Alred was our youth pastor.

He packed up the van,
packed up the kids and said

"Let's go down to Mexico."

So we came across a
very poor community.

And as we were traveling,

the pastor of that
local community said,

"We have to go
visit this region.

We have to go see
what's happening there."

Now just a few minutes
ago, we were at the gas station,

we probably spend $20 on
popcorn and chips and gum,

and so most of that ended
up on the floor of the van,

and as we pulled
up to the community,

we saw a Blue Bird bus

abandoned on
the side of the road

with curtains in the middle

dividing it into three sections.

that bus were three families,

that was their livelihood.

We later learned that
she needed to buy medicine

for the boy, she
didn't have the money.

wakeup call at that time.

first act of service,

helping this poor family.

And we later learned that
her husband had passed away

from an illness as well,
and so now she's a widow,

a single mother of three kids,
and her oldest boy is dying.

But he did make it, right?

I mean, that's a fantastic
spiritual lesson right there

because we're fortunate enough
here in the states to be fat
