in Eldorado, a small farm,

taught growing up myself

and serving your community

statement that my mother told us

her and my father did,

and something that had
always weighed heavy on my mind

was through a childhood memory

that I had growing up
on that farm in Eldorado,

was about how a couple,

a little brother and
sister were treated at school.

I always remember the bus,

getting off
somewhat of the beaten path

and going down this gravel
road and stopping at this house

and a little
brother, little sister

come running out of the house

and wearing
somewhat tattered clothing

and they were just,
they were poor people,

but they always had
an incredible attitude.

They always had a
smile on their face.

And I actually became
really good friends with them.

Because I was on the
school bus with them a lot.

And we were in the same class.

But I always remembered

how they were treated in school,

weren't always clean.

I remember this day, the
visual and I'm going back

when I was probably
seven or eight years old,

And the boy that was sitting
beside one of the sisters,

as they're
taking the group picture

was leaning over like this

because he didn't
want to be close to her.

And that memory had always
been embedded in me all my life.

And I always
wondered how they did in life.

So approximately 18 years ago

the good Lord woke me up
one middle of night and said,

Dale said, I want you to
supply underprivileged children

with new shoes
and clothes for school

otherwise wouldn't
have the opportunity.

So, did a lot of contemplating

and thinking about
how I would do this.

So I put a little
junior golf event together

for underprivileged
children actually,

that never have an opportunity.

My children played a
little bit of junior golf

and I went to the
golf course at Harrisburg

and they rolled
out the red carpet

and all I wanted to do,

the whole vision was
to be able to go back

to the elementary school
where my memory had occurred,

and be able to go in
there and talk to the teachers

and say, I would
love to be able to supply

four or five
children each and every year

with a brand new wardrobe

that otherwise wouldn't
have the opportunity to have.

And when I say a wardrobe,

underwear, you know, shoes,

coat, everything
brand new, nothing used.

And so put the
little event together.

I just charged a little
nominal registration fee

and a couple of
companies reached out to me

and said, hey, we'd

and my goal was to have about,

you know, I was hoping to have
about 30, 30 kids participate

able to raise enough

to be able to help
those few handful of children.

And I'll never forget it.

children that first year

and I brought them
all in to the clubhouse

didn't have to keep score.

We wanted it to be a fun,

supporting the kids to know

was going to be able to help

that I had growing up.

and I had tried to contact him,

with a concert at
this fair in the county."

He said, "I'd be more
than honored to help you."

And so he said, "But

And he had just built
the courtyard in Harrisburg

and we started having gospel
singings every Saturday night,

and we were just using
the city's local talent

or anyone that
wanted to, come and sing

gentleman that came

and played
piano with one finger,

And that mayor asked me,

away with brain cancer.
