He does, you know, 00:11:55.68\00:11:57.81 if you picture just having a speaking engagement 00:11:57.85\00:12:00.35 out there and feeling the call of God 00:12:00.38\00:12:02.75 because one third of the population 00:12:02.78\00:12:04.69 was HIV positive. 00:12:04.72\00:12:06.55 This was in Swaziland? 00:12:06.59\00:12:07.92 Yes, in Swaziland, 00:12:07.96\00:12:09.29 and you had a mushrooming population 00:12:09.32\00:12:12.23 of orphans and vulnerable children. 00:12:12.26\00:12:15.03 Going there and seeing smiles that didn't meet their needs, 00:12:15.06\00:12:18.17 seeing the number and hearing that call from God. 00:12:18.20\00:12:22.10 It was to quit my job as a consultant, 00:12:22.14\00:12:25.24 beautiful office with nothing under you. 00:12:25.27\00:12:28.01 So sometimes He says, put your foot into the Jordan, 00:12:28.04\00:12:30.85 nothing under you. 00:12:30.88\00:12:32.45 And what I love, 00:12:32.48\00:12:33.82 what we want to share today is to see 00:12:33.85\00:12:35.72 what God would do with nothing. 00:12:35.75\00:12:37.59 Amen. 00:12:37.62\00:12:38.95 With nothing, 00:12:38.99\00:12:40.32 He doesn't say what do you have? 00:12:40.36\00:12:41.96 He says, what would you surrender? 00:12:41.99\00:12:44.16 Oh, that's deep. 00:12:44.19\00:12:45.53 I think it's good for us to start with a video 00:12:45.56\00:12:47.60 that really takes us back, 00:12:47.63\00:12:48.96 that shows you a bit visually where we were 00:12:49.00\00:12:52.37 and that will put some context into the discussion. 00:12:52.40\00:12:55.30 Perfect. 00:12:55.34\00:12:56.67 The story begins in 2006 with the HIV AIDS pandemic 00:13:02.48\00:13:06.82 sweeping Swaziland, 00:13:06.85\00:13:08.65 the last remaining absolute monarchy in Africa. 00:13:08.68\00:13:12.62 In a population of 1.3 million, 00:13:12.65\00:13:15.36 33% of the people were affected, 00:13:15.39\00:13:18.39 leaving 150,000 children orphaned and vulnerable. 00:13:18.43\00:13:23.26 That's when Cynthia Prime arrived, 00:13:23.30\00:13:25.17 with an international team of volunteers, 00:13:25.20\00:13:28.04 who had heard her interview with Danny Shelton on 3ABN 00:13:28.07\00:13:31.47 and had come to help. 00:13:31.51\00:13:33.64 The country was scrambling 00:13:33.68\00:13:35.01 to put support systems in place. 00:13:35.04\00:13:37.65 Children were parenting siblings, 00:13:37.68\00:13:40.65 and in some tragic cases, 00:13:40.68\00:13:42.75 becoming parents themselves before their teens. 00:13:42.78\00:13:46.72 Cynthia Prime quit her corporate job 00:13:46.76\00:13:49.09 to become a full time volunteer serving orphans, 00:13:49.12\00:13:52.13 because she felt it was what God 00:13:52.16\00:13:54.00 would have her do. 00:13:54.03\00:13:55.76 SOHO volunteer teams conducted mobile clinics, 00:13:55.80\00:13:59.07 distributed container loads of clothing and supplies, 00:13:59.10\00:14:02.44 and fed hundreds of children. 00:14:02.47\00:14:05.21 In a rural mountainous community 00:14:05.24\00:14:06.94 called umshove shane, 00:14:06.98\00:14:08.64 SOHO encountered grannies like Maisie, 00:14:08.68\00:14:11.41 caring for 17 children in one small room. 00:14:11.45\00:14:15.68 A home was built for her. 00:14:15.72\00:14:17.92 Relationships were developed with area schools 00:14:17.95\00:14:20.66 and orphans with the greatest need were fed. 00:14:20.69\00:14:23.83 A 4000 square foot welcome place was built, 00:14:23.86\00:14:26.80 to house a preschool, 00:14:26.83\00:14:28.36 feeding program, and periodic clinics. 00:14:28.40\00:14:32.03 At slum Vane, 00:14:32.07\00:14:33.44 SOHO discovered children daily, 00:14:33.47\00:14:35.44 scrounging for food under a tree. 00:14:35.47\00:14:38.47 Lorraine Hope, 00:14:38.51\00:14:39.84 an elderly retired nurse from New Zealand 00:14:39.87\00:14:41.94 did a pencil sketch of a structure 00:14:41.98\00:14:44.15 and then raised the funds to build a preschool. 00:14:44.18\00:14:47.52 Today, it is Hope Discovery Learning Center, 00:14:47.55\00:14:50.75 one of the country's first classrooms 00:14:50.79\00:14:52.55 serving children with disabilities. 00:14:52.59\00:14:55.46 In nearby Mara camp, considered a squatter camp. 00:14:55.49\00:14:59.16 SOHO's outreach coordinator Pastor Melvin Moyo 00:14:59.19\00:15:02.43 has recruited children at risk of abuse 00:15:02.46\00:15:04.70 to attend Hope Discovery Learning Center. 00:15:04.73\00:15:07.60 Primary schoolboys 00:15:07.64\00:15:08.97 who had been taught to make Marula beer, 00:15:09.00\00:15:11.27 now learn life skills through soccer. 00:15:11.31\00:15:14.21 Girls are being nurtured at an annual camp 00:15:14.24\00:15:17.21 serving 150 children. 00:15:17.25\00:15:19.55 God had bigger plans for His children. 00:15:19.58\00:15:23.15 SOHO needed to address the issues of abuse, 00:15:23.18\00:15:27.16 as one in three girls become victims of predators 00:15:27.19\00:15:30.33 before their teens. 00:15:30.36\00:15:32.39 Hunger, 00:15:32.43\00:15:33.76 as food insecurity leads to physical insecurity. 00:15:33.80\00:15:37.70 Opportunities for schooling 00:15:37.73\00:15:39.73 as only 20% of students finish high school 00:15:39.77\00:15:42.64 and only 5% are able to attend college. 00:15:42.67\00:15:46.37 And human trafficking, 00:15:46.41\00:15:48.44 as poverty and lack of safe parenting, 00:15:48.48\00:15:50.95 continues the cycle of abuse and exploitation. 00:15:50.98\00:15:55.38 For eight years, 00:15:55.42\00:15:56.89 the SOHO team prayed for land 00:15:56.92\00:15:58.52 with title and deed that could be purchased, 00:15:58.55\00:16:01.02 where safe housing could be built for children 00:16:01.06\00:16:03.26 at great risk. 00:16:03.29\00:16:05.43 We asked for 30 acres. 00:16:05.46\00:16:08.53 When God replied, 00:16:08.56\00:16:10.40 He made one of the best farms in Swaziland available 00:16:10.43\00:16:13.90 in a truly miraculous fashion. 00:16:13.94\00:16:17.01 More than 1000 scenic acres, 00:16:17.04\00:16:19.74 fenced, well-watered, 00:16:19.77\00:16:21.48 with a new farmhouse and a macadamia nut plantation. 00:16:21.51\00:16:25.71 On this, SOHO will establish a children's village, 00:16:25.75\00:16:29.48 as well as social enterprise and agriculture 00:16:29.52\00:16:32.35 to support the village 00:16:32.39\00:16:33.76 and provide opportunity for skills training. 00:16:33.79\00:16:36.83 This is a God-sized dream. 00:16:36.86\00:16:40.33 Intsaba, 00:16:40.36\00:16:42.26 a mountain village where children can learn 00:16:42.30\00:16:45.60 how much God loves them. 00:16:45.63\00:16:47.47 Wow, that's amazing 00:17:01.42\00:17:03.85 to see the need, to see the pain, 00:17:03.89\00:17:07.52 and then to see what God is doing through SOHO, 00:17:07.56\00:17:10.83 and what God did then, 00:17:10.86\00:17:12.23 in the school in being developed 00:17:12.26\00:17:14.16 and that was by volunteers, is that correct? 00:17:14.20\00:17:16.00 Yes. Yes, it is. 00:17:16.03\00:17:17.93 It is amazing that the volunteers, 00:17:17.97\00:17:21.34 one of the schools, the one that serves children, 00:17:21.37\00:17:24.11 the first in the country 00:17:24.14\00:17:25.84 to serve children with disabilities, 00:17:25.87\00:17:28.24 who are considered cursed, you know, 00:17:28.28\00:17:31.18 it's an elderly nurse from Australia, 00:17:31.21\00:17:33.65 one of the first volunteers to Swaziland, 00:17:33.68\00:17:36.72 who heard the program on 3ABN, 00:17:36.75\00:17:38.35 when I was being interviewed, true thing raised the money. 00:17:38.39\00:17:42.52 And that was the first part of that school 00:17:42.56\00:17:44.73 that is now known as Hope Discovery Learning Center. 00:17:44.76\00:17:48.43 And it is really a lighthouse in that community. 00:17:48.46\00:17:50.47 The other, the larger building, serves children. 00:17:50.50\00:17:54.34 We do clinics there, 00:17:54.37\00:17:56.34 we've done a lot of work there. 00:17:56.37\00:17:57.77 But I think when you look at the need, 00:17:57.81\00:18:00.28 if you look at a population 00:18:00.31\00:18:01.74 where more than 50% of the population 00:18:01.78\00:18:04.45 is under the age of 20, it's a young population. 00:18:04.48\00:18:10.09 When you look at children, you know, 00:18:10.12\00:18:14.49 not even having the basics. 00:18:14.52\00:18:17.06 But what is so touching, 00:18:17.09\00:18:18.93 Jill, it is mainly volunteers, mainly volunteers, 00:18:18.96\00:18:23.10 we have very small staff that we have, 00:18:23.13\00:18:27.10 but volunteers come together and they make a difference. 00:18:27.14\00:18:30.51 Are they volunteers from Africa? 00:18:30.54\00:18:33.44 Volunteers from the US, really. 00:18:33.48\00:18:34.94 From the US? 00:18:34.98\00:18:36.31 The US, from Australia, 00:18:36.34\00:18:38.71 who went out there and who participated. 00:18:38.75\00:18:42.18 We've had some long term volunteers 00:18:42.22\00:18:44.09 who stayed out for two years 00:18:44.12\00:18:46.02 at a time to help run the program out there. 00:18:46.05\00:18:49.36 So you went to speak 00:18:49.39\00:18:51.03 when this vision was first dropped 00:18:51.06\00:18:52.39 in your spirit, 00:18:52.43\00:18:53.76 you can say that was in 200... And 6, about. 00:18:53.80\00:18:56.53 Six, okay, 00:18:56.56\00:18:57.90 so, and then this school began 00:18:57.93\00:19:00.50 and it's been running since that time 00:19:00.54\00:19:02.30 with the volunteers. 00:19:02.34\00:19:03.67 How many children are in there? 00:19:03.71\00:19:05.44 Well, you know, 00:19:05.47\00:19:07.08 this last period we serve not only in the school 00:19:07.11\00:19:10.75 about 150 children, 00:19:10.78\00:19:12.81 because it is, you've got the preschool there 00:19:12.85\00:19:17.05 that prepares them for primary school. 00:19:17.09\00:19:19.69 Only 5% graduate from college. 00:19:19.72\00:19:23.22 You have 20% graduate from high school. 00:19:23.26\00:19:27.60 So preschool because you know, 00:19:27.63\00:19:29.56 this money issue, there's school fees issue, 00:19:29.60\00:19:31.53 there's uniform, 00:19:31.57\00:19:32.90 or is the ability to either go fetch water 00:19:32.93\00:19:35.00 and take care of the goats or go to school. 00:19:35.04\00:19:37.37 So we've made education a point of celebration. 00:19:37.41\00:19:41.28 You know, they graduated 00:19:41.31\00:19:42.64 so they're in their little graduation gowns, 00:19:42.68\00:19:44.28 make it a big deal and half the community comes. 00:19:44.31\00:19:48.08 We graduate from the joint schools, 00:19:48.12\00:19:50.42 but we also do outreach into the community. 00:19:50.45\00:19:52.55 So if you look at the population 00:19:52.59\00:19:54.46 we're serving now, it's about 150. 00:19:54.49\00:19:56.96 Some of them it's visitation into their homes and whatnot, 00:19:56.99\00:20:00.70 but that's, apart from that, 00:20:00.73\00:20:04.07 way you saw the crowds there. 00:20:04.10\00:20:06.17 We do outreach into the communities. 00:20:06.20\00:20:07.97 We've done mobile clinics, volunteer clinics, 00:20:08.00\00:20:11.14 but what we're doing now 00:20:11.17\00:20:12.51 in one particular community is amazing. 00:20:12.54\00:20:14.71 They call it the squatters camp, 00:20:14.74\00:20:16.08 the Mara camp. 00:20:16.11\00:20:17.45 And it's just, just, 00:20:17.48\00:20:20.55 just poverty at the deepest, 00:20:20.58\00:20:23.55 most grinding level. 00:20:23.59\00:20:25.05 What do you mean by squatters? 00:20:25.09\00:20:26.82 Well, they're there 00:20:26.86\00:20:28.19 because they don't have anywhere else to go. 00:20:28.22\00:20:31.16 And they've built a home there, of sorts, 00:20:31.19\00:20:35.43 but it's very vulnerable populations. 00:20:35.46\00:20:37.17 Would there be intact families as in mother, 00:20:37.20\00:20:39.13 father and children, 00:20:39.17\00:20:40.50 or are these just children without parents or...? 00:20:40.54\00:20:41.87 Some of them are children living without supervision, 00:20:41.90\00:20:44.71 and they are subject, you know, targets of predators. 00:20:44.74\00:20:48.48 Some of them, 00:20:48.51\00:20:49.84 there're different levels of dysfunction. 00:20:49.88\00:20:51.25 They do what they can, 00:20:51.28\00:20:52.78 and you learn more about them from the Andrews team, 00:20:52.81\00:20:56.08 because they've been there. 00:20:56.12\00:20:57.65 But the nice thing 00:20:57.69\00:20:59.02 is that we've just taken 40 of those children, 00:20:59.05\00:21:01.96 to school them in our school. 00:21:01.99\00:21:03.99 Yeah, we raise money for the sponsorship. 00:21:04.03\00:21:06.43 That's why it's all the, all the support, 00:21:06.46\00:21:08.40 we get the support, then we're able to do. 00:21:08.43\00:21:12.10 You know, I'm just sitting here thinking that such need, 00:21:12.13\00:21:15.67 and you could say, 00:21:15.70\00:21:17.04 well, the Lord has blessed us with this school 00:21:17.07\00:21:18.87 and we're doing these incredible things 00:21:18.91\00:21:20.91 that I think I'm doing what God's called me to do. 00:21:20.94\00:21:23.48 But instead, Cynthia, you're saying, 00:21:23.51\00:21:26.15 God wants me to do more 00:21:26.18\00:21:27.52 and you're developing a brand new project. 00:21:27.55\00:21:31.69 So tell us, in addition to the school, 00:21:31.72\00:21:34.46 tell us about this new project? 00:21:34.49\00:21:36.36 Well, one of the things 00:21:36.39\00:21:37.79 that we encountered there is you know, 00:21:37.83\00:21:40.10 there's a hunger there's the education issues 00:21:40.13\00:21:43.26 and what have you. 00:21:43.30\00:21:44.63 But the one that stuck with me is the issue of abuse, 00:21:44.67\00:21:48.87 of as, you know, children, and they needed safe housing. 00:21:48.90\00:21:53.94 We haven't had residential programs 00:21:53.98\00:21:59.18 and the reason is that you have two kinds of land 00:21:59.21\00:22:02.32 in the country Swazi nation land 00:22:02.35\00:22:04.35 and land that, you know, title deed, 00:22:04.39\00:22:06.99 the programs we have now are on land 00:22:07.02\00:22:10.06 that is owned by the king, 00:22:10.09\00:22:11.43 but dedicated to the use of the Swazi people. 00:22:11.46\00:22:14.00 Okay. 00:22:14.03\00:22:15.36 And there are some limitations in what you can do. 00:22:15.40\00:22:18.13 But we prayed for eight years to have land 00:22:18.17\00:22:22.30 that could be under the auspices 00:22:22.34\00:22:24.51 of the organization, 00:22:24.54\00:22:25.87 where you can build and you can do things. 00:22:25.91\00:22:27.24 Yes. 00:22:27.28\00:22:28.61 We prayed for 30 acres and God, 00:22:28.64\00:22:30.51 He'd been miracle working all along, 00:22:30.55\00:22:32.88 doing amazing things. 00:22:32.91\00:22:34.68 But God answered that prayer with 1000 plus, 00:22:34.72\00:22:37.95 1075 acre mountain farm 00:22:37.99\00:22:41.36 and then everything began to explode. 00:22:41.39\00:22:43.39 God can do exceedingly, 00:22:43.43\00:22:44.83 abundantly above all that we ask or think. 00:22:44.86\00:22:47.00 Amen. 00:22:47.03\00:22:48.36 So you prayed for 30 acres, and God said, 00:22:48.40\00:22:51.13 I'm gonna give you over 1000 acres. 00:22:51.17\00:22:53.57 Yes. He wanted a village. 00:22:53.60\00:22:56.40 This is historic. 00:22:56.44\00:22:57.87 I mean where on earth would you be able, 00:22:57.91\00:23:01.21 in a country where land is not, 00:23:01.24\00:23:03.04 it's not as available in the US, 00:23:03.08\00:23:04.51 you have money, you go buy land, 00:23:04.55\00:23:06.51 you know, it's owned privately, 00:23:06.55\00:23:08.52 but to find a way through chance meetings 00:23:08.55\00:23:12.25 and all kinds of miraculous ways 00:23:12.29\00:23:14.56 to come to a place where then you see it. 00:23:14.59\00:23:18.96 And you know, this is beyond our reach. 00:23:18.99\00:23:21.23 And then you pray, Lord, if it's Your will, 00:23:21.26\00:23:24.60 then it's fenced, its historic, 00:23:24.63\00:23:27.14 you don't fence that much acreage. 00:23:27.17\00:23:29.40 Everything is done, everything under checklist. 00:23:29.44\00:23:32.04 And then you said, Lord, if it's Your will, 00:23:32.07\00:23:33.98 let price be the deciding factor. 00:23:34.01\00:23:37.05 And God said, okay, 00:23:37.08\00:23:39.41 so we're just raising the last bit there 00:23:39.45\00:23:41.72 but I'm telling you, 00:23:41.75\00:23:43.08 and then He began providing, 00:23:43.12\00:23:44.99 He began providing ways 00:23:45.02\00:23:47.19 and even the people, the settlers, 00:23:47.22\00:23:49.19 there's a whole miracle story there. 00:23:49.22\00:23:51.49 But this is a real good time to bring Andrews 00:23:51.53\00:23:55.36 into the picture because you will see, 00:23:55.40\00:23:58.13 you'll be able to see that video, 00:23:58.17\00:23:59.50 what happened there. 00:23:59.53\00:24:00.87 Oh, wonderful, 00:24:00.90\00:24:02.24 we want to take a look at the video now and then... 00:24:02.27\00:24:03.61 Yes. Okay, let's do that. 00:24:03.64\00:24:04.97 Let's do it. 00:24:05.01\00:24:06.34 Wow, what a mission. 00:27:26.78\00:27:28.61 What an incredible video, 00:27:28.64\00:27:30.11 those statistics and seeing the faces 00:27:30.15\00:27:32.71 of those children, that just breaks your heart. 00:27:32.75\00:27:37.19 And yet you're going in to make a difference in the lives 00:27:37.22\00:27:40.46 of these young people. 00:27:40.49\00:27:41.82 So, Cynthia, tell us how you first connected 00:27:41.86\00:27:44.19 with Andrews and then we'll hear 00:27:44.23\00:27:46.36 from our Andrews team. 00:27:46.39\00:27:47.86 Well, one of the trustees from Andrews 00:27:47.90\00:27:50.53 who had served on SOHO's board said, 00:27:50.57\00:27:54.50 Cynthia, you need a clinic, 00:27:54.54\00:27:56.94 they've made a clinic out of a 20 foot container. 00:27:56.97\00:27:59.64 The design and they did such a wonderful job 00:27:59.67\00:28:02.18 for another country. 00:28:02.21\00:28:03.55 Would you like one? 00:28:03.58\00:28:04.91 I said, "Absolutely." 00:28:04.95\00:28:06.68 And the dean of architecture then created this clinic, 00:28:06.72\00:28:12.29 which we hope to ship over there. 00:28:12.32\00:28:14.06 Twenty foot container, 00:28:14.09\00:28:15.42 examination room and everything in there. 00:28:15.46\00:28:17.69 Really? 00:28:17.73\00:28:19.06 So when God worked this miracle 00:28:19.09\00:28:22.03 and brought this farm into our lives, 00:28:22.06\00:28:25.30 it's like, Lord, what are You doing? 00:28:25.33\00:28:28.87 We know that the need is there. 00:28:28.90\00:28:31.41 We need, we need help. 00:28:31.44\00:28:33.34 And so one of the retired dean of agriculture said, 00:28:33.38\00:28:37.65 "Why don't you reach out 00:28:37.68\00:28:39.01 to the School of Architecture?" 00:28:39.05\00:28:40.38 And the dean said, 00:28:40.42\00:28:41.75 I said, "We need help. 00:28:41.78\00:28:43.12 God is wanting to create a village." 00:28:43.15\00:28:45.22 He said, "I'll get back with you." 00:28:45.25\00:28:47.09 And the next call I got was next connection 00:28:47.12\00:28:50.76 was with Andrew Von Maur here, and it just picked up. 00:28:50.79\00:28:55.26 They'd done some research and whatnot 00:28:55.30\00:28:56.93 and just picked up impetus, 00:28:56.97\00:28:59.00 because they saw that 00:28:59.03\00:29:00.37 this is a God sized dream that... 00:29:00.40\00:29:02.14 can transform an entire country. 00:29:02.17\00:29:04.11 Amen. 00:29:04.14\00:29:05.47 So, Andrew, what was your first impression 00:29:05.51\00:29:06.84 when you found out about the project, 00:29:06.88\00:29:08.88 and what was going on there in Swaziland or Eswatini, 00:29:08.91\00:29:15.88 Eswatini okay. 00:29:15.92\00:29:17.25 Yes. 00:29:17.29\00:29:18.62 Well, 00:29:18.65\00:29:20.46 I had actually been, 00:29:20.49\00:29:21.82 we do a project every year for a community 00:29:21.86\00:29:25.16 or ministry around the world with our graduate students 00:29:25.19\00:29:28.66 our 50 architecture students. 00:29:28.70\00:29:30.60 And I had actually been praying for a project in Africa, 00:29:30.63\00:29:34.24 because we happen to have a few Africans in the class. 00:29:34.27\00:29:38.44 Yes. 00:29:38.47\00:29:39.81 And, sometimes it just really helps 00:29:39.84\00:29:42.54 when you have people who can relate more easily 00:29:42.58\00:29:46.28 with the local population and the local people. 00:29:46.31\00:29:48.58 And I think the class in general 00:29:48.62\00:29:50.99 was enthusiastic about. 00:29:51.02\00:29:52.35 We had done some studies about African architecture 00:29:52.39\00:29:55.02 in the previous year, 00:29:55.06\00:29:56.39 and there was a lot of desire to go and make a difference 00:29:56.42\00:29:59.09 and do something, 00:29:59.13\00:30:00.53 and we had been looking at different projects 00:30:00.56\00:30:02.56 around the continent. 00:30:02.60\00:30:03.93 And suddenly we get this connection 00:30:03.97\00:30:06.43 out of the blue. 00:30:06.47\00:30:07.80 God's timing. 00:30:07.84\00:30:09.17 God's answer to our prayers. 00:30:09.20\00:30:11.74 And we felt immediately that this was the perfect kind 00:30:11.77\00:30:15.78 of project for us to be involved in, 00:30:15.81\00:30:18.15 good for our students to be involved in, 00:30:18.18\00:30:20.92 but also of service to the ministry 00:30:20.95\00:30:23.65 that SOHO is pursuing. 00:30:23.69\00:30:26.22 We had previously worked in southern Africa as a team 00:30:26.25\00:30:29.86 and so we felt somewhat comfortable 00:30:29.89\00:30:32.49 going even this far. 00:30:32.53\00:30:35.76 And, you know, what, 00:30:35.80\00:30:37.13 Cynthia was really asking for is help in building 00:30:37.17\00:30:40.17 the vision for how do you actually 00:30:40.20\00:30:42.34 make a place like this? 00:30:42.37\00:30:43.97 Yes. 00:30:44.01\00:30:45.34 And, you know, 00:30:45.37\00:30:46.71 in our discipline and architecture, 00:30:46.74\00:30:49.34 you know, every house and every church 00:30:49.38\00:30:52.71 and every building is a kind of testimony 00:30:52.75\00:30:55.78 to a way of living. 00:30:55.82\00:30:57.25 Okay. 00:30:57.29\00:30:59.09 It tells you a little bit about what people value 00:30:59.12\00:31:01.19 and what would, well, how people live. 00:31:01.22\00:31:04.89 And so building a whole village and designing a village 00:31:04.93\00:31:08.06 is a way of understanding how to live. 00:31:08.10\00:31:11.07 And so you have all of these young children 00:31:11.10\00:31:14.70 that are currently vulnerable and orphans, and dealing with, 00:31:14.74\00:31:19.44 you know, the worst possible scenarios in their lives 00:31:19.47\00:31:22.41 that you can imagine, that need a home. 00:31:22.44\00:31:25.81 And not only are they God's children, 00:31:25.85\00:31:28.75 but also you know, 00:31:28.78\00:31:30.12 SOHO is interested in building a home 00:31:30.15\00:31:33.36 not just physically but also the relationships 00:31:33.39\00:31:35.66 of people that support these children. 00:31:35.69\00:31:38.49 And so, in the work and the education 00:31:38.53\00:31:40.96 that they would be pursuing, 00:31:41.00\00:31:43.60 the whole mind, body and spirit education. 00:31:43.63\00:31:47.67 And so, she needed help in putting together a vision 00:31:47.70\00:31:51.31 for what that would look like and, 00:31:51.34\00:31:53.48 and we had the opportunity to help 00:31:53.51\00:31:56.24 and so we took it and... 00:31:56.28\00:31:57.98 So when you create a vision, 00:31:58.01\00:31:59.51 that means you have to go on location and see, right? 00:31:59.55\00:32:03.49 So would that be one of the first steps, 00:32:03.52\00:32:05.69 that you would travel there and what was your experience, 00:32:05.72\00:32:09.76 like when you were there and saw the people? 00:32:09.79\00:32:12.73 So, my colleague and I, Christopher Perry, 00:32:12.76\00:32:16.03 we went down first to just kind of understand the situation 00:32:16.06\00:32:20.54 and met also with SOHO outreach coordinator, 00:32:20.57\00:32:24.31 Pastor Melvin Moyo, 00:32:24.34\00:32:25.67 who's on the ground there 00:32:25.71\00:32:27.04 and some of the other partners for organization and... 00:32:27.08\00:32:31.58 You know, when you go to especially the squatter camp 00:32:31.61\00:32:34.42 that was mentioned earlier, it's called Mara camp in - 00:32:34.45\00:32:38.02 in center of Swaziland. 00:32:38.05\00:32:41.42 You know, it's an old railroad property 00:32:41.46\00:32:43.93 and people sort of informally built up a community. 00:32:43.96\00:32:47.36 And you know, when you're there and you, 00:32:47.40\00:32:50.87 and you see and you get to know, 00:32:50.90\00:32:52.60 and you get to work with and live 00:32:52.63\00:32:56.04 within a sense briefly with, with these children, 00:32:56.07\00:33:01.81 and you realize the profound need 00:33:01.84\00:33:06.41 that really exists. 00:33:06.45\00:33:08.95 But also the beauty of the lives that are there, 00:33:08.98\00:33:12.95 and the value of all of these individual children. 00:33:12.99\00:33:18.29 You know, it touches you more deeply 00:33:18.33\00:33:19.79 even though of course, 00:33:19.83\00:33:21.16 intellectually you already understand there's a need. 00:33:21.20\00:33:23.87 There's a sort of an emotional and a sort of greater passion 00:33:23.90\00:33:27.14 that sort of builds up then and a conviction that you know, 00:33:27.17\00:33:31.21 you want to be part of a solution 00:33:31.24\00:33:32.57 and help touch these lives and do the best you can 00:33:32.61\00:33:36.81 that God has given you resources to do with, so. 00:33:36.85\00:33:41.28 It's beautiful. 00:33:41.32\00:33:42.65 What about Gwen, and... 00:33:42.68\00:33:44.02 Yeah, how did you get the students involved? 00:33:44.05\00:33:45.39 How? 00:33:45.42\00:33:46.76 How was your experience when you went? 00:33:46.79\00:33:49.16 What did that do for you inside 00:33:49.19\00:33:51.19 and then what's your involvement 00:33:51.23\00:33:52.56 with the project? 00:33:52.59\00:33:55.16 Well, personally, 00:33:55.20\00:33:57.20 someone who is actually from a place like that. 00:33:57.23\00:34:01.30 Right. 00:34:01.34\00:34:03.04 It personally felt like I was going back home 00:34:03.07\00:34:05.77 to change something. 00:34:05.81\00:34:07.98 So it was to a deeper level an experience 00:34:08.01\00:34:14.02 that I'll never forget. 00:34:14.05\00:34:16.58 And I felt like it was kind of God's telling me, yeah, 00:34:16.62\00:34:20.89 by the way, you can do something 00:34:20.92\00:34:23.36 where you came from. 00:34:23.39\00:34:24.73 Yes. 00:34:24.76\00:34:26.09 So, when we heard the news that we're going to Swaziland, 00:34:26.13\00:34:31.00 in a million years, I would not have ever thought 00:34:31.03\00:34:33.80 that I'll go to Swaziland, in all the countries in Africa, 00:34:33.84\00:34:37.54 Swaziland was probably not even in the list of countries 00:34:37.57\00:34:40.94 that I was thinking of ever going to. 00:34:40.98\00:34:44.18 But when I, when we researched about it, 00:34:44.21\00:34:47.55 everything that I read was, 00:34:47.58\00:34:49.88 it was kind of echoing what happened. 00:34:49.92\00:34:52.72 What is happening in Burundi, in terms of like the poverty, 00:34:52.75\00:34:56.79 the offense, everything that is happening there. 00:34:56.83\00:35:02.66 So, it literally felt like I'm learning about my country, 00:35:02.70\00:35:07.20 but in another world. 00:35:07.24\00:35:08.60 Oh, wow. 00:35:08.64\00:35:09.97 It's deep. 00:35:10.01\00:35:11.34 And as an architect, of course, and it was, 00:35:11.37\00:35:15.51 it's my fifth year so it was a year 00:35:15.54\00:35:18.38 where you ask God, 00:35:18.41\00:35:21.25 "Where do You really want me to be? 00:35:21.28\00:35:24.22 What do You want what?" 00:35:24.25\00:35:26.25 Everything I was actually thinking about 00:35:26.29\00:35:29.12 stewardship a lot that in that period 00:35:29.16\00:35:32.76 because I was thinking, 00:35:32.79\00:35:34.13 I'm going to graduate, I have skills, 00:35:34.16\00:35:35.83 I have expertise, you know. 00:35:35.86\00:35:39.03 So what should I... 00:35:39.07\00:35:40.40 What do I have to do with it? 00:35:40.44\00:35:42.17 And because you think you want to do it 00:35:42.20\00:35:44.54 for the glory of God. 00:35:44.57\00:35:46.27 I believe that, that was a door that was open 00:35:46.31\00:35:50.91 for me to realize, 00:35:50.95\00:35:52.65 yes, I give you this and this is how you can do it, 00:35:52.68\00:35:55.98 by becoming the feet of Jesus in a place. 00:35:56.02\00:36:00.82 So when we went there, it was literally amazing. 00:36:00.86\00:36:07.20 Youth, I would see kids and I felt like 00:36:07.23\00:36:10.87 I looked like them and this could have been me... 00:36:10.90\00:36:14.37 Right. 00:36:14.40\00:36:15.74 This could have been me literally. 00:36:15.77\00:36:17.94 So it was such an experience of saying, 00:36:17.97\00:36:23.04 I can make a difference with what I studied, 00:36:23.08\00:36:27.28 with who I am, 00:36:27.32\00:36:28.65 with the experience that I have. 00:36:28.68\00:36:30.62 Yeah, was it emotional for you? 00:36:30.65\00:36:32.75 It was very emotional actually going there. 00:36:32.79\00:36:35.76 I was praying the whole way, 00:36:35.79\00:36:37.83 like on the plane because you know, 00:36:37.86\00:36:40.03 it's a long, it's a long flight. 00:36:40.06\00:36:42.20 I was, I literally felt like I was going back home 00:36:42.23\00:36:45.50 because like even the itinerary is going back home. 00:36:45.53\00:36:50.14 So, it was very emotional. 00:36:50.17\00:36:52.27 I actually cried on the way there 00:36:52.31\00:36:54.71 because I felt inadequate, 00:36:54.74\00:36:56.08 like when you see a huge need for children 00:36:56.11\00:37:00.85 and when you deal with children, 00:37:00.88\00:37:03.32 you're not only dealing with the present, 00:37:03.35\00:37:05.55 you're also dealing with the future. 00:37:05.59\00:37:06.92 Yes, that's right. 00:37:06.96\00:37:08.29 So it was emotional because I felt like I'm, 00:37:08.32\00:37:11.93 I don't have what it takes. 00:37:11.96\00:37:13.80 But I realized that it's through God 00:37:13.83\00:37:16.87 that anything is possible. 00:37:16.90\00:37:18.73 That's right. Wow. 00:37:18.77\00:37:20.30 What about you, Stephanie? Yeah. 00:37:20.34\00:37:22.37 Well, along the same lines of what Gwen was saying, 00:37:22.40\00:37:25.01 it was when we first heard that we were going 00:37:25.04\00:37:27.38 to be working with children. 00:37:27.41\00:37:30.68 It was already transformational 00:37:30.71\00:37:32.88 because I have always worked with children. 00:37:32.91\00:37:36.62 I've been working with children's for 10 years, 00:37:36.65\00:37:39.12 in all sorts of ways. 00:37:39.15\00:37:42.82 And just to see the opportunity 00:37:42.86\00:37:48.53 in every little phase, 00:37:48.56\00:37:50.33 and to know that it is by chance, 00:37:50.37\00:37:53.57 that there by chance that I'm there, 00:37:53.60\00:37:55.50 but it's not by chance, I should say, 00:37:55.54\00:37:57.41 it is by God's grace that we are where we are, 00:37:57.44\00:38:00.21 and it was just incredible 00:38:00.24\00:38:06.45 to know that God has been working 00:38:06.48\00:38:09.18 for so long in so many ways. 00:38:09.22\00:38:11.95 That, 2006 when Cynthia started, 00:38:11.99\00:38:17.06 I was in high school. 00:38:17.09\00:38:20.10 He was preparing me already to come to this place. 00:38:20.13\00:38:23.73 He was preparing my classmates. 00:38:23.77\00:38:25.47 He was preparing the land. 00:38:25.50\00:38:26.87 Yeah. 00:38:26.90\00:38:28.24 And it just, as a person 00:38:28.27\00:38:30.47 that's emerging into a profession, 00:38:30.51\00:38:32.94 I can see that God is already working, 00:38:32.97\00:38:35.41 and He's already preparing the things 00:38:35.44\00:38:37.48 that we are going to do. 00:38:37.51\00:38:39.15 And I have so much hope and so much faith 00:38:39.18\00:38:41.75 for these children that we met, 00:38:41.78\00:38:44.35 that this is going to be an incredible opportunity 00:38:44.39\00:38:47.29 for them and this is going to be a home 00:38:47.32\00:38:50.06 and I cannot wait. 00:38:50.09\00:38:52.56 Amen. 00:38:52.59\00:38:53.93 Praise the Lord. 00:38:53.96\00:38:55.30 Once the students, 00:38:55.33\00:38:56.67 so when we had gone for a preliminary visit, 00:38:56.70\00:38:58.43 we brought back a lot of photos. 00:38:58.47\00:39:00.20 And we had put them up in our studio to help 00:39:00.24\00:39:02.74 explain to our students before we went down as a team. 00:39:02.77\00:39:06.34 Here's kind of the situation. 00:39:06.37\00:39:08.44 And, you know, we showed them I think a video or two as well. 00:39:08.48\00:39:12.51 And the students were so touched 00:39:12.55\00:39:14.08 by even just the nature of the project, 00:39:14.12\00:39:16.52 and the mission, that they, 00:39:16.55\00:39:18.65 on their own initiative started a fundraising campaign... 00:39:18.69\00:39:21.72 Oh, how nice. 00:39:21.76\00:39:23.09 To get certain supplies that are needed. 00:39:23.12\00:39:27.63 So, you know, we had found out that shoes were needed. 00:39:27.66\00:39:30.87 Yep. 00:39:30.90\00:39:32.23 Because, especially with the rainy season 00:39:32.27\00:39:33.87 starting soon, raincoats were needed. 00:39:33.90\00:39:37.84 Once the students put together a GoFundMe campaign online, 00:39:37.87\00:39:43.01 and reached out to different people 00:39:43.04\00:39:45.81 in social media and churches, 00:39:45.85\00:39:48.08 and were able to raise a lot of money 00:39:48.12\00:39:52.15 that enabled us to buy supplies locally. 00:39:52.19\00:39:54.72 Yeah. 00:39:54.76\00:39:56.09 That we could then put to use and spending the money 00:39:56.12\00:39:58.96 locally is I think, is also a good thing 00:39:58.99\00:40:00.66 because then the local merchants 00:40:00.70\00:40:02.03 are benefiting from that. 00:40:02.06\00:40:04.33 And so we were able to get a lot of things. 00:40:04.37\00:40:08.74 And while we were there, I don't know, 00:40:08.77\00:40:10.74 what are some of the other things you notice 00:40:10.77\00:40:12.11 while we're there and you ended up getting? 00:40:12.14\00:40:13.81 It was incredible because we went, 00:40:13.84\00:40:15.54 we raised the money with the idea 00:40:15.58\00:40:16.91 that we were going to buy 00:40:16.95\00:40:18.28 rubber shoes for the children, 00:40:18.31\00:40:19.65 because the rainy season's coming 00:40:19.68\00:40:21.02 and it's just easy for them. 00:40:21.05\00:40:22.38 But while we were there, 00:40:22.42\00:40:23.75 we realized that we had not just enough money 00:40:23.79\00:40:25.52 to get the shoes for these children. 00:40:25.55\00:40:27.66 We had enough for raincoats. 00:40:27.69\00:40:29.56 And then while we were there, 00:40:29.59\00:40:30.93 we noticed that some of the little girls 00:40:30.96\00:40:32.66 and boys didn't have any undergarments. 00:40:32.69\00:40:35.03 So even, even there God had already provided, 00:40:35.06\00:40:38.47 we had the money. 00:40:38.50\00:40:39.83 We went to the store, we chose as many as we could 00:40:39.87\00:40:42.37 and we brought them to them. 00:40:42.40\00:40:44.41 And Gwen also had the opportunity 00:40:44.44\00:40:46.27 to reach out and collect some toys for them. 00:40:46.31\00:40:50.88 Did their eyes light up? 00:40:50.91\00:40:52.51 I'd love to see that, the joy. 00:40:52.55\00:40:54.15 Also candy because you know children, 00:40:54.18\00:40:56.18 when you bring them candy, you bring them Christmas early. 00:40:56.22\00:41:01.16 But another aspect that I really, 00:41:01.19\00:41:04.23 it touched me was we brought to them 00:41:04.26\00:41:08.93 lead to Christ, Steps to Christ. 00:41:08.96\00:41:12.37 Steps to Christ books. 00:41:12.40\00:41:14.27 And I remember my, like how I got to know 00:41:14.30\00:41:18.34 Christ was like that, 00:41:18.37\00:41:19.71 was through a book that somebody 00:41:19.74\00:41:22.31 randomly brought to me. 00:41:22.34\00:41:23.85 And when we took them there, when we took them there, 00:41:23.88\00:41:27.65 and we gave them, we had like 100 books 00:41:27.68\00:41:31.15 that we distributed to children. 00:41:31.19\00:41:33.76 And it just reminded me that maybe that's gonna 00:41:33.79\00:41:37.79 be someone like me in the next few years to come. 00:41:37.83\00:41:41.86 So it's like, there is so much hope 00:41:41.90\00:41:43.80 for these children, 00:41:43.83\00:41:45.17 that only God could have ordained all that like, 00:41:45.20\00:41:50.67 all of that, for us to be there at that specific moment. 00:41:50.71\00:41:55.74 And, yeah, it was really amazing. 00:41:55.78\00:41:58.01 It's so exciting. 00:41:58.05\00:41:59.41 Divine Providence, you see God's hand 00:41:59.45\00:42:01.85 in bringing SOHO and Andrews together. 00:42:01.88\00:42:04.02 I know our time is going, 00:42:04.05\00:42:05.45 so let's get to what God is doing 00:42:05.49\00:42:08.49 with this mountain farm. 00:42:08.52\00:42:10.13 Talk to us about the plans, the design, 00:42:10.16\00:42:12.76 I think we have some pictures, so. 00:42:12.79\00:42:14.16 Yes, they have some pictures but I think 00:42:14.20\00:42:16.36 what is critical here is, A, 00:42:16.40\00:42:18.77 it will provide opportunity for housing, 00:42:18.80\00:42:21.17 safe housing, but it is not just housing, 00:42:21.20\00:42:23.77 it's a whole holistic program, it's the housing, 00:42:23.81\00:42:27.01 it's the schooling, it's the church. 00:42:27.04\00:42:29.41 And then in addition to that, 00:42:29.44\00:42:32.01 we're establishing social enterprise, 00:42:32.05\00:42:37.09 a chalets, a lodge where you can have meetings, 00:42:37.12\00:42:40.82 where you can do training, 00:42:40.86\00:42:42.39 where you can do a lot 00:42:42.42\00:42:43.76 and that will produce revenue for the farm. 00:42:43.79\00:42:47.86 Self-sustaining. 00:42:47.90\00:42:49.30 Right, it is self-sustaining. 00:42:49.33\00:42:50.90 And the important thing 00:42:50.93\00:42:52.27 is God has put His signature on it. 00:42:52.30\00:42:54.20 The farm was listed for a 400,000 US, 00:42:54.24\00:42:59.31 and we're close to getting there, 00:42:59.34\00:43:02.04 to taking that farm over. 00:43:02.08\00:43:03.95 Yes. 00:43:03.98\00:43:05.31 We have to put a clinic there, we have to put a lot of things. 00:43:05.35\00:43:09.35 And so just being able to see the impact introduce health, 00:43:09.38\00:43:14.02 healthy living there, and what they have designed, 00:43:14.06\00:43:16.99 they have put the pieces in place 00:43:17.03\00:43:18.83 so that we're able to look at what actually can be there. 00:43:18.86\00:43:23.77 We found out by the way that the sellers of the farm, 00:43:23.80\00:43:29.27 they had been reading the Bible. 00:43:29.30\00:43:32.31 When they felt led there, 00:43:32.34\00:43:34.21 they put their wealth into building, 00:43:34.24\00:43:35.68 fencing the farm. 00:43:35.71\00:43:38.21 They, when we met them, and we thought, 00:43:38.25\00:43:40.98 they might be biased about having orphan children there. 00:43:41.02\00:43:44.95 We found out that they were Sabbath keepers 00:43:44.99\00:43:47.42 and they didn't even know anything about us. 00:43:47.46\00:43:50.13 So God had His stamp all along the way. 00:43:50.16\00:43:55.10 That's beautiful. Now, what's this here? 00:43:55.13\00:43:57.57 This is the property itself. 00:43:57.60\00:44:00.14 So it's 1075 acres. 00:44:00.17\00:44:02.20 It's beautiful. 00:44:02.24\00:44:03.57 It's a beau... 00:44:03.61\00:44:04.94 I mean, we went around most of Eswatini, 00:44:04.97\00:44:07.14 and this was by far the most stunning piece 00:44:07.18\00:44:09.31 of property that we saw. 00:44:09.34\00:44:10.68 It's in the mountains? 00:44:10.71\00:44:12.05 Is it cool up there? It is a mountain. 00:44:12.08\00:44:13.42 Okay. Is it a little cooler weather? 00:44:13.45\00:44:15.28 It's, it's, it doesn't freeze. 00:44:15.32\00:44:17.45 So it's perfect for agriculture because it's all year round, 00:44:17.49\00:44:22.39 you know, growing season. 00:44:22.42\00:44:23.93 And it's a, it's blessed with 15 natural springs. 00:44:23.96\00:44:29.00 So there's plenty of water all year round, 00:44:29.03\00:44:30.40 even during the dry season. 00:44:30.43\00:44:31.77 Such a blessing, you don't have to dig a well. 00:44:31.80\00:44:33.87 Yeah. And what's this? 00:44:33.90\00:44:35.50 So, when you, when you arrive at the property, 00:44:35.54\00:44:37.41 this is the sign that's up there, 00:44:37.44\00:44:38.77 Deuteronomy 28:6, 00:44:38.81\00:44:40.14 "Blessed are those who come in and blessed 00:44:40.18\00:44:41.68 are those who go out." 00:44:41.71\00:44:43.45 And it's in Afrikaans, 00:44:43.48\00:44:45.41 the language 00:44:45.45\00:44:47.88 there in South Africa and so on, 00:44:47.92\00:44:49.62 and this is what the property ownership 00:44:49.65\00:44:51.79 put up at the entrance there's - 00:44:51.82\00:44:56.02 they're the sellers of the property. 00:44:56.06\00:44:58.49 And the Sabbath keepers. 00:44:58.53\00:44:59.86 Yes. Yes, okay. 00:44:59.89\00:45:01.23 And sort of a Nehemiah type character because, you know, 00:45:01.26\00:45:05.60 he fenced the property. 00:45:05.63\00:45:07.40 But in the process of fencing this beautiful land 00:45:07.44\00:45:10.21 that you see here, 00:45:10.24\00:45:11.57 he also built relationships with his neighbors 00:45:11.61\00:45:14.44 because he engaged his neighbors 00:45:14.48\00:45:16.21 who had first were skeptical, 00:45:16.24\00:45:18.01 but of course moving there and he prepared a sanctuary 00:45:18.05\00:45:22.05 for him and his family, he raised. 00:45:22.08\00:45:24.09 They raised six children there, in a Bible centered way. 00:45:24.12\00:45:30.96 This is us, in the Mara camp, in the informal settlement, 00:45:30.99\00:45:34.83 working with the children and getting to know them. 00:45:34.86\00:45:37.43 We had a Sabbath service all day long 00:45:37.47\00:45:39.53 in the town square, 00:45:39.57\00:45:41.34 in this community that we were able to use 00:45:41.37\00:45:44.51 in order to spread hope. 00:45:44.54\00:45:48.31 This is us at a local high school 00:45:48.34\00:45:50.58 Ekukhanyeni High School, 00:45:50.61\00:45:52.51 working with young people, 00:45:52.55\00:45:53.88 we showed them our designs 00:45:53.92\00:45:55.45 in order to engage young people 00:45:55.48\00:45:57.89 in the process of what we're doing. 00:45:57.92\00:46:00.59 And here's the initial site plan. 00:46:00.62\00:46:03.76 This is your design concept? 00:46:03.79\00:46:05.13 Yeah. The students put this together. 00:46:05.16\00:46:07.00 Okay. 00:46:07.03\00:46:08.36 And it's for our children's village. 00:46:08.40\00:46:09.83 So talk to us about what we're seeing here? 00:46:09.86\00:46:11.67 Well, at the very center of it, 00:46:11.70\00:46:14.20 you can see this is a semi-circular space. 00:46:14.24\00:46:16.37 Yeah. 00:46:16.40\00:46:17.74 Which is an amphitheater looking out 00:46:17.77\00:46:19.41 over the mountains and church, 00:46:19.44\00:46:22.64 and you can see the church here in this view. 00:46:22.68\00:46:25.35 It's a building at the center of the community. 00:46:25.38\00:46:29.75 And it's, the whole design is inspired 00:46:29.78\00:46:32.55 by traditional Swazi homesteads 00:46:32.59\00:46:35.72 that were very community oriented. 00:46:35.76\00:46:38.83 We had an interest in really enabling 00:46:38.86\00:46:41.26 those young children to not just grow closer 00:46:41.30\00:46:45.47 to the Lord and to be educated and receive the health care 00:46:45.50\00:46:48.50 that they need, 00:46:48.54\00:46:50.07 but also to become functional Swazi's 00:46:50.11\00:46:53.51 that can remain in the country as people 00:46:53.54\00:46:58.61 who have an identity as Swazis, 00:46:58.65\00:47:00.28 and who can function in society in that way. 00:47:00.32\00:47:02.95 That's way the buildings would have that architectural design. 00:47:02.98\00:47:04.92 Yeah, they had. 00:47:04.95\00:47:06.29 That's part of why they're like that. 00:47:06.32\00:47:07.66 That makes sense. 00:47:07.69\00:47:09.02 Part of it is the climate. 00:47:09.06\00:47:10.56 We just saw a picture 00:47:10.59\00:47:11.93 of where the children would actually live. 00:47:11.96\00:47:15.30 And so, you know, the views are stunning 00:47:15.33\00:47:17.67 and so thinking about the relationship 00:47:17.70\00:47:20.07 between how you live on this property 00:47:20.10\00:47:22.27 and how you live in nature. 00:47:22.30\00:47:24.71 There's an agricultural component 00:47:24.74\00:47:26.27 that's very significant. 00:47:26.31\00:47:29.61 There's a financial sustainability plan 00:47:29.64\00:47:31.41 in place that has to do with a lodge actually. 00:47:31.45\00:47:35.68 And so we had a hospitality consultant with us, 00:47:35.72\00:47:41.39 who worked with us to identify opportunities 00:47:41.42\00:47:44.53 for how a lodge could be developed 00:47:44.56\00:47:46.26 on the property, 00:47:46.29\00:47:47.63 so that there could be long term 00:47:47.66\00:47:49.13 financial sustainability for the children's village. 00:47:49.16\00:47:52.67 When you say lodge, you mean like, 00:47:52.70\00:47:54.54 what we'd call a bed and breakfast, or no? 00:47:54.57\00:47:56.77 What do you mean by lodge? 00:47:56.81\00:47:58.84 Basically like a resort. 00:47:58.87\00:48:00.41 Got it. Okay. 00:48:00.44\00:48:01.78 And that last picture that you saw there, 00:48:01.81\00:48:04.51 showed you the lodge, 00:48:04.55\00:48:06.51 with some of the guests chalets, 00:48:06.55\00:48:08.65 looking out over the countryside, 00:48:08.68\00:48:10.05 there's an opportunity for game, 00:48:10.09\00:48:11.89 wildlife, and all kinds of outdoor activities 00:48:11.92\00:48:14.92 that hospitality consultant was very excited about. 00:48:14.96\00:48:18.19 But we see a... 00:48:18.23\00:48:19.56 We see an opportunity for the lodge 00:48:19.59\00:48:21.53 and the children's village to actually 00:48:21.56\00:48:23.40 be a combined community 00:48:23.43\00:48:28.04 where the branding of the lodge is actually partly involved 00:48:28.07\00:48:32.77 in the children's village and as its mission 00:48:32.81\00:48:34.74 so people who go there don't just go there 00:48:34.78\00:48:37.28 to spend time in nature, 00:48:37.31\00:48:38.65 but they actually go there to be part of an authentic 00:48:38.68\00:48:40.42 Swazi community and part of a mission 00:48:40.45\00:48:42.75 to uplift these young children, 00:48:42.78\00:48:44.12 so. 00:48:44.15\00:48:45.49 Amen. It's beautiful. 00:48:45.52\00:48:46.86 Yeah, what I was going to say is that skills prevent 00:48:46.89\00:48:52.59 them from being taken advantage of, 00:48:52.63\00:48:54.90 so the skill building is part of the whole 00:48:54.93\00:48:57.20 educational process as well. 00:48:57.23\00:49:00.10 The lodge is such a heavenly site. 00:49:00.14\00:49:02.47 So it's a place where people will come 00:49:02.50\00:49:05.01 and be able to find healing. 00:49:05.04\00:49:06.47 Lifestyle, vegetarianism almost doesn't exist 00:49:06.51\00:49:10.28 because even in the best hotels you cannot find. 00:49:10.31\00:49:13.18 So this is going to be a campus where the children 00:49:13.21\00:49:15.92 will have them tested, to be fed a vegetarian diet, 00:49:15.95\00:49:19.09 where people can learn about healthy lifestyle, 00:49:19.12\00:49:21.92 where change can happen in different ways 00:49:21.96\00:49:24.26 while at the same time crafts and what have you, 00:49:24.29\00:49:26.86 but the lifestyle change will take place. 00:49:26.90\00:49:29.46 So even with the income generating, 00:49:29.50\00:49:32.17 when people come, 00:49:32.20\00:49:33.57 they will be able to discover a lot about God 00:49:33.60\00:49:36.74 and a lot about this plan right there. 00:49:36.77\00:49:38.67 Amen. Thank you. 00:53:26.94\00:53:28.30 Gwen, what about you? 00:53:28.34\00:53:29.80 Yeah, so when I always remember 00:53:29.84\00:53:33.64 the whole project as a whole. 00:53:33.68\00:53:35.44 I remember when we're there and we talked to the - 00:53:35.48\00:53:39.28 we asked them, 00:53:39.31\00:53:40.68 if you'd come back 00:53:40.72\00:53:42.52 in a couple years after this happened, 00:53:42.55\00:53:45.42 like the project is happened. 00:53:45.45\00:53:48.29 What would be your, for your, 00:53:48.32\00:53:51.89 what you don't want to not see. 00:53:51.93\00:53:54.30 And what they say to us 00:53:54.33\00:53:56.06 that they don't want it to go back 00:53:56.10\00:53:58.20 to where the property was, 00:53:58.23\00:54:01.47 because it was like a marijuana property, 00:54:01.50\00:54:04.34 and then they changed it. 00:54:04.37\00:54:05.71 So basically what they were saying is, 00:54:05.74\00:54:07.34 we cultivated the land to be a beacon of light. 00:54:07.38\00:54:10.75 So we want to see that even become more and bigger 00:54:10.78\00:54:14.52 to not only the Grand Valley farm, 00:54:14.55\00:54:17.49 but also to the whole Eswatini. 00:54:17.52\00:54:20.12 So, I believe that we were used by God to start, 00:54:20.16\00:54:25.43 and I believe that through those children, 00:54:25.46\00:54:29.16 Eswatini certainly has a future Amen. 00:54:29.20\00:54:31.70 Andrew. 00:54:31.73\00:54:33.84 The name of the property is Intsaba, 00:54:33.87\00:54:36.47 which in Swazi is Mountain Farm. 00:54:36.50\00:54:38.87 And Eswatini is a mountain kingdom. 00:54:38.91\00:54:41.48 And the Bible tells us 00:54:41.51\00:54:43.31 that with just a little bit of faith, 00:54:43.35\00:54:45.45 you can move mountains. 00:54:45.48\00:54:47.78 And so, when you think about what that means, 00:54:47.82\00:54:50.22 and you look at a project like this, 00:54:50.25\00:54:51.59 which is quite large. 00:54:51.62\00:54:54.49 We see God working already in the sellers. 00:54:54.52\00:54:57.53 We see the God working in the children. 00:54:57.56\00:54:59.79 We see God working in the ministries 00:54:59.83\00:55:01.20 that we've been a part of. 00:55:01.23\00:55:02.80 And we know that the testimony 00:55:02.83\00:55:05.60 of the elders are a testimony 00:55:05.63\00:55:07.70 to how faith can move mountains. 00:55:07.74\00:55:09.64 And so we've seen kingdoms move before. 00:55:09.67\00:55:11.44 And we have a lot of faith 00:55:11.47\00:55:12.81 that this project can help move mountains in Eswatini, so. 00:55:12.84\00:55:15.94 Amen. 00:55:15.98\00:55:17.51 Cynthia. 00:55:17.55\00:55:18.88 Well, to say the least, I'm excited. 00:55:18.91\00:55:21.08 I'm excited to see what God can do. 00:55:21.12\00:55:24.22 Way before this property was purchased, 00:55:24.25\00:55:27.29 God had sent someone to send a block making machine 00:55:27.32\00:55:30.26 to build houses out of earth, 00:55:30.29\00:55:34.00 He prepared the place. 00:55:34.03\00:55:35.76 I believe that in these closing days, 00:55:35.80\00:55:38.00 God is giving opportunities to His children. 00:55:38.03\00:55:41.00 He is giving us opportunities 00:55:41.04\00:55:43.24 that He'll pass on to someone as if we don't respond. 00:55:43.27\00:55:46.51 And this is a golden opportunity 00:55:46.54\00:55:49.24 to step in not only to trust Him, 00:55:49.28\00:55:53.11 but to be a part of doing something significant 00:55:53.15\00:55:56.02 that is going to bring many to a knowledge of Christ. 00:55:56.05\00:56:00.96 To save this generation of youth, 00:56:00.99\00:56:04.26 it is not just sermons. 00:56:04.29\00:56:06.09 It is productive activity 00:56:06.13\00:56:07.83 that sees them change the world. 00:56:07.86\00:56:10.23 This is a golden opportunity 00:56:10.27\00:56:11.83 and we're inviting 00:56:11.87\00:56:13.40 all those who are touched, pray. 00:56:13.44\00:56:16.14 Think of how you can generously participate, build a school, 00:56:16.17\00:56:20.31 build a house, build a room, come to a clinic. 00:56:20.34\00:56:25.48 It is part of the vision prayerfully as you look, 00:56:25.51\00:56:29.75 you can help to put Intsaba on the map, 00:56:29.78\00:56:32.99 not only for Swaziland, 00:56:33.02\00:56:34.69 not only for Eswatini, but for the world. 00:56:34.72\00:56:38.93 Because God wants to do great things there. 00:56:38.96\00:56:42.13 We invite you to help us. 00:56:42.16\00:56:44.27 Amen. 00:56:44.30\00:56:45.63 Amen, well said, little is much when God is in it, isn't it?
