And when I came
out of the water,

I was healed of alcoholism...

I didn't have to
go to AA meetings.

I didn't have to take

any drugs,
medicine or anything else.

You know, I was
instantly healed of drinking.

I had a couple
things that happened.

telling her my sister

with the Holy Spirit

and healed of cocaine and heroin

that she mixed together hardball

or whatever they called it.

And Cheri told me, "I hate
it when you tell that story."

And I said, "Why?"

And you know what she said?

She said, "Because it was a
day by day struggle for me,"

but she did surrender.

And God gave her
the grace every day.

So when you hear stories,
God knows what we all need.

And some people
are healed instantly

and have no further desire.

God knows it takes that,

He wants to lead you

by moment surrender,

So I had a couple things happen.

I was healed of alcoholism,

instantly came out of the water.

I had a vision
of baptizing people

in a faraway land.

I didn't know I was
called to be a missionary.

I didn't understand
that until later on,

when I was in Tanzania,

and I had a fire in my
bones to teach the Word.

And I applied to
the Bible school,

this particular church.

They said, "We
don't allow anyone

going to hell go to our church,
and go to our Bible school."

So they thought
because you had been

in alcoholic in the past
that you were going to...

That's correct.

I was living what's
called the gray area.

I'm sure you've heard
of the gray area before?

Yes, I have. Okay.

Anyway, so one of the
elders came up to me one day

and said, "Well, you can go
to the local junior college,"

because anybody
can study the Bible

at the local junior college.
00:10:08.54\00:10:09.87
And I did.

And I studied the
Bible for two years,

started
preaching in nursing homes

because I was told I
would never have the opportunity

to preach or teach
in the church, etc.

And this was a Sunday
keeping New Testament Church.

Yes, right.

And so, I just had that
desire to teach and to preach.

And I just
really started growing,

undergraduate in gerontology

because I thought that
was all I could ever do.

It's the ministry
of the elder adults.

And then one day, one
of the nurses came up to me

and said her
husband was home dying,

and wanted to talk to someone.

And, of course, I
had the opportunity,

took the opportunity to go

and start
spending time with him.

His name was John.

And he was a fairly large man

and spent a lot of time
with him and baptized him

in the church
because by this time,

I had the keys to the church.

They allowed me to
work in the church.

I'm sure they did.
Well, but they did.

Would they allow you to
baptize him if they'd known?

I had keys of the
church but anyway,

we baptized John that night

and I continue
going over to his home

and spend time with him.

And then one Sunday afternoon,
I heard the Holy Spirit's,

and I didn't understand it
was Holy Spirit, by the way,

because the
church I was part of it

doesn't
understand the Holy Spirit,
00:11:17.54\00:11:18.87
doesn't understand God's grace.
00:11:18.91\00:11:20.24
That's right. Okay.

I know you're
familiar with that also.

Yeah.

And Holy Spirit told me
to lay my hands on John,

so that the Lord could heal him.

And I told John,
said, "We're supposed

to lay our hands and
now I hear this voice.

Lay your hands on your
chest so God can heal you."

And he said, "But your church
doesn't believe in healing."

of the Holy Spirit,"

So he said, "Well, your church
doesn't believe in healing."

And I said, "Well,
what do we have to lose?

Because we'd
have nothing to lose."

Okay, so I lay my
hands on his chest,

and then I heard the Holy Spirit

for the second time.

I didn't say on his
shirt, I say it on his chest.

Wow.

So his wife was with
us, and her name was Candy.

She was sitting on one side,

I was sitting on the other side.

And she unbuttoned his shirt,

and we laid her
hands on his chest.

And I believe he was totally,
totally, instantly healed.

understand why in just a minute.

So we laid her
hands on his chest,

and he started crying.

I left that afternoon,

completely understand

what had happened
because nothing was transparent

happen at the time.

And so, anyway, a
couple days later,

his wife called me
at work and was crying.

And I assumed he had
died because the doctor said

he only had a few days to live.

And it took her about 15 minutes

to share that the VA
hospital had finished

rays on his chest,

and he had a brand new
heart and the arteries...

And was able to go back to work.

So there's nothing
wrong with his health anymore.

of the elders of the church

them what had happened

and they escorted
me out of the building.

said, this was a Sunday

they do not pay attention

to the teaching of the
New Testament that says,

together to lay hands

on someone for healing.

And so they reject.

And I know I grew
up in that church.

about the Holy Spirit.

And so they reject that
and they kicked you out.

me out of the church,

But I was the one
responsible for the PA system.

teach in the Bible school.

because I was the guest

to be able to teach

And there was no one
there to pick me up the airport.

And so I got a taxi
and I had the address

and I went in and
this was in Albania.

that address two years ago.

people on the plane

So that's where the
Holy Spirit told me to go.

So I went to the Stephen...

A taxi driver took
me to the Stephen hotel.

I walked in and
walked up to the counter

if they knew the
name of the Bible school,

and they had no idea,

And said, "But there's
a man sitting over there

So I went over there
and said the same thing,

asked him the same question.

the Bible school,

to pick me up the airport.

the individual

by the name of Jerry

to bring him here.

So he can help me
find the place to stay.

And I said, "Well, I'm Jerry."

And he said, "Where's Larry?"

there for several years.

listened to the Holy Spirit

very first mission trip.
